Introduction and Escaping the Heat

00:00:06
Speaker
Hey everyone, it's Salman Qureshi, you're listening to the Expat Brad Podcast and it's July.
00:00:13
Speaker
Wow, some of you are getting away for the summer.
00:00:16
Speaker
I'm super jealous because it's hot.
00:00:22
Speaker
But, you know, I always complain about it being hot in Dubai.
00:00:26
Speaker
And I had to go to Karachi, Pakistan, for a couple of days for some personal things, sad news.
00:00:34
Speaker
I won't get into that now.
00:00:36
Speaker
But what I will say is that
00:00:40
Speaker
I forget like the temperatures there were technically lower, but as soon as you step out, like you're slapped by humidity, right?
00:00:51
Speaker
Like it just comes and slaps you like right in the face and in your hair.
00:00:56
Speaker
And it doesn't matter how long I brush it or whatever.
00:01:00
Speaker
I got a free perm every time I stepped out into the city.
00:01:05
Speaker
It was crazy.
00:01:06
Speaker
And, um,
00:01:08
Speaker
Yeah, I felt bad for my kiddo just running around in the heat.
00:01:12
Speaker
So that was that was crazy.

Comparing Climates: Karachi vs. Dubai

00:01:14
Speaker
And I actually landed back in Dubai.
00:01:16
Speaker
This is how bad the humidity was that when I got back,
00:01:20
Speaker
I walk out of the airport and as soon as I cross this outdoor area a bit, the first thought that hits my mind is, oh, it's nicer here.
00:01:29
Speaker
And I was like, this place is like 40 degrees right now in the daytime.
00:01:35
Speaker
I landed in the night, fair point.
00:01:37
Speaker
But still, it was like 10 times better.
00:01:41
Speaker
And, uh...
00:01:42
Speaker
And yeah, so, you know, thankful for everything.
00:01:45
Speaker
And then you look at the news and you see all this stuff about how we've hit the hottest day in the global history since, I don't know, ever.

Global Warming Concerns

00:01:57
Speaker
Or, you know, the last one was in 2016.
00:02:01
Speaker
And apparently we're gonna break that record a few times this year.
00:02:04
Speaker
Whoop, whoop.
00:02:06
Speaker
Just, it's getting hot, right?
00:02:10
Speaker
Everywhere.
00:02:11
Speaker
And I think I'm going to regret not moving to Canada now or immigrating when I had the chance because they're going to start melting as in the ice and stuff.
00:02:24
Speaker
They're going to have a lot more livable land.
00:02:26
Speaker
In fact, with the whole warming up, that's where the temperatures might be good.
00:02:33
Speaker
Whereas everything, you know, as you get near the equator gets hotter.
00:02:37
Speaker
Correct me if my science is wrong.
00:02:39
Speaker
Yeah.
00:02:40
Speaker
But there's no climate warm changing.
00:02:44
Speaker
Your science is shit right there.
00:02:47
Speaker
That's my inner white liberal person or something.
00:02:52
Speaker
Anyway, white liberal.
00:02:53
Speaker
They're not white conservative.
00:02:57
Speaker
So, yeah, it's going to get hot and it's all going to happen around.
00:03:01
Speaker
So it's going to be nicer, I think, in Canada, right?
00:03:03
Speaker
Because everyone goes there and complains about they all have these wonderful opportunities, immigrants like me who go and their country.
00:03:11
Speaker
They can't go back to their country.
00:03:12
Speaker
It's never going to happen back home.
00:03:15
Speaker
It's always going to be terrible.
00:03:16
Speaker
Just keeps getting worse.
00:03:18
Speaker
And they go to these nicer places and they complain and find reasons to complain and they complain about the weather.
00:03:25
Speaker
They go, it's cold.
00:03:26
Speaker
And I just think, yeah, just wait.
00:03:28
Speaker
I think at the speed we're going in three years, next year, I don't know, five years maybe, it's going to be perfect there.
00:03:37
Speaker
And every other place is just going to be hot.
00:03:39
Speaker
And then everyone who was an idiot like me and didn't take up the opportunity is going to sit outside and go, oh man, it's going to be terrible.

Rising Costs in Dubai

00:03:49
Speaker
I think a lot of people will move to Dubai initially as well because they'll be like, your electricity bill is how much?
00:03:58
Speaker
And it's pretty decent here.
00:03:59
Speaker
It's not like bank breaking kind of thing.
00:04:02
Speaker
It's a little high now.
00:04:03
Speaker
It keeps increasing a little bit, but it's all right.
00:04:06
Speaker
It's affordable.
00:04:07
Speaker
And so people are going to be, if I move to Dubai, I can afford to have my air con on.
00:04:12
Speaker
And so they'll start moving here.
00:04:15
Speaker
And pretty soon, we don't have natural resources here for like,
00:04:20
Speaker
I don't know, electricity?
00:04:22
Speaker
I mean, I know UAE has a lot of oil, but at the same time, Dubai doesn't, right?
00:04:26
Speaker
So then all this is going to cause bills to go up and we'll be like the people in England who can't afford heating.
00:04:36
Speaker
Oh, wow.
00:04:36
Speaker
I mean, I didn't say that as a joke, people.
00:04:39
Speaker
It's very serious.
00:04:41
Speaker
And so then Dubai is just going to be unaffordable, right?
00:04:47
Speaker
And here

Future Strategies Against Climate Change

00:04:48
Speaker
we are.
00:04:48
Speaker
Like we're stuck now.
00:04:50
Speaker
Right.
00:04:51
Speaker
Canada.
00:04:52
Speaker
Russia, maybe.
00:04:53
Speaker
Scotland.
00:04:54
Speaker
Oh, I. Oh, I just remember my wife's from Scotland and my kids.
00:05:00
Speaker
British as well.
00:05:01
Speaker
So I better get on that.
00:05:04
Speaker
I better move to Scotland.
00:05:05
Speaker
Scotland's going to be more.
00:05:06
Speaker
My wife has always complained.
00:05:07
Speaker
She hates going back because of the weather.
00:05:09
Speaker
She hates it.
00:05:10
Speaker
She's like, my whole life I grew up, it was gray and dull.
00:05:13
Speaker
And I'm like, hey, that sounds like amazing Dubai weather.
00:05:16
Speaker
What are you complaining about?
00:05:18
Speaker
And again, Scotland's gonna get warmer, so it'll be the right temperature.
00:05:22
Speaker
This is my theory.
00:05:23
Speaker
This is what's gonna happen.
00:05:24
Speaker
So we gotta move north, maybe south.
00:05:26
Speaker
I don't know, will Antarctica be the next wonderful place to be when the ice melts away?
00:05:33
Speaker
Should I go over and claim some land there right now?
00:05:36
Speaker
Foresight?
00:05:37
Speaker
How long is this gonna take, man?
00:05:39
Speaker
For my kid, maybe.
00:05:41
Speaker
King of Antarctica, or at least like a piece of it.
00:05:44
Speaker
Isn't it like a huge continent?
00:05:47
Speaker
I don't know how much of it will be left in the ice melts.
00:05:49
Speaker
Do they know that?
00:05:51
Speaker
All the ice melts and they realize, oh, this is a small patch of land that just had a lot of ice around it.
00:05:56
Speaker
That's the North Pole though, isn't it?
00:05:58
Speaker
Dude, that's my theory, guys.
00:06:00
Speaker
You got to have this backup plan the way it's heating up everywhere.
00:06:04
Speaker
And I don't know what we're going to do in places where rain's not coming.
00:06:10
Speaker
You don't have the facilities.
00:06:11
Speaker
It's going to be hard.
00:06:12
Speaker
It's going to be hard for everybody.
00:06:14
Speaker
So take care of yourself and invest in sunblock cream companies.
00:06:23
Speaker
Yeah, I just thought of that.
00:06:24
Speaker
I swear to God, I just thought of that.
00:06:25
Speaker
I'm like, that would be a good investment.
00:06:28
Speaker
People are going to pay more and more.
00:06:30
Speaker
Like, people will start buying more of it as we get educated about sun and cancer and blah, blah, blah.
00:06:35
Speaker
Yeah.
00:06:37
Speaker
Although, does global warming mean more sun time?
00:06:41
Speaker
No.
00:06:42
Speaker
No, I think that's separate.
00:06:43
Speaker
Sorry.
00:06:44
Speaker
My bad.
00:06:45
Speaker
If you already invested based on my advice, I apologize.
00:06:48
Speaker
I don't think the sunblock cream thing might be the right thing.
00:06:50
Speaker
I'm speaking through.
00:06:52
Speaker
You should know.
00:06:53
Speaker
If you paused.
00:06:55
Speaker
Oh, my God.
00:06:55
Speaker
If people paused at the wrong part of my episode, I'm going to pause this episode and invest in sunblock cream right now.
00:07:02
Speaker
Then I...
00:07:03
Speaker
apologize.
00:07:04
Speaker
We've made a mistake.
00:07:06
Speaker
And I hope you don't sell at a loss.
00:07:09
Speaker
I'm just thinking this shit out loud.
00:07:10
Speaker
Like, is it going to be like that?
00:07:13
Speaker
What else would change with all this global warming and stuff?
00:07:17
Speaker
Like, it's hotter.
00:07:20
Speaker
People, more comfortable clothing?
00:07:23
Speaker
I don't know.
00:07:24
Speaker
Should we invest in cotton?
00:07:29
Speaker
A water bottle companies?
00:07:31
Speaker
Oh, that's evil, isn't it?
00:07:32
Speaker
They're like sucking the earth dry.
00:07:34
Speaker
It's so funny.
00:07:35
Speaker
Like you see these companies and they're like, we all know we're all part of it and there's nothing.
00:07:40
Speaker
We're heading like straight into a car crash and we're all like, oh, we got a break.
00:07:51
Speaker
But none of us are willing to put the foot on the break.
00:07:54
Speaker
And when I say us,
00:07:56
Speaker
I have always said the same thing.
00:07:58
Speaker
All right.
00:07:59
Speaker
At an individual level, I've given up.
00:08:02
Speaker
I don't think anything I do at this point is going to make any difference to any of this.
00:08:09
Speaker
I'm talking about the people in control, in power, the decision makers, the people who should be making this happen.
00:08:18
Speaker
Man, if their foot's on the brake and they're just like, you know what?
00:08:23
Speaker
I'm going to lift my foot off the brake and move it towards the accelerator and the pedal and just...
00:08:30
Speaker
Yeah, just nicely just press onto that.
00:08:33
Speaker
That's what's happening.
00:08:35
Speaker
And so I'm trying to now just enjoy those few moments before we head into that crash.
00:08:41
Speaker
Or I'm kind of looking around and going, should I invest in a good safety helmet?
00:08:47
Speaker
That's what I'm doing.
00:08:49
Speaker
I'm trying to have fun.
00:08:50
Speaker
before it all goes down and it happens.
00:08:54
Speaker
And I don't know.
00:08:55
Speaker
I don't know.
00:08:55
Speaker
Like I at this point, I also realize I won't be rich enough to be at the billionaire level to go off to

Living in the Moment: Pre-Climate Disaster

00:09:03
Speaker
Mars.
00:09:03
Speaker
I think that's their plan, right?
00:09:04
Speaker
The rich people are just like we've got they're not telling us everything.
00:09:08
Speaker
They've got bases on the moon and Mars and they're just like, yeah, we're
00:09:13
Speaker
We're good.
00:09:14
Speaker
We're just going to head off as soon as things.
00:09:17
Speaker
They've got this alarm, like a measurement tool somewhere in their house.
00:09:22
Speaker
And they're like, when it hits this, the siren will go off.
00:09:25
Speaker
You'll get in your rocket ship that's under your house.
00:09:28
Speaker
And you'll go off and inhabit the new world.
00:09:33
Speaker
Whereas the rest of us will be left standing back and going, take me with you.
00:09:37
Speaker
Yeah.
00:09:41
Speaker
So, yeah, guys, I've just spelled out what's going to happen in the next few years.
00:09:45
Speaker
So if you were making plans, you might as well drop it and become a beach bum.
00:09:50
Speaker
That's right.
00:09:52
Speaker
And on a brighter note.

Personal Reflections on July Birthdays

00:09:56
Speaker
It's like everything's going to hell.
00:09:58
Speaker
But on a brighter note, I've been hitting the gym, guys.
00:10:03
Speaker
I have to tell you guys, every time I start going on this path, I'm like, look, it's my birthday month.
00:10:10
Speaker
Okay?
00:10:10
Speaker
I hate my birthday.
00:10:11
Speaker
Personally, I hate birthdays.
00:10:13
Speaker
I hate my own birthday a lot.
00:10:15
Speaker
I've...
00:10:16
Speaker
As a child growing up, summer birthdays are horrible.
00:10:20
Speaker
If you're about to have a child, try avoiding the summer months for their birthdays.
00:10:25
Speaker
Just because my personal experience was in the summer, everyone's gone away, your closest friends and stuff.
00:10:33
Speaker
especially in July.
00:10:35
Speaker
And in August, they might be starting to come back.
00:10:36
Speaker
But July, they've all gone.
00:10:38
Speaker
You might be somewhere else as well.
00:10:40
Speaker
So it might be nice if you've got family and friends that you've gone to.
00:10:43
Speaker
But it never really works out like that.
00:10:44
Speaker
You don't have the same kind of big birthdays that I saw my other siblings have as well.
00:10:50
Speaker
And so my birthday was always like the summer half-ass thing, right?
00:10:56
Speaker
I didn't really love it ever.
00:10:59
Speaker
I find it more and more just not meaningless.
00:11:01
Speaker
I like celebrating.
00:11:04
Speaker
life and I'm not like a downer that way
00:11:07
Speaker
But it's my birthday month.
00:11:09
Speaker
And two days... So 2019, two days after my birthday, one of my best friends died.
00:11:16
Speaker
And so now I have that wonderful association around the time of my birthday.
00:11:22
Speaker
And other things have happened in July.
00:11:24
Speaker
And I'm just like... I've actually lost a lot of people around this month too.
00:11:28
Speaker
Not just him.
00:11:30
Speaker
A lot of close, wonderful people.
00:11:31
Speaker
So that sucks.
00:11:33
Speaker
I just...
00:11:34
Speaker
All right, it's a month where I'm gonna remember them all and bring some cake home and balloons home and celebrate.
00:11:45
Speaker
And also once you cross 40, you're like, do I really wanna be reminded of my aging?
00:11:51
Speaker
Not that I feel old, but it's the number, it's a number that keeps coming up and you're like, age is just a number, yeah, but it's a number and it's going up.
00:12:03
Speaker
So I don't know what I was talking about.
00:12:04
Speaker
It's like

Fitness Goals and Challenges

00:12:05
Speaker
it's my birthday month, so it should be fun in some ways.
00:12:09
Speaker
I've got nothing planned.
00:12:10
Speaker
Two days after my birthday, my family's flying out for a month-long holiday in Scotland and London.
00:12:19
Speaker
I am going to get to spend it here in Dubai.
00:12:22
Speaker
Wonderful.
00:12:23
Speaker
But it will give me some soul-searching time and a time to miss my kid and wife and kind of looking forward to it.
00:12:29
Speaker
So why did I start talking about it?
00:12:31
Speaker
Because I'm here in the gym.
00:12:33
Speaker
I've got like a week left, a little more than a week.
00:12:36
Speaker
And I'm like, I just...
00:12:38
Speaker
I just want to lose like half a kilo if I can in that time just to tell myself I'm physically in a better place than I was last year.
00:12:49
Speaker
Because at this point, I've given up on the next year on my birthday, I'll have...
00:12:54
Speaker
six abs or whatever kind of dream that's gone.
00:12:58
Speaker
But I just want to like lose a little bit, just a tiny bit, just to feel good on the day.
00:13:07
Speaker
So I'm hitting the gym every day now that I can.
00:13:10
Speaker
I've increased the amount of time of my workouts.
00:13:13
Speaker
It's helped that I'm not that busy with work.
00:13:15
Speaker
So it's kind of like working out from that perspective.
00:13:19
Speaker
But I always remember how good I feel after the days I work out, how good my body feels, how good my mind feels.
00:13:29
Speaker
And then I don't know why we can't just make it a habit.
00:13:35
Speaker
Everyone should just be doing it.
00:13:36
Speaker
And he said we got busy and blah, blah, blah.
00:13:41
Speaker
And then I read this stat, I think it was a Harvard study, that if you're obese but work out, you live longer than a person who's at the right weight.
00:13:52
Speaker
and doesn't work out at all.
00:13:54
Speaker
So that was quite interesting.
00:13:55
Speaker
Although I'd like to meet these two people and go, hey, how are you at the right weight level while you're not exercising?
00:14:04
Speaker
First, I'd like to slap them for being...
00:14:08
Speaker
So lucky.
00:14:09
Speaker
And then I'll have this chat with them, which they might not want to have once I've slapped them.
00:14:14
Speaker
I don't know.
00:14:15
Speaker
Maybe they're nice people.
00:14:17
Speaker
That's why weight stays off them.
00:14:19
Speaker
I don't know.
00:14:19
Speaker
I don't know their life story.
00:14:21
Speaker
And I want to just...
00:14:23
Speaker
hug the obese person in this story and go, I'm really sorry you're working out and you're still obese.
00:14:29
Speaker
And then you get to live longer as an obese person, which is, I don't know, like I hope you accept it and there's not fat shaming going on so you enjoy this life and you're not upset about it and you're at peace with your body.
00:14:43
Speaker
So I'm not making fun of that.
00:14:45
Speaker
I'm just saying it is a real pressure thing.
00:14:49
Speaker
Like I get it.
00:14:50
Speaker
Like any physical thing
00:14:53
Speaker
Anything you lack physically is so prominent, right?
00:14:56
Speaker
Because that's what you see in people.
00:14:58
Speaker
That's what we notice.
00:14:59
Speaker
You see someone with bad teeth.
00:15:01
Speaker
If your teeth are okay, no one cares about it.
00:15:04
Speaker
But if you have bad teeth, everyone sees that first.
00:15:07
Speaker
It's a thing.
00:15:09
Speaker
think about it all right i swear to god it's a thing you got bad teeth everyone's like oh my god that person with the bad teeth do something about it right uh but you could have great teeth then someone might notice but uh teeth is something and so physical stuff is something and i'm i'm not a tall person right and and compared to someone with a weight problem my thing is i can't do much about my height uh
00:15:34
Speaker
Apart from artificial stuff, what, wear platform shoes all the time?
00:15:39
Speaker
Yeah, walk around in stilts.
00:15:43
Speaker
I hate those, especially those stupid fashion advice that go, hey, if you wear these kind of clothes or these kind of colors and stripes, then you'll look taller.
00:15:51
Speaker
And I'm like, man, that's bullshit.
00:15:54
Speaker
All I got to do is stand next to someone average height and they know I'm short.
00:15:58
Speaker
All right.
00:15:59
Speaker
It doesn't matter how many stripes I've caught on.
00:16:01
Speaker
OK, they know they look at it.
00:16:04
Speaker
It's different.
00:16:05
Speaker
All right.
00:16:07
Speaker
So I understand that pain.
00:16:09
Speaker
I understand it better because I can't do anything about it.
00:16:12
Speaker
I recently heard about this guy who โ€“ was it in China or Japan who had like โ€“ was he an influencer?
00:16:21
Speaker
You must have heard this where he added like bone or something into his legs to make him taller by a couple of inches and he felt good about it.
00:16:36
Speaker
I'll be too old.
00:16:37
Speaker
So I've missed that boat entirely.
00:16:40
Speaker
But yeah, so the weight problem thing, it's a thing.
00:16:43
Speaker
It's just those two people, man.
00:16:47
Speaker
Just these people in these studies.
00:16:51
Speaker
I feel bad.

Societal Pressures on Appearance

00:16:52
Speaker
And he's living longer.
00:16:53
Speaker
Whereas this guy who's on the normal weight, he or she is going to die earlier.
00:17:00
Speaker
But satisfied, right?
00:17:01
Speaker
And they're going to get more...
00:17:05
Speaker
like sympathy, right?
00:17:06
Speaker
They're going to die and people will be like, oh my God, I can't believe that person died.
00:17:10
Speaker
They look fit.
00:17:11
Speaker
They looked all right.
00:17:13
Speaker
They were happy because I guess, you know, when you're that way, like everybody throws stuff at you.
00:17:19
Speaker
Whereas the person who's obese, they'll die and people will be like, oh, you know, well, we saw it coming.
00:17:26
Speaker
Whereas the sign says something else.
00:17:28
Speaker
So what's that all about?
00:17:31
Speaker
What's going on here?
00:17:32
Speaker
Huh?
00:17:34
Speaker
Well, that's weight and life and all that kind of nonsense.

Entertainment Recommendations

00:17:41
Speaker
I'm watching I'm watching Silo on Apple TV and man, so often they just nail it.
00:17:49
Speaker
They've got great shows coming out, whereas Netflix is just like just like vomiting stuff.
00:17:55
Speaker
And every so often you find like a diamond in there.
00:17:58
Speaker
But it's coming to a point where you're like, man, I am having to sift through a lot of puke to find that one gem.
00:18:07
Speaker
Whereas Apple is just like, you know, just nailing it.
00:18:11
Speaker
And Silo is, although it's one of those, it's kind of a, I haven't finished it.
00:18:17
Speaker
I'm four episodes in, but the season, I think all the episodes are out.
00:18:21
Speaker
It's one of those shows where they're living in an artificial world inside because the outside world has like been destroyed or has it.
00:18:30
Speaker
And I've seen similar stories.
00:18:32
Speaker
We've seen movies about the same kind of story.
00:18:35
Speaker
But this one's fun because it's really, although that's the world it's happening in, it's really a murder mystery.
00:18:42
Speaker
There's like some conspiracy theory.
00:18:45
Speaker
Something's happening and there's been some murder.
00:18:47
Speaker
So it's really about that.
00:18:49
Speaker
And that's what I love.
00:18:50
Speaker
It's at a...

Social Media Preferences

00:18:51
Speaker
deeper level it's really a crime murder show which is the type of stuff I like it's well done there's there's great actors in there Rashida Jones from the office is in there that's what hooked me because I saw her little clip on TikTok not her but from the show and I was like oh I want to watch this because hey she's doing a totally different kind of role I've totally forgotten about her
00:19:15
Speaker
And but, you know, spoiler alert, spoiler alert, spoiler alert.
00:19:20
Speaker
She dies pretty early, like in the first episode itself.
00:19:23
Speaker
So I was like, oh, it's not her show.
00:19:27
Speaker
Maybe in the next few episodes, she's going to come back.
00:19:30
Speaker
and make an appearance.
00:19:31
Speaker
I don't know.
00:19:32
Speaker
But yeah, so it's a good cast.
00:19:34
Speaker
It's a great show, fun.
00:19:37
Speaker
Obviously, I haven't finished it to know what the ending's like, but I'm quite close to it.
00:19:41
Speaker
And so that's my recommendation for shows.
00:19:45
Speaker
Check it out.
00:19:45
Speaker
Silos is a good one.
00:19:48
Speaker
Oh, and the other thing I woke up to this morning was Threads, right?
00:19:51
Speaker
So you probably have heard of it.
00:19:54
Speaker
It's the Twitter copy, and I hope it kills Twitter because every time I get on Twitter, I hate it, every little change.
00:20:00
Speaker
I don't know.
00:20:01
Speaker
This experience is being destroyed, and I'm not getting into the freedom of speech and all that kind of stuff.
00:20:06
Speaker
Just something about it.
00:20:08
Speaker
It's just I hate it now.
00:20:11
Speaker
And the recent thing he did about limited tweets, it's just like a painful thing, but I like text-based apps.
00:20:17
Speaker
I realize that.
00:20:19
Speaker
I don't have time all the time to get into video and stuff like the younger generation.
00:20:23
Speaker
I've just got busy timelines and I would love to do more video stuff, but text is easy for me because it's on the go and I can do it and I like it.
00:20:32
Speaker
So, but I was getting sick of
00:20:34
Speaker
Twitter and Facebook does not have that same kind of experience.
00:20:38
Speaker
So Threads has come out.
00:20:39
Speaker
It's awesome.
00:20:39
Speaker
If you're not on it, get on it.
00:20:42
Speaker
My standard username is there, SalmanZQ on there as well.
00:20:47
Speaker
And I'm really enjoying it.
00:20:48
Speaker
So far, they haven't destroyed it by, I guess they can't right now, with the whole, this is what you'll see, this is the ads you'll see, and blah, blah.
00:20:56
Speaker
It's very easy to sign up also from your Instagram because it's owned by Meta, right?
00:21:00
Speaker
So they will spoil it eventually, but for now, I'm happy.
00:21:04
Speaker
You can sign up through your Instagram thing and so you don't have to refill all the data and profile and blah, blah.
00:21:10
Speaker
You can just copy paste it across.
00:21:12
Speaker
It's nice.
00:21:13
Speaker
But it's already been fun.
00:21:14
Speaker
The first day has been fun.
00:21:15
Speaker
I've been tweeting, like tweeting.
00:21:18
Speaker
Well, what are you, threading on it?
00:21:19
Speaker
I don't know.
00:21:22
Speaker
That's what we're doing now.
00:21:22
Speaker
So I'm writing on it.
00:21:24
Speaker
I'm posting on it.
00:21:26
Speaker
And I've already pulled some friends.
00:21:29
Speaker
I have mixed feelings about one thing, though.
00:21:31
Speaker
I know it was easy to sign up with Instagram and you've got that follower count coming along with your friends and stuff, which is cool because I think that's how โ€“
00:21:40
Speaker
why the other apps haven't worked because they haven't been able to get people to move in and find a community fast enough.
00:21:45
Speaker
This one does that because, you know, you already have a few people on there.
00:21:50
Speaker
But one thing I did love about Twitter was finding strangers and reaching out to people and making those connections.
00:21:55
Speaker
So I hope I don't lose that because I already have Instagram to interact with the people I know and Facebook and blah, blah.
00:22:01
Speaker
Twitter was always this unknown as well.
00:22:04
Speaker
And I've made some great friends like that, at least online, right?
00:22:07
Speaker
And

Upcoming Comedy Show in Dubai

00:22:08
Speaker
so I want that to keep going, and I hope that doesn't get ruined or that does not happen.
00:22:15
Speaker
And yeah, let's see how it rolls.
00:22:17
Speaker
I really hope it works because I'm going to monitor this for a week.
00:22:21
Speaker
I'm going to use it a lot.
00:22:22
Speaker
It's so Twitter stylish that usability is so easy.
00:22:28
Speaker
As one of my friends, Rami, said, the bar is so low that just a functioning app is enough.
00:22:33
Speaker
I thought that was brilliant.
00:22:34
Speaker
And so, yeah, it's working.
00:22:39
Speaker
It's working fine.
00:22:40
Speaker
And I'm hoping in a week's time
00:22:43
Speaker
It'll be good enough that I don't โ€“ I'm going to quit Twitter.
00:22:48
Speaker
A few times I've thought about it, but I've just gone, where do I go to text this stuff?
00:22:52
Speaker
I like doing it.
00:22:53
Speaker
I really do.
00:22:54
Speaker
And so now if this doesn't crash, Twitter is done for me for sure, like 100%, and I'm really happy about it.
00:23:02
Speaker
I hope a lot of journalists and everybody just move over here.
00:23:05
Speaker
Let's see how it pans out.
00:23:06
Speaker
Like I said, if you haven't, give it a go.
00:23:08
Speaker
Try it because, hey โ€“
00:23:10
Speaker
What we really need in life is one more social media platform to operate on our phones.
00:23:16
Speaker
Cool.
00:23:16
Speaker
That's what's been happening, guys.
00:23:17
Speaker
I've just been parenting.
00:23:19
Speaker
I've been checking out this app.
00:23:21
Speaker
I've been watching Silo.
00:23:22
Speaker
I've been taking it easy and having some fun.
00:23:25
Speaker
We do have some great shows coming up next Tuesday.
00:23:28
Speaker
If you're Dubai-based, come down to Rushdie's Comedy Souk at the Courtyard Playhouse.
00:23:33
Speaker
I'm going to be performing there on Tuesday, July 11th.
00:23:36
Speaker
So that's a show I'm looking forward

Conclusion and Sign-off

00:23:38
Speaker
to.
00:23:38
Speaker
And I hope you come down or spread the word.
00:23:41
Speaker
You can sign up for attending the show on the website for CourtyardPlayhouse.com.
00:23:47
Speaker
Cool.
00:23:48
Speaker
Do that.
00:23:49
Speaker
Meanwhile, I will be heading off doing other stuff.
00:23:51
Speaker
Take care.
00:23:52
Speaker
I'm running out of time.
00:23:53
Speaker
I'll catch you on the next episode.
00:23:55
Speaker
Take care of yourself.
00:23:56
Speaker
Goodbye.
00:23:57
Speaker
Or as a dog would say, wolf.
