It's the end of our summer hiatus! This is our first ever episode recorded with us both in the same place - in Leeds, as we went on the Emmerdale Village Tour together on Saturday, so get ready for a debrief on all the drama of that, as well as a recap of the main plot points from the last 6 weeks or so and some chat about recent events in the village.

Hello, we are so back. Guess who's back, it's us. It's us, welcome to Jingle The Way, I'm Lizzie. I'm Simon. And we are doing our first ever in-person recording. Ooh, we are literally in Leeds. We're literally in Leeds. in Leeds. Live in Leeds, although we aren't we are not gonna be like posting this straight away so it's not as live as it could Pre-recorded Leeds. Pre-recorded in Leeds and that has got

Emmerdale Village Tour Experience

00:00:26
Speaker
a ring to it. I think people will appreciate So thanks for bearing with us as we had our little summer hiatus but we've got very exciting episode for you today because what did we do yesterday Lizzie? Yesterday we went on the Emmerdale Village tour. Yeah we did. Again.
00:00:42
Speaker
um Simon very kindly got me and himself um tickets for the tour. um And it was the star tour. So we did, in fact, meet a star, which we'll tell you all about later. More excitingly, we made a nemesis, which we'll also tell you about. that yeah i Yeah, actually think that was maybe my highlight of the yeah, if you guys remember, which I had actually kind of forgotten, so it'd be impressive you did. um if I first started watching Emmerdale because Simon was like we should do the Emmerdale Village tour and we did it about two years ago and I'd never seen Emmerdale before so watched a few episodes to like get to grips with it um and the rest is history. give back i At that point I hadn't watched it for like six years but I was straight back in.
00:01:27
Speaker
So it was great to do the tour again and like actually know what the tour guide was talking about. Yeah, so it was very similar towards last time, unsurprisingly. Same anecdotes. ah Same jokes, unfortunately. A different tour guide. Told by a very different person.
00:01:42
Speaker
I think it was Kim last time, maybe. i've Kim Tate? It was Kim Tate. It wasn't Kim. I think her name was like Sarah or Rachel or something. Well, whatever name was, she was great. We loved her. And this guy, I think, was moments from killing.
00:01:56
Speaker
He did yell at you for walking on the grass. We had expressly asked everybody about three times not to walk on the grass. And in my defence, he pointed out where Leila's grave was. I needed to go and pay homage. But I had to pay homage from a distance. You had to pay homage from a pathway quite a long way from Leila's grave where you could only see the back of it. Yeah, and that's not what she'd have wanted. It's not what she would have wanted at all, but it is what happened. yeah um But strangely enough, that tour guide who yelled at you was not the nemesis that we made. he was just a passing hater, I suppose. A passing fancy. So, yeah, we will maybe mention the tour more, but the main thing is this gentleman. So it started when we were in a cafe gift shop little bit before you go into the tour proper, where you can buy little souvenirs stuff. We didn't because we already been to the bought by the fakes even years um but he and his partner had bought some peanut brittle branded with emmerdale um i don't know why i'll be telling the story they're gonna end up telling the story the wrong way around because you tell my bit i'll tell you but anyway anyway uh lizzie just said like oh what makes it emmerdale just trying to be a bit chatty because we'd already asked if we could sit next to them they were fine with that
00:03:14
Speaker
And he was like, oh, I don't know. And then moved the peanut brittle away from us. And that was, I think that was his villain origin story. It sounds innocuous, but that's where it all started. I don't know if he maybe thought I was making fun of him or making fun of Emmerdale or something. Cause I was like, oh, i love that. That's just like, that's just peanut brittle, but they put the word Emmerdale on it.
00:03:32
Speaker
I wonder to maybe Kerry sort of like packaged it up in the distribution center and he didn't laugh. No. then he moved it away from me and his partner was like, yeah, get out of the sun. It's not about the sun. It's about me. I was certainly trying pacify the situation. and we we applaud a peaceful king. But...
00:03:49
Speaker
So that was part one. Part one. Do you want to take it over part two? Yeah, part two was we were walking down the lane and they had set up um for something that we're not allowed to tell you about um because it's a trade secret, I guess. Yeah, that's quite exciting. So there's in we saw evidence of an event, but we can say no more. Yeah, what can we say? We can say there's bunting because that does not narrow it down at all. There's bunting at every single...
00:04:11
Speaker
Or maybe I'd given the game away. but we had been cautioned, like he said, don't put photos of us on social media. And we'd also been told throughout the whole tour, don't take video. and We had plans to do like live video from the village, but we weren't allowed to We're not allowed to. Anyway, Simon has his phone out and is taking a photo and the same peanut brittle gentleman comes up behind him and says, stop taking that video or I'm going to report you.
00:04:33
Speaker
And I was so taken aback. was like, where what's happening? Where are we? like And I was like, when I'm just taking photos. Photos are alive and he sort of had gone by then. so it was it was all very dizzying. But I found it hilarious because who's this like tall Karen who suddenly is it like desperate to prevent video being taken? It was incredible. It was like he was secret police. um So that was something. I just remembered actually back to the peanut brittle. I know this is no longer chronological, but you said, well it's just as well Jacob isn't here because he does have a deathly allergy. did. And maybe he didn't realise we meant the character Jacob who's fictional.
00:05:11
Speaker
Maybe he thought I was, like, maybe he thought I was Karen-ing them re-having Keena in public. Maybe he was like, you're going to report me for my allergens, so I'm going to report you for your videos. Oh my gosh, it all adds up. um Part three of Mimitor story. And again, i hope this is what you were hoping for as a feedback on the door. LAUGHTER is he and his partner were having a little photo. I think it' was outside the church. We were taking a selfie. We were taking a selfie. And Lizzie kindly was like, oh would you like me to take that photo for you? And then not ah not a millisecond passed without him, was like, no, thank you. And we kept walking. We turned around. Maybe 30 seconds, no, 20 seconds later, another woman was taking a photograph of them outside the church. Clearly she'd offered and that offer had been accepted. So we don't know what we did.
00:05:59
Speaker
We don't know how we got here. Maybe he's listening. Look, peanut brittle guy. We meant nothing by it. I do hope you've recovered from your severe sunburn. That might have put him in a bad mood. That was unfair.
00:06:13
Speaker
It's not this far. People get sunburned. I get sunburned every year. Yeah. So that was, for me, i guess, a highlight of the Eldale Village tour, rightly or wrongly. was saying to someone, we went to a party at my friend's house last night. Happy birthday, Bea. Happy birthday, Bea. By the way, who told us, no offence, but I love listening to your podcast because it helps me fall asleep. um What was I saying? It's gone out of my mind. Shall mention another highlight of the tour? Whilst it comes back to you. which So you two years ago, you could go onto the bridge where Leanne fell to her death. It's not very big drop, so you wouldn't murder someone were pushing someone off it. But you know I understood that little photo. And this time we were told you can stand near the bridge, but not on it. And the reason for why is apparently a year ago, someone did push their friend off the bridge to reenact the scene. And since then, they've scored it for everyone. There's no more bridge standing for anyone.
00:07:10
Speaker
It's ah just so wonderful, isn't it, that we managed to stand on that low, low bridge two years ago. People can't do that now. They really can't. They're not allowed. um Yeah, I

Meeting Bradley Riches and Tour Reflections

00:07:21
Speaker
enjoyed it all. well should we talk about the special guest? We should talk about the special star guest. We were siphoned into the village hall and we were told under no circumstances can we take photos of the memorabilia in there. then it really did seem to be large just pictures of Ashley. So I don't know why that was something we had to keep to our graves, but, um, well, you've also completely blown, blown the cover of her. Anyway.
00:07:44
Speaker
um And then they announced, didn't they, that the special guest was... Bradley Riches, a.k.a. Lewis Barton. Who's such a treasure. Lizzie had recently met him, so it was a bit of a recap for her. It was a recap for me, but it was new for you. was new for me, and it was lovely to meet him. He very sweet. You get...
00:08:03
Speaker
told and under no circumstances to ask them to sign anything except the official book that you have to re pre-dedicate yourself so we didn't do that and yeah we didn't realize that he wasn't gonna allowed to sign anything but that and so at the beginning they were like do you want purchase this book for someone to sign we were like no because we were like we'll just get him to sign something else although all that i had was a copy of gilead by man robinson and for some reason i had many post-its in my bag But we were like, it's fine. You can just sign Gilead. And then we were told he can not sign Gilead. and We had high hopes of asking our staff to a voice note, but we didn't have any time for that. And also we were standing in front of a room full of people wanting to get their photo with him. But he was very sweet. he um i mean, I'm sure he was exhausted. He'd been doing it all day, but he was he was very nice. Yeah. And he had some amazing like flower shaped buttons on his shirt that i was quite taken with. And then in the cafe afterwards, as I was buying something described as a white crunch, he was ah he got a free cup of coffee.
00:09:00
Speaker
So there you Hopefully some solace to him, because sadly his coffee van has been stolen. Yeah, if anybody sees a coffee van around Leeds, it's probably Bradley Richards. probably Bradley Richards. So all in all, just a really fun time. The weather was lovely. The village was it was lovely to be back and to know more about who the actual characters... mean, because last time I... Like, the long-term characters I knew, but I didn't know what had happened in the last six years, whereas here is always a dizzying mystery. My life is a dizzying mystery, all right.
00:09:26
Speaker
Yeah, no, it was a great time. it was nice that it was sunnier this time. It was quite cloudy last time we were there. I took a lot of photos.

Exclusive Emmerdale Set Details

00:09:33
Speaker
I don't know if I'll ever look at any of it again. um You can see us with Lewis Barton on our Instagram, dinglealltheway.pod. Yeah, I posted on there for the first time in about six months, actually. so We had hoped desperately that it would be Sheb so that we could all hang out and be best friends, but you know. did not message me after my terror terribly uncalled request for it on the last episode. It did seem, I would say desperate actually. Yeah, it's really put him off, I can imagine. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure the restraining order is in the post. Do they serve them in the post? I've never been served one, but... That does surprise me. No, it is an anomaly. Yeah. Anyway, we love Lewis slash Bradley. We love, we love Emmerdale. We love Emmerdale. We love the pictures of Ashley. We love the many embarrassed fans, including our nemesis. We love our nemesis. He has such a special place in my house. That's what I was going to say. yeah When we were at B and Johnny's yesterday, i was saying to somebody, it felt like a kick for me because, normally when I get the feeling somebody's annoyed with me I just have to talk to them about it I have to be like I'm like what's going on are we okay like how can we work on this together but it just felt like a real kick to be like I'm never gonna see you again I don't have a relationship with you to mend
00:10:53
Speaker
This is really weird to me, but also kind of enjoyable. Just to have a nemesis for like three hours on a Saturday afternoon. Yeah, if he was a colleague, I'd be heartbroken. Yeah, exactly. If he was a friend of mine, I would probably not have slept last night. But he's not. He's not.
00:11:10
Speaker
um we did think we might spread the word about the podcast more on the tour, but it didn't seem, I mean, I did a little bit of like, what's the name of that Emmerdale podcast? And you can be like, dinkle all the way, but I don't i don't think it's gone viral. as Yeah, I'm not really sure that many Emmerdale fans listen to podcasts. I think that's why have probably reached the ceiling of how many listeners we're ever going to this, but we're having a nice time. And we love you And we're helping Bea to sleep.
00:11:40
Speaker
And that's a mercy. And that's a mercy. So yeah, that's our tour. That's our life update. Can absolutely recommend doing the tour. If you've not been super fun, the village is so much smaller than you think. And everything, oh, we've got another couple exclusives about the set. I forgot what I was going to say. Are you allowed to say this? What are you about to say? about the stables i think we can say this so yeah as you drive into the bit we have quite a little way out the village and on the corner as you turn in into the secret location there's a little building complex where you have kim's stables and kim's stables is the same building
00:12:15
Speaker
as Caleb Milligan International on the other side. That's the label there. So that yard and the stables, same building. And the next door to that is the Welsh cottage where Tim and Belle went. Tim.
00:12:26
Speaker
Tim and Belle. Tom and Belle. Not in Wales. Actually in Yorkshire. Actually quite close to Eka. Yeah, good times. That was fun. I love that sort of stuff.
00:12:38
Speaker
Really like, oh, TV magic. TV magic. Yeah, everything is quite compact and close together. And obviously, all of the inside scenes are actually filmed at the studios on Kirkstall Road, which I do cycle past every day on my way to the office. um So it's just like the outdoor scene. So most of the insides of the cottages are like you know, dressing rooms and stuff. Yeah, yeah.
00:12:58
Speaker
And we did have lunch at the original Walpac that morning, which was fun because the Eschalt Walpac pub is still there. Yeah. They sadly didn't have the one thing on the menu that you quite wanted. That's true. It was limited for vegetarians, so I'll war warn you that. But they were very friendly. They were very friendly about it. And the post office that the Windsors used to own and that got blown up,
00:13:19
Speaker
is still a post office and they sell all manner of sort of knockoff branded Emmerdale things, including I got a a key ring with a picture of Mac on it where he looks, I would say, haunted in the eyes. And across his forehead, they've written Mac and across his neck, they've written Emmerdale. And it's just charming. Yeah, it's interesting which characters they thought spoke for themselves and which needed aggressive labelling. Yeah.
00:13:44
Speaker
yeah who else had their name and emerald written on was maybe i think that one other person but they really leaned into like the attractive younger male of certain cast so they knew what their demographic is and then also really really like bear but yeah true and moira moira was on a keyring was she the only woman on a keyring i didn't notice that but you think you're right think charity managed to have one but it was slim pickings I bought a pack of playing cards with a wall pack on and a pencil. So, yeah.
00:14:11
Speaker
And absolutely obsessed with the icon who just rushed in. It's like, do you have anything that could possibly function as wrapping paper? The lady behind the tail was basically like, no. She was obviously lovely, but she's like, what do you mean? What are you talking about?
00:14:27
Speaker
But they seem to, they seem to go on well. So it wasn't a nemesis situation there. No. And actually, if anybody yesterday should have become our nemesis, it probably was the lady running the post office because we were quite loudly being like, wow, all of this stuff is terrible. I love it.
00:14:41
Speaker
Yeah, she seemed to like us. So it's no accounting for days. I bought two lighters that say um a gift from Emmerdale on them. And I don't even really smoke. I just think they're very charming. Yeah. um So, yeah, it was a good day out.
00:14:56
Speaker
And that's that. That's as much as you need to know. i'm Happy St. Swithin's Day. Oh, to you too. um So we have, well, I've

Plotline Catch-ups and Nemesis Storyline

00:15:07
Speaker
watched all the episodes. lizzie's ah Lizzie's got back in this week and has also watched that amazing episode where um Mac finds out everything that Charity's been up to and Kevin, Kevin, I've gone very formal, Kev reveals his parentage to our friend, Lewis Barton. Yeah. Yeah, I um tried to catch up all the way from whenever it was that we paused the podcast until now and then found it an unmanageable burden in my life. um So instead, I've watched the last week of episodes and we thought it'd be quite fun for me to be like, so what the heck? What happened with all these things? So can I ask you all my big questions? Oh, please, yeah. And we'll cover cover the recent events as well before we get back into the we' back into the normal swing of things from here, but it's a bit of a catch-up app.
00:15:50
Speaker
Something that I feel I should ask you about but ultimately don't really care is like what's been happening with this AI storyline. um What AI story? Wasn't there something about um oh Archie and like a deep fake and Carrie or something? Yeah, we saw more of Archie and Archie ages 10 years every time he's on screen. I remember you saying that last time. And it's so true. so he has got incredible AI skills and that he's able to fake Steph's voice without any files or any evidence. Are you sure? right So I assume it was Georgie did little yeah report or something. So yeah, Caleb got a phone call saying like, Dad, ยฃ3,000 something. um which he just wired to her. Classic. People still wire things. um
00:16:31
Speaker
Western Union. And Kerry found out and Pollard found out and Kerry got in on it because she wanted, she was like, okay, you can do it one more time, but i want to buy a handbag. And then i don't i forget how Caleb worked out. It was i know it's because when they were on the call and it was going through, like ah apparently anything they said would automatically be transmitted to him and Steph's voice. um She referenced how Laurel and Ross had been together or something. And they were like, well, AI scammers don't know the ins and outs of, so to speak, of um the... Stop....MDL dalliances. So therefore it must be someone local. And then Archie tried to suggest that maybe they'd gather this information from social media as though someone was just live tweeting Laurel's affairs.
00:17:20
Speaker
Or indeed Ross's, both of whom are profligate in that department. So, ah yeah. Yeah. They eventually worked out it was Archie and then Caleb, for some reason, decided not to tell police. It was also like, I mean, ยฃ3,000 is a lot of money to lose, but it's it's not like career-ending amounts of money to lose for Caleb Milligan International. No, presumably he's got plenty in the bank, but it's probably more of a principal thing than anything else. Yeah, I guess so And that somehow led to Kerry, Caleb and Billy running like a sweatshop. What? What? Well, not quite. They wanted to sell knockoff shoes and things.
00:17:57
Speaker
And then, I don't know if this is going to develop into anything, but one of these shoes had a label in it that said, help me on it. oh and And they were like, oh we can't use them anymore because they're sweatshop. And Bear found out and he was all like, I was just modern slavery. So instead, Cammie wandered in and was like, oh, do you want to get the, I don't know about cars, some sort of pipe or some sort of branded pipe. A branded pipe? It might not be pipe.
00:18:22
Speaker
Let's say catalytic converter. That's a car thing. Yeah, that's a car thing. I don't think it was that. But it's like you can either get the one that's branded with like, I know, catalytic converter Zara's or you can get the off-brand one.
00:18:34
Speaker
And they were like, well, they're the same thing, it doesn't matter. And then Kayla was like, oh, so what you're saying is when they make designer clothing, it's all the same, but some of them have brands and others, some of them don't, which I don't think is how designer clothes work. So they've now got a business model where they just sew like the word Prada into other gloves or something.
00:18:53
Speaker
So that's something they're into now. Okay, and that's still going on. I think so. Every now and then Kerry mentions it. I think Billy dropped out because he didn't want to go to prison. i do see that. Yeah. And I think he referenced having been to prison. So I guess he has been to prison in the past. I don't know why or when.
00:19:08
Speaker
Do you really think that selling so knockoff handbags is worthy of jail time in our justice system? Well, i mean, it depends, doesn't it? suppose if you are the people running the slave sweatshops then maybe. does seem like just Billy sewing a label into to a handbag wouldn't send him straight down. But maybe if he's done time before, they will be less lenient.
00:19:30
Speaker
And actually that leads into my next question, which is how did Billy and Gabby get

Romantic Developments and Character Drama

00:19:34
Speaker
together? Oh, well, I don't think watching the show would help you understand that. It was very sudden.
00:19:43
Speaker
she saw him She was talking about her health kick or something, which is clearly ah developing storyline. yeah um And he said something about being fit. And she's like, oh, you are really fit or something. And that was the end. And they're like, well, I guess you think I'm fit. I think you're fit. He originally was like, no, we shouldn't because you live with my children.
00:20:02
Speaker
um ah That is confusing, I guess. Shortly afterwards, she had buttoned her blouse or something. and if she I think I made that up. but But he was all like, actually, you're right. I do fancy you. Why not? And then um Dawn has been getting a bit jealous about him. Yeah, well, I saw a glimmer of that this week, especially when Clemmie found out.
00:20:21
Speaker
Yeah, I presume we had to pass it on to all the other children, as they say as is the way in that family. She's a spokesperson for new news. So I'm quite pro it. It's nice for, we have Billy's had a bit more screen time, which is nice. Yeah, and I think Billy and Gabby are two characters who like are fairly normal and deserve a nice normal life compared to, you know, most people that are pretty unhinged. and I did write down Billy and Gabby not 100 because it was like... Okay. Suddenly we're a long-time commitment.
00:20:51
Speaker
Wow. And you' you've already picked up that there's some sort of, like, disordered eating thing going on with Gabby. So far it's just her, like, seeing what she can do with a beetroot, but... but also inflicting that on Thomas of like not letting him go to that party if there was like sugar there kind of thing. She's redone the menu at the hide, hive, high half hide, hop. Hide. I can never remember what it's called. And she was going to do the wedding food. Was that before you watched? I think they mentioned the fact that she wasn't doing the wedding food anymore. I had a little taste thing for some reason in like the middle of a working day in the cabin where Kim and Joe and Dawn rocked off and they were like tofu gross and that was sort of the end of it. Yeah I do get that if it's your wedding no offense I know you're a vegetarian. I am a vegetarian and i have been to a vegetarian wedding and that was quite nice. That must have been quite nice for you to just be like everything here is also for me. yeah it was yeah include your vegetarian friends people that if you take nothing else from us but i will say i mean if i'm not a healthy eating vegetarian i'm just a vegetarian because cheesecake is already vegetarian i don't need you to make it a beetroot yeah that is true Last night we had a takeaway from somewhere called Pure Vegetarian Delight. It was pure, it was vegetarian, it was delightful. Just like yourself. Thank So yeah, I can recommend that. It's at the end of my road. Maybe i won't now tell you where it is because then you'll know where I live. That's true. For me, I think people can really piece things together at that point.
00:22:18
Speaker
Something I would also really like to know. When and how did Todd finally leave the village? Because I watched episodes where he she was like, I'm going Sheffield now. Bye. But then she came back and it was like around. and Yeah. Well, after the episode where Charity told Mac everything, yeah she did go to the police and they did go and arrest Todd. Okay, great. But then they released her significant enough evidence, even though they did all the DNA stuff.
00:22:46
Speaker
And she claimed was consensual. Mac went to go and yell at her. um And she did lots of like, your wife lies all the time, manipulation. i think Mac still believes her. But then we a little flash forward to Dr. Todd dead. pile of blood. Oh my word. pile of blood, pool of blood. ah But just an enormous pile of blood. pile blood. so that was a little flash. i Initially I thought it was happening then and I was quite confused, but it was a flash forward. Okay. So at some point we're getting a Dr. ho dr Todd murder mystery. Oh, that's fun. But at the moment I think she's just busying herself somewhere else. Somewhere in Sheffield. Yeah. Tooth and fros. And God bless her because Sheffield, actually anybody I know who's ever lived in Sheffield loves it, but every time I visit I just don't get the hype.
00:23:29
Speaker
I've only been once I did find it surprisingly bland. Yeah, I think that's where I'm at. I'm like, there's nothing actively wrong with this place. I just don't get why everyone's obsessed with it. and I didn't know they were. Well, if you've ever met anybody who's lived there, they'll tell you how amazing Sheffield is. Yeah, there we go.
00:23:45
Speaker
But Dr Todd apparently can, I mean, she's never not moving house, bless her. That's all she ever does. Moving house and manipulating people. Like, I don't move very often. I haven't moved for nine years. But it was like a big operation where she, like a woman in her 50s, maybe, presumably has quite a lot of stuff. And she's like, yeah, I'm moving with Vanessa for a week. And then I'm going to move out again. She does appear be able to fit it all into her car as well. Which is a fun touch. Maybe she's one of those, like, low living people.
00:24:12
Speaker
Yeah, what minimalist. yeah She might be Marie Kondo and we just haven't noticed. She might, I've never seen them together. Well, and you have got mild to medium face blindness as we established.
00:24:23
Speaker
yeah Okay, what else is there? i guess, the like, what's this robbery thing with Kev? um Oh yeah, so Kev came back, um as you know. As I know, because he... i I got the gist of what was going on with his kidnapping and the cat and stuff. Yeah, that was all very odd. That was all very odd. And then he told Lewis that he was his dad.
00:24:47
Speaker
But then what's this robbery? Yeah, and embafflingly changed his name to Barton, which shouldn't be Lewis's surname as discussed. True. True. And then, so Nicola and Ross worried that Kev would hurt Lewis. And so they staged their own break-in at the cafe and tried to frame Kev of successfully for a while.
00:25:04
Speaker
But then when Kev went and like, relocated, was that the opposite of dislocated? He relocated Ross's arm. And that was enough for him to be like, I'll tell the truth.
00:25:15
Speaker
Okay, well that was actually surprisingly quick and easy to get the hang of. And look, i am I'd say 90% certain that Nicola and Kevin are going to end up together at some point. Yeah, I think they have got that sort of like bickeriness going on and there have been... rumours that Jimmy is getting axed which is crazy to me and we can say from the graveyard currently no freshly dug graves no freshly dug graves because last time went there was a freshly dug grave and they'd removed the name so we couldn't know who it was and it turns out it was Ethan which a name which would have meant nothing to either of us In many ways means nothing us now. yeah
00:25:50
Speaker
My only other question was going to be like, who on earth is Selina? But I guess that's kind of the main plot point that don't know that. hate to interrupt you, but her name is Serena. Look, they're the same name.
00:26:02
Speaker
yeah you're not wrong. um yeah well she was introduced i think and not in the episode you saw me i think it must have been the one before because she'd like just arrived and she seemed to just walk into butler's farm and sarah was like why you here but also have a cup of tea and let me tell you my life story yeah which is weird like you don't just walk into somebody else's house no even if you're like turns out my great-grandfather was also your great-grandfather or whatever yeah like if i had like a third cousin great would be nice to get to know them if they were sat in my lounge when i came home from work it would be like maybe you should leave and i'll get to know you in a safe space i'd be livid if my parents did that um so the episode before that or a bit before that charity was having a bit of a breakdown by a lake
00:26:45
Speaker
oh not A lake down. a lake down. um unclear where that was. And then she just bumps into this lovely lady who's like, tell me all about it. You don't know who I am. You'll never see me again. You might as well just tell me everything, including like the parentage of Sarah's baby.
00:27:02
Speaker
Turns out that was Serena just turned up Why would you bare your soul to someone who might end up being part of your family in a way? Yeah, well, I guess you just so assume someone you just meet by random lake is not going to be a part of your family. Yeah, true. But you should never assume that. Especially when you live in Emmerdale. Yeah, charity, come on, that's not your first rodeo. And then I did find it quite funny that when they discovered that Serena used to be a policeman, this was treated as like the worst possible betrayal. It's like, it's okay for people to have jobs. It's okay for people to have jobs. it's okay for people to leave jobs. Yeah, I don't understand. i don't understand. I also don't need to resurrect the John storyline. We have more than enough. I know, but it does appear to be in the process of resurrection, much like Easter Sunday. yeah it doesn't. you seem to be seem to be in in the holy saturday we're on holy saturday i just can't cope with it all yeah and so we don't know anything about her i'm not particularly charmed by her as of yet i'm sure she'll mellow but she does love an off the shoulder t-shirt
00:28:02
Speaker
that's something that's something um she did make a quite like self-aware comment about there not being many mixed-race people in yorkshire and it's like well particularly in ammerdale they don't manage to keep mixing or indeed non-white people in prominent storylines very long but she is you know we do want more sugdens well i want more seconds we do want more seconds and actually this could be a lovely opportunity for the slurry saga to finally be put to rest because i I think about it most days, the fact that Mac took the blame for that and it was John all along. Maybe this is finally gonna put an end to it. Maybe she'll be like, John did mention before he died. He did the slurry. um Yeah, it was quite strange that um that apparently she was good friends with John who didn't know any other Sugdens or that the Sugdens existed. so that yeah that was an unusual one. Unless he was lying about that the whole time. We both laughed out loud, didn't we, when... um
00:29:00
Speaker
One of them had stolen her phone to like, look at things. And then she was like, it's not what it looks like. And what it looked like was the most awkward photo of her and John. but It looked like they were sort of children's TV presenters or something.
00:29:13
Speaker
It did look like they were, like, two parts of Resurrecting the Power Rangers or, like, the Wiggles or something. It's not what it looks like. It's like, what do you mean? Like, you're going to a costume party where have to dress up as your favourite 90s icon and because that's what it looks like. That's exactly what it looks like, but...
00:29:28
Speaker
I guess it's not what it looks like. That's strange. One of my favorite moments in this week, real all of this, was when aon Aaron was very suspicious, as you know. Yes. um And she mentioned some friend she's going to meet up with, and Aaron says, who's this mate she's never mentioned before?
00:29:43
Speaker
And he met her, like, the previous day. Like, are you meant to go through every friend you've ever had? Let me draw you a quick family tree. Here's every single one of my Facebook friends. Here's my LinkedIn connections. Very odd.
00:29:54
Speaker
um And I would like Aaron to be slightly less grumpy with his husband occasionally. Yeah, he does seem to not be in a great way. Although he does look great at the moment. He's had a glow up. yeah We know that Danny Miller has been like in boot camp or whatever and he looked great. Yeah, so well done Danny Miller, I guess. Yeah, but when you've come back from a month away because you're filming Celebrity Apprentice, at least give your husband a peck on the cheek. Don't immediately be like, are you an idiot?
00:30:18
Speaker
Yeah, it's quite a lot of of things to navigate, isn't it? There's an awful lot going on. and mean Do we care about Serena? not yet, i would say. No, and I think we would probably will find out that she's in some way a double agent.
00:30:34
Speaker
It's just crazy to me that they trust her because like, John, they trusted John. But it's also crazy to me that they're like, or the last time he had a circle and turned up, he turned out to be like a serial killer. It's like, well, the only thing they've got in common is a surname. Like you can't just assume everyone who turns up is a serial killer. That's true. Find somewhere between blindly trusting people and assuming they're a serial killer, please. Yeah, it's a middle ground that most of us managed to strike. but Like I met a lot of your friends last night and none of them would I like have given my internet passwords to on site, but also i wasn't like, hmm, have they killed today? But if you had to put a finger on which one of them is most likely to have killed today. oh I mean, I love this. It wasn't a new person, but you know, I love Joe, but he could have, he could have killed. He could have killed. He's got that passionate look in his eyes. And he might have forgotten he'd done it.
00:31:24
Speaker
ah Yeah, so true. Okay. And who would you be most likely to give your internet passwords to? Oh, so Oh, that's so sweet. I'll let him know. Yeah, he's presumably listening. Yeah, true. He's probably fallen asleep by now. i Do you have any more questions? I think that was it. Oh, wow. um Okay. Well, maybe I should have done, but I don't.
00:31:46
Speaker
Kyle is a firebug, do you know that? I knew that, but what happened to the end of that? Oh, Graham became like a mentor to him. I think I saw some of that, yeah. He upset about it. how So, well, Kyle set fire to another barn and then the dog was in there, so they rushed the dog to the vet. And the dog got cancer.
00:32:03
Speaker
That's how they discovered the dog had cancer, by doing various tests. um A bit like I discovered my cat had kidney disease when he went blind. So he really hit home. Thank you for sharing. Thank you. He's not blind anymore. um So there was quite some moving scenes of Cain being like, my dad loved this

Cain's Emotional Scenes and Kev's Storyline

00:32:23
Speaker
dog. And the dog being like, what's going on? And I'm terribly sorry to say that we saw Piper on screen again. Oh, we all were so glad when that dog died. It turned out it was just a ruse. Yeah. Yeah. there's what The one good thing Tom did was to dispose of that dog.
00:32:39
Speaker
um We are kidding. We don't think even ugly dogs should die. But that apparently Piper was mourning the lack of, I want to say Monty. Yeah. Yeah.
00:32:49
Speaker
but I don't think they've ever been on screen together before but Piper also seemed quite confused to be there
00:32:58
Speaker
I can't remember anything we were saying sorry Kane's had an endless loop of the same talk about your feelings don't talk about your feelings I just feel like that's been his plotline for the last year has been like learning he should talk about his feelings and then forgetting and then the next week doing something else Yeah, so, well, should we talk a bit about the special episode you watched? ah Guys, I know this was a while ago, but it was such a good episode. So the one, yeah, as I say, where Mac finds out and maybe my favourite scene ever. Wow. When...
00:33:29
Speaker
Kev comes in and sings Papadone Preach. No, not sorry, no, he sang Papadone Preach this week, which was great. He sang Father and Son, which they referred to as being by Boyzone, which is kick in the tooth to Yusuf Islam, who originally recorded that. That is quite gutting.
00:33:44
Speaker
Yeah, what a great episode. I think, like, huge... Props to Mac, well, actor of Mac, Lawrence Robb. So good. Yeah, he did such a good job of, like, going through all of the emotions of, like, obviously Fury, obviously, like, how could do this to Sarah?
00:34:05
Speaker
And then into, like, being very kind and supportive and, like, at the end when he was saying to Charity, like, yeah, this isn't karma. Like, what happened to you with Dr. Todd?
00:34:19
Speaker
it can't be framed in your mind as like, I did a bad thing, so this happened to me. And he's so like, like, to me, that was what marriage is.
00:34:30
Speaker
When you, at the at the end, when he was just like, you've done awful things to me, but I can still care about you and I can still help you to like, like get the help that you need. And I was like, finally Emmerdale, there is an illustration of someone being like, I've made a promise to love you and it's really hard right now.
00:34:48
Speaker
but I am just going to choose to do it and to do things that like put you first, even though you've already heard me. Yeah, I love that they are staying together. I mean, it is maybe ridiculous, but it's also... We've got such nuance in the story, and helps that both emma Atkins and Lawrence Robb are really good actors. um I don't think Lawrence Robb's had...
00:35:07
Speaker
had much to do since the bunker in terms of like sharing it and it's to break post bunk and it is quite hard to realistically act being trapped in a bunker but this one he did um yeah i was so impressed by the nuance he brought to it but and it was it considering what a ridiculous soapy storyline it it didn't those scenes didn't feel like stupid soap I was unsettled when someone on Reddit did point out that Sarah is currently breastfeeding her aunt. Yeah, that's quite tricky. When you say something like that, it is that's a hard pill to swallow.
00:35:41
Speaker
But um yeah, i we obviously all knew at some point the truth would come out. I sort of assumed it might all come out to everyone, but i quite like Mac knows first and that Charity told him he didn't find out in some absurd way. So yeah, I thought it was really, yeah really well done, really interesting scenes. And you could really see Mac trying to balance like this huge betrayal and his wife being raped at the same time of like, how do I care for you whilst also being angry with you?
00:36:08
Speaker
Yeah, I thought they did such a good job. i I don't want to sort of detract from that. Sure. But something that did distract me almost the entire way through Was it Charity was wearing that jumper that my friend Philip said looked like it had like toilet roll just unraveling across it? it's Because she's unraveling. And maybe it is because she's unraveling and there is some sort of, you know, deep meaning in that. But I just kept thinking about the toilet roll.
00:36:35
Speaker
Well, I'm sorry that took out the moment. Sorry for taking us out of this moment. The other part of the episode was, as mentioned, Kev. coming and thinking the best way to tell Lewis that he is his biological father is by singing father and son to him. yeah And what made that scene to me was Ross's facial expressions, which were incredible. like Lewis's facial expressions were pretty good, but Ross was fantastic. He's so good. And like his facial expressions also when um Kev was like popping a dislocated shoulder bag in
00:37:11
Speaker
it's just wonderful. He's so good. I love him. And during the kidnap, when he was like taking the blame for it and looked so sad that Lewis was rejecting him, he's just, he's just, he's so expressive and yeah and it tears at the odd heartstrings.
00:37:23
Speaker
He is fantastic. And yeah, we love him. We love him. I also love during Kev's song where he got to the line, find a girl, settle down. We just did a little like grimace. Girl. And before that, when Vinny was like, I thought you were gay, and he was like, well, this a teachable moment for you. Yeah, I was going to say that. That's good, because we have said on Emmerdale before, everyone is either gay or straight, and they don't really care for bisexuals. They care for bisexuals, I guess. Yeah.
00:37:47
Speaker
So that was that was a good thing. Yeah. oh that just i I don't think I've ever re-watched a scene on Emmerdale straight away, but I was I need to watch all of this again. I need to put myself through that one more time. I loved it And I mean, we we all remember, of course, his karaoke scene. And I think the actor would love not to be singing lines anymore. But that's his thing now. I don't know. Maybe it's something he's into. Maybe it is.
00:38:12
Speaker
Oh, dear. So, yeah, he brought his lemon driz for a van back to the village. Yeah, I missed that whole thing. But I did hear about it. Yeah. Well, it's still there somewhere, apparently. be, quote, other side of the village, which, as we've been in today, yesterday, can only be 100 metres away. Yeah. Absolutely maximum. Unless he's like...
00:38:29
Speaker
put it up by the factory or something maybe it's up in the top what is it the top field or the fence always needs needs vending i do think actually you you could sell a lot of cake if you had it by a factory because everyone on their lunch break that's true if it was up by ken and bergen yeah and the stables and the stables and the welsh cottage if it was in wales it would do really well and it's called a slice of kevin which it's a pun that doesn't really work if you say out loud because kevin is also his name so Yeah, slice Kevin. I don't want to slice a slice of Kevin. Yeah, that's okay, I think. I loved him describing himself as a gladiatorial and unhinged yet charismatic hard man.
00:39:08
Speaker
like, yeah, amazing. Gladiatorial, don't get that word every day. When did he describe himself as that? i am It was this week sometime, like Tuesday maybe. Oh, i must have heard it then. And I forget to what end, but I think he was talking...
00:39:23
Speaker
I guess he was to someone. guess he was talking. But he he just elevates everyone he's with. Like Kevin Nicola. I mean, Nicola's already great. Nicola needs no elevation. Ross needs no elevation. But Claudette and Charles, he elevates them and they do need a lift up in my mind. so Yeah. um Charles andlaudette and Claudette, don't know if you've seen scenes in their house lately. no what's happened? So when he moved in there, they keep their books in rainbow order. I have noticed that before.
00:39:52
Speaker
And that's something that I i have mixed feelings about. yeah I can imagine why isn't I mean, it's nice to see books. It's nice that someone in the village can read. Yeah, and I think, well, boy we discovered on the tour that there is apparently a monthly book club, which they were advertising in the notice board. Yeah, although they were also advertising yoga with Ashley. So I think maybe the notice board does need updating somewhat. Two different posters requesting people to come become chuck part of the churchyard maintenance team, which is maintained every single day. every single day.
00:40:23
Speaker
We also found it quite puzzling. They had the rotor up outside the church for who was doing what on each day. And they have sidesmen for each service, like at 8am, 10am and the evening or something. Then they've only got one person for the whole Sunday on like welcome and coffee and something else. And you're like, does that mean you're doing that for all three of the services? Because that's a really long day.
00:40:47
Speaker
It's a long day. And we've got so many names we've never heard, like Joan Knight, Alan Bunce, Christine, Val Lawson, Dave Smith, Cath Long, Christine, Pam Ireland, Bill Gregory, and Natalie Brown. They're doing all this work. They're doing all this work. And many, and many many more. There was one on there that i really wanted to meet. I think it might have been up Chris Trotter. Chris Trotter. I'd love to meet Chris Trotter.
00:41:06
Speaker
And Nicola Thomas would be Nicola's name when she had married Ashley. So that's something to consider. So true. Maybe she's a long-nose relative of yours. Oh, she is. Nicola. So we see we don't often see people in this church. we Heaven knows where they're coming from. But apparently it's got three services a day. And I will say...
00:41:23
Speaker
As someone whose dad worked in rural ministry and who lives in a village, my church in my little village has one morning service a month and one evening service a month. We're certainly not managing three services every Sunday. Yeah, village it is impressive. And also quite strange to me that the the one area of service that anybody in the congregation is really committing to is being a sidesman, which I can't even remember what that involves. It's been so long since I've been in Anglican church. Don't you just sort sit at the sides?
00:41:48
Speaker
Well, you just hand people hymn books when they come in, really. Okay. doesn't feel like you need... I mean, you need someone to do or you can just pile them up. Yeah, I know. Can't you just put them on the shelf and you can get your own on the way in? Yeah, it's not very welcoming, but there is a separate welcome team. But there's a separate welcome team, you so it's fine. I think they can probably just stop having the sidesmen.
00:42:05
Speaker
That could be a real weight off their mind, because those people have run ragged. Yeah. If there's something that I think I should do, it's become the church administrator for this church in Emmerdale. Please offer your services.
00:42:17
Speaker
I mean Charles doesn't seem to be on any rotas but i guess that's fine. Vicar doesn't need to be. But Claudette's not on any rotas. Why Claudette not helping out? So true. And Laurel. And Laurel who sometimes goes there because her dad.
00:42:29
Speaker
Her ex-husband. By which I mean dad-husband. Was a Vicar. i mean he was ex-husband until towards the end of his story when they got back together just because they wanted her to do the heavy lifting of the dementia storyline. And didn't she also sleep with Charles at some point? Oh, she did. I think just when we started watching, maybe. yeah Speaking of people who sleep with people. Okay. Lovely segue. I was thrilled that Manpreet and Ross had another night passion. And this was, um we didn't see any of it except the morning after. where But I don't feel great about this. The reason he did it is so he had an alibi for the cafe break-in. No! But I got the impression that Manpreet wouldn't really have minded. Yeah. wow because they were yeah they were having like breakfast together in the in i wish i could remember what it was called the hide the hide yeah um the next day and someone like laurel or someone was being shocked and manpreet was like we're consenting adults why is everyone making such a big deal of it and i love manpreet when she's in like flirty mode so fun she is great
00:43:34
Speaker
And she looked incredible in her golfing outfit. She looked so good in her golfing outfit. She goes golfing with Jimmy, we've learned. Yeah, and that's cute. Obviously Nicola was having none of it and bless her. But I love the idea that like in nicholas mind manpreet might be tempted into something with jimmy he's just like with ross yeah did you do you remember that silver jacket that jimmy was in oh that was a love yeah that was part of the knockoff uh clothing storyline okay i think because i just dipped in for that one episode i was bit like is there like a storyline of just the fact that jimmy is really badly dressed and maybe overheating in this heat wave
00:44:10
Speaker
No, it was that it was he was so excited by that jacket that it really inspired Caleb to send him an illegal clothing business.
00:44:19
Speaker
That's really mystifying to me. um Yeah, so I think Manpreet is probably safe from some his wiles. But just more Manpreet, that's what we need. More Manpreet. More Manpreet, we do love her.
00:44:34
Speaker
um Something I would like to share is that I'm quite gutted about the way that um Robert and Aaron have redecorated the inside of Butler's because it used to be like a family home with a heart, you know, it was a bit table big table, a little bit messy, but like cottage vibes.
00:44:53
Speaker
And now they've painted it all quite dark and it's got the same sort of soulless looming air as when they used to live in that flat that was like 90% banisters. You just like, you've really ripped out the heart of this place. For two gay men, you've really not brought interior design. Sorry, one gay and one bisexual. There we go. You are just the bad. Part of the erasing. And to be fair, for some reason it is this you know youngish married couple or or engaged couple and Matty living in the Yeah, that is confusing. And I guess at times Selina slash Serena will just turn up and sit on their sofa. Yeah. And who knows, maybe Kyle's living on the stairs. We don't know.
00:45:30
Speaker
but um You set fire to the stairs. Set fire to the stairs. Yeah, all a lot to take in. But um at some point, presumably, Seb's going to turn up. We keep expecting that to happen. You keep exposing that to happen, yeah. you Well, I do struggle to remember who Seb is, and you keep reminding me. I just wasn't watching at the time. is Robert's son. I know, I do know that. um i think i've said all of the things i needed to say okay when i've got a handful more okay yeah you go speaking of decoration i think it's been there for a long time but i only happened to notice it the other day when leon was awkwardly talking in charity's living room they just got c s-e-a written in like big letters above a fake porthole fake porthole which i don't think we saw from the back of the house yeah true it was very very strange decor in there like
00:46:20
Speaker
I'd say they're pretty far from the sea. Their closest sea would probably be like Filey or Scarborough. And that would be like at least an hour and a half away from where they are. And it was it did scream like changing rooms period when everyone like, oh, you once went on holiday to the sea and you liked it. Or they're going to give you an intensely naval theme. They're going to glue shells everywhere. Some naval gazing, if you will. Wow, okay, nice. And it was horrible. And it really took me out of the emotion of the moment. Yeah, the main thing that took me out that whole scene was just Liam in general. and that vile hat. The hat was a lot. And it just seemed like you need to not be here, but you are so aggressively here. And Chaz said when the whole thing came up, because she obviously knows all about the baby and stuff,
00:47:05
Speaker
said I haven't even told Liam. It's like, you've not shared a scene with Liam for months. You haven't looked at Liam for the last year. You don't really know who Liam is. I wonder when they will finally call off their engagement because we all know they're not going to get married. Surely, surely. They're so incompatible.
00:47:19
Speaker
Also, when they were all the four of them were having that quite intense conversation, they did say that Moses was a sleepover. I'm like, who's friends with Moses? Oh, bless Moses. Yeah, I love that they sometimes invent a reason that he's not there, whereas 90% of the time we just assume that he's he's not there at all. like Yeah, like I mean, I hate hop on it, but we've I don't think you've ever seen Johnny. like I haven't seen Johnny for years and years and years. Vanessa's son. like He's always upstairs. He's always upstairs.
00:47:47
Speaker
presumably they'll bring him back at some point. Yeah, I don't know, She's probably 12 or maybe 13 right now. This week we've also covered, haven't really covered yet, sorry, that Mac went and accosted Ross Oh yeah, of course. And then you fell off a railing onto what looked like quite a pillowy bed of sacks. I was going to say, it looked like a lovely little lie down. Yeah. Because you might record in our announcement episode, I'd recently fallen onto my coffee table. That didn't look since sound great. By comparison, I'd love to have fallen on those sacks. Do you remember those adverts um for really pillowy looking sofas that people used to throw themselves onto and it looked lovely? That's what

Ross's Melodrama and Noah's Decision to Move

00:48:27
Speaker
it reminded me of. And then he was like groaning in pain. i was like, oh, did that hurt somehow?
00:48:33
Speaker
And I guess he dislocated his shoulder. um i was actually watching a clip yesterday that they showed those scenes ons and on Celebrity Gogglebox. Did they? um I didn't know who many of the celebrities were, but they did point out, like, why are they continually walking into the rafters? was like, just so one of them can fall off this thing. Because at one point,
00:48:51
Speaker
was quite like Juliet balcony coded. Yeah, that's so true. Ross was just at the top, just like giving a little spiel down to the gallery. Very Capulet energy. Yeah, very Capulet. um So, I mean, I hope they make do a mend on their friendship. but I think they will. I think surely they'll get through it. think a where Ross was like, we weren't friends then. Yeah. um I think Charity thought that Mac had left because wasn't that like AI bunker time?
00:49:16
Speaker
I honestly can't remember. I think Jon had sent that note being like, I'm leaving you forever, bye, love, Mac. I don't know. When she told him about it, she was like, we just had that huge row. I think it was afterwards. Okay. Okay.
00:49:31
Speaker
Well. I mean, it wasn't great. you shouldn't You shouldn't have an affair. And I do hate it when people are like, well, I wasn't in a marriage. It's like, if you sleep with a married person, you are as much to blame as the person who is in the marriage, in my opinion. Okay. Hot take from Simon. It's my hot take. As long as you know, obviously. Yeah. they haven't told you. I mean, i I haven't ever thought about it, so I'm not in a position to agree or disagree with you. But, yeah. Either way, not great.
00:49:55
Speaker
um and At some point, Sarah and Jacob are going be going to find out. So that's going to be a hot hard time to hot time. I think it's going to not be a hot time at all. I'm so intrigued to know what happened to that baby. But it might be right that episode of The Simpsons where they discover that Seymour is not really his mum's biological son. And at the end, they're just like, let's just never think about this again or refer to it. And they'll just be like, have the baby. Yeah, I think that's probably actually genuinely the most likely. Raise your hand. Like, raise your aunt. Enjoy it. Yeah. Like, this is what you always wanted.
00:50:27
Speaker
You love her. And maybe it'll just mean that, like, Ross can stop giving sort of, like, pining looks at the child if it's like, well, that is your child. do you want to, like, take them out for the afternoon?
00:50:39
Speaker
Yeah. just have a really complex web of family. Yeah. mean, it's not ideal. I'm not saying it's ideal. No one's saying ideal. I'm just saying there are ways through now in a way that it felt like there weren't before.
00:50:51
Speaker
Yeah. um mean, it does break my heart when Ross looks sad, though. So that's something that's hard for all of us, but particularly for me. Yeah, I guess you are the main person suffering in all of this. That does remind me of the Esholt gift shop. For some reason, they had little dangly men you could stick on the fridge for long arm and legs. And the only one they had was Ross Barton. Yeah, and I think it was just a generic... so They'd done a bulk order ross bar on dangly men and then they'd written Ross Barton on...
00:51:20
Speaker
And I always bought one but then was like, what would I do this? I guess, presumably, you would put on your fridge as you would with any fridge magnet. I suppose Well, I didn't. um Yeah, I would like Ross to have a like a proper long-term partner, though, so he's not always just, like, pining over his various love children. Yeah.
00:51:37
Speaker
I really thought they were going to go the distance with Steph. I know, sadly, she's not coming back, is she? Steph, come back. Right. Riff indeed. Maybe Manpreet could be his long-term partner. I just don't know. I feel like him and Laurel could maybe have gone the distance. Well, Laurel was looking a bit jealous about the Manpreet situation, so I think it might be a stepping stone in their love story. But I think he's got more chemistry with Manpreet.
00:51:59
Speaker
Yeah, but sometimes you don't just need chemistry, you need something else going on below the surface. Well, Manpreet's got it all. She's a doctor. She lives with Ryan. She's got everything going on. It's her two main accolades. Oh, that's a bit of... Ryan actually got a sniff of a story. Really? you' watching What happened? So you may or may not know that he is the child of the previous time that Charity was raped.
00:52:23
Speaker
Oh. Which I actually have not fully pieced together slash remembered. Yeah. And so when it all came to the fore and she was right this time, she it so sort of brought back all those feelings. she's like ah She couldn't be around Ryan. and she said And he was like, what have I done wrong? and She said, you were born. yeah And obviously he was really hurt by that. Oh yeah, well you would be. Yeah. um So and yeah, there's some quite moving scenes and Charity obviously wasn't coping. She was like, I can't talk about it. And he was really sad. He talked to Ross about it and Yeah, it was quite of moving.
00:52:51
Speaker
Speaking of moving,
00:52:55
Speaker
Noah's on his way out. what segue so now he's going to move to germany yeah i really enjoyed the fact he told jacob and sarah like i might move to germany and if my friend told me i might loot like leave the country and live abroad i'd be like wow that sounds like a big move i'd be so sad not to see you anymore but like maybe that's what's best for you talk me through it they were just blindly like yeah do it mate that sounds amazing bye the merest hint that he might leave they were like you have to go yeah David David worry about the fact that you don't have a working visa we just need you gone they will almost definitely not let you in the country we're not in the Schengen zone anymore but get out of here they're like we can help you pack this afternoon if you like where are your boxes That was so funny. And look, Noah leaving the show, god bless him, won't make the smallest bit of difference to anyone. so i think he is a sweet soul. And he is one of the ones who has been there since he was a child. So I think that would be like a big deal for that actor. Oh, I'm sure for him. Yeah. And I'm sure he's well loved in the cast and all that sort of thing. But he's he's not a story apart from like almost having his kidney stolen. Yeah, and he did sort of reference that, didn't he? He was like, yeah, the most exciting thing that ever happened to me was when I was going to go to Dubai. And Jacob was like, what?
00:54:12
Speaker
Because Joe wanted to steal your kidney? He wasn't actually going to Dubai. Did you give ever every piece that together? i know that That was never actually an offer that was on the table. um he' also described being an electrician as a dead end job. It's like the amount of money I pay my electrician. I should hope not. He's fine. Yeah, like that's definitely a very good trade to know. Yeah, that is he will always be in work.
00:54:34
Speaker
So yeah, that's the only thing he's got going for him. Although he does seem to never get paid. He's always just going to like Lydia and Sam's house and saying, your electrics are literally from the 1840s. Do something about it. They're held together by pig wire. Did they have electricity in the I'd love you not to question me. i think they, I don't know.
00:54:53
Speaker
I didn't know when Thomas Edison was around. What is electricity? Oh, my neurons? Isn't that what's in your brain? Neutrons? Neutrons. Jimmy Neutrons. Electrons? Protons?
00:55:04
Speaker
I think it's best that we don't dwell. Yeah, I've wired a plug once if that helps you at all. Yeah, I've wired in light light fittings. I've wired that light fitting into this house. Oh my gosh, you should know what electricity is then. Well, yeah.
00:55:17
Speaker
You know what is electricity? Anytime Ross and Manfrey are on screen together. Okay, bringing it back. Okay. Well, I'm glad we're back. It's super fun. i don't think I've got any other notes. Let me just double check.
00:55:29
Speaker
No. Oh, Dingle Court is the only thing I was going to mention. So in what I would describe as a direct copy of our podcast. if members of the Dingle family are now having little chats on, uh, on social media about, are you claiming that we're members of the Dingle family? Dingle all the way. Dingle all the way family. no, obviously she it's not a copy of us, but maybe they wanted to call it Dingle all the way and they had to change the title. maybe know Um, I caught a glimpse of, uh, Jeff Hoadley, AKA Kane and, um,
00:56:00
Speaker
Eden Tyler Draper. Okay, Belle. Talking about which way round they want toilet roll. So they've really, they've really lent into sort of 2007 internet. sort of two thousand and seven internet Is it a podcast?
00:56:12
Speaker
And everything's a podcast now, isn't it? They're just sort of set with podcast mics at the table in Sam and Lydia's house. So I don't think they're releasing it on like audio. It's just on Facebook clips, but maybe it's our thing. And different members of the Dingle family will turn up. And you know what that means We might get Cammy because he's an honorary Dingle. So true. And we'll hopefully get Lydia because I love her.
00:56:33
Speaker
can you mention cammy and lydia talking about stuff that'd be made for us um it is a shame that in all the time since cammy had a very deep heart to heart about his family issues which i thought was amazing those scenes he was so good and they were so moving and it's never been mentioned so guys why we why did we say i think expressly for us that we were finally getting a cammy storyline only for it to be over in blink of an eye so hopefully it's coming back hopefully he'll get some family come join i don't know something he did say we're going to delve more into the family issues at some point so i reckon we might get a sister turning up at some point oh that'd be nice maybe serena is his sister don't know serena's left selena i think she's almost definitely not his sister i don't want to be clear i do know they are not the same ethnicity thank you for clarifying that i'm not the same ethnicity as any of the other segments anything can happen them anything can happen and should
00:57:25
Speaker
Actually, one of the best reveals i think they've ever done was when they revealed, after years of them both being in the cast, that Vanessa and Tracy were sisters, and that will worked really well. Great. Yeah, maybe more of that. Maybe Cammy is secretly... don't know. Who can he secretly be related to?
00:57:43
Speaker
It's very difficult to say. And I'm not, again, i'm not talking on ethical lines. You can pick anyone. I think it'd be fun if he's like, turns out he is Jimmy's cousin or something. Can you imagine if he was actually related to Belle and then it'd be like, oh, he can't go out. That would be a lot to take. Yeah. Oh, but you know, I love a shock reveal parent thing. Maybe Nicola's his mom. We don't know.
00:58:08
Speaker
i really feel like I know he's not her son. ah Maybe Nicolette's aunt. I can see that a bit more. and Maybe he's Kev's other son. Oh my gosh, that'd be great. I'd love that. Wait, what was it that when Kev first came to the village, wasn't there like a rumour that he was somebody else's father? I gave a little zoom in on them. Who was it? Was it Vinny? It might have been Vinny or somebody. Yeah, that was odd. No, it was Dylan. Everyone everyone thought he going to be Dylan's dad. And i wonder if he was meant to be Dylan's dad at one point. Wait, where the heck is Dylan? and We haven't seen Dylan in April for while. mean, bless them. They've been on screen like every day, all day for years. Yeah, sure. They do deserve it maybe early retirement at this stage.
00:58:51
Speaker
He's exhausted, I can only imagine. But we've not seen him that lot for a while, which is actually fine. Yeah, I think we were ready for a break, weren't we? Yeah, just want them to have a happy time. Yeah. And they can't have that if they're on screen. They can't have that if they're in the village. Sad things will just keep on happening to them. Oh, dear. Yeah.
00:59:09
Speaker
Great, well we're back, we're bigger than ever. Thank We don't have the random character generated today, so we'll come onto to that, but was there any farming content? um Probably, but i personally wasn't there to see it. Were you? I feel like we saw a farm on Thursday, but why? Did we?
00:59:26
Speaker
Yeah, what was going on? Oh, i think I think maybe just Robert and Serena had like an odd... Oh no, Robert got hit by hay bales. Oh my word. And it really would not have knocked him out, surely. No, if anything, much like Ross falling on sacks of cloudy pillows, it would have been... I'd love to be buried in hay.
00:59:45
Speaker
We can make that happen for you if you Thank you. Although, please don't take this the wrong way. You seem like the kind of person who would have quite severe their hay fever. I do have severe hay fever. So it would be itll be a passing blessing and then I'd asphyxiate. But yeah, Aaron seems to think that Serena seina serena um caused this. Like, i don't know, by releasing the handbrake or whatever you have on a hay baler. It's just got so many similarities to the slurry. It's so true. Maybe Mac did it. Mac did nothing. We must relinquish his name from the slurry drama.
01:00:21
Speaker
um But, yeah, so he hurt his arm. He was briefly knocked out, which is something that I feel you should spend more time in hospital than none. Yeah, maybe. Actually, two of my friends recently have had quite severe concussion.
01:00:35
Speaker
they go to hospital? One of them should have done, but didn't. Oh, gosh. And then... um Yeah, was just in bed for two weeks. Wow. yeah And that one didn't go to hospital. And it and that was not her choice.
01:00:49
Speaker
ill I'll ask you that off mic. Yeah, ask me when I'm not recording this conversation. Wow. I mean, I did walk into a bridge a while ago and I didn't worry about getting concussion, but i did I did just message my friend being like, if I'm not found. Yeah. I mean, we also messaged our friend who is like head of A&E in York and we were like, hey, this happened and we didn't go to hospital. She was like you really should have gone into to hospital, but all we would have done was monitor you for the time period, which has now elapsed. So like, if you haven if you haven't thrown up all of consciousness, then like,
01:01:19
Speaker
You're in like not a great way, but like we can't do anything for you anyway. Fair. Well, Robert managed to shake it off. He just dislocated his arm or broken his arm? He'd done something with arm. Which Aaron then gave a hearty shove on her later that day. When they threw Serena out, not because they thought she was a hay bale,
01:01:40
Speaker
orchestrator um but i guess that is farming content he was he was doing the hay paling um and actually it's the right time right time of year considering they filmed it when it wasn't the right time of year yeah anna just finished doing all the hay where did they find that hay from film it six weeks ago it just don't know it was all made of fiberglass or something I'd hate to be buried at five at last. That would not be lovely, actually. No, it wouldn't set off your hay fever and cry the same way, but you would have a horrible debilitating rash, I suppose. It's ups and downs. Splinters of glass in you. So yeah, some actual farming content. Thank you, Robert, for actually doing some farming. He grew up on a farm. He knows what he's doing in a way. Yeah, and no one else is doing any work on that farm. That's so true.
01:02:25
Speaker
Because when Mac's like, I need you to come and help me in a barn, All he's doing is shoving people into off balconies. And that would put you off becoming part of the workforce. Yes, true. Who knows what Ross does for a living there.
01:02:37
Speaker
What does he ever do for a living? Well, he used to work on the farm. Yeah, that's so true. He was a mechanic at one point. Yeah, interesting. Seems to just sort of beat people up and call it a day now. Yeah. Oh dear. Well, do you let us know if you have any thoughts or feedback or if you're just delighted to have us. Yeah, it would be really nice to know if anybody cares that we're back. Dinglealltheway.pod at gmail.com or comment on Spotify. We always see those well. Yeah, we like the Spotify comments. They're cute. And we're just now back into the normal normal stretch of things.
01:03:09
Speaker
Not an expression. It's not a phrase that I've heard before, but apparently it's what we're doing. um Great. Well, yeah. See you in a couple of weeks, I guess. Take care. Lots of love. Bye.
