So Tyler had a rough entrance into the world due to complications. Labor was induced a month early. Oh. And he weighed in at only three pounds, 10 ounces. So he spent the first three weeks of his life in an incubator in the NICU due to underdeveloped lungs.

Okay. He was not ready to evacuate his apartment. So it was also discovered that Tyler had a hormone imbalance and he was placed on treatment for that.

But not only could normal growth be affected by the imbalanced hormones, other symptoms could include weight gain, delayed puberty, depression, and behavioral problems.

And sure enough, Tyler was described as a sweet boy and polite, but withdrawn. He had bouts of depression, anxiety, and developed an eating disorder at a very young age. He just became obsessed with his weight.

um His mom and dad made sure Tyler got any and all of his medical and mental health needs met. good So this was a very involved family. This isn't one of the things where the family just closes a blind eye to what's going on. They were very involved in what was happening to him. Pearl!

When he was nine years old, a new family moved into the neighborhood who had a son named Michael, and Tyler and Michael became close friends who enjoyed playing together. But you know, One day, 10-year-old Michael went to meet up with Tyler, and he found Tyler in a tree tying a cord around his neck, telling Michael he was going to kill himself. Oh.

Now, 10 years old, okay? For obvious reasons, Michael was scared to death and didn't know what to do or say. But then Tyler just started laughing as he removed the cord around his neck, and they went on about their day.

oh So in his early teens, Tyler started sneaking alcohol, buying and selling marijuana and other drugs. He started vandalizing cars and stealing. And he was basically just fueled by whatever drugs that he were available to him.

And he just, he would begin having strange outbursts in school. He would laugh out loud to himself for no apparent reason. And in the middle of a class, he would start mooing like a cow. Just crazy, odd, strange behavior.

One day, Tyler and some of his friends... drug an old couch to a wildlife preserve, and they literally lit it on fire. Now, thank goodness someone saw the blaze and they called it in and they were it it was put out before it could spread.

Well, he's older now. He's not 10 anymore. mine um But in spite of their efforts, Tyler's behavior continued to decline. He was stealing money from his parents.

And finally, Mary Jo bought a cell phone just so she could track his whereabouts when he didn't come home. Literally. And one night he told his parents he was going to a movie and they actually tracked him down at a party where he was very intoxicated.

He started skipping school, and nothing that Blake and Mary Jo did to reign him in, nothing worked. In April 2011, Tyler was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and spent a week in jail and two more weeks on house arrest.

One day, sitting in his friend's house, smoking weed, he said he was going to kill his parents. Oh. But this wasn't taken seriously, as it was nothing for this group of teens to joke about doing horrific things which with each person trying to outdo the last person.

You know, like, one person says, oh, I'm going to kill my parents. the other one says, oh, I'm going to, you know, they're trying to one-up each other. needs new friends. But Tyler said it again and explained how he would catch them off guard.

And once they were dead, he would steal their money and throw a big house party. Oh. Okay. Blake and Mary Jo started to see a change in Tyler.

And Tyler says, nope. Well, they're leaving soon. Around 1 p.m., Tyler made a Facebook post saying, party at my crib tonight, maybe. is this Around 8.15 p.m., no one had showed up, so he made another Facebook post saying, party at my house, hit me up.

Someone named Ashley responded with, whoa, what? What if your parents come home? Tyler typed back, they won't, trust me. oh So kids started showing up at Tyler's house and a lot of them Tyler didn't even know.

It didn't take long for the party to get out of control. Beer cans were laying everywhere. Kids were putting cigarettes out on the floor, furniture, walls, alcohol spilled all over, broken glass on the floor.

and apparently Tyler was like behaving really strange. He was noted to be gazing off into nowhere and not socializing, just walking around drinking and doing drugs.

His behavior did not match the party's atmosphere at all. When mike young Mike Young showed up at the party, he said when Tyler opened the door, he was very fi fidgety and anxious, and it was very clear that he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. His pupils were huge, and he kept rubbing his hands together and clenching his fists.

And then some random kid yelled out, quote, oh, he killed his parents, unquote, and then busted out laughing.

I mean, they're joking. Like, honestly, just joking. Okay. oh Apparently, there was a beer pong table set up in the dining area, kind of the dining area next to the family's home computer desk, which they were actually using to play music.

And Mike said he was trying to play music and couldn't believe how nasty the computer area was. He said the keyboard was sticky and was covered in a brown liquid.

Oh, oh, we know what that is. Near the kitchen was the door to the master bedroom, which was closed and locked. Several kids tried unsuccessfully to open the door, but they did notice a strange, long, blackish streak going under the door from from that area. Well, we know what that is. We know what that is.

And I know where his parents are. By midnight, the party was really hopping with somewhere around 100 people going in and out. Holy. It was a freaking rager. Okay, I got to take a drink. I don't know that many people. um Well, I'm sure I do, but like, I wouldn't invite 100 people over. okay You get 20 people sitting around a bonfire.

Feels like way too people-y for me. Even 10 people. Yeah. Tyler asked his 21-year-old friend Mark to drive him down the road to get more beer. When Mark went in to get the beer, Tyler told the girl in the car that his dad died.

And he just randomly out of the blue came out and just said that. Oh, as Mark and his girlfriend are getting ready to leave, Tyler asked Mark if he could talk to him in private. So they went outside and Tyler said, quote, dude, I did something.

I might go to prison. I might go away for life. I don't know, dude. I'm freaking out right now. Unquote. Mark said, quote, what are you talking about? Tyler says, dude, I know you're not going to believe me. No one will believe me. I freaking killed somebody.

So Mark didn't want hear it. He didn't want any information. He didn't want no shit. On Tyler's way back into the house, he ran into a guy named Ricardo who thanked him for the beer and the party. Tyler's response was,

quote, I just wanted to do something fun before I left, unquote. Of course, this this kid asks, where are you going? And Tyler said, I'm going to kill myself.

Oh. And Ricardo said, you know, asked him why he'd want to do that. And Tyler said, because I did something really bad. And of course, the kid asks, what did you do? It can't be that bad. And Tyler said, don't worry, if I get caught, I'll be in jail for a long time, unquote.

Around 2 a.m., Tyler asked his closest friend, Michael, to walk outside with him. When they got outside, Tyler blurted out to him that he'd killed his parents. First reaction is disbelief. But Tyler says, Michael, I'm being real.

And this is quotes. Michael, I'm being real. I'm not lying to you. Look closely enough. You can see signs, unquote. And he pointed out that both of his parents' vehicles were still there.

Tyler took him into the garage and showed him a bloody shoe print on the floor. He then took um Michael into the house to the master bedroom and told Michael to keep looking for signs that everyone had missed. There was blood splatter on the ceiling, the walls, the door, and pooled blood at the baseboard.

When Michael looked inside, he noticed a big pile of stuff on the floor, which included chairs, a lamp, photos, cleaning stuff, blood-soaked towels, among other things. And then Michael... Nobody's seen this shit?

This is the locked master bedroom. Oh. And then Michael saw it sticking out from the bottom of the pile, a leg.

So Tyler tells Michael everything that he did that afternoon, and it goes something like this. Around 5 p.m., he hid both of his parents' cell phones so they couldn't call 911.

He amped himself up by taking three ecstasy pills and listening to music. He went into the garage and he grabbed his dad's claw hammer and went back in the house where his mom was using the family's home computer.

He stood behind her just staring at her for about five minutes until he brought the claw hammer down on her head. When she was hit, Mary Jo yelled out, why, Tyler, why?

Blake heard Mary Jo's screams and ran into the room. When his mind comprehended what his eyes were seeing, he also managed to say, why, Tyler?

It came out later that Tyler told another in inmate, quote, I knew they loved me because my dad didn't go after me. He just asked me why, unquote.

So back to it. Once Tyler felt that both of his parents were dead, he wrapped their heads in towels and drug them to the master bedroom, placing them face down next to each other and putting the claw hammer in between them.

And two officers showed up the house and Tyler had everyone hiding and being quiet, quiet. He answered the door. They informed Tyler that there'd been a noise complaint. Tyler apologized and said they would keep it down. And with that, the officers left.

Around 4 a.m., you know, with Tyler threatening the suicide thing or whatever, Michael had actually 10 Percocets from Tyler because that's what he was going to use to take his own life was Percocet.

So Michael hid them. At 4.40 a.m., Tyler made a Facebook post saying, quote, party at my house again, hit me up. But this party wouldn't take place because Michael had already called the Crime Stoppers hotline and told them everything.

Through the window, they could see Tyler pacing back and forth and talking to himself with ah just a really disturbed look on his face. His eyes were wide and he was not blinking. soon as they knocked on the door, the lights went out. Tyler opened the door and they asked if there were any adults there.
