There's no right way to do it.
00:00:12
Speaker
Oh, we're gonna get into it. oh
00:00:20
Speaker
Oh God, okay. Oh no, I'm feeling like, okay. What up moms? My name is Candice and I'm here with my best friend Whitney and this is the Mom Group Chat podcast. What up, sicky girl? I know you guys, I'm so sorry. I am sick today. We have fallen ill in my house with a classic back to school cold. It happens. I knew it was coming. Everyone is coming everyone gets it.
00:00:48
Speaker
I would love to, I wish we could do like a real time poll to how many people are sick at this very moment because I would be, I would bet that it's a lot of people like.
00:01:00
Speaker
I mean i would I remember last year there was two girls in our cul-de-sac that started kindergarten and they were sick over and over and over again because they had been um like stay-at-home moms with the kids and so they were sick constantly last year when they went to kindergarten um but yeah even like Graydon who's a vet got sick because yeah All new people are coming in, so. Totally. So when I dropped Alice off on, or sorry, when I picked her up on Tuesday, the teacher, or the teacher was like, yeah, she's had a little bit of runny nose. I was like, yeah, we've been finding out for cold. She was like, everyone is sick. There's 11 kids in her class and they only had five on what Tuesday. say Yeah. So I was like, damn, well, we didn't get it that bad. Like.
00:01:48
Speaker
she hasn't had a fever yeah anything like that it's literally just super runny nose and like ickiness you know well still yeah you can send your kid to school with a runny nose and oh yeah trend so That's my life. It is what it is. So I'm sorry if I sound a little nasally today and a little stuffy. And if I'm clearing my throat, I usually edit those things out. So we'll see. Which is so funny, because I'm the throat clearer. It's like a nervous tick. Or I was just saying, like I live in allergy central. like Tennessee is just like green and lush. And it stays pollinating, man. And I am just always clearing my throat.
00:02:31
Speaker
Yeah, that is. Yeah, I edit all of the episodes and that is the number one thing I edit out is Whitney's throat clearing. It's like people are going to meet me in person and be like she's freaking annoying. That's all she does. I always think about Claudia from the toes talking about Ben and how he's constantly clearing his throat and like coughing and like doing things.
00:02:54
Speaker
It's like, I mean, he's worse than you are, I think. But every time I'm editing an episode, like every five minutes, Whitney is like, I want to right now. And I'm trying to build it back. I mean, let's just this episode is going to be the throat clearing episode because I'm going to be doing it, too. So. Oh, my God. That's funny. I actually listen to the good guys. I think they're funny. They are funny. I like them a lot. I like I like Ben and Josh a lot. Josh is like.
00:03:24
Speaker
has such a good sense of humor. And like whenever they get asked questions, Ben will pop off, which I feel like I resonate a little more with Ben. like It's just like the first thought that comes to my head. And then you and Josh are so thoughtful with your answers. And it's like, well, that's us. It's the it's the dynamic that works. yeah It's like, yeah, I love it.
00:03:47
Speaker
Well, I'm so excited about today's episode. Today is all about baby Margo and Whitney. So I thought this could be a really fun tradition for us as our kids get older. And every time we hit a year milestone with each of our babies, this can be a tradition of like a birthday interview kind of.
00:04:11
Speaker
like not only about your baby's first year but also about your experience as a mom in Margot's first year and then also looking forward to the future and the next year and I think I don't know about you but I don't do any sort of baby book I wish I did yeah but I feel like this could be like a digital baby book on the first year and and just every year like I think we'll do one for Graydon and this can be like our mom group chat tradition. I just when Candace brought this idea to me I was like that is so nice like
00:04:47
Speaker
I don't know. When you're hearing about other people's kids, it's like, do you care? Like I care. Obviously, like I was thrilled at the idea and I was like, I would love to talk about Margo. Like I hope everyone else gets something out of it. But I mean, it is kind of for us a little bit. So I appreciated the thought.
00:05:06
Speaker
Yeah, well, I also thought we could share the these lists of questions in our Facebook group. And if you have a child who has a birthday coming up, or you just want to like reminisce a little bit on each, that this can be like a simplified look at the year like baby book type thing. um So yeah. But before we get into the interview, like the birthday interview, I want a full recap of Margot's beautiful, gorgeous garden birthday party that happened. Oh, my God, it was so fun. um I had stressed up until like the very last minute on it um until about like 12 o'clock. Her party was at three. And then all of a sudden I was just like, it's go time, baby. And I was excited from them then on. um
00:05:57
Speaker
We did a garden theme and I took my friend Taylor's advice to not focus so much on the aesthetic of every little thing and just really focus on some cutesy parts. So I just made my island super floral. I did a little backdrop for Margo, which she hated. I know. I want you to tell us about that because that is so funny and niche. Oh, my God. We did this garden wall and put like We hung up that grassy thing that, you know, millions of people use. It's like the grass backdrop. Yeah. And what a conundrum. She hated it. We stuck real roses in it, hung it. She hated it from like the beginning. We had been building- Okay. When you say, I need you to elaborate more, like what do you mean? Like she looked at it and would cry? Like what was happening? Pretty much. Like we kind of started building it just to like,
00:06:51
Speaker
see how we were gonna hang it. um I thought it came with a base and it didn't so then we like actually hung it to my wall like took down my painting my huge painting that goes right there and we took that down and hung it up and she would take one look at it and grab our clothes as tight as possible and like basically climb up our body even if we were holding our like climb up and be like and like scream and cry and whine anytime she looked at it what so that that was it like undecorated she was scared to death of it we put the roses in it and i was like well this is like do or die like let's see if she like doesn't mind it decorated so we stuck all the roses on it put the happy birthday like made it look more appealing and she's still like
00:07:37
Speaker
was a little worrisome about it so literally the whole day she just like was a little clingy when you walked by it we had her like birthday pictures right there which were like super quick she did not want to be freaking near it it was like That is so funny. One of your videos made me laugh because you had told me via text, obviously, that she like didn't like this wall. And in one of the videos you posted, she had started to kind of look back at it and you were like, oh, no. You were like, don't look back there. Yeah, we were all like, ah, like tiptoeing around the wall. and And I mean, we had to take her out of her seat like we sing Happy Birthday. And she was like, OK, get me out of here. Like, I don't like it. So we like. That is so interesting. I wonder.
00:08:22
Speaker
I wonder what it is. I like honest to God like she was a little whiny. I thought she had an ear infection. I was like something something's wrong and then we I took it down that night and like the next day she was happy again. She just hated the wall and in the house.
00:08:38
Speaker
I was like, oh, funny. Okie dokie. But yeah, we had a very clear aesthetic. She's like, Mom, this isn't this is not the aesthetic. I had to I had to throw it away because I'm like, or I mean, I had to hide it. I put it in the garage. She crawled past it in the garage and did a 90 degree turn. She was like, oh, like skirt. And she screamed. And so I was like, OK, I can't freaking hide it in the garage even. So it's like,
00:09:09
Speaker
What do I do with it? I don't know. It's like out in my backyard hiding. That is so funny. So I don't know what I'm going to do with it. I'm like, she'll grow out of it maybe. But anyway, we had a little bouncy house in the backyard, mostly for the older kids. She hated that too. I was like, something's wrong. She hasn't even made it. Oh no. But no, she just didn't like some of the stuff. So maybe this gets you off the hook for the next party, just like no decorations at all. Yeah, seriously. She loved the flowers. Great. The most expensive part. I was going to say she's got expensive taste. Yeah. And that was probably the most stressful part because you had to do that kind of close up to the party.
00:09:49
Speaker
but Yeah, it was great. We had friends and family um and like honestly mostly my neighbors and they took up like honestly 18 spots of that day. um And the party was at three and like our neighbors stayed over until like 11 something at night. Like it just became a day.
00:10:10
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I love that. I wish I was there. I mean, I had serious FOMO, you know. I was like really needy on Monday. I was like, Whitney, you haven't talked to me all day, all weekend. oh When you're entertaining and like family was in town. But yeah, it was so fun. And like we have a fire pit in our backyard that we like never utilize. And like we were sitting around that all night. And I was like, wow, we we're actually using this. like It was just one of those oh my god those days. What food did you serve?
00:10:38
Speaker
Publix, um, those nugs and subs and fruit bowls. And I got like tons of bags of chips and goldfish and applesauce. And we got a smash cake and a actual cake. So.
00:10:53
Speaker
Amazing. Yeah. was Well, it all looked so cute and beautiful. And once everyone was there and the party actually happened, was it relatively stress free? Oh, I mean, yeah, I was. It's like day of. You kind of like let go and let God, you know, you're just kind of like, you're like, I don't think I can do now. yeah And honestly, like whoever can come, the more of the merrier, like you just kind of let down whatever. And we had.
00:11:20
Speaker
plenty of alcohol. So I was just pouring it up. I was having rosé, having a good time. It was great. Okay. This is probably like getting to in the weeds here, but do you like let people serve themselves alcohol wise? Yeah. Like, how do you set that up? I feel like that's something I struggle with is sometimes when we have guests over, I don't know. I like, I end up being the person that's like getting people's stuff all the time. And I struggle with like how to set it up.
00:11:52
Speaker
to like where people just help themselves. I think that that is like a good hosting thing for you to do. Like, I mean, I don't, but I think that that's great that you do. I love when people like, if I'm just standing and talking and someone's like, can I pour you some more? I'm like, damn, thank you.
00:12:08
Speaker
Like I think that is so nice and I love when people do that for me, but like I just didn't. Um, cause I was more focused on like mingling and saying hi to everybody that came. yeah Um, I just set up, uh, like a trough inside and full of wine. There was two rosé and two white wine and then red was all inside. And then we had coolers outside full of beer.
00:12:31
Speaker
and coke and water So it was like, help yourself. And anytime someone walked in, I was like, this is where this is. This is where the beer is. Go at it. So, okay. Yeah, I struggle with that. I sometimes like, I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. And I think I struggle with it the most during a kid's party only because.
00:12:51
Speaker
I want to be present with my kid during their party and like just focus on them and hosting can be sometimes like can take you away from the party. Oh, my God. That's so funny because I didn't see Margo the whole time. Just like they were like, should we do cake? And I was like, oh, that's why we're here. Yep. Cake. Oh, wait, you have to tell them about the rocks. Oh, God, the pain of my existence. We have. Oh, I hate them.
00:13:20
Speaker
We have tiny, tiny like pebble rocks. We built this, it's like gravel rocks. you know we yeah we We got a little zesty and built this fire pit area. And we did it for Graydon's first birthday. Like not for it, but like we wanted this cool like fall backyard thing. We're like, let's make our backyard so cool. We like ripped out bushes and like installed this and got like pebble gravel.
00:13:48
Speaker
Oh, I hate it because the kids love it. And they dig in it. The babies eat them. I swear to God, Mario had 15 as poop and rocks all week. um I found them in Graydon's bed. I found sand in Graydon's bed. i found I found pebble rocks down on the other side of my yard on top of like toys. im was like Did people did these kids like carry them in like in their shirt and just walk around with them? Found them all over my house, like on my chairs. I was like, oh, my God. I hate them. Oh, my God. You didn't need a bounce house. you You have all the fun that anyone needs in the in the pebble rocks. All in the water table. Like, oh, my my God. That is so funny. just OK, I know we talked about this when I visited, but there's a way you can seal them. Yeah.
00:14:47
Speaker
I know it's like a whole nother project. You're like, fuck that. I don't want another project. But yeah, because Margot is going to like grow out of it. Yeah, true. Honestly, she'll probably grow out of it within the next six months and it's going to get cold. So it's not like we're hanging out. Well, actually, we'll probably start hanging out there way more. I was going to say i we hang out way more. and we Yeah, I'm like probably up until like Thanksgiving and then she'll grow out of it by next spring. So it's kind of like, ah,
00:15:16
Speaker
You're like, why just? Yeah, I get it. And it's I mean, it's not like we like sit back there with the neighbors or anything. So it's if we're sitting out there, it's not for like long periods of time, I guess. Yeah, we're mostly like to get it. Oh, man. But yeah, hate them. Hate them.
00:15:38
Speaker
I know. But the pooping rocks is so funny. It was it made me laugh so hard. I was like, oh, my God, that is hilarious. yes Yeah, you got to keep an eye on her. And we typically do a really good job, but.
00:15:51
Speaker
And it was like past the baby at the party. So. I get it. You just kind of let go and like, yeah it's fine. She's fine. She's great. Yeah. Okay. One last question is about gifts. I feel like this is a question we get a lot on Instagram and on our ah Facebook page, like from other moms. What it did you ask for anything specifically? Did you get anything good? What was the gift situation like?
00:16:18
Speaker
I will say a lot of people reached out and asked what. Oh, yeah. I love that. Yeah. A lot of people did. And I honestly like didn't have like a firm answer for them. I was just like, look, she doesn't have like a ton of toys. um So I was like, anything pink girly like she loves soft dolls stuffed animals like blankets. So we got a lot of clothes. um And like probably her favorite thing was like a little makeup mirror, which I saw a friend get. And I actually did ask my sister to get her that because I thought it was so cute. It's like a little vanity. And Margo's obsessed with Margo and Graydon. Actually, they both have probably played with that the most. um um out Alice has that, too, at my mom's and she's obsessed. Yeah, she really does it thing. Yeah.
00:17:05
Speaker
Yeah, it's the same one. Yeah, it's super cute. And yeah, and then we didn't open them at the party. yeah No, we're not doing that, which I've seen the trend. A lot of people are not doing anymore. No, because it takes away so hard. Well, she can't. Yeah, it takes away from the party. She can't like even really give a reaction.
00:17:25
Speaker
We did do it at Alice's second birthday because I don't even know we got pressured from someone to do it quickly. I don't know. And it was a disaster because they focus on one toy and then she will like very obviously be like, I don't want that. Yeah.
00:17:42
Speaker
and ah it's just I don't want to hurt anyone's like feelings. you know i had yeah I had two people ask for me to open them. um like One being Des who made her the doll. That doll is so cute. yeah She could have a whole business doing that for real. She knows she can and she won't do it.
00:18:01
Speaker
yeah um yeah so We just didn't open gifts and we opened them the next morning and it was really fun and got to do it as like a little family. So sweet. yeah Well, it all looked so beautiful. um If you haven't seen the pictures, go check out Margo's first birthday on whit Whitney's personal page and maybe we'll link it and post pictures on mom group chat when this episode goes live. Yeah. OK, should we get into my birthday interview? I'm nervous. Oh, don't be nervous. A lot of this stuff is like.
00:18:37
Speaker
Some of it's like super easy, quick. I mean, there's a lot of questions on here. So don't feel like you need to get like too long winded or anything. You know, I'm not. I know. That's why I was like, is this too many questions? And I was like, no, Whitney will be quick. yeah I don't want to talk for too long. Okay. We're just going to dive right in. This first section is all about Margo. Okay. Um, well, first of all, give us Margo's full name and her date of birth.
00:19:06
Speaker
Okay, it's Margo Rhodes Williams, Rhodes after our love for Rhode Island. um And then she was born August 29th, 2023. Amazing. She was nine point five pounds and I cannot believe I pushed her up my Kukala. That was wow wild. Yeah. Yeah. Describe Margo in three words. OK, she is so silly. um I think she's beautiful. o And I think she's fun loving.
00:19:44
Speaker
Cute. And who do you think Margot looks more like, mom or dad? cry Or a mix? Really? Yeah. um My family thinks she looks like me and I was like, y'all are just wanting her too. And Chris's mom showed us a picture of him when he was little. and I swear to God, Chris doesn't remember his childhood. He was like, I didn't get curly hair until puberty. And then she showed a picture of him with curly hair as a baby. And I was like, Chris, you're such a dumb, dumb. That is Margot's hair.
00:20:21
Speaker
um oh my gosh He also thought he went to daycare his whole life and his mom was like, I stayed home with you for two years. and He's like, oh, oh my ah like he doesn't know anything. who That is so funny. Yeah. So she looks like Chris because she looks like Graydon. So it's still you in there too, though. It's annoying. I think she kind of has his personality too a little bit.
00:20:50
Speaker
Oh, interesting. Yeah. That's okay. What is her favorite toy or activity right now? Like what does she really like to do? Um, she loves being chased or likes chasing Graydon or like us. Um, cause she likes like us holding our hands and she'll run and scream like, she will scream, and which means great and chase me. Um, you yeah, that's fun. We play that like all day, every day.
00:21:18
Speaker
And then um her favorite toy. um She like loves a blankie like that just makes her the happiest. She'll roll around on it, but she's liking the makeup mirror right now. Cute. She's a grilly girl. Yeah, we'll see. Okay, what is the funniest moment that you've had with Margo in the first year?
00:21:41
Speaker
I know there's probably a million, but. It's hard to say. I can't remember. She did something funny like the other day that like cracked me up. And it probably was like her seeing the grass wall, like where I like. Hardy laughed. where Yeah, like but because it was like a cartoon when she walked into the garage that she loves, we've kind of converted it into a ah playroom and she like crawled in there so happy she sees it and she's like like literally Just be lined back to the door and screamed. And I laughed so hard because I was like, Margo, you've got to relax on this grassy wall. Like, I don't know. That's so funny. Really funny. OK, what is Margo's favorite food or meal?
00:22:27
Speaker
I think she likes the yogurt pouches just like Graydon. You need to buy stock in Stonyfield or whatever it's called. They are costing me some cash flow on these pouches. They're so expensive. And there's only four in a box. um We buy them from Costco whenever we go, but my God, they are obsessed with that. and But she doesn't really like have a other specific food. Like she's kind of at that age where anything we're eating. anding yeah Yeah. So like it's, we kind of rotate on that. It's like usually at dinner I'm panicking like, Oh shit. Why can I give her like, you can have some of my food. yeah Um, what was the other question you asked? Are the funniest thing? No. I was at the food and I just said favorite food or meal. So you oh meal oh yeah.
00:23:20
Speaker
um Okay, describe one thing that Margo does that melts your heart every time.
00:23:31
Speaker
So Margo's like way more cuddly than Graydon was. Like she will lay her head on you and like kind of give you a smile like I love you.
00:23:42
Speaker
and um if you're like sitting on the ground with her she'll come up and she'll just like want to be on me like Graydon was so always been so independent um and i think i talked about that recently where like I couldn't even put my arm in his car seat and he was like, get it out of here. Yeah. He's like, I don't want you to touch me. Which is another funny thing. They went, Graydon went to the zoo, um, with, I guess his like step cousin. Um, and she didn't bring a stroller and they just put birdie in the stroller with Graydon and he was.
00:24:15
Speaker
yes He doesn't like to share his space. um They were like, yeah, he wasn't too happy. And I was like, oh, I can imagine. um But she's just like a little more cuddly, like in just I think that's just girl versus versus boy. Like she's just yeah a little more like gentle and like.
00:24:35
Speaker
nurturing in a way. Totally. Yeah. Okay. Last question is how has Graydon adjusted to Margo and like what is their relationship like?
00:24:47
Speaker
he He's always really loved her. um He likes babies in general. like He loves seeing pictures of other babies. um But he's always been really good with her. um I think now that she's starting to like take his toys, they're they're fighting. but it's like in a funny way to me. Yeah. um And like he will take her toys but vice versa and they both just fight like that. But like he's he genuinely loves her and from the get go. And he's always been a good brother. He's very huggy with her. um It's not very often that he's not wanting her around. So it's been really good. Yeah, he's he just I think enjoys babies.
00:25:36
Speaker
Okay. That's amazing. yeah You should have more. Okay.
00:25:42
Speaker
okay The next set of questions is about like your experience as a mom in this like yeah first year of Margot's life and have a mom of two. okay So what has been the biggest surprise about becoming a mom of two?
00:26:00
Speaker
Oh, you froze. Sorry. I would say you froze. Oh, um becoming a mom of two. um Maybe just like I know that there were hard parts about the year, but like if I'm looking back and comparing like one versus two, like, I don't know, it couldn't have been like easier or like more amazing than I could have imagined just because They get along so well. They kind of entertain each other. Like sometimes when I just have Mario here, she's like pretty whiny. And I'm like, wow, like it's because Graydon's not around. Like yeah he's her entertainment. I'm like, maybe that's why Graydon was so like needy when he was little because he was alone.
00:26:46
Speaker
He's like, I need a friend. Yeah. And so vice versa. Like she loves that he's around, but watching them like blossom together just like tugs at your heart. But I think it's just been easier. um I think I was meant to have to and. um Yeah, I just I like I've always talked about that. I love the balance of them and the balance of our family. It just feels whole. But yeah, it's been amazing. I love having a girl and a boy and getting to do both. I feel really lucky that I get to and experience dirt and mud and.
00:27:26
Speaker
jumping off of shit with Graydon and then Margot being gentle and sweet and silly and it's just like so cool. I love it. Yeah. Oh, see you're just even this conversation is solidifying that I have to have a third.
00:27:43
Speaker
Not to make it about me, but um as i as I'm talking about balance and you're going to be like teetered if you have three. Even though you will, you'll have three. I think we will. We'll see. I still am working on Vinny. It's funny. like I look at my friends now because we all had babies together. like um around the same time. I'm thinking of like my friend Alyssa, Lauren and I, my friend Alyssa's at the beach and it's her and her two kids and her husband. And I was like, they're missing their third. I just know they'll have a third. I picture them as a family of five as like, I see you as a five. Like, yeah I just know I can feel it. Yeah.
00:28:26
Speaker
Yeah. We'll see. Not anytime soon, but maybe in the near future. Yeah. Okay. What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is about to have their second?
00:28:40
Speaker
Oh, I feel like we prepared Graydon as much as possible. like Do you remember being so nervous and so sentimental? I cried every day. I know. it's like You feel like it's this big like change, but it was like for for us, it was the best change that you can imagine. I mean, you're just adding another one of you to the group. and like buying Graydon a gift from Margo, he loved that. um Trying to include him as much as possible so like he wouldn't be super jealous, which is still gonna happen. like They go through a phase where it's like, wow, all the attention's not on me all of a sudden, but like including them as much as possible, being like, do you wanna feed the baby? Do you wanna do this with us? like and And still making them know that,
00:29:36
Speaker
They're just as important, even though you're being pulled in 10 different frickin directions and you're exhausted. Yeah, it's it's pretty hard those first few months and then like I say like six months on because they have a 23 month age gap I was like.
00:29:53
Speaker
the first six months were like learning and then from then on it's like wow that was so worth it i get why people do the two under two thing um yeah because you kind of knock everything out at once and then totally they're friend and then they're close or at least they are right now so yeah no they will be for sure Yeah, I think Graydon will always like keep her under his wing. So yeah, he just seems like he will. My older brother and I are two years apart and my mom sent us to like I don't know if it was daycare. I think we went to like an at home daycare, but we sent us to school at the same time. and And she always said that like and the teachers would tell her that like Ryan always protected me and like looked out for me. Yeah, which is so sweet and such a brother thing.
00:30:41
Speaker
Yeah, totally. OK, what was the most challenging moment in this first year and how did you overcome it? I mean, I think I know the answer to this. Oh, I almost went Shannon. Oh, yeah yeah. Yeah, that Shannon and then sleep training.
00:31:02
Speaker
Yeah, and all of that was kind of happening at the same time. I know for everyone to know like I just feel like I've never experienced like my world being rocked that hard yeah all at once. It felt like a lot and I didn't really know how to deal with my emotions. um It was just like one of the toughest moments I think I've ever experienced. So but really.
00:31:32
Speaker
she like She got me through it, um even through sleep deprivation being tough and like me wanting to commit myself to an insane asylum. um But silver lining was like we got to the other side and I've enjoyed most most of the year. yeah, for sure. But yeah, no, she's ah our babies are definitely like our light in all of this that has happened this past year. I was just telling this to Hannah, Shannon's sister, like if I.
00:32:12
Speaker
didn't have my babies. like There would be days I would just rot away in my bed yeah and ah they have kept me going. I mean, there was days I would lay on the couch and she was so little and you're nap trapped and I would just sob and she was like on my stomach. like but Vibrating. by Vibrating. but it was like i just like held her so tight and I was like, oh my God, I don't know what I would do. I know, it's awful. Yeah.
00:32:48
Speaker
Okay, if you could relive one day from Margot's first year, which day would you go back and relive?
00:32:57
Speaker
Is it the day you had a panic attack? and Yeah. That was so fun. The day that I literally was like, I need to call the doctor. um I'm trying to think. like ah like Was it her like going to Rhode Island? was I know that's right. Was it the pool day in Tampa?
00:33:19
Speaker
um I know I think going to like just metonic in Rhode Island was very special to me. um Just because it's like one of my favorite places in the world. um And just taking both of them there grains been before but I don't know just having them getting to grow up visiting there um and knowing that it was special to their parents means a lot to both of us. So totally. probably It's like it probably feels really special because it's like the start of a tradition. You're like, okay, this is our little family.
00:33:55
Speaker
And this is our it's complete. And this is what we're going to do every summer or whatever. Like we're going to come to Rhode Island and visit mom and dad's friends and do the little New England things. And it's like, yes, we'll have the beach trip in Florida. Like, yes, we'll do Disney or go somewhere else. You know, but it's like I want that to be something they talk about as they get older. Oh, I went to Rhode Island every summer. Whatever. Yeah. Just yeah. Starting that tradition. Yeah.
00:34:25
Speaker
Amazing. Well, this is kind of, you just answered one of the questions about the future, but we'll yeah. yeah Um, okay. Last question about this part is what are you most looking forward to in Margo second tier?
00:34:40
Speaker
Oh, obviously her starting to talk. My favorite, favorite thing ever is when they get a voice and they start talking to you. It is like the funniest, funnest time I think um of the baby.
00:34:55
Speaker
And she's really starting to a little bit. Like I asked her the other day, I was like, Margo, can you say hi? And she's like, hi. And I was like, Oh, I'm shocked. Cause we don't, I've never asked her that before. And she said it. So it's like, okay, she's understanding. And I, I literally remember.
00:35:10
Speaker
Graydon was like 14 months around Christmas time, like um the second true second Christmas. So I'm thinking, oh my gosh, Margo will be a little older. And Graydon had already learned how to say my sister's name, like he said, Ashley. So I was like, oh my God, she's about to start like doing that. Yeah.
00:35:30
Speaker
and being able to like walk at Christmas and talk a little and it's gonna be so fun. I can't wait. I'm hoping she's walking by Halloween. She's kind of doing it. I think she will. But I'm like, oh, that's so cute. I can't wait.
00:35:49
Speaker
So I feel like this, the first, one of the reasons the first birthday is so exciting. It's like, I feel like I felt this way with Alice is like, it's like, Oh, the, the best is yet to come. Like, yeah I don't get me wrong. Like I love.
00:36:05
Speaker
I do like the newborn in the baby phase, but there's so much exciting stuff ahead once they turn one that you're all relieved. Yeah. If anything, I was like, I mean, you look back at old pictures and I just feel this like wave of relief in a way like like and when I was thinking of Christmas, I thought.
00:36:28
Speaker
Oh my God, I won't have to like wake up in the middle of the night. We can actually enjoy it. She's going to open gifts. Like it just feels better. I don't know. It's just more fun. No, it totally does. More fun now. Yeah. Okay. These next couple of questions, which one of them you already answered, but are about the future. Okay. Um, what is one activity or experience you can't wait to have with Margo as she gets older? Disney.
00:36:58
Speaker
I can't wait. A girl after my own heart. I love the princesses. I wouldn't say like I'm a huge like Disney person, but like do I watch all the shows and know everything? Yes. Do I love Disney World and Epcot? Hell yeah. I can't wait. That's a staple in a family's life. like I cannot wait to do that with both of them, um and I hope to go with y'all because that would be so fun. but I think that's the dream. Yeah, I think ah Disney within like the next three to four years is like something I personally am looking forward to doing as a fan. I know that when we get a little bit older to where the girls I mean, I don't know, this might change if we have a third, but like when the girls are three and older, like I could see us being pass holders like we're only an hour away. Well, remember, you almost got one and you're like, I feel like I should do it. And I was like, I don't think so.
00:37:58
Speaker
Okay. Did I already have Alice at that point? you Or was it before? You had Alice, but Evie was going to be born and you're like, should I do it? Rob has a good deal. And Shannon and I were like, I don't think so. Thank God. I didn't. You wouldn't have gone all year. I wouldn't have gone. Yeah. Especially towards the end of my pregnancy. Like, hey, I don't know. No.
00:38:22
Speaker
Okay. Yay. I love that. We will definitely be going to Disney. We will vlog the whole experience. Yay. Okay. I already asked this. I, one of the questions I had on here was what's one tradition you're excited to start or continue with Margo as she grows up. And you kind of talked about it about going to Rhode Island, which I think is such a fun, fun experience. I will be tagging you along on one of those trips. I'm just letting you know. Um,
00:38:49
Speaker
um I think another thing I want to do is, like, Opryland at Christmas. Yeah. Which is so beautiful. Like, I think that that would be fun to, like, spend the night there and make that, like, a cool thing to do. Like, I see other friends doing that. And I was like, that seems so cute and fun. Totally. Because Opryland's awesome at Christmas.
00:39:12
Speaker
So just that Halloween making that a big deal per usual. um I feel like I've been bitten by the Halloween bug a little bit already, which that does not happen for me, really. But I kept I've been served Halloween pajamas content.
00:39:30
Speaker
pajamas, yeah but I'm talking about like decor. And also I think part of this is that, sorry, I'm like getting off topic here, but part of it is that my front door, like my little thing, we just got rid of the shit that's been sitting out there forever. yeah And it's, it needs a revamp. yeah And I feel like the fall is the best time to do that. And I just,
00:39:55
Speaker
Yeah, like what I fell down like a front porch rabbit hole of fall Halloween stuff. And I was like, maybe I'm just going to do it. Like maybe I'm just going to like go all in. Like I might hang those Harry Potter candles from the top overhang. Like I might.
00:40:11
Speaker
I thought about it. And you're having the Jell-O shots at your house like you kind of have. I have to. ah Yeah, you're sorry. Those candlesticks look pretty freaking cool. like like And I love that our little overhang, it isn't huge. like It wouldn't be a lot to do because we just have that like little yeah overhang. Such a good idea. I think it would be cute.
00:40:29
Speaker
Oh, I love that. And I will say now that we're not having Graydon's birthday party here, we're like going to a place instead. I feel like I can decorate early because before I wanted my house to still look normal and not Halloween-esque for his birthday parties. And so I'm like, I can finally like decorate for fall in September. I can't wait. Yeah.
00:40:53
Speaker
No, I will. I think I talked about this in our fall episode last year. I always wait till after like it definitely is after Labor Day, which is coming up this weekend. So I think next week I might just dive in. I think so, too. I think I'm going to go for it. Amazing. OK, last question for real. Last question. um If you could give Margo one piece of wisdom or advice for her future, what would it be? Hmm.
00:41:25
Speaker
I don't know, maybe just like, I feel like being a girl is hard. And I feel like I can help instill some of this, like not being so hard on yourself um and your body, which I know like preach what you sow.
00:41:42
Speaker
But yeah I think something like that I've learned from you with already having girls and stuff is like sometimes not making like beautiful the standard and and making like kind the standard and sweet and like just being a good person. um So hoping to like kind of instill those morals in her already and just knowing like Yeah, people may call you beautiful and gorgeous, at which she is, and all those things. Yeah, she totally is. But it's not the most valuable thing. yeah Yeah. I want her to be kind. And so I'm trying to use those words. Smart and funny. Yes. and yeah And trying to use those words more often, even with Graydon. So I don't know. Just hoping that that sets like the standard in this house. and um
00:42:33
Speaker
I don't know I think like even the generation below us does a really good job at like not body shaming as much and I'm just yeah yeah oh for sure it's definitely a more accepting world when it comes to like but I mean it's not perfect by any means but it is more accepting and it makes me happy for yeah our daughters. I feel like if anything, like the hardest part is like controlling our moms and the women in the family above us from like saying those things and talking about their bodies. And being really mindful of us as moms, like how we talk about ourselves. So ah believe me, it's a work in progress all the time. And just never commenting on her body, kind of like how you said your mom was. and
00:43:19
Speaker
um Just letting her feel confident in herself. um Yeah. Well, this has been so sweet and fun. I agree. Thanks for asking. We'll do one for Graydon too. I know that's like soonish. Literally in their back. I have got to send out his birthday invitation. It isn't a month.
00:43:41
Speaker
haven't said I mean their birthdays are so back to back. I'm like frick with Evie's being February 12th and hers being March 26th. They're like a month and a half apart. Like by the time I'm done getting Evie's done, it's like, oh, I have to get the invites out for Alice's. That's how I am. I'm like, oops. I mean, the shit's booked. Hope everyone comes because I haven't sent it out, but it'll be fine. Yeah, it's fine.
00:44:02
Speaker
It'll be fine. You're fine. You're good. ah Well, share on our Instagram when this goes live the pictures of Margot's birthday. yeah And if even like if you got any amazing like gifts, like maybe like the vanity link and stuff like that, like share some michelle great things that you got. Yes, I will do that. Well, happy birthday, Margot. And congratulations, Whitney, for getting through the first year. We did it. That's the hardest part. We did it.
00:44:31
Speaker
