When you fix your energy everything just seems to come to you naturally but when your energy is off life just seems to be all over the place and not in alignment, do you agree?

Adam's Return and Overcoming Low Energy

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome back to another episode of Unlocking with Adam Pike. It's been a month. It's been a month since I've been on here, guys. I apologize. I gotta say that I feel like the reason why I have not been doing a whole lot of podcasts is because my energy has been fucked up. And what do I mean by my energy is fucked up?
00:00:26
Speaker
Well, I actually posted a quote today and it went something like this. When you put yourself into a rut, because we do that, you know, I understand things happen in our life, but at the end of the day, we are the person that puts ourself in these ruts. When you put yourself in those ruts,
00:00:48
Speaker
You need to take yourself out of that rut as fast as fucking possible. Because if you don't, your energy is all fucked up. And when your energy is all fucked up, you're not your best self. And that's exactly what was going on with me.
00:01:08
Speaker
My energy was a little wanky and I really didn't feel like doing these podcasts and I apologize about that because I was doing one almost pretty much every week and I know some of you guys were listening to this and I do appreciate that.
00:01:28
Speaker
I fixed my energy and I want to get back to podcasts. And I did do a podcast actually, like on another platform with somebody else. I do have another couple lined up with like, it's not my podcast. So I want to get back into it. I want to start bringing people on and, um, yeah, just get back into the swing of

Impact of Ruts on Daily Life

00:01:51
Speaker
things. But I just want to cover basically what I just talked about because
00:01:57
Speaker
It is so, so, so important because when you are not your best self and you are in a rot, every single thing in life can be hard. Going to work can be hard. Being in a relationship can be hard. You know, playing sports can be hard.
00:02:19
Speaker
Just simple daily tasks can be heard if you are in this rut. Just give me a second here. I gotta take a little swig of that eons coffee. This eons coffee is actually pretty great. I don't know if you've probably heard me talking about this, but, um,
00:02:42
Speaker
It's basically mushroom coffee and man, it just makes you so laser, laser focused and just full of energy all day. I actually like cut down to one coffee day when I started drinking this. Anyways, back to...
00:02:56
Speaker
not feeling yourself, not being your best energy and, you know, feeling a little bit fucked up. And that's how I felt like I have been for the last couple of months and it played a huge role on my life because I work from home, right? And I'm always creating content.

Positive vs. Negative Energy

00:03:17
Speaker
And when you're in this state of mind, I was like, I didn't want to do podcasts. I didn't want to create content.
00:03:24
Speaker
I didn't really want to do anything. And it was almost like I was very confused. Even when I like, some days I would be like, okay, let's create a podcast. I wouldn't know what to talk about. Or if I wanted to make a video, I just wouldn't even know where to start. And when you are at your best self and everything is just thriving,
00:03:47
Speaker
Your energy just moves different and people pick up on that. Like when you're just at your ultimate best self, you rub off on people. And anytime that you are around people, anytime that you talk to people, anytime that you leave your friends, they're like, holy shit, this person makes me feel good. And that's how I want to live my life.
00:04:15
Speaker
because I have people in my life that when we hang out and I leave their presence, I'm like, man, I'm so fucking glad they're my friend. They are the best. They're always so much fun. They are the best human ever.
00:04:32
Speaker
And that's how everybody should strive to be like that. Because nobody likes negative Nancy's, negative Nellie's, soul sucking energy people that just anytime you go around them, they're just sucking the life out of you.
00:04:52
Speaker
that is not good but i understand sometimes people are going through it and they need a friend whatever but there is those people that are like that all of the time and you don't want to be that person so that's why i was saying so important that when you put yourself into this rut
00:05:10
Speaker
Get yourself out of that rut as fast as fucking possible. Because if you stay in that rut, you're eventually going to be that person that sucks the life out of people. You don't want that. That's not fun to be around.

Defining Ruts and Self-Maintenance

00:05:25
Speaker
Now, how do you get yourself out of these ruts?
00:05:29
Speaker
I know I've talked about this before on previous podcasts, but I just want to kind of like bring it up again about how to like really get yourself out of a rut. What is even a rut? Like, what, like, what am I even talking about, Adam? For me, a rut is like.
00:05:49
Speaker
when your energy's down, you're in your head a little bit, and you're a little bit confused with life, you're not really sure, you're doing the right thing, you're questioning everything, and this is not like me, right? Normally I'm pretty upbeat, positive, fuck yeah, let's go for life. But we are all humans, and as much work as you do on yourself,
00:06:19
Speaker
You know, you're still going to feel these feelings. And sometimes it can be a little bit harder than other times, but it's just constant work. Right. And that's one thing that I've noticed is, you know, your mental state of mind, there's no destination. Like you don't finally get to a place where you are great. And then you stay there because I've been great so many times, but then.
00:06:44
Speaker
you know, life happens, things happen, and you go back into that rut. So it's just a constant effort to keep your mental state of mind at a place where you can feel peace, happiness, and love. And if you stop, if you stop doing all the things that got you there, because you think that you're okay, you might tend to go back into that rut again.
00:07:12
Speaker
It's I think of it like doing yoga and stretching. Okay. Like for me.
00:07:20
Speaker
I'll start stretching when I start feeling pains in my body. And when I start stretching a lot, then I start feeling good and my body's working right again, then I'm like, oh yeah, I'm great now. I don't need to stretch anymore. Then I'll go lift a bunch of heavy weights and I'll play basketball and I'll go for runs. And then what happens? My body starts to hurt once again. So.
00:07:44
Speaker
Same goes for your mental state of mind. You have to continue to work on it every single day. And as annoying as it probably can be, you need to do

Reclaiming Beneficial Habits

00:07:57
Speaker
it. And the things that I stopped doing over that, you know, month period where I wasn't doing any podcasts and it wasn't really, I was making content, but like not really a whole lot of content. Um,
00:08:11
Speaker
You know, I realized that I stopped journaling. I haven't read a book in, I don't even remember the last time I read a book. I still listen to the podcast. I stopped meditating. I stopped cold plunging. I stopped going for outdoor walks. And these were all things that were really bringing me a lot of joy. And I really liked doing these meditations. Like I don't, I remember,
00:08:39
Speaker
that I would get deep into these meditations and man, like I would get these like big releases and I'd be crying and like, it was just beautiful, right? Yes, men do cry, right? I cry often, trust me. And it's okay to cry, okay? If any men are listening to this. But yeah, I stopped meditating and I stopped journaling. Like normally I would just write down like journaling is such a powerful thing.
00:09:08
Speaker
I think everybody should do it. And I always just write like how I'm feeling. That's it. How I'm feeling like what's on my mind and you just get it. You get it out of your mind onto the paper and then it's not stuck in your mind. It's almost like, you know, a way of like therapy. You know what I mean? I stopped cold plunging. Well, I understand that my cold plunged outside. I got full of snow and there was holes in it and stuff, but
00:09:35
Speaker
Yeah, I started I started like taking cold showers again. And you know, even just doing that cold shower makes a huge difference because it sucks. Doing cold plunges suck and it never gets any better. But it's like,
00:09:53
Speaker
You're forcing yourself to do that hard thing that you don't want to do. And a lot of people in life likes comfort. They really just enjoy the comfort of being comfortable. And they'll never step out of that comfort zone and take on things that are hard. So doing that cold shower sucks, but
00:10:21
Speaker
I feel good about it afterwards. I'm like, you know what? I don't really like the cold, but I'm going to do it. This is probably going to be the hardest thing that I do today, but I'm going to do it, right?
00:10:31
Speaker
Um, go for simple walks outside. I used to do that all the time, all the time, but go in the morning. I'd go for like walks through the woods, like trail running and stuff. Stop doing that. And I'm doing it again now. And I love it. It's great. Like I'm putting the vest on again. I'm going out running. It's just.
00:10:52
Speaker
Like all of these things, all these simple little things that like we all have time to do because a lot of people say, I don't have time. I don't, I call it bullshit. If you don't have time for five minutes to write down something in your journal a day, that's bullshit. Like how much time do you spend on your phone? How much time do you spend just procrastinating about things, right? Meditating. You don't need to sit there for 30 minutes to meditate.
00:11:22
Speaker
A simple five minute breathing exercise every day could be like in the morning or at night. It really makes a difference. Like if you were feeling stressed at all, just breathe in, breathe out. Like you can put on a guided meditation. There's all these apps that you can go on YouTube, Spotify, whatever, and listen to somebody and they will guide you right through it.
00:11:45
Speaker
Anyways, I believe that, you know, people go into these ruts because they don't actually take care of themselves.

Challenges of Working from Home

00:11:56
Speaker
And I have been going through a lot of changes in my life. I'm adjusting to a lot and the changes that I'm talking about is working from home. I've been taking on a lot of new roles and I'm working from home all the time, but I can't, I was struggling
00:12:13
Speaker
disconnecting from the work and actually having balance in my life for my own life. You know what I mean? So because I was working from home, it was like I was all like work was just always on my mind. Then I stopped actually taking care of Adam and doing the things that I need in my life.
00:12:32
Speaker
to keep me at a good state of mind. So that's why I feel like I've just been in a rut for the last month because it was just work, work, work, work, work, work, work. Sorry. I understand that, you know, I am like, I feel like I'm trying to build something here and I'm like,
00:12:57
Speaker
It's a lot more harder when you're working for yourself than when you're working for a company that you got to set your alarm in the morning, wake up and go to work, right? It's like I have to wake myself up and I have to create stuff, you know what I mean? So that's why I was kind of in a rut because I just stopped doing all the things that was bringing me to a lot of peace and happiness.
00:13:26
Speaker
And yeah, it's just been a lot of changes.

Confidence vs. Cockiness

00:13:30
Speaker
So if you guys are going through anything like this at all, or if you are going through a rot and you're stuck in it and you're not feeling yourself, start doing some things that's going to better yourself. And it could be simply just like looking at yourself in the mirror and saying,
00:13:56
Speaker
I love myself. Just looking at yourself, like how many times have you ever done this? Have you looked at yourself and you were confident and you were like, fuck yeah, I'm the shit. You might think I'm crazy, but like some people might look at their self and they just automatically judge something about themselves or they don't like how their eye is not the same as their other eye or something like that. You know what I mean?
00:14:27
Speaker
You need to, having confidence is freaking huge. It's freaking huge in this world. And don't get confidence confused with cockiness because people say that to me all the time. Well, not all the time, but like I've heard it many times over the years just to go, you're cocky. You're, no, no honey. I'm actually confident in myself and I know that I am the shit.
00:14:55
Speaker
And it's just that simple. I'm not being cocky. I just have a lot of confidence. And confidence is just like...
00:15:02
Speaker
you know, making a decision and being very confident in that decision instead of making a decision and second guessing yourself or, you know, doing one thing and then being like, ah, ah, no, I don't know, man. Like it's just be confident in everything you do and things, things, things will start working out for you. I know when I started really being very confident in myself,
00:15:30
Speaker
That's when just things just started happening in my life. And what happened in my life? Well, I know that when I was the most confident in myself, that's when I made a big brother. All those other years I tried out, I don't think I was very confident. And I feel like they picked up on that when I was trying out, right? So like, when I really started believing in Adam, they were like, oh, okay, he's pretty confident this year. You know what I mean?
00:15:59
Speaker
Like even online, like I do a lot of talking online and like, you know, you have to be very sure of yourself when you're, you're making these videos and stuff like that. And companies started seeing this in me, like they started seeing how I was talking and how confident I was when I was talking. And then like, I was, you know, all these other like opportunities start coming to me. You know what I mean? So when you get your energy, right. And you're very confident in yourself.
00:16:26
Speaker
And your mind is at a place of peace and happiness. And you are just thriving in life. Trust me, opportunities and all these things that you've wanted is just going to come to you. And I truly, truly, truly believe in that, that when your energy is like mixed well, the universe just knows. And it's just all these things just start coming because it happened to me.
00:16:54
Speaker
But I do know that when you are in that rut and your energy is off, it affects every single thing in your life.

The Role of Energy in Life

00:17:03
Speaker
People pick up on it. People don't wanna be around that. You're not gonna get opportunities. You might ruin friendships, you might ruin relationships, you might ruin marriages. Your kids might pick up on it. So just take a second today and ask yourself,
00:17:22
Speaker
Is my energy right? Am I the best version of myself? If you are, great. Keep doing whatever the fuck you are doing. But if you're not, just actually reflect on your life.
00:17:39
Speaker
and be like, okay, what am I doing? What am I doing wrong? What can I do to fix this? Just be aware of how you're feeling. Make sure that energy is at the top of its game. So anyways, it was good to be back to go on another rant. You guys know I like to talk a lot of shit.
00:18:02
Speaker
half the time i don't even know if any of it makes sense but i'm just talking off the top of my head and you know it's just how i feel and it's just things that that i go through in life and i just like sharing it with you guys and i think that's just what podcasting is about you know everybody has their own points of views and all that kind of stuff but i just like to share
00:18:26
Speaker
I just like to be transparent with you guys. And, you know, when I'm going through it, I want to share it with you guys. Because I know some of you guys are probably going through it too. And you're going to listen to this and relate to it. And you'll say, oh shit, man. Like, we're all going through it. You know, and that's why it's so important to be nice to people because you never know what somebody else is going through. Even like when somebody is like super nasty to you.
00:18:52
Speaker
You can look at it like, and he's probably having a really bad day, probably has nothing to do with you at all. It's just that they might be going through something at home. You know, maybe they just got off the phone with her wife and it was like a nasty thing. And then they just took it out on you, right? You never really know.

Transparency and Responding to Negativity

00:19:12
Speaker
So someone treats you like shit. Treat them nicely.
00:19:17
Speaker
Kill him with kindness, right? Anyways, I'm tuning out. If you like this podcast, share it to somebody that you know would want to listen to it.
00:19:27
