Eden & Briana: has been sentenced to more than 31 years in prison after pleading guilty. to second degree murder in connection with the fatal poisoning. of her 18 month old daughter Amid. a custody battle.
Eden & Briana: But this isn't the only one. Let me go on to another. A 36 -year -old woman in Grant County, New Mexico, pleaded guilty to the fatal shooting of her 11 month old son.
Eden & Briana: She lost custody to the father, managed to kidnap the boy, and when the police caught up with her, She chose to murder the boy rather than turn him over to the father.
Eden & Briana: She told police that shooting her child was quote, worth it. unquote. and she did it to keep the child safe from his father and relatives. I'm sorry. If you lost custody, obviously he's trying to protect that child from - You.

Eden & Briana: So I thought this would actually be. a great time to revisit this case. Yeah. So. Krista was born March 10th, 1976 to Krista. in Emil Pike. Allegedly, Carissa continued to drink alcohol throughout the pregnancy. Does this ring a bell? because wasn't she a nurse?
Eden & Briana: ringing any bells And she continued to party and shit? Carissa and Emil's relationship was horrible. relatives reported Krista was very neglected and lived and crawled around a house littered with piles of dog shit.

Eden & Briana: In the third grade, Krista attempted suicide by overdosing on Tylenol. In the third freaking grade. That's sad. It's terrible. I got to turn my page. And how come, like, nobody... did Was CPS involved?
Eden & Briana: Okay. um Remember the years here. Now this is in. She was born in 76. So this is... Okay. So absolutely not. like like She literally.
Eden & Briana: Well, let me tell you more and then I'll tell you what happened in school. that it wasn't even caught by the this school. Okay. but I didn't write that because I wasn't going to go that deep, but I'll tell you about it later.
Eden & Briana: So anyway... Oh, got to turn my page. Didn't use my rocket book today because I was in the heat all weekend and I thought that it would all erase. so As a preteen, Krista was sexually assaulted by Claude Davis, who lived in the same trailer park.
Eden & Briana: Krista did tell her mom about the rape, but her mother did not believe her. Now this guy was charged. And did. Two years. prison. But mom still didn't believe her. I don't know why.

Eden & Briana: Something's freaking wrong here. Majorly. So at the age of 17, Krista was raped again, this time by a total stranger? She was on her way to the store and...
Eden & Briana: This person grabbed her and drug her into the woods, raped her. Krista fought like a little bear cat and escaped after hitting the assailant with a rock. A rape kit was collected at a nearby hospital, but the perpetrator was never caught.
Eden & Briana: Hmm. So... She'd been through hell and i'm I'm thinking trailer park and I'm i'm thinking okay poverty. Poverty bad part of town all the things So Krista's unstable home life caused frequent school changes, which affected her academic performance.
Eden & Briana: She frequently acted out, skipped school, ran away from home. All the things. why don't I kind of blame her for that. Well, I kind of think I don't either. But unfortunately,
Eden & Briana: it gets worse. Yeah. During the tenth grade, she was sent to a juvenile facility for a year. And while she was there, she actually learned about Job Corps. She completed her GED and wanted to train to be a nursing assistant.
Eden & Briana: So in late 1994, Krista attended Job Corps in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, How? However...
Eden & Briana: Mm hmm. The environment turned out to be quite unsafe. Students would carry around razor blades or box cutters to protect themselves as gangs were quite common.
Eden & Briana: During Krista's junior year, She began dating. to Daryl Shipp. You remember that name? Yep. yep Okay. He was obsessed with witchcraft and he taught Christa all about the occult and Satanism.
Eden & Briana: Tadaryl was abusive. and feared by others in the Job Corps program. He beat on Krista and forbade her from speaking to other boys. However,
Eden & Briana: To Daryl did have an affair with a girl named Colleen Slammer. which sent Krista into a jealous rage, believing that Colleen was trying to steal her boyfriend.

Eden & Briana: So on January 12, 1995... Krista, to Daryl, and a girl named Shadala. Peterson, I believe, her last name. and Colleen signed out of the Job Corps facility.
Eden & Briana: and they headed to the woods where Colleen was told that they wanted to make amends. and smoke some weed. This is how they lured this girl. Out. So upon arriving at a secluded location, Colleen was attacked by Tadaryl and Krista.
Eden & Briana: while Shadala acted as the lookout. for the next 30 minutes. Colleen was taunted. beaten and slashed.
Eden & Briana: Tadaryl carved a pentagram into her chest, and finally, Krista took a large chunk of asphalt and smashed in Colleen's head, killing her. If you think about it...
Eden & Briana: Like 30 minutes isn't that long. I bet it was a lifetime in that moment. But it was so long for Colleen. You damn right it was. I need to take a little sippy sip. You can keep talking. I mean, could you imagine going...
Eden & Briana: being slashed. for 30 minutes And then finally getting your head bashed in. with asphalt trunk. Good lord. No. and and the pentagram. I mean, she was alive. yeah She was alive for all of that. And it just makes me sick to my stomach.
Eden & Briana: um oh 30 freaking minutes.
Eden & Briana: Pretty sure we said that. i know Original too. Yeah. And. I think you'll remember this part when I say it. As a trophy, Krista kept a piece of Colleen's skull.
Eden & Briana: carrying it all around with her and showing it off in school. Remember in our first episode that we did on this? I think she even said something smart assy like. Oh, I'm eating lunch or eating breakfast with Colleen.
Eden & Briana: Because she had that piece of skull in her pocket. um Disgusting. Yeah. Within 36 hours, the three of them were arrested. Detectives found the fragment of Colleen's skull in Krista's jacket pocket.
Eden & Briana: Krista waved her Miranda w rights and confessed. about how she participated in Colleen's death. but she insisted they were only trying to scare Colleen and their plan got out of control.
Eden & Briana: Bullshit. Yep.
Eden & Briana: The three of them were charged, they were all charged with first -degree murder and conspiracy conspiracy. to commit first -degree murder. Todaro was sentenced to 25 years in October. 2025.
Eden & Briana: He was denied parole and remains incarcerated. Good. Yep. Shadala agreed to be a witness for the prosecution and received probation after pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact.
Eden & Briana: She didn't participate but she was there. Did she know that was their plan? I don't think she knew that was i mean i I think she knew something was... going to happen but i don't Maybe just like a beating. Yeah.
Eden & Briana: So. Krista was found very, very... years to... She does. probation oh provision yeah sorry Krista was found very, very guilty, and she was sentenced to death.
Eden & Briana: Okay. one should In 2014, Krista's lawyers entered an appeal to commute the death sentence to life in prison. This was denied.
Eden & Briana: In 2019, again, the death sentence was unanimously unanimously I cannot talk well today. That's okay. I can never talk. I spent. Two days on horse. i'm dying i haven't had a shower since friday I bet I smell great.
Eden & Briana: Anyway. In 2019, again, the death sentence was upheld. It was unanimously upheld. by a three judge panel. So.

Eden & Briana: Krista and another inmate were accused of attacking and attempting to strangle a fellow inmate with a shoestring. Krista was again convicted convicted of attempted first -degree murder and received another 25 years.
Eden & Briana: What a waste of court time. She's already sitting on death row, dude But anyway. In 2022, Krista had exhausted all of her appeals. Low key.
Eden & Briana: yeah If you... in jail for murder and you're on death row. And you're Date is sent. And you try to... commit another murder while incarcerated They should almost up.

Eden & Briana: When the state Supreme Court found the state's law for juveniles automatically sentenced to life in prison without... a chance at parole unconstitutional. Christa's lawyers used this ruling in an attempt to have her 1996 convict. conviction, and sentence thrown out.
Eden & Briana: In 2023, this was denied. The judge stating the 2022 Supreme Court ruling did not apply to her. Hmm. So on September 30th, 2025.
Eden & Briana: The Tennessee Supreme Court issued a death warrant for Krista. scheduling her execution to take place exactly one year later on September 30, 2026, which is coming up.
Eden & Briana: 23 days. Yep. Now she had a choice of electrocution or lethal injection. As her execution date is coming up, her legal team is seeking Clement. clemency.
Eden & Briana: arguing that she bears lifelong scars from quote. extraordinary childhood abuse. trauma. and neglect. If she is put to death, she will be the first woman in the state of Tennessee to be executed in more than 200 years.
Eden & Briana: The state of Tennessee has deemed Krista now 50. to be among the worst of the worst a cold -blooded murderer whose crime was so heinous that even being locked up until she dies of natural causes would be too lenient.
Eden & Briana: Oh. Yep. Governor Lee is now the only one who has the power. to commute Krista's death sentence to life without parole. How? Ever. However...
Eden & Briana: Oh, what did I say? Oh, however. Lee has never... granted clemency clemency in a death. case. He is zero for eight.
