Speaker: what the fuck is happening hey girl what is this what the fuck what the fuck is this i don't know i don't know and now my phone is listening to me

Speaker: du it just responded to me like alexa Oh my god. no't no I've never seen that happen. That is so weird. it' was just sitting there next to me and all of a sudden it lights up and it's like listening. I'm like, what? oh my god. What i say to trigger it? Here's what I can tell you is that apparently retrograde, Mercury retrograde, just ended yesterday.

Speaker: But there is always a post, you know, there's a pre and a post shadow. So, I mean, it's, but the thing is, this is not all like, I mean, I guess with the case of like weird shit happening with your phone, that's a little bit of like communications. Mercury stuff. um But like everything else, who the fuck knows? There's a bolt in my tire. What?

Speaker: What? Yeah. Oh my god! I think it i it must have got in there sometime today, like this this afternoon. Because it was... um I always drive with my windows down because no AC. yeah um And...

Speaker: I think, I don't know. i think it was just after I picked up Jim from work for like his lunch, because we went, we like pulled off the road to this little lot. That's like a gravel and like with some grass lot and got there was like a burger truck there. So we got burgers for dinner and Then when we were pulling in, like, you know, driving from there to back home,

Speaker: um He said he heard something and he was like hearing something that sounded like thumping and thought it was like a flat tire. And i was like, but but the tires aren't flat. like I usually have like the tire pressure little triangle will go off if it gets too cold.

Speaker: So if I had a flat tire, it would definitely be like yeah lit up right now. um We got back to the house. He checked like all the tires. They were not you know, flat, they weren't even, like, like, low, floppy. Yeah, love low. But then when I was taking him back to work, just before we were getting on a here to record, i heard it again, or he heard it and I heard it, as we were, like, pulling, like, through the Walmart lot.

Speaker: And I was like, is that what you're talking about? Like, because I couldn't hear it initially, like, the first time he mentioned it. um And... He was like, yeah. And I was like, oh my God, can you look again?

Speaker: and so like we pulled up and he got out of the car. He looked, he was like, there's a big old screw. And I was like, what the fuck? And I, you know, got out of the car and looked and it's a, it's like, it's not a screw. It's a bolt.

Speaker: It's like the size of a bolt. It's like those big, yeah giant fucking things. And so, you know, and it was so obvious once I heard it, I was like, I would have heard this earlier. Yeah.

Speaker: it So it has to have been like when we pulled off the road or like so at some point. um We would have heard it even this morning if it had been in there when I like took him to work.

Speaker: Not this morning, earlier this ah in the afternoon. But like I'm just like what the fuck it never ends i know so anyway the air is plugged in there while the bolt's still in there but that's the thing making noise Wow.

Speaker: But yeah, so I guess tomorrow I'm going to have to like call around to every possible auto shop that's even open on a Saturday and see if anybody can squeeze me in to patch the fucking tire. Yeah.

Speaker: At least it is like where it can be patched because I've had, you know, flats because of like punctures in the sidewalls that they will patch. Right. So relieved about that.

Speaker: um but damn uh but yeah so i'm just like god damn because you know my fucking check engine light has been just doing its thing for the last several weeks and uh that of course has been stressing me out even though i know what you know i've had the diagnostic done and I know it's just like an old sensor because my car is fucking old as shit. Yeah. um So like, but it's still, you know, it's the case that every time it lights up, I'm just like, even though nothing changes, like nothing ever changed. It's always like, I'm always on high alert for like any possible change in my car's behavior. Nothing changes.

Speaker: Yeah. Just the sensors being stupid. ah The, the, the, God damn. God damn. I don't. um Did I tell you? I think you must have known this because of you being with me in November driving in the Flex down to Branson. But um but like, did I tell you about the passenger door sensor? Yeah.

Speaker: Oh my God. That is still a freaking problem. It's always going to be a problem. But like, I'll explain it so the people listening can understand. But it's so annoying. I hate it. And apparently it is a thing with Ford flexes around this year that this model. Oh man. um So the one YouTube video I saw looking up about how to fix it, it was the rear passenger door. Mine is the front passenger door. But the sensors go bad and the car thinks that the door is open.

Speaker: and or a jar or whatever you want to call it. Right. Yeah. So what happens is the alarm system thinks that the door has been pulled open and the the alarm starts going off.

Speaker: Right. That is annoying. So I figured out a trick, like a workaround. And the trick is you lock all the doors with your key you know, remote thing. And then you unlock one time, which only unlock the driver's door.

Speaker: then you stick your key in the driver's key like door lock thing and you actually manually lock that door back so that disarms the alarm system okay because you've used the key to unlock one door and and it doesn't get reset by you you know locking it back yeah you're just manually i mean you could literally open the door and just push the little lock down and shut the door back whatever yeah it's just easier to stick the key in and turn it real quick so that just disarms the alarm system so like if that sensor decides to like flip out in the middle of the night the alarm's not going to go off like that was happening a lot when i first got the car right but one of the other problems with this situation is when the alarm or when the sensor is flipping out and i lock my car

Speaker: And because sometimes it's not, sometimes the, the sensor's not on, it's fine. Like it doesn't say the door's open. So sometimes that happens, but more often than not, it is showing me the little like red light that the door's open. Right.

Speaker: But so when it is, when the sensor is telling me the door's open and I do that trick to lock my car, the interior light stays on for 10 minutes.

Speaker: All the lights, all the interior lights stay on for 10 minutes because it thinks the door is open. So it has to time out on its own after 10 minutes. You know what I'm saying? Whereas if you shut your doors and you lock the car, they only take a few seconds to turn off after that normally.

Speaker: So with with the lights staying on inside all the time, like every time I have to go in and out of my car and they stay on for 10 minutes after that, it's like wearing down the battery like fast. Yeah.

Speaker: You know what i mean? Yeah. So that's just aggravating as fuck. And then it's dark when I'm going, when I go to work in the morning. And so every time I lock up my car and then walk to my bus, the light stays on in my car. I can see it from where I'm pre-tripping my bus and the light stays on for like 10 minutes. And I have people that'll tell me like, your light's on in the car, your light's on. I'm like, I i know. Like I won't, you know, it'll turn off by itself, but I can't make it turn off. it's so annoying I'm telling you so I know you can fix it like I did see the YouTube video about how to fix it but it is so involved like you have to take the fucking door apart sounds like something that's better done by a professional in my opinion but that's just me yeah and it would cost probably way more than I would be willing to spend so I just deal with it

Speaker: Hopefully it's worth a battery not living as long as it should. Yeah. and don't know. And I don't know how old the battery is that's in there. Like. True.

Speaker: So. True. I could probably take it to one of those like the auto zone places or whatever. They can do a but a battery diagnostic and tell me like what, you know. Yeah, like just how dead it is. Full or how dead, yes. Yes. Because they were able to do that for my Cobalt because it it wasn't starting. Like a couple different times it didn't start. And then I went to like the AutoZone or whatever and the guy hooked up to the battery. and he's like, oh yeah, you got like 50% battery life. Like you need a new battery.

Speaker: Wait, you need a new battery at 50%? Apparently. Yeah, apparently that's too low. Weird. Mm-hmm. hu But it was also really old. it was an old battery. So he was like, oh highly recommend that you get a new battery.

Speaker: Yeah. It wouldn't like recharge. You know what I mean? Like. Right. Okay. The alternator that charges it. Yeah. It wouldn't like take a charge and like charge back up or whatever.

Speaker: Yikes. Yeah. Something like that. hate car shit, man. I know. I know. Ugh. Yep.

Speaker: Woof. And I need an oil change right now The Flex needs an oil change. um That's one thing I don't need for once. Oh, and when I run the air conditioning in the Flex, because obviously my Cobalt does not have air conditioning like your car right now. Right. My Flex has air conditioning, but like when I'm idling and the air conditioning is running, there's a rattling under my car.

Speaker: in the view engine compartment. I'm like, why is that? I hate that too. driving, doesn't rattle because the movement, the motion of the car like cancels it out. put a good on Yeah.

Speaker: it's so stupid ah fuck yeah Fuck this shit. yep Fuck this shit. Fuck it all to hell. Let's let us move on. Greener pastures and happier thoughts.

Speaker: Okay. Shall we? Sure. yeah We've had clear skies and no Canadian wildfire smoke. Yay! And the weather has been perfect.

Speaker: Oh my The last couple of days. It has been super nice. Like, oh high 70s, clear skies, just beautiful. Like, low humidity. Oh my god. It's been perfect. yeah Yeah. had... are high... I could not even... Like, when...

Speaker: I went outside when like when I stepped out to take Jim to work in the early afternoon. it said it was like 83, but it felt like 73. It was wild. was like Low humidity, probably.

Speaker: Maybe. yeah But ah yeah, now it's 70 degrees. It's also the sun is very down. Yeah. ah But it's like it just it felt so nice.

Speaker: Oh my god. And I know it's not going to stay that way. But, you know. Yeah, I mean, yeah, we are still just in the middle of summer at this point. Yeah, I know.

Speaker: it's I mean, it's always got fluctuations. The ups and the downs. Yeah. but Yeah, at least the air quality is good. Yay! Because, dear god, it was rough for a while. Right.

Speaker: What the fuck, man? This is not... It just feels like everything is stressful. It can be. know. I know. Yeah.

Speaker: But, you know, that's besides the point. Yeah. I, uh, I don't know. I don't know how to do it. I don't know how to do life.

Speaker: I don't know. I like, and like I'm trying. um i want to be so optimistic. And I don't want this to be a bummer. I don't want to, like, get anybody down right now. And I'm sorry if that is what is happening.

Speaker: But I'm just... it it Everything just does not feel good. Yeah. Lately. i know you're going through it right now.

Speaker: I wish that I wasn't. I need i need a goddamn break. Yeah. um i hear you but i'm trying anyway oh should i give an update uh with regards to what i did today that was a humongous step finally oh yeah oh my god and we've like talked a little bit we've you know been gradually

Speaker: ah updating the peoples yeah so i finally finally did my application for my retirement online and i called the office of retirement services um which is the office that handles retirement for people who work for the state um which i'm considered a state employee um right The I had because I've had so many questions over the last like couple of years and I've called them a handful of times with various questions.

Speaker: um I really had the impression, especially with the last one, I last time I called them with questions like they are more than happy to sit on the phone and talk to you and explain things to you like they're that is what their job is, first of all.

Speaker: But like, yeah, it's not like annoying to them if you keep them on the phone for a while, because it's not like they're eager to get to the next call. You know what I mean? Right. Right. You know what I mean? So when I called the lady today, i was like, OK, really need to start my online application and I know that I'm going to be confused by things. So would you mind sitting on the phone with me while I go through the, you know, each step of the application and filling the things out and stuff she's like no I don't mind at all I was like awesome thank you she was so nice oh my god and at the end when I was done she was like congratulations I was like thank you I was on the phone with her for like an hour and 12 minutes oh man that's good she was so cool and even my kid came in to the room and

Speaker: And because I had her on speakerphone and he's like, can she hear me? And I was like, yeah, she's you're on speaker. We're on speakerphone. And she, so he was like, hi. And she was like, hi. and Yeah. Chattin her up a little, just a little.

Speaker: we know But most of it was, he wanted to buy some Robux and wanted my permission to buy Robux. Yeah. ah again. I was like, oh my god, stop it. I am in the middle of something. I can't talk to you about this right now. Oh my god. so You know that chatting you up or chatting her up is like a like a flirtatious insinuation, right? Yeah, I don't care. Okay. Not for Gen Z, Gen X, I'm sorry. Not for Gen Xers. It's just like... ah It is. It's just means... It's for everybody. It's just means chatting at somebody, like, i don't know.

Speaker: Because my husband will use that term and I know that it isn't in a... Well, he's using it wrong. In a sexual way or whatever. He's using it incorrectly. don't care. My kid's 10.

Speaker: I don't, I know. but you know, all the more reason to not use that phrase. Whatever. my god. Some sort of things are just too, like, goofy. Like, too, i don't know.

Speaker: I don't know. I don't care. It was the same when I did my application for FMLA. It the same situation where i had a guy on the phone and he was like, do you want me to like walk you through it? like I totally can. And i was like, sure, if you don't mind. And he was like, yeah, of course. So he like stayed on the phone. And even when I didn't have like questions or anything, and I was just sort of like you know getting through the the fields. He was just sitting quietly on the phone. And was just like,

Speaker: so relieved you know like it was it was nice and comforting and he was very patient and I was just like thank you so much and like while I was doing mine I had questions like constant questions oh yeah I absolutely had questions but it was so many things was like I just don't understand this yeah it's so confusing Yeah, I definitely had a lot of questions as well. I just like, and it was nice to feel like not awkward.

Speaker: hmm. when I didn't have questions, just sort of being like, he's fine with waiting until the next question I have comes up. and my god And I get it. Yeah. It's that feeling of like, I'm not in a rush to, you know, get to the next caller. So right he's happy to take as much time as I need. so that was nice. Yeah. Good.

Speaker: But yeah. Yeah. ah yeah I submitted the application to extend my leave and probably I don't know if I'll see an update on that until Monday. now but it's not even an application at this point. It was just like uploading some documentation.

Speaker: Yeah. So. Did I tell you i bought a printer? Yeah, you did. A new printer. Okay.

Speaker: So that thing, i I swear to God, things just are not as easy as they should be like legit.

Speaker: um It's not like you can just hook up the wifi to your, you know, the I don't know. It's like it goes through the Wi-Fi to talk to your computer.

Speaker: so you don't have to have a cord connecting the two to send documents over to print them, right? Okay. So it is not as straightforward and easy as it should be. it never is. None of the directions or instructions told you that you needed to push. There's two different buttons on the printer that you need to actually push them.

Speaker: Okay. One is like, it looks like a wifi button. And the other one is like two links, like two chain links connected. So you have to click the the wifi button first.

Speaker: So it's like not automatically on or whatever. So you have to click that first and then you have to push down and hold the two chain link but button. Okay. And hold it for three seconds to activate the connectivity.

Speaker: Was this in the instructions? No, it was not. It was not. I had to YouTube, you know, look it up. I had to look up the video. It wasn't in the instructions. I swear to God, it was like there was nothing in there about how to connect the wifi. It was stupid. It was like, just download the app. And then the app doesn't tell you, you have to push those two buttons on your, on the printer.

Speaker: It's so dumb. It's like, we're, we're searching for the printer. We're searching, you know, like, does, did it, did the printer show, did your printer show up in this list? It was like, no, no, it didn't.

Speaker: Oh man. It was so fucking stupid. And then, Finally, when I was able to get it to recognize the printer, it was like basically telling me it was like, um I don't know, like not downloading information from the printer, but it was like getting information from the printer somehow was like trying to like transmit stuff from the printer to the the computer. Okay.

Speaker: And it was sitting there and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and not going anywhere and not getting any like progress, you know? Mm-hmm. So finally I just closed the app out I was like, screw this. This is so stupid.

Speaker: Like you're taking forever to get this thing to connect. I don't understand this. Like, why is this happening? And then I reloaded the app and I'm talking about the app on my Chromebook.

Speaker: Okay. Because it's, you know, Google and you have play store and all that crap. So you can download this app for this printer onto the Chromebook as well as your phone. But anyway, I'm trying to do it through my laptop because i that's where the documents are that I needed to mil print. Anyhow, i restarted the app on the Chromebook. And then it like immediately connected and everything was great. And the app was up and it had all the little like choices of what you can do. like You can click on the scan button from your app.

Speaker: to scan a document but there's also buttons on the printer you can push to scan but it was just like everything was there all of a sudden like okay i guess i just needed to restart the app to get it to work i'm sick of apps man oh my god i'm so sick of technology because it's stupid yep it's literally like could i just have a cord to fucking plug it into the printer and just click right it's so much right god I almost, I literally almost ordered ah a cord, a printer cord from Amazon.

Speaker: Like, cause I was that fed up with it not connecting. I almost ordered one. And then before I did that, I restarted the app and it finally worked. I was like, fuck it, God damn it. But there's like a couple of forms that I needed to print out.

Speaker: And, it's funny because i'm thinking about it now and i'm like did i even print those out because i don't remember doing it now i thought that you did because you said you was it it forms relating to your retirement yeah there yeah i got them okay i had to look again because if you did that then you should have printed them out don't I was also so surprised that you decided to just buy a printer to print these forms out rather than going to like Staples or something to print them out.

Speaker: Because i need one here because i've I've tried to print things on our other printer that's hooked up to my really old laptop. And that printer is so old it doesn't communicate with any of the newer that I have. yes, I know that that's correct because you said that, but also, i don't know. i just i It didn't occur to me that you would want a printer in general. I don't know. Do you know how much I spent on this printer?

Speaker: Did I tell you? bucks. Ten bucks. No. Twenty bucks. $39. That is more expensive than I would have expected. $39. $39.

Speaker: That's more expensive than I would have expected. I don't know. It was on sale. It was like originally like 50, I think something like that. Wow. he But it was the cheapest printer that I could find. It was on sale at Walmart. And yes, I know we don't like Walmart, but you know, it's a thing.

Speaker: yeah. um And I did, you know, obviously make sure that it was compatible with a Chromebook before I bought it. But i was like, I would rather have the convenience of having a printer at home that I can actually use.

Speaker: Because if I get on the old laptop in the office over there, it takes me 20 minutes to get one document like ready to print. At least.

Speaker: At least. Because the printer. Sounds like you got to get rid of that. The laptop is used by, you know, my husband um and it's his that he's on all the time.

Speaker: So, oh, I thought you meant your old laptop. it It is mine, but he uses it. oh it is mine. It has my name. ah Like when you, you know, start up the thing, it's like, hi, Christina or whatever. It's connected to like my old, um, you know, Hotmail account, my old email.

Speaker: Anyway. So whatever he uses it all the time, even though it's slow as fuck. I mean, it, it takes 10 minutes just to get the fucking like browser, with you you know, window to open up. It's, it's nuts. It's so bad.

Speaker: It's so bad. I don't know why it's still running because of the kind of hard drive it has. They're so supposed to not run anymore at this stage, like of age. Well, so I'm surprised it still works, but yeah, it's super slow. And then the printer has problems all the time. Like,

Speaker: you know, half the time it's like, it doesn't want to and like, it doesn't want to like communicate with the laptop and then you have to keep retrying it. And it's just, it's ridiculous.

Speaker: So I just wanted a reliable printer for myself. It's like, screw all that crap.

Speaker: ah I know. Is this what our episode is? We're just like complaining. Bitching and moaning. Literally bitching and moaning.

Speaker: Fuck. did But I mean, yeah, after it started working, it's great. It works really good. Well, good. I'm glad. Because good riddance, that's insane.

Speaker: Oh my god. Well, I have one thing that I'm not complaining about, and that is that after, so I went to an event last night for all those listening who are not privy to my day to day life. ah I went to an event last night in Connecticut.

Speaker: And was there with a couple of our Anahata's friends. And afterward, we got dinner at this lovely little place called Friendly's, which doesn't exist in Massachusetts anymore. They've all closed. But apparently it's still open in Connecticut.

Speaker: um and so we went there that was my first time going because all the friendlies locations at least that i'm aware of were closed by the time that i was like you know living here um so i'd never been to friendlies and they were both like oh we gotta go to friendlies it's gonna feel like we're in middle school again oh That's funny and I got the world's largest brownie sundae. yummy. yes It was so much bigger than I expected it to be. it was like twice the size I expected it to be. ah And were you already expecting it to be big?

Speaker: Not really. I was expecting it to be like... a size that was reasonable average but it was enormous and I loved it it was delicious did you share any of it or just say fuck yeah I shared it a little bit but they ah each of them had also gotten their own desserts oh oh my goodness so I was like please take spoonfuls but like I don't know for having to mostly eat it by myself I was pretty satisfied with the amount that I got through I did not leave too much left on the on the plate I was like screw it whatever like did you guys actually eat meals too before that yeah we had like actual dinner and then we had okay and it was great it was like honestly I just treated myself because it was like I don't remember the last time that I ah that I had like a sundae of any kind really and certainly the last time that I got dessert at a restaurant I don't remember and know so i was like why not hmm

Speaker: And it was great. Oh, dude. Okay. So my son played in one in his baseball playoff game. yeah So um for the city that we live in which is the league that he's, you know, in is like got our city, you know, name in that league, whatever. So yeah we were only playing other teams from our city.

Speaker: And um we won against all the teams in our city. And they got a championship ring and everything for it. It was so cute. But now there's got actually going to be a World Series because the other city that they for the first time ever world series. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like this league usually only plays within our you know, plays other teams within our league, but like for some reason this year, they decided they wanted to like have a thing against Royal Oak.

Speaker: Okay. And then the next County over. um And so we, we did play against some Royal Oak teams during the regular season. But now Royal Oak is having their own playoffs, but they have a lot more teams than we have. So it's taking them longer to get through their playoffs.

Speaker: So whoever wins their playoffs is who we're going to play. And that will be the World Series game, right? on But it was like so cool how they celebrated last night and got these championship rings and everything. It was so cute. And now I don't remember why I brought it up.

Speaker: and how did i bring this up oh my god why do i do this to myself anything to do with ice cream yes thank you oh but yes yes thank you oh my god after like a lot of times after a game he wants to get like we need to get something to eat because we haven't had time to have dinner before the game or whatever right yeah like and then usually it will involve ice cream of some sort or a milkshake or something So he decided he really wanted a McDonald's strawberry milkshake and that he was asking for one before we went to the game. But I was just like, remember what happens to your stomach when you drink a lot of dairy stuff? And then remember, there's no bathrooms nearby. or games you know And he was like, oh, yeah, that's true. You know, so we didn't do that beforehand. We went to a McDonald's afterwards. No, wait.

Speaker: they're Okay, so the McDonald's that I wanted to go to, i knew there's an Arby's, like, just before it. Okay. And I was like, okay, I think I want to get myself Arby's. I would rather do that.

Speaker: And I love Arby's orange cream milkshakes that they have, like, for them for the summer, you know? And so we pull in the drive-through of Arby's, and I order... what I want and their shake machine is down.

Speaker: Oh no. And I was like, of course, because why not? Because you know, that always happens. And then i just get the food anyways that I wanted from there. Then we go to McDonald's next door and their shake machine is down oh so before i even placed the rest of my order i was just like okay never mind we're going to another mcdonald's just left it's like two restaurants next door to each other and both don't have their shake machines working being fuck you guys fuck you so we leave and we go to another mcdonald's and it

Speaker: It was fine. Like they had their ice cream and their shakes and stuff. So i ended up getting a McFlurry for myself because I couldn't get what I wanted from Arby's. Do they sell anything like any other kinds of McFlurries now besides Oreo or M&M?

Speaker: It those were the only two I saw on the menu. Those are the only two I've ever seen on the menu yeah since for years. I mean, like, i admittedly went for a very long stretch of time never so like going to McDonald's for a very, very long time. it little bit of a but A very, very long time.

Speaker: um So I don't know if it's always been the case. I felt like there was always, like, way more options. but I don't remember...

Speaker: When I was a kid and they first like came out the what came out with the McFlurry, I thought that maybe it was just my kid brain assuming that there were tons of like you know varieties.

Speaker: I don't know. yeah Not that I'm complaining necessarily because Oreo McFlurries are the only kind that i would want anyway.

Speaker: Oh, and when when I got my McFlurry, when I got home with it and started to eat it, I realized that they literally just dumped a bunch of crushed Oreos on the top and they did not blend anything in.

Speaker: course not. It wasn't blended. i was like, great. So I have sit here stick my spoon into it over and over to try and get it mixed up. And here we are just in the morning again.

Speaker: It still tasted good, though. so Well, yeah. half Half the time, it's just the ice cream that I want. m You know? Yeah. And they still sundaes, like where you could get hot fudge or something on there. and they're cheaper. They're way cheaper a regular-sized McFlurry. i miss being like three minutes away from a Dairy Queen for the drive-thru. Because that's a variety.

Speaker: yeah oh my god dude okay do you have sonic anywhere near you no okay nowhere mean like so okay i know there are sonics in the state but i think the closest one is in stoughton which is nowhere near me um Let me tell you that their dessert menu is even bigger than freaking Dairy Queen. yeah It's insane.

Speaker: There's one that's 27 minutes away in Rhode Island. Oh, wow. Like, yeah, outside of Providence. But that's, I guess that's the closest one.

Speaker: So I'll tell you, dude. like dessert So when you say dessert menu, you mean more than just ice cream. Yeah, like the different like sweet drinks, the slushes. oh well yeah, that's like that's all those.

Speaker: Yeah, I just think of them as a dessert like type of item because they're so. Yeah. But like, do they have anything besides like shakes and stuff? Yes. So like they have their version of a blizzard. Which is a fake to me No, you have to eat that with a spoon.

Speaker: You can't drink a blizzard with a straw. so that's kind of Whatever. It's all the same category for me. It's like blended ice cream. Like a Wendy's Frosty, you can't really drink with a straw. So I would never call that a shake. You know what I'm saying? But it is it is a shake.

Speaker: In my mind. it isn't. Because you drink with a straw. It's soft serve ice cream. So um the Dairy Queen...

Speaker: has you know pretty unlimited options of like things you can put in and stuff yeah and i'm trying to remember what sonic sonic calls there's a blast i believe um but i just want to declare right here right now that the sonic blast with vanilla ice cream and cookie dough is the best of any restaurant ever theirs is the best it has the best flavor and it's like oh my god it's just so much better their soft serve ice cream is better than dairy queens period right it's so good my favorite now i believe you and like yeah the last time i got sonic was in 2017 mm-hmm

Speaker: m And that was the only reason I know that there's one in Stoughton is because that's where we went. Me and my ex went to the one in Stoughton for, and it was a hike then for us.

Speaker: um It was like 40 minute drive it there from Boston. um Worthwhile, still. But I don't even remember what I got. I think I probably got like a, I got like a cherry lime slushie. Mm-hmm.

Speaker: And food. Yeah. Because that's the other thing. Like, as much as I was in the mood for ice cream last night and, you know, McFlurry will hit the spot or something like a Blizzard from DQ will hit the spot, I really don't crave dairy desserts.

Speaker: That much. So, yeah, like usually... Yeah, like a fruity beverage will do me just fine. But that's just me.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Oh my god, dude.

Speaker: when i was When I was looking at groceries for like ordering and the Walmart app, guess what I saw this early in the season.

Speaker: o god. Yeah. pumpkin spice something coffee creamumer creamer of course yes yeah yeah because it's something i got last year um and it was you know obviously it's perfect but was like you've ordered like twice or whatever i don't know it's like bought these bought this twice it's like it's back how is it available it's july yeah oh my god yeah i swear i mean like i love the fall i love it we know this this is this is well established in our platform we are fall bitches

Speaker: but it's not really valid until like at least the last third of august exactly That's what I feel, too. Honestly, and it's got to be after my birthday, actually. Before I'm really in the mood for fall things.

Speaker: It's like, I celebrate summertime through the whole summer, and I celebrate my birthday in a summertime way, and then I'm ready for fall. Yeah. yeah I remember, like I think it was the summer that we drove out there, 2021, and I had bought some stuff from like Bath and Body Works.

Speaker: Yeah, that's the name of it. um And like they had that body spray that was like pecan waffles and maple syrup or something. o It's like, but it, it almost smells like pumpkin spice. It's kind of crazy.

Speaker: It just, yeah pumpkiny it's got like, i don't know, but it's like pecan waffles pican maple waffles or some kind of thing is that where you also got the like car scented yes yes okay that's i thought so because i still have those because they don't i don't go through them super fast right i lost their own mine all of the ones that you gave me were like fall and winter scents And so the last one, the most recent one I put in, which I don't really smell it anymore, but i think it's just because my nose got used to it. All the like juice still in there um is i think it was Snickerdoodle or something or sugar cookie. i don't know. Some kind of cookie. Yeah.

Speaker: Um, but I remember the like pumpkin anyone was like the first one that i put in there it it was phenomenal. Yep. So that's, I think that I bought those the same time that I bought this particular body spray pumpkin. pick Oh, maybe I think that maybe it's pumpkin pecan waffle or something.

Speaker: Something like that. I can't remember for sure. Best of both worlds. Yeah. So you I still have that spray and it still smells good. but i bought them around the end of august because that was when we drove out like i bought them just before we drove and for some reason that was like the year that i realized the end of august qualifies for fall

Speaker: yeah for just said it's like yeah it's like the last week of august or something and i'm like ready i'm like yeah i'm the fall shit man right that's also like when you are usually gearing up for the new school year and stuff too like at work even though that's not going to apply this year um but like yeah like that's the last week of august is when you're usually like getting ready for the school year to start yep and uh same in for me always was like my birthday and then it was like a week or two left of the so of like summer vacation and then school would start always the day after Labor Day right yeah yep do you ever miss I don't miss school but do you ever miss that structure of just like being able to just like rely on like going back to school starting a new grade feeling like you're growing up and also ready to learn

Speaker: I had the worst anxiety before every single school year. oh Yeah. I was never nervous. I just like... i I was, i don't know. It was always a good kind of anticipation. I also always really loved new school supplies, but that's just my very hostellium. So did I though. and I am the least organized person in the world. oh my God. I loved like school, back to school shopping, buying supplies, getting things like ready for school. But then the day would come that it would be the first day and I would be an absolute wreck that morning.

Speaker: absolute wreck i had so much i don't know i guess it was like a social anxiety thing that i didn't really know that i had back then yeah i don't have that anymore now for the most part but like right back then it was bad and it used to really affect me and then you know because we were in the mormon households literally asked my dad for a father's blessing like priesthood blessing one night before like the first day of school because i just needed help and you know yeah yeah yeah i don't know i uh like i definitely had social anxiety but like oh i'm sorry i definitely had social anxiety but i also like i don't know i just i guess i sort of

Speaker: always looked at it as like not even i can't say low stakes because like that's not necessarily valid or or even really applicable but like it just always seemed like a fresh slate o and i was like there was never any sort of drama that was like big enough to be concerning like after uh you know you know two or three months of summer vacation yeah Like, i don't know.

Speaker: I just always think of, and this is actually a photo that if for anybody listening, you can go see on our Instagram. um I'm not going to tell you where because that means you have to like dig through all every post that we've ever posted. But there is a photo of me as a child in a little a white button up and red plaid like pleated skirt.

Speaker: With the black shiny shoes. I don't even know if they're shiny, actually. Whatever. Black shoes. And it that, to me, was like the most scholarly looking uniform.

Speaker: I want to say that was probably the beginning of like first grade, second or kindergarten or first grade. And it was definitely like, it's it's what comes to mind for me whenever I think of the first day of school.

Speaker: m Yeah. So cute. Yeah. also it's fun to think about how even if I don't have a child that is going to go to school, i can still take advantage of the back to school sales.

Speaker: And get my hands on some, you know, fun. Oh, yeah. School supplies and shit. Oh, God. It was like two, three Years ago, two years ago, i think maybe when I got the ah five subject notebook that I use for like everything now.

Speaker: And it's like only half full now. I like, I mean, I guess I use it like not super often, but like I have like, it's a five subject notebook. I have many different categories of stuff that I'm working, ah working on in it.

Speaker: but like Is it for creative writing stuff or is it just for like... for like life admin stuff. Oh, okay. Absolutely just everything that I might need to like write down and remember. But even though I've only got like gotten only like halfway through those pages, i think I'm still going get another one. If I can. Why not? I might as well.

Speaker: i think this is one of the ah friend quotes that I added for myself. Yes. I said, literally as a Virgo, there is nothing more thrilling or sexual than an empty blank five subject notebook.

Speaker: That's great. And I will stand by that fact. That's great, man.

Speaker: Oh, God. Yes, I think I'm going to get myself another one. Because why not?

Speaker: also even though I said I officially finished the ah adaptation of Kushiel's Dart um my so my television screen adaptation Kushiel's Dart I know that I said that I had I still had there were two episodes that didn't have titles though oh and I finally gave those titles today so now it's finished for this that's great yeah When we're done recording, I'll tell you what the titles are. Okay. yea

Speaker: So the question. Yes. Did you have a Trapper Keeper when you were a kid? No, ma'am. I had a binder. I had multiple binders. Do you know what a Trapper Keeper is? i have seen them. Okay.

Speaker: Isn't it just a binder? um It is like like a three ring binder that has a flap that comes over and like velcros shut to keep the binder shut and it usually comes with like folders in it uh-huh you know what i mean like three are just so like here's the question were the folders just on the inside flaps pockets of the like front and back of the binder no like separate like uh folders that open you know with pockets kind of inside of them

Speaker: okay yeah because every binder that i had always had pockets on the like inside yeah if i remember correctly it it came with ah extra like folders for different subjects inside or something yeah i think sounds very organized yeah but like i'm i'm literally gonna be looking for one for my kiddo for middle school Because he's starting middle school this year.

Speaker: Nice. Yeah, dude. Even just like, I remember even just looking at the list of like school supplies each year. i was always so excited. Yeah.

Speaker: And it's just silly. It's just so silly. i you know, i don't remember getting lists when I was a kid. i don't think they did that back then. um so you just basically bought whatever you think that you would need, you know? Yeah, they always gave, they sent out specific lists and it was different depending on the grade that you were going into. Because it was like the the supplies sort of...

Speaker: They were usually a lot of the same stuff, but like it was dependent on what the teacher decided was necessary based on the curriculum that they had planned for the year. Yeah.

Speaker: um And so it was like stuff that was those lists were mailed out like three or four weeks before the beginning of the school year. to all the kids in the area, all the students in the area. of they I assume that it's all like virtual now if there is even that kind of thing.

Speaker: that they just like you know The way that you like message your child's like teacher in an app or whatever, yes it's like everything is different now. What the fuck?

Speaker: yeah So weird. yeah i you know and The thing was, back when I was a kid, the school's Supplied a lot of the things that we would need, is especially elementary school, like they had all the glue and all the scissors and all the crayons and all the paint and paint brushes. I mean, like they had all the things that we would need like that.

Speaker: In this classroom, the teachers would buy the stuff, but I don't know if they were given a budget to buy the things with or if they were buying it on their own. I don't know. but like we didn't have to buy our own scissors, our own glue, our own things like that.

Speaker: We would just need like our pack of pencils or something, you know, in some loose leaf paper or whatever, like just that kind of stuff. No, we had to we had to get all that stuff before. Yeah.

Speaker: yeah School.

Speaker: Yeah. And we would always like go to the store with our list. Yeah. And cross things off. And then I would like spend the like last couple days of summer vacation just organizing all my supplies, getting them all ready, getting my backpack like packed.

Speaker: Yeah. And just being like so optimistic. but I miss it. and miss it it's like i i the last time that i had you know that feeling was not even really even that strongly that much but like it was um i started you know the last time i started a job which was in 2020 excuse me when i started a new job um

Speaker: And it was just like a, not like i I, that I needed to go get stuff, but I was just like, you know, in that feeling of, I want to have something to like write stuff down in and went got like a nice big notebook from target, like the office sub supply section or whatever.

Speaker: And, uh, I used that notebook into the ground. I used every single goddamn page of it. Yeah. And still have it. It's at my office where I haven't been in several weeks now, but it's still there.

Speaker: Even though it's full up. e But it's nice. it's Notebooks are great, man. think no matter how digital our world becomes, notebooks are never going to go out of fashion. Right. People are always just going to want that ability to like tactile-y write stuff down i love it yeah i'm absolutely doing that i'm it's my it's my midsummer resolution i'm going to uh get school supplies take them from the children

Speaker: There's a never-ending supply of school supplies, so don't worry about it. That's true. Capitalism. Yep. Ugh. yeah Anywho, don't know what the fuck this episode was, but that that's our episode, I guess.

Speaker: Literally bitching and moaning. Yeah. ah Sorry, but also, it's just what the way things have been. Literally, it's shit's just been fucking bananas.

Speaker: Yes. So... Indeed. We have to respond accordingly. you

Speaker: But do you feel better? We are grateful that you're here anyway. Yes. We appreciate you guys. We love you. We don't know where we'd be without you.
