sports podcast network look Hello and welcome back to Beyond the Pitch, a daily women's football podcast brought to you by the Global Sports Podcast Network. Today it is brought to you by myself, Alka, and I am joined with the oh so wonderful, Paige.
00:00:22
Paige
Hello!
00:00:25
officialgspn
How are we today?
00:00:26
Paige
I'm good, I'm good. I'm finally feeling that we're coming clear of this frozen weather.

January Transfer Season Insights

00:00:32
Paige
So that's positive. Yeah, that's positive.
00:00:33
officialgspn
I know, I got so excited to see the weather not in minus.
00:00:38
officialgspn
um Right, so, today's topics, we're talking about transfers, because still, January transfer season, it's taken a long time. ah The impacts of the weather, if we couldn't be any more British, I thought we had to add this one in, and then, bottomless brunches, I think that is a questionable one, but I love a bit i love a good alcohol topic, to be completely honest.
00:00:52
Paige
yeah yep.
00:01:02
Paige
yeah, these these seem fun topics to discuss for British people today.
00:01:03
officialgspn
but
00:01:06
Paige
the weather, alcohol-fueled things, and we love a little bit of transfer goss.
00:01:12
officialgspn
But... Perfect. Right, let's actually kickstart

Sam Kerr's Move: Analysis and Implications

00:01:15
officialgspn
with these chances because, okay, they're not as excited as last year. There's not as much room ass as last year. However, they're a bit, they're still a bit like insightful. I kind of like to see it.
00:01:27
Paige
Yeah, certainly.
00:01:31
officialgspn
Right, let's start off with the big one, or the big one for me personally, one that I didn't expect to see, is Mr. Manta Kerr.
00:01:41
Paige
Yes, ma'am.
00:01:43
officialgspn
Only if I could wish it was this Australian one, she can get out, which Chelsea, please help everyone else get a chance of winning the league. But no, it's the Scottish damn Kerr.
00:01:51
Paige
Hey, but if you did come to Liverpool, game set match, mate.
00:01:55
officialgspn
No, not for Liverpool, get her out of the country mate.
00:01:57
Paige
use me
00:02:00
officialgspn
oh um Right, so Sam Kerr has transferred just for the end of the season, which is something that's kind of confused me a bit, from Biomunic to Liverpool.
00:02:10
Paige
Yeah, I think, uh, I mean, is she getting the game time that she maybe wants to buy them right now? Um, does she just want to change of, change a country, change a league?
00:02:22
Paige
I think a lot of the time it's probably.
00:02:22
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:02:25
Paige
ah combination of game time testing herself in a new league and obviously WSL being in considered or one of the at least best in the world right now it makes it makes sense from that perspective and I think she probably will do and get the game time that she's after at Liverpool in that midfield so Yeah, I think it's a good little move. I think it's a a fun little bit of history for the for the WSL with obviously two Sam Currs now playing in the same league and potentially or actually against each other and not too long. So yeah, it should be good. I think she can bring some real quality to the team. Obviously adding another international um to a domestic club ah like Liverpool is always a positive.

Young Players in Transfer Market: Decisions and Risks

00:03:10
Paige
um But yeah, I don't really know what What else more is to say about Liverpool from that ah this season perspective? I mean, we we're not really going anywhere, are we? We're not really getting anywhere. um But I think, yeah, could it could it move to a full-time permanent move in the future? I guess we'll see how.
00:03:32
officialgspn
I could see her contract is up with Bayern in 26. so
00:03:37
Paige
Yeah it's definitely something to do with that potentially just having a you know a scan around what's available maybe there's already hints that she's not going to get a contract extension renewal um so I was looking for other opportunities and yeah Liverpool why not move back to the WSL.
00:03:47
officialgspn
yeah I it's exciting for Liverpool. Liverpool have a lot of um
00:03:59
officialgspn
plays that play with a similar style and any time anyone comes from Germany they bring a style that I think even though you think German and English games are very similar because obviously the major difference between English and Spanish is different it's actually not and I think we've seen it a lot when George Stalmer comes back to play for the lionesses we see Not that this sounds really bad because I don't know how to word it, but I'm going to say I feel like she fits in less now. Not that she doesn't even make, him like obviously she's still playing amazingly and making impact and all of that, but I feel like you can definitely see that she stands out for a different reason in terms of playing style both positive and negative now than when she was playing for Citi.
00:04:44
Paige
Yeah, I think it also just the experience that it gives you playing in a new league. um
00:04:52
officialgspn
she's only yes She's only ever been Scotland scotland or Germany. so
00:04:55
Paige
Yeah, exactly. I think it's a really great challenge. um And why not, you know, she's she's obviously not she's not getting any younger. I think it's a really great opportunity to, like I said, test yourself in and an environment like the WSL and at a club that has big aspirations, obviously, you know, most teams do. And I think that's what's what she's really liked, obviously from, you know, what she's spoken with Matt Beard about is is the ambition and this and that side of things.
00:05:24
Paige
Yeah, I think, I think she could do really well. um And I think, you know, it will be nice to potentially get a lot more game time for her and, you know, let's see what that looks like for the rest of her, her contracts with Bayern.
00:05:37
Paige
So yeah, ah but also, you know, Bayern have got a massive end to their season coming up.
00:05:39
officialgspn
yeah
00:05:43
Paige
So it's a surprise to me that they haven't seen her as a player of impact for obviously Champions League, et cetera, which I think maybe is quite telling.
00:05:51
officialgspn
yeah they're not happy yet
00:05:53
Paige
that they're not probably interested in contract renewal. um And maybe, you know, it works both ways. She might not be either. So let's see, let's see what she can bring to to the scouters.
00:06:06
officialgspn
Moving on slightly from Liverpool, I'd just like to think, I'm going back to just players in general, Samco is not too old herself, but we've now got three, I'd say three quite young players that have decided to make big moves this transfer window.
00:06:25
Paige
Yeah.
00:06:26
officialgspn
And I'd like to see, obviously, young players decide on what their future holds, but at the same time,
00:06:32
officialgspn
I like to question some. One that I am questioning, and everyone's going to hate me for questioning, is Grace clear Clinton's contract extension with Man United. I can't actually speak today.
00:06:41
Paige
okay
00:06:42
officialgspn
ah She's accepted her contract until 2026. I think I've got pro and con for this. She's obviously smashing at United. She's finally found her feet.
00:06:52
officialgspn
She's that player, and I understand why she's going to want to stay there. um she's obviously getting the game time, getting the goals, um she knows what she wants, she's comfortable there as well. But at the same time I think any club, especially like top four, would be calling for Grace Clinton. Like the only maybe not club is Chelsea and that's because they've got very similar like players like Grace that they already have. You know, they've got their likes of Aggie Viva Jones, they've got, you know, what, you know, Jess Park can do, even like Captain, all of that. Whereas I would think that City, Arsenal, I even view, but when I go say Birmingham, Brighton, I view Brighton, even though it's developing, I think by next season, they could take United by a storm.
00:07:53
Paige
Yeah, I mean, obviously they've just triggered that contract extension. So that that's obviously already written written in there. So obviously she she probably did have a choice, but maybe it did to a it's quite a selfish choice from a United perspective.
00:08:10
Paige
They've obviously already lost some massive players over the last few seasons um and
00:08:15
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:08:16
Paige
obviously can see her potential, so why would they not want to at least trigger something that, you know, they wrote in there for a reason and, um you know, they they obviously lost her on loan with with Spurs for a time and and she's kind of had that breakthrough with England and ah now is of ah is obviously doing well.
00:08:39
Paige
back at United. um But I think it's probably a selfish reason that United ah have wanted to keep her. I don't think that they want to lose a talent like her, what she brings to the team. um And potentially, you know, there's hopes that she'll then maybe sign that that longer contract. But I agree. I agree. I so i don't think United is the club for Grace.
00:09:04
Paige
um
00:09:07
Paige
And Yeah it is a weird one I think anyone that wants to stay united right now is a weird one um but you know could she yeah could she kind of increase her ah sort of I don't know the interest in her by what she does at united for the next year or so possibly
00:09:15
officialgspn
It's weird, yeah, fully agree.
00:09:32
officialgspn
I'm hoping so, I'm hoping that she can absolutely smash it out of the park, someone comes calling her name, gives the United no choice but to let her go.
00:09:43
officialgspn
similar to you similar to Alessia but I also think I'm still quite confused about United I have very strong views on United as probably everyone knows and I don't know if it's a nice place to be obviously I can't tell you I'm not there but like obviously we we've also seen Hayley Ladd's move from United to Everton and you could be thinking oh she wants to slow down retirement fair enough but
00:09:45
Paige
yeah.
00:10:06
Paige
yeah.
00:10:12
officialgspn
You also, just thinking of the environment, I think players are so more susceptible to leaving if they're not happy in their environment than over club title and money, especially in the women's game.
00:10:21
Paige
Yeah.
00:10:25
Paige
Yeah.
00:10:26
officialgspn
It's very different in the men's game, but I feel like in the women's game, no one cites the money, so no one plays for the money.
00:10:31
Paige
Exactly.
00:10:33
officialgspn
So if you're not happy, you're going to go. And we've seen that numerous times, we've seen that with Viv, we've seen that with Alessia, we've seen that with so many NWSL players. I think that

Motivations for Success: International vs. Domestic

00:10:45
officialgspn
gets me thinking, what is the reason to Hailey's departure from United?
00:10:49
Paige
Yeah. It's an interesting one. It really is. I think the the whole sort of conversation around United, as you've said, is is's always interesting. um But, you know, at Ladd's age, she's probably going to have to think a little bit more, a little bit more selfish with that.
00:11:12
Paige
um You know, everything I've added, you know, some some good players to the squad already this month. so they're obviously trying to bolster what they can, bring in some more experience.
00:11:13
officialgspn
Yep.
00:11:26
Paige
And, you know, she she's got all that experience. She's come, you know, obviously from a national team and stuff. she She brings in a lot of experience and potentially, you know, she's got thoughts about, you know, the Euros coming up.
00:11:41
Paige
You know, does she want to, I don't know. Do you know what I mean? Like, Wales being,
00:11:45
officialgspn
yeah obviously unfortunately don't think they're gonna have the longest run i hope to never say never but that same never say never is me saying that you know like spade won't make it out of the groups so it's looking more likely they're not
00:11:51
Paige
Never say no i never mate, never say never. and
00:12:00
Paige
Yeah.
00:12:04
Paige
Yeah, I know, I know. Um, and maybe, maybe just that's what she wants, just to switch up for the rest of the season.
00:12:12
officialgspn
okay
00:12:13
Paige
See her, see her, you know, how she can impact there to sort of then impact Wales longer term.
00:12:20
Paige
Maybe. Maybe, maybe, maybe.
00:12:22
officialgspn
Fair enough, yeah.
00:12:23
Paige
Yeah.
00:12:24
officialgspn
I feel like it's so... I'm not...
00:12:26
officialgspn
I don't know how to put it, as in like... As a player, would you always... As Virgin in the end of your career, would you... Well, actually this is stupid because I've answered my question.
00:12:39
officialgspn
What I was gonna say is, would you prioritize playing internationally or domestically? But if you're not playing domestically, you're gonna be picked internationally anyway, so...
00:12:47
Paige
Yeah, I think it's definitely situational, isn't it? But I also think you may have to think about where, or what, you I always think as a, as a professional player, the most, the biggest thing that I'd want to do is when I retire and I look back, what am I going to look back on? Am I going to look back on maybe the individual awards that I've won? Or am I going to think about the, the sort of club accolades that I've been able to to accomplish?
00:13:14
Paige
And then I'll obviously prioritise well, you know, have I made my appearance for my national team? Have I been successful with them? was what What defines success for me and my national team? Because, you know, not every national team is an England, is a Spain. So I think it it obviously comes from a ah more personal perspective on what you determine success. And, you know, if you look at maybe the men's game and one player in particular I think they always talk about you know the legacy and stuff Harry Kane for example you know he's he's left Spurs an absolute legend and from a personal perspective or the personal accolades that he's won outstanding but you've never won a trophy.
00:13:54
Paige
So when you look back in your career, or obviously not until now he's going to buy him, but when you looked back at his career, had he left or had he retired at Spurs? Yes, he could say I did XYZ personally, but then what you what are you judged upon?
00:13:54
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:14:08
Paige
Is it the league titles that you win? Is it the trophies that you win? Or is it the impact you have ah on a club or what sells your own you know your own personal career?
00:14:16
Paige
so I think, you know, it comes from motivations, doesn't it? And every player has different motivations and every player has different aspirations from when they start as a player to when they're looking to end their career. And, you know, we're seeing that across the men's game, permanently, constantly, you know, with the likes of even, you know, what we talk about Liverpool a lot because of, I'm a Liverpool fan, but like with Trent Alexander Arnold, for example, you know, you think, why would you ever want to leave your boyhood club
00:14:17
officialgspn
yeah
00:14:44
Paige
when you're being so successful there you're the next leader you're the next player to potentially
00:14:45
officialgspn
Mm hmm.

Marta's Legacy and Career Decisions

00:14:50
Paige
you know win a massive amount but yet you're maybe thinking a little bit more personally or person-minded and now thinking of ah of that move out of the club so i think players all have different motivations and obviously you know I think prioritising, especially when you come towards the end of your career, is maybe just playing for as long as you can or just maybe making an impact for for as long as you can in a club that you are enjoying or a club that you are finding aligns a little bit more with with your personal mantra at that time type thing. so
00:15:23
Paige
Yeah is transfers to me are always interesting and and sort of motivations for those transfer moves especially in the women's game when money hasn't ever been right.
00:15:33
officialgspn
Yeah, does it play a part?
00:15:35
Paige
so
00:15:40
Paige

00:16:01
officialgspn
right back on the transfers we have i would say this is a really big one i'm i don't know if i could tell shocked but i know he expected this to come martyr has signed a contract attention with the orlando pride until 2026 right i know i'm not a hater i know you're giving me those eyes like what you're about to say now i think Like good for her, if you can sustain it, sustain it, go for it, play until you can. But at the same time, she ended, sorry, she ended the season on such a good high.
00:16:37
Paige
Maybe she just doesn't know when to stop.
00:16:41
officialgspn
She ended the season, her mum hadn't come, watched her, the ages, watched her win the NWSL and she's thinking, right, let me go play and risk, you know, the perfect ending. Obviously it's not about the perfect ending. And I think for Martis, it's most certainly not about the perfect ending because obviously she's been playing for a long, long, long time. But so she didn't even have the perfect beginning, the perfect middle, she's only had the perfect end. But yeah, what do we think?
00:17:09
Paige
I'm telling you, World Cup 2027 and best believe Marta's first on that team sheet.
00:17:15
officialgspn
Come back out of my time and...
00:17:17
Paige
I'm telling you, there's, I mean, obviously it's, we've already kind of touched upon motivations, right?
00:17:25
Paige
And I think Marta is probably like, ah what else what else can she accomplish you know in the women's game from a personal perspective other than why don't you just play until you can't anymore because I for damn sure wish that I had the opportunity to have played at the highest level for as long as I can and she's got the body that's enabling her to do it there will come a time where obviously that will break down you know enough to say actually yeah your girl can't run anymore but but She's done so well.
00:17:26
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:17:57
Paige
And I think she's probably absolutely loving the life that she's leading in Orlando right now. I think they're eating her up completely.
00:18:06
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:18:07
Paige
um And I mean, it's only a one year. We've just obviously alluded to the fact that, you know, Grace Clinton has had her one year extension triggered and obviously they have triggered in different ways and for different reasons and the futures and potentials of the players.
00:18:21
officialgspn
I feel like, I'm so sorry, but I've just seen, I feel like it's two years.
00:18:26
Paige
Is it?
00:18:28
officialgspn
I'm not sure the BBC's telling me it's a two year deal.
00:18:31
Paige
Right, so she's definitely in the World Cup squad.
00:18:33
officialgspn
yeah
00:18:34
Paige
I'm telling you, I am telling you, that's why she's staying out in the States.
00:18:35
officialgspn
ah
00:18:38
Paige
She ain't got to do a lot of flying.
00:18:41
officialgspn
Mm-hmm.
00:18:42
Paige
She's living her best mate.
00:18:43
officialgspn
Oh. Tina War, I applaud her. I can't even fault that woman, like...
00:18:47
Paige
Crack on, get you a new lipstick and go and smash your new season.
00:18:49
officialgspn
Seriously.
00:18:52
officialgspn
She wants to break these records to another dimension.
00:18:56
Paige
for real though like is that not the dream though to play football at the highest level until you physically cannot anymore and successfully do so exactly that
00:19:00
officialgspn
Yeah. Like, if it's not... Yeah, if it's not causing any sort of disruption or havoc in your life, why stop it? It's like the same thing. We wouldn't stop anything we're doing right now if it didn't hinder us. So why is she stopping then just because of like, oh, stereotype and age and, oh, possibilities.
00:19:24
Paige
Exactly that and I just think she's a legend, she she always will be and you know obviously what she's done for the game and the generations that she's spanned across the game she's seen it go from you know nothing to something of and she's been at the forefront of pushing that envelope which is great to see and you know i I genuinely think if you know if you sat her in a room with other legends of the game that started around the same time they'd be
00:19:40
officialgspn
yeah
00:19:44
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:19:54
Paige
really salty as to why she's still playing. They'd be 100% supportive of it, but 100% jealous of how they've not been able to do the same. So oh well, crack on.
00:19:55
officialgspn
Is that, yeah.
00:20:02
officialgspn
Oh, I would so be jealous as well.
00:20:05
Paige
Smash your new season.

Guru Reiten's Impact at Chelsea

00:20:07
Paige
Get yourself... Not that she has to audition for a World Cup, so I do it. Get yourself in the World Cup squad.
00:20:12
officialgspn
And we'll see her out there.
00:20:13
Paige
Do bits in the World Cup. Get your get your country as far as they can go, which obviously, yeah. And why not?
00:20:26
Paige
You go, Marta.
00:20:27
officialgspn
Right, Yooka Girl, ah last ones for extension, just one that
00:20:27
Paige
You go.
00:20:34
officialgspn
just totally makes sense, like I couldn't see anything else happening to this player is Guru right and she has extended her contract with Chelsea um as much as this pains me to say because she's wicked um this is the perfect place I think bringing them that new manager with Sonia I can't see her ever wanting to go anywhere else I wouldn't want to go anywhere else um
00:20:59
officialgspn
she's getting the game time, she's still being utilised, she's waiting for Miss Sam Kerr to come back to have them link ups as usual. I think she's just only going to get better from here and why not stay at a club that you know has just literally given you the world for many years in a row.
00:21:09
Paige
Yeah.
00:21:16
Paige
Yeah, and exactly that. And again, another year, you know, you look at her age, you look at the fact that, you know, she's probably not gonna...
00:21:28
Paige
Oh, wow. We've just talked about Marta right now. We can't say that girl is not going to go on and smash things before she's 60, but, you know, um she's absolutely smashed it at Chelsea.
00:21:33
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:21:39
Paige
she's been there like five years now so yeah I think yeah it makes it makes sense um top goal scorer Sonia's obviously getting the best out of her especially as you said with the absence of the other Sam um the less important sound I'm joking um
00:21:39
officialgspn
And yeah, I am excited.
00:21:42
officialgspn
I'm excited for everyone to come back.
00:22:02
officialgspn
Yeah, for real. Get on your bike.
00:22:05
Paige
And yeah, you know, why would she not want to stay in a club that she's obviously done so much for, has done so much for her and six points clear of city.
00:22:15
officialgspn
um Possible Champions League title, like...
00:22:17
Paige
Exactly. You know, you're ticking all the boxes for a dream season. Um, and she's played a really crucial your part in it, especially as a winger, you know, to, to be bagging, you know, of so many goals from a wide position.
00:22:21
officialgspn
Why not replicate it?
00:22:26
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:22:31
officialgspn
also to have been out injured for multiple weeks of that season. so
00:22:35
Paige
Yeah, yeah, which puts the question marks on the rest of the Chelsea squad. Where i are you? But, you know, they don't clearly don't need anyone else at this point.
00:22:42
officialgspn
ah real
00:22:45
Paige
um But yeah, I heard your trophy list is mad. Five WSL titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, like, We talk about legacy and we talk about, you know, personal motivations, that in itself, you've won all those trophies, you're smashing it from an individual perspective. um You've secured that contract extension. And yeah, another one, just go ahead, do it as as long as you can. and And I'm sure, I'm sure once, you know, this season she'll she'll sit down and she'll probably

review like, you know, what she sees her future looking like.
00:23:21
Paige
but she's been given, she's been given that opportunity from Chelsea. And I think at, you know, 30 years old, that's the only thing that you could ever hope is that a club buys into you for, you know, another season and and she'll, she's got that. And obviously the support of Sonia with that. So yeah, good, good, good.
00:23:21
officialgspn
Yeah.

Right, hopping into our final topic,

Chelsea's Bottomless Brunch: A New Experience

00:24:08
officialgspn
we are discussing Bottomless Brunch.
00:24:14
officialgspn
Now of course, of course if any club has to welcome this Bottomless Brunch, it's going to be the club with the hotel in the grounds. The one and only Chelsea.
00:24:21
Paige
Yep.
00:24:24
Paige
Makes sense. Huh?
00:24:24
officialgspn
I'm not too sure.
00:24:28
officialgspn
Not too sure. So the hospitality package includes pre-match half time and post-match bottomless brunch. And this Charles, yeah, so it's obviously starting from quite quite soon.
00:24:41
officialgspn
What was you saying? The Arsenal Chelsea game.
00:24:42
Paige
Yeah, you can get it from the 26th of January.
00:24:46
officialgspn
That's like next week.
00:24:47
Paige
Yep.
00:24:48
officialgspn
um
00:24:50
officialgspn
I'm just thinking, Like, I get why it's there, it's a novelty, it's like, oh my god, Chelsea, number one biggest fan, gets to bottomless brunch on their birthday, it's it's cute, it's sweet.
00:25:02
officialgspn
um
00:25:04
officialgspn
But do I want a bottomless brunch during the football match?
00:25:08
Paige
I mean, you you've already know but you know hit the nail on the head. It's Chelsea. I think from a marketing perspective, what have they recognized? The majority of their fan base is what?
00:25:21
Paige
Female, right?
00:25:23
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:25:23
Paige
The majority of their fan base is between the ages of, let's say 18 to 40.
00:25:26
officialgspn
I'd say yeah.
00:25:30
Paige
If that, what does that demographic of person typically do on their weekends.
00:25:38
officialgspn
Brunt.
00:25:39
Paige
They brunch, right? They brunch whether they're bottomless in or whether they're brunching after a run. They're brunching and I think obviously to coincide with the sort of trial that's going on in the championship with you know allowing alcohol into the stands it's a synonymous type thing you know you're gonna bring about opportunities for more drinking and It's a moneymaker, I think women love a brunch, a lot of women love a bottomless brunch, and a lot of women love Chelsea.
00:26:09
officialgspn
Oh, it's a big money maker.
00:26:17
Paige
But the one thing that I do want to put a question mark over, and this might just be because it's the Arsenal game, but if you look on the website at present, it's £170 per person.
00:26:27
officialgspn
That is exhausting.
00:26:27
Paige
£270 per person, that's £200 to go to a Chelsea Arsenal game, which generally costs you what if you don't have a season ticket?
00:26:36
officialgspn
Yeah. 12, 50, 15, depends what age you are.
00:26:39
Paige
Right, under £20 for a game, let's say you spend £25 maximum, that's your train down there or your, you know, train beers.
00:26:42
officialgspn
it It...
00:26:49
Paige
And then you have to spend another £170.
00:26:55
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:26:55
Paige
I just think it's a hell of a lot of money, but I think for the type of person and the type of experience, there's going to be people that I want to do. it I know my group chats have been messaging me, oh, we've got to go and do the Chelsea Butler spread. Do we, though?
00:27:08
Paige
do you know because i i don't like I just recently experienced premium at a men's game and loved it and had bottomless drinks beforehand as part of the package and yes did I love being a little bit buzzed to watch a match but was the match was my buzz killed because the game was awful? Yes but did I enjoy the opportunity to have a ah cheeky drink um knowing that it was already all paid for within my ticket price.
00:27:09
officialgspn
No.
00:27:36
Paige
Yeah I did but I don't know if I'm going to want to spend that amount to do an all I can drink and then sit for 90 minutes and watch football with a little bit of a heavy head.
00:27:47
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:27:51
Paige
um
00:27:52
officialgspn
I just, I can't see it being sustained. Like, but also think about it. Every, a lot of people that come to the matches are going to come with youth. So you're not going to go to a bottomless brunch, you know, with your seven year old son or your 12 year old daughter.
00:28:01
Paige
Yeah, yeah.
00:28:08
Paige
Yeah.
00:28:09
officialgspn
That's just not going to happen. And I think if you are an adult or if you were a mum with a child, or obviously if a dad was a child, men can do bottomless brunches too, you're not gonna then come to a match just to solely do bottomless brunch without either bringing your son slash daughter or you know it's it's not really hitting the pin point I feel like and no one's gonna want to pay 170 for their kid to come to bottomless brunch and not drink
00:28:29
Paige
It's quite niche, isn't it? It's quite niche.
00:28:33
Paige
Yeah, I think they're trying to go on.
00:28:41
Paige
Yeah, yeah, they've they've definitely they're definitely targeting it to that, that big demographic that I'm, I know, attends women's football matches. um And i think yeah I do think that you know people will be will buy into it.
00:28:58
Paige
I don't think, like as you say, it's a long term thing. I probably think it's going to be like ah the rest of the season type trial.
00:29:03
Paige
And then maybe other clubs will pick up some sort of inkling as to whether it's worth doing.
00:29:04
officialgspn
yeah
00:29:06
officialgspn
Yeah.
00:29:11
Paige
um But I do think, I do think that it will do well in the short term. Don't think it's a sustainable thing. Think it's a fun thing to trial. But I also recognize that it's quite a Arsenal Chelsea.
00:29:23
Paige
I can imagine Arsenal haven't done this as well. I don't think that it would extend to many other clubs in the WSM.
00:29:28
officialgspn
So could have I, yes.
00:29:29
Paige
It's definitely an Arsenal Chelsea type thing. I don't even think a city type fan base would love it.
00:29:34
Paige
I think yeah.
00:29:34
officialgspn
It's not, I think it's, it's a money making scheme.
00:29:37
officialgspn
I'll tell you that for a fact. And some clubs are more in the business element than others.
00:29:42
Paige
Yeah, which I'm surprised when Olivia hasn't thought about it for the men's game.
00:29:46
officialgspn
Yeah, two more. Actually, I was going to bring it out in a bit.
00:29:49
Paige
But no, I think, yeah, it's it's a fun thing. I think there's going to be loads of people that are open to it. And I think loads of people will talk about, yeah, I'd love to do a bottomless brunch at a Chelsea game. And then they look at the price and they kind of deep it when you could actually go and do a bottomless brunch.
00:30:03
Paige
A two o'clock kickoff, you know, if you could get in for an early slaughter bottomless brunch anywhere else in London. It's probably going to cost you less and then your your ticket on top of that is going to be a lot less than £170.
00:30:15
Paige
But, you know, what it comes with, you've got two and a half hours pre-match, half time and an hour after the final whistle. So you've got what?
00:30:27
Paige
Three and a half hours?
00:30:27
officialgspn
Half time doesn't even count. Yeah, that's like shorter than a normal bottomless brunch with more select alcohol and more select food. So you'll really just go in there to sit in some comfy seats and watch a triple match.
00:30:34
Paige
Yeah.
00:30:38
Paige
Which, I mean, if you bought premium at any of these stadiums, for a women's game is probably a lot less.
00:30:45
officialgspn
It will be like 25 to 30 quid, yeah.
00:30:47
Paige
And you've really got to love a hot dog.
00:30:49
Paige
Really i love it love a hot dog. So it's an interactive chef-led gourmet footlong hot dog station. Station to me means serve yourself.
00:30:50
officialgspn
ah Really?
00:31:00
officialgspn
yeah it's like giving buffet
00:31:00
Paige
oh Yeah, with a brunch themed,

Conclusion and Reflections

00:31:04
Paige
with brunch themed toppings. I don't know, I don't eat hot dogs, but I don't think I would want a scrambled egg hot dog, a bacon bits hot dog, or an avocado hot dog.
00:31:15
officialgspn
that would just sit very nicely with alcohol in your stomach in general so
00:31:19
Paige
And I'm thinking of the nasty hot dogs you get out of a jar, but I think if you but did like a vrap verse sausage, is that the right word? Like, you know, what a proper like, I don't know, like a Cumberland sausage.
00:31:31
Paige
Sausage, you basically eat egg, bacon, avocado, you've basically got to fry up in a bun. You put it that way, I'm a bit more into it, but I also don't think I'd spend £170 on a hot dog. And that's the thing, that's what I keep coming back to is that cost, that cost. But I do think it's a cool experience and the avid, you know, Chelsea fan would yam that up completely.
00:31:31
officialgspn
Mm.
00:31:56
officialgspn
I just, i I can't see it staying for very long. i it It's a nice idea, good try, have a go, but it's not what people are going to watch the game for, at least not yet anyways.
00:32:09
officialgspn
I can understand if, you know, things are going a bit boring or people are wanting a bit of a different change, a bit more of an activity, but
00:32:17
Paige
you I don't know if it's going to be pushing the women's game. I think it's a fun way to do it for the short term, but I don't think it's going to inspire the next generation to get into football.
00:32:28
Paige
it like You can actually also go a game, get absolutely mortal and go watch a football match.
00:32:39
officialgspn
for real. um Unfortunately, that is all we have time for for today.
00:32:40
Paige
Interesting.
00:32:45
officialgspn
We are going to have to wrap it up there. um I mean, to effle us that we're just thinking about this bottomless brunch, will you be attending? Because I don't think I would be. I just also, Stamford Bridge is not the most luxurious place.
00:33:00
officialgspn
Like, so
00:33:00
Paige
It's also a nightmare to get to.
00:33:02
officialgspn
Yeah, but like I think I'd rather have a bottomless brunch in the Emirates because I know they've got some very useful lounges or stunning.
00:33:07
Paige
Yes Sam, shall we say?
00:33:11
officialgspn
But yeah, unfortunately, we will we'll have to be wrapping that up and we will see you next time.
00:33:16
Paige
Yeah, we'd love to hear your thoughts. Have a good one.
