Speaker: Welcome to Tony's Game Lounge, a bi-weekly podcast that covers everything in the world of video games, TCG, tabletop and more. Here's your host, Tony 14. Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another brand new episode of the Tony's Game Lounge podcast.

Speaker: I am your host, as always, Tony 14. And joining us this week is another brand new guest the podcast and another recent addition to the Game Lounge crew.

Speaker: You might have seen her in the first half of the Game Lounge crew Olympics. It is Morpho Zephyr VT Morpho. Hello. Welcome to the podcast.

Speaker: Hi, thanks for having me. How is it going? how are you doing today? I'm doing good. Very tired. But, you know, I'm very excited to be here. Hey, hell yeah. Excellent. Well, because you're brand new here, we get to start with ah the the most daunting question you could ask any person who plays a lot of video games. ah We're going to start with our last thing. We're going to ask you for your favorite video game, video game character and video game soundtrack.

Speaker: Ooh, okay. For favorite game, I would have to say definitely Hollow Knight. I've poured so much time and energy into it that it's just the art style, the gameplay, you know, I just, I love it. It's amazing. um Character, I'd have to, it's a little bit of a cop-out, I'd say, but it's a Pokemon. um I have to go Pumpkaboo.

Speaker: Ooh, that's such a unique pick, I feel. Really? Yeah, I don't know. I don't see many Pumpkaboo lovers out in the wild. The thing is just so adorable. and One of my favorite things about him is that in the ah Pokemon Remix Cafe game that they have, they turned him into a little soup.

Speaker: How does that scoop have four sizes, though? ah You know, I don't know. That's a good question. We should find out. Yeah, definitely. um For OST, I'd have to say Genshin. And that's just because um I've played Genshin almost up until the Inazuma era and a little bit past that. But I've heard people say good things about like Zelda and other games like that. I just I haven't had a chance to get around and play in them. So for what I've experienced firsthand, I have to go Genshin. Okay. Okay. um I won't, i won't knock its music because I do think that Hoyo has done some good music tracks as a guy who used to play a lot of star rail.

Speaker: yeah They, they, they know how to make some, they know how to, they know their music at least. So I'll, I will give them that. ah Now, what is your hottest video game take?

Speaker: I okay despite not having played any of the mainline games I prefer Sonic in 3d over 2d not not a bad take you what have you so what wait wait which Sonic games have you played then I've played the racers.

Speaker: That's about it. but I mean, that is definitely something of, you know, it's like, oh yeah, okay, that means you've experienced something of 3D song. no yeah No, no, nothing at all. That's kind of nuts. I mean, here's the thing. I don't think it's too hot of a take because I also, I agree with that take because I am...

Speaker: One, I am shit at the 2D Sonic games. And two, I grew up on 3D Sonic. I grew up on SA2 and ah Heroes and the GameCube era of Sonic games.

Speaker: And I just prefer have preferred them over 2D Sonic because the 2D Sonic games were hard. They were so much harder than every 3D Sonic game that followed.

Speaker: Oh, interesting. all right Unless you're talking about Sonic 06, in which case that one's a whole other beast to tackle because the the game itself prevents you from playing the game. But that's neither here nor there.

Speaker: and that's where we say play Project 06. ah It's so much better. And fix everything wrong with Sonic 06. Yeah. ah What have you thought? What have your your thoughts on the racing games of Sonic? If I may ask, like which one is your favorite? I'm assuming you played the the core three of Sonic Racing, Racing Transformed and Cross Worlds then.

Speaker: I've only played Cross Worlds. good That's why I considered it a hot take because that is the only Sonic game I have ever played. That's the only. Here's thing. Crossroads is a great is a good. It made my top 10 list last year. Like it's a good game. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but that's OK. You know what? That is That is a hot take. Yeah. Coming from you. That is a hot take. Actually. Holy shit.

Speaker: What do you mean? Okay, I guess here's my follow-up question to that. Did you pick it up for Sonic, or did you pick it up for somebody because somebody else was in the game? I picked it up for somebody else. Was it Hatsune Miku? Yeah. it was oh my god it is the exact reason why i also picked up fortnight i'll have you know it was because of miku yes it was you know you know what that's that's fair that's that's that's fine that's fair like despite sora and riku and roxas now being in fortnight i'm like i don't know i just still can't i can't pick up fortnight regardless but like

Speaker: Hey, to each their own, I guess, on that one. I mean, to be fair, I didn't even know who those characters were before yesterday because I played ah Kingdom Hearts for the first time. Oh, wow. Hey, hope you enjoy it.

Speaker: If you have any questions, me and Drusk know a lot. I'm very familiar. Drusk barged in and started yelling at me. Why are you playing without me? ah Yeah, that's very Drusk coded.

Speaker: ah Yeah, no, definite if you have questions, feel free to reach out with that. ah Tokyo Game Show happened this past week ah and wrapped up the the biggest game show in Tokyo. There were two ah little...

Speaker: ah not little two live streams ah from Xbox and Capcom that happened. That is our headline of the week that we are diving into right now is the Xbox Tokyo Game Show show and the Capcom spotlight.

Speaker: ah We're going to start off with the Xbox one because it was mostly just trailer after trailer. No real in between. No dev talks. No, nothing. Just a bunch of trailers. And they opened it up with Gachi Akuta Breakout, a game from the anime Gachi Akuta coming out 2027. And it it seems like an arena brawler single player experience, though.

Speaker: Because they showed it like boss fight. There's like a boss health bar. on The trailer primarily focused on... Because apparently I'm assuming Japan got a bunch of trailers prior to the game. This trailer specifically was like, oh, hey, here's Jabber. ah Right. Right.

Speaker: And, you know, creating the scene of the fight that they have before ah the one character gets jabbed by him and goes on a trip of a lifetime.

Speaker: From what I've seen, I don't, I've watched the show. I just know that because Zeno Robinson and his, so the dance yeah, exactly. since and since Soon, soon, soon.

Speaker: uh yeah so that's uh that that's coming out next year which is cool if you're a fan i guess uh i'm kind of indifferent on that one but i haven't watched an anime in years now it's been a while fair enough i i haven't i've been bad i'm slacking um crazy sexy world tour got a new japan it's revealed this japan stage uh the game is still set for 2027 i actually got to play in the online multiplayer beta test that they sent out the closed online multiplayer beta test I got to play a little bit of that ah it was cool I wish that there was more than just the two modes that we got to play to kind of see a bit more but it controls pretty well and the soundtrack is the original game soundtrack like it's offspring it's

Speaker: all of those original songs from crazy taxi back again, which is very nice to hear. um so I'll be excited to see more when more gets revealed as, uh, time goes on.

Speaker: We got our first story trailer for call of duty, modern warfare four, which comes out October 23rd, persona for revival was there briefly to reveal the Naoto voice actor is Amber Lee Connors.

Speaker: ah And the game comes out February 18th. Shape of Dreams, The Starless Path is out now. We got another trailer for Wolong 2, Wings of Ember. Gameplay, first look at that as well, coming out March 4th.

Speaker: Hope in the City, a mystery game where you're looking for your parents, but no one's willing to answer you because there's some sketchy things going on. That comes out November tenth And then we got a look at this game called Bloom Walker, which when I saw this trailer, I said, oh, this looks a lot like Nino Cooney, but there's no reference to Nino Cooney. Only for that afterwards for the producer there be like, and we're welcoming Bloom Walker into the Nino Cooney universe. I'm like, oh, that makes so much more sense now of why it kind of had that distinct look.

Speaker: The gameplay that they showed, it's you're playing this game like purifier like a shepherd almost where you're you're going out and you're like removing the the gloom that's uh spreading across the world there's probably more to that but there was no release date given for so there's there's no idea when we'll actually see more details about this game so this is by net marvel then right yes okay I'm really excited for that. Netmarble has ah at least a good history when it comes to their three d games like that. I'm assuming they're probably going to be reusing some of the assets that they used for their recent game from the Seven Deadly Sins open world game. Oh, the... i've good I'm going to say that's Seven Deadly Sins origin is what it was. is I believe so, yes.

Speaker: When all the ads were coming out for that game, I've got to say, i was just like, okay, we get it. You can chill. You can chill. yeah no, they did go heavy on it. But to be fair, having played the game myself, it was deserved. It's a beautiful game. Yeah. Netmarble. Yeah, they are the ones developing and publishing it.

Speaker: Oh, nice. So that is, um ne ne sorry, Netmarble Neo is the specific development side of it. Oh, okay. ah But it's Netmarble. So there you go. So look forward to that, I guess. I still need to play the Nino Kuni games on the long list of games I need to play.

Speaker: ah We also got a trailer for Faraday Blues coming out next year. a new trailer for Atelier Karya or Katia. I couldn't tell because I don't know if it was an R or a T because of the font they use.

Speaker: The Night Kingdom and Guide of Memories, that comes out February 25th for the Atelier series. We got a new look at Raji Kali Yuga. Edge of Memories coming out November 5th.

Speaker: Genagod's Neysia coming out 2028th. ah based off of the Chinese, i think it's a folk story of Neysia. The only thing I know about this is the animated movie Neysia 2 is like one of the best animated movies ever created in the last like three years or so.

Speaker: And that's the only reason I know the name. ah so that's getting a game. The slasher update for Fallout 76 is out now. And then we got another look at Bloodstained Discarded Engagement, which is another Metroidvania-style game as well.

Speaker: Coming out 2027.

Speaker: The show then wrapped up with koji Kojima. Now that it's been announced and public knowledge that he is now partnered with Xbox for his two new projects, OD Knock and Phyzzant.

Speaker: uh od knock he said is currently on schedule and i think comes out next year i believe is when it's planned for uh we don't actually know but that's my best bet uh they also announced that sophia lillis and hunter schaefer are now part of that project and then with fizzant which is the new action espionage game that takes that is essentially going back to kojima's roots of metal gear solid They announced that Charlie Frazier, Don Lee, and Minami Hamade are now part of the cast. And they revealed that the main actor who will be playing the protagonist in this game is Bill Skarsgård.

Speaker: So a bunch of cast reveals for Kojima's next two games, which is cool. I'm more interested to see stuff on Phyzzent than OD Knock, because I believe is...

Speaker: is slightly horror based if i'm remembering correctly ah because he's working with jordan peele on it at least i thought he was or there was like a there was a part of this like production process where he was working with jordan peele that sounds about right from what i remember the od knocked is supposed to be um the first person anthology horror game yeah that yeah yeah taking inspiration from ah the PT demo that was going to become Silent Hill but then yeah all the Kojima Konami stuff happened to say in the least so it's going to be interesting to see when we when we'll actually get to see trailers for these games my best bet is possibly next year's Summer Game Fest we might see something on OD Knock

Speaker: potentially and if not there it might be at gamescom that's fair i do think that i personally am a little bit excited for fizzin because i know i talked to you about this a little bit before but minami uh hamave she is someone who was a major role in godzilla minus one oh actually oh that's great actually oh what a perfect tie-in for you then Yeah, I love everything Godzilla and seeing her work as Noriko Oishi, I would like fell in love with her as an actress. like I knew about her beforehand because she's done stuff here and there, you know but i'm I'm excited to see this. with I'm excited to see what Don Lee is going be in there because Don Lee, ah who was going to be the lead protagonist and the now canceled because of the the the studio getting shut down,

Speaker: Gang of Dragon game ah from the former Yakuza lead dev. ah Don Lee was going to be the main protag in that. And now it's now that game is not never coming out. We're not going to see what Negoshi had planned for that post leaving Sega and RGG.

Speaker: So we get to see Don Lee in this. So that's at least nice that we do get to see Don Lee in a video game in some capacity he once more. ah But that was the Xbox showcase. The other one was the Capcom Spotlight, where we didn't get to see too many games showed about and talked about, but we did get a couple more details, and they opened with more details for Mega Man Duel Override.

Speaker: The game is ah you will have the choice to switch between Man and Proto Man and play through all the stages as both of them. Mega Man is a more balanced character to play as well. Proto Man will have more close range based attacks and movement.

Speaker: There going to instead of it being one stage with a robot master at the end of it, there are going to three areas per stage with, I think, the robot master at the end of the third area.

Speaker: ah There going be custom chips to utilize more powers throughout the game. Special weapons still drop from the bosses and apply to both Mega Man and Proto Man. And then the override system they briefly showed, which when you take enough damage, you can activate it from what it seen it seems to be um um a rage mechanic ah for the player where they'll get stronger abilities and powers and take on a new look in the override form.

Speaker: The game is still set for spring 2027 with no exact release date as of yet. I have a question ask. Sorry. Yeah. ah So I have I've never played a Mega Man game. stay Same here.

Speaker: OK, I was going to ask, ah are all Mega Man games, um to your knowledge, then um the like side scroller? Is this one going to be one, two? So ever every Mega Man has only dabbled like three times where it's not a side scroller. But those are different iterations like original Mega Man and the Mega Man X are both side scroller series. The Mega Man Legends is a 3D action game. And there's two of those. And people are mad that like the story for that never really got finished.

Speaker: there's the megaman ah star force which i don't know the style of gameplay for that one and then there's the megaman battle network games which are top down like a top down slightly like it's a top down camera where you move but it's like open world but like the battle system is completely different it's oh okay uh i don't know the best way to describe it ah it's like you're on one side in a 9x9 grid, the enemies are on on another side, use your attacks and special moves to fight them and you move around essentially like a 9x9 or like a 9x... Not a a 3x3 or a 3x4 grid essentially. okay okay

Speaker: it's it's ah It's a much different game than what classic Mega Man is. But Dual Override will be a side-scroller like classic and the series Mega Man. ah We also got a new, not really a trailer for Pragmata, but like the announcement of that two sets of Mega Man cosmetics ah are releasing.

Speaker: ah but One of them is more cursed than the other one, where one of them is, it looks like you're wearing a Mega Man costume, and the other one is where you just get replaced by Mega Man.

Speaker: And Roll gets replaces Diana with the other set, with the skin set as well. Oh, I'm not too familiar with this particular game. Is this the one that had a bunch of ah guys like freaking out? Like, oh, this is my daughter. Yes, this is the game ok the dad simulator of Yes. All right. sim The Resident Evil remakes are out on Switch 2 on October 16th, so they just went over all of that again. and then they reiterated stuff for the 30th anniversary for Resident Evil. An anniversary exhibit is opening up in Shibuya.

Speaker: um So if you want to check that out, you can go there ah at Universal Studios Japan. The Resident Evil Requiem Maze. dive is going to be available. So a new horror mage at the US.

Speaker: Mage horror maze at the USJ is an exhibit you can go check out. And then the Resident Evil Symphony concert tickets are now available. You can go on the site to see where they will be playing and if they'll be in your city and to go try to get to tickets.

Speaker: ah So get them soon because I'm sure that they will sell out as they usually do with these anniversary symphonies. On the note of Resident Evil, um something exciting. I plan to play my first ever Resident Evil game for um for the month of October. Me and Castle are going to be going through Resident resident Evil 6.

Speaker: Oh, God. Of course it's six. Of course it's six. good luck with that one. that is That is definitely the Resident Evil of all time, I have heard. Really excited.

Speaker: Nice. um Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen was the next game shown off. we just We've known about the stuff. it was A lot of Capcom stuff was a lot of just recap stuff from all their other years with a few new things. We're getting three major additions to Dark Arisen. The Forsaken Dominion, which is a new area and offers new story stuff.

Speaker: The Lost Rites, which adds new dungeon challenges to the game, 12 specifically. New hairstyles and tattoos for your character creator. ah And then new pawns that you can recruit that are all based on a bunch of YouTubers and content creators. Game comes out October 9th, or the Dark Risen version of the game comes out October 9th. This is also the only version of Dragon's Dogma 2 that you can get on Switch to, but the upgrade will be available for all of the other platform platforms and systems.

Speaker: We then got some details on Street Fighter 6, specifically for Arjun, the next character on the new Fighter ah Pass. He drops on October thirteenth along with Sea Vipers Outfit 4, which has the internet going, Mommy, sorry. Mommy, sorry. Mommy, sorry.

Speaker: ah As it is her swimsuit outfit. We are also getting tie-in with the Street Fighter movie. Just some new Challenger screens with the cast, so if...

Speaker: that They appear in the movie. They're getting a cast version of their Challenger screen. And then we know the order for the last two characters is going to Tifa coming out in early 2027. And then Bosh will be the spring 2027 release. So Tifa's next, everybody. Yay!

Speaker: Let's go The reason to play Street Fighter again is Tifa. Yeah! um I might. i might. I probably won't, but I'll say I might.

Speaker: ah And like lastly, we got our Monster Hunter stuff. Monster Hunter Outlanders, the new mobile game, showed a quick ad letting people know that pre-registration is open. And then we got more new stuff about Monster Hunter Wild's Ascendance, about the new boost racer and boost divers and boost mechanics.

Speaker: And we also got, they also revealed Teostra, the Elder Dragon, will be returning in this DLC as or this expansion as well. And a bunch of other things that I personally do not care about because they are like, we every time we see Capcom, it's just monster hundred wild descendants. I'm like, i just want something else, please.

Speaker: You have so many other things. you get that ah And that was ah the Tokyo game show stuff ah in a nutshell. Overall, Not too bad. cool Some cool announcements, some cool details that we've got to know. And a thing about Tokyo Game Show this year, it was a five-day event that they had planned, but it was cut short because of, I believe, a typhoon.

Speaker: warning oh so the it was the the fifth day got canceled uh just because of the warnings there so it was the first was this was also i believe the first year they were trying to do it for a five-day thing and uh because it's just been a four-day thing in the past and then the typhoon warning came and it's like oh yeah no we're just gonna we're gonna

Speaker: cut the fifth day so yeah unfortunate a little unfortunate for that but overall i still i believe it was another successful tokyo game show uh to those who went hope you had fun and uh hope you got to see something cool or hear some cool news from the announcements that was that were made uh any final thoughts from you on tokyo game show morpho um Honestly, i a lot of information because I don't watch these things. so that You know, you you saying these things to me is like, oh, okay, I'm taking notes.

Speaker: Good to know. Very fair enough. ah With that, then, we will dive into the week in review and cover everything else that happened in these last two weeks. Because there's a lot. There's some hope for some dying games.

Speaker: Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review. But as we always start with the Week in Review, some of the major game releases that came out in these past two weeks, Marvel's Wolverine, ah which got very averaging reviews.

Speaker: Really? yeah yeah Like there's like, it's like people are saying like, it's not a bad game by any sense. It's just, if you compare it to insomniac's other work is very middle of the road.

Speaker: Oh, I see. I see. See on my end of things, because obviously the negative voices are going to be the loudest oh yeah on Tik TOK. I've seen nothing but negative reviews on the game. Yeah. I've seen it's nothing but the the people complaining about a blue trail of smoke.

Speaker: Yeah, exactly. stuff ah yeah like well again i i well well we while we do always see a lot of the negative it's always because they're the loudest about it and it's not the majority folks you got to remember that it's not the majority it's just whoever speaks the fucking loudest Um, Silent Hill Townfall also released RuneScape Dragon Wilds, which is free on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus.

Speaker: Uh, the new co-op survival RuneScape game that still takes some RuneScape elements like leveling up all your skills to 99 is our achievements.

Speaker: And... uh whatnot uh fire emblem fortunes weave released as well control resident which i am very excited for ah i'll be playing that when i am done editing this podcast that you are listening to i will be playing this game and garfield escape from monday new action platformer from garfield Really?

Speaker: It's an action platformer? That's interesting. Yeah, it's a 3D platformer. I don't know how much action there is, but it's a 3D platformer. yeah This is the opposite of what he would want to be doing. Yes.

Speaker: Well, I mean, he's he's it's a Monday, so that's why. is He's got a state from it. we's got to got to fight He's got to fight his way out. Otherwise, he'll be stuck in Monday forever. I would love if like one of the things that he does is eat lasagna to power himself up. or no problem There probably is. I'm debating picking that one up or not ah to play through that.

Speaker: But those are some of the games that released in these past two weeks. As for the video game news, and starting off is what the biggest, I guess, rollercoaster of a story, as earlier this year, Destiny 2 was it announced, like, they're going to start closing slowing it down, no more, like, her updates and whatnot. Well, Bungie...

Speaker: came out and they sat down on and posted a video and basically said that we are going to take care of Destiny 2. All of the content that was vaulted up is going to be unvaulted so in the near future.

Speaker: That includes the Red War and Forsaken campaigns, all the zones, and more past stuff like Curse of Osiris and the Warmind DLCs with further details to follow. Basically saying, hey, we hear you. We're sorry. We're going to have our actions speak louder than our words because we know that you care and you guys deserve better.

Speaker: So we're going to focus on Destiny 2 with what's kind of left with Bungie. uh for a bit marathon still gonna get its updates and whatnot as well but like we're gonna work towards reviving destiny 2 a bit oh that's amazing which i'm kind you know what i'm kind of excited if if they are vat when they unvault everything I will probably play Destiny 2 again. I will play it again because I used to play Destiny 2. I was a heavy Destiny 2 player back in the day. played D1. I played And then it was around the war. It was after the Warmind DLC that I dropped the game just because time commitments and whatnot, not really realizing it's an MMO. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: That's when I dropped it. But now if they bring back everything, I think it'd be a, I think it could make some good game on screw content down the line of getting a group of us together to that would be fun go through the entirety of destiny too. When everything gets unvaulted and whatnot.

Speaker: Oh, if you do, I would definitely be down to join for that. Me and my partner, we used to play back before ah we moved in together. So that was like our thing to do is just play that long distance. um And it was so like it's a bonding game because even if you're not like into games like that, there are like, you know, easier missions and places to explore that you can do that still like you can go and take in the scenery.

Speaker: Yes, and it's also just really good gunplay because it's Bungie. And that's the one that is the one thing Bungie is good at. They're good at making FPS gameplay. It's their thing. It's why all the good, all the old Halos are great. It's why Destiny 1 and 2 are great.

Speaker: I definitely agree. Persona 4 Revival held another broadcast kind of recapping everything, but also revealing a couple new details. The first one being Aika Nakamura, the anime original character, the girl who delivered all the beef bowls from the anime. She will be in Persona 4 Revival as a social link.

Speaker: ah for the first time ever, ah which is very dope and very cool to see. And we also got a couple more ah voice actor reveals. Aika will be voiced by Judy Alice Lee.

Speaker: Nanaka will be voiced by Courtney Shaw. ah Dojima is being voiced by Ray Chase. And the only original voice actor to return to Persona 4 Revival, Adachi, is once again being voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch.

Speaker: Oh, my Lord. Because you can't replace Adachi, apparently. You can replace everybody else, but Adachi has to be the same. Now, to be fair, I believe with Persona 3 Revival, they had a whole new voice cast except for Elizabeth because I believe Elizabeth kept her original voice actor because you just can't replace that one as well.

Speaker: So very cool to see. Very exciting. ah We dont also know that it's going to be on site when Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Youngbosh see each other and again in the wild.

Speaker: oh my god, yeah. Especially because um like as as far as voice actors go, I'm excited to see Ray Chase and Johnny in ah in in a game together again. um i i i just love voice actors. You know this. I do, yes. So it's a dream come true to see them. I think the only one that hasn't really had as much like giant ah roles, I would say, is probably Courtney Shaw. So I'm excited to see like what she does. I mean, obviously, the people will be like, oh, that's my show. I love that show that they were in. um

Speaker: because i know that she was in transformers and um what's it called uh winx club like last year um and but then a lot of digimon beat break because i know that one was popular for a while i so i still need to watch beat break i've heard so many i've heard so many good things need to watch it

Speaker: No. And then ah Judy, I believe most recent ah is has been ah Luna Snow in Marvel Rivals. Oh, okay. So I'm excited.

Speaker: Nice. ah BlizzCon also happened in these past two weeks, revealing a whole bunch of shit for all of your favorite Blizzard games. Starting off, Overwatch's new hero, Doctrine, was revealed. Hearthstone revealed their new expansion, Reign of the Black Empire.

Speaker: The biggest thing that happened was World of Warcraft announced World of Warcraft forever. This is essentially a classic plus World of Warcraft. It's intended to follow the core principles of WoW Classic and exist in a time bubble set during the first year of the original WoW. It's a level 60 cap.

Speaker: And on top of like everything that classic has to offer, it offers three new zones, 1000 new quests, a new battleground for PvP, the dark spear islands, nine new dungeons, new professions, updated visuals, the sky boring elves race and two new raids.

Speaker: And this was like the biggest thing that was announced to people are very excited because it also comes out later this year. Well, no one's going to hear from me until New Year's. ah big yeah big wow player i'll take it ah not you know not really um i used to play modded for a while and then um people that i started playing with they fell off but this one i'm gonna drag people in by the the scruff of their neck if i have to very fair uh diablo 5 was announced with a spring 2029 release

Speaker: Roadhog and Sombra are getting massive reworks in Overwatch. Heroes of the Storm announced that Zolotath is coming out later this month. Diablo is getting a Netflix series.

Speaker: Starcraft is returning as an open world shooter in the year 2030. This is now the furthest video game announcement that we have.

Speaker: This is also, I believe, the first announced video game for 2030.

Speaker: oh And it also hurts because it's like we haven't seen shit from Starcraft in forever and we get it and it's still four years away.

Speaker: Yeah. I'm just trying to punch you in the gut. Yeah. Warcraft 3 got a new campaign ah as Forsaken Kingdom was shadow dropped for Warcraft 3 Reforged.

Speaker: And we got a brief teaser for World of Warcraft, The Last Titan, ah which is the next ah but next and final chapter in the World Souls saga for World of Warcraft. Mm-hmm.

Speaker: That was BlizzCon's all of their major announcements. And you know what? if you're at I'm excited for people who like WoW to get that WoW forever because, I mean, that's kind of exciting. That's got to be exciting for them.

Speaker: ah But I am still very anti-Blizzard and very fuck Blizzard. And that will never change. Kind of goes without saying, but, you know, just in case. Yes, yes.

Speaker: ah In one of the weirdest collabs I've seen, K-pop icon and Blackpink member Lisa said, is teaming up with PlayStation to launch a themed DualSense controller and a unique merchandise collection. It's set to release October 30th. Pre-orders go live October 2nd.

Speaker: So now you can get your Blackpink DualSense, or sorry, your Lisa DualSense controller, not Blackpink, it's just Lisa. It is. But the merch is kind of cute, I will say, at least. um I've always been a fan of like the bangs and eye combo that she has, but I like the fact that they put in the um the PlayStation symbols underneath her eyes. It's a little cute detail.

Speaker: In a weird way to announce something, but i don't even know if it was the clear way to be announced. During an interview with Bloomberg, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy discussed Grand Theft Auto 6 at length. In the process, he also revealed that Rockstar will launch the game's multiplayer, quote, unquote, next year.

Speaker: In the interview, Clayson said he spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about how to best engage the creators using Twitch as a platform. He stated the obvious, or he mentioned that Twitch will see a big bump in viewership when the game launches, but he also added that there will be an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.

Speaker: And I don't know if this is like Rockstar said, yeah, go ahead and say this, or if this is where you just privy to that info and decided to tell the whole world now.

Speaker: So and it's a little weird that it's coming from Dan Clancy's mouth as for the announcement. So I don't really know. I don't know how to out how to react to that. And if it's actually accurate as well.

Speaker: that's the other thing. So we'll wait and see on that. In sequel news, Lollipop Chainsaw 2 has been revealed. However, it's under a... there It's a lot different than what we thought it would be. As DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn and Grasshopper manufacturers Goichi Suda are not involved in the sequel.

Speaker: Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back to Back is being produced by Nada Holdings and Jorgami Games, which were responsible for the repop uh remaster um as involved is the development to company jp games which is led by former square enix exec and final fantasy 15 director hajime tabata so it's gonna be it's a different direction that's kind of going in uh development wise but it's being done by the remaster people so it's probably not to be too awful unless the story is absolute dog

Speaker: Yeah, well, just it's something to definitely at least keep an eye out for. in AI news, oh boy, Level 5 has been facing extreme backlash over their abundant and shameless use of in upcoming process projects.

Speaker: This includes having their Level 5 vision show done be done entirely by an AI host. ah The controversy is also putting future Professor Leighton games and the upcoming Yo-Kai Watch game in like some hot water, to say the least.

Speaker: ah They did confirm, however, that Professor Leighton New World Steam did not have any ai and used in the development cycle. um But we don't know about any future projects ah of AI with these games and whatnot.

Speaker: So, yeah. And we're not just talking like, oh, just like an AI tool here and there. This is like generative AI to generate puzzles for these games and shit. Like that's like, it's like, it's the not so good ai Yeah.

Speaker: So we'll we'll see where that goes. I will say the host of the level five vision show looked goofy as fuck. It was one of the goofiest things I have ever seen my however long I've been covering this stuff.

Speaker: In gaming fashion news, nerd fashion company Super Groupies is partnering with Bloodborne again on a new collection of merchandise headlined $125 umbrella.

Speaker: o my lord So um you don't get a bloodborne remake, but you do get a cool umbrella. that good? No, okay.

Speaker: ah Sonic Racing Cross Worlds has given us a year two timeline and a few more details. ah First, another reason why we'll why we probably see Morpho playing this game, Godzilla. ah The Godzilla Escape course ah will be the first thing that releases as part of year two, adding the brand new course and three new vehicles inspired by Godzilla's monsters.

Speaker: Tokyo three is the Evangelion track. And they'll also be adding Ray and Asuka as racers and Bayonetta will be the next free character drop to release as year two ah kicks off.

Speaker: Very exciting. All three of those things. Honestly, I can't wait to see, as I said before, cross worlds has become like the super smash brothers of racing games in a sense.

Speaker: Oh, for sure. Yeah. We just won't see Mario. There's no Mario going to be here whatsoever. Honestly, I could do without the the annoying red Italian, specifically. Nothing against Italians, you know. then They're amazing.

Speaker: Good. because I am Italian. I am Italian.

Speaker: I'm like, no, not all of them are bad. but Yeah, Tony, you are an amazing Italian. In what could be the end of a saga of of god of news that I might miss, but not really. Build a Rocket Boy, the developers of Minds Eye are back in the news because they're going through another round of layoffs. But based on social media posts from former employees, it is extremely possible that the studio might get shut down entirely.

Speaker: RIP to the CEO of that who said our game is going to be the GTA killer yeah brother brother kept your mouth yeah In delayment news, Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble Survivaton, the Vampire Survivors Jujutsu Kaisen clone that's being developed by the developers of Vampire Survivors, has been delayed to 2027.

Speaker: Ubisoft has also delayed Rayman Legends Retold to December third Whether this affects the Rayman origins ah remaster, I don't know.

Speaker: um So I believe that still will be coming out later this the next month, but don't know for sure about that one either. ah In reboot news, the first Professor Lazy game is getting remastered and remade for 2027.

Speaker: ah Again, because it's being done by level five, from what they said, there is the ah they're only using like an AI tool, but no generative AI. But again, we'll wait and see how things go with that.

Speaker: Ball Pit revealed a whole new expansion called the Risen Balbalon coming out November 12th. Alan Richson is in talks to replace Jason Momoa on the Helldivers movie, which I didn't even know there was Helldivers movie being made.

Speaker: Neither did I. i'm going to have to message some people about that. ah The Steam Frame, Steam's VR headset, revealed its price point at $1,059 USD.

Speaker: Oh, boy. Like, steam when Steam announced all the stuff of, like, the Steam cube and the Steam machine and, like, all the stuff that it was going to be with it, you know, it was, oh, wow, this is all super cool. I hope it's i hope it's price fair. fair her have Boy, were we wrong. Boy, were we wrong about that.

Speaker: achievement hunting news, in a new report, true achievements confirmed details on the upcoming mythic achievements for Xbox. Like PlayStation's platinum trophies, players could unlock a mythic after earning all of the game's base achievements.

Speaker: Oh, so nice to see that Xbox is finally getting something. Now, whether or not the mythic is going to be worth any gamer score or not, I don't know. But that's very cool to see that they're finally getting like a proper thing.

Speaker: I feel like at the very least, it should to encourage people to like finish their games. Yes, I know it would help me. I'm notorious for starting the game and then not finishing it. I'm notorious for platinuming shit. So it's like when I realized I can't, it's like I either bang my head against the wall to just try and fail spectacularly or I just kind of give up.

Speaker: ah That's fair. In Microsoft news, they are Microsoft back in the news because more layoffs in the Xbox division are continuing with chief content officer at Xbox, Matt Booty, confirming on Tuesday, this past Tuesday, if you're listening to this, like when the episode comes out, that 268 employees are being laid off across Halo Studios, other first party studios, and the Xbox Games Studios management team.

Speaker: ah This came with some updates as well. Plans to find a buyer for Ninja Theory, the Senua developers, fell through. Microsoft will now begin consultation with the employees on a proposed closure while continuing to explore other paths forward.

Speaker: So while... Basically what this means is if they cannot find a buyer soon, Ninja Theory will close down. It is basically right now set for closure, which isn't what they wanted, but it is just kind of the circumstances that it unfortunately has.

Speaker: Arcane is still kind of in limbo. We still don't what's going on with that. They're in talks, we hear, but we still have no clue what the Arcane Studios situation is. And Activision is now overseeing a Rare, ah World's Edge, who gave us the Age of Empires, and they'll also be developing the next Halo game.

Speaker: Oh, boy. Matt Booty said, led by a new purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty, a small team at Halo Studios will continue supporting the Halo community and games in market.

Speaker: But Activision with, I'm assuming some guidance from the upper echelon of Halo Studios will be the ones who make the new Halo. So that's going to be very interesting to see where that goes.

Speaker: Oh, for sure. It's always a rocky thing of like trying to pay attention to like, oh, this is what the games used to be. This is the direction we're taking it in. And, you know, having to sit there and consult with the previous workers on the like X projects or previous projects. So I'm that's really interesting to think about.

Speaker: Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see what how Activision tackles this. Yeah. ah Injustice 3 also might be in the works as online slews are trying to deduce and connect some playtester positions that opened up at Netherrealm and also a resume leak for a stunt actor who had Injustice 3 as like an ah an active project that they had.

Speaker: So Injustice 3 might be in the works, folks. Very cool to see. It'll be interesting to see what the story is because they wrapped up like both, unless there was like a new Injustice comic that came out that I'm aware of. They kind of tackled, I think, both vari variations of the Injustice comics and that storyline in the first two games.

Speaker: So we'll see what that does. Also some quick update news that I got last minute. Ace attorney dual destinies is getting a VR release in 2027. Still no new ace attorney, just a VR port for the fifth game. Interesting.

Speaker: Interesting. ah And lastly, Dead as Disco, a brand new update, adding a new boss with a Latin pop Mexicana themed music releases on the 29th of September, which if you're listening to this on the Monday that it comes out, it comes out tomorrow. And your boy is going to sink his life for another 100 hours because leaderboards are going to leaderboards reset new song, new powers, new meta. I am excited. Tony's going for them global rankings immediately you know I am oh you know I am I'm coming for those top spots once again I will not let I don't because the meta fuck I don't even know what happened with the meta I thought I had it down but then there's like oh no there's like so much more shit with singularity that they that the people figured out I'm just like no singularity is so bad now why do we have to use it again

Speaker: ah Like my scores are still decent, but ah they were like, I, I decent. Everybody else started playing the game again. It's like, Oh, I just dropped. I just dropped.

Speaker: But I'm excited. I'm excited. More Dead as Disco content. Game is great. I hope to see that. And that means we're going to be getting the fall timeline for updates very soon as well. do have a quick question.

Speaker: Yeah. Since you are such an avid Dead as Disco player, what would you say is like your favorite game or favorite Boston playthrough? Oh, that's a good question. I think personally, I like Hemlock stage the most.

Speaker: Okay. Okay. Simply because Maniac and Authority have a ah faster BPM. And I like songs that have the fast BPM. And the stages are... The the sections are good.

Speaker: They offer a lot of just like instant, fast, keep but keep it on beat. keep fighting through it and then hemlocks boss fight himself is a very good sponge where it's like you don't have to like wait for the boss to come back into the arena at times like you do with decks with a couple of phases or be with a like like decks is good I like his song but his boss fight until like the third phase is very hit or miss at points in time because he's right it out of in and out of the arena Aurora's song is too damn slow

Speaker: Oh my god, agreed. And Prophet is fine. i think Prophet is like, it's just like, I wish his song is good, it stage is fine. I just like Hemlock over because it's just a bit faster.

Speaker: So like if I was to rank everything, Hemlock, Prophet, Dex, Aurora. Mm-hmm. ah So excited to see who the new ah member is, who the new band member is that we got to fight. ah They're teasing like a lot more like trickier mechanics as well. So I'm excited to see what we get. I'm just excited to see what we get. And I really hope that the song is a banger.

Speaker: um and i hope it i'm sure that we'll get more than just the one song where uh we'll hopefully get like two or three from her plus just more songs in general that they made i would love to see them do more covers as well with the band members um i because i was talking remember who i was talking to but it was i think it was either reese or brisky and i and i said yo know if profits and Aurora did a cover of Love the Way You Lie, i would be in heaven.

Speaker: That would be really cool. I think Dennis Disco developers, hey, hi, hope you're listening. Please. please please please please Please, please, please, please, please. Thank you.

Speaker: Got the Italian man on his knees. Yeah, yeah you do. ah In the ongoing game news updates, starting off with some MMORPG news, Final Fantasy 14 related, the FF 15 crossover event is back until October 13th. You can play through the missions, get yourself 200,000 MGP and go buy yourself the car.

Speaker: Vroom, vroom. In Fortnite Epic Games news, the Kingdom Hearts collaboration is out now, adding Keyblades to the game. Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Roxas are full skins as well that you can purchase. And I believe there's a couple, like, costume-based skins as well that you can get that are just themed around Kingdom Hearts as well. Mm-hmm. I've had the chance to actually play the update that they put out for Kingdom Hearts.

Speaker: The keyblades are interesting, i will i will say. As someone who, at this point in time, has not held a keyblade in Kingdom Hearts yet, have in Fortnite, so I'm counting it.

Speaker: ah how how does How do they work in Fortnite? Yeah. So in Fortnite, you have your basic attacks, which will be like, um i' ah you have your basic attack. And then if you right click, it is a charge attack. So um your character will go up in the air, kind of charge it. And then there's like a lightning blast that goes directly in a line.

Speaker: Okay, so it casts Thundaga. but Okay. what Whatever that means, yeah. It's it's Thunder. Okay, okay. Ignam Hearts uses the Final Fantasy magic system, so they're not called, like, Fire, Fyra, Firaga, Blizzard, a Blizzard, Blizzard, Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, Gravity, Graviga, Stop, Stopra,

Speaker: and it plays with that that theme of gaming with all of its magic with all of its magic I will say like the most interesting thing that I've seen people do with the crossover that they have right now is that any of the characters that have like the big shoes namely Sora they have the customization options in Fortnite that you can add on like kicks or you know different shoes and they give him normal shoes and people are like his feet are so tiny I didn't know that and

Speaker: It's funny to to look at. It is. And also Persona 5, the Persona 5 crossover is now also live in Fortnite too. um So we will see if Fortnite survives because there is a curse that any game that collaborates with Persona 5 shuts down or something bad happens to it it's it's happened every time like you know why Overwatch 2 doesn't exist anymore it's because Persona 5 happened and it became Overwatch again it's just a curse everything that's collabed with Persona 5 look you can book it up has not lasted long after so Fortnite might be on the cusp of it might be on its last breath folks it might actually happen in the world of TCG

Speaker: The Pokemon 30th anniversary set is out now and scalpers are in shambles because it's because the set is overprinted and there's so much and hit rates are better than they've ever been for the Pokemon TCG.

Speaker: So congrats, Pokemon fans. Hopefully this fixes your hobby. here It little bit. And Delta Reigns releases on November 8th. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Beyond the Brave releases October 9th.

Speaker: In Magic the Gathering, Reality Fracture releases October 2nd. And Star Trek on November 20th. In Lorkata, Hyperia City releases October 23rd. And in the Digimon TCG, Chivalrous 13 releases October second And in tabletop news, Free League Publishing launched its latest crowdfunding campaign for the One Ring a tabletop Lord of the Rings campaign. The campaign set a funding goal for $50,000, but it blew past that figure in less than an hour. The campaign has now raised more than $1.1 million dollars from nearly 5,000 backers, more than 22 times the original goal.

Speaker: Very exciting stuff if you're a Lord of the Rings fan. And that is everything in the week in review. Any final thoughts on any of those stories, Marvo? um All I'll have to say is that I'm genuinely really excited for ah some stuff that is coming out with the Pokemon TCG. I'm really happy with what Pokemon has decided to do because scalpers, man, it's just hard. I have been struggling because one of the goals that I had had a while back was to go in and as a reward for my ah for my chat, to go in and open up packs of Pokemon cards, right? Nice. But immediately after prices fucking skyrocketed. Oh, my goodness. It was like it went from ah the elite trainer boxes being like $60 to about 100, 120. And twenty and it wasn't until recently that I was I just caved and was like, OK, I have to buy one of the small booster packs for $60, even though those used to be 20.

Speaker: it's just exponentially so much more expensive. So I'm happy that they decided to do this because that hopefully we can get back on track and take back from scalpers, you know? Yes. Uh, I'm kind of like, I, I wish prices were like that for magic at times, but it depends on the set that you for. Uh, and unfortunately the set that I like the most is the final fantasy one.

Speaker: Yeah. uh, a booster box. You want to, uh, it's okay. So it's, it would be cheaper in us dollars for, But a booster box Canadian is $350. Oh, my goodness.

Speaker: Yeah. That very expensive. Yeah. i may be or I may or may not have spent $700 to

Speaker: tony yeah my friend the trash man my my boy zach has said that i am addicted to cardboard and i don't play the game and this year alone i have bought one three four i think this is box six i legitimately i believe these are boxes six and seven oh my goodness that I have purchased. And I have only, and I, it's all because I wanted to master set the final fantasy, uh, series.

Speaker: And I've only been doing this for a year. oh Oh, y'all can do the math there. ah With that, we're going to get into allug Your Radar and go over all the major game releases that are coming out from September 28th to October 9th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be On Your Radar. All right, got to warm up the voice here because we are in the fall season, so there is a lot more than there is in the winter season.

Speaker: Alrighty, on the 28th, Keep Driving comes to PS5, Series X, and Switch, and Unshine Arcade releases on the PC. On the 29th, Gothic 2 Complete Classic Edition comes out PS5 and Series X. Minecraft Dungeons 2 releases on everything. Nivalis Knights comes out on PC. Toem 2 comes on PS5, Switch, and PC. And Way of the Hunter 2 comes to the core systems.

Speaker: No releases on the 30th, but on the 1st, Don't Fret comes to the Core Systems. Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered comes to the Core Systems and Switch. End of Abyss comes to Core Systems. Ghost of Yote Complete Edition comes to PS5. Octopath Traveler 1 and Octopath Traveler 2 both come to the Switch 2. And Rayman Origins Enhanced Editions is supposed to be out on Core and Switch 2, but that one might change.

Speaker: Keep an eye on that one. On the second, Ace Combat 8 Wings of Thieves releases on core systems. On the fifth, Ion 2 comes to PC. On the sixth, Disney's Epic Mickey Rebrush comes to Switch 2. Gears of War E-Day comes to the Series X in PC. And Star Wars Galactic Racer comes out on core platforms.

Speaker: No releases on the seventh, but on the eighth, Calx comes out on core systems in the Switch. Clive Barker's Hellraiser Revival comes to the core systems in Switch, as does... Oh, sorry.

Speaker: core systems in switch two as does echo weaver and forever ago hell is us releases on switch two kingdom of hearts collection one through three releases on the core and switch two systems and the kingdom hearts 1.5 plus 2.5 2.8 and 3 plus remind are now available on the playstation 5 series x in switch two Once Upon a Katamari comes out for Switch 2. Order of the Sinking Star comes to the PS5, Switch 2, and PC. Penguin Colony comes to the PC. Silver Pies comes to the core systems and Switch.

Speaker: The Crew Motor Fest comes to the Switch 2. And on the ninth, Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen comes to the core systems and Switch 2. And the Relic First Guardian comes to the Switch 2. Woo!

Speaker: you did it there we go as for your major releases uh starting off on the 29th minecraft dungeons 2 releases um the sequel to minecraft to dungeons 1 um pretty fairly decent games from what i've heard if you like if you like the diablo with that type of gameplay you'll like minecraft dungeons because it's basically just that yeah minecraft skin exactly ah I'm excited for Toem 2. I loved the first Toem very much, and I'm excited that a game got a sequel. And it's kind of been, like, not really, like, talked up, like, announced really. Like, it's kind of, like, been flying under the radar. Like, not many people know that a sequel is coming out that, like, unless you' were like you've been, like, actively tracking it.

Speaker: So I'm excited for Toem 2. ah The Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered ah is ah was a big deal for a couple of people that I know.

Speaker: so that's exciting to see. Ghost of Yote Complete Edition. There is also, I believe, just an upgrade if you have the game ah to get the DLC ah that comes with it because you get the Echoes of Sekigahara.

Speaker: expansion and also the new roguelike mode as well with that. um So that's exciting. I don't know if I'll play it right away, but I'll try to.

Speaker: ah Ace Combat 8 Wings of Thieves, the new Ace Combat game. ah I know that there are people that work that were excited that new Ace Combat got announced. ah TC was the one who kind of put it on my radar a little bit.

Speaker: ah But I am not good at flight games very much, especially when it comes to flying a fighter jet. Fair enough. One of the bigger releases that I know are on a lot of people's radar, Gears of War E-Day,

Speaker: the prequel to basically the entire series, uh, releasing on the six. Very, very cool. But also star Wars galactic racer drops on the same day. And the demo that was at summer game fast, how they, the NDA on that, uh, like lasted a lot longer. what When it was lifted, people said that it was the best game that they played at the event.

Speaker: Oh, that's interesting. It's very promising. ah Galactic Racer. So I'm excited to see what they do ah how and how it plays.

Speaker: ah Obviously, all the Kingdom Hearts stuff, ah you can now purchase basically all of the games in one bundle with the collection one through three, I believe. I believe that has all of the games attached to it. So everything but Melody of Memory because Melody of Memory is still separate from But the 1 through 3 collection gives you the all of the first 10 games there.

Speaker: And then all of the other collections you can purchase as well individually on PS5 Series X and Switch 2 now. And yeah, those are those are some that stood out to me. What about you? Anything stand out to you, Morpho? Outside of that, I would say that I'm super excited for Don't Fret just because I'm such a music nerd in the like when it comes to nerdcore music. um If you don't like how familiar are you with but Don't Fret as a game?

Speaker: Not. Okay. yeah So. How into nerdcore music are you? Like bands that make songs about video games?

Speaker: I like them. Okay. So with Don't Fret, Don't Fret is a nerdcore music collaboration project. So one of the biggest names in nerdcore music is Rocket Music. They are the minds behind um the Scary Kid Productions who are, you know, putting the game out. But they've worked in collaboration with JT Music and I think Longest Solo Ever. um

Speaker: And I actually got the chance to see the trailer for this long before it was released to the public because I had gone to Nerdcore Party Con that happened in Dallas last year. Yeah.

Speaker: So it was ah it was either the last year or the year before. But anyways, it's been it's so exciting. It's very interesting to say the least because the music that was produced for it, they have had songs come out like Circles and somebody else. um And it happened in a window of where JT Music was making a bunch of other songs with the popularization of Mecha Chameleon coming out as well. um But in general, it's been like seeing some of my favorite music artists come together and do like work on a game like this as one big project has been awe inspiring, especially because they're not like your typical kind of... um

Speaker: Like, this is not something that they would do, but they had said like, oh, this is something that we want to do. Give back to the community, make our own horror game instead of just writing songs about them. um So that's cool. And the game itself is an interesting thing based off of what I understand. It's like about a child's trauma with a musical instrument and like he sees himself as it or becomes it. And he's like to escape his music school. Yeah, I'm looking at the game Yeah, you're playing as like a little girl guitar ukulele yeah oh that's interesting guitar it's a it's i got to play the demo a while back um so it's really fun the music it's the sound design on this absolutely phenomenal some of the best that i've ever experienced right has come to horror games and i don't play horror games that often So taking into consideration that and like other games that I've played, I really like the sound design of it. They're taking it so seriously. think the only thing that they have a little bit lacking, because again, this is not something that is their normal, their normal field of work is the game design itself. Just some, it just needs a little polishing, honestly, but overall I'm really excited about that one. Like that is my game to look out for.

Speaker: Very cool. Very cool indeed. ah as As a guy who's not a big horror guy myself, probably not for me, but still very cool to hear about that. Yeah, that's fair.

Speaker: That's why i like doing the podcast. I learned things. I learned something today. Yippee! All right. Well, with that then, it's time for us to now dive into our main focus of the week as always and dive into this week in the Game Lounge.

Speaker: Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And our first topic of the day is voice acting in the gaming sphere. Morfo loves voice actors very much.

Speaker: So I guess the first question is who are some of your favorite voice actors that you have, Morpho? Oh. If you were to have like a top five list, who would they be Oh, okay. That's interesting. um I would say, I know I'm going to get crap for this for people that listen because they know how much I rave about how tired I am of hearing his voice. And I said it earlier, Alejandro Saab. The thing is, here's the thing.

Speaker: i have been listening to this man's voice for over 13 years. Yeah. And that's just because he started out doing like side work for voice acting for the YouTuber Aphmau and started ah picking up more roles here and there. But then he started doing more video games um because he was in Final Fantasy Resonance, Digimon Tori Stories, Time Stranger, um a bunch of other stuff. Deadpool in Marvel Rivals. it just Yeah.

Speaker: can't you can't escape him no you can't you cannot escape him and the fact that he streams too is just you you see you'll see him in the youtube feeds as well you see you saw you everywhere you you really do um Another one is I would have to say Bryce Pappenbrook. And it's like a little bit older in terms of voice acting. You'll so you'll hear because ah Bryce Pappenbrook especially got his name out there. I would say like one of his most notable roles was Meliodas from The Seven Deadly Sins. um And then he started doing ah stuff in video games as well. And his ah

Speaker: Who else? What did he play? He played Cat Noir in Miraculous Ladybug. And his partner is another one of or not partner partner. But, you know, like they typically pair up and in projects together. um Christina V. I love her her voice. She played Ladybug and Miraculous Ladybug. And oftentimes you can find both of them in the same game or the same show, whatever it is. You'll find one. You'll probably find the other one.

Speaker: Yes. So it's ah I'm trying to think of who else would be on that list, because um definitely those three, at least in terms of like kind of what got me into voice acting. Yeah.

Speaker: I think another one, although she hasn't done too much voice acting in games other than being a game dev for her own game, Seduce Me the Otome, would be Michaela Laws. um She also did voice acting for Aphmau. I'm noticing ah anytime I look back on it that Aphmau was a ah turning point for most people who was like getting started in voice acting because she also had ah Jonah Scott work for her for a little while as well um that's the guy who voiced the English for Lego She and Be Stars ah okay

Speaker: um i think i might actually consider jonah scott one of my favorites as well i think that's five very very cool very very good picks um you brought up christy i i think about christina v uh i only i didn't know her for her voice acting stuff until after i knew who she was Because I only learned about Christina V because for a brief period of time, she dated Nate Wants to Battle.

Speaker: Yes. Yeah. And then and like did some music covers alongside of him. And that's how I learned about Christina V. um And then do you know the Bryce Pappenbrook, his dad ah voice acted as well?

Speaker: i I did not know that actually. Okay. So like I, cause I saw this interview and I think you might find it very interesting. So Bryce Babinbrook's father, um one of his most iconic roles was he was the voice of Greymon in the Digimon movie.

Speaker: Oh, the the big, the big, great, the big Greymon that fought Territmon at the start of the movie. That was Bryce Babinbrook's father. oh wow. So, fun fact when the remit when they decided to re-dub the movies and release the first the first three as like their proper like more one-to-one scale of the dub and not the four kids way when they made the the original Digimon movie and they released the games as like the just Digimon adventure our war game and touchdown America or whatever it was called the third one and to release those as a blu-ray Bryce Pappenbrook who also I've voiced it has has led his voice to some Digibody Times Ranger he voiced that Greymon okay I got to got to voice it like his dad did which was a very cool thing to learn about that that's really cool

Speaker: Yeah, no, it it's it's very cool to see. um as for myself, um I am a i am a sucker for, oh God, which was Holy fuck. Am I forgetting? oh No, no. yeah I do like Yuri Lowenthal. His voice is very distinct in the projects that he does.

Speaker: um He is a great Yosuke and will always be that. But also, um what's his name? uh virgil in devil may cry yeah god what's his name he was a fucking power ranger i should know his name um dan is it uh dan southworth yeah dan southworth okay that is that i like uh i like him as well uh because of virgil and it's understandable virgil is great uh

Speaker: So you so ah so but with the games that you play, do the voice actors that you like or just like when you see certain voice actors on certain projects, does that influence you to play those games a lot more than if they weren't?

Speaker: um I think it definitely has some sort of impact um because I believe it was one of the Fire Emblem games that i that Alejandro was in that I was like, oh, okay, that's kind of interesting. I'll go and play that for him. Or ah definitely... um Oh, crap. I'm trying to remember the name of it. It was a Mana game, ah Visions of Mana. That one I saw had a bunch of ah voice actors that I was just like, oh, I know this person. I know this person. And I wanted to play it so I could just hear them as certain characters. Yeah.

Speaker: I think it's that there there are some people that I would just rather not listen to. um And I think this kind of goes into the next point that we were going to say, I'm just going to get the ball rolling on that one. Yeah. i Non-voice acting celebrities. Yeah. when ce When a regular celebrity gets cast for a voice acting role ah where voice acting isn't their primary thing.

Speaker: Uh-huh. Fuck off, Ryan Reynolds. Get the fuck out of my games. I'm sorry. Ryan Reynolds voice did it. Wait, what game? What where was this? I got it. it was It was one specific game that they used like a clip of his voice. I got to see if I can find it real quick. They didn't even get up in the booth. That's crazy.

Speaker: but did-di- it-to- do Because um it it was a little a little thing. I don't remember what game it is. i really wish that I did. um But they had used a clip from ah his ah character um in in the in the Free Guy film.

Speaker: Oh. They used a clip of that as like a little reference Easter egg. And I was i would just remember being so pissed that i blocked it out of my memory.

Speaker: Wow. Yeah. I think the thing is like video games, you don't really see this happen a lot in the video game sphere as much unless it's like, it was like back in like the early 2000s where you see like the tie movie games. It's like they they do decide to bring in those actors to voice acts in the game as well. But you really don't see that a lot unless it was like ah an animated show.

Speaker: Oh, no, that's true. that's true Especially with Ryan Reynolds, because he was like Detective Pikachu, Turbo. yeah he was He was Detective Pikachu in the movie, but the games, he's completely somebody. It's somebody else. yeah Or it's like, he actually sounds like a hard-boiled detective. But then the fucking does Detective Pikachu hurts me, though. like That's her.

Speaker: Did you ever play the Detective Pikachu games by chance? I didn't because I was actually afraid that they got Ryan Reynolds for it. I didn't even bother to check. oh so So the original Detective Pikachu game on the 3DS, it was fine.

Speaker: The story, you know, but here's the thing. They leave the story on the cliffhanger. And yeah.

Speaker: And it's like, oh, okay, well, I hope we see the sequel soon. And it's not until the Switch one came out. It's shorter than the 3DS one. It's ah easier than the first one.

Speaker: And the only cool thing about it is the ending, which honestly, they could have just put that final chapter into the 3DS and made it a complete game. Oh, that's frustrating. Like Detective Pikachu angers me. you despite like the ending being like the coolest thing about it because it utilizes Deoxys of all the Pokemon Deoxys gets used a bit too aside from just Mewtwo it's like it's like the villain spoiler if you care if I spoil it know go for it a villain of the game wants to fuse his mind with Deoxys

Speaker: oh It's like one of the coolest things bike because like obviously, like in the movie, ah Tim's dad and Pikachu, their brains got put together because of Mewtwo. This villain was trying to use Mewtwo to put him and Deoxys together, which is like, yo, fuck that's a cool use of Deoxys. Holy shit.

Speaker: And then it's just like but but everything leading up to it. And, you know, the whole game before it is just... that's very uh i think if you have a young kid it's a cool way to get them into the mystery genre but i if you're but like that's really about it that's the only reason i would justify ever touching the game again fair enough but but the voice a but yeah but it's the voice actor for detective pikachu very different from what we got with the movie yeah so vastly different

Speaker: And then I guess the next best example for that ah is the Mario movie. Oh, yeah. And, uh, uh, mushroom kingdom. Here we come, which didn't make it into the final cut. Thank god But the man, the boy, those, uh, those memes that came out of Chris Pratt's of those of that was like, Oh, I'm kind of nervous about this. It wasn't the worst performance he could have given.

Speaker: And I think like, it's very much like such an interesting casting decision that they went with that movie with, with, the with with the roles, like some of them being, Oh yeah, that works great. And it played off great.

Speaker: Like Jack black, I think is, I think of all of the care, all of the like a list actors, right. out there he is probably the one that like can do voice acting in games if he was offered it probably the best i wouldn't be too like upset with the choices considering he's also done a video game before as well though right Well, I think the thing with also specifically Chris Pratt is i i loved how he voiced Emmett in the Lego movie and in Lego Dimensions, obviously he's going to voice Emmett again. I was not expecting Chris Pratt's voice to come out of Owen in Lego Jurassic World.

Speaker: Wait, he he voiced he voiced his character in Lego Jurassic World 2. I didn't realize. didn't know that. oh He was also, ah what's his name? Like the buggy looking guy ah from Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction.

Speaker: Oh. What's his name? um I don't know. Cooper Daniels. Oh. oh Oh, I know you're talking about now. Yeah. He he also voiced him, which is really interesting.

Speaker: I didn't realize Chris Pratt had that the voice acting. I forgot that he was but in the Lego movie, which tells you how much I paid attention to the Lego movie. um Oh, I mean, he's a lot of Lego stuff because the Lego movie had a bunch of crap come out with it. But he was also in um the Onward movie, The Older Brother.

Speaker: ah oh and then um i guess more recently the um 2024 garfield movie that was him too i forgot about that one he was he was gar he's garfield and mario two very notable italians and their love of lasagna uh-huh oh good lord No, very definitely. the with With these non-VA celebrities voice acting, do you ever think it will reach a point where it's like we'll see them in video games as well?

Speaker: i I definitely do think so. I mean, it's already been a thing of like having non-voice acting celebrities come in and do like little voice lines here or there. Maybe not voicing the entire character, but you know, whenever they're making certain sounds of like picking up an object or, you know, things like that, they'll go and they'll do that. um It's always nice to be able to like recognize voices every now and then. um yeah i just hope that it...

Speaker: As bad as it sounds, I hope that it's not like a regular occurrence because um there are a lot of voice actors that struggle to get their name out there because people are like, I'm chasing after the big voice. You know, I want the well-known something because, you know, that gets people to come to my thing.

Speaker: um But at the same time, it's like also they don't have experience. They don't know how to utilize inflection or tone of voice. Yeah. or volume control. So when it comes to them actually doing it, their delivery is not the best, especially if they're just there for the money grab and not actually willing to go in and learn what it takes to be a voice actor or learn like the tips and tricks on how to um say like, I am this character, this is how this character acts rather than, hey, I'm just me and going to be, you're going hear my voice out of this character's mouth. It doesn't matter if it matches or not, you know? Yeah.

Speaker: So like I'm, I'm all for it as long as they go for and they take the time to learn. Gotcha. No, that's valid. What are your thoughts on. the On characters looking like so specific, like by characters being their designs being based off of celebrities or like what with like they're basically that's what we're we're looking at when we're playing the game is just them. ah With the example being the upcoming Stranger Than Heaven that RGG is producing next year.

Speaker: um I think that one, it's it's a little bit more iffy. I feel like if it's um to a like in honor of so of a celebrity that has passed and it looks like that celebrity and it's purely like we are doing an honorable thing, it's a tribute to them. um And you know that that is what I would consider okay as long as like it's something that is in...

Speaker: honor and very like in a respectful manner of it yeah um or if for example uh jack septic eye he had a oh yeah he had a cameo in first light he did yeah yeah so like that and then i think they actually got him to voice it too like yeah Yeah, think things like that I enjoy because yeah it's consenting to both parties. They like it as long as it's not like a um like a caricature over a celebrity that has done absolutely nothing wrong and you know is like genuinely a good person. um

Speaker: it If it's to make fun of someone, that's when I'm just like, okay, well, you didn't have to do that, but all right. Gotcha, gotcha. Out of just sheer curiosity, what are your thoughts on Tupac being in Stranger Than Heaven?

Speaker: i don't. i Okay. This is coming from someone who has no clue what either of those are. care. Oh, you.

Speaker: Okay, fair. I'm just going to move on from that. Okay. I don't want to be the one who teaches you about like some of the... I mean, you don't recognize the name Tupac? Oh, wait, right. I forgot how young you are. Wait.

Speaker: Wait, no. that's Sorry. I'm answering my own question. I forgot about that part. Right. I forgot. i i Okay, so for for dear listeners, I was born in 2003.

Speaker: Yeah, I forgot you're a baby. forgot about that part. I forgot you are a literal child. Okay, okay. I forgot about that.

Speaker: Listen, listen, that doesn't i'd like i I kind of recognize the name in terms of rap because I grew up listening to rap because of my family. um I don't care enough about rap music to dedicate people's names to my head.

Speaker: Gotcha. No. ah Well, to to put it short, Tupac, ah one of the West Side Rapper, one of the biggest names to come out of the essentially the rap scene.

Speaker: ah He was killed in a they basically shot, killed, killed, drive like drive by oh which spawned also the death of Biggie on the East Coast um and it's rumored to believe that it was like carried out by i believe it was like one of the I believe he was by Suge Knight a producer i all alleged I don't know it's actually and whatnot um And it was a big deal. Like, know, Tupac was definitely a big name in the rap scene. People, you put a lot of respect. So when it was revealed that Tupac and his likeness were being used as Stranger Than Heaven, the upcoming RGG game set as a prequel to all the Yakuza games, it took a lot of people by surprise.

Speaker: Okay. I feel as though it' ah in that case, then as long as they're being um like respectful about it um and not using like an AI of his voice, then. Yeah, i and you don't know if it's we don't know what his voice is, but the voice detail is going to be with that. Okay. Or if he'll even speak at all. I think it would be best if he doesn't speak at all. But yeah i don't we don't know. but that's the funny that's the That's the scariest thing about this. Now bringing this up We don't know what he'll sound like.

Speaker: Okay. um let Actually, i don't know. Doing a quick Google search, it looks like um that it based off of some of the stuff that's listed here, the director address ah addressed some of the concerns and in insist family approved. yeah yeah Yeah, a lot of people were because it's like... yeah It's a much more common thing in the East ah because they're using also using the likeness of the legendary Yakuza actor Buta Fujiwara, who also passed away many, many years ago. His likeness is being used in the game, um but that's very a lot more commonly seen in the in the East than it is in the West.

Speaker: um So, but like, it's like, it's kind of fine when we see like Eastern actors and that happening in media, ah because it's like, oh yeah, we, we, we never really knew that who that person was unless you're like a huge, like movie buff of that genre that they were in.

Speaker: ah So seeing it for the first time with a Western celebrity like to this kind of scale is definitely very different and we were like well did they get the estates like the family's approval with all of this that was a very big uh concern especially considering what the current like situation with tupac's estate and family is as well yeah And you're like who ah owns his likeness, essentially.

Speaker: It's a whole vastly separate conversation ah to dive into one day. Yeah. um But yeah, it's it's definitely, definitely a thing.

Speaker: no Okay. So have you done any voice acting morpho? I have. So what what have you what ah so what's what was' what's the experience been like? What have you voice acted in?

Speaker: um Generally speaking, because I do ah volunteer voice acting work, um i work with a small production group, um Louis.

Speaker: I don't know actually how to pronounce his last name. um But if if you'd like, I can link you the the channel. Yes. I've been working with him. I've done two projects of his and they...

Speaker: in what got me into voice acting actually was Minecraft role plays and going back to like Aphmau growing up and having nothing to do but watch Minecraft videos I watched her play like Minecraft Tech it and then slowly get into I know you I know why you're laughing shut up yeah hey no I I had a very similar experience growing up and watching Minecraft people play Minecraft yeah very similar very similar ah At the very least, it's like um watching her slowly go into um like making roleplay stuff and like the world that she was building and then seeing, um like, oh my god, that character has a voice coming out of it in Minecraft and making it more like a show than but than the game itself. I was so fascinated by it that I was like, oh,

Speaker: That's something that I want to do. And so I started looking on this one particular website that has ah casting calls for like, hey, I'm doing this particular project. um I may or may not be able to provide you know you money, but at the very least, this could go on your resume um and so you can slowly start building a portfolio. So.

Speaker: When I found Louie, I had originally um auditioned for a different character and then he assigned me to ah this one girl, Layla, who was supposed to be like college bully, bit of a bitchy character. um But then he had asked me to come back again for another another voice. um and So I was like, yeah, no, I would love to do that. But more often than not, like occasionally you will find a good a good director that is good and um always straightforward with communication. Like, hey, I need this by this line. um I will go in and do all of the editing for the voice work. I just need you to put your lines in. Don't worry about sending me anything else.

Speaker: But then other times and more often than not, unfortunately, you'll get... um People that are like, this is their first project, which, you know, in and of itself, not a bad thing. They're learning and, you know, you're learning too. That's why you're out there doing this. But most times the projects don't end up ever seeing the light of day. And it's real sad because a lot of these people, they come up with these great ideas, a lot of projects, but because they're working by themselves and trying to do everything themselves, they're it never yeah it comes to light because they're doing it by themselves and they like the pressure of it. Oh yeah. Is what destroys them.

Speaker: Yeah. so absolutely. Yeah. So I'm just like that. I understand it, that you're running a small project. So I've done voice acting for more than just two projects, but because again of this thing of like life happening pretty much um a lot of the projects haven't actually been published. So i'm I'm still in their discords, like waiting around saying like, hey, do you still need my help? Or the worst experience that I've had a little bit is being brought on for a voice actor saying that I got the role. And then when it came to actually being in the discord and, you know, talking to them about, you know, hey, what's going on with this? Then them turning around and telling me, oh, no, you didn't actually get the role for the character. You got casted as a backup voice actor um and then never reaching out to me ever again.

Speaker: Jesus. Yeah, that's why I was like, okay, i kind of wasted my time here a little bit. I wish you guys luck and so long. And I love the server. Wow, that's nuts.

Speaker: Yeah. And then um they came back after the fact and they they harassed me in DMs like, why'd you leave? We were still going to use you. i'm like, that's not what I signed up for respectfully. Like I auditioned for this character.

Speaker: You said I got this character and then you took it away from me. That's not me being upset about anything. That's you being unprofessional and not wanting to take responsibility for your mistake. Yeah. That's why I'm leaving.

Speaker: And then you turning around and doubling down on this and not owning up to the fact that you did make a mistake and not being willing to talk it out. That shows me what kind of company that you're wanting to run. And I don't want to be a part of that. I'm sorry. And having to take a step back.

Speaker: Yeah. No, at least you handled that very professionally. Yeah, it was it was tough. And especially because, and i I do feel a little bit bad because, again, they're learning and most of the people that put projects on these websites, they're like in their teens and they're learning stuff and they're trying to balance school and stuff like that. But me as an adult too,

Speaker: I'm having to be like, okay, well, I don't feel comfortable, you know, interacting with people in this particular age range and then going and lying about that. So that is also something you have to be very careful of.

Speaker: Yeah. Oh yeah. That's a, yeah. Yeah. yeah ah Are there some ah character tropes that you like voicing more than others? Yeah.

Speaker: I would say me personally, I do like doing ah more mean characters than anything else because it's fun. It's not typically what people would see me doing because they they're like, oh, it's Marfa. And like, hi, guys, how are you? But ah when it comes to me doing that, you're a bitch. Yeah. Go fuck yourself. Pretty much. I remember one of the characters that I had voiced for Louis. He had me audition with the line of like, OK, well, listen, i heard that there's this person out there that was talking to you. And, you know, you kind of smell. But at the same time, there's being trash and then there's you. So you're like a solid three steps below. So if you would kindly like get out of my side, I would very much appreciate it.

Speaker: And I was just like, Jesus Christ, that's what you want to say? All right. it doesn't It doesn't sound like me. You're a third-rate duelist with fourth-rate deck.

Speaker: I mean, pretty much, yeah. But i do I do enjoy those types of roles, but um I do mostly get typecasted as the mother role because I've had... I've had directors ah like say like, Hey, I really liked your audition for this character, but I think you would be better suited for this kind of character. And this happened to me ah fairly recently, actually, um that the director, he turned around and he's like, I'm going to create a mother character for you just because that's how your voice sounds to me. And i was like, all right, I'll record new lines then. that That's, it that's, that's a very interesting comment to get. because I don't,

Speaker: Personally, i don't I don't, I mean, I can kind of see that a little bit. I wouldn't, it was not my first like thing to like recognize with your with your voice. ah Especially, so with how with with with how young you are getting, so you're like, da you're a mother. How does yeah how does like how does that make your feel of like I'm not going to lie. It does get to me a little bit because more like the people when they say stuff like that. I've been confused as my girlfriend's mother several times actually. When we've just been out in public because of like my figure versus hers. She does still look a little bit like at least could pass for high school at the very least. But we went out shopping one time and um we were going to go put together outfits for a concert. You know, we were doing our own little thing and I was giving her outfits to try on in the dressing room. And I go to the the um the counter where the guy is there and he's with his son. And he just he sits there and he goes, are you guys back to school shopping? And I was like, oh, it in my mind, I'm i'm there thinking like, oh, he thinks we're back to school shopping. Like we're both so young. No, he thought that I was taking to her back to school shopping. And I only know this because he immediately followed it up with like, oh yeah, you know, kids these age, they like they start to get to you. they you know They start acting up. They give you gray hairs. You know how it is. Huh?

Speaker: what do you What do you mean? I know how it is. I'm not that old. is Is your partner older than you in your relationship? Yes, she is. That's that Oh my god, Martha. No, no.

Speaker: Oh my god, I feel so bad for you now. What the fuck? No, that's not. I mean, here's the thing. On one side, that is a super hilarious, funny story. I know. like That is so funny. But also, oh my god, I feel so bad. I feel bad for her or too, especially because like we've gone out to restaurants together like on a date and they go and they bring her kids menu.

Speaker: Oh, my God. No. It's it's bad. And then um I do think it's funny because I don't even think that my voice is that high pitched or that I like like mama. Mama thought I was in my forty s carrots did yeah she thought i was in my 40s she thought care i mean to be fair there's not a lot of brain cells going up there

Speaker: um to be look to be fair hey hey there's there she's part of team final brain cell so it's like it's her okay i'm using her own evidence against her in case i'm held up in court later for those comments um

Speaker: Jesus. No, I thought like when we first met, I thought you were like maybe mid twenties. Cause usually that's granted. That's usually what like, that's what everybody i else was. But when you told us your age in the, like the one time I was floored by that yeah because you are the youngest in the game lounge crew history to be a part of like this big collective now. And ah like, it's,

Speaker: i' like it it's like it's It doesn't feel like you're that young. Yeah, that's true. With like the stuff that you like say and how you talk and like your interests and whatnot. I'm like, oh yeah, joe she's definitely got to be like closer to like the median age and not have not the be the one that's bringing the gauge group the age range down.

Speaker: Which is so so interesting. Well, I think in your defense there, then it's because um my parents did wait to have children. So they're in their 60s now. Oh, real I mean, that's not too. My parents are in their 60s, too. So like but that's exactly the thing. It's like, I'm 22. Right. Yes. Forgot. Yeah, that's like, oh, yeah, our parents are the same range. Yeah. though that but My parents had me without when they were younger, though. That's the difference there, Tony. That's the difference. Yeah. So 22. They're in their 60s. They waited until they were in their 40s. So I did grow up with with dial-up and ah landline phone and, you know, no internet. Oh, you know what? It's because you had those similar instances that you're able to blend in a lot more to our crowd. Which, I mean, I use that as an... I mean...

Speaker: it's It's a great chameleon trait to have. That is very true. And then the games that I grew up with, I did have a lot of GameCube games. GameCube was my first console. Which is the best console, by the way. Absolutely agree. And on top of that, I did have the plug-in plays, too.

Speaker: had of those. Oh, my God. Okay, which which ones did you have for those? um I believe I had the Pac-Man one and then a Casino one because they were my grandfather's. Oh, nice. We had this one that was a snowboard ah where it was six buttons underneath it. And essentially by leading a certain way, by standing on the snowboard on top of it, which had this like a sphere at the bottom, you put it into the base and you can stand on it. And the way that you were supposed to like hit the buttons, it's like ah top left, top right, center left, center right, bottom left, bottom right. And that would like adjust your snowboard and the way you're moving on this plug and play console. And then we had a SpongeBob one.

Speaker: Where his nose is a controller. Oh, good Lord. Yeah. ah the of The classics, of course. Yeah. ah But well it's, yeah, no, it's cool. and Okay, so to get, now to circle back to voice acting. Right. ah Are there...

Speaker: what kind of impact does critical role have on voice acting nowadays and like their impact on to the industry? Uh, and, uh, with their impact, could they be doing more to bring in, uh, smaller talents and who are some voice actors that you think should, uh, get some more recognition?

Speaker: m um I definitely think like at the very least they've been doing some ah some pretty amazing work. Honestly, they've definitely spearheaded people um becoming sort of like me and my passion for voice acting of ah voice actor spotters of like, oh, let's play a game. Let's figure out what other voices that these people are in so I can hear them. Yeah.

Speaker: At the very least, I think they could bring in maybe one or two more people every now and then of like, these are new voice actors in the industry, you know, kind of help some smaller creators out. But honestly, I think they're doing a pretty decent job as is. And ah as someone who doesn't also watch Critical Role at all. That's coming from someone who like, this is what I've heard in passing, what I am aware of. So considering i don't pay attention to critical role at all and knowing that they have that at least that much bit of an impact, I'd say that they're doing a pretty good job.

Speaker: I think with some of the um voice actors, though, that go into the next point of like deserving a little bit more recognition, um people that have I've seen um around Courtney Shaw being one of them. we We talked about her a little bit before. Yeah. um Some of that are kind of in the medium round ah realm of of a voice acting, Erica Lindbeck and Elsie Lovelock. um I think a lot of the time that those two get a lot of hate from their work in ah in Hell of a Boss and Amazing Digital Circus and Murder Drones. It's just because of the fan base hating on it so much. They're like, I hate these people's voices, you know? And at the end of the day, like...

Speaker: If they have their own controversies as a person, that's its own thing. Do not discredit a voice actor for the work that they do when they're just trying to go out there and get their job done. You know, cough, cough, cough, pretty much.

Speaker: ah Yeah, that's pretty much all I have to say on that. It's it's not too much, but. ah Last question I got for you before we move on to our second topic. What advice would you give to aspiring voice actors?

Speaker: I would say just get out there. Even if it's something like you're not totally comfortable with, there's a certain amount of like leeway you have to be willing to give yourself. If it's way too out of your comfort zone, don't do it. It's it's as simple as like finding websites that um has different projects, different voice acting stuff. If you want to get paid right off the bat, that's not something that's going to be totally realistic to to look into right away um at the very least without any sort of experience beforehand. However, there are some still good ones out there it's just really just looking for what you're okay with what kind of projects you're into like for me it was minecraft role plays that's what i started looking into first and then just trying to branch out as much as possible really starting to do volunteer work to like build a resume like this is what i've done this is what i've showcased and at the very minimum please make yourself a demo reel like

Speaker: Even if it's just ah like cover examples of like, this is what I would sound like if I was this character, you know, something that showcases your your range, like what you can do as different characters.

Speaker: Hey, it's me, Goku. Pretty, pretty much, honestly. so so Yeah.

Speaker: Hey, yeah, you. You've been gaming for six hours straight with no hydration station. You're starting to look like a ghoul from Fallout 4. Go drink some water.

Speaker: Yeah, that's it. That's the whole message. Drink water, you gremlin. Perfect. All right. Well, with that, we're going dive into our second topic, a little shorter, just be looking at the time here.

Speaker: ah The 2026 games, we are basically in the fall season. uh when it comes to game releases now are there any uh games uh coming out within these last three months of the year that you are excited for morpho godzilla destroy all monsters melee remastered yeah that's what i want to talk about here godzilla destroy all monsters melee remastered this is a game that originally was out on the gamecube i believe it also had a ps2 and an xbox port uh

Speaker: I guess the question here, what got you into Godzilla? Like what was it that got you into the Godzilla and like that monster franchise? um I would actually say my grandfather um because i don't – this is going to sound bad. I have two grandfathers on my mother's side. One um is estranged, divorced from my grandmother, and then the other one is her stepfather. They both um were in ah either the Vietnam War or the Korean War. One of them was in one. The other one was in the other, and I don't remember which. Okay. But the grandfather that was there, he was in the war and he was like really into um the the Asian culture over there and after the fact. And he was a huge fan of the Kaijus. And although I didn't like him as a person, I tried my darndest to like find something to bond with him over because he hated me. So I was like...

Speaker: Yeah, i did a little bit dark, but I was like, must yeah, holy. ah But like, I wanted him to like me. So I was looking at stuff that he was into. I was like, that's a cool creature. What is that? And he would talk hours about what Godzilla was and how he loved the series. And then um i think I was around, i want to say six or seven years old, where I started watching movies. And then eventually ah my mother gifted me the Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee game for GameCube.

Speaker: And then I started playing. I started playing with him. I started playing with my mom and I fell in love with the game. It was so cool hearing the the monsters roar, all of the different creatures, ah the power-ups. I loved everything about it. um So with the remake coming out, i'm I'm so excited watching the trailer and hearing those same like exact familiar voices coming out of these monsters. it just It actually made me cry a little because I was just like... wow This feels like home. This feels like my childhood all over again. i just I loved it and I'm so excited for it.

Speaker: Oh, wow. That's really cool. I haven't played the game myself. I think I picked it up at just the retro game store that I frequent at. It is like, oh, hey, I don't have this one yet. It's time to add it to the collection.

Speaker: ah but i didn't but it's also like oh i didn't realize godzilla had a game on the gamecube as well uh because you you know you don't really think of it that much because godzilla doesn't really have like a whole lot of games either which is also very surprising yeah no unfortunately like Usually it's like Godzilla's featured in a game via DLC or cameo-wise, obviously with the Sonic being the most recent one. But I believe it was ah Mega Bash being the one that had like a Godzilla DLC pack, because it was like also like a kaiju fighting game-esque.

Speaker: um So what what if they were to make like a new Godzilla game, then what would you hope to see out of it? what What kind of game would you like to see out of ah ah out of a new Godzilla themed game?

Speaker: ah That's interesting. um ah because Honestly, I never really thought about that because when we see Godzilla movies, we'll see them like um did the typical ah story plot of like, hey, it's Godzilla. He's either destroying the city or he's come to rescue the city. One of the two. is City is being destroyed. Yeah.

Speaker: I feel like a cop-out would be for them to do like a Godzilla vs. Kong or Ghidorah, like any kind of fighting game, but doing it story-wise. um

Speaker: It's a little bit difficult to do just because of the nature of the movies. Godzilla goes, subtitles, I have come to destroy you, Mothra. I'm on ground right now and face thy wrath.

Speaker: Mothra, how dare you face me with this pen with your insults, Godzilla. I will fly so high up you won't even be able to hit me with that bit fire breath of yours.

Speaker: mm-hmm

Speaker: pretty much i do think that's something that would be interesting though um you could potentially do if it was gods at least godzilla related would be like a life game of like working on the set of godzilla of like oh we need to order this we need to have the actors do this or god ah the godzilla movie Godzilla movie set simulator. and Yeah, pretty much. Or like, uh, like Kaiju film simulator or whatever. and you're like, have you done? Kaiju films.

Speaker: so or Or having like a little segment dedicated to playing as the actor in one of the old Godzilla movie suits and like i couldn't destroying stuff. i would be that would be That would be so funny.

Speaker: um I think like if we were to see anything in modern day, we we would probably see something similar to that of Peter Jackson's King Kong. game where it's like instead of it being in the on Kong's Island, they do something where it's like you're surviving in Tokyo when Godzilla's striking.

Speaker: And it's like, you are oh, a escape simulator type game where it's like different scenarios each time or like a a randomly generated Tokyo and you got to escape while the city's getting destroyed by Godzilla and a different kaiju fighting.

Speaker: o that would be cool. And like, active yeah, having to dodge stuff. yeah Yeah. we go. there there's what There's what you need to do, games industry. Make it happen.

Speaker: um Are there any other games ah that you're excited for in the remainder of the year? um off Off the top of my head, I don't really know what's coming out this year, other than the Godzilla one, because I'm super excited for the game and the movie.

Speaker: um that That's fair. Oh, yeah, yeah, because the new movie comes out very soon as well. Yeah, but it's three days after. Three days after. Wow. Yeah. Godzilla minus one.

Speaker: a Minus zero. Minus zero. I was close. That one comes out November 6th. ah that one comes out november six ah All right. ah Well, with that, it's time for us to now head on into the bonus level to start closing things out on another episode here on the podcast.

Speaker: Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick it off, we got Game Clash. This is a small little tournament of specific games or media related things. And I figured since Morpho loves Godzilla so much, ah we would pit ah eight of Godzilla's foes that are not mechanical ah because there are various mecha versions of every Godzilla monster too. So we just grabbed eight Godzilla monsters and we put them against each other. Morpho, you can decide the winner on each match. Are you ready?

Speaker: All right. All right. Match one. Hedera versus King Ghidorah. o

Speaker: I want to say Ghidorah, but my heart says Hedera. Oh, okay. ah Match two. Rodan versus Megalon. I think that one might end in a tie because Rodan is always in the air and Megalon can pretty much always be in the ground.

Speaker: But however, as soon as Rodan lands, it's over. so i say Megalon wins. Megalon on that one. Match three, Mothra versus Ibira.

Speaker: have o i i i have to say

Speaker: He's got the pinchers. All right. Match four. Biollante versus Anguirus.

Speaker: Um, hmm. Biollante. Okay. Moving on to the semifinals. Hedera versus is Megalon.

Speaker: Hedera, unfortunately. And Abira versus Biollante. Biollante. All right, grand finals. Hetero versus Biollante.

Speaker: Biollante. Biollante takes it all. ah And then by a lot then the secret final match, Biollante versus Godzilla. Oh, well.

Speaker: Do I need to answer this one? ah Only if you want to. ah it's it's um ah I I thought.

Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Because the there was a movie about it, but it ends in a near draw. That's the thing. Oh, that's actually interesting. I did not know that.

Speaker: Yeah, there's a stalemate between Godzilla and Biollante. So... um We're giving you another stalemate, folks!
