Speaker: but We were just playing the drums. Welcome to Classy on occasion. Pretend drums. This week we are taking it or leaving it. ah fun quick episode as we talk about some things such as decorative hand towels. Dun, dun, dun. And your opinions and thoughts on surprise parties, talking to strangers in the bathroom, and more.
Speaker: Stay tuned. Hello.
Speaker: I learned something about myself the day before yesterday. um Turtlenecks are not in for me. I think it was a combination of the turtlenecks with the very busy pattern.
Speaker: Yeah. I don't know. I think a turtleneck like without sleeveless or halter style turtleneck would be. because your arms are so buff. oh Oh, it's not the 12 to 15 pounds I can lose. It's my buff arm.
Speaker: think that would look good. So I think it was the combo if we are to. Do you like turtlenecks? Oh, I don't like turtlenecks. Yes. Yes and no. Yes. I don't mind. I like where they look. I wore one yesterday.
Speaker: You did. It looked really good on you. But if they're itchy, I can't stand itchy things. And you're sometimes like, I can't breathe. And you have anxiety over suffocation and you're not actually suffocating. Well, no. Clearly we know what bothers you.
Speaker: Mine is more I'm just constantly... like to be very comfortable what I'm wearing. So I try to find things better. But you're the cutest comfortable stuff. It's funny how people say that. I think I don't look that cute. I look frumpy and then you look cute. No, you look awesome.
Speaker: Anyway, I don't like things that are itchy. i don't like the fact of multi-layer. i'm not have Except for a jacket, I don't mind. But like people that wear the collared shirt and the sweater over, no, it's too too much for me. I hate wintertime for the fact of having to wear so many clothes. Yeah.
Speaker: It just makes you feel heavy and then you're like, ah, feel like I look frumpy. And no matter what you're wearing sometimes. Yeah. Even if it's like a really cute sweater, you're like, gross. Yeah. It's too much.
Speaker: then spring comes and then you're also like, gross. Anyways, that's what we do to ourselves. are we. Welcome to Classy on Occasion podcast. Classy on Occasion. We did say occasion. Yeah.
Speaker: body shaming ourselves in the morning Let's not do that. Okay. So we're just going to do a fun episode, take it or leave it. Um, and kind of how you feel about it.
Speaker: Okay. Decorative towels that you can't use. Leave it, take it, but with a towel that you can use behind it.
Speaker: So layer your towels in the bathroom. or in the kitchen if it's something really cute and it's maybe it's seasonal or maybe it's a really funny i mean we saw we saw some really funny towels when we were out yeah hand towels and we were out shopping but they're like paper and you're i can't dry shit with this so it's useless well i gotta to confuse your guests they're like which towel do i use i don't know now i don't know i made your bathroom look frumpy because i used the wrong towel don't invite them over anymore All right. So maybe, it maybe an opportunity, but yeah. I mean, there are so many cute and useful towels. Buy the ones that you, that are like, I want to say paper. Oh yeah. The napkin ones.
Speaker: Oh, that's a good idea. ah Solves. Next. Airport margaritas before noon. I'm actually headed there in about 30 minutes. So. Well, pre-cancer, airport, any alcohol, no matter what time of day.
Speaker: I would go to the airport too early just to go through the bar and have a champagne or a Prosecco. And people watch my, gosh. And I don't want the stress. i don't know if this questions, but. airport early or not, I'll add on to your question because I'm going to get there two hours early no matter what, because I can't stand the anxiety of the TSA, the line is long, now I'm watching, and we're going to miss a flight, it's too much. Where's my gate? where I'd rather just get there too hours was early, go find a bar and have a drink. Now, now that I don't drink that much, guess I'll have to like read.
Speaker: You can tell people watch. Well, especially flying out Nashville. I mean, you got some tunes. and ah So you're the person. I've seen a couple memes. You're the person who makes sure that your gait actually exists, and then you go get your drink. Yeah, I do. I walk to my gait, look at it, make sure it's the right one.
Speaker: And then it's a big joke between me and Joy because he goes, okay, okay what time your flight? And let's say it's at 10. He'll go, okay, so we're leaving here about 5 a.m.? I'm like, okay.
Speaker: Yeah, Norfolk International, which is funny that it's international. i Stoney dropped me off to come see you, and he was like 10 minutes down the road. I was like, sitting at the bar.
Speaker: Plenty of time. Yeah, tiny little airport. All right. um Surprise parties. Wait. For you. was just going to ask you. Exciting or anxiety? I'm trying remember if anyone's ever done one.
Speaker: Oh my gosh. If anyone's ever done one, I don't recall. All right. So all of our listeners, we have to throw a surprise party. What about you?
Speaker: um i love it. I love being surprised.
Speaker: I love being surprised like with things and I love being surprised. That would enjoy surprising with a trip to Mexico. I mean, not the day that we were leaving. He told me, but he surprised me with it. I didn't know. He worked it out with my friend, Danielle, to make sure I had coverage at work.
Speaker: I like that, but I don't, I don't like surprises that aren't fun. Like surprise. and need you to pick up the girls today. Surprise. owe the IRS.
Speaker: Actually had that happen to you. That wasn't a fun surprise. yeah coming us the same year I think I would like a surprise party. As long as I don't know, which is why it's called a surprise.
Speaker: Deep thoughts. I'm not a spontaneous person. So that's why I'm like, really, my brain's thinking about because I'm not a set spontaneous person most of the time. Sometimes. That's what it is.
Speaker: Would you, oh gosh, this is fire. No. Move on to the next question. Would you, um I feel like things would kind of tip you off though. I feel like it'd be really hard to surprise you. Yeah. I will like, wait, what, why do you want me to wear this?
Speaker: Yeah. Why? Well, why, right why do we have to go over there an hour early, Joey? Oh, God. Oh, he would never I would never mind. We're not throwing her sports guy. No, I did. He did surprise me with a birthday dinner with the boys downtown.
Speaker: And were, but he called it a family dinner and we see, cause we're going to downtown. yeah and I didn't know, obviously I didn't know surprise. And I was like, why are we going downtown? There's so much traffic. Why are we going an hour ahead? We could go right here.
Speaker: i was so annoyed the whole time and then walked in and saw Wade and Jake going, oh, sorry being a bitch. Joey's like, oh my, trying to surprise you.
Speaker: So yes, I did like it, but I wasn't. yeah sorry jack Sorry, Joey. So surprise with caution. At your own risk. Talking to strangers in the bathroom.
Speaker: Which is funny because I would love like men, especially when they're like, oh, you girls are going the bathroom. and It's like, well, yeah, we got to talk shit about you for a minute. Just kidding. Sometimes. But you said strangers, right?
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. But like women in the bathroom talk to each other. And I'm sure men would never. They're staying next to each other with an e-haul in their hands. They're not just watching their hands.
Speaker: I'm not sure why call it an e-haul.
Speaker: That's a new name for it. Although every conversation with my teenage daughters is words that I'm like, what, what does that mean? But you know me, I talk to anyone anywhere, but I'm i'm trying to think about the bathroom.
Speaker: If we're next to each other, like washing hands, but on lipstick, I'm sure I talked to him. Right. I feel like um it's definitely mostly alcohol induced when I'm like, Oh my gosh.
Speaker: And her voice goes so high pitched. Yeah. And the girl's like, oh my gosh. Surprise. and Unless she's also and having some alcohol and she's going, I know, me too! It's August!
Speaker: and That would be the next thing she would say. ah So, maybe. Depending on the situation. In my mood. Yeah. yeah I hope you have a great day. I don't know.
Speaker: Somebody's crying. i would definitely talk to them. yeah Yeah. Okay. Using per my last email. Oh. Man, that's a random one.
Speaker: I mean, I do that. do you think it's aggressive? Can be. Well, depending on your context, right? So I think depending on what it's about, if someone's gonna make a point, yes, it's definitely aggressive.
Speaker: Do you feel yeah someone says it to you that you're like offended? are you just like, shoot, let me go back and look at that email? um obviously there's Obviously, there's already like, um what's the i looking for?
Speaker: Frustration. Yeah. Again, i think it depends on the contracts, but definitely they're making a point for saying that. So most of the time I'm like, shit, but guess what? Now I'm very careful. I will go back and look at previous emails.
Speaker: um Make sure there wasn't something I missed or I didn't fully understand. Yeah. I think that's an opportunity prior to sending the email for picking up the phone really quick and just saying, Hey, I'm we can sit here and go back and forth. Cause obviously i if I, if I, if I didn't clearly see like, Oh, Hey, I asked for this last Tuesday, yeah but you missed the second part of the ask.
Speaker: Yeah. So yeah, I can see exactly. Apologize here. It is, you know, I miss that. But if it is ah communication, like frustration, then I think it's.
Speaker: Okay. Grab it. Go. That's why we're on the middle of a podcast. This is an important call. We're going pause.
Speaker: Thank you for pausing for an important call. This this this break was sponsored by... the If that is noted, you guys in the podcast, it was my breast surgery surgery or best, best, breast, best.
Speaker: We're not drinking. nashville Best breast, best breast cancer center. And then it was recording. So even um I do, I will say back to our per, per your last email, per my last email.
Speaker: When someone says, Hey, where's, what ask a question? That's in the email. I do get annoyed. It's in the email, read the email. Can you tell that my progesterone pills stopped and my estrogen?
Speaker: I feel little feisty on the past couple emails. I'm like, oh, oh, and I haven't even started my tamoxifen yet. So sorry, Joey, again, going to get bad. Don't surprise her.
Speaker: Warning, warning. let's surprise You thought it was bad last time. That was when she had estrogen and progesterone. Text Joey. No, she doesn't. have something. example For your own safety. mean, we're laughing right now, but I am concerned.
Speaker: digress. But as my hormones are less and less and less, I'm going get so sorry to you too. Okay. It's okay. Sorry anybody in my life. Hey, we love you. And it's... I'm going to be the whatever percentage that doesn't have that happen to me. Yeah. And you're not going to happen to you. And your lifestyle is going to improve that as well. And...
Speaker: It's going to be great. Okay. I'm going to add a question because I have a story. um Do you like the AC low at night or high at night? So I hate being cold.
Speaker: I do not like wintertime at all, but I freeze me at night. Give me the biggest, fluffiest down comforter.
Speaker: And it doesn't have to be too hot because sometimes I'll throw a leg out, but yeah I sleep.
Speaker: 150% better when it's cold at night. Yeah, too. think the girls do too. ah And I think it's, I mean, you know. Yeah, they turn their room, they put a room freezing cold when you're in a meeting so that you won't fall asleep.
Speaker: Right? Isn't that part of the tactic? like Yeah. Make their room cold? Yeah. Well, Joey and I, like, last night we're going to bed and it was cold, but I knew we always get warm in the night. were So he's like, I'm freezing. I'm go to go turn the air down which that's another question i have in a second um i'm like joe no and i'm not even doing hot flashes yet which is why i conquered the question and i thought no it is cool but we're gonna get hot well he turned it to 77 and guess what 77 so guess what joey now it is like 50 degrees outside but we don't have our windows open no no so another night one o'clock
Speaker: As hot as balls. You know what ours is right now? Cause we so, I don't know. I don't know somebody's turned the heat on since I've been away, but it's 66 at night in our house yes and it's magical.
Speaker: Yes. And we put like the girls, we make sure where they've got warm jammies on. Lillian loves to sleep cold. She will not get under a blanket to save her life. Um, thick socks and they have blankets francis definitely um gets under a herb blanket but then i give him a little fleece blanket too yeah um and having like so much heat being pumped into your house i mean it heat is a it dries my nose out yeah but it's also a an environment for mold and you know yeah so i started thinking when i start having my hot flashes again
Speaker: It's problem. Joe, I'm going to get Joey one of those fleece footy pajamas. See, weird. That would be great. should get that for Christmas. But okay. So add on addendum to that question. Follow up. Follow up. Follow up.
Speaker: Do you say, if the air is on 75, which it should have never know exactly where this is going. If I want it to be colder, so I'm hot, 75 and I'm hot.
Speaker: What is your direction to make it colder? Turn the air what? Hold on. Let me think about this. Okay. So I'm sitting in the house that's cold. No, you're hot. I'm hot.
Speaker: Okay. I'm sitting in house. You want it be colder. What do you do to the thermostat? What do you say? I think I say turn the air down. Turn the air down. if it's on 75 and I want it to be colder in the house, I want it to be on 72, I say turn the temperature down. Because then you say turn... No, you say air.
Speaker: Turn the air down. Because... Then he thinks it's turn the air up so that the air is blowing more. That's what he says. I know. It doesn't make sense to me. To me, logical. So to us. And what you're doing on the thermostat is turning it down.
Speaker: So last night he said opposite, whatever the opposite would be, turn it up. And I'm like, yeah, turn it up and down. Anyway, so it's a big debate, but it sounds like has his friends in Connecticut. They all say the opposite of how logically I say it. I wonder if it's a. Northeast.
Speaker: Or male. Oh, we're going to take a poll. Yeah. Do you turn the air up or do you turn the air down? If you want it to be colder. That's a good one. I mean, no, I'm right.
Speaker: So it really doesn't matter how you all pull, but um it's just logical. Heather has no set in stone. All right. One more.
Speaker: Okay. Deleting social media. Well, you just did it. So we i don't know how to feel. For peace. Is it dramatic?
Speaker: can't label all that. have to do what's best for you so that you can't label it dramatic. It's my sister-in-law did it for a while as well because she just needed boundaries around it.
Speaker: um So I think if you do what's best, it's hard to do. I'm very impressed that you did it. We'll see how I'm still trying to post on. It's I'm,
Speaker: Instagram does not specifically does not make it easy to they're like oh you can do this on a desktop but you can only do this on like you can only schedule out your posts on Instagram and then you can't you know i don't know know the uploads and a lot of things are so much easier on mobile on Instagram so it's like alright get in get on do exactly what need to do and don't get trapped by you know ah cute handbag and then you're like oh my gosh I need that I have that so I think I do what's best for you I probably I mean I don't think I get lost in it but I'm sure there are things I could do the little bit that I'm on there like read this book that you just gave me Hoda Koppi's new book which I can't wait to read um I don't feel like I I'll have to watch my time the insights screen time
Speaker: to see how much time I'm actually going to... don't feel like I... I just don't feel like it brings value. The only value that it brings is connecting with certain people and like some of the groups that I'm in. A little bit of humor from the memes that they send, but like, oh, I don't need that in my life every day. like there's ah There's a whole world and a whole...
Speaker: it's a balance actual, you know, relationships that I can build and and yeah enjoy. It's about, i mean, the virtual relationship, the puppy dog videos do make my heart happy and laugh. The baby videos, they do bring me joy. So that's why think there's, there's definitely a balance. And now that with my, well, now I'm cancer free, but still, um, I am in some cancer groups that come so follow some doctors that really are educational.
Speaker: Yeah. So I think you have to just Listen, I feel like we'll do another podcast on discipline because I feel like, and I have a long way to go, but everything our life is discipline, discipline in our choices, discipline our relationships, which are, which is choices again, discipline boundaries for social media, discipline in our health.
Speaker: Um, So knowing when to turn on and off, and you just set timer for yourself, whatever. Because do think there is some goodness, ah good things in social media, but it can definitely, there's so many bad things too.
Speaker: Right. Especially for your children. Yeah, your children and the news. Yeah. All right. Well, make good choices. We'll talk on discipline later. And I'm not going to fix my hair.
Speaker: It's happening. Think about your decorative towels next Sunday. And surprise parties. All right. Have a great day, everyone. Talk soon.
Speaker: Thanks for listening to this episode of Classy on Occasion. It's a good one. Be sure to like, share, love, listen, subscribe, all the things. um And we'll see you next time.
Speaker: Perfect.
