Guest Introduction: Mary Rose
00:01:49
Speaker
So on this week's episode of the Outdoorsy Educator, I have our wonderfully dear good friend, Mary Rose with us today. Mary Rose, how are you? I'm doing amazing. Super excited to be here.
00:02:02
Speaker
Yeah, we just decided about, I don't know, an hour ago, if that, to record an episode. So no planning, super excited to do this. And we're all going to learn today. today It's going to be an excellent school day for us all.
00:02:17
Speaker
Mary, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and who you are? Well, my name's Mary Rose Elizabeth Wright. First of all, I'm a mama of three. 19-year-old and girl,
00:02:31
Speaker
And I live in Nitton, Texas. I am a Toltec teacher. I am a um ah hostess for international retreats now. I am a breathwork facilitator.
00:02:44
Speaker
I'm a Reiki master. I'm a realtor. I'm a Jill of all trades, I guess you could say. And um I think ultimately what I love to tell people is I am someone who makes a way out of no way. And at this point,
00:02:58
Speaker
the The ultimate vehicle that i I'm here to bring to the planet is um living water and a global prosperity movement where people can get paid to be themselves and do online branding and ah break free from what we call the matrix in a fun way to have more freedom in this world so people can live in more joy and come from their hearts and be happier.
Exploring Toltec Teachings
00:03:21
Speaker
I love it. Well, we first met, I was trying to think, I think it was 2018. eighteen i think when my wife and I went to look at a house that was for sale and you were the realtor doing the open house and we just instantly connected and you actually helped us purchase the house where we now live.
00:03:39
Speaker
um So it's just been a fantastic connection. um I am somebody that's very interested in a lot of the things you talk about. I'm sure you've heard this before.
00:03:51
Speaker
It seems intimidating. it seems It seems drastic even though it's not, and it seems huge even though it's probably actually making life a little simpler. So I'm very interested to find out you mentioned Toltec. I don't even know what that is, and I'm sure other people don't.
00:04:08
Speaker
What is that? So the Toltecs were actually a group of astrologers that believed that we lived in the waking dream. And I got involved in Toltec teachings through some incredible people that I sold a lot for a woman on my street in Little Elm, Texas.
00:04:28
Speaker
And a year later, the man I sold a lot to as a builder who ended up being a big jerk and trying not to pay me. And I had to reach back out to him, ironically, about a water line, which is hilarious.
00:04:39
Speaker
And, and I ended up having to call her asking some questions about the waterline. And she's like, that man knows there wasn't a waterline girl. He's just trying not to pay you. I'm like, Oh, that's horrible. She's like, you should come by sometime and got to know her. And I kept seeing, she was having these parties all the time. I remember thinking, I wish I could go to one of her pool parties. So it says like cars outside.
00:05:00
Speaker
What they were doing was a sacred journey breathwork. So it's a form of holotropic breathwork. and so I got invited to one and I loved it. And then I met her best friend from college, Stephanie Urbina Jones, who is the one and only country Western mariachi singer on the planet. And she plays on the Grand Ole Opry stage. She's amazing.
00:05:19
Speaker
And her husband, Jeremy Pager, with who was taken into Lakota tribe over 21 years and working in sobriety and Toltec teaching. So they taught me about Don Miguel Ruiz and they worked with his son and he is who wrote the book, The Four Agreements.
00:05:34
Speaker
which is an excellent intro book and into exactly what took me on the journey of my life was actually reading that book and recognizing that there were some interesting things in the world that I didn't, I wasn't seeing clearly, such as like people not being impeccable with their word. That's one of the four agreements. And then I started going, oh, there's like distortion and illusion. And some people are really not being very nice. And I shouldn't allow these things in my life.
00:06:01
Speaker
And so that was the beginning to me kind of stepping into becoming a co-creator of my own life versus just doing what everybody is told or just doing, you know, fitting into certain boxes and,
00:06:14
Speaker
I feel like I opened Pandora's box and I'm out here having a good time with it. So that's what Toltec is. I love it. And I've got so many questions and I'm trying my best to stay sort of disciplined because I know I'll skip over things.
Understanding Reiki and Its Benefits
00:06:28
Speaker
So the next thing want to ask you before I circle back around to that is I've heard of Reiki, but again, it's one of those things that I don't really know what it is. So could you tell me, know, how would you describe it to somebody like me?
00:06:42
Speaker
Yes. Okay. Well, first there is a great book by Ernest Holmes called how to change your life. And it's like written for babies to understand what equals MC c squared means Einstein's theory. And it's essentially explains how everything is energy.
00:06:57
Speaker
And so that was kind of like my beginning to understanding energy, like things are energy. Okay. Interesting. But it wasn't really taught that in school. So I didn't really know what to do with some of that idea.
00:07:08
Speaker
But Reiki is, was actually started by Mr. Usui, who very long time ago in Japan wanted to know how did Jesus heal with his hands? That's what his big question was.
00:07:20
Speaker
And so he went around trying to heal people with his hands and nobody was healing. And this is the story anyways. I don't know. i wasn't there, but um I love the energy of it because we can feel energy in anything like oh, I'm scared. that's I feel the energy of fear. I know I'm in joy, the energy of joy.
00:07:40
Speaker
And so he ends up apparently going to the mountains, kind of giving up and just sad and needs his moment in nature. right And um the story is that St. Germain, who's a spirit and a saint, came and gave him the same gift as Jesus, which is to heal with your hands. And so he did start doing healing work since then. It's been passed down now for a very long time.
00:08:02
Speaker
And so, you know, there's a lot of controversy for some people around that. But personally, I think that the world could all use a little bit more safe touch, especially for people who didn't get enough of touch in their lives.
00:08:15
Speaker
A lot of people who didn't love on their children or hug on them or tuck them in at night. And then we have the opposite of people who've been abused and hurt and things like that. So this is to practice safe touch and that alone has been very healing for me. So i am now certified for Reiki and I love working with clients and it's not about making money. It's about it's all love donation. If someone feels aligned and and called towards me, then it's something that I offer that's something I do all the time.
The Power of Breathwork
00:08:43
Speaker
love it. And the final sort of one of the three that I really wanted to ask you about to get a good understanding is breathwork.
00:08:50
Speaker
I've done a breathwork class before and i wasn't s skeptical, but I was, I found it tough to put myself in the position where I felt I could get the most from it.
00:09:03
Speaker
You know, you suddenly, i'm again, I'm sure this, you feel like you're the only person who feels this at the time. I'm sure it's very common. You just become very self-aware and a bit self-conscious and all of that.
00:09:15
Speaker
But I got just enough out of it to be dangerous. You know, I was like, all right, this there's something to this. If somebody came up to you and said, talk to me about breath work, how would you kind of sum it up for them?
00:09:27
Speaker
Well, I would say, first off, if you just take six deep intentional breaths, knowing that I'm going to set this time aside, I'm going to do this. It doesn't matter what is going on in your life. That alone will show you that your breath is such a powerful tool for how you're operating in your life.
00:09:45
Speaker
And we aren't taught from children like, hey, children, this is how you breathe through something that's really drastic or how you breathe through these things. um You know, sometimes people are like, hey, breathe, breathe when someone's in pain. And they kind of intuitively know that part.
00:09:59
Speaker
We don't have to go into pain before we start recognizing that our breath is connected to our nervous system. And our nervous system is how we are regulating ourselves, right? And so the way that we're interacting in the world is going to be a reflection of how well we are in connection with our bodies.
00:10:18
Speaker
And so your breath is a huge part of that. We can feel like time is speeding up or slowing down depending on the breath. And so breathwork is an intentional space where you can come and be safe to explore your breath.
00:10:34
Speaker
And the one that I work with is a form of holotropic breathwork, which they first started breathwork back in the sixties and seventies to replace the use of LSD. Cause they realized that you can go into a psychedelic state with oxygen and you're not going to die breathing.
00:10:49
Speaker
Right. And so it's a safe way for people to get out of their heads. and get into their bodies and their imagination and let go. And so the form that I work with is not a full two hours like they do for holotropic breathwork, but an hour long. And we actually use a breathwork set of music that takes you through the Toltec medicine wheel, which is a whole nother thing of your life, which is like,
00:11:16
Speaker
um People don't realize it, but even when you wake up every day, it's like you're reborn and then you die at night, kind of sort of. Like if you look at it like that, you recognize you have cycles of your life where you've done that in bigger ways too. Like, oh, that was a whole era of my life.
00:11:30
Speaker
Then I was born into this era of my life. And so what we do is a one hour like journey through your life. And um the music has no words. It's made to get you out of your mind so you're not thinking about the dishes and what you've got to put together tomorrow. Right.
00:11:46
Speaker
And so you can get into the body because our body holds the score. Our body's made of water and water holds memory. And so if you can get into a safe place with, and it might take a couple of times, you know, that's very normal for the first time to be like, Oh my gosh, what are we doing right now? This is weird.
00:12:02
Speaker
you know I thought I joined a cult. I was like, what are we doing? What are these people doing? And I didn't have anything happen. I sat, I laid on the ground trying to breathe, you know, for an hour. and I remember at the very end, I had a visual,
00:12:16
Speaker
And I drew it on a piece of paper and I put it in the middle of a vision board I ended up creating later. And that started changing my life, connecting with this visual that came through my breath work. So a lot can come up for people in breath work. Their body might start shaking. They can start crying. They might start laughing. Like it's just a free space to explore that. And oxygen is like our greatest healer around us at all times that we have access to.
00:12:42
Speaker
And we take it for granted. I think we take for granted our most basic resources all the time in regards to healing ourselves and knowing how intelligent our bodies are and to get connected with them.
00:12:55
Speaker
Most people are living in here and that's it all the time because they haven't been taught that their body is a safe place. And so this can help to loosen that up and be like, oh, this this breathwork brought up.
00:13:09
Speaker
this thing. And it's like, why did that come through? Oh, interesting. There's some attachment here. And now people will start to notice things like, oh, well, in my life, I have a repetitive pattern of attracting that same situation. It's so wild.
00:13:21
Speaker
So if you really get into it and, and keep just surrendering into it, you actually teach yourself safety that like, actually, I made this choice. This isn't about anybody else. I'm here for me.
00:13:33
Speaker
And the less that we have that fear when we walk in the world too, which is awesome. So I really, really love breath work. It really helped open me up and create safety in my body that I didn't know I was missing.
00:13:46
Speaker
I absolutely love it. So I stepped out of the K-12 public school system last year, but something i can tell you about that. No, it's a all all good, all good news.
00:13:57
Speaker
um But something that we had started doing, um and it was really down to a combination of research proving how wonderful utilising your breath is,
00:14:10
Speaker
and a lack of equitable resources. we I spent a lot of time working with children with behavioral issues and trauma and you know the research showed you know we we just talked them through some very gentle breathing exercises and miraculous things happened.
00:14:27
Speaker
and I'm very excited that that is now being utilized in public schools. There is some pushback because some people, of course, start to panic and think that what these kids are being indoctrinated into a cult because they're being taught how to breathe deeply.
00:14:42
Speaker
But it is that that we're seeing the results and we'll often have like a figure eight on the on on the wall of maybe the office. So they breathe in when they go up and things like that. And we we saw amazing results um and it didn't cost anybody a penny and it's it's remarkable how the answers to so many of our problems are right in front of us and I think that's what's fascinating me and one of the many reasons aside from the fact we are good friends I wanted to talk to you because it's
00:15:15
Speaker
i'm I think I'm like many people right now. We look outside at the world and we're going, this isn't the world we want. There is division, there's hatred. There is, it everything seems polarized to me. Whatever side of whatever it is you fall on, everyone feels like they need to take a side.
00:15:33
Speaker
And then I see little clips of people who don't pretend that life is perfect or it's easy or they're rolling stacks of physical money because they've left this. it but None of it's about that.
00:15:45
Speaker
um So I find with the journey that you, it's safe to say you've started but you're going to continue for the rest of your life, this journey you're on, um because it looks a bit intimidating to somebody like me who's You know, ah got the house and the job and the this and the, you know, the sort of a more traditional looking lifestyle.
00:16:07
Speaker
And yet, I don't think this is it for us. And Kate, to my wife, feels exactly the same that, you know, there's more than we're doing just now.
00:16:18
Speaker
um Now, what else did I've got? ah So many questions bouncing around my head. It's quite funny. How does nature play into this? because Of course, that's one of the reasons I started this podcast was we saw the results of getting children outside, even if it was having a conversation about behavior, sitting against a tree instead of in an office.
00:16:38
Speaker
And we saw huge differences. I've talked about this before, so I won't bore listeners with that again. But how does the outdoors, nature, you brought up water, air, How does that impact the way you look at life now?
00:16:52
Speaker
and Well, I was really blessed to grow up on the lake as a little girl and lived on lakefront property with a hippie mama. So I spent a lot of time running around barefoot. And I think that that is part of the reason I was called into this later in life.
00:17:06
Speaker
When that was separated from me, I can tell how I started getting sick as a child, like being in my room all of the time. um just not playing outside. my My dad actually didn't think it was safe for me to ever go outside almost at all.
00:17:19
Speaker
Always put fearful stuff on the bed about like things that were happening to girls and all this stuff. And so the fear started coming in and the less I was outside, more I
Nature's Healing Power and Grounding Practices
00:17:28
Speaker
was watching TV. and And i thankfully I read a lot of books and I think that was my biggest blessing.
00:17:33
Speaker
But now today, my best recommendation for people to really, really connect with the truth around nature is to read a book called The Healing Wisdom of Africa. And it's by Edadoma Some. And unfortunately he's no longer with us. was so upset when I found out about that. but but And he was in the Degara tribe in Africa, which is one of the last tribes that there are um in Africa, actually, which is very sad.
00:18:01
Speaker
And the indigenous culture holds so much medicine for us in regards to connection to nature that we as Westerners have gotten very separated from. And I don't think that it's about right or wrong, I believe, and the divine timing of the story that we're all a part of.
00:18:16
Speaker
But what I think is amazing is that we're now weaving these worlds. A lot of people are. There's like a missing spirit world in connection to like the planet and the elements. And then we have what had to happen, technology and advancement, all of this. is They're both very cool.
00:18:32
Speaker
And so we get to pull them in and work together now. And that's, we get to do that, which I think is great. So that book, really helped me see that there really is a whole and nother connection to life that human beings have had um that we we really need to keep remembering the importance of so that we don't leave it. Because um I think the people who are not paying attention, unfortunately, their health is going to deteriorate. And so are their children's. And so 1% of everything evolves.
00:19:04
Speaker
And there's going to be 1% of humanity that evolves. It's like, no, I'm going to focus on my health. and the education and come together. And these are, this is the future of humanity. I really believe that. And so that book helped me understand that, you know, about grounding, about nature, about connecting with it, about how it speaks to you. And so getting barefoot and feeling the energy of the earth, we are water beings on a water planet. And it sounds so silly to say that to some people oh, she's just a hippie. And I'm like,
00:19:35
Speaker
Actually, I'm very present. Like I am native of water and I have an, I'm an electrical body of water as well. right And so this planet is where we come from, like our skin and the water inside of us is like the rivers, the oceans of the ocean or the planet, you know, hippie or not. It is what it is.
00:19:54
Speaker
yeah when When did hippie become a bad thing? I don't know, it did. it one I think it's all the drugs. It might be. They've been discredited now. they've been discredited now But, um you know, it's cute. My dad bought like an electrical grounding mat the other day. like, well, I bought this for wife. She doesn't like it. Do you want it? I think actually, dad, I just go outside.
00:20:17
Speaker
And he's like, right. You know, like that. and Yeah, just outside. We don't you don't need to make mats for this to plug in inside of the house. Like outside, get the fresh air, walk around barefoot.
00:20:30
Speaker
um I've had people where i will walk outside with someone who has a lot of anxiety, who's been trying to survive and all that for such a long time, and literally just go outside and hold their hand and take a deep breath in and ask them to ground and like imagine themselves as a tree and to just root deeply into the earth and they just start crying.
00:20:50
Speaker
And if you really learn about nature, like it will take your pain and people don't realize how real this is. but we're so connected. Everything is connected. Everything is energy. And when we become into more awareness of that and take self responsibility for this, we can actually surrender deeper into trust into our true nature because we're nature. Right. And, um, yeah, we're nature.
00:21:18
Speaker
And we, I just, I've seen miracles happen in my life, the healthier that I get. And the more that I i read about these things and have a more open mind. And there's a lot of things, um,
00:21:30
Speaker
that we can heal from in nature. And it's sad that our planet is a reflection right now of a lot of pain and suffering because of the override of being um like a culture on fire. Like we are running on exhaust tubes. A lot of people like the medications now, the illnesses, the lack of nutrients in our food, you know, we need to have these things to be healthy people.
00:21:52
Speaker
And so we're like, we're like unrooted people plants, you know, walking around and we have a lot of sick people plants and, If we had nutrients and quality water again, we would start to return to origin. Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
Societal Issues and Healthier Lifestyles
00:22:07
Speaker
And I guess the more I think about it, the more I'm starting to notice things that have been right in front of my eyes for my entire life. um We live reasonably close together and...
00:22:20
Speaker
like something I notice and it's this now that I've seen it in Denton I've seen it in every town I ever go to if you look at any kind of moderately big intersection it's usually a Walgreens a CVS and then some fast food places on the other corners and I sort of look at and go web what a what a terrible life cycle this is a physical representation of because we go to one then the other then back to that one then back to the other and you know that that's when i kind of go hold on maybe there is something to looking at life a little differently and i do feel it's becoming people are more aware of it um
00:22:59
Speaker
This last weekend we were up in Virginia and at the hotel we were sitting outside, got talking to a couple and within 15 minutes the conversation turned to all the stuff that's pumped into foods and where they source their meat. They get it organically, they buy it once a year, they know the guy who who raises it and has you know his own facilities for taking care of things.
00:23:23
Speaker
And they trust him. He was explained to me that sometimes people get meat that they didn't bring in because they don't know. But he is very aware of the quality and this, that and the other. And this happened within a few minutes of meeting him.
00:23:36
Speaker
And I just I've had more and more of these conversations recently, and I don't usually start them. I think it's people are becoming aware of i don't want to live like this.
00:23:47
Speaker
um I don't want to be a statistic and part of the cycle. um Something you brought up, which I found really interesting, two two weeks ago or so, I interviewed a therapist in Portland.
00:23:58
Speaker
um My name's Amy Fraser. and I don't want to speak for her. I'll get this wrong. But she's a a counsellor. And she has moved most of her counselling sessions from an office and a couch to the hiking trail.
00:24:10
Speaker
And she goes hiking with her clients. They look for metaphors in nature. They talk about life. They talk about rebirth, seasons, all of these things. And it's safe to say she's saying seeing incredible results.
00:24:25
Speaker
And this is only going to grow. And I just feel all these different people from different walks of life. you You are not a licensed counselor. You do other things. And yet...
00:24:36
Speaker
They all keep coming together. I think there's a lesson there. um A good friend of mine, ah for you may know the Japanese term, but forest bathing is what I call it, to you know, and the name is, and he's fascinated by it and we've talked about it and I don't know, I just feel that there is a lot of hope.
00:24:56
Speaker
How do you feel about the world going forward? I actually feel really wonderful. It's taken me some time, though, to recognize that I chose to become a healthier person. And I think that for some people, the hardest part about that is that those who are not ready around you may not necessarily like that.
00:25:16
Speaker
That was the hardest part was going, I'm going to make changes because I remember deciding I wanted to change the way I ate my diet like 10 years ago, and literally just being made fun of constantly. And I didn't make it.
00:25:27
Speaker
i went like a year and went back to my old stuff and I gained 30 pounds in a month. you know right And then like, I wanted to quit drinking and it's like, Oh, there's no such, you're not an alcoholic. There's no such thing. And I'm like, I'm suffering and hurting and everyone's telling me I'm okay.
00:25:43
Speaker
This is not okay. You know? So I had to really like, we have to show up for o ourselves. And that's what we're seeing is people who are saying I'm worth it. My life is valuable. It's not a mistake that I'm here in this time and place.
00:25:56
Speaker
And I am going to say yes to myself. And it's okay if other people think I'm weird, if they think I'm crazy, if they think I'm overthinking things, if they think I'm selfish. That was the one that hurt the most. Like, how could you be so selfish and suck up?
00:26:12
Speaker
You know, I'm like, um... I don't remember force feeding you nutrients in a water, but that doesn't even make logical sense. It's not like I even just disagree with it. It doesn't make any sense.
00:26:24
Speaker
ah This is our programming that comes from even deeper storylines of how so many people got sucked into consumerism since the great depression. And I can go into that, but I won't today. It's a whole big thing I've studied, but we've actually been taught to like, you know,
00:26:39
Speaker
Well, what are they doing? That kind of thing. The gossipy way is like programmed. It's in TV, it's in movies, it's all of this. It's it's in our competitions in our schools. It's like not really listening to like who who your child is from birth and being like, what do you like to do? Versus like, you need to come here and if you don't get all these grades, I'm going to be really embarrassed because the neighbors are going wonder which college you're going to.
00:27:00
Speaker
That's not fair to do to an individual who is, we're all very unique as much as we are similar. And we have to honor this in each other. And the more that you do it for yourself, you will attract people around you who are also looking to do that. It will happen naturally. So I just really want to encourage those who are like thinking about making changes in their life. Just know that every person who makes a simple choice every day to do something just a little bit better is all that really matters.
00:27:28
Speaker
It doesn't have to be huge. It can be just what's calling you. Can you listen to that? and follow through because that's really following our intuition and that affects all of us.

Speaker
Every single day, we are all connected in that way. Like one person may have held the door open for someone that was having a bad day. It changes that person who does something else later that keeps them from, you know, not paying attention to the road and not hitting a dog later. You just don't know yeah how it works.
00:27:57
Speaker
But I think that we are, i mean, personally, I and i don't care anyone thinks. I think we're developing heaven on earth. That's what I believe. I think that in the long run, that the people today who say yes to um learning about these different ways and teachings and having the willingness and becoming healthier, we're affecting our children who affect the way that they have children. It'll change so much. Like my children are all very conscious of all of these things and they're not from fear. It's from excitement.
00:28:29
Speaker
It's from excitement, what we get to create, who we get to connect with And it's all mindset. It really is. And that's why i am so I'm a mindset mentor ah for the prosperity movement for the water and getting the quality water is a big part of this too, is because water creates life and it's the currency of actual life, not money. Money is a number and illusion in our phones that's moving back and forth all over the ethers through exchanges, but the real currency of life is water. And when we return to that in the future,
00:28:59
Speaker
um I mean, it's inevitable with the ones that are going to crumble to a system that is collapsing on itself.
Personal and Collective Growth Journeys
00:29:04
Speaker
It's deteriorating the medications, the um the processed foods with no nutrients, the big pharma system, um you know, all these big corporations that have run on greed and blackmail, you know, will not be able to sustain because the other people, we're not paying attention to that anymore.
00:29:21
Speaker
It's not about sides. It's about you do you, honey, while y'all, that's not fun. going to say focus over here because I love my babies and my children. And right I'm going to think about my future generations. I love that you've come full circle to that because when you were talking about some of the the backlash that you received when you decided to to change your life, I won't share any details because it was on your personal Facebook page, but you got a lovely message from your son recently that I imagine was a bit of a full circle moment.
00:29:53
Speaker
So and I love that you just mentioned your children again at the end, because I assume everything suddenly goes, man, no, I knew it was worth it, but now I know it's worth it when things like that happen.
00:30:06
Speaker
Yes. and this It wasn't easy coming out of the system and the mindsets of, you know, maybe majority of people at this time, but there are enough people to connect with. Like my Facebook I almost deleted it right before I started my online branding journey.
00:30:21
Speaker
And I just was so sick of the negativity and the anger and all this stuff. And it was during COVID. And um i started listening to mentors who are doing this global prosperity movement. And I just got rid of all those people out my life. It wasn't easy. it It can sound really mean and ugly, but it's not. And it's guess what? Everyone that was hating on me back then, either they went away and I became a healthier person, or they also turned around and said, you know what?
00:30:45
Speaker
You got something going on here. And people come to me now all the time and go, you I never hated on them. I never sent the hate back. That's the big deal. And yes, now my kids are like, mom, thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you for saying yes to yourself. We are so happy. Like you're happy and that makes us happy. And we can only teach our children what we have decided to do for ourselves. Thinking that, you know that listen, like do what I say, not what I do think doesn't work.
00:31:14
Speaker
It's they're watching you and we're made of water. It's a reflection. Your body holds memory. So what are you showing your children? What are you showing people? It's so much more about the walk and not about the talk. I love that. And again, now that you're talking about these things, it's bringing up little memories I have. I'm sure you've had similar things where one person, perhaps years ago, has said said something in a certain way or or addressed an issue that sticks with you because you're like man, I like the way they handled that.
00:31:44
Speaker
I'm not going to put your any of your personal business out there. Don't worry. But those I remember years ago, and I'll tell you off here what it was, somebody suggested you should do something a certain way, you you wanted to do things a different way and you just said, no thanks, but love you, thanks.
00:32:02
Speaker
where everyone else in the world was arguing about stuff. And i wrote I just remember that because like even if I agreed with that, it's not my business, but even if I agreed with that, but how can you argue? you just You extinguish the possibility for descending into negative energy and arguing and just kept on going about your way, which I really, and the fact that that has stuck with me for years, I thought that's how you handle it.
00:32:28
Speaker
That's how you do it. Pay my day. And there's a great book for anybody that needs to kind of learn about that. And it's called Let Them. It's going viral right now. The book Let Them. We don't have to control other people. Just do your thing and do it for you.
00:32:44
Speaker
Reflect back what's possible. Let go of attachment and outcomes. And when we do that, we actually get to relax. It's not about proving, pushing, forcing. That's what hasn't worked in the past.
00:32:56
Speaker
So now we get to just invest in ourselves and... learn how to really take care of ourselves and regulate that first and then find a stable place where you're like, wow, this is really good.
00:33:08
Speaker
I want to share this with people. And that that natural desire to serve will come in, which gives people so much purpose, which is why we have so many people like yourself. I love this podcast, you know, like stepping into this calling that you have. And I'm just, I love it so much.
00:33:23
Speaker
Yeah. And like said, Kate I will often sit down in evening and go like, we we love so much about our life. But we're just, we're we're evolving as everyone hopefully is.
00:33:34
Speaker
um I've had two conversations, two separate people, unconnected, have come to me in the last two months and said, talk to me about, they want to know more about camping long-term.
00:33:45
Speaker
And they know that do a lot of camping and hiking because they want to what they both called road school their children for a year. where they're not homeschooling because they don't want to stay inside their four walls.
00:33:56
Speaker
They want to take them on the road for a year, learn on the road. But how do we survive, you know, with basically all we have is our car for a year? You know, they're like, one person said to me, you know, I've got a budget of, I think she said something $10,000, doesn't matter.
00:34:13
Speaker
that sounds like a lot, but this needs to really last us a year. What do you recommend? You know, things like that. And I think it's because people want something a little different.
00:34:23
Speaker
And I love that. Even if it's something I would do or not do, doesn't matter. The fact that people are wanting to grow and evolve, I think is super, super cool. And it can, it all comes together, I believe, with getting back to who we are as human beings.
00:34:38
Speaker
Yes. People are thirsty for life. They're tired of repetition and, and their souls are, you know, not being fed. It's like, okay, eventually, like, can I do something else? There's got to be more. That's what I kept asking. is There's just got to be more. There's just got to be more. And I loved being a realtor.
00:34:54
Speaker
I loved having people buy homes. I loved all that. But it was interesting because for me, i didn't have a choice. The market crashed on me. And I kept pulling these Oracle cards that said going have a career change. And I'm like, oh, heck no, I'm not.
00:35:06
Speaker
I lived in a homeless shelter at 19 with a baby. Like, There's no way I'm going to have a career change. I make a hundred thousand dollars a year now. everyone hated me for it too. Like I got successful and then everybody hated me for that. Jealous and mean. And the next thing you know, I, I just followed my intuition. I had $250 left.
00:35:25
Speaker
And that's when I got started with online branding. And then, you know, there's something magical about really coming home to your desire. Cause when you do that, there's it's it's actually proven like when people will first fall in love, they're actually proven to be more psychic. Like they will know certain things on tests.
00:35:41
Speaker
And so it's the same thing. Like when you find your path and your sole purpose, you light back up. And we actually are like, we reflect light from ourselves. It's proven through a microscope that they use for outer space to look for planets and stuff. They put it on people and we're reflecting light.
00:35:56
Speaker
And that's why we need light food. We need light water. We were, it's a part of our energy source. And you'll see like a healthy person looks more lit up and somebody suffering from drugs and alcohol, it's gray.
00:36:08
Speaker
And so it's really awesome that when you just listen to the calling, it comes through synchronicity. And there's a great book called The Celestine Prophecy.
00:36:18
Speaker
And I think it's a really good activation. It's a fictional book, but it's it it's it's like fictional, but it isn't. It's very interesting. And it starts to activate this way of being able to see life because if you slow down enough you'll you'll see there are little signs for people for everyone to find a different path that is going to make your life a beautiful journey which doesn't mean you won't have challenges and you won't have problems but you see it in a different way and we learn to alchemize which is like turning it into for you versus to you mindset remember the first time i said dad do you think things are happening for us or to us he said
00:36:57
Speaker
the heck. right And now my dad is like alongside me like, let's go. What are we doing? Like, I thought you were crazy four years ago, but now I'm like, can I come to Bali too?
00:37:09
Speaker
But it took, you know, going through a lot of, we call it initiation in the Toltec world, like initiation. okay, this is coming up. You know, if your vision is to do all of this, then what's stopping you and why? And really taking a look at that and seeing like, well, is there some an unhealthy pattern here?
00:37:28
Speaker
Most likely there is. And then we can learn to work with it and get honest with ourselves and honesty will open up pathways all around you. It's really beautiful. I love it. Well, we're kind of coming around to the home stretch here and you've alluded to this and talked about this a bit, but I think it's really important. So i'm going to ask it one more time.
00:37:49
Speaker
What kind of world do you want to leave for our children? I want to leave a world ah where children are able to live in their Dharma, meaning that they can feel free and safe and fearless that they can share their gifts of who they really are and what they love to do, because I really believe that when children are doing what they love and they excel that, that they will turn that into something so beautiful. And because of the future of the, because of the internet and the freedom that we have to create limitless incomes and generational wealth, I really see people creating their own brands online.
00:38:29
Speaker
And my daughter's already doing it at 19 going to do what they love, sharing it with the world so we can reflect back what's possible to each other. by saying yes to ourselves and continuously reflecting this back until we live in a world that um I hope to have a picture of me in my great, great, great, great grandchildren's home. That's like, this is the lady that like broke out of the thing and why we are, you know, living connected to the planet, eating healthy food, drinking from the rivers and streams again, and in peace and healthy bodies and able to evolve into whatever humanity is going to look like in the future.
00:39:06
Speaker
knows? Yeah, it's funny. I happened to stumble across a reel this morning. It was a lady who lives in yeah in in ah in the woods. There's a stream. There's a cabin. And she said that she made the decision that she just wanted to smell like campfires and not chemicals.
00:39:22
Speaker
And so it's funny you mentioned like it, and that kind of stuck with me. But that's it's it's a good metaphor for lots of things as well as being something to actually think about. um I've got three final questions for you before we kind of wrap this up.
Redefining Success and Personal Inspirations
00:39:36
Speaker
um How is, and I'm fascinated to hear you this answer from you. How has your definition of success changed over the years? Because you've obviously had a major career and life change.
00:39:50
Speaker
I believe that success is how you feel in your body. If you feel at peace and you feel safe and you feel healthy, and like that's that's true success. um Because everything else will follow suit from there. So that's it.
00:40:05
Speaker
I love it. You've mentioned several books and often I ask people about a book that's had a particular impact on their life. So I'm going to pivot and ask you about a piece of music.
00:40:16
Speaker
If I ask you for one piece of music that's had a huge impact on your life, what comes to mind straight away? Let It Be by The Beatles. it doesn't get much better than that. I love it.
00:40:28
Speaker
And my final question for you is if, though the weather's cooling down here, hopefully this next week, if you were going to go on a 10-mile hike with anybody in the world, your your partner is excluded because that's the default answer,
00:40:42
Speaker
Dead or alive, somebody you've met, somebody you haven't met, famous, not famous, doesn't matter. Anyone in the world you could go for a 10-mile hike with and ask them questions. Who would you like to go hiking with?
00:40:54
Speaker
David Bowie. Now, you didn't hesitate for a second. yeah I love that. Do you care to share why or keep it secret? um Sure. David Bowie is The Labyrinth Moon. The Labyrinth is my favorite movie.
00:41:11
Speaker
right And I really feel like that movie, i started to realize I was living the message of that movie because in the end she says, you know, return the child that you have stolen.
00:41:22
Speaker
And I really feel like my inner child was stolen from me ah throughout most of my life and returned now because I feel safe in my body now because of the amount of healing work I've done and the people I've gotten around and the inner work that I've done.
00:41:37
Speaker
And so I think it's very fascinating that he chose to be that part in the movie of the masculine in that way, but also his um I want to, I want to jam with him, you know, he's incredible. And, and he, he wrote that song, a star, what is it? Starman. Right.
00:41:56
Speaker
And so one time I was sitting on my rooftop with a radio that was turned off and I was looking at the stars and all of a sudden, that radio turned on all by itself. And in the beginning of that song, he says, and then the radio turned on and said, and I was like, you're wondering what's happening. like Yeah. And I'd never heard that song. And I was one of his biggest fans. I didn't know that song.
00:42:20
Speaker
know, I thought of biggest fans. And so and it was all about like how the children will dance, you know, and good love it. i love that
