Introduction and Correspondents

00:00:00
Speaker
Good evening, Megacity! we are calling on all of you normal-ass humans for help as we're getting stomped out in downtown Megacity.
00:00:15
Speaker
ah But don't worry, we're sending your asses to the Shadow Realm where hopefully you'll pickaxe your way to a new tomorrow. I'm your host, Alan, here with the Brockton Bay Book Club, and I am currently joined...
00:00:29
Speaker
By ah our correspondent in the tent cities, Hannah. Hello there, Alan. Our man in shard space, Jacob.
00:00:40
Speaker
Hello. And reporting live from Earth Chite. Nick. Oh, God, she's gone insane. Please help.
00:00:52
Speaker
Don't worry, we'll put her down later.

Hannah's Return and Role

00:00:54
Speaker
And finally, last but certainly not least, from the Shadow Realm himself, it Michael, our producer. The Shadow Lord. Hello, everyone. What's up?
00:01:06
Speaker
Yes. Yeah, we did. J-Man said he's glad Hannah's alive. and Hi, I am alive. We brought her back as a Valkyrie clone.
00:01:17
Speaker
to fill in for original hannah also i love it just for me to see that so now that i can that's there lose this and it's so glad to have hannah yeah with us in the flesh it's so nice to be back what a weird time to not have been here then i've be watching and not be here it was weird and i didn't like it and i hope i never have to do that again I don't think anybody liked it, Hannah.
00:01:44
Speaker
You know what? It's so validating to know that I am the comedic glue that holds this troop together. Maybe not comedic glue, but some sort of glue. You were definitely sticky and you were sticking us together.
00:01:59
Speaker
There was no one to stop them from their horrible, horrible things they say. it was oh it was bad. No, no, I was going to say, thought it was quite the opposite. We didn't have anybody to please be the straight man for us to, like, say horrible things and get, a like, a really good reaction out of. I'm sorry.
00:02:19
Speaker
It's true. Hannah is our straight man. I'm neither straight nor man. yeah no, you're as straight and as man as the rest of us.
00:02:30
Speaker
And we're already off the rails. don't know if this happened. I passed up the opportunity when Michael was like the shadow lord and I'm like shadow jacker. Neons. But I didn't say that.
00:02:42
Speaker
oh i It's a comedy term. We know. Yeah. that cheese but i didn't just say that it's a comedy term hand you know we know yeah As a bunch of straight white men, we know what a straight man is. So let mansplain. We can't always explain what a straight man is, but you know one when you see one. You know what I mean? Oh, boy, can you? yeah yeah wait
00:03:15
Speaker
Wait! If you know it when you see it, are you saying that when you look at me, you see a straight white man? Whoa, whoa, didn't say anything about white. There's no white involved. Oh, excuse me. Excuse me. Assume. Wow. Sorry.
00:03:33
Speaker
No. I thought our last episode was actually quite tame without you. Actually, yeah it was a lot more boring because no one was there to react. Because... You're right. Exactly. We didn't have somebody to bounce off of our antics, so we just kind of like... I guess... Didn't didn't act out.
00:03:49
Speaker
You know? True.

Patron Acknowledgment and Merchandise

00:03:50
Speaker
True. But now that you're here, ah we can go fucking batshit. Fantastic. Which is exactly what the Titans were doing. But before we get to that, I'd just like to hit special shout out to our patrons. We love you so much. As a special treat for those who've already have seen it, ah we did a game show, a worm game show about all the things we've forgotten called Wormnesia.
00:04:14
Speaker
It's not based on any other game show at all. Legal patent pending. Um... But that being said, that's available only for patrons. And if you're a patron, you can go watch it right now, um which you're not going to do because you're a loyal live watching fan. When you're done here.
00:04:34
Speaker
obviously Obviously, after you're going to it, you're going to go ahead and watch that. um Thank you, Jacob, for sending that to Hannah. That way Hannah can know get educated. um And then ah for those of you who aren't patrons, like, what are you doing?
00:04:50
Speaker
Go ahead, become a patron. Get help. Let's see, what else do we have? We've got merch, which Jacob is sporting right now. A Brockton Bay Book Club t-shirt.
00:05:03
Speaker
So good. um where I'd suggest wearing it around your local library and then being like, you don't even carry this book. wow And then... ah there anything else we need to talk about?
00:05:16
Speaker
No, but we did read, because we had to put it off a week, an entire arc, finally. ah We are doing the entirety Arc 18. Truly wild. We are getting i so close to finishing this podcast.
00:05:34
Speaker
um So, with that, Arc 18, initial thoughts.

Arc 18 Discussion

00:05:42
Speaker
Hannah, you've been away for a while. and Um...
00:05:48
Speaker
Yeah. Wow. Okay. I mean, like, here it is, I guess, you know, i it it's funny comparing things to, to worm. Like you can't, you know, can't read it without comparing it to worm. And I can't help, but like trying to,
00:06:03
Speaker
compare this to like what level of fight we're at you know like is this is this the jack slash fight or is this the scion fight like what where are we at who what's happening are we gotten to kepri yet no not yet but like what where are we and i tried to i don't know i don't know and it's it's i don't know what's happening but it feels like like it we're just here and then we're fighting and then we're not and then we are and then we aren't and and that's Oh, it's a time.
00:06:35
Speaker
and Yeah, yeah. Jacob. yeah Yeah, it's so It's a big one. um It's interesting overall, you know, it does feel like we're just kind of revisiting and bringers, which, you know.
00:06:54
Speaker
I'm not going to blame Wildbow for after 4 million words, maybe kind of running out of a ah few ideas. So that's not, that's not an issue, you know, it's fine. But in terms of like stakes and all that kind of stuff, it it doesn't feel too fresh on that front.
00:07:09
Speaker
It's a neat take on it, but at the same time, it just still feels like, Oh, giant nine vulnerable monsters. So yeah I think that's kind of lost a little bit of its impact. That being said, i did really love the interlude, which we'll get to very interesting interlude. And I'm very curious to see how this whole thing is going to get resolved. It feels like it's leaning towards a very, ah you know, shut off shard space sever connection, all powers and type of thing, which I don't know how I feel if that is where they're going. have We'll see. well We've got a couple arcs. We'll see where that goes. But um fun bites. We'll see. i enjoyed reading it.
00:07:44
Speaker
Good little arc. Nick. Yeah, um it's been a minute since I read the first half of this arc because we were going to do the podcast last week and I had read. i ended up reading far in advance just because of that's how my time worked out.
00:08:01
Speaker
um So I don't I don't remember being super impressed with the first half. I i remember it being kind of like, OK, we're fighting kind of like Jacob said, we're revisiting big nine vulnerable enemies.
00:08:15
Speaker
Um, the second half of those where it does get more interesting because it's the realization of, Oh, the Titans have some level of sentience. Some of them do at least. Maybe we can do something in shard space, right? They're coming up with a plan.
00:08:28
Speaker
I think what concerns me, and I know the last two arcs are very long, but there's the downside of reading this after it's all out because we can kind of look ahead and see, oh you know It's like you get to a book and you realize you're getting close to the climax, but there's only like that much of the book left, and you're like, yeah how are they going to resolve this in a satisfactory way in this amount of time?
00:08:51
Speaker
And i'm I think I'm starting to get concerned it may not get resolved in a satisfactory way. um To an extent, that being said, um i do really like the interlude. a lot of really cool things there.
00:09:07
Speaker
um i
00:09:11
Speaker
I still kind of hold to my devil man cry baby ending where it feels like everything might just blow up with nothing left. And that's kind of how the everything ends.
00:09:23
Speaker
Um, but I actually feel like in a weird way that could be a satisfying ending. So now I'm thinking I'm, I'm starting to add in a secondary option, which is like kind of what Jacob said, the, ah There's an arc in X-Men that is famous. I know nothing about it except the clip where somebody wishes for there to be no more mutants.
00:09:43
Speaker
um I think that's Scarlet Witch maybe who says no more mutants. House of M. House of M, yeah. And so kind of that idea of like they're just going to go into shard space and blow it up and there's no more capes ever again.
00:09:56
Speaker
um And I could see that being an ending too, which I'm not sure I'd find that satisfying, but we'll see how we get there. yeah Well, you know, we just read one of the shortest ones we've had in a while at 85,000 words.
00:10:09
Speaker
ah The next two are going to be like 125,000 and 116,000. So fabulous. Definitely have. Definitely have reading.
00:10:16
Speaker
oh fabulous definitely have
00:10:22
Speaker
we have some um some reading um
00:10:28
Speaker
Yeah, as for me, it was fine. um All of the interesting moments ah I thought were not the action.
00:10:40
Speaker
um who You know, Henzie, just Victoria and talking to people. That's just like, yeah um yeah, reminiscing on some things was pretty fun.
00:10:57
Speaker
um Overall, I'm not like... I'm like slightly nonplussed. I don't have any negative feelings towards it. It's just, you know, it's an arc.
00:11:09
Speaker
Yeah. It is. Is is Alan not enjoying a fight scene on the bingo? It is not on the bingo. I was struggling and it should have been there. I'll make sure to put it there next week. It's basically a free space at this point. Yeah. Not really surprised.
00:11:31
Speaker
ah Yeah, it had it had a couple... and I will say the fight wasn't great. Like, wasn't... phenomenal on paper.
00:11:44
Speaker
Let's put it that way. It's not like a, oh my gosh, what a cool fight scene. This was written so well. However, if this were ever put to screen, this would like specifically big gun Vicky versus ax head is going to be like so hype.
00:12:05
Speaker
Oh my gosh. It would hit so much harder if it weren't written. Yeah. um sure How much did her gun weigh? What was it? ah It's like 14 tons. Yeah, it's something crazy. 14 ton laser gun shaped like an egg with a snout. like And she uses it. She's there.
00:12:26
Speaker
And as we'll talk about, gets like substitution jutsu, like anime, all of a sudden giant monsters behind her, like turns, blasts a golden hole through that thing.
00:12:41
Speaker
Oh my gosh, like what It looks so freaking cool If you're, you know like I said, reading it, not so much yeah Yeah, if you can imagine the anime scene It is cool yeah Well, with that out of the way Let's get into it Nick Yas What shall we start with?
00:13:04
Speaker
I think ah I think we can throw 18, 1, 2 together I think that'll be, well, let's just do 18.1 and then we'll do two and three together, I'll say.
00:13:16
Speaker
um All right. All right. 18.1. Miss Militia talks to Victoria and her about her behavior and her heroism and informs her that there will be consequences for her team's actions.
00:13:27
Speaker
Victoria visits Ashley's apartment on the edge of the cracks.
00:13:33
Speaker
So pretty quick. I do love Miss Militia being like basically like Victoria. We we know what you're up to. Like you're not smooth. We know. Yeah. We we know. Like we have the most intelligent AI that has ever existed on our side. We know what you're up to.
00:13:49
Speaker
but okay how do How did Miss Militia survive? Just be honest. Like, her power is just that she has guns, which we all know are strong. But I mean, i mean, if anything, we've proven that the guns just come in real fucking handy. know.
00:14:08
Speaker
yeah Maybe because she has guns, she's just not frontline. No. i Yeah, I think she's not frontline at all. is Yeah, that may makes sense. Like she's she's always been kind of back of the line tactical support and then also occasionally is like, hey, you need a rocket launcher? I can provide that for you real quick. And that's that's the extent of what she does. It feels like.
00:14:31
Speaker
yeah Yeah, her power is not. Compared to some of the other like high level PRT people, she definitely yeah is not in her rank because of her powers, I would say. Yeah.
00:14:44
Speaker
That makes sense. I mean, unless she can transform and her thing into like a tank or something, maybe she can do that. And we just haven't seen it yet. I don't know. That'd be true. I mean, the the the versatility of the word weapon can be. Yeah. A howitzer.
00:15:01
Speaker
yes How far can we push this? Yeah. she just push It to the has like a B-52 bomber dropping nukes on things. Yeah, you just you just hear burner earn What's that noise? Highway! Just cruise missiles coming in. Oh my gosh. Yeah.
00:15:20
Speaker
hi
00:15:24
Speaker
just maybe crus yeah the american flag scarf of it oh my gosh yeah yeah I do like Miss Militia as a character in terms of what she's done yeah for our characters. I feel like it's funny that there's this parallel where she's been a mentor figure to both Taylor and Victoria now in a weird sort of way.
00:15:45
Speaker
yeah Not like a primary mentor, but just like an occasional like guiding force where it's like, hey, let me put you back on the right path for a second. And I i like that. love that.
00:15:58
Speaker
Yeah, and also, like, her her ah solidifying her forever as a hero in my head of ah her reaching out to Rachel to, you know, at the end of War and, like, try to, i don't know, be on good terms with her. Like, oh, yeah, that's a good that's a good move right there. We like that.
00:16:18
Speaker
she is She is the epitome of, like, one of the good ones, right? Like, she wasn't involved in Baldwin. Yeah. She wasn't, like... good egg She's like a genuinely good person. She's willing to listen to the to the so-called villains when they have good points. You know, like she's she's just one of the overall good ones. Right. I love that you said so-called villains as in basically just like the underside. Taylor, the undersiders is what I mean. Taylor. Yeah.
00:16:48
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I say so-called villains and so-called heroes because like there's very few that are purely calling the other. Yeah, for sure. For sure. Yeah. And J-Man, perhaps a nuclear armed submarine is considered a weapon by some.
00:17:05
Speaker
you know i mean i Although i keep I keep hearing it called like a defense or or um a utility tool of some kind.
00:17:17
Speaker
See, immediately when nuclear-armed submarine comes to mind, and it fits because we're fighting these titans, I'm imagining the scene from the Iron Giant where they're just like, launch the missile now!
00:17:28
Speaker
Where's the giant, Miss Militia? Yeah.
00:17:36
Speaker
in the modern age it just manifests a drone controller and it's right damn yeah
00:17:49
Speaker
um yeah oh oh yes a good question from Fran why are we all in white ah or is this the number boys um you know yeah three Three out of five number boys. Three out of five. three out of my um Which I think Fran just outed themselves as colorblind, so maybe that's one issue. But ah more importantly, Michael got on first. that was like, oh, my polo brother. And then I got on and was also wearing a polo.
00:18:20
Speaker
adapter through this Also, fun fact, ah these short see the short-sleeved collared shirts are not actually polo shirts. Polo shirt is really any of the button-down shirts you have that have the little pit like buttons at the corner hold the collar down while you're riding.
00:18:37
Speaker
no Nerd. that is Nobody cares, but it's just, you know...
00:18:43
Speaker
Alan has become the fashionista. I just have one account on threads that I follow. It's Derek guy, and there's no other reason to follow anyone else.
00:18:57
Speaker
There you go. Love it. Anyways. um Yeah. Bringing it back full circle. ah Miss militia does say like, hey, dragon knows what Kenzie's been up to. We know you've been up to.
00:19:13
Speaker
um There will be consequences. And however, there are also more pressing matters. It's sort of, you know, like you're going to be so grounded after the apocalypse, Victoria. I just want you to know that in advance.
00:19:27
Speaker
Yeah. So help me. I'll turn this apocalypse around. turned this apocalypse around a piece yeah I'm loving the magic mug that Nick has.
00:19:41
Speaker
Hold it up, Nick.
00:19:47
Speaker
every time he drinks it's like invisible it's good fabulous didn't even notice oh yes this is my girl and poe whoa oh oh if you cover your face it'll like completely just go away yeah ah wow okay whoa yeah growlan whoa
00:20:14
Speaker
Anyways, wowie. Yeah, so Victoria recovers her costume and a few other belongings from Ashley's apartment at the edge of the cracks. We kind of get this.
00:20:27
Speaker
I i ah like, again, this is where like a visual media element would be super cool here, like you said, Alan, for the Titan fights where it's like, Going into this like broken and I was just playing Baldur's Gate. So it kind of fits where like you're in this broken dreamy space with like space within space and cracks. And it's like, oh, if I, you know, drop my mug into the crack, it's just gone forever. i got to make sure I'm careful when I'm stepping around.
00:20:53
Speaker
you know, it's this very ethereal, weird space. And I do like that. Imagining what that would be like visually. Yeah, yeah, very neat. yeah I imagine in my head it's very geometric and like never ending neon horizon for some reason. So it's basically like Tron almost. yeah like Like Tron but with like the fractal like groundwork. But still like there's just an infinite horizon of red crystal.
00:21:26
Speaker
Yeah i could see that.
00:21:32
Speaker
Yeah. I'll be honest, I got half a page of notes for this entire arc. so yeah yeah That's alright, we'll keep going. 18.2 and 18.3 I think we can do together.
00:21:46
Speaker
it. Legend briefs everyone on the Titans. Armstrong briefs them on the Cycle. And Victoria briefs them on the Shard Space. Breakthrough, Undersiders, Death Chester, and the Malfunctions prepare to fight a Titan.
00:22:02
Speaker
18.3. The teams relax, chat, and bicker in preparation for the fight. Victoria and Sveta fly to a hillside for a personal conversation. Eve and Oberon attempt to form a connection.
00:22:15
Speaker
And the teams are called to fight.
00:22:19
Speaker
I just gotta say, i think I think the issue that I have with the Titan fight is what i the one I wanted to bring up here. is there's just too many dang Titans and I don't know...
00:22:33
Speaker
how to keep track of them all because there's so many. And on top of that, we've also got Amy's giants that she's made that are involved. yeah And it's just like, I'm getting like, I think that's my issue is I'm just like, it's interesting, but there's so, there's too many interesting things to focus on. And I don't know yeah what I need to remember. So like, they're like, Oh no, Titan. So-and-so is here. And I'm like,
00:22:58
Speaker
Who? like Am I supposed to remember what this one does? like at Yeah. I'll be honest. The only two that I remember is Eve. Eve is easy. because And Arachne.
00:23:12
Speaker
Because the visual is there. And I guess Fortuna as well. But other than that, I'm like, i i fuck if I know. i and yeah I remember Oberon only because that's the one that they're involved with mostly Eve and Oberon.
00:23:27
Speaker
um Yeah. and so Remind me again. who op oberon is Oberon is the moose prancer. Yep. Oh, see? Yeah.
00:23:39
Speaker
And then Ophion is Mr. Bao. ah Yes. And then then who is Scotty? Yeah. Oh, Scotty is Axehead. Scotty is active. Which I think of all of them has like the most, and me because they interact with it so much, has them one of the most immediate and coolest powers, which is just, yes, Hannah.
00:24:02
Speaker
Can I look up fan art, please? Sure. Am I like spoilers? I'm trying to not. i mean, honestly, you look up fan art, and like it should be fine. And even if you look them up As long as you stay within that top box where their art is at or just scroll like all the way to the bottom as fast as you can, you should be fine.
00:24:24
Speaker
that Scroll as fast as you can. Yeah, i don't know what the reasoning was for renaming them.
00:24:33
Speaker
um I guess it's to dehumanize them. Cool. Yeah, dehumanize them, or are the the this idea that they are no longer who they used to be. like Like, Fume Hood is not, like, she's not in there. Or if she is, she's buried so deep that it's not really her anymore.
00:24:50
Speaker
Yeah. Which, um as we then come to find out, they maybe are, but also maybe aren't. I don't know. yeah I still don't quite... it I mean, think about how they had to rename, they renamed Noelle to Echidna.
00:25:04
Speaker
Yeah. yeah Yeah. Yeah, i I saw that more because Noelle was her actual name, not her. She didn't have a cape name. So Echidna was just like her.
00:25:16
Speaker
Echidna was her cape name. Her power form. Well, i was going to they knew who she was. They named her Echidna as like a designated target. I think the same thing with like calling these Titans.
00:25:30
Speaker
I mean, I guess you could call them Titan fume hood, Titan ah prancer, yeah but then you get into the fact that they are merging sometimes. So it's, it's not technically correct to say Titan prancer. It's Titan prancer moose.
00:25:45
Speaker
So just, you know, as they're linking up and doing weird things, um they're not necessarily. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. yeah i Yeah, I do think about, like, it does help when you're when you're looking back. Like, even at um ah Taylor and the different names that she's had throughout Worm.
00:26:05
Speaker
And it it helps to different differentiate the timeline a little bit to know that, like, ah, yes, this is when she was Skitter, and this is when she was Weaver, and this is when she was Kepri. And that, like, that distinction helps you know...
00:26:22
Speaker
where you're at in the story. And like, even now, no one calls her Skitter or Weaver. They all call her Kepri. Except for ah ah Chicken Little. aden Yeah.
00:26:34
Speaker
Yeah, he doesn't. But everybody else, everyone calls her Kepri. Which is... yeah I don't like, but whatever. Yeah. ah But back to Axed, I think Axed's ability, like, obviously sucked as a perk of the cave where they could only telepoint teleport towards danger.
00:26:51
Speaker
um But as a Titan, the fact that they just can automatically go to whatever the most dangerous thing is to them. And that is like... In this case, it's like, oh, it's the people going into the shard space.
00:27:06
Speaker
Boom, I'm there like immediately to stop that. ah That's yeah crazy power. I did like it was such a ah like an SCP ah esque um resolution where they were like, well, we can't have ah we can't have Skatey figuring out where we are because we're clearly the most dangerous thing. So we have a whole team just fighting them just to keep distracted.
00:27:33
Speaker
Yeah, really. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mm hmm. yeah yeah and then I don't even know how they're going to deal with Victor because like he's literally just a an everything vampire. yeah He's just a power vacuum. yeah like He's going to walk into a space and everybody's going to get ah what's that feeble-minded essentially.
00:27:54
Speaker
yeah yeah Like yeah permanently feeble-minded in his area. like That's crazy. Yeah. oh yeah ah Yeah, I mean, oh all the Titans get introduced at the same time.
00:28:07
Speaker
um Imagine if you had one arc to understand all five Endbringers and Scion at the same time. Yeah, exactly. I mean, and I think like even with... um with the end bringers, we even like got confused with Tohu and Bohu and, uh, Kansu, like, because they got introduced so rapidly, so quickly, but we still had time to realize, okay, this is Kansu. That's the time when we got Tohu and Bohu.
00:28:33
Speaker
Don't remember. That or ultimately, um, you know, believe Tohu's the tall one and Bohu is the mask one. Yeah. Yeah. um But all that. Yeah, exactly. I think J-Man makes a good point. It's exactly the same where it's like instead of being introduced organically to the Titans, we're introduced to them in a briefing. And that while it is a quick way to disseminate information, it's not effective for storytelling, really. Yeah, I think it was trying to like it got somewhat preempted by having. Yeah.
00:29:08
Speaker
You know the interlude. Beforehand and. Focus on so a lot of the characters. That we were about to see. Become Titans. um But.
00:29:23
Speaker
I mean it still stands. It wasn't enough. To stop that from being a really rushed. Exposition. because Because I think. there's A lot of exposition and there's no.
00:29:34
Speaker
Not a real great way around to do it. In a short amount of time. Because I think you could have said, and I don't know, mean I'm trying to rewrite something big here, but I feel like you could have just focused on Fume Hood, Contessa, Moose Prancer, and Victor...
00:29:55
Speaker
there was one other one in that there, right? In Arachne, right? Like you focus on those five to start because those are characters we have connections to. We know who they are. We see them become Titans. And then you can naturally, like Scotty could even be a surprise, so to speak.
00:30:10
Speaker
um You know, just in the sense of like, oh shoot, there's another Titan here. We don't know this one very well. Oh, it must have been this cape. Like they can figure it out quickly, but have it introduced a bit more naturally like you did for those five Titans. And I think it would have been easier.
00:30:27
Speaker
And then it's just the fact that there's also like, also there's like two that we know exists, but we don't know what they are. So there they are. Yeah. yeah you know you Look at them. This would have also been an interesting way because we were kind of in worm.
00:30:40
Speaker
We were kind of deprived of of figuring out how the Endbringers worked because we come into the story 30 years late. So by the time we get to the Leviathan fight,
00:30:52
Speaker
It's already established. They've got the wristbands. they've got the debrief. Everybody knows where to go. Like that kind of thing. Like we we never we never got that like, oh shit, this is the first encounter with an Endbringer moment. Yeah. Really?
00:31:04
Speaker
And this kind of would have been an interesting, like we could have had that here. We could have sort of felt that for the first time. Like you said, they like imagine no debrief, not really understanding what's going on Giant monsters are attacking, having to figure out who's what, what the powers are.
00:31:20
Speaker
It doesn't have a name yet. They've got to name it on the fly. Like, yeah, it could. I think it could have been. Interesting. The ah Jacob, if you and I could have an aside for our podcast or wrap up podcast where we rewrite this um just between you and I, ah yeah I think the smart thing to do here would be we keep all of this in a narrower, tighter focus, not so big. It's we just focus on one, maybe two Titans that we know stick to Fortuna, stick to Fume hood, make that what our heroes are dealing with.
00:31:54
Speaker
Everybody else can be dealing like, oh my gosh, Titans are popping up all over the place. But our heroes are only dealing with the two they know. One that's good, one that's bad. And they assist in that fight, however that goes. And then we can drag it over to whatever else is going on in the Shard Realm to stop all the other Titans. We can even list them off and who they were or what happened. But we do not have to interact with them.
00:32:21
Speaker
in any way pre us going into the shard space. That way you keep, like I said, things really tight, really narrow. There is a lot going on, but we're only seeing our part of the theater of war rather than looking at a top down map, which is what I feel like keeps getting forced on us.
00:32:42
Speaker
Yeah. Just thought yeah. Anyway, uh, back to the podcast. How are you guys doing? ah That's crazy. i had a fun idea that might actually be helpful.
00:32:53
Speaker
If you have the if you have other languages added to your Google account, you can view word like web pages in different languages. Right. So you could add not Spanish to your settings or a language you don't speak and then you could not get any spoilers and still look at stuff.
00:33:12
Speaker
as Oh, that is smart oh that's i will say smart. I will say, just like Fran warned, I did in fact accidentally see a spoiler. yeah rock well That's great. I have that look to look forward to. We did say do it, but you know we should have
00:33:35
Speaker
well i didn't i actually it wasn't the wiki it was bre it ah yeah You can read it. we inulate what There's a post that didn't have a spoiler tag on it. And oh, shame on you.
00:33:48
Speaker
Boo. I have had to try to forget some wiki things I looked at like five years ago. You know, like do you still remember that do with it but a couple very vague things that I don't think is going to really spoil anything. But yeah, yeah. Baila smacker with the wormnesia bat.
00:34:05
Speaker
know but just I just need one of the blow-up bats that you have at, like, you know, baseball games. yeah yeah But it just says Wormnesia on it, or just, bop, hand on the head. It's whacker, it does the slide whistle sound. that yeah yeah Little Tweety Birds, like a little Simurgs go around her head.
00:34:27
Speaker
That's exactly how it sounds. I'll get a two liter bottle and write Wormnesia on it and do that later. Oh, wow. Thanks. Actually, Alan, we have ah an empty milk gallon carton. Even better. Who doesn't love getting bonked with an empty milk gallon that says Wormnesia on it? What?
00:34:50
Speaker
That'll fix it. i don't think It's not all that should be not on the thing tonight, but it would go under the milk category. for that's our next Oh my god! i <unk>s The milk category. Hannah, that's our next that's our next t-shirt design. is It's just a a stylized milk empty milk jug with a piece of duct tape on it and black Sharpie says Wormnesia.
00:35:10
Speaker
and you just Oh my god, I love it. i love it. and why directly greek yeah what they want Apply directly to the head. yeah yeah a ride directly Apply directly to the Corona Palencia.
00:35:23
Speaker
Yes. Yes. I actually like that. That's fun. Oh my gosh. Perfect. so um Yeah, Beefaroni did say it is odd to think about about it but tohu bohu and kansu are all just still chilling out in the world they're just not doing anything thing yeah all the engineers except for um is chill are they're just like yep whatever well because they're so important for so long now they're just like out there just vibing like what do you mean why haven't we called them in
00:36:06
Speaker
I think it's more weird that the Simurgh is not dormant. Like it kind of makes sense. Yeah, they were just they were just yeah weapons like yeah from a dead shard, essentially. So I don't know what what makes the Simurgh special.
00:36:23
Speaker
i love her. I love her. Yeah. We'll find out. but Fascinating. Perhaps we will.
00:36:31
Speaker
Anything else on 18 three? Don't think so. Nope. Yeah. Not really. Yeah. 18. going to throw 18, four and five together. What were you going say, Hannah? Sorry.
00:36:45
Speaker
I just going to say, it's that it's that calm before the storm thing where like we're all prepped and we're all ready to fight. And we don't really, we're all just kind of waiting to find out where we're going and what we're doing. And i do appreciate those moments of just like the the the downtime. We've talked about this a lot before, but like the downtime is always so, i think, needed, especially like right before you go into a big fight. Yeah.
00:37:11
Speaker
But it also really does play into that kind of like ah roller coaster of of of. ah And not tone ah pacing it feeling very like, oh, OK, we're going to go into a big fight, but we're also we're going to also sit around and talk about it for 18 million years. And it's like, OK, OK, cool. Again, yeah um I did like ah Victoria getting to stand up on stage and and be smart in front of people.
00:37:39
Speaker
Yes, yes. I was going to say it's interesting that they are aware of the shard cycle, which is a fascinating thing to me. That was something I didn't know.
00:37:51
Speaker
Something I didn't know how aware of it they were. Yeah. and And I thought that was interesting. And Armstrong's the one who presents that. So it's become like...
00:38:02
Speaker
official PRT data. Hey, this is what the shards are. They're entities from another universe, basically aliens. And this is what they do. And we know that now. And now the cycle, you know, was oh, that's interesting that they know that like, and they can say it with such confidence. Like we know that because we read the worm interlude where the worms were worming, but ah we know.
00:38:27
Speaker
I didn't know that Armstrong had read worm. You know, I. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. That's why he's the expert. That's why he's the expert. That's why Miss Militia is still around, because she was the only one who remembered her vision, right?
00:38:40
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, true. That's my own question. There we go. Bring it back around. well Yeah. we Good job. Yeah. Love when that happens.
00:38:52
Speaker
And then they wormed everywhere. Then they wormed so hard in time. Yeah. um Alrighty. 18, four and five. I will put together. 18.4. Victoria tries to keep Kinsey from coming and the teams portal between the two Titans.
00:39:14
Speaker
Even Oberon begin to fight and the teams alternate between them. Tattletail realizes that this is the new normal. 18.5. Victoria and Tattletail help Eve victims.
00:39:28
Speaker
Augur beats and connects with Scotty. Kinsey gets a snapshot of Oberon's Shardussi. Vicky and Foil distract Eve, and Scotty arrives to destroy the Dragoncraft.
00:39:42
Speaker
Mick! nick um i mean Is it? Some editorial decisions there. And I hate it. Yeah. you You really didn't the have to Yet he did anyway. I did that for you guys. I didn't have to go that hard, but I did for you guys. I really wish you weren't hard while you did it.
00:40:05
Speaker
<unk>s Probably the worst part.
00:40:09
Speaker
You didn't have to i I didn't have to, but I did for you. i can't go anywhere with you guys. Jeez. what is time Once again, Hannah, you bring the worst out of us. This is really your fault. Damn. ah I'm glad I can add this to our podcast. is Speaking of getting wet, y'all discuss. I'm going and to get some water.
00:40:36
Speaker
Fair enough. Just victim-leaming. Excellent. yeah Yeah. Yeah. So... god So this is where I do like the negotiation with Kenzie just as a fun little character moment where she's like, please, can I come? And she's like, no, you're not frontline. And she's like, but they can keep me safe with the malfunctions. And they're like, I guess the malfunctions do need something to do so they don't feel useless, but they'll have to fight. Yeah.
00:41:00
Speaker
Yeah. and And then they're like, okay, twenty you know, five minutes. And she's like, ten. And they're like, no, five. just that like It felt very mom-like. Please, can I come? No. Please. All right, fine.
00:41:14
Speaker
Oh, yeah. You know, exactly. yeah Ten minutes, five. I just, yeah. No, I do love that. Also, like, the... the the
00:41:26
Speaker
Oh my god, i just forgot their names. You literally just said them. The malfunctions? Malfunction junction? function Major malfunctions. ah The major malfunctions. like After losing Fumehood like that in that way is so traumatizing. and like Especially since we just got all of their backstories and they're all trauma-bonded poor babies. um that like that you You kind of want to give them ah some sort of win and like having them protect and care for Kenzie right after losing Fumehood, who has kind of been a mentor for them the past couple of months is like, I don't know. It kind of feels like it could be good for them, you know? So I think it's a good choice. And, and, you know, we need Kenzie to take pictures of things. So it's true. It's true.
00:42:23
Speaker
It is, it is funny that, and this is kind of the same thing that happened with Scion, right? And maybe I've made the same joke, but every time they're using powers to fight these entities, these shards, it's the, the line from, ah one of the Avengers movies from end game where it's like, I use the infinity stones to destroy the stones, right? Like I use the thing itself to destroy it. And that feels very similar here where it's like, Oh, we're using the shards to destroy the shards. It's like what we're trying to do.
00:42:52
Speaker
You know, as we're trying to trying to use our powers to understand them, the powers came from them, though. So we're using them to understand them. It is like this recursive circle, which is why I think it's going to end badly somehow. But oh, yeah, I feel like it will. I feel like there's no way this can end nicely.
00:43:12
Speaker
yeah If Wildbow has beat us over the head with one thing about Ward, it's that this whole story does not get better. like The first arc was the happiest anyone has been, and it's been downhill since then. Basically.
00:43:27
Speaker
but Basically, yeah. Gosh, remember when we were dealing with Hollowpoint? and Like, wow, what a good time that was for all of us. Dealing with banter with Moose, with hook, line, and sinker.
00:43:42
Speaker
ah Good times. So true.
00:43:48
Speaker
Those times are gone. um I have a an idea about all the Titans tumbling, um which is that all the Titans attacking each other is just reenacting all of the original worms on planet worm writhing around and fighting each other.
00:44:12
Speaker
I don't know if you remember that. but Yes, I do remember that. I mean, from the interlude. Yeah, I also remember. Yeah, like way back when it's like, you know, the planet where like they've basically consumed everything and they're all just kind of like yeah a giant planet where they're all wriggling on top of each other. And eventually, you know, yeah, they figure out how flight.
00:44:33
Speaker
Right. yeah right interdimensional flight. Yeah, they're like, we can't do this anymore. We're going to kill ourselves. Did this whole thing start because Wildbow just had the idea of like, what if instead of humans, worms evolved?
00:44:47
Speaker
Is that like this? Is that how? this the everything is crabs, but everything is worms? if Everything is worms? You how it started. Because now I'm thinking it because you can like section up worms just like shards, right? Because each worm is like its own section is like independent. Yeah, so. Right, right. It's all making sense in my mind.
00:45:05
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And as people, let's see. ah Yeah. Oh, and the worms, planet worms also has the weird dimensional properties like the Titans. Yeah. Oh, it's true. mean they're a worm They're essentially reenacting what happened on the first planet.
00:45:22
Speaker
In a way, you know, laie days ofvaal yeah, they're doing the the friction slash merging of each other all into the one thing and then ascending off the planet. So no, no. And they they really are worms because with some species of worms, you can chop them into pieces, but the pieces can live independently. That's what Jacob was saying. And that's exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Beautiful. Wow.
00:45:47
Speaker
beautiful wow Beautiful. So beautiful. Life ah finds a way. mine like ah but man anyway um they The whole like while they were busy finding out if they could worm they never asked the question should worm. Oh my my gosh.
00:46:15
Speaker
oh my yeah yeah Alright, anything else in this? 18.6? I think we're 4 or 5 still for a bit.
00:46:31
Speaker
Calm down. i think I think Tattletail realizing her power cluing her in that this is the new normal, right? yeah Is that it's sort of this this hint that this isn't going to be a fight we can win the traditional way, which I appreciate. Yeah.
00:46:48
Speaker
um Because that is kind of the, which which I appreciate because it does differentiate it a bit from Scion where, you know, Taylor's whole thing was like, if we can just all work together, we can hit Scion hard enough to win. Like we, we are capable of just punching him hard enough to win. Literally.
00:47:10
Speaker
We just need to get everybody to work together. So the key to that victory was Taylor forcing everybody to work together as Keprii. Whereas with this one, it's this sense of like, no, no matter what we do, this is just going to keep spiraling.
00:47:25
Speaker
And we need to find a way to cut the spiral before it goes out of control. Right. So we need to break the cycle rather than... it feels It feels so sad. Like it feels so... Like with Scion, there's this feeling like if we could just beat him...
00:47:44
Speaker
then we'll be okay. But with this, it's like, we'll never be okay. Like, it's just, we're just gonna fight more and more and more. And it's like, oh it makes me tired.
00:47:56
Speaker
It makes me so tired. they right Yeah, right. Gosh. And it's, I don't know, like, It's just, I don't know. Yeah. And this kind of this feeling like, like at the end of, of, of worm, you, you have this like, okay, well, I don't know how, but we're going to pull through. Like, we're going to figure it out with this. I'm like, I don't know if we will, like, I don't know if we are going to pull out, you know, like, are we going to make it? i don't know if we will. And there's this, like, I have this,
00:48:31
Speaker
I have a, like, for the first time in this whole fucking book, I have a guess of how it's going to end. And I don't like it. I don't like it at all. But I see a potential ending.
00:48:45
Speaker
Although, like, i no one saw Kepri coming. Like, holy shit. and So, I mean, knowing Wildbo, he's going to throw out something crazy and I'm going to be like, well, that's not what I thought was going to happen, but okay.
00:48:57
Speaker
So, I don't know. It just, it feels so, like, if I was in Victoria's shoes, I don't know if I could keep fighting. Like, I i might just kind of sit down and not get back up.
00:49:10
Speaker
Yeah.
00:49:14
Speaker
yeah Yeah, it's very, very daunting, I think, yeah in a way that, in a weird way that Scion was not. Yeah.
00:49:25
Speaker
Yeah. and i And the problem like with this is like no one knows. like No one knows that this is just going to keep happening. like It's not just like, oh yeah, we fight these Titans and we'll be fine. like, no, there will be more. And it will keep going until that it's everyone. like This isn't going to stop. yeah And like it makes me wonder how many of the other precogs or thinkers just have figured this out. That Tattletail is just kind of like...
00:49:54
Speaker
yeah we're not this isn't this that's why we haven't seen anything from dinah because she figured it out long ago just like yeah you know you know what i'm just gonna go so enjoy what little uh what little life i have left that yeah for real is that why condessa just wanted to go to a beach she was like i know how it's gonna end so i just i just want to go sit on the beach for like five minutes yeah
00:50:23
Speaker
It'd be. ah Bernard says, how do you think that the heroes can win? i don't think they can. don't know that they do, honestly. Yeah, I mean, it teases. at The ending, the kind of I hinted at that it feels like they're teasing too, is just some sort of separation from shards altogether that like just i think so too severs the connection.
00:50:43
Speaker
So all powers are gone type of thing, which... we could talk about endings i think would i would hate that ending but i so i think that's the only one i could think of where like anybody wins where anyone survives yeah basically makes everyone human again and the existing shards you know chart off yeah yeah they shard off yeah Sharding. no Sharding everywhere. No. No. God damn it. Yeah.
00:51:15
Speaker
Yeah. um yeah 12 tons of gun is a good start. I think it was 14, but yeah. It was a good start. That's for damn sure. I think it it was 12 because her she said her max was ah she could lift 14. Right, that's right. sorry yeah And then Kenzie was like, well, here, this was 12. The patrons are always right. there they are all right You're right. and That was silly of me to question in the chat. Absolutely silly. It's true.
00:51:48
Speaker
moving on well moving on yes scotty arrives yeah gaty scotty yeah i say scotty scotty but then it kind of sounds like the name scotty i did think you were yeah saying scotty i think of the song scotty doesn't know or whatever that song is le wait hold on hold on how it okay wait so i've been listening to the audiobook titan scotty how is it spelled S-K-A-D-I.
00:52:21
Speaker
Yeah. So it's like Scott D. Oh, yeah. you've been saying Skady. S-K-A-D-Y. D-I. The real Shem Skady. Skady.
00:52:32
Speaker
and Yeah, I've been i've been i've been absolutely S-C-O-T-T-I-E. Right. yeah Like the dog. Because that's how they pronounce it. that is For some reason in my head, I've always pronounced it with like an H in there.
00:52:45
Speaker
So it's like Skadi. Apparently it comes from Norse mythology. And the Norse pronunciation is either Skadi, Skardi, or Skathi, depending on hardy makes a lot how it's There's a few extra letters in there for those some of those pronunciations. Skadi, name is. But it is in none of them Skadi, so Jacob is wrong, is what matters. We knew that the moment moment he said Chevalier, he was wrong. I leave this? No, that's not that's objectively correct. Nick, I'm going to need you to go back to Gervais Street and, you know... Gervais?
00:53:26
Speaker
Gervais? Gervais? Gervais! Gervais! Gervais! Make the Titans 200 feet tall. ah
00:53:34
Speaker
are they Are they not? Yeah. feet seems a At least... They are, once again, objectively larger than the Endbringers. The yeah Titans are what I assumed the Endbringers size was originally. Yeah, so did I. all Like, when reading it, I was like, oh, yeah. And then they're like, yeah, oh my gosh, he's almost 30 feet tall. And you're like, really? can he can he when When you realize yeah Leviathan is just like a guy.
00:54:04
Speaker
yeah yeah i think I think Leviathan's 30 feet is it from head to tail or something like that? It was only really like 15 feet tall or something?
00:54:16
Speaker
I thought he was 30 feet tall but yeah you're like reading ah on the Endbringers and you're like they're not they're not big they're not fucking giant huge monsters I assume like I assume they were kaiju and they're more like little gaiju little guy you For fun, for reference, hemon Behemoth is 50 feet tall, which is also how big the Iron Giant is.
00:54:42
Speaker
So the Behemoth is the size of of the Iron iron Giant. Yeah, yeah. The Simberg is only 15 feet tall. Yeah, Simberg's short. yeah Simberg's, what, 17 feet tall? but Simberg's 15, but her wings make her look bigger. Yeah. Yeah.
00:54:58
Speaker
yeah um I think tohu holest probably yeah because you have one would yeah ah yeah a mile or two miles tall um that's just a single yeah the single spire in the middle of the city the plant itself in the ground yeah exactly yeah which is the closest thing we have to the titans which are actual kaiju um freaking ginormous yeah
00:55:31
Speaker
Well, okay, so Bohu is a little taller. So Bohu is the tower one I've learned now. Bohu is 1,300 feet tall. Yeah, okay. Bohu is quite enormous.
00:55:45
Speaker
That's still... but It's still shorter than i still shorter than a lot of buildings. Yeah.
00:55:53
Speaker
True. Really? Really?
00:55:59
Speaker
It describes her as like a sky. Not even a quarter of a mile? Yeah. Anyways, and we're getting off track as usual. um No, sorry. I'm to look. No, no worries.
00:56:11
Speaker
um Yeah, I think i't learn anything else interesting?
00:56:19
Speaker
Are we still in 13? but We're still in four and five. um But I feel like we could probably move on. i do think it's interesting. The whole point is like, we want to try to keep them connected.
00:56:32
Speaker
And it's an interesting game where they're like, Oh, Oh, bronze winning. We got to help Eve. Oh, Eve's winning. We got to help Oberon. Yeah. this' like Janky back and forth game that they have to play. um yeah Yeah. anyways
00:56:48
Speaker
Anyways. 18, six, 1300 feet tall is taller than the empire state building. Really? But once again, at 46th of tallest buildings.
00:56:59
Speaker
Yeah. 45 buildings, 1300 feet or taller. That's still damn tall. It is crazy. But that is another one of those, like, you get up there and you're like, okay, this isn't as tall as I thought looking off, you know, the tallest tallest building in New York City was going to be.
00:57:15
Speaker
Yeah, right. Bernard asks, are the Titans in the Attack of Titans as big as the Titans here in Ward? I feel like ah the Attack of Titans are shorter.
00:57:27
Speaker
i think I'm thinking specifically the Colossal Titans. All of the Titans that are like, we'll just call them ah what are what is that? The Shield Titan and all of them.
00:57:39
Speaker
They're all like what? Two, three stories tall? All the dumb ones? yeah like They are all um You know, 30 to 50 feet tall.
00:57:52
Speaker
So yeah, within and bringer size and the colossal Titan is Titan size. Yes, the colossal Titan he's 196 feet tall, according to the yes only 196 feet.
00:58:04
Speaker
Apparently. Yeah, I was going to say, oh my gosh, I feel like in Titan wards are bigger than attack. Yeah. hences
00:58:15
Speaker
Let's make it infographic and put it on Reddit. I know we did. That's what I really did. I'm thinking about that. You said 190 feet? 196, yeah. That's about a 12-foot.
00:58:27
Speaker
Because I'm sitting here thinking like, okay, how big were those buildings below inside the wall? And if you stacked how many of them reached the top of the wall, how big would it be? i guess that's not right. There you go. Well...
00:58:43
Speaker
well medieval building. much like Much like the setting of many of these things, the size scaling is often difficult to understand. um yeah Listen, Leviathan is big in our hearts, if not on the battlefield, right? He holds a special place in the neighborhood. yeah but One on the field and number one in your heart.
00:59:06
Speaker
yeah It's true. Mm-hmm. Listen, if anyone could go toe to toe with one of these Titans. Exactly. Especially if we got the ah the souped up one that fought Scion, right? With the yeah armor and the weapons from the Zimmer. That'd be cool.
00:59:24
Speaker
That'd be sweet, actually. Where's Eidolon anyway? I'm just kidding. Yeah. yeah so wouldn' we what did we decide we decided that Valkyrie did create a body but just left him out off to the side yeah never brings him out yeah yeah exactly stay in your room yeah I mean Eidolon was the cuck of the Triumvirate we know 100% although cannotlthough technically ethically legend was
00:59:57
Speaker
oh true true legend did not know what was going on poor guy poor guy you know i will say i don't remember when it is but the moment and it's not super like relevant timeline wise but the moment when it describes legend getting hit by one of the titans and i'm like oh no not legend and then it describes his wounds as like healing is like laser lasers are exploding out of him i'm like oh okay That's cool. He's also basically immortal.
01:00:23
Speaker
i Once again, just another point in the column that legend got the absolute best power. Yeah, legend the living laser. Yeah. exactly Like super cool we talked about his whole speeding up and like potentially that he is designed for like space travel because he goes into that, yeah you know, state where he just kind of doesn't think the faster he goes.
01:00:46
Speaker
I wonder if that literally is he just becomes a living like beam of light. would assume. Oh, yeah. and I had that actually beat during that scene, Nick, where like his lasers, he's like almost manipulating them as, as sutures or something. It's, it's like this incredible fine control. i was like, well, that makes sense. Cause if his, if his shard was like the, the space travel shard, essentially the light travel shard, then anything traveling at that speed would have to be able to perceive and manipulate that speed. So like having fine control,
01:01:22
Speaker
over lasers and light like fits in with the shard, which is it's really fun. It's a yeah great, great power.
01:01:31
Speaker
I love we love legend. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Big fan point six, 18, six, six, six, six.
01:01:41
Speaker
Scotty kills the artillery line and Victoria works to defend the annihilators. Vicky tries to help switch hitter. The group falls back temporarily and Perrion uses her true power.
01:01:56
Speaker
We get a lot of fun, really quick characters and powers either in this chapter or or the ones before and after. I can't remember exactly where, but like switch hitter.
01:02:08
Speaker
Um, team stood out to me and then yeah the home team the home team um and then um i don't know if we got a name for the cape that like got split in half by scotty and then regrows out of the split or something like that i'm trying to remember who that was ah I don't. I don't. It was a really cool, gross moment, but it was it was awesome.
01:02:42
Speaker
I mean, at this point in I was looking at ah guess who it was. Who? Hecatomb. Hecatomb? Was it Hecatomb? Yeah. I thought Hecatomb was was the one who was trying to.
01:02:56
Speaker
who's Yeah, I was in person. I mean, there was also because the other two that I remember were Gundak, who is just, ah you know, oops, all guns. Yeah.
01:03:11
Speaker
And then team, I think. Yeah, team. Yeah. So which sounds like something team could do if they're really growing back. No, Team team was the um was the one with all the with like the the waterfall ah minions that they could create. That had... Yeah.
01:03:31
Speaker
i said t yes and That was a flower of that Flower of the Hecatomb is her full name. Okay. yeah Flower of the Hecatomb. Let me see. I'm trying to remember. Is she she not the one that Victoria... I'm sorry. Go ahead.
01:03:46
Speaker
No, I was just going to read a ah bit. Scotty's massive axe and cleaved into her from forehead to pelvis, but didn't make it further. As the woman's hands pressed in on the flat side of her blade, Scotty pulled the weapon away. The woman's two halves fell to either side and a fresh version of her partially naked blood streaked upper body lunging out of the massive wound like a person coming out of the water.
01:04:07
Speaker
So it's a great bigger, stronger with a wreath of molted, wounded versions of herself, draping one side of her chest hips and forming a skirt down to the ground. yeah know Yes. So badass. God damn. damn Wow. Yeah.
01:04:23
Speaker
It's certainly flower of the Hecatomb. Pretty picture. Yeah. Another just another name drop. She's one of the capes who'd been brought to our world by Capri. Mm hmm. back where she belonged oh cool is she is she also the one who she victoria watches her basically make a split decision to like protect one side and she had done it in vain or whatever and it's like and she like looks around and realizes that she protected the wrong side or whatever and victoria's like i like she's just not quite fast enough
01:04:54
Speaker
Yeah, like, I know how that feels. She's going to remember that forever. And, like, she's trying so hard to, like... She was brought here, and yet she's fighting so hard. Like, ah, that did that did hit me.
01:05:07
Speaker
Yeah, because there's a bit of, like... There's, like, a little bit of a time jump here where the implication is that they've been fighting the Titans for, ah like, a little while, like, hours, yeah at least. Yeah.
01:05:18
Speaker
And, yeah, because you're right, because they there talks about... I was like, you've got to be perfect every second. yeah It was about, i think they said 40 minutes. is I was just scrolling through and they said 40 minutes, but yeah. Exactly, yeah. think Of course. In Worm Time. i I should have known. A single minute has passed. Two minutes, who knows? Gosh. Which again, through Ward is like like watching an anime where it's five episodes in and five seconds has passed. I think it's been...
01:05:46
Speaker
There is that line where Victoria later says, Kenzie's grown up so much in the two months I've known her. yeah and like ah know I was even thinking about how this one isn't quite as bad because it does make sense, but still threw me off. And they were like, when Kenzie was like, oh, and by the way, Rain goes to sleep at 1036. They're like, oh my goodness, we haven't, he hasn't slept since we were back in the Shard Realm. And I was like, that was all...
01:06:13
Speaker
All a day ago? It was 24 hours ago? What do you mean oh yeah yeah i mean do you mean? What do you mean? mean, you see, it feels like maybe a choice after all of the time skips from Wyrm that maybe Wildbo is like, okay, we're going to definitely make sure everything happens and We won't have any time jumps, any big ones.
01:06:36
Speaker
we'll just It'll all just have be happening. And then everyone's getting whiplash from everything happening so fast. Like, we need some downtime. We don't need two years, but we do need a little bit. We do need a little bit of time. Please, please.
01:06:52
Speaker
Yeah, no, it's it's a lot. It's a lot. um yeah I do love that they've deemed the people who can deal damage to the Titans as annihilators.
01:07:03
Speaker
It's a great... I'd love just to be like, yeah, I'm in the annihilator class. Yeah, that's so fun. That's so, so fun. um like i also love I also love that Wildbow really plays into a wonderful stereotype here where the softball-themed hero is named Switch Hitter...
01:07:25
Speaker
and and what are softball players known for being that's right lesbians and ah love it and her team name is girls at bat and i'm just like wow love love it just really really shook the the gay sparkle dust on that team yeah fabbula I gotta say, probably one of the better thematically, like thematic capes that that keep to their theme.
01:07:55
Speaker
Yeah. yeah yeah but Her bats are all that cool. With all the glitter, sparkly galaxy theme and the thorns. well she's got married She's got her two keyblade-ass looking baseball bats.
01:08:08
Speaker
Yeah. you know One's the sparkle one and one's the kingdom hearts. You know, the... sealer you know from the dark kingdom hearts or it also kind of really feels a lot like the baseball bats from woolly coolly especially when he pulls out the two baseball bats at the very end of the first foolly coolly series um when he's like merged with adam anybody knows what i'm talking but they're basically cause i mean it's cosmic baseball bats
01:08:42
Speaker
yeah And they're on a rooftop battling, you know, essentially God stuff. So wouldn't be surprised if he pulled from FLCL for that one. There you go I will say um the comments are saying Bernard says Ward has downtime compared to Pact.
01:09:02
Speaker
And apparently Fran says pale this and Pale are the ones with downtime. And I'm just like... oh So it could be worse is what you're saying. Oh my gosh. Nick. good nick and no Nick.
01:09:16
Speaker
You don't understand.
01:09:19
Speaker
Hacked is two shit rolling downhills back to back.
01:09:28
Speaker
That's it. That's the whole thing. It's shit. now You get an intro shit rolls downhill. shit rolls downhill. The end. Is it the same down the hill or is it two separate shits rolling down? Two separate shits rolling down two separate hills.
01:09:45
Speaker
The whole thing takes place over like two weeks. yeah Oh my god relax
01:09:55
Speaker
What are we reading after this, by the way? Yeah. we decide We should discuss that. Haven't decided. we have a lot discuss. We'll there when we get there. ah I mean, you mean in very soon time? In two months time? Something like that.
01:10:13
Speaker
I mean, yeah.
01:10:17
Speaker
Yep. There you go. batch Back on that one. Yep. Yep. I will say i do I do enjoy Switch Hitter. That little interaction there of like Victoria basically saying like, hey, you've done enough. It's okay.
01:10:33
Speaker
You know. ah That one hurt. That was a ah good moment. Um, and then, yeah, and then Perry and unleashes, uh, Oh my God. Hey, it's one of those things where I'm like, I bet she could do like, I think if I'd thought about it and you're like, what else can Perry and manipulate? She can manipulate cloth.
01:10:53
Speaker
She can manipulate leather. Interesting. What is leather exactly? Hmm. Oh yeah. She could definitely do skin it like that always' been about skin. It's always been about skin. always been about skin. That's truly horrifying, but it was also very cool.
01:11:09
Speaker
i I also love the um the friend did mention earlier. People were mad. The one good gay couple was fighting, um which are I'm assuming parrying and in foil.
01:11:20
Speaker
oh Yeah. But I do love that. like All couples. arians like i don't know if i can I don't know if I can forgive you for you know killing March. and toils like I don't know if I can forgive you for making a flesh monster. Geez, lady. for making you out of Dead body parts. Wow. Also, important question. Alan, if I died and my body is there and she comes up and she goes, hey, can I use Hannah? What is the answer? Yeah, fuck it.
01:11:48
Speaker
Thank you. Hannah would have said yes while she was alive. Are you kidding? Damn right. Damn right. Make me part of your... yeah Nah, I'm a big proponent of but fuck, if i'm if I'm not here, use my body for other shit. I'm sorry, unless when unless we can like somehow need the body to re-Valkyrie me or something like that, you can take that shit, stuff the coffin full of explosives, drop me off over a field and have it blow up mid-air. I do not care. Sure, don't care.
01:12:19
Speaker
yeah no and if you need me for shit that's fine cool go for it take my organs donate my body for science i would love i would love for my body to end up in one of those like cool science uh body dead body fields where they like see how bodies decompose under certain circumstances that would be so cool put me in with the crows let's go cool And this is your reminder to make sure you check that organ donor box on your DMV appointments. Always have to.
01:12:47
Speaker
It's true. you're not Because remember, your body is just a meat suit that you reside in currently. yeah I remember all just a bunch of mecha pilots. Neat suit. Exactly. Yep. I remember I remember the first time I got my license. They asked me if I wanted to be an organ donor. And at that point it freaked me out. and if I said no.
01:13:09
Speaker
i I just didn't really understand it. Then I was 16. I was like, kind of weird. I'm going to say no right now. um And then they asked me, like, well, do you want to donate to like Red Cross instead? And I was like, well, yeah, sure.
01:13:21
Speaker
my mom, who's with me getting my driver's license, is like, oh, so when it's your organs after you're dead, you're going to be stingy. But with my money, you're going to pay money to the Red Cross. Super solid.
01:13:35
Speaker
I was like, you make a good point, mom. So you didn't give either. because i like you know what? Well, keep them both. Actually, i donate my mom's organs when I die. When I die, then it'll be me.
01:13:51
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, that's so funny. Oh, my God. yeah ah skin Skin giant, though.
01:14:04
Speaker
Chewy. Oh, yeah, skin giant. I tell you what, Wild Boat does keep finding ways to make flesh ah powers happen. Oh, and I do love him for it. I truly do. love a little bit of body horror.
01:14:18
Speaker
yeah It just feeds my soul in a way that does make me worry about my own mental health, but I ah enjoy it anyways. like it's It's just so cool. like ah yeah no like We didn't get enough Bonesaw and Ward. It really brings into question...
01:14:37
Speaker
What was Perian's trigger? Oh, God. Do we room do we know? Nope. Can we make a guesstimate at timeline?
01:14:50
Speaker
I mean... Can I look it up? Will it will if will this spoil anything? i i mean, I would always suggest not looking it up. I'll look it up. How about that?
01:15:01
Speaker
Thank you, Michael. I was going ask chat if they could just tell me if it was going to spoil anything, but, ah you know. We're talking about Perrion, right? Yep. Perrion. I'm pretty sure it's pre-college or in college.
01:15:17
Speaker
and I'm just curious about Timeline. Yeah, let me see if I can find it. so Because we know it was before it was before the Slaughterhouse-9. Harassed by a guy in college.
01:15:28
Speaker
unwanted attention at university. of Yikes. Oh.
01:15:36
Speaker
yeah Michael, is there an official wiki answer? um Looking still? Okay, no worries. Well, yeah he looks that up. ah Anything else?
01:15:49
Speaker
Anything else from We've got you a lot to talk about. Yep. I'm going to throw and together. Yeah, go for it. So 18.7. Victoria gets momentarily punched into the shard space before talking to Fumehood and falling back.
01:16:08
Speaker
She talks with Kinsey and company is treated by Uncle Mike and almost panics before finding Jester. 18.8. Flashback to Victoria meeting the patrol block.
01:16:19
Speaker
Victoria gets a 12 ton cannon. Kinsey accidentally steals a puppy. Womp womp. And we learn why the patrol block is doing so well. Oof.
01:16:33
Speaker
Yeah. I, this is where it gets interesting, right? When we do realize, uh, ah Eve fume hood is still inside of the Titan somewhere, much like Dauntless. We saw from Dauntless is interlude.
01:16:47
Speaker
He recognized his son. He was able to feel that moment and have some manner of control over it. It seems like even Dauntless are on the side of, um, on the side of humanity to some extent.
01:17:02
Speaker
Hmm. And so that brief like moment of like, Oh, um, she's actually trying to help us is really interesting.
01:17:14
Speaker
Yeah.
01:17:17
Speaker
I'm very curious. We get a little bit of insight, obviously in the, in the interlude, but like still trying to piece together what the, uh, what the end goal is going to be for the Titans is, is interesting.
01:17:28
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I, oh man. Um,
01:17:37
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. the The scene with Uncle Mike was really good, too. Like, this is this is one of those lulls in the battle that felt really meaningful because we got so many, like, little meaningful moments.
01:17:48
Speaker
You know, Kenzie with the chicken nuggets. ah Uncle Mike, that conversation just kind of resolved. Not really resolving, but kind of adding to lore of family. Dynamic, for sure. Yeah.
01:18:05
Speaker
Yep. Fran says Mike is the most normal Dallin. You know? like yeah not a Not a high bar, but yes, he does clear it. yeah He does clear the bar. Yeah, that one... That one's interesting. I mean, like, I...
01:18:20
Speaker
it's It's knowing their trigger event, what happened, and then remembering that like, oh yeah, there was also a brother. Like, oh yeah, shit.
01:18:31
Speaker
ah yeah Huh, okay. That makes sense. Also weird. it was weird Was Mike the one whose fiance got killed and he retired for a bit, right?
01:18:43
Speaker
Yeah. Floor? Fleur? Fleur? Fleur? It's like an EU. Was that Mike? That was

Character Analysis: Kenzie and Sleeper

01:18:51
Speaker
Mike. or Yeah. okay mike um yeah Yeah. It makes sense. He kind of pulled back.
01:18:58
Speaker
But it's interesting. the one The one bit they notice of like if you don't use your powers it starts to like wear away at you on the inside. Yeah. Very interesting. Which is kind of an interesting like because it's that right. The shards are pushing for conflict. They're pushing for data through conflict.
01:19:14
Speaker
um It makes me extra curious about Sleeper. Because we we can't we keep bringing up Sleeper and we have to run in. i mean, he's going to make an appearance. But yeah and we do right and do something and then they send Legend to deal with him. and play Yeah, Legend leveled the city to slow him down and he like went went back to sleep.
01:19:37
Speaker
Sure, yeah. But that makes me wonder about ah like what Sleeper's doing, you know? i like What if Sleeper's just a house cat that got hit by a shard? it's just and na and the whole Yeah, mostly napping in the sun. Occasionally gets a little angry, but then is like, you know, not going to be bothered too much.
01:20:03
Speaker
He gets the zoo and all a sudden it's a problem. they got i don't know where he's going. We can't track him. Yeah. It's like when the cat suddenly gets into the hunter thing and they're like, I will kill that squirrel.
01:20:18
Speaker
And you're like, you don't need to. It's okay. was like why Which is why it made sense to send legend the human laser pointer after the cat. Oh! i
01:20:34
Speaker
I love it. Oh, amazing. Amazing. ye Until I'm proven otherwise. That's what I believe. Spiritually, it's true.
01:20:45
Speaker
Yeah. Sleeper is totally a cat until up but until proven otherwise. This is just how it is. I'm looking at a sleeper right now. Oh, I will say Beckford has been incredibly cute today. Gosh.
01:21:00
Speaker
What a Mr. Man.
01:21:05
Speaker
oh we also this was uh my least favorite moment of the whole arc which was kenzie taking a puppy no how i have to agree okay wait wait what is your what is why is it your least favorite because it's probably i feel like we're probably on the same we i we've we've talked about this specifically with kenzie before but it applies to everybody but The the lack of growth from her as a character this late into the story is getting really frustrating.
01:21:40
Speaker
And like, I don't know kind of what Nick was saying before we're nearing the end. I don't know how you're going to give her time to actually change. Like, how great would it have been if she took this opportunity to ask ah Rachel and, like, made steps to be like, okay, no, I'm i'm growing as a functional adult.
01:22:04
Speaker
Let me ask permission for this thing that I normally wouldn't. You know? yeah I don't know. It just is like, I'm just... I don't i'm I'm not going to be satisfied with how our character ends now.
01:22:15
Speaker
And it's that's an unfortunate. Yeah, I definitely agree. i just, I think Kenzie has such potential for growth and like the things, if anything that we've seen her change, it's being, it's her being more of a teenager because she's hanging out with the chicken littles and the heartbroken children. And it's like, this is not what we wanted to see from her. Like, this is not, that ain't it. And to be perfectly honest, like I understand, obviously the puppy situation with bitch, not great. Gonna be a problem for everyone.
01:22:46
Speaker
I greatly dislike the amount of sudden, quick, oh my God, effort that we're going to fix this right now. We have to Small... what is Victoria keeps calling it a minor... What does she keep calling it?
01:23:03
Speaker
ah Yeah. ah I forget. What does she keep saying? Like... um not She doesn't call it a problem. doesn't call it an inconvenience.
01:23:15
Speaker
She calls it like a... An emergency. and um Not even emergency, it's something else. It sounds like more panicky, and it's really not. It's a fucking puppy. And like, yes, obviously, bitch is not happy, as she should be not happy with Kenzie taking a puppy. Obviously, that's a big deal.
01:23:33
Speaker
But the amount of absolutely just like, ugh, that people jump, they all are jumping in to be like, oh my gosh, we have to solve this immediately. It's like, you... You really don't. And like, this is going to be a problem for more than just Kenzie because it's bitch cutting them off from the puppies. But like, realistically, what, what problem is this causing right now? Like, why is this such a high priority that we're going to like, everyone is going jump. You're going to wake up tattletale right now to deal with this. Like, this is not, this is not the fucking time. Like mini, mini crisis was the, This not mini crisis. This is not a fucking mini crisis. The world is ending. This is not a crisis. This is a slight problem that Kenzie it is, yeah, it just, ugh, it's annoying. And i find, i find, i find it ah I find it obnoxious where I'm just like, listen, a i
01:24:30
Speaker
this is not, no. Yeah, this is not a crisis. Yeah, I mean, I think there's a... Given that they're in their downtime, I feel like this is an appropriate amount of action to take to quickly resolve this, given that it's bitch, and the chance that her, like, actually having a dog bite Kenzie, um and then, you know, the quicker you can resolve it, the better.
01:24:52
Speaker
ah I feel like that's appropriate. But for Kenzie's development, I think that there is... somewhat of a um Beckford is blepping at me right now um there is somewhat of a satisfaction if I were any number of those people that warned Victoria that Kenzie is a problem.
01:25:25
Speaker
That Kenzie's worse than you think. That Kenzie's like, that Kenzie is all of these things. And that you as the reader go, no, but we love Kenzie.
01:25:36
Speaker
Yeah. And you keep saying this, But Kenzie is a problem. Kenzie really doesn't feel like she's gotten all that much better.
01:25:48
Speaker
Kenzie is still making these mistakes when she kind kind of shouldn't be. Yeah. um And it feels like one of those like Kenzie's thing isn't the development.
01:26:04
Speaker
It's it's more so you as a reader and Victoria potentially coming to understand who's Kenzie, what Kenzie's character is.
01:26:17
Speaker
then She's not, she's not the cute little kid. She is in fact a problem. um Yeah. Not that those are mutually exclusive, but.
01:26:30
Speaker
Well, sure, sure. it's, it is. Yeah. Yeah. and Because i I don't think... The thing is, is like I've never stopped thinking about Kenzie as a problem. She's always been a problem.
01:26:42
Speaker
Once I knew about her and the foster dad situation, i never that that image is never leaving my head when I think about Kenzie. Unfortunately, those things are greatly connected. And there's this feeling of like, okay, well...
01:26:59
Speaker
There are things we cannot trust her with. That's just how it goes. And, like, she's proven herself over and over and over again to, like, look into things when she's asked not to. um i think it's just, it's, part of it is also we continue to allow Kenzie to do things because it's the end of the world.
01:27:19
Speaker
And we continue to make allowances for her. um Because it's like, well, we do need her. Actually, I think i think ah Fran or J-Man might have said this earlier in the chat that I read. But this idea that like we keep we keep allowing Kenzie to do things.
01:27:37
Speaker
Because it's like, well, we we do need her help. And like technically, she probably should have a break from all of her tech. But we need her tech and we need her to look at stuff. So I guess we'll just keep allowing this thing to happen, even though realistically she does not need to be in contact with any of her tech. She needs a ah week vacation, if not more. But, you know, the world is in crisis. The world is ending. So we're going to make allowances. And it feels like we've done that for Kenzie since the very beginning. it's like, well...
01:28:14
Speaker
Kenzie's really useful and she comes up with really cool tech, you know, like, yeah. yeah I mean, riddle me this. What's the difference like between Kenzie and Amy right now?
01:28:27
Speaker
Like who in terms of yeah why are we talking about therapy during the end of the world and forcing her to do that? And it's like the same reason that we should be doing that with Kenzie and not letting her have access to her tech, even when we might really need it.
01:28:43
Speaker
yeah To be fair to Kinsey too, I mean, how much can a person really change in just two months? you know Yeah, no, fuck. Shit. Yeah, that's true. That's such a good point, actually. That's so annoying. Nick, how dare you? How dare you bring up valid points. Yeah. No, no. It's, um, it is, it is a storytelling trope. And because it is a story, the scope of the time doesn't really matter. You still expect character development, which I think I hear you guys and what you're saying. I feel like we've seen character development happen with other people.
01:29:24
Speaker
You know, we've seen right gone there so much. I feel like he's, and we saw a lot with Ashley too. Like, I, I don't know. I feel like, Rain used to be a bigot and now he can look at Tristan without throwing up in his mouth. It's great.
01:29:39
Speaker
but He's really i don't know. just like He's like and I can talk to Tristan and I'm almost okay with him being gay. yeah Almost. Golly.
01:29:51
Speaker
Golly. oh Takes time. well I guess. Takes time. Which they don't have any of. ye Apparently. apparently in the wo There's none to be had.
01:30:04
Speaker
Yeah. um Yeah. I at the same time, i feel like. I don't know. We know and because we know Rachel, we know that Rachel is a type of person who literally has one rule.
01:30:17
Speaker
And so the fact that Kinsey. proved Yeah. One rule is fairly simple here. yeah Yeah. I get why Rachel is upset. and Yeah. Like I ask you to do one thing, Kinsey. You did not do the one thing.
01:30:32
Speaker
But because they need everybody working together, it is a mini crisis because well, because it's also right. The threat of titanization, because they're like when people go into extreme crisis mindset, that is part of what leaks the shard allows the shard to take more control.
01:30:49
Speaker
yeah And if you want to think about like a terrifying Titan, Rachel would be a terrifying Titan. Considering she's got her army of like hundred dogs with her and you know, they would just merge, right? Like they would all be a dog Titan.
01:31:05
Speaker
We'd be getting yeah a dog a nation. Yeah. Oh, get ready for the you the worst full metal alchemist memes you've ever seen in your life. yeah ah uh you said you never wanted to be away from your dog again so i made sure you were never away from your dog again a it's dogs all the way down it' talk oh what is it um um
01:31:37
Speaker
oh man anyways um Okay, so we get the cannon. we get of You're right, Fred. I was thinking it. Of course it would be Cerberus. We all know would be Cerberus. It would have multiple dog heads. oh yeah I mean, we already have one that has like, I forget which one has the different like wolf's head like coming out of the shoulder and stuff like that.
01:32:02
Speaker
i think that's Fortuna. Fortuna? Yeah. Sick as fuck. Yeah, yeah. yeah um Okay, so we also have the brief flashback of Victoria meeting the patrol block. I thought that was cute. That was fun.
01:32:15
Speaker
I love that. I love little bits of lore like that. um But then do they ever actually explain why the patrol block is doing okay?
01:32:26
Speaker
I feel like Victoria is like asking, like, why am I so bad? And we you guys are fine. yeah But i I couldn't remember them actually answering it. Maybe i they don't answer her here. But um our lawyer.
01:32:40
Speaker
jester roll No, our lawyer. all gives her Natalie, yes. natalie Natalie gives her a little bit of an answer. Jester says, I'd tell you, but it's insulting. Yeah. And honestly, the like humans to pair humans are what pair of humans to Titans, that whole thing. yeah Okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. she been and that was like make sense Yeah. yeah Somebody in the comments said like, what, what is the threat of war to an ant when they've been dealing with anteaters their whole life?
01:33:11
Speaker
yeah Yeah. That's a really good way of putting that. Very, very, very. I mean, truthfully, now that we know a lot about the more about the shards and like what's trying to happen, like truthfully, the humans are merely also stuck here. like The rest of the normal people are like, y'all, maybe go duke it out over there because like we outnumber you, clearly.
01:33:38
Speaker
And maybe go away and leave us alone, which...
01:33:46
Speaker
You know? Yeah. Yep. Yeah. um I believe 18.7 is also where we get our brief interaction with Shortcut.
01:33:59
Speaker
Oh, yeah. The bitch. Is he going to die soon? God, i he I hope he doesn't tighten. I honestly don't remember because he's just such a bitch.
01:34:10
Speaker
Like, I hope he double triggers and he shrinks to a hundredth of his size. You're right, exactly. And it's still not as fucking... you Never mind. I just can't.
01:34:23
Speaker
i can't with him. If I die, you know, we're talking about Last Witches. If I die, take my ashes and put it in the radiator of his car. but to put it in his fuel, his fuel, like... Wow.
01:34:37
Speaker
All right. All right. you go Noted. J-Man calling back to Kenzie. ah The story perspective and how the shapes are view ah how it shapes our view is pretty interesting. I feel like if Kenzie was an undersider and worm, we would not second guess half of her actions at all.
01:34:56
Speaker
Absolutely. um Kenzie is almost half villain already when you consider the chicken tenders and their backers. Yeah, I mean, true kenzie Kenzie would fit right in with the Undersiders.
01:35:07
Speaker
I think, however, everybody would still give Kenzie shit for overworking and for being way too invasive of privacy. Yeah. like yeah It doesn't matter where Kenzie's at.
01:35:20
Speaker
Everybody would be giving her shit, and rightly so. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think the heartbroken make a lot of allowances for her.
01:35:31
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Even even then, she's constantly fucking up. I mean, think about how, like, how much Tattletail didn't say um when she basically could figure out everybody's issues.
01:35:48
Speaker
Like, yeah, yeah like Tattledo wasn't blabbing everybody's problems despite knowing all of them. Right. She's just Kenzie with good judgment capabilities.
01:36:00
Speaker
Basically. So like.
01:36:03
Speaker
You know, she and she can't help half the privacy invasion that she does. Kenzie. And kind of can't. Yeah. Yeah. It does make me wonder like how much of it is because like when you're when you have OCD or you have they're just they're just sometimes there are things you don't necessarily have control over. Compulsion. And it makes me wonder. Yeah, like the compulsion of it. Like it does make me wonder how much of this is compulsion. How much of it is like her power literally just pushing her constantly versus like
01:36:41
Speaker
Yeah, versus her having like any any self-awareness to be able to... Yeah. but Especially

Victoria's Mental State

01:36:48
Speaker
if we're talking about like Kenzie, and maybe maybe through her power, if we talk about how shards are more in control you know with younger people, that Kenzie essentially can't stop promoting conflict. like Why did you take the...
01:37:12
Speaker
we know why did you take the puppy that's just going to start a fight with bitch i i and the real answer is is you know her shards grimer worm tonguing like take the fucking dog we'll probably get in a fight you know that's what I want and we talking about Mark Mark mike um Mike and how he basically is like his powers so stuffed up that like if a feather touches it like you know he comes powers and he has to like go do cop stuff on the side just to basically release some of that and Canary as we've seen like ah has a cool power but it wants conflict so bad that it will literally like lash out and yeah you know yeah
01:38:07
Speaker
and Fran says you're describing Kenzie like that's pretty much Taylor overworked spies on people doesn't do privacy. ah true but Taylor was right.
01:38:19
Speaker
Yeah, there was always right. but Yeah, I was like, i there was also a master power er radicalticist yeah yeah i was go say I don't have the mental power right now to debate that. I think you're on to something, but i I do think there are some clear differences between the two. oh for sure.
01:38:39
Speaker
I mean, I can debate it. i mean, Taylor was all about utilizing the information at the right time and like knowing when to keep things to herself, when to use things strategically. Kenzie is just like.
01:38:51
Speaker
Eat all the candy in the candy store. Taylor's like, take all of the candy, lace some of the candy, plant some of the candy. Like, Kenzie's like, I'm a candy. And it's i Taylor had a brain for being able to like, put things together and make things happen and, like, strategize. And, like, in the same way that she can control all of these bugs and like, have all this information, be able to process it all. Kenzie, also, same. But that I think that's where the comparison stops. Like, being able to handle all of this information
01:39:24
Speaker
What do you then do with it? And the answer is Kenzie spies, gets her feelings hurt, and then has trouble focusing and concentrating and functioning because of the information that she read and then hurt her own feelings with. As opposed to Taylor being like, well, shit, now I know this thing.
01:39:44
Speaker
How can I use it?
01:39:47
Speaker
if i And Taylor knew how to talk to dog girls, apparently. Thank you, Fran. and If I know Fran, he's he's doing this to troll us slightly, and he knows that they're going to different.
01:39:59
Speaker
Oh, probably, yeah. but i do I do like that they are similar in some ways, but very essentially very different. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure.
01:40:11
Speaker
All right. We've big chapters to go. you Gotta to keep going. ye Oh, yeah. We might as well. Well, 18, 9, and 10. Oh, wait!
01:40:24
Speaker
Where his hair's falling out. oh yeah yes Oh, yeah. She has a panic attack when that happens. That's truly horrifying. yeah forget forget.
01:40:38
Speaker
now who Who is it that calms her down outside the church? ah Jester. It's Jester. Jester, Jester. That's right. Jester is the best. white Jester, Jester. just the best director in And she even is like, okay, I'm good now. You've asked enough centering questions. I'm fine. Thank you.
01:40:55
Speaker
Because it goes right into it. Hey, let me ask you questions to distract you from the fact that you're freaking out and help you calm down. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, there's great. we be Also, which Jester, the one guy guy that that ah that Dan Swan Song has liked.
01:41:13
Speaker
Yeah. um Like, ah oh, man. Which I want to say, too, Victoria just can't help but be a little judgy. She's like, Jester, not conventionally attractive.
01:41:26
Speaker
In fact, I'd say he's the opposite of any guy I'd ever find attractive. Nice. charge yeah like like She's with acne like, Was that out loud? Yeah.
01:41:39
Speaker
yeah i I personally blame Carol for all of her judginess. But also I can just hear the Hot Girl Problem song playing while Victoria's thinking. yeah yeah oh i just Yeah. You also get the ah not only the Mean Girl vibe, but it's the Yeah, it's very funny, but I do appreciate Jester. He's great.
01:42:06
Speaker
um As J-Man says, air falling out in an arc named radiation is terrifying, which we do get a reference to because she's like, Kinsey, you have a quiet Giger. Geiger. Geiger.
01:42:20
Speaker
guyger Yeah. Yeah. guide banner One that you check the radiation real quick. Just like real quick. Yeah. Just on just on me and everything else. scan me and everything just make sure asking for a friend but if you could do that real quick that'd be real great oh my god that is truly terrifying though like if you guys have seen chernobyl it chernobyl is like the most you hear you hear the sound if you've seen chernobyl ever since watching that show if i hear the ticking sound it sets off a fight or flight in my head that gives me
01:42:53
Speaker
It's like, o Lord. it ain't

Morality and Shard Conflict

01:42:56
Speaker
no good You could do the funniest thing right now, Michael. I know, right? No! but yeah the That's a great sound.
01:43:08
Speaker
Please, no. We just got Hannah back, Jacob. We just got her back. Yeah. Yeah. yeah um Yeah. ah But love the gestures there.
01:43:21
Speaker
Yeah, pleased to see him again.
01:43:25
Speaker
Although, it does make me a little nervous that we've spent a little bit of time with him again. yeah oh my god, and he's two days from retirement. soon yeah but Also, notice that everyone who was, you know, essentially killed in this arc were all known names, you know.
01:43:47
Speaker
Oh, this whole wing of people were wiped out. Nobody knows. Oh, it was switch hitters team died. Who cares? Who cares? So he's prepping us. will the lack. ah I really do love the wristbands and the lack of wristband situation of like so-and-so deceased, so-and-so deceased, so-and-so injured, so-and-so like that. is We don't need that morale decrease or whatever.
01:44:12
Speaker
I really love it, though. It is it because it you you need kind of need to know. Narratively, it was really doing narratively. Because otherwise it's like, oh, yes, the back line. It's like, OK, well, was the back line two people? Was the back line 10? Was the back line 120? Like, know. Was the back line the name of a dude?
01:44:34
Speaker
Exactly. We lost the back line. oh no. How many? oh no. Just the one dude. No, just the back line. it was It was switch hitters team. Team mate.
01:44:44
Speaker
Back line. Yeah. well Funny.
01:44:52
Speaker
You're well, anyways, 18, 9 and 10. righty.
01:44:57
Speaker
alrighty
01:45:00
Speaker
Natalie and Victoria compare capes and titans while spitballing ideas, and the team discusses the necessity of sacrifice as Kinsey workshops, takes a nap, and prepares to raise an unpowered army.
01:45:14
Speaker
18.10, Kinsey makes some hologram pens, Victoria records a recruiting pitch, the army is gathered and entered shard space, and the titans begin fighting back.
01:45:25
Speaker
Oh, ho ho ho baby. Mm-hmm.
01:45:32
Speaker
Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. That is her entire speech. I was uncomfortable.
01:45:47
Speaker
I... I... Hmm. Yeah. This to me felt like, a sure, we can utilize the humans, but maybe we shouldn't.
01:46:00
Speaker
Like, this seems to be a shard on shard violence situation here. Like, don't you think you've dragged the humans through enough?
01:46:13
Speaker
Like, sure, maybe they want to help, but also, like, leave them alone. What's that? They've been through enough. Fantastic. They've been through enough.
01:46:26
Speaker
Magneto quote from X-Men 3. In chess, you let the pawns go first. As he, like, stent in a certain wave of minions. Oh, yeah. hi It is so... It's such a choice. I feel... I don't feel great about it. And I think that... um ah ah Oh, my gosh. Sveta makes really good point about the whole, like... Well, you're once again, you know, you're making a decision for somebody else. And Victoria's like, well, we'll let them volunteer. And it's like, yeah, but like, if you don't volunteer, you kind of feel like an asshole. like if you didn't, if you had a chance to help save the world and you didn't take it, like, what kind of person are you? And so it puts so much additional pressure. Like, I don't know. yeah.
01:47:17
Speaker
I just feel like I don't trust Victoria quite as much ever since she came out of shard space. Suddenly she's super cozy with her shard. She called it... Okay, I don't know if it was this arc.
01:47:28
Speaker
It might have been last arc. It might have arc. I don't know. She calls it Little One. And I don't... like that it's like naming your tapeworm like i don't feel comfortable with that nickname it's like when you're reading a smut book and he calls her like my little bird i'm like don't talk to her like that she's like i thought you were gonna say but okay That was the tamest one could think of. There are others that I won't stay on live podcasting. But, like, there's a certain weirdness to it that just makes me uncomfy.
01:48:07
Speaker
And, the yeah, calling your shard, that is basically a parasite, that's actively trying to end the world, is like, calling it little one and being like,
01:48:20
Speaker
She doesn't call it precious one, but it sure does kind of feel like my precious a little bit. Like you got close thing in shard space. And

Titan Speculation and Interlude Analysis

01:48:28
Speaker
sure. Yeah, you have more control now, but like that. I don't. Yeah, I don't feel comfortable with that. I don't like it. anymore i mean, I kind of agree with I kind of agree with Jamie in a little bit because Jamie and saying they deserve the choice to participate. In my opinion, it's worse than patronizing to not tell them anything.
01:48:48
Speaker
I don't know. It's kind of both and. Yeah,
01:48:54
Speaker
yeah it's tough. Definitely tough, though. shit ah Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:49:02
Speaker
I think it's little one. Something like that. I will say. um
01:49:13
Speaker
It would not surprise me if Victoria went Titan. i i I, yeah. Yeah. i I, think Victoria has been under a lot of stress.
01:49:28
Speaker
She puts a lot of pressure on herself to do everything. She's also now after shard space, more in tune with her shard. So I could see it being a But I could see it being... I'm not going to call it quite a deus ex machina, but in the sense of, like, she becomes a titan, but willingly, and still manages to have control as a way to, like, protect...
01:49:57
Speaker
everybody from the other titans right like she's the final titan and she needs the power of a titan to destroy all the shards or something right like that's kind of where i see this going very very cap very capri-esque yeah very capri-esque which would also kind of be a little disappoint disappointing because it is very similar to that doesn't happen i know that little capri thing I'd only allow it if Amy also tightens so that Victoria can still kill Amy.
01:50:26
Speaker
Oh my god. Titan fight? The final Titan fight? That would be a amazing. That would be the best. I'd be scared of somehow Amy doing a merger. um know yeah She would try to pull that shit. and and She'd be okay if she got pulled into Victoria. That's the problem.
01:50:45
Speaker
She in a very March like fashion would be like together for forever in shard heaven. Disgusting. Absolutely not. That better not. No, I don't even want to. Titan sister. What are you doing?
01:50:59
Speaker
oh no. No, I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Fran pointed out a good Kepri parallel, though. It would be a good thing. Were we trying to say fragile one? Is that the whole thing? We're trying to say fragile fragile one? yeah probably mentioned that that it yeah She calls it fragile one as well. i I feel like fragile one is definitely what she says, but I feel like there's also a little one, but maybe it is ok they talk there There is in the interlude the talk about the little one and the loner. Okay.
01:51:34
Speaker
ah Like, I'm pretty sure that's where it gets mentioned, but it's talking about... yeah rid no It's yeah talking about what's-her-face. That's not what I'm thinking of, though. Hold on, I gotta to go beat a cat.
01:51:49
Speaker
oops Someone's getting into the food.
01:51:54
Speaker
but You just hear him, absolutely. ah let's wait for a catch and and and Fly by on screen. like No, no, no, no.
01:52:08
Speaker
Patty in his mouth. has a very bad habit of jumping up on the counter and she is she has run away with a whole bratwurst in her mouth before. so Oh my gosh. you know know so She eats real well in this house. She's an absolute monster, but you know. That's funny.
01:52:27
Speaker
How about those ah those Kenzie hologram pins that she finds a way of of of keep maintaining the tech between Byron and Tristan switching?
01:52:38
Speaker
That was really cool. I'm one step closer. Yep. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That is how Kenzie can save her character.
01:52:50
Speaker
Redeem herself. Find a way to separate our interest. in yeah I think she's going to. I really think that she can find a way to do it because she's we've we've we've done pretty well. You know, we've made strides.
01:53:06
Speaker
just Yeah, we could do it. Yeah.
01:53:15
Speaker
Any other. Any other thoughts there? think that's some good theories. Yeah. Should I go ahead and talk about Perian's trigger before we move on real quick?
01:53:28
Speaker
Yeah, if we want to follow up on that. yes um Yeah. I just realized for the the voice listeners, they're not going to know that i explained it in the chat. um Basically, Perrion triggered in college.
01:53:41
Speaker
There was a really clingy, pushy who liked her. She said no, but he still followed her around, basically called her a bitch for refusing kind of stuff. That stuff.
01:53:54
Speaker
And then at the same time, as she's having all this stress, her father passes away from a heart attack and she...
01:54:05
Speaker
Combined with sleepless nights and the stress and all that that's going on, she triggers pretty much. Yeah, Lee. and I'm not surprised. Yeah, yeah. got There you go.
01:54:18
Speaker
And unfortunately, not uncommon. Woof. She thinks her but main out is to pursue fashion and then that is part of her powers and stuff.
01:54:32
Speaker
and Yeah, yeah. Anyways. Interesting. Yeah. Yes, thank you. Yeah, yeah.
01:54:44
Speaker
Well. Interlude. Into the unknown. Alrighty. Into the unknown. 18Z Interlude, The Titans.
01:54:56
Speaker
so eighteen z interlude the titans
01:55:02
Speaker
Hunter crosses the border, meets a friend, and meets Amy. Titan Arachne battles the goddess giant. Augur fights his way out of an ambush.
01:55:14
Speaker
Titan Augur uses the machine army and runs from a fight. The loner's eye attaches to Fortuna. Titan Fortuna precognitively duels the Simurgh.
01:55:32
Speaker
This was a cool interlude. I wasn't i wasn't expecting be in this interlude. i was trying to I was wondering who we were going to get as things were going on and But this was a cool one.
01:55:45
Speaker
I actually didn't like it all that much, to be honest. o What didn't you like about it? I didn't like the um the Titan perspectives. It's very abstract, and I have a hard time grasping what's happening.
01:55:57
Speaker
um Also, the back and forth, ah little past-present jumps. always catch me completely off guard and i it takes me a bit too long to recognize oh oh okay okay okay to realize and then i'm like oh okay wait no i almost feel like okay i have to go back and reread it again with this different frame of mind and i i don't i didn't i didn't really uh enjoy being in the head of the titans uh i liked I liked the past bits um being in, um oh gosh, what's her name?
01:56:34
Speaker
Rackney. ah What is her name? Arachne's human name. Hunter. Hunter. Thank you. I wanted to call her that.
01:56:45
Speaker
Yeah. Hunter crossing the border, making friends with Sam. like I really liked that a lot. um But once we get into like the Titan head, like the Titan Arachne in her head, like that's ah yeah losing me quite a bit.
01:57:03
Speaker
um i felt like half of this arc I was like zoning in and out of. This was definitely one to read. i know I normally listen to them all. I happen to read this interlude and I that was probably the right move because I listened to half it and I read the other half because I was like, I need to understand what's going on.
01:57:24
Speaker
Yeah. Very. ah Yeah, like it's all over the place. lot of back and forth. um Yeah, very interesting. I like I like the perspectives.
01:57:36
Speaker
But it is it's a it's a jarring read for sure.
01:57:42
Speaker
Hey, but we got some more machine army. We did, finally. We did get a bit more machine army. Augurs fighting them and using them as parts. Yeah. um And we get a ah glimpse Valkyrie almost.
01:57:56
Speaker
eat bites the dust in an interlude thank goodness she made it out alive because I was like oh crap yeah but we really need to keep alive it's Valkyrie kind of because like yeah like no lie if everybody dies like she is the human arc like Yeah. yeah yeah yeah Really need to focus on keeping her around. like Put her in whatever cryostasis, shoot her you know in a slingshot orbit, come back to Earth you know in 50 years.
01:58:30
Speaker
But she can you know start rebuilding the human race in a manner of speaking. so yeah Has anyone seen yeah the movie Knowing?
01:58:41
Speaker
ah no I'm not going to spoil it. I'm not going to spoil it because it is legitimately awful and everyone should experience it. um But this sounds like the ending to that movie. So I'll just leave it at that. The knowing? That's encouraging.
01:58:57
Speaker
No, just knowing. Just knowing. Oh, knowing. It's Nicolas Cage knows what's going to happen. because Literally. Oh, great. Okay. You can imagine how insufferable Nicolas Cage is, but he knows. Yeah.
01:59:11
Speaker
Nicolas Cage is the only reason you're watching the movie in the first place. oh Which I will watch for the record with anybody who ever wants to. I'll sit down and watch it. Okay, i ready good to know. but it did Only in the drinking game. big graham Come down for movie night some night and we'll watch it. Okay, real quick question.
01:59:29
Speaker
Do you think it's a better viewing experience? A worse viewing experience than Ice Cube's War of the World? Oh, it is a worse way worse experience. Oh, no, no. didn't no no i i will say movie. I didn't say a worse movie. I said, is it a worse viewing experience?
01:59:53
Speaker
No, flip those, because, like, The War the Worlds is a worse movie by far, but it is a much better viewing experience. Okay, that's the... I was just making sure. Just making sure. Yeah. All right. Well, gotcha. Okay. Dang. right I'm scared.
02:00:05
Speaker
Knowing is a technically better movie, but a worse viewing experience is what you're seeing. That sounds bad. Fabulous. Sign me up immediately.
02:00:17
Speaker
but Back on track. Yeah. Yeah. um Yeah, I don't know. This was a weird interlude. I'm kind of half and half on it where I'm like the Titan Arachne stuff, the fight with the goddess giant um was kind of interesting.
02:00:34
Speaker
The machine army stuff was really interesting. But of course, what really stood out was the last bit with Fortuna where it's that pre-cognitive battle where we realize, oh, the Simurg is aiming for control of everything.
02:00:49
Speaker
and And basically has a similar power to Fortuna in that she's like, oh, if I try this, the Simmer ends up with control of everything.
02:01:00
Speaker
But if we try this, the Simmer ends up with control of everything. And it's just like repetitive. Like, I really liked that part of like, oh, there's more going on here. And it's maybe a lot more hopeless than we realize it is is on par for a word. It's like, yeah, ah you thought things were going well. No, it's worse than you ever thought it was before.
02:01:20
Speaker
you know yeah and it's terrible it's it gave me gave my fun theory now is that the Simurg and the reason why she's not dormant is because the Simurg is actually the the left what's left of Eden that's alive and trying to save what what they can yeah exactly No, the final little the little pre-cog battle was great.
02:01:52
Speaker
And Fortuna realizing like, oh, I can't... If I think out the plan, then the Simberg is going to latch onto that and and force a win. So like, I just have to be like, path victory, create path, but don't tell me what it is. Just create the path at the end. It's like, there we go. That'll work.
02:02:13
Speaker
Yeah. yeah I also think it's interesting that... It seems I'm not sure if this is exactly. What.
02:02:24
Speaker
This was implying. Is it implying that. um What's her name? Wow. Contessa's power was a gift from a badden to the pair. Yes.
02:02:38
Speaker
That is what it's implying, right? Because it mentions the loner, which we talked about the loner as a badden. yeahp um And so it says... did make that connection all? Okay. This is why he... The loner's eye, among millions of other parts and graces and favors, the loner traveled away taking care to leave a breadcrumb creel that would ensure he and his kind would not return back this way until galaxies had been born anew.

Speaker
The forward-looking eye was dropped in a rush and... It was picked up by a primitive who looked through it and saw the pair. It approached the pair. And so basically it's like, um and basically it's like they, that forward looking eye,
02:03:23
Speaker
was Fortuna's power. So basically she's the only one who has shard of a badden. It seems is what that's implying. Well, there was, it feels like it's more strictly badden's because the, you know, they did the whole thing where they exchanged a bunch.
02:03:40
Speaker
Um, yeah, And which is like Eden's over there, like essentially a bad and has given Eden a happy meal. And, but she is still driving the car and then she's like sorting through what's in her meal.
02:03:55
Speaker
And she's like, Ooh, I'm going to have some straight. And then she crash lands because she's like, i and, you know, ah Zion's in the, you know, in the passenger seat, like, honey, can you handle all of that?
02:04:07
Speaker
And she's like, no, I got this. Don't even worry about it. And then just drive straight into planet Earth. Much like Taylor's mom. was going to say, I made a meme and it got me banned. The parallel is incredible. Did you really?
02:04:19
Speaker
it the parallel incredible and really yeah manmo and on reddit I got banned on Reddit ah again for like, I don't know what the time, when like the worm memes for making, like like what's the difference between these two pictures? And one is like a giant worm monster crashing into earth and the other is like a woman on her phone. And it just says like, Ms. Hebert. Oh my God. And couple people were like, yeah, it's crazy, the parallels.
02:04:56
Speaker
Sometimes I think to myself, huh, it's so strange that we just, you know, are no longer allowed to post in the worm subreddit. And then I remember why.
02:05:07
Speaker
i They hate me there. They hate me there so much. i I don't know why. i i just got to make more. I just got to make more custom magic cards. I'll get back in there. Good grace. Yeah. You do fine. You're custom. They love because they did that. And then somebody else did a couple more like iterations. They love that. um Yeah. Yeah.
02:05:29
Speaker
what happened. That's fine. I'd love to talk to a mod. Anybody knows a mod, please send me. I was grateful at one point in time. i believe Wildbo said something about how like the mods go through like revolving you know door a lot of times just because it's a lot of work and whatnot.
02:05:50
Speaker
And they tend to be very um arbitrary with what how they process stuff. And You know, i think it, you know, it doesn't unban when the mods shift, you know, the change of the guard. So.
02:06:10
Speaker
Well, yeah there's even an early time with our podcast where I was like, hey, we got shadow banned for some reason. No idea why other people post podcast stuff here, too. Don't know why we got banned.
02:06:24
Speaker
and they were like, yeah all of a sudden we were unbanned. I'm like, okay, post another one immediately banned again. i was like It would be nice to know if it was like, hey, don't promote your podcast. And we'd be like, oh, that's the other thing. If that's what it is. But like that clearly literally no, no saying what rule was broken.
02:06:44
Speaker
i even asked. They got nothing. ah what What are you going to do It is what it is. It's the Internet. It's Reddit. I can never explain Reddit. Fortunately, we don't have the Reddit ah loner's eye.
02:06:57
Speaker
Right? Exactly. What would get my ass banned? Way to bring it back. The path to Reddit victory. Yeah. That's so good.
02:07:10
Speaker
Oh my gosh. Yeah. Okay. So that is... ah Fran says um that that was known. i knew we know that Abaddon and Eden met, but we didn't know exactly what gifts were passed on, I don't think.
02:07:24
Speaker
So apparently there's a subreddit called r slash birdcage, which I'm guessing is like the... I don't feel as if we should just hop around. Oh, thank you, Ethan. I need to know that because... Oh, no. Boy, howdy. Are they about to get hit with some unhinged shit? No, please.
02:07:42
Speaker
Please just tell him to me. There's no law in the bird cage. God damn right there isn't. No law against Pokemon, Batman. feel like Alex is going to shadow drop some some patron content that's just like speed running Reddit bans. See how many worm associated Reddits I can get banned from.
02:08:05
Speaker
no please don't. I hate that. Why not? I've already banned from a couple of them Why not go for like the trifecta while I'm at it? yeah Might as well. Might as well at this point.
02:08:17
Speaker
I want them to like us. Yeah, that'd be nice. I also would like them to like us, but they don't. And that's something I can't, you know, help.
02:08:27
Speaker
So at this point, we're just going for 100%. This is just his villain arc where he did nothing wrong at first. Then he like got banned anyways. And now he's like, I'll do with the worst thing then. I'll give you a reason to have anything wrong. ah Nothing but right.
02:08:45
Speaker
I love it. I love it. Alright, let's keep talking about this. we got I'm not the villain. They are. well Those mods are pig-etting me and and I am just i am just a i'm just a girl just trying to do the right thing for my city.
02:09:04
Speaker
As we've learned from now. I will kill you. As we've learned tonight, Alan is just a girl and Hannah is a straight man. The persecution I go through. Exactly.

Community Interaction and Character Morality

02:09:15
Speaker
What was that name? As we've learned tonight, Alan is just a girl and Hannah is a straight man, apparently. yeah's and If I've said it once.
02:09:29
Speaker
Her mic is cutting out so hard. but God, I hope I start clapping. it's but yeah Oh, good. That's great.
02:09:40
Speaker
Hannah's voice starts clipping when she's a agreeing with you enthusiastically. Oh, my God. She agrees with me so much.
02:09:48
Speaker
The audio listeners are so confused. I'm making big exes with my arms so that everyone knows, even if I'm clipping out. um Fabulous.
02:10:00
Speaker
Okay. Well, um where were we we did have a serious question from Bernard. ah Do we think that Contessa or the Simmer will win? And which would be better for our heroes if between the two?
02:10:16
Speaker
um And i I feel like the better option is the third option, which is none of the above. Win, please. um But if if I had to pick, we...
02:10:29
Speaker
We know that some Titans are on humanity side. Now, Contessa has been sketchy, as we've discussed. So it is a question of what are her intentions and are they shard intentions or are they human intentions?
02:10:44
Speaker
Based on the fact that the Simurg, like Jacob said, is basically a manifestation from a shard. I'm going to trust Contessa like 1% more than the Simmer.
02:10:57
Speaker
oh you know um While you're probably right, I just want to put my fate in the hands of the Simmer just constantly. I i thought you were going i thought you were gonna say you wanted to put your face in the Simmer somehow. and that's I also.
02:11:14
Speaker
I mean, it's like it like same. he you you Who doesn't? but I mean Mommy Hello I've got some got You're wondering why we got banned yeah
02:11:40
Speaker
sorry I cannot be the only one who looks at the Simurg and thinks mommy and am I know i mean I mean just real quick show a hands and real quick show hands who who looks a ready we're going to do it on three Hannah it'll be perfectly fine just yeah we just trust the process ready one to three what what was that worry about it. Nick, why don't you continue?
02:12:06
Speaker
For the audio listeners, Hannah was the only one who put up her hand. Nick joined her, but I was a pity pity left. Yeah, and no i I was in my head. I immediately thought, oh, I'm just not going to put my hand up as a bit.
02:12:19
Speaker
Nick, you had the correct idea. It was a bit. None of were to put our hands up except for Hannah, which is why she put her hand up and we all laughed. didn't actually put my hand up. I would like to. But the audio listeners don't know that. And see, Hannah, this is why you're straight man.
02:12:34
Speaker
exactly damn it Yeah, we didn't get any of this content last time. Right? like I'm telling you, she draw she like pulls it out of us.
02:12:45
Speaker
like true Victim blaming. was one but you know I know, I'm getting blamed this whole time for stuff when we know that it's Hannah who's going off the track. I'm the victim here.
02:12:58
Speaker
I'm literally just a girl named Amy. Oh no! We all want to kill you. and Oh my gosh. Wow. oh this has been fun god Oh my gosh. What were we even talking about? I don't even know. Simurg versus Contessa. Who would I want to win?
02:13:21
Speaker
ah or the simmer i guess the simmerg who's probably going to win I feel like she's on our side. Like, she's fought for us before. I feel like our side. And the thing is, is again, like, is Contessa with us or not? And if the Simurgh is opposed to her, and I'm assuming that Contessa is against us, then let's go Simurgh. Also, Tommy, like, let's go Simurgh. Can't even, always, I know.
02:13:53
Speaker
listen it is a constant struggle for me when I'm trying to decide which worm tattoo I'm going to get if it's going to be a beetle or if it's going to be Simurg it is a struggle I talked to a tattoo artist last week and we're discussing things and I'm I need to decide soon and I don't know no lost us I know, right? I actually kind of want to wait until we're done with Ward because I would like to get them maybe incorporated into one tattoo situation. We'll see.
02:14:23
Speaker
I don't know. Yeah, wouldn't it be the awful if you got a tattoo of the Simurgh and then like the final interlude is her just coming out being like a racist or something? I know. Oh my god, she's using all her Tinker technology to build a bomb, but it's just an N-bomb.
02:14:40
Speaker
and What? The Simurg? Hypothetically. The Simurg just flies above the world and just telepathically sends out a message to all humans and it's just, Kaiser was right. No!
02:14:54
Speaker
You would like that, wouldn't you? You sick metal-bending fuck. It's true. oh my yeah' already here first folks listen listen i've liked two fascist metal benders in my lifetime and that's two is not a lot but it's not a lot but is what but that's why sorry dick speak i mean one of them's kaiser he's got cool powers speaking of mommies the other is kuvira from avatar one of the only good villains they had

Podcast Wrap-Up and Future Plans

02:15:29
Speaker
What do mean? No, I'm just kidding. that's not She was like objectively one of the worst ones. Actually, she's one of worst ones. I didn't like her. She's very unlikable. I don't like her at all. Yeah, no, no, no. Her powers. I did like Nick, by the way, the power. The powers are cool. Yeah.
02:15:48
Speaker
Powers are cool. um um ah Sure. That's what we're looking at. Yeah. Nick over here watching Game of Thrones for the plot, too, I'm sure.
02:15:59
Speaker
Alright, think we answered the question. Let's move on. yeah Listen, it's not it's not my fault that every time I walked in on Michael watching Game of Thrones, somebody was sucking somebody's dick. It's like... yeah but Damn! Damn!
02:16:12
Speaker
Not Michael sitting there with a pause button waiting like... I was gonna say! it like yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's crazy. It only actually happens once in the show, but he kept playing it on repeat. Yeah.
02:16:26
Speaker
that was That was back back when i watched Game of Thrones by myself because people didn't like it for some, like didn't know about the show. yep I was watching season one by myself and then then like season two everyone like, oh yeah, have you heard of Game of Thrones? i'm like, guys, I've been telling you to watch it with me.
02:16:43
Speaker
For like a year. No, you're you're also absolutely my right. finally watched Game Thrones in my dorm room without anyone else because I didn't know how to explain that to any of my dorm people. Yeah, that's fair. 100%. You are absolutely correct. Anytime somebody walked into your dorm room, it was during a sex scene. had to explain like, it's not porn, it's HBO.
02:17:06
Speaker
Yeah. That's exactly it. yeah No, there's a there's important plot that happens in these conversations. Some of the most important plots, some of the nastiest bits. You're like, really?
02:17:19
Speaker
The scene you're talking about, like though they're literally talking about like dethroning someone during that scene. And was like, I have to, Nick. I have to. Yeah. I need to know what happens. I need to know. Oh my gosh. Yes, but Michael, you don't have to be two inches away from the TV to know what happens. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:17:39
Speaker
love it. I love it. The notebook. ah Oh, oh, oh.
02:17:47
Speaker
Okay, Nick, that sound was enough. I think we are so far past. Listen, if we were still still in the clipping the sound age of this podcast, that would have been clipped so damn fast.
02:18:00
Speaker
I also love, i started a debate about Korra villains in our chat that we've not acknowledged. They're talking about all the villains of like, who's the worst in Korra?
02:18:14
Speaker
I appreciate you guys. um I could talk about my... come join Come join the chat if you want to know these kind of conversations. yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah. Basically, like, whether is Kuvira worse than Amon and the and um ah what's Zaheer?
02:18:31
Speaker
i will say of the four villains um that are in the four seasons of Korra, um i do I do like Amon. I liked Amon for what he was for the first season.
02:18:45
Speaker
I wish he'd lasted long term. I like Zaheer as well. Season 2 guy was bad. Yeah, I don't remember even his name. It was the spiritual... The spirit guy. And then... Yeah.
02:18:58
Speaker
and I mean, first off, Zaheer did nothing wrong. So we can just mark him down as top villain. um Yeah, Zaheer was great. um Jacob's like, I'm tired, guys. guys I'm tired. I'm ready to go. We could we could talk about we could talk about Avatar and Korra. I did just finish Avatar The Last Airbender a few months ago with my son.
02:19:24
Speaker
Super fun. i had a great time. I'm not going to tell him Legend of Korra exists anytime soon. I love it. So. i love it
02:19:35
Speaker
Alrighty, but there is a movie and a fighting game coming out, which I'm kind of excited about. I know the movie got leaked, but I haven't actually watched the leak. I want to watch it officially. Yeah, support the artists who worked on it.
02:19:47
Speaker
Exactly. So, valid um, nope, cat on screen. All right. I think that wraps us up. Um, we can all agree quickly that switch hitter slash Titan Scotty are the best powers showcased in this arc, I think.
02:20:02
Speaker
Um, and Alan, bingo.
02:20:07
Speaker
Very nice. Trying to finish before 1030. So we can avoid that square. That'll be close. Well, if we're going to go over the bingo tonight, ah we successfully, I did not get up and go so close.
02:20:23
Speaker
um We had Alan Rantz, cat on screen, Michael has to reel them in, big gun is cool, fuck shortcut, goddamn McKenzie, gun deck is cool, and forgot about the machine army for a hot second.
02:20:34
Speaker
What we did not get was Perian would have made a great a Slaughterhouse Nine member, Hannah cries, technical difficulties, Jacob being a cinephile, Nick going full teacher slash parent, a World Cup mention going past 1030, and who is that again? 1030. Yeah. I don't know if you would want to count my ah knowing rant as being a cinephile, but... You know what? yeah The fact that he brought us a movie that nobody knows about, I think, yeah.
02:21:04
Speaker
Nobody knows about Everybody knows about the knowing. Nobody's watched it, except for Jake. I didn't know. The day the earth stood still with, what is it, Keanu Reeves?
02:21:16
Speaker
they were Yeah, the remake. Yeah. that's Nobody watched it. That was rough. It's right next to, what's the other one where the guys um also, there's there's another one in between those two where a guy also knows the future of what's about to happen. Hmm.
02:21:37
Speaker
I'll look that up later. So what do next time? Next time? Seeing as we're heading into the penultimate arc.
02:21:48
Speaker
Crazy. Crazy stuff. Wild. Wild bow, even. um I think we do 19.1 19.6. you know nineteen point one to nineteen point six
02:22:06
Speaker
Everybody free on the 27th halfway point? Yeah. 27th? I'm... Are we breaking this into two sections are we breaking it into three for arc 19? I was going to break it into two. It'd be about ah ah about 60,000. We usually do about 50,000 anyway. so yeah We got an week because we only had
02:22:34
Speaker
the last you know three weeks basically yeah they've been true arcs and we'll we'll basically just do these two and two yeah so we're we're we're like what two months away from being done with ward Yep.
02:22:50
Speaker
And then, of course, we've got to do our breakdowns, and then Jacob and I got to rewrite Ward. i think we'll get significantly less shit for... um so You underestimate the internet.
02:23:05
Speaker
ah Here's the thing. They already wanted it to be rewritten. um Unlike Wyrm, like, ah you know, Ward got so much hate. I think we're we're in the clear for... Are you guys actually doing that? Are we actually doing that? Not not a whole podcast, like, just an episode, like, of us. An episode discussed. More an episode!
02:23:24
Speaker
Okay. Oh, my God. You know what we used to do? We're, like, hour-long episodes on that. That's true. We'd just sit here and talk about what what we would have, like, cut, essentially. that's what happens you know that's content we can make the patron exclusively want that way we don't get yelled at as much uh you know show up live and tell us what we did wrong i like it even better oh that i would take live yeah i would i think that would be a great live input one um also i'll plug again we played a little game called wormnesia uh you know worm trivia show i'm thinking about you know maybe trying to incorporate uh some of the fans to that maybe do it sort of uh who wants to be a millionaire style where you can like pull the uh pull chat the audience you know listen i don't remember jack shit but you know who does that's right it's chat that's right hanna his his name is jack slash not jack shit oh my god god
