NFL Week Recap
Devontae Adams Trade Analysis
00:00:30
Speaker
welcome back to another episode of The Goalpost. We're coming to you after another great week of NFL football, a high scoring week of NFL football. But we're going to switch things up today a little bit and start with some breaking news again. Me and Patrick are putting our reporter hats on.
00:00:49
Speaker
Because this morning it broke that Devontae Adams has been traded to the New York Jets for a conditional third round pick Patrick give me your initial thoughts on this trade this reeks of desperation to me uh it feels like this move should have come before they fired um robert sala that you know what i mean it feels like you make a desperate move to add to your football team rather than you know firing a coach feels like this is a move that should have been done before but it was not it was done a week after uh along with a week a week after a monday night football loss where
00:01:29
Speaker
The ah offense actually looked fine to me and it really wasn't you know'm putting pressure on Aaron. Aaron maybe had one of his best games of the season. Garrett Wilson and him are finally starting to to click on offense.
00:01:40
Speaker
And then now you bring in Devontae Adams who clearly, clearly only want to play for or with Aaron Rodgers, I should say. And he wasn't going anywhere but the Jets this whole time. I'm sure his hamstring will be just fine now that he got exactly what he was looking for. But aside from a little bit of a desperate move ah for the Jets, this kind of screams like, you're gonna have too many mouths to feed in New York now. There's gonna be, you're bringing in another big personality and it's it It's Adams goes from one two and four team to another two and four team that kind of obviously different circumstances, but at the same time, they're both kind of dysfunctional right now. And to me, this this is a desperate move from the Jets. And I just don't know if this is what it's going to take to like turn their season around. I don't instantly see them as Super Bowl contenders now that they added the volunteer Adams.
00:02:32
Speaker
No me neither and this comes fresh off of the owners meeting or owners league meeting in atlanta today woody johnson has got quotes galore said status quo is killer you have to go with your instinct and build a culture,
00:02:47
Speaker
And he said he's encouraged by last night's game and excited about Devontae Adams. He'll open
Woody Johnson's Optimism
00:02:52
Speaker
everything up. That's one thing I think that he's maybe right about is that teams are going to have to now game plan for Devontae Adams and Garrett Wilson along with Braylon Allen and Breece Hall. That's the one thing I would say I like about this trade. But my my initial instinct is that last week, Aaron Rodgers said, um you guys seem to think I have all of this power. I don't know why.
00:03:16
Speaker
and then you wrap up or comes out today that. You know rogers you know. Recruited for this when out of his way to make this happen rogers this morning on mac fee says that he heard about it last night i doubt that i think he probably knew this was in the works and this this to me just weeks of arin rogers and it seems to me that this is.
00:03:38
Speaker
keeps adding to the fact that it's Aaron Rodgers in the Jets. You know, it's like when you speak about the Jets, it's not like you're talking about one team. You know, this is the New York Jets football team. It's like this guy and his team. Like, it seems like everything is still revolving around Aaron Rodgers. We're not gonna believe a second of that. You still
Aaron Rodgers and Jets Dynamics
00:03:57
Speaker
have all the power, Aaron.
00:03:58
Speaker
um but I still think this could be a nightmare like it it's it reeks of that Raiders trade where you go to a QB that you have history with and what if Rogers decides that he packs it up after the season and now a big part of this deal was that the Jets are going to take on the rest of Adam's salary incomplete um The condition is that if Adams is in a first team or second team, all pro, then it becomes a second round. Or if he's on the active roster for an AFC championship or Super Bowl, it also gets upgraded. But I i don't think that those things are a possibility right now. I don't, like you said, see this trade making the Jets a Super Bowl contender and AFC title contender. ah And I don't know how this really addresses their issues. Like if this was a Max Crosby,
00:04:47
Speaker
You would be like, wow, I really like the Jets a lot more now. I agree with you a lot more mouths to feed. And Mike Williams is now officially just going to be thrown to like the dumpster, especially after last night's game. and Yeah, that that may have been his last play in a Jets uniform. Just, you know, I thought he blew his D out. It would have been the most Mike Williams ending to that game ever, just getting injured on a deep ball that you you didn't catch and probably should have. If you didn't slip in that game, who knows what would have happened after Zerline probably would have missed another field goal to tie it up.
00:05:21
Speaker
ah But no it's it's erin rogers it feels in and woody johnson it feels like there's no in between like there's no gm there's no contact with the head coaches any of the coaching staff no any management it just feels like woody johnson and erin rogers are running this team and that is dysfunction at its finest man especially in an nfl organization where it's supposed to be top trickle trickle trickle down and it's supposed to go through all facets of your your team and your organization and it's clearly not in new york and for some reason they think that this team is is amazing and it's like this is going to be an instant fix
00:06:01
Speaker
but it's not man we like touching on the game last is night against the bills the bills were far from that was far from an a performance from the bills they're missing their their you know starting running back ray davis kind of just ripped them up they were going up and down the field on what is supposedly a great defensive jets team and And the bills weren't even perfect. So how how can you be so sure and confident in this Jets roster that adding another you know receiver, skill player, it's not to me that's not going to fix everything. You need to you know find a way to work out this with Hassan Radek or a trade. just
Jets vs Bills Recap
00:06:40
Speaker
They need to end that saga because that's going to linger throughout the season and then before you know it, the trade deadline is going to be ah right at the right around the corner and then it's you're going to not get as much value for him because you've waited all this time. Or you could bend the knee and sign a good edge rusher and you clearly need some help on the defensive side.
00:07:01
Speaker
it's it's just weird what's going on in new york but they seem to be very overly confident in this team and i just don't understand what they're seeing um but first i think they should you know just cut greg's theirline and get a new kick that was awful man like between him and tyler bass last night there were a couple huge storylines in this game and misskis were just absolutely a huge part of it sirline miss thirty two field goal ah yard attempt in the fourth and then missed a forty three yard attempt that would have put the jets up twenty three to twenty in the fourth quarter
00:07:35
Speaker
just the the jets could not close last night anything you yeah anytime you see a new coach game you think, OK, people are going to play up for this guy. People are going to be attentive to their details here and really try and get a big win for a coach stepping into his first time NFL head coaching game. And and that was the difference in this game. The Jets could not finish if they did. They would have won this game. You're right. This was not an A plus game by the Bills.
00:08:01
Speaker
In any sense of the word, I think Bill's fans knew that when you have Ray Davis, like just absolutely cooking 97 yards on 20 carries and caught three passes for 55 yards. By the way, Ray Davis is not a rookie name. That is like a guy who has been in the league for 15 years when I see it.
00:08:20
Speaker
And have you seen him too? He looks even older than that. He looks like he's in his 40s. Yeah. that That was a crazy thing from last night. There were so many like quick hits in this game. Obviously first the flag fest. This was a borderline unwatchable game last night over.
00:08:36
Speaker
or 200 yards in penalty in penalties, no play seemed to go ahead without one. Both teams finished with 11 flags each. ah And the refs just embarrassingly made themselves a huge part of this game. We spoke about refing last week, the week before. They've gone weeks where you really don't notice them and it's the best thing ever. And then we're back to kind of one of these weeks where they are just inserting themselves in all of these games wherever they can. like it It felt like we were seeing them on the screen every 15 seconds.
00:09:09
Speaker
And in this game, they're doing it at the worst possible time too. It felt like the, the chunk of their flags and penalties thrown were in the fourth quarter and in a tight one score game. Uh, the one that really stood out to me was the roughing the passer on Aaron Rogers, where Aaron Rogers literally told AJ up. And that's a, that's a tough call. you You see the words coming just tough call, which when Aaron Rogers is telling that to you.
00:09:33
Speaker
Yeah, like there's something wrong and sometimes the refs want to see something that just isn't there. Like that was just not in no ballpark near a roughing the pass call. we I watched it. The play
Jets' Playoff Prospects
00:09:47
Speaker
moved on. I figured it would have been a holding call or something. Never in my mind did it click that they were throwing that flag.
00:09:52
Speaker
for roughing the passer, extends the drive 15 yards, and then, um you know, eventually Zerline missed the the field goal, so it didn't really matter, but it's just putting yourself into these games in a prime time divisional matchup, which, you know, if the Jets win that game, they they take the AFC East lead because they have the tiebreaker over the Bills, yeah and you're just, I i hate that the refs are doing this, and it was just so annoying. And and then you get on the ticky tacky stuff,
00:10:20
Speaker
I don't know, man, you got to have an understanding and feel for the game. And if you maybe want to set a precedent in the first quarter, I think that's the time you do it. If you, if you're feeling like you, you know, you're, you're excited to throw some flags tonight. All right, do it in the first quarter, set a precedent and then get out of the way for the second half and let the boys, you know, take care of it on the field.
00:10:40
Speaker
this game it was a complete opposite where they just they got bored almost it was like we we haven't done enough in this game let's make sure prime time we get our faces on tv and it was it was brutal yeah it was brutal and and rogers i can't wait to see the finds he gets from that press conference after he's dropping south park quotes like it's He was absolutely unhinged. This is the first time I've actually seen him in like a real outfit either. He had like a suit and a nice dress shirt on. I just can't understand this Jets team because if you look at the game score, like at the box score or how they performed, you get Breeze Hall and Aaron Rodgers, probably their best game of the season so far. It was definitely Rodgers best game of the season. He's 23 for 35, 294, two touchdowns, and then that interception at the end.
00:11:27
Speaker
Hall goes 113, 56 receiving, Garrett Wilson 104 yards in a TD, um Lazard finished 114 yards in a touchdown. If the Jets can't win games when their offensive players are doing that against the Bills team that is underperforming,
00:11:45
Speaker
There's no chance that they are one of those upper echelon teams in the AFC like if if that is one of your best outputs of the season and you lose a game 23 to 20 and you're not even putting up like over 20 points, then that is just like should be writing on the wall for what this Jets team is. They're just not good enough.
00:12:04
Speaker
Yeah, i'm I'm full in on on what you just said. Everything
Cowboys' Struggles at Home
00:12:07
Speaker
about that game last night, I watched, I go, the Jets look good. I go, the Jets look better than they have in maybe the entire season. And they're doing it in a perfect spot against a divisional rival prime time game. And they still couldn't win the game. So I'm like, yeah how can I feel more confident about this Jets team after you It wasn't an A plus performance, but I would say that was a minus. You know what I mean? It was the only negatives were the special teams and the defense probably could have been a little bit better, but the offense was kind of humming out there and they look good. And like you said, you still only put up 20 points.
00:12:42
Speaker
And it's just not good enough that those things are not going to get you to where, you know, Woody Johnson thinks this team is at. It's just not possible to me. And like, I know I'm not going to say they're not going to make the playoffs because I want to say it, but, you know, I don't know how the offense is going to look. And, you know, maybe they get Reddick back sooner than later.
00:13:01
Speaker
or they get a ah valuable piece in return for Hassan Radek. But yeah, I mean, you can't feel confident about this Jets team and you can't tell me that they're guaranteed to make the playoffs at 2-4 with a 40-year-old quarterback. who By the way, you know we'll get into it now, I guess. The only reason this game is even close is because you hit some insane Hail Mary right at the end of halftime to make it as such and it was a 10 point game. They made it down at three and a half. But without that, you you lose this game by 10 points as well. So absolutely like it. And it's very clear that Aaron Rodgers is the best Hail Mary thrower in the NFL. Like that much to me is absolutely clear. I was trying to figure out kind of like why I think it's because the ball always seems to fall in the exact same
00:13:46
Speaker
Part of the end zone like alan wasard said i've i've you know done this a lot I know exactly where that ball is going every time and it's right at the front of that end zone Um and right, you know a perfect jump ball scenario calls back to when me and patrick back in 2015 I want to say ah Went down to Detroit for a hockey tournament and me and Patrick were at that Lions Green Bay game the infamous Hail Mary throw I've never seen a stadium turn on its head so far so fast the Lions lost the game on the On the last play there and I thought we were in serious danger for our lives But
Mike McCarthy's Future
00:14:22
Speaker
man, what a throwback last night with that Hail Mary
00:14:25
Speaker
Yeah, it was, uh, I remember that game. That was cause it ended and then they call the 15 yard face mask penalty. So there was zeros on the clock. Last play of the game. Um, our parents wanted to leave. We were, we were w what we watched this from basically the concourse while I was like on the top of the steps at the end of the section.
00:14:43
Speaker
And I just go, we got to wait. He's got to wait. Like you don't know what's going to happen. And then, uh, yeah, Rogers buys time buys time. And then, Oh, I forget his for, it was another Rogers. He hit the tight end. Who was just exactly like he said, like he was just kind of trailing the play, trailing the play, and then just snuck in the front of the end zone, jumps up and catches it. And then you could hear pin drop in that stadium. Luckily we had some lions gear on. So we were not a subject of like their anger, but, uh,
00:15:11
Speaker
that's always the place you're in a waste stadium you go to the team shop the first second you get there and you buy a t-shirt or something like I after seeing what happened to that commanders fan with the Ravens fan attacking him on the street this weekend I'm not wearing my jersey I could be in Buffalo for a Finn's dolphins game and I and there's a high chance I'm not wearing my fins gear Yeah, that's where you like you go in in Buffalo and you throw a couple jackets on and then it's just like, okay, I don't know. No one's going to expect. I just think I'm a neutral observer and I can get out of here. Well, just enjoying myself and not have to stress about some insane bills fan or, or Ravens fan or lie. So whoever team, but just stay safe out there. Stay safe. Um, yeah. Well, another quick hit there. Isn't the Aaron Rodgers is the king of shitty looks on his face caught on national television. Like it it is.
00:16:02
Speaker
15 to 20 times a game that you get him rolling his eyes motherfucking somebody on the sideline like being very angry. um The difference in that game also Buffalo finished three of four in the red zone while the Jets went one of four like that.
00:16:16
Speaker
that play where Breece Hall broke out that like 30 yard run and then doesn't cut inside and just gets dragged down on the one. And then it gets called back from a penalty so they can't get in the end zone. And then they missed the field goal. Like that was just the turning point in that game. And yeah, the Jets just weren't good enough. They didn't finish good enough. And that's, you're not going to win football games like that. No. And poor special teams play like we saw basically on both teams as well. Tyler Bass missed the field goal, missed the point after.
00:16:45
Speaker
It's insane. And that should drive Bill's fans and Jet's fans ah crazy. Zirlan should not have a job. It's so easy to find a good kicker in the in this era of football. There's probably 30 Brandon Aubries just waiting to get an opportunity. These French soccer, pro soccer guys who just have a leg for days, it it blows my mind. And I don't know why they they're going to keep Zirlan around. like He lost him that game.
00:17:11
Speaker
He could have finished in the red zone. It just
Lions' Dominance in NFC North
00:17:13
Speaker
it drives me bonkers that this stuff is going on. And it's it wasn't a one time thing, especially with Zerline. Maybe Bass has you know some built up. ah yeah yeah yeahline a smaller later a year Zerline's one of the worst kickers in the NFL this year. And you know he he just lost them a game. So I don't understand why he still ah has a job with the Jets.
00:17:34
Speaker
me neither um but with that we will move off the monday night game off the news just so much going around both of those teams right now there's a big win for the bills to kind of silence you know a slide there on a two game slide there um but speaking about stopping the slide Sunday Night Football, an awful, awful game. ah But the Bengals 17, Giants 7, there's nothing worse than a prime time under game. This was slow, plenty of mistakes. um But the Bengals, I would say, survived kind of complete disaster.
00:18:07
Speaker
by losing by not losing this game and Patrick something I don't know what it is something about this game tells me again that Cincinnati is like still alive for some reason I know I said last week like this team's dead like I really wanted to believe it but for some reason like it's just sneaking in the back of my brain that the Bengals are gonna rip off like six wing wins in a row here and suddenly be back in the mix not for the division in any sense but for a wild card I don't hate it if if there is a two and four team that's going to make a run. I feel like Cincinnati is at the top of my list. Like I i feel better about the Bengals than I do the Jets right now. um Maybe that's a bit of delusion. Like ah maybe that's crazy. But ah the Bengals, it feels like they can turn it on in a second, especially when the offense is clicking the way it is. Like they just have to shore up that defense. And I mean, I know you're playing a Giants team missing their number one receiver, missing their number one running back and you held in the seven points.
00:19:08
Speaker
That's got to give you some confidence though for a team that's just been getting shredded Week in and week out to hold a team of seven points on national TV on the road to It's got to give them confidence and I know burrow and since he wasn't Wasn't a perfect offensive performance by any means but it was enough to get a win and you know You still saw some production out of Jamar Chase and T Higgins. They both went over 70 yards receiving and
Steelers' Victory Over Raiders
00:19:32
Speaker
Uh, and it's, it looks like chase Brown has, you know, really solidified himself as that number one back on this team. Um, but yeah, it's, it was since he's in that spot, man. And they got to keep winning this, these easy games because they haven't really gotten the AFC North play yet. They've had the one game against the, uh, the Ravens. And I believe they're playing the Browns this week. So if they can kind of just chip away and start to win some games in the division. Yeah. Like we can really start talking about.
00:20:00
Speaker
them coming back and being a legitimate wild card threat. But as of right now, they still got to prove it to me. I'm not sold yet. Yeah, I'm not sold either. I think they need to absolutely demolish the Browns next week. And then I think they go into the buy after that. So if you get two wins, you go into the buy, they get a bit more healthy. ah The defense is able to kind of get into shape more. You're right. I'm not completely sold. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up kind of down the stretch being in the mix on the giant side.
00:20:46
Speaker
Again, a Danny Dimes pick and a bad one at that probably ends up being the difference in this one. Like even if they get a field goal on that drive and then are able to get the ball back only down seven at the end, you really could have seen this game maybe going a different way.
00:21:01
Speaker
and the Giants are still winless at home in three games and they've only scored one touchdown and that was Tyrone Tracy's first career touchdown and Tracy's been good they need Singletary back like this is ah a game planning thing game planning for Singletary is a lot different they punted four times in the first half and just were really missing Malik neighbors like that is without neighbors. This offense is very one dimensional and Danny Dimes is asked to throw the ball 41 times like he did. It's just not a winning recipe.
00:21:33
Speaker
No, and Daniel Jones, you know, going to add to the insult stats here now moves to one in 13 all time in prime time game. So I think he's overtaken. He's the new Kirk. He's the new Kirk cousins. Prime time. Daniel Jones is not to be bet on. That's for sure. He's just a horrible quarterback when the lights come on. I guess this this one also stood out to me. You know, definitely some poor play. And absolutely when you don't have Malik neighbors,
00:22:00
Speaker
It's an easy easy defense to take easy offense to cover on the defense. Slayton is just a deep threat. And then, yeah, Wandale Robinson is running sideline to sideline. Brian Dable is a madman. He is an he is the new Staley. he He is a madman. I don't know if ah management has already told him like you are coaching for your job right now, but he was coaching like he was about to be fired. He just couldn't stop going for it on fourth down. you're yeah It's seven nothing. You're in a seven nothing game in the second half and he's going for a fourth and two from his own 38. Are you insane? The back of running back.
00:22:39
Speaker
Exactly. Well, in the place that they're running on them it are horrible and they they got lucky. They got the one turnover ah off of the fourth failed fourth down conversion, which they kept them alive in this game. But he just couldn't stop going for it. And it it literally looked like he was desperate to keep a job. And I don't know. Maybe Dable has had this reputation and this is what he's been doing. And I just haven't been paying attention to it. But I was shocked by some of his decisions in this game.
Ravens' Playoff Potential
00:23:07
Speaker
coached a bit more conservatively, which we kind of, we, we moan about sometimes, but there are moments to be a conservative head coach and in a tight ball game with like a team that is definitely more talented than you like the Bengals, you have to play and conservatively because they're going to roast you on it. They turn it over on downs twice in the second half. Greg Joseph missed two field goal attempts, like another terrible, terrible kicker.
00:23:31
Speaker
they they really need a new kicker in New York, both New York teams, I would say, ah and and just some puzzling decisions from Dable. You're right, he's coaching like he has his job on the line, like he's constantly like frantic on the sidelines. um One thing I want to ask you about, you see,
00:23:48
Speaker
uh, Malik neighbors was at the Travis Scott concert in New York. Did you see that? You hear about this? I did. I think I saw him in the club as well one night, uh, but apparently he's not didn't pass the the concussion test. Maybe they had a fellow hurt us last week, Damien. They're taking a little more seriously player safety. It has to be, that's the only reason. Yeah. They both said we'll keep that in house when asked about it by reporters. But man, just another sign of kind of dysfunction in, in New York, some bad,
00:24:15
Speaker
like organizational, whatever it is due diligence there that that neighbors isn't in a library for for a week in between those games. Yeah, not this is a head scratching game from the Giants because I really liked the Giants in this game heading into it. And I thought that there was really going to be something there. But again, they just got out coached. They got outplayed. They got out game planned.
00:24:37
Speaker
Um, they really need to bounce back here and and they have the Eagles next Sunday. So Eagles are kind of not looking great, but that'll be a revenge game for Saquon. You know, he's going to get up for that. Um, and they're on, I think they're on the road next week too. So big, big gut check time for the Giants for Cincy. Just kind of keep it rolling. You got to smash the Browns next week and then go into the bye week. That's pretty much all I had from this one.
00:25:02
Speaker
Yeah, ah actually, the the the since he's got a bit of a gauntlet before the buy, they got a couple more games. They go browse Browns, Eagles, Raiders, Ravens, Chargers, Buy. I don't know who I'm thinking about. if they can Maybe the Steelers. If they could find a way to just get it back, so they're two and four right now. They beat the Browns, beat the Eagles. if they They can be one game above 500 going into the buy, then it's then I'm a believer in the Bengals.
Buccaneers vs Saints Analysis
00:25:48
Speaker
just get absolutely demolished for a fourth consecutive loss at home you talk about insult stats I've got some for you Patrick they have allowed a hundred and sixty seven points over those four games see if they can actually pull that off.
00:26:02
Speaker
That is the third most in a four game home stretch in NFL history. This was the Cowboys worst home loss since 1998. And they are the first team since 2000 to trail by 14 or more points at halftime in four consecutive games on their home field. They were getting booed off the field heading into half. What is going on with the Cowboys, man?
00:26:29
Speaker
It's not the Jerry's world we grew up with, Damien. It's it's just lost its luster. On his 82nd birthday, no less. This was just the last thing I'm sure Jerry had in mind. it's just ah You're in that prime time spot in the Fox game of the week.
00:26:44
Speaker
and they just got pumped man it wasn't even close right away the lines were just kind of going down the field ah and then Dallas I was like okay we're in for a bit of a shootout this game you know 34 31 this game could go either way yeah quickly I realized that that was Dallas was out of this game so quickly it was it was disgusting and now you got Jerry Jones, he's not even considering, not yeah he's not even considering it, Damien, firing Mike McCarthy mid-season, he's not considering it, so I'm sure that's- He's losing his mind, man. Well, he's 82 years old. Did you see the radio clip from from yesterday, late at night? Oh, man. Dude, it's like a cowboy's radio station in Dallas who is like respectfully grilling him about like what is going on here, Jerry.
00:27:31
Speaker
and he snapped more than I've ever seen Jerry Jones snap in my entire life. The quote was it, y'all really think you're gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all the things I've done wrong? I'll find somebody else to ask the questions. Like,
Eagles' Narrow Win and Sirianni's Criticism
00:27:46
Speaker
threatening guy's jobs on radio programs for asking him what is wrong with this team that is terrible at home. Like, it is such dysfunction over there in Dallas.
00:27:57
Speaker
This was a proven game we talked about last week for kind of both teams. Like yeah the Lions will see if there's still this like juggernaut, like absolute Super Bowl contender team. And for Dallas, it's like, OK, was that a bad start to the season? ah Have they kind of shaken that off? This was embarrassing on so many different fronts for Dallas.
00:28:18
Speaker
Yeah, I understand you got some injuries on defense and you never really were regarded as a highly, like a top defense in the NFL. Michael Parsons is a stud back there, but aside from that, it's an average at best defense. You're missing some guys. So I wasn't expecting a ton of the defense. It's the offense that has really shocked me this year. And they've just been letting them down. It's, it feels just so one dimensional out there.
00:28:43
Speaker
you You don't re-sign Tony Pollard, you let him walk, you bring in a ah way past his prime, Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, probably not where they thought he was going to be at this point in in his career and season, because he's he's not a starting running back yet. He's not. He is a backup and it shows out there.
00:29:02
Speaker
And it feels like they're just force feeding CD lamb. And if CD lamb's having an off game, they have no secondary option. Like what happened to Jake Ferguson? Cause they had a good thing going there last year. Felt like that was Dak safety blanket. If he couldn't get it to CD lamb, uh, Ferguson had three catches for 11 yards in this game was only targeted four times. And he has no touchdowns on the season.
00:29:25
Speaker
They have no running game. It's just their offense is the more concerning part of the Cowboys for me, like the defense to whatever. hey They've never been known for a defense. This ah offense has to figure something out quick because you just signed back to 60 million dollars a year for four more years. And he figured out who terrible interceptions like like interceptions that that will get to the the Patriots game later, like interceptions you would expect out of Drake May or like a first year rookie quarterback.
00:29:54
Speaker
They had five turnovers in this one, two interceptions and three fumbles. This team is not good enough to play and win games with five turnovers. And Dak says, I'm not the guy to hit the panic button. Maybe you should be, man. Maybe you should be, because this is, if ever, a time to absolutely panic in Dallas. There was literally nothing to comment on that was good from Dallas in this game, from the first snap onwards.
00:30:22
Speaker
ah And this is maybe the best time for a team to have a bye week so far this season. The
Bears' Performance in London
00:30:27
Speaker
Cowboys go into the bye, albeit on a terrible loss, but clearly they need some of these guys back. Like when Brandon cooks going out, like pretty much turns your offense into dust. That is not a good sign for your offense. Like an aging receiver who is kind of near the end of his days is making that much of an impact.
00:30:46
Speaker
then you really have to look kind of in the mirror here if you're Dallas and figure out what's going on because at this point I don't even see them as a playoff team, Patrick. got No, they they have no but nothing they they beat they beat a Steelers team that just couldn't produce offense and they they won on the last play of the game they beat a horrible Cleveland Browns team and Like you know, I mean you're three and three and all your losses you're getting crushed You're you're not even in these games the Saints put up 40 plus on you if the Saints Saints have won lost four games in a row it the Cowboys
00:31:23
Speaker
Yes. Like you said, very, very good time for bye week. What might even say there, they they've won the bye week. Atta went on to their, to their record. But man, it's, it's really bad over there. And it, it does feel like Mike McCarthy can go at any, any moment, especially I didn't realize Jerry was snapping on the radio as well. Like that is, yeah, that just adds fuel to the fire over there in Dallas.
00:31:45
Speaker
No kidding. We'll talk about the Lions quick here. But like man, from the Lions' perspective, this was just business as usual for this Lions team this year. They are firing on all cylinders. ah it like in a Another game where golf doesn't have to do a lot, like 18 for 25, 315 yards. And he still comes out with three TDs, Montgomery three TDs. They go 334 receiving, 184 rushing. like Each week, the Lions game plan seems to be getting even better.
00:32:13
Speaker
We've had no dang Campbell kerfuffles this year. Like it is just smooth sailing over there. They're doing hook and ladder place to penny school. They're sending, you know, Dan skipper out as a receiver, just to just to rub it in the ref's face and the Cowboys face for that brutal two point conversion. They got screwed on last year. um Just everything was great from the Lions in this game, except for an awful.
00:32:38
Speaker
awful injury to Aiden Hutchinson. This was one of those like Kevin Ware ones where you look at it like 50 times because it's like a car crash. You can't stop looking at Aiden Hutchinson's legs snap in half. He was leading deep boy odds and they and that is a huge blow for the Lions. Part of me wonders if they're going to really try and trade for Hassan Radekir. I don't know if that's like bad mojo to add to a team that's been like moving fast, but they're going to have to fill that hole. Like that is a gaping hole that is going to be left by him.
00:33:08
Speaker
Yeah, man, this this game was it it was going perfectly for the Lions. Everything was going so well. They could do whatever they wanted on ah offense. And they were just scoring, laughing, laughing
Packers' Strong Season
00:33:20
Speaker
at the Cowboys on the road, having a ball, looking like a the best team in the NFC and then tragedy strikes. And Aiden Hutchinson is carted off with a fractured tibia and fibula. And he's out four to six months.
00:33:35
Speaker
ah That is, I guess you can make the argument that it's better than ah than tearing an ACL or and ah ah something along those lines, especially if it was a clean break or fracture. But this, this hurts this line steam badly because I wouldn't say they have a great defense and he was clearly the, the leader, the engine, everything goes through him on the defensive side of the ball. So without him, man, it's like he said, it's not a crazy thing for them to go out and trade for his song. They have to do something I think before the trade deadline to address that defensive line because yeah.
00:34:08
Speaker
They're OK and in, you know, linebacker and corners and safeties, they're OK there, but it's that defensive line. it It's very weak without Aiden Hutchinson there. And for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations, you're going to need to bolster that line a bit. And it's just it's I feel so bad for him because he was having a breakout of year of all breakout years, like you said, leading a defensive player of the year. Odds leading the league in sacks. Yeah, it's especially on ah on an injury like that, where he was actually getting a sack.
00:34:38
Speaker
and yeah as as just tough for the lines but you know they they look as good as they have
Cardinals' Consistency Issues
00:34:44
Speaker
in in ah this season right now yeah and they have a huge huge game on the road against the vikings next week the nfc north is like by and far the Best division in football right now I think they lead the league in winning percentage like the Green Bay is fourth in that division at four and two and Like and an absolute dogfight there their point differential is plus 41 green bases and their fourth in that division like it We could see maybe like three or four teams from that division make the playoffs which is crazy to say um But yeah, they're gonna have to fill that hole
00:35:21
Speaker
And maybe this is a good transition point because we can start with this about Steelers 32 Raven or Raiders 13. I'm going to start with pushgate here. Max Crosby comes to the sideline another bad week for the Raiders and he full on shoves. Mike Caldwell. He tweets out later. That's a love push. Stop reaching week a week after a very impassioned week in the locker room.
00:35:48
Speaker
and i don't know where this came from but like i am seeing a thousand tweets on my timeline about the l trading for max crosby here i don't i don't know where it like i guess max crosby's from michigan yeah i played at eastern michigan i know i didn't know where he was from i know he played at eastern michigan in college he He is the only skilled player. ah we Brock Bowers, I always kind of forget about him because the ah offense is just so bad. He's fine. But like the actual only good player, elite player on this team is Max Crosby. So yeah I think it's more of like people are starting to get behind him and understanding how bad of a situation he's in in Vegas. And they're just saying, you know, free Max Crosby, free him, free him.
00:36:30
Speaker
And, you know, Devontae Adams gets whatever he wants. So why why don't you just give it to Max Crosby, let him get out of there and then just fully commit to the rebuild. Because I can't remember if we've talked about this before, but the the Raiders have just tiptoed around rebuilding for the past 10 years, it feels like. You brought Groplo in there, you had Carr, you have Minshew, you have now you got Aiden O'Connell. It's just... When was the last time the Raiders had a good quarterback?
00:36:56
Speaker
Uh, good question. Nothing just popped into my mind. I think they had like one, one good year of Derek Carr. Derek Carr had like maybe one good year where it was like, okay, we'll take the Raiders seriously. I think they made the playoffs,
Steelers' Continued Momentum
00:37:11
Speaker
but aside from that, it's, uh,
00:37:13
Speaker
That's that's a good one because nothing jumped into my mind when you said that. An old Carson Palmer in 2011, 2012. This is insane. Like if you go down the list, like EJ manual, 2017, Matt McGloin, 2013, 2016, Carson Palmer, Jason Campbell, 2010, 2011, Kyle Baller, 2011, Bruce Gradkowski, twenty nine it it actually might have been Jamarcus Russell, which is really saying something.
00:37:42
Speaker
No, well the Jamarcus Russell is just the worst boss of all time. So I think they're they're just so scarred from Jamarcus Russell that they refuse to draft a quarterback in like the top 10 range in the first round. Like they're just scared. Commit to the rebuild, man. Because right now they're in.
00:37:59
Speaker
You could ah it it might be the worst spot in football, like where they are as a team. They don't have a quarterback. and that You know, for some reason, they think Aiden O'Connell is is a player in this league. I can tell you he is not. ah it's It's just bad, man. So I think it's more people are feeling bad for Max Crosby. that I think that's got to be where it is because I don't think we've heard the Raiders mention anything about that. And Antonio Pierce is not a head coach in this league.
00:38:25
Speaker
He really isn't, man. that He got his ass outcoached in this one. This was a kind of a Tomlin Masterclass, I would say, this game. like The Steelers came in with a great game plan. ah It seemed like it was a home game for them. like I think this is something that, with teams moving to Vegas more and more, like the MLB is going to be there. I think the NBA gets there within two to three years.
00:38:48
Speaker
I think there's gonna be more and more of a problem for Vegas teams like they just don't have home games maybe other than the Golden Knights who have like because of their early success built something up like this like with this new stadium like it's just a destination
Ravens as Super Bowl Contenders
00:39:01
Speaker
for fans like it sounded like a Steelers home game on third down on fourth down they were probably going to silent count like the Falcons Yeah. i Yes. Vegas is one of those destinations where you kind of get screwed because people book it off as like a vacation destination. They have the weekend there, but I think this is more reflection on the Steelers. I, not many teams can pull that off. I think the Cowboys can think maybe like the Packers.
00:39:26
Speaker
But it's the Steelers fans are traveling their national brand in America. So they don't really have many road games if ever. ah But yeah, Tom one smooth game. ah It was nice to, you know, not have to wait till the last drive of the game to know the result of this one. So it was clean. And now you're just bringing in more.
00:39:47
Speaker
ah ah Additional nonsense starting Ross. This is another breaking news. It appears that Russell Wilson is listed as number one quarterback on the depth chart and he will be taking first team reps throughout the week for no reason, man, for no reason.
00:40:03
Speaker
Justin Fields is not turning the ball over. There's no reason to replace him. The Steelers are not a Super Bowl contender. They're in a good spot at four and two. And I don't think you need to mess with what's going on, especially now you're going into a prime time spot against the jets this weekend. And you're going to just put Russell Wilson out there. It's a nightmare. It's a nightmare. He's going to get killed, man. Justin Fields, his legs.
00:40:26
Speaker
they it wasn't like they that's the reason they won this game but it's the reason they continue to put up offense and he's got another two rushing touchdowns this weekend and he extends plays and he can avoid max crosby when he's coming at him unblocked it's Russell Wilson can't move. I don't care if he has a better arm or has better touch. Look at the offense. The Steelers are running, man. It's not a pass first offense. It's you gotta run the ball and extend plays. And I don't think Russell Wilson can do either. Yeah, I part of me wonders like big brains this and is like, are they sending Russ out as a sacrificial lamb on Monday night football to be like, listen, everybody can see him get destroyed on national TV.
00:41:09
Speaker
And then we can quickly go back to Justin Fields because you're right. Like there was so
Buccaneers' Team Performance Analysis
00:41:13
Speaker
many videos going around Twitter where the pocket would collapse on Fields and he would be able to get his way out of it. He would get a first down. He would get a chunk play seven, eight yards. And those are the things that Russ can't do. He just can't move his body like that. And you're right. This is a run first offense. Make that your identity all the way up to the quarterback.
00:41:33
Speaker
Like it screw it like just make your team a running team and speaking of running I'm gonna I'm gonna do something so that you don't have to do it here and don't get accused of bias here I'm tired of people saying that Najee Harris is trash like I'm I am tired of it Like they declined his fifth year option and and it seemed like he was playing with a point to prove on Sunday He has over a thousand yards in each of his first three seasons only six other running backs have done that in the last 25 years and Some of the names, Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, and Ladanian Tomlinson to name a few. So he gets 14 carries, 106 yards and a touchdown. And, and I think this was the spark where it's like, everybody should be like, yes, this is a good running back. There are so many teams that would kill to have a Najee Harris on their team. And I just think he gets trashed on way, way too much.
00:42:24
Speaker
Yeah, and he's durable, man. The the best availability is availability and he just doesn't get injured. He doesn't miss games and he's not Derek Henry, but he's a bigger back that I've mentioned before. He wears teams down as the game goes on. Yeah, I wish he was a little faster. Don't get me wrong, but his athleticism, like he's hurtling guys. He's stiff, arming them through the turf. He can do whatever he wants out there.
00:42:47
Speaker
Just needs a little bit of a better ah offensive line sometimes. But like ah you said, 160 yards, he only had 14 carries. like That's efficiency. He um it was averaging 7.6 yards per carry. It was beautiful to see him really get going this week. And I hope it continues throughout the rest of the season. Yeah, me too. um But I think we'll move off that game. TJ Watt, two force fumbles and had two tackles for loss. Just another dominant game from him. um But we'll move to what was an exciting game and kind of exactly how we thought it was going to go. Ravens 30, Commanders 23. To me, this was a a perfect measuring stick game for both teams. The Ravens are on a different level. They are Super Bowl contenders and they are a different class in the NFL. But the commanders are really right kind of on the cusp of it. They are a playoff team and they are just kind of ah just almost not on that next level.
00:43:41
Speaker
and to me that was exactly what this game showed yeah two teams in different spots but it both like have positive outlooks and should be encouraged by what they saw baltimore i mean it it speaks for itself the little owen to start shaky i'm sure there was some concern there after you lose to the the vegas raiders which is It's just insane. And you know now they've won four in a row, and they're able to do whatever they want on offense. For a while, I thought it was just going to be
Eagles' Win Overshadowed by Controversy
00:44:09
Speaker
kind of a Derek Henry-led offense. Well, now Lamar's throwing the ball. Derek Henry's running the ball. ah Lamar had over 300 yards in the air, a touchdown, an interception that was not on hand. Mark Andrews kind of had the stone hands there for a sec. And then Derek Henry um just hitting them in the face, 24 rushes, 132 yards, two touchdowns.
00:44:28
Speaker
And like I just said, just wears teams down. And this is the thing that Baltimore has been missing in the playoffs. So I'm really encouraged by Baltimore. I think they are as good of a team in the NFL right now as there is. like I think you I wouldn't be shocked if someone put them in a number one in a power ranking. I would have no problem with that yeah ah in Washington. Yeah, man, encouraging. They they look like a playoff team and not a Super Bowl contending team, which the Ravens are. Commanders look like a ah ah playoff team and Jaden Daniels can hang in there.
00:44:58
Speaker
They had the one miss field goal where it's like this game could look a little closer than it was. Maybe they cover the spread, ah but it's it's encouraging for them. And they're missing Brian Robinson to like their lead back. That's a pretty.
00:45:09
Speaker
uh, important part of their offense. And we saw they struggled to run the ball against Baltimore, but encouraging signs from both. And I mean, Baltimore is just, they're on a different level right now, winning four in a row. And they just, they're as good as they've looked under Lamar Jackson. Yeah. Somebody said it was a pick your poison offense. You hear that, that kind of phrase go around in the NFL lot, but this was like the perfect example of that. Z flowers has like a career day, 132 yards. Mark Andrews finally gets going, gets a touchdown.
00:45:38
Speaker
Lamar goes 323 and a touchdown. um Henry leads the NFL in touchdowns right now. He's the first player to rush for a TD in each of his first six games since Tomlinson in 2005, and they had scoring drives of 93 and 94 yards. like They could move this ball up the field. We we kind of saw that they still have problems on past defense. like That's their only weakness, and that was something we kind of outlined in our preview of this game.
00:46:07
Speaker
um Daniel still did well, 269 yards and two touchdowns. Terry McLaren's really coming into
Browns' Offensive Struggles
00:46:13
Speaker
his own. But they're still pretty porous, I would say, on their past defense. But that can get better throughout a season. And yeah, for the commanders, they really miss Bryan Robinson. Like, just 52 yards on the ground. Daniels was the leading rusher with 22 yards on six carries. Echler was kind of back to his old ways, 21 yards on nine carries. um But you're right. Like, the commanders are just kind of a little bit little bit away they lose Jonathan Allen for the rest of the season with a peck that is gonna kill them like ah a it's another team I could see us on reddit going to is the commanders like if they kind of start like kickstart this retool and they're like alright this is a team we have a ton of cap space
00:46:52
Speaker
We can kind of start to build towards the playoffs here. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up there and they get to have the Panthers next Sunday. So I think things are going to continue to roll for the commanders and and really both of these teams. I think this was a one of those games where you pull positives from both.
00:47:08
Speaker
Yeah, Jonathan Allen out for the season on an already below average defense. That's going to hurt. And they really need to shore that up. Dan Quinn, like you should be a little bit better on defense or defense minded head coach. you know But like you said, you can figure that out. They're in the driver's seat for the division. Like they control their own destiny right now. They have the lead and they they look like the best team in the division. We'll touch on the Eagles in a bit. um you're You're Derek Henry, and MVP.
00:47:34
Speaker
Damien sent me a text not too long ago. I believe it's two weeks ago. ah Derek Henry was what, 200 to one for MVP? Yeah, plus 20,000. Yeah, he is now down to 50 to one. Oh, I'm such a fucking an idiot. guy I talked about it.
Packers vs Cardinals Recap
00:47:51
Speaker
This is that this one's on me. I talked him out. I just said they don't give it to running backs, no matter how good of a season they've had. But if the Ravens continue at this pace and you know what I mean? Lamar starts to falter a little bit, maybe starts throwing some interceptions.
00:48:04
Speaker
He hasn't shown any signs that he's going to do that. But Derek Henry, yeah, like it's it's real. If this continues and he's able to stay healthy, the stats that he's putting up, man, it's it's pretty undeniable. And you'd like to see him maybe get in the right the receiving game to boost those MVP numbers. But ah it's very encouraging what we're seeing in both. And like Zae Flowers gets going in like he becomes an elite number one receiver. There is another threat on ah offense. So yeah, Baltimore is humming right now.
00:48:33
Speaker
yes they are let's move to a 50 burger we talked about how great offense was this weekend buccaneers 51 saints 27 this was the biggest roller coaster of a game all of sunday the bucks throw a 50 burger on the saints after fleeing Tampa Bay early for hurricane milton the first half in this game was insane we get a Godwin TD Antoine Widfield gets a 58-yard fumble return where Chris Olave gets knocked out of the game with a concussion and then they get a field goal for a 17-nothing start. Then the Saints score 20 and unanswered points in the second quarter. They go field goal. Shaheed gets a 54-yard punt return. Another field goal.
00:49:14
Speaker
A guy named Bub Means gets a touchdown for the Saints on Rattlers first TD pass and all of a sudden it's 20 to 17. That was after a pair of interceptions by Baker in this one. um But then after that, like Kamara adds a TD Bucks answer with a Sean Tucker TD 24 20 or 27 24. Then it was just domination from the Bucks in the second half.
00:49:37
Speaker
complete domination. This was the Chris Godwin game. Mike Evans had two receptions on the first draft for 34 yards, and then it was all Godwin. 11 receptions, 125 yards, two touchdowns, and did a lot of it after after the catch, especially on that one touchdown. I looked away because I saw the reception and just thought, okay, first down,
00:49:58
Speaker
go to another game, look
Steelers vs Raiders Strategic Win
00:49:59
Speaker
back at the TV. He's at the five. He's in the end zone. I was like, how did you do that? ah Very impressive performance by the Bucks. You know, didn't get down on themselves after giving up a 17 nothing lead. I kind of felt like all the momentum was in New Orleans favor, especially at the the Superdome. But man, they just turn it around. I saw I heard someone say like, yeah, Bulls just kind of realized he's playing a rookie quarterback and then just started blitzing them. Yeah, pretty much exactly what happened. But Uh, it's a game that like you said, you got to win these division games, especially in the NFC South, which is always a crap shoot. Uh, and, and it was a message like they sent a message. This game was going on forever, right? It felt like they were almost halfway through the Steelers game. And this, this game was still going on, putting up 50 points. Um, the saints, yeah this, your fraud, you were a fraud two and oh, it's over. Your dream is done. I know Spencer Rattler was at quarterback, not Derek Carr, but
00:50:53
Speaker
This team is just not what I think people thought they were going to be with this Clint Kubiak offense. I thought i thought but you know maybe they're excited. I'm too early. I think we did. I think i think we thought you know like Clint Kubiak was some the next one, the the prodigal son. he he's He's reinvented offense. He's a CFL, and NFL. He's combining them. He's a guru. But it's like, OK, yeah, the film exists. And they just figured it out. ah But yeah, Spencer Rattler, like I didn't think he was horrible. I thought he was OK.
00:51:23
Speaker
far more comfortable than I thought he would look. like he He went 22 for 40. Alan even said after the game, like he had to do way more than he should have because of our mistakes on other parts of the field. 243 yards, you know he had two costly interceptions. like That was where he kind of looked like a rookie. But for the most part, I think for rookie quarterbacks, you look for calmness in a first start. like You don't want somebody scrambling around and really looking like they're surviving for their life out there. And that really wasn't the case. like he he could fuck around and like find himself a starting job in the NFL. Like we with backups and rookies like that, like if you can put together a few good games, you will buy yourself time based on how much tape he has in college. Uh, I think that they also have no time to dwell. Like they go Broncos on Thursday night. So we're going to get Rattler in prime time. That'll be like another huge, huge test against the defense. That's pretty good. I'll be it. They'll be without Pat's retain. Yeah. And if we're talking injuries, the saints are just,
00:52:21
Speaker
One, like them and the Chargers to me, are they're just the two most banged up teams. We mentioned Olave already. You know, Carr's out, Taysom Hill's out. They're missing their center and two starting guards on their offensive line. Tyron Matthews injured as well. It's like, come on. It's tough. They're in such a brutal spot. Spencer Rattler, he shows arm talent. He screams like if he can't find a starting job, this guy's going to be a backup for 10 years in the NFL, which is a hell of a job, man. Congrats to you. Dennis Allen, just
Ravens' Offensive Depth
00:52:52
Speaker
I don't understand. Saints are another team where it's just like, you're always mediocre. You're always mediocre and you never change anything. So how do you expect anything to change on the field with your record? He now moves to 26 and 51 as a head coach in the NFL. ah One of the worst, one of the worst out there. Just yeah flies under the radar every single year. um But yeah, I don't know. and For his job right now, he is like nowhere near being called for his job. And like, if I was the Saints, I would not want that guy running things.
00:53:20
Speaker
Just slide up react into the starting starting coach. Why not? it's It's just like the Saints somehow just hide. They're in a pocket of America and Louisiana where it's like, this is is not even a real world. like it's They just live in their own bubble there. And they just he's able to hide. And then, yeah, um last thing I had from this game was you know Sean Tucker from the Clouds. He's just like, they got three running backs now. whos but i I don't know what to do, but Sean Tucker just had 14 carries, 136 yards touchdown, 56 receiving yards and a touchdown.
00:53:51
Speaker
He was their third string running back. Like, Rashad White was out today and he just okay took advantage of his spot. I don't know what they're going to do, but I mean, they got they got talent in the running back room in Tampa Bay. A couple of record sets from the Tampa Bay. It became the just the fifth team in NFL history to have at least 300 yards passing and 270 yards rushing in a single game.
00:54:15
Speaker
594 total offensive yards. That's the second most ever yielded by the Saints So I think we're starting to see this Saints defense crack a bit too under all these ah Injuries and having to be on the field all the time Bucks have a big game versus the Ravens next Monday night. We got another double and Monday night or we're talking about the other one way less exciting But yeah that'll can't wait to watch that game um patche we will move to a game recap that starts and ends with nick siriani what a sunday for nick siriani eagles squeeze out a fourpoint win over the browns eagles twenty brown sixteen And pregame, Sirianni pulls up with a bald head after what reports say was a productive bye week. Hertz told reporters that him and Sirianni shared some great moments and came together in harmony on the bye week. And then after a crazy game that we'll get to, he he feels the need to chirp at fans in the first rows of the link. This game was in Philadelphia. Like when you saw that clip, you're like, oh, there
00:55:24
Speaker
You know, road team like they're they're going in at Cleveland. No, this game was in Philadelphia and they were cheering cheering for him to get fired the whole game. The AP story says before Devontae Smith's TD, Eagles fans only showed some fire when they chanted for Sirianni to get
Browns Under Fire
00:55:40

fired. He puts his finger to his ear. He goes, I can't hear you. ah And then after the game, he says, I'm just excited to get the win. I appreciate the link support. While he's got his kids on his lap, he did the the classic put put the kids up on the press conference podium so that I can use them as a human shield against any criticism that I have. What a Sunday for Nick Sirianni-Patrick.
00:56:02
Speaker
Nick Sirianni is a 15-year-old kid. He's like trying to find himself. He thinks he he thinks he's a tough guy. He thinks he knows it all in the world, but he's still got so much to learn. and yeah Like you said, when I saw him start to chirp at fans, I thought, okay, like whatever. he's He's an insane person. He's chirping at the Browns fans. All good. all good the Classic Nick Sirianni stuff right no he's chirping out his own fans I get there is just chanting fire Sirianni but. Haven't they been doing that all year like this what you're dealing with in it with eagle sands and he mentioned it in the post game is.
00:56:41
Speaker
you know We really love it when they cheer for us and and you know they boo us and we hear it, but we're we don't like it that much. It's like, yeah, I know. We know you don't like it, but they don't like you, Sirianni. So something's got to change. He said he was going to change in the bi-week. He shaved his head, put on 10 pounds, and he's just getting booed, man. And any he rightfully so. You barely beat a Cleveland Browns team who is now one in five.
00:57:05
Speaker
ah It's it's always a very toxic relationship with what's going on in philadelphia and syriani and. You just gotta like you gotta i wish i could be in that room and is like how do you as as jail and hurts or. You know that the leaders on this philadelphia eagles team.
00:57:23
Speaker
How do you, why do you want that to be your representation of, of your squad? Like that's the guy you're putting out to the media. That's the guy who's answering all the questions. He's standing on your sideline and and he just can't keep it together and act like a normal coach. they I almost said normal human, which could be argued as well, but it's, it's really bad. He, you should never be just chirping fans after barely beating a horrible team.
00:57:49
Speaker
no you shouldn't he he seems to have no idea about how he is perceived by either the media or the fans like like you make a good point there he is like the front-facing piece of this Eagles team like whether you like it or not he is who you know is supposed to present some sort of like calm some sort of demeanor here say, ah we came off the buy, I don't care how we won this game, but we won it, you you win this game, you act gracefully after, like, he just seems to really not know, hey, hey, Sirianni, you weren't, uh, Davante Smith's making a 54-yard catch out there, you weren't Jalen Hurts slinging it out there, who Hurts out a good game, 264, two TDs, um, it was huge to get AJ Brown and Davante Smith back, like, this looked more like an Eagles team that we kind of know,
00:58:36
Speaker
But you weren't doing any of that out there. You didn't oh coach Kevin Stefanski in this game by any means. um But but since we're talking about Stefanski, I've got a littering of insult stats for the Browns here. I can't wait. It's almost too much so.
00:58:53
Speaker
Per True Media, they ranked 592 quarterbacks who have started the first six games of a season since 2000. His expected points added per pass ranks 590 out of 592. And this is from Bill Barnwell. The Browns offense out of 798 teams through six games since 2000. They are 784th in red zone trips, 795th in offensive penalties, and 797th in third down conversion rate.
00:59:34
Speaker
This is another one. I got i got bored for a year. One second. Since 2007, out of 566 passers through six weeks, Watson ranks 558th in QBR, 565 in yards per dropback, and 566 in first down rate. This is like worse stats than when Cleveland went 0-18.
00:59:54
Speaker
Yeah, and I got another one for you. They they haven't scored 20 points this year yet. And their only touchdown in this game came off a blocked kick. Deshaun Watson was sacked five times in this game. Only two more years left, Cleveland. Only two more years left of that contract. Don't worry. It'll be over before you know it. And, you know, Stefansi gets up on the podium. He's still our quarterback.
01:00:16
Speaker
Who's got the gun to his head? who Who is it? Is it the owner? Is it is it the GM? Is it him? Is it is it this Sean? What's going on in Cleveland, man? this is It's an absolute joke how this franchise just... we We think Philly's dysfunctional there. We laugh at them. We like to you poke fun at them, but they win games at least. They'll they'll probably find a way to make the playoffs. Jalen Hurts, no turnovers. If you can continue to keep that up, they'll they'll win games.
01:00:44
Speaker
Cleveland shows signs of nothing. Nothing is encouraging. Miles Garrett is a good player. And that's basically all you can say about the Cleveland Browns. That's pretty much it. They just want to be laughed at, man. They change nothing. They want to be laughed at. It's it's like they enjoy being the worst team in the league. And you know this it'ss all it's all good in Cleveland because they got the Guardians.
01:01:05
Speaker
I don't know. It's, it's really bad in Cleveland. It's just like, I guess the fans, he keeps his job. If he keeps putting to Sean Watson out there, I guess that's what, what it is. That's the alternative. But yeah, J James Winston has got to be like, why did I come here? This, the, why did I decide in this destination? No kidding because Cleveland reporters finally like got up the stones to ask.
01:01:26
Speaker
Stefansky to his face is Haslam making you start Watson and he like gave an answer like somebody who is like held by a terrorist he's like we got a lot of faith in this group we got a lot of faith in Deshaun at quarterback like he he just didn't answer the question so that to me a non-answer is a absolute answer and he is being forced I think essentially to play Deshaun Watson who We said it last week could be the worst starting quarterback in the NFL. When Spencer Rattler is looking more competent than you at quarterback, you know you're just cooked.
01:02:01
Speaker
And they made a great point on part of my take that like, maybe this is Deshaun's punishment, like some cosmic interference here where it's like he is going on a shame tour, like from Game of Thrones, like just being shamed every week down throughout the NFL because it is, they, I am now confident saying that I will be shocked if they win another game this season. I love that out of you. I love that out of you. Yeah. The Browns are the Browns. The Browns are always.
01:02:29
Speaker
Garbage until they it's basically like what the commanders were until you change ownership Nothing's gonna change in Cleveland. It's it's the same stuff year in year out They had a ah flash in the pan of success making the playoffs and they you know, we've mentioned it before they thought they had something better and they didn't realize how what they had with Baker a guy who actually decided to embrace the city of Cleveland when everyone else was running from it and Yeah, it's it's really bad in Cleveland. And the yeah, I don't know. Stefanski, whatever, like this team, I'm done with them. I'm done with the Cleveland Browns. It's it's over. you're You're creating your own drama for no reason and you continue to be bad. Yeah, I'm just done with the Browns. It's I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. Hands up. ah Yeah, me too. I don't even want to watch them play football anymore. um We you will move in the NFC to Packers 34 Cardinals 13, another
01:03:22
Speaker
Jekyll and Hyde game from Arizona man like it's it's becoming a so like a very very strict pattern here of a good game a bad game a good game a bad game this was an awful one for them they've got penalized 13 times for a hundred yards three fumbles Marvin Harrison jr. gets concussed after hitting his head on Isaiah McDuffie They went down 24-0 in the first 25 and a half minutes of this game. They managed to score 13 straight points and then just wouldn't score again for the rest of the game. James Conner looked slow. He had 24 yards on 7 carries. They got out rushed 179-89. Like De Marcato was like the only person who looked good on this Cardinals team for like the whole game, which is so insane to say.
01:04:07
Speaker
The Packers looked on point, but this to me was more like I cannot wrap my head around this Cardinals team, man. The last time the Arizona Cardinals won back to back games was December 5th, 2021. Wow. So it's, it's, it's more than a trend. It's what they are. It's, it's their identity. It's, it's Jekyll and Hyde. And today they decided that they they don't need points. They don't want to score the like green. The game was over at half and it feels like green Bay's in a million of these games where they're just, they're, they're up.
01:04:37
Speaker
three, four scores at halftime. And then you see the final score. This one, maybe not so much, but you see the final score. It's like, how'd they only win by three? How'd they not cover this game? This one they did. They handled business and it's the best Jordan love has looked yeah since he's returned from that injury. He was smooth out there just throwing three touchdowns.
01:04:53
Speaker
Romeo Dobbs, I mean, that was a weird situation last week. I truly, I don't exactly know all the details and you know what's going on behind the scenes there, but he seemed happy this week holding two touchdown passes. He's always kind of been their red zone guy in short yardage. And, you know, clearly him and love have rekindled that relationship a little bit. Christian Watson came back. It was just like Green Bay.
01:05:17
Speaker
you know, operated smooth and business as usual for them. And then, you know, Arizona is just like they they don't know what they are. And now this trend, did this they are what they are. And they're not going to be able to put two wins together. And that's why they will not make the playoffs this year. Yeah. Our preseason on the on Arizona is is looking worse by the week. But it's like I love that celebration from Dabs too like he does that just doesn't celebrate just gets up and hugs his boys like just ah a great celebration to me that like kind of signaled that maybe this was something a bit more personal than then Diva for him like missing that practice and
01:05:55
Speaker
and the whole thing that happened there because to me this still seems like a team that has like a tight tight young core like the The sky is the limit for this Packers team I would say over the next five years because the defense continues to be great Xavier McKinney is and Loses his interception streak the team recovers three fumbles like this defense clearly has something to it and on offense like Everyone is young like everyone has like their whole careers ahead of them here And it it just seemed maybe you know Josh Jacob is a bit older But it seems like everybody like is on the same page in a game like this, and I'm so so excited that for that Texans Packers game next week like just an absolute dogfight I think it's gonna be two really talented young teams going at it the Cardinals host the Chargers next week on Monday night football who I cannot imagine anyone who's watching that game on the big screen ah other than
01:06:51
Speaker
You know fans of each team and I think the Bucks and the Ravens are going to dominate that one. But yeah, not a whole lot other other than this game that this was the best Jordan Love has looked this year and hopefully that's a sign moving forward that he's kind of past that injury.
01:07:06
Speaker
Yeah, i sorry I think I said three TDs. He had four. But yeah, I don't have a ton to add either. It was just the NFC North stays hot. Green Bay takes care of business. And you kind of have to it to compete in this division clearly. And you want the best record you can possible. ah Well, I mean, Green Bay is the only team that has lost an NFC North game when they lost the Vikings earlier this year. So I think I'm pretty sure that's why they're last. ah But it's like, yeah, you got to win all these outside of division games and then I'm that storyline is going to be awesome down the stretch, like these inert NFC North matchups. I'm pumped up to see those down the stretch. But yeah, this game was over at halftime. And yeah, Green Bay just takes care of business. Yeah, let's stay in the NFC North and move over to London, ah where the Bears absolutely demolished the Jaguars. The score looks closer than it was. Bears 35, Jaguars 16 and Caleb Williams continues to get better and better every week.
01:08:01
Speaker
And the Jaguars continue to look more messy. I'm not going to say that they looked like worse this week because I actually think this was a game where like the Jaguars really shot themselves in the own in their own feet. Like I think they had four touchdown passes that like they dropped essentially. Gabe Davis had a bad one in the first half. He still comes out of this game with two touchdowns somehow.
01:08:23
Speaker
um But to me, this game signaled that this Bears offense is starting to get its its sail wind under its sails, its its legs under its feet, whatever backwards, ah like saying you want to give it to. Cole Komet dominated. Keenan Allen, who's back. He kind of looked more like him, you know, his Chargers days in this one. I loved what I saw from the Bears in this game.
01:08:45
Speaker
Yeah, started a little slow, went down to the Jaguars and then Caleb had that. Brutal. It was a bad interception. Just missed the touchdown pass to DJ Moore, under threw it by, you know, 10 yards and I kind of was that's where i was like oh my god like it should i be worried about the bears is jackson figuring it out and then caleb just this so caleb went back to usc in his Heisman year and he was he was running in the ball more than i've seen him do it this this season in like the runs he didn't run a ton it was only four times
01:09:17
Speaker
But he he picked his spots so well, like 25 yards scramble, I think at one point getting running for first downs, not taking hits. Very smart decision making by Caleb for touchdowns. We already mentioned that. And in this defense, man, the Bears defense. I think you can call it the best in the league. Like I'm i'm right there, dude. They had, they've allowed 21 points once this season, man.
01:09:42
Speaker
All Caleb does, exactly. All Caleb has to do, or the offense, is just find a way to put up three touchdowns. Or you know two touchdowns, two field goals, and and you're in overtime at 2020. It's impressive what this defense is doing, and they're just making life easy for Caleb. like He doesn't have to stress in these situations. He's never down two touchdowns early, and he has to abandon the game plan. it's it's a perfect symphony of a defense really helping out their rookie quarterback and then you know we had the concerns about the offensive line earlier in the year it's shored up a bit it's not perfect but it's better than it was and the Bears yeah they're improving four and two it's life's good in Chicago right now but we'll see how long this lasts you know you Bears fashion they'll always find a way to to revert back to the mean
01:10:28
Speaker
yeah i'm waiting i'm waiting for it still like i'm waiting for it yeah the I love how how they phrase it here, designated emergency long snapper because the team found out he did it in high school. like I love that some parts of the NFL are like if you were running a rep football team and it's like, you, you can do this, get in there. Said he was terrified to do it, but luckily didn't have to do any punts because they punted on the first two drives of this game and then never again for the rest of the game.
01:11:09
Speaker
Um, yeah, just a, a, a much more complete game from the bears on the Jaguar side. I think between injuries on defense and a lack of a running game, like they had 68 yards on 20 carries. This team will continue to have a tough time winning football games. Like Lawrence wasn't that bad 23 for 35, two 34, two TDs and interception. Uh, but between drops between.
01:11:32
Speaker
defensive lapses like that they're just gonna have to have like a perfect game and the other team is gonna have to have a C game for them to win and nothing like staying an extra week in London after just getting and getting your doors blown off by the Bears Yeah, Dougie P got the got the vote of confidence from shot con always what you're looking for It now would have been the worst firing ever if you got fired in London I know without a doubt is just like what the hell do I do now? Like I'm just stuck in Europe. I'm fired gotta get home That's that that would have been really sad. So
01:12:07
Speaker
I think this is like he's coaching for his life against the Patriots and in London next week. If you lose that one, just cut it loose, man. Like what what else do you have to do to see and the Jaguars have nothing really going on? Evan Ingram is a positive. He returned.
01:12:23
Speaker
and he had 10 receptions for 102 yards like you you have that and like you said the offense isn't horrible they had the dropped touchdown and i don't know man the the running game it's just like okay we got tank bigsby back last week etienne you know this could be a two-headed monster that we got going in the backfield etienne leaves the game and tank bigsby can barely run the ball It's tough, man. It's tough for Jacksonville, but yeah this season, like they have no hope. this They need the season to end. I think they should get it over with and fire Doug just to maybe get a spark on that team. But yeah, Jacksonville really has not a lot of positives going for them right now. It'll be hilarious if a coach gets fired coming back from London like two weeks in a row, essentially, like or like within three weeks, then we'll have a real trend. And people always say with the Jaguars, it's like, oh, they're the London team. It's like,
01:13:16
Speaker
They're used to it. NFL rosters like are quite fluid. like you You replace, you add a lot of new players. like It's not like those guys are like used to
Jaguars in London
01:13:26
Speaker
playing in London. like i don't I don't put in enough stock into like the fact that the Jags are comfortable in London. like I still think it's a completely new thing every year. like it's It's a hurdle that you have to fight every year. You mentioned Khan. Peterson said, I do have his support. I was just with him and I do.
01:13:45
Speaker
Like it's like he's like trying to prove a point. But yeah, absolutely coaching for his life next week. I kind of like the Patriots in that game. We'll get to that later in our week seven
Texans' Key Player Performances
01:13:54
Speaker
picks. But um we are now going to kind of go through a quick recap here of the last four games.
01:13:59
Speaker
We spoke about the Patriots, Texans 41, Patriots 21, Texans get a huge boost from the return of Joe Mixon. He had 102 yards in a TD, um while Stephon Diggs and Tank Dell just stepped up without Nico Collins, each getting a touchdown, combining for just over 120 yards combined.
Drake May's First Game Analysis
01:14:20
Speaker
Stroud had to do far less than he usually does and he still ended up with three TD passes Nothing crazy here from the Texans just kind of took care of business on the Drake May side of things What do you what did you think about Drake May's debut?
01:14:34
Speaker
promising promising like I don't think it was horrible it actually went better than I thought it was going to that ah offensive line is is horrible over there in New England so I wasn't like expecting him to go out there and win this game against the the Houston Texans but he had that 40-yard bomb so he he clearly has like arm talent which is okay step one check like that that's huge for an NFL quarterback having arm talent has it has some mobility. I know Antonio Gibson couldn't run anything like May was their leading rusher in this game. He had the one really bad interception. Don't get me wrong, but talked to it with Spencer Rattler like your rookie quarterback. I don't expect you to be perfect in this game, but i he he gives them a better chance to win games than Jacoby Brissett does. Absolutely. and i
01:15:19
Speaker
i I like I don't know if it's this week like you said against Jacksonville coming up but this New England with Drake May and you know you bring back Monterey Stevenson and they can get a run game going they can be pesky like they can stay in games and give you a fight but yeah yeah Drake May was was fine fine in his rookie debut it it was okay Yeah, I think that was kind of the the sentiment. He equaled Brissett's TD output in one game that Brissett had through five weeks. Brissett had three touchdowns and he equaled that in one game. I think it's a perfect get back game for them against the Jags too.
Patriots' Errors and Potential
01:15:53
Speaker
Like if they can come back and and you're right, get Stevenson back and like be frisky on offense. I think they can win that game outright. The one thing about this team, like Gerard Mayo said, it's the same thing over and over again. They make too many mistakes. like they Two fumbles and two interceptions for four turnovers penalized nine times for 50 yards. like You really can't afford to make that many mistakes if you're a team like the Patriots. so That's another thing they kind of have to clear up. and
01:16:19
Speaker
and and like that's on kind of charade male like I know he's not the one fumbling or intercepting the ball but like penalties like I don't know he had such a hot start as a coach against the Bengals and it seemed like the team was rallying around him I think this was a good move actually like people criticized him putting in May against
Panthers’ Struggles Amid Bryce Young’s Absence
01:16:37
Speaker
a team like the Texans but I feel like this was kind of a perfect game now that we've seen how it went for me to get his feet wet and then have like an actual tune up next week against the Jaguars. That isn't your first career start. So I don't know. I want to see more from Mayo here and I'm excited for that game next week. Yeah, I mean, it's it's the NFL, right? Like, what what are you looking for for a team to start against? You're going to have to start them against somebody. So you know it just happens to be the Texans this week. And he was fine. He survived. If you can survive against the Texans, I'm sure you'll feel a lot better against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Titans' Troubles and Calls for Change
01:17:12
Speaker
Yeah, um we'll go to Colts 20, Titan 17 in a game that nobody watched. Like I'm actually going to put my neck on the line there and say that like 400 people watch this game because the Titans suck so hard, Patrick. They are one in four and that one win is against the measly dolphins. and They've lost three straight games to the Colts now. Another home loss. They haven't won at home all year. Their third loss by a touchdown or less.
01:17:41
Speaker
Levis had his seventh interception of the season then blows out the knee of a sideline worker and Tennessee got their first interception of the entire year in this game. They're so bad, like they should be 0-5.
01:17:55
Speaker
Yeah. I said last week about the Sean worst QB. I think you said at this, I will love us has to be the worst quarterback in the NFL. Like when you actually break it down, it's, it's always him losing the game for his team every single week. Cause they're in every game. yeah you Like their point differential for a one in five team is not that bad.
01:18:15
Speaker
And they're in every game, especially this one. I thought they were going to pull it out, too. And then Flacco just goes and gets the 10 points in the fourth quarter and they win. Will Levis throws that brutal interception at the worst possible time. Just go to Mason Rudolph. Just just do it. You'll win three games for the rest. Like you'll find a way to win three games. is here because Your defense is good enough to keep you in all these games. I don't get it. It's just, ah yeah, the the Titans are You they're they're no bet. They're no watch. They just stay away from Tennessee until they can figure out what they're doing on offense. You got Calvin Ridley complaining in the media now.
Colts' Defensive Win Over Titans
01:18:52
Speaker
Maybe you shouldn't have gone to Tennessee, Calvin. You were you're a free agent, bro. You didn't have to do that. ah Yeah. Well, I was killed. The chain gang guy didn't even apologize. Tough luck. Yeah. And the Spider-Man celly. Like, what was that, man? It's like he's like almost become self-aware and he knows people are meeting him.
01:19:11
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's it's bad. ah Tennessee traded away the wrong quarterback. Malik Willis would have this team with two wins. For sure, I would argue maybe maybe at 500 with Malik Willis. I think Flacco might be taking Anthony Richardson's job as well this year. Yeah, he the team is like rallying around him. like they They look like they are having so much more fun with him being at quarterback it like it. Richardson still out with the hip injury, so I guess it was the hip more than the head, um but hits Michael Pittman Junior late in that game for like a huge touchdown.
Falcons' Winning Streak
01:19:45
Speaker
ah the The Colts defense holds Tennessee 241 yards.
01:19:49
Speaker
Titans were flagged 11 times. ah The Colts play Miami next week, so they could go on a bit of ah kind of like a roll here. ah The Texans are definitely pulling away in that division, but similar to last year, like I think the Colts are going to stick around in that wild card race pretty much for the rest of the season. Like I think they're going to do just enough to kind of be in the mix.
01:20:09
Speaker
Yeah, I wrote down it's a two horse race in the AFC South now because you obviously have two one win teams in that division. Those games are going to be huge when the, uh, when the Texans take on the Colts, which we got in two weeks, a little look ahead, spot. Uh, and I mean, the Texans beat on week one, which is.
01:20:27
Speaker
That could age well. like that that's the stuff That's the difference, right? Even if you go 500 against each other, the Texans will probably have a better record at the end of the year. So then we're having at least one win over the Colts is definitely huge for them in that division, looking to looking to win it. But I mean, Tennessee, if you you keep Flacco there, like that looks like a fringe wildcard team. like They're winning games, man. And they they they look competent. They look good. yeah Yeah, I agree. We'll move to Falcons 38, Panthers 20. This is a game where it's like the palcon the Falcons keep finding different ways to win. And I think that's the the hallmark of a great team. ah And people forget, including myself, I didn't realize this.
01:21:07
Speaker
when I made the pick last week in our goalpost picks like this is a divisional game like always forget like because the Panthers are so
Panthers' Defensive Woes
01:21:13
Speaker
bad you kind of overlooked that but like divisional games are hard man like this was a game where the Panthers looked frisky in for a little bit um but the Falcons they go three wins over three NFC South opponents in three straight weeks those are the type of games that that make you win this division and I think that this is a team that at its best like we said a pick your poison offense this is That is what this team can be. Bijon and Algier had great days. 95 yards, two touchdowns for Bijon. 105 yards, touchdown for Algier. and They ran for 198, pass for 225. A week after Kirk has to go 509 in the air, he goes 19-30 for 225 and they still win. so like To me, this was a a weirdly like good win for the Falcons even though it's over the Panthers.
01:22:03
Speaker
Yeah, they they won in a different way than they have been doing this entire season. They finally decided to commit to the run. Bijon just wasn't getting enough touches in this offense through the past couple of weeks. They were winning, so it really wasn't a story. But Bijon needs the ball in his hands. He needs to go out there and make plays. And we saw it happen this week with two touchdowns.
01:22:23
Speaker
um ah They just can't, they love Algier. Like they will never quit him. they They blame that on Arthur Smith, but the Falcons just can't quit Algier, which is fine. Like he's, he's a good runner and he's a little bit of a different back than Bijon. He's more of a bowling ball going to go straight, straight line, as opposed to Bijon's a shifty, shifty guy. But yeah, when you're running the ball like this in Atlanta, you take the pressure off of Kirk Cousins.
01:22:46
Speaker
He doesn't have to do as much. He's an older quarterback. he to I don't think he wants to do as much, but the offense looks great in Atlanta. It's finally kind of looks fine tuned from what it was in week one against the Steelers where it was just like, uh-oh, you know, Kirk Cousins, maybe a mistake of a signing. He's figured it out. Offense looks good.
01:23:05

They could probably shore the defense up a little bit. I mean, like you said, like the Panthers were in this game at halftime and it felt like, okay, divisional game, you're in it. yeah I believe they're at home as well. You know, are are the Panthers about to pull one out here and then the Falcons pulled away in the second half, but good win for the Falcons and yeah, just keep winning divisional games because this ah this is another division where looks like it's going to be a two horse race down the down the season. Big time. ah This was the end of the honeymoon period for Andy Dalton, I would say like 26 to 38 for 221 and two touchdowns, but two bad fourth quarter interceptions here where it's just like you can't be doing that. um I think it's finally becoming their identity that they have the worst defense in the league.
01:23:49
Speaker
um They've allowed a league high 203 points in six games That is the ninth most by a team in the Super Bowl era They have allowed 34 or more points in four of their six games Like that is an insane recipe to try and win with um The Falcons host Seattle next Sunday, which is like oh like I just I love that matchup like it's that is an absolute who are the real frauds game hint I think
Anticipation for Bryce Young's Return
01:24:18
Speaker
it's Seattle and I think that that is like such a make-or-break game for the Seahawks because if you get like blown out in that game if you're Seattle and I think they own okay that Seattle's on the road that would have been worse if they were at home but like I think if Seattle lose that game big like that where I'm out on Seattle and
01:24:35
Speaker
um'm I'm pretty close to being there already. um I guess last thing on the Panthers, Bryce Young just looks happier ah not playing. He just looks happy, man. He just knows how bad of a spot the Panthers, just how bad they are on on all facets of the game. Chuba Hubbard continues to have good performances and Deontay Johnson was solid, but I mean, it's just... he I've never seen a happier backup guy to be benched. And you know good for him, I guess, if he's healthy and he's not getting hit, ah that's good for him. But they're in ah in a weird spot where it's like he's going to have to come back in this season. He he needs to get the reps and play some games because, like I said, the the honeymoon is over with Andy Dalton. and Andy Dalton's the backup quarterback here.
01:25:20
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. I can't wait for Bryce Young to get back in that ah offense. It's gonna be so entertaining. um Last game here, Chargers 23, Broncos 16.
Chargers vs Broncos Recap
01:25:28
Speaker
This was a pretty disgusting game that no one was watching unless you were a fan or you had money on them or a pick on them like Patrick. ah Denver loses, Pats retain to a concussion on the first defensive snap of the game. like His absence in this game was so, so, so noticeable.
01:25:46
Speaker
Broncos only snap in Chargers territory in the first half, ended in a lost fumble by Chavante Williams. They converted on just three of 11 third downs. like This team needs its defense to prop up its offense, similar to the Bears. like when When the defense is firing on all cylinders, then the offense kind of feels confident on the field. um it It showed a little too little bit too much too late here for the Broncos. um Jim Harbaugh left the sideline due to an irregular heartbeat.
01:26:15
Speaker
That was weird. Pumped up. He's pumped up, man. He and just can't contain his excitement. he's He's ready to go. He thought he was playing today. And he still had a great quote after the game, which, oh my god, man, Herbert sets season highs and completions 21 and in yards, 237. Not gaudy stats by any sense. Harbaugh goes, hopefully this reminds everybody that Justin Herbert is really good at playing quarterback. He was putting it on the money. Always great when you have to remind people that your quarterback is good.
01:26:44
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's a Greg Roman Harbaugh offense. They're definitely running in in L.A. and it shows in Herbert's stats. To me, this was this is exactly how I kind of thought this game was going to go. I think the Chargers are just a better team than the Broncos. I think they should finish ahead of them in the divisional standings. I think the Chargers are a fringe wildcard team. And I think that's what we had them at before the season. And I don't think the, bron I think the Broncos are below 500 team. I think they, they're, their ceiling is seven wins eight, eight would be like, you have gone beyond your, your limit, your
01:27:17
Speaker
possibilities bonex it's like oh my goodness you might actually be half decent but when you're down 23 nothing and then you start racking up the points and and you know what i mean you're you're saving the scoreboard a little bit it's like i just don't feel great about the broncos i don't think they're a great team i think people kind of got caught up in their hype after they beat the buccaneers and they go on a mini three game winning streak there, but I just don't think
Chargers vs Cardinals Preview
01:27:39
Speaker
they're a great team. And they came back to a reality a little bit and and the church has got the running game going again, which is huge. that That's the only reason that's the only way they win games is with they're able to run the ball. And then Herbert obviously throwing is a great quarterback, but JK Dobbins had a great game again.
01:27:55
Speaker
Yeah, big game for Jacob Dobbins. He was kind of going downhill a bit the past few weeks. Big game for him to kind of get some confidence back. ah The Chargers Cardinals game. That is like the ultimate wishy washy game next Monday night. Like which team is going to show up essential essentially? Like whatever team shows up to play is going to win that game.
01:28:13
Speaker
Yeah, that is, uh, oh, that's it. the Oh, this uniform matchup was awful. draw you it Like take an NHL, when you choose the wrong teams by accident and you have to like play with two teams wearing dark, what was going on, man?
01:28:28
Speaker
It looked like both teams just grabbed random different parts of their uniforms and just put them all together and just goes, this is what we're going with today. yeah it was like It was like a 10-year-old customizing a jersey on Madden. is This is what we're wearing today. The Broncos are just go to the throwbacks, man. They look so good. Was it two weeks ago or last week was when they had the throwbacks? They looked so good. They wanted them.
01:28:51
Speaker
Uh, yeah, this is uh, this was an ugly game, but the the chargers had to kind of win it Get a divisional win. So good good for the charger because they are So injured as well. So yeah anytime you can win when you're as

injured as they are. It's that's a positive thing Yeah, we'll move Out of week six here into week seven week seven picks I go three and oh to go to 11 and seven Patrick goes two and one to move to nine and nine this is still a very close race I think that anything can happen here week to week and this we've talked this is like a dead talking point at this point about how bad the spreads are I hate this week so much like maybe even more than the last two weeks
01:29:33
Speaker
Uh, I, this is a tough read anyway. You want to slice it. Uh, I hold serve here and I'm going to start with some gross picks here, Patrick. I let's hear it. I am going to start with the pats plus five and a half. I talked about this. I think that's too big of a spread considering how the Jags looked. I don't care that they're in London the whole week. I think that could be a detriment in this game. I think with Drake may, they're going to score points on this Jags defense. That is not good.
01:30:03
Speaker
And if the Pats defense can kind of hold their own in this game, I think this is a field goal game. Yeah, i don't I don't really have a great feel
Giants vs Eagles Preview
01:30:12
Speaker
in that game. I think London games are just like you never really know what's going to happen in them. But I can't say I like i hate it. you know mean I don't love it. I don't hate it. I just don't really have an opinion on it. ah yeah I actually don't mind the board this week. It's one of the rare times where I feel decent and I'm not going to complain.
01:30:30
Speaker
This line moved one and a half points since we recorded. Since we started recording, this line has moved one and a half points. So I'm, I'm scared now. It moved in the way I wanted it to, but the numbers so much bigger than it was. So I think I just got to stick with it and see what happens. But it's the l LA Rams. I believe right now they are minus seven, but I saw them at five and a half right before we went to record and now it's at seven. So.
01:30:57
Speaker
i get I guess I liked it at five and a half and I love it at seven. Yeah, I looked at that game. I can't tell with the Raiders week to week what they're going to be so that those games scare me a bit. um I don't hate it, though. I really don't. I am going to stick with a team that did me pretty well this past week.
01:31:18
Speaker
And I'm going to go to, oh, yeah, I'm going to go. Oh, this is moved as well. I'm going to go with the Falcons minus three against the Seahawks. I think I feel good about the Falcons now. Like that was a big prove it game to me that they could cover a nice and big spread against a team like the Panthers. And they're at home here. I think that their offense is going to just overload this Seahawks team that has clearly had a tough time dealing with good offenses. I'm going to take Falcons minus three.
01:31:48
Speaker
that That just has push written all over it. Yeah, it does. We haded we had two last week that we thought were going to end up in pushes, and they soared. They were the clear winners. We talked about this one earlier. I'm going with the giant the Giants. Yep, the Giants at home. it's is This is another one that has push written all over it, plus three. I i wanted it at you know three and a half would have been great, but I just think the Eagles are not a great team. Divisional game, yeah Giants at home.
01:32:18
Speaker
Hopefully Malik neighbors back. He got to think he's back and then hopefully Singletary as well. I just think the Giants can hang in this game. Yeah, I don't hate that pick at all, especially with how the Eagles have looked.
Dolphins vs Colts Betting Discussion
01:32:29
Speaker
ah I am going to do a mental health pick here. Miami Dolphins Indianapolis Colts under 43 and a half. If I have to sit through this game and watch it and and watch a terrible output from probably the Dolphins offense, I'm going to enjoy at least the game going under. So I had a couple of picks that was going back and forth. Couple of picks have moved like crazy. Like I'm not going to mention the one that I was looking at other than this, but there's one of them that has moved to two full points in the last hour and a half. Yeah, I think I know the one you're talking about. The lines the lines are active right now from our our Tuesday, Tuesday afternoon. if we If we were recording a little later than usual today, if we recorded in the morning, we would have had some nice numbers. But that's OK. That one's on me. um This one.
01:33:16
Speaker
game of the year potential i think and i'm i'm gonna have some skin in the game on this one give me the 49ers at home minus one and a half against the kansas city chiefs that they we're putting a one in that loss column for kansas city i i feel like this is going to be the breakout game for the 49ers everyone's going to jump back on the bandwagon they're they're going to look great ayuk's going to have two touchdowns hundred yards It is going to be that game that just flips flips that 49ers switch on and then the the hype will be back with the Niners after this one. like I like that. I had a similar pick in the Vikings one and a half. Like I think that the the books favoring the Vikings here this weekend kind of tells you something here. I know they're at home. It's switched now to two and a half ah since this morning. So I think that this is kind of a letdown spot for the Lions as well. But I love.
01:34:05
Speaker
I love it as a letdown spot for the Chiefs as well. Like, and just that classic, like lost the Super Bowl to them. Then they get like the kind of meaningless regular season win against them. Like I, I, I love the 49ers in that game. What was the line that you were talking about that was moving? It was Bengals four and a half this morning that is now at six and a half. Like I, I think I would have jumped all over it at four and a half, but divisional game, like Bengals six and a half, like something about that game just stinks to me a bit.
01:34:34
Speaker
Yeah, I almost took the Panthers catching more than a touchdown. I just I think they're due to be to like just have a ah ah funky game and just hang in there against like, ah you know, Jayden Daniels rookie quarterback. I don't know. Yeah, I also looked at the Colts minus three, but then I remembered the Colts are on my parlay van list and I and I can't bet them. So I i i held to that.
01:34:56
Speaker
Yeah, and who knows, it might start Anthony Richardson and like that line's gonna move. i like your I liked your pick with the under in that game. Yeah, I hope they do. That would be so much better than me because I feel like Flacco could just demolish.
01:35:08
Speaker
demolished the dolphin secondary. um But that'll do it for our week seven picks. ah We'll keep this thing rolling here. I love the way that this battle is kind of shaping up. um Just a couple cleanup notes here. Our giveaway, we did our spin this morning.
