Natalie Richards: I was... It felt very different. Like I didn't know what to do with myself.

Felicia Devine: It's like FaceTiming someone and then being in person with them and you're like, uh...
Natalie Richards: It was so weird. It's such a different, like a different part of your brain.
Felicia Devine: I didn't watch it back though. Was it awkward looking?

Felicia Devine: I just listened. I think I listened to the whole thing.

Felicia Devine: Interesting. We'll get better at it every time we do it.
Natalie Richards: Are we gonna do that again?
Felicia Devine: A quarterly podcast meetup.
Natalie Richards: just seems like it's a very hard thing to achieve when we're in person together.
Felicia Devine: It is. Because we talk nonstop when we're together and then we're like, oh, that would have been really good to record.
Natalie Richards: yeah

Felicia Devine: so then when we actually go to podcasts, we're like, oh, this feels forced.
Natalie Richards: Yeah, kind of.
Felicia Devine: but Natalie, I would love to hear.
Natalie Richards: There's always things to say.
Felicia Devine: Cause honestly, we went back to like normal scheduled programmer where I don't talk to Natalie during the week. So Natalie, how was your travel day?
Natalie Richards: Right. And we're like in our own zones. The travel day was actually really easy.
Felicia Devine: Oh, good.
Natalie Richards: it was really easy. I almost got in an accident on the way to the airport, I will say.
Felicia Devine: How was your trip? I was going to ask you, how was your trip from my house to the airport? Cause it was still dark out.
Natalie Richards: was horrible. It was mostly dark.
Felicia Devine: Why? Yeah.
Natalie Richards: It's just people are insane. Like people driving are really, really insane.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. People are commuting into Philly.
Natalie Richards: So it was one of those where like people are just way too close to each other in traffic and they're not paying attention and they're weaving and dodging.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. And weaving and dodging. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: And then like one person doesn't stop soon enough. And then you're almost in like a five car pile up.
Felicia Devine: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Is that what happened?
Natalie Richards: But yeah, basically, I think two people hit each other and I just kind of like skirted.
Felicia Devine: Oh my gosh.
Felicia Devine: Oh my gosh.
Natalie Richards: It was like really close, but I was paying attention.
Felicia Devine: Oh. Yes, you were.
Natalie Richards: So I saw it coming, but there's still I was worried about the person behind me because I'm I was stopping in time.

Natalie Richards: But like that person, I'm like, if you're not paying attention, you're screwed.

Natalie Richards: So and they probably aren't.

Felicia Devine: It's so windy.
Natalie Richards: it's supposed to snow for the next like four days here, which is wild.
Felicia Devine: Oh, that's horrifying.
Natalie Richards: Maybe I don't know. Okay.
Felicia Devine: We've had like crazy wind storms.
Natalie Richards: Very, it's been so bad.
Felicia Devine: No, like no clouds. I don't think a cloud can hang on.
Natalie Richards: Windy, windy.
Felicia Devine: I mean, it's so windy.
Natalie Richards: I know that's so true.
Natalie Richards: It's so true.
Felicia Devine: But I guess if you're getting snow now, we probably are getting snow. Cause we usually get like the Iowa, Illinois wind storm or like storms.
Natalie Richards: You'll probably get something. Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: They move over to us usually.
Natalie Richards: I assume. And March is like, we're going to get snow.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: So thankfully my flight went off without a hitch.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: It was actually early into O'Hare, which is like unheard of.
Felicia Devine: Okay. Oh, were you good on timing?
Natalie Richards: I was great on timing and I actually got off the plane, made it to my car.
Felicia Devine: Okay.
Natalie Richards: And I was like, oh, I have like an extra hour at least. So I went and got lunch at Whole Foods and I went grocery shopping and i did all this lovely stuff.
Felicia Devine: Did you really?
Felicia Devine: good. Yeah, so you actually didn't have to like sprint to work and feel like you were like stressed.
Natalie Richards: And so I was like prepared. no I was like prepared for my week.
Felicia Devine: Okay.
Natalie Richards: And then once I got to work, I was like, oh, I'm tired. But I was, i was okay.
Felicia Devine: You had a full afternoon.
Natalie Richards: had a full afternoon. It's okay.
Felicia Devine: And then you to drive 45 minutes home.
Natalie Richards: I will never do that again because I think what happened is that set me up for not so great of a week.
Felicia Devine: Now.
Felicia Devine: Exhaustion.
Natalie Richards: because
Felicia Devine: I mean, what did you, like, what would you have done if you had to go straight to work and you didn't even get to grocery shop?
Natalie Richards: I don't know, because then I would have been behind.
Felicia Devine: You would have been even more frazzled.
Natalie Richards: far behind And then I had things like every day this week.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: Like I was really busy this week.
Felicia Devine: Did you?
Natalie Richards: So it just was, it was an odd transition back into life.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: I felt very chaotic. I think that happens when it's really windy like that.
Felicia Devine: okay
Felicia Devine: Yes.
Natalie Richards: My nervous, like my aura ring was like, what's wrong with you? Like something's something's wrong.
Felicia Devine: I had major symptoms.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: Yes.
Natalie Richards: My my like resting heart rate was so high.
Felicia Devine: Yes.
Natalie Richards: My HRV was so low for like four days straight.
Felicia Devine: h
Natalie Richards: And then I finally then got adjusted again with Bianca on Friday.
Felicia Devine: Yep.
Natalie Richards: And then I was finally like, oh my God, I can finally relax.
Felicia Devine: Did you? okay good.
Felicia Devine: breathe again. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: It was crazy. i was like, something feels very weird.
Felicia Devine: I know it did feel really chaotic.
Natalie Richards: So now I'm feeling okay. We're transitioning into the next week.
Felicia Devine: Good.
Natalie Richards: Hopefully going to the St. Patrick's Day parade today.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. What do, what is the parade?
Natalie Richards: be really fun.
Felicia Devine: Like, what do they do?
Natalie Richards: It's just like they throw candy out and they're like dressed and there's a bunch of people that are are dressed in red and orange or no green and orange. What am I saying? Dressed like leprechauns.
Felicia Devine: Leprechauns.
Natalie Richards: I am not a stitch Irish. Not even a dribble.
Felicia Devine: Oh.
Natalie Richards: I love St. Patrick's Day. Remember in the Quad Cities how it was like such a thing?
Felicia Devine: Do you?
Natalie Richards: And I had my like green shamrock Flava Flav like the necklace.
Felicia Devine: it was such a thing in the Quad Cities. Yes. Yes. Wait, do you still have it? Are you going to bring it today?
Natalie Richards: Oh, I still have it. I'll take a picture of it.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: so I just, I love St. Patrick's Day. I love dressing up.
Felicia Devine: That's crazy.
Natalie Richards: I love the parade.
Felicia Devine: I only liked it in the Quad Cities.
Natalie Richards: Yeah, because it was a big celebration there.
Felicia Devine: It was a huge celebration.
Natalie Richards: huge.
Felicia Devine: And yeah was it?
Natalie Richards: And when I was in Milwaukee, huge celebration, huge.
Felicia Devine: Okay.
Natalie Richards: And Chicago's huge. Like it's just a, I,
Felicia Devine: I honestly forgot about St. Patty's Day until you literally showed up in green and I was like, oh cute shirt. You're like, there's a parade today. And I guess St. Patty's Day is this week. So it will have happened by the time this airs.
Natalie Richards: Yes, it is. Yeah. By the time it's there.
Felicia Devine: Yeah, but that's okay. I'm not missing much.
Natalie Richards: Oh,
Felicia Devine: i don't I'm not a girl that loves an Irish beer. I'm not a girl that loves Irish food.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: And I'm not a girl that is a fan, particularly of Irish music.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: Right. And that's fine. Gene. Gene keeps turning my microphone off, you little stinker. Go somewhere else.
Felicia Devine: It's off.

Felicia Devine: He is a little spitfire today. You're like, maybe we should podcast at the office again. Okay.
Natalie Richards: Oh, the thought of that, though.
Felicia Devine: So you started your week chaotic, but it ended off being like pretty okay.
Natalie Richards: Yes. Now I feel like, yeah, I feel like things are okay now.
Felicia Devine: Okay. What's your weekend looking like?
Natalie Richards: I know.
Felicia Devine: Are you guys like overly committed or is it just a few things?
Natalie Richards: It's pretty much just the parade today. And then we've got... A creature show, like a reptile show tomorrow in Chicago.
Natalie Richards: Like the biggest reptile show in the country is what my brother said.
Felicia Devine: Oh no, you're coming home with a chameleon.
Natalie Richards: And my brother's like ready to like buy something. My brother's like going to buy a boa some of some sort.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: An Amazonian rainbow boa or something.
Felicia Devine: What are you going to buy?
Natalie Richards: Nothing.
Felicia Devine: Gene, you're going to get him his chameleon.
Natalie Richards: not Oh, no no no, no, no, no. No, he hasn't fulfilled his end of the deal.
Felicia Devine: No. Oh, is this the potty training chameleon?
Natalie Richards: The potty training deal.
Felicia Devine: Okay.
Natalie Richards: Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Gene, I don't think that you're ready for that.
Natalie Richards: So, nope, he's not.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. So that can be a lesson learned.

Natalie Richards: That's right. Otherwise, he would have come home with a chameleon today if he followed the plan.
Felicia Devine: hu Yeah, yeah.
Natalie Richards: So that's the that's the weekend.
Felicia Devine: oh poor poor Seppy had an accident yesterday.
Natalie Richards: he did... yes.
Felicia Devine: Yes.
Natalie Richards: oh what was it
Felicia Devine: I was in a meeting. So Dan was with Seppy and the landscaping company was here going over our plans for the backyard. So Dan and Sepp were outside with the landscaper Seppi kept trying to go inside.
Felicia Devine: And Dan's like, oh, maybe he's cold. Like he kept trying to like open the door.
Natalie Richards: Oh no.
Felicia Devine: And Dan's like, oh, like, I don't know. And then all of a sudden he walks up to Danny who goes, Seppi stinky. Sorry.
Natalie Richards: Oh no.
Felicia Devine: Sorry, Seppi stinky. And Dan's like, oh, you have to go potty.
Natalie Richards: Oh poor baby.
Felicia Devine: He's like stinky. And he had already gone potty in his pants.
Natalie Richards: Okay.
Felicia Devine: And dan Dan felt so bad.
Natalie Richards: That makes sense.
Felicia Devine: He was like, it was my fault, Seppy, because Seppy kept being like, sorry, sorry.
Natalie Richards: Oh. Oh.
Natalie Richards: Sweet boy.
Felicia Devine: But the poor kid.
Natalie Richards: He was trying. He did.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: He did his end of the deal. And that's great.
Felicia Devine: He did his end of the deal. And Dan was like, honestly, I'm not surprised that he wasn't like poo-poo because like there was a stranger around. So I think he was like trying to get inside to go potty and didn't want to tell Dan exactly why.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: I see. He was trying to be polite.
Felicia Devine: yeah So it was just so sad because he was like seppy stinky.
Natalie Richards: Oh, poor baby. so
Felicia Devine: So yeah, that was a sad little accident.
Natalie Richards: Oh,
Felicia Devine: But I know.
Natalie Richards: yeah it's okay. it happens i mean he's literally not even two he's doing great
Felicia Devine: Yeah. I know.
Felicia Devine: i I had a mom at the office the other day because I was like, oh, so do you have to go potty? And the mom goes, how old is he? And I didn't know what she was referencing. And I was like, I think he's like, I think he just turned 22 months.
Natalie Richards: right
Felicia Devine: And she's like, what? And I was like, yeah. And she's like, and he's potty trained? And I was like, oh, yeah. yeah I was like, yeah. And she's like, OK. And her kid's like, you know, I don't even know.
Felicia Devine: I don't even know what age her kid is. But it was just funny because I was like, I don't know what you're referencing here.
Natalie Richards: It's definitely not the norm anymore. That's for sure. It's great.
Felicia Devine: No. Yeah. And like, I don't think I wouldn't have forced it. Like I wouldn't have made him potty train, but he was showing signs that he wanted to.
Natalie Richards: Great. He was ready.
Felicia Devine: And it's been a lovely journey. I don't regret any of it.
Natalie Richards: You go for it. Oh God. No, no, no, no.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. And I don't know. Sometimes I feel like people do like the three days naked, but I think that's the older kids that never would have worked for Giuseppe.
Natalie Richards: I know it is. That's for older kids. If you're, At 18 months, you can just do it. It doesn't have to be. It's just like they just learn how to do it.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And he didn't.
Natalie Richards: And I wish I would have. Jean was ready at that time too.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. He didn't do the three days naked, but it did. I mean, he would still wear diapers out in public for a long time.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: Like I think two or three months he still was in diapers in public.
Natalie Richards: Which is fine.
Felicia Devine: But yeah. And it wasn't necessarily because I was like, oh, he's going to pee and poop all over the place. It was just so that I didn't have to worry about taking him to a potty in public. That was a me thing.
Natalie Richards: Right.
Felicia Devine: Because he's he still doesn't even fit on like a toddler seat.
Natalie Richards: Totally.
Felicia Devine: Like we have one of those like foldable toddler seats that you put on the seat like in public.
Natalie Richards: Totally
Natalie Richards: on top. h
Felicia Devine: He's still too tiny for that.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: So I'm like holding him and his pants are on his ankles so he can't open his legs.
Natalie Richards: He's a teeny little, oh, it's, I know that's what's so hard.
Felicia Devine: So then he's one time he like peed all over his pants and his underwear and his shoes and socks because I couldn't even get him like correctly positioned on the toilet. So then I was like, that's even more annoying.
Natalie Richards: Right. It's hard.
Felicia Devine: But now I just bring that collapsible one and it's his size.
Natalie Richards: I know my mom said, yeah, which is that's I have one of those too.
Felicia Devine: It's perfect.
Natalie Richards: think Gene is too big for that now. Like the one I have for my car and I'm worried about that.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: like he's so tall.
Felicia Devine: Oh, he is so tall.
Natalie Richards: I don't knowt know how long.
Felicia Devine: He would be literally in like squatty potty form.
Natalie Richards: Yeah, but that's just for pooping, I guess, which is fine because he can pee on the side of the road if he had to.
Felicia Devine: yeah.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: don't care.
Felicia Devine: it might still work for him.
Natalie Richards: and think it might work.
Felicia Devine: It's honestly, I saw a lady post that she was using it in her car cause she was pregnant and she was like, I had to pee and I had nowhere else to go. And I just sat on this potty in the seat.
Natalie Richards: If, yeah. If you have to, you have to.
Felicia Devine: You could do it like this, Natalie. If you use it in the car, you could put it on the seat that doesn't have the the car seat.
Natalie Richards: That's true.
Felicia Devine: And he could sit on it and have his legs towards the ground and not like his feet on the actual ground, you know?
Natalie Richards: That's very true. And then his legs don't have to be like squooshed up.
Felicia Devine: Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: Yeah, that's very true.
Felicia Devine: He reminds me of like Elf, the movie Elf.
Natalie Richards: Or in the trunk. he He is litter and everything is miniature sized.
Felicia Devine: Like he's, yeah, he's too big for things for his age.
Natalie Richards: Yeah, he has like this little bike from last year and he looked at and he goes that's too tiny for me.
Felicia Devine: Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: That's too tiny.
Natalie Richards: I know, Jean, it's always been too tiny for you.
Felicia Devine: that That's a too tiny bike.
Natalie Richards: When you were a year old, it was too tiny for you.
Felicia Devine: oh my gosh.
Natalie Richards: His proportions are just not, it just doesn't work.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: It just doesn't work. and So.
Felicia Devine: Sep is finally getting the concept of like proportions or sizes, I guess.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: So if something is really big, he'll be like big.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: And then something that's small, he'll go tiny.
Natalie Richards: Oh, that's so cute.
Felicia Devine: He'll be like tiny pee pee. Like if he just barely pees or like, he's like tiny grape.
Natalie Richards: He was so cute the whole time.
Felicia Devine: like
Natalie Richards: oh I just love him. His like hand motions of like pointing down, it just like, I don't even know what to how to explain it.
Felicia Devine: I know. Oh, he loves a point. He loves a point. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: It's like he takes his whole hand and his pointer finger up and it's bobbling.
Felicia Devine: And he's whole hand and it's a flick up and down.
Natalie Richards: It's like a bobble head finger.
Felicia Devine: And he goes, and it's mostly no words. And he's just like, like you had it. yeah.
Natalie Richards: He looked at me when we sat down for dinner, like the second the second night.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: It wasn't the first night. First night, he's like, what are you doing at my house?
Felicia Devine: Yes. Yes.
Natalie Richards: Second night, he looks at me, points at me, moves his finger, his hand up and down, points to the seat.
Felicia Devine: Mm-hmm.
Natalie Richards: And he just goes, you, sit.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Sit. Sit. Yeah. He's a character.
Natalie Richards: He's so cute.
Felicia Devine: He's a lot of fun. I have i have no quarrels about spending time with him.
Natalie Richards: Oh, no, he's great.
Felicia Devine: Not at all. I'm not, I never identify with a mom that's like, oh, like Friday scaries.
Natalie Richards: He really is great.
Felicia Devine: Like now I spend the whole weekend with my kid. I'm like, that sounds great.
Natalie Richards: Oh, I know. That's kind of sad. I know.
Felicia Devine: that That sounds great to me. That sounds like my kind of paradise alone time with my family.
Natalie Richards: That's so cute.
Felicia Devine: Okay.
Natalie Richards: I know. That's really sweet.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. So, did I tell you Shane Amanda are going to Disney?
Natalie Richards: You did.
Felicia Devine: so I'm like,
Natalie Richards: You did. And do you know how many ads I've gotten for the private tour at Disney since we talked about it?
Felicia Devine: Girl, I think the next time we do Disney, well, you're going again in November.
Natalie Richards: I think we do it. I know, but have a little
Felicia Devine: I can't go.
Natalie Richards: We have a little blip where you can't come come on the annual Disney trip this year.
Felicia Devine: i have an occasion to attend to.
Natalie Richards: And why is that, Felicia?
Felicia Devine: Oh, because I'm pregnant. So most, I mean, if you listen to our podcast, the only place we advertise our podcast is social media. So you probably already know this.
Natalie Richards: like
Felicia Devine: I mean, but who listens to our podcast? Well, I don't know, actually, because there's people in other countries that listen to our podcast.
Natalie Richards: No, I think there's, I think there's plenty of people that listen that are not social media people.

Felicia Devine: I'm pregnant. Turns out it works.

Natalie Richards: And you just on a whim decide to take a test while I'm there.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.

So when I was testing for Giuseppe, the all the tests that are like name brand say like, I think it's, is it six days before your missed period is like the typical window for like name brand.

Felicia Devine: Yeah, like clear blue, first response, like all those.
Natalie Richards: That maybe you can detect.
Felicia Devine: Right. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: i don't even, yeah, maybe five or six.
Felicia Devine: If you don't pee for 24 hours and then you pee in a stick.
Natalie Richards: Right.
Natalie Richards: Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: And I was testing, I think, six days before my missed period with Giuseppe and it was like negative every single day. and I was like, well, maybe I'm just like making this up in my head. But like I was exhausted, but I had also just run a ten k
Natalie Richards: You felt different already, right?
Felicia Devine: And yeah, I was like, my boobs felt sore, but I was like, well, maybe I'm just having a more symptomatic period.
Natalie Richards: With it.
Felicia Devine: And I was like, oh, I don't know. I'm just like not testing positive, even though these tests are like test positive before.
Natalie Richards: Overthinking.
Felicia Devine: like So it comes to the day I'm supposed to get my period and I wake up and I'm supposed to fly to see Natalie that day. So I was like, well, I didn't like wake up to a period.
Felicia Devine: So i'm like, maybe. so I did it. I got in the shower. And when I got out of the shower, there was the most faint whisper of a line. And I was like, oh my gosh, I think this worked.
Felicia Devine: But it was like so light, so faint. And it was the day of my missed period.

Felicia Devine: And so that was my experience.
Natalie Richards: with the first
Felicia Devine: With the first. Okay. And he was a lovely, beautiful, healthy pregnancy, fully stuck. Like it wasn't any, I had no complications.

Felicia Devine: So then coming to this period or to this cycle, I was laying in bed.
Natalie Richards: This is your first time fully trying. I just want to like say first time fully trying.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. This is the first time. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: However, many months, many months of preparing.
Felicia Devine: Fully trying and tracking.
Natalie Richards: Right.
Felicia Devine: we, cause like I was still much more like heavily nursing. We were very much not sleeping in November.
Natalie Richards: Great.
Felicia Devine: Like, so it was like, Hey, if it happens, it happens. But this was the first time we were like, actually like, these are the days we should try.
Felicia Devine: so it comes to Saturday morning. Yes.
Natalie Richards: Yeah, Saturday morning.
Felicia Devine: No, Sunday morning. Cause it's a, za the photo shoot Saturday. We went shopping
Natalie Richards: Oh, it was the day of the photo shoot.
Felicia Devine: Sunday.
Natalie Richards: Wait.
Felicia Devine: Cause you left Monday.
Natalie Richards: No, because i washed my hair Friday night and then I did my hair Saturday morning.
Felicia Devine: No, you didn't. No, you didn't. You, didnt you wash your hair Saturday night.

Felicia Devine: Yes. You got here Friday.
Felicia Devine: You didn't wash your hair after we eat burgers. you ate your You wash your hair if we eat sushi.

Felicia Devine: Okay. So, So the only thing I can think of is i was laying in bed and I was like, oh, let me check my aura ring. Cause I love, so the weird thing was when Natalie was here, Giuseppe slept through the night three times, twice, two or three times, which is crazy.
Natalie Richards: Yes.
Felicia Devine: I'm like, maybe Natalie's fending off like bad energy in this house. So that's literally what I thought. So I'm like, ooh, let me look at my sleep data. So I pull up my phone. It's early, early Saturday morning.
Felicia Devine: No, Sunday morning. It's early, early Sunday morning. And I pulled my phone and I'm looking at my Oura Ring. And I like my Oura Ring has like your your period prediction. And it was predicting my period to start Tuesday.
Felicia Devine: and I was like, well, it's Sunday and I'm supposed to get my period Tuesday. Oh, I guess I'm in that window you can test.
Natalie Richards: Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: And I was like, I might as well try.
Natalie Richards: Might as well.
Felicia Devine: and I didn't have any inclination that it would be positive because A, I didn't test positive until the day of my missed period. And B, I didn't have any of the symptoms I had when I was pregnant with Giuseppe.
Felicia Devine: So i was like, I'm not, I had no like, ooh, butterflies.
Natalie Richards: Right.
Felicia Devine: Like I really just like did wash my face, like put on my lotion, was just like standing around.
Natalie Richards: Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: And i was like, oh, it's been five minutes.
Natalie Richards: Just like going through the motions.
Felicia Devine: Like, I just really was like chill about it. Cause I was like, honestly, I'm just like trying to like gather data.
Natalie Richards: Right.
Felicia Devine: So it wasn't even like I was like sitting there like fingers crossed and I wasn't going to be sad if it wasn't positive because I was like, I still have time.
Natalie Richards: Exactly.
Felicia Devine: So I was like, Hey Dan, I'm going to take a pregnancy test. And he's like, okay, I'm going to take step down. I'm going to start coffee. Let me know when it's done. And I was like, okay.
Natalie Richards: hmm.
Felicia Devine: And like, again, i didn't even think it was going to be positive. So I just flipped it over in the bathroom by myself. And I was dumbfounded. I mean, I literally recorded like a five minute clip of me, like gaping mouth, like couldn't talk.
Felicia Devine: And I was like, is this real? I like couldn't believe it. It was a darker line.
Natalie Richards: It was a line.
Felicia Devine: Like it wasn't faint like it was with Giuseppe.
Natalie Richards: Did you take a picture of them?
Felicia Devine: It was like a line. Yeah, I have them.
Natalie Richards: Oh my gosh. It was like to be that day in that dark.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. In that dark, twins.
Natalie Richards: Was pretty crazy. I'm not saying it's not.

Felicia Devine: Cause he's down making coffee thinking like I will come get him when it's ready.

Felicia Devine: I was just expecting it to be negative.

Felicia Devine: and he was like, why are you laughing? He's like, did you already, is it positive? Do hear you already look? And I'm like, no, I can't lie. i can't lie.

Felicia Devine: So I'm like, come up, we'll look at it together. So I like recorded it. And he's like, oh, I don't want to be on social media. I was like, oh, don't worry. Trust me. I already recorded Okay.

Natalie Richards: i No, I was like, are you kidding?
Felicia Devine: Because it wasn't the plan.
Natalie Richards: we had been We had muscle tested you two days before though.
Felicia Devine: Yes. Two days before. And you were like, eh.
Natalie Richards: And it was like, it was a maybe for sure.

Natalie Richards: Like it wasn't like a strong, absolutely yes, but I had a feeling I was like, eh, but it very well might be.

Felicia Devine: I got to tell Natalie in person the day i got pregnant with these babies. And I'm like, this is so exciting.

Felicia Devine: She's like, think of this was her analogy. Think of a hamster ball. Okay, so like the ball that you would put a hamster in on the floor so it doesn't like get stepped on or run away.

Felicia Devine: And she said, think of that size and then think of the sun, like fire pulsating in energy and pulsating out and just like tons of energy.

Felicia Devine: And I said, that's lovely. That means a very strong, healthy pregnancy.

Felicia Devine: She did not because we had so many other things to focus on. And she kind of just like moved on. But she did say, she goes, were you nauseous with your first pregnancy? And I said, yes.
Natalie Richards: So bad.
Felicia Devine: I said, very nauseous, very long. And she's like, she's like I'm getting that you're going to be nauseous, but not as nauseous.
Natalie Richards: Trying to prevent that.
Felicia Devine: And it's not going to be nearly as long. She said, probably through April.
Natalie Richards: Fair enough.
Felicia Devine: And I was like, oh, I can do hard things.

Felicia Devine: I was nauseous for almost five months with Giuseppe.

Felicia Devine: So I've just been drinking ginger lemonade that I make. Oh, my ice cubes.

Felicia Devine: I've just been doing two ice cubes, minerals, salt, and then I've just been drinking this throughout the day and I'll just remake it as I need to.
Natalie Richards: In water.
Natalie Richards: Love.
Felicia Devine: I'm not nauseous yet, but I don't want to get nauseous. So I'm like doing all my preventatives, my minerals, my ginger.
Natalie Richards: No.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: So yeah.
Natalie Richards: Yeah. I hear six weeks is kind of like the turning point.
Felicia Devine: I got sick with SEPF at five.
Natalie Richards: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. So I'm just like, i know, I know.
Natalie Richards: That's what I opened was like always waiting. i was waiting. I'm like, oh, five weeks, six weeks. And then nothing really ever happened.
Felicia Devine: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Natalie Richards: Thank God. But keep doing your liver, your liver and your, all that stuff.
Felicia Devine: But yeah, my, yes.
Natalie Richards: And that should help a little bit too.
Felicia Devine: Yep, and I'm taking my supplements, so I'm not gagging on them yet. I have no symptoms.
Natalie Richards: And constant, constant protein, constant.
Felicia Devine: I honestly he feel you're, like, i don't know how to describe it. I feel like euphoric, which is funny because I feel more energized than I felt postpartum.
Natalie Richards: I love that.
Natalie Richards: Oh.
Felicia Devine: And I don't know if it's because Giuseppe has slept through the night like three or four times in the past week, which he doesn't do.
Natalie Richards: Maybe. Maybe.
Felicia Devine: So I'm like, am I riding a high that's like false?
Natalie Richards: Right, right.
Felicia Devine: But I feel really good. I really have slowed down on the coffee just because it doesn't like sound appetizing. Yeah.
Natalie Richards: That's what happened to me too. i was like, no, I don't want it.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. When I was pregnant with step, I couldn't even smell it.
Natalie Richards: No.
Felicia Devine: I hated the thought of coffee. And now I just like have a little and I'm like, that's fine.
Natalie Richards: Mm-hmm.
Felicia Devine: Like I don't need a ton, but I'm like energized. I feel good.
Natalie Richards: Amazing.
Felicia Devine: And I understand it's going to get harder, but I'm living in the moment because I know what not feeling good feels like.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: So like the days I feel good, going to tell everyone,
Natalie Richards: No kidding.
Natalie Richards: And you were exhausted, right? Like with Giuseppe, like couldn't function exhausted.
Felicia Devine: Literally narcoleptic. Like we would be out with friends, out at family members' houses. I was falling asleep in chairs, sitting upright, falling asleep in conversations.
Felicia Devine: Like, isn't that crazy?
Natalie Richards: I think that part is going to be very different for you this time.
Felicia Devine: I hope so. We were at an airport. I was eight weeks pregnant. We were flying home from Michigan. We're sitting in the terminal waiting to board the plane up with hundreds of strangers around.
Felicia Devine: Okay. If you know me, you know, I can't fall asleep in public. Like I've never fallen asleep in class.
Natalie Richards: No.
Felicia Devine: I will not fall asleep in an airplane terminal. Like I'll fall asleep on an airplane, but that's more private.
Natalie Richards: No.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: We're sitting in the terminal. I've, I was passed out sitting upright. I was like, And Dan's like, oh no, you're going to out this.
Natalie Richards: with oh my god oh yeah this is also very interesting yeah
Felicia Devine: Because at that point, we still hadn't told people. So I think hiding it also was exhausting because I was trying to fake it. Oh, I'm pouring out white claws and filling them with water.
Felicia Devine: Or I'm like, oh, I'm carsick. No, I'm just nauseous.
Natalie Richards: that is exhausting yep oh my gosh
Felicia Devine: Like, I love this. People know. I can be like, yeah, I'm pregnant. And i like I'm going to tell you how i how it is. So I don't know. It's not for everyone. I don't think everyone likes sharing this early. But like,
Felicia Devine: I had no joy in my body when I shared I was pregnant with my family, which was devastating to me because in my head, I'm like, going have this grand reveal and it's gonna be funny and everyone's going to laughing and crying and happy.
Natalie Richards: No kidding.
Felicia Devine: i literally was like, just rip the bandaid off. We were driving home from Shay and Amanda's one night and we stopped at the gas station to get a cinnamon bun so that we could go to his parents' house and just do it because I was like, I just need to rip the bandaid off.
Natalie Richards: Oh.
Natalie Richards: Hmm.
Natalie Richards: I didn't get it over with.
Felicia Devine: I'm literally so ill.
Natalie Richards: Oh, yeah, you can't hide that.
Felicia Devine: So now I can like tell people and I'm like, yay. Like I'm excited.
Natalie Richards: Right. And it's like, oh, I'm feeling kind of kind of sick today because I'm pregnant.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: you know give me a little Give me a little grace.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. And it's like, okay to say that.
Natalie Richards: I think it's okay.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: And you know what? There's something about like even if something weren't like were to happen or whatever, like then you have people who know and they you're not dealing with that alone either.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: Great.
Natalie Richards: i think it's okay.
Felicia Devine: Exactly.
Natalie Richards: But whatever people decide to do, I think is A-okay.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Yeah.

Felicia Devine: But I don't think I should be like, maybe look down upon because I am sharing early.
Natalie Richards: No, I don't think so at all.
Felicia Devine: And I feel like maybe some people, I had somebody in my office, the poor girl, she had no idea. i i recently was introduced to her and she goes, I saw your thing on Instagram.
Felicia Devine: And I go, oh yeah. And she goes, is it real? Are you actually pregnant?
Natalie Richards: would be horrible.
Felicia Devine: I go, yeah. She's like, oh, I didn't know. Maybe it was an ad for a company.
Felicia Devine: i go, oh my God, that would be so mean.
Natalie Richards: horrible
Felicia Devine: So all of you listening, just know I'm actually pregnant.
Natalie Richards: Wow.
Felicia Devine: This is not a scam. This is not a stunt.
Natalie Richards: and I actually when you announced it that day, I wasn't expecting that you were going to announce the real thing.
Natalie Richards: right
Felicia Devine: What did you think I was going to do?
Natalie Richards: I honestly when I was watching the video, was like, I thought you were going to take like Dan's pee for a couple of days and have like. Like fake false, like fake negative ones.
Felicia Devine: Really?
Natalie Richards: And then announced it. I don't know what I thought you were going to do.
Felicia Devine: No, people were like shocked I actually announced it.
Natalie Richards: And then I was like, oh my gosh, she actually did it. i was glad that you did.
Felicia Devine: Yeah.
Natalie Richards: but I just wasn't expecting it.
Felicia Devine: I think a lot of people were caught off guard because i mean, part of my thing is when I first made the commitment to this is like, I wanted to be true to the fact that I was like posting in real time.
Natalie Richards: i know.
Felicia Devine: So like I did wait two days so that I could tell family. I didn't want anybody to find out online.
Natalie Richards: Which, No, no, no.
Felicia Devine: and then I told a few of my closest friends and I was like this, like I shared the day after I missed my period. So like,
Natalie Richards: I know, which is crazy. Yeah.
Felicia Devine: I guess, wait, so I tested positive Sunday. i shared Wednesday. So really like three days.
Natalie Richards: Yeah.
Felicia Devine: But I think that's still pretty much in real time, right?
Natalie Richards: I would say yes, because you that's when most people would find out maybe like,
Felicia Devine: and
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Yeah. And like some people probably don't, don't know they're pregnant then still.
Natalie Richards: no.
Felicia Devine: so I just wanted to be authentic about that and not feel like I'm like putting on a stunt and then like hiding when it actually is hard.
Natalie Richards: Right.
Felicia Devine: Cause it is, I mean, like a lot of people do not share for at minimum 12 weeks with their family, let alone the internet.
Natalie Richards: Yep.
Natalie Richards: Exactly. i know. And the things that you're going through during those first 12 weeks, like that's, you that's when you need the support.
Felicia Devine: Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. I mean, it's a risky move, but I'm willing to take it because I feel good and I feel confident and i am ready for like the next phase, you know?
Natalie Richards: I think it's great.

Felicia Devine: So we'll see. I don't know. It might be a very different pregnancy.
