Speaker: Welcome to the Solarpreneur Podcast, where we teach you to take your solar business to the next level.

Speaker: My name is Taylor Armstrong.

Speaker: I went from $50 in my bank account and struggling for groceries to closing 150 deals in a year and cracking the code on why sales reps fell.

Speaker: I teach you how to avoid the mistakes I made and bring in the top solar dogs of the industry to let you in on the secrets of generating more leads, falling up like a pro, and closing more deals.

Speaker: What is a Solarpreneur you might ask?

Speaker: A Solarpreneur is a new breed of Solar Pro that is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve mastery and you are about to become one.

Speaker: What's going on, solarpreneurs?

Speaker: My name is Taylor Armstrong.

Speaker: I'm your host over here at the Solar Printer Podcast.

Speaker: We are back with another episode here bringing you the fire, bringing you the heat, and as usual, helping you make your life much easier as a solar pro by helping you close more deals, generate more leads and referrals, and hopefully have a much better time in the industry.

Speaker: Welcome back.

Speaker: In this episode, we're going to be jamming on a little preview for SolarCon.

Speaker: If you have not bought your ticket already, you've heard me say it episode after episode.

Speaker: You're crazy if you haven't gotten your ticket yet.

Speaker: Go grab it.

Speaker: I don't know if there's a discount at this point.

Speaker: At this point, you can go try it.

Speaker: Our discount code is SOLARPENUR if you go to the SolarCon website.

Speaker: Might still be a little discount if you want to get in.

Speaker: but go grab your ticket.

Speaker: And I just wanted to preview a little bit about what's going to be going on.

Speaker: The people you should not be missing out on to check out at the event.

Speaker: And just a little bit about some of the speakers so you can get a little preview, get a little appetizer before the main course, before the main event.

Speaker: And I hope to see everybody there.

Speaker: Let me know if you are going.

Speaker: We'd love to hear from you.

Speaker: And at Door2DoorCon, we did a little meetup, a little meet and greet, a little hangout for our solar printers.

Speaker: So let me know if you'd be interested in doing something like that.

Speaker: And this event, it does have, I think, lunches actually for like the VIP tickets.

Speaker: So everyone should just get a VIP ticket.

Speaker: We can hang out there.

Speaker: But let me know if you would like to do a little meetup as well.

Speaker: So let's get into it.

Speaker: We're going to start with what you should be checking out.

Speaker: And there is a Platinum Day, which is Wednesday.

Speaker: So if you are a Platinum ticket holder, you're going to be able to hear from guys like Jens Bunnell, Jake Bennington.

Speaker: You're going to get a battery training by Everett Brewer, a little Mixer Mingle.

Speaker: It's going to be a good time.

Speaker: So that's going to be...

Speaker: some fire trainings on that day.

Speaker: But mainly I want to focus on just the general sessions here.

Speaker: The regular days that everyone will be at, everyone should be going to.

Speaker: And so let's get into it.

Speaker: We got day one opens at 8 a.m.

Speaker: And we are starting right off the gates with one of the keynote speakers, I believe.

Speaker: And that's Mr. Andy Elliott.

Speaker: He's going to be speaking to us.

Speaker: I have not personally heard Andy Elliott speak or been to his events.

Speaker: But I have many friends in the industry who say this guy has completely transformed their selling and is just...

Speaker: changing the sales game.

Speaker: So I'm definitely going to be checking him out.

Speaker: And it's Andy Elliott.

Speaker: I know he has a lot of sales consulting events, mastermind type things he does.

Speaker: So definitely do not miss out on him.

Speaker: You got to be waking up early.

Speaker: It's at 830 in the morning for that.

Speaker: And then second on the main stage, we have Kiara Smithy.

Speaker: And you probably are following her on social media.

Speaker: She is definitely loud on social media.

Speaker: She is someone at Power.

Speaker: Definitely, I think, one of the biggest names in the Power organization.

Speaker: And yeah, I'm curious to know.

Speaker: She's built a huge organization, has a lot of people working with her.

Speaker: And I mean, I got some beef with Kiara.

Speaker: I asked her to be on the podcast.

Speaker: She confirmed and then she backed out.

Speaker: So Kiara, if you are listening to this, get back to me on a podcast.

Speaker: You left me hanging.

Speaker: Come on now.

Speaker: But no, Kiara is good.

Speaker: I don't know her super well, but I'm definitely going to be checking out what she has to say.

Speaker: Hey, and then we have Mr. Joe Musakil, probably saying that everyone just knows him as Solar Joe, right?

Speaker: He's going to be speaking right after that on the main stage, day one on Thursday.

Speaker: And then, of course, you got Michael O'Donnell.

Speaker: But before Michael O'Donnell, he got a special Las Vegas acrobatic performance.

Speaker: This is going to be cool.

Speaker: I think they're bringing some people that perform on the strip in some of the shows there.

Speaker: So I'm going to be checking that out.

Speaker: You got Lance Bachman.

Speaker: Not sure who he is.

Speaker: And so I'm just going to be commenting on the people that I know, the people I think you should be checking out.

Speaker: And disclaimer, I'm probably missing out on people.

Speaker: I don't know every name in solar, but I do know a lot of names.

Speaker: So the ones I'm telling you are definitely highly recommended, but I'm sure they'll all be good if they're coming to you at SolarCon.

Speaker: Okay, and then from there, afternoon, you got some breakout sessions.

Speaker: Okay, and the way they do this, there's three different options to choose from and different topics.

Speaker: Some of them have names attached to them.

Speaker: Some of them just have the topics.

Speaker: So I'll give you the ones that I think you should go to based off the name or based off the topic.

Speaker: Or if I don't know, I'm just going to say I don't know the people.

Speaker: But on Wednesday or sorry, Thursday, you got 2 p.m.

Speaker: There's three options to choose from.

Speaker: And I'm going to say you should go check out a door to door tribe.

Speaker: That's the first one I see on here.

Speaker: You also got overcoming first year in sales, and then you got some design, solar design and engineering.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: But we're, we're talking about sales here.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: We're not engineers.

Speaker: So I'm going to be skipping that stuff.

Speaker: I know it's important, but I want to focus on the juicy stuff.

Speaker: 3 p.m., I do not know any of the speakers, so we're going to skip over that.

Speaker: 4 p.m., you've got three options.

Speaker: You've got Nathan Skousen, you've got D&E Battery Tech, and you've got Sales Reps Peak Under the Hood of EPCs.

Speaker: So I know Nathan.

Speaker: I've been following him on social media for a while.

Speaker: This guy knows his stuff.

Speaker: So I would suggest checking out Nathan or the other topic sounds intriguing, Peak Under the Hoods of EPCs.

Speaker: At 5 p.m., we have our one and only two-time podcast guest, Ashton Buswell, who, by the way, was one of the first guests we had on the Solar Printer podcast.

Speaker: So always a pleasure learning from the GOAT, Ashton Buswell, one of the greatest in our industry.

Speaker: Had 30 clothes in February.

Speaker: This guy has a massive referral network and just to this day amazes me how he can just throw deals down.

Speaker: and lead his organization.

Speaker: So definitely going to be checking him out.

Speaker: I would suggest doing the same.

Speaker: And then at night, you got Brandon and Alex Hall, who have both been on the podcast.

Speaker: Great speakers going to talk about their shut the fluff up recruiting.

Speaker: And we'll link to some of these podcast episodes if you want to go preview them, check them out, see if you vibe with them.

Speaker: But anyone that's been on the podcast, you know they're top-notch, would encourage you going to see what they have to say.

Speaker: Seven, we got Jonah Cafferty.

Speaker: Don't know what he's speaking on, but Jonah is a good guy, knows his stuff.

Speaker: Now let's move into day two, Friday.

Speaker: On the main stage, you got Zane Jan, who is CEO of Better Earth.

Speaker: I know a lot of people have gone through his course, his program.

Speaker: I have not personally, but everyone I talk to, this guy knows how to run an organization lead.

Speaker: So I assume it's going to be geared more towards business owners, company owners.

Speaker: So that's probably my thoughts is if you are running a dealer or a company owner, probably a good thing to go learn from this guy.

Speaker: They're all going to be good, but...

Speaker: Just, you know what I mean?

Speaker: Probably more geared towards the owners.

Speaker: And then 10, 1045, you got Andy Elliott again, who again should be fire.

Speaker: This one is going to be really interesting.

Speaker: 1055, you got Hayes Bernard.

Speaker: And he is the guy over at Good Leap, everyone's worst nightmare with dealer fees.

Speaker: I'm just joking.

Speaker: I love Good Leap, even though everyone has higher dealer fees these days.

Speaker: But he's going to be talking about, I think, where the financing is heading, the industry is headed.

Speaker: So definitely some things that you will not want to miss out on.

Speaker: 11.45, you got Scott Hyde, who he runs CODA.

Speaker: I think he is CEO of CODA Energy Group, if I'm not mistaken, an installer out here in California.

Speaker: But what you want to know about him is he is the one behind the creation of Sanobi, which in my opinion is one of the best solar design tools right now.

Speaker: The one thing with it, it's all cells rep designs.

Speaker: You can get on there and literally draw a design in 20 seconds.

Speaker: It's insane how fast.

Speaker: So really great on the cell side.

Speaker: We used it as our company.

Speaker: We did have some issues with cells reps making crappy designs in there.

Speaker: And so that's the one thing.

Speaker: it's not going to be as accurate as like an Aurora tool, but I love the sales aspect of it.

Speaker: It's definitely in my top, probably two solar design tools or softwares that people should have.

Speaker: So I am going to be going to that one.

Speaker: See what Scott Hyde has to say.

Speaker: And then for our afternoon breakout sessions, we got a solar objection championships.

Speaker: And I know a lot of people we had or a few people we've had on the podcast are going to be in these championships.

Speaker: Melissa Romiza, who is, I think, the top female rep right now.

Speaker: No offense, other female reps, but just absolutely crushing it.

Speaker: I know she's taken part in this solar objection championship.

Speaker: So you're going to want to check out her and these other guys.

Speaker: It's crazy.

Speaker: Any objection you throw at them, they have just instant responses.

Speaker: So I would suggest writing these things down, recording them.

Speaker: I don't know if they let us record, but...

Speaker: I'm going to be going and figuring out some more arrows to put in my quiver because that's what we can do is we learn new ways to overcome objections.

Speaker: Then 3 p.m.

Speaker: a few different options here.

Speaker: Me personally, you got Rich Fiola, Serge the Creator, purpose and profit Cody Jefferson.

Speaker: So Rich Fiola, most of us know him.

Speaker: He has been on the podcast.

Speaker: He runs Solar Exclusive.

Speaker: So if you're interested in the solar marketing side of things, great guy to check out.

Speaker: Has built a massive Solar Legion organization.

Speaker: And Serge the creator, he's behind a lot of the top guys on social media.

Speaker: He runs their Instagram pages.

Speaker: So if you're interested in building a brand, that's the one to check out.

Speaker: So that one, I wouldn't necessarily have a recommendation.

Speaker: Just depends on what you're looking to get out of.

Speaker: 4 p.m.

Speaker: You got Life Without Net Metering, Scaling Your Business and Job Scoping with Steve Buckmiller, I believe.

Speaker: So I'm in California.

Speaker: You know I'm going to be going to Life Without Net Metering.

Speaker: And keep in mind, guys, a lot of times there are great things going on out in the exhibitor hall, just having conversations.

Speaker: So my suggestion is you don't necessarily have to get to every one of these.

Speaker: If you don't see one that's calling your attention, then there's

Speaker: A lot of valuable conversations to be had out just networking with others and going to the exhibitors, things like that.

Speaker: So I'm not going to be going to all these myself.

Speaker: So you can come hang with me.

Speaker: I definitely would suggest going out and networking and hanging with other people.

Speaker: And then that evening, you got Jonathan Gibbs and Danny Pesce, both people I know pretty well.

Speaker: Danny Pesce, of course, he's been on the podcast multiple times.

Speaker: And it's just, you know, the...

Speaker: Person that everyone knows in solar and really in door-to-door.

Speaker: But the comedian that we all know and love.

Speaker: Then day three, just to wrap up here, they're calling it Earth Day.

Speaker: Is that actually Earth Day?

Speaker: Maybe it is.

Speaker: But 9 a.m., we're hearing from our friend, the OG door-to-door expert, Sam Taggart.

Speaker: At 9.05 in the morning, Jared Gillespie is after Jonathan Budd.

Speaker: So for me personally, I'm definitely going to be going to check out Sam Taggart.

Speaker: Always a lot to be learned from that guy.

Speaker: And then Brent Attaway, he has also been on the podcast along with Sam Taggart.

Speaker: But if you are trying to uplevel your marketing game or specifically you want to uplevel your CRM that you use for Solar for your leads, I've learned pretty much everything I know about organizing my leads, following up, getting my CRM cranking from Brent.

Speaker: He was my old boss and awesome to see what he's doing.

Speaker: So it was an honor working with him.

Speaker: It's crazy to see what he's doing now in the industry, but he's your go-to guy if you want to learn how to follow up or just get organized.

Speaker: Master the marketing game is what he's calling this presentation.

Speaker: And then last but not least for the breakout sessions on Saturday, our last day, 2 p.m., you got Charles Thompson.

Speaker: You got Jen Silver.

Speaker: You got Solar Jeopardy with Dave Schoenberg.

Speaker: I do not know Charles Thompson.

Speaker: I think he is over at Power for good things about him, but I do not know any of these people in particular.

Speaker: So leave that decision up to you.

Speaker: 3 p.m.

Speaker: You got Understanding Solar's Foundations, ROOFS.

Speaker: Okay, that could be cool, but let's give it a cooler title.

Speaker: If you're going to do a presentation on ROOFS, can you give a cooler title on that?

Speaker: Understanding Solar's Foundation.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: That doesn't sound like the most entertaining presentation, let's be honest, but I'm sure it's good.

Speaker: Then you got Frank Estrada.

Speaker: You got distribution, supply chain, and logistics.

Speaker: So whoever made the titles for this 3 p.m.

Speaker: one, come on, guys.

Speaker: We got to get the titles with some more hooks than that.

Speaker: I'm sure they're good.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: But nothing's really shouting.

Speaker: Let's go check out the 3 PM.

Speaker: 4 PM.

Speaker: You got using social media to brand market and sell more solar.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: I like that.

Speaker: You got recruiting for grownups and then you got building a better quality control solution.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: So yeah, definitely sounds more intriguing.

Speaker: I'll go check out one of those.

Speaker: Hey, and then the main stage sessions to wrap up solar con 2023, you got John Frampton.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: who was running, I believe, all the door-to-door teams over at SolarCity, if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker: And I have heard John Frampton speak.

Speaker: He knows how to lead solar organizations.

Speaker: That one is going to be a great opportunity.

Speaker: speaker he won't want to miss and then bradley to wrap up the entire event a lot of us know bradley he has his podcast dropping bombs he is founder of uh light speed bt which a lot of training programs are hosted on he's spoken at events like grant cardone's 10x con so this guy is entertaining speaker i've seen him come out with cigar cigars in his mouth speaking definitely an entertaining guy that knows his way with sales

Speaker: So that's the event.

Speaker: And hopefully I got you stoked for most of it.

Speaker: I know I bagged on a couple of these, you know, topics, speakers, but I'm trying to keep it real.

Speaker: hopefully entertain you in the process.

Speaker: But all in all, this is going to be an awesome event.

Speaker: I'm excited to go to it.

Speaker: Hoping to see all of you all there and have a great time.

Speaker: Got some great networking events and little after parties going on for almost every, I think every evening they got something going on.

Speaker: So hit me up if you're going to be there.

Speaker: And then next podcast, we are going to be hearing from a referral expert.

Speaker: His name is James Rushing.

Speaker: I have been working with this guy personally for about the last six months to refine my referral system and process.

Speaker: So if you want to hear how to set up your own referral system and really just double or triple the amount of referrals you're getting, make sure you tune in to next week's podcast.

Speaker: You don't want to miss it.

Speaker: Thanks for coming on the show, checking us out, and we'll see you guys next time.
