Mom Group Chat
Mom Group Chat

1 plays · Sep 1, 2026

September is here, the kids are back in school, and obviously we have a LOT to catch up on. This week, we’re sitting down for a classic bestie catch-up and chatting about everything that’s been happening lately. Whitney recaps Margot’s birthday and birthday party, Candace gives the full back-to-school update, including a little hand, foot & mouth scare 😅, and shares her latest personality trait: learning how to play mahjong. Plus, Whitney is getting ready for her upcoming trip to Nantucket and is VERY excited about it. No major agenda this week, just two best friends catching up on life, motherhood, travel, birthday chaos, and all the random things in between. Grab a coffee (or a glass of wine) and come hang with the girlies. 🤍 Keep up with the Moms and join the conversation on our socials: 📸 Instagram: @‌momgroupchat [https://www.instagram.com/momgroupchat/] 🎵 TikTok: @‌momgroupchat [https://www.tiktok.com/@momgroupchat] Questions/comments/need to vent? Speaker: There's no right way to do it.

Speaker: Oh, we're going to get into it. What up, moms? My name Whitney Williams, and I'm here with my best friend, Candice, and we're the Mom Group Chat Podcast. Bonjour. Jingle jangle. Do you ever get those blooper reels of that?

Speaker: I cannot tell you the movie for the life of me. Paul Rudd is in it. And I do know what you're talking about. It's um I love you, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's the blooper where they're in like the sword fight and the guy comes up and he's like jingle jangle. i don't know why.

Speaker: so funny funny. I just got a blooper reel of that the other day. I probably watch it once a week and I don't, I never swipe. I watch it every time. i love it. It's so funny. I love hearing like things, like if there are videos that come up for you often that I watch always watch every time. yeah One of them is so random, but I wonder if you've ever seen it. It's it's of a sister and a brother who are fighting over a trucker hat.

Speaker: No, I've never seen it. And she's like explaining to him in the mirror of like, this is the kind of – I wanted to be taller. She's like so serious. She's taller. And her brother's in the background like mocking her going, right, right. And he's like just being a fucking goober in the back and is being so funny.

Speaker: ah I don't know. It's just one of those videos that's like so – Like it's nothing but it's everything. And it's so funny. And it's – They definitely – must put it in trial reels all the time.

Speaker: and I watch it through through every time. Yeah, that's yeah is's exactly what it was. I watch that one every single time. All the bloopers. i get a lot of office bloopers that.

Speaker: Always good. Yeah, it's just so funny. And it's always like Jim jim cracking up at everything. And he's so funny. so What a cutie. I love him. He's one of my celeb crushes. Oh, ever wrote i like remember it being Julia's, our roommates. Yeah, we both loved him. Okay. Because back then, i didn't he like wasn't in anything that I watched. And so I remember her liking him. And I was like, who is that?

Speaker: He also got like a major glow up after that show. He was like hot after that. And now he's married to Emily Blunt. Yeah. Yeah, and she's cute. But she's had work done recently. Everyone's like talking about it. Yeah, everyone's talking about like her face being different. from Devil Wears Yeah. yeah I haven't seen our, it I mean, I definitely have seen promo from that movie, but I don't remember thinking like, oh, she's had crazy work done.

Speaker: They all start to look like that, like they've overdone. You know, I don't know. I remember like back in the day when someone had plastic surgery, you were like, oh my God, you look like a cat. Like their face was so pulled, but now everyone looks like that. And I'm like, am I just numb to that? Or i don't know. there's Yeah, there's some crazy shit happening, but there's also some people who have had really good work done, like Emma Stone.

Speaker: oh yeah. I feel like I said Kris Jenner, Emma Stone, same realm. yeah yeah like they've whoever is did emma stone's face lift like that's who i want on my roster which how old is she why did she do that she got like just the babiest of lifts and i don't know it did it worked for her it really did it was subtle yeah youthful and like oh and lindsey lohan Yeah, she looks a little scary, I think, to me. Actually, sorry, you're right.

Speaker: Her latest one. Yeah, I'm like, she's back. looked scary for a while, and then she, like, had a rebirth, it seems. And like Hilary Duff looks good. Yeah. Hilary Duff is one of the better or best aging celebs in the game, in my opinion. Wow. She still is hot. Vinny now says that that's his celebrity crush. Oh, wow. Who did it used to be?

Speaker: He used to say Blake Lively. And I'm like, I look fucking nothing like her. So that's an insult. oh my god he's into blondes yeah i'm like who are you well it's okay because chris likes dark hair maybe we should swap it always seems like and vinnie's personalities are more similar and i don't think yeah i yeah but i don't think i think you and vinnie wouldn't like work together nothing would happen for real

Speaker: For real. You're right. Never mind. Sorry, Vinny. You're out. ah He would probably keep the house cleaner than ah Chris does because Vinny's cleaner than I am. We'd fight over the chores. Cute. That's so cute. And y'all would live in a bomb shelter? We would. That's so funny.

Speaker: I was going to say something about celebrities and now I forgot. Oh, oh, I'm back. Speaking of Chris's first celebrity crush ever, Dolly Parton.

Speaker: RIP. Holy moly. Oh, my God. He's a titty guy, huh? Oh, that's another thing. Brown hair, big boob. Couldn't be me. Okay. Okay, well. Sorry to disappoint you, Chris, but you married the opposite ah what you you like.

Speaker: Oh, my God. That is funny. Well, yeah. I feel like if anyone, i mean, because obviously, like, Dolly Parton's, like, was 80, and so she's so much older than us. So my thought is if him as a teenager or child was, like, hard eyes for Dolly Parton, it's, like, hard eyes for titties.

Speaker: i I 100% think so. Yeah. um And he also liked Shania Twain. i don't know. he he loved her. Over map. He's all over the map.

Speaker: Yeah, for real. But yeah, Tennessee is unwell. Yeah. like ah That's so sad She was such a person, good soul. I'm really sad. i was really sad to get that news. Vinny's actually the one who told me he said Dolly Parton died. And I said, I responded, no, in all caps.

Speaker: Yeah. No, i was how was at work and i started having like I started sweating and panicking and I was with people that like are not from Tennessee because they had like flown into town and I was like, get out of my way. i got to find Tennessee people. to talk to about this. And I was like, help the heart, the heart of Tennessee. my gosh. It feels like a family member. Like i am keep thinking about it. I'm like, it truly feels like an aunt or something. I don't know. It's so sad. She's such a gem. i know she is such a gem.

Speaker: Oh, I was so sad. And I love, though, like all the videos that are being reposted of her and just like bringing her goodness to light. Like, you know, I don't want to say one last time because she's a legend. She'll be a legend forever. But, you know, it's just nice to like see all of that resurface. So I was proud of New York for like lighting up the Empire State Building. I was like, yes, I know.

Speaker: Thank you, to New York. Felt like a little nod to us. Not that I have anything to do with it. But I was like, thank you You're a Tennessean. Is that what you call it? Tennessean?

Speaker: It is. I am. is. Yeah. That is the newspaper as well. The Tennessean. Oh, is it? Yeah. That is funny.

Speaker: Well, it's September. Yeah. We're here. we Can we say it's fall yet according to you? I mean, it's Labor Day hasn't happened, but like sure.

Speaker: my God. let be. I can't. I can't. I still have beach days ahead of me. Next week is Vinny's week off before he starts his new job. I feel like I can say this now because he's given his notice. She's making an announcement so kind announcement. He hasn't got a new job. but He has been forward.

Speaker: For a new job for a little while now. And he's been in a very long interview process. And he got the job. And we're very excited. Congrats to Daddy Vinny. Yay. And um so he starts his new job the Tuesday after Labor Day. But all next week he has off. And so we're planning some date days for the two of us so that we can just like have some free days together. And one of the days we're going to do a beach day, just the two of us. So I'm sorry, but fall is not happening in this Okay. Well, that's fine. ah You you are

Speaker: I want you to do what feels right for you. Okay, so it's going to be almost like a little Thanksgiving action. You know how it's like Halloween, Halloween, one day for Thanksgiving. Well, it's like Halloween, Halloween, Christmas, one day for Thanksgiving, Christmas.

Speaker: ah Same thing's going to happen. i'm I'm fall, fall, fall. Go to Nantucket, pretend it's summer. Fall, fall, fall. Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. That makes sense. I will say one Halloween fall ah thing that has happened is I told you this via text, but my girls have become obsessed with watching the Mickey's not so scary Halloween parade on YouTube. um I have probably watched it no less than a hundred times in the past week. um

Speaker: And I could sing all the songs by heart now. um So, and they're, they're ready for Halloween. Like they are ready. Although I asked Alice what she wanted to be. And she said, Elsa, I was like, girl, we've been Elsa for three. Yeah. I'm like, we can't. oh you're like, we're done.

Speaker: We're done. We're done with that. Choose something else. Choose something We can't. I can't. It's almost like they don't know what else. So that's, we look online together.

Speaker: Okay. Like we'll look at my phone and we'll scroll. Like that's a fun thing we do. If Graydon wakes up at the butt crack dawn, I make him lay in the ba bed with me and every morning. And not every more. Every time he does it, he goes, can we look at Halloween costumes and so we'll scroll. And that's why he's picked the most random thing on the planet, which is the angler fish.

Speaker: Great. Excuse me? He's picked an angler fish. Yeah. what There's a costume of an angler fish? With the whole light up little bulb. Wow. Okay. I'm the weirdest kids ever. I can't. And so, yeah, so that's a potential. He also is kind of throwing in Wolf. So Wolf. Okay. Okay. Okay. No no no characters to be found here. going to say, i I kind of like that they're not like characters because if we are a character household, it seems. I will say when I challenged her about not doing Elsa again, the next pick was Unicorn. Okay.

Speaker: So I'm like right cute rainbow unicorn I can do. That's a once a cool. I might do some face paint, you know, like rainbow glitter face paint.

Speaker: Yeah. Margot um randomly said Vampirina and I was like, dude, that is like, like a hard costume to find probably cause that's an old show. That's an, that's a problem. Vampirina. That's a problem.

Speaker: Yeah. that That may be a make yourself situation. And also, you know, purple is just not my vibe. I don't know I can do it.

Speaker: I know. i I'm she's kind of easily convinced. So I could probably show her something else and she'd be like, yeah, I'm into that. So i don't know. I do like Vampirina. It's kind of cool, but I don't see. We'll see. We got time.

Speaker: That's the thing. We got time. Yeah, we do have time. I'm not, I'm not quite ready for that yet. I'm not ready. i i'd Yeah. I'm still living in Somerville right now. Okay. Sorry.

Speaker: I promise. I promise after Labor Day, like I'm in, I'm, I will dive in to fall. I will dive into the pumpkin spice latte with you. Okay. I'll already be on Valentine's day at that point, but can't wait.

Speaker: Oh my God. yeah Okay. I want to hear all about Margo's birthday party. Give us a full update. It was so fun. We had a beautiful day, I will say, because every party that we have thrown at my house, it has rained up until that point. So was the first time we've been lucky where there was no rain in the forecast. So I took off work on Friday and was able to like set up most everything.

Speaker: Chris's little sister came to help. She's such a gem. And we just set up everything outside. Got a bouncy house that... God, I love bouncy house people because they're like, I cannot be bothered to pick up and drop off within that day. So how about you keep it all weekend? Like, didn't that happen to you too?

Speaker: It did. It's happened to me twice now. And I'm like, I love you people. So we had it from Friday to Sunday. oh my God. That's all they did all weekend was play on that thing. And we had the pool open. So the kids were just running back and forth between the pool and the bouncy house. It was kitten themed. So we had like adoption boxes with kittens. They could make like these pipe cleaner bead collars.

Speaker: um And it was just so fun. Like people stayed for a while, swam, opened gifts, 10 out of 10. Like a lovely like into summer it felt like.

Speaker: It was so cute. I feel like, I mean, I knew the details of the party, but you didn't tell me all the like cute little details you were doing. i was gagged at the little like adopt a kitty and the bead collars. It was just so cute. And, and Margo's little swimsuit.

Speaker: It was so sweet. yeah And we had him a little matching swimsuit moment. So that was fun. Yeah. um And super cute. She loved it. She like really likes matching right now. love like okay yeah i'll try that out until so we matched and then yeah her she's i cannot believe like three is here like i have a full-on toddler she has her ups and downs but what ah like i keep saying jim she is like my angel on earth i love her so much she's still so sweet Cicola. She loves the lay on me. She loves the snuggle. She loves to hold hands. Like, Graydon was like so like, I'm done with that at this age. So actually, he really was never much of a hand holder. He kind is more now. But man, she makes me so happy. And it was fun celebrating her.

Speaker: I think back to... Excuse me. I think back to you finding out that you were having a girl and like you're reaction and excitement. Oh, it like gives me chills. It was so fun. And like, you were so shocked. And it was just so fun. oh my God. It was like, um, shock and relief. Because I knew if I had a girl, I was like, okay, I'm for sure done having kids. Yeah. um Because i think if I had another boy, I probably would have maybe given it another go just to see what it was like to have a girl. um

Speaker: But i don't know. i was so happy and I cried to Chris. I opened it at 4 a.m. and i was like, by myself because I was so excited to find out. But Um, it's been everything and more. It's been fun leaning into all the girly stuff. And like, we usually do stuff that is so neutral or like heavy boy because Graydon's just the dominant force. it was really nice to do pink this past weekend. Like, thank you. Loved it.

Speaker: So cute. It's so funny you saying that Graydon's the dominant force. I feel the same way about Alice. Just from like a, and this is so sad, but like truly this is how I feel.

Speaker: i sometimes just like she is, i don't want to say priority. That is not the right word. It's just like she's the most top of mind. Well, and Margo's go with the flow. Like she doesn't care.

Speaker: Yeah. And in this age of like school, starting school, I've been so focused on like Alice's school stuff that I got added to a group chat for Evie school and everyone was like, introduce yourself and who your kid is. So I did. And I was like, hi, my name's Candace. This is Alice's mom. And then my friend Joanna, who has kids.

Speaker: In our class. Screenshotted to me. And she was like, LOL, Evie's mom. And I was like, in the group chat, I was like, wow, I'm so sorry. Evie's mom, like, mom of the year over here, doesn't even know her own child's name.

Speaker: I just forgot that that was about Evie and not about Alice. So... And then it's like right now all of the all of these parents in Evie's class are like signing their kids up for activities. But I'm like, ah but Alice is already doing soccer and I don't really want to layer it on. So I'm just like, Evie's going to chill a little bit longer. oh my God. I'm the same way, Candice. I feel like all my friends have their three-year-olds and stuff. And I'm like,

Speaker: a Yeah. What's she going to do? I'm not doing it yet. I think spring will be when we start putting her in stuff. I'm thinking soccer in the spring, maybe a little dance. I don't know. so It's next year for her. I can't be doing 50 different things right now. Same. I'm like, I am already so spread thin. Absolutely not. Sorry. I'm going to stick with our one activity for Alice and Evie's going to wait a little bit. So funny. um

Speaker: I feel the same way, but I i bet it's hard too. Cause like with two girls, they kind of just like morph a little. Yeah. Totally. Yeah. They, they, it's just like they're, they're one now. Yeah. Like, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. It's just helpful. But also I can see that happening where you're like, oh, well she'll be fine. Cause she's a girl and she'll like whatever Alice likes. Like it's fine. Yeah. Or it's like such a hard distinct line with Green and Margo. It's like, even though she does like Spider-Man and all that just cause he does, but.

Speaker: oh my God. She's so into babies and he's like so into monster trucks and other things. Like. There's a hard line there. So I know ah it'll be interesting to see how that like goes as they get older. Cause right now it just feels like Evie follows whatever Alice likes. So it's just like a, you know, that's just the, the wave. It'll be interesting to see when they like break off and do different things. No, they might not. Like, I feel like me and my sister were pretty similar. Like we both did dance. I, I, she only did dance though. Like I went like soccer too and tennis and stuff just because my school allowed for us to be able to do that. And she went to like a different school than me, but i don't know. We were pretty similar. Some, some like become complete opposite.

Speaker: I know. Hmm. It'll be so interesting. Like I'd be interested, like one of my kids went golf. I'd be like, wow, what did that? I mean, I had an emo phase for a little. Yeah. My mom would not let me wear or buy me Converse shoes.

Speaker: Wouldn't. Really? and I wanted them so bad. And like that was when you went to the mall and I was like, I'm going in Hot Topic to get a poster. I remember I was super cool because I had a pair of green Converse that were like Kelly green. Okay. Great.

Speaker: But I wore them to a concert for a band called Anne Berlin. I don't know if anyone remembers them. And I met the band and they signed my green Converse. Wow.

Speaker: And then I would wear them to school and I'd be like, yeah, they were signed. And everyone was like, oh, damn, she's a real emo kid. You were. No, I was not allowed. My mom like refused. She's like, you have too many nice clothes in here to be wearing all that. That was always the excuse. If I wore a T-shirt, all she'd be like, go back upstairs and change. You have nice clothes. Like I was not allowed to wear a T-shirt.

Speaker: That's so funny. You're such a t-shirt girl to me. Now you know why. Yeah. It never was allowed. i dressed up my whole life. there Dressed up my whole life to the point where I'm like, i can't do it anymore. Even though I love clothes. Yeah.

Speaker: So. Wow. That is so funny. Oh, good times. Good times. Good times. and Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. Speaking of good times, Candice like was texting me something like a Facebook memory that popped up and I feel like I know what it was about.

Speaker: Oh, you do? Because I have no idea. Okay, so she texted me and I wrote on her wall because that's what you did back in the day. What did it say? It said, i like you when you arere a when you are a dolphin.

Speaker: That's what I wrote on Candice's wall, August of 2010. And I think it was you jumping on your bed like a dolphin. Oh.

Speaker: Did I like do a flop? Yeah. Like you like did one of those. I know what you're talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is so funny. And so I thought it was funny and I liked it. And so I wrote it on wall.

Speaker: Honestly, I think we should post it just to show people that we've just always been this way. Like – Our friendship has always been this way. And honestly, my Facebook memories, I look at them every day. They are such a form of comfort for me. They make me laugh. There is so many gems on there from Shannon that they are like, i this is going to sound...

Speaker: Like I'm a crazy person, but I feel like so if anyone has lost someone, you understand. There are days where there are messages on my Facebook memories from Shannon that I like needed to hear that day. I i i view them as like little messages from her. Um, you know, they're from like 10, 15, 20 years ago now at this point, but they are so fun to read and see. And then there's so many freaking funny things from you and I and our like college days. There's funny things from Mackenzie.

Speaker: Honestly, my Facebook memories is like one of my favorite things to look at. I know. It's so funny. My i one that always pops up in my head is you laying on the ground at Theta ahhhu because you walked in and they were serving breakfast for dinner, which is your favorite. And you just collapsed on the ground.

Speaker: And so i just. stay Still to this day breakfast for dinner is my favorite thing. And we probably have that like every other week, breakfast for dinner at my house. And Evie,

Speaker: I don't know if anyone saw Evie's back to school sign. One of her favorite things is grits. That's my girl. That's my girl right there. Me and Evie breakfast for dinner. That's our thing. She's going to your back. If you ever suggested, everyone's gonna be like, no mom. And then Evie's be like, yeah, two against two. So we're going to do it. Literally this morning, I, Evie's not in school today because of hand, foot and mouth. Margot's and Graydon both have gotten it. Y'all know how I feel about it is the devil's disease and I am scared of it. It is the one thing that like makes me cringe about children's stuff. But um Margot had it so mild. Bless up.

Speaker: But I've done that before when she was like really little. It was the very first week I sent her to daycare. or first within the first month i pulled her ass straight out for like three days i was like no no no you are not getting this at nine months old i was like absolutely not not after what i went through with grayden but then she got it the following summer and it was like nothing she had like two spots on her feet don't know when with alice you were like don't look at her know i was literally had a quasimodo child she was so banged up we had a rough day I'll never forget you like be like don't look at her. They're like oh she's so.

Speaker: No, like she was so banged up. Like she was great. It was great. And was fricked up for yeah two weeks. Graydon was well to the point that I was sobbing in my home. Like by day 10, I was like shaking, like, get me out of here. I can't do this anymore. Yeah.

Speaker: Truly the devil's disease. It is the worst. It is the worst. So funny. Both our second kids didn't like get it bad. I know. i wonder if it was just like.

Speaker: I don't know. Some handle it different. Yeah. So Godspeed to all the back to school germs, uh, dealing with them. I mean like dealing with the Godspeed, dealing with the back to school germs. It is so it's scary out there. um but yeah, she's with my mom today she,

Speaker: Literally on the way to my mom's because my mom had said, oh, I'll make her a big breakfast. That's like Evie's favorite thing. And she was in the car going, quits, eggies, sausage, toast. She was listing all the things she wanted. She was like, and she is a breakfast, my my breakfast queen.

Speaker: That is so funny. Eggies. Eggies. Sausage. That's so funny. Margot does the I-E-S on the end of things. like She's like, can you hand me some sockies? And I'm like, yeah okay, sockies. It's just funny. So cute.

Speaker: Yeah, they got light up shoes. So they love now they're in like their tennis shoe era again. Like they've been sandals all summer, ahhu jelly sandals.

Speaker: But now they've flipped. Chris got them sneakers. So back to socks. We're struggling a little bit with the uniforms. Oh,

Speaker: just She just wants – like, you know, Evie gets to wake up and, like, pick her outfit every day and, like, wear princess socks and, like, whatever. And then Alice is, like, plain white socks, plain white sneakers, like, wear the uniform. And that's been a bit of a struggle for Alice. She doesn't understand – Why she has to wear these things and Evie doesn't have to. So that's, it's been a struggle overall. She's, she is a loving school and doing so well. She's truly loving it. She's made friends. I've had moms text me and tell me like, Oh my gosh, so-and-so comes home talking about Alice every day. wow definitely And then at drop off. This happened yesterday.

Speaker: um People are so nice. And it's so kind. I know it was sweet. I dropped. So, okay. During car line in the morning, there's like older kids that line the like drop off and they're the ones who help the kids get out of the car. And if it's the little ones, they'll walk them all the way to their classroom. Okay. And so, but it's like anywhere from like third to seventh graders, I would say like that's the age. Wow.

Speaker: And I don't know these kids, like, you know, whatever. And Alice is getting out of the car and this girl, she was probably like third or fourth grade, maybe opens up the car and she's like, Oh, Hey Alice. And Alice is like, Oh, Hey.

Speaker: and I'm like, do you guys know each other? And like, and then another of the older girls walks up and she's like, Oh Alice. Hi. And I'm like, I'm sorry. Does everyone here know you already? And then so when I was like flips her hair and she's like, no, literally she's like, Oh, good morning. um and then, so when I picked Dallas up from school and at dinner that night with Vinny, I was talking, I was like, Oh yeah, those girls like knew your name. And Alice was so funny. She was like, Oh yeah, they know me. One of them says they want to be my pre-K buddy.

Speaker: Cause I guess they get paired with an older person. kid and they're fighting over alice to be pre-k buddies so gotta feel so good wow hot commodity i guess oh i was just like damn i don't i there's just she's i'm just not worried about her at all she's gonna like go to rule the world i think I would have loved that. I like i feel like all the older kids liked everyone else. And I wanted to be chosen so bad. i wanted them to like me. um i feel like you were so cute. I would have loved you. I was overlooked. I don't know. i Probably because I thought I was a cat. And people were like, she's weird.

Speaker: You know what, and how everything you're saying about your children choosing the anglerfish seems to make sense. I don't know. I probably just was not, I was probably like just shy and not super friendly with them. I can see Alice being like, what's up? Like, let's talk. Yeah, she's like such a, she's one of the girlies. Yeah, yeah, for sure. She's one girlies. That is so cute. I'm glad it's going well and Carline,

Speaker: I'm like, i I've asked everyone about it. I'm like, I think it's going to send me back into like a postpartum rage. Okay. I feel the opposite. i love it. It's become a place where I know I can like edit a video or like send answer emails. I've now just like, there are tasks in my day that I'm like, that can wait for Carline because I know I'm going to sit there for a couple of minutes and like need something on my phone that, and it keeps me from scrolling doom scrolling. So funny you so honestly, I like it. It's like a way for me to focus and like have a couple of minutes. My friend Claire said the exact same thing. She's like, it's a time where she's like, I know I have, I'm going to have 20 minutes to kill. So she catches up. She said, I do my best thinking. And Carline, almost like when you're in the shower,

Speaker: 100%. could not agree more. Wow. Yeah. Okay. So it's a place of business, I see. Yeah. but That's my office. That's where I went. Yeah.

Speaker: Okay. Okay. Good to know. Okay. i'll I'll lean into that next year then. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was trying to think of other things to update. And the only thing I can think of is that, guys, I started to play Mahjong yeah I'm literally sitting here staring at my mahjong things right now. So I was like, things do you have?

Speaker: I'll show you. You want to see, do show and tell? Yeah. I'm sorry. I didn't know you bought shit.

Speaker: Oh, she, she's mahjonger.

Speaker: <unk> crap. What do you mean? ah If you're my husband, keep scrolling. Okay. Um, yeah i i will say, hold on in my defense, me and my sister-in-laws, we're in an Olivia. We split the price of all this. So, and we didn't go like, um this is from my tiles are from Mahjong co, which is, oh my Mahjong sister company. They're more affordable. So like these with the code of, um, if you're in the Naples area, my friend Christina runs Naples Mahjong.

Speaker: ah And she gave me her code for these. So I got them like they were like $108. Like they were not that expensive. okay i was like, it's giving ray are They're orange. Oh, wow. Are they butterflies?

Speaker: No. Oh, okay. They're just like cute, cutesy. But like. Cutesy. Oh, there they are cute. They're orange. Okay. I don't even have any tiles, but i't I, what am I going to do?

Speaker: And then I have lime green. Oh, those are cute. Those are really cute. That goes good with the orange. Yes. And then you'll see this, the map brings it all together. This is just from Amazon. Again, not the racks are just from Amazon and the mats from Amazon. Like I said, I didn't spend like a fortune. I don't. the Some of the sets are like a thousand dollars for everything. It's insane.

Speaker: Dude, my whole group chat um with my due date group is all about like finding the discounts. Oh, that's beautiful. Oh, wow. Yeah, with the green racks and the orange tiles. It's cute. Oh, my God. It's kind of cute that you and your sister-in-laws will have that to do like at holidays and stuff.

Speaker: Literally, we've already talked about like the next for Thanksgiving. It's like, oh, we're going to play Mahjong at Thanksgiving. Like how phenomenal is that? God, that sounds so lovely. Yeah.

Speaker: So anyways, and not to brag, but i my um um at my first lesson, I won the game. And then when at my last, like I did a basically like a guided open play so that you could like ask questions and whatever. Um, and I won that game. I won my first game okay Wow.

Speaker: I'm a natural. She said, actually, we had inquired about doing like a private party for the, my friends that don't know how to play. And when she emailed me the like thing, she was like, so nice to meet you the other night. She was like, you were really good for a beginner. i was like,

Speaker: Oh my God. Tell me more. Tell me more. That's so amazing. I feel like I still don't know it well enough. Like I've done two practice times, like where I've had a coach and it's, I think I'm in too big of a group where we don't get, we, we don't even really get to play like a full round. Like it's time's up. It's been like an hour and a half and it's like, oh my God, we can't even get through the first fucking thing. And so then I never really get to learn how to play or like how to choose a hand. Like I'm still like the past two times someone's like chosen the hand for me. and so I'm just like, okay. So I just feel like I'm, I'm insecure about my level.

Speaker: Well, you're probably like me in that I was getting a little frustrated at the like guided open play because the the people around me were still learning. First of all, it said on that thing that you needed to like have least a beginner lesson to come. And then there was one girl that sat down and she's like, I've never played before. I know nothing. I was like. okay. But I was frustrated because I'm like, I just feel like I learned from actually doing and playing. yeah And I was like, just need to play more. Yeah. So yeah Well, and then the girlies on my Palm Beach trip played, but there was like two or three, maybe three people that were like, no. new And so I just like let them do it. And I was kind of like,

Speaker: off drinking anyway. so i was like, I'm just like, I'm like, I'm going to go do that. And so then they all got really good. I'm like, Oh God, I missed my opportunity to like do that. Yeah. I was like, I'm so stupid. wish we lived. I wish that we lived in the same city per usual because you know, me and my sister-in-laws, we need a fourth. Like you'd be the perfect fourth.

Speaker: I would. Should down? Why isn't the transportation real? Like, Why haven't you invented that yet? We've talked about that. And that's like the one thing missing that and like sending a smell to somebody through your phone. As long as it's not a fat. Oh.

Speaker: oh

Speaker: Oh my God. that is funny. I've never thought about that once in my life. Oh my God. I feel like that could be like so nostalgic or like, I don't know. I think that that would be like, that's the next thing. Cause you think about like the five senses and that's like something that's just missing sending somebody a scent.

Speaker: Wow. I don't never thought about that, but now I want it. Right? Like if I'm like making dinner, i was like, I'd be like, Candice, I wish you could smell this. Boom.

Speaker: Send. I wish. Well, now I'm like, I want, what, what smell would you send me? Um, literally the pasta I made on Monday. That was so good. It was gnocchi. And i I, turned on Italian music.

Speaker: wasn't, I was a damn restaurant. Okay. Um, and it smelled so good and garlicky and like onions and all this stuff. And i wish I could bottle it up and send it to you because it was delicious and so good.

Speaker: I'm very out of my like character to make something like that. But I just felt like it. I started my period and I was like, i want comfort food. i don't know.

Speaker: No, I discovered, right. Speaking of food, this is a little bit of a tangent, but speaking of food, I discovered this website called hot plate.

Speaker: A lot of people probably already know about this, but I, I am new. I follow this like sourdough girl, spellbound sourdough. She's like here in Tampa and she, does these like drops where, you know, she, you can order things and pick up. So I did that. I ordered it through this website called hot plate. That's like how she does her drops. And then I discovered all of these other people in my area who have hot plate and like do these like drops.

Speaker: And did I not send you a picture of my cookie thing that I picked up? No. Oh my God. There's this girl. Her name's Chickadee Bakery. She's here in Tampa and she does these like cookie drops. She's a baker. When I tell you it is hands down the best cookies I have ever eaten. It was like, I picked up a box called like the nostalgia box and it has like, it has all sorts of things in it, but like, uh,

Speaker: like a cosmic brownie, like her version of a cosmic brownie and like a classic chocolate chip cookie, a s'mores cookie, a pop tart that like she made. more It was literally the best stuff I have ever eaten in my life. And if you are in the Tampa area, definitely look up Chickadee Bakery and Spellbound Sourdough. Everything was insane. it was so I'm your picture.

Speaker: Oh, God. been unstoppable recently. need to reel it in. I would do a backbend to have that s'more cookie right now, like Candice. It was so good. What is this Oreo-looking ball?

Speaker: It is – here, I can tell you. Oh, and a Biscoff. Yes. Okay. That – so the ball thing is a miso puppy chow truffle.

Speaker: It was insane. Insane. And then the Biscoff looking thing is a cookie butter bar.

Speaker: Yeah. You know what is another dessert that takes me out? Like a chess square. Ooh, I love those too. Wow.

Speaker: You know what? No one's made me that in a while. hat to I'm about to. Okay. Here's my issue with fall. It's like fall to me is like I'm just going to get fat. I feel the opposite. Fall is when I lock in for some reason. I'm sorry. Summer's past, bitch.

Speaker: Okay. We are opposite. We are opposite. Fall and winter is like I am a bulk. I'm in bulk season. No, I bulk in winter. Like by December, that feeling's gone. But that first crisp air, I could...

Speaker: I get it's almost like Pavlov dog like fall is like soccer for me and I feel like I could run in an open field like I could go running and just run and run and run.

Speaker: Not not i Yeah so I just if I see a grassy knoll I'm running in it. I don't

Speaker: i don't know. I don't know. Probably when you see like an open. If I see the puppy chow truffle, I'm gonna come running. and that's That's what I'm running for. I mean, I'm not gonna deny it. I'm not gonna deny a truffle.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. I got to reel it in. I got to reel it I got to get off hot plate is the problem. No, no. Now um now we're they're going to sponsor us and we're going get them. Oh, my God. I love that.

Speaker: Too funny. I'm trying to think. I don't think I have any other updates. I mean, just back to schools going good. Everyone's good. car real big house real big everything real big i have one last thing to say and it is i am geared up for my trip to nantucket like oh yes yes yes yes let's see nobody tell me nothing Like, get out of my way, work. Get out of my way, everything. Kids. Family. It's just me going. No, I'm just kidding. Everyone's going. But I'm just so insane. Who all is going? Is it you and – or is it like your parents and stuff too? My parents are coming.

Speaker: I'm excited. y'all rent a house? Yes. And we convinced them. And my dad was like, so not on board. They just finished the lake house. They were like, we want to put our money into the lake house. And then my mom convinced him. She was like, oh, Bill, like the kids are only like the grandkids are only young ones. Like, let's go make memories with them. And he was like,

Speaker: twist my arm after that. He's like, okay, I'm in. and so um, yeah, I mean, it'll be good. And like, I I've never gone for like this long of a time. i just feel like we get to relax and it'll be so nice. Oh my goodness.

Speaker: It's just, I am so excited. We haven't been in three years. So I'm, I don't know. I'm just like looking forward to it. I've already made some reservations. I'm thinking we can finally get into like reservation or into restaurants that we like never can get into. It's so hard to get into. So I'm just thinking now that we have this long stretch, we can at least get in one night, hopefully. Totally. And since it's not like over a weekend, um,

Speaker: So I'm just to excited. and And we're staying close to this place called Children's Beach and they have like a playground on the beach. So I'm excited. Oh, that is key. we There's a beach in Lake Tahoe that's like that and that we would go there all the time.

Speaker: pumped. So nice. So I'm excited. I can't wait to see your outfits. Have you been shopping? I feel like I'm not doing great in that department. I do have a lot,

Speaker: not Nothing like totally new. I might have like two or three new things, but everything else is like beachy, walk around. I'm hoping i can shop there. Okay. Because I was going to say Anthro right now has so much summer and like all they're just trying to get rid of their summer and spring stuff and sales 50% off right now if you want to check it out. I mean, I i did get some things, but...

Speaker: I don't know why I'm leaning green. So much green. I love green though. Me too. I love green. I think of Nantucket as like blue and red, but I was like, i don't want to be like patriotic over. i don't know. It is yeah after Labor Day. So was like, I just. Green is still like in that like preppy family. Yeah.

Speaker: Okay, good. yeah So I'm excited and I'll be talking about it till my face turns blue. So y'all can be sick of me. i don't care. It's the one place that I don't care and I am going to talk about it.

Speaker: No, we are not sick of you. We love, I mean, I feel like we get so many messages in our DMs of like Nantucket wrecks, Rhode Island wrecks. So I get probably a Rhode Island every summer. They come flooding. What should I do in Newport?

Speaker: So I just like copy, paste, copy, paste. Yeah, literally. yeah Which I love. Ask away. I'm here for you. You should do a Q&A while you're there.

Speaker: Oh, that'd be fun. h Okay. And we already found a babysitter for a night. like Beautiful. I know. And that that was through a connection I like posted in this like Nantucket group. And someone from Alabama saw that I posted in it and she was like, hey, I got a girl girl for you.

Speaker: and I was like, well, that makes me feel even better because it's like word of mouth versus like someone random that I'm having to vet through. Amazing. Hooked me up. Oh, my God. Incredible. know. I was like, roll tide. That's amazing. wow Yeah. That's amazing.

Speaker: Anyway. ah Well, this is always fun. I love our catch-up episodes. They're just the best. I could go on and on. got to go eat. Okay. I'm sorry. I love you. eat my phone I love y'all.
