Today we will continue reading the Book of Revelation with Chapters 15, 16, and 17.

Today we will read about God's final judgments for the earth, and then God will not be angry anymore. The final judgements are directed toward the people who choose to mark themselves with the name and/or number of the beast. We will read about the soon-to-come battle between an ancient beast, kings of the world, and Jesus. Jesus will also have those who are called, chosen, and faithful with Him! This will be a great battle, but we are assured that the Lord of Lords and King of Kings WILL WIN!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the fact that difficult times do not last forever. Even the judgments of God will have a beginning and an end. It an be difficult to endure during difficult times because we feel like they could last forever. But God gives us HOPE. We can endure as long we need to when we have faith, hope and love.

Speaker
We are getting close to the big battle that Jesus has. We are going to be hearing about that battle. We are going to also be hearing today about God's final bowl of judgment that he will have put down onto the earth.
00:02:07
Speaker
And I want to remind us that there is no condemnation for those who are saved by jesus So once again, we will see that God's judgment does not touch the believers. It does not touch those who are whose names are written in his book of life.
00:02:29
Speaker
We're going to be reading that today. And we are going to be reading that Jesus is our Lord and King. He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. And we are going to see that there is going to be a battle, but we are assured of the ending ahead of time. So if you were going to place a bet on this, ladies and gentlemen, this is your tip. Jesus will be the winner of the big fight.
00:02:58
Speaker
He is greater than the one who is in the world. Greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world.
00:03:09
Speaker
And the battle is actually going to be against a beast who is but presently ah sentenced to the abyss. He is not, ah the i think the way they say it is that he's not in existence right now. and But he used to be. And he will be again.
00:03:27
Speaker
But right now, he is not. And when he is allowed to come out, there will be a great battle and it will last for an hour, they say in in Revelation. And I don't know how that equates into into time ah for real, because, you know, what is ah a day to God is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day. So we can tell that it will be a very short period of time.
00:03:55
Speaker
But however long that battle is, Jesus is the winner. We will see that tomorrow. But we will hear about the outcome of how that battle will go today.
00:04:10
Speaker
So let's head into it.

Reading from Revelation: Signs and Judgment

00:04:12
Speaker
Today we are going to be reading Revelation chapters 15, 16, and 17. sixteen and seventeen
00:04:23
Speaker
John says, I saw another great, wonderful sign in heaven. Seven angels were there with the seven last troubles.
00:04:36
Speaker
These were the last because after this, God stops being angry. Remember yesterday we mentioned that despite the fact that these judgments were going on, they would end.
00:04:50
Speaker
They would not go on forever. So we see here that there will be an end as soon as God's final bowl is poured out on the earth.
00:05:03
Speaker
This serves to give us hope. There are three things that are very important that we've learned about. It is faith. hope and love. And we know that the greatest of these is love, but the other two, faith and hope are still very important.
00:05:21
Speaker
God lets us know that the times that, that will be, uh, the time that will be under judgment, is only for a time.
00:05:32
Speaker
It is not to last forever. This gives those who are enduring hope because when you are in the middle of difficult times, it can feel like forever and that it's just never going to end.
00:05:47
Speaker
We are assured here in Revelation that those times will come to an end.
00:05:56
Speaker
There was a sea of glass mixed with fire. People who won over the animal stood by the sea, and they had harps that God gave them.
00:06:09
Speaker
they These people sang Moses' song and Jesus' song. The things you do are great and wonderful.
00:06:22
Speaker
You have all the power. You are fair and true. You are the king of all time. Everyone will look up to you, Lord.
00:06:35
Speaker
All people will show how great you are. You are the only one who is sinless and clean.
00:06:47
Speaker
All nations will worship you. They saw the things that you did were right.
00:06:55
Speaker
Then heaven's worship house opened. Seven angels with the seven troubles came out. They wore clean, shining clothes.
00:07:08
Speaker
A wide gold claw lay across each one's chest. One of the four living beings gave them seven gold bowls.
00:07:22
Speaker
The bowls were full of God's anger. Then the worship house filled with smoke from God's greatness. It was smoke from his power.
00:07:37
Speaker
Nobody could go inside until the seven troubles were over.

God's Anger and People's Refusal to Repent

00:07:44
Speaker
A loud voice came from the worship house. It spoke to the seven angels. Go, it said. Tip God's bowls of anger over.
00:07:58
Speaker
Let what's inside flow out onto the earth.
00:08:03
Speaker
So the first angel tipped his bowl over and it flowed out onto the land. Ugly, hurt places showed up on people who worshipped the animal.
00:08:19
Speaker
They were called boils. The second angel tipped his bowl over and it flowed out onto the sea and the sea turned into blood.
00:08:33
Speaker
All things that lived in the sea died.
00:08:38
Speaker
The third angel tipped his bowl over and it flowed out onto the rivers and the rivers turned into blood too. Then the angel in charge of the water spoke.
00:08:56
Speaker
You live now and you lived before. You are the Holy One. The way you judge is fair and right.
00:09:08
Speaker
They killed your people, so you gave them blood to drink. That's what was coming to them.
00:09:16
Speaker
The altar answered. Yes, Lord of all power, when you judge, it is true and fair.
00:09:28
Speaker
The fourth angel tipped his bowl over, and it flowed out on the sun. Then the sun had power to burn people with fire.
00:09:40
Speaker
It was so hot they were burned. So they said bad things about God. We call that blaspheming. And that's because these troubles were under his power.
00:09:55
Speaker
But people would not say that they were sorry. They would not change. We say the word repent in our big Bible.
00:10:06
Speaker
They would not agree that God is the greatest. Oh, that is so stubborn, isn't it?
00:10:16
Speaker
The fifth angel tipped his bowl over. It flowed over the place where the animal ruled as king. His whole kingdom turned dark.
00:10:29
Speaker
People chewed on their own tongues because they were hurting so badly. Then they said bad things about God because of their pain, but they would not say they were sorry.
00:10:44
Speaker
They would not change.
00:10:49
Speaker
The sixth angel tipped his bowl over. It flowed out on the Euphrates River, and the water dried up. That made a place for kings from the east, and they could come across there.
00:11:07
Speaker
I think it's interesting to note that even in today's day, the Euphrates River is drying up.
00:11:15
Speaker
Then one bad spirit came out of the dragon's mouth. One came out of the animal's mouth. And one came out of the lying prophet's mouth.
00:11:29
Speaker
The spirits looked like frogs. These bad spirits do wonders. They go to the world's kings and they get them to come together to fight.
00:11:43
Speaker
but God has all power. The fight will happen on his great day. Look, I will surprise you like a robber does. But good things will come to people who stay awake.
00:11:59
Speaker
Good things will come to people who are ready.
00:12:05
Speaker
Then the bad spirits brought the kings to a place called Armageddon. And the last angel tipped his bowl over. It flowed out into the air.
00:12:19
Speaker
A voice from the worship house called out loudly, It is finished!

Babylon's Fall in Prophecy

00:12:28
Speaker
Then lightning flashed and thunder rolled and the earth shook hard.
00:12:35
Speaker
The earth never shook that hard before. It was so hard that the great city broke. It broke into three parts. Cities from all nations fell down.
00:12:50
Speaker
And God judged the city of Babylon. He gave the city all his anger. Then all the islands ran away and there were no more mountains.
00:13:04
Speaker
huge hail fell from the sky and each hailstone was about 100 pounds. The hailstones fell on people and people said bad things about God because it was so terrible.
00:13:23
Speaker
One of the seven angels came up to me. He said to me, come on, I will show you the great one who left God. I will show you how she gets into trouble.
00:13:39
Speaker
She sits on lakes and rivers and seas. Earth's kings followed her instead of God, and people were full of the bad things that she did.
00:13:53
Speaker
Then the angel took me away in the spirit, and he took me to a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a red animal.
00:14:07
Speaker
Blasphemous names, bad names against God covered the animal. He had seven heads and he had 10 horns. The woman, she wore purple and red clothes.
00:14:23
Speaker
She shone with gold and beautiful stones. She held a gold cup. But that gold cup was full of ugly things. It was dirty with the bad things that she had done.
00:14:43
Speaker
And here is what was written on the woman's forehead. Mystery. Babylon the Great. The mother of people who leave God.
00:14:55
Speaker
the mother of the ugly things of the earth.
00:15:01
Speaker
The woman was drunk with the blood of God's people.
00:15:09
Speaker
Our big Bible says, the saints and the witnesses of Jesus.
00:15:17
Speaker
I was surprised, totally astounded when I saw the woman. And the angel said to me, Why are you astonished? I will tell you the mystery of the woman.
00:15:30
Speaker
I will tell you about the animal that she is riding. Once the animal was alive, said the angel. He does not live now, but he will come up out of the bottomless pit, and he will go to be torn up.
00:15:50
Speaker
Now some people's names are not in God's book of life, and they will be surprised when they see the animal. It takes a wise mind to understand this.
00:16:04
Speaker
The seven heads stand for seven hills. The woman sits on these hills, and the heads also stand for seven kings.
00:16:18
Speaker
Then there is the animal who lived once. He does not live now, but he is king number eight, and he is with the other seven. He will be torn up.
00:16:32
Speaker
The 10 horns stand for 10 kings. They do not have kingdoms yet, but they will be kings with the animal for one hour. And there is a one reason for them.
00:16:46
Speaker
They will give their power to the animal. He will be in charge. I'm going to share with you what our big Bible says about this.
00:17:02
Speaker
These kings are of one mind and they give their power and authority to the beast. They will come against Jesus in a war.
00:17:14
Speaker
But Jesus, the Lamb, will win over them. And that is because he is Lord of Lords. He is the King of Kings. And the people he chose will be with him.
00:17:29
Speaker
They are the ones who keep following him. They are called and chosen and faithful.
00:17:41
Speaker
The lakes, rivers, and seas stand for people, nations, and languages. The animal and the ten horns will hate the woman, and they will leave her with no clothes on.
00:17:57
Speaker
They will eat her and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to do his will and to be of one mind,
00:18:08
Speaker
and to give their royal power to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled.
00:18:19
Speaker
The woman is the great city that rules the kings of Ur.
00:18:28
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:18:35
Speaker
Revelation is still all about Jesus. oh my gosh, I love this.

Assurance of Jesus' Victory

00:18:41
Speaker
ah We can get so lost in all of the details and trying to decipher, trying to figure out what stands for what.
00:18:50
Speaker
But what it comes down to is that God and Jesus are in control. God's judgment is being poured out onto those who chose to worship the beast and took his name and put it on them or put his number on them.
00:19:12
Speaker
The judgment is for them. God is cleansing the earth. And soon there will be a battle that we will read about. And God tells us ahead of time that Jesus will win this battle.
00:19:31
Speaker
I love it. Oh my gosh. And that is, why does he win? because he is stronger than the one who is in the world and he is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
00:19:43
Speaker
He is above everyone. He is worthy of our worship and our praise and our obedience. And we are his chosen, called faithful people.
00:20:01
Speaker
Amen. You are chosen. You are called. You are faithful.
00:20:12
Speaker
These are wonderful things. And we will be with God or with Jesus at that great battle. We will fight with him. That is so exciting.
00:20:26
Speaker
Babylon is also written about in Jeremiah. I wanted to go back and take a step back and talk about that for just a moment with that cup that she was holding.
00:20:40
Speaker
Let's see.
00:20:50
Speaker
In Jeremiah chapter 51 verse seven, Jeremiah says, Babylon has been a golden cup in the Lord's hand, intoxicating the whole earth.
00:21:03
Speaker
The nations drunk her wine. So the nations are going crazy. So this is what revelation is talking about is that the entire world has been infected by Babylon.
00:21:20
Speaker
And you know what, that's actually, we have the the Tower of Babel as well that was potentially in Babylon. So a lot of trouble has happened because of Babylon.
00:21:31
Speaker
And this goes back to understanding that we need to be good examples as well, because when we are bad examples like Babylon,
00:21:44
Speaker
It spreads like a sickness. So we want to be sure that we are spreading God's love. We are called to love. And we talked about this before we started, that there is faith, hope, and love.
00:22:02
Speaker
We need to model these things because we are God's faithful, chosen, called people. And our names are written in the book of life.

Encouragement to Endure and Stay Faithful

00:22:15
Speaker
So it's a very important responsibility to contrast Babylon and the way of the world, because we are God's chosen, called and faithful people.
00:22:29
Speaker
Well, I hope that you are encouraged and I hope that you are excited to read and come back and hear tomorrow's daily reading when we get to that great battle where Jesus wins.
00:22:40
Speaker
And in tomorrow's reading, we will read about it's that it's all about Jesus, that that's why these prophecies are made. So there's a little bit of a spoiler alert for you.
00:22:51
Speaker
ah Oh, it's so exciting. Well, thank you so much for joining me. I hope that you are encouraged, that you have hope, that you know that we are on the winning side, that we need to endure whatever it is we are going through at any point in time. And we need to be faithful to God and make decisions that are what he wants us to do, not what we want to do, so that we can remain God's faithful people.
00:23:20
Speaker
We want to make sure that we are making Jesus the most important one in our lives. He bought us with his blood. He is the one who is going to do battle at the end of time here. And so this is important for us.
00:23:36
Speaker
We need to be sure that we are obeying and serving. the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, so that we are on the winning side. That's a lot of judgment and a lot of anger that's going to be poured out onto the earth. We want to make sure that nobody turns away from God.
00:23:56
Speaker
Like Babylon, she turned away and leads people away from God. We don't want to

Leading Others to Eternal Life

00:24:03
Speaker
do that. We want to let our light shine and lead people to God, to God's kingdom.
00:24:10
Speaker
And Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. Eternal life is a long time. So we want to be sure that we are a part of that eternal life and that we encourage others to do ah to believe and to be part of that life as well.
00:24:30
Speaker
Well, I hope that you will join me for tomorrow's reading, and I hope that you are having a fantastic day, whatever day you are getting around to hearing or listening or watching today's daily reading from the Day by Day Kids Bible for December 27th. I think I have the right date here. I'm losing track of my days. Today the Not the 27th. Today is the 28th.
00:24:53
Speaker
not the twenty seventh today is a twenty eight I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day, and I will be here for tomorrow's reading. I'll catch you then.
