Speaker: Hello, welcome to Dingle All The Way. I'm Simon. And I'm Lizzie. This is our 30th proper episode. it? Yeah. That's huge. We're like crossovers and our lookbacks and things, which we are planning to do another lookback at some point. Yeah, one day we'll look back. But for now, we're just sort of looking forward.
Speaker: Possibly in anger. We don't know. um Well, let's just jump straight into it. And it's there's no way of other way of saying this, but we did witness someone get buried a alive in the past couple of weeks. It was a lot, wasn't it? um And she nearly, nearly didn't make it. We're talking, of course, about Ruby. Ruby. Because in an act of what he thought was revenge, but was actually just sort of fruitless burial, um Joe Tate decided that because... the Milligans had caused the death of Dawn, he would be burying Ruby alive. Citation needed. but yeah Citation needed because actually it was not true. it was a misguided vengeance attempt. um
Speaker: Yeah, it was crazy. And I think it was one of the storylines that for me personally, I thought things have gone too far. This is completely far school at this stage. Yeah, there's just no way back from that. And I i did think the show sort of acknowledged that when they were saying, this is like this is too far. This is not a thing that happens to people. And like of the fact that everyone's just popped around to be like, if you could just get over it, that would be lovely. Yeah, like what's going on with that? I feel like...
Speaker: Caleb had very kindly decided, you know what? Sure, I'll bury the hatchet. I won't seek revenge. It's fine. um And then Graham popped in and was like, if you could not seek revenge, that would be great. like He actually like wasn't trying to. All he said on the street was like, don't talk to me. And they were like, we need to hammer it home that he can't try and kill us. You've gone too far keep Yeah, like we heard you were burying something. We didn't realise it was a hatchet.
Speaker: But yeah it yeah, I didn't like that. I mean, partly because being very alive, obviously, is like a nightmare scenario for almost anyone, I suppose. Yeah, I don't think you're unique in finding that unpleasant concept. But I think when people are like falling out of windows or something, like, that doesn't haunt my everyday experience. Although maybe it should because you did. Did you not nearly fall out of your own window recently? I did. I did have that whole situation. really taken my eye off the ball and that's why. Like I'm so concentrating on not being very alive. I'm not even looking at me thinking about my defenestration.
Speaker: Yeah, I think like um Beth Cordingley, who plays Ruby, did a fantastic job of like kind of dignifying the situation by acting so well. And she did such a good job of that sheer panic and like afterwards being so like overwhelmed. um But honestly, other than that, there was no dignity in the whole storyline. There was no dignity. It was ridiculous. And Graham, we know Graham unquestionably does whatever Jo says, but when he says like drug people for reasons I won't go into.
Speaker: um But when Vinny actually confessed to them to him and Billy that he was the one who, again, citation needed, is responsible for the death of Dawn. Yeah, it is quite like it's a lot of steps removed at this point.
Speaker: Yeah, I guess Billy did beat him up and that wasn't nice. But he hasn't seemed to face nearly as harsh a consequence as Ruby, who actually did not cause any death. No, who just sort of told the truth. she didn't tell the truth, but she just revealed that there was ah nice to piece of work to do on, which is true. Yeah. Even if not specifically the things she was talking about. Yeah. I mean, people did act like Billy had really gone to town on Billy, whereas as far as I could tell, you just hit him twice, which it wasn't that big a deal. It was a few punches. Was it because Vinny then collapsed at home and got a concussion that he went to hospital? Because I don't think he needed to go to hospital before that. So it's kind of like, i mean, it's not his own fault, but it's not that Billy coded.
Speaker: He wasn't like very live, for example. Something that seems to be much more, you know, water for ducks back. um And look, I hate say i hate to say this, but when Billy and Joe were ganging up on Vinny...
Speaker: I saw chemistry. You just think everybody has chemistry. They don't have chemistry. Tell me I'm wrong. They hate each other. that i've i think I've read too many enemies to lovers very much now. I think maybe you have. My big question is like, nobody seems to be telling the police that Joe tried to bury someone alive or did bury someone alive. Is that the hatchet that they're being told to bury? Because I thought it was like, please don't murder us back with a crowbar. But like, everybody seems to now know, yeah, that's what happened to Ruby. And no one's told the police.
Speaker: It is quite shocking, isn't it? Like if I lived in a village where someone had recently tried to bury someone alive, that's not something that I would just go about my day. bri Regards, it doesn't quite make sense. as you know We get the gist. Just drop in like the key. I think that's what this podcast should maybe be. Just in note form, keywords of what we're thinking. Regards. Regards.
Speaker: regards um yeah it it does feel like something that someone in this in the storyline room was like wouldn't it be wild if Ruby got buried alive and I was like wow yeah Beth Cornelie would do a great job at that scene and it's like would would it be possible not to really reference it ever again yeah that's fine yeah probably yeah sure let's make it work no one needs to have any long-term ill effects from it it'll be fine um And so when people were wondering where Graham was on Dawn's dawn's funeral when he was off trucking Caleb, his um cover story is that he was doing some fencing.
Speaker: that was Yeah, I noticed that because he was like, yeah, isn't that also how Billy injured his hand later is that like Billy was helping him to put up a fence. that's all they do where are they putting these fences they hire sam to be a groundsman and the idea of him putting up a fence when he's wearing that suit is just a lot isn't it oh it's a lot i mean great my hatred of graham continues to pace and just every time he's in a scene he looks like he brings his irate down graham brings his damp nothing to every scene sucking energy out of everything
Speaker: so He's damped nothing. He's damped nothing. I was wondering why he took so long to start doing chest compressions on Ruby because Caleb was like doing a really bad job of it for quite a long time. And Graham was just watching and then he was like, get out of the way, i'm going to do this. And like, you kind of basically waited for her to die before being like, you know what, I could save you.
Speaker: Maybe he was looking being like, she is lying very still. So I assume she'll be fine. She's had her SAS training and she knows that if she just lies still long enough, she'll actually be alive. Yeah, and it turns out she doesn't have the same powers that Graham has and does need some sort of medical intervention. It's a shame. Yeah, there was a lot of Graham content, none of it great. I was like almost moved by the hug that he had with Joe, where he like went over. But it was just like so, the way that he sort clamped his hand onto Joe's shoulder, it was just so aggressive. I was like, that's not affectionate at all.
Speaker: Yeah, and as I said to you, it felt like an AI trying to pretend to be human. And I'm wondering, like we know in the past they've done, um Evil John used AI to manipulate Mac and Charity. Someone else used AI in an evil way that I forget. um Sadie's using AI to do bad things. um Is Graham's street Return of the Dead actually just a big AI storyline? Oh my word, is he deepfake hologram? Is he a deepfake hologram? Like he could be.
Speaker: I mean, he's he's finally the mist that I long to be. and oh i just I mean, I know he's supposedly leaving the show in this in today's episode. or yeah He's not leaving. He's obviously not going, is he? And I mean, don't dangle the dream and then take it away. don't really want him gone. I had a few thoughts about the fact that he's um in inverted commas leaving. The first one being, do we think he's going to raise the baby and then come back and be like, here's your son. Don't you actually love him?
Speaker: I you mean like in a long time or like next week? I don't know, maybe six weeks. Yeah. Yeah, maybe. Like it's so possible, isn't it? Yeah. But then my spring off thought from that was, what the heck is Graham's income?
Speaker: <unk> like why is he still at home farm is the big question we've always had but he seems to be like getting up to things and being a bit useful even if it is onion joe scheming but now that he's left like what does he do could he afford to look after himself let alone a baby he just like looms around and says things ah Presumably his will was like executed when he died for a few years. Yeah, so... He has no money left. He has no assets. He is That way he wears the same suit every day. It's all he owes. We finally got to the bottom of it. Yeah.
Speaker: So I'll be very interested to know what goes on there. And Kim's like, stay for me. It's like you hated each other last week. I don't understand. I'm really confused by their relationship because at the funeral he like had his arm on her back and that kind of thing. And I was like...
Speaker: you guys, like, what's going on there? I'm quite confused. There's so much to unpack from the funeral itself. For example, the fact that at one point somebody made a speech and said that Dawn was capricious.
Speaker: Capricious. And I thought, I don't think that's a good thing, is it? Doesn't that mean, like, spiteful and, like, vain? oh I thought it meant sort of, um I don't know, spontaneous but makes bad, like, risky decisions. Oh, let me quick have a look.
Speaker: I do remember there model called Caprice in the 90s. So she's a special guest. Caprice, thoughts? And now she's here. oh you know what? Okay, it does say, an adjective that describes a person, animal, or thing that changes mood, behavior, or plans very suddenly and without a clear reason.
Speaker: I mean, that does describe every single character in Everdale. That's true. I just think at my funeral, if someone were to be making a eulogy about me, would I be pleased to hear myself described as capricious?
Speaker: On balance, no. Like there are so many other things about a person you can say, but being like, yeah, she sometimes just made really bad decisions with no thought at all. yeah great it's bold isn't it it's a bold one and kim also said and she looked so beautiful in that wedding dress like at no other time but she looked like also when did kim see her in the wedding dress only when she just been exploded right Her remains were beautiful.
Speaker: But I mean, the the whole, we all come back to the funeral, but like the whole blaming Ruby and Caleb and Vinny, like clearly the people to blame for Dawn dying at the and NHS, like some sort of total neglect on the ward. There was a lot of negligence. And I actually think Jo had a part in that. i might have said that.
Speaker: last week um but the nurse did come round and was like we have to do some obs on you and we have to do some tests and Joe was like can't I just have five minutes with my wife um sent the nurse away so I think Joe has nobody to blame for himself ah nobody to blame but himself Maybe that's what you're lashing out from.
Speaker: um To go back to the funeral, I do have a voice note um from your friend of mine, Reverend Peter Thomas. and Your friend of mine being your father and a man I've met once. yeah And he repeatedly called me Katie.
Speaker: Yes, all of that is true. But but um I mean, he spelt my name with a K in a family newsletter a while ago. What? Like, Kaiman? Saikon. Saikon. Love that. I once got a birthday card from my parents, which just said, love mum and beta, which I really enjoyed.
Speaker: yeah Wow. God bless him. He's a wonderful man. But um as people... Well no from the fact that called Reverend, he is a vicar or retired vicar. And I was intrigued about whether or not vicars can officiate funerals on private land. Oh that is an intriguing question. And here's his answer.
Speaker: The straightforward answer is a Church of England vicar can bury someone on private land but there are various qualifications to that statement. They're not allowed to act in a freelance capacity.
Speaker: Oh I'll do it as your friend not a vicar. they are bound by the rules that they should not act outside of the conventional. Bearing a body in their own parish in consecrated ground is the norm.
Speaker: to act side out To act outside of that you would need authority from both the bishop and the vicar of the parish. Bearing in unconsecrated ground may require a brief form of prayer to consecrate the space.
Speaker: And that secures its permanence since it's illegal to exhume a body buried in consecrated ground. They must obviously have the landowner's consent.
Speaker: And there are other environmental issues. It must be, for instance, at least 50 metres from any well or borehole used for drinking water. And there should be at least a metre of soil both below and above the coffin.
Speaker: But the Vicar will want to establish that the death has been registered. and so he needs to receive what's called a green form, a certificate of authority for burial. And that the person organising it is acting either on behalf of the will that's been made or the immediate family.
Speaker: And they should also understand how it's going to be marked and whether it will be accessible. And a note apparently should be added to the land registry and the property deeds.
Speaker: and it is a legal requirement that a record is kept at the name, date and location of burial. So it's advisable that that note should be added to the parish records.
Speaker: Thanks, to Dad. So it sounds like Emmerdell did follow for once what the Church of England say broadly. Yeah, I mean, I don't think Charles has ever really been known for actually being a Christian, let alone adhering to the Church of England. But um lovely to know that in this respect, they did leave. was quite surprised. I thought it had to be in a graveyard or a cemetery. You didn't think you could just like dig a hole in ah or your back garden and get a bicker over. know. When I worked at a church, we once did an April falls prank where we um wrote a letter to vicar asking him to come and do a series of like dog funerals, ah kennels. And he was like, this is putting me in such a difficult position because like, I want to say yes on a pastoral caring level. But I think on a like spiritual slash church of England level, I definitely have to say no to this and I don't really know what to do.
Speaker: That's excellent. Thank you. Yeah, there was like a sort of series, like an Instagram trend a while ago of people phoning the relatives to inviting them to a dog baptism seeing how they responded. Oh, I love that. So good. So funny.
Speaker: Yeah. So what else? Anything more about the funeral? i think at one point it might have been the day of or the day before Kim told Billy that he was going to have to perk up. I thought quite insensitive, like the mother of your children has died. And it's like, you know what, you're just gonna to perk up.
Speaker: Exactly. Please get over it. Yeah, there's a lot of people desperate for people to get over things ASAP. Yeah, there's not much emotional processing being allowed in the village at the moment. Everyone just has to get over everything. I like that. with Something new has happened. Someone else has been buried alive now. we We've moved on.
Speaker: um So it looks like, so Vinny guest did his little confession round, this time to the people who might care most, because he did I don't think there's a single person he's kept that secret from.
Speaker: he's just Other than Lewis. Other than Lewis. Sweet Lewis. That was very moving. I'd be more invested in them breaking up had we seen more than five minutes of them. as a couple on screen together i'm not sure we've ever seen them touch no no nor will we again it seems but and that's that's fine i never really like i never bought it as in i was like quite invested in vinnie's like sexuality storyline and like the stuff with cammy i totally get that but then it just felt like they threw him together with like the single young gay guy in the village
Speaker: And that I never really thought they really had any chemistry. So I'm not gutted that they broke up. Sorry to say I mean, I can't imagine anyone cares, do they? Surely. Someone who should care, we've not seen caring, is Cammie. Like, where's Cammie? I wrote down, we just got sort of like a split second scene of Cammie walking into the pub and then walking out of the pub with Vinny. And I was like, come on, where are you? Where are you? At one point, someone knocked on Vinny's door. And was that Cammie outside? I think it was supposed to be Cammie. I wonder if they just got in to sort of send in a voice note that week. Maybe they've done more cutting of scenes. I think it just said, where are you, bro? Or like, hey, or something. I was like, oh, well, he's gone. Like, he's just like, he's here, but he's not here. Yeah, because he was looking after Gabby at one point. He's looking after Vinny. He's looking after Lewis, all off screen. Come on, like, Cami, we know that you,
Speaker: You're a good friend. We've seen that in the past. He is a good friend. But he's like, he's at the whims of the the story writers, I guess. That's true. Yeah. I mean, maybe he wasn't even meant to be in that scene. He sort of like shouted through the set door. Cammy would do this.
Speaker: cammie would come Cammy would shout through a door. That's the kind of thing he would do. It's yeah it's on brand. and Mandy obviously has reacted calmly and logically to all of this. Mandy loves suggesting that people run away to Ireland. Don't you remember when she was trying to convince Paddy to do that with the whole modern day slavery thing? And it was just like, why are you obsessed with sending people to Ireland? As if there aren't police in Ireland. it is like Northern Ireland is the same country.
Speaker: Why do you think it's untraceable? She treats Ireland like it's like the base in a game of tag, whereas if you're touching it, you can't be caught. It's safe. We've captured the flag and we've gone back to Ireland.
Speaker: like where does she Does she think it's like undiscovered land? It's like completely uncharted territory. Don't you know that? It's the Bermuda Triangle. the Yeah, the police would be like, well, they have gone to Ireland. So case closed, I suppose.
Speaker: and I did enjoy that she said to Vinnie, you've got me, your mum, Paddy. As though she had to like clarify who she was to Vinnie. I think we've met before. I am your mother and I'm here for you. And she also said, which was the most backhanded compliment. You're stronger than I ever gave you credit for. I know. I was like, I think that would be kicking someone when they were down. I feel like I thought you were weak. Sorry. Yeah, you seemed flimsy and pathetic. It turns I mean, you are, but not as much as I thought. I know. I am. Yeah, I am sad that Vinny has turned out to be as flimsy and pathetic as he has, because I feel like, don't know, when you see, it's not Bradley Richards, is it the actor? What's his name? Bradley something else. Yeah, was going say Bradley Cooper, but it's not him. Sorry to say. Yeah, when you see him doing videos on social media and that kind of thing, he's quite cool. He's a confident guy. moment he puts that horrible anorak and the glasses he transforms into Vinny. And it's such a shame to see that transition. You could have done much more with that character. You could have like... made him find himself once he found his sexuality and instead he has just sadly become more and more spineless to the point where I think he's become maybe part C cucumber and now he's going to prison
Speaker: Yeah, where Aaron comes over with some touching words comfort. Basically like, you will be assaulted. Prison's going to be horrible for you. Just keep your head down.
Speaker: if Just try and stem the bleeding. Yeah, just like, just for goodness sake, don't tell anybody what you're really like and you might be okay. um And it did lead me to Google, like, how bad is it to be gay in UK prison? i ended up on various Reddit threads. And what did you find? Well, mixed opinions.
Speaker: So some of them were like, not great. Others were like, as long as you don't do drugs and then don't pay for those drugs, you're probably fine. it's Okay, presumably that's kind of the same regardless of your sexuality. well you'd think, wouldn't you? But I i hope for Vinny's sake that, well, I sort of think i mean i don't know the ins and outs of the law per se, but would he go to prison for this?
Speaker: Maybe. I guess we'll find out. Because he sort of caused death by dangerous driving, but what he really did was cause Jimmy to drive off the road. It was sort of then Jimmy's fault that he drove across an entire field before putting the brakes on. Yeah, truly it is Jimmy's fault that they died. because They should exhum him and take him to prison. Yeah. Like, I think it's just hard, isn't it? He did.
Speaker: He was the reason that Jimmy caused that accident to happen. But yeah, how far back do you trace it? I don't really know. i mean, something that has led me not to trust the police and the justice system in Emmerdale at all anymore. Sure. Is that um Vinny was charged on the 24th of August and his hearing was the 25th of September. i don't know if you heard that. No, i missed that. um And the episode was released on the 24th of September. So i think they just like accidentally said the date wrong. But I was like, oh, that's like quite a long time in between being charged and having a hearing. And then they were like, no, it's the next day. And I was like, oh, I think I think you just got the date wrong. Like, not great.
Speaker: That's, I mean, that sounds like they could bust the whole trial. Like they could say the paperwork doesn't add up. Yeah, surely, surely. maybe Maybe it was all deliberate. Maybe that is what's going to happen. It's going to be like and an unusual soap storyline about bureaucracy and... Admin. like Yeah, admin, basically.
Speaker: Clerical errors cost lives, Simon. so I'm not sure which lives in particular in this case, but yes, you're right. um I guess also quite a fun way to be reminded that Vinny has a secret dog in the same way that a lot of people... have secret children and him just being like, i just love Chip so much. Like, please, Aaron, will you look after her?
Speaker: And there will be no evidence of this dog, no matter who owns it. It's kind of just like bye the by It's wandering the streets at night. I wrote this i read that down as well, but like apparently he's got a dog. And Aaron must have been like, sure, I'll look after your imaginary dog. He might have helped you get through the day. if that's what you need, I'll do it for Liv. Yeah, I guess he and Liv got a dog together or something. i did Well, I think it is the same dog.
Speaker: As what? I don't remember a dog. As the one that Liv got. Oh, I thought you i thought you were literally saying Liv got a dog together with him. But yeah, I think that i thought that was what happened. Well, I guess it must be, but i have no recollection of it. I guess maybe that, well, I suppose I wasn't watching when that happened, which would explain that.
Speaker: um I don't tend to remember events I wasn't present for. um That's just something about me. And I enjoyed in that scene where he was foisting imaginary dogs on people, that he'd gone to the cafe in like a baseball cap, like a celebrity going incognito. Yeah, as if anybody wouldn't recognise him. Yeah, and then being like, oh yeah, um it's fine that we're I'll just leave if Nicola comes. It's like, I think you should just not be there. like i had a place of work. If you know how upset it's going to make for you to be there, just don't go in the first place. Like, why would you do that? You can her in any number of other places. Yeah, there are so many places available to you. It doesn't have to be the sort of wife of the man that you killed's place of work. Yeah, and when he was like, I can't come back here and see the people, see the kids grow with a dad. It's like, don't worry. no one sets eyes on those children in that village. You're fine. Don't worry. They'll be hidden from sight. They've got so many A-levels to revise for.
Speaker: They will not leave their rooms for a calendar year. You're absolutely fine. Plus Nicola would have married someone else by this time next year. Probably cares. And the baby will be in the hands of the social services or Graham's. so it's fine did you notice how Kim looked like she had never held a baby before in her life I didn't actually spot that she was just like kind of holding in a really awkward way Wow. Yeah, I know. I that whole storyline is so intriguing to me because I know obviously the fact that Kim has got this secret adopted daughter is now all she thinks about despite the fact that there's no reason why would be thinking about it more now than ever before. But she's acting like adoption is the same as just throwing a child in the sea. She's just like, adoption is always wrong. Is that something we're saying? Like that but baby should not grow up around Jo. no one should be around joe no one should grow up around joe yeah and i found it quite puzzling when joe said to graham like obviously the adoption is happening off the books and i was like why why are you not using the proper channels riddle me that i mean it would take longer but i mean when i say that i mean if social services just caught a glimpse of their lifestyle they'd be like don't let that baby set foot in that house fine
Speaker: Yeah, it is all very strange. And yeah, all. And Lisa and Billy kept being like, oh, we would have raised him. It's like, can you just give your child to someone else? Is that a thing? I think in Emmerdale, it's a thing. I mean, look at Layla. That's true. She's just passed around the houses, isn't she? Yeah. One thing I did wonder about was once all of this sort of police officer, Anthea, is that her name?
Speaker: I couldn't tell you. Um, well, anyway, once she inevitably tells Kim that she's her daughter and they make amends, do you think she might move into home farm and she and Joe might fall in love and then it'll be like, are we allowed to fall in love because we're kind of related?
Speaker: Oh, yeah. I mean, I have not and will never learn quite how Jo and Kim are related, but it does feel incestuous. i mean, she doesn't know for one. us As we've said, she refers him as her grandson, her son. Her nephew, her great nephew. Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, i thought she was a lesbian, but maybe she's bisexual. Oh, yeah. Or did we just invent that? in our minds. So hard to remember, isn't it? I think we mentioned it in our minds because we realised there was like a link going on between her and Serena in that interview.
Speaker: um But we didn't realise they just like knew each other rather than being involved. But maybe they're also involved. I don't know. We don't know. I can't even remember scene it Serena said, I speak not bisexual or straight. So it's just I have sort of lost track of this Anthea Kim thing because obviously she moved, well, she went to the village first to try and drag Kim down out of rage.
Speaker: And now she's back in a place of trying to drag Kim down out of rage. But where and why did that middle bit happen where she suddenly didn't hate Kim and they were like having a heart to heart in a graveyard?
Speaker: I was quite thrown by that scene. So i was like, I don't think you've really interacted since you were like really trying to frame her for a crime. Yeah, because I thought that scene was why she no longer hated Kim, but it was hard to know why that scene started or why she was there at all. Yeah, I don't really know how it began. She just sort of was like, sorry for going so hard at you in the investigation. and then suddenly they had a heart to heart and she was like, wow, she's my mum.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, again, I do wonder if they've been cutting scenes, if they've had to, like, go down one episode. Yeah, true. I thought that actually when Sarah was telling Serena to, like, stop being so defensive when she hadn't said anything at all. Yeah, I just, there were so many scenes that seemed to end quite abruptly that was like, I don't know if I'm just not really paying attention or if there's just, like, yeah, things going on behind the scenes. be both. And then, you know, for some reason, Kim had a very uncharacteristic thing of saying she didn't care at all about the baby in the pub just to make um the the police officer angry again yeah I thought maybe that came from a place of like I don't want to talk about this right now you don't get the situation anyway um but yeah I did think she would have said like this is not necessarily what I actually wanted
Speaker: yeah to see yeah I mean ah obviously Emmerdale is not going to show a successful illegal adoption so something else is going to happen but I mean Joe will take the child, we'll never see the child, end. It's basically where it's going to be. I was thinking that. I was like, it really makes little to no difference who raises that child because it won't be on screen again, like ever. At least not for 18 years. He will sometimes play with a small toy car in the corner of the screen. That'll be it. The only exception is occasionally might get kidnapped. Yeah. And then otherwise.
Speaker: And then he'll pop back up like Elliot did, where we were expected to believe he'd been there the whole time. Also, I've been thinking about this. obviously Elliot um what's the little potato called Carl and then um where's Angel like the last few episodes it's just been the boys like what's Angel up to that's true yeah she's grieving in her own special way yeah joyriding or something she's got to process things somehow yeah yeah I did think it was a bit um unfair when Mandy came over to Nicola and was like, this is just like what Angel did. And Nicola was like, it's not at all the same. It's like, it's exactly it's exactly the same. I don't know what you think is different. It is literally the same thing. Yeah, that that was kind of wild to me that Mandy thought that she could just go over to Nicola and be like, please, can you help?
Speaker: I popped you down as a witness for the defence. Is that okay? okay Is that okay? Yeah, it's all right. And then we she's like, well, we're not friends anymore. It's like, when were you ever friends? You've never interacted. Like, I don't think we can be friends. like I don't think that'll change but my life at all, actually, but sure. Yeah, exactly. I'm not entirely sure your name is, but great. Yeah. um I thought Nicola Wheeler was amazing. Well, just always and everywhere. But um in the scene...
Speaker: where she told everyone in the pub what was going on was so moving she had a great scene with lewis when when he found out and they'd like that heart heart in the cafe um i'm so glad that he didn't know beforehand so he could just authentically be like no i didn't know yeah um they had a hug which obviously for him is a big deal i know i wrote that down because lewis like initiated it with nico and i was like he hates hugs that's a big deal But yeah, I thought Nicola Wheeler has been doing so well acting, like so much disappointment and so much pure like rage, but then like real vulnerability as well.
Speaker: um And then like goading Gabby into like, no, why don't you say a few words about Dawn? I thought that was really, yeah. That was great. Yeah. and love that Laurel was still like yeah I know you're angry at me but you're still my best friend and we're gonna help you and like I never thought that would last particularly long if you can get over being buried alive you can get over your friend inviting your li I mean there's very tenuous link to Gabby in this incident I know yeah something I found quite funny was um Serena and uh DS Ramsden sitting down for a coffee outside um the cafe and like Nicola being quite upset and hysterical about you know Jimmy and everything um and then Nicola walks out of the scene and um DS Ramson's like
Speaker: oh, what's wrong with her? And Serena's like, well, she's been like that since I arrived. You're like, well, I mean, i don't think that's true. Like, have you really seen no change in her behaviour since her husband died and she was processing that in quite public, horrible I don't think she was exactly like that when Jimmy was still alive.
Speaker: So true. That's so funny. And also, yeah, I noticed that scene because watchs what T.S. Ramsey actually asked is, is she okay? She's just been like screaming in hysterics on the street. She's fine. Is she all right?
Speaker: Yeah. It's like, she's not great. no, don't worry. She's always like that. She's been like that since I got here. I simply don't care about her behaviour. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. I mean, is it's a lot, but Yeah, is I mean, when we learned that Jimmy was being axed, um that was my consolation was like, at least Nicola Wheeler is going to get amazing stuff to do. And she has not disappointed. True, true, true, true. And do we think that we're still on to see ah Kev Nicola romance? Because I wondered whether there was something going on with Kev and Manpreet, which I don't know if you noticed.
Speaker: Of course I did. And I was i didn't know if you were going to accuse me of fabricating chemistry again. No, was real chemistry. But when he was like, here's a jam donut for you. I like, okay. Well, I think she said you're filthy or something. And I was like, for giving you a jam donut? Is that a euphemism I'm not aware of? Look, I haven't got a clue, but let's say yes. I mean, I would love, oh, sorry to hit the microphone. I would love so much that I'm destroying the equipment, Manfrey and Kev, not long term, but just whilst Nicola's grieving, because I think Nicola and Kev need to be, let well, as end game as you get in this situation. Yeah, maybe. Yeah.
Speaker: i I just think it would be such an unusual sort of hairpin bend for Manpreet's love life to have slept with Ross and then quite quickly move on to Kev and you think very different vibes. Yeah, well, let's not forget she was with Jay's dad for a long time. So she she has no type. She has no type and I do respect that.
Speaker: And she works well with all of them. She's just such a chameleon. I'm glad we've seen a bit more of her, but i would love her to have an actual storyline. And if that is having a strange romance with Kev, so be it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We had some scenes with her and Gabby. Should we talk about Gabby situation? Obviously Gabby's got, I don't know, emphysema or bronchitis or any manner of things and is refusing to take her antibiotics because she's,
Speaker: obsessed with health and nutrition and big pharma um i did think and we've been talking for quite a long time haven't we about this um orthorexia storyline and how it's been done quite well so far because they've sort of given us hints of what's coming but it hasn't been um like all at once and that is quite true to reality with eating disorders of you get sort of little glimpses um much more usually than like a huge dramatic, it all comes to a head, it all blows over, great. um I actually think the one thing that they haven't done very well was Manfreak's sort of bedside manner in diagnosing it of like basically walking into Gabby's ah house and just being like, you've got this thing you probably haven't heard of, but it's called orthorexia and I can tell you've got it because of this, this, this. And she did it really insensitively, which obviously went down terribly. And now Gabby's like, not going to listen.
Speaker: Yeah, and the way she was like, so we got the blood test results and you've got various illnesses. And then she shrugged. Like, what's going on? Yeah, it was very, i like, I mean, more for bringing back house calls, but only by appointment and with consent. Yeah, I also was just like, are you allowed to just walk into someone's house and be like, you're really unwell, by the way. Bye. Yeah, every single blessing with that.
Speaker: Because, yeah, I think, as you say, I think they've done the st storyline really well. I think, I mean, that's that sort of blipper part that they are still doing it really well, because and this is not a part of the internet that i particularly see. The algorithm does not serve these things to me. Which is probably a good thing. of its Yes, of course. Yeah.
Speaker: ah But it's like any anything with an algorithm. Once she's looked at one video about it, she's going to get of them. She's going to get a lot. Yeah. And she's going to, that's, it's maybe been a bit sudden with her, but you can see that is the viewpoint a lot of people have. And they can manipulate to say, you know, the fact that GPs only have three hours or whatever it was of nutrition training probably is true that they get. you know, just a small amount of things actually caught that. Although obviously they have a lot of medical knowledge that counteracts a lot of the other things that they're being told online about, you know, antibiotics being poisoned, all that sort of thing. But you can see then they've done their research well into the sort of content that vulnerable people are seeing and then how,
Speaker: it's not so clearly nonsense. um Like if you' you're saying like doctors are like, you know, injecting babies with poison or whatever, I feel like, well, that's clearly not happening. But if you're saying they don't have nutrition training and these things have side effects, it's like, well, that like there's an element of truth to it and therefore it's more believable so um yeah I think I think can't remember her name the actress plays Gabby is doing um Rosie Bentham that's it yes thank you she's doing great job with and I like my memory went from the sort of like it's great that you're eating healthfully to being like you know the obvious concern she she has um yeah be intrigued to see where it goes but think it's such an interesting and unusual and well done storyline Yeah, I think they're doing well. I think I did absolutely predict that when she started coughing and got a tissue that there would be blood on it when she took it away. I was like, I know that's coming. My like big question throughout it all is, who is the random small child being turned against sandwiches?
Speaker: Oh, yes. it Just like Clemmie being like, watch this to another small child. And you're just like, who is that? Are we meant to know who she is Bless her. I just sort of took it my stride. But who who is this other daughter of girl? I don't know. she's got two brothers. Who else has a daughter? Could you give that one some thought? Are we saying it's, could it be Dottie? I don't think that's what Dottie looks like, is it?
Speaker: I don't remember what Dottie looks like. Maybe it's just a random school friend, but she was quite lot younger than her. She quite a lot younger, and I was just like, this poor girl just walked in off the streets, and now it's just like, don't eat this trash. Like, okay, cool, bye. Okay, great.
Speaker: Yeah, maybe it was Dottie, or maybe they recast Dottie, who knows? i don't know. She was very cute. Like, I'd like to see more of her. Maybe there are more children who just can never get mentioned. but Yeah, I don't know. have to check the credits. and But yeah, that's interesting that Gabby is a TikTok channel. Yeah, and I mean, good for her. But um I didn't think that that video looked like it was going to sort of crack the algorithm and go viral. It was mainly just like, I'm putting a donut in the bin.
Speaker: Yeah, although you can imagine that Clemmie would follow her in a sort of like, there's this is call up cool like young woman in the village I'd like yeah um to get to know. Who I guess actually lived with her for a long time, didn't she? Until Kim threw her, I was so shocked that she threw her was so shocked by that. When she was like when when Joe said, oh, either like she goes or I go, I was like, well, you're making unreasonable requests.
Speaker: So I guess you have to leave because she has a small child. Who is Kim's granddaughter. Her grandson. grandson um And then suddenly she was off. Yes, Kim's like, I care so much about my great nephew once removed whatever this child is that I'm throwing my grandson out of the house.
Speaker: Yeah, it's all very odd. Kim makes some odd life choices, but this is, yeah, definitely up there. But I guess there must be a reason plot-wise...
Speaker: that Gabby had to move in with Laurel. yeah And it's nice to have a, it's more stable place for her, but, um, and, and I still don't know if Arthur lives there or if he's left the show completely. Did he move to Australia something? That was what i was trying to remember, whether he actually did or did not go in the end, but I think he did. Has he left the show? Who knows?
Speaker: Is he there for a bit? We don't know. But Laurel's had such a year, hasn't she? you remember all stuff with Ray? gosh, she's been through it. And Arthur pushed her down the stairs and stuff. I haven't got over that quite quickly. Yeah, she's just had to suddenly kick into top gear supporting Nicola instead.
Speaker: She is always walking around holding a basket of washing as well. All she ever does is laundry. Laundry. And I mean, she's definitely got Dottie there somewhere. Well, maybe being looked after by Clemmie in the calf. Does she ever look after Archie? I don't know. Maybe. yeah, Archie. We haven't seen him in a while.
Speaker: haven't i seen Jay in ages. No, that's fine, actually. feel fine about that. um I noted down that i really loved Laurel's yellow jumper and jeans outfit.
Speaker: I don't think noticed that, but it does sound quite sweet. It was a lovely mustard, it really suited her. And then the next day, she was in the most surreal blouse that looked... The only frame of reference I have is the costumes that actors wear at the Black Country Museum when they're pretending to be Victorian cooks. I that's an incredibly niche reference. Yeah.
Speaker: I would love to go to the Black Country Museum with you. oh that be a treat. I haven't been since I was a child because obviously it's eight for children. but it But it was our local museum, I guess, in Worcestershire. um But yeah, it was like, how how have we gone from this like cool mum vibe to whatever's going on with this absurd blouse? I can't deal with That is quite interesting. But isn't Laurel the one who like when she first arrived in the vi in the village, she was dressed as a bee or something? She was dressed as a bee and that comes to us all.
Speaker: unpredictable say maybe they just have to like maybe the costume department are like every now and again we just have to throw something in there to remind everybody of like laurels just like peppy past sartorially yeah maybe or maybe she's just getting stuff from the like church jumble sales yeah true it's comema cheeses helping chiles out i don't know what job is if she has one but i think she is a mum and that is a noble job but it doesn't pay that well, I thought. And I guess when you're a widow and your husband was a vicar, so presumably he doesn't have much of an inheritance to give out, does make you think... Maybe she's good terms in the divorce from Jay.
Speaker: Yeah, maybe. i doubt it, though. Isn't Jay kind of destitute? Oh, he is, isn't he now? Maybe because he gave it all to her. She was married to Marlon at one point, I think, so maybe she's got bit of a chef salary. She also has no type, I guess.
Speaker: No. So many people must be paying out all of their salary in alimony. It's all just being like circulated around the village. Yeah, gosh, there's so much going on in that village. Yeah. Laurel also, i think it was in the scene when Manpre came over, I don't know, in the house sometimes, she just sort of lunged towards the camera with, must remember my bag for life, like it was some sort of sponcon.
Speaker: Yeah, they haven't hit their like sustainability targets for this term. They're like, it's quick, someone needs to talk about a bag for life ASAP. Well, we had Matt going on about how much he loves electric cars, so clearly that is what... Yeah, maybe that's genuinely it. Are they being like sponsored by DEFRA or something? Yeah.
Speaker: Maybe they are. i I mean, it's subtle. I'll give them that. Yeah. Is it? Well, no, but it's it's neither subtle nor clear. so it's Yeah, I'm certainly confused, which I don't think is the main point of most advertising campaigns, but it's something they're hitting.
Speaker: Oh dear. So I guess the other thing going on at the moment is Sadie's obviously still kicking about. She told Robert that she'd been looking for this money for weeks. She's only been like two weeks. Is that what she means?
Speaker: I guess so. So was was Jimmy meant to deliver it to her at this hotel and then he never made it because he crashed? yeah. I guess so. that wasn't weeks ago, was it? When she said, I've been looking for it for weeks. Like you can only have been looking for it since he died, which is not long ago. that long ago. And her plan continues to be just looking in random places. for yeah in this drawer She's got a great strategy of like rummaging. She's still just rummaging. She loves to rummage. She loves to rummage. And then she sort of became friends with Detective Ruby, was like on the case. Yeah, I'm just so like, i I know is bad. I struggle to care about this storyline. I think maybe because I wasn't watching when Sadie was in it the first time. I'm just not that enamoured with her as a character. I don't really care. I just want it to be overrated. And I was quite annoyed that Nicola chose to listen to that voice note with headphones on when she was in the house on her own and could have just played it out loud on the laptop because then when she walked away, she didn't hear the end of it.
Speaker: That's so true. I mean, it was a weird voice note where it was like, oh, by the way, I love my wife and I would never cheat on that. But yeah, hopefully hopefully someone will listen to it. i mean, you think at least the police would would want to hear it.
Speaker: Maybe it'll be Carl. Maybe Carl will find it. Oh gosh, I can't deal with that. um I do find, i mean, like you, I wasn't around when Sadie was around the first time, but I do find her sort of whispering of all the lines quite disconcerting.
Speaker: Maybe she's supposed to be like the female version of Graham. Gosh, maybe they could have a suicide pact or something. That'd be lovely. I did wonder if there was a cold going around the cast because obviously Sadie's whispering everything. Mary at one point behind the bar was like, shall I ask them to speak up?
Speaker: And then Aaron, did you notice when Aaron had his conversation with Vinny? He's gone so gravelly. I don't know if that's something I just haven't noticed before, but he is like gravel nation. And it made me think like,
Speaker: We think that that's Graham's voice, but could he just have like a really long term chest infection or something? And then he's been spreading it round whole village and one by one they're just they're falling. That's where Gabby got it from. That's where Gabby got it from. Graham is patient zero and that's why he needs to leave, but not with that baby.
Speaker: Yeah, no. oh Or not with or without the baby. I don't care about the baby. just don't want the baby to get the chest infection, you know. oh That's a very good point. Or they shake these things off quickly, don't they? um Is that so?
Speaker: I'm not technically a paediatrician. I think if a newborn baby gets, like, for example, bronchitis, it's probably not great news for anybody. oh babies, just they just shake it off.
Speaker: the only thing they know how to do. That's why you famously should shake a baby. If you take anything from this podcast. No, seriously, don't shake a baby. Don't shake don't shake babies. don't Or anyone, really. I don't want to be shook. Neither shaken nor stirred.
Speaker: um I enjoyed Ruby when when she sort of figured out Sadie had been with someone else when she was supposed to be with Jimmy being like who am I going to tell Jimmy just like just as reminder he's dead lol and from her perspective this is like his essentially grieving widow and she's like remember Yasmin or love or whatever he died haha it's like odd punchline to go with Ruby but sure yeah like definitely too soon then Sadie tried to, I guess, try to discredit Ruby if she comes out with this by going to Cable and being like, do you know that your wife's an alcoholic?
Speaker: Yeah, kind of random. It's like, yeah, that does appear to be abundantly clear to everybody. so Exactly. Her wine business does seem to just be her buying and drinking wine. It's a business of sorts. She's in she's in the business of drinking wine. And she's very good at it. She's an employee of the month. She's so good, honestly.
Speaker: um So yeah, Robert's still doing bit rummaging. He was doing some accounts whilst Aaron sort lingered in like a trophy hospital in the background. And he seems to have set his heart on running behind as a restaurant.
Speaker: Yeah, I am quite confused really about what Robert and Aaron's dream is because I thought that they wanted a farm. I thought they then wanted like a farm shop. But now he seems obsessed with driving the hide into the ground so that he can take it over, which is just a very different enterprise of like, if you want to be a farmer and to reclaim Sugden land, you're not also going to have time to run a restaurant and outdoor pursuit center. So like maybe choose one of them and make that your life stream.
Speaker: and he's like, we can do like a farm to table restaurant. was like, I don't know how many people want to go for grass fed steak whilst we're about to go kayaking. Yeah, it's very confusing to me.
Speaker: um i don't really get it. And I don't, I think I said this last time. i don't like how they're making Robert into this like evil villain again. i He was beginning to get wholesome. Aaron preferred him wholesome.
Speaker: We all preferred him wholesome. And now he's turning evil again. um For such low stakes. It's always stakes. like such big like they never There's no middle ground in that matter. Yeah, like at all points I just find myself thinking, at what cost?
Speaker: yeah Why are you doing that? And Aaron's not into it, except occasionally he is. like if you get audit you know Target Joe or whatever. We don't care if you take Joe down. Just leave like Nicola and Gabby and all these other people alone. Yeah, Nicola, Gabby, Laurel, all they really need is a day off and the chance to get on top of their laundry and you're like scamming them and give like, I don't know.
Speaker: One of them's got like emphysema or something. She doesn't need that. She doesn't need that. And I mean, what was the what was the thing that she was trying to sell that Laurel thought sounded disgusting? so Something with tofu. Tofu and shaved Brussels sprouts. or I was like, I mean, I like all those ingredients, so I'd probably order it. Yeah, I did think like it sounds not great, but fine.
Speaker: Yeah, it didn't sound like a meal, but it sounded like part of a meal. Yeah, but I very rarely go out for food. And I think if I was choosing a restaurant and there was like mainly that sort of thing on arrest on the menu, I would be like, should we go somewhere else?
Speaker: I guess if the whole place was vegetarian, I'd go there because of my ways. yeah um And I might end up feeling quite virtuous. Yeah. yeah is it Do you ever find that like being a vegetarian also makes you feel like you're making healthy choices when actually you're just making the same choices you make every day?
Speaker: Oh, constantly. i'm always just like, I don't know, it feels like I'm being healthier, even though what I'm getting is like slathered in fat. so It's deep fried halloumi, but it is the healthy choice. It's healthy choice. Actually, when I was in Canada recently, I did find after a few days, it because we didn't really cook, we ate out.
Speaker: everywhere um because thank you exchange rate it was really cheap for us at the moment um sorry kind of canadians uh and then after a couple days i was like i just need fresh vegetables and found this really nice like salad place in areas and i felt so virtuous there being like i'm going for my little salads which probably were covered in dressing that made them no healthier than everything else i've been eating but but still sit seed and salt maybe it's called I don't know just wander around Vancouver and look for it not Vancouver Calgary um you famously hate Calgary but that was the highlight certainly of the food scene I just knew there was a lot of nice places to eat that was what Calgary is just restaurants as far as I can tell wait that's why we haven't seen Jay in ages isn't it didn't he go to Canada
Speaker: Oh, has he gone to visit Nikhil? And I want to say Molly, maybe. okay Maybe you bring Molly back with him. Who knows? That'd be nice. can't remember I was going to say. Oh, yeah. um Did he end up taking... Gosh, I've completely forgotten her name.
Speaker: don't... Oh, Kerry. Yeah, did he end up taking Kerry? no I think he did in the end. Maybe. Maybe. We've still haven't seen it for a while. She was definitely sad that she wasn't going, but i don't know whether that was ever changed.
Speaker: No, gosh, we need to actually see what happens with these people who may or may not be going to other continents because we seem to lose track as soon as they've been mulling over. Yeah, that's so true. um I've realised we haven't spoken really at all about the Sarah Charity Mac thing, but like, honestly, we talked about it a lot last time and i don't really care.
Speaker: No, it's going around in circles now, isn't Everyone's so upset with Sarah for caring that her daughter is her aunt, but you know. Yeah, like it's just something she should apparently get over.
Speaker: So yeah, just down to a handful of strays. And I've only got one say. So do you want to do yours first? Sure. I've only got three. Moira was having a bit of like a go at Caleb when Caleb said, all you want me for is my expensive lawyers. And he's like, oh, do you want a thank you card? And it's like, well that surely the least you can do. yeah think you go Like he spends thousands of thousands of pounds getting you and your family out of prison all the time. And she seems to think it's really unreasonable of him to want any sort of gratitude, let let alone like maybe a payment plan. Yeah. You can at least buy him a drink at the pub. Yeah, true. Yeah, I forgot about the whole Moira-Sady thing as well, but I did find that quite interesting. Moira absolutely kicked off that Kane didn't tell Sadie his entire medical history. And you're like, they're not like friends.
Speaker: It was so weird. it like what does it make you feel like a big man? It's like, well, even if it does, does that bother you? really Does that bother you? Does he need to reveal to everybody who he's catching up with that he's had prostate cancer? Probably not. Probably not.
Speaker: Yeah, that was weird. That was weird. But yeah, Caleb deserves at least a thank you card.
Speaker: ah I'll do one more. like I just wrote down Moses, but like he found out that Leila is officially his sister. He does not care. Yeah, he doesn't really seem to care. And then Mac was like kicking off about Sarah telling the truth. And I was like, you've kind of just been kicking off at Sarah not telling the truth for a really long time. The one time she gives it a go, Mac's like, I can't believe you did that.
Speaker: Yeah. Like pick, pick one. Yeah. Which one are going to do? Come on. What's your stray? Um, my stray is that, uh, and it's actually something one of my colleagues told me there's ah an actor called Dean Smith who is on a podcast that one of my colleagues listens to.
Speaker: Um, and apparently Dean Smith is an actor who previously played a prison officer ages ago who flirted with Mina when she was being a serial killer. Um,
Speaker: And now he's come back into Emmerdale as a different prison officer who we've seen recently. So I can only guess it's in relation to charity. And he's now credited as like a different name, but he's still playing a prison officer.
Speaker: So that's just a little a little fun tidbit. What podcast was that? own I actually don't know. i will find out. I think it might might be sports related. Oh, gross. Okay.
Speaker: um Wow. I wonder if it was the man hung up on the person because it was a symbol of spews. I look it up. So true. He was called fast. Because he was saying needs few guests.
Speaker: I think it's about the Premier League and maybe Aston Villa, but I'm not entirely sure. Okay, we're certainly a team, isn't it? um My final stray is a little um deep dive on the horrible decor at Mandy and Paddy's house. Oh yeah, i love that. I was um reading their cushions. Of course you were.
Speaker: There's one that says, thank you home it. noticed that before Like, is this a love letter to your home? so game It seems like it was AI generation. it didn't Doesn't it just? i That was my thought. It's like, this if this was just a steel photograph, I had assumed it was, but this is a real object. Like, that exists.
Speaker: The other one I read just said, happy. Yeah, tricky. Very upsetting. also, like, obviously really upsetting, but well done to whoever, like, found that and did the set design, because that is exactly what Mandy would buy. Mandy would be going to HomeSense,
Speaker: And she would be picking out like the lamp that's in the shape of a monkey and the cushion that says, thank you home for no particular reason and being like, isn't this perfect? And she would think of something. I'm actually recording this, as you can see in an office at work where we have a cushion that I hate so much that i often hide it and it's always brought back. And it says family in big letters where life begins and love never ends.
Speaker: Isn't that awful? Yeah, that's quite tough. And why pray is it in your place of work? Are there many families in your office? We do have a weirdly high number of related people. Like, want to be a three different mother-daughter bear working here. Yeah, maybe that's, like, the cushion's origin story. Maybe. I mean, I assume someone was given it and hated and brought it in. But every time I turn it around, so I can't see that horrible thing, someone always replaces it.
Speaker: and I mean, I guess it's because we're a Christian organisation. It's the idea of, like, church family or something. But, oh, it's horrible. Yeah. horrible I think it was almost definitely an unwanted secret Santa gift that somebody never took home from the office. They were like, I don't want this. I'm leaving it here. my Might have been it at some point.
Speaker: Probably wise. I think you would probably serve up the church if you did. The other one's just got sheep on it and that's fine. I can cope with that bit more. Also very, you know, Christian. Psalm 23 coded. Amen, amen, amen.
Speaker: Right, well, that might be the nearest we get to farming in this period because I don't remember anything else farming wise. No, I don't think there's really been any. So that's that.
Speaker: Do we have time for the random character generator? We've got five minutes. think we do just about. it oh, it's our friend Liam. Who we haven't seen in a while. He popped up in the last, in like our last podcast episode. So like in the two weeks previously, didn't he? Someone told him to shut up. Yeah. Yeah. Which was a lovely moment. I think it was Mac.
Speaker: um Yeah. I think Liam is one of those characters that we do kind of love to hate. Yeah. He seems to me like he doesn't quite fit in in the village. He's quite like smarmy, maybe has like more quintessentially middle class tastes, but not in like a hunting way like the Tate's, in like a theatre way.
Speaker: Yeah, you can see, i feel like there was a story where he was dating someone and was like, let's go to the opera together. Was it Ella or someone? Maybe. And she was like, no, I'm a normal person. But he's also quite like just weird in a way that if he was a different character, would be quite like eccentric in a lovable way. But because it's Liam, it's eccentric in a not lovable way. Like his his murder mystery nights that he goes to, like, oh, it's just kind of cringey. Like that would give you the ick.
Speaker: Yeah, i find him quite creepy as a person. Like, I think originally he was just like a bit, you know, he'd come up like the p police officers or whatever just to when he needed a doctor in a scene. He did that for a few years, I think. And then they brought him in and he was like a fun character for a while. Like, you know, the sort of slightly odd person there for laughs, but then also expected to do serious stories.
Speaker: And I guess maybe he was like a young heartthrob and now he's like a middle-aged guy. So it doesn't quite... It doesn't translate as well as one would hope. Yeah, and I'm to think the relationships we've seen on camera, none of them have been especially convincing. Like the weird sort of, I love you, I hate you, I love you thing with Ella. Yeah, I mean, I was more convinced by his relationship with Ella than I am with his relationship relationship with Chaz. Yeah, fame would be the worst thing in the world.
Speaker: um I just think, yeah, um he seems like a nice enough actor, but I just don't need Liam in the village. I like his friendship with Chaz, that's the one thing I do like about him. Yeah, no, that is his one redeeming feature. I just can't imagine what character he would he would date and it'd be convincing.
Speaker: i can't think of anybody. Maybe he should just be a long-term bachelor. Yeah, maybe just go back to being a doctor who pops up occasionally. That's enough. Bad news for the actor though, isn't it If we're just like, we wish that your character was actually around less, sorry.
Speaker: Maybe he could have like an aged cat romance with Claudette or something. Oh yeah, that could be quite sweet. Yeah. I can see how putting it him in his place in a way that could benefit everyone. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. Sorry, Liam. We don't love you so much. I'm surprised you're still there to be honest. Apologies. Although um ah my friend's boyfriend sometimes sees him out in Leeds and i can't remember what bar it is, but apparently he has a a dog, quite a sweet dog. There you go. That's something to cling onto. Something to hold onto in the dark times. Your dog. Your dog.
