Eden & Briana: bitches. Take 515. I was gonna say take 566. Okay. with that number.

Eden & Briana: Issues galore. Anyways. Introduction. Oh yeah. Okay. Yep. For the, you know, kind of forgot what we we're doing since we've done it so much here. Welcome to Miners Mayhem, where we dive into the disturbing stories of minors who commit murder. They choose to commit murder.

Eden & Briana: Unfortunately, every episode involves real victims and their families. Our hearts go out to them and everyone affected by these tragedies. That said, our focus remains on the minors themselves and the crimes that they committed.

Eden & Briana: And yes, they're horrific. Very horrific. So do you want to hear my true crime news for like the 567th time? Sure. least it's a funny one Yeah.

Eden & Briana: and Thank God. Yeah. So in true crime news, a Missouri man dove headfirst off of a bridge to avoid being arrested. Now, mind you, he was going 75 and a 45. So more than likely he was being pulled over for speeding. But instead, he chose to flee the officer.

Eden & Briana: And a little chase took place. And as the man drove across a bridge, he bailed out of his moving vehicle and dove off the bridge. Needless to say, he was arrested and charged with quite a bit more than just a speeding ticket.

Eden & Briana: Yep.

Eden & Briana: Play dumb games, win stupid prizes. Yup. play dumb games, win stupid stupid prizes. I like that. That's good. so i So since we've started over a million times, do you want to try to get to the case this time? Yeah.

Eden & Briana: Okay. Let's just jump right in because this is literally five. Yeah. So for this case, we're going to the year 2013 and we are going to Saginaw, Texas.

Eden & Briana: Now is there a Saginaw, Michigan? Or a Saginaw, is there another Saginaw somewhere? I don't know. Saginaw. Saginaw something.

Eden & Briana: Let me Google it. Saginaw? Yeah. Saginaw. Oops. Because every time I say Saginaw, Texas, my brain wants to say like Saginaw, Michigan. Saginaw, Michigan. Okay.

Eden & Briana: Okay. That's what my brain wants to say. And I'm trying to rewire it to say Saginaw, Texas. yep okay so fashion trends in 2013 were relatively boring so i didn't spend much time on that they basically revolved around 90s grunge that tracks does 90s grunge ever go away probably not no so saginaw is a suburb located it's about 10 miles north of downtown fort worth the population is roughly 24 000 residents

Eden & Briana: And it is said to have a family-friendly atmosphere.

Eden & Briana: It's not going to be so friendly now, is it? Nope. We're going to jump right in, too. So Alana. Alana. Alana. I'm going to say Alana. Anna. Anna. It could go either way.

Eden & Briana: Gallagher was born June 12, 2007, in Saginaw to mom Laura Gallagher, dad, Carl Gallagher and bonus dad, Miles McDaniel.

Eden & Briana: Yes, they are a polyamorous family. So meaning they're all three in a relationship together. But, um, I don't know when the bonus dad came along, if he was there when Alana was born or if he came into the picture later, I don't know, but I do know that he played a significant role in her family.

Eden & Briana: So there's one female and two males. Two males. Yes. So even though that information 100% irrelevant to this case, The social media, as one could figure, had a little bit of a heyday with it. Oh, I'm sure. Anything that's different, you know. So my my thought is, you know, how people live their lives and how they choose to find they're happy, it doesn't directly impact you or i And quite frankly, it's none of our damn business.

Eden & Briana: Nope. Agreed? Agreed. i Agreed. If you're nice to me, I'm going to be nice to you. I don't do a shit. So I really don't feel like we need to spend any more time talking about their lifestyle. Like I said, it's not relevant to this case.

Eden & Briana: And the more people that love your child, the better. Yep. Takes a village. So. Alana loved spending time outside. She was an outgoing, friendly little girl. So most people in the neighborhood knew her or knew of her. Like they could recognize her by face and say, oh, that's that Gallagher girl or whatever. Like everybody knew she was out and about.

Eden & Briana: She was an outgoing little turd.

Eden & Briana: So on July 1st, 2013, six-year-old Alana alna was last seen by her family between 2 and 2.30 p.m. She was off to play in her neighborhood like she did almost every day during the summertime.

Eden & Briana: and You know, a good neighborhood. I mean, I'd let my six-year-old go play.

Eden & Briana: However, when she hadn't returned home by 9 p.m. and you know. Yep. You said the family lost seeing her between 2 and 2.30? Yes. Okay. I thought something else, but never. Okay.

Eden & Briana: I'm an idiot. It's been a long day, and we haven't even gotten. yeah okay. So, however, when she hadn't returned home by 9 p.m., her family became quite concerned, as one would.

Eden & Briana: And they called the local police to report her missing. Okay. Now for my six year old, for me not to have contact with my six year old between the hours of two and 9 PM, might, I might get a little, so I don't know what the circumstances, maybe they went out and looked for her themselves.

Eden & Briana: And when they couldn't find her by 9 PM, they called the police. Yeah. We don't know. We don't know that it's probably documented somewhere, but it's irrelevant anyway. I mean,

Eden & Briana: She was reported missing. still happened. But... still happened. Mm-hmm.

Eden & Briana: Okay, yeah. They called the log. I lost my spot. Around 7 p.m., two hours before Alana was reported missing, A couple boys were walking along the road when they came across something wrapped up in a tarp.

Eden & Briana: Curiosity got the best of them and they saw something that will probably haunt them for the rest of their lives. Inside was the body of a small child, a little girl.

Eden & Briana: She was partially naked with plastic bags wrapped around her head, secured with duct tape around her neck. Her hands and feet were bound with duct tape and her body was inside a garbage bag and then the tarp thrown on it.

Eden & Briana: And the tarp was then secured with a leather belt.

Eden & Briana: Nope. We're done. Okay. Let's just pack it up then. all right. Goodbye. What did the boys do? What did the boys do? Call the damn police.

Eden & Briana: Good boys. Good job. Good job, boys. Good job, boys. So it, as you could figure, there's probably, it didn't, it just really didn't take long for police to tie the pieces together between the missing person and what the boys discovered.

Eden & Briana: Yeah. I would imagine six-year-old missing girls didn't happen very often. But that happened at seven o'clock and they called. No, they found the body at seven. Yeah. And they hadn't reported her missing until nine.

Eden & Briana: So... The police already were aware for two hours and then that missing. So it didn't, you see what I'm saying? Ooh. They were probably out looking for her and didn't report it to the police until they couldn't find her. Ooh.

Eden & Briana: And yeah. And they hadn't found out who she was yet. body had been turned but the parents hadn't reported her missing yet. And the police hadn't identified her. Had not figured out who she was yet.

Eden & Briana: Correct. Okay. Okay. a Yeah. The body was that of six-year-old Alana Gallagher. Her little body was bruised and battered.

Eden & Briana: She had been sexually assaulted. And her body and hair were still wet when she was found, along with water logging of her hands and feet, suggesting that her body had been submerged in water for an extended period of time before she was wrapped up in the garbage bag.

Eden & Briana: and stuff. So there's a lot of speculation about why the person did that. And I think like 90% of everybody decided maybe that person was trying to wash away any DNA that would be there.

Eden & Briana: I mean, but that's just entirely speculation.

Eden & Briana: Her official cause of death was ruled as suffocation. So she was conscious when she endured all the horrific things that were done to her. And if there's any light at the end of this horrific tunnel, it is that they were able to obtain DNA from the rape kit that was performed despite her body being submerged in water.

Eden & Briana: So thank you, science. We love you for that.

Eden & Briana: As with most investigations, they started from the closest to the victim and would expand from there. So by July 3rd, now this happened on the 1st, by July 3rd, the Gallagher family was completely ruled out.

Eden & Briana: And without really any leads, the FBI was called in to assist, but not much progress was really taking place.

Eden & Briana: A few weeks later, another crime against the Gallagher family took place. There was a little memorial, you know, with stuffed animals, the kind you see, by their house. And that memorial, along with one of their family vehicles, were set on fire in the middle of the night.

Eden & Briana: Also around this time, police caught a break.

Eden & Briana: Police caught a break when a caller recommended that they look into 17 year old Tyler Holder. So we're gonna take a minute to talk about Tyler.

Eden & Briana: Tyler grew up in Saginaw, Texas, not Michigan. He was described as being socially awkward. And just seemed to have a way about him that actually made people feel uncomfortable. Okay?

Eden & Briana: He was very much a loner who liked to make strange strange comments about rape and murder. If that just make your tummy go ick. If you hear something.

Eden & Briana: Right. Say something. We know. Now his classmates considered him a weirdo. And the standing joke amongst them was...

Eden & Briana: that if there was every mass shooting at their school, Tyler would be the one responsible.

Eden & Briana: So, yeah. Neighborhood parents even warned their children to stay clear of Tyler. Now, I was unable to find any childhood circumstances or living conditions, that kind of information, other than the fact that he lived only with his mom.

Eden & Briana: So a single parent family, my guess is mom was working her ass off to keep food on the table. And maybe Tyler didn't have a constant parental figure.

Eden & Briana: And I can tell by your face that you just looked up a picture of Alana.

Eden & Briana: Didn't you? Didn't you? Yes, ma'am. Okay. Put your phone down.

Eden & Briana: He looks like a grown-ass fucking adult. Right? Excuse my language, Brad. Sorry. Okay. So my guess is she was, like I said, working her ass off to put food on the table. Single parent. We all know how that can go, right?

Eden & Briana: So he he he was probably left on his own quite a bit. I mean, if she's busting her ass, right? You just have a look of disgust on your face. How many times have i told you not to look shit up when I'm telling a case?

Eden & Briana: I had to Now look at your face, though. I can't. There's not a mirror in there. ah Yeah. Okay.

Eden & Briana: So...

Eden & Briana: Again, that was just my guess, my opinion. I have no idea what the true circumstances were. So, you know, like I said, speculation. But single parenting is hard.

Eden & Briana: It's not for the faint of heart. So if she's out there just busting her ass, trying to make a living. And from what I understand, this kid wasn't a troublemaker. So like she didn't have any worries about going to work and putting in a how many hour hour shift that she had to put in because he wasn't out there getting in freaking trouble. Right.

Eden & Briana: disturbing yes was she aware that he i don't know that i'll tell you well no i'm not going to tell you why because that'll ruin everything i'll tell you why i don't know much after a while rote okay so anyway enough about tyler you get the picture right so we're going to go back to the case as per the caller remember i said they got a tip Tyler had been acting weird the night of the murder. He'd been seen pacing up and down the sidewalk in front of the Gallagher's house.

Eden & Briana: He had also told several different people that Alana was dead before her body had even been discovered. That was suspicion enough for investigators to obtain a search warrant for Tyler's home.

Eden & Briana: How did... He was pacing in front of their house? Did they not see him?

Eden & Briana: I have, well, obviously the caller saw him. I don't know if the Gallagher's did. i mean, they're, ah yeah. And that was the night of the murder, right? Did I say that? Yep. The night of the murder. You've been seen pacing up and down the sidewalk. and So who knows?

Eden & Briana: You know, maybe they were out still looking. i don't know. Okay. Keep going. Okay. I'm just trying to paint a picture and it's like, it's not a pretty picture.

Eden & Briana: And I dummied it down just for you because I didn't want you to hear all the details, but he... Never mind. Tell me later. i will. That was suspicion enough for investigators to obtain a search warrant. And along with the search warrant, they would also collect Tyler's DNA.

Eden & Briana: So many things were collected from Tyler's residence, including a purple and pink rich wristwatch, which purple happened to happened to be Alana's favorite color. Popo. Say it, Brianna. Popo.

Eden & Briana: Po-po-po. I like po-po. And also dog hair from Tyler's clothing. Everything was sent off to the FBI crime lab and within days the results were in. I don't know.

Eden & Briana: The dog hair taken from Tyler's clothing was very similar to a hair found on the tarp. The DNA from the belt and the rape kit were a match to 17-year-old Tyler Holder.

Eden & Briana: So a warrant was issued for his arrest. And when officers entered Tyler's home, he pulled a gun. And he actually started shooting, just open fire. And he did hit a detective in the groin before he was tackled to the ground by another one. But during that melee, the gun went off again.

Eden & Briana: This time, Tyler was hit somewhere in the head. Nope. He didn't get off easy, babe. yeah I saw that look. You're like, where's the justice in that? Nope. It was just a graze.

Eden & Briana: yes He lived. Good. So actually the detective that was hit, that man surviving is amazing because the bullet nicked a femoral artery.

Eden & Briana: oh I cannot believe that they, I don't know what they did or how fast they acted to get him care, but it must have been damn fast. Had it been. Yep. He survived.

Eden & Briana: And he returned to duty. Oh. Yep.

Eden & Briana: Okay, King, I see you. So the reason I don't know ah much about this is because in 2014, you know how we dig through court records? ah larry He took a plea deal.

Eden & Briana: Imagine that. So it didn't go to trial. in tay No, no, he just took a plea. He pled guilty to arson and he pled guilty to murder. And he will be behind bars for a minimum of 50 years before even being thought of. I bet he is just enjoying prison.

Eden & Briana: Mm-hmm. Now. Especially in Texas. Right? He probably has to be kept safe. Somehow. Without it.

Eden & Briana: Hope not. Oops. Did I say that out loud My bad. And I did go to church today, so shame on me. is probably the reason why I have to go to church. I gotta clean my soul.

Eden & Briana: So Tyler has never given an x explanation or a motive for killing six-year-old Alana Gallagher. So there are so, so many unanswered questions that I couldn't imagine. But Laura Gallagher did get the opportunity to make a statement about So I will read that for you. Oh, crap. Yeah, it kind of sucks. I hate, and I don't hate them. If my voice cracks, you know why. It's just hard to listen to.

Eden & Briana: But, again, the victims deserve. Yes. So, quote No matter how much suffering you undergo in a prison, it won't be as much as the people who knew and loved Alana will continue to suffer.

Eden & Briana: We have all suffered tremendously with our little without our little sunshine. Never again will I open the door and walk into my home to hear her voice chiming out, Mama, as she runs towards me with her arms open.

Eden & Briana: Our house is emptier and quieter and sadder. We carry around the heavy, hard stone of pain where our hearts used to be, and it's your fault. unquote damn so so I did take out a lot of it because because but I will tell you that Tyler lured her to his home how I don't know okay well they knew of each other from being in the neighborhood so I am sure that it wasn't hard right

Eden & Briana: She's an outgoing, trusting little six-year-old who has never been harmed a day in her life.

Eden & Briana: So she probably, you know, yeah. And so all the things took place at that home.

Eden & Briana: But we're not, yeah. Did his mom have anything to say? Nope. If she did, it's not public record. I doubt it. I doubt she got to say anything really because if he took a plea deal the only the only person that would be able to you know the impact statement would be the victims right?

Eden & Briana: Yeah. Yeah I don't know. I'm not sure about that.

Eden & Briana: So shit where'd my other page go?

Eden & Briana: So any thoughts, questions, concerns? What is it?

Eden & Briana: Because we'll never know the why. That little son of a bitch ain't talking.

Eden & Briana: And this has been, what, 13 years ago? It's been 13 years and he hasn't said nothing yet. Or if he has, it's not publicized.

Eden & Briana: So we will probably never have answers on this one.

Eden & Briana: That's gross.

Eden & Briana: Well, considering the day that we've had today, i think that's a wrap for this episode. If you enjoyed it, please go drop us a decent rate and review. you want to get in touch, you can email us at minorsofmayhem at gmail.com or shoot us a message on Facebook.
