Today, I am joined by Yasha, I feel like, I i hope I said your name correctly, ah from the Daily Charity Podcast, as we have got them in the cup at the Amex on Saturday. Yasha, how are you doing, mate?
Cup Match vs League Games: Priorities and Significance
00:00:39
Speaker
Yeah. um Obviously, last time we played you, I think it was 5-2, wasn't it? I believe, yeah, it was 5-2. Not a great game. It definitely could have been more. Cole Palmer, Taurus Park. But, you know, the Cup, anything can happen, basically. It's essentially, I mean, it's probably, I don't know about how you feel, but it's probably a bit of a bigger deal for us because we'd love a Cup run. Whereas you've got the Conference League,
00:01:09
Speaker
Champions League, trying to get into the Champions League as well um and whatnot. So um obviously it would be pretty decent if we win it. But I imagine that the league game might be a tiny bit more important um the following week. I don't know how how you feel about that. But I imagine, I mean, obviously you'd like to win the cup as well. But, you know, I mean, you have you have enough teams basically to to be able to a compete on all fronts anyway.
Brighton's Season Performance: A Strong Start, Then Struggles
00:01:35
Speaker
So um But yeah, how has your how's the season been for you so far? how' did you How are you finding it? Because I know that you started off really well, and then you you were sort of almost in the title race for a little bit, and then you sort of dropped off from there.
Team Play Style and Performance Variations
00:03:49
Speaker
Too many draws. We've only won twice in the last 14 maybe, or fifteen like 15. Yeah, it's bad.
00:04:14
Speaker
Yeah, loads of people don't really like coming there, to be fair. Especially more... I feel like i'm more so in the deserby days, I feel like teams i didn't like coming there at all, just because his style of play, when he was there, was very... He basically didn't care who who turned up.
00:04:35
Speaker
He was just going to do his own thing, basically, and like to show absolutely in no respect to whoever. And like my main struggle, they struggle against everyone at the moment, but like they struggled, they struggled loads against us because of the way that we play footy. They're so easy to play through. Like they struggle so much. um Even Arsenal sort of, I mean, they've beaten us a couple of times, but they still struggle with how much we don't really care about how how good they are as a team. It's more just like, well, we're just going to play how we want to play. And then, no, they drew both games. so That was the game when they got Declan Rice sent off the first one at Emirates. And then they went and won it up in the ah at the Amex, and then we got a dodgy penalty.
00:05:25
Speaker
um But we we probably could have beaten about theirs, to be fair, but we missed a couple of good chances. um But yeah, um so in terms of like the following seasons for you guys, like for Chelsea, where where do you see, cause you still have a ton of players um and, but you have really, really good
Chelsea's Future: Young Talents and Loaned Players
00:05:47
Speaker
players in there. Like let's not, let's not sort of get it twisted. There is so much talent sort of dotted all around the squad from sort of like, obviously your Cole Palmer and you've got your Cole Palmer there and then you've got the, Oh, what's the guy on loan?
00:06:02
Speaker
in Brazil, what's his name? No, not Santos, the other one, the winger. he like bro He's broken the record for like most goals in at his age in the Brazilian league, I can't remember who it was.
00:06:18
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's coming in somewhere, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, even like through that, and then like, I mean, even, I think you, yes, David, that's it, yeah, then you said like, Even Chocomeco, you sent him out alone, didn't you? Yeah.
00:07:51
Speaker
It's terrible to be verbal a lot. No. No, I just thought.
Sanchez's Career: Inconsistencies and Surprises
00:08:00
Speaker
ah Yeah, well, that's just the thing is that like, we're from Sanchez and that like, he, he sort of, he'll have like, he had his moments, but like, just overall, it's just not really what you, it's not really what you want. And like, it kind of surprising that he got a big move for quite a decent amount of money. um Because like, you I've seen recently, I've seen clips of him from, I think he was at Forest Green Rovers for a little bit.
00:08:29
Speaker
And, um, some of the highlights seemed when he was there terrible. Um, yeah, but like the thing is we're from Sanchez, um, often like he'd get swapped around quite a lot. Like, because we didn't trust him with his feet. Um, which it's obviously like you've seen, but now it just seems as well that he makes a lot more like really schoolboy mistakes. Like the, um,
00:08:53
Speaker
the one against C, where he's just run out of his box, and he stops, and he's just like, in no man's lad, he's just so stupid.
00:09:48
Speaker
Yeah. Mm hmm. Yeah.
00:10:45
Speaker
No. Yes, young. Mm-hmm.
Brighton Manager's Decisions: Critiques and Arrogance
00:11:18
Speaker
He's, I mean, he is, I don't think he comes across very well well in the media. um He comes across a little bit arrogant. um And after that result, which to be fair was we didn't have the Labour or Ari who are sort of been that they've sort of been the two who are there in the midfield. um And then he's just he's put like Georgina Ritter there, who's like,
00:11:48
Speaker
ah basically like a nine and a half like sort of and he just got it wrong he got the formation wrong you got the players wrong um and then he's not even gone over after losing seven little away from home he's not even gone over to the away fans and allegedly I wasn't there but he didn't go through he didn't go over to the away fans and I just think that he he tries to chop or change it a little bit too much I know obviously injuries like sort of force your hand as to what you what you're going to do. But yeah, I think he just chops and changes it way too much. And um he doesn't. The thing with us Brighton fans is that especially the ones on social media, they really don't hold on to when when a manager does something that's like really bad. So like um some of the comments that like Potter made, like that stuck with our fans.
00:12:41
Speaker
And like some of the things that Deserby said is stuck in my fans, even though a lot of our fans want him back um and stuff like that. But I think that I didn't really predict his, I didn't predict his, um his sort of, I said that it started really well, which he did. And then he'll go in like on a really bad run, but I didn't expect the but run to be actually be this bad. And then I thought he could basically judge him dependent on how he comes out the end of it.
00:13:11
Speaker
And I mean, a 7-0 is crazy. It is just crazy. like It doesn't matter how good not enough for us to do it. It could have been Man City. It's still not really acceptable. Yeah,
00:14:18
Speaker
Really? That is insane. That's over 10 years.
00:14:37
Speaker
Yeah, then it wasn't an own goal.
00:15:12
Speaker
Okay. Mm hmm. Mm hmm.
Segment Break and Message from GSPM
00:16:43
Speaker
So true. It is true. Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, it was shocking. Yeah.
00:17:08
Speaker
yeah What I'm going to do is, i'm gonna we're going to go to the first break because we're going to run 17 minutes here and then um I'll jump straight back into it. So you're just going to hear from GSPM first and then we'll run straight back into it.
Brighton's Defensive Issues and Injuries
00:17:51
Speaker
and we are back for segment two. I am of course joined by Yashar and we are going to be speaking a little bit more about Brighton and just before we went to the break Yashar asked me sort of what's going on with the Brighton team and to be fair to answer your question mate. um the So we've had issues in like a certain in certain positions and they weren't really addressed in the summer window so Centerback wasn't addressed. We didn't buy any centerbacks. And we went into the season with um Lewis Dunk and JP, so Van Hecke. Lewis Dunk needs to basically hang up his boots. like it's just It's just been too much for him this season, to be fair. like so yeah yeah He's been his been there for ages.
00:18:45
Speaker
um Yeah, he he's he's just been having a tough time of it. And I think he needs to probably I don't think he needs to go, but he cannot go to coaching or something and like that. It would be calm or if you're going to go. like I don't think he could play ah in the Premier League anymore. um And then he goes injured. So he's another one of us at the back. He's injured. He's out for the season, I'm pretty sure. And then the other one is Adam Webster. And Adam Webster played so badly against. I think it might have even been against you.
00:19:17
Speaker
And he played so... a Was it against you the way he got injured and come off? Either way, he played so bad in one game that he literally got so much abuse on social media that he just deleted his social media. So ease we've barely seen him at all. um And yeah, we bought um like Air Rancassion from Derby, their 23rd. So it it hasn't really been addressed as much as we thought it would be.
00:19:44
Speaker
um The striker position, Evan Ferguson has been woeful. Danny Wilbex, he's like 34, so he's injured all the time. um And then we bought, so we we loaned out Evan Ferguson to West Ham. And then we bought in someone from Nuremberg in Bundesliga 2, who's like supposed to be like a wonder kid.
00:20:09
Speaker
And then we loaned him back there. So he bought him, but then we loaned him back straight away. So now it's literally just Welbeck, Pedro, and Ritter, but Pedro can't play up there on his own. And Ritter is basically the same, like he's he's decent player, but he can't play up. Like in the wide positions, we have so much, even on loan, like we have enough for like, we have enough depth even on loan, just on loan. And um the midfield, we have loads of midfielders now.
00:20:39
Speaker
fullbacks a little bit of an issue as well. But yeah, this we are we are struggling. And I think we signed Cardioglio from Fenerbacher.
00:20:50
Speaker
yeah sort about to And um he'd come in and he was all right. And then he got injured. And then he's just out for the rest of the season as well. So.
00:21:29
Speaker
Oh, man. That's the thing.
Impact of Injuries and Performance Against Lower Teams
00:21:32
Speaker
So when we first started going on that sort of like bad run, we I believe we are playing it switch. Maybe it was which it was one of the radiation teams, basically one of the teams that are like in the bottom five.
00:21:47
Speaker
And we played them at home and we were all just expecting to smash them basically, because we started Caesar so well. Then we drew and then we had like basically like three, I reckon in the next six games, we had like probably four or five of the bottom, like from 15 all the way down to 20 at the time. And we literally just couldn't beat any of them. And it was just like when we play against teams who are lower level,
00:22:17
Speaker
our level came down and then even in between then like we played City and beat City and then like we went like not that in January so at the start of January we went to Arsenal and we you know we played Arsenal at Arsenal and drew with Arsenal we played well in the second half but against the bigger teams we've played apart from literally even Liverpool at Anfield went 1-0 up Chelsea, we got, I think we went one that up in that game as well. And and yeah, ended up getting better. Well, still like, and I don't know what's going on. I just feel like the injuries of, um I'm not one to blame injuries, but like, I feel like his idea, the manager's idea in his head of what he wanted, because he's got the injuries, I feel like he's, he doesn't really know what to do now. But I still feel like he, apart from his centre back, I feel like he has enough
00:23:15
Speaker
like ah he has enough players there to work something out but it's just his idea has been a bit um screwed over so i think that's probably the main reason why this falls so bad yeah
Conference League Performance with Rotating Squad
00:24:42
Speaker
Yeah, I think ah think for when it comes to the conference league, the fact that you're playing a completely different 11 every time, not like like that you've the fact you've got two 11s, that is literally like when I used to play career mode in like 2018 or 2017. Like, yeah, like that's that literally, I've never seen that actually be a thing before. And but didn't you win every game as well, apart from like the qualifying game? Yeah, you've won every game with your second team.
00:25:20
Speaker
I reckon you can re-register in the semi-final, you'll be alright.
00:25:32
Speaker
I'm actually in it. No. they actually beat you, that'd be bad.
Combined Team: Brighton and Chelsea Players
00:25:50
Speaker
ah yeah so um after you're here from our partners at Zencast so guys we're going to run through a combined 11 which isn't probably going to be pretty so if you were to tune out i completely understand but you know stay by just to see because i'm going to try to fit very well back in there spoiler alert all right so i'll see you on the next the other side of this advert
00:26:35
Speaker
And we are back. We're in the final segment. Myself and Yashar are going to be doing our combined 11, Chelsea and Brighton. What are the rules? Are we doing players that are injured or we're not doing players that are injured? Yeah, for every everyone's healthy. okay Yeah.
00:27:02
Speaker
yeah we could yeah Yeah, that can run us fine, no problem. okay yeah are you are you are you picking you're not just picking because you have nine of them don't you so you're not picking any of the others because aren't they all better than sanchez you have 11 now i swear they're all better than sanchez anyway so yeah
00:27:32
Speaker
Yeah, if everyone can ask me that, but that performance gets a lot of the forage mate. He's on fraud watch, I hope he knows. I know how to be fair, one of the goals, he's actually possible to mate here. He's got nutmeg that is near post, that's unacceptable though.
00:27:53
Speaker
yeah Okay, and then Jordan. Yeah, so Jordan go right back to left back.
00:28:03
Speaker
Yeah, no, absolutely not. Reece James, put him in there, mate. I mean, you argue between the two of them, because I'm not putting to read an empty anywhere near. Although, all I can give you is Joel Boatman, that's it.
00:28:26
Speaker
Yeah, I think so, yeah. A full fit Reece James, mate, is... But Jovah was probably more of one of our most consistent players this season, to be fair. And he got Nicola Rice head off. He can, yeah. That is actually mad. That is mad.
00:29:06
Speaker
I mean the other... I would just put Van Hecker in there because Dunks not getting anywhere near there, Eagles probably not. I don't think Levi Colwell's been that good and i was really hot I was really high on him but I don't know when he runs, he's just like he's running in quicksand man, not seeing anything like it.
00:29:33
Speaker
yeah yeah those are a good mix because Van Hecke has got some of the best passing stats I've always sent them back to the league yeah so or Kaneo Blue you can basically pick either or but who's your left back again oh no yeah okay it's gone this season's got to be Kukarela I think
00:30:08
Speaker
I can't believe I'm actually playing Kakerela in there. That's mad. Yeah. Yeah, everyone in the whole country, apart from Chospas, hate Kakerela, to be fair. But... Can I say though, yeah, he' go probably gonna be he's probably be PFA-nominated.
00:30:35
Speaker
the 100% him and Gavibirch. Yeah. The belabor, belabor.
00:30:52
Speaker
Yeah, belabor has to be in there, mate. He's unreal. He's unreal. Yeah, but apparently um he's back with his misses now, so he's gotten worse again.
00:31:19
Speaker
He missed that one and then he went back.
00:31:31
Speaker
yeah He doesn't want it. but again
00:31:42
Speaker
yeah definitely we're going to put copper in this by the way okay yeah to be fair with that we can put forward to the other we keep rotating them because have anything for you mate i don't have anything for you
00:32:24
Speaker
Yeah, that's man, he's a midfielder, that's crazy. um Yeah, but the only rule is that you can have whoever you want on the left, mate, honestly, you can have, you can have Tom Boney on the left if you want, but but it's going to have to be Danny Welbeck up front, mate, it has to be.
00:32:43
Speaker
he She does this all the time, every single time, honestly. well
00:32:52
Speaker
yeah She doesn't care about filming a podcast, honestly. This is her whole, yeah, this is her whole yard. But yeah. that Well, I am a sancher.
00:33:13
Speaker
He needs a couple more couple more goals though, don't he?
Player Performance Analysis: Strengths and Weaknesses
00:33:20
Speaker
Yeah, that's the whole issue with Matoma.
00:33:26
Speaker
Yeah, but not not at the moment. this and he like it cause his What he does is good, but it's just like his output is so poor. I think he's got five goals and three assists or two assists.
00:33:43
Speaker
but and and know danny webe rutter can go hard Yeah, we don't care about that. Yeah, that guy was, when he was starting the season, he it was cooking. He's got a free kick as well. It's unreal. Oh, you know, I thought Nick is, I thought Nick was on the redemption.
00:34:10
Speaker
So what about, why not Jafelix or Kudkula? Not for this, night not in not in terms of the combined, but just in general, like why has the why were they not given on they being given chances? Yeah.
00:34:34
Speaker
Oh, OK. Yeah, you can't really put a false line in with a 10 like parliament. It doesn't work, does it? Yeah.
00:34:52
Speaker
Yeah. when When you signed him, he was on madness when you signed him.
00:35:06
Speaker
That's actually it' insane, that's insane. they play They play four less, because there's 18 teams here. Yeah, definitely.
00:35:39
Speaker
yeah yeah no it's not bad to be fair but like i had to start the season start the season it was peak because we were having loads of uh bright players in there and and now yeah i mean yeah some of them some of those players apart from wellbecker i imagine are probably going to get moves anyway so like belabra is going to go for helipedes helipedes
00:36:11
Speaker
Yeah, probably. Yeah, he's a little bit more technical than Kaisela is, but Kaisela is a better up here when it comes to defending and his defensive work. Well, yeah, yeah, Belayba could do all of it, but just he can't do that bit as well as Kaisela can at the moment. But I mean, it could. Yeah, 100 percent, 100 percent. Anyway, mate, it has been an absolute pleasure having you on.
