Introduction to the Podcast

00:00:05
Speaker
Hey, hey, everyone.
00:00:06
Speaker
It's Amon Grish.
00:00:06
Speaker
You're listening to the Expat Brat Podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker
And we are in Feb 2023.
00:00:12
Speaker
Things are flying off, right?
00:00:17
Speaker
I'm wondering how long before we go, I can't believe it's...
00:00:22
Speaker
xyz month and i can't believe how much time has passed by and i had so many plans for the year and it's just it's all gone and what do i do that's um that's my inner voice uh usually for me it usually occurs around the time of uh end of jan and of jan
00:00:45
Speaker
So my voice is already activated.
00:00:47
Speaker
Um, I think most people get around April, May, and then, uh, again in, it's like a recurring thing, right?
00:00:55
Speaker
Then September, October, and then December, you obviously, everyone has to go, I can't believe the year's over.
00:01:01
Speaker
Um,
00:01:02
Speaker
It is speeding by, man, though, and I wish I had the

Reflections on Time and Basketball Legends

00:01:06
Speaker
power.
00:01:06
Speaker
Like Shaquille O'Neal, if you watched his documentary, or he said it in a few other places, he goes, my superpowers, I can freeze time.
00:01:15
Speaker
That sounds nothing like how he talks, but I just had to do a different voice for him.
00:01:20
Speaker
Just so you know, that's Shaq.
00:01:22
Speaker
And and he his explanation of that was that I can pause.
00:01:28
Speaker
I can pause time and then I know what to do.
00:01:31
Speaker
I can take that moment to see if what's going on is correct or not.
00:01:36
Speaker
Sure.
00:01:37
Speaker
It's called pausing.
00:01:38
Speaker
It's you don't have to put it like that.
00:01:41
Speaker
He's I love him.
00:01:42
Speaker
He's hilarious.
00:01:43
Speaker
But speaking of legends, it's LeBron James, people.
00:01:47
Speaker
He's the highest scorer ever.
00:01:50
Speaker
Or no, the person with the most points in NBA history.
00:01:54
Speaker
Even if you don't watch basketball, you might know his name.
00:01:58
Speaker
He's the biggest star currently in the NBA.
00:02:01
Speaker
He's on a losing team, which makes me laugh.
00:02:05
Speaker
It's kind of sad that even on the day in the game that he breaks the record for most points scored ever, it was to a losing cause on a team that might not make the playoffs.
00:02:19
Speaker
Kind of tarnishes the whole thing.
00:02:23
Speaker
But then, yeah, you know, you got to acknowledge it's the guy's the guy's a beast.
00:02:29
Speaker
To do it for 20 years, I mean, I couldn't survive a corporate job for longer than two, three years at a time.
00:02:36
Speaker
I don't think I've ever managed to go longer than that.
00:02:39
Speaker
And there were various circumstances, but hey, who doesn't face life, right?
00:02:46
Speaker
And the guy stuck through and...
00:02:49
Speaker
he's just incredible.
00:02:50
Speaker
It's also the fact that he wasn't really known as a scorer per se.
00:02:55
Speaker
So for him to accumulate that many points or this long going on and on and on and still being motivated, I think he wants to play another couple of years.
00:03:02
Speaker
He wants to play with his kid before he retires.
00:03:07
Speaker
So yeah, that's crazy, man.
00:03:09
Speaker
You got to give it to him.
00:03:10
Speaker
But is he better than Mike?
00:03:11
Speaker
I don't think so.
00:03:12
Speaker
Oh,
00:03:14
Speaker
Yeah, I'm a Michael Jordan fan.
00:03:17
Speaker
But I'm able to respect LeBron without having to diss him.
00:03:21
Speaker
I can love Michael without having to diss him.
00:03:24
Speaker
Well, maybe a little bit.
00:03:25
Speaker
That's why I talked about him losing so much.
00:03:27
Speaker
But then so did Jordan, man, as much as I hate to admit it.
00:03:31
Speaker
The last couple of years on the Wizards, it's just, you know, it's just such a, ugh, in our heads, right?
00:03:38
Speaker
It's just like, why?
00:03:39
Speaker
Why'd you have to do that, man?
00:03:41
Speaker
Even though he wasn't bad in them, and obviously his knee was injured and whatnot.
00:03:46
Speaker
It was just one of those things.
00:03:48
Speaker
It's also the team he played for, the Wizards.
00:03:50
Speaker
I think that's the worst bit.
00:03:53
Speaker
I missed, you know, the Washington team in the NBA at that time in the 90s was called Bullets.
00:03:58
Speaker
And they changed it because, you know, it was just bad, whatever, right?
00:04:03
Speaker
Just more nonviolent, especially because Washington was facing a lot of violence around that time.
00:04:09
Speaker
But they went with Wizards.
00:04:10
Speaker
It's like you went from a gritty name to like the most kiddish kiddish kiddish.
00:04:18
Speaker
You should be kiddish.
00:04:18
Speaker
The most kiddish name.
00:04:21
Speaker
Or is it kiddish?
00:04:22
Speaker
I don't know.
00:04:23
Speaker
The most childish name they could think of.
00:04:25
Speaker
You know, that's crazy.
00:04:27
Speaker
But this is wrong of me.
00:04:29
Speaker
As a Michael Jordan fan, I shouldn't be bringing his name up in this conversation right now when we're celebrating.
00:04:34
Speaker
A guy doing some crazy stuff, man.
00:04:37
Speaker
LeBron, well done.
00:04:39
Speaker
From my point of view, you're probably the greatest basketball player ever.
00:04:45
Speaker
And it pains me to say it.
00:04:47
Speaker
Just looking at everything altogether.
00:04:50
Speaker
But are you the most loved?
00:04:52
Speaker
Probably not.
00:04:55
Speaker
No, the new generation loves him, right?
00:04:57
Speaker
All the kids will be more LeBron.
00:04:59
Speaker
That's why they did that horrific Space Jam movie with him in it.
00:05:04
Speaker
And that was just what a terrible idea that was.
00:05:08
Speaker
Why am I dissing on him?
00:05:09
Speaker
I'm really trying.
00:05:11
Speaker
to like him, you know, I stopped watching basketball for a while.
00:05:15
Speaker
And then I can't come back.
00:05:16
Speaker
And I'm like, I should I should celebrate athletes.
00:05:20
Speaker
And then like an old man, I just can't help saying the guy from my generation was just so much better.
00:05:29
Speaker
And I can't help... You know, it's just... Just a few games ago, LeBron threw this fit at the end of this game because he didn't like the call that was made.
00:05:39
Speaker
They missed a call on him and they lost the game and he threw this fit.
00:05:43
Speaker
And it's that.
00:05:44
Speaker
That's how I see and remember him.
00:05:48
Speaker
That's my problem, right?
00:05:49
Speaker
I've seen enough of his clips with his whiny face that make me go...
00:05:55
Speaker
I can't stand him.
00:05:57
Speaker
I can't.
00:05:57
Speaker
I try.
00:05:58
Speaker
I try celebrating his stuff, man.
00:06:00
Speaker
I know he's done so well.
00:06:01
Speaker
He's won four championships.
00:06:03
Speaker
He's done all these all-star appearances, blah, blah, blah.
00:06:07
Speaker
But that's the image that stays in my mind.
00:06:10
Speaker
And I'm still sitting here going, well done, dude.
00:06:15
Speaker
So I think I'm a really good person for doing that.
00:06:19
Speaker
Maybe I should just stop talking about him.
00:06:21
Speaker
If you're not a basketball fan, you should still

Global Disasters and Media Attention

00:06:25
Speaker
kind of... I hope I'm not boring you because I know a lot of people listen to the podcast for other stuff.
00:06:31
Speaker
But this is a big day for basketball.
00:06:34
Speaker
And if you're not a fan, at least you'll realize I am so conflicted in my life about things I shouldn't be.
00:06:44
Speaker
That I'm a fair person.
00:06:47
Speaker
That I'm really trying hard to be objective here.
00:06:50
Speaker
And I'm failing.
00:06:52
Speaker
And so you can take that away about me.
00:06:53
Speaker
But it's the trying, right?
00:06:57
Speaker
I might try for another 20 years too.
00:06:59
Speaker
And yeah.
00:07:01
Speaker
So anyway.
00:07:03
Speaker
Anyway, there are better things to talk about.
00:07:05
Speaker
There's so much more awful stuff happening, man.
00:07:08
Speaker
Like this earthquake.
00:07:11
Speaker
I don't even want to talk about it because I just...
00:07:14
Speaker
It's a little bizarre, right?
00:07:15
Speaker
As a person in the Middle East, my heart goes out to everyone in Turkey and Syria.
00:07:22
Speaker
But it's also really crap to see how little is being said about Syria versus Turkey in terms of how many people are coming forward to help them.
00:07:31
Speaker
and that's kind of sad and i you know in these times of disasters and whatnot i just hope it's it we just provide help wherever and whenever it's needed you know um my own home country i guess of some sort of pakistan
00:07:49
Speaker
had floods a while ago, not too long ago.
00:07:52
Speaker
And, you know, it's just no one talks about that stuff anymore.
00:07:56
Speaker
People move on to the next disaster and everything else.
00:08:00
Speaker
And there must be so many people who are trying to fix their lives up, get themselves back on their feet.
00:08:07
Speaker
The ones who survived.
00:08:09
Speaker
And we stopped talking about it because the next things happen.
00:08:12
Speaker
The next things happen.
00:08:13
Speaker
This whole news thing just gets you over and over, man.
00:08:17
Speaker
Anywho, I keep telling myself when I start these episodes that I'll talk about good

Wealth Disparities and Real Estate

00:08:25
Speaker
stuff.
00:08:25
Speaker
But here we are.
00:08:27
Speaker
I talk about someone's achievement.
00:08:29
Speaker
I'm talking about how bad they are.
00:08:34
Speaker
But okay.
00:08:35
Speaker
You know what is cool?
00:08:38
Speaker
One of my favorite comics, actor, someone whose movies I loved in the 90s, Jim Carrey.
00:08:46
Speaker
Dude was awesome, right?
00:08:47
Speaker
Is awesome.
00:08:48
Speaker
Well, I don't know.
00:08:49
Speaker
Is he still awesome?
00:08:50
Speaker
Because he doesn't really do much anymore except paint, which I find weird.
00:08:55
Speaker
But apparently they're great.
00:08:56
Speaker
Are we just saying that because it's him?
00:08:59
Speaker
I don't know.
00:09:01
Speaker
He's a I just saw that, like, you know, he's selling one of his one of his houses because he doesn't spend enough time there anymore.
00:09:08
Speaker
And he's like, you know, I just I just want someone else to enjoy it.
00:09:13
Speaker
But it's hard to enjoy it because it's it's almost 30 million dollars.
00:09:17
Speaker
The asking price.
00:09:18
Speaker
It's twenty eight point nine to be exact.
00:09:23
Speaker
And that's a lot of money that I don't have.
00:09:28
Speaker
Otherwise, I would have bought it.
00:09:29
Speaker
L.A., you get to live in a house where Jim Carrey's partied or whatnot and come up with loads of stuff.
00:09:35
Speaker
It has apparently like a waterfall in its swimming pool.
00:09:37
Speaker
And it's probably just massive, right?
00:09:40
Speaker
Loads of history there.
00:09:40
Speaker
I'd love to own it.
00:09:42
Speaker
But $30 million.
00:09:43
Speaker
The thing that gets me about these houses and these people is that...
00:09:48
Speaker
Not in a bad way, but it's just mind boggling to think someone can own a house for $30 million.
00:09:55
Speaker
Because when I compare it to normal people on an average, in any major city, you'd be renting a place for what, like $50,000 a year?
00:10:11
Speaker
$30,000 to $50,000 a year, let's say.
00:10:13
Speaker
Any major city would roughly be in between that for one bed, maybe two beds in some places, depending on how big and expensive that city is.
00:10:22
Speaker
And that $30 million is so far off.
00:10:27
Speaker
Because what I'm trying to get at is like...
00:10:30
Speaker
In order for you to afford, let's say a $30,000 house, right, a year, you'd have to be earning 120.
00:10:39
Speaker
What is supposed to be like 30, 40% of your income for rent?
00:10:41
Speaker
You'd have to be earning $120,000, $150,000 a year.
00:10:49
Speaker
to afford a $30 million house.
00:10:52
Speaker
I'm just thinking about the amount of income you would need, right?
00:10:57
Speaker
Do they, but then it's a purchase.
00:10:58
Speaker
So I don't know, maybe the math is different, but it would mean you'd have $30 million lying around to buy a house, right?
00:11:08
Speaker
And the upkeep and whatnot.
00:11:10
Speaker
So the income level for that would be crazy, right, per year.
00:11:15
Speaker
And sometimes I sit there and I go, what if I wanted to be in that league?
00:11:21
Speaker
And I can't imagine anything I do or can provide my services that would get me there.
00:11:28
Speaker
Even if I wrote the greatest joke in the world.
00:11:31
Speaker
How would that get me to that amount of money?
00:11:36
Speaker
It would have to be turned into a book and a movie and a song and then become number one across all those platforms.
00:11:44
Speaker
And then I'd have to repeat that three, four times for it to get there, I guess.
00:11:51
Speaker
Because if I think about how much was

AI and Creative Endeavors

00:11:53
Speaker
Dave Chappelle paid for his Netflix specials, I can't remember.
00:11:56
Speaker
Was it a total of like 20 mil for like three or four specials?
00:12:00
Speaker
Something like that?
00:12:00
Speaker
Or was it a lot more?
00:12:01
Speaker
I can't remember.
00:12:02
Speaker
I can't keep up with these numbers now, nowadays.
00:12:06
Speaker
But I can't imagine how to do it.
00:12:09
Speaker
It's not one of those like my mind is thinking small.
00:12:13
Speaker
I just I just don't know what I could go up to someone and go, hey, listen, your bill for my services is this much is like 10 million dollars.
00:12:25
Speaker
Yeah, that's that.
00:12:27
Speaker
It's mind boggling, right?
00:12:29
Speaker
If I was selling something and that product became important or it was innovative or whatnot, then I get it.
00:12:37
Speaker
I'm going to go on this Chad GPT thing.
00:12:39
Speaker
Is that how you say it?
00:12:41
Speaker
And I'm just going to figure out how I can maybe write like 50 books or something through it and then see if and 50 scripts and see if any of them get turned into a movie.
00:12:52
Speaker
That's the last hope.
00:12:55
Speaker
turn to artificial intelligence because Salman's intelligence is clearly not doing enough.
00:13:02
Speaker
And this is this is one last shot at it.
00:13:06
Speaker
Let's do it before all of you do it.
00:13:08
Speaker
Why am I giving you this idea?
00:13:09
Speaker
I bet every artist out there has been thinking the same.
00:13:15
Speaker
Incredible.
00:13:16
Speaker
Yeah, incredible.
00:13:17
Speaker
I got to work on that stuff.
00:13:18
Speaker
I haven't really experimented with it, but a lot of my friends and in their businesses, in their daily lives have been kind of experimenting with it.
00:13:24
Speaker
And that's interesting to see, uh, the, the stuff coming out from them.
00:13:29
Speaker
I've seen examples produced by them along with the AI technology.
00:13:34
Speaker
And, and it really is mind boggling.
00:13:36
Speaker
It is crazy what that thing can do.
00:13:39
Speaker
And, uh, I'm just marking, you know, on my calendar, how soon before the Terminator rises from all this.
00:13:45
Speaker
And, uh,
00:13:47
Speaker
and how long I'll have to live.
00:13:49
Speaker
I think I'll survive it mainly because they'll attack America, right?
00:13:52
Speaker
Even the robots, when the whole thing Skynet went, was it just the states or was it the whole world?
00:13:59
Speaker
And if it was the whole world, you know what they should have done in the follow-up Saki movies instead of all the stuff that they did?
00:14:06
Speaker
They should have done one where Terminator went global.
00:14:09
Speaker
Can you imagine Arnold fighting alongside some Pakistani dude and some Arab dude and, yeah, just traveling the world doing it?
00:14:19
Speaker
It would be like a James Bond kind of mixture with the Terminator series.
00:14:24
Speaker
And that might have been interesting and they might have been watchable.
00:14:27
Speaker
Yeah.
00:14:29
Speaker
God, talk about a franchise just getting it so wrong.
00:14:32
Speaker
Maybe they probably would write better Terminator scripts using this AI thing.
00:14:38
Speaker
Oh, that should be it.
00:14:40
Speaker
An AI-ridden Terminator script would be the most weird thing in the world because it would probably be pretty good if used correctly and set up correctly.
00:14:52
Speaker
And then it is AI writing about robots and AI taking over the world.
00:14:59
Speaker
Holy, wow, wow.
00:15:01
Speaker
That would be like a fortune telling kind of movie script, possibly.
00:15:07
Speaker
Maybe we should do it just so we know what kind of plans AI might come up with to take over the world.
00:15:15
Speaker
Oh my God.
00:15:16
Speaker
And then we'd be ahead of it.
00:15:17
Speaker
And the best thing would be to shut down Skynet and AI.
00:15:20
Speaker
But we're not going to do it because Google's in on the race.
00:15:22
Speaker
Microsoft is on the race.
00:15:26
Speaker
Who else is in on it?
00:15:27
Speaker
Like every business is starting to use it.
00:15:29
Speaker
So at one point, we're like panicking about human beings and robots and what might happen.
00:15:36
Speaker
And on the other hand, we're also just using it because we're like, hey, I need to take advantage of it so I can make a fast buck.
00:15:43
Speaker
Human beings just don't know how to survive.
00:15:44
Speaker
Yeah.
00:15:45
Speaker
How we've made it this far is incredible.
00:15:47
Speaker
It's like we can't read the signs.
00:15:49
Speaker
There's like all these things giving us signs about, look, if you just do this, this will happen.
00:15:55
Speaker
The Earth's like, listen, I'm blowing up.
00:15:57
Speaker
I'm warming you guys up.
00:15:59
Speaker
I'm warning you with my warming up.
00:16:01
Speaker
And we're like, nah, nah, there's no global warming, right?
00:16:04
Speaker
It's just we continuously do this thing.
00:16:06
Speaker
It's incredible.
00:16:07
Speaker
Incredible.
00:16:10
Speaker
But if we were, if this was the last thing,
00:16:13
Speaker
If this was it, I know the world's about to end and stuff.
00:16:19
Speaker
What would I be doing?
00:16:21
Speaker
My answer is pretty easy.
00:16:22
Speaker
I'd want to spend time with my wife, kids, and whatever family and friends I can gather together.
00:16:29
Speaker
I'd like to eat some of the stuff.
00:16:31
Speaker
I wouldn't care.
00:16:32
Speaker
I'd look at myself.
00:16:33
Speaker
I'd be honest.
00:16:33
Speaker
I'd be like, listen, and I'd be honest with my wife and kids.
00:16:36
Speaker
Sarah's not going to love this answer.
00:16:38
Speaker
But I would turn to both of them and say, listen, we don't look like the type that would survive an apocalypse of that sort for too long.
00:16:48
Speaker
We're going to be one of those people dying fairly soon.
00:16:51
Speaker
We're not going to be one of those survivors.
00:16:53
Speaker
And in a way, it might be great because if the world's kind of ended, why try to survive in it?
00:16:58
Speaker
I don't know.
00:16:58
Speaker
There's like...
00:17:00
Speaker
I don't know.
00:17:02
Speaker
I would probably go maybe it's, let's just be honest with ourselves.
00:17:06
Speaker
Not the fittest people, not the most talented, not me.
00:17:12
Speaker
As mentioned in my previous episode, I've done some first aid training, but that's the extent of my survival skills.
00:17:19
Speaker
I once bought this book about like, it's an SAS survival kit thing.
00:17:24
Speaker
It's a fat book with loads of things about how to
00:17:28
Speaker
do survive this and that and blah.
00:17:30
Speaker
It's a really cool book.
00:17:31
Speaker
I flipped through it, but I've learned nothing from it because I really haven't sat down and gone through it properly.
00:17:36
Speaker
And I've had it for about 10 years now.
00:17:38
Speaker
I keep carrying it around thinking, and if an apocalypse happens, then I'll have this book to turn to.
00:17:44
Speaker
But I but it would be too late, right?
00:17:46
Speaker
I probably wouldn't be able to go.
00:17:49
Speaker
Hold on, earthquake.
00:17:50
Speaker
Let me just read this chapter on how to survive this and so on, so forth.
00:17:55
Speaker
I'm not going to.
00:17:56
Speaker
I'm just going to procrastinate.
00:17:57
Speaker
So I'm going to sit them down.
00:17:58
Speaker
I'm going to say, listen.
00:18:00
Speaker
We're not going to get through this for too long.
00:18:03
Speaker
What we need to do is just enjoy this moment.
00:18:06
Speaker
So I would turn to whatever food I can grab that hasn't gone bad.
00:18:12
Speaker
Party up a little bit.
00:18:14
Speaker
Spend time with, like I said, when my kid just enjoys watching him play.
00:18:18
Speaker
This is turning really sad and I'm making myself emotional about the situation.
00:18:23
Speaker
And then just go, OK, whatever is going to come and kill us, we'll do it pretty soon.
00:18:29
Speaker
But I wouldn't be in too much fear.
00:18:31
Speaker
I think I would just I would just acknowledge it and just hold on tight to them.
00:18:36
Speaker
It would be a little awkward if if my wife decides, no, she and her kid are going to really try surviving this.
00:18:43
Speaker
Because then she'd be like, no, I'm going to go out.
00:18:45
Speaker
I'm going to meet up with survivors and try to get through this.
00:18:47
Speaker
And I'll be like, no, no, no, just stay put.
00:18:49
Speaker
And then we'll be fighting.
00:18:50
Speaker
I'll be trying to keep her locked in the house.
00:18:52
Speaker
Oh, this is... Yeah, that will just become... Then I'll become the villain of this story.
00:18:58
Speaker
And I'll have to hold her back and stuff and get her killed sooner.
00:19:05
Speaker
But I think I'm right, you know?
00:19:06
Speaker
I think I'm right.
00:19:07
Speaker
I really... I look at my whole...
00:19:10
Speaker
All my siblings, all my family, I'd just meet up with them and hang out and be like, listen, we're not going to try.
00:19:18
Speaker
We had all the time in the world to prepare, get fit, get smart.
00:19:25
Speaker
But we're not practical people.
00:19:26
Speaker
We've lived in Dubai too long.
00:19:28
Speaker
We're going to be soft.
00:19:30
Speaker
We'll go as far as our car goes.
00:19:33
Speaker
can take us with the gas already filled

The World of Improv Comedy

00:19:35
Speaker
in.
00:19:35
Speaker
And knowing me and my siblings, especially me and my sister, we'd probably be like, damn it, I knew I should have filled up my tank last night instead of going, ah, I'll just do it tomorrow.
00:19:46
Speaker
So we're going to be stuck in that situation.
00:19:47
Speaker
We're going to get far.
00:19:50
Speaker
And then we'll be like, you know, we'll be like, it's too hot out here.
00:19:54
Speaker
There's no AC.
00:19:56
Speaker
I don't have my nanny, would we?
00:19:58
Speaker
What are we going to do?
00:20:00
Speaker
It's no.
00:20:01
Speaker
Yeah.
00:20:01
Speaker
Yeah.
00:20:02
Speaker
That's just, oh my God.
00:20:04
Speaker
I'm talking about this man going through physical pain for 20 years, playing this game at the top most level, keeping themselves fit.
00:20:13
Speaker
And I can't like, I'm giving up in two days of an apocalypse.
00:20:18
Speaker
Just, yeah.
00:20:19
Speaker
That's why I should be celebrating these people, right?
00:20:21
Speaker
Although, although I sometimes think, would I really be like this if I was paid millions of dollars?
00:20:28
Speaker
But then they were paid millions of dollars because they got to that.
00:20:31
Speaker
I don't know.
00:20:35
Speaker
If you came for financial advice, I apologize.
00:20:38
Speaker
I don't think you should have, right?
00:20:39
Speaker
Why would you turn to this episode or me for that kind of thing?
00:20:44
Speaker
What else is happening?
00:20:47
Speaker
I've been doing shows again.
00:20:48
Speaker
We did an improv show and Rushdie decided we're just going to run this long form format at a show last night.
00:20:57
Speaker
And I it's just it's humbling.
00:21:00
Speaker
Improv is so humbling because four or five of us really fellow performers going to name that because I love these guys.
00:21:06
Speaker
Fred, my Portuguese man, Ashrafi, this Egyptian dude who's just like the funniest improviser I know.
00:21:14
Speaker
uh rushdie and i and this young how old is she 14 azana like i love when these kids man these kids coming through just brilliant and i at 14 you couldn't have got me to sit in the audience to watch a show because i'd be too nervous uh forget like being on stage right so that's how terrified i would have been and um
00:21:35
Speaker
Anyway, we're all on stage and we do three, four pretty good scenes.
00:21:41
Speaker
Good work, right?
00:21:42
Speaker
Like, great works.
00:21:43
Speaker
One or two of the scenes, I was like, yeah, you know what?
00:21:45
Speaker
This was satisfying.
00:21:46
Speaker
And then the last scene we did before we had to go off for the next act.
00:21:51
Speaker
Oh, my God.
00:21:53
Speaker
Oh, wow.
00:21:53
Speaker
It went, like, really bad.
00:21:55
Speaker
Like, it was like...
00:21:56
Speaker
a scene that was embarrassing.
00:21:58
Speaker
Like in the middle of the scene, I was like, I can't do anything to save this scene and I can't do anything to make sense of it.
00:22:05
Speaker
And I can see in the faces of my fellow improvisers that we've all kind of given up.
00:22:11
Speaker
And so I basically called it out and said, we should apologize to everyone watching this scene that this one has made no sense and it's terrible.
00:22:21
Speaker
Yeah.
00:22:23
Speaker
I don't think I've ever done it to another scene.
00:22:25
Speaker
I've been in loads of bad scenes, obviously, but I've never called it out like this.
00:22:29
Speaker
And so I did it.
00:22:31
Speaker
I did that.
00:22:32
Speaker
And we had to walk off after doing some great work with lots of laughter and satisfaction.
00:22:38
Speaker
We had to walk off on that terrible scene because we'd run out of time.
00:22:41
Speaker
I didn't want to boost my ego or play to my ego and go, hey, one more scene, one more scene because God knows how bad that would have been.
00:22:49
Speaker
But we had to walk off on that, and it was quite funny.
00:22:52
Speaker
that um that you you you're just humbled you you practice uh this art form and you do loads of stuff to connect and and play better and try to work together with each other and then this this terrible scene just happens and you go hey i don't know what else we could have done anywho that's life right and that's why i love improvising if you've never done it do it try it wherever you are try it it's it's such a
00:23:20
Speaker
life-changing thing in a good place, in a place that does it properly.
00:23:24
Speaker
Not places that do it just for comedic effect, even though I love the comedy side of it.
00:23:30
Speaker
Do it in a place that really wants to learn the art form because it really is a great thing to apply to the rest of your life and stuff.

Closing Remarks and Engagement

00:23:38
