Speaker: There's no right way to do it.
Speaker: Oh, we're going to get into it. What up, moms? My name is Candice, and I'm here with my best friend, Whitney. And this is the Mom Group Chat Podcast. Hello, ladies. And maybe man?
Speaker: I don't know. Maybe man. There's a couple of mans. It's my husband. Mine only does. Mine only listens if he here, if he like got caught wind that we were discussing him. Oh, listen, there are some snitches that listen to the show that like will text my husband and be like, Candace said bla blah, blah, blah, blah. And then he'll listen and he'll be like, God, snitches. Yeah. funny though. Snitches get stitches around here. Okay. if you're listening to this, mind your business. if literally If you're listening to this and you know my husband, mind your business.
Speaker: It's literally public and he could listen at any time. I know. Vincent, if you're listening to this, I love you so much. I'm dying. That's so funny. um We are deep into like holiday spirit. i'm I'm feeling very holiday-ish. I'm even like shopping for Christmas early, which, you know, I jump around on the holidays a little bit. But there's like so many sales going on. I was like, you know what? Screw it. Because the second it's November 1st, we're turning on the Jingle Jangle.
Speaker: Yeah. Well, today is prime day. So the sales are out o a boat and target targets having a sale. I just created a bunch of stories for a client of mine for a J crew sale that actually looked really cute. Honestly, I was like, damn, I kind of want some of this. Um, but i ah here's, here's where I'm at my house. Um,
Speaker: is a cloud of stuff that like, I just literally yesterday was telling Vinny. I was like, we have to purge. I don't know what the fuck happened, but like we, it's just shit everywhere. So as much as I want to shop prime day and like shop for the holidays and shop toys, like a single thing cannot come in this house until I get rid of some stuff. Like it just cannot happen. Yeah.
Speaker: It always overwhelms you. You're always like, but but X, no. Yeah. I'm not into it. Our house is small. And I feel like the more and more i like the longer and longer I live here, the more I'm like, fuck, this house is small. This house is smaller than our old house.
Speaker: Not by much, but like, you know, we did what we had to do after the flood. Like it just is what it is. I've said that a thousand times on this podcast, but our house is like on the smaller side and it's fine for right now. But like we are not a house that can like have extra stuff in it. Like we're just not. Um, and so i have to stay on top of my purge game and i haven't had time to stay on top of my purge game. So the purge is coming. You will be warned. Yeah. Just kidding. If you're my children, you will not be warned. I literally purge all the time. It's like no matter what you move into your new house and you're like, oh my God, there's so much room for activities. And the longer you live there, you're like, you know what?
Speaker: I could use some extra square footage. It just like doesn't matter. You outgrow it like quickly. i i don't know. It's just like, it's a feeling I've had everywhere I've been. I'm like, okay. And it's because your kids do collect so much crap.
Speaker: Toys. yeah but ah It's also, I was going to say, we are, okay, couple of things here. We are in When I say we, I mean, Alice and Evie are in their collector era. They just have bags of bullshit, bags of trinkets, bags of tiny plastic things, tiny like bags of stickers. And it's just they come home with a bag of shit every day, it seems. And I have i really try to be relentless about getting rid of the bags of shit. But it's just like no matter where I look, there's another pile happening.
Speaker: So there's that. And then back to what you said about like always needing square footage or like I was talking about this with Hannah last night. She was like, if we had bigger houses, we would just fill it with more shit. Like it's telling you. Yeah. Like it does kind of keep you in check to like have a smaller house and you're like, you just can't fill it. And if, and I know that if I had a bigger house, it's not that I would have this amount of shit and better manage it in a bigger house. It's that I would gain more shit.
Speaker: You do. Every time. Every single time. We always talk about that. I'm like, man, if only I could add on to this. And I'm like, relax. We're fine. We're a family of four. We make it work. But it's the second like someone spends the night here or steps in the house, I'm like, I'm overwhelmed. Like five people's too many for me.
Speaker: Yeah. It's a lot. It's a lot. I'm not going to lie. i will say, though, i I did look a little bit on Amazon Prime because, oh my God, timing is everything. we got the Amazon, like, toy book and the kids were, like, looking through it. And I was like, pick out what you want because that's so fun as a child. And so i was just, like, perusing to see if anything they liked was on sale. And it is. I'm so like, well, shit.
Speaker: might as well get it on sale. So I am a victim. ah I haven't looked at anything really yet. And I just don't know that I'm in the right. My brain is firing on like half a cylinder today. So like, I just don't know that I can think to December right now and like, like make clear decisions. It's just not, I don't know that it's in the cards for me. Girl, you got your fat coffee.
Speaker: This is my third. And honestly, i feel no different. It's still ah pass out right now. Maybe it's a nap time of day. It is. I have one call, one more call today at 12.
Speaker: And after that, I will be taking a snooze. Yeah. um It's also like the rainiest, really the rainiest week here in Tampa, Florida. We are supposed to get a month's worth of rain in a week. Oh, isn't yeah is there a hurricane?
Speaker: hercane there is a parent a developing tropical depression like by louisiana it's like between like texas and but it was moseying your way yeah it's we're gonna get a lot of rain pretty much um so it's just like the rainiest week it's honestly the perfect day for a nap truly So that's in my future.
Speaker: But today's episode is like one that has come out of ah organic circumstances. And, you know, some episodes on the show, we like plan really ahead and we're like, we're going to talk about this topic and blah, blah, blah. And then there are times like today where we are just talking about something in our true group chat and we are going to bring it to this group chat. And that's what today is. And that's, it's going to start with a full bitch about my sleep and my kids' sleep. It is arguably my very favorite topic for like my, my favorite complainy topic. Yeah.
Speaker: Favorite thing to bitch about. Yeah. Like 100%. Yeah. one, number one bitching complaint. Okay. So, so tell it. It's sleep. Okay. Y'all know that if you've been listening, you know that I am a wimp, a coward when it comes to not getting sleep.
Speaker: I like to go to bed early. i wake up early. If I'm interrupted, I'm doom and gloom. I am having full on pity party. There's a lot of things that I can pick myself back up and I'll be good.
Speaker: That's not one of them. I'm going to complain and everyone's going to hear about it. Yep. Well, today's the day for you to hear about it from me because I'm coming off a rough episode.
Speaker: Night's sleep. And I wish I had a like a reason for you. i have nothing. They're not to my knowledge. there ever like much of a reason? Like when they're babies, it's regressions. And you're like, why? Because they're learning a new trick, like rolling over.
Speaker: Oh my God. I have PTSD. You swear. i swear. i can't. yeah You're right. There is a lot of time with sleep struggles that it really is no reason.
Speaker: and that is the most frustrating part or like the most frustrating circumstance because you're like, I i wish I could assign like a a purpose to this. Like, okay. Yeah.
Speaker: they had an ear infection or they were sick or they're vomiting, whatever. But on the nights like last night for me, when I have no fucking idea why my kids were up at 11, 12, two, four, and then I got woken up at five by the dog, which – at do mar Like honestly, like I should, I was ready to throw hands with it with a, for, with a furry friend.
Speaker: Okay. Because don't you dare. I just got them back down and you're going to come in here with your whining ass on the end of the bed. Drop kick to the floor is what I'm going to say about that. Body slam the pug.
Speaker: Literally. I'm so sorry, but i don't want to like sound discouraging. If anything, this is more like solidarity, but I just feel like it's always something like as long as my, my oldest has been here. It's always been something like it it was a regression or we took the Patsy away and he was relearning how to self soothe. um And like now even at five, wetting the bed where he will wake up and be like, I peed in the bed. So then he's up in the night and it's just like always something forever. it's it's always going be something forever.
Speaker: It gets better. like I... I told you, I think I said this recently where I had anxiety like for two years, like I couldn't fully sleep, I would wake up and like panic from being tortured but like it's not like that anymore. um i feel a little better but I don't know. It's okay. Can I say something though? It's almost like when it is more spread out and more sparse, it almost like feels worse and more intense. Like, do you know, do you remember back when we first started the show and I like told y'all, I was like, yeah, Alice is, Alice didn't sleep through the night until she was like 10 months. Like she woke up every night and y'all were like shocked by that. You were like, you've never talked about it. Like I, do you remember that? Yeah. And you were like, I had no idea.
Speaker: it was It was like the same time every night. I would get up and I would feed her at like 11 to 12. And then I would go to bed and then she would sleep from there. But it's just like if you can anticipate it and even in their waking up, it's almost like it's easier to manage. It's like when it's out of the blue and like when it hasn't happened in a while that you're like,
Speaker: fuck, I forgot how bad this is. i forgot how annoying and like tired I am, you know? Mine was like never consistent though. Like I feel like I would feel different knowing and just like knowing it was sort of routine. Like if I just do this one thing, she'll go back to sleep. Great. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. That's why it weighed on you so much is because it was random. Whereas like mine, I feel like didn't weigh on me that much.
Speaker: Like people would be like, I can't believe she wasn't sleeping through the night at 10 months. Like, but it's truly like I just knew at 11 p.m. somewhere between 11 and 12, I was going to go in there. I was going to give her a bottle. I was going to put her back down. It was it like became our routine. It was almost like i she had a dream feed forever is is kind of what it was. Yeah.
Speaker: Um, which she was a skinny, tiny girl. So like, maybe that makes sense. She just never like, I don't know, whatever. It's so long ago. What, what is time? I don't know. But so that's what I'm saying. Like, you're proving my point. I think it is worse and like weighs on you more when it's like never predictable.
Speaker: And yeah. And you just like, once again, we're like back to the old days where we're trying to guess like what's wrong? Like, are they teething? Are you getting a cold? Like, what happened? This this time of year always scares my kids a little bit. Like, Graydon, when he was like three, had kind of like nightmares. Like, he was scared um of all like the Halloween stuff. Now he's fine. Margot seems okay. I'm going to jinx myself. But like...
Speaker: Don't say that out loud. oh no This time this time of year is always like waves for my kids. Yeah. As much as we love Halloween, it scares them. I don't know.
Speaker: It is tough because this time of year they wait, are you saying like this time of year in the sense of like they get scared, like spooked by Halloween things? Like they're scared of the dark all of the sudden. um Like they they've seen like spooky stuff around the neighborhood or i don't know, like something's making them scared.
Speaker: And it's always Halloween. Yeah. Well, now you're now you're making me... Well, no, because they've watched that movie a ton. My girls are obsessed with Halloween Town. We watch it like every day, honestly. And we watched... We did have friends over last night. Like the Wargos came over and they...
Speaker: we started to watch it and then their girls got freaked out by it. They didn't like it. So we changed it. Maybe then they got like secondhand scared. it It happens every year, dude. Like where they're just like, I'm awake.
Speaker: I thought about the movie I watched. Now I'm awake and I'm scared. That's like Vinny keeps wanting to take the girls to there's a spirit Halloween store like literally across the street from our house that pops up every year. And Vinny's like, let's take him to spirit Halloween. I'm like, I'm, I don't know if that I want to do that because a they're going to want like 100 new costumes and like i already got like it's already it's already handled and I don't really want to do that.
Speaker: Second of all, I just know there's scary shit in there that it's going to freak them out. And then like I'm I'm the one who's going to have to do that because his ass ain't waking up at 2 a.m. for sure. um i would never take mine in there until they're older.
Speaker: Yeah. Like it's too soon. But um update for me is that we did get Margo's big girl bed and um she slept in it for the first night last night and she did so well. I will say like I got a preview of that while we were in Nantucket.
Speaker: i think I said that already, but yeah, I kind of knew that she would be OK, but I still was like so anxious myself like I just don't know how she's going to be here. And i thought I like woke up at 3 a.m. m being like, oh, my God, I have to check the monitor. Like she could be downstairs wandering around like I don't know her. i don't know what she's going to do. And she was perfectly fine, like literally didn't move. she like stayed in one spot the whole night, um woke up in the same spot. I like
Speaker: preached to her when I went to bed. I also didn't make like a big to do about it. Like Chris was going to come up there with me and I was like, uh if you start this production, it will be a production every night. We're just going act like it's a normal mother of a night. So we went up there, did our normal routine, rocked her for a second, read, put her in the bed, gave her a huge hug. And I was like, all right, Mario, I'm going to come get you in the morning. Stay in your room like you normally do. And she did. And I saw that she was awake and I went in there a little earlier than i normally do.
Speaker: But I was like, I want to like praise her for staying in here and like reward it. And so she did great. And that's amazing. I'm so happy. I'm like, maybe my anxiety will die down like after a while, but I'll probably be checking a lot in the night this week. Yeah.
Speaker: I know there are things people do, like they'll put like a little bell on the door or something so that like you can kind of hear. yeah But I don't know. I'm so glad that it went well. Like that's such a win because You know, I my transition with Alice was like miserable.
Speaker: Three weeks i of hell. Margot and Graydon couldn't be more different. Like, you know, Graydon's was he had we had to leave the crib in his room forever, like probably six months. We left it in there because he would flip flop between what he wanted.
Speaker: I don't know. We were really struggling with him. And finally he like stuck to the bed, but Margo was just like, cool. Next.
Speaker: Like you are so crazy. ah Chris and I are literally like, she is so different. It's wild. I really hope I'm not jinxing it, but right now night one, she was good.
Speaker: Okay. I love that for, for you. i love that for her. What a little queen. We truly didn't do anything different than we did with Graydon. She's just good with it.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. It also could be that they see, like she sees Graydon sleeping in a bed and she's like, oh yeah, yeah. We sleep in beds and we stay there. That's how this works. The cute thing um she said this morning, I like jumped in the bed with her and I was like, oh yeah.
Speaker: you did it. And I was like, did you love your bed? And she said, yes. And I said, did you you sleep good? And she goes, it's beautiful. Oh my God. That is so sweet. It's so cute. I recorded it on the Nanit. I was like, I want to remember that forever. She was like, it's beautiful. i'm like, oh,
Speaker: It is. oh my God. That is so cute. she That is so sweet. She's a sweetie. ah Baby Margo. I haven't seen her in so – I haven't seen your kids in so long. It's actually crazy.
Speaker: like thank God I saw yours last month or, like, last year. – Oh, by the way, i saw Maggie from who we were at the, whatever. I saw her at church last Sunday and she messaged me. I didn't talk to her there. She, we just like saw each other and she was like, Hey, were you at church on Sunday? And I was like, yes, I was. And she was like, Oh my gosh, I saw you and I want to have you back on. Like, and she sent me dates. Um, Oh, to do the panel and on the moms. Yeah. To do the panel. Yeah.
Speaker: thing and I was like that other girl that we were on the panel with because I follow her um she's on there all the time but the panel is the fun part I know with like that like spinny wheel of topics I'm like yeah that was like no pressure Yeah. So I, yeah. Cause then it's like, you're prompted with questions rather.
Speaker: Cause our and loved our segment, but it was like, we had to talk about ourselves. oh that was so fun though. Wow. That was like, it was so fun. Almost a year ago we were yeah famous.
Speaker: It was like right before Thanksgiving. Yeah. That was cool. Yeah. It was in November. Yeah. So fricking fun. Oh my God. The first time I had that steak sandwich. Yeah.
Speaker: i wasn't sure what you were going to say and then like right before you said steak sandwich I was like oh she's gonna say steak sandwich oh I want that I want that sounds so go good uh okay another like shocking update that I haven't shared I can't believe I didn't share this when we recorded our October update but I guess it's like intensified more in the past week is okay I think I've talked about on here many times. Like I am definitely the preferred parent. Like it is mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy. mommy mommy Always.
Speaker: Alice has become a daddy's girl. She wants daddy, daddy, everything like daddy is the best. Daddy is her hero. Daddy, daddy, daddy. And let me tell you,
Speaker: Vinny is slurping that up like a little kitten who's like, he's obsessed. He loves this outpouring of love that he's never really gotten before. Sorry, but it's true. He's never, he's never received this level of like obsession from any of our kids.
Speaker: I, there's a couple of things. and I might cut this part, but Vinny's in a much better headspace than he was. Like he's a completely different person than he was this summer. Like I genuinely think that that's plays a role here. He's just like better energy, more loving, like clear, like nicer. He's just like a different person. and I think that that the kids like read into that and they're like, she's like, wait, you're safe. Like, I can see that, honestly. But also, I am have kind of become like bad cop, like I'm the disciplinarian, like, I'm with them more. So and I we are at this age where there is like arguing about like,
Speaker: can and can't do and lots of negotiation and like I feel like I've become the bad cop and Vinny is home for for Mr. Fun Fun Guy yeah I'm bad cop as well Chris can yeah he lets it linger a little long which oh my god I love him but it aggravates me beyond like he will like let things slide for so long and I'm like put him in time out Aren't you tired of just saying stop?
Speaker: No, stop doing that one more time. And you're going to timeout. Like just put them in timeout. Yeah. You got to follow through on the consequence or they won't. Nip it. They won't.
Speaker: Like, okay. So another, like yesterday we've been practicing like a mofo on the bike. They both can ride their bike now, but the way, all it took was like five days of practicing and while the whining, but we got it yesterday. They were dropping their bike and running instead. Like it kind of in that the running away from me triggers me like that makes me so irrationally angry.
Speaker: And Margo was like running like far away. Like she was about to loop back to where the parking lot is. And so then I started to panic and I was like, Chris, I'm ready to go. And he's like, God, you're so rigid. Like you're so blah, blah, blah. And I was like, no, I don't like them not listening to me. Like it. Yeah.
Speaker: enrages me to a point where I'm like, you've lost your privilege to be out here if you're not going to listen to me. So that's where I was. And he's just like, la-di-da, she can run away. And then Graydon dropped his bike and now he's running. And I was like, nope, we're done.
Speaker: I'm over it. Like fun's over. You and i are the same. Like I will nip it in the bud so quickly. I'm like, great, we're done doing this. Like I can't, I won't do that. And Vinny's like,
Speaker: and exactly the same. He'll be like, it's it's fine. I'm like, it's not fine. I don't like chasing them around. Like, she was so far. She was running a triathlon. I was like, get back here. loops are like 0.25. Like, every time you loop it, she was gone. i'm like, okay, my little triathlon, like biking, running, go jump in the pond, I guess. Like, Jesus. But... Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: I don't know. I can't remember like what the topic was we were even talking about, but. Just Vinny or Alice becoming a daddy's girl. Oh, yeah. So I was going to say, do you think it like started with you going on your trip? And so he like he had to be.
Speaker: That's a really good call, honestly. Probably, yeah. Like, when I went to LA, he was, like, all hands on deck, like, dad duty. and he took them he took her to school every morning. and i Yeah, I think that's probably- And he took a birthday party I saw.
Speaker: He did. he did. um he was so good that weekend, actually. He's just, he's doing so well. Like oh good snaps for Vinny. um I could see that like being like the turning point. Because if I ever leave um and I'll go to get Margo up in the morning, she'll be like, I want daddy. And I'm like, the fuck you do?
Speaker: I'm back. And so then it like switches back kind of quickly. But she was like she always really loves like having him around. Graydon always likes Chris, but he likes me too.
Speaker: But I don't know. I'm like, Chris, you can't have both. OK, I get one. Yeah, yeah. I know that's so that amazing. Yeah, it's it's hard.
Speaker: I've always been the preferred parent to the point where like this is honestly a welcome change for me, honestly. Like it's hard to always be the one that like has to do it or they'll throw a huge fit.
Speaker: And so honestly, i will take a daddy's girl. I'll take it. I'll take what I can get. Well, good for them. I'm excited for Vinny. I know he's been wanting that.
Speaker: Oh, he has been wanting it. And like literally she came and got – she always comes and gets in bed with us like in the morning like, you know, anytime between like 5.30 and 7 depending on when she wakes up. And the – i don't I forgot exactly when it was, but she got in bed with us the other day and she was like just randomly laying there with us. And she just said, Daddy, I love you to the moon and back just out of the blue. like if And he was like, no, like literally he was like, oh, my God, i love you so much. And I'm like, what about me?
Speaker: I'm like the angry troll. He's so words of affirmation. He's like, that's all I wanted. That's all I ever wanted. we both are though. Like we both need to be told. And so if we're both feeling stuff stubborn with each other, no one gets told. So like no one's happy. It's so funny actually.
Speaker: oh my God. Y'all are funny. um That's so sweet. Margot is like on this thing where she just says like, you're my best friend. She says it constantly. I'm like, you're mine too. You're mine too. I'm like, don't ever stop saying it, please. Yeah. Oh my goodness. They also like weaponize it. I remember when Graydon started doing that too. Like he'd be like, you're not my best friend. Like that was his biggest threat ever. Oh yeah. We're still in that with friends. Like, and Alice will come home from school and she'll be like, so-and-so told me on the playground that I'm not her best friend anymore. And I'm like,
Speaker: Great. We have lots of other best friends. Like, I don't know what to say to that other than that. I remember it hurt my feelings when Graydon did it because I thought I was like so unique to that experience. And then I was like, oh, this is like the language that they all speak. yeah and I stopped caring. I'm like, cool. Great. um yeah But anyway, back on topic. So sorry.
Speaker: No, I mean, this is our life. We side tangent. I was going to say, With sleep regressions, et cetera, I always like if it happens a lot or you can't really help like the bedwetting, I don't really know what to do there. I could probably get a potty training book and like figure that out. But like as for like sleep regressions and if it's starting to happen consistently, like I just always go back to sleep training as hard as it is. um Yeah.
Speaker: No matter what age, like i always just go back to that as my foundation. I 1000% agree. And for me, it's all about consistency. Like I know I've talked about that before. It's like, even for me last night, like I let Alice in our bed at 2am and let her sleep with us. And I never do that. Like i am the girl who's walking her back to her bed quietly and like just being like, you're going back to sleep. And I, for some reason,
Speaker: fucking reason I didn't do that last night. And I feel like that's part of the reason my night was so bad. I just do not sleep well with her in my bed. I know some people feel the opposite. They're like, I sleep the best of my babies in my bed.
Speaker: Could not relate less, honestly. Like I already have a husband and two dogs in my bed. Like I cannot have another human being and I'm so hot. No, I hate it. But, um, I think it's just being consistent and like doing cons like,
Speaker: doing the same thing every night in a calm matter of fact manner is like what has always worked for us. And that goes back to sleep training. It's kind of that it's like, you're just have to be consistent. There's a little bit of like uncomfortableness there on all parties. They're going to be a little uncomfortable if they're upset, you're going to be a little bit uncomfortable listening to them upset, but ultimately they learn that they have to stay there and that it is time to sleep And it all gets it all gets.
Speaker: Yeah, I feel like I so wish and this is like not a dig like my mom and dad like sleep trained me because like I still struggle with it today like.
Speaker: I knew they would cave at some point. So I would keep it up. I was like, they're going to cave. And I just knew they would because they always did. And I'd get to sleep in there even if it was on the floor. Like I didn't care. i was relentless. Just I was such a scaredy cat. I was so crazy.
Speaker: But it's the fact that you are consistent. Keep walking them back to the bed. Keep reassuring them that they're going to be okay. Like maybe even like figuring out like what would make you feel better.
Speaker: i don't know. um But yeah, to this day, I'm just like, wow, my parents let me sleep in there forever. I think I was like in middle school. That's funny. We were never allowed to, like, I can't remember a single time I slept in my parents' room or a bed. We were allowed to sleep in the living room and we did do that sometimes. Like, I would sleep on the couch. But for the most part,
Speaker: Or always. Like I can't remember a single time we slept in my parents' bed, honestly. So. cut I was always in there. um i don't know why. I just was scared. And the only thing that helped me was them putting a TV in my room.
Speaker: And I would fall asleep to it and put a sleep timer on. And I would, that's what fixed it. Isn't that crazy? I had a TV in my room, my bedroom as well. And I personally like cannot imagine doing that to my kids now.
Speaker: Oh my God. That's like not allowed. That's not allowed. Like there will be no TVs in bedrooms. Also shit that I was watching in middle school, You guys, the way i was watching like real world Las Vegas and like watching people have threesomes in a hot tub at like age 11. I did not watch that. I was like this at the TV.
Speaker: ah She's a freak. like No, I was like mystified. i was like... but The power of sexuality. um I watched Nick at Night. Like I loved Three's Company and I Love Lucy. Oh, you're just so wholesome. I watched it every night.
Speaker: I was watching like low key, like soft core porn on MTV. I didn't, i so I, to this day, like don't love reality TV. Like I didn't even like it back then when it came out. I was like, I'm not interested. I i liked sitcoms and.
Speaker: I cannot relate. i am. I've always liked reality. I mean, I watched survivor with my family from season one in like 2000 or 1998. It was like, so my family's always watched reality TV together. So now this is who I am as a person. I recently looked it up of why, because like my due date group is watching Dancing with the Stars and they're like, Whitney, watch it with us. And I'm like, like no no, I can't. Like, I truly can't. And I looked up, I asked chat GBT, like, why am I like this? And it was saying i have, i I would have to look it up, but it was saying I have some like avoidance to secondhand embarrassment. Like, I don't like.
Speaker: I totally see that. Yeah. And like, that's why I don't like Bachelorette. I don't like reality TV. I don't like any shows with judges because of I feel so uncomfortable of someone's dreams being crushed or the first kid. have secondhand like, well, it's the same.
Speaker: i feel like that's the same reason you didn't like love to like make out with people. You just you like have embarrassment. I can hand embarrassment. Like, and that's actual embarrassment. Like, I don't know. And so it was saying, like, that's what it thinks I have and i why I don't like that stuff. could see that.
Speaker: So what was it like being friends with me? Like, who is always fucking embarrassing herself? Like, how are we best friends? And you weren't like, I got to get out of here. This girl is embarrassing the fuck out of That not. You were like.
Speaker: intriguing because I always thought you were just like um romantic. I don't know. like like I also like really love like romances. Like i always love Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge. Like I always felt like you were in that realm versus like crazy reality TV.
Speaker: I don't know. Okay. Interesting. So I didn't embarrass you. That is what you're saying. You've never embarrassed me. hu Okay. but when you fell on the i myself no Even when you fell on the streets in Nashville, i was like, that's my girl.
Speaker: I always think of, I don't know that I've ever told this story on the pod, but I'm going to now and I'm going to really embarrass myself. And like, I definitely, I have a long list of embarrassing moments and there are moments of my life that I wish so badly I could like revisit as a external being and just watch it happen. And this is, this is one of those moments. So I went out to a bottomless brunch with Mark and Mackenzie in New York city And there was this brunch place called Agave and it is bottomless margaritas. That is okay. First of all, I am like 24, 25 when this happened, or maybe even 23. don't know. It was right when I moved to New York city.
Speaker: So yeah, I actually had to have been 23 because there. i move there Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So young in, I was a young in, I definitely was like living it up. I had gone out the night before, stayed out till like 3am, got up, was at brunch at 11am, keep like drinking margarita. So I say all of this as context, because I think there was still like alcohol in my system from the night before yeah to where like, I don't even think I really drank that much at brunch. It was just like, it was like compounded. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: So anyways, I, first of all, was at the time in what I thought was the cutest outfit of all time. I kind of looked like Gossip Girl. I had like a pleated skirt on and like this like button down and a statement. It was very 2013 statement necklace, but like booties. I was like very like Gossip Girl New York City. Okay. We go to this brunch. I go, I get absolutely hammered. We are...
Speaker: walking through a park. And again, this is all rigor. This is all just what people have told me. I do not remember this at all, like full blackout. Okay. And I, I don't know why I was even close to the ground. I don't know, but I do know that I fell over in the park and had my legs in the air. I'm in a skirt in a thong.
Speaker: And Mark and Mackenzie said, literally in the middle of Washington Square Park, I have my legs in the air, my ass and vagina are out.
Speaker: Okay. And a a woman sitting on a bench like that was witnessing all of this apparently yelled, you can't do that.
Speaker: See, and I like this. I like this part of you. And then they got me up and put me in a cab by myself, and which I do not remember. i got home. I did put myself to bed, woke up, puked all over my room.
Speaker: my peaky friend. And ah yeah, that's like one of my most embarrassing moments. But ah why didn why am I telling this story? ah I'm blanking now. I don't know, but I'm so glad you did. I don't know if I've ever heard it So Mark and Mackenzie will still randomly say, if I'm doing, so if anyone is doing anything remotely embarrassing, they'll go, you can't do that.
Speaker: Oh my God. That sounds fun. i i love to go into New York with you guys. Like, oh, such a good memory. I know one of my really close friends here, Jack, he's Joanna's little sister, like Zach and Joanna's. his sorry, his brother, little brother, not brother, not sister. But anyways, he's 25 and he's moving to New York city literally on Wednesday. and so I had coffee with him last week just as like a goodbye. And he's single. And like, I told him, I was like, he's a gay man just for reference. And I was like, I'm coming to visit you. And I want to like live like a 25 year old for just like one night, like take me with you. Let's go to a gay club. Yeah. I haven't been to New York in so long. It's this time year. I always want to go. The fall is the best time to go. it really is.
Speaker: i like winter every time I want to go in February. Oh my God. That is not when I want to go. want between a like true best time is like November, December.
Speaker: I love like thinking of trudging through the snow and like dipping into a dark small bar and unwrapping all your layers. And I'm like in a sexy outfit under my coat.
Speaker: Oh, damn. Maybe like light jazz on the piano. I don't know. Wow. This sounds like a fantasy you have going. Maybe you and Chris should take a little trip.
Speaker: o We used to do that in Boston. It was it's just so fun. i don't know. I love the snow. I love it. Yeah. Alice has been asking to see snow like so often recently. And I'm like, we're going to have to do a winter like Tahoe trip soon, I think. Well, it's so fun.
Speaker: it is fun. but i i don't know that I am a winter girl I know we Chris had to do his like um vacations for next year he has to do them so early he like took a random week off in February and I'm like are we going skiing that sounds good that sounds fun yeah ah All right. Well, I mean, I'm going to try to revive. Honestly, this podcast is reviving me. It always does. Always.
Speaker: puts me in the best mood ever. i love us. and i love us. and I'm going pull myself together for the rest of the day i have so much work to do. I didn't work much yesterday because I had the girls. So...
Speaker: Let's get into it. Get into it. I know. Well, we hope everyone has great week. Anything else to report? I don't know. I mean, just, I'm glad that like we're kind of refreshing on this in the anticipation that something may come from Margo being in her bed. need to look up like what there is to do if she starts getting out in the night or like really early in the morning. So I will keep y'all updated. But I always feel like sleep regression is always like good to have top of mind because...
Speaker: God, it is still happening. I know, it's crazy. I will say you were mentioning bedwetting earlier. And like, I think you're the one who told me this, but one of the biggest hacks is I always have a waterproof liner underneath Alice's sheet and I have two of them. So I have one that's on at all times and then her sheets on top. And then in the bottom drawer of her dresser, I have another waterproof liner and a new sheet that way in the middle of the night. It's like such an easy change. Like, I'm like, okay, we're ripping this off. And I just put them in the laundry room. And then I put the new waterproof on and the new sheet. And it's like in five minutes, she's back in bed and back asleep. So that is a hack. Um,
Speaker: She's only wet the bed like two or three times, so it doesn't happen super often. but the All the time still. um and And Margot has never. She's been without her pull-up since June. Oh, damn. She's already sleeping without a pull-up? She's never peed in the bed.
Speaker: Isn't that psycho? That's what I'm saying. They are opposite. I feel like Alice didn't start sleeping without a pull-up until she was like... I don't know, Candace. wow She's I guess she'd be different. I don't know. She don't pee in the bed. Great. Also, ah we haven't done like a I should have talked about this in the in fact October update. Potty training with Evie is going horribly. i i honestly have kind of given up. She still to this moment has never once peed in the potty or pooped here. Never. what She won't do it. She will not do it.
Speaker: And I put her in undies. We've done whole weekends in undies. She pees in her undies every time. And I'm at a loss. school going to start doing it? Apparently, she goes at school, and she's totally fine.
Speaker: So I don't know what the holdup is with home. I don't know. But honestly, I just haven't had the mental capacity to figure it out. So I'm just kind of like, whatever.
Speaker: Thank God school did it. But like once it clicked for Margo, she was like, hey, I'm going to hold it through the night too. And i was like okay. Wow. What a queen. don't know.
Speaker: i I don't know. I think God was like, you needed you needed this. You went through You went through it on that first one. Yeah. Damn. That's amazing. Yeah.
Speaker: All right. Well, I'm going to go take a nap. Enjoy. Enjoy. I will. I really will. Everyone sleep well. Love you so much. Love you. Thank you so much for being a part of our mom group chat.
