So one thing I wanted to talk about here before we switch over to Sarah Connor, ah you mentioned Tom Cruise. So let me let's talk about the Tom Cruise controversy for just about 30 seconds. Maybe this is meta too, but the creators of Reacher, the series, knew all about the controversy of Tom Cruise being cast in the movies. He was way too small. The hardcore Jack Reacher fans didn't like it. So what they did was literally the first 30 seconds of the Reacher series tells you everything you need to know.

There's this guy and he's getting violent with his girlfriend in public. Okay. It's like maybe outside a gas station or convenience store or something like that. Reacher happens to be walking by and he just stares at this dude.

He just stops and stares. That's it. He didn't do anything. He didn't say anything. He didn't even change the expression on his face. At first the guy mouths off and he's like, Hey, what, what the hell you want? Asshole. And then he keeps looking at Reacher, who didn't move, and he realizes how enormous this dude is, and he immediately backs down and apologizes to Reacher and says, oh yeah, sorry, that that won't happen again. So it took about 10 seconds of that show to address the biggest complaint by far that fans had with the Tom Cruise version. And, you know, in the books, Reacher's size isn't just a very minor detail. It's like one of the main plot points. People change their behavior the second they see this guy. And the TV series established that instantly, like the very first scene, which I thought was pretty cool.

So, yeah, so that's exactly who that character is.

And going off of how big he is to another fun fact, it's not just a gimmick, but the camera work in this TV show, they used forced perspective and different types of framing to try and make him look even bigger. So yeah, yeah but for sure, for sure. This is easily on par with that. If not, I mean, it's six, five to five, five. So ah a foot in height and pretty much double the weight Sarah Connor one 20 and reaches up to two 50. So yeah.

I mean, I guess if you need proof that he's a top 1% in strength and power, there's one scene where he's loading two dead bodies in the trunk of a car and they don't quite fit. In order to squeeze both those bodies in, with his bare hands now, he just snaps one of the guy's legs. He hyperextends it at the knee and just snaps it with his bare hands. That's got to be incredible power.

And ah I think with her ability in guerrilla warfare, surprise tactics and planning ahead as well, was just so far and above Indiana Jones's abilities. that realistically I couldn't pick Indiana Jones over her just because, you know, in addition to all of Sarah's skills, Indiana Jones was always more reactive that than, you know, planning ways to take out opponents. I think Sarah Connor has the upper leg there.

Anyway, he counts to three and before the guy can even process what's happening, he just demolishes this dude with a couple of brutal elbows to the head. Not only is it an elbow to the head, but he's got the head on the metal bed frame so that there's no give whatsoever. And it's that. elbow in the bed frame, like sandwiching his head. And it's just brutal. gives him a couple of those. And he immediately goes down so bad and so brutal that the other two inmates, the partners of of that dude who just got his ass kicked.

And of course, a few seconds later, he proves that he meant every word, and and it comes true, right? I think Reacher has that same energy, same ability. Remember that motel parking lot scene where he's cornered by four dudes, and one of them plunks him in the back of the head with a beer can?

But the thing to note is they're all super elite. That shines a very positive light, I think, on Jack Reacher and his really unique skill set.

But certainly her reliance on other people, I think is a big factor here for Sarah Connor. It's maybe her Achilles heel and we see it. And I, you know, I spoke about this earlier in the episode that we, I wanted to cover this a little bit, but the scene at the end of Terminator 2, it's so, so great. It really builds and builds and the tension is just so high at the end. She gets cornered by the T-1000. He's about to kill her and T-800 Arnie comes around of nowhere and you know the the two terminators then are fighting each other while she is able to run away and then at the very very end she's shooting him with a shotgun over and over and over again and it's almost pushing him to into that vat of molten lava and she runs out a bullets right at the end and who who comes and saves her ass it's arnie very very cool ending to the film but maybe should have been sarah connor's kill that would have been really cool to see yeah

And again, Jack Reacher, like I said at the beginning, the closest thing to a Terminator a human can possibly get. At first glance, Sarah Connor is a huge underdog here. Obviously the height and weight disadvantage, and she got completely steamrolled in the Hell in the Cell. But given her experience, she is perfectly equipped to to take Reacher out.

And let's face it, Jack Reacher's routine, as you guys kind of hinted at, isn't exactly hard to predict in some cases. Cheap roadside motels, cash payments, no phone to trace, things like that. So she's able to watch him from a distance, just like she did with Dyson. She maps out exits because Sarah Connor doesn't fight fair fights. She plans this kill and tries to end this thing before it ever starts. Now, inside this room, Reacher's not sitting there like a helpless sitting duck. He's expecting an ambush.

The angle of the beam, the height of the shot, and within seconds he's already figuring out here, you know, where it's coming from. So the moment she crosses the threshold, he steps in inside the reach of the rifle and he shoves the barrel past his shoulder. He traps the weapon before she's able to fire it, probably with some kind of brutal headbutt, which we've seen, you know, many times before. Elbow to the jaw, elbow to the ribs. And once ah Reacher gets his hands on you, I mean, we already know what's going to happen. So he doesn't need to be stronger or smarter than a Terminator. Jack Reacher just needs to be stronger and smarter than Sarah Connor.

I don't like thinking about a hypothetical blow by blow of how it's going to happen. But we saw examples of both of these. And I think that you can overlay them. And I think it makes sense.

Very, very cool. You know, split decision here, which I feel is very fitting for the matchup. Honestly, it was so close. And for an elite level fighter like Jack Reacher to get this close to being defeated, I think is pretty fun. So hopefully it was ah it was a fun listen for for everyone out there.
