Jarrod Dyke: I get when I'm... when I'm talking about one or the other because, of course, if you haven't been here, I coach a high school team. and Also, I'm obviously doing my my coaching in the fitness industry as well. so Uh, Without further ado, let's get to it.
Jarrod Dyke: So I have been. So in recent times I've been getting. The. a couple of funny reels that come across my social media and It's...
Jarrod Dyke: They're all to do with... how managers and ah HR deal with certain situations that are just absurd in some in some cases. And I won't say the name of the accounts because... That's not what the the point of this is. The point is Most of them, the I'd say the worst ones that I've seen so far. And this is where it comes into.
Jarrod Dyke: um coaching especially The worst ones I've seen so far. are all A doubt? that that these managers have, or these bosses have. of what.
Jarrod Dyke: the person is saying that they're making up some things that are really really absurd and or outright just being in charge. ah But... A few of them have more to do with not believing what someone's telling you, like if yeah like a child is very, very sick and might be in the hospital.
Jarrod Dyke: want to believe that so where I'm going with this. ah My big thing as a coach of a sports team. i thought i I coach boys primarily, is...
Jarrod Dyke: If one of these guys is gonna feed me a completely horseshit story, sorry, sorry kids um Just a completely absurd and false story about you know My grandfather's in the hospital and, you know.
Jarrod Dyke: Is very sick and this might be the last time I see him if they're feeding me that and it's a lie It's on them honestly because here's the other option if I don't believe that I am absolutely the jerk.
Jarrod Dyke: I am absolutely the biggest biggest ass you possibly could be in that case. Worst case scenario. from in my situation in terms of if i believe that and it's not True, I believe the liar.
Jarrod Dyke: The other side of it is I'm a jerk and I didn't Believe what was going on and I didn't support the the worst thing of this whole thing is I'm there for, I personally am there, and I believe this is how managers should be. and you know If you're running ah your own business and you have employees, this is what I really think you need to just consider.
Jarrod Dyke: being It's so sad to see that how people have lost faith in. Humans and stop believing in people And. So. in the end yeah If something terrible is happening and you're a coach of a team.
Jarrod Dyke: you're Best option. Always. is to support That player that person Always. And anything less than that. I don't wanna hear it.
Jarrod Dyke: No. And I don't, whatever. stupid ifs, buts situations that's come up. It's the 0 .1 % that I honestly don't care about and I'm not banking on.
Jarrod Dyke: Every other the time. You should be supporting that person. So it's if Again, going back to it. if A player comes to me and has you know relays a tragedy that has happened to them Yeah. Something awful has happened to them.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm gonna give them benefit out even if it's a I You know, I blew a tire, so i I'm... on my way to practice, but I'm going to be late. I'm gonna believe them Okay. Karma is gonna catch up with you always so if they're gonna do that to to me and lie to me about that, it'll come back for them. Go back for them, undoubtedly.
Jarrod Dyke: So I'm not worried about that. My... Because even in minor situations like that where... You know, blowing a tire sucks and having to change it and wait and whatever stress goes through the roof and you just want to not add stress to them. And then the worst of it, if a family member is ailing and or is passing or has passed.
Jarrod Dyke: The better option... is to always give them the support that they need. Because that sadly they may not get it in any other place. You have to just consider that You hope that they're getting it in other places, but...
Jarrod Dyke: They may not. other than their own family, which you you would assume. But even then, never know. um So. My thing is... you know Give them your support. have your Have your coaches give give them their support. and then If they...
Jarrod Dyke: care to open up to the team. Make sure the team supports them. and And even if you're... not trying to reveal too much about. what's going on with this player, this person's situation.
Jarrod Dyke: But you still want the team to support them. You can probably give, you know, just let the... team know like hey I can't go into detail right now about what's going on with so and so. but Um...
Jarrod Dyke: We should be supportive of him. And if anybody, if he. if he, she, whoever comes to you we should be We should be supportive of them. and we should do our best to have their back because The...
Jarrod Dyke: It's possibly the worst thing that's happening in their life at the their young life at this point could be happening to them And to... all of a sudden have people questioning whether or not it's real.
Jarrod Dyke: Horrible. Simply horrible. Dope Correct response response is always going to be. Hey. You take care of your family. You take care of you.
Jarrod Dyke: Don't worry about it. We got you. We're here for you. It doesn't need to be more than that. um If they come for you come come to you for more and they need more so they want to talk or whatever, that's different. but Something as simple as that doesn't need to be more than that as a coach ah in a manager position, whatever it is, any sort of.
Jarrod Dyke: Um, Any sort of superior position like that? That's what needs to be done. Not... questioning whether the validity of someone and and asking worse, asking proof of it.
Jarrod Dyke: oh No, no, no. Yeah. The only thing I have to proof of personally is... a clearance note from a doctor. if someone's been hurt for one reason or another. That's the only thing I ask for personally in terms of that stuff.
Jarrod Dyke: That's it. So. um So that's what I got for today. Bottom line. Don't. go out there and have no faith and no belief in people because that's just a horrible way to go about things especially if you're in a position of managing and or leading.
Jarrod Dyke: never going to end well you're only going to lose people faster than you than you gain them because you won't just lose the one person that may say screw this i'm not sticking around anymore if people see it and or hear about it which they probably will let's be honest You're probably lose more So.
Jarrod Dyke: Default 2. Believe them. Support them. If they're gonna be a ah liar. Karma will come back and get them, don't you worry. Though that's that's right where I'm at. No believe that's how it should be and i know there's a lot of other that agree with me so I'll leave with that.
