The Amazing Rewatch: Hello everybody. Welcome back. Is this our third batch now? Is this the start of the third batch? of Yes. Season 20. There's probably just a lot of...
The Amazing Rewatch: noises because I noticed I was re -listening to the second batch and there was like... some Scratching noise. Oh. And like when my...
The Amazing Rewatch: One hour.
The Amazing Rewatch: Chord like moves on our like against our computer or something, oh it makes a noise. so And I just did that a lot. so whoops Okay, we'll have to try to be really still. We are currently sitting.
The Amazing Rewatch: in um a condo in Windsor, California. We're on like a girl's trip with our mom and our other sister. So... If we're not as excited and enthusiastic on this episode, thought that's probably why, because we're trying to be quiet. because I think they're trying to go to sleep. but Um,
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah. We brought our microphones with us because we have... quite not quite a few four episodes to record and like Uh... Weak.
The Amazing Rewatch: And I... But... We're going to be gone for yeah that week. so um Yeah, we have like road tripped. to from Utah to Lake Tahoe and then from Lake Tahoe to Windsor so we had some downtime tonight and we decided to watch and record. So this one is episode.
The Amazing Rewatch: eight First aired, I don't say this as much anymore, April 15th. 2012. Yeah, and we were in Tanzania last episode and not surprising we are going to be staying here this episode.
The Amazing Rewatch: Takes a long time to get there. It's kind of a very remote place so I'm not surprised that we like got there and then or staying there again this episode. There's lotyssey and a lot to see and do there.
The Amazing Rewatch: So Rachel and Dave were team number one. They are departing at 6 .03 a .m. And the clue says go to go on a safari. into the I can't remember. I forget how to say this every time. Ngoro Ngoro. Ngoro Ngoro Crater.
The Amazing Rewatch: Travel to Safari Junction. and find Hillary Clinton.
The Amazing Rewatch: So we're not sure what that is yet. no So Mark and Popper leave at 6 .05. And Bopper is talking about his... knee pain. So he...
The Amazing Rewatch: Apparently had knee surgery like five or six months ago. And in the last leg, he like tweaked his knee. Which is not good. No. Because that can really slow you down or like cause a lot of damage if you just can go try to power through it. so And then Art and JJ at 623. And we are told that there is a U -turn ahead.
The Amazing Rewatch: And Art and JJ are telling us that they've strategized with Dave and Rachel that whoever gets to the U -turn mat first will U -turn Brennan and Rachel. And they said, strategically.
The Amazing Rewatch: We want to get Brandon and Rachel out. But... Then they also say that Brendan and Rachel are like not strong competitors and not smart. So really, they just don't like them. Right. And...
The Amazing Rewatch: Even if they did U -turn Brennan and Rachel. strategically that doesn't mean they're necessarily going to be eliminated. Because they understand how far... behind Nary a J we are.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, like this whole... Strategy. The first half of the episode, I was like... Didn't I read? Jamie get eliminated and I just didn't realize it? Because they do quite a bit of... the leg without nary and jamie even departing yet because So we just said that you'd...
The Amazing Rewatch: Art and JJ were 623. And then Brendan and Rachel are 648 and Vanessa and Ralph at 718. And then they, like we said, they do quite a bit of the Leg.
The Amazing Rewatch: And then Nary and Jamie finally depart at 921. Yeah. They so like they have to drive through the crater first to kind of get to their first clue and they are seeing all sorts of animals and like really having a good time. And it looked...
The Amazing Rewatch: Beautiful. Super awesome. Yeah. And. So... Yeah. Anyways. Like, they they start their detours and, like, some even... finish their detours before nary and jamie even leave so So, um, yeah. So like the first clue that they arrive at.
The Amazing Rewatch: at this Hillary Clinton. Clinkton? It's just like a roadside stand. um There's one named Barack Obama. and yeah Yeah, I don't understand the significance of this, but um it is a detour. Rachel and Dave and Mark and Bob are kind of arrived there at the same time. And the choices are water supply or air supply.
The Amazing Rewatch: For water supply, they have to help locals acquire water by picking up a cart full of empty water containers and a specific address. they go to the local well wait in line and fill up their barrels and take them to the to the homeowner at that address.
The Amazing Rewatch: Um. And then... air supply is they have to remove a bike's inner tube without removing the tire submerge it in water to find the leak and then repair the hole and put the tire back together Yeah, so it'd be hard to make this decision yeah because i've never changed a bike tire before so i don't know I think I would probably would have picked water supply.
The Amazing Rewatch: but It looks like it's the wrong choice. Yeah, because so um Rachel and Dave and Mark and Bob were to choose Air Supply. Mark and Barbara said they've been... riding bikes their whole life and they've always had used bikes and they know how to change a tire. yeah and then Art and JJ choose water supply.
The Amazing Rewatch: So while those teams get to the air supply and they're working on the tires. art and art and jj get their containers and get to the well and the line is super super long and they can't they just have to wait they have to wait in line and so like jj stands in line while art walks up and like counts how many people and he said that Um, it takes like 30.
The Amazing Rewatch: 40 seconds to fill up one. water container and there's like 60 or so people in line. So he's like, where it's going to take 35 minutes just to. wait in line.
The Amazing Rewatch: And they're like, well, it's going to take us 20 minutes to find the other detour and then learn it. And we might as well stay here. So they stay. Then when Brandon and Rachel arrive, and they choose air supply.
The Amazing Rewatch: And Vanessa and Ralph get to... the area but they can't find the hillary clinton place they're just walking around Asking for it and nobody. can give them like the right directions and they're kind of just wandering Wandering aimlessly.
The Amazing Rewatch: And back at the detour, Mark mark and Bopper actually finish first. And the clue says, make your way on foot to Jack Stelzer's pub. Caution, you turn ahead. Double you turn ahead. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: And then Rachel and Dave finished the detour right after them. And this is finally when Mary and Jamie leave. Yeah. And we'll, but Brendan and Rachel also get to the detour. And then, yeah, Nary and Jamie leave. So. Yeah. quite a bit behind so when Art and JJ is saying, like,
The Amazing Rewatch: It's our strategy. to get Brendan and Rachel out. Even if you U -turn them. that might not mean they're going to get out right the strategy to get somebody out would be to Maybe target the team in the last place. Right. And they're so concerned about them being.
The Amazing Rewatch: Agents and not teachers. Yeah. But they just have this vendetta against. The Green Team. Yeah. They call Brendan and Rachel the green team because they're always wearing green. but Yeah, or big brother.
The Amazing Rewatch: So Mark and Bopper get to the U -turn map first and they don't U -turn anyone, which doesn't surprise me. Because they don't have ill will towards anyone. They're just minding their own business. Yeah. And they're doing really well. yeah And JJ are also doing well, not minding their own business, yeah but. There's more annoying. And that clue says, make your way to the gem.
The Amazing Rewatch: Gallery. Gem Gallery and Art to get your next clue. And then Rachel and Dave arrive. And like we had said, Art and JJ apparently made this.
The Amazing Rewatch: Packed with... Rachel and Dave. dave They're like, what do you think we should do? Because they see how far ahead they are in the group. And they're like, let's not U -turn anyone. And Dave says, success is achieved without creating unnecessary enemies. right so basically saying like we don't need to worry about them let's just run our own race and Yeah. like There's no point in doing that. Yeah, they the teachers. Quote unquote teachers are really far behind.
The Amazing Rewatch: I mean, I think U -turns should be used. They're there for a reason. Right. But is this the first one? i think so and there could be another one So yeah, future so they don't want to. use their u -turn yet if they don't have to right they know how far Like they're just not...
The Amazing Rewatch: threatened by being eliminated at any point. on On this lake. Because yeah they know how. far behind people are yes So. Um.
The Amazing Rewatch: Vanessa and Ralph still haven't found Hillary Clinton, but they are like wandering around so far that they actually get to the detour and see that Brendan and Rachel are there fixing bike tires.
The Amazing Rewatch: And Ralph's like, well, there's something that needed to direct us here. Like we're missing something. We need to find a clue that tells us to come here. So they leave again and Neri and Jamie are like on their way. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: So it's like kind of. So they've been searching for a long time. Yeah, it's getting tight. And that's been like two hours. Yeah. But Vanessa and Ralph finally find it and they choose air supply because. Probably because they know where it is.
The Amazing Rewatch: Um. So they go back to where they just were. And then Art and JJ finally make it to the front of the line to fill up their water and they deliver the water and get the clue.
The Amazing Rewatch: And... And... Rachel and Dave are now getting to the next. clue this art and gem studio and this is where the speed bump is so all the other teams just like go here, get a clue and leave and go somewhere else.
The Amazing Rewatch: m but when nary and jamie arrive they will have to do the speed bump there and this says make your way to margaret's farm Mm hmm. I forgot. Right down the town.
The Amazing Rewatch: So Art and JJ finish up the detour and they get to that. pub and they find the U -turn map and they see nobody's U -turned them. So they assume, oh, we're the first ones here. Nobody's been here. yeah because obviously if rachel and dave had got here before us they would have You turned to Brennan and Rachel. Because we promised each other. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: But so Art and JJ, you turn Brennan and Rachel. And... Um, Then they go to... that gem place to get the clue to go to the farm.
The Amazing Rewatch: Mhm. So Brendan and Rachel finished a detour and get to the U -turn mat and they see their U -turn and they say shocker. Yeah. They knew it was coming. yeah And they, you turn Vanessa and Ralph, which. Also a shocker. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: Like if we have to U -Tune somebody, we want it to be. Yes. Our favorite people. sarcastically yeah So... Which that's not very strategic either. Like I know that they.
The Amazing Rewatch: Like it would have been strategic to do like Nary and Jamie. Yeah. They would have definitely been out. Yeah, but... Either way, it's like... Somebody. To give them more time. yeah So.
The Amazing Rewatch: So they have to go back and do the other detour, the water supply. And. And the line is longer yeah at this point too. And then Vanessa and Ralph get to the mat and they see that they've been U -turned and... They're not surprised.
The Amazing Rewatch: And. Then we get back to the teams at the first at the beginning of the pack. So Mark and Bopper get to the farm first. And the clue there is a roadblock and it's to be or not to be.
The Amazing Rewatch: To B -E -E. Yeah. uh so yeah they have to do beekeeping stuff they put on a protective bee suit and harvest 500 grams of honey And these are like. african bees and apparently they will sting you so But like, can you feel?
The Amazing Rewatch: Do you still get stung when you're wearing a bee suit? I don't think unless it like gets inside of it. Yeah. Oh, that would be. awful. So and ah Mark is going to do the roadblock because like Bopper is saying his knee is hurting. And so. He doesn't want to.
The Amazing Rewatch: heard it even more and then dave is right behind them doing the roadblock. Um, Yeah, and Art and JJ are in the taxi. And will not stop talking.
The Amazing Rewatch: no About this. promise Mostly made. JJ. Mostly JJ. And at one point, art is like... Just let it go. like Don't worry about it. Yeah. JJ is so... Because he figures out that...
The Amazing Rewatch: Because they saw Rachel and Dave. no so they're going to the when they pick up the clue i think there's only like a couple left in the box and they're like oh so we're not first yeah And we...
The Amazing Rewatch: had a pact with rachel and dave and they are going word yeah That is... So sleazy and if I ever see them again, I'm gonna pretend that they're not there and I will never work with them again And I will never blah blah blah and then they get to the detour and they see that Rachel and Dave are there. so Dave is doing the...
The Amazing Rewatch: roadblock i meant roadblock dave is doing the roadblock and rachel's standing there and jj and art get there and art does the roadblock so jj is like asking her like Well, Dave has is like finishing up and they're like trying to leave. Yeah, and they're trying to like wrap it up and leave and head to the pit stop. and Um,
The Amazing Rewatch: And he's like, why don't you guys do it? what happened and she's like the teachers are so far behind us doesn't even make sense like they will never catch up and it was just a waste like that they're so far behind it's okay it's okay and that And he's like... They're dead to me. I will never, I don't even want to speak to them ever again. Yeah. Like he's so offended. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: And it's seriously, it's like, it's a game. And he's like, art we're on our own now. No more helping anyone. And Art's like, all right. Okay, let me go. Avoid getting stung by some bees here. just Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: So did we say that Mark... Oh, yeah. Mark finishes first. And yeah, and the clue says make your way on foot to Lake Munyara for the pit stop, which is just like right where they are. You have to go on foot. Yeah. And...
The Amazing Rewatch: They're running to the pit stop and they're kind of racing Rachel and Dave there because they're really close. But Mark and Popper haven't got a first place yet. But Mark's knee hurts. I mean, Bobber's knee hurts really bad.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, and he keeps saying, I'm sorry. This is the best I can do. I'm so sorry. And you almost feel like, oh no, Rachel and Dave might pass them. And then. Gosh, and I kept thinking like. That would be so rude. Like for Rachel and Dave who have already won four times. Yeah. Just like let them have this one. With the knee.
The Amazing Rewatch: yeah But they make it right before them. And they went on a trip to Hawaii. and I'm interested to see what happens with the knee because That's not good.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah. That's gonna be... major. Yeah. So. And Rachel and Dave are team number two. And it's weird because they like kind of get up to the mat at the same time and Phil says that Mark and Bopper are team number one and they're like freak they're like excited. and Rachel's like.
The Amazing Rewatch: I'm excited, but he's a sore loser. To Dave. Yeah. like He was just standing there. And he was like, I'm excited. He didn't say anything. Yeah, he's like, I'm excited for them. Yeah. Like, we we were saying last episode or the one before, like...
The Amazing Rewatch: When they do fight, it's weird because she kind of eggs him on. Oh yeah. Like this. Why did she even need to say that? Yeah. And like that's her husband. She doesn't have to like call her husband out on national television. He wasn't even doing anything. Yeah. And he's like, geez, I'm happy for them. Yeah, I'm yeah i'm excited for them.
The Amazing Rewatch: And she's like... it was weird and what did he say he was like i feel like we should have contributed more what does that even mean Yeah, I don't i don't get that. what that part is. And she's like, i i helped ah I helped her something like that. And Mark and Bopper's like, yeah, she's been doing so great. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: that was I didn't understand that. But I feel like, didn't he say we? she didn't say she He didn't say she. I feel like she should contribute more. I didn't understand that either. yeah There must be like some behind the scenes stuff that we. are missing a little bit. but Um.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, so then Art finishes the roadblock and... JJ is still mad about it, but they are team number three. and like the thing When he's on the...
The Amazing Rewatch: Matt and he's like explaining to Phil what's going on and he's like it makes me sick to my stomach and I'm like oh my god If I could do it all over again, I'd tag. them for the U -turn, like yeah Rachel and Dave. If I knew.
The Amazing Rewatch: And yeah, he is so offended. He's annoying. He will not let things go. Like art's not. that into all this stuff. Yeah. JJ is so dramatic. Because JJ is the one with, the hadtic like, calling out Mary and Jamie as federal agents or, you know, like, as not teachers. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: and Yeah. j Yeah, JJ is is so dramatic and doesn't let anything go and worries so much about what everybody else is doing. doing. Yeah. so Well, Rachel and Brendan finish. The water. supply detour.
The Amazing Rewatch: After they had like a crash and some containers fell and Rachel tried to like catch them. she tried to like catch them and they cut her and she was bleeding and they dropped some water it didn't look like they had to go back and wait in line again and fill them up that could have been really bad, but. She's like...
The Amazing Rewatch: in pain and not. it sucks like says something to the camera like Rachel got a little bit. Like... Is bleeding a little bit. She's like, a little bit. A little bit. Like I don't even see any blood. You also need to relax. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: Everybody's just so dramatic. Um, So... Vanessa and Ralph. also finish the detour just before nary and jamie arrive and so nary and jamie are looking for the Hillary Clinton thing too. Right. And Brendan and and Rachel see them and kind of tell them where to go because.
The Amazing Rewatch: They... Well... No, Nary and Jamie... Had finished this. the detour at this point. Because Vanessa and Ralph had done the second. the other half of the detour.
The Amazing Rewatch: Nary and Jamie already done with their half of the detour. Or their first detour. Okay. Well, they're looking for the next clue and Brendan and Rachel tell them where to go. Yeah. Um,
The Amazing Rewatch: And so Vanessa and Ralph... like are finished and they get in a cab and vanessa says we have the best luck with cabs And they immediately get a flat tire. Yes. Our sister Georgie was sitting here watching this with us and she's like, don't say stuff like that. Don't ever say it out. Don't even put it in the universe. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: because of course she says that and they get a flat tire but the guy changes it quickly and they get back in the car and head out. Um... At the roadblock, Rachel did it, and she did it really quickly, and they are at team number four.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah. And then Vanessa and Ralph show up and Ralph does it. And they're a team. well They... They get to this. Art and Gem. place at the same time as nary and jamie Oh, yes. And Mary and Jamie are like, oh, my gosh, we're like still in this. But they still have to do their speed bump.
The Amazing Rewatch: yes And Vanessa and Ralph. you know, they're able to leave and Ralph does the roadblock and it's. And it's not that hard. And then the pit stops right there. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: So. They are team number five. yeah And... I thought it was funny. Like they're in the car, like Nary and Jamie finished the the speed bump, which is they have to. um They have to...
The Amazing Rewatch: put a display of art. up like according they have there's like this painting that shows them where to put everything and they just have to display some art Amen. they can leave. So it doesn't look like super hard. It probably takes a minute to like get everything right. And then on the, in the cab on the way there.
The Amazing Rewatch: Neri says, That speed pump just slowed us down. Mike. Yes. That is the whole point of the speed bump. That's what...
The Amazing Rewatch: In real life, speed bumps are fortunate.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yes, so... They and narrated the... does the roadblock and they are team number six and they are eliminated this time. Yes. so Yeah, they...
The Amazing Rewatch: Um... And I didn't look up any information about Tanzania this time because I talked all about it last time. So, yeah. But... I... think it was time for nary and jamie to go like i obviously want girl teams to continue and win but Like.
The Amazing Rewatch: Kind of like we said, they made it seem like them being Agents was gonna like make them these like unstoppable and they've been at the back the whole time Yeah. Well, okay. So yeah, I...
The Amazing Rewatch: It felt like that to me as well, but they actually did take fourth place in the first leg. um But I kind of feel like the first leg is not like a good indication. of Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: like how you're gonna do yeah and But then they took 6th, 5th, 5th, 7th, 5th, 6th, 6th, and their average was 5 .5. we're Right on track, really.
The Amazing Rewatch: Um, Because they were eliminated in sixth place. We're down to our top five teams now. With them being eliminated, there are no girl... Girl teams.
The Amazing Rewatch: left. they were the last one Um.
The Amazing Rewatch: So. Just like about this episode real quick. This roadblock was previously used as I... Detour choice in Season five.
The Amazing Rewatch: But nobody. attempted this task so season five was like That was... Chip and Kim. Not Kim. senator just Chip and Kim Is that her name? Chip and Kim. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: And. like this I think this was... the country that they were in when They almost got arrested because they weren't going to pay their cab driver. Oh. Yeah. So like Colin and Christy then. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: i think that sounds right Um. So, Nary and Jamie, they're... is not one stitch of post -race or trivia or anything they do have Facebook.
The Amazing Rewatch: um like social media links. Jamie has 19 posts and they are all like... almost the same picture of a baby.
The Amazing Rewatch: Okay. Um. But the last one was in like. Let's see the last post on. Instagram was 649 weeks ago.
The Amazing Rewatch: Oh. So that's like... 12 years. Wow. Yeah. and Is that right? and I don't know. It's a very long time. Um, And then... Facebook, she has more... current but it's mostly just like posting profile pictures.
The Amazing Rewatch: You know. Jamie. Jamie Gretz Nassaur has updated her profile picture. She has updated her profile picture. So, like, there's not actually, like, any... posts.
The Amazing Rewatch: for me to use. But it does look like she has. A kid or two.
The Amazing Rewatch: Okay. um And then. Neri, her last Facebook post was... In April 2012. Like basically when the. This episode aired.
The Amazing Rewatch: Like she has amazing race photos. Um. But that's it. pfft And hasn't posted since 2012. Okay. So I don't really know what they're up to.
The Amazing Rewatch: And I'm too tired right now to go look up any more information. So sorry, Nary and Jamie, if you're listening. You guys were great. We. Always root for...
The Amazing Rewatch: the female teams but Yeah. um Yeah, so now we're down to the top five. And so we have, let's see, Rachel and Dave married. Rachel and...
The Amazing Rewatch: Brendan. dating vanessa and ralph dating so we have three romantic couples and then two Male. friend teams. Left. Oh yeah. art and jj and mark and bopper yeah so there's probably gonna be like another non -elimination there's probably gonna be another u -turn the last episode is like a double episode so he's tech so this is leg eight so we still technically have nine ten eleven twelve we have four legs left Five teams, but...
The Amazing Rewatch: The last leg is... That's from top three. So yeah, there will be... One more non -elimination, I'm sure. And I. I know where we go next. It is a popular well visited one on the race.
The Amazing Rewatch: India? Yep. So we're headed to Asia. And we'll probably finish out.
The Amazing Rewatch: The race there. I don't know. Maybe, maybe you stop in Australia. On the way. Yeah. they I haven't looked at. Quite a few. the rest of the route. so Yeah, there's still like four legs left. yeah So.
The Amazing Rewatch: Okay. Well, this is kind of a quick episode, which is fine. I have a flight that leaves at seven o 'clock in the morning. Next. or tomorrow morning. These guys are continuing on their trip here in California and I am going.
The Amazing Rewatch: to fly to l LA and go on a cruise with my friends. in Southern California. So. I am. doing a little bit different itinerary than the rest of these guys but Yeah, it'll both be fun.
The Amazing Rewatch: Okay, well, thanks for listening. Come back for episode nine. Nein.
