Love Hurts... Especially Behind This Line

Transcript

Speaker: Aloha and welcome back to another episode of the Ohana Packers Edition podcast. Today, we are previewing the Packers week three opponent. It is the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night football.

Speaker: off of the riveting win to break the losing streak at six games. The Packers are at one and one, even record, and looking to get above 500 for the first time in the 2026 season.

Speaker: Joe, how are we doing on this fine Thursday evening, or Wednesday evening, as we record? Yeah, something like that. um You know, things are going all right. ah We both had our our turn with friend to show Steve and and his jets.

Speaker: oh podcast show whichever you want to call it uh you know i'm still trying to figure out if we should take anything positive from the jets game uh you know these these thursday night games kind of suck in that sense where you just come off of a a weird ass game and now you got to play right into another one and it definitely doesn't do anything when you've got when you're as beat up as the packers are right now but

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know. It's kind of... It's seeming to be like that type of season. And I don't like it. And I just mentioned it before we started recording. It's weird that we're already on week three.

Speaker: Yeah, that's right. it It is just, it seemed like it was such a long runway to the regular season and now it's just free flowing its way along. So that's how these things tend to go though. You know, they say time flies when you're having fun. I can't say we're having fun yet, but it is flying away. But um hopefully we'll be sending the Falcons flying away with another loss come ah Thursday night.

Speaker: Excuse me. um Joe and I were talking before the show. It's no secret. The Packers are in a bit of turmoil with their roster right now due to the injuries to the injury, the season-ending injury to Zach Bakubuele. The ongoing...

Speaker: um calf issue for warren brinson who knows or honestly who cares with aaron banks at this point and his added he's added a toe to his list of injuries that have had him ruled out already and then jayden reed was also ruled out ahead of the game so you have four auto inactives basically for all intents and purposes we were discussing i had raised the question of um you know why having the packers um put him on IR. I said it more to the effect of, you know, i it'd be nice to just have more O-linemen up on the active roster. I do wonder if they would have done it if um Jennings hadn't been removed you know cleared from the injury report by the end of the quote-unquote practice week, um as there are, excuse me,

Speaker: as the only two guys with injury designations are the two defensive tackles. ah Anthony Campbell and Javon Hargrave are the two questionables. um The aforementioned four outs are Bakuboele, Banks, Brinson, and Reid. So, you know, of your guys you have to have inactive, there's four already, so that shortens the list. And Basically, you're kind of just hoping that both Brinson, or not Brinson, you're hoping that both Campbell and um Hargrave are able to go so that you have the heavy rotation. You're going to need them this week against a Falcons team that is breaking in a new starting quarterback. Well, he started last year, but for this season, Michael Penix has not started a game for them at this point and is going to lean on the run game of Bijan Robinson. But Joe, any ah any initial thoughts before we get into our usual breakdown opponent breakdown?

Speaker: Um, before we do, I did change one of the over-unders, so you might want to check your answer on that one. Um, ah you know, honestly, Hargrave being bumped up a little bit is kind of good news, considering he's been out the last couple weeks.

Speaker: I wonder if the continued, it's kind of weird that they still got him listed as concussed. But I wonder if the limited is oh is' something that we're just going to be dealing with all season, being that he's an older player.

Speaker: uh i know people were kind of having a heyday with the cc being uh limited because of teeth but i guess they said he had his uh wisdom teeth pulled which which is weird that he's going to be able to they must not have cut out the wisdom teeth they must have just been straight pulled because i don't think he would have been able to contact because they would have put a stitch in It depends too if um i I know, i do remember if he got the top ones pulled versus the bottom ones, that does matter too, because the I think it was the top ones are the shorter recovery time and stuff. So, you know, some people are like, why did he do it now? Why didn't do it over the biweek? I'm going to guess that at some point, you know, he got kicked or hit up high and it dislodged something, you know, a little bit. Yeah, I know.

Speaker: little bit of excitement out here on the mean streets of Palolo Valley, but, ah yeah but you know, he's not, he doesn't have an injury designation.

Speaker: Bob's your mother's uncle. And there you go.

Speaker: Yeah, sorry, I was trying to open my drink without having the sound of the pitch going on. Um, even though some people like that ASR ASMR crap, but, um, yeah, I mean, I'm not, I'm not giving CSA any crap about it. I, you know, I had my own wisdom teeth pulled around that same age. So, and it just, uh, like I said, it must be more that they were pulled instead of had to be cut out.

Speaker: Because um when they cut it out, they've got to put stitches in. And I don't think that they would want to put stitches in... Or they would want him to play if he's got stitches in in his mouth.

Speaker: um So that's kind of a good sign there. i agree with the Banks thing. i think we both figure Bakobuwele is pretty well done. Period. In the story.

Speaker: um I mean, it's just going to be a hard... is you got to have a feeling that even though it was a partial and now it was a full torn, that structure integrity is not going to be there no matter what.

Speaker: And you just, I mean, I hope he's able to come back, but next year. i think yeah Yeah. I think if anything, he's done as a right tackle, because it's that the, the way you tear that patellar tendon is when you try to dig that outside leg in when you're setting for power, That's how he tore it. it That's how he partially tore it in Denver. That's how he tore it in ah in New Jersey this past Sunday. It's it's that, you know, mechanical function of the the joint. That's where, you know, you get the load at a certain knee bend when you try to jam your foot in the ground and you're sustaining force in, you know, in your torso and stuff is when you subject your body to that kind of torque and and force that you you get the subsequent, um you know,

Speaker: That's when the the ligament will give way. So, or tendon will give way. Like you said, and because that's like a repeated motion on and that side of the line, I do think his time at right tackle has come to an end. It's already a hard...

Speaker: rehab and recovery when you do it the first time and a second time just feels like that's the story is wrote at that position. You know, maybe there's a chance he plays center. The uber ironic thing would be, oh he can play left tackle because the stress won't be on the right knee kind of thing and stuff. Like, that's just how, in you know,

Speaker: That's my very rudimentary memory of you know and ph physiology and anatomy and stuff from high school, but you know different directional forces and all that kind of stuff. but well I made the joke in our in our group, Chad, that you know they've been wanting him to play center for so long now that maybe this was their...

Speaker: their plan all along and now he can't play right tackle so they have to slot him in at center to be able to keep him around but you know wish the well for him. Yeah and that's the thing is he's gonna be in Green Bay next year one way or another and so it it behooves them to try and recoup you know figure out if he can continue his career because 26 is the first year of his four-year extension so standard Green Bay structure first two years you're basically locked, quote unquote, um if they were to cut him next season, there would be a slight added loss to the cap. So um in addition to his already standing cap number. so And the only plus side about him doing it so early is they said it's a nine month recovery, which puts him about June.

Speaker: Right. So he would actually be close to a full year recovery once September rolls around and that new season is kicking off. So, you know, that that that is kind of gives you hope. But again, once you start re-tearing the same thing over and over again, the structural integrity just kind of degrades. I know when I went in for my ACL surgery, my surgeon told me that there were only three options for ACL surgeries. One is the one that they did, which is the patellar tendon that they strung back for my ACL. The other is the hamstring. And then the last one is a cadaver where they rob a dead body and they put the dead body one in you.

Speaker: The one that Aaron Rodgers swears by. Right. And those were the three that he said, that's all we can do. Now we can keep doing the cadaver one as long as everything holds up structurally.

Speaker: But, you know, it's just one of those things that when it starts getting that damaged that many times... is he going to be able to continue to do it without it getting damaged anymore? Yeah. And then do you start risking like bone graft? You start to bring in potential like bone graft kind of territory, which that just, ugh.

Speaker: Love Zach. He's a really great player when he was healthy and stuff, but you got to start also looking at quality of life after you're done playing and all. So lot of things for him to consider. Okay. And I misspoke. So i was looking at over the cap with the pre-June first. So they could post June first him next year, save 11, almost 12 million and stuff. But I think they're going to want to see if there's a route for him to still be an NFL player and stuff.

Speaker: And then all bets are off if he just says, like, he tries to rehab, can't do it kind of thing. And, you know, that's all she wrote and stuff. So, you know, we're rooting for Zach, but it it is a tall mountain for him to climb back from. But...

Speaker: um And then the Jaden Reed one is the it was kind of weird because the first reports was that it was a back thing and now it's and it is his neck.

Speaker: um There's no need to rush him back for anything. I know people are, well, we need him out there. We need him out there. you You do, but you don't. and you don't... itll look at what we're dealing with zach bakobowayla you don't want to rush jayden reed back from a neck injury ah like he did and i even kind of mentioned this on twitter the other day it makes you wonder after what happened with z-bock if now they're going to get even more conservative with a lot of their injuries so like micah you know are they gonna wait for the full time with him before they activate him

Speaker: you know, Reid, are they going to wait as long as they can with him to activate him? Savion, are they going to wait as long as they can with him? You know, it just makes you wonder if they're going to get even more conservative with their injuries out because of that.

Speaker: Yep, and only one way to find out. you just have to see what happens when he's able to get back on the field and let it play out that way. But um we'll cross those bridges when we get there. um We just hope, yeah, you do and same thing in Reed's case, you just hope that it's a clean recovery for him and he's able to come back healthy. um It's never a good sight to see, um you know, guys have to get stretchered off the field in any situation. And it's a, you know, it's a sobering scene that Packers fans have seen far too often from their receivers. You know, made the, like, really um just, like,

Speaker: like I made the skating comment that unfortunately, from since you know Sterling in 94, they've basically paid the tax with a receiver going out with a neck injury every decade after that. So um it it is just a bummer to see. um you know You had um Sterling's career ended in 94. Terrence Murphy's career ended before it started it as a rookie in 2005.

Speaker: Jermichael, I know he was a tight end, but Jermichael in 2013. And then you know you really hope Reed doesn't join that list because it is just a shame that they have lost a lot of careers to that type of injury and stuff. so Technically, you could throw Robert Ferguson in there because he was never the same after Donovan Darius pulled his shit.

Speaker: o And I just lost everything. so And on that note, let us talk about the matchup between the Packers and the the Falcons. So as we kind of noted um earlier, the Falcons have been playing um the 20-sided die to pick their quarterbacks. You know, there was ah the whole Tua situation in the preseason where honestly, he looked like crap.

Speaker: But I guess he was upset that he was a part of some sort of ah quarterback situation. not country, but quarterback competition and that the job wasn't just his until Penix was healthy or whatever. So like there's soft rumors that he's like holding out, even though he's kind of over his back injury. I don't know how to read into that crap. and The last thing that I can tell you about that and coming from a source that says he has sources around that area, Tua was supposed to be gone.

Speaker: by week one and then michael pennix went in and said i'm not sure i'm ready to go out there and then tua has to stick around so i'm i'm going to assume they're going to see how well michael pennix is going to play tomorrow night and that could be the decision they make on tua and Honestly, this is one of those games where I'm looking at this like you cannot let Bijan let Penix off the hook because as you noted, Penix hasn't really practiced.

Speaker: It's unknown how many like legit reps he's gotten in practice because you know i understand that like he's working his way back from ACL repair. What's that look like in terms of like his you know how much how much live reps he's getting in practice?

Speaker: You can't just give first team reps to the guy who isn't going to start games because, well, maybe that explains why cooper partly why Cooper Rush looked like such garbage the first two weeks of the season. But, you know, it's a short week, so they couldn't.

Speaker: you know do you You can't have Michael Panik's scout preparing for the Packers while the other 52 guys on the active roster are preparing for their week one and week two opponent and stuff. And lo and behold, Thursday night football, no one practices for real. You know you might have a more rigorous quote unquote walkthrough on Wednesday, but otherwise nobody practices going into Thursday night football. That's just the nature of the beast. and And that's why I say like you cannot you cannot let Bijan have a monster game tomorrow night and or tonight when you're listening to this and just take all the load off of Panix's shoulders. like This has to be...

Speaker: You know, we there's a lot to like about how this Green Bay front seven is played against the run, especially this past week against the Jets. And they faced two decent O-lines. um You know, the Vikings line is a little more established. The Jets line is more, you know, talent, you know, young draft and developed talent kind of thing. But um they just snuffed the absolute life out of the Jets run game this past week.

Speaker: And, um you know, that was one of the points that Steve and I went over on his show um today, earlier today, is that um You take away the, if you look at the stats and you take away um the 14 yard rush that Brees Hall had on the toss play and you take away Braylon Allen's five yard touchdown, Brees Hall averaged one yard per carry on his other 15 snaps, on his other 15 carries and Braylon Allen,

Speaker: Raylan Allen averaged a paltry half a yard on his other four carries. So that is 20 running back carries where you gave up a total of 19 yards or no, 17 yards. So it's that's a good day at the office. So I don't expect them to have that good of a game against Bijan because Bijan is just a totally different animal. But I don't think this Atlanta O-line is as good as the two that they faced. And the Packers are going to be looking to say, all right, beja are all right, Penix, you are going to have to be the one to beat us tonight. So...

Speaker: And obviously, I'm not saying like, yeah it's a little bit tricky too, because you can't just say we're going to play eight or nine in the box and it's man up. Because the one thing Atlanta does, unfortunately, have is they have tall skill position players. And you know it's one thing to have talented skill position players like the Vikings and the Jets have had the past two weeks.

Speaker: But the Falcons have two guys in Drake London and Kyle Pitts who are six five plus. and Unfortunately for the Packers, one of their corners is Keyshawn at 5'10". And you just cannot... It's going to be hard to bracket coverage... It's hard to bracket coverage tall guys because um you know bracket coverage, it's really good against you know more in the 6'2 range guys because you know you're forcing the quarterback to fit the ball in vertically only, in the vertical plane only, whereas...

Speaker: With the Atlanta guys, there's no they have no problems throwing it up to the 6'5 Drake London and the 6'6 Kyle Pitts. So they're going to have i'm I'm really intrigued to see what Gannon does.

Speaker: And it's going to start with stopping the run on early downs. And just you've got to put all the pressure in Penix's face on these third and passing situations. Make him feel the pressure.

Speaker: And don't get discouraged if he does pop off for a play when you send the blitz because you cannot operate in, oh, fourth and sit back. Like, don't let him get comfortable. Don't let him get in any sort of a rhythm.

Speaker: Make him, you know, do the Jared Goff turn and duck and cover kind of thing. Like, force the issue. And, um yeah, don't let this offense get get going.

Speaker: And that's where I'm hoping... Javon Bullard can take the, you know, continue building successes because I fully believe between him and Edron Cooper, they really helped hold that run game down for the Jets.

Speaker: And so i know Edron Cooper has been getting a lot of praise. I know Chris Long was talking about him on his show and all that, but Javon Bullard was ah was a menace out there against the Jets, and you just got to hope that that continues with him.

Speaker: And I think they contain it they can contain Bichon. Now, with that being said, they've also got to worry about Pinnock's getting out and ah about... And I know he's not like a fast runner anything like that, but he's got scrambling ability to him.

Speaker: And so if you can contain Penix, they're going to rely a little bit more on Bijan. if you could rely If you can contain Bijan, they might not have much of an offense, period.

Speaker: Again, we don't know what Penix is going to bring because this is his first playing time since last year. so yeah And that's usually a scary notion for the Packers when they're not, they are coming off or they, they go against the team with an unknown quarterback.

Speaker: so yeah So it's going to be something else there. And you look at this, this, um, Falcons old line and, um, you know You have Jake Matthews, who has been a really good player, but he's in the twilight of his career at this point at left tackle. Matthew Bergeron, one-time um Packers um draft prospect, just got an extension, but hasn't been really playing up to it this season. Center Ryan Neusel, I'm not sure who that is. I'm sorry, I do not know that man. um Right guard Chris Lindstrom, who was like...

Speaker: you know, relatively touted coming out of college, but I feel like hasn't really lived up to the hype. And then right tackle the well-traveled Jawan Taylor, um who of every um and every hater of the Chiefs will be like, watch him, he's going to be offsides on a lot of plays. So, you know, that's one that... False starts, not offside. False starts and um not lining up on the line of scrimmage properly. So that's one that, and with this ref crew, this is Sean Smith's ref crew, and he his team leads the league in false start and um holding penalty calls. So you know this is one of those where you kind of you want LaFleur to get in his ear about, like, keep an eye on this guy because he has a history for lining up two yards off the ball kind of thing and stuff. but

Speaker: This is one of those games where, like I said, again, there's no secret recipe, secret sauce. That front seven that's been doing yeoman's work this whole season, keep the pressure on, keep just creating negative plays in both the pass and the... And that's the thing is like,

Speaker: The interior D-line has been really good against the run, but they haven't gotten going against the pass, except for Carl Brooks missing his chance at a big sack that would have stopped the Jets' second touchdown drive in its tracks.

Speaker: um But, like, Wyatt, you can still... You can tell he's playing himself back into shape and game form. It's... it's he He looks like when in his first few seasons where he gets off to a good start, gets injured, and then it takes him time to roll back into form. He's in that getting back into form part of the... equation. So um if there's any time for this interior pass rush to get going again, this would be an awesome week to do it.

Speaker: um Otherwise, to be fair, the injury report, there's not a lot of defensive guys on the ah injury report. ah St. Juiced is listed, but he was a full participant.

Speaker: ah Of course, we were talking about Cissé and Hargrave already. You mentioned Brinson not practicing and and Campbell was bumped up to limited it on Tuesday. So, you know, yeah, you don't want to see that. Those are three your DTs out there, but overall this, this defense is healthy.

Speaker: So, you know, what if they can can, if Gannon can continue doing his game plans, the way he has been, i yeah, the Falcons do have some weapons, but I think it's, it,

Speaker: It's not multiples of, so they have a really good wide receiver. They have a really good tight end. They have a really good running back, but they don't have like Minnesota where they have two top notch wide receivers or they're, it's not like, um, uh,

Speaker: like the bears with colston loveland and commit and all the other tight ends that they've drafted just in the last two years you know it's not one of those things where they have multiples of they just have a great one here a great one there a great one there and that's about all their offense entails so you know if this defense can stay healthy if this you know hopefully saint juice comes back and that that'll kind of Maybe take Keyshawn Nixon off the field for a good portion of things.

Speaker: You know, the this could be a nothing. This could get to the point where like it's a nothing burger. I'm not saying that it's going to be. I just said the possibility is there that they could limit this Falcons team to a very low score.

Speaker: Yep. And that's going to be on the back of this defensive front continuing to plug holes in the run game and Gannon continuing to just throw the throw with a gauntlet down in the past in the pass rush. And i don't expect that to stop. is but He probably is smelling some blood in the water already. And like if Panik shows any signs of hesitation, Gannon is just going to go for the throat early and often. And I hope that's really the marching orders for the game on the defensive side.

Speaker: And honestly, it's the other side of the ball where you know i' have my you know I'm pumping the brakes in terms of how confident I want to feel about this game. um And it's just purely because the Packers s offensive line is going to be an issue until it's not. And on paper, this is a game where you look at the Falcons front seven and you think, especially with Samson Ebukom ruled out for the game, you're like, they should have success game.

Speaker: on the ground and in the air against this this this Falcons defense who um you know had to trade for Gravon Dexter from the Bears, signed Z'Darrius Smith out of retirement.

Speaker: and

Speaker: you can't get beat by the ghost of Zedarius. And like, it it is to that point. But at the same time, it's hard to have confidence in this group when you've seen what they've done the first two weeks. And Jordan, like we we talked about it in our postgame. I talked about it with Steve today.

Speaker: Jordan has to go back to being the, hey, I may take my licks back here in the pocket, but that's what I get paid to do. And um At least I know my guys are going to go and fight for me this time. Thanks, Sean Ryan, for putting that out and airing that out. So I've come up with a new scheme, a new type of scheme for the offense.

Speaker: And it may just give Jordan a little bit more time to throw. So you know how you have the pistol package where you line up a couple, you know, like two, three yards away from the center.

Speaker: Then you have the shotgun package where you line up about five, seven yards from the center. What if we went with the rifle package where you line up 10 to 12 yards away from the center? And, you know, he takes a deep step anyway, so this eliminates his deep drop, and it still gives him time to go over things, and, you know, I think it would work.

Speaker: Honestly, only one way to find out. Um, and but yeah, I mean, I agree, but I've been thinking about this the last couple of days, if they don't mess things up and put Donovan Jennings back out there, if they go ahead and let Jagger Burton roll from this point forward,

Speaker: I think I would be a little bit more comfortable. Me too. Like, and I don't know how to, what to read into Stenovich's comments this week about like, oh, Jennings has been doing better in practice and stuff.

Speaker: I, On one hand, Steno is the the not to beat around. He's the straight shooter, so you're kind of like, ugh. But also, it still reeks of we're coming up with reasons to not start the rookie in week one in a hostile environment kind of thing. like and just And that's what it's getting to me, is it's it's getting to that point.

Speaker: Yeah. i just But then I got to thinking about this. If you are not sold on...

Speaker: a Monk as your right guard, what if you slotted Burton in at right guard and then put the 90 year old composer at left guard?

Speaker: Hey, I'm all for trying anything at this point. Well, I think a lot of people, and even myself can included, that once Bakabuele went down and then things just started compounding on that with you know Belton going out with an elbow and Jennings going out with a hand and then the talks from LaFleur about they were moments away from having Tucker Kraft play right tackle.

Speaker: I forgot the fact that they had john John Williams and he really played good during the preseason. Unfortunately, he was inactive against the Jets, so that's why he was not an option in that scenario. Right.

Speaker: And that's the sad part about it. But now that's not an option this week. Nope. You've got to have everybody. I don't care if it's Travis Glover. I don't care if it's, you know, John Williams.

Speaker: um I don't care if they, well, I don't think they can elevate anymore, but you know if they would elevated that and i keep fucking messing up and not remembering his name but the guy that played for sensity the last four years um oh volson or whatever yeah whatever it is you know they're going to have to to because even if belton is full and even if um you know jennings is a full participant they're still banged up

Speaker: So what happens if they get even more banged up? You can't ah you can't go without having some guys out there. Preferably, you know, you have Glover be that right tackle if Belton can't go.

Speaker: You keep John Williams on the left side, whether it's at guard or tackle if something happens to Morgan or whatever. But, you know, you're going to have to have all everybody up.

Speaker: And, but yeah, I got to thinking about that a little bit that I think I'm a little bit more comfortable knowing that John Williams held up really well during the preseason.

Speaker: Uh, so I I'm okay with that, but they're still going to have to bring some guys in. i don't yeah care how they do it through, you know, whether they decide to bring in an Evan Neal or, you know, they can somehow talk.

Speaker: Zeidler into playing, which I just I just have this feeling if he wanted to play, he would have already signed somewhere. Right. Like I keep. But at at the same time, like I do want to just see it in the news that like, you know, whether it's one of our beat reporters or like um a Garofalo or whatever, um or Pellicero, one of the guys, or Rappaport that says, Green Bay did call, you know, Zeitler and he declined or whatever kind of thing. And, um you know, now if you believe Easton Butler, that happened.

Speaker: Right. So, and you know what? that's that's all i That's all we need to know is, like, um they did try. like that they are you know And I do believe that Goot is trying to leave no stone unturned and stuff.

Speaker: I do wonder if like if they had been able to bring like Lure Zeitler in, if Banks would be on IR already, but they're so like, ugh. I don't know. and And I'm not going to waste any more of our time on Banks at this point. He's already out for the game. um But This game just this week just comes down to take care of the football, take care of Jordan. And you should, especially with AJ Terrell going on IR, Billy Bowman, their nickel back is questionable. Like I said, Samson Ibukom, who is one of their important um front seven players being out for the week.

Speaker: You've got to be able to create some movement. ah And you know you're going to be home, get you know get the home crowd behind you, all that kind of stuff.

Speaker: not expecting a light-top performance, but let's get in the 27, 30-point range this week and get a win and stuff. But, I mean, like you said, I would like to see... don't think it's a gold package game, I think we're good on that one, too.

Speaker: Ha ha ha ha! But yeah I'd like to see some sort of cohesion start to form with this O-line. And I'm not going to step on the toes of your over-unders, but I liked what Caleb did last week. you know He wasn't perfect, but it was one of those games where because of the weather condition, you just needed the 220-pound guy to put his head down and gain whatever he could. And there was that one play where i know he had the fumble.

Speaker: And like I said, I don't totally put the fumble on him. He got blown the fuck up in the backfield. But he had the other run, of a drive earlier than that, where he gets he gets hit one yard behind the line of scrimmage, and he drags himself for a three-yard gain. And those are the kind of runs that they've missed with Jacobs out, is the turning the one-yard loss, zero-yard gains into two three-yard runs that keep you relatively on schedule. And, you know, like...

Speaker: Hey, ah you know, for the average team, a four yards per carry is nothing. But for the Packers, that's like winning the frigging lottery in the run game. So like everything is um everything is um relative.

Speaker: But um I do hope that we see Johnson get a little bit more run this. And especially because I think Lloyd will play better off of his running style than um you know vice versa kind of thing. like and And it allows Lloyd to be a you know to be more explosive and stuff. But got hold on to the football. Can't have five fumbles again.

Speaker: um even if we can excuse our way around like most of them except for Jordan's fumble last week. Can't have that many in the game. so um And if you go by what the weather says, it's not supposed to rain. It's supposed to be a pretty good night. so that That should limit the weather factor for things.

Speaker: Yep. But anything else you wanted to touch on or did you want to just get into our over-under? i think that's... I feel like we're just going to go in circles if we stay on it anymore.

Speaker: Right. There was something else I was going to mention, but it must not have been too important. yeah oh

Speaker: Yeah, it must not have been too important because I can't think of it right now. So... All right, we'll just go ahead and jump into over-unders. A lot of these are just rollovers until we can see something actually happen with it.

Speaker: So obviously the first one is going to be golden first touchdown. Is it going to happen this week? Yes, it's going to happen on a slant. um Lucas, one and a half sacks.

Speaker: I'm going to say, i'm ah I know I have over, but I think I'm going to under on this one. I think he does get the one. um but i do think that they do concentrate a little bit more on him.

Speaker: So that, you know, with double teams and whatever. So I think it leaves open for the other guys like Sutton and, and Sorrell and Britain Cox to feast on it.

Speaker: So I'm pretty sure. I've got over, and I think he's going to actually get him from the interior this week. And he had a couple good rushes from the three-technique spot. I think he's going to be able to feast on this interior O-line of the Falcons.

Speaker: um But yeah, so then that's where I'm going. Yeah, I mean, I understand that. i just I have a feeling that you're going to get... Because of what he's been doing the last two weeks, I just think that...

Speaker: um he's going to get double, triple, you know quadruple, whatever team that they're going to need to do that.

Speaker: He may still get pressures and QB hits. I just don't know if he's going to rack up the sacks on it. so My next one is Jordan Love getting hit over under eight and a half.

Speaker: I'm saying over because they got to prove it before I believe otherwise. I am taking the under on the simple fact that, like I said, I'm a little bit more comfortable with Jagger Burton out there than Donovan Jennings.

Speaker: I do think it's possible that if they need to, they can put John Williams in at the left side, wherever they need him to be. i mean, he even played some center. I don't want him at center.

Speaker: I would rather have him at left guard or left tackle. but that that does leave the possibility there. So I'm a little bit more comfortable there. The big question mark is going to be that right side at the moment because hopefully Belton can hold it down.

Speaker: But if he's dealing with an arm injury, is he going to be able to still use his power and everything with with ah with a bad wing? So I'm going to say under because I just, I, I, I,

Speaker: They are down a couple of guys on their defense, and I think the offensive line can start getting a little bit better this week unless the Packers coaching staff gets a little bit too cutesy with with their offensive line.

Speaker: Uh, next one, Caleb Johnson over under 30 and a half rushing. I took the over, obviously, because I'm not going to go against. I really think that if they get the offensive line figured out, if Jordan Love isn't getting hit as much, Caleb's going to be able to get a little bit more running lanes opened up for him.

Speaker: So I am going to take the over on the 30 and a half. And the only reason it's set at 30 and a half, because I think he only got, what, 32 yards last week. So then that limited... Only eight touches, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. she going over as well. um I think that they're going to realize he is their best option. Like I said, um especially if the O-line isn't going to consistently open holes in the run game, you've got to give it to the guy who has the just the fortitude to just put his head down and gain whatever yards he can get kind of thing. Lloyd is still figuring that part out. He still wants to be a hero and bounce anything he can to try and like create the explosive out of nothing.

Speaker: um so i think i think calum's gonna get he might get 12 carries this week if you know they they're able to possess the ball enough and and that was kind of an argument that i had with a couple of people on twitter was that oh well lloyd just doesn't have good vision and i go back to the simple fact that if they're continuously getting hit in the backfield you're not going to have good vision And they they tried to point to a couple of ah certain moments on there. It's like, I understand what you're getting at.

Speaker: He may not have perfect running back vision at the moment, but when your whole line is collapsing on you, you do get a little bit panicked back there. Look at what Jordan's been doing with when his O-line collapsing on him. So I'm going to give, i I got to give Lloyd a little bit more go, but I do think Caleb, because of the type of running back he is, is going to get... Once he starts getting more comfortable in the offense, they're going to start giving him more ah opportunities.

Speaker: Next one I changed. I originally had it as Cissé over under half a passa pass breakup, which is would be he's either going to get one or not. But I changed it to interception because I think he's due.

Speaker: I really think that he was so close to it. against the jets i i like i said i talked about it in our game review it was like millimeters away from his fingertips i think he's due for it and you know like i said the one guy that you're going to have to worry about it's similar to the the justin jefferson thing drake london is going to get his no matter what you do

Speaker: You just got to be in the area for when Penix makes a mistake.

Speaker: That's where I'm going to. And also, like, so, you know, Penix is a left-handed quarterback. The Packers, they don't they don't have guys trail. they They just have their cornerbacks play a side. And um the the way they line up their defense, Cece plays the defense's right side, ah offense's left side. So he is to Penix's arm side, which is...

Speaker: you know quarterbacks tend to throw to their arm side of the field it's the more natural you know the ball will tail that way and all that kind of stuff so um i i think he's gonna have his opportunities and yeah like you said if if gannon is putting the heat on pennix like we expect and need him to he cc will probably have an opera a few opportunities tomorrow night Yeah, and that's where I'm going with. And I think, I really think Cissé is coming into his own. He's been having a couple of good games.

Speaker: Again, we are going to be dealing with some, you know, rookie mistakes once in a while, but he's really starting to turn into something else. Last one I got, and again, I set this so low just because of, you know, the past couple of weeks, Tucker over under 35 and a half receiving.

Speaker: I think this is going to be his breakout game for the season because um you know the the Falcons, they're in their linebacker situation, like I said, they have heavy outside linebackers in their 3-4 front. And then their inside linebackers are ex-braider Divine Diablo, who was yeah in coverage and a rookie in Kendall Daniels who's tall but you know he's a rookie and rookie linebackers tend to have their lumps and stuff so remains to be seen and then like I said their nickel um Billy Bowman is questionable to play and um I just really think that this is going to be a week where they're going to try and get Tucker going of course this means that you know Christian or

Speaker: Golden is going to be the breakout or freaking start event is going to have 80 yards or something. But yeah, I do think this is a week where they look to get Tucker going. And this is also dependent on whether or not Tucker has to play right tackle or not. So yes, this is true. Well, you'd hope that Redman is up to speed at this point and he would be the right tackle.

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know, but oh i I just, I've got it over to just because he's going to have a breakout at some point. And you know he's going to get his once Jordan gets a little bit more comfortable and things.

Speaker: So I think we're going to go over with it.

Speaker: That's all I got. Yep. ah Any other thoughts on the game or you want to just put a bow on this one? We might as well just put a bow on it. um I did tell Mike that we probably should recorded this Tuesday night so we could add it released on Wednesday so you had a little bit more listen time. but you know, whatever. And I do want to apologize for the Monday episode with the echo. We've, that was one thing that we were having issues with that we were trying to fix and we thought we got it fixed, but obviously we didn't. So do want to apologize on that end, but you know, hopefully this week it's fixed.
