00:00:00
Speaker
You are listening to the Inverted Creative Podcast. I'm Allison. I'm Brian. And I'm Jen.
00:00:17
Speaker
What's going on, everyone? Welcome to the next episode of the Inverted Creative Podcast, episode 23. We have a great topic for you guys today and truly an expert, in my opinion, on this topic as we do a deep dive into the parks and flags of Scandinavia.
00:00:36
Speaker
Airtime Mike is here to talk about it. Mike, how are you doing?
Airtime Mike's Involvement and GeoGuessr Discussion
00:00:40
Speaker
You know, hey, good evening. Thanks, b Brian, for the introduction. I appreciate that. but Listen, um I just wanted to be on record here and and ah that I was literally second-guessed away from the playoffs.
00:00:54
Speaker
Okay? i like like I was there. i was on the playoffs here. I've been studying the flags. um I'm coming for the belt next year. Let's just put it that way. Bring it. gay Bring it. I'm coming for the belt next year.
00:01:06
Speaker
I am. We chatted a little bit about this last weekend when I saw you, whatever. But, i yeah, I'm coming for the belt. Have it ready for me. you can You can go ahead and shine it up, polish it, whatever you want to do, wear it around. you You earned it. You won. You earned that. But, like, yes, it's time to move on to โ A little bigger waist over here, little tar guy.
00:01:24
Speaker
I don't know about that. i've I've had a rough summer. um um we're we're We'll get to, we're talking GeoGuessr, of course, which Mike was a part of. But yeah, I feel like I've, i've ever since winning, um I've kind of played the heel role and just talked trash to anyone I see in the parks that didn't win, so...
00:01:43
Speaker
Yeah, he got he can kind of called me at King's of Man at lunchtime also, but ah so it's okay. Yeah, so it was funny because you, Zerubre Roll, who I got to meet for the first time, she's amazing, and Taylor were all talking, and I just rolled up like, look at all these GeoGuessr losers.
00:01:59
Speaker
I'm not going to go with loser. I'm just going to go with just didn't win. Just didn't win? Maybe you and Brie, but Taylor is a loser.
00:02:10
Speaker
but Yeah, for sure. Wow. To be fair, I haven't actually even met Mike in person, but I definitely roasted him on Instagram after watching Geocaster. Listen, Allison, like solo so she like hits the boxes up all the time to like tell me how much she's laughing at the episodes that I'm in, apparently.
00:02:27
Speaker
um yeah so so So I like that I'm entertaining by ah by missing things that are obvious. So it's one of the things that I'm working on, and I appreciate you providing the motivation.
00:02:37
Speaker
for me to do my research a little better and go on that. We'll talk about it, I guess, a little later. But thank you for motivating me to be a little better at the GeoGuessr. You got a buddy.
00:02:47
Speaker
You know what I'm saying? Just let know, if I would have gotten the playoffs, all I need is a chance. That's all I needed to get in there. But like I had it. I just, you know. He made a decision. wasn't a good one.
00:02:58
Speaker
It wasn't a good one. but mean I want to see you and Caleb go head-to-head. Well, it depends. Is he going to get any parks outside the U.S. territory? Because getting five USA parks in the preliminaries is not, as I don't think, is so is is a good way to go.
00:03:14
Speaker
And i've I've mentioned this many times to him, how he cheated his way ah to the playoffs. so and like Who can't get all five USA parks? like Are you serious? It's like a layup there. Come on, man.
00:03:25
Speaker
So Riley, and I know he's listening to this too as well too. um When you're ah giving people like Brian, myself here, Taylor, little ah spots that are stamped in a middle of like cornfields with no parks in sight and streets with no signs, think of Caleb i as well too. Go Chikazes, please.
00:03:47
Speaker
Anyway, yeah, that is so true. Man, this is all we're we're ah we're hyping up this tournament next year. It's going to be fantastic.
Podcast Dynamics and Host Changes
00:03:53
Speaker
Oh, I'm excited to come for the championship. Coaster Radness who? I know, no. It's all about Riley now and GeoGuessr.
00:04:01
Speaker
He's actually taking my place, too, on the podcast because I'm out of town for a wedding. And so you'll be listening to Riley. If you guys listen to Coach Kuzi podcast, that'll be debuting tomorrow after this episode. So you'll be listening to Riley. That's so mid is stepping in for me. He's ah he's coming in as I'll be ah attending a coach wedding this weekend.
00:04:21
Speaker
ah So good luck, Riley. It's not easy sitting across from Caleb and his ah poor pains on It's going to interesting.
00:04:31
Speaker
Yeah, that'll be that'll actually be really interesting. That'll be fun to listen to. Yeah. Riley is an awesome, awesome guest. So, yeah, he's killing on YouTube. i don't know if you've seen. oh yeah. I've been watching him too. Amazing.
00:04:42
Speaker
Yeah. yeah He's very entertaining. Yes, is. I love his. I love his ideas and on the way he comes up with his for like his just quirky concepts. It's just different from everybody else on YouTube and it's working out very well for him.
00:04:56
Speaker
Yeah, it's so it's so fun and unique. Yeah, how many of y'all would spend a wheel for like two weeks, not knowing where you're going and then just put like $10,000 in the bank to figure out out like where you got to travel and sleep? Are you serious?
00:05:11
Speaker
Yeah. It's very expensive. It's insane to me. I'm like strategically figuring out where to go to save money and I could never imagine. Also, like the anxiety of it. Like what if you don't get a park that you really want to go to? Exactly.
00:05:26
Speaker
Like... What if you came all this way with like the dream of going to Silver Dollar City from Australia and you just don't get Silver Dollar City the whole time, but you end up at like, I'm not going to diss any parks right now, but like. Eulich Gardens, just say it. Beachwood, I'll say it.
00:05:48
Speaker
Just, yeah. cool I'd be mad. Imagine getting every park in Missouri but Silverdark City. He goes to Six Flags St. Louis and gets a Worlds of Fun, but he can't get Silverdark City.
00:06:01
Speaker
That'd be funny. That would be rough. It's like going to the UK and not getting Thorpe Park. Ooh. Oof. That's true.
00:06:12
Speaker
One of these days i want to just join them and see what happens. One of these Anyway. Good luck. We love Riley.
Roller Coaster Community Insights
00:06:20
Speaker
It's about our time, Mike, today. Our amazing guest.
00:06:26
Speaker
We have a bunch of questions for him. He's going to talk about and what he does in this lovely community that is the rollercoaster enthusiast community. Allison, on here we said, do did we do trivia? Did we do trivia? I forgot.
00:06:42
Speaker
We're doing great. Last week's episode was... i i literally tuned out and left. It was so long.
00:06:52
Speaker
Shout out, McLeod. We love you. Our last three episodes have been our three longest episodes of the podcast.
00:07:00
Speaker
that's a That's great, actually. i did I did do a binge listen the last couple of that last two couple of days, so it's been has's been and very entertaining like listening to you guys on the podcast. It's been very entertaining.
00:07:12
Speaker
Well, thank you. the trip The trip report was actually really awesome when you guys got back. Oh, great. Yeah. Thank you. We try our best. We definitely try our best. Speaking of trip recaps, Allison, shockingly, i don't think you have one, right?
00:07:28
Speaker
I very briefly went to Kings Island. oh yeah you live there. okay Yeah, I know. but We saw um um Hawk and Laurel, and we got to hang out with them. Nathaniel! Me and him got in some really good discussions.
00:07:47
Speaker
Congratulations to you today, yo man. Getting that master's degree. Let's go. i like that one. Oh, yeah! Absolutely. Yes. yes Yeah, call up Nathaniel for all your piano tuning and musician needs. We love that man.
00:08:02
Speaker
He's only slightly blank brain damaged, but doesn't it doesn't affect the music side. Only the roller coaster opinions.
00:08:14
Speaker
Nathaniel, you listening to this? I answered your question that you asked me. It's gonna about the 250-foot item that'll be in your inbox. I just want to put that in there. Cool.
00:08:27
Speaker
Who know what that means? I'm I'm lost. Yeah. I know that. mean, that's it. That's an inside thing between me and him. He'll understand exactly what it is. And then I'm pretty sure and he'll probably spoil it in some kind of drunk story on Instagram at some point he's going through. So it's OK.
00:08:43
Speaker
No, he's going to Were you guys were you guys fans of Nathaniel when he had his own podcast, when he would just go on Instagram live and eat milk and cookies and just wait for people to comment?
00:08:57
Speaker
That's incredible. One time he like read this rollercoaster book someone gave him.
00:09:04
Speaker
Just by himself on Instagram live eating milk and cookies. i love He should read Where the Wild Things Are. Yeah, that he should. um makes It's a pretty solid book. Yeah, we have so many inside jokes in this ah podcast so far.
00:09:18
Speaker
Yeah, I'm still standing behind the fact that I only read it twice. Yeah, nope, definitely not. Anyway. You guys all have trip recaps, though.
00:09:30
Speaker
Yeah, who wants to go first? Uh, you, Jen. Oh, yeah, you know what? I can go first, because I have a pretty good segue. First, Nathaniel, you're the worst. You bailed on our weekend.
00:09:42
Speaker
Wow. okay um he's getting What a man child. Yeah, what a man child. He had a gig, so perfectly understandable. I guess we'll accept it. However, for anyone listening to this who does not know who Chris Ott is, go look up Chris Ott.
00:10:01
Speaker
Chris Ott is fantastic. He does a residence um every summer at Cedar Point where he plays at a stage at Cedar Point for like five or six days. So I drove eight hours to Cedar Point.
00:10:13
Speaker
to I rode like New Millie, Siren's Curse. Millie. Yeah, New Millie, Siren's Curse, Top Thrill Dragster like four times, Top Thrill 2, like four times, and then nothing else because we were at the sandbar.
00:10:36
Speaker
but Watching Chris Hott, his entire set. We were there for like one day and we just watched him the entire time. we were his biggest fans. We yelled, we screamed. We got a new verse in the Cedar Point song. New verse for Siren's Curse. It was great.
00:10:49
Speaker
um It was fantastic. Yeah, we had a great weekend. We did not... I didn't write a single B&M at Cedar Point. That's okay.
00:11:00
Speaker
you not missing much there in the B&M category. I mean, Raptor's nice, but... yeah um i didn't ride any but that's kind of on my trip recap that's really all we did we watched chris out a lot what did you think of top thrill and sirens oh that would probably help i was too excited about chris on um i loved siren's curse same exact reaction i had to nafiana force um What I realized riding Siren's Curse is like, I don't think the Fianna Force had this, but I really liked how unique the feelings of the elements are. And I know I said that part before, but like the tilt's
Cedar Point Ride Experiences
00:11:45
Speaker
That itself, great. But after that, you get a full ride experience. And I feel like On Siren's Curse, most of the elements hit you as you're leaving the element, which is a really weird sensation. like I feel like normally it's going in and during, but the fact that I felt like I was being thrown from my seat more coming out of an inversion than going into it just felt different.
00:12:16
Speaker
Um, like a good kind of different, like I was not expecting it. So I was like, oh, like this is tame. This is fine. And then I was like thrown from my seat coming out of it. Um, so I really liked it. I thought, i think it's like a perfect addition and definitely top five in the park.
00:12:33
Speaker
Um, yeah, fantastic. Top Thrill 2. Top Thrill 2 really, really like. I do. Riding it is absolutely fantastic.
00:12:46
Speaker
It's incredible. I'm still sitting on the hill, though, that I don't think Estrada is worth an hour plus wait. Like, if I had to wait in that full queue for that experience, I would have been a little sad.
00:13:00
Speaker
I think that's fair. It's so short. It's very short. Well, better than what it was, but... It's better than what it was, but it's still so short. um Incredible. A lot of fun. I highly recommend it, but I just can't imagine waiting in that hot... And, like,
00:13:16
Speaker
They put a couple sunshades, but still half the queue is out in the sun. and now you're covered by giant tin sides to like protect you from like that is hot.
00:13:28
Speaker
You're just like in the blistering heat down there. Like it just. Yeah. I don't know if I would wait in full queues for it. But is absolutely incredible.
00:13:41
Speaker
ah I think it's an amazing addition. Perla did a fantastic job. Um, yeah.
00:13:50
Speaker
Hopefully there to stay long-term. Yeah. yeah Also, new Millie, that... Yeah. That, um, I did not think that that lift hill could really make that much of a difference.
00:14:03
Speaker
I blacked out, like, I literally was, like, talking to myself and I was like, please do not pass out. I could not see a single thing until, like, the first tunnel. I was like, how was I this blacked out until the first tunnel? Like...
00:14:17
Speaker
I literally sat there and I'm like, please don't pass out. Don't be that girl. Don't do it. Like, giving myself a pep talk. It was so good. yeah, I definitely grayed out from like the bottom of the first drop until well after the overbank.
00:14:31
Speaker
Yeah, I was like, what? And all I did was change that lip till it's wild. Insane. Yeah.
00:14:43
Speaker
yeah Fantastic. I... have no I have no complaints about my weekend. Yay. I do. I didn't ride Steel Vengeance. If I don't ride Steel Vengeance going to Cedar Point, it's a fantastic weekend. Stop. Stop.
00:15:01
Speaker
Although will say my last ride in Steel Vengeance not the best, but... Yeah, it's because it's not a great coaster. It's a fantastic coaster. Anyway. ah Love you, Jen, but you're wrong. um Okay, i like I see that you like repetition and boring things.
00:15:16
Speaker
Oh my god. Stop. I'm on team Genma for this one. This is great. This is great. Why steal vengeance when twisted timbers? Speaking of Twisted Timbers, that's where I was about 10 days ago.
00:15:31
Speaker
ah um Shout out Coastal Studios Patreon. We had a huge meetup at King's Dominion, ah like 30 people. It was insane. Great time. um Also, side note, I hopped into Busch Gardens Williamsburg when I was there. Got on Big Bad Wolf, the Big Bad Wolf's Revenge, whatever it's called.
00:15:48
Speaker
ah Honestly... Probably my favorite B&M since Pipeline. It's actually really cute and charming. um Did not have, for my in my opinion, any of the rattle issues that some of the other new B&Ms have had.
00:16:03
Speaker
Loved the theming. Really good fit for that park. Really enjoyed it. Now, speaking of another B&M in Virginia, I got on Rapterra for the first time.
Rapterra and Ride Quality Discussions
00:16:16
Speaker
The layout is fantastic. I love what they did with the queue and how the ride just surrounds the queue. you get all these great angles of it. Some great theming in the station.
00:16:27
Speaker
Love the launch. Launch is great. All the rest of that layout was so rattly, though. Why? Why? that That should be at least the second best B&M wing.
00:16:42
Speaker
It should be in debate with Thunderbird. And it's just not. Yeah, it looks fantastic other than the fact that you can watch people's heads rattling in every POV I've seen.
00:16:55
Speaker
I don't even want to, it's not rough, it's just distracting. It's bouncy. Yeah, it's like, I should be enjoying this inversion or, you know, this airtime hill, and it's like, oh, nope, like, oh, that that just got hit with, you know, a jolt.
00:17:10
Speaker
Yeah, like I feel like part of the beauty of a wing coaster is the grace and that completely takes away the grace that you're supposed to have. Correct. Like, not.
00:17:22
Speaker
It's a good coaster. Like I said, I love the layout. I just, you can't, for me, you can't not think about the joltiness. Where do you sit at, Brian, when you rode Where do you sit at?
00:17:34
Speaker
I want to say like row three outside seat. So not like ideal, but it was the only ride I did get it. I only got one ride on it, unfortunately.
00:17:45
Speaker
But what are your thoughts, Mike? yeah Obviously, that that is technically your home park, right? It is my homeboy. I'm like 15, 20 minutes away from Kansas City. Yeah, that's what I thought.
00:17:57
Speaker
No, I've been on... ah think I think I've ridden Raptor like 70 times now. um So outside seats, second row, third row, fourth row can be... if you Especially if you're on the right side.
00:18:10
Speaker
um Definitely bouncing in those positive spots. Launch is okay. the The wing over is fine. But when you get a yeah when you come out of that dive loop and then you do the... just over then you come over the pathway especially that like after the the wing slide when you come down when you get to the bottom of that the bottom of the wing slide when you go into that that like last inverted second last inversion uh yeah like that's got a ah a serious like bouncy jolt to it at that point um Inside seats left side the track track runs runs like glossy smooth So like like ah that's that's that's why seem like where you said it like there there's a major difference between the outside seat and the inside seat ah like when you'd ride it and up another Coaster that you may have ridden the summer and oh, I loved it on the outside see the one I wrote the summer
00:18:57
Speaker
I'm talking about ah some some coaster in Japan. and Yeah, yeah. Loved it. You are too? Okay. Loved it on the outside seat. Okay. In the back row. Loved it. We'll get there. We'll get there.
00:19:09
Speaker
And ah so, but yeah, but if you're, if you're in an inside seat in Reptara, won't feel it as much. As a matter of fact, it runs like pretty, if you, read you'd rather front seat, inside seat, no matter what side you're on, it runs great. You, that the moment you go to an outside seat, there's something with the, I don't think it's the track personally because, um, like you got, like you all here, I've ridden pretty much all the new B and M's.
00:19:29
Speaker
It doesn't have like a friction, like a vibration rattle. It's just bouncy. Um, Your point of about um the big bad wolf, wolf's revenge. um Yeah, I just actually just wrote that for the first time ah a couple of days ago.
00:19:43
Speaker
And um yeah, not yet. Like doesn't have any like ah it's nothing like Phoenix Rising runs like ones like way smoother than other than a month ago. And I was like, I don't even know if i get on again.
00:19:54
Speaker
ah but ah But Big Bad Wolf was fine. ah thought I thought it was fine. I kind of agree with a lot of your takes on it as far as like being a good fit and the theming elements on are really good.
00:20:04
Speaker
Even though it is my second favorite being in Menace State. I mean, my second new favorite being in Menace State. Fair. That's fair. I am willing to give it another shot.
00:20:15
Speaker
Although in future rights, it's been different seats. Yeah, the outside seat is definitely bouncy. ah I agree with that 100%.
00:20:27
Speaker
And then, obviously, i also rode the new theme of Pantherian. It actually literally opened like the night before we were there, which was great timing. Very good timing. Excellent timing. I love what they did with it. It looks beautiful. It fits so well now with Jungle Expedition.
00:20:45
Speaker
um The trains, like they could have done a better job the trains. Yeah, can we talk about the trains? Because that was like... That looks like we ordered it off of Wish.com. You don't like Toothless?
00:20:57
Speaker
you not feeling Toothless in the front of the train trip? You're not feeling Toothless? It's like Honda Civic Toothless. Yeah, like, his eyes are so, like, don't put the eyes on it. Like, do a different theme.
00:21:08
Speaker
Do like Kingda Ka, like, stripes down the back or something. Like, the eyes. I'm scared. I'm hiding under the bed my dog. but No, you're not wrong. Like, you're not wrong. Like, um i'm I'm more concerned about the teeth element that's on the bottom, I guess. I didn't know they were teeth or they were paws. ah So, like, I still i still kind of really don't know what that is. but and I think it's crazy. They have two different designs in the park. So they they have what was what was supposed to be like the Pantherian logo and the name that's supposed to be on a zero car.
00:21:39
Speaker
And then you have whatever they did in the off season ah with the eyes on the thing. I'm hoping that they um the PR department like, you know what? In the off season. We're just going to revamp that and just call that a just kidding thing. we're just going to go ahead and update that in the off-season. Because there's just no way you can just run that coaster looking like that. Especially like, you heard the sound in the station.
00:22:03
Speaker
like There's this like ferocious like sound in the station like as as it dispatches. And then you come back and you see Toothless coming by. You guys know that TikTok sound? No, no, no, no, no. like not ah
00:22:19
Speaker
It's such a good point. oh my Oh my God. That's so funny.
00:22:31
Speaker
Oh my god, but yes, um obviously go back on Twisted Timbers, and as much crap as I just gave Jen about Steel Vengeance, Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers have never been closer in my rankings than they are right now.
00:22:42
Speaker
That was running so freaking good. um Funny story, I want to bring this up real quick. So Mike was in front of me in one of the rides, and just jokingly, just jokingly I said, are you sure your glasses are going to stay on? You're wearing like your sunglasses.
00:22:59
Speaker
i And i so I swear, there was no way the op was an earshot of me saying that. He was on purpose. He did it on purpose. But then the op came by and like, I don't think you can wear those.
00:23:09
Speaker
I'm like, oh, I'm sorry. Even though i know I know she didn't hear me. But it was still funny. You were just manifesting. but yeah he He literally got my glasses kicked off the ride. and then in agreement because it's It's a hot day, by the way. It's blazing hot that day and in and ah in Virginia. it's like I think it's 90 and like sunny outside.
00:23:30
Speaker
and and Everybody knows there's no shade on the brake run. so like I kind of wear the glasses just so just in case the operators aren't the greatest. so ah sometimes that way i'm I'm not sitting here like squinting on the brake run. But like like he purposely like lets think ah let the ride up, though. Hey, by the way, yeah Mike has his shades on.
00:23:47
Speaker
He's not wearing a strap. And I'm like, hey, Mike, what's the word? I'm like, you're the GeoGuessr champion. You should know the answer to this question. I'm like, no, there's no straps.
00:23:59
Speaker
ah But like, no, yeah so they kindly take my glasses and put them on the side in a little box. And I almost left them because um um I was walking out. I'm so glad I grabbed them. But like I was i was going out staring and she's like, you forgot your glasses. like Oh, yeah.
00:24:13
Speaker
I'm supposed to have them on. I'm supposed to have them on. But like, yeah, but right there was like a... Nah. No, it's false. All Brian's fault. It's always my fault. I've riding it all day like that, too, with no problems and no issues.
00:24:27
Speaker
No straps. Yeah, I don't believe in glasses straps either. It's great. and know I know. Tell that to Crazy Bat. Yeah. ah The only ride that's ever taken my glasses is Crazy Bat at Fantasialand.
00:24:41
Speaker
course. Yeah. yeah I tell this all the time on this podcast, but I've lost my glasses on both Iron Gwazi and VelociCoaster, and they've stayed in the train. Now that's impressive.
00:24:54
Speaker
Yeah, and I've gotten them back at the end of the ride. What part of the ride did it come off on Gwazi? That's what I'm worried im muslim curious about. Do you even know? five The wave turn over the station. that whip. Yeah, someone hit them off my head.
00:25:09
Speaker
um Someone hit them off my head and they sat in the bottom of the train. And then on Velocicoaster, it was coming out of the Mosasaurus roll. And we all like watched them. They were like half off the train and we were watching them and we're like yelling. We're like, at this point we were like just invested.
00:25:26
Speaker
and we thought for sure they'd be a goner when you come into the station and they have the little like rushes. And they were there. They stayed. But then a month later, crazy bats got them.
00:25:40
Speaker
Those damn bats. Crazy bats. Rip the glasses. They're so crazy. They're so crazy. They're like, it's really well, though.
00:25:50
Speaker
All right. Sorry. I'm with my derail. Also, grizzly amazing what they've done with it. Holy crap. It's so good now.
00:26:01
Speaker
Yeah. I still didn't ride it. I haven't ridden it ever. Best winter coaster in the Southeast U.S. Oh, Southeast US?
00:26:12
Speaker
East Coast. Really? No, it's not Count Thunderhead. Outside of Thunderhead. Yeah, I was going to say Thunderhead is so good. You can't. From Virginia to Florida, it's the best wooden coaster. don't think that's that hot, actually.
00:26:26
Speaker
that's ah that's I agree with that. Okay. Beats Invader. beats i to think about I had to think about that. yeah Great American Scream Machine. Beats Griller. How dare you? Lightlighting. Mind Blower. Yeah. I feel like the rest of the wooden coasters that you're mentioning are not good. So that's... I'll give a bit.
00:26:44
Speaker
Fair. Fair. So... I don't know. Like, Jen, there's some people out here that got some pain. I put a poll up one day because somebody was in my inbox about that. You know, like, Invader is better than Grizzly. And I put a poll up to just... i didn't I didn't want to, like, embarrass them so I didn't put their name on it. So i was like, you know what? ah let's Let's ask the people. It was like 93 7%. And I was like...
00:27:03
Speaker
and and i and i was like a I don't know what part, like everybody knows how much I hate Invader, but like, but I like like look at my, I don't know what if Invader ride you got or which Grizzly version you rode.
00:27:15
Speaker
Have you been on? And I asked him, have you been on recent and Grizzly? He said, yeah, I rode it like ah two weeks ago. Like then you're, yeah you then your opinion is disqualified moving forward from anything in the coach community moving forward.
00:27:26
Speaker
That's what I told them. But I'm going to put this poll up for you just so I can show you how wrong you are so it's just not me. said to them too. It had 1,610 votes. And go. 93% people said that one's better. Seven. You didn't even get 10%.
00:27:36
Speaker
and here you go ninety three percent people ah said that this one's better seven you'd even get ten percent I just can't imagine Invader beating like anything, really.
00:27:51
Speaker
Disappointment. Invader's underrated, but it's not good. Underrated? Underrated. i'm not underrated. Overhated, should say. Overhated. Overhated. It's just not memorable to me, if I'm being honest. And then it's a wooden coaster, so... Done. I really wish Busch Gardens and Williamsburg would have gotten um Texas Stingray.
00:28:11
Speaker
That would have been great. Oh, man. Oh, that would have been so good for that line. That would have been great. That would have been amazing for that park. yeah but Yeah. Great time, Virginia. Great people. Awesome to see Mike there.
00:28:28
Speaker
i think I think we should, that Mike, you should tell us who you are. What what do you do? Oh, that would have helped. We need a proper intro. Just a summary of intro. like um I don't know. What I do? You do a lot.
00:28:43
Speaker
You really do a lot. Kind of like a jack-of-all-trades, right? So ah I guess introduce, i guess, publicly, i guess, the community on... ah also ryan from um from like back in 2018 or 2017 whatever um maybe one of the first videos is a coach
Coaster Enthusiast Group and Diversity
00:28:59
Speaker
idiot so and used to a lot of recording uh back in the day when the channel was getting started so to enjoy that now not doing that anymore uh like ryan has done enough uh for his channel to be extremely successful without the coach idiots uh but so uh had a lot of fun with that um
00:29:16
Speaker
Let's see your co-host on a kosher, cozy podcast with Mr. Caleb there who me and him are are like salt and pepper. Literally ah like like we have opposite takes on ah on coasters and parks and we just see things differently. And I think it works out perfectly well for that balance of just like ah different in every now and then we may agree on something. But to be fair, most people see things differently than Caleb. Let's just be honest.
00:29:40
Speaker
That's very true. That's very true. I've seen his rankings before. yeah him and and I can say that because i just had a conversation with him, but him and Chris, Airtime Thrills, like just have different varying opinions um like when it comes to things. I had a chat with Chris about his video. He made a YouTube video about Eugenica, and he talking about how X2 is better than Eugenica.
00:30:01
Speaker
And I had to immediately go to his DM and talk to him about that. ah and so And then we talked about Haikuge, because I knew before he even put the video out, I so paused and I said, I bet it's going to be top 10.
00:30:13
Speaker
Uh, cause Chris loves stats. Uh, he loves prime ride time and that kind of stuff, but yeah, Caleb's kind of that way. So our, our podcast works pretty well because we're really different. He's, he's always wrong and I'm always right. So, uh, it's always a good time there.
00:30:27
Speaker
Uh, and then i also invented our, our, well, actually, don I don't like the term inventor. It came up with the concept for the Bluesiest. um Pretty much like a group dedicated to Black Coaster enthusiasts in the community and friends and supporters.
00:30:44
Speaker
um like anybody can Anybody can be a part of it. and so um And that came across back in 2019, actually before ah COVID. um You guys are all part of groups as well. So you guys have been ah all the clubs out there, Buzz Bars or CC or Ace or...
00:31:00
Speaker
or whatever out there. And one of the common treads for me, at least um being coaching enthusiast was I didn't really see people that looked like me um i around there all the time. And so I was like, well, I don't know if there's, i don't even know if people that look like me, even like coaches are even passionate about it. And so ah King's Island trip in 2019 with ah Mr. Darion King and and Rob Trides,
00:31:22
Speaker
um That was like my first time meeting other people that kind of look like me and their content creators as well. And we had a great time. And then ah we had an idea to have a meetup and it got derailed for COVID. But we end up having the first ever meetup in 2021 during Juneteenth. So every year during Juneteenth weekend, either though that weekend, the weekend before or after, we have our annual meetup.
00:31:45
Speaker
um and um And we have a great time. We just celebrated our fourth year over at Busch Gardens Tampa. Had a good job. We had 103 come out. So it went really well. Aranguazi RT. Yeah, it was is really good. and So we'll be at LA next year where we expect there to be a lot more coming to LA. So yeah, we kind of had to almost cap this one sadly. But like ah we'll we'll have more flexibility at the next one going through. yeah.
00:32:15
Speaker
That's always been good, but like ah yeah I'm i'm um um passionate about that, just kind of just giving more ah openness in the community, like just give more diversity among this community. and I feel like everybody has a place, and that way people don't want to look around and and feel like they're not invited or unwelcomed.
00:32:30
Speaker
And so like we have our our motto is building a family culture of diversity. And so everyone is invited. And so like we have a mix of everything. It doesn't matter if you're a male, female, trans, bi, LGBT community, black, white, everyone's invited ah to attend and and be a part of the group. So we ah we will we really, really want to flex diversity ah within our group.
00:32:54
Speaker
That's amazing. Very appreciated in this community. Absolutely. Yeah, i love that. know I met a bunch of you guys at Cedar Point last year during the Coastal Crew event. Sure. And like everyone just amazing and and in your group. like Yeah.
00:33:08
Speaker
Phenomenal people. Yeah, we got to hang out with you too, Jen. got to hang out with you as well. yes got strong you had a good time out there. Yeah, she was there. We had a good time. ah I got to get out. I finally got my Magnum ride with Laurel. So I was like, I had been waiting for that for a little while. And so I finally got to ride Magnum with her.
00:33:23
Speaker
ah So that was, that was really nice. i really, I really enjoyed that. Yes. It's just like a real passion there. I really appreciate that. Which, uh, ah By the way, Magnum is better than Steel Vengeance at the park. Slide that in there real quick.
00:33:37
Speaker
ah Slide that in there real quick. like so I'll give it. um That's fine. I'll accept it. I'll accept it because I can wave at people in the parking lot for Magnum. I'm burning up with that take. o Yeah. I just like that. I'm about to leave this show for the second time in a row.
00:33:53
Speaker
Good ride. It's a great ride. gets better than my ride. It was great.
00:33:58
Speaker
That's who I am and I to have fun. So um that's kind like who I am. I got I got controversial opinions. I'm the certified free spin hater. ah We'll get to that.
00:34:10
Speaker
What else? like I love to travel. ah So um'm I'm like very like, I love traveling. I like to have a good time. And so. um Engaging them and bringing some positivity to this community, man. Like this is a, you know, it's a hobby for us, but it's also, i would call it ah a great escape from real life.
00:34:28
Speaker
um And coaches are a controlled chaos. And so I like to go out there and have a good time and and not think about real life ah for park visit. So yeah until I get back home. So no, I'm thrilled and just, I just love the,
00:34:43
Speaker
You sights of a park, the smell, the the sounds, the way the music works. I nerd out about stuff like that. So, ah big fan. I love it. And so I'm happy to be here, even though there's not really a formal invitation to the commercial community.
00:34:57
Speaker
just glad to be here I love that. So well said. but So very true. Like, I feel the exact same way. Controlled chaos. ah but That's a great way put it. Yeah.
00:35:09
Speaker
Speaking of traveling, I don't know if you wanted to go over real quick. You had a huge trip a few weeks ago, going to lot of parks that I got to experience last year. This is going to on GeoGuessr.
00:35:24
Speaker
I'm rocking the to Tokyo Disney Resort shirt I got on here today. I saw that flex when he first hopped on. yeah and so ah no um'm um um so ah yeah so you know After Allison called me out on the GeoGuessr, I felt like I needed to go out there and experience more parks that are not in United States. ah So No, we had the, um we originally going to be actually, we originally decided to go with the and the group, the big group, and then ah we kind of diverted a little later on.
00:35:54
Speaker
kind of create our own for like a timeline phase and some other things as well but we had a great time um i really wanted to see like i love culture um and so you know going on a going trip is like i don't know there's going to be enough culture days but like we kind of built our own trip uh shout out to garrett gooch uh for putting all that work in for the schedule and everything that he did he did a great job as far as like putting it together And now we had a great time, man. Like I spent two weeks in Japan.
Cultural Experiences in Japan
00:36:20
Speaker
um Got to visit pretty much all the major parks. I got to go see if fine got got I got my bucket list coaster. Got to go ride at Janika. I got to go hang out in Tobo Zoo. What's with?
00:36:33
Speaker
Shibuya Nagoya. So like now that I've been out of the country and ah Riley, i' um I can recognize the Japanese flags. I can see parks because like one one of the one of the disadvantages for me, that yeah i don't think people know this about me.
00:36:48
Speaker
I don't watch POVs of any coaches I've i've ever ridden. So I like to go completely in the blind. It's the same way for parks also. So like any park I've never been to, I don't watch anything about the park at all.
00:36:59
Speaker
So I like to go in 100% blind. And so that's probably why I'm struggling on the GeoGuessr because some of these parts may pop up they I'm like, i I know that park is I've seen reviews and stuff, but I haven't watched any videos of it because I want to be surprised when I walk in.
00:37:17
Speaker
ah So now that I've been to Japan and he had a great time, by the way, we had a really, really good week, man. We had about 10 Belusius with us and some friends and family along with us also as well. And it was great.
00:37:28
Speaker
I will say this, man. Japan was eye opening for me. um Like coming back to the United States was very difficult. ah So like just the culture and how they're and how they just approach life, is just it's different.
00:37:41
Speaker
ah There's a lot of respect, cleanliness, no trash cans, bidets are the standard. um Just the politeness. i don't think i We didn't come across a rude person the entire trip at all.
00:37:55
Speaker
like There was no... backlash or I'm too busy for you or you know it was just everybody was so accommodating the entire trip so I really love that the um only thing I can't really complain to my anything but the heat but that that's not really easy other than that but i don't I don't mind heat so it's okay um and maybe some parks like ride safety guidelines can be a little there could be some complaints could be a little, yeah, it could be a little patience. You know, like I'm um i'm a patient person so I can deal with it. So like ah like I have an understanding of like if I go in somewhere and like, okay, I know they got to go through a safety guideline. I've seen a video on it.
00:38:32
Speaker
um So like I'm um this way I'm not blind to that. I'm like, okay, just just go with it and this is what they do. ah So I can't get mad about it later on. But yeah. No, we had a tremendous time, man. And the culture was really big. Shibuya Crossing, the the famous Shibuya Crossing, the food, Wagyu dinners and the sushi and the ramen bowls.
00:38:55
Speaker
um And the fact that in 7-Eleven, that's so many 7-Elevens. Like 7-Eleven, family marks, and being everywhere. Like literally everywhere. ah Like literally like every single corner. it is it There's a 7-Eleven. If you can't see one, then you're not in Japan anymore. Yeah, this is crazy. So subway systems pretty efficient. Got the ride to Shinkansen. So hit the bullet train a few times. That was awesome.
00:39:20
Speaker
um seeing Mount Fuji and ah and then taking time to just see the culture, you know, like, um you know, stuff from like 1945 and World War II and getting addressed to the history, visiting the castles, ah going out there and participating in the Ninja Cafe and the tea ceremonies and um just kind of getting immersed and lost in the culture. They're like, that was awesome. We had about four or five days of no parks at all. It was just all culture.
00:39:42
Speaker
I was going say, it was fun following you along on social media because one day you're at a park and the next day I see you. I don't if you're wearing kimonos or what the proper term was. You're doing Japan right. Yeah, I didn't want to miss anything out. You just never know when you'll get the opportunity to do something that again.
00:40:00
Speaker
ah so took full advantage of that and ah Now, you know, i'm I'm a little more prepped now when I want to go to Japan for the GeoGuessr for 2026 to get ready to go.
00:40:12
Speaker
And so um and I didn't stop there either. So like I got back from Japan and went straight to Canada. ah So was in the USA for about two days and then went to Canada for a bachelor party ah for the Coastal Idiots. So and that's my first time in Canada. Also, ah two different countries, ah Japan and Canada.
00:40:30
Speaker
Yeah. Two varying countries, not in a bad way. Just ah just two different countries. So japan your first time out of the US? s No, but've I've been out the USA before on cruises, but like that's my first time like ah like flying to another country. Yes, that's my first time like flying to another country.
00:40:49
Speaker
Well, you went to Japan before you went to Canada. Everybody says this to you know, um they're out there and they're asking about like, yeah, I can't believe ah we had a Our friend Alex is there. He's from Great Britain. And now he was talking about that. He's like, I can't believe you went to Japan before you went to like the UK or anyone like, yeah, know. He didn't go to Germany or Europe. but like, I know. He's like, but you came to Japan. I'm like, nobody goes to Japan because everybody goes, you know, where I'm at first. I'm like, I know I'm going there next year. He's like, you kind of doing it backwards. Like, yeah, no, I should probably do China, and Australia next.
00:41:19
Speaker
ah ah Like just to throw it in there. But. No, it I will say this. the Going there as it has ignited a passion. ah So hopefully one day I can go out there and join Jen in Fantasialand and go out there and ride Talon with her. That'd be great.
00:41:38
Speaker
That's that's that's over on the on the bucket list to do now. I can. Get out there and ride Talon with her. So the Talon Queen herself. So I would love to do that. But oh yeah, great. I mean, just I can't say enough good things about Japan. That that was a great experience.
00:41:55
Speaker
I miss it. I miss it really badly. I know Allison and Jen are probably like, when am I going to get it? Well, Jen's at Europa Park too much. but but we We looked at doing Japan for our honeymoon, um but I think we ultimately decided we would rather do Japan with friends.
00:42:12
Speaker
And not the summer. yeah And not in the summer. Yeah, and we would have been the summer. Even when we went in late September, it was still hot. October, November, or like March or April, I think is the Yeah, if we went to Japan, it would have been probably like late March.
00:42:28
Speaker
Or not late March. No, late May. But... Yeah, it still would have been hot, but you know. But we're not doing that, so it doesn't matter. Real quick, Mike, top three in Japan, roller coasters.
00:42:40
Speaker
Top three, I would put Ejunika number one. Number two, i put Flying Dinosaur. And number three, I put Haikuge. I mean, I got Flying Dinosaur one, so... Flying Dinosaur...
00:42:53
Speaker
um Flying Dinosaur is the best B&M I have ever written. That is absolutely phenomenal. i That was the shocker of the entire trip. Yes.
00:43:06
Speaker
I mean, complete shock. Like I said, I don't know anything about the layouts at all. so like um ah So if you if you're listening, you it' it's going to get spoiled for about 20 seconds. But like the the double layout, oh my gosh. And then the drop going into the... It it is just...
00:43:25
Speaker
No wasted elements. It is perfect. It runs smooth. I love aggressive wet roller coasters and the positives. Oh, the way you push your body in there. ah was clapping on the brake run. And it was also the best operated coaster in Japan.
00:43:39
Speaker
um They were running three trains, and I'm talking like they were running like like ah like a well-oiled machine. That line never stopped moving. ah It was awesome. That's especially really nice to hear on a flying coaster because I feel like flying coasters are like โ I feel like you know you're getting five to six-minute dispatches on a flying coaster normally. Not this one. me Crazy.
00:44:04
Speaker
I like to see that it's possible to have good ops on a flying coaster. We just choose not to. Yeah. Jen, there's no state they ah no stacking. ah like like ah like like the like it's the way they The way they run the duels the doubles the dual stations with three trains,
00:44:19
Speaker
it it is a i wish park execs can like go look at that and then bring it to the usa and then understand like what a b&m flyer is supposed to do uh as far like what capacity that thing was yeah crushing it with people uh doesn't stack it uses the doulo station and it has the uh the bins at the bottom so so it's like a perfect system and the greeter that person's like the most important person on the platform i mean the way they were doing the The regular line, the like the the f the quick line, and also the ADA eight all at the same time.
00:44:51
Speaker
um like There's no empty seats. they like they they got it They got a system there and it works. But that ride is absolutely incredible. um And I've never really said about a B&M. I'm not really big on... I like B&M. They just do a lot of the same things. so like So for me, the ride something like a B&M that just does something a little different.
00:45:11
Speaker
And that can just... I'm like, that that's... That reminded me like 90s, like being in when they're just making aggressive like tight roller coasters and they just said 2016. ah Let's bring our flyer back see what we can do.
00:45:23
Speaker
And i don't I got to look it up here to like whoever designed that that layout, because whoever did, you need more work with being and m <unk> like.
00:45:34
Speaker
give that Give that person more work, ah please. but that That was the surprise of the trip. um clapping on um I was clapping before we even got to the break run. yeah That's how good it was. I was like clapping before we even got airtime on a flyer.
00:45:50
Speaker
but like like Come on. It was just yeah it's just nuts. um But oh, it's just so aggressive, man. I love Best B&M and best Intamin in the world theme to Jurassic Park.
00:46:08
Speaker
Yeah. Great ride. God, need that in the United States. Yes, we do. Yeah,
00:46:17
Speaker
yeah that'd be nice. Those are my top three. But I will say, Ultra Twister almost made the list. Oh! i really yeah I love that thing. Oh, okay.
00:46:31
Speaker
I love that. That was so much. I think I wrote that. the i think I wrote Ultra to what's the second most at at ah and Nagashima. So like... i um Man, was So weird. I love that thing, man.
00:46:42
Speaker
It just looks so silly. I love it. It's so weird. It's everything wanted be. It's everything I wanted to be. was like, was like, I don't want it to be. I love the the quirky lip deal of the jank. I love that stuff. I mean, I love that stuff. I just...
00:46:58
Speaker
I mean, we came backwards to the station, spinning. i was like, I love that. I'm like, Togo in its bag. I love that. i like that That was awesome. What a great experience that was. was probably the only one. I think me and Darius went on the trip. I loved Ultra Twister. But I was like, yeah, oh that was great.
00:47:13
Speaker
um So if they want to relocate that one, please bring United States back, too. Oh my god, id imagine that. Didn't they used to have one of them at Great Adventure? Yeah, Toro Station, sadly. Yeah, that's what twenty plus years Was that the one like Viper?
00:47:29
Speaker
was it called Viper or is that different one? That's a good question. not sure what the name was. that I don't remember, but I feel like, yeah, I do remember. and remember watching some video about that. I mean, that's a worthy replacement, though. I mean, like going from an Ultra Twister to an Intimine prefab is is a good way to upgrade your ride lineup.
00:47:46
Speaker
But I would have loved for them taking something else out and move that somewhere else in the park. That would have been great. oh yeah those Those are fun. So Viper was, I think, Toro Station, but that was not the Ultra Twister. That was a total mega coaster.
00:48:02
Speaker
They did have an Ultra Twister that was removed in 1988. There it there it is Okay, I didn't know they had an old Tista too. 88. Wow, 88. Oh my goodness. Then it went to Astroworld, then it went to Six Flags America.
00:48:17
Speaker
Oh, that's back when they were doing the traveling coasters, I think. I didn't realize it was in America. Well, I don't think it ever got built. It it was in storage for four years. Wow. That tracks. Yeah, that's like when they...
00:48:30
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. So, but Viper was also in the tu Toro station too, right? I think so. Yeah. So, um my God, that station's got history.
00:48:41
Speaker
Yeah. It's got some good coasters.
00:48:47
Speaker
All right. Who wants to read the next question? I feel like I've been reading most of them. Thanks, Brian. Appreciate you, man. We got a bunch, Mike. Yeah. So um I am going to be really Honest, I did not realize that you moved into the questions.
00:49:04
Speaker
I thought we were just chatting. i mean when We moved to the agenda. I don't know if we've moved to that. The first one is what all the projects that you have your hands in, which we kind of already touched on.
00:49:16
Speaker
ah So I think Solar Coaster is next. Okay. Okay. um
00:49:25
Speaker
So good. umm I'm an open book, so you can you can just go for it. It's all right. OK. Solar Coaster had asked, how did you become an enthusiast?
Mike's Journey into Coaster Enthusiasm
00:49:35
Speaker
OK, you know, this is this is like a complete circle, actually. um So that just actually just went back to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Fun fact, I've been to Tampa. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is an hour and half for me. I've been to Tampa more time in the last five years than I've been to Williamsburg.
00:49:50
Speaker
I want to come to like Butch Parks. I became an enthusiast when I was a youngster kid. um i wrote, I'm one of the very few people that has the Jorakon Fire credit at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
00:50:02
Speaker
And so I was a little kid. My parents um don't ride roller coasters. Neither is my sister either. And we were doing a trip to Busch Gardens and they were participating in like some of the food and some of the other things in the park that they didn't go look at.
00:50:17
Speaker
And ah I got on Dragonfire and they said, stay here. So I rode Dragonfire. Then I would go ride Big Bad Wolf. Then I'd go back to Dragonfire. Then I would stay on Dragonfire for like an hour and a half straight.
00:50:29
Speaker
And I marathoned it that day. I think I ended up getting like 30 or 40 rides in it. um And like that kind of like ignited like ah like like the inner, like me as a young kid.
00:50:40
Speaker
And um to this day, Dragonfire is still my favorite Looper. It was just ahead of its time. And um had it still been around today, I think people would really appreciate it.
00:50:51
Speaker
ah But back then, people just didn't have the ah the tolerance for an aggressive arrow looper. ah That was what put me um the passion in me. My first coach was Grizzly um as a kid.
00:51:03
Speaker
Almost fell out because used to have buzz bars. ah So it's almost fell out. It was really skinny and short. Barely can get on and almost fell out of Grizzly. And yeah. But no, the dragon and fire, I acc credit to this day is is is making me the enthusiast.
00:51:18
Speaker
ah Just getting that passion and just going through those elements and ripping through that arrow looper and just having so much fun with it and going back and forth between that and Big Bad Wolf really kind of ignited my fire.
00:51:29
Speaker
And I liked it ever since. So, yeah. It's cool that we got Big Bad Wolf, the Wolf's Revenge. It's in the wrong plot of land. ah but But I would have. For like what it is, I agree with what you mentioned earlier. like ah they They did a good job of trying their best to emulate the Arrow Suspended Coaster with the going through the village and the theming elements on-rides portions of it.
00:51:53
Speaker
And presentation wise, I can't say anything bad about it. It looks actually looks actually really well. And it's actually a good ride for like, I think a good stepping stone ride for like ah families. So it's presented way well. I just wish it was somewhere else.
00:52:05
Speaker
So that way they could have ah gave the true homage to dragon and fire in that land. over there behind the Festhouse because you can't see the ride. ah You've been there. You can't see it. like ah If you don't see the Big Bad Wolf sign to the left of the Festhouse, you don't even know there's a kosher back there.
00:52:21
Speaker
ah so Whereas Drakkenfire used to tower over there. You would see the... Yeah, you would see the cutback element going through as well, too, over over the background along with some of the the the loops. And it's just like it was great.
00:52:35
Speaker
It had a presence, the blue track and the steel structure. That's Arrow changing up their format how they designed built roller coasters. It was just great. The new terrain design was different. I loved it.
00:52:45
Speaker
Absolutely loved it. And so I've been going ever since. Super quick side note. I just opened our CDB to look up Dragonfire and guess what my random and roller coaster was? Big Bad Wolf.
00:52:57
Speaker
Town of Dorney Park. Oh my goodness. Town of Dorney Park. Anyway, continuing on my... To actually look at Drakon Fire. I was looking at Drakon Fire too.
00:53:08
Speaker
yeah That's great. Drakon Spire. If only only they built it. If only they built the other ride they had planned there. That be great too. Yeah, no, for sure.
00:53:20
Speaker
So my first visit to Busch Gardens Williamsburg was in 2000. So it was during the time period where it was SPNO, but it hadn't been removed yet. No recollection of seeing it. yeah That's unfortunate. yeah they actually I think they actually tested it in 2000. They were trying to sell it.
00:53:36
Speaker
ah so like ah if you You might have got lucky and might have saw a cycle. I think 1999 or 2000 was the last time they cycled the train where they were trying to sell the ride. ah but that was ah That was very, very sad for me when I couldn't ride it when I went back there.
00:53:52
Speaker
That was very, um sure very sad for me.
00:53:56
Speaker
Then they took the wolf away from me ah um and a little while ago also. Me and Bush guards are beefing. At least for Bolton is phenomenal. I think it's a fun ride. I think it's a really good. I love Bolton.
00:54:10
Speaker
It's a fun ride. 54 million, but it's a fun ride. yeah wow It's i just so unique.
00:54:21
Speaker
The theming's so good. i think it's so fun. It's a good ride. its ah The indoor portion is so underrated. Oh my God. It always catches me off guard every time. Yeah. Pretty good ride.
00:54:32
Speaker
I think it's a fantastic ride. Reusing some of the footers also from for Big Bad Wolf was a good decision. Especially mccon coming off the river. Yeah, was good.
00:54:42
Speaker
It's just so good. So good. but do we know Do you know where we are now, Jen? Yeah, now I know where we're at. She's locked in. Locked in. She is back. All right.
00:54:56
Speaker
How did you get your start on the creative side of coasters?
00:55:01
Speaker
Uh... Let's see here. I have a background, I guess a little bit of it. I went to school, um graduated college with a degree in mechanical engineering. and ah And so so the the information about like rides and stuff I kind of knew.
00:55:16
Speaker
I think having a vibrant personality, It's always good. And I was always ah and a fun fact. You don't really know. I'm a very, very good artist. like I can draw like a like very well.
00:55:27
Speaker
like like I can do photo realistic like portraits of like anybody. if I used to sell them in college um to like ah pay for food. It's like you want to portrait? Hey, sit for like two hours, but I'll put you your picture, man. me just get $20.
00:55:43
Speaker
um It's back when I can get like two for ah two pizzas for $5 at Little Caesars. was great. Those are college days right there. Missed those days. Yeah. i don't know if I missed them Little Caesars days. um days but ah No, so ah actually um I met. ah So it it's what's at Sam's had their media day and um I was invited to media day.
00:56:05
Speaker
Forgot why I was at media, how I got the media day. in the first place. But I got invited to the media day. And um then i at the photo shoot, I met Peter. So, Ski Pete. Congratulations, Pete's getting married this weekend.
00:56:17
Speaker
ah Well, at the time of recording, he's already married. ah So, congratulations to him and Sarah. That's true. We kind of just looked at each other and just kind of looked at each other. is it's It's kind of like those things. You see another enthusiast and you just kind of like, you know, you your head nodded, kind of head nodded. And um We're at the photo shoot. Taylor's there too. You know, he's hit the photo just 2018. He's at the photo shoot also.
00:56:37
Speaker
he's ah He's a, he's there. Baby Taylor. Baby's his baby Taylor. um Fitting in. and And he tells me about, he's like, Hey, do you watch El Toro Ryan? And at the time, i think Ryan had 613 followers,
00:56:53
Speaker
like on his page and And I was like, ah so i I kind of pulled it up, looked at it, and that's how we kind of I got kind of kind connected to that. And then I ended up meeting Ryan like a few weeks later at Bush Gardens Williamsburg.
00:57:05
Speaker
And so that's how we got on that. And then like ah and he like, man, you're entertaining, a lot of fun, and and like ah the personalities mesh very well. And that's kind of how we kind of got a little of bit on the on the YouTube side.
00:57:16
Speaker
And then ah as far as like the like the podcast stuff go, I guess people, um Caleb literally came up out of the blue and was just like, I went on his ah cousin's podcast for like one of his episodes. I think it was a like a trip reporter of a hu report.
00:57:32
Speaker
And he mentioned like how many people like listen to it. He's like that. It was like insane. He said, you had me laughing the entire time. You have these controversial takes. Uh, and he goes like, you're not cookie cutter. I'm like, nah, I'm like, no, I'm just going to me all the time.
00:57:48
Speaker
That's me. i I'm me all the time. And I was like, he's like, yeah, man. So love it, man. Like, how'd you feel like coming and talking? You're playing well. I've seen you on the videos. And, uh, and we chatted about that and we kind of got involved with that. So that, that kind of took off with that. And,
00:58:00
Speaker
um So very happy to be a part of the team over there. um I'm glad we didn't rename it. He wanted to rename it. I'm like, nah, man, just keep it the way it is. that one is well my and you You created, it that's your baby. You know what I mean? i could i could be I could mess up one day. You know this world works, man. You say one wrong thing and you're canceled.
00:58:16
Speaker
ah So they could say one wrong thing one day and like you need to keep your thing going. so Got on my creative side and started filming vlogs for ah for Ryan and um started doing a lot like lot of stuff in the early days, the Coshades stuff. That was fun. And fun fact about the Coshades, man, like I think everyone, almost everyone, went to school for engineering. like almost almost like Almost like everyone.
00:58:41
Speaker
It's kind like an oxymoron, like a Coshades thing. ah But we had like the nerdiest like chats, like our chats are just something i else like to behold on there. And so ah even now that they're just they're they're talking about. It's just it's just wanted of the things to behold. I think Airtime Throws posted guy.
00:58:59
Speaker
some guy got a war of the Guinness World Records for like the most coaches in a week. Oh, pulled that up on my Twitter too. and i'm like yeah Y'all saw that? 55? I'm like, 55? I'm like, what?
00:59:13
Speaker
I'm like, bruh. 55 in a week. They have another record for the most coasters, unique coasters ridden in 24 hours, and it's like 70-some. I know. Like how is 70-some not beating the week?
00:59:29
Speaker
There has to be some other criteria in there that wasn't mentioned, but it has to be. Half the people I know have written more than this in a week. Get the heck out of here. one of those people. I'm pretty sure I just did that. I was just talking to Chris about that. We were talking about that because he was the one I saw that posted his story.
00:59:49
Speaker
But like yeah, we're all talking about that. Everyone's like... ah they like But like this is what we do. Now we're like trying to degrade the Guinness World Records now. Now we're like trying like like like we're literally having a conversation about like how can we take this award from this poor kid like who had nothing to like do with this at all. know like look crap He's probably thinking, and and there's people out here, like you have the GP, they're 55, man, in a week? and I'm just like, it's like three days, man. like he's like like What are you talking about? i like that's that's That's light work.
01:00:21
Speaker
um I'm like, I'm pretty sure every main enthusiast has hit 50 in a week period. At some point it's so in their lives. Without even trying. like, There's some extremists out here, man. who Probably hit like 100 to 200 a week.
01:00:35
Speaker
i'm like i'm i'm um i'm ki I'm dead serious. Ask Mark Martinez. Yeah. Mark's one of those guys, man. Mark's over here trying to get plus ones on a wedding. i mean like that That's Mark. That man has definitely hit more than 55 in a week. I'm more than 20 on it.
01:00:49
Speaker
Mark almost jumped out of the car on the coach like on our on our road trip in 2020 or 2019. The coach's road trip in Texas. And jumped out of a car to get a carnival ride.
01:01:01
Speaker
I'm like, we're in the middle of traffic. And he's like, oh, there's a thing over there, man. Mark is a median and there's highway. He's like, yeah, but like let's let's let's just go see. He looks it up on his phone. He's like, it's $5.
01:01:14
Speaker
He's like, okay, I'm going to go across. And you guys are like, get in the van, Mark. I'm just like, this is who this is. Nobody is more upset with trying to get plus ones than him that I've ever met. Him and Mickey Lovin are crazy, man. like They're crazy.
01:01:28
Speaker
We were in um Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, just that area. And he's like, yo, there's this playground that has a credit. It was like this little like it was like ah this little tiny zipline thing.
01:01:43
Speaker
They actually got out of the car. and like, there's no way this is a credit. What are you doing? I love that man. i as a ago It's on this website. It counts. i know yeah yeah this is there that's what we that's yeah that's That's what we're doing right now, by the way, for this wedding. You're trying to go to like story and and in get credits. During the man's wedding, I'm just like,
01:02:03
Speaker
We're going to go without Peter to go get these credits. I'm like, really? It's just like at this man's wedding to drive an hour and a half to go get go get like four or five credits just because we can. ah So that's that that's what we are. So, yeah, that that's that's kind of how we are. And then, you know, personalities mesh. And like I don't like our group, man. like we have We have a little bit of everything in our group. ah So...
01:02:24
Speaker
ah We got some serious dudes, some funny dudes, some some really, really intelligent guys, some drunks. um it's it's It's just great, man. We got some comedians. We got some credit.
01:02:36
Speaker
ah How do I say this with ah with it being PG? ah We got some credit people that like to go around and get credits without getting paid.
01:02:47
Speaker
That makes sense. kill The WH word. There we go. we go. yeah We got the... Yeah, we'll call... what was It's what Santa Claus says when he comes down the chimney.
01:02:58
Speaker
That works, too. Yeah, so we have some credit those guys in our group, too. ah Very credit-driven. Very credit-driven, yeah. Yeah, so... My yeah it's so my bad.
01:03:13
Speaker
we if We mesh well, man. like We all get along great. um And it's like 24-7. But it's just that it is just that's kind of like how we got involved in this whole like content thing, man. And and then Ryan being the the centerpiece was behind all that.
01:03:27
Speaker
and the guy he listens to the ideas and concepts and um and he'll take advice and he has no problem reaching out i'm saying hey man uh in this bush gardens video man what do you know about this and can you give me this info like sure some research for you and help him out and that kind of stuff also man or 305 uh as he calls me the 305 king he's like and hey what can you tell me about 305 i don't know if anyone's written it more than you i was like probably not Uh, but like, but I'll let you know, I'll let you know anything you need to know about it. Uh, so that's it. Uh, but yeah, other than that, but up but I mean, even prior to that, I was, I was at three Oh five opening day, uh, back in 2010, wrote the second ever train on three Oh five.
01:04:08
Speaker
Um, had a good time watching, uh, Clint Novak covered that thing with, uh, back in the day, uh, watching, uh, YouTube on that time, but, uh, second ever train on that. And, What a ride.
01:04:19
Speaker
um Like the original layout with the with the full turn coming around. Yeah, that was incredible. um the old I would do anything to experience that original turn. Original train. I got the ride ah hypersonic. So that that like so that i was kind of disappointed why I couldn't get on Dota Dampa in Japan.
01:04:38
Speaker
But look at it. ah that That will forever be the most painful miscredit ever. Oh, man. That one bothers me. Like a lot. when i was Especially when was standing looking at the loop. was like, man. I know. I thought it was already going to be gone by the time I got there. And it's like, oh, you're still here. That that hurts.
01:04:55
Speaker
But. Dang. but Yeah, man. our Son of Beast.
The Art of Podcasting vs. YouTube
01:04:58
Speaker
like I've been on Son of Beast. It wasn't that bad, actually. i didn't think I didn't think it was as bad as people would make it out to be. I've got Astroworld credit. um mean so that's all you know i've been yeah I've been going to places for a while um in this world before you know you even being before it was like internet or Twitter or even Instagram or even YouTube out there. so That's back in the day, man. MapQuest it and go find the park and just figure it out. ah you know so Kind of like Geoguessr. That's why you're bad at Geoguessr. Still using MapQuest. Stop.
01:05:30
Speaker
yeah I love the way we both thought the same thing out. Oh, yeah. That's funny. it You know, I have goals this this upcoming season to, like, my goal is, like, try to impress Allison as best as I possibly can. Listen, like, I know I have pressure on me because, like, you know, me and me and and her husband, I have, like, like the same name.
01:05:47
Speaker
And so, like, ah so it's like ah it's it's like a... I have to perform. you know so like I have expectations on there. so I am going to do my best um this offseason when I win.
01:05:59
Speaker
um like In my acceptance speech, you're going to the first person I think. I just want you know ahead of time. I swear one of these days going get your address and just Amazon you a book of flags of the world.
01:06:11
Speaker
Yeah, I really do need that, actually. ah Like, like life for real, I really do need the flag book. Yeah, saying the wrong flags and on the on the yeah YouTube channel while you guys are screaming at me saying, now it's this, what is he doing?
01:06:22
Speaker
I would love to, like, sit there and just watch that one day. Could you put on a webcam or some of that, like, you're watching me on GeoGuess? That'd be great. a live react if you're GeoGuessr. Yeah, that'd be awesome.
01:06:33
Speaker
I'd be down for that. I'd be down to watch that.
01:06:38
Speaker
ah wellll Shout out Caleb. He was the first one I thanked in my acceptance speech because he called that I would win from the start, and he was right. I did pick you, though, in the playoffs. So, like, when the playoffs started, I was like, was like, Mariah's probably going to win. appreciate that.
01:06:52
Speaker
It was close. Everybody was taking Vibe and Mark, and was like, uh... No, Brian's good at the way you decipher like how like how to get to the location. That's the hardest part. it finding like Once you figure out the area, the territory, you can kind of work around that. i'm like, he's really good. ah Have you ever ever driven with a car in a strange place with Taylor Bybee?
01:07:12
Speaker
I didn't trust he was going to win. but yeah
01:07:19
Speaker
Can't say I have that credit. But I'd like to know what that's like. ah The way you're describing it, it sounds like something that's fun. yeah yeah Yeah, I turned to that man and I said, how far until the airport? And he said this amount. And I said, okay, well, the car says we have 70 miles less than that.
01:07:37
Speaker
So have to think about gas. And guess who almost ran out of gas? Because he He can be a we'll figure it out later kind of person. yeah He thought we could make it to the airport. We're like pulling up to a gas station on fumes about to miss our flight.
01:07:54
Speaker
Oh. Oh. get a Oh no. No. No. Yeah. Like I was like we had this conversation an hour ago. Yeah, I knew Bryant was going to win. wow Based on that car ride, she picked you to win.
01:08:10
Speaker
He had, Bybee had no shot. That's hilarious. did want to face him in the finals. No offense to Jake, but... ja did good, man. That would have great. Jake's phenomenal. He's a genius. Jake did great, man. Jake did great.
01:08:23
Speaker
Especially being from Australia. like He doesn't have like the US advantage of like, oh, right we could recognize 40, 50 some parks. He didn't have that advantage, and yet he still killed it. He did well.
01:08:34
Speaker
He did well. go I found a kid's book for the flag. the flag but Oh, I got to lock that in. so so you So I'm a hermit, right? So like once winter gets here, because I hate the cold weather.
01:08:47
Speaker
ah So like once winter kicks in, it starts getting dark at like 4, 35 o'clock. I'm going to start studying flags and start doing my research. That's what I'm going to do. oh That's preparation season right there for January to get here for the tournament starts.
01:09:00
Speaker
I'll be ready to go. Be ready to go. Wait till get a Japan question. That's a lock. It's a lock.
01:09:08
Speaker
I have to send you something at some point. Ooh, a poster. for flags of the world. yeah we go I can do that too. Just put that up on your wall. yeah Every day. I'm going to put that in the office. That's a good idea.
01:09:21
Speaker
has all the countries right under the flags. That way I can cheat. to like I can somewhat cheat. you i'm saying so like I can like be sitting here and like looking up there and like, oh, that flag's right there. He didn't say we can't have a poster on the wall. It's in front of you. That's a good point. i think It's off the camera. Just letting you know.
01:09:38
Speaker
You're on to something, Allison. I appreciate that. Big brain. Rod, you did not hear that. I was kidding. Well, as someone that is also now ah both a YouTuber and a podcaster, apparently. I'm a podcaster. well ah um Do you prefer YouTube or podcasting more?
01:09:55
Speaker
100% podcasting. Okay. ah So like so YouTube is great because, ah you know, like it's like visual. Right. And so like, you you know, you're in the you can cut and edit the entire thing so we can be at a park all day for like, you know, there's a part for like 13 hours and your video might be like 10 minutes.
01:10:13
Speaker
ah So like it it won't really encompass the entire day. Whereas with the podcast, you have the freedom to just speak however you like. um And you have any complete platform also as well outside of just like visually watching it. So, you know, someone can listen to this on the way to work when they're getting off, traveling in a flight, going to sleep, whatever they want to do.
01:10:32
Speaker
But like ah hearing a soothing voice is always an entertaining. And then the the amount of topics you can accomplish also because most YouTubers, you know, this wall are usually in a specific lane. But with a podcast, you can do, you can stay a lane, but you can also branch out to many different varieties and then grow branches off that.
01:10:48
Speaker
And so because of that, a ah flexibility, and I like to be unfiltered also as well. We're PG here. We talked about that earlier. yeah I got you. Yeah, we did. Thank you. welcome So thousand for that yeah, you know, saying like Jen over here saying the D word, man, catch up, man. It was good. I proudly do not have the most amount of beep outs on this podcast. Listen,
01:11:13
Speaker
but I will say, my Europa vlog today, it was for the first time ever, I had to actually ah bleep out when you surprised us. and I noticed that when I watched that. None of them came from you, Jen, to be fair. as It was Megan and I. so I'm getting too good. Yeah. Too good.
01:11:31
Speaker
And that's the other thing about podcasting, right? So like this right here, like being and being able to interact with like multiple people at the same time, you you know, like ah you know something you really can't really do on the YouTube channel, let let you do it on like a live. um But being able to just meet different people and then have the flexibility also to put other people on and then putting a voice to a face because um you guys know this is having social media.
01:11:52
Speaker
There's a lot of times you don't know. ah the one One of my biggest bad pieces I don't know what people look like. And you guys and you guys and cause you guys get approached all the time. But like when people come up to you like, hey, my name is John Coaster417. And I'm like, you pull the profile, it's just nothing but pictures of like everything but him or but them.
01:12:12
Speaker
ah So like I don't know what you look like. I don't know you sound like. I don't even know what you mean. I mean, like you you could say that's you, but it might not be you. ah You know, so... ah But like, you know, podcasting, I like to be able to like talk to engaging people. and I like the ability to like bring on guests or be invited other podcasts such as this one.
01:12:31
Speaker
um And being able to just mesh media. mesh media Don't really have that flexibility on YouTube. YouTube is just great, I think, for like like ah like watching entertainment purposes. And then like vlogging is awesome.
01:12:42
Speaker
I love watching vlogs on YouTube. But man, um I get up in the morning and I put on a podcast and just like listen. And like that could be also something you do daily. um As well as opposed to just you know um uploading a video unless you're you know Taylor's putting videos up every day um That's that's insane.
01:12:59
Speaker
I guess awesome, you know and whatll have What they do over there him and Sarah I'm like good guy every day every day and some help lately. That's awesome Yeah, saw I sort of paul saw the post there for somebody. They're looking for someone for editing. They might have found some people.
01:13:13
Speaker
Yeah, I almost threw my name in the hat. I'm like, oh, I'm pretty familiar with those out how to use that stuff. I'm out of time. but But it's kind of cool. What's the paycheck look like? I don't even know what the check looks like. The check is good. I mean, I'm not expensive, man.
01:13:28
Speaker
yeah Just throw me a meal plan at the parks. Throw me a meal plan. Throw He's valid, though. me get some blue ice cream from Kings Island. I'm going to cookie butter bread of Katie. You know I'm saying? Let me get some cinnamon bread from like Silverado says. That's all right. That's that's what I work for.
01:13:42
Speaker
Every time I walk into a park, Venmo me for a beer. Yeah, exactly. I've been with you on that. See? See that? Jammer, we're here. here. It doesn't cost much for me to edit your videos, man. Just take care of me. um Yeah.
01:13:56
Speaker
ah That way, that's it. but like ah So I enjoy the podcast. you know like um and so I like being spontaneous. I like getting the ah the you know the unquestionable, until what i say the the difficult questions people like to say. Are they uncomfortable?
01:14:11
Speaker
I'm comfortable being uncomfortable. So I like podcasting. I really enjoy podcasting.
01:14:18
Speaker
I definitely enjoy podcasting a lot more than I expected to. great I say being the one who started the podcast. yeah I mean, you could be, I mean, i mean right now you guys, I'm i'm wearing my shirt here, but like you don't even know it like what I'm wearing underneath here. I could have nothing i on here. I'm just sitting in the chair with the with just the Tokyo Disney Reserve shirt on and that's it.
01:14:40
Speaker
And like and like you can get away with that. ah You know what I'm saying? like And be okay. ah you're saying like I like that. Can't do it on YouTube. you know stand like oh Or if if it's raining outside, I see this vlog, it's like, man, camera's wet, man. It's too hot out here. or you know I don't feel like carrying my equipment all day in the park.
01:14:57
Speaker
I gotta put a locker. I gotta i gotta figure out how to get this shot. and I can just talk. It's great. I think it's also more difficult, but it's also simpler. i think it's also it's more difficult but it's also simpler If that makes sense. like it um Very true. No, it makes a lot of sense.
01:15:12
Speaker
Yeah, you definitely, I feel like
01:15:17
Speaker
vocally and personality wise, you really have to be like a little more elevated because you don't have the support of adding in clips and also being animated in your speaking, or not your speaking, your like mannerisms.
01:15:34
Speaker
um You have to be like very entertaining with just your voice. So it's like, Two completely different things because I like podcasting because i have recorded 15 million YouTube videos that I've never edited because I sit down and I start to edit and I say, this is way too much work. i
01:15:54
Speaker
I'm like, no, thank you. i'm I'm just not particularly comfortable in front of the camera. Like I'm always a behind the scenes kind of person. So this is a good chance for me to get my voice out there, but still not be in front of a camera.
01:16:10
Speaker
I think for me, i'm slowly adjusting to being a podcaster. okay I obviously love Allison and Jen. Gun to my head, I think I would still prefer YouTubing. I also think I'm also naturally an introvert.
01:16:24
Speaker
I think it it helps if you are, which I think you also claim you are, Allison, as well, which is... Claim? Or just are. Yes. There's no claiming. I 100% am. So it is, I think, more difficult, at least for me, and I think I hope I'm translating well, to be on for, like, a two-hour period, whereas YouTube, you know, I can shut my mind off for a little bit, and they're like, okay, I'll be on for the minute and a half I've got to talk right now, and then I can shut down again.
01:16:51
Speaker
Yeah. So I think, ah yeah again, it depends. i I definitely like the the freedom of a podcast for sure. That was a great point that you can you know you can just talk about know whatever. It doesn't necessarily have to you know stay in a certain lane.
01:17:06
Speaker
But i i do enjoy โ I mean I do like editing, kind of which I've thankfully found the last two years. and I do like โ there is a freedom of โ okay, we don't have to record. i don't necessarily have to record something every week or every two weeks.
01:17:23
Speaker
So I think, ah you know, depends on the day. Depends on the mood of where who are my mind's at. You know? ah agree with that. I like episodes like this work where we it's this is supposedly a quote-unquote interview episode, but I feel like I'm just talking with friends.
01:17:40
Speaker
Yes. Yes. That's what it is. And you have the flexibility to pivot from whatever to what's working. Literally on the spot. um you know Brian mentioned him being an in... Really?
01:17:59
Speaker
Introvert. It's introvert. I'm an introvert. That's not true. know That's a lie. but like i tried not i tried I tried that. so You didn't see this when we were at Kings Dominion. I'm sitting there. I'm talking to um ah Demetrius ah from Demetrius Adventure. oh yeah and ah and he and he' He's talking about like how he's an introvert. He's like,
01:18:20
Speaker
Man, it's just ah man it's just ah it's tough out here, man. like exactly I don't know how you do it, man. I think somebody walked by. You know what I love about Taylor being in the park? I like the fact that I had less people coming up to me. It was awesome. They would just beeline it right to Taylor. It was great. It was awesome. It's terrible there. It's like an enthusiast park, for real. Those situations where we're walking out, and he's like, someone's like,
01:18:49
Speaker
Airtime Mike! Oh my god, it's him! And Demetrius like, oh my god, how are you going to handle this, man? I'm like, just talk to him. And and yeah and he's like he's just kind of like adjusting to i kind of think like the way dude dude the way you handle that, man. The way the goo just came up there and dabs you up. And you're just like, what's up? And what's going on? And he's like, the way you're just on your feet. He goes, I've got to learn how to do that. I'm like...
01:19:08
Speaker
Nah, it's got to be you. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's me. know I'm saying? Like, just me being me. But you, that might not be your style. You might be someone might say, like, Dimitri, what's up? And you might be like, hey, you know, you might give him a hug.
01:19:21
Speaker
Or you might just say, hey, I'm good. ah You might just wave. You say, like, whatever works for you. Like, you don't have to be a specific type of way. just like whatever, like, you know, comes to that platform. um But I was like, yeah, me being a ah very outwardly extrovert, I'm ah um' ah um' a bit of a... I'm different. I pretty much...
01:19:41
Speaker
There's not much I won't do. ah so so so Alexa, like, yeah, that's me. I've skydived, I've bunny jumped, I've jumped off cliffs. and like like I'm like, there's not much I'm not going to do. i'm like like, I'm a Thrill Seeker, man. and like I love like a challenge of like something new.
01:19:57
Speaker
and So like that that that's stuff doesn't bother me. He's like, cool. But some people, man, are like, don't know I can do that or not. It's like,
Social Dynamics and Community Events
01:20:03
Speaker
cool. But I like the fact that um this podcasting here, introverts, right?
01:20:09
Speaker
You know, people who, like you as you might call yourself an introvert, or I'm going to call you inverted. um But Mike, come on here and feel more comfortable. This is the inverted creative podcast. we are all. Yeah, you did inverted creative. We're all thinking and inverted here. We are. Can't spell introvert without invert, right? Can't without saying talent at Dorney Park. Exactly. That's what I've been trying to say.
01:20:33
Speaker
It all goes back to talent. All goes back to talent. And the claws. You got dig your claws in there. and yeah It's the grip of fear. ah You got grip it there. ah So, like, no, I just... No, it's great. um I think... And I like the flexibility of YouTube that you mentioned. I like the flexibility. You can just go back and edit however you want.
01:20:49
Speaker
And you can take things and make basically, like, make a movie and be creative with it. So, I actually do value the creativity. I just... The opposite of you, Brian. That editing process is like a a process.
01:21:02
Speaker
I'm a perfectionist. So like I'm on like a perfectionist. So like I can't do it ah like quickly. um I gave Allison kudos, man, for like how quickly she made the little ah the promo. And I'm like, that would have taken me like a week because I'm just so this has got to be here. That's got a you know what?
01:21:22
Speaker
Is there a better way to do it? Like like that's how my brain works. And so, um you know, just like click it out that quick. ah I admire that from like the way you do that. That's incredible. To be fair, Jen yells at me constantly, like, are you ever not working?
01:21:35
Speaker
I'm like, no, not really. I'm a workaholic. That's my problem. No, there's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, and I know that lifestyle. That's cool. That's cool. I should say I'm a workaholic outside of work. So, like, all of my creative projects on the side. oh no. Oh, no. Oh, no. I can shut that down. Oh, no.
01:21:53
Speaker
Oh, no. I mean, I get that. that I value that that. That's great. But ah oh, no, no, no. Like once I go, she'll ask me all the time. She's like, how was your day at work? I'm like, it's over.
01:22:07
Speaker
And that's how that's how that's how we can continue the conversation. He's like, well, I already did that. That's that's over with. Like, ah that's a means to an end. I said, I said, we're here now. ala We're here now.
01:22:18
Speaker
That's done with. I'm still employed. He's like, OK.
01:22:24
Speaker
yeah I don't know. The editing process to me 15,000 videos, man. yeah I'd like to see some of that content, though, that you got sitting there in that vault.
01:22:38
Speaker
Can we see some? Oh, there's some good stuff. Yeah. There's some good stuff. I recorded it a whole entire video, Coaster 365 style of a review of some kitty coaster at Dorney Park.
01:22:51
Speaker
Oh yeah. Jesus. It was supposed to be for Brian's birthday or something. It was over two years ago at this point. Yeah. Also, I have like three or four vlogs from Hershey and Dorney that I've just never done anything.
01:23:04
Speaker
I have videos where i was making fun of sarah and taylor at hershey that was supposed to go into a vlog and i now just have clips making fun i do have a clip of taylor calling me daddy because of that oh my god it's true forgot about that yeah i do um that was also the first time i ever got brian to have a decent amount of alcohol and then made him ride a kiddie coaster with me we filmed that day Yeah. Oh, jeez.
01:23:30
Speaker
Oh, that's the one that needs to come out of the hole. No, didn't film that much because, and also we weren't drinking in the park, so like we had a pretty, we were like feeling pretty good, went straight to the like 45 minute wait on Cocoa Cruiser.
01:23:45
Speaker
Wow. Cocoa Cruiser, 45. Oh, yeah. has a Very famous. yeah Yeah. That's a day. i that There's a day right there. There's a day right there. Yeah.
01:23:56
Speaker
Yeah. But Taylor called me daddy. Ooh. I post it for his birthday every couple of years. So maybe it'll come out again. I'd love to hear Taylor call you daddy.
01:24:07
Speaker
That'd be great. Taylor's called me daddy a lot. I'm coming to cruise. and yeah Actually, the only person that I have not been able to get to call me daddy, like the only person, is Mark Martinez.
01:24:20
Speaker
He will not call me daddy, no matter how much I try. I'm going to work on that for you this weekend. ah There we go. i See, like see like that that's ah that's a new project for me now. Now I've got something to do. yeah and now i Now I've got full engagement for like when I ah fly in tomorrow. I'm like oh on a mission here to get something done by the end of the and by end of the weekend here If you can do it, I've been trying since like 2021 and that man will not call me daddy. Work my magic here.
01:24:46
Speaker
That's when you just get a bunch of different clips of like just saying all the different words and then splicing it all together into one. got some All right. We might have to do that. I literally like I had this really big DVC room and we were like all hanging out for my birthday and like hanging out at the resort and stuff.
01:25:03
Speaker
And I literally sat at the door and I was like, you are not coming into this resort until you call me daddy. And he had someone unlock the other door to the room and just came in the back way. and he's stubborn with this. This is even better. I'm enjoying this now.
01:25:19
Speaker
Yeah, so that's the only man I've never been able to get to call me daddy. Well, the only person. I'm excited. a guys I don't know how we got onto my... um I don't know how we got onto my daddy...
01:25:33
Speaker
I have no idea. we should ask the next question. Oh, because of my... We're already at an hour and a half. Yeah, I still have a lot. Alright, so... um I know we talked about Bluesiest Community a bit, but what do you find to be the most rewarding part?
01:25:47
Speaker
Um... I think just la just getting everybody in together and um and for us, honestly, just not getting stereotyped and and people just kind looking us and having a good time. and I just love the fact that everybody just has a good time.
01:26:01
Speaker
They don't know this, but every single Belousius event that I go to, I always step aside and I film a video of the group just having a good time. um And like um and that's kind of like why I envision just like everybody engaging, everybody getting together, everybody having fun, everybody enjoying everybody's company. It's like a giant family.
01:26:21
Speaker
um And, you know, we've got a lot of people that have done it um multiple times. So my gratification is just, you know, we get to the park, have a good time, everybody vibe with each other. It's always good energy.
01:26:32
Speaker
um We haven't had a single like issue, which is which we're... i mean, knock on wood. ah But we haven't had a single like issue at any of our meetups. like na No drama, no fighting, no I don't like you or I'm not vibing with this. but it's just It's always just a great day.
01:26:49
Speaker
and um And these days are like kind of turning. like We have our main event for our day, but then we also have our sub days. um But like the the whole weekend is just... glossy, smooth, and it just works.
01:27:00
Speaker
um in a And I'm very, um' um um I'm thankful for that, especially for others who, you know, say like who didn't know that, ah you know, the people like us to like ride and every year we get new people. um And it as it grows, um who just, it's like, you know, and I didn't think it's something that people did. And it's like, and they just start talking to each other and start rocking out. So ah no, we're we're we're very happy with the progress of it. And I just get for a vacation, just stepping back and just observing like everybody having a good time.
01:27:33
Speaker
Oh, I love that. I got to make it out to any else events. Yeah, come out to LA next year. Just casually go to LA next year. Yeah, come out to LA. It'll be the end of June. Yeah, come out to LA.
01:27:46
Speaker
We don't know what we're going to do yet. One thing about us, we vote on everything. We have our leadership team that I have, but we all vote as a whole unit.
01:28:00
Speaker
What do you guys want to do? and so I put it their hands. I think right now we're trying to work on Ghost Rider Night ERT um at Nuts. um it It's what is one of the things that we're trying to do and then we're also talking Universal for Fast and Furious. so so it works so works so it's true So we're trying to do both of those things ah for next year.
01:28:26
Speaker
that is it i always forget that's happening. That thing looks sick. Yeah. It still looks fun.
01:28:35
Speaker
Timing wise, I don't think I'd be able to make that if ah things line up for me. so Oh yeah. and you get you you home money i mean next year It's just a wedding. i mean know It's nothing.
01:28:47
Speaker
Nothing important. Nothing too big. Married. another You know, a wedding and a honeymoon. yeah and know Something like that.
Planning International Theme Park Trips
01:28:54
Speaker
Nothing crazy. Alright, it's time to go to our listener questions finally. a few here. First one.
01:29:06
Speaker
um mom mom um mom la la mom mom um la um um um la la um love Obviously, we talked about Japan a little bit. You mentioned Canada. What are some of your other, or i guess your current bucket list international parks and coasters? ah Places that you guys have already been to. So, Europa Park, Fantasialand, Fondation.
01:29:27
Speaker
I want to get out there. I want to go man in New Zealandia. Um, like, like these are places that I really, really want to get out to. um you're just listing Brian's trip. He just did. Yeah, basically, you know, like, uh, like that Germany, that, but like that Germany leg looks like really impressive.
01:29:44
Speaker
Um, That I like, you know, we were out there, we had and Japan and Alice was trying to like actually trying to help build the trip for us. And I think Germany is like a, it's like a good way to like do a trip out there. I'm looking I think that's going to be.
01:29:59
Speaker
Probably like number number one or number two on there. But like, yeah, definitely want to go to Fantasian Land and go see what that's all about and check out some of those awesome, ah some and some of those launched Intimins and Vekomas they got coming out there. So, and then I hear great things about your park all the time. So those two are definitely high on my list.
01:30:22
Speaker
yeah If you make it to the Netherlands, circle back. I have some Dutch to teach you. oh Not again. I'm welcome. I'm open to this. Please teach me.
01:30:33
Speaker
Don't listen to her. I am your student. Do not trust her. i would that Sarah trusted me too. You should ask her how that turned out.
01:30:45
Speaker
Yeah, that the that Netherlands, Belgium, Germany like loop that could potentially be done well, you want multiple days, but you could do it in a good eight, nine day trip and get a lot of good parks and coasters. There's a lot of parks in there that really deserve multiple days. I feel like Europa Park, you really need two to three days. Europa, Fantasia, Efteling, those are your multiple parks for sure.
01:31:08
Speaker
Yeah, Efteling is like like that little diamond erupt also that people people love also as well. Yeah, it's like not at all from my I don't know yet. I don't know for three more weeks, but like not at all coaster lineup park. It's farm park.
01:31:25
Speaker
If you're a pure enthusiast, you don't care about like your Disney's and a Universal's like it's a one day park probably. But if you enjoy a theme park, then it's two days for sure. Okay, that's actually good information to know. okay
01:31:40
Speaker
Yeah. Fantastic. All right. Next, we have Ethan. He says, what are your biggest tips for international trips? oh Well, i just took my first one. i would say this. We did a ah we did ah information. Is there anything? Like preparation before we go.
01:31:57
Speaker
So like we had Zoom calls. we did um We bought all of our stuff ahead of time. Um, and we booked all the rooms. We got all the park tickets. We just didn't, we just didn't put days on them.
01:32:08
Speaker
Um, we got that ahead of time. We got a travel situated, but we mapped out like, how are we, how are we going to travel the whole planet? Um, hold the whole, the whole planet, the whole like a Island. And then we also mapped up a backup plan.
01:32:20
Speaker
Uh, and like, just in case like something happens also as well. So we had a, like, if we had rain days, we had somewhere to go. um if we had, If we couldn't take the train somewhere, we had we learned a bus route.
01:32:32
Speaker
i' So I'd say like preparation um as far as like what you want to do, where you want to go, and then having a backup plan. um' um ah I'm one of those kind of people like the โ you talked about Taylor earlier about like just winging it in the car to get to the airport. i'm the i'm the I'm the flight takes off at 4 o'clock. we need to be there at 1.
01:32:50
Speaker
ah Like that's You know, I was like, ah get up at 10. don't get up at eight o'clock, be on the whatever. Got to make sure we get there like an hour early. um Primary thing is to get home.
01:33:01
Speaker
ah like so like Like that's me. And so I would say like that's preparation number one. And then ah go with friends. um like like like like it's Like people you trust and you know, like go with them because like that's going to make your experience so much better.
01:33:15
Speaker
And then just and when you get there, Do some things that's just not an itinerary. Just go out there and explore. We had some days we had an itinerary. were like, screw that itinerary, man. Let's just go and explore.
01:33:26
Speaker
And that worked out. Sometimes that worked out better.
01:33:31
Speaker
I love exploration days. Especially like just cities that you never thought you'd get to. Or you're just like, wait, why are we here? we ended up in like a Antwerp in Belgium for a night.
01:33:42
Speaker
which is nothing to do. So we just walked around the city until 2 a.m. m Highly recommend. Highly recommend. 2 a.m. walkthroughs, Belgium. That actually sounds great, actually. not going lie. Unless sound like something do.
01:33:56
Speaker
have to come out the next that next Buzz Bars trip. I got to get on one. I got to get on one of those trips. Even though I'm not really a big drinker, I got to come on one of those trips. um And then like hearing Jen talk about ah Bryant there and not getting a night drinking. So like he's go that's going to be another priority for the crew. So I'm adding to my list of things to do.
01:34:13
Speaker
So I've got the Buzz Bar Strip. got Mark Martinez saying daddy. And I've got Brian getting some kind of drinks on the boat. ah So I've got list. You're getting a good old bucket list going right now. I'm task oriented. I got list. You got your homework. You don't drink that much too you you ever make it to um If you make it to Europa Park next year, also add to your bucket list. This is just a need. You need to drink a liter beer.
01:34:42
Speaker
On Josefina. On Josefina. Okay. On Josefina. Yeah. So. It's a delightful boat ride. Looking forward to it. don't Okay. Very peaceful. The best experience in the park. Like, forget Voltron.
01:34:53
Speaker
That would make fun. Like, I'm so serious. she's Between the basement dino ride and Josefina's with a beer? Who needs Voltron? I can see the intensity in her face. She's like, real.
01:35:04
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Yeah. I'm so serious. Plus, I hear the ride opposite Voltron are lacking. The worst. Yeah, the random Dutchman way. Totally the worst.
01:35:17
Speaker
The random Dutchman. The random Dutchman, yeah. He really doesn't find me entertaining when I call that either. And it's constant. I call him it like every two seconds.
01:35:30
Speaker
I think I need- do I need to mute ah you guys for this next question? Oh, no. What's happening? i was going to say. what um Just trying to avoid too many spoilers. I know had a ah an epic day recently. And ah Mr. King Park asked for tips for Epic Universe. Oh, i don't have to spoil that. Okay, that's fine.
01:35:51
Speaker
um Yeah, was going to without spoiling it for two people who
Epic Universe Visit Strategies
01:35:54
Speaker
have not been there yet. Okay. Epic Universe is a great place to go. i would I would say with Epic Universe, just... um
01:36:06
Speaker
You have to play it by ear. ah so That's the best way I can say it for it. like you can't but You can't really plan the day. It doesn't matter if you go to if you want to go to a specific land because it might be slow one day and it might be busy the other. I've been in Epic Universe three times now and every time I've gone it's been different.
01:36:21
Speaker
like ah I thought one land would be busy and it wasn't. It was dead. ah Then I went one day, the whole park was absolutely just slammed. um But then like the...
01:36:33
Speaker
Monsters was the longest way of the day. um And then one day, Stardust Racers was a walk-on for the first hour and a half of the day, and we just stayed there. so ah So I would just say, just kind of play it by ear and when you go there.
01:36:45
Speaker
And um whenever you see something that has a low weight, go get it immediately, as soon as you can. um Single Rider Line is probably your best solution also as well when it comes to Mind Cart Madness.
01:36:57
Speaker
um I would say that is probably the best way to go. And I would also say... It's good to know people. Um, I, I, I, I'm having a hard time like giving advice on this because my last visit was like one of the best days I've had like a, out of park only because literally every time I went to a line, I knew someone in a line that worked there and they gave us like the access VIP, like come this way.
01:37:24
Speaker
Um, That was awesome. ah So like I don't think we waited for anything on Epic Universe on my last visit. So I haven't walked all the queue lines yet. still like still like still like Still kind of waiting for it. It was just an incredible time.
01:37:44
Speaker
I mean, all the food's good. i mean like ah so like like ah we All the food's good. i mean like there's There's not a bad place to eat. There's no shade in the park. so that's That's advice. so bring like Bring a hat. Bring lots of water. there's That's the only flaw of the park. there's no shade.
01:37:57
Speaker
ah but it's ah it's ah It's a good park. It's fun. and Just get both sides of Stardust Racers. Try to get Curse Werewolf if you can, early as possible. If it's if it's available, if if some um if it's under 45 minutes, run to it.
01:38:16
Speaker
Don't worry about minecart madness at all throughout the entire day. And at some point, ministry goes down into the day. ah so That's the best way to say it. I mean, like not go down with the line. The line goes down.
01:38:26
Speaker
um So like around 8 o'clock. and I mean, it probably goes down too. Yeah, yeah. It went down. i've I've written it twice and it's three times now and it's went down every single time. ah So while I've been on a ride. it goes down. That's some...
01:38:44
Speaker
I'm going to... park is open. Stardust an hour after the park closes. so If you want to get night rides on Stardust, just wait until the of the day. today um Park closes, then Stardust stays open hour after the park closes.
01:38:57
Speaker
ah so um but just like To get in line yeah an hour? you can wait like ah If the park closes at 9 o'clock, Stardust Racers will not close this line off until 10 o'clock. Really? yeah That's interesting.
01:39:09
Speaker
Yeah. It's the only ride like that. i know I don't think many people know that, but if they're listening to this, they're going to find out. ah But yeah yeah but like yeah, you don't have to run the Stardust at night. Just wait until like 9.45. The park goes at 9 o'clock.
01:39:22
Speaker
When everybody leaves the park, just go to Stardust Racer like 9.30 and you can get like six or four or five rides on it. Oh, that's sick. Yeah. I will say it's not officially booked yet, but I have dates finally.
01:39:36
Speaker
You have something penciled in ah If you're going to go this year, good luck. I mean, like this year is cool. Like I can, I'm trying to month from today. I'm trying to be honest with the park. it's I don't think the park is ready to be open right now, personally. I don't think it's ready to be open, fully operational.
01:39:53
Speaker
ah So like you kind of have patience with the park. So just have patience. for Probably my my my last tip. Just be patient with the park. like this yeah its we do We're going to this. you can see you can see You can see the vision of the park. It's it's it's an impressive looking park. I mean, like... um the The word of the day, my girl, she's like, she kept saying spensive like all day. She's like, everything here looks spensive. Like, yeah, it looks good.
01:40:16
Speaker
It does. It's like everything. it's It's just it just looks great. And if you can stay there for night, the night atmosphere, if you're allowed to, yeah is just on on a different level. It's just that night, night. ah just That park is built around at night.
01:40:30
Speaker
Yeah. That like kind of solidifies why I'm not going this year. I just feel like it's I feel like it needs some time. Yeah, yeah. If I if i weren't if i weren't like a ah diehard coach or anything like we all are, um I would have waited until 2026. I A GP visit right now is probably not a good thing for them.
01:40:52
Speaker
I'm just tired of avoiding spoilers. I just i need i need to do it. and so um the kid I also realized I lied because I do have ah time frame for Epic this year. There you go We're all going. But not by choice.
01:41:07
Speaker
It's for someone's birthday. So it's like, I'm going to go because I love that person and it's their birthday. But if it were by choice, I'd be going next year. Yeah. I would have waited, but like god man i like I said, just I'm very thankful for um you know what the platforms of ah have have given me like to say as far as offered me. so you know like so like Knowing people in this world is is ah is there a strong thing um that I've learned in this culture community. like Knowing the right people, or just knowing people, and just being nice to people.
01:41:35
Speaker
Like I said, we went to Epic and for Blues' event the day out there. and Didn't have to wait for anything. It had no express because have express yet. But the fact is I kept seeing people that I've seen over years.
01:41:47
Speaker
um I saw a guy, he he hadn' he he was he was at the very first Bluesers event. He came out there and he just happens to be working Curse of the Werewolf. And he's like, So Mike's like, what's up?
01:41:58
Speaker
It's like, how much in groups? Like, Hey, it's like, come this way. It's like, go just drop. We just missed a whole hour and a half. It's great. ah So I, so, so I just say, just always be nice to people, man. It doesn't take anything to be good to people, man. So you just, you just never know like when that can just benefit you later on in the best way.
01:42:17
Speaker
Um, But have a great time, man. I think the park is awesome, personally. um I think it's great. I think it's a great place to visit. just If you're a general public person, I'm sorry what you've been going through. Because just I can't imagine those four-hour waits for ministry. Yeah, I don't want to try to avoid that. Two hours on mine cart and you've gone. You spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to ride like three things the whole day.
01:42:40
Speaker
That's tough. Absolutely not. That's tough. That's tough. That's tough. Yeah, i'm I'm very excited. like i ran My gauntlet of the summer is officially over, so that's like my one...
01:42:52
Speaker
only real you know trip for the rest of the year. so Well, if you're like me, Brian, I went in blind, so I didn't know anything about the park or no POVs. You have no idea how phenomenal. Spoiler-free I've been. I haven't even watched POV of Stardust like I do. man i didn't i was I slept on Stardust. I promise you that. like I did not think it was going to be that good. like I did not think. That's the best coaster I've ridden this year.
01:43:18
Speaker
At all, while even Japan. on diplomama Malcolm Malcolm Vekoma. This is definitely Mox here. Time to shine. Like, Intamin and B&M step back. Take a seat.
01:43:30
Speaker
Oh, my God. Oh, my goodness. We have a chatty little Talon cat. Yeah, that means debut, like, vocally anyway. i think Yeah, I think so. oh I don't normally leave my door open while recording.
01:43:43
Speaker
thats He came to say hi, and then I held him, and he doesn't like being held. so ah He's not happy. All right, these last five questions I think we can rip through pretty quickly. Ryan F. asks, what is your most rides in a day on Twisted Timbers?
Coaster Preferences and Critiques
01:44:02
Speaker
think I've been on 73 Kings Dominion rides in my life.
01:44:06
Speaker
That's not even i'm most ridden kosher at the park in a day. Yeah, I would say like 73. Got 86 on 305. got eighty six on three oh five And it would have been a hundred. insane Yeah, it would have been a hundred and more had my friend not wanted to leave at six.
01:44:19
Speaker
And the part was open until ten. How did you not die? ah Oh my god. I've ridden that thing like almost. don't know. stopped counting to ten thousand. That was like four or five years ago. So I don't i don't even know what the number is now.
01:44:31
Speaker
I think tailor beat easily. in My goodness. Well, you like Kings Dominion. Yeah, like my home park, man. I'm kind of spoiled. yeah like like I like my home park.
01:44:44
Speaker
Oh my goodness. All right. Well, brings us into an opposite end here. um K.W. Hurley, I don't know if that's right, but we're going with it.
01:44:56
Speaker
They asked what your least favorite coaster is.
01:45:00
Speaker
Oh, man. Currently or defunct? So ah I guess I could get both. my um The worst one I didn't like was Goliath in New England. ah That was the worst thing I ever read in my entire life. ah Like to the point where I almost broke my back. right about everything Literally almost broke my back on that ride and had to get helped off.
01:45:20
Speaker
I've never in my life experienced anything like that. That was crazy. that was Awful. um Never again. i think it's the only coaster I've ever been on like once.
01:45:31
Speaker
and was like I will never ride it ever again. ah so I had a party when they ah when he when he took it apart in Strap Metal. I was having a home party here. yeah Current worst coaster?
01:45:44
Speaker
i don't know if I have a specific coaster that I really just don't like. um I just don't like free spins. ah but ah but As far as a specific ride... I think, so man, I'm not sure. think it's think it right now I don't like free spins, but I'd probably say, man, any kind of coma SLC, like all old school become SLCs.
01:46:05
Speaker
They're not good. No, they're not good.
01:46:10
Speaker
We should skip the next question and go to ah the last two after that the comment. Yeah.
01:46:18
Speaker
Yeah. Yep. So Paul said, ah what started your justified hate of SNS s and s frees spins? And out of all the ones that you have ridden, which one is the worst? Wow.
01:46:32
Speaker
I don't think I've ever told this story. This will be quick. So my first free spin ever rode was a great adventure, Joker. um I rode the ride. I got off. And I didn't know. i didn' I had a weird feeling. I was with one of my friends.
01:46:46
Speaker
And I said, let's go ride again. So I rode again. Got off. And said, need one more ride on it. And so I rode again. he's like like it's like It's like a walk-on. So I rode again. Third time, I figured it out.
01:46:58
Speaker
And ah they're like, what's wrong? that I said, I freaking hate it. um and I was like, i three rides to figure them out yeah up until that point, I had never like disliked the roller coaster before. Like I had never like genuinely just hated a coaster model. ah So like I like ah it took the third ride for me to figure out what was wrong with me. I was like, I don't know what this feeling is. was like, oh, I know it is. It disgusts me.
01:47:22
Speaker
I was like, I can't stand it. um and that's that So it became like, what's wrong with me? What's wrong with me? then you figured out, oh, it's not me. It's the coaster. Yeah, it's the coaster. That's when I found it. The third ride got off, i was like, it's stupid.
01:47:36
Speaker
like I can't stand It doesn't do anything. There's no airtime. There's no layout. It's a waste of RMC track. i like like like yeah like i yeah I had a full rant like right there at Great Adventure in front of Joker.
01:47:48
Speaker
um The worst one I've ever ridden um They're all the same. ah so They're all evil. They're all really awful. I would say this. Dragonslayer.
01:48:01
Speaker
That's what I was going to say. yeah ah Yeah, they're all bad. ah I will say this. Toon Billy.
01:48:10
Speaker
Everything is right about it except for what it is. ah love the name. I love the way it looks. I love the color scheme. I love the monkey noise. I love and ah the presentation. great. The sound, the name is unique for like what it is. I'm like, everything's great except for what it is. They got everything right except for like what the ride model is. ah like and What a waste of of of an of a name and a color scheme and a theme. It's just it's just unbelievable.
01:48:34
Speaker
ah So that's it. So Great Adventure probably my my least favorite because that's the one that like got me started. i' haven't been on it ever since. So I only have two more left to ride in the world. So um it's almost over.
01:48:54
Speaker
I still love that even though you hate them, you're like, well, I got to get the credits. I'm going to get on it. I wrote Arashi in Japan. Did not want to write it. yeah so I was hoping it was good. walked right by it. We got we gotta to knock this thing out.
01:49:08
Speaker
I proceeded to hate it. once again that was That was close for for us, unfortunately. like That was nice. was hoping for that, Joker Great America and you know you know joker at a great great america great Joker at Great America in ah in Illinois. That's my 400 credit.
01:49:29
Speaker
You made a milestone. I'm not a milestone guy. so like I don't chase it. like I'm just wondering whatever's next. and like It was open. wanted to be Batman while was there. I was like, Batman's not open. V2's not open. It's the only thing open right now. it's No line.
01:49:42
Speaker
I'm like, oh no. Let's like you surely i don't ah it I'm not waiting for this thing. Let's just go ride it. It's sadly a milestone. Uh, what are you at credit wise, by the way?
01:49:54
Speaker
Uh, we just got the 571 now. so almost should to hit that probably next year at some point I'm running out space.
01:50:05
Speaker
There's not much left in United States. I was going say, 570 without touching Europe is impressive. Yeah. yeah i got got I got a lot of defunct rides, and ah and Japan helped out a lot, too. And then, like I said, ah some plus ones a around the place. But I got a lot i got lot lot i got a lot of defunct rides like from back in the day.
01:50:22
Speaker
ah That kind of helped out. But I'm pretty much done with the USA. So I just, ah yeah. that's why That's why I'm like either traveling Mexico, Europe. Let's go. UK. Let's go get it.
01:50:37
Speaker
And one more point from, I don't know who this guy is, Caleb? Oh, my God.
01:50:44
Speaker
Not a question, but um if you could mention a positive thing about an S&S free spin or Titan track and just see what happens, he would he would really enjoy that.
01:50:58
Speaker
He's trying to ignite me. I mean, you mentioned Tambili. That was positive. it said It looks great for what it is. He knows how much I feel about Titan track. <unk> So like i'm I'm not going to say anything positive about that Titan track. I am a wooden coaster, like connoisseur. I prefer woodies over steel.
01:51:13
Speaker
and And I like them to be all wood. What? What? Yes, I like them to be all wood. I don't like i can't stand the the Titan Track hybrid thing or a 208 track inside that blends with the wood.
01:51:26
Speaker
I can't stand it. But we're not going to go there. We're good. We're good. We're good we're under control. Have you been on Predator at Darien Lake since they touched that up? No, I rode Predator 2017 or 2018. heard...
01:51:39
Speaker
seventeen or eighteen winning was heard Now that they finished it's actually really good. If you can do if you do all Titan track, I'm on board. ah But they're there. Me and GCI right now, I do it ever since they did at the Boulder Dash, which was one of my favorite wooden coaches. We're not on the same page right now.
01:51:58
Speaker
We're not cool. feel you there We're not cool. And now Prowler. Oh, my gosh. Wait, they're on Titan track and Prowler? It's already on there. Oh, no.
01:52:11
Speaker
I didn't know that. You've been to Kings the Million now, right? And so like you've seen what Gravity can do. They're the best of the new track. It's just unbelievable what they can do. Just let them do their thing.
01:52:23
Speaker
ah And then I know Parks got to maintain it, but man, just let them do their thing. And we get great things. Let woodies be woodies. It's just confusing to the writer to go from wood to steel, back to wood, back to steel.
01:52:36
Speaker
I was like, that's not... I think Wolverine Wildcat, Michigan's Adventure has like every single. It has like 208. It has like pre-cut. It's another one. That's another park right there, man. It just bolted. Now you just.
01:52:51
Speaker
It's another one, man. they they just They just took on shivering timbers. Now it's not wood anymore. It's just. Just leave these coaches alone. That's why I love Holiday World. And like Knoebels. These parks just take Kings of Maine, Kings Island.
01:53:04
Speaker
like they they They take care of their woodies.
01:53:08
Speaker
This could be another segue for the last question, for me anyway. don't know who wants to ask it.
Legacy and Speculation of Coaster Manufacturers
01:53:15
Speaker
I still can't get over the fact that he said that wooden coasters are better than steel. yeah have Podcast. I'm disgusted. I am. Oh, I'll take, I'll take wooden coasters all day. every year They have character in. I blacked out for the whole rest of this conversation. Jen's face is in such disgust for the last like three minutes. Absolutely.
01:53:33
Speaker
I literally was still processing and not like at all listening. Love steel, by the way, loves, they prefer the wooden coasters. That's why Hollywood, like one of my favorite parks. I can, I can sit there all day.
01:53:44
Speaker
and do Legend, Raven, and Voyage all day. All day and smile.
01:53:50
Speaker
All right. I'm just going this last question then because I think I know what his answer is going to be. Maybe. ah John Randall. What defunct manufacturer do you wish would come back to make one more coaster?
01:54:02
Speaker
Defunct manufacturer. Because I have one. I have one too. I'm just going to say it. CCI. ah They're still kind of here, sort of.
01:54:14
Speaker
Okay. Fair. They're still kind of here. That's fair. I would love Errol Dineb to come back and build Dragonfire again. to make me there I was going say that I'm probably going to guess your answer to be Errol to come back and do Dragonfire, too. love that.
01:54:27
Speaker
I just love for them just come back and just build their โ I love arrows. i so like I'm an arrow guy. um So I'd love for them to just come back and just build their things. Ron Toomer with this building your copper wire, man, taking the wire hanger and just bending it, man. Like, like come back and do that again.
01:54:43
Speaker
oh Like, give me that. um That's probably my answer. I like that of it.
01:54:50
Speaker
CCI, man, they made some... They're technically still here, but yeah, CCI would have been... Let's see what they could have done now. man Somebody hired a graduate to make a terrain woody.
01:55:04
Speaker
A large version somewhere in the world that's not in China. It'd be great. It's insane what they did. like that was They were around for 10 years, and that's it.
01:55:15
Speaker
decade... and yet what are what attack bring them back. Let Craft go to build their own thing, minus the Timberliners. I'm not a fan of Timberliner training. yeah so still just Timberliners are great on the smaller ones, but not on the big ones.
01:55:31
Speaker
Too much friction and vibration when it go faster. ah they don't think They kind of feel uncomfortable.
01:55:40
Speaker
Can get my answer? No. and Only us. Sports golf. I am the word that rhymes with what is Schwarzkopf. Schwarzkopf is a good one. I'm not going to lie, it's a good one.
01:55:54
Speaker
it's I would do anything in this life to have more Schwarzkopf. I would give up any other coaster. I like that answer. Schwarzkopf is great.
01:56:05
Speaker
yeah Anton, what up, guy? Yeah, that's good answer. Imagine a Schwarzkopf hyper. Ooh. um oo Imagine what they could do today. I love them. Their forces are insane. They're so good.
01:56:18
Speaker
I'm getting two new Schwarzkopf guys next month. I probably feel like it's going to derail. Oh, would always good oh got that The fact that the ones that travel, what are they called?
01:56:28
Speaker
The stars something or another? no. I can't think of a name. The fact that when you come down, that like you get to the top of the lift hill and you make that turn and you look like you're just about to smack your face onto the...
01:56:42
Speaker
piece of track. Like, oh my gosh, take my head.
01:56:47
Speaker
Oh my god. Not to be dark, but if anyone ever did build the euthanasia coaster, it would have been Schwarzkopf. Yes. I agree with that. 100%.
Community Appreciation and Closing Reflections
01:56:58
Speaker
I feel like they just didn't test the forces on your body. like Those loops are so intense.
01:57:05
Speaker
Like, how? They're so good. good. All right. Well, anyway, Mike, I genuinely mean this. You are.
01:57:16
Speaker
What? Oh, sorry. Oh, I hadn't even thought about an answer. so thought you agreed with Arrow when when Mike said it. Yeah, you did. I was saying that I had a feeling that was what his answer was going to be. Oh, I see.
01:57:28
Speaker
Well, you have an answer? i'm intrigued. Probably Schwarzkopf. Agreed. Just after writing like Lisa Bergbon and how good that was. Can you imagine how many wooden roller coaster manufacturers Schwarzkopf could have put out of business?
01:57:44
Speaker
Just by existing longer. My goodness.
01:57:49
Speaker
hat It was going well. It was going well. It was going well. I'm really glad. You did good. You did good. yeah know yeah hour Hour and 50 minutes. You did good. If you would have waited, I would have picked mom. She still has never been to Hollywood, FYI. That's unbelievable. You really got to come to Hollywood.
01:58:05
Speaker
I'll give you Knoebels. The wooden coasters are definitely winning in that part. Oh, yeah, man. I loved i love Twister. and Yeah. like Twister. Okay, well, now we can wrap That answer said everything. Yeah, now me and Mike are never going to be friends again. Sorry, guys. I like Twister.
01:58:24
Speaker
Twister's great. Well, I was going to say, like, legit, like, Mike, you are, like, one of, like, the true gems of this community, like, Anytime I'm like, oh, Mike's here, like, oh, it's going to be a good day. Like you were just exude positivity. You're everything this hobby should be about.
01:58:40
Speaker
Man. Well, I appreciate that. You know, so um like I said, I met you all except for Allison. and so um So we're going to have to work on that at some point in the next like 12 months something like that before you get married, at least.
01:58:52
Speaker
um Because you might know, people get married and they disappear out of the community. i mean like it's It sucks. I'm like, what happened to someone? They got married? Where did he go? ah We met through the community. so like That's not going to change. okay okay well what's it's It's recorded and documented now, so now you're here. Perfect. I appreciate that.
01:59:11
Speaker
I need you two to like like be one of those couples and ah in a husband and wife that's like out here. so like yeah don't Don't leave us. We need some more podcasts. ah we use some more We need some more flags. We need some more people laughing and making fun of me and my geo-guessers.
01:59:24
Speaker
I need all this stuff, man. and i need Happy to help. Yes. I need drunk segments. This is beautiful. yeah Please don't leave us. We need that. and we need that No, thanks, man. I just try to be me. I always say I'm just um just me.
01:59:37
Speaker
yeah yeah I don't think I anything special in that at all. just I am who I am, man. I'm grateful to be part of a ah on an an uninitiated like system of a community where everybody just kind of like gets it.
01:59:51
Speaker
Everybody rocks and vibing. For the most part, man everybody's fun. You know, everybody's good to hang out with everybody's fun. I love the quirkiness here, even though, you know, Jen's over here bashing my Woody's man, but she's great because I love her energy and like what she brings.
02:00:04
Speaker
um And there's nobody that's going to ever like get you mad at somebody. It was like, I'm a talent fan. I'm like, you're not a talent fan. ah let's just be I was like, you're not a talent fan.
02:00:14
Speaker
I was like, I know the real talent fan. But like that, ah that personality that she has and her energy and that it's just, it's contagious. I love that kind of stuff. You know, like ah and you Brian with your 365. Are you serious?
02:00:28
Speaker
Like, like just like just kind of following that whole thing, which is crazy. I just like, and I love, and I love tournament every year. So, so like, and just, everybody just does great things, man. So,
02:00:40
Speaker
i appreciate that thank you allison for inviting me on the podcast and uh bringing on this for the inverted and uh we got two introverts and uh and two extroverts on here and we're gonna work on and i've got it like i said i've got my list now drinks of the park there we go i didn't i didn't even mention uh We also have two people that have not torn their Achilles and two people that have torn their Achilles. Oh my goodness.
02:01:02
Speaker
like I don't even know. You're the first one to reach out to me like, hey, I did this too. Went through that, man. I'm hoping I was helpful for that too because i had to go through mine solo, man, like by myself. And I was just like, I don't know what to do with this thing. And I was like, as soon that happened to you, goes like, oh, I know what he's going through.
02:01:19
Speaker
i like i just went through that. And yeah. I hated that. Especially like got a a few weeks after the s surgery where I'm just like on the couch. You literally came for two can't do nothing. I mean, like, yeah and like, I don't feel like me at all. Like, I'm not a, I'm not a sit down person whatsoever. I have to like, I'm, I'm always constantly on the move. Uh, and so like being crippled, like basically literally crippled, ah for like a month or two and I've been run and do nothing for like, like six months. That was tough.
02:01:46
Speaker
Um, And I'm glad the surgery now is is so much more advanced than when I did it. I tore mine in 2011. And so, you know, they've got way better technology now ah that can get you, like, healed quicker. So good to see you um moving around the park, man, as best as you could. So it's kind of seeing you around here, man. So I'm looking forward to seeing you on the cruise.
02:02:06
Speaker
Yes, so yeah i'm on that I'm on the Kosher Studios cruise. don't think I've said that publicly. Yeah, I'm on Kosher Studios cruise, so I'll be on that cruise. I'm excited to go out there and try that out as well too and do everything I can and see if I get Brian drunk in one night.
02:02:17
Speaker
Yeah! I've already told Sarah to lock that in. She's like, yep. She's like, no problem. Looking forward to it. So I've already got one like already on board.
02:02:28
Speaker
i don't think Taylor drinks. He does not. Taylor just doesn't drink at all. Sarah's theres like, I'm looking forward to getting away stay with you. It was like, perfect. all like race yeah We usually have one good night.
02:02:39
Speaker
She's going to have like two or three. Looking forward to that. um right We're going to have one for Brian there also. and so um And then Allison, whenever you come on the the the next one, we're going to get you situated also. You and Mike, that'd be great.
02:02:51
Speaker
I would love to. Unfortunately, I have very limited PTO. Yeah. So that kind of your hard work ruins that. And I got to plan a honeymoon. It's only honeymoon. It's only a wedding honeymoon. It's all that stuff. It's cool.
02:03:03
Speaker
Yeah. That's a lot of work. But no, thank you all. I appreciate you guys bringing me on. So ah it's been great. So anytime you guys need anything, let me know. I'm always down. have fun I'm always good for riding. If you guys ever visit the Kings of Maine, down street. So be more happy to come out and hang out with you guys.
02:03:18
Speaker
Yeah. I'll get back over there eventually. don't know when. You're going to come back to Kings Island too. Get some more blue ice cream. Yeah, dude. I still got to ride Snoopy. Don't have it yet.
02:03:29
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, Snoopy's so fun. Before Kings of Man gets there. So yeah, I gotta go and ride that. yeah That's how they do. They mimic each other. We'll one at some point.
02:03:43
Speaker
Alright, Mike. You are the best. Jen, your opinions are infuriating sometimes. Allison, you're alright too.
02:03:58
Speaker
Alright, well, guys, that brings us to the end of the episode. Yes. Another two-hour banger. Hey, it's not two and a half, it's not 245. That's what I had get a little better.
02:04:12
Speaker
Yeah, we need a little better. I got to go pack for a trip tomorrow. I got to finish packing too. I got to go finish washing clothes. yeah I literally got to go to the basement and finish washing clothes. I'm about to go down in in there right now, put it dryer, throw another load in and then come back up these stairs and fold them and put the bag in and get ready for, the I guess, for riding Christ. No, I was not packing kosher clothes on this trip.
02:04:35
Speaker
Now I have to. Now you have to. yeah What do you expect on our trip with coaster people expect to go to wedding uh that's a wrong expectation but i guess that would that would that checks out for someone who prefers whatever stuff well whatever you end up doing have fun this weekend i appreciate enjoy the wedding it's good and not getting creds yeah and remember Remember to always hashtag think inverted. Oh, yeah. I would definitely do that. umfo hashtag hashtag con convert Hashtag think introverted. Think introverted. There we go. I like that. Perfect. going to be annoying.
02:05:14
Speaker
appreciate that. Heck yeah. We'll see y'all next time. Love you guys.
