Everything Action Commentary: Hitman: Agent 47 (2015)

For the latest Everything Action Commentary, Chris is joined by special guest Addam to watch the 2015 video game adaptation, Hitman: Agent 47, as Hitman developer IO Interactive launches its new game, 007 First Light.
In the second attempt to bring Agent 47 to the big screen, Rupert Friend takes over from Timothy Olyphant as 47, the genetically enhanced assassin. In a twist on Terminator 2, 47 is initially set up as the villain, with John Smith (Zachary Quinto) rescuing a girl named Katia (Hannah Ware), whose father Litvenko (Ciarán Hinds) created the Agent program that birthed 47. Smith is actually an evil, even more enhanced super soldier, and the two battle it out. While watching the movie, Chris and Addam discuss how John Smith immediately reveals he knows everything about Katia's father, the unrealistic helicopter physics, the extremely rushed explanation of how Agents are made, and more.

They're they're like... the The depth of the the Hitman games themselves is just it's just unheard of. like you Multiple people can play the same level and kill the same people but have completely different experiences on how they do it. Like the way that you kill people in this game and like the way that you interact with the world is just, it's just so crazy. So I don't know. i don't, I'm probably personally not to play the new James Bond game because like I said, I'm not good at the hitman games, but I'll definitely be watching YouTube videos of speed runners trying to break it and stuff like that. So it should be interesting.

Evolution of Hitman Games

So ah what's interesting is for a Hitman game that came out in 2015, I think the only game that came out around that time was Hitman Absolution, which was still part of the iOS Interactive. And ah there was another company, but it was like before Eidos and had like the and like another merger. It's like think it was like Square Enix was part of them.

So, yeah, this is before IO Interactive really took the reins and then, like, brought it over. So this this movie is more based on Hitman 2 and a little bit of Hitman 3, or Hitman Contracts, um which is something that, like, I got more into the lore later. I got into the Hitman games later in in, like, the franchise than the beginning.
