Speaker
Bitch, I'm in the...
00:00:31
Speaker
i and What's happening ladies and gentlemen, my name is Brian and with me always I'm Mark. Hey Mark, what's happening man? How are you? I'm good.
00:00:43
Speaker
I have this complexion issue going on right now. I don't know what's going on with my lighting. I've tried like hell to get this shit fixed. It's not the lighting. you were just outside for too long. It's not me dude. Listen, I'm a redneck and whatnot, but I'm not, you know, i wasn't outside all day today. I promise.
00:01:02
Speaker
We live in Florida. You're going to get sun any which way. Oh, yeah. 100%. So.

Recap of Previous Show

00:01:09
Speaker
So let's talk real quick about last week. Recap last week.
00:01:13
Speaker
We had a couple of guys on the show. Do you remember who that was? ah Rick Collins and Johnny. Necro. Yeah. There you go.
00:01:27
Speaker
So we want to thank those guys again for coming on and check out everything that they got going on. um And then this week we talked about it.

Teasing Upcoming Guest

00:01:38
Speaker
Mary Kate's watching now. So now we got to announce who who the who the guest is, I guess. Oh, we don't have to. i mean, it took me three years to get him on our show. Yeah. what What took so long?
00:01:50
Speaker
um He wanted to play hard to get. ah ah That's terrible. Uh, no, I mean, we first, uh, we first, we had, uh, Amber Brooke on, uh, three years ago.
00:02:09
Speaker
Um, and she was talking about, uh, her boyfriend at the time that they were going to go get, uh, tattoos that night. And then after that, she told us that he had a, a band and I'm like, okay, well, what's the band? She said, it ah until I wake.
00:02:27
Speaker
Okay. I started listening to their music. I'm like, okay. I kept asking him, asking him. He said, uh, after I'm done with this tour. And then I forgot for a little

Band's Music Style and Formation

00:02:39
Speaker
bit.
00:02:39
Speaker
So, and then finally, you know, he was on at the beginning of the year, uh, when you weren't on Brian, um, he played, uh, Florida or not Florida with us ah a little bit.
00:02:52
Speaker
And then, uh, After that, he told me once his tour was over to get ahold of him, I finally did. And there. Now, listen, I'm a music lover. I just don't know much about music. So what kind of music does he play?
00:03:06
Speaker
To me, i consider it heavy metal. Well, let's bring him on and we'll ask Austin or excuse me, August, what kind of music it is actually considered? What genre, what genre of music August is?
00:03:23
Speaker
your band playing? Is it hard? Is it heavy rock? Is it heavy metal? Is it hard rock? Is it alternative? What do you guys classify it as? Man, I never know how to answer that question 100% to be honest, because we always just play so many different genres, I feel like but I guess if anyone were to describe it, it's like post hardcore metalcore, you know, and I always just call it rock with some metal.
00:03:50
Speaker
So, okay, And it just reminds me of heavy metal, what it used to be. Yeah, it's a million modern metal, metalcore, whatever the hell you want to call it. It's all just a conglomerate of genres.
00:04:04
Speaker
Mary-Kate said, have a fantastic show, everyone. Such a badass guest. Hell yeah. And there's Miss Amanda saying, hello, everyone. What's happening, guys?
00:04:15
Speaker
um Cool. ah So... your job and in the band and how did you how did you find this band or or whose band is this band kind of thing? Like how did it all come about?
00:04:29
Speaker
Yeah. So um basically my bass player Ryan and I, we had a project before Until I Wake and oh it kind of went is downhill as quick as it went up.
00:04:44
Speaker
We had hopes that it was, you know, we were talking to management companies and had labels in mind and it was really promising. And um unfortunately it just kind of fell apart real fast. And so i think we kind of just like took eight months away from music really as a whole. And then this would have been back in like 20, think 2018. And then Ryan hits me up and he's like, hey, I started this band, you know, I'd really like you to come on board, you know, see if you're interested.

Band Dynamics and Touring Challenges

00:05:18
Speaker
i'm like, yeah, yeah, absolutely. You know, I wasn't doing anything else. um
00:05:23
Speaker
And then basically, one thing led to another. He got Cody on board um and Cody was like, yeah, let's do it. And we started making trips back and forth to Michigan doing songs and um releasing singles and kind of all history from there, really. Technically it's Ryan's, Ryan's band. He's, he started it and then, ah but we've all been there from the beginning. So,
00:05:52
Speaker
Nobody's come in in the mix and the fold here recently, or you got new people come what's happening there? Yup. So right now, technically it's just the three piece, Ryan, Cody and myself, um which the three of us are original members, but we do have a fill-in drummer. um He's our good friend Jesse from Vampires Everywhere.
00:06:16
Speaker
um And he's you know been crushing it for us. um And then we had a second guitarist, Nico, for a while. He actually did our second album with us.
00:06:28
Speaker
And um we yeah actually, for anybody who doesn't know, we had a different vocalist for about a year. Cody had to step out for a little while and handle some other personal things with his life. And so we had Jolly, he's a good friend of ours, and he did the second album with us as well. And he actually had to step out for personal reasons. And now we have Cody back.
00:06:55
Speaker
Well, damn it, man. It's crazy. It's been a wild ride, man. It's been wild ride. like is is that Is that typical when it comes to to having or starting a band? Is it typical to have people like, hey, we started with like three, then we went to four, then we're back to three? or is is that Is that typical? Because I hear that, you know, we've heard that quite a few times with with some of the bands.
00:07:21
Speaker
I think it is, man. I think honestly, like when you start, like, especially with how fast this really kind of like grew, but faster than we expected it to. And we kind of got thrown into these tour opportunities and like, you have to learn to live with each other on the road, you know, you go from just kind of, hey, let's meet up and like, let's write some songs or let's go to the studio, you know, every weekend or whatever. But then you're on the road for six weeks at a time living with each other multiple times out of the year. And people find out like, hey, maybe it's not for me or, you know, maybe it's too much or maybe can't deal with one another. You know, it could be any number of things, man. And. um
00:08:07
Speaker
You know, and and certain some people have kids, some people have other life obligations outside of the band, and they realize that it's too difficult to be away from that. So um there's so many factors that come into, you know, choosing to step away or not, you know, and I think for Cody, Ryan and myself, we've just kind of It's been hard. It's been real hard, but you know, like we've just kind of stuck to it.
00:08:35
Speaker
Even Cody, even him outside of the, you know, being outside the band for a year, he's still stuck to music. He was working on another project, you know, so. So you build like this brotherhood going on the road. you're You're on the road for like six weeks. So I'm going to say that it To anybody that wants to start a band, I guess if you join the military and you can hang out with those guys for six months, you might make it as a band.
00:09:05
Speaker
I think so. I think so. yeah i Listen, I get it. Six weeks a long time. Do you guys do like hotels and stuff like that? You crash at hotels, motels, that kind of thing. And you're like, okay, listen, I want the big bed. You've got to sleep on the couch.
00:09:22
Speaker
you guys take turns? No. I think I can actually count on one hand the amount of times we've gotten a hotel since we've toured. And we've been touring for going on, well, this is our fifth year. um Luckily, so our first two tours were the worst.
00:09:38
Speaker
they They were the worst for sure. We toured in a SUV and the first tour was luckily only two weeks. We had a tow behind camper, which we popped up and, you know, would sleep in that. um And then the second tour, we had a trailer with military cots in it, but the military cots were all old and like rotted and everything. So we got to sleep on them for maybe like three or four nights and then everybody started and falling through the military cots on top of each other.
00:10:08
Speaker
So that didn't last long. So we started just sleeping in the SUV because we were so broke, we couldn't, we weren't making any money at all. So we were, but and like there was gas money. So for three and a half weeks, I think, or four weeks, whatever it was, we had to sit, like we we slept where we sat in the SUV seats and my photographer and I,
00:10:32
Speaker
had the very back the storage area and, uh, this is like a Chevy Yukon or which EMC Yukon, whatever the hell they are. Yeah. Snuggled up nut to butt every night in the back of this thing, because all the other guys had the rest of the seats, but nowadays we're, we're in a much more comfortable situation. So we got an RV.
00:10:55
Speaker
got an rv Yeah, big ass RV too. So it's. Oh shit. Oh shit. See you you're coming up, right? The tour bus. We're to call it the tour bus. Yes. Nice. Nice.
00:11:05
Speaker
Yeah, because you got to have a place to store your equipment and stuff like that. You have to. So I got to ask them, you know, the brotherhood, we're where does it get to be where you guys get fed up with one another? And I know you're not getting fed up. You just kind of get agitated. They're like, dude,
00:11:24
Speaker
I gotta look at you one more damn day is it Is it the closeness? Is it because of the closeness?
00:11:35
Speaker
The first, I feel like for any band, I feel like the first couple of years, like two or three years, is probably the hardest because you really are learning to live with each other. And um you're you're... learning to not have as much personal space, you know, or zero personal space. um And that was really hard. We had a lot of fights, a lot of bickering, a lot of arguments, a lot of bullshit for a while, you know, like any band probably does. But there seems to be this shift at some point where everybody like starts learning each other and starts learning to respect each other's boundaries and realizes like, okay, clearly like,
00:12:18
Speaker
they need their own space, you know? So, you know, and if you if you know you need your own space, generally, thankfully, we have a more comfortable situation now. So one of us can just go fuck off into our bunk or into the back lounge area or go take a walk or whatever, you know? So it's at the point now where we know each other well enough where it's like,
00:12:41
Speaker
we really don't like have many situations where

Songwriting and Genre Exploration

00:12:45
Speaker
it's we get fed up with each other like by the end of a tour we're ready to go the hell home and be like all right see you the fuck later but like it's very rare that we ever have like you know we bicker here and there like dudes do but like it's not yeah dudes dudes don't really bicker we just go go fuck yourself okay you go fuck yourself yeah exactly but if you if you're if you're in like a if you're like in a mood like that you might as well be married to the mubuker right so yeah um let's talk about songwriting yeah who writes the songs do you have input um have you written any of your own that that gets put out there um or anything that you're working on that's going to get put out there
00:13:34
Speaker
Right, so um in the beginning, it was very heavy handed by our friend John. He actually plays for I Prevail now. He plays bass. Oh wow.
00:13:45
Speaker
And um yeah, so he's a really strong, strong songwriter. And so he had a very heavy hand in our most of our early stuff.
00:13:57
Speaker
But we had you know Ryan, myself, and Cody, yeah obviously Cody. Cody writes all his own vocals and has a pretty heavy control of that. And we would all have plenty of say in everything and you know write what we wanted to write. But we all everybody had that mentality of,
00:14:17
Speaker
You know, like don't get married to an idea just because you're married to the idea, you know, like. Be open to something else. Yeah. If if something, ah if someone else's idea is better for the song and makes the song better, then we go with that, you know.
00:14:34
Speaker
So and luckily, everybody's really, really good about that. You know, we don't have anybody in the band who's like, who's like, no, fuck you. It's my way or the highway, you know. So um that's really cool.
00:14:47
Speaker
but nowadays um so the second album we actually worked on with landon tours of the plot and you he's an amazing amazing producer um and oh i can't forget our buddy nick he's our producer now uh and was our producer for the first all of our first catalog of work before the second album and uh he's just absolutely incredible at what he does um but yeah uh nico our ex guitar player he wrote a lot on the second album and of course jolly he wrote a lot of the vocals and now it's just uh cody uh ryan and myself and our producer nick working on the third album and uh we're really excited about it very cool because it's probably the most like um it's probably the most like
00:15:43
Speaker
How do I want to, what's the word I'm looking for? It's literally just the core of the band with our producer. No external songwriters, you know, nothing like that as of right now. So.
00:15:56
Speaker
Okay. Would it be something that you guys would be interested in having in the future? Like, hey, we should probably just get like a songwriter or um add somebody to the band that can not just do that, but do other stuff.
00:16:11
Speaker
we're always open to something like that. Like like i said, you know if it if we know it's going to make the songs better yeah and really make them pop, or even just to put some touches on the songs that it's really that's really going to, whether it's a melody or a guitar lead or or us some production elements that we might not have thought of, something that's just really going to make it pop, then yeah, we would be completely open to that for sure.
00:16:37
Speaker
Brian, are you are you pitching for a new job? always listen I I've written one song and my buddy played it and then unfortunately i gave him all the stuff for it and then he passed away so that's a song that will just live with him where he is that now so that's it I've I've done one you love the song and all I did was lyrics I i mean obviously I don't know anything about chords or anything like that that that wasn't was like hey I got I got some lyrics you want to check this out
00:17:11
Speaker
I mean, the dude just carried it. and It was absolutely phenomenal. um the Do you guys do any covers? No. No, we don't.
00:17:23
Speaker
It's not that we're necessarily opposed to it. It's just it's never we've always just grabbed it. Oh, yeah. My wife, Amber, just reminded me we actually lied.
00:17:33
Speaker
We did do one. um Who was i want for christmas All I Want for Christmas by who, though? is it by and mariah carey I think it's Mariah Carey, right? All I Want for Christmas? Yeah. Anyway, so we did cover that one, and it's sick. Go check it out if you haven't heard it, because it's badass. but um Is it a Christmas song?
00:17:56
Speaker
It's a Christmas song, but it's like a riffer, dude. It's fucking cool. It's sick. Yeah, now I'm going to have to go find it. Yeah, it's cool. How do you feel about other genres of music? um Are you indifferent? Do you love all kinds of music?
00:18:12
Speaker
would you incorporate any of that Would you incorporate any other music into your to your stuff that you guys are doing kind of like, uh, so here in Florida, I don't know if you've ever heard of these guys, but, um, scratch and sniff, you ever heard of scratch and stuff?
00:18:29
Speaker
No, I don't think I have actually. So they're DJs that do rock rap and they co-mingle them together and they're absolutely phenomenal. Like you'll get some, you'll get like sleep theory, but then you'll get like ice cube in there as well. And it's like, what the hell dude, this is fucking bad-ass.
00:18:48
Speaker
That's really sick. Yeah. Yeah, i I love all genres of music, man. i i I listen to everything under the sun. um You know, it's... it's
00:19:02
Speaker
I feel like it's tough. I would love to combine so much into our music, but it's it's really difficult to... like I'm a huge Southern rock fan. I fucking love Southern rock. um But it's really kind of difficult to figure out how to blend that tastefully with our genre of music, you know? Because um some of our other guys, they might not like Southern rock, you know? And then like...
00:19:26
Speaker
I feel like what's been easiest for us is to blend like pop and hip hop elements into our music. We do a lot of that, you know, because we're all fans of pop and hip hop and that's, that's a pretty easy thing to blend in with rock and metal.
00:19:39
Speaker
Um, but yeah, like I said, I love Southern rock. I listened to a lot of that. Um, I listened to a lot of, um, I don't even know what you call like Basically like, yellow you know who Yellow Wolf is? Oh, absolutely. yeah Of course. yeah So I love all, he has so his music's all over the fucking place. yeah And I love it. you know I love all kinds of shit like that. so ah I am polyjamorous. I love all music. I love that. I love that. That's cool. That's creative.
00:20:15
Speaker
um If there was any bands that have retired or any uh anything that you could have been a part of august who what band would you want to be be a part of i know you said southern rock is is kind of like your thing like you would do that so would you like a southern rock band and be like i want to be a part of that band Yeah, I would, I would absolutely love to do like someday i would love to, you know, when until I wake is kind of like, like not such a, when we're not grinding so hard on until I wake and it's not such a focal point of our lives. I do eventually want to start like a, just a like side, you know, just a small fun Southern rock project. But yeah, I think it'd probably be a Southern rock band for sure.
00:21:04
Speaker
ae any anyone in particular or any any band in particular just like that yellow wolf style is that what you mean something like that no more like like allman brothers okay okay okay yeah yeah skinner you know of course allman brothers for sure uh marshall tucker band like shit like that okay yeah gotcha all right fantastic um what is your What is your job in the band? You're the bassist, right?
00:21:35
Speaker
Guitar player. you're the You're a guitar player. Okay. So you're the lead guitarist. uh i kind of do both to be honest because i'm the only guitar player yep um we did have a second guitar player nico for a while and he would kind of we would just kind of play a little bit of everything honestly if you wanted to play a lead here then i'd play the rhythm there and then vice versa but now um yeah i kind of just play whatever the hell i want to play live and you know if Sometimes i change it up sometimes. Sometimes I'm like, all right, I've been playing this rhythm part for, you know, years. Let me just start playing the lead and we'll just track the rhythms because obviously I can't do it human, do both. You know, it's humanly impossible, but.

Live Performances and Personal Life

00:22:20
Speaker
um What has been the worst venue and your best venue? Like,
00:22:29
Speaker
Worst venue shit something that you like showed up and like four people are there and you're on We're gonna fucking oh fuck this Oh Man well there was this venue up in San Francisco. I think it was yeah, it San Francisco It was on our first headliner tour, which I feel like to this day I still feel like we had no business doing a headliner tour for our third tour ever but Um, we, yeah, it was this horrible, it was first of all, three flights.
00:23:02
Speaker
It was one single flight of stairs, but it was like three, you know, three stories high. And then we had these two big ass, like 16 unit rat cases full of our gear heavier than hell. And we had to carry them up this massive flight of stairs and And then we'll get up there to find out that it's just a dinky, tiny, shitty-ass little PA system. No subs or anything.
00:23:27
Speaker
Just like tiny little PA speakers. So the whole night, like, we had Catch Your Breath and Dark Divine out with us, and everybody was having a hell of a time because, like, everything was fighting in the mix to get through this PA system, and it was just terrible.
00:23:41
Speaker
um And I honestly, i don't even know how many people really showed up to that, but it was not a great great place. Okay, so we don't go back to San Fran. Got it?
00:23:53
Speaker
Yeah. No, not there. that's best thing I'm sure there's been shittier, but that's the one that comes to mind. Gotcha. Yeah, that'd be like, so yeah you might as well just grab a megaphone and just start singing, right? Dude, exactly. mysh point Yeah.
00:24:09
Speaker
But the best? The best, yeah. yeah
00:24:15
Speaker
Man, I don't even know. um There's been a lot of bests. I mean, if I don't know, festivals count? Sure. Well, which one stands out the best for you? Like, which one did you, which one would you be like, dude, I'll do that every single day, every time that we go. ah That's what i want to do.
00:24:36
Speaker
I think it was called Copenhell. Copenhel, I believe it was. That was a badass festival, but that was over in Europe. Don't ask me what country and youre you know over there was specifically. i couldn't tell you. But dude, that was absolutely phenomenal. um Yeah, Copenhel stands out for sure. And then Welcome to Rockville, that's another one.
00:25:03
Speaker
Welcome to what? Welcome to Rockville down in Daytona Beach. What's that? You did? You did? Welcome to Rockville? Twice, yeah. Get the fuck out of here. We just had it again.
00:25:15
Speaker
Yeah, actually, my be ah Ryan, he was just down there. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah, Welcome to Rockville is just a massive ah right there at the Speedway.
00:25:26
Speaker
Yeah. We we were going to go last weekend just to go to Daytona and hang out for the weekend, and we like started looking at rooms, Mark.
00:25:37
Speaker
and a room that we would normally get that's like 230 a night was 700 a night i was like what the fuck yeah oh yeah they're stupid bro they're it's dumb when when that's when that show comes to town everything works they book that shit way in advance wow way in advance you get the shittiest motel that's like normally like 59 a night and they're gonna make you 500 bucks yeah no oh yeah yeah Yeah, that's ah that's a great, um yeah, because you guys open for a lot of ah a lot of fucking really big time bands.
00:26:15
Speaker
and Yeah, absolutely. oh ah another one that stands out to me is Upheaval. Actually, that's right in Michigan, I believe.
00:26:26
Speaker
Yes, it is. Yep. Yeah, we played Upheaval a few years ago, and dude, that was insane. I don't know whove who fucked up or if we really earned it or what the hell, but we got like put on the main stage with ah it Bring Me The Horizon was the headliner that night. And so we got to play main stage and luckily like the crowd was filling in like very nicely. So, dude, I don't know, that one was just so fucking crazy, but that was sick.
00:27:00
Speaker
If you guys are getting invited to these types of venues, though, you've got to be doing something right, obviously. Right. So, i yeah, yeah, yeah i mean I guess so. It's not like they just put your name in a hat and went, OK, well, pick this this band. I mean, they could have. yeah I'm 100 percent positive that they didn't do that at all.
00:27:20
Speaker
They're looking for a stage on top of the hill. And I was like, dude, I feel like we should die. Cause like climbing up that hill sucked ass. And I, and the stage was tiny and I was like, dude, I definitely feel like that's where we should have been. i was like oh Why, why the hell did we get main stage? i mean, I'm not complaining, but holy shit.
00:27:39
Speaker
That was crazy. That's awesome, man. That's really amazing. Amazing. Um, and then, uh, you did a thing. and you done went and got married.
00:27:51
Speaker
I did. and did, I did. What'd you do that for? Who told you that was going be fun? just kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. That was dumb. That
00:28:04
Speaker
was stupid. How long were you guys together before you decided to get married? Oh, geez. Not even a year, I don't think, right? We got together in January and you proposed to meet in September. September. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, not even a year. yeah Mark, how long were you together with your your your girlfriend who became your wife?
00:28:26
Speaker
You guys dated before we got married ah to the day, two years. Nice. So they were together two years. i i got all you guys meet. That's because it was like, what, 10 days? Honey, how how how long before we got married? No, no, no, no Stacy, don't answer him. him figure it out.
00:28:45
Speaker
Six months. Six months. Six months? Yeah, we did. It's close. We're very close because I literally looked at her and I go, like we did it for a little while. and Like I looked at her and I go, hey, what are you doing on Friday? And she's like, what?
00:29:00
Speaker
I was like, what are you doing on Friday? She's like, I don't know why. I was like, i don't know You want to get married? I mean, you know, the most remarkable proposal that I could possibly do. 29 years later. No shit,
00:29:15
Speaker
That's awesome. That's awesome.
00:29:20
Speaker
I'm here, Josh, in February. I'm married. I'm in November. February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November. So nine months for for you. Okay. Nice. ah Nice.
00:29:30
Speaker
Yeah, man. I feel like like when you, I don't know, maybe not all the time, but I feel like when you know, you know. you know like With Amber, it was just like, it made sense.

00:30:33
Speaker
You can't remember the name. August, what's the name of the song? No, I wanted to ask you the name of the band. and I want to ask August the name of the song. It's called nightmares. right.
00:30:42
Speaker
We're going to listen to nightmares and then we're going to come back. We're hanging out with August Lee and we're going to listen to the song. When we come back, we're going to play a little game called Florida or not Florida. And we have somebody special to play against August.
00:30:57
Speaker
Hell yeah. All right. Awesome. Oh, no.
00:33:31
Speaker
Oh,
00:34:30
Speaker
All right. We are back. Hell yeah. Hey, tell us a little bit about that. I don't know if you can hear me or not. We can hear you.
00:34:42
Speaker
Can you hear me? You can't hear me. You know, StreamYard sucks. You have to back out and come back in. Hang on.
00:34:56
Speaker
Yeah, I can't hear you guys. i don't know if you can hear me. OK, cool. Sweet.
00:35:02
Speaker
Are you telling them to back out and come in?
00:35:07
Speaker
Oh.
00:35:11
Speaker
Comments.
00:35:16
Speaker
Back out come in.
00:35:20
Speaker
So while we're waiting for August to back out and and rejoin, thanks to StreamYard, you fucking piece of shit, ah we will queue up.
00:35:33
Speaker
All right, let's see. Can you hear me now? I can hear you now. Can you hear me? How about Mark? Yeah. That happens every, what, three weeks now? Almost every time.
00:35:47
Speaker
Yeah. So if it happens again on any other podcast, when you when you guys get into other podcasts, just make sure you back out and come back and just be like, hey I'll be right back. Awesome.
00:35:58
Speaker
All right. So I was just going to ask you before we move on to the game, if you could tell us just a little bit about that song, how it came about and the video, because the video is absolutely fantastic, too.
00:36:11
Speaker
Yeah, dude, thank you. um that was That was the first, excuse me, the first release we um had with our label.
00:36:23
Speaker
So it was a very exciting time for sure. We had just kind of signed we had just signed to our label. um We got, you know, the budget to go film the music video.
00:36:36
Speaker
And then they were like, all right, our videographer who had done all of our prior videos, he's like, I can get these big like SLED walls and we can shoot it. Actually, it's shot in the same place warehouse that we shot our music video for our song Sinking Under.
00:36:53
Speaker
um And it was freezing. I remember that it was freezing as hell. But, um, yeah, man, it was just a blast. The song, as far as it kind of wrote itself, I feel like, like it was just, uh, Ryan, me and John,
00:37:12
Speaker
um who I spoke of earlier, great songwriter. And then I just was like, dude, what if we did this solo? Like, wow her and her you know, so um and it just came to what it is now. And dude, it's probably one of my favorite, probably is still my favorite song that we have in our catalog.
00:37:31
Speaker
Oh, yeah, it's dope, man. ah I like it. um When are you going put your wife in a video? Hopefully for this new stuff. OK. Is the band on board with that?
00:37:44
Speaker
No. We're going to make them. All but right, guys. We're back. We're hanging out with August Lee um from Until I Wake. And we are going to play a game with August. But you know what? You've got to play against somebody.
00:38:03
Speaker
So we went out and we had someone on the show before. And she did really well at the game, I believe. Right, Mark? She always does well. No, i actually, she didn't. and And I think she knows you. And you might know her. oh yeah? Hey.
00:38:20
Speaker
What's up, August? What's up? She knew. So we're going to play against Allie. Allie, how are you? Peachy. Just been sitting here watching August.
00:38:34
Speaker
All right. All right, the game is pretty easy. It's called Florida or Not Florida. going explain it to you guys real quick. it goes like this. I'm going to read this wild outlandish type story.
00:38:50
Speaker
It's kind of like Florida, man. So you just got to tell me if it happened where Mark and I are from right here in the great state of Florida. We're shaped like a gun, right, baby? Or if it happened anywhere else. And I think when i think when we played this times,
00:39:06
Speaker
maybe a month or two ago, I did a Florida, Ohio thing. So maybe watch out for that too. Okay. Hell, last week you did a Florida and nowhere else in the United States. Oh yeah. ah So we're going to make this fun. We're going make it quick. We got five questions or five little short things here.
00:39:26
Speaker
um Folks in the comment section, please feel free to play along and guys, I don't know if you got them or not. We're gonna send you out your talking shit decals. i have the military edition.
00:39:40
Speaker
Mark has the OG. We'll let you get your on some of those and maybe on a guitar or two. Oh, Ali's got some. Look at that. and you know Yeah, we got some too.
00:39:52
Speaker
Right on. right, guys. Here is your first story. Man tries to pay a toll with a live lobster. He handed the toll worker a lobster and insisted it was legal tender.
00:40:08
Speaker
The lobster declined to make change. ah Is this Florida or not Florida? That's Florida. That's got to be Florida. I don't know, man. like It could be up north. up and Like Hawaii? It could be Hawaii. It could be by me. I like the way you think, Allie.
00:40:26
Speaker
like It could be all over. You never know. Or it could be Florida because the look on your face. that I'm trying to think of other bordering states. August is saying that happened in Florida. Allie, what do you think?
00:40:41
Speaker
I don't know. Where's Lindy, Ben? I feel like Lindy would have done this. What about Amanda? Amanda, hopefully you're not super laggy. What do you think? you think this happened in Florida or not in Florida?
00:40:54
Speaker
Not in Florida. Let's go not in Florida. August said Florida. I can't agree with August. Florida versus a not Florida. Here we go And ooh, two not Floridas. Ooh, you got two people against you, August. I'll give you one chance to change your answer.
00:41:09
Speaker
Don't fall for the peer pressure. You could be right, August. I'm sticking with Florida. um My man, it happened in Florida. Well, you got it right.
00:41:20
Speaker
It happened in Florida. That's right. Yeah. All right, here we go. Here's your next one. Does it say where in Florida? No, unfortunately it doesn't. Sorry. All right, here's your next one. Man tries to trade a goat for Wi-Fi password.
00:41:39
Speaker
Negotiations stalled when the neighbor asked for when the neighbor asked for a router and a handshake. Is this Florida or not Florida?
00:41:51
Speaker
So... Yeah, can i help you? Hey, I will trade you this goat for the Wi-Fi password. Nah, Florida. Nah. I feel like that's Minnesota. My neighbor would have done that growing up in a freaking heartbeat. That's like Wyoming or something like that. That's like the same dude who believed the woman. Allie says not Florida. Amanda says not Florida.
00:42:14
Speaker
Just remember this. It could not even be here in the States. True. That's true too. That's also true. That sounds like some Scotland shit or something. Well, let's see. Where was it? Man tries to trade a goat for Wi-Fi password in Florida.
00:42:31
Speaker
What? know. I am very disappointed. i am too. Where is goat being kept in Florida? like I feel like that thing is sweating like crazy.
00:42:45
Speaker
I can't even know they had goats in Florida. It's probably a house. you and I had four of them at my house. Are you kidding really They eat every fucking thing.
00:42:56
Speaker
They ate the wire that that housed them between the chickens. and and then we well Did they eat the wire to the router for the Wi-Fi password? It could have happened. ah um Here we go. ooh I like this one.
00:43:13
Speaker
man dressed as batman tries to help police with investigation he insisted he had critical inta intel intel and a cape officers appreciated the enthusiasm that was gotham 100 yeah that was our son that was our son right here right in new york and that was what was definitely amber says it was definitely our son yeah ah man yeah That's not Florida. Not Florida. Allie, what do you think? She said Gotham. I like it. It's Gotham. That's true.
00:43:51
Speaker
Not Florida from Amanda. Mark, what do you think? I'm going to give you a shot at this one. That's my son. Yeah. That one sounds like something that happened. It's not Florida. Where you think it happened at, Mark?
00:44:07
Speaker
Probably...
00:44:11
Speaker

00:44:47
Speaker

00:45:00
Speaker
He unloaded a magazine into the engine block, but trucks still refuse to cooperate. Florida or not Florida? florida or not Florida or Louisiana? You probably blame the gator that was in the yard. All
00:45:19
Speaker
right, let's see. we got Florida and Florida, huh? ah Amanda, what do you think? Mark, what do you think while we're waiting for Amanda?
00:45:30
Speaker
You don't get to see these anymore. No, um I was going to say probably Georgia. You think Georgia? Georgia.
00:45:41
Speaker
All right, guys. All the answers are in And
00:45:47
Speaker
it is not Florida. It was Tennessee. Okay, that makes sense. It was south. That makes sense. Yeah, it was in the dinner near area. It has to be and there has to be in the south for sure.
00:46:03
Speaker
ah all right. Last one. One more
00:46:12
Speaker
No, I don't like that one. Uh-oh. Now I'm curious what it is.
00:46:19
Speaker
You don't want that It was terrible. Okay, we're right here. Here we go. ah Man breaks up with his girlfriend via megaphone from a roof.
00:46:30
Speaker
he shouted the He shouted the breakup, then forgot where he parked his car. Is this Florida or not Florida? I feel like that could be anywhere on a college campus.
00:46:42
Speaker
Yeah. Like any college campus. Literally, literally on the roof of something going, I think we should be friends. Like, I feel like this is an 80s, 90s rom-com breakup situation. and so they'll get back together. yeah yeah Maybe with a boombox.
00:47:05
Speaker
Man. I'm going to go not Florida on this one. I feel like that's too straight edge to be Florida.
00:47:16
Speaker
So let's go with a non-Florida. But really, it feels like it could happen anywhere. Yeah, yeah like it could be anywhere. And we got a broken record here, not Florida. Yep. All right, I'm going to read it one more time. Here we go, guys.
00:47:31
Speaker
Florida man breaks up with his girlfriend via megaphone from a roof.
00:47:37
Speaker
Listen, we have some cool dudes around here and then have those who will break up with you from the top of a roof. I'm just curious if it was recording because again, he could pitch it for an 80s, 90s. This would have been fan. absolutely agree. I would have been like, I want to watch this movie. 100%. What is happening right now? And and why do i want to? Why? Why am I i watching this? Why are they breaking up? What happened? Why do you have to do this so publicly?
00:48:06
Speaker
Well, listen, whether you won or lost, it doesn't really matter. Everybody's a winner at the game of Florida or not Florida. but Hey, Mark, how did these guys do anyway? I think I got one right. I was going to i was gonna look up what Allie did last time. Allie is only had one right.
00:48:25
Speaker
August had two right. And Amanda had two right. I feel like I had one right last time. with i don't know i know it's crazy when i when i started pulling these up i was just gonna do all florida guy i was just gonna do all florida i i've seen you do that before i've done it before but because all the stories that i started reading i was just like oh fuck off dude that's funny like i mean literally like woman tries to return a live iguana to pet smart because it wasn't listening is one of them
00:48:59
Speaker
Man calls 911 because his pizza was cold. That's a Florida man. 911? Dude. Did they give it CPR, though?
00:49:11
Speaker
That's crazy. Allie, last time, you got two right. I got two right? Last time, yep. Damn. Oh, well. I was playing against Joe, too.
00:49:23
Speaker
Who'd you play? Oh, yeah, you played against Joe. That's right. I think you beat. Did you beat Joe? No. No, Joe won, though. Okay. Allie, before we let you go, you got any anything you want to put out there? Anything you want to tell people to check out or watch or yeah anything you need to know about the band? Anything you need to but know about August?
00:49:44
Speaker
Well, I mean, you got the fact that August and Until I Awake start tour here, what, July 16th is the day that I see you, I believe, right? At the rave? I believe so. And I got the next day they're going to be doing Rockfest over Kadat.
00:49:59
Speaker
which will be fun. So my kid will get to go to the rave the first time. That'll be fun. And then we have to feed us. We got some updates. So we finally got some progress on the physical media. Thank the Lord.
00:50:11
Speaker
So hopefully soon we'll have that up going out too. Very cool. uh so stay stay in touch with ali if you guys want more information about fetus film as well um and other projects that she is a part of huge huge help to everybody in the industry so ali thank you for joining us and playing along with august august do you want to say anything malie before she leaves thank you for coming on and i kicked your ass but yeah you kicked my ass and i'm just gonna toss your wife while you keep driving
00:50:47
Speaker
Awesome. All right. Wait, what? Missouri man. Missouri man. Five piece. That's what he's doing.
00:51:00
Speaker
That sounds. Amanda, you can send us these stories and I will absolutely play them. I feel like she needs to be a guest host just to be out of white. Some of them one night. Cause she could come up with her own list and just be like, you know what? I can beat you.
00:51:15
Speaker
but picturing the news footage of a helicopter of you know helicopter over this car just speeding down the highway and this guy's chicken nugget was there any evidence left no just a honey mustard on his chin oh that's i respect that i respect that it wasn't we're gonna say good night alley man's gotta eat a thr we're going to say good night alie
00:51:46
Speaker
na Good night. All right. And we're hanging out with August. August, I got to know, if you weren't doing the band thing, what would you be doing?
00:51:59
Speaker
Well, that was going to be the thing I was going to tell you before you said that. I'm going tell you, you know, August has a, you know, something he does on the side that he's really good at.
00:52:12
Speaker
Are you a magician? I do a few things on the side. Well, the one the one thing that I've seen. was count We can't have that on the show yet. we I mean, we're working. No, I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. takes pictures.
00:52:25
Speaker
Oh, you're a photographer? Yes. Okay. Fairly, don't know, I consider myself fairly new at it. But really, I've been doing it on and off since like 2021, I think, 2022. But I've just get started getting, within the past few months, really heavy into it. so I used to take pictures with my phone, and then my daughter got a camera, and everything changed. she would she like We go on these nature walks, and like she'll break out this giant fucking camera.
00:53:00
Speaker
I was like, oh, let me get that think get the picture of that alligator over there. chi chi I'm like, what? allig yeah I didn't see no fucking alligator. like It's right over there. I'm like, still don't see it. that's the crazy thing about it, though. is like That's what I love about it. is It's actually like...
00:53:16
Speaker
You develop this eye for things around you. like You see everything that nobody else sees. Exactly. Yeah. You know, it's crazy. I love it. It's awesome. Because in a world where you can, you're generally walking head down in your phone or, you know, whatever, not paying attention. That's the world today.
00:53:35
Speaker
It is. It is. So that in this scenario, you're looking at everything, kind of soaking it all in. It's cool. So if you weren't a part of the of the band, would you be a full-time photographer, you think?
00:53:48
Speaker
You think that's what you would lean towards?
00:53:52
Speaker
Probably. Probably. I love cars, too. A dream of mine has always been to open like a rat rod shop and build rat rods. um i just I love cars, but also um i love movies. And luckily, with Amber, I've kind of gotten welcomed into that world. And that's something I've always wanted to do too. So that there's just so many things. It's hard to say I'd just do one thing, but I feel like photography as of right now, it would probably be photography. Yeah.
00:54:20
Speaker
Okay. Very good. um and uh you're gonna tell the guys how it went on the show tonight and be like hey we got to come back to be on the show together and well yeah it would be cool to get all of us on i think so i think it'd pretty kick-ass and then you know we could all have a you know just have a good time man i mean that's what it's all about i can just imagine them doing florida or not florida well august august knows now so he'll be like wait a minute Yeah. the answer to this brought With Florida or not Florida, Brian used to have a tell on what was what.
00:54:55
Speaker
If it had anything to do with drugs, basically meth, it was Florida. ah So he started changing it up. Because mark Mark opened his fat mouth.
00:55:06
Speaker
I mean, come on. You were giving them hints, too.
00:55:12
Speaker
Guys, listen, we don't do the show for Mark and myself to to look at each other and look it. whatever we do it now. We want to make sure that you you guys as the talent, August, we want to make sure that everybody knows who you guys are.
00:55:27
Speaker
So um while we have the audience's attention, do you want to tell everybody who you are, where they can find you and what you have coming up? Yeah, yeah. um So I'm August from Until I Wake. I play guitar for the band. And you can find me on Instagram or Facebook. um And that's really about it. ah TikTok that I don't use. But all of it is just August Lee Geithner.
00:55:55
Speaker
um And as far as what's coming up, we have a 10-day headliner coming up in July, July 16th to May 1st. And that has Rockfest and Rock for Vets in that. So make sure you go get your tickets and get your VIP. Come check us out and hang out with us.
00:56:13
Speaker
And the only other thing right now is we have a new album in the works. I know it's been a while since we've had new music out with Cody, but we are working diligently on it and excited to get it out to you guys.
00:56:25
Speaker
And there will be one country song on there. No, I'm just kidding. Yes. You should do a hidden track. You guys should do a hidden and track and you should let them, you should be like, Hey guys, I want to do some Southern rock.
00:56:38
Speaker
I would love to. i would love to. I'll have see if I can get Cody on board with it. Just be like one hidden track or one. guy and i'd be on board with or Dude. oh Ooh, I like that. So think about it. Three hit, because everybody's going to want to do something, I would think, right? Of course. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Everybody's got their own thing that they really love. So, yeah, absolutely.
00:57:01
Speaker
i mean, is there any other bands out there doing that? No, I don't really think so. I don't think so. That's a good-ass idea. all go! That'd be cool.
00:57:13
Speaker
Now, is the label going to be on board? We'll see. That might be a different start. Let's see. it's it's ah It's a breadcrumb or whatever. Yeah, they call those breadcrumbs, right, Mark? Easter egg or something. Easter. It's an Easter egg. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like an Easter That be sick. There you go.
00:57:29
Speaker
That would be pretty cool.
00:57:32
Speaker
All right. And my designer is calling. Guys, let's wrap up the show. I have to take a call about some product that I'm working on. So... Body care is you know, what you're going to be planting in your yard.
00:57:48
Speaker
August, I really appreciate you coming on the show. She felt members. Thank you for letting us steal you for an hour. We really appreciate her too. um Hopefully we get to see her as well. Next time. Mark, you got anything else you want to say?
00:58:04
Speaker
Well, thank you for coming on. Yeah. Thank you for having me. Thanks for playing hard to get. yall Dude, I think anybody who knows me knows I'm terrible at responding to my messages. so Well, eventually, you know, it worked out.
00:58:19
Speaker
So yes that's what matters. Mark, are we on next week? Yes, we're on for the next three weeks, and then we're going to take two weeks off. All right, who we got next week?
00:58:30
Speaker
Steve. Marlow. Marlow. And he's the director for Scene. And we're going to take a peek at that movie, which is out on all platforms.
00:58:44
Speaker
