Introduction to The Glam Reaper Podcast

00:00:06
Speaker
Hi, my name is Jennifer Muldowney, a.k.a.
00:00:08
Speaker
The Glam Reaper, and I'm super excited to finally be bringing the Glam Reaper podcast into the world.
00:00:14
Speaker
It has been something I've been working on and muddling with for over two years now.
00:00:18
Speaker
This show is going to focus on stories about love, life and loss, and will, of course, have a massive input from the funeral world since that is the world that I live in.
00:00:27
Speaker
So if you're curious about the goings on behind the curtain or want to share yours or listen to stories from other people, then please tune in as we talk all things love, loss and life.
00:00:43
Speaker
Patricia, oh my God.
00:00:45
Speaker
So it's what?
00:00:46
Speaker
I'd say it's about two years maybe since we saw each other.
00:00:49
Speaker
So this is the Glamour podcast.
00:00:51
Speaker
So it's a podcast about life, love and loss.
00:00:54
Speaker
And I'm very, very excited today to talk to the fabulous Patricia.

Understanding Feng Shui with Patricia

00:01:00
Speaker
Love everything that you do.
00:01:02
Speaker
I met you through a friend in New York City.
00:01:06
Speaker
I remember it was freezing cold.
00:01:07
Speaker
We sat with hot chocolates in, I think it was Bryant Park, classic New York scene.
00:01:13
Speaker
And we talked all things together.
00:01:15
Speaker
that you do, which is all things feng shui.
00:01:18
Speaker
I'm saying that right, right?
00:01:20
Speaker
Oh, God.
00:01:21
Speaker
Okay.
00:01:22
Speaker
Because it's one of the things that people correct people about.
00:01:26
Speaker
They don't know how to say it.
00:01:27
Speaker
It's feng shui.
00:01:28
Speaker
It's feng shui.
00:01:28
Speaker
It's all these different things.
00:01:29
Speaker
So perhaps you'll tell me a bit more about that.
00:01:33
Speaker
But what I loved about what you do is that it's really about people at the end of the day.
00:01:42
Speaker
It's not about objects.
00:01:43
Speaker
It's about people and energy.
00:01:46
Speaker
and all of those things so to be honest this podcast while there is a massive influence from the funeral community you are nothing to do with the funeral community but you deal with people who want love in their life and happiness and healing and deal with a lot of loss so Patricia please take it away and tell us about you
00:02:06
Speaker
Hi, it's so nice to be on this.
00:02:08
Speaker
I was just thinking back to that lovely day outside in New York.
00:02:17
Speaker
It's interesting that you say that about feng shui not being connected to death and loss.
00:02:22
Speaker
But actually, originally feng shui was conceived to help people
00:02:28
Speaker
find the best placement for their grave sites and for their families grave sites because they want to actually put their ancestors in auspicious directions, put them in the most auspicious place to be able to support them in their future, in their lives ahead and all their children's lives.
00:02:45
Speaker
So that was like one of the main ones.
00:02:47
Speaker
And it's a huge part of Chinese philosophy and Chinese feng shui is actually helping people like find the best plot for their grave and also auspicious grave site.
00:02:57
Speaker
It's kind of a part of feng shui that isn't looked at very often and I don't do it.
00:03:01
Speaker
It's a very, very, very small segment of feng shui experts that do do it.
00:03:06
Speaker
But they do really believe in honouring their past loved ones and they do it with so much respect that they literally go and feng shui the grave to find the right direction for the grave for their loved ones.
00:03:20
Speaker
Wow, I mean, there you go, you learn something new every day.
00:03:23
Speaker
That is incredible, we'll have to get one of those specific experts on the show for sure.
00:03:28
Speaker
Oh no, so yeah, it's quite unique.
00:03:32
Speaker
Yeah, for sure.
00:03:33
Speaker
And so feng shui, and there you go, you've just clarified exactly how to say it.
00:03:37
Speaker
How did you get into it?

Personal Journey and Family Impact

00:03:39
Speaker
Okay, so I actually got into Feng Shui when I was in my teens.
00:03:43
Speaker
I'm from the West of Ireland.
00:03:44
Speaker
I have no idea how I came across or had an interest in Feng Shui.
00:03:49
Speaker
But my family, we moved house a lot of times.
00:03:52
Speaker
So I think, I don't know whether my parents just got bored or we just got bored after a few years in one house and then drive past new house and they're like, oh, let's buy that one.
00:04:00
Speaker
You know, their business was growing, so they were kind of expanding and changing.
00:04:04
Speaker
So we moved house a lot of times, and that was probably part of it.
00:04:07
Speaker
We got to pick our own rooms and all of that.
00:04:09
Speaker
It was kind of exciting one year we're moving to this kind of like real upgraded fancy house.
00:04:13
Speaker
And interestingly enough, when we moved into that house,
00:04:16
Speaker
We were like a pretty bog standard normal family.
00:04:18
Speaker
Like things were going like fine.
00:04:20
Speaker
We had a successful business.
00:04:22
Speaker
We were in a small house and we were moving to a bigger house, you know, as you do when your business grows.
00:04:27
Speaker
And we moved into this bigger house.
00:04:29
Speaker
It was much more flash.
00:04:30
Speaker
It was in a really good location.
00:04:31
Speaker
It was kind of like the place to be living.
00:04:34
Speaker
And it literally like, I don't know.
00:04:37
Speaker
I don't know if you can curse on this podcast, but it was like a lot of crap.
00:04:40
Speaker
The shit hit the fan when we moved into that house.
00:04:43
Speaker
No word of a lie, it was a really tricky house for us to live in.
00:04:48
Speaker
Things that had never arisen in our family before around illness and health and well-being and lawsuits coming at us like crazy.
00:04:57
Speaker
Stuff that was just like, what is this?
00:05:00
Speaker
And it's only now that I reflect back and I'm like, oh my God, that house was just so toxic for people.
00:05:07
Speaker
It was so terrible.
00:05:08
Speaker
The amount of things that happened, it was like we had this curse on us for that time in that house.
00:05:13
Speaker
And yeah, it was really crazy.
00:05:15
Speaker
So at that time, I asked about books for feng shui for Christmas.
00:05:19
Speaker
So I got these books about feng shui and I feng shui'd my own bedroom.
00:05:23
Speaker
And I even really got into what I helped, I made my parents hire someone to help them with their business.
00:05:28
Speaker
And ultimately we sold that house and moved.
00:05:31
Speaker
And I swear to God, like we've never had anything like that happen to us again.
00:05:35
Speaker
Like the things that happened to us in that house and unfolded never happened again for us.
00:05:38
Speaker
Like it was kind of like it all just like disappeared.
00:05:41
Speaker
And we moved to this house and life just got way

Balancing Health and Wealth through Feng Shui

00:05:43
Speaker
better again.
00:05:43
Speaker
Now weird, that house, their business went really well.
00:05:46
Speaker
So they made loads of money.
00:05:47
Speaker
And this is something that's interesting because a lot of people associate feng shui with money and with prosperity.
00:05:52
Speaker
And like, and that's a big part is that it's really about creating a house that's supportive for health and wealth.
00:05:59
Speaker
So we had like a really toxic experience with the health side.
00:06:02
Speaker
The wealth wasn't an issue.
00:06:04
Speaker
This is swings and roundabouts.
00:06:05
Speaker
So when we come back to like what feng shui actually means and it's translated, as I said, it's like ancient technique.
00:06:12
Speaker
And it really is all about good health and good harvest when you translate it.
00:06:17
Speaker
So good health, good harvest.
00:06:18
Speaker
Good health, everyone's health.
00:06:20
Speaker
And harvest, when it was old, like ancient times, harvest came, that's where their abundance came from, how they fed themselves, they nourished themselves.
00:06:26
Speaker
So it is all about health and money.
00:06:29
Speaker
Basically.
00:06:30
Speaker
Now all other aspects are included, but it's about making sure that our physical environment is supporting us with what it is we want.
00:06:37
Speaker
So oftentimes we are working really hard.
00:06:39
Speaker
I've grown up in a family like you work, work, work, and you do your thing, you do your best and that, and that's amazing.
00:06:45
Speaker
But sometimes work ethic and the harder you work isn't reaping the results that you want to see.
00:06:50
Speaker
From a feng shui perspective, your house is blocking it.
00:06:53
Speaker
Your house is stopping what it is that you want in.
00:06:55
Speaker
And you don't know this and people don't know this.
00:06:58
Speaker
That's why I do this because I want to make feng shui mainstream to realize that your house has the possibility to help you manifest what you want and support you.
00:07:06
Speaker
But it could also be repelling it, like holding it back.
00:07:10
Speaker
So there's different house types and it's a very, very broad, deep subject.
00:07:15
Speaker
But when I started in this journey myself, I kind of did it in my teens.
00:07:21
Speaker
And then in my late 20s, I was like, that's it.
00:07:23
Speaker
I ended up leaving my family business and everything, heading to India, becoming a yoga teacher and then getting back to Dublin and saying, moving to this new city, moving into this new apartment, ready to meet someone.
00:07:34
Speaker
And I was like, I'm ready now to meet someone.
00:07:35
Speaker
so i set up my apartment for love i remembered all that feng shui stuff set it all up and i met my own husband who was also into feng shui like i can't make this stuff up it was all a bit mad to be honest so i met ken and then everybody started asking me how did you meet ken i'm like why did this feng shui and this and this and this so that was really the start of it and from then on we started because we're both interested dived into it so it wasn't like i woke up one morning i was like i'm going to be a feng shui consultant
00:08:03
Speaker
It was really a fact that people started asking for help with it.
00:08:06
Speaker
Then we did the feng shui in our house together on the deeper level of what I teach and practice now in my powerhouse feng shui world.
00:08:13
Speaker
And I got a six figure windfall within a few weeks.
00:08:17
Speaker
Like all of a sudden it was like, everyone's like, what just happened to your life?
00:08:21
Speaker
And I was like, well, it's called feng shui.
00:08:23
Speaker
So obviously they're like watching me, like getting a new car from like cycling around Dublin on a borrowed bike to having a new car to living in this big house in the mountains.
00:08:31
Speaker
And they're like,
00:08:33
Speaker
tell me how you did that so that really just created this ripple of me then starting doing that it wasn't kind of an intentional I had a busy practice of my own doing my own therapeutic holistic practices so I wasn't even looking for it it found me and since then we've now helped thousands of women all over the world implement and get insane results from using their home to support them
00:08:56
Speaker
step into the powerhouse that they are to allow their house to support them what they want as opposed to be repelling it and it feels like a lot of people who find me or in my world they're kind of like the penny drops they're like okay so this has something you know I moved in or these things happened or you know I feel like I'm jinxed or you know I'm doing the work but things are not moving as fast as I want and when I look at their houses and I work on their plans and look at everything I'm like oh the reason for that is because of this this this is how you fix it so it's kind of fun
00:09:26
Speaker
It's absolutely incredible.

Practical Feng Shui Tips for the Home

00:09:28
Speaker
And I remember listening to you that day in Bryant Park and being like, hmm, interesting.
00:09:34
Speaker
Things aren't exactly, you know, running smoothly for me.
00:09:36
Speaker
Let me try out and see exactly if I can implement some of these.
00:09:41
Speaker
I remember one of the big things that I took away was the fake plants.
00:09:47
Speaker
So I thought I was being, you know, all pretty and beautiful in my home by having the peonies and all of the things that I thought were good in feng shui, you know, when I kind of, okay, this, if I bring, you know, do this and this and this, but I live in a basement and so everything dies here.
00:10:04
Speaker
So I thought, okay, fake flowers, the way to go.
00:10:07
Speaker
I'll get my feng shui, I keep calling it feng shui.
00:10:10
Speaker
feng shui on but I'll do it in the fake way and that's a big no-no right that's like a huge absolute eh so that was one of my biggest takeaways what are like three tips
00:10:22
Speaker
I mean, we're in the COVID time right now, right, Patricia?
00:10:25
Speaker
And it's just, everyone is just feeling it.
00:10:27
Speaker
It is just, I mean, you're just a bundle of powerhouse.
00:10:32
Speaker
I love that that's your like brand, a powerhouse of energy and amazingness.
00:10:38
Speaker
And I just love to know what are three things people can do?
00:10:42
Speaker
I mean, everyone's stuck at home right now.
00:10:44
Speaker
What are three things they can do
00:10:46
Speaker
that maybe if they've lost their job, maybe they're going through a divorce, maybe they've even lost a loved one because of COVID, maybe somebody's sick right now.
00:10:53
Speaker
What are three things that we can do right now?
00:10:56
Speaker
Maybe it's try out the fake plants.
00:10:58
Speaker
So the fake plants thing, people are like, what?
00:11:01
Speaker
All my expensive flowers.
00:11:04
Speaker
Don't panic.
00:11:04
Speaker
Like, actually, when it comes to Feng Shui, like, I am not the Feng Shui police.
00:11:09
Speaker
You don't want to get rid of them.
00:11:10
Speaker
I'm not going to come into your house knocking down and get rid of them.
00:11:13
Speaker
This really comes back to Feng Shui is acupuncture for your home.
00:11:17
Speaker
OK, so this is when we talk about acupuncture and we talk about just that whole energy like it is from the five, the five element theory and traditional Chinese medicine.
00:11:26
Speaker
And that is all about Qi, moving.
00:11:29
Speaker
OK, it's all about movement and flow.
00:11:31
Speaker
Say, for example, the fake plants.
00:11:33
Speaker
The reason I don't recommend them, I don't like them is that that fake plant just sits there.
00:11:38
Speaker
It collects dust.
00:11:40
Speaker
It kind of looks kind of pretty, but then they go about faded and weird.
00:11:43
Speaker
And then they start like, they're collecting dust.
00:11:45
Speaker
They're also, the chi and energy is getting stagnant around them.
00:11:48
Speaker
So there's no sense of movement or life.
00:11:50
Speaker
So I would prefer you to just get yourself a nice bunch of flowers once a week that you're like, oh, this is lovely and it's alive and it's vibrant and it's uplifting as opposed to here's something dead that's nothing's moving and it's kind of gone, you know?
00:12:02
Speaker
So that's one of the things, the whole philosophy behind
00:12:05
Speaker
and feng shui is that we bring our homes into a state of balance and harmony so when we're bringing our homes into a place of balance and harmony it also is connected to the philosophy of taoism and the tao is all about like going with the flow of life and if we have things in our homes that are like blocking that flow so you might be like oh my god the furniture the furniture isn't going to do that if there's no space for to move it's going to block it so the very first thing again you talk about the the plants you can do that
00:12:34
Speaker
And, you know, it may take time for you to release some of them.
00:12:36
Speaker
You might be like, okay, I'm gonna do that one.
00:12:38
Speaker
And just see how it feels, like how does it feel to bring some fresh life into your house?
00:12:42
Speaker
And the second thing that I would say to that is then we're just talking about this energy of flow around your house.
00:12:48
Speaker
So when you look at your house and you wander around and maybe have a look and you're like, are there places in my house where there's been something for six months that hasn't moved or 12 months that hasn't moved that is just there, like, you know, stagnating the chi and the energy.
00:13:03
Speaker
So if there are, and I know there are in every house, and this is something that we can really go, you know, feng shui is not about like minimalism or decluttering everything.
00:13:12
Speaker
You don't have to fold your knickers into funny squares.
00:13:14
Speaker
Like I don't do that.
00:13:16
Speaker
I am not a minimalist, but I'll tell you this, the things that are in my house are stuff that are being used.
00:13:21
Speaker
I'm also not a naturally tidy person.
00:13:24
Speaker
This isn't about having the most immaculately clean, spotless house.
00:13:27
Speaker
It's always good.
00:13:28
Speaker
That is very, it's good to have it like clean.
00:13:30
Speaker
It's hygienic, it's important.
00:13:32
Speaker
But in terms of like the clothes that you wore yesterday that are on the chair, like that's not clutter.
00:13:37
Speaker
And your children's toys thrown around, like they're playing with them.
00:13:40
Speaker
If they're using them, it's fine.
00:13:42
Speaker
It's a different thing if you have 10 cupboards full of children's toys and your children are now 32, which I've had clients have.
00:13:48
Speaker
And you're like, okay, that stuff's gotta go.
00:13:51
Speaker
Imagine how stagnant that energy is.
00:13:53
Speaker
So it's like just about relativity of like six months, a year, all of those spaces, it needs to clear.
00:14:00
Speaker
And it's not about getting rid of it.
00:14:01
Speaker
It's like looking at like, do I need this?
00:14:02
Speaker
Does it actually help me align where I want to go in my life?
00:14:07
Speaker
You know, just even ask that question will help you kind of go, oh, so interestingly this week, um,
00:14:13
Speaker
I had one client who was in our, she's in our Facebook community and she posted, she's like, I can't believe this.
00:14:18
Speaker
So she kept getting like job offers for this role that she used to do years ago.
00:14:23
Speaker
And as she was going through the process of been telling them, like go back and check and see, she found all these training manuals beside her and her desk from that old job, that old role.
00:14:33
Speaker
And she's like, how can I keep it?
00:14:34
Speaker
I don't want that job.
00:14:35
Speaker
And then she's like, well, she has all the training manuals beside her.
00:14:38
Speaker
So she's like, oh, actually, if I let go of those, I'm making space for what I actually really want to be doing.
00:14:43
Speaker
So it's this opportunity of not necessarily I have to, it's like letting go of important things.
00:14:48
Speaker
It's not about letting go of like really important things.
00:14:49
Speaker
It's like letting go of things that no longer serve you and no longer aligned where you want to go and what you want to call in.
00:14:56
Speaker
So that's like my second thing is just to go around your house and just look and see is there stuff that's been there a long time and just bite size.
00:15:04
Speaker
Like start with like one little cupboard.
00:15:05
Speaker
Like don't go, oh my God, the whole house.
00:15:07
Speaker
You know, one client today was asking me like, I have a whole junk room.
00:15:10
Speaker
I was like, don't go near it.
00:15:12
Speaker
Go find like the Tupperware drawer.
00:15:15
Speaker
There's nothing emotional.
00:15:16
Speaker
Go clear that.
00:15:17
Speaker
Start there.
00:15:18
Speaker
Build the muscle and feel good how good it feels to let go of something is really important.
00:15:24
Speaker
The next thing I would say, and this is something I just love and people genuinely feel a shift from this, is just starting at your front door.
00:15:31
Speaker
Like I remember doing this with them years ago, going to like a feng shui teacher and saying, you know, she said, clean your front door.
00:15:39
Speaker
And I went out the next day and I was like scrubbing my front door.
00:15:41
Speaker
And I'll never forget like just cleaning it and be like, I'm letting go and clearing away all the negative stuff.
00:15:46
Speaker
Like I want to just come in home and feel like I feel happy.
00:15:50
Speaker
So what are the things that are gonna make me feel happy when I get to my front door?
00:15:53
Speaker
Well, I was like, first of all, it being clean is gonna be a good idea.
00:15:56
Speaker
The second thing is like, have a nice walk on that.
00:15:58
Speaker
Like make it feel cheery.
00:15:59
Speaker
Like, you know, when you get home, you want to feel good walking in that door.
00:16:03
Speaker
And the next thing is that friction point.
00:16:06
Speaker
So the front door, is it easy to open?
00:16:09
Speaker
I had a client who was trying to sell her house.
00:16:11
Speaker
You couldn't get in her front gate because it was like stuck.
00:16:14
Speaker
And then there was a hose pipe.
00:16:17
Speaker
As you walked in, you trip up over.
00:16:19
Speaker
No viewings had come to the house.
00:16:21
Speaker
Believe it or not, they couldn't get in the gate.
00:16:22
Speaker
They would have tripped over the hose pipe and the front door had a fly screen, had a big gash in it.
00:16:27
Speaker
I was like, fix those three things.
00:16:29
Speaker
And of course she sold it because they were able to get in.
00:16:32
Speaker
it's like do you really want to sell this house like so it's like making it at the entry really easy to get in and welcoming if there's like a friction like a friction at the front door it means it's hard for the energy to get in and energy feels like sometimes one of these intangible things that you can't touch um but actually it's money it's jobs it's opportunities like
00:16:53
Speaker
It's all the things, it's life coming in.
00:16:56
Speaker
And either you want it to come in easily and smoothly or not.
00:16:59
Speaker
And if it's like rubbing and hard, it won't be easy.
00:17:02
Speaker
It'll make it harder.
00:17:03
Speaker
So just like those subtle things, your house is talking back to you all the time.
00:17:08
Speaker
So as you move around your home, just to look at those friction points.
00:17:12
Speaker
I was just laughing at my sister.
00:17:13
Speaker
I had this conversation with her recently.
00:17:15
Speaker
She's like, oh my God, I got the glass washer fixed.
00:17:18
Speaker
Now she has a question, she's traffic in the house.
00:17:20
Speaker
She has her own glass washer.
00:17:21
Speaker
But...
00:17:23
Speaker
But it was like jam, it used to be jammed in the corner.
00:17:26
Speaker
You couldn't possibly, you couldn't properly open up the fridge because it was jammed.
00:17:30
Speaker
And it was like, jam, you're crazy.
00:17:31
Speaker
And I got it the minute she said she got it fixed.
00:17:34
Speaker
Like we took our whole, this whole COVID, the bonus of it, he was at home.
00:17:37
Speaker
Took a whole day to fix it.
00:17:39
Speaker
But she was like, it's now sorted.
00:17:41
Speaker
And imagine like three years in that house, three years every time she went to try and get the fridge, she had this like that is going to, first of all, annoy you, but also your own energy and what that area represents.
00:17:53
Speaker
So kind of pick out those little places that bug you because they're not just bugging you to actually implement.
00:17:59
Speaker
They're also affecting the energy of your house and you.

Continuous Practice of Feng Shui

00:18:03
Speaker
Absolutely.
00:18:03
Speaker
And it's it's incredible as you're talking, Trisha, I'm making a list of things I need to do because I feel like every time I tune into you on Instagram or I tune into you on Facebook or, you know, you show up on my feed, I think I must do that.
00:18:17
Speaker
I have to do that.
00:18:17
Speaker
And of course, classic, we put it on a list and sometimes it gets done, sometimes it doesn't.
00:18:22
Speaker
But the doors, I definitely laid out my home.
00:18:25
Speaker
We're going to leave all the links to Patricia's website, your Instagram, your Facebook, all of these things underneath the podcast here, both on the YouTube, the visual and the audio version.
00:18:36
Speaker
And so people can, you've written a book, an amazing book that I have read, Happy Home.
00:18:42
Speaker
Isn't it called Happy Home?
00:18:43
Speaker
Yes, that's right.
00:18:44
Speaker
And
00:18:44
Speaker
Yeah, I loved that.
00:18:45
Speaker
And I loved the floor plan, which is called a bagua.
00:18:49
Speaker
Bagua.
00:18:50
Speaker
Yeah, that's right.
00:18:51
Speaker
And I've become obsessed with that.
00:18:53
Speaker
So even any time I do a clear out in my home, as you were telling us, I'm so anal about trying to make sure that I stick with that.
00:19:01
Speaker
Now, wonderfully, my money area is in my toilet, is in the bathroom.
00:19:06
Speaker
Classic.
00:19:08
Speaker
That just makes all the sense in the world.
00:19:10
Speaker
But even just small things you were saying just there about the door.
00:19:13
Speaker
And again, I feel like feng shui is something you constantly have to come back to.
00:19:17
Speaker
And as you said, it doesn't have to be do one clear out and you're done for life.
00:19:21
Speaker
No.
00:19:22
Speaker
consistent because for example just talking to you today I got this beautiful wreath and the flowers died so you know it was it were they were dying and I decided to preserve them and make like a Christmas wreath and have spray painted it gold and black and just as we're talking I'm like but that's dead flowers literally hanging on my door and they're falling like they crumble every time I open the door and I'm going oh my god the worst
00:19:52
Speaker
And I think, you know, the thing is, I suppose, with all of that is like, first of all, like the Bagua, if people are listening, the school of feng shui that I teach is classical flying stars.
00:20:00
Speaker
So there's some schools that start at the front door and they do that.
00:20:04
Speaker
That's not the school that I practice.
00:20:05
Speaker
That's kind of like fast food feng shui.
00:20:07
Speaker
And what we teach is very much about every house has its own unique energy blueprint in its own very specific way.
00:20:14
Speaker
Like the energy is unique to it in terms of like it has its own date of birth.
00:20:19
Speaker
and its own, yeah, like so it's its own kind of energy frequency.
00:20:23
Speaker
Is that not in your book?
00:20:24
Speaker
It is, but that's the flying star version.
00:20:27
Speaker
So there's others that are, there's a Western school, so people will be like, oh, they Google this thing.
00:20:32
Speaker
And, you know, I have sometimes do like free events or free talent.
00:20:35
Speaker
People are like, oh, this is what I have.
00:20:36
Speaker
And I'm like, don't use that, like, unless you really want to use it.
00:20:40
Speaker
But I've had so many examples of clients who come to me and they're like, this is what I've been doing for 10 years.
00:20:45
Speaker
And I'm like, well, no one did have had no success.
00:20:48
Speaker
It just goes to show because actually when you do go on to Google, there's so many answers and experts out there.
00:20:55
Speaker
What I love about you and your group though, and I love watching it, is you actually speak back to people.
00:21:01
Speaker
Like if they ask you a question, should I have a fake plant at my door, for example, in
00:21:07
Speaker
Patricia will respond and say absolutely not yeah but which is amazing and which is there's so many quote-unquote experts out there that don't and they're they've become such hot shots which is amazing for them but at the same time you lose that sense of community and I think what you have especially on your Facebook group is incredible and you do regular group sessions and courses and things like that so it is amazing and
00:21:32
Speaker
Just in terms of the tips that you were giving there, what's your thoughts on, I'll call it an altar of remembrance or some form of area where a family or a spouse or a mother or father, whatever, who may have lost somebody, how do they let

Feng Shui for Dealing with Loss

00:21:52
Speaker
go?
00:21:52
Speaker
So say if we're talking maybe a mother, a parent who...
00:21:56
Speaker
has lost a child.
00:21:57
Speaker
It's unfathomable to even have to go into the room.
00:21:59
Speaker
And as we know, so many parents don't and it becomes a shrine, you know, that room becomes sealed off from the rest of the home.
00:22:08
Speaker
Have you any experience like talking to families through that, even if it's immediate or maybe it's down the road?
00:22:15
Speaker
With something like that and in general that is like it's very much like baby steps, but it's also just like seeding, like, you know, that things need to be changed.
00:22:25
Speaker
So it's like leaving a time frame, but also kind of helping them to create like deadlines of like, right, after this, we're going to, you know, all the clothes are going to be put away and not touched for a year.
00:22:37
Speaker
or the room, the bed has to be taken out and be changed back into the living room, we need to do a space clearing.
00:22:43
Speaker
So different things like that, it's like baby steps is what I would say with that.
00:22:47
Speaker
And, you know, when I talk about like letting go of things, especially with past loved ones, it can be very difficult and emotive.
00:22:54
Speaker
And for
00:22:55
Speaker
especially for someone who's not used of like letting go of things in general.
00:23:00
Speaker
Like, and I think this is actually part of it.
00:23:02
Speaker
You know, I start with like, I jokingly start with the Tupperware drawer, but that's because like letting go is an emotional thing.
00:23:10
Speaker
But when we let go on the physical as well, that helps us let go of the internal.
00:23:15
Speaker
So when you start letting go of other things, so I would say to someone in that situation is,
00:23:19
Speaker
Let's declutter everything else except that for now.
00:23:22
Speaker
Let's, you know, people come to me and they're like, oh, I can't do my family photo, photo, photos.
00:23:26
Speaker
And I'm like, don't touch them yet.
00:23:29
Speaker
Like go and do the things that are easier that are and start thinking about like what I want the energy to flow.
00:23:35
Speaker
And of course, like creating a space that's like a remembrance, but also creating
00:23:39
Speaker
A big part of my thing is creating a vision for your future and a home that's aligned with your future and not just a shrine to your past and your past loved ones.
00:23:49
Speaker
So it's like finding that balance is really important.
00:23:53
Speaker
I'm not like a big cut, everything now is gone.
00:23:56
Speaker
It's not like that at all.
00:23:57
Speaker
So it's like phasing it is what I would say.
00:24:00
Speaker
And then also just from the perspective of the person who has passed away, like just think from their perspective of like, would they want you to keep all of this?
00:24:09
Speaker
Like, would they want you to be holding on to all of these things, especially, for example, like clothes and things like that, where, you know, someone that could be lovely suits in a wardrobe, like someone's lost their husband, lovely suits in a wardrobe.
00:24:21
Speaker
Someone could do them in a charity shop to go for an interview for a job.
00:24:25
Speaker
Or, you know, if we actually just change the energy of that and then find the things that you definitely want to keep, it's a journey.
00:24:32
Speaker
And that's the thing.
00:24:34
Speaker
You'll keep finding things.
00:24:35
Speaker
Like, we had a big thing around decluttering books in our house because I just love books so much.
00:24:40
Speaker
I've been a bookworm since I was a teenager.
00:24:43
Speaker
I just love books.
00:24:44
Speaker
But now I just have a few little piles, like, around the place.
00:24:47
Speaker
And honestly, the other day I was back in the...
00:24:50
Speaker
Going through more books again.
00:24:51
Speaker
I was like, need to do another clear of these.
00:24:53
Speaker
A few more of accumulations.
00:24:54
Speaker
Because I brought some with me from being abroad.
00:24:57
Speaker
And I was like, hey, I need to get rid of you.
00:24:59
Speaker
And I found this one, like barbecues, barbecue recipes.
00:25:02
Speaker
I was like, am I ever going to use this?
00:25:04
Speaker
And it was the last time I said to Ken, hey, what about this book?
00:25:06
Speaker
He's like, oh, no, I want it.
00:25:07
Speaker
And I was like, you have not opened it since I put it here.
00:25:10
Speaker
It is gone.
00:25:11
Speaker
So you have to give yourself, it's just a layer.
00:25:14
Speaker
And really see it like layers of an onion.
00:25:16
Speaker
So what is the one thing that you're like isn't going to be that emotional to let go of?
00:25:19
Speaker
I don't know if it was your spouse, whatever thing that they just had that it wasn't important to them.
00:25:24
Speaker
And then you narrow it down and go through the journey peeling the layers of the onion off.
00:25:29
Speaker
That's amazing advice.
00:25:30
Speaker
Like it really is.
00:25:32
Speaker
It's baby steps and it's about knowing what's right, feels right for you in the moment because that's really all that you're encouraging is
00:25:38
Speaker
it's what feels right now just a quick question what's your thoughts on Marie Kondo and her sort of vibe of what she does because it sounds similar like if you know the barbecue book if it doesn't bring you and Ken Joy you know get rid so is that something that you feel she's a little feng shui inspired tiny bit or
00:26:00
Speaker
So I think that one of the big things is like she's an organizational queen and she's also all about decluttering and she's very great with space stuff.
00:26:07
Speaker
And I absolutely love what she has done for people.
00:26:09
Speaker
She's really brought that awareness of people back into their homes and to thinking about what they actually have.
00:26:15
Speaker
And with feng shui, I'm kind of the next level.
00:26:18
Speaker
Like I'm the energy worker of that.
00:26:20
Speaker
So if I watch her TV show, I'm like, oh my God, this is amazing.
00:26:23
Speaker
I love what she's doing with them.
00:26:24
Speaker
But there's some places that the clutter will keep building up because it's bad feng shui or they won't be able to get into that space of like the energy still isn't going to be balanced and aligned.
00:26:33
Speaker
And, you know, what we do as feng shui consultants is make sure that the home is fully in harmony and balance energetically.
00:26:40
Speaker
That's not about the clutter in a house.
00:26:42
Speaker
They work in tandem.
00:26:43
Speaker
But what I find is that my clients, when we work with them and we give them the energy balances, so just like the acupuncturist, I give them the specific needles for every part of their home to balance it.
00:26:54
Speaker
The clutter goes because the energy doesn't want it there anymore.
00:26:58
Speaker
It's like when there's like a lot of clutter or anything like that, it's just like the vibration is really heavy.
00:27:03
Speaker
It doesn't want, it'll attract that kind of lower energy.
00:27:06
Speaker
Whereas when we put remedies and special cures in,
00:27:09
Speaker
for each house, that makes it easier for people to let go and we're bringing them into this sense of balance.
00:27:14
Speaker
So yeah, it's amazing what she's done, but sometimes I'm like seeing on the show and I'm like, oh my God, thank you to this, and what about this, and what about this, and that's not going to fundamentally change this.
00:27:23
Speaker
But people feel good because like clutter and things like that can be weighing them down.
00:27:27
Speaker
That may not be the cause of what's been happening in their lives.
00:27:31
Speaker
Patricia, incredible.

Empowerment and Control in Challenging Times

00:27:32
Speaker
Absolutely incredible.
00:27:33
Speaker
Thank you so much.
00:27:34
Speaker
And lastly, I'm going to ask you to share with us one piece of wise wisdom for people to let go of, not necessarily let go of 2020, because to me, I feel like, you know, there are people out there who are saying, oh, thank God that year is gone.
00:27:53
Speaker
And, you know, here...
00:27:54
Speaker
To me, worse can always happen.
00:27:56
Speaker
Better can always happen.
00:27:58
Speaker
We don't know what the future holds.
00:27:59
Speaker
Back in 2019, we didn't know 2020 was going to be the cracker of a year.
00:28:03
Speaker
It was.
00:28:05
Speaker
You know, it's the new year.
00:28:06
Speaker
They're feeling a little stuck.
00:28:07
Speaker
What's one thing that you maybe haven't already said that would give them just a fresh perspective and open them up to the year ahead?
00:28:15
Speaker
So I think that this is an amazing question and what I would say to you is first of all, like it's an awareness that what we've learned in 2020 is that there's only a few things that we can actually control.
00:28:28
Speaker
One is our mindset.
00:28:30
Speaker
The second is our own physical environment.
00:28:32
Speaker
and our own personal actions.
00:28:34
Speaker
Everything else can go on outside and we have no control of it.
00:28:38
Speaker
It is crazy.
00:28:39
Speaker
And I hope that just even listening to this show, that it's given you an awareness that your home, your environment is within your span of control.
00:28:47
Speaker
And it's starting to really focus on your span of control, looking after your thoughts, looking after your health and looking after your physical environment.
00:28:54
Speaker
And those three things will make a huge difference.
00:28:58
Speaker
So, you know, everything that I've said today, I would do all of those things and just be really mindful and aware that you have got some things that you're able to manage and control and actually,
00:29:10
Speaker
improve your life using them like and for me I'm this whole synergy of like using all the tools that are hands so like whatever it's like energy working mindset I need I like affirmations intention setting all of that releasing trauma and all of that stuff releasing anything that no longer serves us in our home and just recognizing that there's no point focusing on what's going on in the telly
00:29:34
Speaker
or on the TV.
00:29:35
Speaker
It's a waste of time.
00:29:36
Speaker
It is literally a waste of our energy where we can focus on our span of control, which is our home, our physical environment, and our own mindset.
00:29:43
Speaker
And we do that.
00:29:44
Speaker
That's when, and that's what's really kept a lot of my clients and myself on track this year, because we've had amazing year.
00:29:50
Speaker
Like it's been crazy, but it's been amazing because we stay and create our own bubbles for ourselves.
00:29:57
Speaker
Thank you so much, Patricia.
00:29:58
Speaker
You're an inspiration as always.
00:30:01
Speaker
And I hope everybody checks out your website and you are available for Zoom consultations as well, right?

Global Reach and Online Programs

00:30:09
Speaker
Yeah, so we have an online program called Powerhouse.
00:30:11
Speaker
So I work with people in a group format and working with Feng Shui in their homes, but it's a personalized, it's quite a hybrid program.
00:30:18
Speaker
And then I work with people one-to-one and it's always been virtual, believe it or not.
00:30:22
Speaker
So when everyone was just like, oh, everyone's going online, I've been doing it for five years.
00:30:27
Speaker
How do I live in Bali and Greece and New York doing this?
00:30:31
Speaker
It's that.
00:30:34
Speaker
I don't know, but I do know for a fact there are going to be so many people listening to this.
00:30:38
Speaker
They're like, I want what she has.
00:30:40
Speaker
I want to be in Bali and Greece and New York and whatever.
00:30:44
Speaker
So thank you so much once again.
00:30:46
Speaker
And please, everybody, check out Patricia's information and yeah, ask her any questions.
00:30:52
Speaker
She's the loveliest, friendliest person and she will be open to helping you out and helping you
00:30:57
Speaker
Feng Shui, your home.
00:31:04
Speaker
Every episode will have a new guest we hope you'll find interesting as they tell their story of loss and love in their lives.
00:31:11
Speaker
There'll also be some cool episodes on behind the curtains in the funeral industry, innovative products, new things, fun facts, all that kind of good stuff.
00:31:21
Speaker
But if there's a story that we're missing out on or a guest that you think we need to get on the show,
00:31:26
Speaker
please email us at glamreaperpodcast at gmail.com.
00:31:30
Speaker
We look forward to talking to you soon.
