Speaker: Take that you worms. Welcome back. We're in the arc 19 of dissecting worm. courage Scourge. Scourge. Welcome Welcome Michael. Thank you. Gentlemen. Thank you Jacob. How are you all doing this evening? Full of grilled cheese and tomato soup and I'm ready to go. hey Man, if that ain't the combo. I'm good. Thank you Jacob. How are you?

Speaker: Oh, doing just fine. Thanks for asking guys. We are, we are in the final episode of our, uh, hypothetical season of this worm TV series that we are constructing. It's very amazing.

Speaker: and This is it where this is night arc 19. So, uh, 16, 17, 18, 19. I think, I think it's 15, 15, 16, 17. I think it's five.

Speaker: Five hearts. Yeah. And dan assuming another five for the next two. So, you know, I looked ahead a little bit. i yeah I feel like the next five group. Well, and then the final five, I think of course would make, would make a great final season, but we'll, we'll get there. Just give us time to cook. o But here we are. End of season 32. It's pretty crazy. That's crazy. How quick we're going. We're flying through this thing.

Speaker: And, uh, we've got quite, quite a finale here with the, oh yeah, the end of no, well, the conclusion of the travelers as, as an arc, pretty much. Um, lots of other little bombshells, little, uh, little moments. It's good stuff. Good stuff in this arc. I think it was sometime this week.

Speaker: that I realized what I don't like about this season as a whole. and me and Let me see if I can, if I wrote it down, but essentially what I was thinking this week was season three, the big issues that I've had with it so far. And, you know, ah just what's been on my mind has been there is a lot of buildup for, um, abrupt payoff.

Speaker: And a lot of unsatisfying conclusions in this season. Um, ah like every time something satisfying, it's not like it's not at the correct time. Every time something's, uh, you know, like every time something is at the right time, it's not satisfying because it just doesn't feel like it's been kind of led to. So.

Speaker: in my mind, this whole season as is, is extremely poorly paced for anything outside of a web serial, yeah even in a web. So I have my, I have my issues. Um,

Speaker: But yeah, we've, we've talked about, we we've, we've mentioned a few times our, our pacing issues. We have, um, within this, within the serialization itself, uh, rushed, uh, death of coil, um, echidna fight while it takes pretty much two full arcs and is yeah so much fun to read. It does feel a bit rushed. It feels a bit,

Speaker: uh, quick in terms of how long it's taken us to get to this point. Honestly, the pacing of arc nine is pretty good. I think it's, Oh, we kind of start with a fight and then we get out. We have a ton of drama. Um, and then we have the fight and the drama to like lead us out. and I really enjoyed that.

Speaker: Um, like the pacing in this particular chapter. Solid, but you know, then we go back and like we talked about before, like the open with returning Dinah, like, that's weird. Oh, right. Yeah. Right. we are I think yeah we talked about that last episode.

Speaker: Yeah, that was in the, that was an arc 18. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, and, and truthfully as I was trying to think about this season as a whole, this is the first time where it's been glaringly obvious to me that as trying to adapt this for television, this is when it's been most apparent that you will definitely need to cut to other things going on in the world, to cut to the wards, a cut to Fault Line's crew, a cut to Defiant and Dragon hunting down the ah Slaughterhouse Nine. like It really feels like we need to see other things going on because there's just not enough

Speaker: of the main story to stretch out an entire season for for these arcs. And it's I think it's worth pointing out too that that before anyone's just like, well, just go into the next arc or something like that. it's This is a really definitive cut ah in the story. um It really wouldn't make sense to go into another arc at this point.

Speaker: Um, cause I thought about that for a little bit, but it, it just really doesn't like there's too much of a shift in the story at the end of 19. Like it's just too, it's too conclusive. Yeah. Um, yeah now that you say that, like, I remember us getting a bunch of stuff to, you know, from people being like, Hey, you know, have different plots, going a plot B plot. And I'm reading, you know, looking at,

Speaker: the first season of stuff. And I'm like, I really don't think there needs to be a B plot. There's like, I feel like this is a straight forward story in which we're following our protagonist and occasionally doing our cold opens or closes somewhere else just to expand the world and characters, if you will. And it felt like, you know, come season two, I was like,

Speaker: Oh yeah, this is a great opportunity. It felt very natural to like open up the world to different venues with different characters. So like, you know, adding well, adding Amy sort of as main characters, like that, that absolutely makes sense to me. And then of course in this third arc, I, I don't feel that as much, but like it definitely like continues what kind of season two had going for it. Like, yeah, like,

Speaker: Of course they need, you know, of course we need other plots going on. Um, but it's interesting. I think as the seasons, you know, maybe it's just the writing for me, but, um, like as I write along with it, but.

Speaker: i I don't know. ah Yeah, it's tricky. It's it's it's definitely one of those one of those seasons where it would make a lot of sense to have a few more scenes with the words, especially because we do have these really tense moments between Clock Blocker and Taylor, and these are really really great moments right ah where they work together. Same with Weld.

Speaker: um you know little moments like that where it would it would really help those moments if we see more of the of the wards throughout the season. So like that makes sense. um There's also the continued cauldron thread that was really started in season two that is carried through here. And it just makes a lot of sense to to expand on that here. um yeah I could see us coming back. i you know um' haven't read to the rest of the series in so long. So I'm trying, I know there's other big cauldron moments coming. Um, and there's interludes and things like that. So maybe we restructure some of that down the line and, and put that in here. And and again, you don't need much. We still have our main story, but enough to cut to, to break it up, to help with the pacing, to like you said, just sort of fill out the season a bit so that there's just a bit more happening, uh, in, in the story.

Speaker: Agreed. Yep. But but we we we'll get there because our next episode of Dissecting Worm will be our season three recap in which we're going to recap all these things we're talking about. but mean What do we do? I think in or and know. And we're going to have, of course, our guests, special guests as we have in the past. Nick and Hannah will join us to hit their gas, their fresh fresh ears on it and let's see what they say. yeah These are because are things we'll have to yeah have to kind of overcome. um let's Let's circle back to that at the end because I think there's some good stuff to touch on in terms of where we want to structure everything, but in terms of of strictly arc 19, just to kind of get through the arc itself here.

Speaker: Let's do it. I'll just say right off the bat, very, very little in here that I'd want to change, and if anything, really. I really like what's written in the arc. i It's such a good conclusion. I am very interested in changing up. This made me want to change a bunch of stuff retroactively. What specifically?

Speaker: as we're going through a lot of like who's with who, i you know, most of this is for sort of the culture and reveal um the who's with who, the like relationships between certain people.

Speaker: um

Speaker: We'll get to them as we go on, but um yeah, it made me really interested in changing up things. ah It, it, it actually made me, one of the things I was thinking about was like, okay, how do we keep, you know, coil and, uh, even Dinah around for a bit. Um, and but this was an easy thought right here, but now they get out, uh, make it so Noel knows that coil brought on her and Dinah.

Speaker: to, you know, as an excuse to fix her. So she knows that they probably have the ability to. um And I mean, Tattletale shows that she has, you know, the smarts to open a time space rip to another world. So right she did in fact send the travelers back, which was kind of part of that. um But Maybe we kick off the bat with Noel hunting down Dinah and tattletale. Like, Oh no, you can't go home because burp, burr, Noel's after you. Like we send you home. We are just leaving you out for the wolf to come. Nom, nom, nom on. So making tattletale and Dinah, uh, this little duo, um, also

Speaker: As a complete fan note. ah If only Dinah had stayed on as Tattletales Prodigy, that would have been really good. Oh my gosh. Could you imagine that? God, do I want to? I'm unstoppable. Maybe, um just for the fans, Alan, maybe me do a compare and contrast of what you're wanting to change versus how it how it's kind of laid out just to scratch out. Dinah's already dropped off at her house for you know the beginning of the Echidna fight. She says, hey, we're gonna be there's a 50 % chance I don't go home.

Speaker: Uh, and you know, Taylor realizes all of a sudden, Oh, that 50 % chance is kind of just dependent on me. Like, do I want to use her to want to send her home? So she's like, I'm going to be the one that send her, sends her home, sends her home. So dynasty out of the picture for all of this. Uh, and then Noel is intentionally hunting down the undersiders because she just has a grudge because she believes that, uh, coil yeah was working on a cure and was her way home and that the other side specifically have blamed them for that. So she is on a rampage to kill them. Yeah. What I am proposing is that she is specifically hunting down tattletale and Dinah because she knows the coil was using them or had said that he was going to be using their abilities to help her at home and get humanized. Um,

Speaker: So if she can get to them, she can do her evil and clone thing and maybe get them to give her some answers. Um, on top of, you know, maybe being specifically pissed off at, uh, the undersiders as well, like, you know, Taylor specifically. So, uh, I think, you know, that would fit very much into keeping Dinah around for a little bit. She doesn't get to go home yet because they're on the run. They're getting attacked. Um, you know,

Speaker: They're sort of not comfortable handing over Dinah to the PRT maybe for some reason, um, because it's just too out in the open and they're not taking the threat serious enough would be an easy one. Like if you don't understand, you'd have to have S class threat with S class protection for Dinah. Um, yeah.

Speaker: Jacob, thoughts so far? Yeah, I mean, I think I like the idea of giving a bit more direction to what Echidna is after, as opposed to just ah kill the undersiders, which I think is fine. And I don't want to take that away. I think that should definitely be part of it. She's pissed at them for killing coil.

Speaker: um or messing up the plans, you know, whatever. um But I think that's good. I think that helps, especially because we've talked about already how it yeah and it's rough.

Speaker: giving Dinah back in the position it's it's a written in. It doesn't really make a lot of sense. So if she's going to stay around giving her a role in the story, even as just bait, it it it works a bit better. So I think that's i think that's probably good. Yeah, I like it. That's great as bait. Taylor walks out with Dinah. They stand in the middle of the street. She's like, I brought her.

Speaker: let everyone else go, you know, she just, you know, she, she starts running at them, you know, Dinah's freaking out, but Taylor's like holding her hand and, you know, just standing there. And that's when the, the slice happened. The slice. yeah like I think that's a great ending. you If we wanted to still have that moment. Oh, we gotta have that moment. The slice is iconic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course we're having that moment. Um,

Speaker: Yeah, that, that was one of them. I think, you know, you get also in terms of themes for this episode, specifically, I wish there was more of it, but as a trajectory where we're going with this arc into the next one and the one after that, I think we talked, I think we talked about this last time but that I would really like Taylor to struggle more with her decisions in this one.

Speaker: And we typically get a lot of like, oh, her conflict is, I don't know, around doing bad things to, you know, get Dinah free. But to be honest, I don't feel like she's really that conflicted. What I would like to see in this season is she has the opportunity to free Dinah and she She like essentially struggles with her using Dinah, maybe to beat a kidney, like, you know, her doing things that coil would have done. Um, and, and actually struggling, like these are decisions that need to be made or don't need to be made. And she feels bad about them. And I want this all to lead to her. You know what?

Speaker: I want this to lead to her taking Dinah home, feeling super guilty about it. Then she gets the pieces of paper, which would be great to have at the end of this, rather than like she does have it at the end of the, uh, uh, the story here. You know, we don't see what they are, but we know that they're basically cut ties, join heroes sort of thing. Um, so.

Speaker: I think that that should be what happens at the very end. Like she's worked with Dinah. She had the opportunity to maybe take Dinah home and she didn't. She feels super guilty about this and she realizes, okay, after watching all of this, after seeing the heroes fall apart, after seeing all of this, despite all that, I think in order to save the world, I think it's going to take me joining the heroes. um And that's,

Speaker: that it this is the season that forces her to do that, um so to look at herself and to struggle with herself. What I'm actually kind of upset at is that we didn't... Did we get any evil skitters other than like the bugs running into her? Or did they all get the clones? Yeah, I thought they all got whacked pretty quickly. Like yeah they literally weren't making it off the ground.

Speaker: Yeah, there's not a lot of I don't believe there's of any serious interaction with a with a clone skitter. I feel like there's one incident where she talks about like there are two clone skitters like out there and she can feel them like basically take stealing her power kind of. Yeah, well, that they there's a bit of that.

Speaker: um but I don't feel like she ever interacted with them specifically. Like she never fought her evil clones. And I think that's a missed opportunity for us that I think she needs to, you know, much like when she went toe to toe with clock blocker, you know, a great time in this season. And then she goes toe to toe with miss militia later on, you know, it's just loss of her having to justify her actions.

Speaker: I think having finally literally evil clones get out there and be like, you piece of shit. You're a garbage human being. You had the opportunity to you know do good and you didn't. And you know now we're here to punish you for that. So she is literally and you know metaphorically fighting with herself this whole season.

Speaker: Yeah, I think that's, I think you got to be careful of being a little too on the nose, but I definitely like the idea of her, you know, at least fighting one one of her clones at some point feels like yeah needs to happen. I don't see it feels like everybody should fight a doppelganger at some point. Yeah. like It's one of those things where like we've talked about like how worm handles deconstruction of the superhero genre and this, and it does a deconstruction and a reconstruction in the same go, you know, it is,

Speaker: leaning into the tropes and doing them good and explaining. And this is one of those where like, I did not think about until this time, like, oh my gosh, they are literally fighting the like, ah, it's your evil clone. It's your bizarro, you know, legend. Oh no, like,

Speaker: did not calculate that at all in my head. This is just its own thing. And that's because it's very unique. It's very good. But at the end of the day, it's literally Superman fighting Bizarro and yeah the evil Justice League, you know, the, the Legion, what it was, League of ja lord justice lord versus yeah just Justice Lords versus the Justice League. like ye That's what's going on here at the end of the day. I was like, okay, you know, I can dig this. like Um, yeah, so yeah I think missed opportunity. I think we should definitely have her fight at least one. I have like the idea of like two of them walking around her while she's like getting up and essentially bullying her.

Speaker: yeah Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of different ways you could do it. um you know you can ah ah Different conversations you could have, different moments. I think this would be a good time to sort of reiterate you know different themes that you've had in the story. and and ah you know i'd say I think one of the themes of this season is summed up nicely at the very last interlude with what Sophia tells Emma, which is like the strong or the ones who survive, yeah you know, that whole thing. And I think that's ah ah pretty a pretty nice theme that can cover this season. So, you know, a bit of that thrown in there,

Speaker: Taylor not being weak or being think you know called weak and all this kind of stuff. There's there's a lot of different a lot of different ways you can you can create some good moments, some good tension ah with that kind of stuff. Yeah, I think that's good. I think there's a lot you could do with that for sure. um How do you feel about the opening to this with Taylor whipping back and forth between what's going on and traumatic moments?

Speaker: while she's inside Echidna? Yeah. Yeah, it depends on how, if you wanna end the last episode with her getting pulled in, then I think you've gotta open this episode with her battling the like you know psychological attacks of being inside Echidna. Yeah. um um yeah but What I was gonna say is do we want to,

Speaker: yeah Do we want to show that or do we want to have, I don't know, tattletale and weld work together um to get her out? I think so. If you're going to, if you're going to give her some of the conflict with fighting a clone of herself, then I think you take away some of the emotional conflict of being trapped in the kidney. But I don't think you take it all away. I think maybe you just make it a bit more ah trippy, you know, a bit more obscure. Um, she's seeing, uh, you know, like a, like, it like an acid trip of faces and shouting and screaming and, and stuff. It's like very confusing, but very clearly all of her trauma, like that kind of thing. Um, yeah and then have her get pulled out that, you know,

Speaker: um Otherwise, if you wanted to go a more serious route where she's facing her conflicts and it's less trippy and more like intentional, then I think it gets redundant to have her do that again with a clone of herself. It's like the same thing. um ah just kind of I think it would get a little little repetitive. Maybe you can pull it off that way, but feels it feels like it'd be a little a little much. um Yeah.

Speaker: That's why I was, uh, I was wondering, like, I, you know, in, in. I like to avoid some of these things here. We've talked about avoiding flashbacks and I'm not a huge fan of necessarily the dream sequences either. But, uh, you know, this feels sort of in the line of those where I'm not sure I really want to dive into.

Speaker: or experience all the trauma inside and us doing flashbacks of it, I would be more okay with us settling for i literally just like ripping her out. I mean, or having weld, not immediately, obviously, but either we have her in there for a while or we we have something else going on.

Speaker: quickly then rip her out. Well, again, so there's the issue, right? Where if, if your cliffhanger is her getting pulled in, then having her being ripped out right at the start of the next episode is really anticlimactic. Yeah, I don't want that. Yeah. You've had like, you know, theoretically a week of buildup and everyone's like, Oh my God, no, it's going to happen. And then you just start the episode and and you pull her out. It's like, okay, you know, yeah so I would like this to be a weld, heavy, heavy episode. So if I was left her in there,

Speaker: you could and You could start the episode with the wards you could or you know other groups of of fighters. The fights are going on. um you know Maybe a tailor clone or skitter clone pops out and they're freaking out. you know They're fighting it. Weld is fighting. You do all that kind of stuff for a few minutes. Tattletale mentions that they've got to pull them out, that they're not actually dead. Weld gets the bright idea and goes charging towards Echidna.

Speaker: And then you can cut to essentially a, um, you know, what's his name, um, versus a Mysterio versus Spider -Man, right? yeah yeah No way home and doing the whole like Mysterio psychological attack. Like that's what I'm imagining, right? just like Yeah. That's also what I was imagining. The all black room to all white room to write falling through nothingness and smoke and and mirrors and fears and all this kind of stuff.

Speaker: and then I was thinking to stretch it it even further. like I think if we are doing this as two episodes for you know this, we'll just say, I think that Taylor is you know brought out at the end of the episode. That is the climax of the first episode, is Taylor getting rescued by Weld. And I think you have a lot of the the cauldron bullshit between Miss Militia tattletale and weld just not have Taylor there. And instead have weld be your sort of point of view character where he's been interested in this because we've been playing detective weld. He's been interested in this maybe, and this would also be a great time. We know that tattletale has hired, uh, um, yeah, yeah. Fault lines crew.

Speaker: And they've also been investigating. So when they show up and they hear it mentioned and they have questions and they finally meet up with weld to compare notes with them and tattletale. And all of a sudden malicious like shut the fuck up. Like, you know, a well, you know, does his moment where he's like,

Speaker: No, I want to hear this. Like Gully, you know, stands over is like, no, I don't, I'm not being sent away. I want to hear why I'm, why I am the way I am. And weld also goes, yeah, I want to know why. bra I think that's a great moment for weld to be the inquisitor there, asking what the hell's going on. And then, you know, ultimately, Hey, I'll tell you everything. titletletaille I'll tell you everything. We just need to get Taylor out first. He's like,

Speaker: I'm gonna hold you to that and then I can drag her out. um Especially since the moment would be like, hey, you weld are uniquely inhuman enough that she cannot affect you. yeah What happened to you was a tragedy. And you remember that you have been using it to be a hero. Now is the time to use that. you know What has happened to you that's traumatic as a heroic thing.

Speaker: So, right. I think that would go well thematically if we did a season or an episode like that as well. Yeah. Yeah. So just kind of, just kind of restructuring, moving some of that, the cauldron stuff a little bit earlier, um, or or rather delaying Taylor's ah release until after that. Um, yeah, no, I think, I think that's good. And especially if you're keeping Dinah around because you know, you could even, you could even have Dinah just give like a little a subtle, like, you know, uh, they're, they're all arguing, they're rushing down as like the numbers are going down, like success, all this kind of stuff. And then, you know, she could even be the one to be like, we need to get Taylor out. Yeah. You know, all these little things, there's a lot of, a lot of little things you could do there to, um, to kind of keep the action going. If you're going to keep Taylor trapped for a little bit longer. Cause we could still start the second episode with them pulling her out.

Speaker: ah You know, the ever say they've pulled her out, but in the second episode, start with them getting her help. And then, you know, we start with the scapegoat scene. Of course, I think that's great. Uh, you know, we do a lot of stuff. Um, another thing that I think would be interesting to retcon and switch up is two things. Weld was, correct me if I'm wrong, originally from the Chicago wards. Yeah.

Speaker: He, the PRT director at Chicago. Well, well it's not from cause Chicago is, um, Oh, no, wait. Yeah. I think you're right. I think you're sorry. I believe he's from Chicago wards. yeah His, the PRT director there is his like adoptive father. Um, when they found him, he basically raised him and, you know, brought him up on the team as well. So like,

Speaker: He's a very deep connection with, I think he's from Chicago, Boston. Is it the Boston awards? It might be the Boston awards. Yeah, Boston awards. Okay. Because Chicago is the other team that we meet with Tekton. Tekton is Chicago. Cause Weld was there for the - Yeah, he's got a Boston accent. Yeah, he's got a Boston accent. God. Oh, Weld's got a Boston accent. A noticeable Boston accent. This is going to change everything.

Speaker: No, no, no, no. You know, I hate the Boston exits. Well, just took us in my mind. You shouldn't have brought up where he's from. This is your fault. Damn it. You know what? No, because we can fix this. He's from Chicago.

Speaker: make um chicago rightcon it Oh, that's so funny. We interrupt our scheduled program to bring you a word from our sponsor, Zencaster, a one -stop shop for all your podcasting needs. And now back to our scheduled programming in the end. I'm joking a little bit in seriousness. We, we streamline a lot of this. Uh, we, you know, we'll say, you know, he's from cause here's what I was thinking. I was like, well, let's just make him For the sake of this thing, he's from Chicago. Okay. The PRT director there that raised him is also from Chicago, you know, is the Chicago PRT director. And the head of the heroes there for the sake of this thing is legend. not murder Legend is always seen as we've you know watched from the kid wind thing, like interlude, like

Speaker: While he is obviously dirty, he's a really like heroic hero. like He's very good at encouraging people, at at being there for them, yada, yada. What if we made him the hero there? Because he definitely seems like he would be very good with the wards as well. like Again, Murdin's there, and clearly, Murdin is doing something right. I don't mean to steal that from him, but let's just switch those out. I think they would also be a functional team under Legend.

Speaker: um What if legend was a mentor as well to weld super heroic. He was there the whole time. He helped weld, figure out what leadership meant. He's always been there because I think if we've had that said early on, and since legend has been hanging around, we have a couple of conversations throughout the last two seasons between weld and legend when

Speaker: Turns out that legend has known this whole time. What a kick in the metal balls.

Speaker: um True. And I think it would be even better if we have, you know, cause legend's a very guilty person. Yeah. Like we put together one of those things where like legend has maybe kind of been mentoring the shit out of him because he feels guilty for being a part of it.

Speaker: Yeah. ah good I don't, I don't, I don't hate that. I don't, i I'm, I'm, I'm worried of doing too much, but I do like, I do like giving a bit more to that. However, I would, I would almost rather do that with Mirrodin because Mirrodin, this is, this is, we always going to bring this up anyway. Um, Mirrodin is a bit of a problem for us.

Speaker: because he arrives for the first time pretty much in this season. He's in the legend fight, but in the background. I'm sorry, in the, um i and find yeah, but in the background.

Speaker: He arrives in the season. He's got all the makings of a classic one season hero that dies at the end. Like that's just, he's the trope, right? But yeah at risk of, of, you know, losing the impact of his death, which is very impactful in universe. And you want that to be felt to the audience. Uh, there's really no connection that he has with anybody and at all when you're reading the story. So,

Speaker: I would, I would take what you're saying and just make it Mirden, give him that conflict. Mirden knew because good chance that we could check on this. I'm pretty sure Mirden probably knew about Coltrane. I was going to say, I'm pretty sure he's the one like, cause Mirden's the one that is the strongest, but not on the team, right? Right. like he's that He's not part, he's not the, he's not in the triumvirate. He's not yeah part of that. And I think that's why is he's not part of the,

Speaker: Well, it's not part of the crew. And this is maybe all I got to check on this myself, but I think a a lot of, I think a lot of heroes know what cauldron is roughly, but they're not, but they're like, not all, like, I mean, cause battery obviously knows what cauldron is, but doesn't necessarily know all the dark, dirty secrets. And and she was just a ah regular protector at Cape. So like,

Speaker: I think there's this idea that a lot of the heroes, to some extent, understand what Cauldron is, but sort of turn a blind eye, turn a blind eye kind of thing. um Regardless, if if we're retconning a little bit, then this doesn't really matter. You're just giving Mirrodin that role so that you can establish that conflict, but then also you give ah you take away any potential resolution of that conflict, which one helps us, because we don't have to worry about retconning anything later.

Speaker: um But two is really is kind of really ah strong character moments because Weld now is stuck wrestling with everything he was taught without any way of resolving that conflict with that person, which is harsh, but sort of fits the world a bit.

Speaker: but only My only issue with with with changing it too much and bringing legend into all of that, not that I'm against it, I think there's i think there's a lot you could work with there, is that it it just it just opens the doors. ah In my mind, I'm a little too hesitant to retcon anything that could have deeper implications down the line um without having a totally good memory of what comes next. ah But I do like the idea of of giving Weld a more personal tie to the Cauldron ah ah reveal, if you will. I think that would help his character a lot. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Yeah, I did feel like ah can you know trying to make things more concise in terms of a lot of things and tying them together, not in a neat package necessarily, but you know streamline it a little bit.

Speaker: do Yeah. Uh, yeah. Um, Oh yeah. Yeah. ah We, you know, they mentioned the thing like, Oh yeah. All the cauldron money went into, uh, and bring a recovery. Uh, I mentioned it on the other one that like, Oh, is that where coil got all his money? right We could maybe more explicitly like make that a thing. We're like, hattletail blurts out like, yeah, like,

Speaker: Coyle didn't make all that money just because he was smart. Like he was smart and he knew people. Like, you know, look at Brockton Bay. Brockton Bay is on the bounce back because Cauldron has been investing here through Coyle. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: Uh, so the money does get to recovery. It just goes the long way around. It's fun that. Yeah. The support and the help goes through coil, like governments so supporting coil essentially. Yeah. Um, there's a fun moment where they do the, uh, weld Atlas and skitter are like surrounded and they do the whole, you know, back to back to back.

Speaker: And then start fighting. ah

Speaker: You know, honestly, I don' don't really think we need an Atlas there, but like weld and skitter. And I'm trying to think of who who, did we have a third sort of protagonist? Uh, no, no, no, like in general, like who else have we been following? Cause mostly we've just put like weld and, um, yeah, I mean, take your pick. You can have.

Speaker: you know, you could have a couple of people there that fills in pretty easily. But I'm thinking like it would, this would be, this, this is our sundown moment where we've finally brought, you know, all the, the three heroes, ah you know, are the three protagonists of our story together, you know, cause weld has not really interacted with Taylor and you know, now they finally all to come together. And for the first time, all three of them are in the same room or something like that.

Speaker: You know, working together, it's the back to back to back and then they fight. Um, I don't know who or other person. No, I know. That's a little cliche. It's a little bit cheesy. I get it, but also it, it feels good watching those for a reason.

Speaker: And this is a great moment for it to naturally occur. i was I think this already just happens naturally in the story though. I mean, Clockblock and Taylor get a get a ah cool ass moment. Weld and Taylor get him get a moment. him I guess we just have Weld and Taylor back to back. I don't know why I wanted three for some reason. Maybe because three is a magic number. No, and um honestly, two works because they're on two sides of the of the of the battle lines. You know what? That's fair.

Speaker: Yeah. I think that they are, they are going back and forth on their loyalties sort of at this moment. Like, you know, this is the catalyst for him to leave. And this is sort of the catalyst for her to leave pretty soon too. Yeah. um Yeah. No, I like that. I think that works well. I think, I think that plays. Yeah. If you're going to do it, I think it would just be those two. I think that works. Yeah. um I think as we move further along,

Speaker: Another thing to retcon, just for this season, I say retcon, we haven't written it yet, but just for this season, I think that Taylor and Tattletail need to have more conversations in this season about saving Brockton Bay and what that means. Because it kind of feels like out of nowhere, Tattletail has whipped together this plan to economically save Brockton Bay and also all of their problems at the same time with this portal, when this would have been a good lead up of like, Hey, like Taylor, I know that Brockton Bay's, especially if she goes like, Hey, how important is Brockton Bay to you? And Taylor's like, it's the, you know, the city as a character is why I'm doing this. Like, I want to save the city when we, you know, we went to coil, I see, you know,

Speaker: Lisa could also say that like when you went to coil, like you said you wanted to save the city. Like, what what do you mean? Like, you know, she's like, I want the ferry up and running. I want this, I want that. You know, I want it to be a safe place for my dad to walk down the street. And, and tattletale takes that to heart. And, you know, has her still her breakdown at the end, but like, essentially you'd you have her struggling with that kind of in between scenes.

Speaker: As she's like Taylor, like, you know, ah she keeps coming to her and it's like, you know, feeling out like, Hey, like I'm going to need to do this. This is part of a big plan. Just trust me. And then ultimately, you know, it pays off, but I think having a few more talks with Taylor before. And yeah, like, like Tatl doesn't, Tatl does do things for Tatl tail self, but Taylor's a her, you know, I'm just gonna say it. Taylor's her best friend and yeah um she feels useless a lot of the time ah because her power should be useful all of the time. And, but in this macro scale, she feels like, Oh, like Taylor doesn't really need me. And I do have this desire to kind of have

Speaker: direction in my life in other people. So, you know, let me do this for you essentially. yeah um So I think having just a few more talks beforehand that are kind of helping Tattletail calculate what she wants to do um just before this couple of episodes would be ah a good thing to do. Yeah, I think that's fine. I think that makes sense.

Speaker: I also think when you do some work on her or talk, um, you know, I love our Lisa talk, but we, it just needs to get a bit of a change up. I think in terms of, you know, since we were already talked about spreading, you know, some of that out, maybe some of this talk gets moved to other locations. Um, but we still have a good big moment at the end. We're like, yeah, Taylor, like I did this.

Speaker: It's like, I need direction. And, you know, kind of finally just explains what she's been asking this whole time. Okay. Yeah.

Speaker: Do you have any other, and yeah, I was going to say any other, any other changes within this arc? the a i have ah an idea for future stuff that um would be really interesting.

Speaker: All right. All right. For the time. you know So, so as we move forward, sort of to the time skip, uh, it was really far ahead. I was just thinking what if we did. Okay. Now hear me out. Two of our heroes. Uh, one of which is very questionable on his origin. Uh, defiant and dragon pull together a team of X villains.

Speaker: who want to be heroes. They they do their little bakuta bomb in the brain because we have that technology and we've stolen that and we can make it smaller because defiant and we put it in their heads so that the, you know, we can blow them up. And then all of them go off on a happy slaughterhouse nine hunting spree. We'll call it the the kill yourself crew or, you know,

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. No, no relation to other properties. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I, I think, uh, I've even got at least three people that we could do for this. We've got obviously skitter, you know, as one of these Theo, right? You know, and, uh, scrub naturally three different, uh, gangs.

Speaker: all three of which could very easily be on board with this. And it's essentially your evil, like your Thunderbolt wards under the guide of defining dragon, which is kind of what happens to skitter anyway, like, um, and potentially you scrap, ah you know, obviously there's a big, big change, but like potentially you scrap the, uh, the sh like,

Speaker: Taylor transferring to Chicago and just have her be on this slaughterhouse nine kill crew. Yeah, that would, uh, that would be a change. That'd be a big one. You know, maybe, maybe you still have like that moment, but I think this would be the great lead in where like, Hey guys, that timers coming up and we're still no closer to getting him like to getting Jack. We're putting together this team.

Speaker: And it's a bunch of, you know, it's a bunch of ex -villains who have deadly powers and or a specific vendetta against Jack. Like Theo's not exactly the greatest powers, but... is He volunteers his tribute. He volunteers his tribute and we know maybe from Dinah that he's kind of like crucial to doing that. Yeah. Scrub. I mean, if he can get his, you know,

Speaker: Get, you know, a scrub on that dude's head. He's, he's done for like, I don't care what he's pretty powerful you know dimension. He's transplanting him to he's done. So like scrub is brought on to like, take him out as well. And then skitter knows Jack, like feels like she knows Jack pretty well and is, you know, very compliant into helping, you know, Theo and defiant and dragon like maybe defiant.

Speaker: You know, this would this is specifically like Defiant recruits are just like, Hey, you said you remember way back on our first day when we first met, you know, you wanted to be a hero. Like now's the time to kind of do that. And we've got to go all out, which I know you have experience in. Cause you've kicked my ass six ways to Sunday back when I was a hero. like right Right. And I mean, and like I said, and Defiant's kind of already a dirty cop anyway, like,

Speaker: in a weird sense, like he is sort of rogue because he's hiding his identity, pretending to be this hero. Yeah, keep it, put a pin in it. Well, let's come back there. I think we're gonna have - We'll see if it flows into it more naturally. But I was thinking about that in terms of like, oh yeah, we have all these ex -villains hanging around. Why not do that? We've done all of sort of the other tropes If we were going to lean into one, this is one I think you could have. And and once again, you could sneak this right by people until the last moment and where you're like, oh, wait, yeah, this is suicide squad. It's like, ah yeah, but it's good. Right.

Speaker: See, the giveaway would be would would be we don't kill Piggot and we just bring Viola Davis to lead another suicide. Oh my God. Bring it back. Defying the dragon. You have 48 hours to kill Jack Slash. If you don't, I will detonate all the bombs and all of your brains. Yeah, keep with that it. will We'll have a few different time skip ideas.

Speaker: um'm I'm leaning into no time skip altogether, but we'll we'll get there. No, I don't think I don't think the skip itself should happen. I think yeah number one, because all of this, we're at what week two in the story. Yeah, right. Yeah. This is like the second week of Taylor being a villain. So ah pretty much um mean dont all serious second month. Yeah.

Speaker: and know Well, I was gonna say, in all serious, I think we're still less than six months from the start of the story, aren't we? We are, well because she ah the the story starts in April, and then about a month later, she fights Leviathan. Like, that's supposed to all be within a month. And then, after Leviathan, I think it's implied that it's like...

Speaker: into the summer when the slaughterhouse nine hit that kind of thing, but not that much later. Like I still think we are, ah the the only thing that kind of throws us off is that the school.

Speaker: is ever like all schools been canceled, but they're still like, they're trying to get kids back in school. So like maybe we're into early fall or something like that. I'm sure there's a timeline out there. We're speculating. I'm sure it's all been broken down already. But yeah, regardless, I think it's, I think we're still within the first six month period. Like it's not a lot of time that's passed, but uh, yeah, yeah. yeah lot to think i would I would stretch this over.

Speaker: I would stretch almost all of this over two years. We start the story with Taylor at 16 by the time she hits, you know, or we could do later by the time she hits, you know, the time skip what we would normally have. We just have her turn 18. And that's why she's like,

Speaker: allowed to go over there anyway. Yeah. Yeah. We've, we've kind of danced around that a little bit. And I i guess we'll probably circle back into when we get to the actual time skip and we're, we're talking more in depth here. um I think it probably makes sense to just you one, you don't really mention Taylor's age. You never really mentioned a high schooler's age unless it's really, really important to the story um with Taylor. It's, it's not. And I think you just assume that she's a high school junior or senior at the beginning of the story.

Speaker: because odds are your actress playing her is going to be that old or older. So it's probably just going to look that old anyway. um And then, you know, you you're you' not locked in any any sort of ah necessary time skip at that point, because you can just stay the same age if you wanted her to. um But yeah, but okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I like the idea. Put a pin in it. We'll come back. Time skip ideas. We're going to need a lot of them. We'll probably put out a ah question. I think on on Reddit might make sense to ask and and Patreon, of course, and, and get some ideas for the time skip. Cause that's universally one of the weaker parts of the story for most readers. So it'd be fun to get some ideas from people and, and see what, what other people think should, should cover or replace that.

Speaker: ah yeah you know which is why Maybe I'll change my time my my opinion this time, but I know that a ton of people don't like this time skip. It's my favorite part. like Great. We'll get to it. I can't wait. It's fun to talk about. I don't hate it. I don't think it's necessary. It kind of throws me off a little bit, but I don't i don't hate it. it's It works better. it It works much better reading it than I think it would watching it.

Speaker: I think time skips and shows are really, really hard to pull off. And I've got some thoughts that I'm going to save for that portion. Cause I've been thinking about that for a minute. Yeah. Also it is two months by the time we hit ah the end of the, um, yeah, no, it's two months. We are still in the second month. Oh my gosh. So then, yeah, the school test would be like the end of the year, not the beginning. Yeah. So you're still in spring.

Speaker: not even hit somewhere yet, but what you did say, I want to wrap this, I want to tie this back into arc 19 because we haven't talked about the interludes yet. Not much to talk about, but I did want to touch on them. Um, the blasto interlude, I think Obviously it just works well wherever you're whenever we're we're cutting to Defiant and dragon, you know, we're throwing this interlude in at some point ah down the line Especially if we are going to be cutting to them at any point this season Have a couple other scenes of them fighting and then you know the blast of scene might be the capstone of their little story fast season ah i Yeah, I think

Speaker: If we're talking about, I don't think we show this from blastos perspective. I think we show this um from, defiant from Defiant and Dragon hunting them down. and persona You know, them having a little tease at the end of the season, being like, we're going to need to like get more help. Like we can't just keep doing this us too. Yeah. Great lead into the next season. um I think, I think also this is a great, you know, chance we've seen Accord at least twice, you know,

Speaker: ah Now, so we've had introduction to him moving into the next season as well. Well, we wouldn't see him here if the scene is from Defiant's perspective. Yeah. ah Yeah. I think we could still introduce like him being like shown the lab essentially and being brought down. And then we move away to Defiant hunting down and then busting into the lab or finding them, you know, killing everybody in the accord house and stuff like that. Um, like we could show him on his own, but almost from a court's perspective, maybe. Yeah, it's tricky. A court is a perfect example of just so many characters in worm. And I know he has a role to play, but does he, I was going to, I, I'm drawing a blank.

Speaker: And, uh, here's, here's my problem with what we're going to, our new problem, our new problem that we've invented is the, um, the next arc is what I like to call the grab bag arc where while it's really fun, if I remember right, no, no, hold on. No, next arcs, the outing arc, which I liked, but if I remember right, it's really, it's gotta be really short then.

Speaker: thanks are The next arc, so arc 21 is the one that is just like, how ah we're in charge of you know the whole city. How do we deal with all of these other motherfuckers? Cause you've got the new PRT director who's a little bitch. You've got the fallen cult that shows up and they're also bitches. Then you have a cord show up and he won't stop bitching.

Speaker: and like they have to deal with all of them. Oh, oh. And then they bring in Butcher. Somebody brings in Butcher. Or does Butcher just show up? I can't even remember. I thought Butcher showed up, but it's been a minute. I have to re -remind myself. Yeah. So they basically have to run all of these people out of town. But like, that's, I don't know how many chapters are in that, but that's like one gang per two chapters. Like, it's a lot. Yeah. so in In my head, I'm just like, okay, we either need to spray, you know, we either need to get rid of some people, a cord, or we, you know, I don't know. Like this, it's going to be a very, a lot of things going on that are new. And I don't think are really going to feel cohesive if we haven't introduced them before.

Speaker: This is why like way back in the day I was considering like, can we just make the merchants the fallen? e Like right I'm okay rewriting. they They don't show up that often, but I think if we rewrote them and re -skinned them just a bit to make them with a slightly more religious culty bent, I think they would play really well for like, oh, it's the Leviathan cult members who like,

Speaker: Leviathan has blessed us by setting things back. And now like the strong survive and take what they want. Like that sounds perfect. Like basically no change. Everybody is still a piece of shit. They just have like a more religious bent to them because they're cultists.

Speaker: um

Speaker: And then you have like, Oh, you know, a fallen head shows up and he's like, Hey, ah you took out my, my inbred cousin. Mm -hmm. we Nobody liked him, but you did, you know, you did kill him. So we're demanding, you know, reparations for that. And she's like, the fuck you are. I didn't kill him either. That was the slaughterhouse nine. And he's like, well, you're in charge of the city. And it happened on your watch. And she's like, Jesus, you know.

Speaker: yeah I mean, I'm always in favor of simplicity for television shows. And not to mean that you don't... I'm condensed. Yeah, not that you're dumbing it down, but that you are making it easier to follow.

Speaker: And again, I think it sounds like a broken record, but you look, you look to the Titans that have done this before. I think the first four seasons of Game of Thrones do this phenomenally well um where you're really not following that many characters feels like it because there's a lot of characters that are part of the show, but you're only following like three or four plot lines. Like that's it. um And most are and and independent of each other.

Speaker: And there's just a lot of characters that are a part of those plot lines. There's a lot of side characters that the only role is to ah you know aid to the to the other character's story. like they don't Not every character needs an arc. right So you know you the the truth is, like people watching a show are going to differentiate between all six of the minor gangs that they have in the background. There's just going to be like, oh, they're gang members. It doesn't really matter where they're from, that kind of thing. um Yeah. And I think with characters like Accord in particular, Accord, and again, I feel like I have to say this all the time. I can't remember everything I've read after this point. So take what I say with a greatest hand, I might change my mind, but Accord,

Speaker: is such a minor character. He's cool as hell. I love Accord. He's a really cool character. He's such a, I know, I guess we're both neat freaks and have attention for details. But he's such a minor character in the story. His impact is very minimal. It's something you can easily just remove altogether or give to another character. And it strongly helps the pacing of a show where you don't have to teach an audience a whole new face ah just for the sake of ah ah you know world building. And I'll give an example with Game of Thrones here where i where I actually, in early seasons, maybe one of my critiques is, and I forget the character's name,

Speaker: But there is a, the character that's the follower of ah sungo you see my alliance of the brotherhood of the the the brotherhood of the son or something like that. Who can get brought back to life again and again and again. yeah right oh yeah dare say The drunk priest brings him back to life. Yeah. It's the rebel leader, dude. Right. Whatever his name is. Cool ass character.

Speaker: love his character. Um, he adds very, very little to the show apart from about one scene where he has a conversation with, um, uh, I guess it's, I guess who's it gotta to be at that point. Is it Aria? No, or the hound. I mean, he, you know, he interacts with Aria and, uh, I want to say a couple others, right? i mean directions yeah But in terms of honestly,

Speaker: He is little more than a plot device to show off ah exactly the God of lights power through the witch. Like, right. If you never gotten rid of her or gotten rid of him and replaced him with the witch lady instead.

Speaker: Like that would have felt, I mean, that's basically what he was. And I think that should have happened because another another complaint with Game of Thrones is that Melisandre feels a little underdeveloped, which I completely agree with. She's got that really cool reveal in season four or five where she's like, oh, she's super old. And you're like, where the hell did that come from? Like there's just moments there where you can see there is just a bit too much bloating of character.

Speaker: and it takes away from your ability to really get invested into what you're watching. Now, of course, when you are reading the story, none of that's there. It's fine. You can throw a thousand characters out and you just absorb the information differently. So I think i think we need to think about that with Worm a lot too. is There's a lot of characters that are really, really cool and add to a lot of the world building of the story, but really do slow down the pacing and the ability to absorb information. And I think a chord sort of fits that. Like I think for the Blasto interlude here to kind of keep it in with Arc 19, it just doesn't make sense to have them anywhere near that scene. If you're going to show it, like you said, you're showing it from from Defiance perspective.

Speaker: He's chasing down a lead, he busts into a lab, and you know he's fighting Bonesaw and Blasto. And like honestly, if you're showing that scene, you have no idea who Blasto is. This is a random lab that Bonesaw was in.

Speaker: just, you know, you can fill in the blanks in your mind at who this, who this weird scientist is with his vats and what bone saw is doing with her spine down his throat. Like, you know, it doesn't, eat you're not even going to think about that. It's, it's almost too much to have that in there. It's a little confusing. So I think you just sort of simplify that kind of stuff and just, and just do away with the cord, do away with, uh,

Speaker: you know, little moments like that. And again, I know the hardcore worm fans are going to be upset at stuff like this. Listen, Alan and I have talked. We already agree with you. The best version of this story is the web serial. That is already the best version of worm.

Speaker: We're not improving on that. We're having fun trying to adapt this story for a different medium that we already agree will inherently be worse than the web serial. like It's just the way it is. The serial is already fantastic. it's It's too good. We're not really trying to improve anything here. We're trying to talk about Like, how do you take this epic of a story and condense it for television? It's just a monumental task and gives you all these little little bits of moments like this where you're really trying to figure out how do you condense the story? one One little test I want to do, and I want to do this with Nick and Hannah too, so maybe i'll maybe I'll save this for the recap or the end recap. It's like, forget seasons, try to condense Worm into a three -film trilogy.

Speaker: What stays and what gets cut? What is truly important in the overarching narrative of the story? And how do you tell that in six hours, three films?

Speaker: You know, I would literally do Leviathan slaughterhouse nine, uh, and scion. finally yeah Yeah. Like that's probably, that's probably a three. Right. yeah And though, and I'm like from there, but it's a good exercise. Cause like, okay, so there's your important moments. How do you build out a couple hours around that?

Speaker: to to make everything fit. And then from there, you know you can build out and out and now. But I think that's kind of helpful in thinking like, what's really important here? How do we how do we convey this crazy cool world with these crazy cool characters and make it interesting and make it exciting and and you know keep everybody engaged and and give ah give a show that an audience is going to want to tune back into?

Speaker: You know, I think we've touched, I think you touched really well on early on with some of these problems with this season and it just being rushed. I think that's a really big problem. So yeah, we got a lot of these little issues that, uh, that pop up and ah cutting characters is just going to be a big part of that. Unfortunately, I wonder how this would have gone if we'd done it sort of, like you said, in reverse, where like we cut three movies.

Speaker: and then expand from those three movies rather than contract from the serial. It'd be a fun thing to do. I think that'd be fun to do at the very, very end when we're done is sort of reverse our whole script. And I think it would have provided a cleaner story, honestly, if we did that. Hey, never too late. We'll do that. Maybe we'll do that little Patreon episode. We'll do a little one off, little 20 minutes.

Speaker: Talk about a 20 minutes. ah Yeah. Just a quick, just a quick in and out adventure, you know? Yeah. No, I mean, maybe, maybe per movie. Yeah. That'd be fun. We should, we we should do it. It'd be, it'd be a fun challenge. Hell yeah. One movie. You got to tell worm in one movie, two and a half hours max, you know, can, can it be done? We'll find out. Find out. Join us. Talk to BBC.

Speaker: Uh, the, I had one last thing I wanted to say about arc 19, which is, um, well, there's a few things I could say, but one thing I really wanted to say, um, the final interlude with Emma to me is a beautiful final scene of the season.

Speaker: It is a beautiful, you end on Sophia's monologue done like, you know, a distant voice out of the cell phone. You do it showing clips of Brockton Bay, showing the wards, showing the undersiders. And you end that scene with a little montage with Emma driving past Taylor's house, seeing Taylor with Sophia going, you know, and the strong survive or however her, her little warding goes. Yeah.

Speaker: um yeah And that just, and you just cut on like Taylor looking out, just looking super strong, super confident. Just such a, such a, such growth from where we started with her. Yeah. I don't know. It just, and like to me, it's like a beautiful, beautiful end to the season. Yeah. No, I think that's, that's a really good spot to end on.

Speaker: Uh, those are my big things. Uh, any, any other things with actually 19 that you wanted to review?

Speaker: Nope. and that they We went over everything. nice Yeah. We didn't talk much about, I mean, again, I, I, there's a lot in here that I don't want to change. I obviously, we want to keep the portal. You got to keep all that travelers going back. I didn't really talk too much about Sundancer. I really liked Sundancer's character arc. Um, something we could build on a little bit.

Speaker: I think her final moment killing Noelle needs to be really impactful. Yeah. Yeah. Honestly, if we made her our third like little mini protagonist. Yeah. Yeah. I think she should get a bit more screen time, just to sort of aid that final moment at the very least, like her and ballistic make our, our, like, cause we really, I feel like they get kind of the most attention other than obviously.

Speaker: trickster who, yeah you know, fuck him. um i And honestly, if you want to make a little change, I think maybe you add ballistic to that final kill with Sundancer. Like he's, he's pinning her down, throwing cars or whatever he can touch at her ah while, you know, Sundancer forms her son and just make it a little combo thing so that it's the, it's the travelers together that are, that are taking her down to what's left of the travelers, you know, throw Genesis in there, you know,

Speaker: Just kind of make it a little, a little team effort. and Yeah, that's good. All right. and ah This is how you, this is how you tell it in one. you You do the whole worm story, except you do it from probably like legend's point of view or or legend, or I would do maybe even Defiance.

Speaker: um you you like You start off with them kind of getting screwed over by the the one minor hero. This is still keeping in mind that like Taylor is doing her own thing and whatnot. You have them come into conflict, both they know that Cauldron is going on and they are sort of conflicted about it.

Speaker: But ultimately the thing is like Cauldron being the one saying we're doing whatever it takes because we know that the end of times is coming. Ultimately, they aren't able, at the midway point through the movie, they aren't able to stop Jack from getting to Sion. Sion goes off. The rest of the movie is them trying to stop it, having this young character that they keep interacting with.

Speaker: kind of talk of like, you know, talk about hearing them talk about cauldron and how they had to make sacrifices and doing whatever it takes. And sometimes that means sacrificing a part of yourself ultimately to have bone saw do the thing and then, um, sacrifice everybody's part of themself basically to fight sign. So like, I think that would be a great, uh, a great depiction is if you just had essentially just have arms master be a part of cauldron.

Speaker: and And maybe the slaughterhouse nine will down to just Jack slash and um like no, lava actually you can probably so just sweep the end bringers. The end bringers are not a thing. um We just have them fight the slaughterhouse nine to this at the beginning.

Speaker: um And then sign at the end. That is how you do one movie. And I think you could do that in two and a half hours. That'd be fun to see. i want to see what are What are your thoughts? Throwing it out to all of our listeners, everybody. How would you condense worm into a single two and a half hour film? What kind of blasphemous monstrosity can you create for this story? Let us know. Leave us a comment.

Speaker: oh got a yeah this has been This has been a ah little ah tricky ah tricky season, a couple tricky arcs trying to figure out where everything is placed. A lot of room for change. I'm not even sold on half our ideas. We didn't even talk about the fact that I i think the more we've done it, I think we we we talked about delaying the the coil death. I think we keep it where it is now. I've gone back and forth so many times.

Speaker: Uh, I think we just need to, uh, uh, yeah, I think the lead up to it needs to be a bit better, like we've talked about. Um, but yeah, I have also come back around to that. I think, I think the coil death is good. I think it makes a good midpoint, but that's just it. We got to, we've got to make it a good, it's one of those things we've talked about with Hannah. If you make a promise to your readers, you have to.

Speaker: fulfill to make good on that promise. And if you are doing a bait and switch of some kind, you have to make it worth it. Yeah. yeah And yeah,

Speaker: yeah well, I do think the echidna fight is a great event to happen, I don't know if that's a good enough substitute for outright having, we've gotten rid of our coil espionage guy in favor of a monster fight. um That is, that is my, has always sort of been part of my hesitation. While the timing is part of it, the other part is, is that substitute

Speaker: a good, uh, a good switch to have when it comes to fulfilling the expectations that we have set for readers previously. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Make the promise you have to deliver. Yeah. That is tricky. yeah yep So let us know what do you think about coil, about Enkidna, about season three, about team ups, all this kind of stuff. Dinah, we got a whole mess here. Stick around for now. Oh yeah. I'm more likely to listen to you if you are one of our patrons.

Speaker: o

Speaker: Good call out, it's a call out. It's true. and then On one hand, your opinion could be trash, but on the other hand, It could be gold. if you I mean, if, if you're a patron, I'll tell you right now, we, and we have a few now at this point, we are reading every comment. We are engaging. Uh, we love our patrons. They mean the world to us. They really show us that, uh, we're not just a bunch of idiots that are ah had making each other laugh, even though I'd be happy with that, honestly. yeah Um,

Speaker: But no, it really does mean a lot. And we do, we do really value your input, your feedback, your comments. We love that. So if you haven't already, check out our Patreon. We've got lots of options. And if you feel like you're like doing an extra dollar or two, we've got a few cool tiers. We still have a few slots of our slaughterhouse nine. That's right. Only eight slots available right now. Only eight slots available. So take advantage while the while the Well, the water's warm. Well, the slaughtering's hot. Yeah. I was trying to try to make a better better and analogy. That's good. um Yeah. But in all seriousness, we keep leaving those comments. We love, we love hearing and from you. We love to engage and read and and we have a lot to think about here.

Speaker: and stick around, like I was saying, for our next episode of Dissecting Worm, which will be out soon, ah for our season three recap, where we are going to be reviewing all of this in detail with Nick and Hannah, hearing it for the first time. um yeah And I'm going to be honest, we're probably still going to be confused about the season. yeah so Unlike you guys who listen week to week, they have no idea what we're talking about on this podcast. So we have to explain everything we've been telling you guys to them and see what they think. It's going to be a fun time. It's going to be a blast. Man, you know what the best part about this is right now? Tell me. I get to read Arc 20 now. We're holding off.

Speaker: I'm champing at the bit. I, I'm foaming at the mouth every time. I'm like, Oh man, I can't wait to read next to you to the next arc. And then I realized like, Oh, we've got, you know, record for another week before we can, uh, read. Yep. Yep. We have made it our 20 next. This is why I was in terrible at reading clubs in school. It just spread ahead.

Speaker: Oh my gosh, because I read it the book in like a day. As Hannah would say, let's go. Oh, perfect. but She's with us in spirit. Yeah. You know, I think that's a good good place to end it on that note. Thank you all for listening. It's been a blast. Stick around. We've got more to come. As always, take that you worms. Play us out.
