You are listening to the Inverted Creative Podcast. I'm Allison. I'm Brian. And I'm Jen.
00:00:16
Speaker
Hello, guys. What is up? I like that intro a lot. um thank you. Yeah. We have a very different episode today. This is actually our last episode before our one year anniversary for the next episode, which is wild.
00:00:35
Speaker
But we have a complete non-enthusiast here with us today. Yeah, I'm really excited for this. so this is my friend, Sarah.
00:00:46
Speaker
who is not an enthusiast, but she has been to some parks with me and with her family. So I'm really excited to dig into things that she notices in parks.
00:00:57
Speaker
It's going be a good one. It's going to interesting for sure. and know most people who listen to this podcast probably are very knowledgeable about coasters in the theme park industry. Yeah.
00:01:14
Speaker
And it'll be interesting perspective from someone who knows none of that. Yeah. um So Sarah, would you like to introduce yourself?
00:01:24
Speaker
um You can share like your ah Sarah also does some content so you could share like your content and what you specialize in. Yeah. um So I have a couple different channels, but the one that I'm like most focused on and the one that I enjoy the most is like a Delco Philly based kind of like experience point of view page where i just kind of go to like small businesses and even just like, like, I don't know, corporate places and, uh, share my kind of like opinion and experience. And like, I make sure I put the info in there so people can kind of go and get their own, you know, I just want to bring awareness to like, especially Delaware County businesses, because that's where I'm from. And I think that, um,
00:02:10
Speaker
it has a lot to offer. I think it has a lot of personality. I think that there's a lot of hardworking people here. So that's like what I try to focus on over on my channel. Um, but I also do like TikTok shop and Amazon influencer and all that, but that's like what I'm like, I get a lot out of that. It's very fulfilling.

Sarah's Content and Local Experiences

00:02:28
Speaker
Yeah. And what is, um can you share your um like handle or the the name of your page as well? Oh yeah. It's just, so it's Sarah goes there. So it's just S-A-R and then goes there, no spaces.
00:02:42
Speaker
Perfect. So if anyone would like to follow along, learn a little bit more about Sarah outside of the podcast, um that's where you can find it. i will link it in the description as well.
00:02:54
Speaker
Thank you.

Hosts' Park Visits and Coaster Adventures

00:02:56
Speaker
Um, so I think before we get into this, we do have some trip recaps, right? We do. Yeah. Do you want to go first?
00:03:05
Speaker
I can. Um, so last episode we did a deep dive on Holiday World. It was just ah me and my friend John Mike. Um, when we were recording that, we had not told him that we would, uh, actually be at Holiday World when he was there about two days later. So we got to surprise him, which was a lot of fun.
00:03:25
Speaker
Uh, we had a big group of friends who was just doing like the Friday night live or whatever ah Holiday World. We didn't ride a whole lot. I'm literally trying to remember. I know we did Voyage.
00:03:37
Speaker
I think ah we got like one ride on everything at least. And then walked around. It was very chill. I know Jen has so much to say about Holiday World.
00:03:48
Speaker
I don't have much to say about Holiday World, but I have a lot to say about Voyage. um know For one of our friends that was there, ah Brambo, it was his first time to Holiday World, so he got to experience Voyage at night for the first time, and that was fun to be kind of part of that new experience for him, and I would love to be part of Jen's first experience on that one day.
00:04:09
Speaker
Yeah, when I'm like, oh, this is trash because the trims are on.
00:04:14
Speaker
It's still good even with trims on. I don't know. don't know. It is. don't know if it's Top Woden and Thunderhead. Easily. Yeah,
00:04:26
Speaker
yeah we had a good little time there. um Mike and I ended up at Beach Bend the next day. i had been there 18 years ago was my last time there. But we were in and out in an hour. Got a couple rides on ah Kentucky Rambler.
00:04:42
Speaker
Better than I remember. It was fun. And then what other two credits were there? i don't even remember. Spinner. I got that one. That was new for me. Oh, you got a new credit?
00:04:52
Speaker
Yeah. was a Visa spinner. Oh, and then I think we stopped at um like a Scene 75, Malibu Jacks, whatever, and got another Visa spinner. I got a plus two that weekend. Oh, my gosh. So what are you at now? 739, think.
00:05:07
Speaker
Wow. seven thirty nine and think wow Yeah. That's like awesome though. Yeah. While we're on the topic of credits, I think we, Sarah mentioned, or Allison mentioned in the post, we think Sarah has around 30 credits.
00:05:23
Speaker
What is a credit? A credit is the number of roller coasters that you've ridden. Unique roller coasters. Oh, okay. Yeah. So we did the math and based off of the places that you've gone and like the coasters that existed in those times.
00:05:37
Speaker
Yeah. That you have around 30. Yeah, probably. yeah I mean, i went a lot more when I was younger than I have in my adult life, but we used to go like all the time to like Hershey Park.
00:05:49
Speaker
Dorney Park wasn't a lot, but it slides in Texas because I would spend summers in Texas with my older brother and he, we would just like be there all the time. So probably 30. Yeah, we did the math in each one. Hershey Park had around eight to nine credits.
00:06:04
Speaker
Over Texas had eight or nine credits. Wildwood, which I knew we did together, had two, I think, at the time that we probably rode. And then, um,
00:06:17
Speaker
where else? um
00:06:21
Speaker
Oh, Great Adventure, because we had done that together. And I did assume you rode Ka, which I don't remember if you rode Ka. Do you remember the big, giant, green one that, like, 400 feet humongous?
00:06:32
Speaker
humongous
00:06:35
Speaker
I don't know. When I think of that, I think of, like, Green Lantern. Yeah. You wouldn't have rode it with me because I didn't ride it at that point. Yeah, no, I don't. Because I know the one trip we went on, on i did go off with your sister and her friend for a little bit.
00:06:51
Speaker
Yeah. But, yeah, I'm, like, more of a water park kind of person. I love, like, the water park side of amusement park, so i probably have done more of that than anything else. And then also...

Cedar Point and Spiders

00:07:05
Speaker
I know it sounds crazy, but, like, Sesame Place has some pretty cool rides. Oh, I forgot about Sesame Place, we might just break 30. Have you been in Oscar's Wacky Taxi? Yes.
00:07:16
Speaker
I haven't even been on it yet. I have been trying to get that credit forever. Yeah, I think that we just have to, you're just gonna have to be a good auntie and come to Sesame Place with me and the girls.
00:07:28
Speaker
I literally have shown up to that park. the both This will be time number four trying to get on that ride. and love I love Sesame Place. It's so fun. Literally so fun.
00:07:40
Speaker
It's so cute. They do little parades like they do in Disney kind of, but like with the Sesame Street characters. And it's just cute. I just like, I like it there. Yeah. Okay. So I forgot about Sesame Place. So we probably are just about at 30 credits, I think with all of that math. And I forgot to include Talon. was going to say I'm Talon now as well.
00:07:58
Speaker
Yeah. So we're getting there. You're almost at Allison's 739. Never in this lifetime. Fair item. But it's okay. I'm going to Disney for the first time in a couple years, but we're doing, um for my little cousin, he wants to do like, um what is it? I've never been to Disney. I know that's so bad. What is, um like, where you drink in different countries?
00:08:21
Speaker
Epcot. So we're doing Epcot for Liam's birthday. um And I'm going to probably try some new rides there, I feel like. Yeah, I think they have just one credit there.
00:08:31
Speaker
Yeah, she'll probably get on it before me. And we want to take our kids to, like, when we go to Disney, we want to do our own thing at, like, I guess where, like, the Pixar stuff is. We want to say, like, where we can see, like, Woody and Buzz and all that. So I don't know anything about any of that.
00:08:46
Speaker
So that would have, I think, two or three more credits in there. We're have to get a travel agent for that, I think. Yeah. Yeah, you'll be good. Yeah, sorry. Not to derail from the... Yeah, sorry.
00:08:57
Speaker
I just thought it was a good good time to talk about Sarah's credits. Yeah. um So, last weekend, ah me and a bunch of friends had a cabin at Cedar Point.
00:09:09
Speaker
um And again, chill weekend. Got some top thrill rides. Got some more Siren's Curse rides. um the um I don't... Okay, this is one thing I noticed about the park, and it really...
00:09:23
Speaker
I don't know. It didn't suck, but there were so many spiders. Like the mayfly problem that they have has translated into spiders now. Yeah. I feel like last summer where there were so many spiders too. don't remember ever having this much issue with spiders. They were literally like coming down from the ceiling. One landed on um at least one of our friends.
00:09:45
Speaker
There were some crawling on Mike. They were everywhere. they I remember last year getting on Magnum and there were like and Corkscrew and the there were like very well established giant webs in the trains.
00:10:00
Speaker
and she I was like oh my god. Yeah I don't remember ever seeing that much of a problem in the fall time but I'm like oh my god there are so many. I am not okay with this. I like smile bugs. I like spiders.
00:10:13
Speaker
i i yeah I love critters and creatures. That would have been like Like, Jen was nerding out over, like, the... What did i ask you? What the demon drop was like? And I'm just expecting her to be like, oh, like, you get on and da-da-da. She's telling me, like, the history, like, names. And I'm just like... At that point in my head, um I've known this girl for almost 30 years. I'm like, la-la-la-la-la. I don't know what the heck she's talking about.
00:10:36
Speaker
But that's how I would be if we saw the spider. I can, like, identify the spider, tell you what it's doing there, and tell you its purpose. So I would have liked that, probably. Well, you can go to Cedar Point at some point. Add however many... Yeah. The new credits...
00:10:49
Speaker
Can't move them too much, though. Then they'll pass away. ah there was There were so many of them. They were everywhere. I was not a fan. um
00:11:00
Speaker
Yeah, we really didn't do, again, another just chill weekend at a place we'd been to before. Just more hung out with friends, had some drinks. Did some cookouts at the cabin. That sounds nice.
00:11:12
Speaker
We did a little bit of haunt. Not much, though. I walked through the ah Cutthroat Cove or whatever underneath Maverick and I mean, it's nice to have like the Halloween option that's free and no line.
00:11:24
Speaker
Just walk through and be annoying to the ah the ah scare actors. And we just kept asking them, hey, do you guys have any rum? Can you tell us what rum is? While they're trying to scare us.
00:11:36
Speaker
They were like, please, leave. Somebody, I think it was Nate, is kind of very similar to me in haunts in that they just don't do anything. And we just kind of talk to the scare actors as we go. Yeah.
00:11:50
Speaker
Maybe it wasn't Nate. I don't remember who it was. We had like 10 of us that weekend. um But we we had said to him, like, I like your mask. And they're like, thanks. It's your reflection.
00:12:02
Speaker
I'm like, kudos to you, sir. But yeah, those are my trip recaps.

European Theme Park Adventures

00:12:08
Speaker
Very chill.
00:12:11
Speaker
Yeah. Nothing exciting.
00:12:16
Speaker
Yeah. You have more exciting trip recaps. Yeah. I actually, i have't i have another one that I don't even know if I told you. So I went to Efteling. I was in Europe.
00:12:26
Speaker
Surprise. Really? Shocked. um I went to Efteling, which everyone who knows my taste in parks, things that I appreciate in parks and enjoy, knew that Efteling was going to be one of my favorite parks.
00:12:43
Speaker
um Absolutely. is. it matched that energy for sure. I still don't think it beats Europa Park for me. Um, but Efteling is the most magical park I think I've ever been to. So charming.
00:13:00
Speaker
Um, so detailed. I absolutely loved it. Also some of the best Vekomas, um, like old Vekomas that I've ridden ever.
00:13:13
Speaker
Um, It's amazing how those old Vekomas can really withstand the time um when they're taken care of properly. Because um I'm going to assume they're so close to Vekoma that Vekoma probably helps them with the maintenance.
00:13:28
Speaker
um I could be wrong, but the Vekomas were glass smooth. um And that's like an old school... Vocal rock is...
00:13:45
Speaker
I think like a 90s Vekoma sit down. And it's incredibly smooth. I was shocked. um um um So yeah. 1998. Yeah.
00:13:58
Speaker
It was so, I was shocked. I was expecting to get on it and have a headache like I do rock and roller coaster. um And like,
00:14:12
Speaker
I'm trying to think. Space Mountain from the Earth to the Moon. Like, I love them. They're great. But they really beat you up. on But not even close. Like the smoothest experience I've had on an old Vekoma.
00:14:27
Speaker
um And then they had a really unique one with um Python. So I obviously don't want to spoil ah much for Allison since she hasn't been. But Python is really unique because it was retracted.
00:14:45
Speaker
recent, like, more recently. um But they retracted in a way that it still looks like old-school Vekoma track, which is really cool. um So it's kind of and like, was just a very unique experience.
00:15:02
Speaker
um But yeah, I give that park, like, the theming in that park is just over the top. The music, everything in that park has custom music and it's whoever is composing it is doing a fantastic job um and then obviously dance macabre we rode that i think four or five times over the three days we were there um absolutely deserves the golden ticket um without a doubt in my mind that thing nothing but good things about it
00:15:41
Speaker
i I have
00:15:45
Speaker
i have never walked into a dark ride and left that satisfied. Like, I won't want to say a dark ride. a Because it it's definitely dark ride, but...
00:15:57
Speaker
Like, a a ride. Like, not a coaster. I've never walked away from a ride that satisfied, ever. And I just wanted to keep re-riding it. um That and I did not know the lore of the replacement.
00:16:12
Speaker
um Do you know any of this, Allison? I don't know much about Efteling's history at all. Yeah, so... They originally had a creator for the park that did a lot of their designing who designed a show.
00:16:27
Speaker
it was an animatronic show that was in Dance Macabre's spot arms called, like, Sprokes-a-Lot. And... They took so many details from that animatronic show. Because from from what I was being told, Efteling was very concerned that because of the love of that creator and because he had passed away, I believe.
00:16:53
Speaker
um And because of the love of that creator and the love of the OG Efteling that he helped create, building Dance Macabre was like very... Like they knew they needed to do something to honor him and to like bring those elements into it correctly.
00:17:14
Speaker
So there are just so many things like after doing Dance Macabre, I went back and I watched Sprokes a lot and they just, I've never seen a park so perfectly replace an attraction and honor the old attraction so well.
00:17:30
Speaker
um I was like, it warmed my heart. Like, I wanted to cry. It was so... It was so well done, taking elements of the animatronic show and just dropping them into Dante Macabre.
00:17:45
Speaker
um So yeah, that was, I think, my favorite part of Efteling. Also the Sprochius bus. I didn't even get to finish the Sprochius bus, like the fairy tale forest.
00:17:57
Speaker
um like I don't know what you're saying, but okay. yeah The fairy tale forest, like, yeah. I didn't even get to finish it. It's so big and so detailed.
00:18:09
Speaker
um We were there three days and I still missed a big chunk of it. um But yeah, incredible park. We also, I'm going to mess up the name of this park. So we went to Leida, which is like a smaller city and in the Netherlands. Yeah.
00:18:29
Speaker
And when we were looking for a hotel, we ended up in a castle in Vasanar. um And five minutes from this castle is... Drunnel?
00:18:43
Speaker
Drunrel? Dunrel, I think? I've heard of that.
00:18:49
Speaker
I'm trying to find out. So it was literally five minutes from the castle. So we... get up in the morning and we're just like, well, we have two hours before we have to be where we have to be.
00:19:02
Speaker
We could really go into this park. There's frogs everywhere. Like, this park literally was just like, we're gonna put a bunch of frogs all over the place.
00:19:12
Speaker
That's thing. rode the... It's leaving this year, but they had this little kitty coaster called, like, Frog Roller Coaster. And it's... The train was, like, the cutest frog.
00:19:24
Speaker
ah yeah, I see it. Oh, it's little closing in a few days. Yeah, it's closing after this season. So, I got the cred. it's cute. I did miss the Eurofighter because this... um
00:19:41
Speaker
So we rode the other two rides and then we got to the Eurofighter and it had like at least a 45 minute wait. um But they do also have two animatronic shows and...
00:19:55
Speaker
The Dutch people that I'm friends with were all like, this is like a rite of passage. You have to go to the animatronic shows. They're fantastic. So I was like, we can wait 45 minutes for Eurofighter, which is probably going to be bad.
00:20:08
Speaker
Or we can go to these animatronic shows. So we watched the two animatronic shows instead. Which were like... Kind of wild. For like such a little park, there were so many animatronics, I was shocked.
00:20:22
Speaker
Um... But yeah, so we spent two hours in that little park. um And Netherlands-wise, we did not do any other park. We actually opted to not go to Toverland so we could go to Efteling a third day.
00:20:38
Speaker
don't blame you. Yeah, I was... Joey had some friends that were going to be at Efteling that we didn't find out about until later. so I was like, between friends that are going to be there that would like to see you, and then...
00:20:53
Speaker
The fact that I still feel like I have i have so much more of Efteling to see. oh I also got my first EVAC credit at Efteling. Oh, snap. On what?
00:21:04
Speaker
On Symbolica. Um, so we got to like walk through the dark ride, which was really cool. Um, I, we were only like two rooms back, three rooms back, so we didn't get to rock walk through like the entire thing.
00:21:18
Speaker
Um, but we got to go through like two or three of the scenes and like lights on, see everything. So that was pretty cool. Um, yeah. But yeah, so Netherlands, we didn't get to anything else.

Oktoberfest and Ride Highlights

00:21:32
Speaker
um Then in Germany, we decided to go to Oktoberfest in Munich. um So jealous. Yeah, i I was so excited. We rode Alpinabon, which, like, obviously you have to ride Alpinabon and Olympia Looping.
00:21:50
Speaker
like um So we rode both of those. Both incredible. Olympia Looping... Was like hands down worth the wait. Like.
00:22:02
Speaker
Was everything it was hyped up to me. Yeah. I, I do think that I was expecting all five. Is it five or is it six? It's five. I think it's just the five loops. Cause it's the Olympic rings.
00:22:13
Speaker
Yeah. So I was expecting all five of the rings to be pretty intense. I only really feel like the last two were like Schwarzkopf intense. I think the other ones were too big.
00:22:26
Speaker
um And I was in the last car. So like I got a more intense ride than like and you would get in Austria. on But it was absolutely like it's incredible. It's probably the best Schwarzgauf I've ridden.
00:22:41
Speaker
um Hands down. It was so worth traveling the four hours to Munich for. um We also rode this like spinning wild mouse called like
00:22:56
Speaker
Hilda. Wilde Hilda. Wilde Hilda, yeah. um Let me see. love Logride. It was called something like... Wait, this is... Am I not going to find it?
00:23:15
Speaker
I don't know if I can find it. But it was like a spinning wild mouse. It was the most intense spinning coaster I have ever ridden in my life. And it had onboard audio.
00:23:28
Speaker
We were literally in line and we were like, are we really about to ride this? Like, did we just pay eight euros for this? Like, this is insane. And by the end, I was like, I want to ride this again. This was so much fun. I thought I was going to be yeeted out of the train like five times.
00:23:46
Speaker
It was like, do you do you know on it? um Exterminator? Is that what it's called at Kennywood? Yeah. You know when that one releases and it spins you and you, like, fling across the car?
00:24:00
Speaker
It was like that the entire ride. Like, it was unlocked from the moment you got to the top of the lift hill. And spun at that intensity. So. Very crazy.
00:24:13
Speaker
um and might have been called Heidi something. I'll have to... look for it um but yeah so then that then of course i got home and we ended up at haunts here so dorney park haunt last weekend um got to go through all of the houses and then great adventures haunt yesterday so this weekend nice
00:24:45
Speaker
Yeah, both of them are are

Haunt Improvements at Dorney Park

00:24:47
Speaker
great. I have to say, so this is going to be like, this might be a little bit of a hot take, but I think Dorney charging for the houses worked out better for them.
00:24:59
Speaker
And I know that's going to be a hot hot take. Yeah. But they put the resources into it. So i feel like they almost doubled their scare actors.
00:25:12
Speaker
They added more things into the houses. There more animatronics in the houses. They also like reconstructed a lot of the scare zones to be more like condensed and actor heavy. So like, I feel like I'm okay with the fact that they're charging extra because they're adding so many scare actors into the houses.
00:25:35
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, I don't like that they, you know, sprung the paying for haunt at the last minute, but I do think it's beneficial. Yeah, that part I don't like. And if I had gotten there and felt like we got the same quality as last year, but I do truly feel like the quality this year is better.
00:25:53
Speaker
So
00:25:56
Speaker
I kind of like the, if you're going to put the money into the, like, into the resources for the houses, that's fine. Charge me for it.
00:26:09
Speaker
Yeah, I kind of agree. But also, I don't really do the houses, so. Yeah. Like, if they're put more into, like, having more, like, roaming scare actors, then I'm... Cool. Yeah.
00:26:21
Speaker
They had... The scare actors, like, in the scare zones were also, like, I would say almost double as many than previous years. So... I see improvements with it.
00:26:37
Speaker
Um... And then that Sarah actually came with me to Dorney. So, um yeah, we did all of the houses, I believe.
00:26:50
Speaker
Yeah, we we did because we ended up doing um the tourist trap, the one that you've never done before. um So, yeah, i think we did all of them. Yeah, I think we did all of them. And then we rode Talon.
00:27:05
Speaker
At Dorney Park. You got a video, right? Dorney Park. I did get a video of tourist trap, so that'll be posted at some point. um They let us film in tourist trap.
00:27:18
Speaker
Nice. Is that one of the... The haunted house. Okay. oh god I know nothing. women Yeah. So I think it was pretty fun. I think it was a fun event.
00:27:29
Speaker
um Yeah.
00:27:33
Speaker
It was scary. Yeah. Yes, Sarah. It was. It was scary. i'm not gonna lie. i I don't know. It was scary. Yeah. Some of it was scarier than others. um Like one of them was like, honestly, not scary at all. But I think it's okay to have like um a spectrum, especially like because there is young people that go or like whatever the case may be.
00:27:54
Speaker
I forget which one it was. Jennifer, correct me if I'm wrong, the zombie one? Necropolis? Necropolis, I think. Yeah, so that one was like literally a walk in the park. It was like outside, it was open, it was, you know. so usually previous years when this was not a paid event,
00:28:15
Speaker
That would get so crowded that they would bring through it in pretty much lines, like straightforward lines um next to each other. So it was more condensed. But I think because they were, one, it wasn't very busy because now it's paid. like we I definitely noticed the houses were significantly less busy. Yeah.
00:28:39
Speaker
And then we were put through, like, kind of by ourselves. And it's so spread out that you could see everything. so it's like, there was, jump scaring wasn't an option when the person's 15 feet away from you. Yes, yeah, yeah.
00:28:53
Speaker
So, yeah, I agree. That one, like, that one needs crowds, I think, to be scary. Um, yeah.
00:29:04
Speaker
you Did you have a favorite house? Um, honestly, probably the tourist trap. Yeah, that was great. I really liked the details. Like, I felt like we, because the whole, like, storyline of it was, like, a bunch of women were going missing, and this hotel owner, or whatever the case was, was, like, it was because, like, they were stealing his things or something like that. And the details in there, I literally felt like I was, like, walking through, like, a vintage shop in the 20s. Like, the hairbrushes on the vanities and just, like, the, it was just, like, a really, like,
00:29:38
Speaker
visually appealing and also like very scary. Um, and then I think Ghost in the Machine was definitely like super scary. Um, but yeah, I think I like Tourist Trap a little bit more.
00:29:50
Speaker
It was just like cool. I like wanted to stop and like touch stuff. I wanted to stop and like, you know what I mean? Like it just looked like they like genuinely like pulled everything from a hotel in whatever decade it was cosplaying.
00:30:03
Speaker
Um, Yeah, and I liked the speaker and, like, the the way that they, like, kind of, you walk in and talk to the bellhop and the bellhop. It was just really cool. It was, like, storytelling on top of, like, accurate.
00:30:15
Speaker
And I really liked it. I wanted to do it again. i wish we could have done it again. Yeah, that one was really good. That was, yeah, I didn't do that one in previous years. And that one really surprised me. Yeah, you had a couple jump scares.
00:30:28
Speaker
Yeah, that one I had a couple good jump scares. Um... I really like the New Orleans one. like that Oh, the Blood on the Bayou? Yeah, that one scared the absolute life out of me. That one was very scary.
00:30:42
Speaker
Yeah. And then the Chop and Block or whatever. Chop, chop, stop and chop? one top Yeah, that one was also, i it was really scary. I don't think I would do it again because it just, it was, it was like, I just didn't like it. Like, not, I didn't like it. That's not the right word. It was disturbing. Like, it was a one and done. Like, okay, I've experienced this. We're good. But yeah, really scary.
00:31:04
Speaker
Yeah, that one was really gory. So if, like, was not your thing, that one was a little much. But I do have to say that that one is kind of like. It was like culty. Remember? you There was, like, sacrifices with, like, animal skulls and It was just very, like, yeah, it was scary. Yeah, that one was, like, in a corn maze in the back of the park, like, back behind Demon Drop. So, like, really, you have to, like, go out of your way to get there.
00:31:33
Speaker
um And we were, like, the only people there. We were the only people in line. And Sarah was... Sarah was so nervous to walk because she was, like, not into that house at all that we, by the time... They were making me go first. You were making me go first. So that was, like... Yeah. And she's, like, well, just stop. Like, they can tell when you're scared. I'm, like, I'm scared. Like, what do you want me to She's, like, just walk up, like, with your... And I'm, like, no. Like, I'm scared. I don't know, like, don't know what you want me to do. So they could tell, I guess, but...
00:32:06
Speaker
Yeah, we left. There was easily a line of, what, 25 people? Yeah, there were 20 to 30 people. Like, we pulled off to the side once we got out, and there was just a giant line of people that were stuck behind They just, like, kept coming, and I was like, oh, my God, Jennifer, like, is that? And she was like, it was, like, comical. It was, like, you know, a couple people left out. really um It was, like, just kept going and going and going, and I was like, oh, my God, there's no one out there when we came in. oh yeah, that was scary.
00:32:33
Speaker
Yeah, and that one was that was good. on Yeah, so they were really good. um and then I went to Great Adventure yesterday with a couple people. i ended up with a couple people.

Great Adventure's Haunt Makeup and Costumes

00:32:45
Speaker
And I didn't do all of their houses, but their houses are really good too. Like the Conjuring house. Oh, I'm sad I didn't get to go. oh Yeah. Theirs is pretty good. um therere make Whoever makeup Great Adventures...
00:33:03
Speaker
Haunt, 10 out of 10. The costuming and the makeup is absolutely incredible. So, like... Like special effects. Yeah, the special effects yeah in the costuming is just... It's untouched.
00:33:19
Speaker
That I do notice. I do notice that kind of stuff. Yeah, I was really impressed. Detail, yeah. Like, detail is very important. There's, like, this pirate section in Great Adventure, and there's this, like, I don't know if she's supposed to be, like, a siren.
00:33:35
Speaker
um But she is like, her costume has so much detail and she has the most beautiful like gray, greenish dreads wig. But the wig is so good. Probably a siren. If it's pirate, you said it was ocean theme. It's pirate. So I think she's supposed to be a siren.
00:33:56
Speaker
um But then they even went as far as to like give her the coolest contacts I have ever seen in my life. Um, they were, like, stunning bright green with, like, the large dilated middle.
00:34:12
Speaker
Um, so, very cool. Um, the costuming for that park. And, honestly, like, the decoration in Great Adventure. I haven't been Fright Fest.
00:34:24
Speaker
I technically went last year, but I don't know. I don't remember that much of it, if I'm being honest. Um. I do remember throwing my phone in a trash can and breaking it. Outside of that, don't remember too much of The Great Adventure last year.
00:34:39
Speaker
But I don't know if they've added more decoration. there were like There was a ton of decoration at that park. So, yeah.
00:34:49
Speaker
Okay. that We were with you that day, weren't we? Yeah. What is with you and your phone and trash cans? Remember the Toby Keith costume? Oh, yeah. and That one I threw in the trash after I um broke the screen in otter box. Cracked it. Yeah. like Good times. so I don't know how I managed... I still don't know how I managed to break the screen of my phone in an otter box.
00:35:12
Speaker
on But... emailed them after. Yeah. I'm not good with my phones. I'm really not good with my phones. But, yeah. Allison and Mike were there. They were all riding Superman or going through a house. And me and Gabby were...
00:35:27
Speaker
I think finishing our beers and literally I'm like leaning on the trash can and I don't remember how I think Gabby hit the phone and the hit the phone literally like boop into the trash can.
00:35:39
Speaker
the Was it technically haunt or was it right after haunt? Cause we were there for like, we went the week before King the Cock closed. It definitely was during haunt because I do remember waiting in a line in like a field to get into one of the haunts.
00:35:55
Speaker
Yeah. We definitely didn't do anything haunt related.
00:35:59
Speaker
Yeah. I only think we did like one house. And then we just like were riding Ka. don't know. I just know I have that cute picture of us from that day. Yeah.
00:36:11
Speaker
All on Ka. Oh great. El Toro. I might have had the saddest ride on El Toro ever. Like I know that we know Ka's not there. But my whole entire life like I've ridden El Toro and you get to the top and it's like there's Ka.
00:36:28
Speaker
And It, like, hit a little different when I got to the top of the lift hill and I was, like, it's naked. Like... You're crying in the club. Literally, like...
00:36:39
Speaker
I was very sad, but I did have um Matt Maz. For anyone who knows Matt Maz, he is ride-op. I did have him making the Talon call sounds, like bird call sounds, the whole way. He was in like the operator booth, and as my train was going off the lift hill, I was like one of three people on the train, because it was early in the night, and he was just going on the speaker, making bird sounds.
00:37:06
Speaker
Yeah, but then I got to the top, and I was like, where? Where's there pause
00:37:12
Speaker
Very sad. But,

Diverse Park Experiences Reflection

00:37:15
Speaker
yeah. So those are, yeah, my recaps. We actually had a good bit. Yeah, I actually had more. Once I started talking, I was like, wow, I actually have a lot this time. I feel like my last couple Europe trips, it's like, oh, I went for half a day to a park and then I was at Europa Park for six years.
00:37:33
Speaker
So, this time I had a lot.
00:37:37
Speaker
I did remember when you were talking about getting evac'd, um... We, when we were at Cedar Point, just dealing with like operational issues, like everything kept breaking.
00:37:49
Speaker
Yeah, I saw, was it Nate's story where he was like. Yeah, Nate ah struggled with that. He's never really been like a huge fan of Cedar Point and this didn't help. um But twice we got stuck on break runs for like 15 minutes.
00:38:04
Speaker
ah Once on sirens, we didn't, me and Nate were front row of sirens and then we got stuck on there. for like 15 minutes. We thought we were going to get evac'd from the break run. but again We got some ah fast lane passes at least. um Very end of the night, I think we're going to try to, we're going to do, it we're doing right on Maverick and we're going to try to run somewhere else, I think.
00:38:24
Speaker
But then we got stuck on the break run at Maverick for like 15 minutes until park close. I'm like, well, okay. Oh, that like ruins the end of your park day, man.
00:38:37
Speaker
Man, and top thrill, We ended up leaving the line, I think, for or the first night. um I think like people ended up waiting almost two hours for Top Thrill or something like that. don't know.
00:38:53
Speaker
It was a while. Two hours, damn. And then the next day, we were in line, and like we ended up just bailing the line because it broke down, and they said it was going to be a while. Yeah, we had we we struggled with that at Cedar Point.
00:39:10
Speaker
Yeah. I don't even think. Oh, we were going to ride Millennium and then that broke down. so we left the line. Did you guys get to ride? Like, didn't he get to ride Millennium?
00:39:22
Speaker
ah He might have. I was good like, I was honestly shocked with how good that is this year with the update. It's it's running really well. Yeah, it's running. I did not ride it this trip.
00:39:33
Speaker
Yeah, I literally was blacked out until, like, the tunnel. Like, I thought I was going to pass out. I was, like, actively telling myself, like, do not pass out on this ride right now. Like... I did ride Magnum.
00:39:46
Speaker
It tried to bruise me. yeah Always. What row? Uh, like, third from the back. Like, last car. Row 17. Yeah. Is it row 17? Is it row 21? No, it's like 21 in that.
00:39:58
Speaker
and a twenty no no you want in that
00:40:03
Speaker
I don't remember, but it was. I'm a row 17 Magnum enthusiast. It was whatever is the front car or the last train. Oh yeah. 17's a middle. Front row of the last car. There we go.
00:40:16
Speaker
I think 17 might be the middle row of the last car. don't know. was fun though. Yeah. It's good one. All right. Well, now that we're 40 minutes in.
00:40:29
Speaker
And trip recaps.

Sarah's Coaster Terminology and Preferences

00:40:31
Speaker
We can turn our attention to our guest who is probably very clueless about a lot of the things that we've already been talking about during the trip recap. Yeah, probably.
00:40:41
Speaker
you have any idea? ah She got to join in for the door meeting. Yeah. I'm like, you were talking about Vekomas and I'm like, I don't think she knows what a Vekoma is. No, I don't know.
00:40:51
Speaker
Actually, Sarah has the best Vekoma SLC credit. I know that for a fact. What? Great Nor'easter on the Wildwood Boardwalk.
00:41:05
Speaker
Yeah, we've rewrote that. One time rewrote that like a million times. so
00:41:11
Speaker
Ew, you're my dog. The drama. Sorry. Like, what are you barking at? i don't know. That's fine. It's fine. The door's locked. It's really rare that another dog makes an appearance before Ahsoka.
00:41:22
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know why she's barking. That's fine. I fully kicked the cat out because he was being annoying. Oh, it's my... Somebody's home. It's fine. They know not to come up here.
00:41:34
Speaker
um Yeah, so we did do that. Yeah, we did. We did a lot. I don't know. like I know that they're not coasters, but like we had fun that summer. We did Slingshot. We did... did a lot of really cool stuff.
00:41:45
Speaker
Yeah, we did like... We had passes to Maurice Pier and... Just rode over the road. But yeah, so... I know you don't know Vekoma, but that is, like, one of the best Vekoma, like, of that model. It's like, people argue it's the best one all the time.
00:42:04
Speaker
So, you have a good one. I couldn't tell you. I've been on a lot of really bad ones, though. I've been on a lot of really bad ones.
00:42:14
Speaker
Yeah, I've been on ones where I'm, like, banging my head against the side. and Oh, well. But, yeah. um Yeah. Yeah. Now we're getting derailed now talking about Vekomas. But Sarah does have a good credit.
00:42:29
Speaker
So, okay. That part does segue into one of the questions that i have. um Is there any terminology that you've picked up from hanging out with coaster people? Like, is there any coaster lingo that you could define at all?
00:42:46
Speaker
Sarah is the master of just, like... black. and Like, she just lets me yap. Yes. No. no I honestly just go where Jennifer tells me to go.
00:43:02
Speaker
No lingo. um At all. No. She just learned GP. Literally. um So one of our questions that was given by a listener, SolarCoaster, he did ask what's your favorite coaster you've been on?
00:43:16
Speaker
Um, there was... What's the... if maybe probably green lantern probably yeah because i it's like a core memory because it's like i can just remember like going on it i guess so yeah probably green lantern yeah rest yeah so
00:43:36
Speaker
was it just the nostalgia you think that keeps it so high for you yeah any of the actual like ride experience from it Well, like rides that go. i like the buildup of like the... jen what did you teach me? um What are the butterflies called?
00:43:52
Speaker
The butterflies, airtime. We did just talk about i like I like airtime. So whatever that means. um So I think anything that has that, like Talon had that.
00:44:04
Speaker
And that was really cool. Wait, wait, can you say that again? you say that again? had... Talon had butterflies? sorry I had butterflies, yeah. just need that to be noted. I need that to be backed up because this is an argument I have all the time with people because I do think Talon has airtime.
00:44:22
Speaker
I got more big, yeah. So, yeah. So, I think that um nostalgia and then also just, like, I do like that feeling of, like, it's just exciting. So, yeah.
00:44:34
Speaker
Are you scared of coasters at all? um so not really. When I, I i think that there's a difference between, like, before I had kids, I would be on them all of the time. And then just, like, things change when you have kids. i don't know. You get, like, scared that all of a sudden it's going to break. Or, like, you get scared that suddenly, like, you're...
00:44:51
Speaker
you're not going to like fit right anymore. So I avoided them for years. Um, but i do like them. I think they're really fun. I think it's like, I definitely don't like waiting in line. It's almost like nobody ever does. oh Yeah. It's almost like, Oh my gosh, um is this is even worth it. Am I even going like it? But then you get on and it's like really fun. So I like them as much as the next average GP.
00:45:12
Speaker
We'll get you using the words already. We're going to turn her into an enthusiast. Yeah. She'll get there.
00:45:21
Speaker
And there's Ahsoka. That was a mean snap, too. Ahsoka has some things to say. As usual. Um... Yeah, I was, um... Sarah was supposed to come with me to Great Adventure, but some stuff came up.
00:45:39
Speaker
But... Nitro. I was really excited to get on get her on Nitro. um We'll do it. We'll still get there. It's fine. Yeah. Steel. I also kind of wanted to get her on, um...
00:45:51
Speaker
Steel Force, but... I've on Steel Force. ah Yeah, I just mean, like, the other... Oh, like, now. Yeah. Yeah, because, um... That airtime feeling, like, it's that type of coaster.
00:46:07
Speaker
Yeah. That's, like, what I go for, I think. It's, like, that. I like that a lot. Yeah. That makes sense. Nitro is... lot of that. Yeah.
00:46:17
Speaker
Nitro gives you a lot of that feeling.
00:46:22
Speaker
Yeah, because I don't know if you would have ever been on a another one of that models. I don't think so. um Over Texas was on your list? Yeah, they have Titan.
00:46:33
Speaker
was going to say it was Titan. A lot of B&M, yeah. Yeah, Texas, I, the one summer i was 13 and me and my little brother, he's, I say little, we're a year apart. We went on Because my older brother, that's who we would spend the summers with, his, like, mother-in-law worked there. So they would get, I guess, I don't even know. We went into that park and from, like, I mean, 10 o'clock in the morning until probably 10 o'clock at night, we just ran around the whole park and did everything. So we whatever is at the Great Adventure in Texas, me and my brother did
00:47:07
Speaker
It was so fun. We were just, like, 12 13, like, didn't have to wait in line. Like, nobody was with us. We were unaccompanied minors. Just, like, running around, just having the best time, like... Yeah. They were kind of... They have...
00:47:20
Speaker
So they don't have the model that Great Adventure has. They have a different manufacturer. And technically, like, it's the it's a similar model, but it's it's not. It's a lot more intense. Yeah. um I don't... I think it would have been called Titan when you were there.
00:47:35
Speaker
don't think it was your team. Yeah, it was like orange and teal. Yeah, um probably. I should have talked to my brother before hopped on because he probably just does remember. Yeah.
00:47:47
Speaker
Um... So yeah, Nitro, we'll have to get you on. Well, maybe we'll make it to Hershey and we can get you on Candemonium. Love Hershey. I'll go to Hershey any day. Hershey Park is so fun. We'll get you on Candemonium. You said you went to Texas 2013? was 13. I'm 31... 2006? 2007?
00:48:05
Speaker
Summer of 2007. Okay.
00:48:09
Speaker
two thousand
00:48:12
Speaker
seven summer of two thousand seven okay But it was, like, a lot of summers in a row. That was just the first summer that we did the whole, like, me and my brother got to go in and just, like, do whatever we wanted. Yeah.
00:48:25
Speaker
Yeah. yeah ah I had 13 stuck in my head, and it's like, oh, 2013. Oh, Texas Giant was there. but Oh. Yeah. Well, other Texas Giant was, but... Yeah, the regular Texas Giant. um the wood The one wooden coaster there is, it was it's now a hybrid coaster.
00:48:43
Speaker
um It was, like, redone by a company that, like, takes old wooden coasters and makes them into these, like, hybrid steel coasters. They actually just did it to Wildcat at Hershey Park, too.
00:48:56
Speaker
So, a wooden coaster there. Very good. Wildcat's fun. Wildcat is crazy intense. Mm-hmm. Um, yeah, so no nitro, but we'll get her on candy.
00:49:11
Speaker
I like candy more than nitro anyway, and I know that's also a hot take, but candy's better. Get her on Skyrush. Yeah! Ugh.
00:49:24
Speaker
Skyrush would murder you. I'm here for it. Probably. I don't like rides that, like, make me sick. Like, and I know it's on a coaster, but, like, I will not get on the Gravitron. I don't like, ro like, i I don't really like being dizzy. I don't mind going, like, upside down and stuff, but I have, like, a really sensitive stomach anyway, so, like, the second I get hit with a wave of nausea, like, I'm done for the, like, so I'm out for the count, unfortunately. Like, I hate that for me, but it's just, like, a whole thing. um So I don't love rides that are gonna make me sick, but I do like The ones that go upside down. and you know
00:49:57
Speaker
um I can't do things that spin too much. yeah yeah Yeah. like Like Enterprise at Dorney Park. The worst thing on that. ah were The worst thing that they have to offer the Enterprise.
00:50:11
Speaker
I can't really even do an Enterprise anymore. Yeah. No. I've only done one once in my entire life. And I was so sick. So sick. I will never do it again. and And I just remember Nick was like.
00:50:24
Speaker
Oh, we have to ride it. It's the best thing ever. i love these things. There's not a lot of them left in the world. I love them. I love them. I love them. And I got off and I was like, I want to die. yeah Never again.
00:50:39
Speaker
ah yeah. um okay so since we are a creative podcasts gotta talk about a little bit about the creative side of things but um what aesthetic things at parks do you notice most like colors or music or theming or anything like that what what's um probably feet like theming like i really like a like that's why i think that one haunted house was like my favorite because it's it's like you kind of like are walking into, like, a different world in a way,

Park Theming and Staff Importance

00:51:10
Speaker
i guess. um
00:51:12
Speaker
I really liked that Dorney did have... They had, like, they did definitely had music playing in every single section that we were at, which was nice. um Yeah, and it was just, like, clean. It wasn't, like... I didn't feel like anything was, like, a safety hazard. So, like, I was also looking... Which might be the mom in me, because I don't think I ever was like that before.
00:51:30
Speaker
um But, yeah, just kind of, like, overall appearance of the park, I guess. um And also, like, the staff... like the staff knowledge. I feel like the one um bar that we kept going up to to get, we tried like some really cool themed drinks. Like she was so nice. She knew what to recommend to us. She knew what was in the drink. Like it was affordable. So just like it being like, I feel like anything that's accessible and just like knowing what you're going to consume, that's important too. So yeah Yeah. She was really awesome. That bartender.
00:52:03
Speaker
Yeah, she was. She was super cool. We ended up on the whole entire conversation about The Shining. Yep, because of Jennifer's tattoo. Yeah. But you can expect that with you. I feel like you, and it's not a bad thing. Like, it might sound like it's passive-aggressive, like, you could talk to a wall, and that's okay.
00:52:19
Speaker
So I feel like any time, like, I go anywhere with you, I know that there's a chance that we're gonna get sidetracked and end up talking to someone, and you and her. literally was like, she likes you. Like, I think that she wants to be your friend. It was like they were just like vibing. She was recommending drinks. Like she was giving her information about books. Like she was like, you gotta read the book. You gotta this. And I was like, this girl can literally just, she just like makes anyone feel like they can just talk. So it's a good thing. It's a good quality to have.
00:52:43
Speaker
Yeah, we ended up. So if anyone didn't see my story, Dorney Park, one of their specialty drinks this year is called Red Rum, Red Rum, Red Rum. And it's or it's called like Red Rum, Red Rum, Rum Runner, I think.
00:52:58
Speaker
um But of course I had to get The Shining drink to match my Shining tattoo. So then of course we got onto the topic of the book. Because if you've never read, if you love The Shining and you've never read the book, you should absolutely read the book. It's insane. It's so good.
00:53:16
Speaker
So yeah. mean I know nothing about The Shining. It's such a good movie. I didn't even know you had a tattoo for it. It is a very good movie. It's really good. It says red rum and it has a bloody axe and then this is like the carpet design in the movie.
00:53:36
Speaker
yeah Oh, you've not seen the movie? Yeah. like oh wow i think you you would It's a really good movie. It's a classic. It's really good and it's like it's an 80s horror movie so like it's not really scary.
00:53:49
Speaker
Like, it's just very interesting. I think you would like it. To be fair, I just don't typically do, like, horror movies at all. Yeah. No, I get that. It's just, like, vibe in my opinion, it's so old that it's, like, it's not really scary anymore.
00:54:04
Speaker
It's just interesting. so I mean, it's kind of like how I am at um and haunts. and the The suspension of disbelief just doesn't work, so I just sit around or walk through and just look at everything.
00:54:17
Speaker
Yeah. Take all over.
00:54:19
Speaker
Um, similar to this, haunt-wise, what do you notice walking into a park?
00:54:27
Speaker
Um, I guess the theme of the haunt is intriguing to me. Like, I think that it's just, like, when you like certain things, like, but it's almost, like, don't judge a book by its cover, but, like, you do. Like, if you go into a, like, a preview of the movie, like, I think that certain people are drawn to certain stuff, so, like, I'm a very, very much like the hotel theme.
00:54:51
Speaker
i like, I don't like the cult stuff. I don't like the roadkill slaughter stuff. So like, that's why that one house like wasn't for me. So I think just like what's aesthetically pleasing to you as a person, like it's kind of like what I noticed. Like I knew what I was excited for and what I was not excited for. Like when you mentioned the conjuring house, like I would have loved that. Like that would have been right on my alley. But if it was like something with aliens, I probably would not enjoy it as much. So I think just like For me, like, knowing, like, I'm already interested in the theme of it.
00:55:23
Speaker
Like, the ghosts. I love, like, ghosts are really cool. Like, not a big terrifier girl. So if it was a terrifier house, I honestly probably would have been like, don't want to do this. going scare the poop out of me. But, um, but yeah. So definitely, like, knowing that there's things there that, like, I'm already interested in anyway. Like, it's kind of like when a movie comes out. Like, knowing you're going the movie if you like ghosts.
00:55:44
Speaker
Yeah. When you're in a house, like, that you're interested in or not, what are some of the first things that you notice or that, like, you remember coming out of those?
00:55:55
Speaker
So is it, like, the sets? Like, the- Um, yeah. Probably the sets and then also the scare actors. Like, I feel like I'm very, like, ever since I was a little kid, like, for some reason, like, an old lady in a rocking chair, I'm out. Like, that's so scary to me.
00:56:12
Speaker
So, like, the themed rooms with, like, ah like a a little girl in the corner or something. So, like, kind of, like, there's just some things I'm scared of and some things I'm not. Like, zombies aren't really that scary to me. So, like, um I definitely remember if it was, like, something where I was, like, oh, that was really good. Like, that was scary. Like, that was convincing. And then definitely the sets. Like, that one last one we did, like, it was just, like, what is this? we well You know what i Like, other, what like, detailed sets, like the hotel. I keep going back to the hotel because it was just so...
00:56:41
Speaker
awesome like I want to go through it during the day and like it was just so I felt like I was literally in a haunted hotel and I think that that's probably what sticks out to me the most is like just the effort and the detail that they put into some of these houses were just like mind-blowing it was so creative yeah yeah that's why I like Ghost in Machine so much yeah that was very detailed as well yeah the level of the detailing there yeah Yeah, I never did any um houses when I was at Dorney Haunt, but if I was going to do one, it would have been Ghost in the Machine, just because, the but mostly because of the ties to Iron Menace.
00:57:21
Speaker
Yeah, when Jen gave me the lore on that, on the way home, the whole background of the, and it, it was interesting, like, for someone that just genuinely probably wouldn't normally care about something like that personally, not like, I don't care about what Jennifer cares about, but like,
00:57:38
Speaker
just the little Easter eggs and the little, like, it was interesting. I was like, oh, wow, this actually, why this is, yeah, this is pretty cool. It gives it personality and then it almost makes me want to go in again and, like, look for those little things.
00:57:49
Speaker
So knowing the history behind stuff, too is kind of cool. That's why i went on the website because, remember, we didn't know the name of the tourist trap one? We were, like, at a haunted hotel. Like, we didn't know. I went on the website and I, like, read it and I was like, I need to go back now knowing this. Knowing this little about me, I want to go back now and, like, see it from a different perspective.
00:58:08
Speaker
Um, obviously I just really want to go back to the tourist trap. That one's really good. Yeah. I think I'm gathering you like haunts more than you like thrills.
00:58:20
Speaker
Um, probably. Yeah. I, I like both. I think for sure. i think it's just like, I don't know. I think the, I like the feeling I get out of going to amusement parks. Like it's probably like the airtime that we were talking about. And then also,
00:58:35
Speaker
the detail of the haunts just to kind of make me feel like I'm stepping into a story. So it's probably just like the bodily reaction that I get out of it more than like the actual, like, um, like some other people like might go in for like the theme more. don't know.
00:58:53
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was fun though. I'll tell you that. I can't wait to get back. Yeah. Haunts are really, haunts are really good.
00:59:05
Speaker
They just get so busy. Yeah. They get. Yeah. Even, like, Bates Motel. I went to Bates Motel last year. I haven't been there since, like, high school. And um for someone like me, like, i I got a couple scares out of it, but we were in line for, like, an hour for, like, the um Haunted Hayride. And I was like, oh, man. Like, I don't know if, like, I would want to come back next week. You know what I mean? Like, I wouldn't want to do it again just because it's just, that it does, it gets really crowded. Anything, I think, themed fall, Halloween, spooky, people,
00:59:33
Speaker
You might get more out of it. Yeah, especially in our area. um Haunts are huge in our area. Yeah, Pennhurst, all that, yeah. Yeah. um It's kind of, and like, part of our, like, DNA, I feel like.
00:59:51
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Jason's Woods, um Field of Screams, like, yeah, Pennhurst, all that.
01:00:00
Speaker
Yeah. Um... Yeah, we have um a few other questions. We have a... Wait, I was, like, thinking of one of the questions I remember.
01:00:16
Speaker
i i don't know. I got confused. I was like, this reminds me of one of our questions, but maybe I'm making that up in my mind. Okay. I'm doing great, guys. I'm doing great. In my defense, Allison knows this.
01:00:32
Speaker
I ran out of coffee in my house today, and I was not aware. Terrible. And then I did not get coffee until noon. Well, I checked her location, and I was like, she's out getting coffee.
01:00:44
Speaker
Well, I left like an hour and a half before, and the camera shop had a line, and the coffee shop had a line. but You at the camera shop. I was not going coffee. This is my first coffee of the day. It's 2 o'clock.
01:00:55
Speaker
ah Yeah. Yeah. So, guys, bear with me. Yeah, I saw that you were at the camera shop and I was like, she's getting coffee. Yeah, I have had two cups of coffee, but the first one got cold before I really had much of it. And then the second one, I got interrupted by a work thing unexpectedly. And so that one got cold before I could really enjoy it.
01:01:18
Speaker
oh I need a good cup of coffee later. Yeah, me too, actually. i think I'm going to go to the bookery and get their full menu is in insane. I love the bookery. m For anyone in the Delco area, the bookery is a really, really good coffee shop. There's so two amazing videos on my page of there. I love it there so much. But their fall menu is amazing this year.
01:01:40
Speaker
Yeah, Allison, you would love it. It's like a bookshop. was just about to ask our books involved because please. it's but It has two sides. And one side is like a bunch of plants. and i like Yeah, it's the roots plant shop. thing And then the other side is like a bookstore coffee shop.
01:01:55
Speaker
Yes. It's lots of local authors. Um, the menu is insane. It's amazing. And it's, it's the places I always say, I feel like I'm like in stars hollow. I'll have to, Jen will have to send you the video that I took there because it's just like, I love it there. It's so cozy. It's so cute. Um, yeah, yeah I love it there.
01:02:13
Speaker
I like it there a lot too. Um, We didn't really get into this, but Allison is an ah author. Really? I love that. Yeah. I love reading. i love I'm talking about enthusiasts. um Yeah, reading. I love reading so much.
01:02:26
Speaker
um I also co-founded an indie publishing company. That's really cool. Oh, wow. That's awesome. There's actually an independent bookstore. I know this is so off track. Opening today Ardmore.
01:02:37
Speaker
We're a coaster podcast. Yeah, right? Yeah, but we all love books, too. It's fine. Yeah, love books. But yeah. Offline, I'll send you a link for that. That sounds good.
01:02:49
Speaker
All right, so we should get into some questions, even though the question that I thought was there is not... I made that up. That sounds like you should ask it anyway, whatever you were thinking. I don't know what it was. I was just like, I really feel like this is a question that we have here. I don't think I got anything else.
01:03:07
Speaker
No, I think I'm making it up. I don't know where I made it up from. I don't even know what the question was. I think I'm just crazy. well Okay, so we have um Chris Leonard...
01:03:19
Speaker
Um, so this is a good one. From the perspective of someone outside of the how hobby, what are factors when you decide to visit a park versus doing some other type of entertainment, such as a sport, sporting event, concert, museum, et cetera?

Choosing Between Parks, Concerts, and Events

01:03:37
Speaker
Um, probably variety. Like, I probably would want to have, like, a good option for everything, like food, drink, um, the attractions themselves, the rides themselves.
01:03:50
Speaker
And then I think just like from a point, like probably like, um, price wise, I think that you want to get what you're paying for. And if you're not an enthusiast and you're not like, okay, shoveling out hundreds of dollars or whatever the case may be, um, you just kind of like want to go to a place that like, it's worth your while, I think, um, which I think Dorney,
01:04:14
Speaker
looking at their general admission and their pricing, like, it's pretty affordable, I would say. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So, when you, like, if you're between doing something like a concert or, um, like, a sporting event or a theme park, like, what what things would help you choose?
01:04:36
Speaker
Like, what are you thinking about when you're choosing if you would do a theme park with your family? Like, in this case, I feel like using the family is, like, a great... Right. um Like, what... Like, what would I rather do?
01:04:48
Speaker
Like, what do you think about when you're balancing the options? So if you choose, like, let's say Sesame Place. I know you talked about that you guys love Sesame Place. And with the kids, that's... So what are things that you think about when you choose to go to Sesame Place over somewhere like...
01:05:02
Speaker
a sporting event or a concert? Um, probably still, it's probably just the same thing, probably making sure, especially if I'm going in with my family of two kids.
01:05:13
Speaker
So it would be a family of four, you could so easily spend close to $1,000 at anywhere these days. So it would probably just be like variety. Like I know going into Sesame Place, we're all going to find something we like.
01:05:24
Speaker
I know that going to a Phillies game, we're all going to enjoy ourselves. So it's just kind of, ah so probably like, are we going to have fun? Are we going to leave at the end of the day and be like, wow, that wasn't worth it. This kid didn't like this or I didn't enjoy this. And then just like accessibility. I think like making sure there are you know, so I think Sesame Place with their, like they have a whole ah place for like sensory and they have a whole autism. but That's amazing. I think that's awesome. And I know the Eagle, like the link has that as well.
01:05:53
Speaker
Um, at the time when I was breastfeeding, knowing that there was lactation rooms at Citizens Bank Park and the link. So I definitely go into it. Like I, a little different than like, in like maybe somebody that I just have to make sure that like, I'm going to get in there and I'm going to able to like take an eight year old to the bathroom without the line being wrapped around and like, you know, just kind of still having fun and like, yeah, that's family friendly probably is really important. Um,
01:06:20
Speaker
So yeah, variety, accessibility. Yeah. Okay. Hope that makes sense. Yeah. That makes sense. Yeah. Do your kids like roller coasters? Um, so my three-year-old has not ever been on one yet. My eight-year-old is obsessed with roller coasters. She, I mean, i I literally always say I need to just send her with Jen at some point because she, all that, she could be on an all day. And my brother, I talked about him earlier. He's a year younger than me. His son, we both have, well, he is three now.
01:06:45
Speaker
Um, but We, like, he took ah my older daughter and his older son to the roller coasters with my husband, and they did their whole thing, and I took the little ones, and we just went and, like, window shopped.
01:06:56
Speaker
she Yeah, she's obsessed. She loves all of it. Airtime, all of it. She's crazy. She wants to do, like, she just wants to do everything that she could do. She's definitely, like, gonna be, like, a park goer, I think, as we get into the teenage years.
01:07:14
Speaker
Nice. Yeah. We approve of that. Yeah. Yeah. i mean, that's when Jen started. I feel like we were probably, don't know. I don't know. The first time we to Great Adventure.
01:07:26
Speaker
I became an enthusiast. So I don't know if I ever told this on the on the podcast. So I became an enthusiast because we went on a school trip when I was in middle school. It's great adventure. And my dad was a chaperone.
01:07:41
Speaker
And... they kept advertising like, oh season passes, look at upgrading your ticket to a season pass, upgrade your ticket, upgrade your ticket. So when my dad looked, it was like 30 bucks to upgrade the ticket.
01:07:55
Speaker
So my dad took our two tickets and then took two tickets from two other kids and got us, like, my whole family season passes. And I think at one point had one for you, too, or are maybe not. Maybe we had the bring a friend tickets. Yeah, I think I was just, like, ah because Ryan didn't really come much. So I think it was just, like, if there was a seat, I was there. Because I just, yeah.
01:08:17
Speaker
Yeah, but it was, like, so that's the lore, guys. My dad is just, like, super excited that the... The season pass was really cheap and there we were. were pass holders and then we would go to Great Adventure I think every weekend.
01:08:31
Speaker
Dog. Yeah. Dog. But but yeah. So middle school is when like we would have taken our first trips.
01:08:45
Speaker
Yeah.
01:08:48
Speaker
Yeah. What a time. It's going to be Liv. Liv's just going to, going to have to just send her with you because I can't do 12 hours at the park. I can do 12 hours at the park. I'm planning a trip to Italy and she's like, is there rides? And I'm like, ah there's actually. like, we're going have to take Jen with us or something because I'm going for the pasta and the wine, babe. i don't know about, I'm not getting on a roller coaster in Italy. um There's a first generation free fall in Italy.
01:09:16
Speaker
The demon drop one, right?

Coaster Enthusiasts' Honeymoon Plans

01:09:17
Speaker
Yeah, look at this, guys. She's learning. Yep, I do remember that. have a little bit. So we're, um, me and my fiance, he's also a coaster enthusiast. That's how we met, is through coasters.
01:09:30
Speaker
Oh, that's cool. And our honeymoon is going to be riding coasters in Italy. Oh, I love that. So to answer your question, yes, there are rides in Italy. There's also, actually, Sarah, you should bring her, there is this, there's this,
01:09:44
Speaker
theme park. I don't really know what's there, but I do know that the logo is like a gay cat. It's like rainbows and a cat is their logo, and I love it. Where is this? That's right up our alley.
01:09:55
Speaker
I think it's like Magic Land or something. yeah um so If it is Magic Land, we're going. But like, even their like beer cups have um even their like beer cups have um
01:10:13
Speaker
like but I love that. Am I going to need to get you something from that park? I think so because I would like i would like the cat. Oh wow. Yeah you're right. okay Is it Magikland? She wants a cup.
01:10:26
Speaker
Oh my god that's so funny. I love that. That is 100% on our list of parks that we're going to. heck yeah love it look at the gay cat it's not even a rainbow and a cat it's a cat with a big bushy rainbow sparkly tail and it's definitely a cat right kind of looks like a squirrel yeah it's a cat okay see that looks like a cat but like other parts it does kind of look like a squirrel yeah it's cute it's cute though it's it's yeah i love that it's a cat um so i know they also have a rainbow benches there apparently
01:10:59
Speaker
Yeah, so you should bring her there because I really, i just think it looks really cute. The logo really popped off. okay It's south of Rome for what it's worth.
01:11:10
Speaker
I've been like very actively planning our itinerary lately. That's really exciting. Italy is beautiful. That's all I can think about is ah Italian parks and that whole trip. We're doing more than just parks, but... Yeah.
01:11:26
Speaker
Anyway. I was just excited then like, oh, I actually have knowledge on this.
01:11:36
Speaker
Yeah. I just, I like that logo. Yeah, Jen, I will definitely try to bring something back for you. Heck yeah. I told Joey, I was like, so Joey was at this park when he was in Italy and I was like, i want one of these cups. And he just, he didn't bring one.
01:11:54
Speaker
Oh, well. As I literally search Magic Land Italy merch. ah It's just so random. I love it.

Are Coaster Enthusiasts Crazy? Q&A

01:12:05
Speaker
Alright. Our next question is from Guinness and Scott. um Scotch. Not Scott. Scotch. um Do you think your enthusiast friends are crazy speaking as someone who is married to a GP and majority of my friends are also GP?
01:12:24
Speaker
Um... um know about... I would say passionate. You're very passionate. um Sometimes... I mean, i think I think that it's maybe crazy to go halfway across the world or all the way across the world for a roller coaster, but you do it and you enjoy it. So, I mean, I don't know. If that's crazy, then maybe.
01:12:45
Speaker
Yeah. Travel across the world for coasters, I would never. Allison's crazier than me because she'll, like... show She'll detour road trips to get random credits.
01:12:59
Speaker
Mike is more of the influencing factor for that. He's trying very hard to catch up to me and he's going to get closer after the honeymoon because we'll be going to a park that he has not been to that I've been to.
01:13:13
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it's passion. i think I think that it's... I mean, I do things that I'm sure are crazy that I'm enthusiastic about. So i think it's, like, admirable, though. It's a good kind of crazy. i'm kind of I'm a collector by nature.
01:13:25
Speaker
i love collecting things. And so now rollercoaster credits are just something I collect. Yeah, it's like a little trinket. Yeah. Yeah, it's fantastic. A little trinket of another line on my Excel spreadsheet.
01:13:36
Speaker
Yeah. I do also, like, I forgot to bring this up when we were talking about credits. Sarah, I love you. I'm going to roast you for a second. Sorry. um When we texted, I was like, to when we were talking about like, oh, what do we think her credits are? texted her and was like, I know that, like, how many roller coasters have you ridden?
01:13:58
Speaker
um I know it's probably at least 15 because we've done about 15 together. um and her response was, Yeah, I definitely have a lot because I've been to Texas and this park and this place park, and I responded with, Allison has 550, which was wrong. i had to correct it.
01:14:19
Speaker
But it was just so funny. She was like, I definitely have a lot. Yeah. over here like, yeah, like, and like i don't know, maybe and here,
01:14:30
Speaker
so seven hundred and forty
01:14:36
Speaker
It was just so, like, expected to have this many. It's okay. It's cool, though. It's cool. Like, it's literally cool. You know what I mean? really fun and really cool, but it was just, like, the most innocent, like, I feel like it's the perfect, like, GP friends to, like, crazy enthusiasts.
01:14:55
Speaker
um It was just, like, the perfect response. um It made me giggle. I loved it. I was like, have like 250 and Allison has like 740. I know Brian's at 600 something.
01:15:16
Speaker
Yeah. Brian's also really high. 600. Mike's. Yeah. But like based on my standards, um, since I obviously am the most well-versed because I have a whole 224 credits, technically knows more than all of us. so Yeah. Yeah.
01:15:34
Speaker
I'm the expert here. not here. It's going to replace it.
01:15:41
Speaker
All
01:15:46
Speaker
Let's see. As we both highlight the same thing. oh So Brambo, I don't know if you're going to know the answer to this question, but Brambo said, why do GP always add the to coaster names?
01:16:00
Speaker
So like, You know, like, Nitro, like, Great Adventure, a lot of times we'll hear people who aren't, like, as familiar with theme parks. They'll call The Nitro. Oh. There's no The there. Yeah, I don't know. Because I don't do that. Like, I just, I call them by the name. um I don't know. Maybe they're just, I don't know. Why does anybody add The in front of anything? I feel like people do do do that a lot. Like, um I don't know. i think it, maybe it's just, like, a,
01:16:31
Speaker
I really don't, cause I don't do that. I just call them what they're called. Like I wasn't like the talent, the green lantern, the, do people do that? Maybe they do. Yeah. yeah I really don't know. Maybe it's just like a formality. Maybe it's like the coaster, the talent, maybe just like, yeah. don't know.
01:16:52
Speaker
I wonder how much you're influenced by hanging out with Jen and, like, Jen would say, you know, just whatever name it is and then you immediately just continue on with that. ah Yeah, I just don't think I've ever done the in front of it. You know what I mean? Like, um... I don't know. Maybe that's just me. I do believe you guys when you guys say that people do that.
01:17:14
Speaker
Yeah. But... It does make me giggle because... I feel like the the Dutch people I talk to all call Efteling de Efteling.
01:17:27
Speaker
ahs fine That's funny. So... That's funny. Yeah, that's interesting. that's I learned something because I just usually say the name of it. five Yeah, it's like very common for people to be like, King de Ca.
01:17:40
Speaker
The Alturo. Some of them is legit like, The Beast. Yeah. yeah I can see in a sentence being like, oh, I rode the... But, like, being like, let's let's go ride the... I don't know. i guess it just depends on the... Now we're saying the a lot.
01:17:56
Speaker
I know. I'm, like, hyper aware of how much I'm saying the... Yeah, it depends on the... I guess, like, how they're... don't know. We'll have to do more research one day.
01:18:09
Speaker
Could be a lot of people just don't even realize that they do it. They're doing it. I do that with, like, the word literally and the word, like, a lot. Yeah. And sometimes I'm like, I'm not realizing how much I'm saying something. So maybe it's that.

Critiquing Coasters and Ride Preferences

01:18:20
Speaker
You could be right. It could just be like they're not even aware they're doing it. Oh, God. Being an author has taught me how much I use certain words in my writing. I use the word just so much. Like to the point where my editor was just yelling at me like, I'm like, I'm sorry. I don't try to.
01:18:38
Speaker
It just works that way. Yeah, right. Yeah. anyway
01:18:46
Speaker
uh and then Brayden asked I know you kind of got into this a little bit um not being an enthusiast how do you critique rides if at all know you mentioned you like airtime yeah yeah just like probably the overall experience of it like the comfort of the seat the how I feel like if I felt safe and like Jen made a good point the other day when we got off of town the other day like about the lock and like she explained the mechanics behind it and i was like oh that makes me feel so much better I wish I would have known that before we got on it instead of after um and yeah just like I think it's like a personal preference like if somebody likes being spinned around and likes that like crazy head rush um I I just get kind of like what I get on it again is how I would rate it and I definitely would get on Talon again it was so fun because of the way that it made me feel yeah Talon is the best I love it
01:19:45
Speaker
It is certainly ah ride.
01:19:53
Speaker
It's certainly a ride. Get the heck out of here. It took me a second. and Yeah, I was like, is Jen not responding? My brain needed a moment.
01:20:05
Speaker
oh It's the coffee you're not kicking in yet. Yeah. Yeah. Also, the other half of Solar Coasters, which this is what we were saying that we didn't think that you would know, is do you notice a new B&M rattle? But I don't think that you've written in any new B&M. I don't think so.
01:20:25
Speaker
and't I don't even know what that means. yeah I going to say, like I don't even think she would know what B&M means. B&M's a manufacturer. Talon, B&M built Talon. No.
01:20:36
Speaker
I don't even think about that when I'm at parks. It's just kind of Does it look safe? is it goingnna Am I bla mu bodily going to react to it in a good way? like if I think for a second I'm going to throw up, I'm not even looking at a rollercoaster because then that'll ruin in my day. because Like I said, like anytime I'm nauseous or anything like that, like I'm just done. So I think it's just kind of like... So imagine Talon.
01:20:58
Speaker
You liked Talon, but imagine Talon but the train just like jiggled the whole no yeah no that would happens time. But not on purpose. Not on purpose. It's just like The way it is.
01:21:11
Speaker
The way it is. I probably just wouldn't get on it again. Yeah. Yeah. I should have gotten you on Iron Menace. I wish I knew this question was coming because I would have been able to get you on Talon, which is like the most glass smooth, beautifully built B&M to iron Menace. A new A new B&M.
01:21:34
Speaker
Yeah, like a nice smooth ride. Like we went on the pirate ship and we were like, this is relaxing. Yeah. um closing our eyes and just enjoying the fresh air like then like i don't even know like what coasters you would have been on that are more rough yeah there was a there's a wooden roller coaster in wildwood that makes me sick every single time and i i've stopped getting on it the lag learned my lesson the last couple years because it's just it's so bumpy and it's just so like i don't know i just don't
01:22:06
Speaker
I just didn't like it. Like, it's just... Like, town was so smooth. It was just like, I don't know. I didn't feel jerked around. I didn't feel... don't know. I forgot about this. What? The Great White.
01:22:20
Speaker
That's the coaster I think that you're talking about. Probably. It's just, like, on the pier. Yeah. It's a CCI, so...
01:22:28
Speaker
That's kind of all we need to know. Yes. Yeah. I support you. well eyes She's just like, what's a CCR? Yeah. I've been bet on it with you. I've been like, I just, yeah, I don't, maybe it's the, what I don't know. I just don't. Yeah. I just like, wasn't a fan of it. I like, maybe it's just a smooth, a smooth ride that does a little bit of upside down. I think it's just like maybe the shaking. I don't love the shaking. I don't love, like I said, it's anything that like could make me not feel good yeah afterward. I'm not going to want to do.
01:22:55
Speaker
Yeah. ah In the world of wooden coasters, I i think, I don't remember that one, but in the world of wooden coasters, I'm going to assume that one's not very good. I don't think so.
01:23:06
Speaker
Probably not. I've been in trains recently, and I don't think it did much. Yeah, no. um I'm a big fan of the manufacturer that made Oscar's Wacky Taxi. They're all not, so.
01:23:17
Speaker
It's like the only wooden coaster manufacturer that I continuously love. so Not GCI? Okay.
01:23:28
Speaker
oh man my mind was like this is a gci no i'm lying i'm lying i'm not a huge fan of gravity group i'm a bigger fan of gci i was like i was very confused i'm like what do you mean yeah i'm like all the wooden coasters i talk about are gci in my mind i was thinking that oscar reiki taxi was a gci but it is a gravity group yeah don't know maybe one day Maybe one day I'll make it onto Oscar's Wacky Taxi. Yeah.
01:23:55
Speaker
I mean, I've been on a, I went on Bobcat recently and that one was the best of the gravity groups I've been on. I honestly don't know if I can go and ride Bobcat because I'm kind of salty that when they opened it, they gave out toy Bobcats and I didn't get

Coaster Riding with Kids and Closing Remarks

01:24:10
Speaker
one.
01:24:10
Speaker
Had I known that they were giving out little toy Bobcats, I would have driven the like five hours. I mean, I got to go back there at some point. One of the coasters was closed for us. Two of them. and Oh, no.
01:24:23
Speaker
One coaster was closed. The other kids coaster, they would not let us on. Oh, really? Yeah. Like we fully got turned away.
01:24:35
Speaker
um i had that happen in Texas, I think. um Yeah. Over Texas, I think. We got turned away twice from. We tried a second time to go back with a different operator and still didn't work.
01:24:51
Speaker
Yeah, I was turned away at Over Texas, the one that you were at, Sarah.
01:24:57
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, well. It happens.
01:25:03
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, unfortunately. yeah we're I'm one of those weird people, i guess, Jen, you are, too, to some degree, to try to go ride kids' coasters just to say you've been on it and add one to the list.
01:25:17
Speaker
And you do get turned away Look at Sarah's face with judgment. No, I'm not judging. I just, I've been on so many rides with my kids. I've never gotten turned away. But then again, maybe it's because i was accompanying a kid. yeah It's because you're with a kid. So some of them. Yeah.
01:25:31
Speaker
adults are ah allowed on if they're like i was turned away because i was not accompanying a child gotcha yeah i was the face i was making was like why would they turn you away at all but i guess it makes sense if it it's not like a sharp run it's a group of adults coming up to ride coaster sometimes like a lot of them are cool with it a lot of them don't really care no we got on one laran mini mind train at laran they're not supposedly they don't let adults on but they'd I don't know, maybe it language barrier thing too, since they all spoke French there.
01:26:03
Speaker
But all us got in line, and just opened the gate and smiled at us and let us go sit in our seats. Yeah. I feel like a lot of the times, if it's not busy, they don't care. But, like, those the the capacity of those rides are so low that, like, yeah. on
01:26:22
Speaker
Sarah, when it do you have plans to go to Universal Studios? When we go to Florida? Yeah. Um, I don't know. i don't, cause like I said, i need a trip I need a travel agent to do the itinerary for me because we have a budget and we have things that we know we want to do.
01:26:41
Speaker
Like I, is is that where the Harry Potter stuff is? Yeah. If that is on the list, I need to come with you because I need to borrow your child. I would love for you to come with us when we go. Honestly, I wanted you or Rita to come.
01:26:51
Speaker
Um, I just know when we go for Liam, we're doing Drink Around the World, but when we go as a family, I know that, like, I was trying to do things that we were trying to, like, make the trip around, like, what everybody wanted to do. So, like, Olivia really wanted to do the bippity-boppity, whatever.
01:27:07
Speaker
ah Charlie really wants to see Woody. um For me, i just kind of only really cared about the Harry Potter. Yeah. Yeah. So there's, in the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure, there's this really hard-to-get credit.
01:27:24
Speaker
And the reason that it's so hard to get is because you need to be accompanying a child. And I do know friends who have, like... borrowed children from random people just take olivia olivia love that she's a little baby enthusiast and and yeah knew that's exactly why you were asking jen i know i saw in your face you knew exactly why but if universal if islands of adventure is on the list i need i need to borrow olivia we're running off to ride a little it's i'm gonna let anybody take my child on a roller coaster without me being right there it would be jen
01:28:00
Speaker
point blank period that's probably it's yeah it's heck yeah there you go she'll love that another one i don't have yet i don't have it either one time i stood at the exit seeing if i could adopt a kid I've never done that.
01:28:18
Speaker
I thought, well, the whole thing is, like, I thought about it and I went to the exit. But then, ultimately, I was like, I cannot be some creepy woman asking people to borrow their children. like the way that you would get, like, a felony so quick.
01:28:34
Speaker
You just have to know someone. I do have a friend who did it. Yeah, there are people who did it. Yeah, like, I have a friend. She's super bubbly, super, like... she is she's someone that like i don't know and her personality i feel like it just worked really well for her like she ended up becoming like bestie like she ended up just becoming like besties with the mom and then was like can i borrow your child that's literally what happened to us last weekend you became besties with that mom and then i hung out with her kid but her kid was an adult but still it was like a mom and a daughter yeah
01:29:10
Speaker
yeah
01:29:12
Speaker
Alright, so I think that this brings us to the end of the episode, guys. You always say it. I always say it. Any other parting questions?
01:29:25
Speaker
What's that? Any other parting questions for Sarah? Or any parting thoughts? Not on my end. You have anything else that's pressing to be said, Sarah?
01:29:38
Speaker
no Not really. i had a great time, like, getting to this. is I've never gotten to do this before, so this was cool. Yeah. Super fun. Yeah. It's mostly just us sitting and talking to friends.
01:29:49
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, no, podcasts are cool. i actually had one, like, all set up and in the works and ready to go, and then the person that was going to do it with me backed out for understandable reasons. She very much is still one of my very good friends um because it's so interesting. So, yeah, I was happy to get to be a part of it.
01:30:06
Speaker
I've really grown to enjoy podcasting. Mm-hmm. I just love yapping. I love talking. Like, if you get me in a situation, like, Jennifer will tell you, like, where I do know what I'm talking about or I am interested or passionate about something, you can't get me to stop. So, um yeah, I think the podcasting is really cool.
01:30:21
Speaker
Yeah. I just don't like being in front of the camera. So this is a good outlet for me. ah Yeah. Yeah. No, I really, well, because I also listen, like, I'm a consumer as well. And I always will listen over the the visuals, like, that they do on YouTube and stuff for, like, all the podcasts because I listen to a lot.
01:30:36
Speaker
The only one that I think I watch their YouTube channel is um Bailey Syrian. She does like murder and makeup. And then sometimes call her daddy. If I like the person that's on there. I don't listen to call her daddy religiously. I used to.
01:30:51
Speaker
um Like I'm talking like seven years ago. But if I'm like, if I like when Chapel Rune was on or if I like the person that's on, I'll watch the clips. I just listen to a lot of like TV show rewatch podcasts.
01:31:04
Speaker
hmm. Like, um, Podme Twirled, the Full House one, the Grassy Started one. It's so funny because I, like, don't like those ones. It's so crazy that, like, not even, like, i um it's just I just don't, I don't know, I don't have interest in them. for so It's so funny, like, what people are interested in and what they're, like, not.
01:31:23
Speaker
I like hearing all the behind the scenes of shows that I watched 20 years ago. Yeah. Getting their insights into it.
01:31:31
Speaker
I think the One Tree Hill girlies have one, too. Me and Jen were big One Tree Hill fans.
01:31:37
Speaker
Pretty sure they do. Sophia Bush and I think Hilary Burton have a podcast. Oh, I don't think I knew that. But Sophia Bush, like I could listen to her talk all day. it. Oh my God. Literally. Yeah. We loved One Tree Hill growing up. It was so good.
01:31:52
Speaker
Never watched it. Oh, so good. Yeah, it was very good. I think I'm also probably a good chunk older than y'all. used watch a lot of TV together. A lot.
01:32:07
Speaker
lot of Swift-y stuff, lots of One Direction stuff. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, 90% of what we would do
01:32:21
Speaker
That, and like, watch, we used to play those video games, the really spooky ones, and then get ourselves all worked up. Thunderman, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it was terrifying. It'd be like, We're just playing in the neighborhood. We would play, like, Manhunt, Cops,
01:32:36
Speaker
Hide and seek. That was the time where like everybody, you know, like people like we're going back to like early 2000s when we would just be out there with no shoes on and the trees on our street had those like sticky, sappy things. And my grandma would always be like, I'm so sick of having to peel this off your phone. I'm like, still gonna do it tomorrow. Like I never, at me and my brother, we never had shoes on. It was.
01:32:56
Speaker
Yeah. Today, I would never let my kids do that because um and in our yard, they're always out there with no shoes on. don't care. But, like, we would, like, I would, look like, we would be walking around the neighborhood with no shoes on. It was crazy. Thinking back, i'm like, whoa. Yeah.
01:33:08
Speaker
Earthing in Upper Darby. That's probably why I love Delco so much.
01:33:14
Speaker
Back when kids played outside. Yes, we were always outside. Always. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we spent, like, most of our lives just, like, running around our neighborhood. Always, literally. Like, yeah, it wasn't until we were in, like, I was in high school and she was in eighth grade that we started kind of, like, resorting more to, like, in the house. Especially because she was in orchestra and stuff. So, like, I would go to her shows or I would go to just, like, go to anything. Because she was, like, involved in bob and a lot of stuff. I was not. But we would, um yeah, we would hang out in the room when we got little bit older.
01:33:42
Speaker
And then go to, like, the casino with my grandma. But, like, we would stay in the hotel. That was really fun. That was really fun. Yeah. And I don't think we ever did any of the pier stuff when we did it. We did that. We went to Atlantic city a couple times, but we never did any of the, row we did nothing. No, we just, yeah.
01:34:00
Speaker
Yeah. I think we would just like walk around. like Get room service and not knowing that it would like go to my aunt's card. What a time. What a time. Oopsies.
01:34:12
Speaker
have to be young.
01:34:15
Speaker
Anyway. Yeah. Go ahead and wrap this up. But I do want to say one. Thank you, Sarah, for joining us. course Thanks for having me. It was really, like I said, it was really fun. It was really interesting. I liked seeing how you guys do your thing.
01:34:27
Speaker
Thank you for putting up with all of our talk that you know nothing about. Yeah. I'm used to it. um And then I want to say thank you to everyone who's listened to us over the past year, because our next episode will be our one year anniversary episode, which is crazy.
01:34:42
Speaker
Yeah, that's a big deal. That's awesome. Yeah. Crazy to think about. Yeah. What a year. Yeah. And I know we'll talk a lot about the future of the podcast and some things we have planned and it'll be fun.
01:34:55
Speaker
I have some ideas for the episode that I have not told you yet, Jen. Yeah. I'm excited for it. I think it'll be ah great episode. Yeah. Well, until then, hashtag think inverted.
01:35:08
Speaker
hashtag think like a GP
01:35:12
Speaker
i' like yeah and we will see you all next time bye guys
