Speaker: the The hardest question you could ask any person who plays a lot of video games, what is your favorite video game, your favorite video game character, and your favorite video game soundtrack?
Speaker: Well, for me, favorite video game is actually Split currently. For longest time, it's been FF14 because the story, the Gantt fight, funny enough, the pick is very prevalent to what's going on.
Speaker: But the story, it's been with me since 2017, and it's how I met a lot of my friends that I currently have. um But the other game that it's tied with is actually one I got into recently, Deadlock.
Speaker: Oh, that's... Is that the um the the new Valve game? Yeah, the mo it's a sort of combination of League of Legends with Valorant with third person. Right.
Speaker: It's got a good story, and it's come yeah a long way. let's I love it for just... Well, it's fun.
Speaker: And I like it better than League and Valid. think there's a lot of things better than League, not gonna lie. Yeah. but they They're doing amazing things with the game. Anyway. The soundtrack...
Speaker: ah It's actually a tie as well. FF14 because yeah the primals in the Arcadian. the The Arcadian tracks go ah surprise are like very well done. They're very well done this for the raid series.
Speaker: Except I'm going insane because of the ah the brothers. I'm going insane hearing them in the Savage. I'm going insane with the fuck it i well the fucking blowjo the fucking blowjob brothers as everyone on Lies calling them.
Speaker: I think Yoshi P knows what we call them. Yeah. But the the primals, they're incredible. But the other game that is tied is the Outer Wilds.
Speaker: I still have yet to play the Outer Wilds. I plan on it. Never look up anything. No, exactly. Like, I have not looked up. Like, i know, like, the only thing I know is that you're in space. and that that's I mean it still have not completed the game, and I want to. I have avoided spoilers because, as they say, it is something. It's like a once-in-a-lifetime video game. That's what I yeah know.
Speaker: And my favorite character is actually Rasputin from Psychonauts 1 and 2. Nice. Very solid choice. Mostly because I feel somewhat similar to the character.
Speaker: Outcast doesn't really know... hours No, well, my brain runs. My brain is weird in the fact that it imagines so many scenarios that it tends to actually predict something that's going to happen.
Speaker: to the point where I don't respond emotionally to it because I've already gone through also so a little little bit of clairvoyance then okay okay yeah okay we we take that I guess that's yeah but also I just love i just love psychonauts one because it's what my dad loved playing oh nice yep all right uh so moving from the low screen we now go into hot takes crann what is your hottest video game take oh How hot and spicy is it? Let's hear it. I'm ready. ah
Speaker: I don't even know what you screamed there. um My hot take, I personally wanted GTA 6 to fail because I personally believe that if it didn't, ah every AAA company would try and do you $100 or more. Yeah, that's, I mean, it's not a bad, it's i don't I don't know if I would consider that a hot take, considering like there's a lot of people that do want that, have that take as well right now.
Speaker: So, I mean, hey. Actually, better hot take. I liked Fallout 4. You know what? all of the bugs. You know what? I agree with that. I liked Fallout. Now, granted, Fallout 4 is the only Fallout that I've properly played.
Speaker: um So it's like I don't have a basis to go off of when I played Fallout 4, but I liked Fallout 4. I enjoyed Fallout 4. Now, here's a take I think every everyone can agree upon.
Speaker: Dead Space EA ruined Dead Space 3. i Again, i I've never played the Dead Space games. I really didn't get on them. Just play the remake? I never played them.
Speaker: Get the remake and get to the remake changes none of the story, but it gives Isaac the voice actor from Dead Space 2, and his actions actually make sense because he gets told, go to the entered room and fix this. it's like, fine, but can you two stop fucking arguing? Mm-hmm.
Speaker: He's not the silent child in the divorce settlement. All right. Well, that's our introduction. It's now time for us because, folks, we have a lot to cover today. So much happened from Gamescom to GTA 6 to a thing that we missed last week just because of when we recorded the last episode.
Speaker: And that's our headline of the week. Kingdom Hearts at the D23 panel and more announcements within Kingdom Hearts. Holy moly, am I eating good?
Speaker: ah Let's start. First, a 90-second teaser trailer ah came out Before the Kingdom Hearts panel had started, it was like the day before. There was like a 90-second teaser trailer that confirmed Coco is going to be one of the first worlds that we go to in Kingdom Hearts 4.
Speaker: They also confirmed Strelitzia and Sigurd are going to be two of Sora's companions. Even though we've seen them in the trailers like visually, Sora actually called out their name. We see Donald and Goofy going to Hades in the Underworld to look for Sora. And they really put out a release window of late 2027, which is massive because nobody thought that this game would be coming out next year.
Speaker: But it's like, oh, but it could get delayed. So let's go to that the next day where there was the D23 Kingdom Hearts panel. It was divided into two parts. The first part was the dev part. ah Both of these, of course, ah were also hosted and moderated by Cleo Thompson, who whose name you might recognize if you're a a fan of the movie Holes, as they played Hector Zeroni, or Zero, in the movie.
Speaker: ah First surprise, as they were bringing out the devs that were on the card listed to come out for the panel, they're like, And special guest and surprise appearance, Tetsuya Nomura! What do you mean Nomura's here in California? What?!
Speaker: We were eating good! you were We were eating so good that Nomura himself had to come out and serve us the Kentucky Fried Chicken! Goddamn, Nomura! Ah!
Speaker: He knew we had been waiting. So he comes out and he's like, oh, we also have a full four minute trailer for you. oh Roll the clip.
Speaker: So in the news trailer, ah we are in Quadratum. That is the place that Sora is with Strelitzia, Sigurd, and Volley, ah who is wearing the face mask. ah They bring up the dandelions as well, which a lot of this stuff the Folks, you're going to hate me when I say this, but if you have not played Kingdom Hearts Union Cross or Kingdom Hearts Dark Road, you're going to need to because those are basically required readings at this point for the games going forward.
Speaker: So get on that. You got a year now. And there's a YouTube channel that actually dubbed ah ah the cross entire story in two parts. Very well done from them. So definitely go check that out. Anyway, so we get to see some quadratum stuff.
Speaker: Then we get to play as Mickey in this game. ah he Mickey is in Scala at Kylum, which was where Xehanort and Erakis grew up before going off to be their own Keyblade Masters. Mickey is looking for a book to find a way to help Sora. And you get to play as Mickey going through these book worlds, which is really cool.
Speaker: We get to play as Donald and Goofy in the Underworld. They still have that confrontation with Hades. ah you guys We get to see us actually playing as Donald and Goofy. Then there's a clip of Luxu and young what looks to be young Xehanort. They're interacting.
Speaker: And then the trailer ends. Sora, we see some more Coco stuff as well. ah Sora sees like ah like a holographic version of Goofy and Donald appearing in Quadratum. But at the end of the trailer, as just as like some Heartless are about to attack Sigurd and Shrelitzia, motherfucking Riku comes out and saves the day! And Riku! Ah!
Speaker: Oh my god. i am just, I am, ah it was like so much to take in. And and to at the end of all, at all they're like, oh, so 2027 window, but obviously there's going to be, there might be a delay. He's like, the more I fucking said, yeah, we're not pushing the date back. It's going to release next year.
Speaker: I'm sorry. I'm very excited. ah And so that was basically that has like talked about like Dev cycle questions about like developing the games, ah how development went for King of Hearts for like all the other games. And then there was a second part of the panel where they had ah the voice actors of they had Haley Joel Osment and David Gallagher come out voices of Sora Riku. There was a third person at the panel too, but I do not remember who they were or who they voiced.
Speaker: or their role in all of it, but because the other two were kind of just more important, they did some live voice acting, but they didn't really do a lot of like announcements themselves. ah Also, a Kingdom Hearts anime was announced that's also in the works.
Speaker: ah The protagonist is not Sora or anyone from the main like console games, but people are theorizing based on the kill silhouette and the Keyblade that was shown, it's the character Helgi from Kingdom Hearts Dark Road, who is an upperclassman of Xehanort and Eraqus's.
Speaker: I should have said Erakis and Xehanortz. That would have rolled off the tongue a lot better. And then to wrap it all up, ah tragedy struck the following day where news came out that Hayden Panettiere had sadly passed away. And Hayden Panettiere was the original voice actor of Kairi in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, eventually leaving the role later on for Alison Stoner to take part in.
Speaker: But she did also voice Shion in Dream Drop Distance. And that was everything Kingdom of Hearts related that happened like two weeks ago. And I am very excited to see more because it does mean we're probably going to get like trailers revealing some of the worlds a bit more over the next year now.
Speaker: And I am very excited to see what they show. I hope that they don't show too much because that was one of the downfalls of Kingdom Hearts 3. Like, i think 3 is a great game, but they kind of showed way too much when they were doing the trailers for that game. especially since like all the stuff they were showing was the stuff from the keyblade graveyard in the finale of the game.
Speaker: Like just don't do that. And we're fine. Grant, what are your thoughts on all the kingdom hearts news? You a Kingdom Hearts fan at all? you You play the games at all?
Speaker: ah Let me see. Let me look at the Kingdom Hearts collections in my Steam library. The old PlayStation 2 guide. me playing as a kid. And, oh, hey you remember how the first boss in Kingdom Hearts used to be purple?
Speaker: Darkseid used to be purple? and Not that. The guard armor. The guard armor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. And the ah the um the second world's boss got changed.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, the the the Wonderland boss, yeah. No one believed me the first, the Traverse Town boss got changed. So to be fair, no one played the original Kingdom Hearts on PlayStation 2. Well, that will a few people did, like, obviously, but it's just like... i had Drust to join me when I was playing for Kingdom of Hearts 1.
Speaker: Oh my god. But I am excited and I have got to um i've got to save up money for a computer upgrade. For many, many reasons. Gotta make sure we can run Kingdom Hearts 4 120 frames per second.
Speaker: We want all the frames of Sora and Riku Yaoi on the screen. God, no. One true pair in Sora and Riku. God. no i very This is very exciting news. like This is like 20. Here's the thing as well. 2027 is a loaded year from everything that we know is coming out already. And now Kingdom Hearts 4 is just another one that's getting added to that pile.
Speaker: Now question. Do you think it'll be out before the game of the year selections? That's good question. And if it is from the what we've seen, do you think it would have a good chance?
Speaker: So I think so it's a release window of late 2027. So we're looking between an October and November release date if I'm being realistic because if they said holiday it would be November December but they said late.
Speaker: So I'm predicting either between late September to I'm to any time in November. And November is the risky part. I really hope it's not a November release because I would like to see it considered for the game awards. I don't know if it would be nominated for game of the year because there's just so much other big things coming out that I don't know if Kingdom Hearts 4 would be nominated. Oh, no, it would be good. Well, if it came out after selection, it wouldn't have to go up against GTA 3. Yeah, exactly. Because everything is going to going up against you. Here's the thing, though. And I've said this before. I think GTA 6 coming out when it does for the for the award shows that choose their game of the years or choose their nominations for all the awards prior to like by like I think it's November 10th or 15th is like the cutoff.
Speaker: for the game shows that like extend that to like end of November, obviously GTA 6 going to win like Game of the Year or like something. ah if it's of Obviously, of course, if it's good. Because obviously, there are a lot of things, and I will get into it when we do talk about the GTA 6 stuff. ah There are some things I think that might hold it back, but ah realistically, with how much hype is behind this game and how much like like the average consumer...
Speaker: like even the non-gamer is going to consume this game, it's going to be ridiculous that it will probably it will probably win awards. Now, I believe the actual, the game awards hosted by Keighley, I believe their nomination process ends in, it's like early November, so I believe it misses the deadline because the game isn't properly out, so it cannot be nominated. Now, they might bend to that rule this year. I don't know.
Speaker: they Because they absolutely could bend that rule this year and the game could ah just be nominated for this year. And then it's like, okay, it's basically just a wash of a game awards this year.
Speaker: If it doesn't, I don't know if GTA 6 has that strong of a chance because, and remember, it's not the public voting, it's game journalists. yeah there are And here's the thing, other games can come out that they might like a lot more than GTA 6 because you know they have to look at things fairly and evenly and 6 will be, not that it'll be old news, it'll be older news by the time it comes around again next year.
Speaker: Yeah, and also it's it's a niche kind of game for certain people to play. I wouldn't say it's niche. is GTA is probably the most accessible game as long as you have a parent that is willing to buy the game for you you're under the age of 18. Not that kind of niche. I mean, the um what people want in a game.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, there that's true as well, yeah. but only i'm will be of It's a very wait and see situation yeah with with that, obviously.
Speaker: ah and like, the next year is already, like, so loaded with so much other things that, like, I think Kingdom of Hearts 4 would be nominated for Best RPG, realistically. Oh, yes. And probably Best Music.
Speaker: I was about to say Best Music and or Best Soundtrack. It will have a good few nominations to it. And we also this also means we're getting a new Yutada Hikaru song.
Speaker: Oh, yeah. Because it's a new mainline title, which means we're going to get something good. as long ah i I'm going to say this. As long as it's better than Face My Fears, I think we're good for it. As long as the opening song is better than Face My Fears, we're fine. Because Face My Fears was okay, but I was also younger, and I thought it was good. But when I listen back on it now, I'm like, I don't know if they really needed Skrillex there.
Speaker: Oh, yeah. Now, I have a question, Tony. Yeah. Do you think we will see any of the other characters from...
Speaker: Kingdom Hearts 3 besides Donald Goofy Mickey and Riku? you think any of the other Keyblade Masters will also make an appearance? So I think if we're looking at like ah like original characters in Kingdom Hearts that would make an appearance in this game, I think Luxu, sorry not Luxu, Luxord or whatever his real name turns out to be will make an appearance. I also think there's a chance we'll see Marluxia slash Lorium and Elrina slash Larkseen.
Speaker: oh yeah, because aren't they the original? Because they're the original dandelions. Wasn't it that, um I'm trying to remember, a of Ventus. He is even older than the dandelions. Yes, but also Ventus, Terra, and Aqua, as we found out, did go back to the world of darkness to try to find something to help Sora. So I don't know if we'll see them in the game per se, Maybe an end credit scene where they do something to that trio again. And God, our fucking hearts are, I think if the moral does that, we're all going to yell at tomorrow again.
Speaker: But yeah it's like, I don't, I think like those characters, the, the, the form, the and the character I would like to see is fucking Demix. Cause what? the ah I want to know who, what Demix is. Real Dave is.
Speaker: He only has four letters in his name. What's his real name. It's Ed. It's Ed. It's Eddie. adam I do.
Speaker: One more question. Yeah. Who do you think the masters of masters identity? I don't. you know So you see, I saw a theory, tick tock like earlier this week that said, what if Sora is the master of masters in this next, these next couple of games are setting up Sora to time travel back in time only to, for him to confront the master masters to realize it's himself ah because that was the only way he could save himself was to put everybody through everything that I don't know. It's like that was a theory I saw, but like I genuinely do not know who the master and masters could be.
Speaker: How I think is I think it probably is that an original character. How I kind of always thought it I was... I'm one of those that believe Sora is a master masters. It's not our Sora. Essentially, Sora is always destined to be a Keyblade Master.
Speaker: Essentially... The Master Masters is the first iteration of Sora. His timeline basically went to hell in a handbasket, and he figured out where it all went wrong. He became a Keyblade Master, went back in time, and basically knew what was going to happen.
Speaker: Became the Master of Masters, and essentially, by changing the future... He was basically, because remember, i forget what it is that basically was telling the story. The Master of Masters did something, told his disciples, hey I'm going to go away.
Speaker: And he disappeared as if he never existed. Well, what is the only other character that disappeared as if he never existed because he altered time? Sora. zora Both of them alter time because they knew the events were going to happen. And because of that, the Master Masters knew he succeeded because now Sora exists in Quadratum, a place where if you break the rules, you end up.
Speaker: Yeah, but all the other dandelions are there too, and they didn't really break the rules. They just kind of died. It could be a sort of crossroads. Also, i feel... Wait...
Speaker: Oh yeah, but I feel like this is showing us one thing. There are multiple worlds of death because if Coco exists... Yeah, I think we're going to see a lot death-heavy themes with with Kingdom Hearts 4. I feel like like it's just like super obvious, but like people are also saying like there's the possibilities are like, we're going to go to Zootopia and like a lot of other modern places.
Speaker: um It's like, well, okay, but like again, it's a very wait and see. We'll have to just... But I am excited, honestly. I've been this excited since Kingdom Hearts 2.
Speaker: i was a kid. Nice. All right, well, with that, we have a lot of other shit to talk about. Let's dive into all of that with The Week in Review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's The Week in Review.
Speaker: And starting off, some of the games that came out these last two weeks, you had Mortal Shell 2, Sleigh Blade, Combo Lands, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2, Resonance of Plague Tale Legacy, and Star Wars Zero Company. Those are just some of the games that came out these past two weeks. Sleigh Blade is very fun. It's a roguelike Beyblade game where you basically build a Beyblade, you go out, you earn parts to make your Beyblade better.
Speaker: you make money and you try to win the tournament. And then there's different like ah obstacles that you can turn on from like a dog stepping in the arena to breaking your bay instantly or other hazards that can be ah it turned on run by run. And then a game that I've been playing a lot of recently is combo lands, a roguelike city builder where you build buildings, they combo into each other and big number goes up and sound effects go burr.
Speaker: All right, into the video game news. Starting off, the GTA 6 extended showcase on August 27th, exclusively on Netflix, unless you you know you waited like 30 minutes and everybody re-uploaded it to their channels for you to watch without getting a Netflix subscription, went up.
Speaker: And oh boy, there is a lot. First and foremost, you can pet the dog. Can I pet that dog? You can you can't pet the dog. 10 out of 10 game.
Speaker: The game is running at 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. If you care about frames, that's what you need to know. Now, going into the first look at gameplay, we got to see gunplay. We got to see the cover system. We got to see the UI, and we got to see the weapon wheel. There's also a new accessory wheel for hats and face wear, so to make it easy to put on disguises when you're robbing a store.
Speaker: ah The ability to switch between Lucia and Jason, the two the game's two protagonists, ri that returns from GTA five ah You now have options when you choose to steal a car. Like when you go up to a car to steal it, you'll have like two button prompts instead of just one.
Speaker: Or instead of just hitting like the wire, or the triangle button steal car, you actually have two choices to either do it silently or do it loud, ah which is nice. I think that's that's kind of nice, not a bad feature.
Speaker: ah you you now have They're bringing back... um the like l RPG in quotation marks elements that San Andreas had where if you go to the gym or eat food you'll get fitter or fatter they're bringing that back in a sense so that's kind of neat Obviously, there's a bunch of new TV programming original to watch a parodied Arby's Meat Mountain with one of the commercials that they showed.
Speaker: We got to see driving and the little mini map. We got to see some hand-to-hand combat, which looks a lot more in-depth or like a lot more ah evolved.
Speaker: ah Six stars, wanted level returns. We have not seen this in a game since... People are saying since like Chinatown Wars, but I thought it was in San Andreas as well, but I might be wrong about that.
Speaker: Um, also cops can, there's now like also different red icons that can appear under your wanted level. Um, that basically tells cops, no, uh, what gun you used, what clothes you're wearing, what car you're in if you're with, uh, your partner or not. And if you've been caught on like CCTV footage, uh, so there's like different levels to like how wanted you are and whatnot. Aside from just the star level.
Speaker: Uh, we also got to see, um, a bit of boat driving on the swamps, and then a bunch of side activities from basketball, scuba diving, working out at the gym, swimming, kayaking, going to the strip club, baby! you you actually get to see Jason make it rain ah instead of just tossing like the few chains that you did in 5. You could actually fucking make it rain.
Speaker: ah We got to see some street racing, ah robbing stores, a shooting range. ah There's also another parody of Kickstreamer Neon, ah where he was in the trunk of a car, and then he live-streamed you getting chased by the police.
Speaker: um And it was basically 30 minutes of that. They showed off a couple of missions, showing the various things. And honestly, all in all, it looked pretty good.
Speaker: it was It was good stuff. I'm not to say it was bad. It was good stuff that we got to see. Now, because they got this finally aired, an embargo was lifted, and a bunch of game journalists, specifically IGN, I know was one of them, got to talk about their time at Rockstar HQ. And not that they got hands-on at the game, but they got like a more in-depth, closer-look demo and more details.
Speaker: Uh, first, the relationship between Jason and Lucia is a key part of this game. ah There are things that you'll do that will determine how their relationship goes throughout the game. So, you know, like, what your partner will send a text to you. respond to that If you respond to that text, you'll be in good graces. If you don't respond to that text, so no, you made them mad.
Speaker: ah You'll have, like, options if you're out to together to hold hands or shit like that. So for a lot of gamers, this will be their first time actually having a girlfriend. o ah And this is kind it's kind of an important thing. Like, I don't know how badly it affects like the partner chemistry of like what they'll do for you if you're out together and you're like in a shootout or whatnot.
Speaker: So don't know how, like how important it is to gameplay, but like to like the role play elements. I mean, there's going some people that like that because of the role play elements to it.
Speaker: But i feel like that's one thing that a lot of people are not going to care for. Second, There is a new profiling system similar to Red Dead's honor system, specifically Red Dead Redemption 2's honor system.
Speaker: ah From Rob Nelson, the head of development, he said, quote, there isn't a right or wrong rate ah right or wrong way to play this game, but consistent actions may have an impact in terms of how the world reacts to you and how the narrative plays out.
Speaker: This... I don't know how I feel about because I don't know how in depth this means. Cause for those who don't know, so red dead redemption two has an honor system where basically, you know, if you kill a bunch of people, go all murder hobo.
Speaker: Uh, you're like, you're going to like, if there's like a cop or like a sheriff coming your way, they'll shoot on sight type shit. People will fear you. But like, you could also like go to like the next town over, wave to a bunch of people and redeem your honor and shit like that.
Speaker: The fact that a system like that is coming into a GTA, a game that being a murderhobo is encouraged. It has been a way people play this game for years and years.
Speaker: And you're making this like morally like, hey, you can still do that, but... I don't know if you really want to kind of way. i don't like that.
Speaker: I kind of don't. I think that now here's the thing. If it's more of like, if, if it's more of a thing where it's just minor where like NPCs, if they see you will run on sites,
Speaker: or like they'll give you like the cold shoulder or whatever, fine. But if it's affecting like everything in the world, it even like affects the story in some kind of way? I don't fucking like that.
Speaker: I really don't. I think that's stupid for Grand Theft Auto, the game that's like the open sandbox game where you can do everything and you're kind of limiting that shit.
Speaker: Like, other games get away with doing that because they're not murder-hobo games. They're RPGs with so so much more to it. Like, obviously, like, Cyberpunk or, like, Witcher and shit, where it's like, you know, doing the good thing. Or, like, even Fable, where, like, you could do the good or the bad, where it's, like... But Fable's like... Fable's is like, yeah, everything is affected with how you do that. But you can also, like, like multiple save files to do, like, a good route and a bad route for shit like that. And you're saying that, like, if I wanted...
Speaker: play the game, go on a murderhomo frenzy, I better be able to save the game, do that, and reload that save so that way nothing bad is affected, I'm gonna be fucking pissed!
Speaker: And I would like it genuinely would be, because what if I just want to do that to burn off some steam? Now, is it a bit sociopathic? Yeah. but Just a little. Just a little, but like, fuck...
Speaker: When i I was doing that when I was a child, a lot of kids were that bought them GTA 5. So like, it's nothing new. you want to know what I hope it does?
Speaker: If, say, you become more murderous and just murder civilians willy-nilly, hope, like, after you do it more and more, every time you get the cops called on you, it just increases where you're wanted level to the point where you do enough horrible shit, um you steal one car, level six. However, it's unconfirmed ah Some people said that it's not real and just rumors, but it's at this point, there's actually no real knowing if it's, if it's real or not.
Speaker: um And rockstar still has yet to actually put a stop to cyber leaks. I, I will say I've looked into the situation myself. Cyber leaks never actually stated they had a dead man switch. In fact, it was a rumor set up by someone else. Now, if he was, if the group was smart, they would, after that fact, realize maybe we should, but it's unknown whether or not. The other thing is, at first, he said they stated that the reason they were doing this is in protest to not only ah take two,

Holy shit. Worms is alive. Worms Galactic Tactics. A new 3D arena Worms. Like taking like classic, sort of like Worms 3D where you kind of have like a 3D board instead of just a 2D screen.
Speaker: Very similar to that. It's set to come out in 2027. Also, a new 2D Worms game is in development or slash a remake of Worms.

It actually also announced that they've extended to the demo ah to have a bit more in it when the game comes out September 4th.
Speaker: And the lastly, they showed off Mariachi Legends, which looks like a Metroidvania, coming out April 27th, 2027.
Speaker: And that was the pre-show. Overall, a very solid pre-show. ah a like There were more games that I was hyped for in the pre-show than the main show. And that's somehow how it always goes with Gamescom for me.
Speaker: I don't know why. That's just how it be. Now we get on to the main show. And they start off by showing this game called Noticefall. Very Monster Hunter vibes, co-op action.
Speaker: And then motherfucking Hoyoverse shows up in the credit. And I'm like, what the fuck do you mean this is a Hoyoverse game? Bullshit. is a I don't trust this game anymore because of that, because that means this is going to be free to play and heavy with microtransactions.
Speaker: Fuck that. I didn't really trust it as much. Mostly because when I look at some of the boss moves, I see one thing. like, wait a minute. This this is just Elden, reskinned Elden Ring.
Speaker: There is one move in particular. I'm just like, that's just Redon the Star Scourge coming down as a meteor. ah There's a metal zip literally Melania is one of the things you fight.
Speaker: Yeah, so I don't know really how i feel about this. Obviously, we'll have to wait and see when this will get released and if it's going to be free. if it's If they actually make this worth money, then maybe yeah and maybe that maybe we'll have a different take on it because obviously they won't put micro transacts so all those microtransactions in a gotcha system in a paid game, right? Yeah.
Speaker: Right. Oh, God. Next, we got a trailer for Rainbow Six Tactics, a like XCOM style tactics game with Rainbow Six. 15 of the Rainbow Six Siege cast will appear in the game, and this comes out next year, 2027.
Speaker: We also got a brand new campaign trailer and villain reveal for Gears of War E-Day coming out October 6th. Oh boy, I'm looking forward to that. Especially because it means another bad guy that just aura farms on us all. Especially by dumping emulsion fluid on your face.
Speaker: And oh boy, does it look like it hurts. Yeah. Oh, we then got brand new trailer for Ananta, that free to play big open world like GTA anime style game.
Speaker: I still don't know how to feel about this game. with everything they've shown, I don't know how to feel about this game. Genuinely. i have no clue how I should feel about this game.
Speaker: It comes out January 15th, 2027 free to play. I don't know how I should feel about that. I just genuinely don't know how to feel. I'm willing to give it a try. Same.
Speaker: And honestly, i will go in with a blank mindset. And if it's good, I will say this is actually pretty good. If the swinging mechanics like are like Spider-Man, will give it raving reviews.

We got another trailer for Silent Hill Townfall, and I believe it also ah showed the cast of the game and who's playing Goo. That comes out September 24th. Another brief trailer for Residents of Plague Tale Legacy.
Speaker: ah Sea of Remnants got another pre-registered Now trailer with another song by goth Jared Leno again. ah Crimson Desert, that you know that big game that came from the developers of like Black Desert Online.
Speaker: um that came out earlier this year that people were like, oh, this is going to be game of the year. who And now nobody talks about it anymore. is getting an enhanced edition, adding new story moments, expanded voiceovers, and all the post-launch content all in one a bundle.
Speaker: cool, I guess, but I really don't care about that game. So moving on tides of annihilation got a new another new trailer that actually showed ah the new voice actor lead ah voicing the character. we got a bit more details that you fight monsters using the power to summon the Knights of the round ah to help you fight them. These monsters and stuff o looks cool. Looks all right.
Speaker: i don't know if it's a game for me, but it looks all right. ah We got a a trailer for a game called Loft Song, which gives me huge Journey vibes, if that makes sense. Like it like it looks and feels like Journey with like a few darker things this time, but it looks detailed.
Speaker: And then we got news about Mega Man! Mega Man! Mega Man Dual Override showed us a bit of new gameplay, some new forms, and a new enemy called Twinkle Girl. The game is still set for 2027, and then they flash banged us with a Mega Man skin coming later to Progmata.

Speaker: ah There was no note if what if it was coming to the West at all. A new trailer for Metro 2039 out February And then Snoop Dogg appeared, not on stage, but in game as he is the new elusive target in Hitman from August 27th to September 26th.
Speaker: Well, of course he's elusive. You can't find him in the smoke clouds. and that and and ah yeah he ah Walks into a smoke cloud, teleports halfway across the map. That's his ability. Ion 2 got a new trailer. That's a new MMO coming out October 5th.

Speaker: Uh, we got another new trailer for 1666 Amsterdam announcing that the game is now in early access. However, I gotta disclose something to all of you about 1666 Amsterdam.
Speaker: Oh boy. So as we do know, this is coming from a former lead or like the former creator of the Assassin's Creed series, who is no longer at Ubisoft. Well,
Speaker: in the demo, people said, oh, there's a lot of like AI placeholder art there. Is there a plan to, you know, put it with real art when the game comes out? He said, ha ha, lol, no, I'm going to use AI art for everything in this game.
Speaker: Oh, no. So before you buy just know that. And immediately never going to buy. Yeah, kind of killed all interest in that game for a lot of people.
Speaker: We then got a trailer for Showa American Story, which I basically in my notes, I said, Dead Rising, but Japan. Because that's the vibe it gave.
Speaker: We got a new trailer for Road Kings, which comes out March 11th, 2027. And then we got a brand new trailer and like gameplay reveal of Stage Tour, the Guitar Hero revival game.
Speaker: There are going to be 90 songs on launch, and it's launching with official hardware for the game as well. So you can get a proper guitar, microphone, and je drum kit for the game as well. And it launches all on December 10th.

Speaker: ah Then we got a trailer for Lego Skylines, a new Lego city builder game. Very heavy inspiration of city skylines, but Lego. So I am very much for this. I am very excited to see when that comes out. If people were like, oh, this is the first Lego city building game. Me. What about Lego city in the 1990s?
Speaker: Ah, true. Everyone forgets about that game because it was so bad. We got Transport Fever 3 coming out September 29th. Exterminauts, a game where you play as like a bunch of exterminators, space exterminators, and you go place to place to like clean it up and get rid any like space gunk.
Speaker: Path of Exile 2 is releasing in 1.0 December 11th. Heroes of Mighty Magic 3 is getting a remake that's out now. However, if you buy it on Steam right now, you'll notice it's got a lot negative reviews. That's because Ubisoft forgot to put the game in the game files.

And then we got trailers for The Defiant, Terray the Unbound, and Like or Die, which honestly, all of those kind of fell into the, what I would want to call like Japan swap almost, or just like Asia swap, because like, i don't know if it's just Japan, where it's just like, okay, these games look cool, but like, I don't really care about this. Speaker: And then we have got two announcements left in the show as we the the show. And the first was Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Yay! Finally, it's on an end.
Speaker: Naoki Hamaguchi comes out and shows us a brand new trailer showcasing the weapons. ah Ruby, Emerald, and Ultimate Weapon all got featured. No sign of Sapphire or Diamond Weapon, though.
Speaker: ah But we did get to see Sapphire Weapon previously, but no still no sign of Diamond Weapon. ah We got to see a bit more gameplay. We got to see Typhon be summoned. And game is set for Spring 2027 on all consoles and PCs simultaneously.
Speaker: And then, the end of the show, Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is getting remastered. It is coming out on September 29th for PC and consoles. It is a free upgrade if you already own the game. It's gonna include all the expansions. The skill tree is getting revamped, improved enemy AI, better mount handling, improved movement and reversal, enhanced combat, upgraded visuals, and the new DLC Songs of the Past, will be included when it releases in 2027.
Speaker: And it comes out at the end of September. so So to try to make people not play GTA 6 in November. Hey, I will.
Speaker: I'm trying to decide because I have never actually played The Witcher 3. to ah Because it comes with the two DLCs. But my question is, if you have the complete edition, do you get the fourth DLC for free or do you have to buy it?

Basically a single spelling error in the code of one line.

Speaker: Oh, well, yeah. yeah Back in the day when... With Tyson, yeah. Yeah, he was a joke. You'd fight him, 30 seconds later, he's dead. And for so long, I'm like, when can I get his weapons? Oh, they don't exist. Well, can I get his and the other general's armor? Oh, they don't exist except for in the on their characters. You're telling me I can't get the sick-ass armor and the sick-ass class? Nope.
Speaker: And... I'm like, one of these days, it's going to be a shield guy. And then it got revealed. And I'm like, oh my God, it's happening. thy shields.

Fun fact, the Warring Triad actually don't have names in Final Fantasy VI. They're just known as the Fiend, the Goddess, and the Demon.
Speaker: Yeah, that's fair. And also their entire thing to protect the world was basically, hey, if one of us is turned to the right just a tiny bit, the world's doomed. Yeah, I love that. I'm just like, out of all the things you couldn't have thought to, you know, make it impossible.
Speaker: But anyway, the other thing I'm looking forward to as a, it's kind of funny, the typing minigame. yeah so we are getting a Final Fantasy 7 edition in the Gold Saucer for some glam pieces it's a typing minigame am going to have fun that's not coming out next year that's coming out later this year yep I'm excited for it because I actually have good typing speed he's going to run all the lobbies he's going to type us to the ground Tony, you need to come with me. Speaker: What do you think we'll actually see for like bosses or like a storyline with the Evangelion Alliance raid and the FF7 eight man raids? i have an arm in the ss okay with I have a theory for the FF7 one where I think we'll see four bosses from remake, rebirth, revelation, each of the three tiers.
Speaker: I think Genova is going to be the one, one of the ones for the FF7 one and Sephiroth is it Sephiroth and or cloud are going to be a boss. Yeah.
Speaker: Well, I feel like Sephiroth is going to 12 for sure. like um isn't Like regular Sephiroth at Sephiroth at 12 makes the most sense. Yeah.
Speaker: But for Evangelion, i think one of the raids will be basically um I'm trying to remember what it is. It's basically the end of the world.
Speaker: It's basically going to be the third impact is going to be one of the raids. Okay. And the final boss will basically be what happens if ah Adam and Eve were to combine. You get the basically the first. be No, no, no. You get the first species.
Speaker: Or a failed version that basically you have to destroy, otherwise it's going to destroy the planet because it should not exist. Do you think they're going do that, add that like weekly quest like they did in the fucking Shadowbringers near raid series and bring it like something like that back once we've cleared it?
Speaker: Wait, I wasn't there for that. What do you mean? So there's a series of quests after you clear the Nier raids. That's a repeatable quest for only like x amount of weeks because what there's only like set a set X amount of quests and you do those for rewards And then once it once it's done, because it also finishes out the storyline, too.
Speaker: Have you not done those? I did the Nier Raids series, but I didn't really do the quest because I didn't i wasn't heavily into the game yet. Nier Raids, their biggest issue is enemies have too much health.
Speaker: The Gola fights are too long, honestly. Honestly, i don't think because with near that makes sense that it's making you go back into it because in near there are 26 endings.
Speaker: It made sense that you had to do it multiple times. You had to get you didn't even do the race. Just like just some quests like it's not even doing the thing again. Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Basically, he goes in rage, and we have to fight him. Oh, boy. yeah i know there's I know shit about Evangelion so like a lot of the stuff is just going over my head like don't know what that is. If it's an Evangelion one it's also going to have a it's also going to have angels.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, that that that's one thing I know. Yeah, that's probably probably be the splashable ads. who They may be one one of the end bosses. I'm guessing the raid the final raid bosses for the first one is going to be an angel.
Speaker: Second one is going to be Ava Unit 01 or custom-made Ava Unit that's going to appear for the story. But since... Zero One is the one that appears in that like background art when they announced it. It's going to be him as a wall boss.
Speaker: And then the final one is going to be basically what happens if Adam and Eve were to combine the worst case scenario.
Speaker: And the enemies may just be mini-angels. many angels Yeah, possibly. Which would be kind of cool. I am excited for it though. Excellent. Are you hoping for anything get announced that hasn't been revealed yet?
Speaker: I can't really decide. I'm just hoping that this time around I can stay up to date with everything. Yes.
Speaker: Because I did not do that with Dawn Trail and I regret it. Especially with the Relic weapon. god Oh, God, yeah. I'm not even done with the Aetherweave one yet. When do you think we're getting... What part of January do you think the release date is going to be in? Early, mid, or late?
Speaker: late late january i estimate it's let me check i've got to check the calendar because they're going to do it when is the up when there are updates always it's on thursdays right or tuesday tuesdays tuesdays all right january 26 wait so preparations will begin uh So they'll have three days prior for the pre-orders, which means maintenance will occur january twenty first
Speaker: Yeah, that's about right. Yeah. 20th or 21st, realistically. Yeah, depending on how many days you need for it. Because this is like a big, big overhaul update to like so much aging with this one.
Speaker: the The job system. Yeah. Like there's so much changes. It's definitely a longer being. They're keeping the job system, but also and the option to use the new one, the new one, which I think is just go to be the way to go.
Speaker: Honestly, yeah, because the fact that it's like, hey, if abilities... Buttons are going to get streamlined. Abilities are going to add newer abilities are going slightly better. And it's going to be a less clo clogged hotbar. Honestly, it is what I've wanted for so long. like When I was making a hotkey, I was like, hey, is there any way to make it so that I can make a hotkey that goes from like one pound ability to two and then three? It's like, nope, you've got to press man with me.
Speaker: I feel like it would be easier just to do what they do in the... EDP, yeah. Yeah, and um i'm not looking back, I'm like, God damn, I was thinking ahead.
Speaker: Last question I do want to ask you. With how post-Dawn Trail was handled, do you think FF14 is back in the good enough graces to win Best Ongoing Game slash Best Community Support Awards at the Game Awards this year, if they're nominated for them?
Speaker: Personally, I think they are with how they handled the entirety of Dawn Trail and going forward with it. it was It was a little rough at first, but honestly, it came out really good. Because how I see it, you shouldn't compare Dawn Trail to Endwalker.
Speaker: Well, no. And Walker is the end of 10 years. Compare Dawn Trail to a Roundly Born at the end, and it is a far better thing.
Speaker: Yeah, no, absolutely. i don't I don't know if it's going to win. i I think it has a better chance this time compared to last year, ah just with like how much more support they've done for it. And also with it being a FanFest year, and with hype on the horizon for Evercold, I think it's definitely going to be... ah have a better shot, I think.
Speaker: Now, one other question is not 14 related, but it is kind of Game Awards related. What do you think best, ah most anticipated game is going to be at ah at ah the Game Awards for that for that category since GTA 6 could no longer win that award?
Speaker: Which one? Most anticipated game. It's where they, it's the game award award that like ah games that haven't come out yet that they, ah that get nominated and that one just wins like an honorary award basically. What you think is going to win that? The hell that GTA six cannot win that award because it'll be out.
Speaker: I don't know, honestly. That's going to be the funny thing. That's going to be the funniest. I wonder what's actually going to get nominated for that because everybody knew GTA 6 was going to win every single fucking time for that one because that one is mostly just a fan voted category. So it's like, I'm curious what's actually going to win that one.

Speaker: And, Cran, if there was a game old or new that you would recommend to the audience, what game would that be? It is a tie. FF14, of course, but if i had to pick one, the two, Deadlock, or my personal favorite that I convinced Tony to put into the Game Olympics, Deadass Disco, because you all need to see what Johnny Disco zoomed with his life and see the high score Tony has, because that man scares me.
Speaker: I'm really good at disco. I haven't played the game in like a couple weeks, though. I'm taking a break until the new content drops. I've i've i satisfied myself. I know my scores are dropping in the leaderboards, but I'm okay with that.
Speaker: But yeah, if you get the game soon enough, you'll be able to fight a few new bosses and the story will proceed more. So yeah, do a chance sometime soon. Sometime this year, we're getting the next content update. And then God knows what we're getting in the fall.
