Speaker: And...
Speaker: so i like i had a repeat we haven't had a repeat yet so we're doing great but packers are looking to maintain momentum um put another potential nfc contender further under into the dirt and you know Before we get started, I want to throw a new segment in here real quick.
Speaker: Just off the bat. You know, I know we're very technical and everything when it comes to a lot of the football stuff and all that, so let's get a little bit of goofy with something, because I've had a question on my mind that has really been bugging me lately.
Speaker: And I don't know why, it just popped into my head. So this is even off-topic completely of football. If an actual time machine is to be built...
Speaker: And you could use it to go forward, backwards, whatever. Would you also have to build a sanitizer that you have to walk through before going through it and after coming back from it?
Speaker: Yes. Because, you know, you watch these movies and TV shows and all that, and they do the time travel, and they just pop up wherever they wherever the hell they want.
Speaker: Yeah, like I say yes, and so, okay, like you said, we're going to get a little nerdy. So if you go hiking in Hawaii, when you get above a certain elevation, um they'll have these brushes on the ground, and what they want you to do is they want you to brush your feet off because when you get above a certain elevation, the the plant life on your hike gets more and more indigenous ah or endemic to the islands, and so they want you to knock off any sort of... um invasive weed or plant or you know all that kind of stuff they want you to leave it down at the lower elevation so it doesn't infringe upon the uh the um the you know the on the um what's i just said the word and i'm totally lost but yeah you they don't want you to bring the invasive stuff into the um
Speaker: the the Community? No, not the community, but the um indigenous plant life. You know, because this is all like Ohia plants, all the stuff that's like only ever been in Hawaii, hasn't seen nut grass or any shit like that or like these annoying vine thing, tree vines that we get and stuff. So I imagine that a time machine would be like that because know we have immunizations and things like that, but I don't know if doctors really know how bad the bubonic plague was or whatever equivalent there was in a time. Or, you know, if you go to the time of the dinosaurs, you don't know if you're bringing some thing that could be the start of the zombie apocalypse back with you or anything like that. So
Speaker: See, I was thinking it was the other way that if I were to like go from this time period to say like 1920, COVID, you know, because, you know, one of the things that they were worried about with COVID was the fact that somebody could have it and not know they had it and not have any, it was asymptomatic. So if I traveled to 1920 I'm carrying it,
Speaker: I just started a whole new pandemic that wipes out, you know, this is worse than Thanos' staff. ah You know, so just no one's going to be there left to write about it.
Speaker: So I just, ah I don't know. for Somehow it popped into my head. i don't know where it came from. ah somebody was talking about something and it just, it popped in my head. I like, man,
Speaker: Can you imagine? And then like you said, if you went back to the time where the bubonic plague was prevalent, you know, and bring that back, or even now, you know, a lot of our diseases that have
Speaker: progressed throughout the years would be deadly back then because we've built enough immunity and enough stuff that we can control it They didn't have it back then.
Speaker: Or if you go forward in time, who knows what they have in the future that would be brought back here and wipe out the world. So yeah, for some reason, I just had that on my mind and I had to ask a question and I figure this gives people an insight into our goofiness when we're in our the middle of our group chats and all that other shit. So yeah.
Speaker: And on the and the on the note of bringing bad things to other places, Jerry Jones brings the Cowboys into Lambeau Field. And, you know, I think, what is it? The the Cowboys have won twice in Lambeau, 2008 and 2016, or something to that effect. Like, I do believe those are, like, the only two times the Cowboys have actually won in Lambeau.
Speaker: Or if if not, if any more than that, it was, like, when the Packers were absolutely dogshit in, like, the um in the 80s or whatever or the 70s or the 80s so uh don't quote me quote me on that but i know that there's well i don't know because they had a long break between ah with dallas coming to lambo because i remember in the mid 90s that was when because i had a card set that was a showdown in title town and that was like the first time they had faced each other in like forever
Speaker: Yeah, and I know that that was always the talk, like, you know, that was always what ah Wolf lamented in the 90s is that we would beat them in Green Bay, but we always played the playoff games in Dallas kind of thing. So that was always sort of the bugaboo for the 90s Packers, too, was that they just couldn't win in um Texas Stadium. But You know, this is 2026. It's a new season. um The Packers are, you know, feeling resurgent after a result, their resounding win over the Bears.
Speaker: And as great as that is, you're feeling coming off that win. You've got to keep the momentum rolling because Minnesota continues to refuse to lose games. um I know their defense is absolutely far and away the best in the league, but they decided they're going to get the bare minimum amount of offense to remain 5-0 at this point and you've got to just keep pace because you only play them one more time so you're limited in your ability to catch them up directly you know you can't catch them up by your own accord you're going to need help and therefore you also need to keep pace with them and also stay ahead of the rest of the division because you're the rest of the division is three and two green bay holds the tiebreaker because they are one and one in the division
Speaker: so You just got to keep putting your best foot forward. And, you know that's the, those are the stakes at this point of the season. Yeah, for sure. And like I said, with our um review of the, the,
Speaker: Bears game, you know, this is a strong stretch of three straight rivalry games. I mean, Bears is off as the obvious rival. Cowboys have been a longtime rival. And then you've got Lions next week. So, you know, this is a tough stretch of ah games. and And, you know, we've still got, what, another four or five weeks before the bye week.
Speaker: So this is could to be a long stretch to get through. you And I was watching something earlier with, uh, it was Jason Wilde and they had Brian Bulag on and I think it was your buddy Strauf that was with Wilde and, um,
Speaker: He said, i mean, they were talking about the recovery and of Micah Parsons and the injury and why it seems like it's taking forever and stuff like that. And one of the things that he also brought up was he may be just watching how this team is going to play.
Speaker: And, you know, I'm not saying that that goes into it. I'm just saying that. um You know, there is is there is a possibility that he's sitting here watching them and, okay, well now they just lost two out of the next three and we're starting to get to that mathematical possibility that, hey, even if I return, are we going to have success?
Speaker: Because what, that would be two out of the next three would put them at four losses Yeah, so you'd be 4-4. Yeah. Yeah, so you're starting to... ah Two more losses could get you out of the playoffs with the way the the division is playing right now.
Speaker: I get it. And, like, so this is where I put it. So, Micah is going to play this season. no matter what happens because it's very hard even for a guy who is a hyper well one he's hyper competitive but two he's in his athletic prime and you don't want to spend a whole year just not playing your sport like that's not that's not good for you kind of thing right but what it would do is like you said we're the whole you know seeing how the team is doing that angle is in the how much are you trying to accelerate the return
Speaker: All this aside, I do think Maika is doing everything he can to get back as quick as he can because he's that type of competitor. he you know i say ego in the positive that it's like, they're waiting for me.
Speaker: I am the piece they need to really push this team into another gear kind of thing and stuff. And...
Speaker: They're in a really strong position where, yeah and and the the good thing, you know, Gannon talked about it in his availability where it's like, Micah is, you know, I don't want to go as so far as a coach on the field, but he's somewhere, splitting somewhere between being a coach and the like a, um and like an analyst, senior, you know, um like quality control guy, and also like a cheerleader, like a hype man kind of thing where he's like just wearing a bunch of different hats and like, he's super involved and you know him being around is really lifting everyone's spirits and all that kind of stuff so you know i think all this talk is happening purely because you know they're looking at the calendar and they're like okay it's been nine months since he got injured but he didn't get the surgery until february so you know count nine months from february that's november
Speaker: um The Dallas game was floated because of narratives and you know narratives and Micah would probably want to play against the Cowboys. I'm sure he did want to but On the other side of the coin, Terence Parsons has said all along, he won't play before November. like And he said it in like a, I don't want to burst your guys bubble, but he's not coming back before November kind of thing.
Speaker: So, you know. i But the thing is is, I'm wondering, and I put the, this is this is where you think that you're living in a matrix um when some of this stuff happens.
Speaker: Last week, what did I, or during our review of the game, what did I talk about with Micah? that, you know, he had a picture of this, a scarred lion on as his post.
Speaker: And then, um what was the post something like one more or one more week. And then it had a lion's head on it. He released a hype video today. And what were most of the, uh, uh, highlights from lions games.
Speaker: So it makes you wonder if that's what he's aiming for. But I do think that he is going to take the full of three weeks and and that, but I just, I don't know.
Speaker: Wilde just kind of threw it out there that, well, you know, November 29th, you're hitting almost the year mark ah for for the surgery. and And you do have to wonder...
Speaker: The one thing that my- Not the surgery. Wilde missed it. Yeah. The injury, yes, when he tore it, but no, the surgery was February. so Right, but he was just saying that we're at a year point for for the injury.
Speaker: oh But I remember my therapist saying that a lot of it's going to be mental, and I wonder seeing Bacoboile go down after returning from injury, now seeing Hargrave go down after returning from an injury,
Speaker: you You wonder if some of his mentalities is ah kind of iffy on that. But I know this could be a whole other podcast on speculation with Micah Parsons. But I just, you got to wonder what's going on up there. Because I would hate for him to, if this was down in Dallas, I could understand not wanting to come back for it.
Speaker: because of the simple fact of the turf. Well, now he's not going to return for this game where it's at Lambeau, so he's at least got his home grass. Do you want him returning for the Lions game when he's going to be on turf?
Speaker: I was going to say in forward field, you know, that's that's where Rashawn's knee died. That's where Stokes' leg died kind of thing. So, like, forward field isn't a great surface either. Yeah.
Speaker: That's why, you know, they'll take it week by week. And then the week after that, it's the short week because you're playing Carolina on third Thursday night again the following week. So, you know, it really, it sort of just does play out that that Pax game looks really ripe for the picking in terms of when he would make his return.
Speaker: um But we'll see, you know. Things change, um but LaFleur made it pretty clear that he'll be back when he's medically cleared and he's just not medically cleared at this point. So um I know that different people are saying slightly different things, but Bucky.
Speaker: yeah
Speaker: But um what's it called? Is that kind of weird that a Michigan guy has a dog named Bucky? He's named after the Winter Soldier. uh yeah but you know that's still a ah weird you know westendorf asked the same thing but it is in no way it is no way related to a badger but we've talked enough about a du you know um at the end of the day micah's not playing this week getting into the guys who could play this week and there were some screwballs thrown at the packers on wednesday so um like their injury list up for wednesday's practice
Speaker: um DMP, so no surprise, Javon Hargrave, they're going to wait until set. the People always ask why. They always just do handle it this way, that if they haven't brought in street free agents, they're going to wait until the weekend to put guys on IR.
Speaker: um And for those that wonder why about that, it's because you have to have a certain amount on your active 53 roster without getting any kind of dings or anything from...
Speaker: Yeah. And so, and also like, you know, there's the possibility that Savion is ready to go this week. So, you know, he could take that roster spot and all that kind of stuff. know they are tech they are at 52 because they had an open one going into last week. And so, you know, putting Hargrave would put them at 51. So Savion might be ready. I doubt Riley is going to be ready this week.
Speaker: um But... you know They did open his his time though. Yeah. Yeah. So those are the two guys whos in their 21 day window. um Jordan just Jordan Riley just started his on Wednesday.
Speaker: Savion is in week two of his 21 day window. um I know they said that Riley's going to need a ramp up, but depending on how the rest of the room works out, because Jonathan Ford was another DNP, which was kind of a surprise because um none of the reporters listed him as a DNP because they saw him go through team stretch. And then apparently he just didn't do any of the drills afterwards. So that's one to keep an eye on. um Just because they...
Speaker: As of right now, they only have six defensive tackles on the active roster, and that's including Javon Hargrave. And so they've got tried to go into every game with six um just so that they can keep that rotation going.
Speaker: And I am curious to see, you know, that's the thing is like, Riley probably does need to ramp up, but do you ramp him up on the go by giving him like 8 to 10 snaps in this game kind of thing?
Speaker: Or do you get really creative and... um you activate Nigel Kelly, let's say, and you play Lucas at tackle a little more and yada, yada, you know, all that kind of stuff. So they have options. I'm really curious to see which route they end up going, but, you know, we'll see how how that progresses as the week goes. If forward practices the rest of the week, it's kind of a moot point.
Speaker: um Other DNPs, Sky Moore was in a boot. um And then... The one that's the little bit, not little bit, that's concerning for the Packers is you have two cornerbacks and, you know, the names don't inspire, you know, it's like, okay, well, nobody likes Keyshawn and St. Juice hasn't played corner yet, but you only got five corners on the active roster.
Speaker: And, you know, that's the thing is people are like, oh, like now you're concerned that they're missing Keyshawn. Like, no, I'm concerned that they're missing two of their corners on this roster. And so right now, if the status quo remains through the end of the week, you're elevating Domani Jackson and crossing your fingers that no one turns an ankle on Sunday.
Speaker: Like, that's the the point you're at, basically. um And yeah, like. that It's just not the greatest feeling in the world that you're that limited on coverage, guys, when um you're about to walk into a game with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens on the other side.
Speaker: Limited participants, so the two aforementioned Jordan Riley and Savion Williams, who are in the midst of their PUP slash IRDR returns.
Speaker: The surprising one, Aaron Banks did practice today. He did not receive snaps with the starting group, but go figure. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Speaker: Anthony Campbell um was a limited participant again. LeFleur reading between the lines, the expectation is that he should be able to go this week. They were sort of like...
Speaker: he could have gone last week if they needed another defensive tackle but they did you know. like that was kind of the position they were in last week who would have thought hardgra wouldve went in And
Speaker: and to all the people say like questioning why he was in the game at that point it's simple numbers You're not playing Wyatt and Brooks at that point in the game, which means you have only three active defensive tackles in Ford, um McClellan, and Hargrave.
Speaker: And Ford isn't playing pass rush downs. So it's like, so you've got Hargrave and McClellan. And that's just the unfortunate, you know, like anyone can get injured at any time. And it's just really unfortunate that Hargrave got her injured on a p play where he's like,
Speaker: pulling up to not hit the quarterback late kind of thing like that's that's what's really really unfortunate about is like he wasn't even engaged it was truly a no contact like trying to hop out of the way kind of injury so Just not what the Packers need, but that's the that's the reality they find themselves in. Jacob Monk returned to practice.
Speaker: um And then Evan Williams and Devontae Wyatt. um Evan is sick. Wash your hands, watch your wash your butt, to quote the great Devontae Adams. And then Devontae, just the continued listing since you know he started the preseason on PUP. So no real surprise there. It's the same injury he's been.
Speaker: quote unquote injury he's been listed with all season. And then the one upgrade from last week is the one full participant is Lucas with the shoulder that he's had, you know, listed on the on the injury report for several weeks already at this point.
Speaker: On the Cowboys side, their DNPs, kobe durant cornerback Kobe Durant, Von Miller, but he's just old, ah dammarvian linebacker DeMarvian Overshown, hamstring, and ah backup tackle Drew Shelton with the hamstring. Oh, sorry, and reserve cornerback Amir Speed with the knee injury.
Speaker: And then they had one limited participant in Joey Porter Jr., who still has not suited up for the Cowboys to this point. And then everyone else on their injury report was a full participant. So safety, Elijah Clark, tackle, Tyler Guyton, edge rusher, James Houston, wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, who did leave their Thursday night game early, but it looks like it was a Charlie horse.
Speaker: um quarterback Siobhan Revell Jr. and guard Tyler Smith so relatively healthy you know the guys that didn't participate are either old or they have been missing for a while for the Cowboys at this point so they're gonna kind of come with a full deck and the Packers are gonna again have to um shuffle the deck chairs and um You know, Gannon's going to have to make lemonade with rotten lemons, basically. not i don't want to say rotten, but, you know, he's he's missing a few ingredients here and there. So he's going to have to paper mache over some holes and figure his way through this game a bit. But...
Speaker: the good news for the packers is on offense they're relatively healthy and their best defense is truly going to be putting up as many points this is going to be one of those games where i don't need to see style points on both sides of the ball we just want to win and as much as they got whatever they wanted against the bears last week it should be a lot of the same against this cowboys defense because saying it's a defense is being very kind to what the cowboys have fielded on that side of the ball so far this season the The big thing that I'm hoping for is the way LeFleur schemed last week against the Bears and with the way he was getting pissed off and just throwing, you know, you know game planning inside the game and and just wanting to destroy ben Johnson.
Speaker: makes me hope that it sparks something in him and like, Hey, now that the line's holding up, now that Jordan's feeling more comfortable back there, now that my receivers are there, can we just, maybe we can just keep throwing and keep throwing and and actually push this game through Jordan Love more than trying to do it through the run game.
Speaker: Uh, so yeah, that that's what you kind of hope for, but just kind of looking at some of the Cowboys injuries, they're ones that the ones that were full participant are ones that can relapse real quick.
Speaker: So like Tyler, Tyler Guyton is a back. Well, trust me from a guy that has a ton of back problems. I know you can relapse from that real quick. Uh, depending on the shoulder injury for James Houston,
Speaker: You know, same thing there. CD Lamb with a thigh. um I know you said could have been just a charley horse. Could have been a contusion, too. So, you know, like like a bruise. did have to leave the game for a stretch, so yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, so that could be a bruise. And, man, if that bruise acts up on him, that that could be until it heals could be something else. So... I'm not hoping injury on anybody. I'm just saying that these are things that even though they're full participant today, doesn't mean that, you know, they could slide back down to limited in in a heartbeat. So, but either way, both teams are a little bit nicked up on, on the game and yeah, you know, or on the reports, but
Speaker: You just, like I said, you got to hope that the floor, something sparked in him with last week's game and he can start pushing things a little bit more. Don't get too cutesy. Yes, you want to have a run game. Everybody wants to have a run game. But when you've got a quarterback like Jordan Love doing Jordan Love things, let him do it.
Speaker: Let him sling it. Let silly body be silly body. oh Yup. Just like you said, keep doing what you did last week. Obviously there's not the hate that he, you know, that he very much kept under wraps heading into the bears game last week. but You do have the um embarrassment over the tie last year and all the fallout from that.
Speaker: um It's kind of interesting. You know, you look at where they were going into week six last season and you're coming, um you know, you're, you're,
Speaker: Oh, no, you're on the bye. no. So you you were 2-1-1 going into the Week 5 bye, and then you beat you beat the Bengals coming out of the bye to end up at 3-1-1. But, like, you weren't feeling great about the Packers at this point, you know, this re when they played five games last season.
Speaker: Whereas this year, the first three weeks were like, oh, God, like, this is going to long season for the Packers. And then the last two games are like, you know, a lot of it is based off of the reshuffled old โ the re โ the โ The veterans have settled down this old line and you feel much better about where they were than they were 14 days ago with this old line.
Speaker: um And it's time to just build off of that. um One of the things that, you know, LeFleur talked about today is you know, he was asked, when do you expect to get Zeitler into the lineup?
Speaker: yeah But you have to remember... or and purposes he was on his couch while everyone else was in training camp so these three weeks he's been with the team have been his training camp and you know he's 36 or whatever so you know it it's hard you know he's he's got to work a little harder to get himself into true playing shape you know it's like when we all played in like pop corner or high school and you had to do the week of practice before you were allowed to wear pads kind of thing it's sort of akin to that with you know the the the pro um the med staffs are like okay like are you truly ready for contact because they don't they don't do full like full pads like they used to 15 years ago where it was actually like a scrimmage at practice kind of thing like nobody practices that way in the nfl anymore the cba has Totally. come God, we're starting to sound old. We used to work do two days and, and.
Speaker: Sweated our asses off. Two-a-days are a thing of the past at this point. They're a dinosaur. But um i know we we I know you and I broached that topic in our um our recap of the Bears game.
Speaker: I do think that Zeitler is going to start whenever he is like ready to play kind of thing. Glover has been a breath of fresh air and much better than I ever could have imagined he would be at right guard.
Speaker: And yet you still saw a couple plays where, I don't know if it's his inexperience or rough technique or whatever, but like, you know, the last bomb played to Golden, Glover's the one who gets beat like a drum that gets Jordan lit up on the throw and stuff. And, know, I'm not here to say that Zeitler isn't going to look bad it on a one play here or there. base That's, you know, part of the, you know, that's part of what playing O-line is, is,
Speaker: you know um Joe Thomas said it all the time. It's like, I can play a perfect game, but I screw up on two plays and I get an F grade kind of thing for it. And like you know that's just the hand you're dealt when you choose to play O-line.
Speaker: um And you know I've heard different, like Huber brought it up on Green Bay Beat that like, oh, like does he start against Detroit next week? But I'm like,
Speaker: ah Yes, it would be nice to have a vet starting in Detroit, but I also don't want that to be his first start where it's like, oh, like, yeah, we have you in there because you're a vet. You've seen everything and we want you in there in the loud hospital.
Speaker: the environment but he's like but if you've never played with your old line mates in a game before it's like how much is that worth versus Glover just playing his fourth game in a row kind of thing so I do think this week is sort of an inflection point for Zeitler getting in there before the Thursday night game against Carolina because I just think that if you try and push him in against Detroit you're kind of Opening the Pandora's box, you open with, you know, not the same, not apples to apples, but kind of like with what you what you did to, um what's his face, um to Burton when it was like, oh, we're finally going to start him. You know, it's a home game, but it's like, oh, it was a Thursday night game and you didn't practice kind of thing. And of course he looked bad, you know, and stuff. So,
Speaker: It remains to be seen what they end up doing. but It could be something as simple, depending on how this game goes, that Zeitler could see playing time towards the end of the game. Right. Maybe they do something akin to what they did with like Elton Jenkins as a rookie, where it's like you're going to get every other series or something like that just to sort of get his feet wet. I don't want them to do that because I want them to just pick one. like like just pick a lane and drive down it kind of thing like and and unless unless you're using that as a ramp up for zeitler but even then i'm kind of like i'm with you where it's like
Speaker: you've got a good thing go it's it could be better you know with Glover at than would you with Glover at right guard but it's been good enough and good enough has just been light years better than what you had before and um if you're gonna change it to go to Zeitler go to Zeitler don't have one foot in and one foot out kind of thing and um especially because Dallas does have Quinn and Williams um and that's the thing too is it's like you know I don't know if you want to wait till it's like, oh, Glover's really struggling against Quinnen. And then it's like, and then you got sort of bring Zeitler in cold off the bench, like a reliever who's not properly warmed up or the bases are loaded and there's only one out kind of situation. So.
Speaker: Yeah, those are the things that, you know, remain to be seen. And as Huber pointed out last week, Zeitler was the starter in practice at right guard.
Speaker: And then this week he's back to being the sixth O-lineman next Belton. So it neither one, you know, um last week didn't track towards Zeitler starting.
Speaker: So we'll see, you know he was active, but he didn't play. So we'll see how it goes heading into week six. But, um,
Speaker: Yeah, it's going to be an interesting matchup for the Packers. We'll start with our defense against their offense. Like I said...
Speaker: I'm just kind of laughing at the number of running backs, former Packer running backs that they have on roster. They've got Tyler Goodson and Izzy Abikonda.
Speaker: you I think this week, or either just this week or last week or something, that's... Yeah. um And then I think Span Ford had a cup of coffee with us at one point.
Speaker: um Yeah. And then they're also littered with former draft draft crushes of ours. They've got your Jonathan Mingo, my Tyler Guyton. Yeah.
Speaker: so yeah ah ah Devin Moore, but he's on IRDTR. I liked him this year. yeah ah so Something I liked as like a D3 tackle prospect for them. and stuff but Schoonmaker. I did like Schoonmaker, even though he was a Wolverine.
Speaker: and you know and And he's just buried behind um Ferguson and Spanford because Spanford, you know Schoonmaker kind of bridges the gap between the two, but he he's not the kind of receiver the way they use Ferguson, even though Ferguson kind of did lose them the game. i don't want say he lost them the game, but he was the final nail in the coffin last week against Tampa Bay when he let that pass go off his hands and then off his face mask.
Speaker: And then... Span forward is, for all intents and purposes, their version of Mark Redman. So, um... You know, we'll see. and that's the thing is, like, a lot of what Dallas is doing is, um you know, they're operating out of their three wide receiver sets, you know, with Lamb, Pickens, and Ryan Flournoy.
Speaker: But they're also putting a lot of 12 and 13 personnel on the field to get, you know, Ferguson on the field with Spanford and some Schoonmaker as well. So um we'll see how the Packers line up, you know.
Speaker: They did acquit themselves pretty well last week against Ben. And that was one of my concerns against the bears was, you know, how are you going to deploy your linebackers your first game without, um, edge Cooper?
Speaker: And, um Outside of one drive, Zaire acquitted himself really well. There is a boomer bust. There is a little bit of a Russian roulette to the way he plays the run where it's like he is you know shooting gaps and he's trying to be strategic about it. But what he misses, it's just like there's just no one left because he's supposed to be the support defender and he's put himself out of position. And so um It remains to be seen and hopefully Hopper can continue to expand his role as um the other linebacker in the defense. So we'll see how that goes.
Speaker: And then it's what we talked about with the injury list. Who is going to dress at cornerback? So CC is a go. He's not on the injury report after, you know, the teeth and then um and after his his ah his listing with the teeth and all that kind of stuff. So he's been off the injury report for a bit.
Speaker: And um and he you know he had the concussion concern coming out of the Tampa Bay game. But, um you know, I don't... Unless they were just being overly cautious, and even then, I'm not comfortable putting any DB out there on the field who's dealing with any kind of groin discomfort or injury.
Speaker: And especially if it's if it's Nixon, who already lacks um makeup speed and explosiveness, and it's like, and now he's compromised, you know, he's he's got a compromised groin. Like, that's not great.
Speaker: So... We'll see what they choose to do on defense. But like I said, it's going to be on the front four to put pressure on Dak.
Speaker: And, you know we'll get into it in over-under. I think this is a game where Lucas could have a good game. um because Steele has not been himself since coming back from his ACL repair and has not been the same guy.
Speaker: And like you said, Guyton, he's been off to a pretty good start to the season, but that back flared up on him during the Tampa Bay game. And I know he was able to go back in after it, but...
Speaker: you you get You have to hold up to Lucas' power rushes one too many times or one too many times the wrong way and that thing could lock up on him again. And then it's Roger Jones, who they acquired from the Steelers, and it's like, Lucas should have success there, but we'll see.
Speaker: we'll We'll see how the cards play out when this game starts. Yeah, and, you know, it'll be interesting to see what they do at corner, like you just said.
Speaker: I know they have Kamal Haddon who is looking really good as a slot guy, but with Javon Bullard playing, you can't really have him as a slot guy So you got to I mean, he he played okay in limited snaps when he was playing on the outside, but he still is a UDFA, you know, a former UDFA. You don't know what you really have with him. You hope...
Speaker: It's a lot of hope. And I know I've been saying hope a lot this episode, but it's a lot of hope with him that, you know, that he's really turning it on and he's doing what he, you know, he's going to become something. He may never be a a true number one, you know, but he could be that two or three that you could use. And then you got Carrington, who we both said is pretty solid in coverage. He just can't tackle to save his life. He's not a physical guy, so that That is an issue with with guys that they have ah the Cowboys have a wide receiver.
Speaker: That being said... Javon Bullard has been playing lights out so far this year. He has ah had a couple of mistakes here or there. Yeah, I will give you that. But he's been playing solid.
Speaker: And Xavier has really started picking things up. I know Evan Williams has, it says he's sick. We don't know quite what he's dealing with. So...
Speaker: you know we don't know how that's going to be when when comes to game time and it is a later game so they are going to be able to push it for most of the game or for most of the day before having to make a ah big decision on him but I do expect to see Cissรฉ on Lamb a lot.
Speaker: It's not the most ideal thing, but you hope the first five weeks of the season has given Cissรฉ enough of a taste of what he's going to be going against in in the rest of the season that you know he's going to be able to at least handle it.
Speaker: and And so, yeah. Yeah. And one of the big differences between the Dallas game last year and this year is um we just didn't have interior defensive linemen last You know, we had Wyatt at that point. Wyatt was relatively healthy, but I think he got dinged up in the middle of the Dallas game.
Speaker: And then, you know, that's when Wooden was playing like 70 percent of the snaps and there was no one else really there with him. So. um You do have more and I think better bodies for the scheme than you did last year, but one of the keys is the front four is going to have to be able to control the line of scrimmage this game or front four or five depending if we're in the 3-4 look or if we're in our sub packages and stuff. but They're going to have to โ you can't let Dallas get easy yards on the ground with Javante Williams, and he's not off to as good of a start this season as he was last season.
Speaker: But that was one of the the ways they got themselves in trouble in Dallas last year is not only was โ hot that night, but they were also to get able to get their run game going against us. And you you can't be giving the opposing team a two-way go. And like I said, this is one of the angles where you need your offense to continue humming off the lap you know off the off of last week's game um to be that extra defensive push for your defense, which is, like I said, they're playing well overall this season, but you are trying to still, you know, you're still without Micah.
Speaker: You still, you know, when Lucas isn't on the field, the pass rush gets really dicey if Ganon isn't blitzing. And you're still figuring out exactly what your plan of action is without Edge Cooper.
Speaker: And, you know, he's somewhere between your second and third. He, you know, he might be your second best player. He's definitely one of your top three most important players on defense. um And, you know...
Speaker: two of your most two of your three most important defensive players are not on the field this week because micah's still on pup and um koop is on uh injured reserves so you know that's how it is but it'll be really interesting to see what happens and like i said there is a reality where domani jackson is active for his first nfl game on sunday no matter if Nixon or St. Jude is able to go. I just don't think they're going to go into this game with just five cornerbacks. And if both of them can go, Jackson is absolutely getting elevated this week.
Speaker: For sure. For sure. And, you know, i know people are going to ah kind of poo-poo it because, oh, well, he didn't look good during preseason. Yeah, but he missed a lot of time during the preseason. Because he had his own corrective surgery. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, so we don't know what he's going to be able to do. I did like him coming out of college, going into the draft. So i you got to hope that... Again, that word, hope. You got to feel like the the reason why he didn't look that good in preseason is because he was dealing with coming back from his surgery and his injuries. Yeah.
Speaker: yeah ah The best trait he would bring is he is like he's not a tall, tall corner, but he is 6'1", so he's he's not going to just get absolutely manhandled like Valentine did at times during last year's game in Dallas. so um and And he is a physical guy, you so you know he's going to tackle. You don't have to worry about him not tackling or jumping back from a tackle or...
Speaker: throwing a shoulder and hoping that takes him down takes a guy down. And he's a... he he if i I'd have to look through my notes on him, but I think he was a little bit more of a press corner than he was zone guy. That's how Bama plays. Yeah, so that would help with Gannon's defense a little bit more. But yeah, let's go ahead and jump the offensive side. We're getting a little bit long episodes, so...
Speaker: so I got to still have time to to edit and all that shit. So on the other side of the ball, as kind of noted before, Green Bay really should be able to get whatever they want on this side of the ball. I don't mean to just um throw that out there without care, but like Dallas is so bad on defense. And like So many other sites have made the joke about how so many people wanted Christian Parker as the coordinator and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker: He wasn't necessarily the guy I wanted, but I admit, like, I've been totally wrong about Ganon. I was really worried about how Ganon would just be a we're going to rush forward, drop seven kind of guy and all that kind of stuff. I've been really pleased with how he's really just been a pachinko machine in terms of like well I'm gonna do this I you know he he wants to get to cover for but how am I gonna get there and how what am I gonna throw at you to to mess you up on your side of the wall on your side of the ledger but the thing with watching Dallas on defense is I can't tell you what it is they're trying to hang their hat on as a unit like is it like they they can't stop the run
Speaker: Well, this is how pitiful it's been. before Before you get into it, this is how pitiful they are. They just brought Mike Pettin in as a defensive assistant. and there are different opinions on like what exactly he's being asked to do there kind of thing because like you know and the overarching thing is like he's been pretty helpful in this sort of senior advisory role in his previous stops kind of thing but there are the murmurs of like if it's another but and you know because it's jera you know jera is running the show overall it's like
Speaker: There are the murmurs of if it's another one to two weeks of ah repeats of like the Houston Tampa games on defense. It's like, is Parker gone by week eight kind of thing and stuff, which sounds absurd for a lot. But like Dallas expected to go places this season and the NFC East is not good. Like, so, yeah, it everything is on the table.
Speaker: um So like up front, They have the... It's sad to say this, but it really is the ghost of Kenny Clark because there's just so many clips floating around of Kenny getting absolutely manhandled in the run game or in pass parole.
Speaker: At this point, it it really does look like the the the just years of compounded playing 80% of the snaps for the Packers have taken their toll on him.
Speaker: you He's still only... i think he's only turning 30 this year. Something like that. But he looks like he's 35 at times just because his body is just so beat up. um But Quinton Williams is still a dangerous player.
Speaker: um But he is just one man up front. And... um What's it called? And then you get to the second level players. You know, that's the thing. Demarvian Overshone usually is like a Tasmanian devil, but he's not been healthy. In his place, rookie Jason Barham has been playing pretty good and has made some impact plays for Dallas.
Speaker: um Old friend Rashawn Gary is there. um Again, former draft... crush Donovan Ezerouk, who is on one of the edges. um The guy they picked with our first round pick, Malachi Lawrence, is there as well as a rookie edge rusher.
Speaker: um And then on the back end, you have touted rookie Caleb Downs. um But then like they're just hoping Porter Jr. can play soon because their corners are god awful.
Speaker: I was just looking at their depth chart. They have him as listed as a starter on the depth chart. They do, but he's like inconsistently practiced so far and stuff. so Oh, I know. I'm just saying that's how much they they are wanting him to be the starter. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, um again, protect Jordan.
Speaker: We saw what... That's the thing is the last two weeks have shown... how much better Jordan looks when he has it decent pass protection. And the difference between the Tampa game and the Bears game is you weren't dropping passes.
Speaker: You weren't getting called for a shitload of stupid penalties. um And Jordan had that much more, you know, he had one more week of being comfortable with his pass protection that he was again back to, you know, the guy we saw early in the Minnesota game where it's like, sure, I might get hit here or there, but I'm going to stand in the pocket. I'm going to stand and deliver and, you know, put the ball on my guys kind of thing.
Speaker: And realistically, that's what he should be able to do against this Cowboys defense who, like I said, I don't know what... They're trying to hang their hat on because, you know, they've drafted all these young edge guys, you know, they signed Rashawn and they're like, okay, we're going to be able to rotate all these, you know, Ezraku, Lawrence, but Ezraku and Lawrence still look like they're a year away from being a year away kind of thing. Lawrence definitely is.
Speaker: Eze Raku flashes, but then he has other plays where it's like, where did six go kind of thing. And then, you know, Gary is still getting beat by misdirection, you know, not offering the greatest pass rush.
Speaker: And at the same time, he can do the things that give our tackles problems because... the one thing that is his best move that mike wall banged his head against the wall trying to beg rashan to do it more is his long arm speed to power move and both morgan and belton have had issues with that in the past and you know belton you know that pff stat is going around where he's like the third longest streak of you know snaps without a pressure a allowed and stuff. And i think what's really working for Belton since um week four is he's finally playing to his size where he's like, I'm not i'm not a dancing bear. I'm not going to try and like completely mirror the edge rusher in front of me.
Speaker: I'm just going to say I'm going to step... you know in rhythm it's kind of what tausher would do where it's like i'm gonna so i'm gonna get to my pass pro set i'm gonna protect my inside shoulder and i'm just gonna make you beat me around the edge and now belton is obviously way bigger than tausher was but he's playing the percentages that it's like i'm big i'm wide i'm pretty strong and it's like you're not i'm not gonna let you come inside of me and i'm not gonna let you come through me so you're gonna have to beat me to the edge and I'm just gonna shove you past Jordan if it gets to that so and then on top of that you have LaFleur who for all the things we bellyache over the one of the best things LaFleur does is his pass protection schemes both in terms of how he calls his plays how he sets up um his his old linemen for success and he's really good at
Speaker: Obviously against teams like Dallas where it's like who is the pass rush threat but also against teams where there's like one guy and so like for example let's just say he's like Quinnen Williams you're the target this week because it's like we're not getting beat by inside pressure and so yeah like I would be pretty surprised if, especially coming, and I get it, da he's had Dennis Allen's number pretty much honestly every day. Even though they've lost two of or three of the games against Dennis Allen, he has had his number.
Speaker: in terms of being prepared for his scheme. um He's really just undressed his defense when he's when he's um when they've been matched up. Parker's kind of more of like a Fangio-ish disciple in that sense, where it's like there's a lot of zone, it's a lot of like sim pressure and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker: But um this would be a week where, you know, going to knock on wood right now. I would be shocked if Dallas was getting consistent pressure. The one concern I do have is that Eze Raku and Lawrence, they have the the pedigree of being speed rushers. And like I said, Rashawn has the one move that can give Morgan and Belton problems. It's just that he doesn't use it nearly. and you know That was his bugaboo in Green Bay a lot was he didn't use it nearly enough.
Speaker: And it would be... Really fucking annoying if he did it against us that like that. He's like I'm gonna play 60 snacks it snaps and you know 90% of my pass rush is gonna be long arm over Russia's like fucking Rashawn, but um It's what we asked for for years with him. I know and So it again is just gonna come down to protect Jordan and Let him attack the secondary because Daron Bland is basically more expensive. Keyshawn Nixon, but, you know, gets more interceptions.
Speaker: You don't know if you're going to see Joey Porter Jr. And even if you do, he hasn't played this year yet. Like, he hasn't played yet this year and he's been nursing injuries. So it's like,
Speaker: I don't know if this is the week that necessarily is going to be a good matchup for you to get your first hit when Watson and Golden are running hot and Sturdivant hasn't been a slouch.
Speaker: And oh yeah, you're probably going to end up having to cover Kraft or Jonu Smith at some point too. so It's going to be like facing a pitcher who has five pitches and it's like, oh shit, I don't i don't get to just cover one guy. It's like I got to do a a bunch of different things and stuff.
Speaker: And like I said, it could even if it's just a one-week mirage, if this is the week where the run game gets going, even if it's just for this week, that'll be great. like you know You know what would help that?
Speaker: Don't sit one of your running backs for three quarters and then expect to have a decent running room. Yep. So, um you know, Lloyd showed ah off a little bit better vision last week and the ability to run behind his pads.
Speaker: You know, Caleb, with his better with his going back to his old shoulder pads, had the longest run of the day and stuff. and And you know what? like Maybe he's in the doghouse, whatever kind of thing.
Speaker: Breaking that kind of run, that's how you get yourself out Breaking that run and not fumbling, that's how you get yourself out of the doghouse. But I agree. It's all hands on deck. And for LaFleur, like I said, I don't expect the flying middle finger that he he was sticking to Johnson all game.
Speaker: But I do expect him to kind of be like, hey, part of what got us in trouble in this Dallas game last year is like, I didn't go for it on fourth down when we were up 7-0.
Speaker: I mismanaged the game situation at the end of the first half and that put us behind the eight ball kind of thing.
Speaker: And then, you know, in overtime, it was, oh, I didn't push the throttle down when we had momentum and we had the ball and a chance to score game winning he touchdown. And so it won't be the I fucking hate Ben Johnson kind of like aggressive play calling, but it'll still be a that fucking tie. It's on my record and everyone's pissy about it. And so I'm pissy about like it'll be that kind of like.
Speaker: And we're in Lambeau. Yeah, and and more to the fans of, a see, I can fucking do this thing. like like like So we need we need that energy from LaFleur, but that's all I got. Any other bits you wanted to touch on going this? No, while you were doing your stuff, I was kind of looking through the coaching staff. And again, it's amazing how many guys have Packer ties.
Speaker: Uh... Ryan Fetter was ah with the Packers for a short time. ah Derek Ansley was with the Packers last year. They brought in Petten. And then the two guys that really, it's amazing. Talk about blast from the past.
Speaker: ah Their past game specialist is Ken Dorsey and their offensive assistant and will is Will Greer.
Speaker: So, but other than that, no, I, I, I agree with you. they Again, i you know, I said it earlier that this, now that you've seen how the offense can run through Jordan, continue it.
Speaker: Yes, throw your runs in there. Yes, do whatever, but continue to run your offense through Jordan. Let Jordan do his th throws. Let... Watson and and Golden get theirs. Let Sturdivant get his. He's owed one.
Speaker: ah you know Tucker should be a big thing for this game. So, yeah. Just come out healthy. Come out with the win, and we'll be good.
Speaker: So, I mean, i guess that means you want us to go through these over-unders then, huh? Yeah. Okay. ah One of them you're going have to change because you misread it. Uh... Ah, yeah.
Speaker: So, first one, i kind of did a combine on some of these just to make it a little bit... easier. ah so the first one I've got is golden and Watson combined for 175 and a half yards.
Speaker: I think what was it they were at 270 some this past week or 260 some this past week. I don't expect that again. So I did set this a little bit lower.
Speaker: and if they can, you know, pass get the ball passed around a little bit more, get a few more guys in there. and use them. Hopefully not a Bill Melton, but you know, whatever. So 175 and a half. What do you got?
Speaker: I got over, like you said, not quite 260, whatever, 250. two fifty I do think it's going to be over just because I, again, I'm going to ride and die with Matthew Golden. So, you know, give him the 140 this week with the two touchdowns and we should be good.
Speaker: um This one's going to be going on there until he it happens. Cissรฉ gets his first interception. And because of that, I'm gonna flip it i'm gonna I'm gonna invoke Sterling Sharp and I'm gonna vote against it until it to to reverse jinx it. So I'm gonna say no, because saying yes hasn't worked to this point.
Speaker: You know, I'm going to keep going with the yes because he's been getting good play. He he did get the pass break up this last game. You know, he has had good coverage. He's starting to tighten up on the the mistakes a little bit more. So again, this is going to be a big test for him with with guys like CeeDee Lamb and, oh I don't have the other ones, but like Talbert and Talbert's not there anymore.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, whatever. I had it pulled up at one moment, but I didn't i couldn't remember who was all there. Yeah, float ah Turpin. Turpin was the one I was thinking of. uh mingo and and guys like that that that can be hands handfuls so yeah uh i say he does uh lucas over under half a sack the reason it's set at half a sack is because he has went without a sack for the last couple weeks and for the people that are saying it no it's not because it's he sucks he's been getting constant pressure he's been getting being a force on the line he just hasn't been able to
Speaker: finish why he's getting the double team treatment until somebody on the other side proves yeah that they need that they can take over so what do you over under half a sack I got over because, like I said, if Guyton's at all compromised by the back or if Broderick Jones has to come in, I think Lucas has the advantage over those two guys. And I think that if he has to rush against Steele, he'll have the advantage on him.
Speaker: And I do... Like, we saw him get... Like, his best pressure against the Bears was from the interior um when he rushed over um Joe Tooney on that one play. And I think that was the one...
Speaker: and on that play it wasn't cc's oh no maybe it was cc's sack but um like he he got some pressure from the interior and i just think he's gonna convert some of those uh so yeah i got the over yeah i'm gonna take the over i think he gets at least one this week i think because dds is really starting to step up and and why it's starting to come alive too why it's starting to come alive and he's still got britain cox rotating in in there so I think it's going to happen.
Speaker: This one I just kind of threw on there. i have I see what you have, but I... Okay, McKinney over under half an interception. I don't think he's going to get one this week ah just because i think that...
Speaker: If there are interceptions, it's going to come from a guy like Asise, or it's going to be Javon Bullard. I think they're going to try getting away from Xavier as much as they can. You know, as much as we everybody likes to rag on Dak, he is still a competent quarterback, so he is going to do what he can to not throw it near where Xavier McKinney can get it.
Speaker: ah But he is still going to make mistakes, and I think that's what opens it up for other people. And I've got the over because like one of the touchdowns he threw last year was with McKinney in coverage. um And then you just had some of those kind of prayer balls that he put up last year where it was, like you said, it was more with Williams in coverage. But if you are able to heat him up or you get the score in a position where Dallas has to throw, Dak will start to just say, okay, I need my guys to go and make plays kind of thing. And
Speaker: like That's the thing with Dak is like he has a good enough NFL arm, but the ball will hang on him at times. And that's when X goes and really has that magnetic pull towards the football. So that's why I've got him at an over on this one.
Speaker: This one's another combined one. I've got Johnson and Lloyd combining for 99.5 yards. I know it's a bit of a hope for it just because of they haven't got anywhere close to that yet.
Speaker: So I'm taking the over just because i i'm as long as they get Johnson and more playing time, ah And it's, again, I don't want people thinking, oh, well, it's because he's a former Hawkeye. No, it's because if you have a solid rotation of two guys, then you're going to be able to get a little bit more. Lloyd is a little bit more of your lightning. Johnson is a little bit more of your thunder. Two different types of running backs can start opening things up. And like you said, like I've pointed out, a lot of these explosive runs have come from Caleb Johnson.
Speaker: Yeah, and that's the thing is like not only that, Dallas has given up a lot of them because they're just, their run fits are bad, their players don't tackle very, it's everything that you can be bad at in run defense, they're bad at all of it. And I know they've got the mini bye, but you don't think, like I said,
Speaker: You don't practice the way you practice you need to practice to fix these things within a week kind of thing. So, yeah, this is more of a... It's more of a what Dallas is doing wrong than what Green Bay is doing, right? But also, they are doing better because the O-line is playing better. And because the O-line is playing better, the backs are seeing things better and stuff.
Speaker: And like you said, my whole thing with Johnson is like... He's like, there's a reality where none of these running backs are on the roster next season, but for the time being, for the 2026 Packers, Johnson is your best player.
Speaker: What's a facsimile of what Jacobs gave you in terms of being an interior inside the inside the box pounder type of running back. And yeah, I do think they're looking for that kind of action in the run game. And I do think that's why they've gotten there. He's got the more explosive runs out of the group because it's off those interior duo and pull power pull plays where he's the guy who is just going to drop his shoulders and like hit the whole hard kind of thing and stuff. So that's why I've got the over.
Speaker: I was trying to pull something up here real quick, but of course the stupid verification thing, uh, I think, yeah, he's averaging 3.9 yards in attempt and just as limited 27 rushes.
Speaker: So, you know, that that's pretty solid compared to what he's, what this offense has been doing. ah You know, Tampa Bay, he averaged 5.3. Against the Giants, he averaged 4.
Speaker: The Bears, he averaged a little bit under with 3.7. And then the you can't count the Atlanta game just because nobody was getting anything. He averaged 1.5, but yeah, nobody was getting anything during that Atlanta game. So if, ah again, if I had to sit down with Matt LaFleur, I would have to ask him what the hell the issue was there just because...
Speaker: i You can't do that. I understand the Packers were really giving it to the Bears and you could you could do it, but yeah, that's that's not the way to do things.
Speaker: Next one is DDS gets his sack over under half a sack. I'm going to say no because Lucas is getting him
Speaker: I'm going to say yes, because I think he is you know they're going to continue to try to double team Lucas, and that is going to free up DDS a little bit. And DDS, like I said, has been slowly taking that step towards being maybe not an all-around type of guy right now, but at least that pass rusher at the moment.
Speaker: This one's a fun one. And I had to throw this on there just because of who they are and of the ramifications of rashaun gary and kenny clark combined for half a sack i'm gonna say yes just because like i said um what's it called rashaun does if rashaun does the one thing that gives belton and morgan problems he could get one and or kenny might just get like a coverage one especially if glover starts kind of thing
Speaker: I'm gonna say no. i mean, i i this is no ah shade against Kenny. You know, I love the guy, but yes, he is starting to... um The cliff, he's he's halfway down the cliff at this point. It hurts to say it, but like like I said, the the all the jokes about how young he was and how many snaps he could play, it looks like that cumulative effect has really taken its toll on him.
Speaker: But Vershawn is also getting less and less snaps from the way it appears. So, yeah, yeah i I just don't see it happening. So I took the under on it. Mike threw one on here real quick. So Johnnie Redman get a touchdown. I could say yes. I think Johnnie will get it.
Speaker: um
Speaker: Geez, if I could spell here. Yeah, ah yeah I think Johnnie could get it Yeah, I'm going to say yes. I think that they're going to run some kind of red zone thing out of 13. They had that streak in 2023 where all the rookies scored their first touchdown within like four weeks of each other kind of thing. I think it's going to be something like that.
Speaker: Well, and I could also see it being that instead of, to kind of change things up, instead of Kraft taking the the Tucker Shove or Tucker Trucker or whatever we're calling it, John who does it and drives in for the touch. Because I know it was...
Speaker: it was the dolphins but john who does have a couple of decent rushes in him so i i could see him being in the type that he could be a he could do the tucker trucker or craft whatever slice or love shove or whatever you want to call it yep but That's it for our over-unders. You got anything else you want to go over? or um No, let's wrap it up.
Speaker: One bit of programming. so um Because it's the Sunday night game, we will like this there isn't going to be a separate live and recap episode. Speaker: And just right along with us, you know, we're hoping for um we're hoping for another win this weekend to push our record to 4-2. Hopefully you can make up some ground on the Vikings if they'll finally decide that winning is not the most important thing in the world. but I have no clue how they're pulling that shit off either.
Speaker: Like, I'm just hoping that they're burning through their um their voodoo magic ah their voodoo magic dust early in the season. um But you know what? Hey, like I said, that just gives you more incentive to have to keep pace. And you got to do what you got to do to keep up with them.
Speaker: Of course, I think they're on a bye this week. So I say all that. And yeah, I'm pretty sure the Vikings are on a bye this week. So yeah. ah You can get a half game closer if you you pull this off in wins. So um do what you got to do. But for Iowa Joe, I'm Mike.
