Hello and welcome to the Daily Chelsea brought to you by the Global Sports Podcast Network. I'm your host Matt Blagden and I'm joined today for this forecast Friday extravaganza with the non one and only it is the jolly the happy the stupendous Jake Chandler. How you doing Jake?
00:00:29
Jake
Hey man, how you doing? Yeah, i'm not too bad. Looking forward to hopefully, hopefully another Chelsea win on the weekend and a little nice Christmas before we play again on Boxing Day.
00:00:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, yeah.
00:00:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, absolutely. I think that's that's really on every Chelsea fans wish list to Santa this year. A big win against Everton because that really would be something quite monumental, I think, for us as a club based on the history in the recent years and what's happening this season.
00:00:45
Jake
Yes.
00:00:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
of that to come and some more chats on some transfer issues or not issues, but news. Just because January is around the corner the You know sort of the transfer open a window does open for a month very very shortly and being the Chelsea at the club that Chelsea is you better Bet anything and everything that we're gonna be active in that window But isn't that right Jake yeah absolutely but before we get there Jake obviously last night we had a brilliant win against Shamrock Rovers 5-1 great win with a a much changed side as we expected to you know rotate the squad keep other players happy that aren't getting the prem games or the prem minutes like they would like to
00:01:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, there's a ah lot lot of top, top performances, probably most notably from Mark Grie, but especially, I think, Jake 2, Achanpong and George are right back and left winger for the game. You know, Academy products, they have risen through the ranks, they have now got first team contracts and they are part of the first team dressing room.
00:02:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's just start with those, Jake. What do you think about that for us going ahead and you know sort of do you think that's well deserved?
00:02:08
Jake
and Firstly, yeah, and I think it's probably well deserved. I mean, I don't, ah I'm not going to say I'd watch every single Academy game and such and such. I don't think anyone can say that for a die hard. But definitely when he's when he's had these sort of first team appearances, these cameos, Bo Fachimpong and Tyrik George have been pretty good. I think they've sort of, they've shown maturity when they played for us.
00:02:28
Jake
But I think the other important thing not just not just for for Chelsea fans to see but also obviously younger players in our academy to see is that there is a pathway and I think it was quite nice the way that Chelsea you know presented that you know that little video and you know Tariq and actually probably both they're both welcomed in sort of like a small little ceremony sort of thing which is really nice.
00:02:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:02:47
Jake
but it shows there is a pathway for these young players and you know especially on the Ashenpong new contract as well, Mariska said you know he spoke to him, i told he I said you will have minutes in my team that's what got him to sign. and So I think it's a bit more than just you know these couple of talented players coming through, it's the first time we're sort of seeing a big promotion in the in the right way and if you if you get what I mean like it like the proper way to see you players come up to our team and that sort of thing like for me last season I don't really remember too much of happening with sort of girl christ in the same sort of way I think it was brought in you had an injury um my pot and nothing more was said but this looks like a proper pathway for players now and I think that's really important
00:03:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:03:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:03:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely, Jake. It is quite interesting actually on that, just with Ashifong being given that asset. He's a right back, so he's kind of been promoted to the first team, but then Gilchrist, he played a lot of the games that he played at right back last season. So I wonder whether there's going to be you a lot of competition in that right back space to try and get minutes.
00:03:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
you know Obviously, Gusto is probably our first choice at the moment as Reece James is out injured, maybe we'll just have four right backs ready to go next season. Who knows?
00:03:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
you know
00:03:57
Jake
but of everyone else so why not
00:04:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly, exactly, yeah. Just with Jamrock Rovers, Jake, I guess, you know, sort of a little bit surprising to concede to such a side and a bit disappointed to do that. But Mark Wie, you got a hat trick. What did you make of his performance? And do you think he is, you know, deserving of a few more minutes than what he's getting?
00:04:21
Jake
i think it's hard to say if someone's a bit more deserving of minutes they should be getting because of the state of the squad and obviously i think obviously nicholas jackson's doing well and if someone else is going to step in the strike spot he's probably in cuckoo and then obviously then you've got is it gaeyou do you say gaeyou gaeyou i go gwee oh let's just take gwee for this podcast but the commentator said it about three different times last night and i think
00:04:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
would I would say gwee. Yeah, that's, that's not right.
00:04:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah.
00:04:47
Jake
and But yeah, and Mark, let's just say Mark. yeah he's he's he's shown He's definitely showing quite good quality and I think it's again sort of proven that these scout that the scouts who got do sort of know what they're doing.
00:04:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mark. Yeah.
00:04:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:04:59
Jake
It's about the adaptation to first-team football. And I don't think and i think the adaptation that Maresco is giving Mark at the moment is is quite good. you know He's playing in European games against proper opposition, but building confidence through that. like and he and And also as well, he's now the top scorer in the conference league itself. and he's He's definitely showing quality. think it's just it's hard to say if someone should deserve minutes or not because Our first team is doing so well at the moment.
00:05:27
Jake
That's so hard to crack at the moment. But it's very nice to have and a player of that quality you know just sitting below decks.
00:05:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:05:35
Jake
you know I mean, you know being able to pull that card if we get a few injuries is going to be quite nice.
00:05:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, absolutely. And we do have to remember, he's only 18. As young as our squad is, he is still incredibly young. know That's that where a lot of people start university. They don't necessarily start against Shamrock Rovers.
00:05:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
But yeah, another two players on the score sheet were Drusby Hall, took his goal nicely. But I think, know, Kukarella, is he a a number 10? Is he a number nine in disguise? Because he took his goal emphatically well. you think we'll miss Kukarella's, I guess, shooting boots against Everton this weekend?
00:05:52
Jake
Yeah.
00:06:14
Jake
I think, not necessarily shooting boots, but I think we'll definitely miss his quality. is its Obviously, that's the reason why he played on Thursday. and it's you know He's been playing you know much tougher opposition week in and week out recently, so he probably
00:06:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:06:28
Jake
It was nice to see him, you know, give all the effort that he that he should have done in sort of shows where the sort of the mentality of the squad is at the moment, which was really good to see. But yeah, in terms turns of when it comes against Everton, Kookarela seems to be the best that we've got in terms of this, you know, fall back into midfield number 10 role, whichever they whichever position they get to do.
00:06:49
Jake
Carrillo seems to be by far the one excelling in that position. So 100% I think will miss having someone to do that because I think it specifically against Everton in terms of breaking Everton down, I think having a player like that is going to be really important.
00:07:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's true. I think we are going to have to use, like as Maruska has tinkered with the squad many, many times throughout the season against the different operation ah ah opposition, I think he's going to have to do something maybe a bit new against Everton, as they are quite a physical, rough and ready side. quick note on maybe a surprise shout-out to the the starting lineup with Madawake. Obviously, he grave a great assist to to Gui ah his crossing. He probably needs to step up on that and and keep doing that because it's working.
00:07:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you think that means that we don't see Madaweke start against Everton and it's definitely going to be Neto?
00:07:37
Jake
Uh, yeah, I think, I mean, I don't think we've seen a player play both the midweek and then the the weekend game just yet. So I think that's quite a fair assumption. in my opinion, it might not, it might be the wrong way to go. I don't know. I think for me, I think we're going to have to be very,
00:07:52
Jake
It'll either be we'll have to be very direct against Everton or we'll have to be really, really patient. And I think probably the way to go with considering how what happened last week of Arsenal in Everton, I think being patient is not the way to go.
00:07:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
you
00:08:05
Jake
I think we should probably be trying to try and be quite direct. The amount of passes Arsenal had in the final third, but that didn't lead to a full pass. I can't remember this that exactly, but it was absolutely crazy.
00:08:15
Jake
We can't do that. We can't do that, especially away at Everton, because it's not as if we'll be hunting for a draw or we could be going for the loss there. yeah' it's going to be incredibly important incredibly important
00:08:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, interesting. Absolutely. We'll discuss more of that and other bits after this break.
00:08:47
Jake
it's going to be incredibly important.
00:09:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome back, it's Jake and Matt discussing all things ahead of the Everton game this weekend. Jake, Everton has always been quite a tricky game for us, especially at Gooderson, because in our last six games against Gooderson, we've lost five and won one. And in those six games, we've we've only scored two goals.
00:09:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it is definitely a bit of a bogie ground, almost a bit like Old Trafford for us. Last season we did lose 2-0 at Giddesund, but then we did win 6-0 at The Bridge. So there is a bit of kind of tossing and turning between, you know, sort of where the game is played. I do think this is a huge game, Jake, because of the recent history. And if we do win, we actually do go top of the table, albeit maybe for a couple of hours ahead of the Liverpool game against Spurs.
00:10:07
Jake
Yeah.
00:10:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
But that is almost like a crazy thing for Chelsea fans to say. I mean, it's been years before we can even think about being top of the table. So exciting, almost nerve wracking. With this game, know, sort of how do you expect it to pan out? And Palmer gave Braithwaite quite a good rinsing at the bridge earlier this year. Do you think we can expect the same thing at Goodson?
00:10:32
Jake
To be honest, i think it it i mean we we're all aware it's going to be a tough game anyway. I think it's going to try our patience the most than any other Mariska game has done so far. He will want to keep possession and you know we're a team that although we do like to attack, we do wait for our opportunities to get them to play those passes, take those shots those opportunities against Everton anyway, but Attenborough and Park are going to be very few and far between. and consider can just going What I was just thinking about actually was in terms of what we just said about Matt Awake, I think actually maybe Neto may be the one who's chosen because he's the better finisher.
00:11:10
Jake
And I think the finishing in this game is going to be so, so key. we It would not shock me. if It would not shock me if we had under five shots on target in all honesty, and this ended up as a one or two nil.
00:11:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow. okay
00:11:21
Jake
It just, if you look, at if you look at the stats in terms of like, just the amount of blocks Everton make, like the amount of block shots that they, they, they produce always top for corners, always top for throw-ins, because they constantly push the ball out to those side areas of the pitch, their final third.
00:11:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:11:34
Jake
And Daisha said this in interviews. The final, his final third of the, ah ah his first third of the pitch is the most important to him more than anything else because that's where you can win a loser game. That's what he said. And he, they will be very much looking to just not lose this one. And if they can do what they've been sort of doing successfully this season, which is sort of defending well and stopping our shots coming in, then they are probably looking good for a result and it's going to be down to us to break that.
00:12:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely Jake. I ah ah totally agree with that. I guess in which case do we need to take, you know, similar tactics that we showed against Brentford in terms of we expected them to operate with the low block. And so we peppered them with crosses instead of having about 26 shots in total, about eight on target. Do you think that's the route Maruska is going to go down then?
00:12:21
Jake
but Possibly in terms of like, yeah, pelting the box. I think i did that did sort of work against Brentford because they were tired out. And I think their tired their sort of tiredness and their lapsing concentration is what led to our first goal. Everton, though, I don't think will be exactly the same. I think we also have to remember that Everton have got a fair bit more height than what Brentford did. And we are not, although we're not a short side anymore, we're usually quite a small side, especially under Pochettino, to be honest, who's constantly fielding shorter players.
00:12:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:12:48
Jake
we are not the taller side in the league and if we do constantly pepper the ball with crosses what is unlikely to happen is where Brentford were obviously just smacking it back out and then we were just returning it. Everton have the quality and the players to be honest in those sort of scenarios to just have players control the ball off of big crosses and they will probably keep the ball themselves. The pressing is also going to be incredibly key but in in this in the same effect, Everton are also a decent counter-attacking side. So if we press too hard, you know, it's going to be it's goingnna be so much of this game is going to be on Maresca to get right, tactically, I think.
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, absolutely. I guess on this as well, do you think, you know, form in the season plays a part in this that much? Because, you know, Chelsea, we're currently, at albeit we played a game more than Liverpool, but we are top off the table in terms of away games. and we played six, we've won six, drawn one and lost one.
00:13:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
And, you know, Everton's home form, that was the table, they'd currently sit in 15th. They've won two, drawn three and lost two. It's a pretty average. And if we remember at the start of the season, they did blow like a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth when they came back 3-2 in the last minutes.
00:13:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, Efton definitely have a susceptibility to, you know, sort of concede easy goals. Do you think that will be Mareska's sort of main motivation that, you know, we've won we've had such a great road on the record and that we can bank on that happening again?
00:14:13
Jake
Uh, to be honest, I think from what we heard from rescue today in a press conference, he was, he was not aware of even our bad form at Goodison park as well. I think those sort of things don't really come into it from a rescue at all. think there's obviously going to be a bit of ah a a human mentality coming into it because no one wants to go away.
00:14:28
Jake
Not having that win before Christmas as well. And obviously they didn't know the pressures on because we'll need to have that result against film on boxing day.
00:14:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Hmm.
00:14:35
Jake
Um, yeah, I think it's what, what? I mean, I'll throw the question back to you. What what do you what do you think this game will ride up upon? what do you what do you fit what you think What do you think will be the moment that that changes this game? Because that's i think I think that's really what it's going to come down to is a moment. I think it will come down to a moment in the game. Someone's lapsing concentration. And instantly, my head thinks Sanchez is making a mistake. But that's what I think is going to happen. I think this will be a game that rides on a singular moment that changes it and it gets the result of someone.
00:15:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I know what you mean. I can see it being quite a cagey game and then being a bit of a 1-0 either way. And Sanchez definitely could scupper something up. but But I would just say like because of our ah ah waveform just being so strong, i i if if it was going to be a moment game, I would definitely back Palmer to get that that winner that is, whether that's from you know some neat play with Sanchez and just getting a yard of space and curling it into the top corner.
00:15:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
having a one-two with jackson like he did at the bridge earlier in the year even if it's just netto you know cutting it back to to xiao felix like he did against wolves i can see sort of see that one amazing moment happen uh for us but yeah as in i guess we're getting into predictions now and sort of i think for me
00:15:39
Jake
Thank you.
00:15:46
Jake
Yeah.
00:15:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh, actually sort of let's go to lineups just quickly just because there are some really key notes on this obviously No, no, no, no, no.
00:15:57
Jake
I'm proneness.
00:16:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's fine. J. It's fine. We're getting there. We're getting there. obviously kookarela is suspended. That's pretty gutting um, but in terms of like in and mudrick's being sort of investigated for the whole um substance stuff Uh, we knew ruse james was going to be out and for fun is going to be out But annoyingly, now Badia Shile and Lavia, Maurice has come out and said that they're going to be out for a while. Now, that's really vague, whether that's till like the end of January or longer. We don't really know. But that is really, really frustrating. Yeah. Do you think sort of and sort of I actually think like losing both Lavia and Badia Shile for this game will be really crucial. How do you think we're going to line up for this, Jake?
00:16:42
Jake
It's quite tough because we're now we're now sort of down to, because because we've had midweek football, we are down to a certain selection of players if Mareska sticks with obviously not using two players in the same, you know, two players twice in the same game week.
00:16:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:55
Jake
and
00:16:59
Jake
For me, I don't know if we need height or if we need technical ability. If we need height and if we need strength, if I would play Dazaz in all honesty. I know he's a bit error-prone and such, but he does have the strength to muscle people off the ball. like I don't think I've seen him muscle off the ball once. He reminds me bit of Rudiger in that sort of sense.
00:17:14
Jake
and he's also got a bit of height to him as well. So, I could see Dzazzi starting. and It was quite bad to lose Lavier, I would say, to definitely not have him for this game, because he he the strength that he has in midfield, I think that's the only thing that Casado lacks, is that he can be pushed off the ball by certain players.
00:17:29
Jake
And I don't mean, like, loads of players in the league, but certainly players who play for Everton, you know what I mean?
00:17:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:43
Jake
For me, I think it'll be Dazazi starting at that center back. In full back, I ah don't know if it's, we have Gusto available and we have.
00:17:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
We do. Yeah.
00:17:53
Jake
I think to be honest, even though, yeah to you know, we we were discussing this earlier in the week, man, I think I would play Vega, to be honest. I think Vega has shown he can do that sort of inverted role if he has to, although that's more likely to go to gusto.
00:18:05
Jake
But again, for the height and strength, I think Vega has to be starting there. And then obviously, I think, I think it will be casino midfield again, similar to how we set up against Brentford, sort of, casino Enzo, our sort of the pivot, but really Enzo is much further forward because we're going to overload the attack.
00:18:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:18:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:18:21
Jake
and And then, yeah, I see Sancho, Neto, Parma, and Jackson. I think that's that's the only way to go in the attack, really. I can't see much differentiation there. would be nice to see Achinpong and Tyree George on the bench, though.
00:18:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I agree. Um, think this is a maybe not a, you know, criticize them, but I think it's maybe potentially with the crowd and, you know, sort of obviously have to have now just got new owners or is it like, that's going to change over.
00:18:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
So their atmosphere is definitely going to be bouncing and i'm on the up and they definitely hate Chelsea.
00:18:47
Jake
you i
00:18:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So they're going to want to win, you know, yeah, I don't know.
00:18:58
Jake
very No, I thought they loved us up in Liverpool.
00:18:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
What was that? I know, exactly, I know. you're just talking to some really nice fans up there, Jake, you know.
00:19:05
Jake
yeah
00:19:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I don't doubt George and Ash and Palm's professionalism, but I do think that atmosphere will just be pretty, pretty hostile for us. actually totally agree with you in terms of the lineup, just because the sussies, are you know, sort of...
00:19:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think he's got a little bit more all-round ability compared to Tocin, and I think we'll need that against Everton. I'm not sure exactly who would actually invert, though, it would be Vega or Gusto, or maybe they would be a bit flexible with that, depending on, you know, sort of the transition in play.
00:19:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
But yeah, I mean, interesting to see that Vega did play centre-back against Shamrock Grovers, so he could could go into that and could be part of a strong three centre-back.
00:19:44
Jake
and
00:19:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
at the back. Jake, just on that then, so do you think it's going to be 1-0? Like you said, it could be a moment game, or do you think there's going to be more goals in it?
00:19:54
Jake
and I actually think it will be 1-0. I think it's going to be 1-0 to Everton. I think we're going to lose it.
00:20:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
i worry No No!
00:20:01
Jake
Yeah, I just... i don't I don't have a specific reason for this game, as in specifically this game being the one where we drop a little bit. I just think...
00:20:13
Jake
I just think that we've had a fixture pile up from two weeks ish now that started to take a bit of an effect on a squad in terms of injuries. We have a suspension we didn't need for this. And it's a away at Everton. For me, it just feels like too many small things building up to for us to go there and get a win. And also obviously we know we're playing before Liverpool they're going up there with a bit of extra pressure and in fact like yes we're saying we're not in a title race for whatever but they're going up there knowing they can go top for at least two hours on Sunday and that's more pressure that's a lot more pressure and and and pressure changes mentality in a way that Maresco won't be able to won't be able to handle like it just as in like he's not able to
00:20:50
Jake
fully change the mentality of 11 players. There are players in that team who are good enough who know they want to go for a title, even though the manager is not saying it. I personally think Cole Balmer is one of those. I think Cole Balmer has come to this game trying to score goals and take us to a win.
00:21:03
Jake
yeah which may go against what Marissa's tactics are. And to be honest, yeah, I think Everton, I see a goal coming from Everton. It'll be from some sort of set piece corner.
00:21:15
Jake
There'll be a slight mistake from Chelsea, but it'll be just enough to give Everton a shot on target where they'll get a little goal or something like that. And I just just think in this game, it may be too much to break them down.
00:21:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm. Hmm.
00:21:25
Jake
It may just be a little bit too much to break them down. with the fixtures we've got coming and the fact that the players are also going into this knowing they're traveling up to Liverpool, coming coming back home for Christmas and then playing on Boxing Day as well. it's just I think it's there's a lot of reasons why results get a bit funny around this time as well. for most teams, yeah, in all honesty, I think we will go out there and lose 1-0. A great good performance, I think, but I think we'll lose 1-0.
00:21:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, fair enough. Yeah, I can see that happening for sure. I'm going to be slightly more optimistic and I'm going to say we're going to win 2-1, but it's going to go in terms of, I think it will be a bit of a silly mistake that we go 1-0 down and then it will be a long, you know, sort of hard fought for us mostly. They're trying to counter attack to try and get another goal, but we hold out. And then in the last, you know, 10 minutes plus additional time, we actually do get an equalizer and then we get a quick winner.

But no one else other than Cole Palmer. I'm gonna back that to one win. Hopefully and we can dream at least we can dream anyway other dreams so after this break
00:22:18
Jake
Hey.
00:22:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome back. So Jake, January is around the corner, you know very, very close um we've got Christmas coming up. Then it's into the almost strange period in between Christmas day and New Year's. And then we're into January. Everyone's back at work and we're into the transfer season a month at least. so And that is sometimes really exciting. for and But I think most teams will be active in the market for very different reasons.
00:23:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
And you bet it with Chelsea, we're always doing something in the transfer market, even when we may have a settled squad.
00:23:28
Jake
Hmm.
00:23:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
So the latest reports, Jake, is that, you know, Carney, Truccomena, probably the the most high level, you know, sort of transfer out. Chelsea's saying that will accept bids for about $40 to $45 million for him.
00:23:37
Jake
Hmm.
00:23:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
sort of writing us on the wall for him to kind of go. Same with Chillwell, not really sure about the pricing on that. And also Jewsbury Hall, rumors that he might go back to Leicester on loan for the rest of the season just to keep himself fit, get more game time. Almost done an amazing situation for him, going back to the club where he's absolutely loved is going to start, but now he's on higher wages. It's almost a win-win for him. Out of those three, Jake, you think, you know, that's a good call from Chelsea to to send those out and sell at least two of those?
00:24:09
Jake
Yeah, I think the two names we're mentioning of of selling Chucky and... Who else did we say? Sorry. Chillwell, yes. and I think they have to go. Chillwell, I think that, you know, for different reasons, I think Chillwell just doesn't have enough quality to be in our squad anymore. It's not as if he was just dropped out of the squad completely like he was by Maresco, but he was sort of being phased out last season as well. And that I think that was because he just didn't have the quality to be on our team.
00:24:39
Jake
And in all honesty, there's another club that can definitely use a venture. Well, he's not a bad player at all. And he's a very solid fullback. I just don't think he's a fullback for us anymore. And he's very, for me, he's sort of like an old fashioned fullback as well. And I think that would work really well. i Even for maybe there's a bigger team out there that could probably happen. Like, I think like Villa used quite classic fullbacks. I think they could use maybe more depth there as well.
00:25:00
Jake
And Carney, the reason is that I think he's got too much quality to be sitting where he is in our squad at the moment. he It's a shame because when he has played for us, he has shown really good moments of quality. Everyone remembers that goal before he got injured as well. Lovely twist and turn and then finishing the near post.
00:25:16
Jake
like He is a good player and there is a reason we signed him and I think we got quite a good deal in terms of 20 million for signing him. If we can make a bit of profit on that, like he's not on extreme wages either, only bump him to market slightly from video, I think it's 70 or 80 he's on.
00:25:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:25:29
Jake
So he he won't be hard to sell and he will 100% improve at least the club who's in the bottom 10, probably a couple of clubs above that as well. Weirdly, I was speaking with my friend about this, I can see Carnegie maybe going to Tottenham.
00:25:42
Jake
I can see Tottenham coming in for him.
00:25:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Really?
00:25:44
Jake
Yeah, I could see, yeah even though it would be, you know, I don't, for for Chelsea fans and us fans, you know, it's not really going to be a massive issue because he's not really played for us too much if he goes to Tottenham. So I don't think there's anything too much there. And i I think there's a sort of player that I can see and signing if he's there.
00:25:58
Jake
Plus for Carney, he'd want to stay in London, obviously, and stuff like that.
00:26:00
Jake
Like I can, I can sort of see that happening.
00:26:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, true.
00:26:03
Jake
And and then of course, the third player we were speaking about who was from Armageddon tonight.
00:26:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Truth be all.
00:26:08
Jake
Dewsbury Hall, yeah. Dewsbury Hall, I think, is a similar situation. I think he's a quality player. I think we signed him to sort of be that squad player that we thought Connor might be, but I think Vega's done well enough and I think other players have shown their quality well enough that that position wasn't really needed as much anymore. And so, yeah, Dewsbury Hall, would like I would much rather send him on loan than sell him. 100% much rather send him on loan. But he definitely needs a minute. He's a good young player. He needs a minute.
00:26:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, fair enough. Yeah, totally agree with that as well, Jake. I guess something wouldn't quite sit right with me if Carney did go to Spurs, but, you know, the game's the game. And, know, I guess he's just resigning to the fact he's never going to win a trophy.
00:26:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
who with There has been reports as well that Gui, Mark Gui might go on loan to Sevilla for the rest of the season. Apparently Joe calls calling him the next Luis Suarez which I think is kind of unnecessary pressure to put on him because there's a long jump to there.
00:27:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Although, Maruska has said he wants ah Mark Gui, Aginpong and George to stay with Josie for the rest of the season, to learn the Josie style and get you know familiar with it. you think that's you know the right decision for Maruska to keep those three in and amongst the squads, or would they actually benefit from you know six months of regular game time?
00:27:29
Jake
I think it's different. ah ah To be honest, I think for Tyreke and Nachibana, I think they should stay in the squad. I think because they've come through the academy and they're now very much gaining that experience of coming up to the first team, I think it's a very different experience for them. But also because Mark is a striker.
00:27:44
Jake
I have always had the opinion that I think strikers need more first team minutes than anyone else in a team, because with strikers, it's so, I think Kye Hevers was like probably the perfect example for us.
00:27:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm.
00:27:55
Jake
Confidence makes a striker, like all of them can finish, all of them can get in those positions, but it's all about the mentality for them. And I think if Mark was to go on a good loan and score 10, maybe 15 goals in the second half of the season, that would do more for him than being around our squad.
00:28:10
Jake
I don't think being a striker in our squad means you have to learn the entire system and be there and learn every single in and out as much as Mariska might want that. I think just the benefit of him going somewhere and scoring a few goals rather than possibly popping in and out of our for our first team, possibly we're saying as well that he might not even be able to get minutes in in our first team, I think would do better for Mark.
00:28:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:28:30
Jake
But for Tyree, Canach, and Pong, 100% I think they should be staying in the squad.
00:28:35
