Introduction and Caribou Cup Discussion

00:00:02
Speaker
every club every day the global sports podcast network work hello everyone and welcome to this crossover episode of the daily manchester united and the daily chelsea podcast here on the global sports podcast network my name is Kieran McGidley from the daily manchester united glad to have uh craig with me from the daily chelsea podcast craig welcome along thank you having me how are you ah yeah I'm not too bad I'm not too bad it's it's been a bit of an eventful couple of days that's for sure I think that would be an understatement you know you well interim manager of rude taking over as we speak as we record this it's a caribou cup fixtures happening at the moment and Casimir has just scored so there you go
00:00:42
Speaker
um I guess as the home team, Craig, I guess I'll start with you asking questions to you.

Chelsea's Performance Under Maresca

00:00:48
Speaker
What a start from Chelsea, by the way. Fifth place so far. How are times under Maresca? Because at the start of the season, you sort of got this reputation for spending or a billion pounds. I mean, since, I think since 10 Harg actually took over, you've spent a billion pounds, which is 400 million more than United. Yeah. And that's not saying a lot, but I mean, he's really turned things around at Chelsea.
00:01:11
Speaker
I think what he's done is he's picked, he's found his fine is best 11. He's been able to rotate the squad, like in the Europa Conference League and get the right players in and give everyone minutes. So he's called the players he didn't want, like maybe the unhappy players. I just picked the right team now and I feel like it's got the right balance. He's got players like Cole Palmer doing excellent work from last season. He's got Nicholas Jackson scoring more on a consistent basis. He's got like the defense re-changed back now. He plays one game a week now. So that's good for the team.
00:01:41
Speaker
You've got, you know, it's got the scientists being very good in goal recently, there's some crucial saves. So the team is balanced. And let me show this balance as well. And it's funny, find this form now. And you've got like, I say those doing well. So the whole team is doing well, I would say on a balance. So it's working well for the team. And it's all about like, like, everything's working well at the moment. um Yeah.
00:02:03
Speaker
I mean, you're definitely challenging for Europe. Is that sort of your pre-season expectations coming into this? Just get back into Europe? I think get back into the time season is the most important thing. Try to win a trophy if you can this season and try and just do well this season and um see where health fight goes. You get into that season, and you can invest in the squad and all through that. So, yeah.

Chelsea's European Aspirations and Squad Strategy

00:02:22
Speaker
Yeah, Enzo sort of came in all guns blazing, picked his 25-man squad for the Premier League quite early on, and also made some headway or headlines about dropping Cole Palmer for the Conference League. It just seems like all the decisions he's made has really benefited the squad as a whole. Yes, Cole Palmer's been excluded from Conference League football, but I'll be honest with you, with the amount of you know the amount of Chelsea players that are on the book, there's so much potential for squad rotation now.
00:02:49
Speaker
Definitely, I agree. I feel like it's good that it's something for the conference because I would give them a rest for the Premier League matches where it's more important, I would say. I mean, get a champion for what's very important for the owners. And so they're going to be like, you know what I mean? Get a champion for more revenue for the club as well. So definitely.
00:03:05
Speaker
I mean, I watched the game against Newcastle as well, just to grab quick snippets of it, but I mean, it was the Cole Palmer show really, wasn't it? The first goal being ruled offside, it it it seemed criminal. It seemed criminal that it was ruled offside. But what a pass to set up that first goal. ah What vision to not only see that happen, but the ability to be able to pull it off. I mean, what what a fantastic player you've got in Cole Palmer.
00:03:30
Speaker
He's a class player. I'm so shocked that Mancy sold him. I'm so shocked that it's there Mancy got rid of him. I feel like he's come to tell us he's proven the point. He's proven that you know he want he wants to be a top player. He wasn't going to sit on the bench or wait around a seat. He wants to play football. That's the right attitude to have as a player. If you want to play football, regular football, you have to move move from your home comforts and move somewhere. Someone's going to show you love and affection and Chelsea are showing love and affection and it's done well for them. It's really proven. He's paid over the transfer fee 10 times over now since he's been there. So, yeah.
00:04:02
Speaker
No, absolutely. I totally agree. I mean, I watched that match and it was just Karl Palmer just pulling the strings, running everything. And I mean, to be honest with you, he's a massive reason why your fifth place in the league right now. And that's no bad thing because you've got the likes of City and Liverpool above you right now. Arsenal and Villa. and Villa who've started fantastically this season. I mean, you're well up there. is Is it possible for Chelsea to have that title race this season or perhaps is it season too early?
00:04:30
Speaker
Never say never in football, and anything can happen. You know how to you know how my night used to be entitled, there's a start off slow and then they can't pick up and second off of the season. So never say never in football. If you continue the good form of the Christmas, I would say, see how it goes from there. If we're still in in the same position around Christmas, then no, you never know.

Transitional Phases of Chelsea and Manchester United

00:04:47
Speaker
Gut feeling though, Craig, is this is your Chelsea squad one that can win the Premier League?
00:04:52
Speaker
um so harshly question isn' it I feel like it depends on like, January, February. January, February depends on that part of the season. When the fixtures get thick and fast, I would say, January, February, March. If it's still in the top three or top four by that time or top five, then anything can happen. So I wouldn't write. I wouldn't write off here. I don't want to sound like I'm being delude or anything, but I want to say that, you know, never say never in football, anything can happen. So yeah.
00:05:23
Speaker
I mean, I feel like last season, a real problem with Chelsea was the fact that they had chances they couldn't convert them. But now in the Premier League after nine games, you've got the second most goal scored in the league, one behind City with 19. I mean, that's that's some turnaround. Enzo's working his magic there. Definitely. I agree. I feel like he is.
00:05:42
Speaker
He's worked with the squad, he realised who were players that he needs and he's done a great job. I feel like he's just bringing back the fair factor at Stamford Bridge again. And teams come to Chelsea back in the day, they were scared to come, they don't know they'll get beaten. So I feel like he's just working his little magic and behind the scenes and long mate continue, I would say.
00:06:04
Speaker
I would say, long may it not continue, but you know I might be a bit biased on that one. No, I mean, it' ah jealousy is ah is a bad colour on our soul. And the fact that Chelsea, who, let's let's face it, were absolutely slaughtered in the media, once Todd Boley came in, once he was spending the millions, you know two caught out because of a reported fracas with the board,
00:06:27
Speaker
They've brought in Enzo Mareska now, who is working the magic there. And yes, he might not be buying all of those players, but he's one of those managers that's getting the best out of the players right now. And it and it calls into question of our own managerial situation about how managers can't get the best out of what they have. Just seems like Enzo's come in, as you say, he's decided who's staying and who's going relatively quickly. yeah And it seems like he's got the respect of all the players behind him. and And that's the one thing you need as a new manager coming in. You need to win over these players very quickly.
00:06:57
Speaker
I agree 100% I agree. I think in football like when you're a new manager you have to stamp your authority quickly gain respect to your players and trust of your players and he's done that already. He brought in Jordan Santo from you guys funny enough and he's got a tune out of him. So it goes to show that you know sometimes it doesn't work out one place it'll work out somewhere else. So he's done he's done well this season he got brought in Pedro Netto from Wolf he's done quite well as well.
00:07:24
Speaker
been brought in Charles Felix, he did well on the club, he scored a goal last season in the conference league. So the players are fighting for their places and he's trying to get Chenow Mudras as well, finally hopefully he can get something out of him. So he's really trying to help the team do well and I feel like you have to give him credit. He did well at Leicester last season, he got him promoted from the championship to the Premier League so he knows what he's doing so he just got to give him time and have faith in him that he can deliver for the club.
00:07:52
Speaker
and He's doing that right now. so yeah i mean it's It's been quite interesting, you know the the last few years watching on from Chelsea, you know just a bit just getting them into the conference league with a new board taking over. It just seems like it's a whirlwind two or three years with the new board coming in, ah manager a high profile manager deciding not to continue anymore. i mean It's been a wild couple of years, but finally, it seems like things are ah turning your way, Craig.
00:08:18
Speaker
Definitely, you know, sometimes sometimes you go through transitional periods, like up magnetic going through or grown through the last couple of years, transitional periods.

Manchester United's Recruitment Challenges

00:08:26
Speaker
Every club goes through a transitional period. Liverpool went through it, Arsenal went through all of the clubs, go through that period, they were won in loads of trophies, and then after a while they stopped winning, and then after they rebuilt the they start from scratch. Every club goes through it, so I think everyone has their cycle and their time now. so obviously the man sees time at the moment but hopefully that will end soon but yeah that's how it goes sometimes in sports you get a time when you're dominating for a long time and then after a while it stops dominating for a while so yeah. Just feels like an 11-year transfer a transition at the moment for United but you know it happened trophies along the way I can't I can't get too upset about that. um I won't get upset about it but Craig might be asking some questions in a minute that might upset me and you'll want to hear those when we come back after this.

00:09:48
Speaker
sports podcast network Right then Craig, the floodgates have opened now. It's your turn. Let's have the return leg. okay so kiron what if has been the biggest form in my night the last couple of seasons why you guys are struggle to dominat the league and try and when big trophies again what do you you the biggest issues been um Well, honestly, the recruitment policy, you know we've we've sort of spoken about it on the podcast many times over that there's been a lot of Hollywood signings, but not in the way that you would expect you know young players coming in for big fees. These are
00:10:24
Speaker
experienced and veteran players coming in for big fees. You know, Casimir are coming in for, I think it was 60 million when he'd left Real Madrid. He was in his early thirties, fantastic first season at the club. And, you know, he's had his off moments, but as to be expected of a player that might be past his peak, Varan as well, again, a great first season, but just showed how injury prone he was towards the end. And Real Madrid were more than happy to take the sort of combined at 100 million plus for players that were past their best. yeah And that's been a common theme across all of the United transfer policies is that we we try and bring in these high profile Hollywood signings right to to show to sell shirts rather than to improve the team is what it felt like. I'd say the only outlier, one of the big outliers was Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And when United signed him, it turned out to be a season and a bit, it It it came under scrutiny from the rest of the league. Could Zlatan do it in the Premier League? It turns out, yes, he could. yeah But you know I would have loved to have it as Zlatan Ibrahimovic 10 years earlier. you know And that just seems to be the whole transfer policy up until the last window, which I think we as as fans on the podcast, we were happy. We were satisfied with the last transfer window. It was a much better recruitment policy. There seemed to be an idea of what we needed.
00:11:41
Speaker
and it just seemed like the United Tax that's always seemed to be there wasn't really there that time around. Dilett was a higher price, fair enough, but Maserawi for 15 million, I think it was 15 or 20 million euros, it's a good price. so and Yeah, exactly. So we're starting to see that sort of change and a change towards more sensible transfer policies. I think that doesn't help. you know Anthony being brought in for 80 million plus, Harry Maguire being brought in for roughly the same. you know that These are all signings that are, you need to be world class if you're being signed for that price. And the players that we've brought in are just not that, you know they're not that billing, they're not that footing. So I think that's a start of where things go. And with those big price tags come big egos. And those egos need to be kept and reined in. and
00:12:31
Speaker
for so many managers, they've they've fallen afoul of of that sort of ego taking over. And time and time again, we find ourselves in a position of here we go again, we've got to start all over again.

Marcus Rashford's Form and Future

00:12:42
Speaker
Definitely. um ah My thoughts are not to question about Marcus Rashford, he's been a magnetic player for a long time, come for the youth ranks. What if it's happened to him in this form and where do you where do you stand on what do what should the club do with him? Should they sell him or do you think they should give him more confidence? Where do you stand on not on that on that borderline of? um You're tugging at the harp strings here because I remember when Rashford first was brought onto to the scene. He loved a debut. Every debut was a goal and it was ridiculous at that point. I just wish we had that tenacious youngster. i Because, you know, he this is ah this is a player who scored more than 130 goals for the club. He's been here for a while now. You know, eight or seven years, I think it's been now. So it's been incredible. um But yeah, i I just think I would love to see him back. I would love to have like, you know, the that that fearlessness because it just seems like we're seeing it better now where he's taking on players. yeah He seems to have a little bit more confidence coming into these games, but more often than not, he can let his head drop. And when that happens, he starts to pass backwards. He starts to lose faith. He starts to
00:13:53
Speaker
lose faith maybe in his own teammates as well and you can only use that an excuse for you know five to ten games but this seems to happen every other season and it's happened from last season into this and honestly you know if if the decision came to sell him I would be sad but I wouldn't be surprised and I think, i think him as you say, him being a product of the academy, you know United have a very strong academy. If there's one thing that's kept us going after the last 11 years or so, it's that the Youth Academy has kept on bringing out fantastic talent to just slot into the first team, as if they've been there for years. Kobe Main has been the most recent example.
00:14:33
Speaker
That academy has really kept us, you know, head above water on more than one occasion. Rashford being brought in was just that, you know, he was instilled that fear into other teams that, you know, we're playing Rashford, we've got to we've got to stop him. I just think, seemingly there was no way to stop him. now though he's a little bit older you would consider him now one of the senior players of this team he's got to be set an example he's got to be leading from the front and he's got to be doing what he used to do grabbing gains by the scruff of their neck and saying right i've got this i assist or goal i've got this and i'm doing it okay what what's your best sign under the owners under the arm ah over the last couple of seats that you said was your best of a sign in that united
00:15:15
Speaker
and the last couple of years that you would say that was a good job, like a good bargain sign. They got a good value for money. Oh, wow. How far are we going back? Because I've already mentioned one. um I would say the last, since when social, I was a manager, I would say. oset from not flashhouse manager Yeah. ah Wow.

Top Signings Since Solskjaer Era at Manchester United

00:15:38
Speaker
There have been, I mean, there have been quite a few.
00:15:39
Speaker
um
00:15:43
Speaker
weirdly Weirdly, Dallow's been solid. you know He had his loan spell a couple of years ago. and yeah No, it was in fact last season. He had his loan spell-ish, and he's come back a completely new player. you know so Sorry, it was two years ago because he was with us last season. Two years ago, he was on loan at AC Milan, and that just seemed to just spark something underneath him. yeah I think he's been a solid player. Let's not forget about the open goal he missed against West Ham, but Point is, he's an attacking fullwork. Is he expected to finish chances? Maybe that one, yeah yeah. He's definitely been one of the highlights, I think. I think, yeah,
00:16:22
Speaker
yeah it's it's a weird one because I think, honestly, Bruno Fernandez, I think, is the best, the best signing we have had in in recent years. I mean, he has been phenomenal, yeah absolutely phenomenal. He is as close to world class as you can get. I just don't think, especially right now, I just wouldn't consider him absolute elite talent. He's certainly a top player, yeah but I wouldn't go as far as to say he's an elite player at this moment in time. and he's He's just signed a new three year deal at the start of this season, which I was very happy about at the time. yeah But it's clear to see that, you know, as that
00:17:01
Speaker
tenacious second striker. He's starting to drop back a little bit now. He's trying to create chances and he's mixed some big chances this season. um Chances he would have put away two seasons ago. So, yeah, without a doubt, I think Bruno has been top class, one of our best signings. and And I would say, you know, he should have been a player we could have team built a team around and won even more with.
00:17:28
Speaker
no ask last question then um who is your favorite manager under the era of of after science service and retired who received your your favoriteite manager who you know when when you when you manage to team you very happy with results trophies and you know things like i would say ah style ah style of football ah style of football as well yeah Once we had him, I started to see why you guys like Mourinho.
00:17:52
Speaker
ruthless and absolute winner. And had it had it been for different circumstances, you know, that the fact that he managed to get the team that he had up to second place feels like yeah feels like that deserved a trophy in itself. Certainly, maybe towards the end, he started to get a little bit grating, but I think that's, well, that's happened twice with Chelsea, you know, I just think he's a manager you can bring in. And with the squad you've got right there, he can get the absolute best out of them. Yeah.
00:18:18
Speaker
Absolutely. Short-term manager, he's one of the best. I just think when he's trying to take part in squad building, it seems like he he lets that he leaves that to other people, maybe director of football, and the signings that are brought in don't match his philosophy, and I think it starts to fall apart. apart and But I just think for the short term, I mean, Mourinho is one of

Post-Ferguson Managerial Impact at Manchester United

00:18:40
Speaker
the best. I think in terms of In terms of vibes, Ollie, you know, I i really regret the ending with Ollie because I think the Ronaldo signing had a lot to do with Ollie's fall-off with the club. yeah um You know, Ronaldo a great player, but I think the players started to almost take part in a slight mutiny where they backed Ronaldo rather than the manager. And I think that conflict just ruined a lot of Ollie's hard work at that point. And it just started to fall apart. I think Ollie built a good
00:19:11
Speaker
you know He made the grounds there, but yeah the results became untenable towards the end and the squad atmosphere where you start to go behind a senior player rather than the manager. It was it was untenable at that point.
00:19:21
Speaker
yeah Well, on the great news that United are now 4-1 up with another guy from Gaston Europe. Wow. Yeah, that's pretty good, isn't it? Something, look, look, Championship clubs and Barnsley. That's all we need to play and we'll start getting some wins. And you win the league every season. Absolutely. Give us a league, put us in league one, we'll top it. Yeah. Oh, dearie me. And we've got to make a combined 11, Craig. Oh, that'll be interesting. That's going to be very interesting. That will be interesting. That's all to come after this. Every club.
00:19:54

Speaker
global sports podcast network. work Right Craig, it's the moment we've all been waiting for. You're not allowed injured players or suspended players and we've got to create a combined 11 out of Chelsea and Manchester United. So let's start in between the sticks. We've got Anana versus Sanchez and I'm picking Anana. I don't know about you. Yeah, that's fine. I think Anana on his day when it comes to doing like um He's very good at, light like, can when he was at Intel, he was very good at, like, doing them on, them them them assist passes on his day. And since he's been in England, he struggled a lot in certain games, he struggled a lot. But he has not had a solid back four every week, I would say. So, I would say, give him an honour and go.
00:21:12
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. I'm happy with that. um Right. We've got a problem at left back, of course. and But, I mean, Martinez is playing left back as we speak. So whether we count him there or not, um I mean, I've always been a fan of Levi Colwell. I think he's, I think Last game, I don't think he had his best game, but I do think he's a solid talent and one for the future for for sure. um I would probably pick him over for Fana. I agree. And I think I would put Colwell with De Licht, because I think De Licht also is one of those that on his day, I think he's been a really solid player for United. He's been one of our best players so far. um Absolute rubbish decision against him. Yeah. West Ham and his ultimate cost a man his job. Thanks for your help. And then full backs, as you said, Rhys James now limited to pretty much one game a week and if he can continue that, if he can continue the way he did against Newcastle, he'll be absolutely fine. And I think to put him at left back, which seems to be, is that his new position then at left back? Is that fair to say?
00:22:17
Speaker
on I think he found that a common type, get two players in, he wants to go, Gosto's done very well in his absence as well. I think it's time to give him a balance of having two solid left back, right back, kind of, and obviously Reece James can cut him on his right foot, I'm playing left back, so give that a little balance as well, so I would say, you know, he could try that out, definitely. Gosto, right back, and all he could play, Mazawari, right back, and then play Reece James, left back, all he can play,
00:22:44
Speaker
evil what evil eyeball evil eyeball say yeah do you know what i was thinking reese james and masraoui would be a a good combination of fullbacks there reese james and left masraoui on the right um yeah i think that's that's a that's a great shout i mean really good to see masraoui back considering the the news that we heard earlier on you know with the the heart condition but great to see him back anyway um so soon as well because originally the the diagnosis was he was going to be out for the the entire season so really good to see him back so soon and yeah hopefully he'd he'd do well in that sort of combined eleven is is that a backfall that sits well with you then
00:23:20
Speaker
so an non delay um coalwise a residentset that center black with um um a white right back We've even got Dalo, Dalo has done well this season as well. He has. Dalo has done well since the Premier League. I'm going to do that very well. So, obviously, Greece changed. Yeah. So, that's all right, I would say. Okay. All right. but We've agreed with each other so far. yeah Okay. Holding Minfield, then, this is going to be an interesting one because I think for both clubs, Holding Minfield seems to be sort of a a weaker area for for the most part.

Debate: Combined Chelsea and Manchester United XI

00:23:51
Speaker
I think Romeo Lavia, you know, from what he showed at Southampton,
00:23:55
Speaker
he He has the potential to be a great, one of the greats. His vision passing everything you need from a deep-blind playmaker, he's got. Can I say though, I think he's still suffering from that massive price tag he had from Brighton. I think that's still weighing over him. Good player, but I don't think he's the, you know, what was it you paid for a million? A hundred or a hundred or a million? A hundred plus?
00:24:17
Speaker
um possibility and yeah I just don't think he's that type of player. I mean, phenomenal for Brighton and a phenomenal bit of business. And then you come to the flip side where you've got Ericsson and Casamira in the midfield for Manchester United. I think Ericsson's done well, you know, as a veteran of the game. yeah Again, as a deep-line playmaker, who would I rather have? Is it Ericsson? Is it Lavia?
00:24:38
Speaker
And I think this this bias might be coming back to me and it might come back to bite me because I might be picking Ericsson because he's he's been a very impactful player. He's had um very, very much important moments, especially in the Europa League. Yes, he's made the you know mistake that cost us in the game again. I think it was FC Twente, but I think he's been a solid player overall this season. And when it comes to holding midfield, I got absolutely slaughtered for, say, in Casabira in the West Ham game.
00:25:06
Speaker
And he scored, but there we go. And, yeah, it's again, would it be Casimir or would it be Kaisado? I struggle here. I would put Kaisado in. I think Kaisado this season has been very good for Cholsa this season. Honestly, I think he's been very good. Like, when he plays with Laffiel, when he plays with Fega, they work very well together. I think him and Enzo are still trying to work up a relationship. But I would say Kaisado has been very good this season.
00:25:31
Speaker
So I would say maybe for Ericsson, Kai Saylor and that midfield, if that's what you want, could appeal not one casdo it's very very for combined eleven i mean quite saing and ericson you that could definitely work and then in the number 10 position now.
00:25:46
Speaker
Yeah, I think, um yeah, I was going to say, ah in current form, Cole Palmer is absolutely unplayable. One of the best players in this league so far. definite If I could shoehorn in Bruno Fernandes, I would, but to be honest with you, I don't have an argument. I do not have an argument for it. You know, that assist he pulled off, should have had a goal in the game as well, a ton for scoring, but offside, it is what it is. But that pass,
00:26:13
Speaker
Absolutely stunning, stunning pass. You know, that's probably one of the best you'll see at the Premier League all season, long range. And that's a pass that Bruno Fernandes would be making two, three years ago, but just can't seem to make right now. And so on that basis, yeah, happy to concede with with Cole Palmer, definitely one of the best in the Premier League right now. Let me get to the wings. Now, this is interesting. I I watch Pedro Neto against Newcastle. He's a phenomenal player, absolutely phenomenal for Chelsea. He's been so good.
00:26:41
Speaker
um so So to get into that left wing, it's going to be tricky. I think the competition would be Rashford and Garnaccio. And I think I would love to have Garnaccio in that team, but I would have to probably put him on the right wing, even though I am a fan of Madaweke and the type of play that he is. I think I've got i've got to try and get my bias in there somehow, Greg, and try and get Garnaccio in there somehow.
00:27:05
Speaker
then let's Let's compare stats this season. and garnaer or manwe I think Garden Waker is a good player. It's done very well this season. I think Garden Waker is developing very well as well. Good player as well. On the right.
00:27:20
Speaker
Yeah, so it's it's it's four goals for Madaweke in the Premier League, two goals for Garnaccio. So if you're going to get all statistics about it, then I suppose it's going to I'll I'll Up top, Highland versus Jackson I think is going to be the the order of the day. I think I'm going to go for Jackson. See, I would have gone for Highland. We're going to butt heads here. I think we're going to butt heads. I think Jackson's gone wild this season. I think he's proven a lot of critics wrong. I think he did well all season as well. I think there's a player in him
00:28:12
Speaker
I think its ah there's a definitely 100% a hundred percent good player in him. He's done well, scoring goals, getting assists. He's become more consistent this season. And um I feel that like, you know, when the puff gets going, he just gets on with it and scores goals. So I would say Jackson this season. I know Hoyland's been out for a while. Hoyland's been out for a while. So I feel like Jackson had a bigger impact since he's come to the Premier League. I think he's had a big impact than Hoyland to be honest with you. Like goals wise and impact as well. so Yeah, it's for Jackson, it's six goals and three assists in nine Premier League games. So yeah, I'd start to see when you start to look at it like that. Yeah, it's probably the better idea to have Jackson then. It's just it's just me being a man united bias. But I mean, to be fair, that's a that's a strong combined 11, I think. And I think it's sort of a combined 11 that's I don't think we're going to fall out over. No, we're going to fall over. No, no, no. No, no, no. Not yet anyway.

Score Predictions and Conclusion

00:29:08
Speaker
So I suppose the only thing left to do now is a bit of a score prediction. How do we think the game is going to go? We've got, look, do you believe in the new manager bounce? It always seems to happen in football. When a new manager comes in, he just transforms the club form and they do well. But I feel like Chelsea has got a good record at Old Trafford. A lot of people in the Premier League, especially at Old Trafford, they've got a good record there.
00:29:34
Speaker
um
00:29:37
Speaker
you know, last season game as well, last season game, I think, you know, so i I'm i' not too worried about the game, but it depends. I always say it depends on defenses on the day, or what defense can hold up on the day. If you guys are stock called Palmer.
00:29:52
Speaker
um if Chelsea can stop Garnax or Rashford or Hoyland, so and all it all depends on who does what, it all depends on the defence and the midfield, the midfield battle as well, like the Kaisada versus Casamero, or whoever plays the midfield with Erikson versus Lavier or Enzo Fernandes, so it all depends on the midfield battle and and and how they play at the tempo of the game, so whoever wins the midfield battle wins the game.
00:30:21
Speaker
I just want to say as well that in the 2020s, Chelsea have not won at Old Trafford. Do you think this could be the turning point? Do you think this is where you can say, here's our first win of the 2020s? I think so. I think we can go then. Even if it doesn't win, get a point at least. Get a point, that would be good. Get the feet, I think that would be good.
00:30:43
Speaker
Yeah, I think we're it would it would be a very misleading to say, oh, your last two visits to Old Trafford have been losses. I think that might come back to bite me. I think it's going to be, you know, we saw at Stanford Bridge last game, 4-3 to Chelsea. I mean, it took about a heartbreak.
00:30:59
Speaker
um But I think I think we're going to see a similar game. This is two teams that are going to be, well, you would hope for Manchester United's sake, they're chomping at the bit to prove a point against a strong Chelsea side that are full of goals. So I think yeah it's going to be tough to stop you. It would be a huge pessimist of me to say I expect a Manchester United loss. But I think I think it'd be a good game. I'm going to put I'm going to say two all is probably going to be the full time result. How about you, Craig? often It's going to be a free, free draw.
00:31:27
Speaker
3-3, so both draws. Oh good stuff, well Nico Jackson you'll be hoping to to add to his tally and I'm hoping to go natural to his. so what yeah happens still happened yeah Well Craig it's been an absolute pleasure, good luck for the game on on Sunday and you'll be able to I believe you'll be able to catch it on Sky Sports main event and Sky Sports Premier League, so that's 4.30pm on Sunday 3rd November.
