EP 97: June Catch Up

Mom Group Chat
Avatar
1.7k Plays1 month ago

It’s time for our June catch-up! This week on Mom Group Chat, we’re talking about all the things—starting with our Memorial Day weekend plans and how we’re navigating the early stages of toddler logic (spoiler: they’re finally starting to understand consequences... kind of?). We chat about the idea of “earning things back,” whether we need to level up our discipline game, and if it’s finally time to break out the ol’ behavior chart.

Candace also gives a full recap of Hannah’s dreamy wedding day (yes, there was a dance floor moment) and shares an update on how TJ and Andrew are doing.

Come hang with us—this one feels like sitting on the porch with your best friends, drink in hand, wondering if your kid just manipulated you or if they’re actually becoming a decent human.

Memorial Weekend Plans

Speaker
There's no right way to do it. Oh, we're going to get into it. What up, moms? My name is Candice, and I'm here with my best friend, Whitney.
00:00:18
Speaker
And this is the Mom Group Chat Podcast. Hey, guys. What's up? Hello. i cannot believe it is June. It is about to be June. I mean, we're here We're going into Memorial weekend.
00:00:33
Speaker
It's exciting times. Any things to do We actually have, we have some plans. They're like, it's like loosey goosey though. which is honestly nice.
00:00:44
Speaker
You know, um we are going on a pirate ship um on Sunday. Yeah. So the Lost Pearl, which is like a pirate ship company. Okay. For those of you that like don't know anything about Tampa, like pirates are our thing. Okay. We have the Gasparilla parade every year. I've definitely think I've talked about it on this podcast before about Gasparilla and Gasparilla weekend and whatever. Anyways, pirates are a big deal here.
00:01:09
Speaker
And there's like a pirate ship, like what's it called? Like excursion that they have here. And it's like a legit pirate ship and they leave like two or three times a day.
00:01:20
Speaker
And for the adults, it's like open bar and like, honestly it's like a booze cruise and then they have like activities for kids and it's like very um like kid friendly anyways the lost pearl reached out to me and they were like we'd love to have you on they reached out to us yes i'm so sorry yes yes i'm so sorry i did not mean to downplay i'm actually the only one that lives here and i was like fuck You were like, do I come down for pirate ship excursion? No, we will definitely reach out to them again whenever you are in Tampa and we'll do it again. But we took them up on their offer and we are going this weekend.

Yacht Clubs and Lifestyles

00:01:59
Speaker
We invited some of our like close friends who have three kids to come with us so that the Chidlins will have friends. Yeah. And I'm excited. And then other than that, like just going to the Yacht Club pool with my in-laws, chilling, catching up on some house things. Like we haven't had a weekend here in so long. so i we're just, we just have like and three house things Yeah.
00:02:23
Speaker
So I'm just excited to like do some things around the house, honestly. Can we talk about really quick the funniest little video conversation between Graydon and Alice last night? Because they like to send videos back and forth to each other. Yeah. And so Alice got her hair cut. We're getting pretty gorgeous pics of Alice with her hair. And so Graydon wanted to send a video back and he was in the pool and he was like, Alice, do you want to come swimming? And then...
00:02:56
Speaker
all we get a video back from Alice and she's like Graydon do you want to come to the yacht club pool like was like Vinny and I are concerned honestly like are we we're raising a little like yuppie yacht club brat I think we were like she's bad and bougie baby she's like actually Graydon you want to come to my yacht club pool I just need everyone to know that we are not members of the Yacht Club. It is my in-laws and we mooch off of their membership and go.
00:03:30
Speaker
um i did not grow up a Yacht Club kid. was so funny.
00:03:38
Speaker
And in the same vein, Alice now, like, I think maybe I've told this story, but I'm not sure. We have that little Target checkout counter, you know, that she got for Christmas. Oh, yeah.
00:03:49
Speaker
And whenever you're paying for your, like, Target, she loves to play Target checkout, you know? And whenever she's, like, you pay for your Target things, the way that she asks you to pay is she goes, what's your number?
00:04:03
Speaker
And I just thought, it at first I was like, okay, she's just just like asking for like number, because it has like a little keypad, you know. And then it dawned on me that that's how you pay at the yacht club is you give, they ask you what's your number. Yes, man. And so that's like what she knows is that like that's how you pay for things at the Yacht Club is with your member number. And I was like, oh, my God. Dude, that's kind of funny. Like she's growing like in that weird. Like she's growing a completely different life.
00:04:35
Speaker
from you yeah oh 100 oh her life is so different than mine like which I guess like is what we want right like don't we want our kids to like have a better life than we had but in the same vein don't get me wrong like my life wasn't was great and but like she definitely has more privilege and like
00:05:00
Speaker
What's the word? Like, I don't, I don't want' think her growing up at the yacht club is going to screw her up or any way, you know? Well, I'm going to keep her ass in check. That's it's like it's a conversation that Vinny and I have a lot about like, we are not raising like bratty, uppity kids. And did he grow up going there?
00:05:22
Speaker
No, not really. no It's just like they joined Yeah. Yeah. Like they didn't join until like it Alice was like six months when they joined. So it's not um been like, you know, long thing. I grew up, we had a country club and we were a part of it. Like that's where we went to the pool, but it's, we only were there for like food and pool access because we didn't have a pool growing up. And now it's like,
00:05:48
Speaker
okay, my kids are going to grow up with a pool. Like, I didn't have that growing up. yeah But um I have one friend that's part of the Brentwood Country Club here, and it is noise.
00:06:02
Speaker
Like, it reminds me of the Yacht Club, not looking at the ocean, but it's like... Oh, this is, like, really freaking nice. Like, the bar is massive, overlooks this open golf course. And I was like, oh, I could, like, get into some shit here.
00:06:18
Speaker
martinis. I do, like, not even going to lie to you. Like, I do want that to be in Vinny and I's future. Like, I do want to be... comfortable enough to where we could join the yacht club ourselves and make that happen and like not have to like, you know, rely on my in-laws.
00:06:41
Speaker
Um, but realistically in this economy, That's not happening for 10, 15 years. I'm like, it's just not like, it's not a priority for us right now. I mean, obviously, but I, it's just, I would only join to he like be able to eat there. And it's just like, I'm not going to go the pool there when I have one here. And like, we were, we were a part of the Providence private club up there and it was only a supper club. Yeah.
00:07:14
Speaker
So that's like, so on the street of our old house at the end of it was the Stovall Club, which is like a social club, like, and they do not have a pool, but it's like dinner, bars, like, and then like, they have like meeting rooms and stuff. And it was very cute in there and like very fancy.
00:07:32
Speaker
And, um... the The membership there is very, very reasonable, actually, like as far as like social clubs go. um And that was something that we were like, oh, if we like if we weren't in this phase of like young kids, because also kids are not allowed at Stoval. There's like one day a week where they're like allowed at dinner, but it's 100% more of like an adult And so that was something that was like, damn, if you know if we didn't have kids, we'd be all over that. but
00:08:06
Speaker
I think when we have like teenagers that are like doing their own thing every weekend and like we just want to get drinks and dinner with friends, like that's a nice thing to have, you know? i know.
00:08:17
Speaker
It

Friends Visiting for the Weekend

00:08:18
Speaker
is so fun. And it was fun. It was like you had to be tapped to be even accepted in. And then, well, luckily, like we knew people in it, but then you had to pay lot of money to join. And then on top of the monthly dues, it was like,
00:08:32
Speaker
yeah All right. Yeah, we did that without kids. Now I'm like, I can't even justify it, but like I would love to be invited if anyone wants to invite me to dinner at the country club. I'm going sit at the bar and get a martini in that ambiance.
00:08:48
Speaker
I'm in. I 100% agree. But anyways, back to the videos between... uh, Graydon and Alice, love watching them talk to each other and send those videos back and forth.
00:09:02
Speaker
Like maybe it's like wishful thinking here, but I, it feels flirty. No, I wish i when I'm showing the video back, I wish I was recording him watching it.
00:09:14
Speaker
Like that's what I wish you could see because he is a cheese ball. Yeah, like that's exactly how Alice is. Like, that's why Vinny and I are laughing so hard in the background because we just watched her watch his video and she's like smiling. And like, she like before we press record, she was like fixing her hair. And I was like,
00:09:35
Speaker
oh your Your like is showing. Okay. They're like little pen pals. It's really cute. It's really cute. We definitely need to get them together soon because she talks about it like constantly, constantly.
00:09:49
Speaker
He's always trying to like be funny too at the end. I always cut it off before he gets grotesque because he's like, I'm going to send Alice a toot. And I'm like, no, Graydon's like, don't do that.
00:10:03
Speaker
Honestly, she'd probably laugh. She's kind of into that kind of stuff. I'm just like, no, we're being cute. Don't be gross. Dude, Evie's, I'm getting nanit notifications.
00:10:15
Speaker
Okay. Never mind. She's laying down. She's fine. Speaking of nanit notifications. What? Well, we have visitors coming this weekend.
00:10:26
Speaker
And I'm so excited. It's our besties from Rhode Island. um Shout out Jane. She listens every week and she texts me every Tuesday and and recaps with me. And I'm like, Jane, I don't even remember what we talked about sometimes. And she reminds me and she'd be like, oh my God, buth blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:10:42
Speaker
But it's so funny. um They're coming this weekend. We are so excited. They're bringing their baby Esther, who's 10 months old. And I was like, oh my gosh, I cannot wait to see Margo interact with a baby because she loves baby dolls right now, which I never went through that phase.
00:10:59
Speaker
Didn't know she was going be into it. Oh, that was my shit, man. I loved, I i remember i this is like one of those weird childhood, early, early childhood memories. I must've been three or four.
00:11:14
Speaker
and I remember I stuffed my dress with a blanket to look pregnant. And I was like, cause I had one of those play kitchens in my room and i was like, stuff my dress to look pregnant. And I was like playing in the kitchen, in my little kitchen, like playing house. And I had a baby doll in the,
00:11:33
Speaker
in my little stroller. And I remember my dad walking in and being like, what are you doing? And I ripped the blanket out from under my dress. And I was like, nothing. And I remember him being like, oh like that was weird. Like i his vibe to me was like, that was a strange. And if you got caught?
00:11:51
Speaker
Yeah. Like I got nervous that he like saw me being pregnant. Yeah.
00:11:58
Speaker
That is so funny. No, I like totally skipped baby dolls. I didn't like them. I think I was like stuffed animal straight to Barbie. Okay. got it kind of I played with Barbies till I was like 12. Like I was very into Barbie.
00:12:14
Speaker
um And like I liked those diva brat dolls. Like I was very yeah those Betty spaghetti type shit. um Polly pocket, but skip the baby doll. Margo's way into it. So I'm like, oh, she's going to fucks with this baby. She's going to love him Love her. well It's going to be so sweet.

Children's Play Habits

00:12:35
Speaker
I'm excited. how You'll have to send me videos. I hope she's not in her like grill the whole time. going to be like, I'm so sorry. Because Esther cannot escape Margo yet. So she ain't walking.
00:12:47
Speaker
I'm like, oh my God, I'm going to have to watch this child. That's so cute. I can't wait to see. You'll have to take some videos. Yeah, I'm excited. Well, that's exciting. What do y'all have planned for the weekend?
00:12:59
Speaker
They're so funny. The only things they requested is barbecue. So obviously, Edley's, aka Bushwhackers. Yeah, yeah. This weekend. You gotta.
00:13:11
Speaker
Yep. I was trying to think, where did we probably took you to Edley's. Is it like a old house looking thing? I mean, yeah, probably. but If we had a Bushwhacker, it was at least.
00:13:27
Speaker
We went somewhere where I was so hungover and we had barbecue. But I if I remember correctly, like Rachel and Morgan were with us. Like, I think it was a long time ago.
00:13:38
Speaker
I mean, that's where we always go. Like, that's like plans for Sunday because we're going out Saturday night. So it's like that's a Sunday hangover thing.
00:13:50
Speaker
We're going to this new sushi place called 888. um And it's like an old vinyl DJ record, like bumping club sushi place. Okay.
00:14:03
Speaker
I'll be there. excited to go there. We made the reservations like two months ago. um And then Chris's little sister, Jenny, just moved in. She's here for the summer.
00:14:15
Speaker
We have an au pair. We're rich. No, she's here for school, like an internship. So she's going to help and watch the kids. This is our first time. Honestly, a little live-in babysitter is like major hey yeah I'm not I'm not complaining like okay so and she's like so good with the kids like she's amazing um and so trust her with my life and um I don't know she's like open to babysitting all of her all my friends kids too she's like please tell anyone like I'm trying to make money during the week yada yada so
00:14:53
Speaker
Wow. Okay. Good girl. Dream. Yeah. So we are doing Soush on Saturday and then um the only other request they had was like they want biscuits.
00:15:06
Speaker
So I was like, okay, I don't really like. Honestly, I relate. I'm like, I don't go out anymore. So I had like friends in the office tell me where a good breakfast place was. So we're goingnna try and do that maybe Saturday. But we also have had friends that are like, come over to my house this weekend. Like um my friend, Alyssa, who, you know, her in-laws are going out of town.
00:15:32
Speaker
and she texted me on Monday and she's like, do we have like a high school party? Like Matt's parents are out of town. And I was like, oh, my God. She was like, please come. Like, they have a heated pool and hot tub.
00:15:44
Speaker
And she's like, I just want to drink all weekend, get Edley's and du-dada and this was Monday. And I said, girl, you're getting me hot and heavy on a Monday. Like, don't do this to me. Don't do this to me.
00:15:55
Speaker
And she's like, I knew I could count on you. I was like, oh, I want to drink right now. It's 8 a.m. m What's wrong with me? Oh my I think I texted you that. was like, what's wrong with me?
00:16:06
Speaker
You were like, the sun is out. I want to drink. You said, and it was like Tuesday. Every day this week, I'm like jonesing. I mean, I'm not going to lie. There are some ice cold McGlob Ultras in the fridge that honestly, like I just need out of there, but also it's sunny out.
00:16:24
Speaker
And this afternoon, I think one of those, two of those, three of those, some of those have my name on it. That's so funny. Yeah, it was like so rainy all week. And then once the sun came out, it was like, ah, wait, I've been meaning to text you.
00:16:41
Speaker
Are y'all getting any of the crazy like storms and weather that's been happening? Like we did. We had two days this week where we had tornado watches. What's new?
00:16:52
Speaker
Okay, I got stuck on, like, tornado TikTok yesterday and just kept seeing all of the content from St. Louis and Kentucky and yeah Ohio, maybe? Cincinnati? I don't know. Well, the tornado touched down in Kays, Kentucky.
00:17:09
Speaker
um my God. The lake house is fine. A tree is down. A tree is down. Oh, no. Are your parents, like, worried or...
00:17:20
Speaker
They're totally like renovating the house. Not really much the inside, but the outside. And then they like added this garage storage thing to it. and But the tree fell like by the dock.
00:17:35
Speaker
So it's fine. Okay. Let me just say, they are coming to the 21st century. They installed internet this weekend.
00:17:47
Speaker
I'm so happy. Oh. I'm so happy because I told her I was like look like I can't come there early if I don't have access to my laptop like I can't not work yeah yeah y'all are like pigeonholing me like I want right like you can only come after the work day yeah so i was like they finally freaking installed it I'm like thank you because there's just no service up there Oh my God.
00:18:16
Speaker
So I'm happy. That's so exciting. and the kids are at that age where it's like, okay, we want to go a lot this summer. Yeah. Like Margo was on two naps last summer. Like it was just like, we were like they were going out on the boat and we had to come back in. It's like a lot. So now it's like, all right, let's do the lake.
00:18:38
Speaker
So we're going to go next weekend. Yeah. and Yeah. Speaking of two naps, we are in this like limbo transition phase where like...
00:18:50
Speaker
i I cannot decide if Evie is ready for one nap or not. Like there are days where we she does stretch, but then she hits like 1230 and one and she's like beyond.
00:19:01
Speaker
This happened on Tuesday. We skipped morning nap and then come 1230, one o'clock, she would like was beyond. And then she ended up only taking like an hour nap. And I was like, what the fuck? You're so tired.
00:19:13
Speaker
And she still takes a good hour and a half, like 930 nap. I just am struggling with like that ripping the band-aid. Like I can't remember what we did or exactly when it happened with Alice. Like can't. takes like two weeks for it to like even out.
00:19:33
Speaker
Like I know that um with Graydon, we waited until he was 14 months old to do it. and Okay. It was 12 months. Like they ripped the band-aid at daycare and I was like, whatever. Like she wasn't ready, but I just was like leaning in and like,
00:19:49
Speaker
I was like, I don't care this time. Like, I'm not going to hover over what they're doing at daycare. And she ended up being fine. But um maybe 1230 is too late. Like, Margo goes down at 12 and Graydon goes down at 1.
00:20:02
Speaker
Like, they overlap for a little bit. But... Maybe just try 12 or even like a little earlier, 1130, 1145. Yeah. eleven them forty five yeah That's a decent idea. I need to something. They don't have to do it at the same time. Yeah.
00:20:19
Speaker
And it would make our summers like so much better,

Family Planning Discussions

00:20:23
Speaker
you know? think so. I bet she's ready. It's like maybe you were just waiting long. I mean, she's 15 months. Like one? That's a long morning.
00:20:32
Speaker
I would never wait that long for her. February 12th. March would be 13. thirteen April would... Yeah, she's 15 months. ist that Why is month math so hard?
00:20:46
Speaker
Also, I had an epiphany yesterday where I realized that the age that Evie is now is when I got pregnant yeah like with Evie when Alice was that age.
00:20:58
Speaker
And that is breaking my brain because I feel so unready. like That's not the right word, but I feel so like I getting pregnant right now sounds like the worst thing ever.
00:21:13
Speaker
Like only because i just am like so overwhelmed still with the two. and Vinny and I were like freaking out. like, damn, the fact that we had ah baby Evie's age and we're like, yep, let's go.
00:21:25
Speaker
Like, let's try. What? what Were we okay? I just don't know. it probably helped that like we were pregnant too. and you're like, all right, like they're all... Yeah. ah You know, I don't know. Maybe that would like it entices me when my friends are pregnant.
00:21:41
Speaker
FOMO. But yeah, no, I'm approaching when Margo was about to be born. Like she's almost 21 months.
00:21:51
Speaker
I had her when Graydon was 23 months. I'm like, oh, my God. That's so crazy. Yeah, I'm like, that's what I keep thinking. I'm just like, oh my God, like she's almost the age where Graydon was like born again. Like I was hella pregnant this time.
00:22:10
Speaker
It's just crazy because I was, um yeah, Graydon was, i mean, same, 14 months old when got pregnant. So crazy. crazy. So crazy. And I wasn't ready. i was I cried. You know that.
00:22:25
Speaker
And then you and Shannon made me feel so much better. Yeah, yeah. And then it ended up being fun because we all got pregnant like close after. Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah yeah yeah all girls It's just crazy.
00:22:38
Speaker
That was so fun. crazy Crazy to think of like the timing of everything and how I just don't even like I want a whole I almost feel like I want a whole nother year.
00:22:49
Speaker
Well, that's how I told Cassie that ah she was like, so would you recommend this age gap? And I was like, knowing what I know now, I would wait till that child was three, like to be honest, or maybe two and a half.
00:23:05
Speaker
Yeah. Like, we're at a good stride with Margo, but now that I have two, it's like, it's a lot. They're so busy. It's nutty. Yeah. Yeah.
00:23:17
Speaker
God. Craziness. Because then if if Evie was... If I got pregnant when Evie, like when we talked about it, when Evie turned two, she would be starting school like that August, like Alice did when that August after she turned two.
00:23:35
Speaker
And the fact that she, and I could sign her up for five days a week. And I'm like, that would be the most ideal situation is if they, like they both were in school yeah full time. Yeah.
00:23:49
Speaker
Yeah. Craziness. I don't know. It's so it's like a whole other layer of like mental load to think about like the timing of everything like when it comes to like trying to conceive and like having kids. And again, I'm not even sure if we want a third. I'm just like I think I've been thinking about it a lot the past day after this realization that like, oh, Alice was this age when we started trying.
00:24:13
Speaker
And i just am like, oh my God, the timing of it all is like breaking my brain because I just feel so not ready for that. yeah It's because there's two of them. I mean, it's just like, you don't have time to think about it right now. It's a lot. Like my friends that are um ah thinking of third situation, their kids are two and ah two to three.
00:24:42
Speaker
yeah So you're just you just hit, you know, she just turned one. Yeah. So that's next year's problem. I got time. I got time. That's next year's problem. Future me.
00:24:54
Speaker
Yeah. um I did want to talk a little bit about behavior and just like discipline because I feel like we've turned a little bit of a corner and I'm curious if y'all are like experiencing the same thing.
00:25:10
Speaker
I actually feel like her behavior overall is worse than it used to be. But on the flip side of that, she is really starting to like understand consequences and losing things and earning things like those three things like What are consequences?
00:25:29
Speaker
What does it mean to lose something she loves? And what does it mean to earn it back? She's like really starting to understand that. And I feel a shift happening of like where I feel more in power now that she understands the like those concepts.

Discipline Strategies for Children

00:25:45
Speaker
I was curious if you feel the same way. Well, do tell. Like, what's an example of some of the stuff you're doing? um I mean, Alice's number one motivator is sweets. Like, it just, she's obsessed with ice cream, cake, sweets, candy, donuts, the whole thing.
00:26:03
Speaker
like, snacks. Yeah. She's like the girl couldn't be bothered with snacks and I, she definitely doesn't get, feel like I'm lying right now, but she definitely doesn't get a treat every day, but she gets ah most days I would say like, and not crazy. She's not eating a whole ice cream Sunday or whatever, but like, for example, I'll let her have like one Hershey's kiss.
00:26:28
Speaker
whatever. Raiden loves Hershey's kisses. I know. got her like ah Easter. They were like in the Easter eggs and i was like, dang it. He's obsessed all sudden. still have an entire gift bag that we have in our, that we just piled all the Easter candy into this one gift bag and it's still full weeks later.
00:26:49
Speaker
Like it's crazy the amount of candy we got for Easter. And honestly, it's headed for the trash soon, truthfully. But, um, So, yeah, I don't know. It'll be like we've been having an issue with her laying hands on Evie.
00:27:02
Speaker
The biggest thing is she's a pincher. She grabs Evie's cheeks and, like, pinches her so hard to the point where she has, like, like actual fingernail marks and red marks on Evie's face.
00:27:14
Speaker
And so we've been it's so like, I'll just look over her and Alice will be like, on Evie's face. It's so crazy. and so say i'll say Like I'll, if I, if I see her do that, I'll say, okay, you've lost your treat for the day. Or if there's a specific toy, I like, if she's latched onto a specific toy for the day, I'll be like, all right, I saw you cannot touch Evie that way. That is not allowed.
00:27:40
Speaker
You've lost your Elsa doll for the rest of the day. yeah And i'll I'll take it and I'll physically remove it, put it up on the counter or in a cabinet or something. And then I'll say, but you can earn it back by being, you know, by, and then she, she'll fill in the blanks. I say, how can you earn it back?
00:27:57
Speaker
And she'll say by using my listening ears and by using gentle hands and, or, um, And so sometimes she'll just overarchingly be like, by being a good girl.
00:28:09
Speaker
I'm like, yeah, but what does that mean? And she started to learn. Like now I can see moments after that where she wants to do something bad. Like I can see it in her face.
00:28:21
Speaker
And then she'll, we'll lock eyes and she'll say, I'm using gentle hands to earn back my toy. And I'm like, amazing. So good. I think something I need to do to like take it a step further is to implement some sort of um like visual aid, like some sort of sticker chart or something. yeah I think where I'm struggling and I would love people's input on this is should the chart be like.
00:28:51
Speaker
ah visual aid for, for losing something or should it be a visual chart for gaining something? Because I feel like, is there a psychology there of like losing some, like it being a negative chart versus a positive chart? Like, what is that?
00:29:06
Speaker
What are, you know what i mean? i like You just like brought back a memory in grade school like when we had charts like that, and it was literally just cards, like colored cards, and it was like red if you were bad or green if you were good, and at the end of the day, whatever color card you had, you got like a sticker or whatever your treat was. Right.
00:29:28
Speaker
Yeah. It could be as simple as that. Not even a whole sticker chart. i saw or I saw this girl and she had kind of something like that. it was a She just like literally taped together like large index cards and it was red, yellow, green. yeah And then there were there were clothes pins for each kid. And basically they their like status moved throughout the day. you know like They would move her like pin to whatever status. And I forgot like the rules or whatever. if If it was like, if it was by a certain time or by bedtime or whatever, yeah because she is so attached to treats, like I am inclined to be like, maybe it is by dinnertime and by dinnertime after dinner, if you are not in the green, you don't get a dessert.
00:30:20
Speaker
yeah And I need to start brainstorming like healthy, fake healthy desserts. Cause the girl is obsessed Maybe some whipped cream. That's what I used to do when I was on diet. it I would like whipped cream and powdered peanut butter. Here's the Weight Watchers special. Cool whip. Frozen cool whip. Literally.
00:30:37
Speaker
Literally. Sounds kind of good. um I don't know. That's funny. Yeah, Graydon, my mom, whenever they watched him at that party, got him into these, like, they're like tiny ice cream cones.
00:30:51
Speaker
They're like. Oh, yeah. Are they from Trader Joe's? Yeah. No, I mean, i know whatever. They're just like vanilla with a chocolate shell, tiny, tiny ice cream cones. And he'll get those.
00:31:04
Speaker
But um yeah, we don't like implement a ton of stuff like that. Like they all they fight over toys is like the biggest thing right now.
00:31:16
Speaker
um But are they like physical with each other at all? Like does do they like hit or bite or grab? Because we're dealing with that a lot. No, Graydon's never, he's not like a physical person. He will like kind of shove and like knock her over, but he like won't grab her.
00:31:35
Speaker
my God. I wish that was the case here. No, he he don't he won't touch her because we would come down on him like Thor. But um this morning, I mean, I had to put him in timeout this morning because he snuck in the pantry and pulled out a cookie and was about to take a bite and I caught him.
00:31:57
Speaker
And I was like... oh that's bold I was like go time out now like you do not at grab a dessert without asking us and it is 7 a.m sir yeah so I mean he went to time out um and i if I wasn't even like mad at him I was just like no like you've got to learn immediately like you do not touch that ever again So I just took him to timeout. I didn't like poke around. I wasn't like, no, sir. was just like, you're getting disciplined. Like we're not doing this.
00:32:35
Speaker
So that happened. And then I made him eggs because I was like, okay, we're going to not do that again. And I sat down with him and he goes, mom, I don't want you to be angry with me anymore.
00:32:46
Speaker
And I was like, I'm not angry with you, Graydon. I was like, I just don't want you eating cookies in the morning. And i was like, you need to ask mommy and daddy if you want that. And I was like, we would have said no, but...
00:32:57
Speaker
ask. So, I don't know. He like does decent with timeout. They fight all the time. Like, I'm telling you, Graydon takes her toys from her. Like, we're having a really hard time with him sharing.
00:33:14
Speaker
It's bad. Yeah. No, no, I feel the same way. That's number thing. I will we're in the exact same boat with the sharing. And Evie's at that age now where she's really starting to, like, you know, get interested in these toys and therere They love the same things like Elsa dolls. and My mom and in-laws, I think, are perpetuating. and this is like they It's well-meaning. you know but i My mom has started to be like, okay, if they so if they fight over a certain toy, my mom will just buy
00:33:48
Speaker
An extra of whatever that is so that they both have one. yeah and I'm like, yeah, if this it fixes the fighting problem, but like, it's not teaching them that they have to share things like yeah they have to.
00:34:00
Speaker
Yeah. See, it's so funny. Like, it's not even Margo taking Graydon's stuff. All of a sudden, he wants a baby doll. Like, we have one baby doll. It's Margo's favorite one.
00:34:14
Speaker
She is the main bitch in this house. All right, let me tell you. She is she' is the queen. She rules the house. They fight over this baby doll all the time. That and the stupid dill pickles. Oh, my god what didn't i tell you that my mom she's y'all she's literally saved like everything from our childhood it all lives in our attic my parents have never moved like i they've been in the same house for 35 years and they brought down all these toys from my childhood dill pickles from rugrats from rugrats
00:34:51
Speaker
Brought it to my house. It literally says on the neck 1998. They have attached to this thing like Avatar. Like zing. Love. Love dill pickles. Yeah.
00:35:04
Speaker
They carry that thing around everywhere. That is so funny. And it's like he has a huge head and soft body. like And it it hurts. like She'll fling it at you and you can get your tooth knocked out by this thing.
00:35:17
Speaker
Oh my They fight over Dill Pickles like crazy. And I'm like, Graydon, since when do you care about baby dolls? It's like he sees her liking stuff. It's not even about what the toy is. It's just like Oh my god. We rip it out of his hands and we're like, Graydon, you, number one, didn't ask.
00:35:38
Speaker
You just stole it from her. And i and we're like, and that is Margo's toy. He's like, want a baby. we're like, since when do you want a fucking baby? yeah ah Stop it.
00:35:50
Speaker
God, it's like all we fight about. Yeah. God, it's a lot. It's a lot. i'm I'm kind of excited for the summer.
00:36:01
Speaker
And I mean, Alice is going to be home a little more in the summer. Obviously, today's her last day of school. She does have camps, but we have a couple of weeks where we don't have camp. And um also camp is a little bit shorter of a day than school is just by like 30 minutes or so. But I...
00:36:20
Speaker
I need to one of like my things in these coming weekends where we're we're home more and I'm able to like do some house things is I need to set up like more play areas and some more like options for them in our living room and also in their rooms. I just need to like do some toy sprucing. You know what I mean? Yes. um And I do.
00:36:42
Speaker
And I think maybe some toy rotations of like here's things we don't touch anymore. Here's things we really love. Let's pull it out. Just to like for my own sanity, you know.
00:36:54
Speaker
You know, sometimes I forget like they can play in their rooms. um I played in my room a lot as a kid and. Me too. they they We didn't have like a playroom, so.
00:37:05
Speaker
No. And like, I never played downstairs or anything either. so I'm like, it's so different. Like, they just want to be on top of us. Like, they just want to play around us.
00:37:17
Speaker
When I was. Yeah. I just like remember playing in my room a lot when I was little. Yeah. But. I don't know. I agree. i we have like the water table and stuff out already.
00:37:30
Speaker
And I think. I just ordered a new one. It's outside or like in a box. I got to put it together. Cause obviously we lost ours in the flood. like it was outside. Um, and so I haven't, we haven't had a water table and I bought a new one and I bought one that has a built in motor.
00:37:47
Speaker
Oh, nice. To filter water. So, um, I'll report back. Yeah, that's nice. We got ours from Costco and we like, we've already had it out for a very long time. Like they loved it. And then we just had to like already re-clean it because the pollen here is nutty.
00:38:05
Speaker
um i also got one of those like little sinks where you can do the nozzle and the water roll. Oh yeah. yeah Get that. we like we had no fun We had one of those at our old house, but obviously that is gone.
00:38:18
Speaker
um I need to get one. We had one. It was so, Alice loved it. Yeah. um I think would put soap in it and she would like do the dishes, you know, i actually need to clean it because I think Esther would really like it because you can put it on the ground and so she could play in it. Yeah. um I might try today.
00:38:38
Speaker
ah But yeah, that one was really fun. i mean, they're loving the pool. We've gotten in the pool like every day this week. um I love. I love. yeah this it's been fun y'all I'm gonna have to invest in like laser hair removal like what am I gonna do what am I gonna do
00:39:01
Speaker
i I'm not that hairy down there like I god I like is it bad like it's yours bad You would think I was the Cuban one in this relationship.
00:39:16
Speaker
Because, I mean, and like normally I don't care, but Jenny's here. And I'm like, Jenny, just don't look at me. Don't look at me. Okay. I can guarantee you that no one's looking at you.
00:39:27
Speaker
Also, I was like, look, this whole week I can't shave because I have company coming this weekend. So I got to save the shave for this weekend. Save the shave. Save the shave. And then, so I'm just like, oh my God, i'm going to have to invest in fucking laser hair removal because I've tried waxing before and I had to like leave mid-wax.
00:39:48
Speaker
It hurts so bad. Like, oh my God. I've never had a wax either. i don't, I'm too scared. Yeah. But I've also, I have done laser hair removal, not on my... c cha But my ah mustache and my happy trail um that I shaved when I was in middle school.
00:40:09
Speaker
It was blonde and then grew back black. So lesson, do not shave your happy trail if you have a blonde happy trail. Okay. um And it did work, but it grew back after I was pregnant, um which I know is like a common thing. Yeah. but Yeah, I've done it before, too. Like, it works really well. You just, I mean, got to keep up with the sessions and stuff. But I don't know. It's an option. It's like something, honestly, I probably should have done a really, really, really long time ago.
00:40:42
Speaker
So I've been low key, like, almost sold on so many, like, TikTok bikini shaver things recently. i don't have one. i just use, like, a normal razor. Me, too. But I i want one of those, like, bikini ones.
00:40:58
Speaker
Sometimes. you know what do you know I'm talking about? I take Chris's. Oh, I've done that for sure. I've 100% done that. he He knows I do it. Oh, Vinny doesn't know. What? Vinny doesn't know.
00:41:11
Speaker
Oh my God. I clean that thing up and down and then I put it back right in the same spot. Chris is going to kill me. No. He's going to kill me. Now he knows. He's going how many times?
00:41:23
Speaker
How many times I'll be like, I don't know. don't know. Every week. Well, now he knows for your birthday this year to get you one of the women's bikini shavers. This is where he yells.
00:41:37
Speaker
I did get her one, Candace. She doesn't charge it. Mine's charged. Yep. This is a conversation we've had. His is just charged and ready to go. already know the argument. art Well, yeah. Yeah.
00:41:51
Speaker
This is ready to go. Yeah. No, I totally understand that. Oh my God. That is funny. I'm sorry. um sorry ay
00:42:04
Speaker
um The other thing I wanted, obviously it we're 44 minutes into this and we should have said like, this is a week. This is June recap, just us chatting. We should have said that.

Wedding Updates and Experiences

00:42:14
Speaker
But, um you know, I went to Hannah's wedding, Shannon's little sister's wedding and spent a lot of time with TJ and Andrew and Hannah and Shannon's family.
00:42:26
Speaker
and I know we get so many messages of like people asking about TJ and Andrew and her family So I thought I'd just give like a little update slash recap of that if people care and want to know. course.
00:42:40
Speaker
Yes. um Hannah's wedding was so beautiful. it was emotional, obviously. But I think everyone, myself included, did a good job of like keeping the day joyful and light like Shannon would have wanted.
00:42:57
Speaker
um I think we got all of our emotions out before. That was like our goal. It was like, okay, we're going to feel all the feelings a couple days before so that on the day of we can just live in the joy, live in the happiness.
00:43:09
Speaker
um And ah it was so beautiful. i did Hannah's makeup but and was quite proud of my It was good. It was really good. looked stunning. and And honestly, it made me ah want to do more people's makeup. Like I like I had a moment where i was like, should I start a business and like start doing makeup on the side?
00:43:35
Speaker
But the problem with doing makeup on the side is that everyone needs it evenings and weekends. And that's the hard part, you know? I don't know.
00:43:46
Speaker
But then I thought, what if I taught a makeup class online, like for moms? I don't know. If that's something you'd be interested in, let me know. Candice. I thought about it of like doing a workshop of sorts.
00:44:01
Speaker
um I don't know. Something I'm thinking about. I love that idea. i would join. Okay. Yeah. Let me know. I don't know. It's something I've been thinking about. So anywho, that's side, side note here, but we, um the wedding was beautiful. She looked stunning. And then TJ was the ring bear. He was so cute in his little suit and his little vest and,
00:44:32
Speaker
he's just the sweetest. He's so good doing so well. Um, Andrew was there. We sat next to each other at the reception and he's doing well, I mean, well, as well as he can.
00:44:44
Speaker
um and everyone seemed good. i mean, obviously Shannon is so missed and there were so many moments in the wedding and in the reception that,
00:44:56
Speaker
were very emotional during b blank space when they played blank space on the dance floor and Hannah and I were like singing to Taylor Swift. I was like fighting for my fucking life on that dance floor. You guys, because it was like a happy moment, but I was like, the tears were like there, right.
00:45:13
Speaker
If I had just blinked one extra time, they would have, it would have been a waterfall, a waterfall. Yeah. But, um, yeah, he's so good and just the sweetest. He's funny.
00:45:25
Speaker
He's got like funny energy and his smile is like, just like Shannon's. It's like radiates. Yeah. They look so much alike. Um, and yeah, he's so good.
00:45:38
Speaker
i so glad and I'm glad it was fun and you got to do her makeup. Like that is so special. and like Yeah, it was, it was so special. Yeah, that's a good memory to have. Yeah. She looked gorgeous.
00:45:51
Speaker
We're so happy for Hannah. She looked good. Yeah, we love her so much. And um I can't wait. I mean, i don't know if I'm supposed to say this, but they're i think they're going to have babies, like, soon, soon. So it'll be fun to, like. Let's go. Yeah.
00:46:09
Speaker
She'll be such an amazing mom. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. meant for it, baby. be old is Hannah? Yeah. thirty 30? 30. 31 maybe?
00:46:20
Speaker
Well, guess what? Baby making time. Yeah. Yeah. ah But yeah, anything else you want to update us on? Any other life updates?
00:46:33
Speaker
um I don't think so. I think I'm just ready to like rep that red, white, and fucking blue baby this weekend. Like, ugh, God.
00:46:44
Speaker
Get me that. got the cutest Target dress. um I need to post it because I just got it last week and it is the cutest like little linen blue and white Target dress. I cannot wait. I'm going to wear it.
00:46:59
Speaker
I think I might wear it on the pirate ship actually. Well, the way I've been wearing my Target red, white, and blue t-shirt nonstop. wore red, white, and blue to the office. I'm just like, God, I love the color scheme. I know. I got the kids the Old Navy flag shirts for this weekend.
00:47:17
Speaker
Classic. We're just ready to go. I'm ready to have some frozen margs tonight, like do s'mores by the fire, just chill by the pool. I'm excited. That's so nice. Oh, my gosh.
00:47:31
Speaker
um You make me want to open my Michelob Ultra now, and it's only 1030 think it's like honestly a gift I have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, that's like when I, like if I were to, like if we've ever traveled to see each other and like if we land at like 8.30 a.m., like when I see you and we are together and like our hands touch and we're, it's just like, no no no and it's like energy that like you have to open a drink.
00:48:00
Speaker
It is funny because anytime Candace comes, like she is the one that doesn't like drink a lot at home and I do. yeah But she's the one that's the pusher when we're together. It is hilarious. Well, because it's like, it's a vacation, you know?
00:48:15
Speaker
She's always like, do we? And I'm like, do um Right, already? Okay, yeah, sure. Yep.
00:48:23
Speaker
It's nuanced for me. It's like, you know, it's it's like a vacation thing. e I love it. Well, I'm excited. And I hope you have a great weekend. i hope you girlies, um I guess this is the weekend's over. Hey, it's Tuesday. um Yeah. Hope y'all had a great weekend. Hope you had a great Memorial weekend. um Love it.
