Introduction and Pod Swap Excitement
00:00:00
Speaker
You are listening to the Inverted Creative Podcast. I'm Allison. I'm Jen. I'm Brian. I'm Mikhail. And I'm Nate.
00:00:18
Speaker
Oh my gosh, it's a pod swap.
Meg's Podcast Journey and Horror Movies
00:00:23
Speaker
Hi Meg. Hi Allison. So I was on Meg's podcast recently for the first time. Yes. Talking about horror movies, which I don't do movies often and I don't do horror movies especially. So naturally I went on to a podcast to talk about them.
00:00:42
Speaker
Just for me. I feel very special. And I have known for a long time I wanted Meg on the podcast um She is known as not a Thusie.
00:00:54
Speaker
So this is going to be a very interesting format for this episode. I'll try. I'll try my best. and if i if I don't come with accuracy, I'll come with flavor. How about that?
00:01:07
Speaker
So the point of these conversations episodes is to... you know, give one, give my friends a platform to talk, but to like talk to coaster people of all types.
00:01:18
Speaker
Even if you say you're not a Thuzy, you do have some. I maintain you can be a coaster person without being a Thuzy.
Meg's Roller Coaster Enthusiasm
00:01:27
Speaker
And i think that's what I am. And i enjoy roller coasters. I like riding them.
00:01:33
Speaker
I just do not enjoy them to the point that many people in this hobby do. I am one of those people. And there's nothing wrong with that.
00:01:45
Speaker
But you do have at least like some, I wouldn't call it knowledge because I know you say you don't have the knowledge, but you have exposure to the coaster world. Yes. I have. I feel like i have knowledge of the coaster world. i don't have knowledge of coasters specifically. Like i did not know up until like probably, I think finally last year,
00:02:09
Speaker
I didn't know what people meant when they said inversions, like, which is total common sense. Like when you just think of the word, but like, I just never, you know, um, I don't know a lot of the manufacturers. I mean, so like, I can't talk about that stuff.
00:02:26
Speaker
Um, but i ride roller coasters with my friends and I really have a good time doing it. And i have opinions on roller coasters and parks and things like that. They're just usually, from a different like viewpoint than a lot of people that we're friends with.
00:02:46
Speaker
Can you name any manufacturers? I know B&M. You know what it stands for. Bollinger and Mallard?
00:02:59
Speaker
That's a duck. What it? Bollinger and Mallard. What is it? Bolliger and Maviard. Okay. I was close. I was close. um' I am impressed at that. um Gravity Group. I know Gravity Group. Heck yeah. You better. yeah um I know. oh that one. RMC, obviously. rocky Rocky Mountain Construction. I do know that. That's a lot easier to say than Bolliger Maviard. Mock.
00:03:27
Speaker
Mock product. um that's all I got right now I probably do know more but ah that's all I can think of off the top of my head how was that no it's pretty good I'm impressed by that yeah there's some really weird manufacturer names so yeah but I know those ones um RMC I know because I love RMCs um I do know enough to say that. um Mark tells me that I like B&Ms. I like that it's Mark tells me I like them. Yeah, i I rely on him to, he knows like, I don't know.
00:04:04
Speaker
um Who made ah Leviathan? B&M. Okay, so yeah. And then Voyage, Steel Vengeance, Leviathan.
00:04:17
Speaker
What about Big Bear?
00:04:21
Speaker
Vekoma. Oh, see, Vekoma's one that I would have thought of if I had a few more minutes. I'm sad at how long it actually took me to remember that it was Vekoma.
Meg's Involvement in Coaster Communities
00:04:31
Speaker
Yeah. So, i don't know. That's, yeah, that's kind of all I know. Those are those are the manufacturers I know.
00:04:39
Speaker
Am I missing any common sense ones? Zamperl is a big one. er Well, Aero is one of the older ones. Oh. GCI.
00:04:50
Speaker
Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. None of those are ones that I would have named. So I feel like I named the ones that I... That's more than I expected. Thank you. See?
00:05:02
Speaker
I retain information sometimes. it and I should. You kind of have a coaster count? i used to keep count.
00:05:13
Speaker
Um... Then I stopped. But if I had to guess, I am probably hovering around 150 now. um i hit And then i like didn't really go on trips in twenty twenty four why then yeah i'm probably hovering around one fifty because hu
00:05:45
Speaker
Because I had a pregnancy in there and then a baby. So I didn't ride coasters for like a year and a half. um And then I got back on the horse or back on the train. so Back on track.
00:05:57
Speaker
Back on track. There you go. yeah There you go. back on toster puns in Yes. So how did you get thrust into this world that you kind of know about?
00:06:11
Speaker
So if you listen to or know of the drunk riders, um Mark is my husband. um And Marcus is actually how I met Mark.
00:06:26
Speaker
um I don't think, well, I don't know. Maybe people know that, but I don't know if that's as well known of a fact. um Marcus is actually how I met Mark. um So I worked at the,
00:06:39
Speaker
a job with Marcus's wife, Emily. And um then i got introduced to Mark through them. And I knew that Marcus was like in a roller coaster club. And like, that's how he knew Mark. But like, I didn't really understand like, what that meant and what that entailed. and then once I started dating him, it was like, oh this is And like one of our first dates was um dates was to Cedar Point.
00:07:17
Speaker
um And he actually was great because I had a double ear infection when we went and had really like my vertigo was all messed up, like um or my balance was all messed up. And i ended up throwing up after think it was Val Raven.
00:07:33
Speaker
was Val Raven or Gatekeeper. And couldn't ride any more rides for the rest of the day. And he just like stuck it out with me and hung out. And so I was like, oh yeah. So like, you're not like that into him. And then i realized that I was wrong and to realize like what a big deal it was. And then, um, he started the podcast when we were living together.
00:07:56
Speaker
Um, and then Velocistumble was actually, i don't know how many people know this either. Velocistumble was actually the tail end of my honeymoon. That was actually part of my honeymoon.
00:08:09
Speaker
Um, this feels very similar to me. Yes. Yeah. So we went to Hawaii for 10 days and Mark was like, so there's like a coaster event. And so at that point the club had started, i didn't really want it much to do with it.
00:08:22
Speaker
Um, went to Velocistumble. and then i wasn't active in the club at all until Hollywood Nights 2022, which is where I kind of first interacted with the club, like met a lot of people that I'm like really tight with now, um and kind of got more involved than I was, and since then I've kind of been like Sometimes on the fringe, sometimes in the thick of it, just depending on where I am mentally and emotionally.
00:08:57
Speaker
And i love roller coasters on, like I said, not to the level that a lot of other people do. i am not someone who can ride them like. all day for multiple days in a row. um But I can ride the ones that I like. And I really enjoy the friendships that I have in my life that have come from roller coasters. And like, honestly, that's how I met my husband. So i really can't say bad things about that.
00:09:25
Speaker
but And that's how we met too. That is how we met. So obviously like Marcus, um before the club even started, I think you guys were coming through on a trip and Mark's like, hey, do you want to go to Kings Island? and i was like, yeah.
00:09:43
Speaker
And my brother and sister and I came and that's where I met you, even though you don't remember it. And it was almost. Once we talked about it, I remembered it a little more. Yes, you remember it a little more. know I have a video clip of Somebody opening an umbrella and hitting you in the head with it, I think.
00:10:01
Speaker
That sounds about right. And I would love to see that. all own I think that's what it was. could And so that's when I met you. And case in point, one of the very amazing friendships I've made through community. So, yeah.
00:10:18
Speaker
Yeah, that trip was like kind of the precursor to Buzz Bars. It was. It was was like the last. poster force event that we did before buzz bar started yes and it was like me in an airbnb with like 12 guys and we went to a holiday world in kentucky kingdom and then kings island and cedar point oh yes and it was good it was a fun time it was fun it was a lot of fun um i remember my sister afterwards so she would have been like
00:10:50
Speaker
Oh, God. When did we decide that was? How many years ago? oh and I literally just texted you about it the other day. Was it eight? Seven or eight. so Yeah, I want to say so between like seven or nine. So my sister would have been like 13, I think.
00:11:04
Speaker
It was 2019. So seven years ago. And I remember my sister. Okay, so she was like 15. fifteen I remember her being like, those are Mark's friends. And I was like, yeah. And she goes,
00:11:22
Speaker
Huh. No, my sister was mean. So like it was a but it was a judgmental, huh? I'm sure. Yeah. But even now, like my brother and sister are really into roller coasters and they like riding them. I think they're just very.
00:11:38
Speaker
Skeptical of the club. And all the people.
00:11:44
Speaker
Which is kind of how I was. So. Trax. and but Velocistumble was such a good time though. It was very good. it was very good. I know. I think it was like me and Steven, you and Mark, and then Brian and Megan. Yes. And it was so long, so much fun. And like, that was g when, yes, I was like, that was when like, you and I had already like hung out and talked, like you came to my wedding, like we were good. And then Brian and Megan, I like didn't really didn't know. And I remember just at the end of the day being like, I'm so freaking glad there are people here that like, I like and I can hang out with. I remember us going on Dudley's and then all of us getting in the big dryer afterward.
00:12:31
Speaker
And Jake's shirt. I remember the shirt. Yep. So ah it was a good time. Velocity Stumble was a good time. It was a great, great event. That was like the first big event that they did, I think. It was. It was. And that was when I was like,
00:12:50
Speaker
I had not realized at that point, I knew they had the podcast. I knew was popular. I did not realize how popular and like how many people, um bought into this idea, bought into this until Veloci stumble. And then I think at Hollywood nights, that was my first event where like, I saw other clubs and like, what ah an actual like population this is, you know? Um, and I just remember being like, Oh,
00:13:19
Speaker
okay, so this is the thing this is a thing. like And ever since then, I've kind of like made it my mission to like tell people about it because I feel like it's such like an unknown community. And then I tell people about it and they get so excited. Like we have the birthday bash coming up and the girl that I ordered cupcakes from for the birthday bash, I think might join the club and might meet up with us at Holiday World. Because she's like, what are these cupcakes for? And was like, well, this is gonna sound weird, but I'm in a roller coaster club.
00:13:55
Speaker
I have to start a lot of conversations with that. Yes, yes. So I do think it's fun. Like, I think it's been a fun part of just like being a part of this community is just like getting to educate other people on it just because like people's reactions are so much fun and just so entertaining. And they run the gamut from like, oh that's interesting to be like, oh, that's really cool. I want to join. And I'm like buzzwords.com.
00:14:27
Speaker
I feel like I should be our hype girl. And I am. i was just about to say, look at Meg being our hype girl. I know I am. Sometimes I, ignore my claim to fame is that, um, I, the pink lady shirts at Hollywood nights were my idea. And I know for a fact that a lot of people that joined the buzz bars found out about us because of those pink shirts.
00:14:49
Speaker
And so that's my claim to buzz bars fame. Yeah.
Buzz Bars Coaster Club and Social Experiences
00:14:55
Speaker
And like, it's so a fun story about not holiday, not Hollywood nights, I guess, in a way I was at Epic universe during Hollywood nights last year, something like that. But of course, you know, all the buzz parts, people were hanging out together. yeah um And one of Evan's friends was there and we're watching, um they were watching videos apparently.
00:15:19
Speaker
And his friend is like, he saw me in the video. He's like, who is that? I think I know her. It was a guy I dated in college. What? Yep.
00:15:34
Speaker
What? ah No, I didn't know about this. um He ended up joining the club for a little bit. i don't know if he's active in the club anymore. Yeah, like we literally reconnected like 15 years later because he knew Evan.
00:15:46
Speaker
awesome. they were watching the videos that I made. That's awesome. At Hollywood Nights. And he's like, I think I recognize her. That's so funny. Mike was texting me about it at like two in the morning when I was at Epic Universe. and I'm like, what is happening? What is happening? I think my first holiday, holiday Hollywood nights, good Lord, is like right after I started the Not A Thuzy like account on Twitter back when I had Twitter. And I remember I was at like, and somebody was like, oh, you're Not A Thuzy. And I was like, yeah.
00:16:19
Speaker
And it like really freaked me out that someone knew me as the
00:16:26
Speaker
and the um And it was West from High Rollers. And I'm just like, yeah. yeah Yes, I am. But I think it's just so cool. Like, it brings just so many people together over, like, such a weird interest. And, like, I think that it's really – this is going to sound so corny. But, like, I think it's really magical that, like, all of these – things have come of that and like I'm just so proud of the boys and everybody that has like done stuff for the club because seeing it become like what i mean you've been around it longer than I have and like from what it used to be like you had Coaster Force and then and then like TDR happened and now Buzz Bars exists and like I have so many friends and people in my life that like I cannot imagine life without because of roller coasters and that is just awesome and funny yeah like I've known Marcus for like 20 something years now yeah which is crazy yep like there's some very little pictures of us hanging out I think Mark's known him since he was 13 so like 20 years um and I mean I've known I've known you guys for 10 years now because Mark and I'll it'll be 10 years for us this year so I know i know
00:17:51
Speaker
It's insane. It's insane. No, that's a grown one. have to say that for Nate.
00:17:59
Speaker
um Yeah. I mean, I have the club to thank for meeting my husband. Uh-huh. Yep. And, you know, like the majority of my friend group are all. I know. know. It's crazy.
00:18:13
Speaker
crazy It's bananas. And it's just so cool because like I was telling somebody once when I was talking about the club, i was like, you know, one thing that is really cool is like we can go to pretty much any city in the United States and have a friend who's like less than an hour away. And that's just really awesome. And like we can be at a park across the country and run into people that we know. Yeah. And It's just cool. It's I love the community in it. Like, that's why I kind of always say like, I'm not necessarily in a club for the coasters. I'm in it for the club um and the people and
00:18:54
Speaker
That's all I can say because they keep me coming back. The coasters are a perk. um I think everybody else considers the friends a perk, but like the friends are the priority for me and the coasters are. Oh, yeah. 100% for me, too. Yes. The events get me to go ride coasters. but Exactly. Exactly. so much more excited about seeing friends. Correct.
00:19:14
Speaker
We're going to Atlanta this weekend for Air Force One. R.I.P. R.I.P. Curious about your thoughts on that, hearing that reaction. um But, like, we're going to be hanging out with a bunch of people. And arguably, I'm so much more excited to just see everybody and hang out them than I am to ride the airport.
00:19:32
Speaker
Exactly. Like, birthday bashes in two weeks and, like, Holiday World. And i love Holiday World. Like, it's one of my all-time favorite parks. um But, like, I'm just so excited to see everybody.
Balancing Coaster Events with Family Life
00:19:42
Speaker
Aerie, I have not ridden it and will not get to ride it.
00:19:45
Speaker
So that is why I had that reaction. Okay. because I have heard from many people that it is a roller coaster that I would like and I will not get to ride it. So bo I know, I know we thought about like flying down for one day, but like just can't swing it right now. Having, ah having two small children will do that. So yeah,
00:20:11
Speaker
So, yeah. I feel like this episode is just turning into a giant advertisement for Buzz Bars, but that's okay. I mean, I'm in Buzz Bars. Join it. I'm in Buzz Bars. Yes. Allison's in Buzz Bars.
00:20:24
Speaker
um So what are some of the events that you've been to through Buzz Bars? Okay. know it's probably a lot at this point. It has been a lot. um Oh, my God. Let me look at my PowerPoint.
00:20:39
Speaker
Because I put all the events that I've been to on there. So, yeah, for those who don't know, Meg made a PowerPoint about not being a Thuzi. Oh, the cats are fighting now.
00:20:50
Speaker
Of course they are. That's what I get for leaving the door open. um But what you and i you didn't call it not a Thuzi. No, I called it undercover Thuzi. That's it.
00:21:01
Speaker
Yeah. but So I made it, my work had a PowerPoint day and none of them knew that like this was part of my life. And so that is, yeah.
00:21:14
Speaker
Okay. So I did I'll start with Hollywood night. Well, I'll start with Velocistumble. So I did Velocistumble, then I did Hollywood nights. Then I did Carowinds. um And then I did i missed Europe cause I got pregnant.
00:21:29
Speaker
So I didn't do any in 2023, think. Then I did Worlds of Fun and Lost Island.
00:21:40
Speaker
um Then I would did Dollywood. and then I did Stumble in the Hole, so Silver Dollar City. i also, this is not listed in here, but I also um did the first women run Gerbil Gerbil.
00:21:56
Speaker
um at cedar point gerbil xl 200 yes um i did the gerbil gerbil at kennywood um i did top thrill i did six flags new england then i found out i was pregnant and ah once again didn't go to europe once again i did not go to europe if you had a nickel for every time that's happened I would have two nickels, which is two nickels too many. It isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. It's weird that it happened twice.
00:22:26
Speaker
ah And then my first event after Mackie was born was Chicago. started did Chicago and then Vegas and then Dollywood. Was it Dollywood?
00:22:47
Speaker
Wait, no. When did we do Dollywood?
00:22:51
Speaker
i don't remember. And then... Oh, Canada's Wonderland was the last one that I did. And then i will be at the birthday bash in two weeks. m Yes. so I've done a lot. mention Super Duper Stumble?
00:23:05
Speaker
Oh, and Super Duper Stumble. And Wobble Me Timbers? don't know if you mentioned that. And Wobble Me Timbers. Yeah. Yes. I forgot those ones. I featured you a little bit in the Super Duper Stumble music video. Oh, yes. I was featured in that.
00:23:19
Speaker
The whole video is me now. Yep. um Right before I puked. so The puking was not included in the video. The puking was not included in the video. It was just on laugh track.
00:23:35
Speaker
That's also my claim to fame is that I threw up on laugh track. In my defense, they had all the lights off. It was pitch black and I could not see anything. And I would not have thrown up if that had not been the case. Yeah. So.
00:23:50
Speaker
It's hard for me to do spinning coasters anymore anyway. Yeah, I don't spin anymore. And in retrospect, I never should have even gotten on that, but I did. so I got shamed recently for skipping a spinner crud.
00:24:01
Speaker
I will never shame you for that. I appreciate that. Yeah. That's the other. So, okay. That's the other thing about me and coasters is that I will not ride a coaster just to say that I have the cred or say that I've ridden it. Um, Mark is very good at telling me if I will like a roller coaster or not. And I pretty much trust his judgment unless someone can convince me otherwise.
00:24:24
Speaker
yeah. There are a lot of coasters that I have not ridden and will not ride just because I'm very sensitive to like migraines. And so I don't mess with, and I don't do backwards.
00:24:38
Speaker
I will not do backwards except in very rare circumstances. Except on one when Mark tells you it'll be okay. Except when Mark tells me it'll be okay. Yes.
00:24:49
Speaker
Yeah. I need his reassurance. Yeah.
00:24:54
Speaker
So, yes, those are all the events I've done. And then plus like, oh, plus just like random trips that we've done all over. Were you there on like the first Canada trip that we kind of did? Yes. The one where we all stayed and did the friendship bracelets. Yeah.
00:25:13
Speaker
Yes. Those were so cute. That was so much fun. That's actually why Leviathan is in my top five because of that trip. Oh, that was such a good trip. Yes, it was it was a very good one. And we went to, i still have my friggin, I feel bad that I have a shirt from here now, but Marineland.
00:25:28
Speaker
Yeah. I remember was hanging out at Marineland. Mm-hmm. Because we rode the dragon thing and saw the bears. Yes, I do remember you being excited about the bears. I'm i'm always excited about bears. Yeah.
00:25:43
Speaker
Yes, did Canada. And then obviously you and I talked about our way, way, way back Kings Island trip. Yep. did you guys come to the Friendsgivings at Dollywood that we did?
00:25:59
Speaker
i don't think so. Okay. and We did two. That was like way, way, way long ago. Okay. Yeah, i don't think so then. And we did those. That's why Dollywood is one of my favorite parks. Well, Dollywood is my favorite park.
00:26:14
Speaker
um Yeah, so I've been to a lot of parks. There's also a lot of parks I haven't been to. um I pretty much haven't been to any of the, I've never been to California, so I haven't really been to anything on the West Coast. um And then there's a few just like random, a lot of the parks in like the South I haven't been to.
00:26:36
Speaker
um And then like the Northeast, but Midwest and well, I guess South I've been to a lot. But I've been to a fair amount, I feel like. i've been I've been to more amusement parks than most of the general public. Right.
00:26:55
Speaker
which By nature of being married to Mark. Correct. Yeah. and because those parks generally get tacked on to just other trips that we're doing. So, but that's okay. I like them.
00:27:08
Speaker
Is Mark always like, hey, if I go an hour away, there's a plus two I could get? Yes. Yes, yes. Yes. And sometimes, and usually, especially if it's a freaking visa spinner, I make him go in by himself, like like do the entire thing by himself. um The only time I've not done that is when we went to Malibu, Jackson, Kentucky, because that's when I was doing Not A Thuzy. So I wanted to rate those like just for fun. um But I don't do that anymore because it's not worth it. Yeah.
00:27:42
Speaker
So... but it was fun. And
00:27:48
Speaker
and I know we talk about a lot of the social stuff for buzz bars. And for me and you, I like to think back to wobble me timbers and post that picture.
00:28:02
Speaker
off to one of all of us. Yeah. I have it if you need it. I can definitely post that. I won't make it the episode art because, you know, coaster podcast. Sorry. That's okay. But, yeah, we had a day in Michigan. Like, we did Michigan's Adventure. it was a very okay day. It was very busy there.
00:28:19
Speaker
um But then we just had, like, a a beach night kind of thing yeah on the lake. A beach cookout. Yeah. and We had um Perry was making pizza. Like, he had a whole pizza oven there. Yeah.
00:28:31
Speaker
Yeah, Metal Mike brought spaghetti and we literally just had pizza and spaghetti on the beach. lot of the guys were playing what flag football. or Flag football with a random group of teenagers. Yeah, and also some questionable warning signs that were. Yes, but yes. No one got equal, which was good. Yeah, it was. That's what it was. Yeah. find um But then just a bunch of us were just chilling in the water. We got some really cute pictures of a lot of us girls. It was like me and you and Kelly and Bethany, I think. Yep, yep.
00:29:01
Speaker
It was so good. That was like one of the events too. And I mean, you talk to a lot of people in the club and like that is one of people's like favorite events because it was just like perfect. It was such a good day. Like we had the morning at the park and like you said, it was busy, but like it was still a good day to be at the park. um And then the beach afterward was just like the ultimate, just like chill sesh. And everybody was just in a great mood. Everybody had so much fun and it was truly like had nothing to do with coasters. Yeah.
00:29:32
Speaker
It was just driving it out at the beach. Yep. Yep. And those are my favorite, those are my favorite moments. Like that's why honestly, why i liked Hollywood nights so much. The time that we went was the cabin parties at the end of the night. And like, I think all of the, all of the stumbles, all of the events, um,
00:29:56
Speaker
Like I said, I can tell you more about like the social stuff that happened rather than what coasters I rode. um I was just telling Allison before we started recording that at the Chicago event, I don't even remember being at the park, um which, you know, i was, i was, if i I was a little bit in impaired, but like still all my memories of that weekend are from times away from the park yeah um and just hanging out with our friends. So it's been,
00:30:26
Speaker
it's just been really cool to be a part of. I'm very lucky to be a part of it. um And I think we just have really good group of people. so I think that's what a lot of people stick around with buzz bars for is more for the social aspects. Yes.
00:30:45
Speaker
Yeah. And that's one thing that I have noticed about the coaster community, like as a whole, is that there's not a lot of like those social aspect things. And I think that part of it is because like,
00:30:55
Speaker
it is sort of an under known hobby. And I think that a lot of us know that there are some stereotypes that go along with like coaster enthusiasts too, as far as like socially and um personality wise. And i think Buzzbars has a unique um spot in like the community where we really do focus just as much on the social aspect of the club as just the roller coasters. And we focus on the social aspect just as much, if not more. i think it's more. You too. Um, then like the coasters themselves. Yeah.
00:31:31
Speaker
So, and it's not about just like meeting up at the park. It's about having like an entire, like we don't, our weekends aren't just the time at the park or weekends are the entire weekend. Yeah. And that's what I like about it. Yeah. Like with the birthday bash coming up. Yes, we have Voyage ERT. Yes, we have some water park ERT, which I'm very excited about. so excited.
00:31:51
Speaker
i But we're doing like a big cabin crawl. um We're doing like afternoon games or something like that. I think we're doing kickball. Yeah.
00:32:02
Speaker
Yes. We're in talks to do like a cool video for the whole event. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I'm really excited for the cabin crawl. Oh my God. I'm so excited. I'm so excited. i have We do get to bring some of the nerdy side of coasters into the social events. Yes. 100%.
00:32:24
Speaker
like The wicked Wicked Awesome Stumble cabin crawl. Were you there for that one? Yes, yes I was. I was the killer.
Themed Social Events and Personal Coaster Experiences
00:32:30
Speaker
Yeah, you killed me. That's right. ahha I did. yeah we had like a little We had a little murder mystery game going on during our cabin crawl.
00:32:37
Speaker
Spoiler alert, I was the murderer and I got to kill Allison. yep I was dressed as a legend. like Physically dressed as a roller coaster.
00:32:48
Speaker
I had like this this brown dress and I drew like wood panels on it and I had a like cheney was in her freaking raven costume
00:32:59
Speaker
and i'm running around in a rainbow scream mask but like people had so much fun like each cabin was themed to like a spooky coaster um ours was cannibal on okay side note i never got to make a music video for the event because nobody uploaded video for it.
00:33:19
Speaker
I don't remember that, but I'm a little mad. um i had plans to because you know what song I was going to use? What? Cannibal by Kesha. Bro, that would have been perfect. That was also part of why I wanted the Cannibal Cabin so I could just like blast that song.
00:33:37
Speaker
I don't think we even played music, but did you did you see what I made? I made like the um skull that was like covered in meat so it looked like skin peeling off of it. It was sick. It also definitely should not have been sitting out in the sun like it was, but it's fine. No one got food poisoning. So it's all good. It's all Very drunk. Yes. But no food poisoning. Very drunk. Yes. ah like that Just bringing the nerdy to the social events is fun.
00:34:04
Speaker
Yes, I agree. um Birthday bash, all the cabins are assigned An event. An event in Buzzbars history. ah her And my cabin is Poland, which I'm excited about. We have some fun ideas for that.
00:34:18
Speaker
Wish I would have gone. Well. It's Europe trip number one. We have the Chicago Stumble and it is going to be great. lots of inside jokes with the club so many so many i'm very curious to see what the other cabins are doing i am too i've i know a few of them um i'm blessed hashtag blessed to be tight with many people so i've been getting intel on other cabins um and i think they're gonna be really good but
00:34:57
Speaker
I don't know that ours is going to be the best, but I would like it to be yours is going to be good though. Cause it has karaoke. Well, that's cause we have Jake. Yeah. You can't have Jake and not have karaoke to be right.
00:35:09
Speaker
Like also one thing I didn't mention, my bachelorette party was fully at an amusement park. And that is the first time I met Jake. He did not had never met me in person, only knew me on Twitter and found out I was going to be there for my bachelorette party. And he's like, Hey, can I come hang? And I was like, absolutely. And all my friends are like, who's this guy that we're meeting up with? i was like, oh, his name's John Mike. And like, oh, okay, what does he look like? And I'm like, I actually have no idea. And they're like, oh, what? And I'm like, yeah, I've actually never met him before.
00:35:38
Speaker
And having to explain to all my friends that I was meeting up with this guy on the internet because we both ride roller coasters. But they all loved him, so it worked it out. Yeah, it's John Mike. I know. I know. And then he was...
00:35:53
Speaker
the uh the officiant at our wedding i know which he killed it oh my god he did so well so well mad props to you for recruiting him and to him for doing amazingly oh we knew very early on we wanted him to officiate yeah yeah he he's the best i could honestly i could just go on an episode of like everybody in buzz bars and just tell you why i love them because that you are he
00:36:29
Speaker
Funny enough, my bachelorette had zero coasters. Really? Yeah. And mine did. That's wild. Yeah. You know what we did? Korean barbecue and bar hopping. That's what's up, though. That's what's up.
00:36:42
Speaker
We did, I mean, we went Kentucky Kingdom, um but it was mostly, like, for the water park. But I think we rode, like, one or two coasters. Yeah. And then that night we went to a drag show. um But we mostly just went to Kentucky. Like we didn't go to Louisville for Kentucky Kingdom. We went to Louisville because I love Louisville. um And Kentucky Kingdom was just like something to do.
00:37:03
Speaker
So. It's so funny that you you did coasters and I did. I know. I know. That feels so wrong. like to be fair. It feels so backwards. So. so I had my bachelorette like right around the time of my birthday.
00:37:18
Speaker
um And me like Nate's birthday. Oops, I just hit my microphone. um Nate's birthday is um two weeks before mine. And we wanted to do a joint birthday party. So I did my ah my birthday bachelorette.
00:37:32
Speaker
I remember. i remember. looked cute that day. I'll give it that. I mean, you usually look cute. Yeah.
00:37:43
Speaker
Thank you. but You're welcome. I was extra sparkly that day. Sparkles always help. Sparkles elevate a lot. Sparkles, custom sash. oh Got a lot of free drinks. It was great. We love.
00:37:55
Speaker
We love a free drink. Yes. Oh, man. There it is. not just like I just keep thinking of like all the different events that you and I have been to together. I know. it's been a lot.
00:38:08
Speaker
And that we have fun. um Super duper stumble. I remember like how many of us took over the chocolatier. Yes. Oh my God. There's a really good picture of me from that where I'm like holding chocolate martini. Yep. I took that one. Yes, you did. And thought about using that for the episode art, but um I love that picture. it was literally from like across the room. Yes. And I'm just like, hmm.
00:38:32
Speaker
I love that picture so much. I think I did a side by side of like that. And then the scene from the Great Gatsby. Yes. Yes, you did. Yeah. Yeah. um Oh, Chocolatier was so much fun.
00:38:45
Speaker
We had a lot of us there for that. We did. There were a lot of us at Hershey. And of course, that's the event where i everybody's like, where did Meg go? LOL. She puked all over herself and had to go back.
00:38:57
Speaker
But it ended up still being a great weekend. And so for Super Duper Stumble, that happened to be when, what was it? Tropical Storm Hurricane Ophelia or something. Sandy. Or it wasn't Sandy. It was, um. I think it was Ophelia.
00:39:11
Speaker
Was it Ophelia? Ophelia. Yeah. I think it was because I think somebody used that song for it. Hold on.
00:39:23
Speaker
I'm literally pulling up like. her i put it I mentioned it in the title of the music video. Oh, there you go.
00:39:35
Speaker
Super duper stumble meets tropical storm Ophelia. Yep. Ophelia. There you go. And then I edited the logo to have the ah tropical storm. Yes. It was perfect. It was perfect. when this meant yeah We don't even let a tropical storm ruin us.
00:39:49
Speaker
We didn't get as many coaster rides. but but it was still We still got a lot though because I rode almost everything except Skyrush. oh There were things with Skyrush that we can't. I still haven't ridden Skyrush.
00:40:02
Speaker
Oh wow. Or wait, did I? Have I ridden it?
00:40:07
Speaker
I don't think I have. I don't think I have. I wouldn't remember but with you don't I wouldn't remember. That's the thing. I have to ask Mark. Mark is like my, um he's like my coaster counter.
00:40:22
Speaker
He knows if I've ridden things or not. I don't know. I don't think I've ridden Skyrush, though. You'll have to ask him. Yeah, I'm almost positive I haven't. I don't even know where he is right now.
00:40:34
Speaker
Skyrush is one of two coasters that my first ride on it, I thought I was going to die. like oh Why? Because of the way that the restraints were before they changed the trains where they sit like a little lower on your thighs. Oh. Like a kink in the drop.
00:40:49
Speaker
So it like throws you. And I'm like, I'm going to get falling out of this train. Yeah. The coaster that I thought I was going to die on was, i just texted Mark and said, have I ridden Skyrush? What is the really, really tall one at Six Flags over Georgia? Yeah.
00:41:06
Speaker
goliath I think maybe it was Goliath. I don't know. But I thought I was going to die on that for some reason. I think it's because like I wasn't stapled and it was like one of my first times. Okay. Yeah. I have not ridden Skyrush.
00:41:21
Speaker
And I tend to just like always get stapled on rides. And so I think that the one time I wasn't, I was convinced that I wasn't like restrained properly and I was going die. And spoiler alert, I was in fact just not staple. Yeah.
00:41:38
Speaker
but So it's fine. i like I like that you know the term stapled. I do. Yes. I mean, as a girl with big belly and big boobs, I need to know that term um because that's like a major factor for me too is how much a restraint like suffocates me for lack of a better word.
00:42:04
Speaker
But it was good. Goliath was good. I remember riding it. I was, rode it with Chris and it was really fun. Once I realized that I wasn't going to die. It's always interesting hearing other people's experiences at over Georgia because it was my home park for 20 years.
00:42:21
Speaker
Yes. I liked it. I had a good time there. um I don't remember it. I do want to go back. Uh, but I remember having a good time there. I was there with you. I'm pretty sure because we went, um,
00:42:36
Speaker
It was like before after an event. I want to say. Oh, it was. um
00:42:42
Speaker
No, it wasn't. I don't remember. Never mind. Stumble
00:42:48
Speaker
on my mind? No, because I didn't go to that. Yeah. I don't remember what it was. I want to say it was for Dollywood.
00:42:58
Speaker
But when did we go to Dollywood?
00:43:03
Speaker
Who knows? I don't know. A whale. A whale, a whale. So what are some of your top coasters and parks for the distinguished non-enthusiasts?
00:43:18
Speaker
Parks are easy. ah Dollywood is my favorite park. um Followed very closely by Holiday World. Followed very closely by Silver Dollar City. am After that, it's followed less closely by probably Kings Island.
00:43:34
Speaker
Um, and then that's where I kind of stop keeping track. Um, oh no, but actually after I might put lost Island in front of Kings Island, actually. do i love lost Island. Lost Island is a phenomenal park. Um, the only reason it's that low is because it's hard to get to and it yeah could be bigger.
00:43:55
Speaker
um but I love it. Uh, coasters. So my, current top five and these are not in order this is well the number one is in order and the number two but the three four and five rotate um number one is uh steel vengeance number two is voyage and then the other three are leviathan at canada's wonderland um hagrid's and big bear mountain at deliwood i know you love big bear mountain i love big bear mountain for anyone that doesn't know me i have a very real obsession with bears So when that ride opened and I finally got to ride it and just experience the queue, it was everything I wanted it to be. And then the coaster was more than I wanted it to be.
00:44:43
Speaker
And this past year, I got to um take, well, actually in April, that's when we were in Dollywood in April, because I took Milo. um We went to Dollywood again.
00:44:56
Speaker
And i got to take my three-year-old on Big Bear Mountain. And he absolutely loved it. He rode it twice. um And that was just really, really fun getting to do with him. So those are my top five. um But i also have like places in my heart for a lot of other rides. um Millennium Force is always going to be probably my number zero. Um, the beast is probably tied for my zero, uh, with Millie.
00:45:30
Speaker
Um, that's the first like big kid roller coaster I ever rode. And I still love it. And I don't care how mean people are about my beastie boy. That's good. It's a good coaster. um I will say nothing in this moment. Yeah. Don't say anything.
00:45:47
Speaker
Um, I like Woody's. I like RMCs. Um,
00:45:54
Speaker
ah Other than that, it's a really a hit or miss thing. I'm big into theming any coaster that has a lot of theming. I'm very, very much into. um I do think that more theme parks, that's why I love Lost Island so much. um I think more theme parks need to lean into actual theming um as a whole, not just like per coaster. But but yeah, those are my faves.
00:46:20
Speaker
And have any other favorite parks not really islands of adventure maybe i do love islands of adventure um i don't feel like i don't even count those as parks i feel i feel like i don't count any of like the disney or universal parks as parks they're just like more of just like a experiences of experience yeah but i do love islands of adventure um i think it's a wonderful park and i will go anytime i can but it would be in my top five maybe.
00:46:55
Speaker
Yeah, probably. But I think I count it, yeah, just as like more of an experience as a whole. Makes sense. Yeah. So, yeah, I don't know. what What does that tell you? What did my top coasters tell you about me?
00:47:13
Speaker
i don't know. Good. Good. mean it You said it was Steel Vengeance, Voyage. Steel Vengeance, Voyage, Leviathan, Hagrid's, and Big Bear.
00:47:29
Speaker
The Big Bear one is the odd one out, but also it tracks for you. Fun fact, that was also my niece's first big roller coaster. um she was not She was a little older than three. She was like 10. Did she love it?
00:47:43
Speaker
Yeah. She's been on a lot more since then. Good. I know Milo's so excited. i just It's funny. Before I came on here, I did bedtime with him and we read is for Roller Coaster, um which is one of his roller coaster bedtime books. And every page, he was like, I want to go on that. I want to go on that. I want to go on that.
00:48:00
Speaker
but So it's been really fun. How long have you on I think... He rode four at Dollywood. yeah I think he's been on six that are actual creds. But we are going, we're taking him to Kings Island in a few weeks ah for his birthday. And he will be able to get on pretty much everything in the Snoopy area. So he'll get four new ones there. ok Yeah. um And then he's going want to ride all the flat rides and stuff too. So it'll be a good day.
00:48:38
Speaker
I think my niece is up to like 25 or something. Good for her. She's been on one ah RMC. Okay. She hated it. Iron Gwazi.
00:48:50
Speaker
Oh, okay. She didn't like Gwazi. It was too much for her. but Okay, that's valid. That's valid. I liked Gwazi. um My family came up here, think it was last year, um like shortly after...
00:49:03
Speaker
We got back from Europe and shortly after the engagement and all. yeah But they were up here and we went to Kings Island. My niece put her hands up on Orion. I was shocked. Milo told me today he'll never do that.
00:49:17
Speaker
Like, she was scared, but then I look over at her in the first drop, and she has her hands up. I'm like, oh, my God. Period. But then she, um her rating system was, like, thumbs up, thumbs to the side, or thumbs down. She did two thumbs to the side.
00:49:30
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Valid. I'm like, all right. She didn't do pukeability like some people. Wasn't that how you ranked? You ranked your coasters for a while. That was one of my, I was rating coasters for a while, and I did, um,
00:49:47
Speaker
theming color scheme name puke ability which is like how much I how much it made
Meg's Unique Coaster Rating System
00:49:54
Speaker
me want to puke so laugh track was at five on that yeah laugh track was a five on that laugh ability because that's like my real mark of a good coaster is how much I'm laughing at the end of it um and then something else I forget there's always bonus points that we're always able to yeah I factored in bonus points yeah I would just be like bonus points because I said so.
00:50:23
Speaker
But it was a fun little rating system for as long as it lasted. I do love that you, ah you included color scheme in there. Yes, because it's important. And that's the thing is like, I have such big feelings about coasters that are not like maintained well and look crappy because like, why would I want to ride that?
00:50:43
Speaker
Right. And what are you like? Hmm. I have big feelings. i have big feelings. And there are just some coasters where I'm like, those colors look terrible together. And I don't know who, like, who okayed this. Yes.
00:50:56
Speaker
Like, Oh my God. What is the one in it? I I'm afraid to even ask this question because I'm sure it's like a very obvious answer. What's the, is Maverick the orange and red one at Cedar point?
00:51:06
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Orange and red are a stupid color scheme. A lot of coasters do that. And I don't like it now. Orange and blue. Fire.
00:51:17
Speaker
Fire. So what coasters do you stick out for their color schemes? Um, Machu Ghani at Lost Island, as well as, um, No Pook, No... Napuko. Napuko. I call it No Puko. Yeah, I want to. Yeah, because it's purple. So, like, that. All of, like, the Batman Joker, right like, because they've got those those, like, really strong colors. Like, those are good. I feel like blue is a very solid coaster color. Orion has good, like, theming and good colors. Um...
00:51:50
Speaker
But anything that's like, I mean, and woodies, it's like hard because, you know, it's wood. it's wood But like, um I think Matugani and Nopuko really stand out for me just because of how bright they are. And it's not even just about the colors. It's like a good paint job at once every two years can go a long way. Because like, even if you're even if the coaster is a great color, if it looks dingy and yucky,
00:52:18
Speaker
That ain't it. Oh my God. Like Goliath and over Georgia looked so bad for so Yes. Yes. And I remember walking through. Well, I, okay. That's how I know that I was with you because I remember walking through and we were talking about how even the supports looked terrible.
00:52:34
Speaker
And like that at all. i remember it so vividly. I don't know why, but, um, how like even all my trips to over Georgia are just blend in together. ah It's valid. That's valid.
00:52:49
Speaker
It's a cute little park, but it's not like super memorable. I don't feel like. Yeah. um But yeah, color schemes. I mean, I think it's just something that a lot of parks just like kind of skimp on and don't keep up and it's noticeable.
00:53:04
Speaker
um See, this is how we're bringing the creative in this episode into the inverted creative podcast. We did do an episode about color schemes. Yes. See, and that's important. Yeah. Just like theming is important. I will die on the hill of theming. um Sorry, Tim just texted me and ah told me to remember his water bottle. Hi, Tim.
00:53:25
Speaker
He's another person I need to have on the podcast. a Reminder on my phone. He left his awala at our house like months ago. and so we have to take it. um
00:53:38
Speaker
He's just making sure I'm bringing it to Holiday World. But yes, um theming is really big to me. Colors, like Big Bear looks great.
00:53:50
Speaker
um ah Dollywood is just great about keeping up its rides in general, I feel. yeah All its rides just look really good. ah
00:54:02
Speaker
What else? I'm trying to find if I still have like the note of everything, but I don't think I do. Because there were a few that got like five out of fives on color scheme.
00:54:13
Speaker
Did you have an Instagram or anything or was it just all on Twitter? It was all on Twitter, which I don't do anymore. yeah I don't have it anymore. But i did at like one point. i was going to say, is that account fully deleted?
00:54:34
Speaker
I don't know for sure, though. i mean, I just searched not a Thusian and it didn't come up. Okay, then yeah, it's dead. I think I did actually leave. Yeah.
00:54:45
Speaker
Private deleted are only available on that. But yes, I used to rate things on their theming. Like Big Bear Mountain obviously got a five on theming because of course it did. um Like, that's what I will say about that's why I do like Islands of Adventure. Like, I think those are parks where it is just such immersive theming. And I think Lost Island is the same way. That's why I love a Lost Island. um The theming at that park is phenomenal.
00:55:14
Speaker
But I feel like every most other parks just really lose it. Like there are so many roller coasters that like have some title that you could do a really, ah lot of like really cool theming to and then just have none of it. Like um Mount Olympus. I really love that park. I love the concept of it, but I feel like there's just so much that is under
00:55:38
Speaker
played. There's a lot about that park that's just under everything. Yes! Like, it has the potential to be such a good park! And, like, I am all about mythology. So, like, the first time i went there, i was, like, so excited.
00:55:54
Speaker
And it does a lot of stuff right, but it does a lot of stuff not right, like a lot of other a lot of other parks. I think a lot of other parks, like,
00:56:06
Speaker
try to build up hype around theme and then don't do anything with it. And that is usually disappointing to me. So I just appreciate a coaster or even just like a and a park area that really commits to theming and does it well, because I don't think it has to be hard or even expensive to do. Like there are a lot of just little ways that you can bring in like immersive theming. And I don't think parks do it enough.
00:56:35
Speaker
Little touches add a lot. a Huge. Huge. But even just like the plants you use, like, you know, the landscaping of your park, like they, and Lost Island just did it perfectly.
00:56:51
Speaker
Like absolutely perfectly. They made a freaking app for their park, like an, and not an app that's like, oh, these are the wait times, like an app where like it's interactive. Yes. Yeah. So yeah.
00:57:04
Speaker
I went back to Lost Island recently and still love that park. I can't wait to go back. You know me. You know my love of fire. And I am obsessed with Fire Runner. Matugani, dude.
00:57:18
Speaker
Matugani was such a pleasant surprise at that park. I love I remember loving in that one. Yes. I was so into it. And then I had to ride freaking no Pucco.
00:57:31
Speaker
And all I remember about that coaster. Oh, it got a bonus point because there was a butterfly on the um on the supports when we left. I do remember that.
00:57:42
Speaker
You're talking about the weird bonus points that you have. You know what? I know where it might be. It might be in my Google photos if I still have stuff from it. Let's see.
00:57:55
Speaker
That was in like 2023 that i was doing that that sounds about right yeah I think it was yeah okay I'm just gonna scroll and see what I can find here yeah you would always like we would just find the most random things you're like I feel bad I rated it so low so I'm giving it a bonus point because I want to Yes, that's that's exactly what it was. Here, okay.
00:58:26
Speaker
Twist and Shout at Malibu Jacks in Louisville. um Okay, so it name, color scheme, laughability, puke, ride up, ride up.
00:58:38
Speaker
Q experience and overall experience.
00:58:46
Speaker
What did Twist and Shout get? Twist and Shout got, I think, a 2.5.
00:58:53
Speaker
2.5 out of five. It got four out of five on the name because it was a pun because it was a spinner. So twist and shout. It got three out of five on the color scheme. Three out of five on laughability because it's a spinner.
00:59:06
Speaker
two out of five on pukeability. Four out of five on the ride op because he came in to operate it just for us. I should have given him a five. um One out of five on cue because there was none and zero out of five because it was a visa spinner.
00:59:22
Speaker
Malibu Jacks for fiending.
00:59:28
Speaker
So yes. but I honestly always look forward to your reviews. Thank you. I think I have a lot to say. and
00:59:41
Speaker
I don't have a problem saying it, even though it gets me a lot of... That's ah that's also one of the reasons why I feel bad that I'm missing air Force One, because i have talked for so long about how mid I think it looks.
00:59:54
Speaker
and I think it is. Do you think it is? Okay, I just feel like it looks mid. I'm also a notorious, like, not a big fan of RMC. See, I don't disagree with you there, but... i don't have any RMCs in my top ten.
01:00:10
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Where is Steel Vengeance? I'll hurt your feelings if I tell you, so i'm not going to tell you. What's your top five? Top five? Yeah.
01:00:23
Speaker
Oh, shoot. I got to remember. Okay. Hold on. What's your number one? Velocicoaster. Okay. That's valid. Honestly, Velocicoaster could be in my top five on most days. I just haven't ridden it in a really long time.
01:00:37
Speaker
I feel like I should know my top five a little better than I can right now, but my brain is dead at the moment. You probably have a lot of Europe in your time and your top five. Three out of five are Europe. Okay.
01:00:48
Speaker
Yeah, that makes Glossicoaster, Voltron, Stardust Racers, Taryn, Konda. Okay. Got you i

really want to ride Stardust Racers. So good. really excited for that.
01:01:02
Speaker
Um... I really want to ride to any roller coaster in Europe because... it would mean you were in Europe. It'll just mean I got to go to Europe. Can recommend. Yeah, one day.
01:01:16
Speaker
one day. at least I know this time if I don't go, it won't be because of a pregnancy. so i mean, March Revenge Tour. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. The infamous Revenge Tour.
01:01:30
Speaker
So one other coaster thing I wanted to ask... Yes....is... What are some of your opinions that people have told you are hot takes? Oh, God. Let me ask Mark. Hold on.
01:01:45
Speaker
Because I can't think of... What are some of my coaster hot takes? ah Oh, I don't like Maverick. Or not. Not Maverick. I don't like Magnum.
01:01:55
Speaker
um At Cedar Point. i don't know if that's a hot take. it's It is if you're Keith. Well...
01:02:05
Speaker
Magnum is a very polarizing coaster. Oh, um i think that Orion is a disappointment. um And I also don't think it's a gig. That's not uncommon. but That's not uncommon. But i really, i think that coaster is so mid and it's disappointing.
01:02:23
Speaker
um Let me think. I don't know. Name some really popular coasters and I'll tell you if I think they're good or not. um better question do you even know which ones they are yeah that's that that's the real question just read off posters and I'll tell you if I know what park they're at at the very least um x2
01:02:48
Speaker
um not what the mark voyage is my number two He goes, aren't you a bit mum on Voyage? No, I love Voyage. don't what he's talking about. X2, was that in California somewhere? Yes.
01:03:04
Speaker
Okay. ah Magic Mountain? Yes. That was a total guess. Okay. yeah okay It's probably the biggest park in California. I've never been to any of the parks in California, so I can't speak to any of those rides.
01:03:18
Speaker
ah See, now I kind of just want to name a few coasters and see if you know where they are. Go ahead. Let's do it. um Pantheon. Pantheon is that at Mount Olympus?
01:03:29
Speaker
No. then Oh is it at Busch Gardens? Yes. Williamsburg correct? Yes. Yes! Okay. um Twisted Timbers.
01:03:40
Speaker
Twisted Timbers is at no Mystic Timbers is at Kings Island. is correct. Twisted Timbers should I know this?
01:03:55
Speaker
I mean, it's it's in the U.S. It's an RMC. Twisted Timbers an RMC.
01:04:03
Speaker
Is it in the Midwest? No. Okay. So then it is probably... No, I don't know. I have no idea. in Texas? Is it in Texas? No.
01:04:17
Speaker
Okay, where is it? ah Virginia. Oh, I should have known that. Where at? Oh, I've never been there. That's why. I haven't been to Busch Gardens Williamsburg or King's Dominion.
01:04:31
Speaker
Because I've missed. um Oh, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this because I know we've been on it. Oh, God. I think we wrote it. We might have written it together. Phantom's Revenge. Oh, I loved Phantom's Revenge. It was very good. um i think we did write it together once. I know the first time I wrote it was with MZ. Yeah.
01:04:51
Speaker
um And I think I wrote it with you after that. But and I really enjoyed it. We did the girls takeover train first thing. Yes. And I was I was sad. There was an odd number of girls and I was the one odd person. And were you really? Yeah.
01:05:06
Speaker
I don't think I knew that. Yeah. Oh, I was front row in it. I was towards the back. Oh, no. Fanny's was good. i really enjoyed it. um I only rode like three coasters that entire day. um And that was one of them. So it was very good.
01:05:28
Speaker
Do you know much? You know, you probably don't know a whole lot about like international. Absolutely not. No. I couldn't even name international parks. Do you know anything about the big announcement that was today? ah The date of this film recording?
01:05:44
Speaker
um So I know that Mark posted a video of a coaster that looked like one of the um spinny, but you're spinning, but I forget where it was, but it's 2028 at, is it one of the six flags?
01:06:01
Speaker
Yes. Okay. Which one is it? Great adventure. Great adventure. Okay. So I did see the rendering of that and I will not be riding that roller coaster. Yeah, i don't think you would. Yeah, absolutely you mentioned not going backwards. You would not enjoy this one.
01:06:15
Speaker
absolutely not. Mark, ah the reason I do remember it is because he posted on his story and said something like, I haven't been afraid on a roller coaster in a really long time, but I think this might do it. And I swiped up and just said, absolutely not. Yeah.
01:06:32
Speaker
So I love that for other people. I'm sure it's a very exciting announcement for tons of people. And I would love to wish you all luck. And I will be holding all your stuff at the bottom.
01:06:45
Speaker
and I'm excited for the ride. I don't like the name. but What's the name? oh shoot I already forgot it because it's old. weird, isn't it?
01:06:56
Speaker
Bakunawa. What does that mean? It's ah some kind of mythological creature from the Philippines. Oh, that's kind of cool, though. But are they going to actually theme it as such?
01:07:07
Speaker
I mean, there's a dragon in the logo. so Okay, well, in the logo doesn't count. I know. Well, I have not been to the park to see what they're doing with it. This is fair. This is fair. But that's what I'm saying. Like with that name, you have a mythological creature. You have the capacity there to do some really cool theming. And they're probably not going to do any of it.
01:07:27
Speaker
It is Ryan Eldridge, who has a lot of say in this. He's awesome. So I feel like there could be some. I don't know who that is. well Yeah, he's he's a cool guy. We interviewed on the podcast. He works for like Great Adventure and Six Flags. But really, really cool guy.
01:07:44
Speaker
Well, come through, Ryan. That's all I got to say. We stan Ryan. Okay. <unk> I'll think highly of him, and I'll think even more highly of him if he... If there's theming on the ride. If there's good theming on the ride.
01:08:01
Speaker
I'm very curious to see how that ends up. Yeah. So I did know about that announcement, but it's only because my husband posted it. Yeah. And don't know.
01:08:13
Speaker
Any other coasters?
01:08:18
Speaker
If I say Hyperia, do you know where that is? It's not in the U.S. I was going to say, I know it's um international. Is it at Energylandia? No, it's close because Energylandia has Hyperion.
01:08:30
Speaker
ah Ah, okay. This is Hyperia. So Hyperia is... Hyperion. Is it at Alton Towers? It's the other big park in the U.K. Thorpe. Yes.
01:08:42
Speaker
ah Okay, I was close. If you heard about our like legendary ERT that we had on the UK trip, it was on Hyperia. Yes, I have heard it. We literally set a record.
01:08:54
Speaker
For what? For the most dispatches in an hour. That's insane. i don't think I knew that. Yeah. That's very cool, though. it was it was I forget how many it was, but... Wish I could have been there. Well...
01:09:09
Speaker
Now you have Mackie, so it's fine. I know. I was at home with a three-week-old when you guys were doing that.
01:09:17
Speaker
And then you got to see the pictures of me and Mike getting engaged. This is true. This is true. And that made it worth it. I mostly was upset that I wasn't in Europe for that reason.
01:09:28
Speaker
It would have been really fun. But it's fine. It's fine. I got to go to your wedding. I'll take it. We did. We're glad to have you there.
Meg's Podcast on Horror Movies
01:09:36
Speaker
Thank you. I was happy to be there. was a ball.
01:09:40
Speaker
Well, we are at an hour and 10 minutes already. Jeez. Oh, yeah. Oh, my gosh. It's already past 10. Yeah. Yeah. Well, real quick, tell us about yourself and your podcast that I was on, but keeping it clean because it's an unexplicit podcast. So my name's Meg. If you missed that, I'm married to Mark. We have two children. That's about me. um Right now, i am finding myself with a lot of free time because I quit my full time job back in February to kind of focus on my fam, my kids, myself. um
01:10:15
Speaker
But i restarted a podcast that my brother and I used to have. It's called if you're on Spotify, you can find it by simply searching YGDB. And that stands for you're gonna die. word.
01:10:29
Speaker
beward And but it's on it's on spot up but Spotify. It's on Spotify under just YGDB. And basically, um if you listen to the first season, it's me and my brother recapping and reviewing horror movies. If you listen to the second season, which is the one that I restarted, um it is no longer my brother and i It's just me. And i just have my friends on to talk about horror movies. um Until we started this podcast, I was terrified of horror movies and did not watch them at all. Now I love them. um So I have just my friends on to talk about them and talk about whatever we want. And as I was talking to Allison about earlier, it's kind of just a good reason to watch fun movies and then be able to talk to my friends about them afterward. um And Allison came on for The Purge and it was fan fantastic. And we had a really good talk about it And i hope that you're going to come back for the other purges in the future. I know.
01:11:27
Speaker
You know what i also found out is that there's four other purges. Really? I thought there were only three total. There's five total. What? Yeah.
01:11:38
Speaker
Wow. Okay. and Well, you'll be coming back a lot then. Candice, let me know when. I just got to watch it ahead of time. Will do. American Anthology. Let's see.
01:11:51
Speaker
Oh, yeah, there are five. The Purge, The Purge Anarchy, The Purge Election Year, The First Purge, and The Forever Purge. There was also a television series. I did not know there was a television series. That is wild.
01:12:04
Speaker
Never knew this. Huh. Yeah, because Nate was listening to the episode and he texted me about that because he always live texts me anytime he listens to it podcast.
01:12:21
Speaker
Also, i've never seen Halloween, so he's going make me watch that. oh Oh, please. I want to hear your thoughts on that. Okay, there we go. he He explained everything. He said, anarchy is what happens on the street. Election year is what, what about the officials? First purge is how did this start? Forever purges. What if you can't stop it after 12 hours?
01:12:43
Speaker
Well, I just noticed that polite leader is also in the second one. So let me know when I need to watch it. I am under down to watch the rest of the series. 100% I will. But yes, that's my podcast. You can find that there. um And then don't really have anything else to plug. I don't think. Join Buzzbars if you want to hang out with me and know me more.
01:13:10
Speaker
And even if you don't, you should still join Buzzbars because... If you don't like me, there's 300 other really cool people in the club. But Meg is very cool and we love her.
01:13:22
Speaker
Thank you. Thank you. I love you too. um Yeah, that's all I got though. So go listen the podcast if you like horror movies. Even if you don't, um a lot of my friends that listen don't like horror movies, but just listen for fun. Hi,
Allison's Creative Process for Podcast Logo
01:13:35
Speaker
I'm one of those. Yes. So you can do that too. um I like the podcast because I think that I try to put a lot of comedy into it and a lot of like fun stuff um so that we don't just have to talk about all the really messed up things that happen in horror movies and if we do talk about it we talk about it in a fun way
01:13:58
Speaker
i enjoyed my stream of consciousness notes yes yeah the stream of consciousness notes are always really fun too so yeah that's me though and Thanks having me and another little that we totally forgot to mention when I was on your podcast is that I did the logo.
01:14:15
Speaker
Oh, my God. we didn't even mention that. No, we never did. Yeah, Allison also did the logo for it and came up with it in literally like five minutes.
01:14:27
Speaker
And was like, oh, give me time to think about it. Okay. So you, like, kind of pitched your idea your concept or whatever. And I'm like, all right, let me think on this a little bit. I'll probably get get you something back in a couple days or something. And then I'm at Target.
01:14:40
Speaker
And I literally have the idea pop into my head at Target. And I pull open my phone and my notes app and literally sketch it out just using my finger. And then I get home and I'm like 30 minutes later. I'm like, how's this? She's like, awesome. Yes. Yeah.
01:14:56
Speaker
So we have Allison to thank for our logo. And my clever censoring. Yes. Replacing an eye with a podcast microphone. It was brilliant. It was brilliant.
01:15:08
Speaker
Oh, I love our logo. It's so perfect. You did so great. And it was so short notice and it makes me happy. And just thank you. So if you like our logo, then you know who to call. allison Yes.
01:15:21
Speaker
Ghostbusters. Yeah. I was going to say Allison at Inverted Creative Studio. Also Allison at Inverted Creative Studios. Home of the Inverted Creative Podcast.
01:15:32
Speaker
Yes. And I've been giving you shout outs. Oh, thank you. Of course, you deserve them. But thanks for having me on. on Now that I'm loving the podcast world. I know, right?
01:15:46
Speaker
I feel so honored that I got to be your first one that you were on. I was reminded of an advert I was on like years ago, but it was before I was really into podcasting. Doesn't count.
01:15:56
Speaker
Doesn't count. I'm first. I'm first. I didn't even remember it. Someone you reminded me that I was on it. So I'm like, that oh says a lot. Well, that doesn't count then.
Community Connections and Podcast Reflections
01:16:10
Speaker
It was Jack's old podcast.
01:16:14
Speaker
Oh, yes. Valid. Valid, valid. We can count that, I guess, just because it's baby Jack. Yeah, that what that was Baby Jack. That literal Baby Jack. Now he's Adult Jack, which is weird.
01:16:25
Speaker
Adult Jack. Now he's John. but Now he's Jackathy. Jackathy. Jackalope. That's what I'm going to call him. Jackalope. Jackathan.
01:16:39
Speaker
No. don't like it. Well, any parting words for the podcast? Um... Be nice to people.
01:16:52
Speaker
um Ride roller coasters. Make new friends, but keep the old. and Find your people in the community. Find your people in the community. They are out there, even if you're like, there's no way I could ever be friends with these people. And then you make like all your best friends there. so Can confirm.
