EP 127: Holiday Hangover

Mom Group Chat

SURPRISE. This episode was recorded on 12/26, meant to go live on 12/30… and then the holidays happened. You know how it goes. So here we are, dropping it now as a little bonus episode straight from the weird, cozy, disorienting space between Christmas and New Year’s.

In this episode of Mom Group Chat, we’re fully in the in-between. The fog. The “what day is it?” energy. The debate of all debates: do we stop drinking and try to reset our lives… or do we simply keep the party going until January tells us to stop?

We recap our Christmas days, all the plans we somehow packed into one week, and the chaos and sweetness that comes with it. Candace talks birthday plans, we reflect on how full (and tired) we are, and mostly just let the conversation wander exactly the way it does during holiday break.

No big theme. No lessons. No tidy wrap-up. Just a mish-mash, ramble-y, honest check-in from two moms trying to find their footing before real life kicks back in.

Think of this episode as a voice memo from your friends while everyone’s still in leggings, eating leftovers, and pretending January isn’t coming yet.

Keep up with the Moms and join the conversation on our socials:

Children's Reactions to Santa

00:00:31
Speaker
Evie's been so cute and she, whenever she sees Santa, she sees two things or she says two things and she says, ho, ho, ho in her little voice. And then she goes the best. She, she says Santa's the best.
00:00:47
Speaker
I thought you were going say so Merry Christmas because Margo does that. I didn't teach her that. She must've learned that at school. it was I did it the other day. I said, ho, ho, ho. And she goes, Merry Christmas. i was like, Oh, where'd you learn that? so No, Evie doesn't say Merry Christmas. It's just ho, ho, ho and the best.
00:01:05
Speaker
That's the new slogan. Oh, the best. The best. at Yeah, yeah. Santa had a rebrand in this. that that's his new That's his new slogan. That's so funny. um My kids had like two interactions with Santa and the first one was fine and got the picture, but he was like standoffish. Like he didn't ask about gifts or anything. It was like, all right, this is content, Santa. We're just getting the pic and we're out. Like,
00:01:33
Speaker
Whatever. but then the second one. didn't He wasn't a. um Wait. He wasn't a. um um Like a method acting Santa. oh This guy was in and out. Get your pick. Get your fucking kid off my knee and go.
00:01:49
Speaker
But second Santa. Interesting. talk too much to them to the point where Margo wouldn't leave my arms. And when he asked what she wanted, she was like, frozen. He's like, do you like Elsa on? And she was frozen everything. And I was like, okay, good for Margo. Graydon hid behind me, wouldn't go near him. And then he was like, I want to die. He whispered, I want a diorama.
00:02:12
Speaker
and an arctic fox and then santa couldn't fucking hear him and he goes dinosaurs and grayden turns beet red because he didn't want to correct santa but he's also like i think of like the kid in the christmas story where he's like he stops himself on the slide and he's like no i want the bb gun because grayden was like do I correct him? Do I not? And his face was turning her so red. I said, oh my God, this is a disaster.
00:02:38
Speaker
a disaster. Oh my gosh. That is so funny. So, so did he correct him? I did. I was like, let me talk for you toots. He wants this, yeah this, this. And then we walked away. Like Graydon was more interested in the cookie after the fact. i was like, I have, why are all my kids food motivated? My old, my dog was food motivated. Like, can we chill?
00:02:59
Speaker
Do I mind not feeding y'all enough? Oh my God. ah Alice is also only interested in the sweets. Like when I swear what got her through our first visit with Santa at breakfast with Santa at school was that she got a candy cane at the end.
00:03:14
Speaker
Oh, yeah you know, she brought that up to me when I was there. candy cane what did she specifically she goes oh yeah yeah she was like is it the spicy one or the sweet one like she knew the difference there's two different kinds and i was like alice how do you know that no like can i tell you i have never ever given that girl a candy cane i have no no idea i have no idea no idea where's she getting these santa the best i guess she's already been bamboozled obviously because she she
00:03:45
Speaker
had had the sweet one went to get another one and was like, yikes. What is this? Um, yeah, no, no she's definitely, i was there the day that she got a candy cane ah from school and it was peppermint and her face was one of betrayal. She was like, wait a damn minute. This is not good.
00:04:10
Speaker
She was not into it. She likes, and then ah someone, probably my mother, honestly, gave her one of those Skittles candy canes that are rainbow. yeah.
00:04:21
Speaker
yeah you ever had a Skittles candy cane? No. Maybe. yeah i am sure. ah Yeah. Well, of course, that Alice was like, well, hell yeah, i like that. so but like i don't But back when you were here in the middle of November, I don't know where she had had a candy cane by that because like- It was top mind. I don't know. was yeah top of

Stocking Stuffers Dilemmas

00:04:45
Speaker
mind. Do you remember no again growing up and Harry Potter was like obviously huge, still is, getting Birdie Botts beans, every flavored beans in your stocking? Because I did.
00:04:57
Speaker
We never, we never did that. We never got those. Like the ones that, the ones that taste like vomit and stuff. was just like every flavor. So it was the fun game of yeah what did I get? you would go one at a time. And it was just like the most fun, like that's a core memory for Christmas for me.
00:05:17
Speaker
Really? We never did that. But we also weren't like we liked the movies, but we didn't read the books like we weren't like a huge, huge. I would say I'm probably more into Harry Potter now than I was in like school. feel like it was just a big thing back then. No, it was. i remember other people having it. Yeah. I remember other people having it for sure. I think I must have asked for it because I was like, that is so cool. I want to do that. And I just yeah specifically remember buttered popcorn being like almost a yellowy white. Uh-huh. I do remember that.
00:05:52
Speaker
And it was so fun I just remember, like, the biggest thing for me I remember is that there was a vomit-flavored one. and annex And for me, personally, like, that would have, like, i it would have been something I never would have come back from. Like, to eat something that's vomit-flavored, I can't. There might have been a skunk one.
00:06:16
Speaker
I don't know. Maybe I'm pulling that out of my ass, but... The ratio to nasty and and and good was like, it was like 80, 30, 20, 80, 30, 80, 20. Like it was a risk It's not for me.
00:06:32
Speaker
um i was like thinking like stockings. Yeah. Stockings. so just So yeah, I was going to say they're so hard, especially in this age with like little ones. I think that I, I just had a really hard time with stockings this year, especially after our cavity fiasco. I'm really trying not to get too much candy And I've also been an absolute freakazoid about brushing our teeth. Like we're brushing our teeth four times a day. ah Like if they have anything remotely sweet, yeah we're brushing our teeth. And um ah even though like there's a high chance that actually had nothing to do with her, you know, cavity, but whatever.
00:07:16
Speaker
um I wanted to fill the stockings with stuff that was not sweets and candy. But then also I don't want to fill the stocking with small junk that's going to collect in my house. So it's like, I just actually, am mean, I don't, I don't love stockings and yeah stuffing stockings. It's, um, A bit stressful. I feel like growing up, it was always like the things you need, the socks, the deodorant, the toothpaste, toothbrush. It was always like, um somehow my mom fit like a sleeve of Q-tips in that bitch like every year. Oh my God. I used to get that too. Yeah. That is so funny. she gets me one every year and I'm like halfway through the one. It's just like, i have a Costco stash of Q-tips. um But for Graydon and Margo, like, he asked for some little things. Like, he was specifically dinosaur sunglasses. And so, like, that goes in there. Like, I got Margo, like, a little cookie hairspray for, like, Cindy Lou Who and, like, a silk pillowcase. So, like, stuck that in there. Like, little tiny things. I got them, like, a little coloring book sticker things. I got them Grinch tattoos. Like, just tiny little things that I know that they'll...
00:08:39
Speaker
like, but oh my God, it's sometimes at Target. What I saw was, um, I don't know, just cute little candy things. i'm like, I want to buy that for them, but I know. know just I know. Wow. You just gave me some good ideas. I'm writing it down really for next year. socks well the sunglasses specifically i'm like oh that would have been so smart because like they are losing the one like we actually use sunglasses quite a bit and they're always losing them you know um this time of year the sun is so harsh like he asked for them every time we're in the car i'm like i get it i can't see either
00:09:19
Speaker
No, really? i this is i just had this conversation with Vinny about like, am I getting old or like, am I getting old? Because I feel, first of all, driving at night, I can't see a damn fucking thing. I'm scared. I'm scared. I'm scared. I cannot see a thing. And then- Driving during the day, the sun is so intense. I'm like, i can't see a thing. So I'm just driving blind all the time. Literally, I'm like, the sun's about to give me a migraine. I swear I get more this time of year just because the piercing light. I'm like, all a sudden I'm seeing like that.
00:09:57
Speaker
What is it? Like the prism of colors. I'm like, Oh God, here comes that starburst. I'm getting a migraine. I'm like the sun and the light activates it every time. And God, it's just bad this time of year for me.

Holiday Traditions and Changes

00:10:11
Speaker
I know it's tough. Oh my gosh. But so we've made it through Christmas. We like, I,
00:10:18
Speaker
like i i want to say that the holiday holiday craziness is over but like i don't know about you but it's like kind of still the middle of it holiday hangover which is that in between where you're like do i just keep partying because what am i doing right now do i stop what am i doing like we still have new year's you still have your birthday like the hangover For me, it's just like open a beer and keep going. Me too. What did I even ask?
00:10:51
Speaker
It's just we'll reset on January 5th, okay? Like we're not I'm not going to reinvent the wheel right now. i do I will say I do take some pockets of time to like do my little end of year stuff that I always do. But as far as like drinking goes and like health goes, like We're done. Sorry, sweetie. I be eatingen we're dying or eating. or' time Yeah. done caring. Yeah.
00:11:15
Speaker
We'll revisit on January 5th. I love how you pushed it out to the 5th. Like, let's give us some buffer. I just know the 5th is the Monday. So that's why I i just know. um But yeah, we and I feel like we've had so many back-to-back holiday things. Like,
00:11:33
Speaker
I had I always my mom and I have this tradition where we do a dinner together every Christmas season ever since I've had kids. So this is probably my we might have done it even when I was pregnant with Alice. But um this is like our fourth year doing this, I think. And we just do a her and I dinner to like It's my mom and I. are you Yeah. My mom and I are so interesting because we see each other almost every day. But we with the kids, like we don't have a lot of like time just to like talk about what what we want. It's like so much talk about the kids, you know. So I always feel like doing a dinner just her and I and we like we drag that bitch out. We like have multiple cocktails. We like order appetizers. We like really lean in, you know. And, um so we did that, which was boozy. And then the very next morning, like literally not even 12 hours later was another breakfast with Santa that was boozy. And then, and then we're getting into like Christmas Eve boozy for us. We do Noche Buena with Vinny's family, which is like their big Christmas celebration is Christmas Eve. And then we have Christmas day boozy. And then,
00:12:47
Speaker
Here we are. Let's keep this train going. No, I should have. I should have opened a glass of open a glass of wine opened. Oh, I did get these in my stocking. I got like, um, like single bottles. At Target.
00:13:06
Speaker
No, a Bonanza, which is like one of my favorites. That's a nice wine. Yeah. They have, they have like single servings of Bonanza that Vinny put in my stocking. And which is so i love cause I, that what that's what holds me back from like opening a bottle of wine a lot of the It's like, I don't really want a whole bottle sitting around. Yeah. Yeah.
00:13:28
Speaker
So anyways, I should have done that today. I should have just kept it going. Well, I love that. So sweet. um Well, for the first time ever. I just don't like updates.
00:13:41
Speaker
You're good The first time ever. I'm an actual adult. Can I just say that? Because I hosted Christmas Eve at my house and Christmas morning, which is not our normal tradition. Wait, you did not tell me this. What do you mean? You're always at, you've literally talked in past episodes about how, like, you've been like, I will not bend on this. We will go to my mom's on Christmas day. Chris does not have a say. So that rhymed.
00:14:09
Speaker
What changed? What happened? It is like, it was a big, it's me. Like ah every, this is me, right? So i don't know. It's the tradition to me like means so much. I don't know if it's because like I'm the youngest, like the last one in my immediate family on both sides. So it's like, I want it to be this way for the rest of my life. I don't know why. um But this year my grandparents moved to assisted living so they're not at their house anymore so that like changed everything because we would always go there for breakfast which is a a road I don't want to like go down right now because it's emotional um but um after talking with my parents and like just thinking of all the gifts that we have now that the kids are older and like lugging all that shit back and forth to clarksville we were like this is just easier and then once i kind of got that in my mind like me personally like Okay. Let the old tradition go. Let's start a new one. You have your own family. It's okay. It's okay. My parents were like ready and willing to come here to spend the night.
00:15:22
Speaker
And that was a big part of it. I never wanted them to be alone. Like yeah I've always just been there with them, even with my brother or sister not there. So it's like, just come be with us. And they were like, yes. And then I'm like, well, i might as well host so my sisters and um her family and then like my brother and his family for Christmas Eve, which honestly, like I was so excited about, like once I got in the mindset that this was happening, I'm like, I'm an adult. Like this is so fun. um and decorating the dining room, which we never sit in.
00:15:56
Speaker
Um, and then, um, just having prime rib and all the sides, which Chris is like, so into food and cooking, like that part is his. And I get to do all the pretty stuff, like the decorations, the cookies and like the traditionally things that I want to do. Um, and then like we did breakfast the next morning, which is marshmallow puffs. Hello. Had to do that. We had Mocha Punch, which is so delicious. And I was like, okay, this is something I realized too. Like, you know how you said like when you came out of the flood, you're like, where did all my shit go? I'm like, oh my God, I'm hosting 12 people.
00:16:35
Speaker
I don't have water glasses. I don't have 12 forks. I was like, I'm ill prepared. I had to order everything. I had to find like my set of wedding fucking forks for that I had 12 years ago because we lost some in the move.
00:16:55
Speaker
Had to buy a whole new set. Had to buy- Are they still around? Yep. Found them on Bed Bath & Beyond. God bless them. Because we looked up we looked up some of our wedding stuff recently and it's not made anymore.
00:17:07
Speaker
Yeah. So- And like, i was like, okay, well, I want like glass, nice water glasses. So I got some at Williams-Sonoma because I was like, if I'm going to potentially be doing this going forward, like I want to have the set. So I had to buy all kinds of shit. And that's when I was like, mom, I don't have a punch bowl. i need a punch bowl. Yeah. um recruiting everyone to help with that. um But the decorating was like the best part. So that's where I lean. yeah Oh my gosh. I want to see pics. Did you take some pictures? I'll post.
00:17:43
Speaker
I need to anyway. Okay. I'll do that today. ah Well, that's so exciting. i like envy. envy you hosting because I would love that because I think the kids would be most comfortable in our house. Like I, our Christmas Eve, like Noche Buena with Vinny's family was at the West Shore Yacht Club, but this time it was outside by the pool. Okay.
00:18:07
Speaker
That's nice. Is it because i have kids who want to go in the pool? Oh, that's true. And dude, it was 70. Dude, it is hot here. It is in the 80s and on Christmas, and like it's a tank top Christmas. Which honestly, kind of nice. Because like in the years past, like they couldn't go out. Well, I know. But like, it's kind of nice with like the cousins and everything. It's just like, go play outside for a second. Like we've been stuck inside for so long. I'm like, do you forget what grass feels like? Like, get out there. But yeah, it's it was a warm one. And I do want to host. I feel like it'd be fun. And then the other thing I'm envious about is that Chris handles food and you handle decor because if we were to host, I'd have to handle both. I would be spinning like a top.
00:18:56
Speaker
So. Well, he just enjoys that. Like I offered to get sides from other like places like there's a New York butchery shop here, but they make tons of sides like cream corn, green bean casserole. But he had the week off. So has the week off. So he's able to prep, which he has never done since the day we've been married. He's always worked around Christmas. So this is like the first year he's actually had off and is

Reflections on Family and Aging

00:19:23
Speaker
so nice. I'm like, wow, it's been so helpful. Like, To not feel like it's all on me all the time. So it's just been a Nice nice city. Nice.
00:19:36
Speaker
Yeah. Good. um So are you hungover like me or no? Always. I stay. Like, did I even mention that I was like gone to California like two weeks prior? so No, because we haven't recorded it since then. so tell us about it. i mean, i was there for work, but I mean, did I act like I was 25? Sure.
00:19:59
Speaker
Because who doesn't when you're in Palm Springs, California with your work friends? so Yeah. Well, and pretend like you're a Coachella. Every night was a theme night. um One of our really good friends from our sorority won an award and I was so excited for her. um and she happens to work at the same company as me. So that was so thrilling. um And then i dressed as Dumb and Dumber one night, which was really fun with my friend. And we won Best Costume Award. So that was like the best night ever. um I don't know it was just like great to like let my hair down a little bit because we've gone for a really long time yeah like I know it's work but it's like a little bit of a vacation too you know these are people I've worked with for a really long time so you get to like catch up with people all over the country and um yeah there's like different activities so it's just like so nice to like hang out for four days I'm like wow
00:20:56
Speaker
Love this for me in the middle of December. It kind of got me out of Christmas mode, though. Like it was 88 there. i was like, OK, I'm like looking at palm trees like I forgot it was even Christmas there for a second. Then I came home and it was for freezing, but now it's warm again. So.
00:21:14
Speaker
Well, that's like how how I feel about living in Florida. You really have to be intentional about Christmas time if you want to like feel Christmas spirit because you walk outside and this it's sunny and the palm trees are blowing in the wind and you're like, I'm sorry, it's the 4th of July. and like, you know what I mean? So it's, ah you have to be intentional about it.
00:21:40
Speaker
Well, it's like the Corona commercial. You just wrap that palm tree in lights. and We do. We have a palm tree in the front of our house and it is wrapped in lights. That is so wild. Like our trees here are just barren. A Floridian Christmas.
00:21:54
Speaker
Must be nice. Actually, our grass is looking better than ever, truly. ah we've had a We've had a decent amount of rain in the past couple weeks. was going to say, maybe it's because you watered it to death.
00:22:08
Speaker
No, we had we stopped that real quick. I don't know if I should tell that story on here, but we... yeah It's fine. We don't do that anymore. They were just trying to make their lawn look nice. Let's just say that.
00:22:25
Speaker
Whoopsie. Merry Christmas. And that's why everyone got a ah couple less Christmas gifts this year. Oh my God. I'm so, that's so funny. Um, okay. Now that we're like past this hump, how are we feeling about your 35 B day? kind Yep. I turned 35 here in a day or so. i feel kind of weird. Cause I don't really have many plans. Like I always, like God, I know.
00:22:59
Speaker
I wish you would. That'd be fun. See you tomorrow. on it But also I don't have any plans. So like, I don't know Other than i booked Vinny and I are going to do a dinner at row, which we went to with Chris and you, the sushi place, which we love.
00:23:14
Speaker
I will say this year was interesting because my birthday falls on a Monday and a lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays. Like, Oh, like, ah like some of the nicer ones. Like I had looked at Roka and like some of my favorite, like nicer restaurants here and all of them are closed on Monday. So I kind of feel like I had slim pickings. Um, and and I toyed with the idea of having a dinner party, but I just was like, Oh, that feels like more things on my to-do list. And if I had planned more ahead of time, it just felt like it was going to be like last minute stress. Um, Yeah.
00:23:50
Speaker
So whatever it is, what it is. I, uh, we're going to go to dinner at row, but the morning, like Vinny has that day off. Um, and obviously the girls are out of school, so I don't know. I'm gonna, I gotta figure out what I want to do. vit Vinny keeps asking me like, what do you want to do? And I'm like,
00:24:08
Speaker
I don't know. By the time it's birthday, I'm always, me too, by the time it's my birthday, I'm like, I don't want to do anything. I'm like, oh my God. It's hard around holidays. More than anything, I just want to nap.
00:24:22
Speaker
I was going to say though, like, I know you always feel this way this year. But it's kind of like how we were saying, like, we're still in that like limbo of like, do I keep the party going? And you're like right in the smack dab of keep the party going. So it's like an excuse to do something. So say, if you get that last minute wild hair, just have some friends over.
00:24:43
Speaker
I know. That is the other thing I thought about is or what held me back from hosting something. Because then I was like, what if I just did like a cocktails and appetizers type thing at at our house? um But so many of my like closest girlfriends specifically are out of town. Oh, man.
00:25:02
Speaker
Yeah. So that's what held me back because I'm like, I don't really like don't get me wrong. i could I still have people to invite over to that. But like that that That event feels like it's for the girlies, you know? And like I would want like my closest girlfriends there. So I don't know. I'm back. can't get myself out it. can always like a last minute like, what are you doing today?
00:25:22
Speaker
You know? Yeah, true. So we'll see. so Yeah. But I'm excited about 35. I don't feel 35. Oh, wait, I do have to tell the story because it made my whole day, but we were at a Christmas party.
00:25:39
Speaker
Like before Christmas, we had a tacky sweater party with our friends And there was like a friend of a friend, like she had a friend from college visiting her. So he came to the party with her. He's like a gay guy. And him and i totally hit it off.
00:25:54
Speaker
We love the gays. Yeah. And we were just chatting all things Bravo. And him and I just ended up talking all night. um, Someone mentioned my birthday and I was like, oh, my my birthday is, you know, on the 29th or whatever. And he was like, oh, how old are you turning? And I was like, 35. And he grabbed my arm and he was like, I would have bet money that you were like 26, 27. Oh, yeah.
00:26:17
Speaker
ah love you. You do. And I was like, oh, good. It's not fair. I was like, I love you much. I was like, we are best friends. No one's ever said that to me. Maybe my attitude is 25, the face giving leather.
00:26:41
Speaker
no ah No, no, no, no, not at all. But I was so thrilled with that compliment. I was like, oh my God, thank you so much. It's true. um So yeah, I don't know. I i don't know what I'm doing with my birthday. I feel good about 35. I'm feeling better than I have in a really long time. I feel like life is like more settled than it's been in the past two birthdays. So I'm just excited about my year of the fire horse, you know? The fire horse, baby. I agree. It's going to be a good year for us. um Yeah.
00:27:14
Speaker
And ah like, that is so funny that you said that you feel settled for the first time because that's how I feel. I'm like grounded with the kids. Like they're a little older. Do they fight tooth and nail every single day? Yes. That is a daily battle, but it's like a different feeling. Like they can kind of do their own thing and I'm good. So it's just like, wow, it's me time again. Yeah.
00:27:39
Speaker
It's so nice to be here. It's freaking nice. um that like The way I feel going into this year like makes me question having a third baby because I feel like it would kick up dust. Please. Don't worry. I'm not questioning. I'm not doing this whole back and forth. I know we're going to have a third baby, but I'm just being honest about the fact that it's it makes me nervous about kicking up the dust. Well, it will. And and that's just something. yeah And you're prepared for it. Like, you know that that it will. And you're going to feel like whatever for a little bit. But then two years from then, back down to settled again. Yeah. See you at 45. I'm just kidding. With new tits.
00:28:19
Speaker
Oh, you getting some new ones, girl? I mean, I will. That's like they, you guys, they are like... even worse. still like and I actually didn't see them when we were together. I forgot. I know. I cannot believe I did not show you my titties when you were here not to look like the first trip ever. You haven't seen him, honestly.
00:28:39
Speaker
um But I they're really bad. And like when I lean over you guys, they are like little tubular deflated balloons. Like and actually Vinny said that.
00:28:52
Speaker
look' see Like like ah he's a skater boy when he saw he's like tubular. No, like literally they're like deflated balloons. And he he wasn't saying it in a way that he was like insulting me. He was saying it in a way that's like it's crazy. Like bodies are so crazy how they like look so different.
00:29:09
Speaker
But he knows we're align tired're aligned. i know. I'm going to get pregnant one more time and these will fill right back up and be juicy again for one more hurrah. And then I got to breastfeed a baby.
00:29:20
Speaker
hope Maybe we'll see. And then, and then I'm going to get myself a new set of Yiddies. And then look, and then it'll be time for our 40th. And then we're going to on a trip.
00:29:36
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And I'm also having a wedding size 40th birthday party. I know I've already talked about this. Oh, no, you have not. You have not talked about that. Really? It's so funny. I talked about this at the Christmas party with that, with my new best friend. brand And, and he, I was like, you'll be invited.
00:29:54
Speaker
You have, I've definitely talked you about this. You have never said wedding size 40th. Okay. Okay. My birthday, obviously it falls at a weird time. I'm four days after Christmas, two days till New Year's. And it's just, I've never been a birthday girl for that reason. It's like a weird time. Right. And I just feel like if there was ever a time for me to just like blow it out and have the party of all parts, like I'm going cash every birthday girl card I've never used for my 40th birthday And I want to have a New Year's Eve. Like it'll be a New Year's Eve party. Like I'm going to send out, I'm going to send out save the dates. Like that's, that's the level I'm talking. I want everyone I've ever known to be there. It's going to be like DJ, DJ,
00:30:42
Speaker
Like, and I want it to be like, I don't know the theme, but I want it to be like great Gatsby level glam. Okay. Like New Year's Eve. We'll count down to the new year. Like drink, like open bar. Because it'll be 2030.
00:30:56
Speaker
So it's like You're so right. Whoa. Yeah. Yeah. So it will be open bar, like amazing food. Like I, like I want wedding level. Like I want to be carried in, in a cake or something. Okay. Like I wanted, I'm just going to be so extra. And I've already told many of this. I've just been like manifesting this for years. Like I'm not having anything for my birthday any other year, but on my 40th birthday, I'm cashing it all in.
00:31:27
Speaker
You're inspiring me. Like, do you remember, I just remember like growing up over the hill was like the 40 year old. Right. mean Like, do I bring that?
00:31:38
Speaker
um It's probably still there, but like, do I bring that back in like a very Halloweeny way and being an IB brought in in a casket? ah
00:31:48
Speaker
And then I come out like Dracula. Yeah. Wait, I'm dead. No pun intended. and oh my God. That is so funny. And so you, i I'm not, I'm not going to do that. i think some people would be like, Whoa, but it's normal for me. Like that's like normal.
00:32:10
Speaker
That's normal. Yeah. That's like not, that's every other day. But, um, I was thinking like a trip, but don't know. I mean, I'm down for a trip too. everyone's turning 40 that year that we know. So it's like, or maybe not.
00:32:24
Speaker
It's like hit or miss. um So it's like, will we be over all the like 40th birthday trips? Almost like how everyone wanted to do a 30th. And i don't know. We'll see. It's like a hard time of year too. Like I'm in hurricane season. So it's like, you have to go kind of far South if you're tripping.
00:32:43
Speaker
Yeah. But we could like go to Italy. Yeah. Oh, shit. Did you see where, okay, this is a side rail. um You know, our our good, good friend, Natalie, with the Nat Note. um Her really good friend in Houston, Bailey, who owns um Biscuit Home. know you're...
00:33:04
Speaker
Yes. she hosts a crazy Christmas party every year. She opted out because her 40th birthday is next year. And she i i saw rumblings of her 40th birthday party and she rented out an Orient Express train, the entire train, like a trip from like Scotland to England.
00:33:26
Speaker
Like one of those. is dream. Like a Belmont train. Yes. Yes. I was like. Okay. Inspired. Like, can you?
00:33:37
Speaker
and i would cry. What is? oh my God. I have so many questions. You know, that's like $7,000 person. like that is. What?
00:33:49
Speaker
That is so crazy. First The amount of wealth. Natalie, you're listening. going say. What's up? Like, and okay. She owns Biscuit Home. Is that her only job? And what does her husband do? Her husband. I don't know. There's not me stalking these people. I'm sounding like a psycho, but they're selling their family farm in Texas for like $28 million. dollars Like it's like they got.
00:34:15
Speaker
Okay.
00:34:18
Speaker
Noted. Yeah. Okay. So how am I going to have the party of my dreams with my current financial status? I don't know. But i like I just am manifesting it that it's going to happen. And I i don't know how I'm going to get there, but I'm going to get there. I should do the math of like and set a budget and then divide that budget by the amount of like weeks and save weekly. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
00:34:48
Speaker
Or we can do it. People are like, have you saved for retirement? No, but I have saved for my 40th birthday party that will be 300 plus people. Let's um start a GoFundMe now and then we'll just start saving up. Would you like to attend Candace's birthday bash?
00:35:05
Speaker
Here's $10 year. Vinny said that. He was like, because it's New Year's Eve, you probably could have people buy a $20 ticket. and like and I'm like, I don't really want i don't know like you don't want to i don't want to have someone buy a ticket to my birthday party. Okay. Dang. Like, sure.
00:35:21
Speaker
honest Like if, like if anything, I would want to have some sort of like, sure. Donate to this charity that's related something. I don't know. Sure. i feel like, I feel like rich people do that. Right. Yeah. For taxes.
00:35:39
Speaker
I don't know. Anyway, that is crazy. And I just like had to tell you. That's crazy ah because you and I have looked at the Belmond train. Well, it is a dream of mine. Like maybe that's what maybe it's just me and Chris go. That's fine. But that's been a dream of mine forever to go on that. And the fact that someone thought, wow, let's rent that out for my birthday is like the the thought behind that is crazy.
00:36:07
Speaker
Crazy good. Crazy niche. Wow. Obsessed. Wow. Okay. Hold on. I just opened it up. I just wanted to see all the different places. Don't even remind me. Because I remember I looked for it or they have one in Thailand and we had like low-key talked about it or well you said you were gonna stay there on your honeymoon and I i was like was like Candace I've always been at Belmont you were staying at a Belmont hotel yeah we were well it didn't we didn't end up going because of COVID but you know
00:36:45
Speaker
Well, I was like, my God, shooky by that because we, the only time, the only reason I heard about it was because Chris and I ate lunch at the Hotel Splendido Portofino and it was the most beautiful curated hotel I'd ever been to. And then I became obsessed with the Belmont brand.
00:37:04
Speaker
and noticed that they had like trains but they're like so luxurious so cool like almost like old-timey like how you would have dinner and champagne and there's a piano it's just like uh the vibes are popping so cute Wait, I can't really find like where exactly the trains are. It's just showing, oh, trains. Okay. I'm an idiot. I found it. ah The word trains?
00:37:27
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Are you doing like real-time research? Yes, I am doing real-time research. Okay. That could, well, if you're having your 40th extravaganza, like that's a cute trip. Like a London Orient Express Belmont train to Scotland is a perfect October, November birthday. Listen, don't think, don't let my birthday, I will be there for you too. Okay. I'm just manifesting that I'm going to be wealthy enough somehow. I don't know how this is actually happening, but I just am choosing to believe that it's.
00:38:01
Speaker
I don't know why I was thinking tropic when I'm not a tropic girl. Like, yes, London is the move for me. That's where i need to be.
00:38:12
Speaker
There's a lot of options here. Yeah, there are. It goes all over. um But the British Pullman one looks... I know. Yeah, there's the Britannic Explorer, but this British Pullman is Discover more. Don't mind if I do.
00:38:28
Speaker
Wow. Okay. Anyways, just like normalize manifesting your dream birthday for your 40th. Okay. That's i still five years. Five. I have five whole years to save manifest plan.
00:38:45
Speaker
Get famous enough to have it sponsored. ah I don't know. like oh Imagine like going back to this and it's you saying all that. Well, I feel like it's good. I just am somewhat. I just think that's it's going to happen. Like I'm going to figure it out. It's going to happen. It's going to be the party of my dreams. Yeah.
00:39:01
Speaker
You deserve it. I deserve it. And there will be i'm going to hire a bunch of nannies so that if you have kids, you can just bring them. We'll drop them at a playroom. You know, what's crazy is our kids will be.
00:39:13
Speaker
i know. eight, which is so sad. No. Oh, no. They're the babysitter. That's crazy. Not my babies.
00:39:26
Speaker
So anyways, no plans this year, but catch me in five years. Catch me in five years. yeah what's What's crazy is for that, I really am going to have to start planning a year plus in advance because because it's New Year's Eve. like If I want a venue that's like big enough to handle and like reserve that for New Year's Eve, it's going to have to be years in advance is what's crazy.
00:39:51
Speaker
Yep. And yeah, photographer. Yeah. Yeah. It's a wedding. It's a wedding. It's my wedding. And guess what? My wedding experience was a little fucked up because of COVID. So this is also a redemption arc for that.
00:40:07
Speaker
my God, your wedding was fab. No, it was. It ended up being fine, but it was like a year later than I thought. And like, you know, yeah I didn't get to walk down the aisle in front of everyone.
00:40:19
Speaker
The best part. There are some things I missed. There's so much. um The wedding video. I'm not aware to be fat in the wedding video. In yours. Because I was having so much fun. just didn't make an appearance in Candace's wedding video at all.
00:40:39
Speaker
my God. That's funny. yeah it's it's I love my wedding video so much. I wasn't there. We've got that to the budget for the 40th. We've got to do a new one.
00:40:51
Speaker
Oh, my God. Too funny. I love how this like took a turn into like... birthdays but I know well still got a couple more days in 2025 anything that you're leaving in 2025 you're not taking into 2026 I don't know I've never really thought about it
00:41:17
Speaker
like what are you thinking I don't know and great I don't have an answer either I'm leaving.

Looking Forward to the New Year

00:41:27
Speaker
My husband. Oh my I love how last episode you're like, ah my Rose is Vinny. Now I'm leaving. Literally, we are we really are better than ever. Truly love him so much. I was just joking. But I'm leaving you. Goodbye. No.
00:41:42
Speaker
um No, I don't know the answer to that either. But I am going to just keep this party going. It's 2 o'clock. I think I might...
00:41:54
Speaker
