Gorilla vs. Solar Salesmen Debate

00:00:41
Speaker
All right, I never thought we'd be talking about this, but today on the podcast, we're going to talk about who would win in a fight between a gorilla and 100 solar salesmen. Okay, something that's never been done before.
00:00:53
Speaker
So welcome to the podcast. My name is Taylor Armstrong. We're here to help you close more deals, generate more leads and referrals, and have a much better time in the solar industry.

Analyzing the Gorilla Debate: Assumptions and Strategies

00:01:02
Speaker
And in this episode, we're talking about gorillas By now, you've probably seen the viral debate.
00:01:08
Speaker
Someone posted a tweet about a week ago at the time this recording and said, hey, um i think 100 humans could beat one gorilla.
00:01:18
Speaker
And I've been doing constant research about it, been fascinated fascinated by this question. I'm like, hey we got to figure out a way to to do a podcast episode on this. And it's my podcast, so I can talk about whatever I want.
00:01:31
Speaker
So if you don't like the debate, you can skip this, but we are going to tie it into how this can apply to your solar cells. but We figured out a way to tie it into solar with everything. So stay tuned till the end if you want to hear how how this can apply. But first of all, the debate.
00:01:46
Speaker
Hey, so if you've done the research, you've seen the videos. I've watched close to 10 videos on this now. and ah done some research. So ah the tweet was, um it didn't give a lot of context. He said 100 humans versus gorilla. So we got to make some assumptions, right? It's like, are these humans armed?
00:02:06
Speaker
Are they unarmed? um If they're armed, I mean, obviously it's over. Pretty quick. The gorilla is done for. But ah if they're unarmed, then that's where it gets interesting. Right. I mean, some stats on a gorilla, if you are not familiar with these beasts, there are 350 450 average,
00:02:24
Speaker
um about five five to five foot nine ah The strength is estimated at four to ten times stronger than a human. ah They can deadlift like 1500 pounds.
00:02:36
Speaker
um Their bite force is 1300 PSI, which is stronger than than a lion. So these things, they can bite clean through your limbs. ah They can basically rip you in half.
00:02:49
Speaker
And they have extremely dense muscles and bone

Human Strategy and Teamwork in the Gorilla Debate

00:02:52
Speaker
structures. ah you You can see videos of gorillas fighting in the jungle. They're taking hits to the face. It's not even phasing them.
00:03:00
Speaker
So if you think of it, it doesn't matter. You could take Mike Tyson, put him in there. You could take Jake Paul, whoever. the strongest boxers in the world. They hit them clean in the face. It's barely going to, it's not even going cause these guys to flinch. So how could a hundred humans beat these things?
00:03:16
Speaker
um There's the case that if you just line up, sacrifice 20 to 30 of them, um then just dogpile on the gorilla. There's the case that it could be overwhelmed that way.
00:03:27
Speaker
But after watching some videos, doing some more research, here's how I think the humans could win. If they simply out endurance the gorilla, um it's pretty much a consensus from what I've seen that the gorillas, they have extremely powerful force.
00:03:43
Speaker
They can sprint, they can run 20 to 25 miles per hour. They have short bursts of speed, short bursts of strength. But all the research I've done is these things, they don't have the endurance of humans.
00:03:54
Speaker
and you look at humans throughout time we can work we can go all day right we have that's why we're hairless we have sweat glands we can go we cannot we cannot overheat so the other strategy that i've seen from i would say the more credible videos you got to have a strategy going in you got to coordinate an attack And this is, again, assuming we're unarmed.
00:04:19
Speaker
And the other assumption is we're making is we're talking about like physically fit people. If you put in just like someone accountant, say 100 accountants, then I don't know, might be a tougher thing. But if you're talking about solar salesmen, I would say solar salesmen were generally more fits than the average population population were generally ah in pretty good physical, physical condition. We like to work out. So if you put a hundred solar cells, man against a gorilla, I believe we could, we could have a much better coordinated attack.
00:04:50
Speaker
So here's the strategy. Here's how you win this thing. Okay. You get, uh, you, you form groups of like 10 to 15 people. There's a hundred, a hundred of us. Right. And you just start to like rotate in waves and kind of charging it backing off, and basically you're playing a game of cat and mouse, right? Some people are undoubtedly going to get sacrificed.
00:05:12
Speaker
There's going to be people with their limbs torn off. There's going to be deaths for sure. But ideally, you want to get people bought into the cause, right? You want to get people bought in saying, hey, if we defeat this gorilla, we conquer the world. We sell every person solar, whatever it is the motivations are. You need to get people bought into the cause because there's going to be sacrifices.
00:05:34
Speaker
No way you beat a gorilla without making some hefty sacrifices. But the way you limit those sacrifices is you do a coordinated attack while you're distracting it, making noises. Maybe you have some people kicking it in the back and ah really just tiring it out, right? So you're going, getting this thing tired out.
00:05:51
Speaker
And then um once it gets fully tired out. Here's where you can send in people that are going to engage. right um I follow a jiu-jitsu guy. His name's John Danaher.
00:06:03
Speaker
um He's known one as one of the best minds in jiu-jitsu. And so he he had a pretty cool strategy. I thought he's obviously talking from a jiu-jitsu perspective and ah if from a trained fighter perspective.
00:06:16
Speaker
But once you can tire these things out, you can go in. It's not going to work to put these girls in a chokehold. right They're going to Yeah, it's their necks are way too thick to just put it in the rear naked choke. Not going to work.
00:06:28
Speaker
yeah And there's other chokes. There's like triangle chokes where you can put your legs around the neck. But ah I don't think anyone's going to want to want to put their legs near that thing's neck and mouth. You're probably getting your groin chomped right off.
00:06:41
Speaker
So not a fun and Not a fun joke to try on a gorilla. But what you can do, and this is what John Danaher says, the jujitsu guy, is assuming we're clothed. I would assume that you're going to go into this fight clothes.
00:06:53
Speaker
is You can take your clothes. Once this thing is tired out, you have people trap the arms. Use your clothes to just strangle this thing, right? And so you can gouge the eyes. That's another strategy people are talking about, gouging the eyes,
00:07:07
Speaker
Maybe poking the ears punches are going to do very little. But if you can tire it out to the point where you can hold it down, you can restrain it. Maybe 10 guys, you're restraining them. I believe you could take your clothes, maybe your pants. Hopefully you have like a thick jean or something.
00:07:22
Speaker
And I think you get enough guys wrap, wrap this thing around the girl's neck. I think you joke this thing out.

Lessons on Teamwork from the Gorilla Debate

00:07:29
Speaker
All right. So that is how i believe you win the fight against the gorilla.
00:07:33
Speaker
And that's how I believe the Solar Solzman win this thing. Yeah, you got to go train some jujitsu or get some type of martial arts training. It's going to give us a better chance. But ah if you do a coordinated attack, then I think we get out of the sink. I'd say you could get out of the sink with less than 20 deaths ah if you really buy in. And you got to people that are willing to sacrifice.
00:07:56
Speaker
But I think we beat the sink with 20 deaths or less. So there's my theory. There's my strategy. Hopefully this question fascinates you as much as it fascinated me. Yeah, but how can this apply to solar cells?
00:08:09
Speaker
Kind of a useless debate, hopefully. We'll never have to face a gorilla. But the application here is, are you working with a team? Hey, i've I've seen so many people that are trying to fight the gorilla themselves.
00:08:21
Speaker
When I say fight the gorilla, you're trying to take on the world. You're trying to sell the world solar all by yourself. And to me, going out there alone, going out there without a team, that's like trying to face a 400 pound gorilla.
00:08:33
Speaker
You might last 10 seconds, but it's not going to be pretty. So, the point of this podcast is if you are not on a team if you're not coordinating attack your attacks against the so-called gorilla the homeowners i think you're not going to go very far in this industry over the last year at the time i'm recording this i've seen i would say a dozen friends um a few close friends of mine they had solar dealers They were running successful. But then when changes came in California, where I'm at here, they fizzled out.
00:09:07
Speaker
They didn't have a team. They were a lone wolf in it and they couldn't continue. Even at my ah current company, which we have a pretty big team, one of the biggest teams here in San Diego. ah There's other teams in our company where it's just a few guys and they really struggle just because they're not around that campfire. They're not coordinating coordinating their attacks.
00:09:28
Speaker
and they don't have that just good mojo to go off of. so if the invitation is, if you're listening to this and you're not currently a part of a team, if you're trying to lone wolf it, maybe your team's really small, I would consider grow your team, but consider joining up forces.
00:09:46
Speaker
ah Maybe you do some type of merger. ah There's a lot of people that have merged with Spartan Solar as example. um My buddy Alex Smith I see them just merging forces with companies all the time to create a bigger sales force. Because when you run a alone, you run slow. When you're with a team, you go fast.
00:10:04
Speaker
So make sure you're part of a team. if you don't have one, connect with me. We can get you part of our training groups, training programs, or we can help you join a team. And if you're looking for a group to join, our we are currently running blitzes.
00:10:18
Speaker
I have a few guys coming out this month, few guys coming out next month. Our team, we're blitzing quite frequently here. So I'd love to have you out for a blitz. Okay, you can apply. We've got a link down below. Whether you want to consider working with us full time or do a blitz, go apply down below.
00:10:35
Speaker
But whatever you do, make sure you're part of a solid team. Make sure you coordinate your attacks because you're not going to win in this industry if you don't join forces, you don't get on a team. Never really seen it been done.
00:10:48
Speaker
That's why so much more powerful to have a community in anything. Think of it. People that do fitness, right? Anytime um people are trying to get in shape or do something incredible in fitness, it's so much easier to have a team.
00:11:01
Speaker
Even in solo sports, you know, you got like running, you got like jujitsu wrestling like I do. We still have teams just because we know we can go a lot further training together and collaborating. So make sure you join a team.
00:11:13

Introducing Solar Scout and Podcast Resources

00:12:01
Speaker
So some of you already know that I run my own door-to-door sales team here in San Diego. And as we are gearing up for the summer, I realized if we do the same thing we always did, we're going to get the same results.
00:12:12
Speaker
But if I want to increase my deal flow, I need to do something different to get an advantage. Then we discovered an app called Solar Scout. But it's not a door knocking app. It's a data platform that shows us who is likely to go solar in our market.
00:12:26
Speaker
It shows us who has previously applied for solar but later canceled the deal, who has moved in recently, and even how much electricity the homes are using in a given neighborhood. It's been working for a lot of teams across the country and now I'm on board too.
00:12:40
Speaker
I'm going to be one of the first to use SolarScout in San Diego, so I decided to partner up. But I told them, hey, I'm going to talk about SolarScout on my show, you need to give my listeners a great deal. And they did.
00:12:51
Speaker
So go to solarscout.app forward slash Taylor and book a demo with them and you'll get 10% off your first month when you sign up. That's solarscout.app forward slash Taylor.
00:13:03
Speaker
Okay, back to the show. What's up, solopreneurs? Hope you enjoyed the episode. Before you run out and start selling more solar yourself, wanted to let you know about an exciting new cheat sheet we created specifically for you in mind.
00:13:20
Speaker
One of the top questions I get asked on Instagram, on Facebook, by our listeners is, Taylor, where should I start? What episodes should I listen to in the podcast? You got too many podcasts, man, because now we have over 200 episodes.
00:13:34
Speaker
So what we've done, we created the top 10 most downloaded, most listened to, and i would say widely accepted, most useful podcasts that we've done here on Solopreneur.
00:13:47
Speaker
We put them together all in one sheet so you can go, you can hit the ground running, especially if you're new, you do not want to not have this sheet. So go download it right now. It's going to be at top10.solarpreneurs.com. Again, that's top10, the number 10,.solarpreneurs.com. Don't forget the S on solarpreneurs. We will have that in the show notes. Go download it right now.
00:14:13
Speaker
And especially if you have not listened to them, go listen to them and you can re-listen to them. That's going to show you how. So go download it and we'll see you on the other side.
