The Influence of Environment on Personal Growth

Hello everyone, welcome back to the Mindful Educator podcast. So today's episode is going to be a bit short and sweet but it is one that um seems to be showing up a little bit. as I seem to be kind of doing episodes and things that I've been noticing a lot lately. So last week I went down to the city and I had a couple of days down there. i was doing a content day and I also had a ah content planning day and also a planning day with um one of my coaches.

And it was actually really interesting just being in the presence of people who are so highly motivated and who are doing the things, who are, you know, making the money, who are making the difference, who are really kind of out there showing how it can be done.

And I've also seen on social media lately of people that have been attending like workshops or conferences or things like that, coming back so inspired and so full of ideas and energy and all the rest of it. And it's really got me thinking about just how important is to be putting ourselves in the right rooms and these rooms with the right people as well.

And there actually is, you know, a bit of science and stuff behind this as well, which I find absolutely fascinating. But I guess when we're thinking of how we want our life and what we want things to look like, a lot of the time we might be basing that on stories that we have been told from those that we've grown up with, from those that we surround ourselves with. And so often when we decide that perhaps we want something a little bit more, it can be a little bit tricky for our minds to kind of wrap around that. And this is where if we're putting ourselves in the right rooms, it really is going to make a difference.

And so... What I want us to understand is our subconscious mind has no ability to reject any thoughts or ideas. It just accepts everything that it's given. All right. so if you can imagine as a little baby, you're growing up and you're just taking in all this information from those around you. And so that information may be things like money's really hard to come by or you have to work really hard to get anywhere or whatever else it is that you kind of pick up along the way. And these almost become ingrained in our minds. This becomes what we deem as normal. And this is going to look different for everyone because, you know, we all have different experiences. We're all surrounded by different people and different beliefs. And it's not until we get older that we kind of look back and we're like, oh, some of those may be limiting us a little bit.

And when we're trying to step out from that and go, you know what, I don't want that to limit me anymore, it can become really difficult for our minds to kind of get around that because this is just what what has been kind of put in This is part of our, you know, our mind's makeup. This is, you know, how how things are. So we kind of really need to look at rewiring our minds in order to extend beyond what we think is our normal. And so this is where...

Challenging Limiting Beliefs

we need to firstly be aware are we putting any any limitations on ourself you know where are we limiting ourself and our beliefs and our ability to do things and perhaps where are other people putting limitations on us you know so often when people kind of start stepping out and trying new things people are like well that's not you you don't do that it's like well past me may not have done that, but future me and present me definitely is because I want this to be part of my life. So I'm not sure what your Instagram feed is full of, but for me, um i obviously have a lot of coaching stuff come through. And a lot of the time, it's a lot of it is kind of money mindset based and stuff like that. And this might Some of you might be like, o icky, um which is really interesting. It's like, okay, well, why are you thinking that? And a lot of the time we put limitations on things like maybe how much money we can earn based on

and perhaps our history, like what our parents earned or those around us are earning. And we kind of put ourselves in this little box. So when we decide, oh, you know what? I actually want to be a bazillionaire. And everyone's like, oh, you can't do that. You know, you belong over here. It's like, oh, well, actually, if I go and hang out with these people, this to them is normal.

And I guess a good example, you know, if you were to go and hang out with the billionaires of the world, that is totally normal. There is no failure for them when it comes to money. Money is just one of those things that it comes and it goes and they know what to do with it. They play with it. It's just one of those things. It it doesn't...

I suppose, doesn't play on their mind as much as it might for us normal folk down here. And so if you're wanting to have a better money mindset, it totally makes sense that it's you're then going to hang out with people that are earning millions or earning, you know, six, seven figures, however many it is, but something beyond what is normal for you, you would be hanging out with them.

The Role of Social Circles in Career Advancement

And I guess it's a case of, all right, if you're looking at perhaps progressing in your career, right, And so you might be thinking, all right, I'm, you know, working at the checkout. That's that's all I do. All right. that's That's my life. That's what I do. But you're like, you know what, maybe I want to try something a little bit more. Well, it would make sense for you to then start being in the presence of people that perhaps are maybe in a more corporate environment.

sort of ah profession or something else that, you know, earns more money, has better hours, whatever it might be that you're wanting, it would make sense to be hanging out with those people because then you're kind of in that vibe, you're in that arena and you're getting ideas on, okay, well, this is normal for them. So this is how I can make it normal for me. Whereas if you stay maybe hanging out with the people that you work at the local shops with, you might not have that perspective on how to make this happen. And so this is where it's kind of, like I said, it's really important that you get in the right rooms with the right people who are doing the things that you're wanting to be doing.

And you hear about this all the time. Like I know a few um people that I've worked with have done this, you know, they've they've taken that leap. They've done that thing before they're even near ready. They've, you know, hung out in the millionaire mastermind of whatevers whoever's hosting it before they're even making millions because they're like, well, this is the energy I want to be in. So this is how I'm going to get there. I'm going to observe. I'm going to be within these people and it's going to help me get to that point. So a lot of this is also kind of to do with that vibrations and is it like the vibe that you get off people we're always emitting like an energetic frequency and a lot of people are like oh that's so weird and it's like well i actually no it's not

All this here, it's actually really scientific. And, you know, things like, um you know, like your MRIs, all that, like even radio frequency, like that's just, it's kind of, that's normal. And it's silly of us to think as as humans that we don't have an energetic vibration when we definitely do. And you'll notice as well, like some people make you feel amazing when you hang out with them and some people make you feel like crap when you hang out with them. And it's just whether your energy vibes with that person or not. It's not right or wrong. It's just one of those things that is interesting to notice.

So if we're wanting to be around people that are raising our vibes and getting us to where we want our be what to be, then this is where we need to put ourselves in maybe situations or rooms that are totally uncomfortable for us, but are going to help us get to that point.

Energy, Vibrations, and Personal Well-being

And this is where it's so important that we're actually aware of this as well. And you will know, you will know whether you're kind of with, you know, energy vibing people or whether you're like with energy draining people. It's really interesting. You can pick up on it if you just have that. Oh, interesting. I don't actually feel that great after hanging out with them. I feel like I'm not going to be able to achieve anything. So this is what I mean by getting in the right rooms. And for some people,

it's going to be increasingly difficult in terms of it may require changing a lot of your identity in that as well, changing who you've always thought yourself to be as a person. And it's like, well, if I want to be this high corporate figure, then perhaps I need to move away from hanging out down here and I need to kind of get myself up there more. And it's not trying to think of yourself as better than anyone. And I think this is where people kind of go, oh, you know, i don't want to do that. it's It's not a case of trying to think that you're better or worse or whatever than anyone else. It's a case of I have a goal of what I want to achieve. How can I get to that goal? If it means that I need to hang out in the rooms with these people, then that's what I'm going to have to do.

All right. And, you know, i still remember hearing people that I've worked with, they've been like, you know, like the smallest fish in the biggest pond or, you know, they think that they're kind of the big fish in the little pond based on where they are but as soon as they get into these rooms they're like oh whoa look I was like literally at the top of the iceberg here and so by being in these rooms with these people they've gone okay well this is normal now and they've made that normal for themselves as well and as a result they've been able to go on and achieve these things that they've been wanting to achieve

And I know for me last week, it was just, oh, it was amazing just having that opportunity to be in a room with people that are achieving great things, that are doing these great things. And, you know, because you come back and you're so inspired and you're like, yes, let's just do this.

And so what is going to get you to be like that? What's going to make you feel that lit up that you're like, yes, let's go. and so whether it means kind of, all right, I might need to invest a little bit in a coach that seems really out of reach, but if that's what I need to do to get that, then yeah, let's start taking steps towards this.

Or it might mean, okay, I know that this kind of makes me feel really crappy when I do or go there, So maybe I just need to limit that for the moment.

Taking Action Towards Personal Development and Ambitions

and Like I said, it's not a case of going through and going, oh, you're out of my life. I'm not doing this anymore. I'm not suggesting that at all. I'm just asking you to consider what is kind of bringing up those vibes for you, making you really high vibe, really energetic.

And what's kind of making you almost feel like your options are limitless. We don't want to be limited into these little boxes that perhaps had, you know, we've had from day dot. What are some things that you really want to achieve? that seem really out there.

And how are you going to do that? Who do you need to be hanging out with? Who do you need to be kind of in the presence of in order to make this happen? So just a little food for thought um for your Wednesday after I've kind of done that a little bit myself. And like i said, i've seen a lot of people have been doing this lately as well. I know there's been some International conferences that have happening. i know that there have been others and it's just, like said, it's always just really interesting as well, just to see the different perspective that people provide. And I'm not saying that you need to do exactly what they do. It's more just a case of being in the energy.

All right. That high vibe, let's go, like limitless energy of what we can actually achieve. Because the only limit limits that we put on ourselves are literally the ones that we put on ourselves. Right. It's not usually someone else doing it. It's what we're doing because that's what is normal for us. Whereas when you look at other people and you go, well, if they're doing that, who's to say I can't do that?

of course you bloody can. The only thing that's stopping you is you so let's get out there. Let's do these things that we've been doing or wanting to do or thinking about or dreaming about. And let's make these dreams reality. reality Let's get these things happening now so that they're not just a dream. They actually like, let's do this. All right. And this always comes back to my biggest philosophy. Like we've only literally got this one life. So Let's grab everything we can and do the absolute most with it while we're here. So anyway, there's my little vibe.
