Today we will continue reading the Book of Revelation with Chapters 20 and 21.

Today we will read about the beautiful description of the new Jerusalem and be reminded that it is important for our names to be written in Jesus' Book of Life, because that is the only way we will be able to enter God's New Jerusalem. God assures us today that His words are trustworthy and true.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about God's trustworthiness and faithfulness. Throughout history and scripture everything God has said He will do, He has done. Those things that are not yet complete, such as the things we read about in Revelation, we can be sure are still going to happen, no matter how long it has been since the Revelation was given to John. There absolutely will be a day of judgment. God once again promised us the gift of streams of living water. Those whose names are written in Jesus' Book of Life can absolutely look forward living forever with God and Jesus. He will be our God and we will be His children! Amen! Hallelujah!

Introduction and Daily Bible Reading

00:00:02
Speaker
Welcome back everybody. Today is the daily reading for December 30th. My name is Robin. I'm within the Family Way Coaching and I am very pleased to read to you today.
00:00:14
Speaker
We are reading out of the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley. And we are almost finished with the book, the entire big story of the Bible.
00:00:27
Speaker
We will be covering Revelation chapters 20 and 21 tonight, and it is going to be lovely. Tonight, we are going to hear from God that He and His words are trustworthy and true.
00:00:45
Speaker
Before we get into our reading, you know what we're going to do next. We're going to take out our calendar. We have only two days left, today and tomorrow. And we're going to cross off our day because we are about to hear the Bible today.
00:01:00
Speaker
i hope that you are having an awesome day as we come to the conclusion of our year and of our event tomorrow in just our and in astonishment as well. I just cannot believe we did it.
00:01:16
Speaker
This was such a big project and I am just super excited that we are almost done. i just cannot believe it. ah i'm just so thrilled and joyful about that.
00:01:29
Speaker
Well, today we are going to go ahead and

Revelation's Key Events and Imagery

00:01:32
Speaker
get started. We are going to be reading about... when ah the beast is thrown into the bottomless pit, the beast being Satan.
00:01:43
Speaker
And we're going to read about how he is let out for a little while, but again, God is in control, and He is doing things the way He wants to do them.
00:01:53
Speaker
Whether we understand why He does things the way He does them or not, we know that we can trust God. And we know that all of the promises that God has been making throughout the Bible,
00:02:08
Speaker
He has kept every one of them. And those that have not yet come to pass, the ones that we are reading about in Revelation, we can trust that these too will come to pass. That God's words are trustworthy and true.
00:02:26
Speaker
God is so faithful. God never leaves us. He never, ever leaves us. Everything he says is absolute truth.
00:02:38
Speaker
And Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. And we're going to be seeing Jesus today too, of course. ah We're going to be getting a glimpse as to what heaven is going to look like when we get there.
00:02:54
Speaker
Are you ready? It's going to be gorgeous. I'm going to intersperse some of our big Bible into the reading as I frequently do so that we can have a very complete view and understanding of what we are reading.
00:03:10
Speaker
Also, the stones that are described are beautiful. And in order to make it easier to understand, this version just gives us the colors of these stones. However, I'm going to give us the stones names.
00:03:24
Speaker
Now, some of them I've not actually heard of before, so I was um i was a little and hesitant on their pronunciation. So I hope I say them correctly.
00:03:36
Speaker
ah And if I don't, then kindly forgive me for that. I have not had time to research the the correct pronunciations to be sure that I am pronouncing the stones correctly.
00:03:48
Speaker
Well, here we go, starting with chapter 20.
00:03:53
Speaker
Now, when we left off yesterday, we left off with all of the others that had been in the war were killed by the sword. And the sword came from the mouth of the horse rider, who was Jesus.
00:04:08
Speaker
And then the birds swallowed them.
00:04:13
Speaker
An angel came down in front of heaven. Oh, it came down from heaven, rather. Sorry about that. An angel came down from heaven and he held the key to the bottomless pit.
00:04:26
Speaker
He also held a big chain. He caught the dragon. That dragon is the old snake, the devil or Satan.
00:04:38
Speaker
And in Hebrew, they actually call him Hasatan. meaning the adversary, because Satan just means adversary.
00:04:48
Speaker
The angel put the chain on him and it had to stay on him for 1,000 years. Then the angel threw him into the bottomless pit and the angel locked the pit and covered it.
00:05:03
Speaker
And that would keep Satan from lying to the nations anymore. He was there until the thousand years were over, and then he would have to be set free for a little while.
00:05:18
Speaker
I saw kings' thrones, and people who were judges sat there. Then I saw souls. They had been killed because they talked about Jesus.
00:05:34
Speaker
They had not worshipped the animal or his idol. They had not gotten his mark on their heads or hands. So they came back to life again. And they ruled with Jesus for a thousand years.
00:05:50
Speaker
After that, the rest of the dead people came back to life again. And this is when people came back to life for the first time.
00:06:01
Speaker
And I'm going to read out of our big Bible here.

Visions of a New Heaven and Earth

00:06:05
Speaker
How fortunate and holy is the one who has a share in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no authority, but they shall be priests of God and the Messiah, and they shall reign with him for a thousand years.
00:06:29
Speaker
God will bring good things to these people. They are clean and sinless.
00:06:36
Speaker
After the thousand years, Satan will be let out of the pit, and he will go around the earth, and he will lie to the nations, and he will get them together to fight a war.
00:06:49
Speaker
Wouldn't you think that he would be done? Wouldn't you think at some point he would just... realize that he's not going to win and beg for mercy.
00:07:02
Speaker
At no point does he do that, that we are told. He is stubborn to the very, very end, as though he thinks he really has a chance.
00:07:13
Speaker
i just I just don't get that. He is just stubborn beyond all belief. He's had thousands of years to change his ways, and yet Satan has never done so.
00:07:29
Speaker
After the thousand years, Satan will be let out of the pit and he will go around the earth. He will lie to the nations and he will get them together to fight a war.
00:07:41
Speaker
There were many people in this war. There were as many as the sand on the beach and they marched all over the earth. They stood in a circle around God's people's camp.
00:07:55
Speaker
And that's the city that God loves. We know the name of that city. That is Jerusalem.
00:08:05
Speaker
But guess what? Guess who wins? Fire came out of heaven and it burned them up. Then Satan was thrown into the burning lake of sulfur.
00:08:18
Speaker
We call it yellow acid in our version. And that is where the animal and the lying prophet were thrown before. They will always be in pain forever and ever.
00:08:34
Speaker
Then I saw the king. He was sitting on his great white throne. The earth ran away from him and the sky ran away from him.
00:08:49
Speaker
Everyone who had died stood in front of the king.
00:08:56
Speaker
God's book of life was opened. Other books were opened too. I wonder what those other books are. We're not told. The people were judged for what they had done.
00:09:11
Speaker
It was written in the books. I wonder if they're just the books of the deeds, the the things that people have done. Then death was thrown into the burning lake of fire.
00:09:26
Speaker
Then I saw a new heaven. I saw a new earth. The first heaven and earth were gone. And there wasn't a sea anymore.
00:09:40
Speaker
gotta tell you, when I read that there was no sea anymore, I was a little disappointed. Because I thought, I love the sea animals. But you know what? God addresses that. He says that...
00:09:54
Speaker
Let's see, where does he say that? It says, the first heaven and the first earth have passed away and the sea was no more. But God says later on in here that we won't remember the former things.
00:10:09
Speaker
So I was thinking I was going to be sad about that, that I would miss those animals. But God tells us in here today that we won't remember those things and we're not going to be sad anymore. There will be no tears.
00:10:23
Speaker
We will not be sad. So although i imagine now that I would be sad, I will not be when I get there. How amazing is that?
00:10:38
Speaker
I saw also the holy city. It was a new Jerusalem. It was coming down from heaven, and it was like a bride with beautiful clothes on.
00:10:52
Speaker
A loud voice came from where the king was. Now God will live with people, and that is where his house will be.
00:11:03
Speaker
They will be his people, and he will be their God.
00:11:09
Speaker
In our Big Bible it says, Behold, the dwelling of God is among men, and he shall tabernacle among them. They shall be his people, and God himself shall be among them and be their God.
00:11:27
Speaker
God will wipe all their tears away. They won't die anymore. They won't cry anymore. They won't hurt anymore.
00:11:38
Speaker
The old way of doing things is gone.
00:11:46
Speaker
Our big Bible says, He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. nor there shall be Nor shall there be any mourning or crying or pain any longer, for the former things have passed away.
00:12:08
Speaker
And the one seated upon the throne said, Behold, I am making all things new. And then he said, write, for these words are trustworthy and true.
00:12:24
Speaker
Our Bible says, write this down. You can trust what I say. it is true.
00:12:35
Speaker
Then he said to me, it is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. to the thirsty i will freely give from the spring of water of life the one who overcomes shall inherit these things and i will be his god and he shall be my son But for the cowardly, and the faithless, and the detestable, and murderers, and sexually immoral, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their lot is in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
00:13:26
Speaker
These are all fulfillments of what God told us and what Jesus told us. God told us about the water of life in Isaiah chapter 55, where he says, Everyone who thirsts, come to the water.
00:13:44
Speaker
And you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Come buy wine and milk without money and without cost. And in John 7, Jesus said in verses 37 and 38, On the last and greatest day of the feast, this was the Feast of Tabernacles, by the way, Jesus stood up and cried out loudly, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
00:14:17
Speaker
Whoever believes in me, as the scripture says, out of his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.
00:14:29
Speaker
These are important because God is affirming that everything that he said way back then will be true.
00:14:41
Speaker
It is happening. It may not have happened but in its entirety. And it may seem like it's a long time coming, but it will happen guaranteed because God says so.
00:15:00
Speaker
And he is faithful and trustworthy and true.
00:15:09
Speaker
Let's see. It is finished, he said. i am the first and the last. This is our version. I am the beginning and the end. Thirsty people can drink from the river of living water.
00:15:23
Speaker
I will give it to them free. People who keep following Jesus get all of this. I will be my God and they will be my children.
00:15:35
Speaker
But people who are not brave enough to follow me go to a different place. And so do people who do not believe and people who kill. So do people who use sex in a wrong way.
00:15:49
Speaker
So do people who do magic. So do people who worship idols and people who lie. Their place will be in the burning acid lake.
00:16:00
Speaker
That is the second death.
00:16:04
Speaker
Then one of the seven angels talked to me. He is the one who had one of the bowls of trouble. He said, Come on, I'll show you the bride.
00:16:16
Speaker
She belongs to Jesus. Then he took me away in the spirit, and we went to a big high mountain. And there he showed me the holy city.
00:16:32
Speaker
It was Jerusalem. It was shining with God's power. it was bright and it was beautiful. It was like beautiful, shiny stones.
00:16:46
Speaker
It was like a clear green stone. I'm going to read our description out of the Big Bible.
00:16:55
Speaker
having the glory of God, her radiance like a most precious stone, like a jasper sparkling like crystal. She had great high wall with 12 gates, and above the gates there were 12 angels.

Jerusalem's Splendor

00:17:14
Speaker
And on the gates were inscribed the names of the 12 tribes of the children of Israel. Three gates on the east, three gates on the north,
00:17:26
Speaker
three gates on the south and three gates on the west. And the wall of the city had 12 foundations. And on them, the 12 names of the 12 emissaries of the lamb.
00:17:42
Speaker
Those were the apostles. The angel speaking with me had a gold measuring rod
00:17:52
Speaker
to measure with. The city was a square. It was as long as it was wide. It was 1,400 miles long.
00:18:05
Speaker
It was 1,400 miles wide when the angel measured it. It was 1,400 miles high. Its walls were 200 feet thick.
00:18:19
Speaker
Wow, that is a huge wall. The wall was made out of clear green stone called jasper, while the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.
00:18:38
Speaker
And the foundations of the city wall were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second, sapphire,
00:18:51
Speaker
the third, Chalcedony, the fourth, Emerald, the fifth, Sardonyx, the sixth, Carnelian, the seventh, Yellow Topaz, the eighth, Beryl, the ninth, Topaz, the tenth, Chrysoprace, the eleventh, Jacin,
00:19:21
Speaker
And the 12th, amethyst. Did anybody hear their birthstone in there? I did, I heard amethyst for mine. And the 12 gates were 12 pearls.
00:19:37
Speaker
Each one of the gates was from a single pearl. Can you imagine the size of that pearl? Oh my goodness. And the street of the city was pure gold, transparent as glass.
00:19:56
Speaker
And guess what? There is no temple in the New Jerusalem because the temple is the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb.
00:20:10
Speaker
And the city has no need for the sun or the moon to shine on it because the glory of God lights it up and its lamp is the Lamb the Lamb.
00:20:23
Speaker
And the nations shall walk by its light. And the kings of the earth shall bring their beautiful things into it. Our big Bible says that they will bring their glory into it.
00:20:37
Speaker
And its gates, they will never be shut. For there shall be no night there. And they shall bring into it the glory and honor of the nations.
00:20:51
Speaker
And nothing unholy. Nothing dirty or sinful will ever enter or get into that city. People who do wrong or lie will not get in.
00:21:04
Speaker
Only people whose names are written in Jesus's book of life can come in.
00:21:14
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading and the description of heaven given to us today.
00:21:23
Speaker
Wow. We have so much beauty to look forward to. i am so in awe that God would be so gracious as to give us this vision, this revelation.
00:21:40
Speaker
Revelation means to reveal. So God revealed some of what heaven looks like when he gave John this vision and allowed him to see it.
00:21:52
Speaker
And John faithfully wrote it down, and he obeyed what God told him to do. So in addition to knowing that God's words and he are faithful and trustworthy and true, we need to remember to obey just like John did as he wrote down every detail he was given so that we could have this beautiful reading for the book of Revelation, this comforting book.
00:22:21
Speaker
It sounds amazing. I know I had always thought of Revelation as just being um full of calamities, just judgments.

Hope and Promise in Revelation

00:22:33
Speaker
But there is so much beauty and promise and joy in Revelation. I know that there is a lot of of evil that's being combated, that we have wars. We have a lot of people who are dying.
00:22:47
Speaker
But we have seen throughout the book of Revelation that we have hope. that we have promise, that we have faith, that we are chosen and called, that those who are faithful to God have a great reward, and that God is giving us springs of water, of living water, free to anybody who comes.
00:23:14
Speaker
So it is my prayer that everybody listening and who has the ahuas the opportunity to hear this message, these books that we've been reading, will come to God and follow him faithfully throughout their lives so that they too may be a citizen in heaven, that their names be written in Jesus's book of life.
00:23:40
Speaker
Ah, what a beautiful reading, don't you think? I hope that you will join me for the conclusion tomorrow. We have one chapter to read tomorrow where we will read about no more night.
00:23:52
Speaker
And they already mentioned today that there would be, that gates would never close by day because they would never have any darkness. And that is because God will be shining and Jesus will be the lamp.
00:24:05
Speaker
And all of the nations will see that light. Won't that be amazing to walk in God's light? With no night? Wow. I've always wished that I could have more day, more hours in my day to get stuff done. i don't know about you. do you ever wish for more time?
00:24:25
Speaker
We're going to have eternal time. ah Gosh, I hope I don't have to-do list while I'm there.
00:24:34
Speaker
Well, thank you so much for joining me. I hope that you have enjoyed today's reading and that you are looking forward to our exciting conclusion as we and as we complete the entire Bible and the book of Revelation tomorrow.
00:24:50
Speaker
I hope that whatever day you've gotten around to listening or watching this video, that you are having a fantastic day and that you are going to be ready for a fantastic new year.
00:25:02
Speaker
I have mentioned in yesterday's reading, but in case you missed it, I am going to be continuing on with different ah podcasting topics and different recordings.

Future Podcast Topics and Community Engagement

00:25:17
Speaker
So I will be continuing throughout next year, and I hope that you will join me for those.
00:25:25
Speaker
recordings I have some messages lined up. They will not be very long. They will typically be pretty short, I'm guessing, and they will be of various topics, tips on how to make lasting lifestyle changes in our spiritual life and in our spiritual walk, as well as things that we want to be aware of as believers so that we do things differently since we are called to be different in the world, as well as focusing on some health and wellness related issues of a spiritual nature as well, and to take care of our physical body as well. I will also have ah some health and wellness messages for us as well.
00:26:12
Speaker
And I will always be incorporating, I think the Bible into most all of our messages. So thank you for, in anticipation of you choosing to continue on with me next year. I'm looking forward to your companionship as I continue reading, or not reading, continue publishing posts.
00:26:32
Speaker
And as you may have found in on YouTube, since most of our audience tends to be on YouTube, the videos, if you have not been around for the whole year, they are marked as made for kids, which actually has nothing to do with the appropriateness of the content. It simply has to do with whether or not YouTube gathers data.
00:26:55
Speaker
when children are watching. So I have that video setting set to made for kids in order for it to be available to pop up in family feeds so that parents can have the opportunity to find this event and listen with their children.
00:27:12
Speaker
And that the audio, as you see, is available for making comments. And so I want to give a shout out to Sandra, my sister Sandra. Thank you so much for commenting yesterday that you enjoyed the message yesterday. And i saw that tonight as I was doing my getting ready to do my recording. So thank you so much, Sandra, for being my sister and for following along. I hope that you are enjoying the entire year's ah reading and if you have missed some of them feel free to start back again at january 1st on youtube it is simply a playlist so you can actually access it as a playlist as the read the bible in one year playlist and then i will have um the regular podcastings that i will do during the year will be under a different playlist but they will still all be posted to the podcast where it will come up on the feed regularly it's just that if you are looking specifically to start at january then you'll want to go to the playlist and then reverse the date. You can select how you want it displayed from oldest to newest so that you can start at January 1st and see that without having to scroll through all of those pages 365
00:28:37
Speaker
Well, I would like to encourage you once again to please click your light button if you are still hanging out with me here today and to help me spread the word about reading God's word.

Speaker
I'm very passionate about this project and I'm very thankful that you have been joining me this year. No matter when you joined me, I'm very thankful that you are here with me and participating and coming back to hear every day's message. I'm so glad that you are hungry for more and more of God's word. but And I hope that you are always encouraged to head up your Big Bible if you would like to read some of the additional details. I try to incorporate a nice balance between our Big Bible and our condensed version so that we can have a very rich picture of what we are reading and have understanding. So I hope that you are happy with my combining of the two as well.
00:29:31
Speaker
But if you are looking for more detail, please always feel free to head up your big Bible if you are hungry for more of God's word, as I hope you will be. ah Well, we know what that light button looks like, don't we? It looks like a thumbs up.
