The Amazing Rewatch: Pit stop. Yeah, I don't know. Because that would have been like the times that they... finished right because they didn't finish at five whatever a .m.
The Amazing Rewatch: Okay. Yeah. I don't know They don't really say. Either way anymore. Maybe they're like. 18 hours. Yeah. Or just... Whatever. Time they decide, but. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: So we're going to Italy. which will be. How? Like our fifth time, sixth time in Italy? Sixth time. And I know we've been to... Florence. and Rome.
The Amazing Rewatch: Have we been to Turin before? I know. Think so. I don't have the cities. I don't keep track of the cities. I just track the country. It seems like we have not.

The Amazing Rewatch: That now since we're talking about it turret I know it more as like Torino because that's what like they called it when it was the Olympics were there. Yeah. It's Torino in Italian.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah. It's in northwestern Italy, close to the French and Swiss borders with the Alps. And it is. Hmm About 850 ,000 people in the city proper, about 1 .7 million in the larger urban area.

The Amazing Rewatch: Hmm. The House of Savoy. was a me medieval dynasty that controlled the territory around this area of France, Switzerland, and Italy. And they were just very influential. and ruled from here.

The Amazing Rewatch: We call them something different and not just what they're named in Italian. And I can't remember the answer to that, but there is a reason. Yeah. We've talked about that before. Like, why... or Yeah.

The Amazing Rewatch: so Back to the race. Yes. We said Art and JJ departed at 5 .10. They get to a travel agency and they're told that the flight the next flight is not going to depart until 9 .15 a .m. the next day and arrive at Italy 10 .35 a .m. the next day.
The Amazing Rewatch: Mm hmm. So they'll just be spending the night in the airport. And so 510. Okay. Team number two, Brendan and Rachel, depart at 9 .59. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: That's crazy. That's almost five hours later. And then join Danny at 10. Mark and Bopper at 10 .08. Nary and Jamie, 10 .09. Rachel and Dave, 10 .10.
The Amazing Rewatch: Carrie and Stacey, 1045. Yeah, so that big chunk also like We're pretty close within 45 minutes. And then Vanessa and Ralph at 2 .15.
The Amazing Rewatch: Oh, 2 .15. I brought it down 12 .15. I saw 2 .15. It could have been. That's crazy either way it's like a big gap Yeah. huge and lucky for them that it's an equalizer at this airport Yeah, because they could have.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, they could have been on a flight way, way, way, way, way later. Yeah. And not caught up. But. also i wrote down bopper and mark when they left they're like we're going somewhere tropical they said that yeah Italy is not really tropical. At all, but especially not the part that you're going to. No.
The Amazing Rewatch: It's... literally the host of Winter Olympics. so Well, all the teams are getting to travel agencies to buy their tickets and getting those tip tickets on the 915 flight.
The Amazing Rewatch: And then. Bobber Mark. tell their taxi to go to the airport. For some reason at this airport you can't buy tickets. You have to buy them at the travel agency. And so they're there like. hang hanging around and they see art and jj there and they are like talking about tickets and they're R and JJ tell them.
The Amazing Rewatch: You have to buy your tickets at a travel agency. What are you doing here? And they're like, are you serious? oh my gosh and so they rush Out back to get another cab and go back to the travel agency.
The Amazing Rewatch: and That must have taken him a long time to like... get there and like chat and figure that out because if Ralph? And Vanessa left at 2 .15.
The Amazing Rewatch: And then. Yeah, because that would have been four hours. But Ralph and Vanessa get their tickets before Mark and Bopper. And so that means that the flight that everybody else is on is full.
The Amazing Rewatch: Mark and Popper get tickets. on a flight that arrives at 1150. Yeah. So like an hour. and Half -ish later. While they're at the airport, they...
The Amazing Rewatch: asked to be put on standby for that flight and they are told they can't sell them a standby ticket but they could go go at the gate and kind of see If there's going to be one.
The Amazing Rewatch: And they go over there and... their way and they don't get on. So they are on the 1150. They didn't even ask.
The Amazing Rewatch: Like. The reason it came up, they figured out they were on a... different flight is like people were kind of seeing what seats Everybody was in. Like, what seats are you on? What seats are you on? Oh, yeah. And then Mark and Bob are like, we're not even on that flight. What?
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, so they first they didn't even know that they were supposed to go to a travel agency. and then Then they didn't even ask if they're like on the same flight as everyone. They start asking. About people's, yeah. They were just going to.
The Amazing Rewatch: Get on that one with no questions asked. yeah but They did not get on the flight, and then the first flight leaves and arrives in Turin, and everybody gets in their cars.
The Amazing Rewatch: And it seems like the traffic is kind of throwing everybody off. they You drive on the right side of the road in Italy, but there's like... There's. Sometimes there's not road signs. There's like lots of lanes. There's lots of roundabouts. And just like obviously being in a city that you don't.
The Amazing Rewatch: you're not familiar with is hard so And. Rachel and Dave. are starting off. the rest of this episode. With some bickering. They're getting real annoyed with each other.
The Amazing Rewatch: And it seems like... They are both just trying to bother the other one. Yeah, they just cannot. Neither of them can let it go. yeah It's...
The Amazing Rewatch: Like... And it is annoying actually for the viewer. and carrie and stacy are struggling with like driving the stick shift so they kind of get behind but um art and jj and brendan and rachel are there They are right. What is it called? The Lingoto Building? Mm -hmm.
The Amazing Rewatch: They arrive there first and they realize that it's like... It's like a spiral. Thank you. like you have to run up they jog yeah you have to jog up a spiral building and that's tough like to Just like a constant incline.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, Art and JJ get to the clue first and when they open it there is a fast forward. So this fast forward is one team member must operate a remote control helicopter.
The Amazing Rewatch: While the other teammate... stands there and wears a helmet that has uh, Like a launch or a landing pad, a helipad. Yeah, but it has like a... I don't know, a miniature version of the building on top of the helmet with the landing pad on top of that. So it's yeah, it's like this little mini helicopter.
The Amazing Rewatch: So Art and JJ want to try that out. but They don't know that apparently. It just says land a helicopter. Yeah. they Yeah. and then the other teams start opening the clue, and it's a roadblock, and I don't know what it says. I don't know if it says.
The Amazing Rewatch: But the task that they have to do is repel a hundred and... Whoops, I lost it. 120 feet down the inside of the spiral Lingoto building. On the way down, they must grab a clue. If they fail to grab the clue in the two minutes allotted, they must go...
The Amazing Rewatch: like finish going down, run back up to the top and start again. It's a long way up. Yeah. So Rachel, Vanessa, Jamie, and Danny are all there at the same time and they're the ones doing the roadblock.
The Amazing Rewatch: Um... I would. Because when it shows the fast forward, there's like four helmets sitting there. It looks like more than one team can be working on it at a time. that At that same place. They don't have to go anywhere. So...
The Amazing Rewatch: I would have tried it. yeah If I was any other team besides the first team. Because you know there's another team on another airplane. Right. And. Some other teams who haven't arrived yet. And and it does seem like it takes.
The Amazing Rewatch: uh i think jj is the one that's wearing the helmet and art is steering the helicopter and at one point art's like can you get this in the next 30 minutes and that was like after they'd already been there for a little while so they they're there like past the time that people are like finishing the roadblock So yeah, it would this would have been a good one to...
The Amazing Rewatch: Go and just attempt it. But nobody did other than R and JJ, but other people should have tried. Well, Rachel and Dave want to. Well. Dave wants to.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, Dave wants to And this is kind of the way that they're... communication has been this episode so dave wants to try the fast forward and she says that's the stupidest thing in the world Yeah. You think that all these teams have been here and... None of them have tried to go for the fast forward. That's so dumb. And he's like, but it's landing a helicopter and that's what I do. She's like, you think it's a real helicopter? Are you serious? Yeah. And he was like.
The Amazing Rewatch: He's mad and she's mad and they're just not even listening to each other. Um. Well, Rachel of Rachel and Brendan does the... repel pretty quickly and finishes first and the clue says make your way to the Music. Musea. Nationale des Automobiles and use Um...
The Amazing Rewatch: Once you get there, use your forward focus park assist feature, then go inside the museum and search for the 1916 Tin Lizzy. Which is, uh... like A distant relative of the car they've been driving. So obviously they know it's a Ford. An old Ford.
The Amazing Rewatch: And. Ahem. Then... Mark and Bopper land at this point. And some other teams are... doing the Repel so Vanessa and Jamie do it and they go too slow and they don't get in time Vanessa's going so she's like barely moving. Yeah And.
The Amazing Rewatch: um Rachel gets it. On the first try. Other Rachel. rachel Yeah. But Joey and Danny end up getting to the museum first and Rachel and Brendan are not far behind them. But while Rachel and Brendan are like parking or trying to get into the museum or get. navigate there.
The Amazing Rewatch: They start fighting about something. And then... And Rachel's in the back and... Brendan is driving. And he like turns. to face her in the back and he like puts his hand up puts his hand up yeah And she says that he raised his fist at her.
The Amazing Rewatch: and freaks out and from here on she and she says she hates him yeah and From this point on, she is not happy. She is... So upset. And they're like.
The Amazing Rewatch: Just... Fighting back and forth and she's saying this isn't even worth 1 million dollars. I just want to quit and then he says At some point. This isn't even worth a million dollars. i just They're both saying that, but they're not like actually quitting. And.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, they're... he He keeps trying to like apologize and he didn't like. try and hit her or anything no but she's so upset And nothing he says or does can make her happy. like And then she just like.
The Amazing Rewatch: Keeps. digging in as well too like everything he says she just So, yes, we've got both Rachels that are just. Not. Communicating. Well, with their partners.
The Amazing Rewatch: um But Art and JJ finished. The fast forward. And... Yeah, the clue says go to the... pit stop at the piazza Costello. I must have missed that.
The Amazing Rewatch: which obviously they get first place and they both win $5 ,000 ,000 ,000 each. Yep. And then... um Carrie and Stacey finally arrive. to the roadblock place and Stacey does the roadblock.
The Amazing Rewatch: She's the one that's afraid of heights and she had to do the. the skydiving in the first leg too. Yeah. And they're quite a... but behind everyone because they had really struggled with their navigation and driving.
The Amazing Rewatch: And. Mark and Bopper are struggling with their navigation to this place. They're trying to ask for directions. They just can't understand what anybody's saying. Um... Brendan and Rachel end up finding the car first in the museum.
The Amazing Rewatch: and when they get there there are the thing that they're supposed to find is a coin so it's like this little box on the seat of the car it has a Euro. A two cent euro on it. And they have to figure out that the building on the euro is the Mole Antonelliana.
The Amazing Rewatch: I think. thanks so And get to that building and ride the elevator elevator to the top and search for their next clue. But so they don't have a clue. They just have a... coin. yeah they They think that they have to like find something to insert the coin and get a clue or give the coin to somebody and get a clue.
The Amazing Rewatch: And all the other teams kind of figure out pretty quick that they're... the the clue The coin is the clue. Yeah, so they run out of the museum and they're... For some reason, there's like a bunch of Santas running around town.
The Amazing Rewatch: There's like a Santa pup crawl or something like that. And so everybody's asking a different Santa for the location of this building, which is back at the center of town. So they all start heading that way.
The Amazing Rewatch: And it's really easy to see, I think, from anywhere in the city because like it has like a really tall. Spire. So yeah, they just have to. Kind of. figure out how to get back to that. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: Um, Brennan and Rachel finally figure it out. And... The teams, when they get to this elevator. This building with the elevator, they go up to the top of the clue at the top of the detour. The choices are to clean that statue or name that salami.
The Amazing Rewatch: Clean that statue is use the provided equipment and clean statues to restore to their pristine state. And in Name That Salami, they have to locate the Gastronomia Salameria and taste 14 distinct salamis, then travel a half mile to the Piazza Vittorio Veneto and identify all 14 salamis by their correct name. And I would not pick that one. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: Ew. That one would be really hard. Ew. Because... 14 is a lot. Yeah. And I feel like salami tastes the same. And I don't.
The Amazing Rewatch: It's not my favorite. i It's not the worst. but And just cleaning something, it's like you just got to do it. Yeah, just power through. So. Most of the teams choose the statue one. Brendan and Rachel actually do the salami one, which is interesting.
The Amazing Rewatch: teams kind of have a hard time finding the location of the statue detour And. But they eventually find it. Um, In the meantime, like carrie and the way they edit it, it looks like Carrie and Stacey just found the Ford car at the museum and Mark and Bopper arrive at the museum. yeah Bopper did the roadblock.
The Amazing Rewatch: yeah I think we missed that. And then the other teens are at the detours doing... them And... When the teams were like exiting the elevator and...
The Amazing Rewatch: going down and getting the clue and stuff Vanessa and Rachel passed Brennan and Rachel and Vanessa and Ralph. Oh yeah, Vanessa and Ralph pass Brendan and Rachel and those teams just do not. like each other.
The Amazing Rewatch: Yeah, they are like Like, ooh, you're wearing a lot of glitter in Italy. They do not like each other at all. Which is interesting. I just don't know how they got started off on the wrong foot in the first place. They just...
The Amazing Rewatch: Immediately did not like each other. So... Like we said, everybody chose the statue one except for Rachel and Dave. At this point. right and Rachel and Brendan. Rachel and Brendan. Sorry.
The Amazing Rewatch: to I just looked. at Rachel and Dave's name about them fighting again. I have throughout. I know it's a lot in this episode. yeah Rachel and Dave fighting again. Rachel and Dave fighting again. And Rachel and Brendan fighting again. Yeah. At one point, Rachel... or yeah rachel Brandon and Rachel Rachel.
The Amazing Rewatch: She was like, is this a reflection of how our marriage is going to be? like yeah Yeah, she just. is not very happy and she's like i just wanted to race around the world with my best friend and this isn't even the amazing race is supposed to be fun I think that's kind of like an iconic Uh,
The Amazing Rewatch: scene in like history race history amazing race supposed to be fun and good it's like it's not actually supposed to be fun the whole time It's like really hard. Okay, so let me ask you, because you...
The Amazing Rewatch: said, In the very first episode that you love Rachel. I still do. But... She's not any better than Flo from season three. And you hated flow. So what's the difference?
The Amazing Rewatch: Ummm... um I don't know. I couldn't tell you I guess.
The Amazing Rewatch: I don't hate flow. I just well you didn't like didn't like her.
The Amazing Rewatch: I don't know I think maybe, like, because Flo wasn't on. The team was like her significant other. It was like her friend. yeah And she didn't treat him very good. You shouldn't not treat your significant significant other very good either, but...
The Amazing Rewatch: Um. I don't know I think Flo seemed more helpless. I don't feel like Rachel seems helpless. Rachel actually like... does tasks and does them quickly and like tries really hard. Yeah. And Flo didn't. Like, Flo was like... Like I remember when they were like doing the.
The Amazing Rewatch: little raft thing in vietnam or something laid there and she didn't help at all i think that's the big difference Like Rachel tries really hard actually. Okay.
The Amazing Rewatch: Because I am getting some flow vibes from her. yeah And i I remember really not liking her the first season. I saw her and... I'm being reminded. Bye. Yeah. she is So whiny. She is so.
The Amazing Rewatch: So whiny. I don't know if I can yeah handle it much longer. And we're only in episode four. It'd be hard to fight with her. Like the way she fought with her. She talks like a - baby yeah and like He was like...
The Amazing Rewatch: can we just call it a truce and start off the wrong foot she's like let's just go yeah it's like She just won't let it go. She will not. Yeah. She holds on to it. And maybe it gets better. Maybe this is the worst episode and it can only go up from here. But I'm like, oh my gosh, if this continues.
The Amazing Rewatch: I am being reminded. Yeah. And I don't feel like she's as bad in the other seasons. I i think we've said that before. but or i've said that before yeah the way they talk she talks to him she does talk like a baby like there's one part where he's like didn't you say Ew. Didn't you call me your best friend? she's like Yeah. yeah and what happens when best friends fight.
The Amazing Rewatch: They make up. Oh my gosh.
The Amazing Rewatch: Anyway, okay, so Carrie and Stacey actually choose the salami detour as well. And Brandon and Rachel are going. back and forth because they like go to like pass off a few and Like there's some salamis that are like really distinct in like their.
The Amazing Rewatch: texture and their color and then there's like six or seven that are Really similar. So they have to go. back quite a few, like me well maybe three times.
The Amazing Rewatch: Mm hmm. And it's a half a mile. So that's like. That's a good distance that they're running back and forth, but they do run into Carrie and Stacey. one point, don't they? I don't know I didn't notice that.
The Amazing Rewatch: I guess I didn't notice that, but... It does seem like the cleaning task is much faster. Yeah. Um, But Rachel and Dave do.
The Amazing Rewatch: Oh, not Rachel and Dave. So Rachel and Dave check in as team number two. Mm hmm. And Joey and Danny are team number three. but Vanessa and Ralph 14, number four. And Nary and Jamie are team number five. And they all did the cleaning task. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: um So Brendan and Rachel are team number six. And. At this point, We see that Carrie and Stacey finish up the salami detour and we see Mark and Bopper finish up the cleaning detour.
The Amazing Rewatch: And Mark and Bopper were kind of like. See? They felt like they were last place. Yeah, but they said, we did that really fast, you know. But they were also kind of just, like, enjoying themselves. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: And like being. like hanging out and having fun and being friends and going through Going on the... In the taxi to the pit stop, they were saying like...
The Amazing Rewatch: They just... Today was one of their funnest days on the race. and Dave. And they got to be in Italy. Yeah. So Carrie and Stacey are team number seven. That means Mark and Bopper are last as team number eight.
The Amazing Rewatch: um But Phil is saying things like... It's not good news. You are the last team to arrive. And he never says but. He hasn't said anything but yet. He does say.
The Amazing Rewatch: um Art and JJ. come over here yeah they have something that they want to tell you And like Mark and Bopper are getting really emotional. And throughout this episode, Bopper has been talking about his daughter that has like some medical.
The Amazing Rewatch: needs and she's on like seven medications yeah and has respiratory issues and yeah a few other things. And so... Art and JJ come over there and they say,
The Amazing Rewatch: We. want We each won $5 ,000. We want to split our money with you because you guys are good guys. and You need it. and Your story has just like made us want to give back and.
The Amazing Rewatch: So. it I feel like they gave them. Part of the money, but not all of it, right? So we don't know. how exactly how much or if they just gave it to bopper and not mark we don't really know but they were like sharing some of their winnings which were nice that was super nice of them And then Phil says...
The Amazing Rewatch: But you're not eliminated. But you're not eliminated. This is a not elimination like round. Yeah. And he's like. And you just gave away some of your money. and And now you still have to raise them for a million dollars. Yeah. And they're like, oh.
The Amazing Rewatch: and mark's like no we'll pay them back or bobber says we'll pay them back down the line like Yeah. and r and jj say that in like one of their little interviews that's like we know that when the if they have the opportunity they'll They'll give it back to us. Not not the money specifically, but like help them out at some point on the race or something. Yeah.
The Amazing Rewatch: so Yeah, so that was nice of them. And glad they're not gone. They're very entertaining. Yeah. the What was it? The guy at the...
The Amazing Rewatch: At the cleaning detour. He was like, are you guys engaged? And Bopper's like, you think I'd be engaged to this ugly person? yeah They just kind of laughed about it. Yeah. the white Why he asked that is really, I don't know. That's funny.
The Amazing Rewatch: Anyway, so, yes. Let's see if there's anything because we don't have. Toot. talk about what happens to a team because they are Not eliminated and...
