The two Josh's from the Daily Arsenal podcast invite Chris and Ollie from Daily Tottenham over for some light hearted pre match banter. They look back at the two clubs recent FA cup matches against Man Utd and Tamworth and the forthcoming NLD at the Emirates Stadium. It was always going to be a little spicy and both sides gave as good as they got in the banter stakes - we'll leave it up to you to see who the winner of the podcast was! :)

North London Derby Preview: Optimism vs. Reality

00:00:36
Speaker
How are you feeling in the build-up to this North London Derby on Wednesday night? I'm going to be full up be polite because I'm in your house tonight, and so um I've got good manners to find. um How am I feeling? I'm feeling all right, mate, to be honest. You know, we've got two wins, yes, they were ideal. Certainly the one yesterday wasn't, but I feel relatively okay about it. um We can't do much more than we're doing currently, and I'm back on the team, so let's go there and do the best.
00:01:04
Speaker
Oh, it's nice to see someone with blind optimism, isn't it, Josh, every now and again? yeah with Me and Josh are cynics, so it's it's nice to see someone who believes in their view for a change.

Spurs' Narrow Victory and Performance Critique

00:01:14
Speaker
And Oli, I mean, obviously we're going to talk about it now in a bit of detail, but Spurs' most recent game was an epic thriller against the mighty Galactico's that are Tamworth. You did end up winning 3-0 but it's fair to say you scored after what was it 101 minutes a scrappy own goal by Talworth How are you feeling after that game and sort of like Spurs and where they're sitting at the moment and how they're playing currently? um Well, we're through to the next round unlike Sun I'm feeling optimistic about where we're going right now. We're getting some players back at the end of this month. We've got a lead in the Carabao Cup. You don't.
00:01:59
Speaker
and um yeah i I'm feeling good right now. It's quite good. Ollie is usually quite quite quiet and reserved, but he's come straight in.
00:02:12
Speaker
Oh, that's that's absolutely fine. Don't worry. I thought I was going to be the one doing this, but hey, don't worry. Just wait until Josh releases the shackles, because Josh Duncan has always got something to say. And speaking of which, Josh, great to see you again, as it always is.

Arsenal's Struggles and Key Player Issues

00:02:27
Speaker
um you know Admittedly, yeah, we lost to Manchester United in the FA Cup. it was ah It was a rough game. We discussed it in Monday's party. It was a bit of a disaster quite frankly. Let's discuss it again.
00:02:37
Speaker
all right All right, fine. We will discuss it again. Josh, who is our problem at Arsenal? Just for these guys. give them your Give them your hot, well, hot take. Let go ahead. The man, the problem, you know, it's got to be Kai Havoc. He is useless. Absolutely useless. I said it at the start of the season and everyone's against me, you know, everyone's against me. Everyone's all laughing at me and saying, ah, what are you talking about, Josh? You don't know what you're talking about. Right. And now look, we haven't got the number nine. I can get goals. He is injured.
00:03:07
Speaker
and relying on a guy that that doesn't make runs into the box who he's got what six foot four and you know can't jump and score a header he can't do anything I know I know it does seem hopeless but we are talking about a team who have conceded 30 goals this season Josh so you know but you more they do score you don't give them credit they do you get goals We're not meant to be giving them any credit, Josh. Come on. And we've got our own German.
00:03:36
Speaker
yeah ah what was you it tough You're German. Do you know

Player Performance: Timo Werner and Comparisons

00:03:40
Speaker
what? I used to absolutely love Timo Bern. I think mainly from FIFA because he was an absolute beast of a player on FIFA. But what the hell have you done to him? He did that to himself.
00:03:51
Speaker
yeah ah Yeah, it's it's a good question, but he he yeah he he can't go past anything at all. He always takes you takess the option, stops and passes back. He's like a schoolboy, just too scared to try. um and it's a real It's a real shame to see because obviously he's got the pace and that's the only thing that saves him. God knows in a few more years when he loses that pace, he's going to be, well, certainly not in the Premier League. He should retire.
00:04:18
Speaker
yeah I'll be honest, this sounds a little bit like the way Martin Eddy's playing at the moment. I don't know how you shots just too scared to run at people. Now, ah obviously, this is a very good hide with colleagues on the global sports podcast network. but I did read something on the BBC Sport review of the Tamworth game that I just want to put to you guys and see if you agreed with.

FA Cup and Spurs: A Mixed Bag

00:04:37
Speaker
And Postakodlu's side were mind-numbingly poor in normal time at the lamb ground, then required a scrambled own goal from Tamworth's Nathan Tsakuna to break the deadlock. Postakodlu needed his main men to avoid humiliation. Would you say that's a fair estimation of the game, Chris?
00:04:53
Speaker
Yep. Fair enough. Cool. But we're through. I mean, I think and any team who you've got um surveyors and people with jobs full time playing against ah people they never believed they could have played against and maybe, you know, a few players which could have been in better leagues as well.
00:05:12
Speaker
Yeah, they're going to raise their levels, aren't they? And it was their moment to shine. So, good on, that's what the f FA Cup is about, at the end of the day. Yes, it was against our team, but for a neutral, and that's what it's all about, it's the entertainment, mate. um yeah It was great entertainment, and I thought, with respect to the way Spurs played, yes, it was not great. um they To be honest, the other team played pretty well, to be honest. day actually They good actually some Premier League teams to be honest, which is quite good. And they left winger as well. He was pretty awesome, especially the first half. I think he was playing with a pulled muscle since the point where he pulled his muscle, butter by the way. i mean just it is classic Classic Sunday league. I'm not coming off. If I'm fine to play, playing with one leg, coff half arm, that kind of thing. But he um he did pretty well. And he on the counter attack, and yeah, we we struggled. this In fact, their striker was pretty decent as well. He could hold a ball up. Dragosan didn't know what he was going to do about it really. was He was struggling and really well. So um I was watching that game. That striker, the man up front, he had a bit of a, he had really young face to him. He was 30 years old.
00:06:17
Speaker
I can't believe it. It's sponsored by Nivea for men. It was one of those big packs you get for Christmas. He had he had a few duplicates, but you know, he might as well put it on before the before the TV match. I mean, a he looked remarkable for a man of that age. I mean, what was it? A zip maker was in the squad. A zip maker. like That's the beauty of the epic cup. And Josh, I don't know about you. I kind of felt a bit cheated, obviously gutted that we got knocked out in the first place. but I was really gutted when we got Man United and we weren't going to, you know, ah a non-league side or a league two side or someone like that because those those clashes like Chris said, they're what makes the FA Cup, aren't they really?
00:06:56
Speaker
yeah but you know the game yesterday it wasn't an entertaining game for the neutral as well there was loads of madness in there just for our castle fans it was just your game was it was good good match up and end recording there it was it was a rough watch for us i mean ollie did you happen to catch our game against united uh yeah i did it was uh it was a great watch i enjoyed it
00:07:24
Speaker
i'm happy when hammer's got decked he deserved that i'll be honest i think of got yeah yes I mean, we obviously we we rib spurs a lot and you guys rib us, but we we can't get away from the fact that up front we have a man who doesn't know his ass from his elbow and can't and seems to have think the idea of heading the ball is to catch it in between his head and shoulder and just let it roll to the ground. like I don't know what we're going to do about that. Josh, we need to spend some money, but apparently we haven't got any

00:07:54
Speaker
money. So, you know, it's a bit of a disaster. Right. We're going to take a little bit of a break. We've had our introductions. We've had we've had our opening shots when we come back.

Confidence in Spurs' Management Amidst Challenges

00:08:58
Speaker
guests. First of all,
00:09:00
Speaker
Chris, is 12th really good enough for the Tamworth slaying Spurs? Because it's in the Premier League, it's not been the nicest season for you guys so far. It's a really competitive league though, isn't it? Come on. Come on, it's 12th. You know what, of course it's not. and um If you listen, well, of course you're not listed as Spurs podcast, but if you if anybody on here it does listen as Spurs podcast. You'll know that often we we will will say that it's not good enough. um And I think that we've gone through an evolution in the, in the actual following the team anyway, especially with Ange, you know, a lot of us getting frustrated at some of the tactics. And now I think in general, um me and Ollie spoke about it on the last podcast we did together. um we're We're behind most for Spurs fans, hopefully are behind the manager any because
00:09:48
Speaker
He's got no other choice. So we are where we are regarding the injuries, and you guys are the same. You've got injuries now with Jesus as well. ah You've got to do what you've got to do. And you know as you spiral down um past us, we'll wave you on the way up.
00:10:04
Speaker
that That's one of the strangest... ah Did you hear that right, Josh? A spiral passed down this. Yeah, that doesn't attempt to make sense. It sounded better than my head. I mean, what? 16 points ahead of you guys currently with 20 games played? It's going to be a hell of a spiral, that's for sure. yeah Admittedly, our form currently is exactly the same. We've both got two wins out of five than I'll ask. And you kind of answered my question there, my next question there, a little bit, Chris. But Ollie, to follow up and get your opinion, and So, Ange, obviously it sounds like the fans and yourselves are behind a bit. Do you reckon of Daniel Levy is not the most forgiving owner in the world? I think

Tottenham's Leadership and Investment Concerns

00:10:40
Speaker
that's pretty well documented. Is Ange in trouble? Is he in danger at the moment, big Ange? I don't think he's in any trouble at all. But sometimes when the fans go at Levy, Levy pulls the trigger on the manager. um And we are going at Levy right now.
00:10:57
Speaker
but I don't think he's going to go after And because I think that'd be the end of Levy at Tottenham. he He wouldn't be able to escape that right now. Do you reckon he's got quite a fragile hold on the club at the moment, Levy? Levy. Yeah, mate. Well, Chris shaking his head there. but go out we all We wish, we wish, mate. Well, I don't know. I feel like he's been the most fragile it has been in a while for him. I don't remember. remember all these chants at him in every game, even if we're doing well, we're still chanting Levy out. it It is quite fragile at points for him, I think, but you know he he's going to stay there. He's going to get his money. He's going to be fine. So, Chris, is there quite a lot of anti-Levy feeling in general from the supporters then, Chris? Yeah, 100%, because it's just um the way Tottenham's run now, I mean, we've got fantastic facilities. Everything is set up for us now, apart from investing in the team.
00:11:55
Speaker
um and you know We're obviously in a position where we make a lot of money now. um Financially and commercially, he's done a brilliant job. and You kind of need a football guy to come come in now who loves football and will go not that, that, that over tomorrow really pay and pay some big money and change the wage structure as well, unfortunately. But again, you've got restrictions in there with financial, financial fair play as well, of course you have. So you've got to bear that in mind as well. But regardless of Levi and his grip, personally,
00:12:24
Speaker
um you only lose your job if you've got pressure from the top. And if you're bringing in the money, then that's all that they care about, I think. so um That's a problem. It's uncomfortable. It's more uncomfortable than it has been for a long time. And certainly you wouldn't get anybody to offer him a lift if it seemed broken down by the side of the road currently. I mean, you say there's not been much investment. I mean, Josh, I don't think you, who did you pick as your signing of the C? So when we did our predictions, we sort of made an estimation of who's going to be the most impactful signing. Who did you say, Josh, again? Um, I think I said, uh horse's name again the lad from chelsea, of course. Oh, yeah, you said, uh netto was it? Netto yeah, I said andre anana villa but two of the people on the arsenal podcast Said that dominic solanke was going to be the signing of the season. Oh, you're nodding your head Are you convinced with solanke? Yeah, absolutely even his his um Amazing response, Josh. It's only God. Early on in the season, his numbers weren't the best. But if you actually watched him live, you could see how important he was for our team. And he's still that important, but he's also putting up the numbers as well to show the stat merchants that he is that guy. And without him, I don't know where we'd be this season, to be honest.
00:13:52
Speaker
really that much i would have thought you'd consider madison your most impactful player this season nah you're not game changer um yeah 100 um but follow along from what all he said i think that um and The striker basically works really hard for the team. He's a really good link player as well. and and Spurs fans like to see, especially the strikers, working really hard. um He doesn't always get his just deserves. And obviously he has his little off-mooms as well, but he needs a service you know like any player.
00:14:35
Speaker
um And I'm personally bit for you. He's been playing it really well to be honest and his stats should say the same I have to admit when ah when our colleagues suggested Dominic's like me and Josh were both on the call at the time and I believe we both laughed out loud whenever anybody suggests it's like it my main thought was because When you think about the profile a player he is he's not hugely dissimilar to Kane He's got a bit more pace than Kane, but he's very sort of similar and builds to Kane and and let Kane go because he wasn't gonna fit the system effectively and And also because Bayern Munich offered at a hundred million pounds. so He had to let him go. Yeah, it's sort of sweet in the deal. Yeah. He's got to win trophies somewhere, hasn't he, Josh? rannie is not exactly That's a source of much joy for us here at the Arsenal Daily Podcast, except for his England ones, of course. um Your defence at the moment. Now, oh so there's teams throughout the Premier League, massive injury problems, but
00:15:32
Speaker
I would potentially argue that even more so than City with Rodgeray out, your defensive issues have potentially been the worst. And I feel bad saying that because it means I'm giving them an out. But it does feel that way because the impact of your back line has been shocking, Chris, hasn't it?
00:15:50
Speaker
It has, but it's given opportunities, isn't it, as well, for younger players to come into it. And without that, and and the suspensions in midfield, without that, we wouldn't be the players wouldn't be blossoming, and they certainly have been. um When you've got a squad of younger players, you need them to actually go out and have some game time. And sometimes that comes from a really, really, really brave manager or a stupid manager. ah But often it comes from injuries and the suspensions, and that's what's happened to us. So, yes, Spence and um great aren't they aren't the answer at centre back but you know what they've done pretty well and i've been i've been really proud of them yeah the one who sort of stands out to me who's had a bit of a tougher time ollie draggers in he's would you would you would you sort of agree that he's not he's not really hit the ground running as much as maybe Spurs fans would have hoped for no he hasn't but what i would say is since the new keepers come in kinski in the last two games he's made
00:16:43
Speaker
Dragison seemed a lot more calm on the ball and just looked a lot better knowing Kinski was behind him than Fraser Forster or Vocario behind him. They're both very, I don't know, crazy keepers and they want to get the game moving as soon as possible where Kinski just takes his time, calms it down and I think Dragison's been much better in the last couple games.
00:17:05
Speaker
I'll be honest, I think the Titanic would have looked more stable if Foster was at the back, you know? That man destabilizes everything I feel like he touches. The last big question I've got for you, Josh, I'll ask this and then I'll come to you if you've got one for these guys. One of your most important players is very nearly out of contract. Son-hyun Min. Now, obviously... You signed a new deal. Yeah, signed a new deal. Oh! One year extension. Bugger!
00:17:33
Speaker
That throws my question completely out of the back in that case. Are you happy about that? Because there was a point where Spurs fans were kind of turning against him a bit. Yeah, i think I think anyone who's turning against him is a bit of an idiot because he gave so much for the club. But I think there's still a lot of life left in him and if he plays one game a week, I think he can still have a big impact on the team. But he's playing so so much football at the minute and his legs are going, he can't can't really stay at that top level anymore.
00:18:06
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest, him and Kudosevsky are the ones who scare me, Josh, in particular, from this Spurs team. like Any other big name? because mad I don't know about you, Madison doesn't scare me as much as them.
00:18:17
Speaker
Nah, I think they've got a decent team. It's not like fantastic or like amazing, but they've got a... As Copper mentions, he can be. But on their day, you know, they're an equal team. So I and i think right about now, you know, i'm I'm pretty scared of what's going to happen in Emirates. I think it'll be a time they might... they might and often it will probably don't you write what but a draw
00:18:45
Speaker
So have you got a question for these guys at all that you'd like to ask? Yeah, just a really simple question. Really? Do you not think this would be the season when you finally win the trophy? Yes. You really think so? Yeah. What trophy do you think you will win? The Europa League. Europa League? Yeah, the Europa League.
00:19:06
Speaker
oh no george Josh will win the Champions League too. just you are a caramel cupper something yeah yeah ro ah I think could definitely smash us in that second leg, so I think we've got more chance at Europa League.
00:19:22
Speaker
where Where are you in that that competition? we're We've got two games left. We're just outside the top eight. We've got Hoffenheim and Elfsborg. If we win both those games, we're going to get top eight and we'll be automatically into the R16. It coincides with our players coming back as well. So in the time of that, it's probably better than even the second leg against Liverpool, to be fair. So um that's, I guess, why are you saying that, Oli? Yeah. would Would you take that over a big climb up the table? A trophy.
00:19:51
Speaker
the The Europa League. Yeah, I'd say Europa League. To be honest, I'd take anything at this point, Josh. We're not going to finish 12th, we're going to finish higher than that. It's just a matter of time and then the players coming back end of the day. Although there's got good teams at this year and it's, you know. It's been very competitive. Anybody could be anybody. You look at the Bournemouth in particular. I mean, they've been phenomenal, haven't they? But obviously their striker's now injured as well. So we'll see what happens with them. but Well, thank you very much for your insight on Tottenham Hotspur. I mean, you know, as much of an insight as you can give on a team like them, of course. No, I'm joking. That's of course, I'm joking. It's great to have you. So, or go on Chris, where you going? I was about to say you couldn't help yourself. I can't, no. It's like ying yang. It is a little bit. Anyway, we're going to take a little break. We're going to hear from the Global Sports Podcast Network. And when we come back,
00:20:39
Speaker
I'm gonna hand over the reins to Chris and Oliver and they can quiz myself and Mr. Duncan about all things Arsenal. So we'll be back just after this message. Global Sports Podcast Network, every club, every day. And welcome back to the Daily Arsenal and Daily Spurs Podcast. We have talked all things Tom Hochberg, but that's time to hand over the reins to Chris and Ali and let them ask us whatever they want. It's a derby, so no holds barred. Oliver, what would you like to know about the glorious Gunners? um Do you think that Arteta has made Arsenal too predictable in games now?

Arsenal's Predictability Under Arteta

00:21:53
Speaker
Oh, that's a good question. Josh, you go for that.
00:21:57
Speaker
um Just a tad, yeah. Just a little bit. think I think now we're pretty much before with the Wenger days, we were never defensive. Now we're just too defensive. We've got no attack and flare. I don't think we're too predicted. I just don't think we have a pan of play to actually score goals these days. you know Just kind of cross it in the box. It was not a set piece. We don't really score. so Yeah. Yeah. We were talking about this on the pod the other day. We kind of, our tetta seems to have very much focused on making a solid at the back. And I mean, it could, it could well be argued that we probably got the best center back pairing, arguably in England, definitely arguably in Europe, I think you could say when Saliba and Gabrielle, they're a brilliant center back pairing. But the the issue is, it's the yeah
00:22:43
Speaker
ah woman goingnna say oliver no no But Arteta seems to want to play a game which is a lot of recycling the ball in midfield once we get into attacking areas and pinning teams in, as opposed to the amount of times that we've been on a counter-attack and slowed down to get everybody in position to pin them in. It can be a bit frustrating, honestly. yeah so has He's not made us like tactically weaker, but I don't think it's working at the moment, arguably. It is quite predictable though. Guys, do you think that's because you haven't got a striker? 100%.
00:23:19
Speaker
I find out for a focal point, even even your own podcast members are saying that they wish for a Dominic Solanke, so come on. Go on, Josh, you take this. How much of the striker is your territory here? I mean, to to answer the first question, I mean, last season, we you know we were like second behind, see you about how much goals we scored. and I think the season before that as well. So I think with Arteta, he probably sees that and pretty thinks, you know, we can probably hold off for a strike until the right day comes. but Yeah, 100% I'll definitely take Domitian like over habits because number one, you've got one that's actually a number nine and you've got one that shouldn't be a football player, you know?
00:23:58
Speaker
Yeah, josh Josh has a particular disdain to try to have us and it is starting to affect all of us as well, especially after the last two weeks. I think that last season um I've got yeah like lot much as Spurs and Arsenal fans, we've got Arsenal friends and Spurs fans. Yeah, of course, yeah. And it's a friendly bouncer. But um last season I thought that you guys played absolutely brilliantly up to yeah your maximum, I would say. And it was an opportunity then when other teams, obviously Man City in particular, didn't play quite as as well as they should have.
00:24:32
Speaker
ah And then it was time to push on and they don't understand why they haven't done it and and gone out and spent the big bucks and got that striker in because it's ah Understandably now they haven't can't push forward sack as a brilliant player and now he's injured You rely on individual brilliance in my opinion and yes lots of teams do and and I could say the same about color session as well ah Without without him doing something great then things don't happen, but you don't push forward as a unit It's kind of because younger focal player um and that's the problem isn't it and without that it things sort of stutter and then you have to rely on a bit of trickery to get a free kick and out of God's schools. Yeah, it's a huge issue that we have at the moment. I mean, we spent about £60, £70 million pounds in the summer, but that's on a left back who's looked very promising in Calla Fiore, but he's quite injury prone. And Mikel Marino, who
00:25:21
Speaker
He's a solid player, but he doesn't actually add anything to the team. I disagree with that. I like him. He's just... I don't think he's playing in the right position.

Mikel Marino's Role and Arsenal's Trophy Hopes

00:25:32
Speaker
I think he still won't give him a bit of time. I can see a player in there. I already can. Score player, I would say. In the last, obviously...
00:25:44
Speaker
World Cup and UAP or whatever. When are you last paid for the international team? You look fairly decent, solid. yeah But you can look at that in such a book, can't you? it's When this goes into a different system, especially from abroad, it really points itself out and especially in Arsenal as well. And when they're going through a transition of what they're trying to do and maybe change things up because they haven't got that focal point and Jesus has injured and yeah, it's it's it's difficult, isn't it? It is, yeah. And i feel I feel as though if that money had been spent like securing the services of, I don't know, a Yocorette or a Sesco or somebody of that il, I know, I mean, Josh wants one player and one player alone.
00:26:22
Speaker
Alexander Isaac. who yeah He part with any money for Alexander Isaac. I think any team would at the moment as well, to be fair. But even just a more sort of central focal player would completely change. Like you say, it would change the squad. It almost feels I don't know if you feel this way, Josh, a bit. It stagnated a bit after it's coming so close last season. It's We're also a very young team. There's aren't many older statesmen in that team. Like when you think about it, it's Georgina is kind of like the older leader there. And he's being linked away. And then your leadership team is Erdogan, then deck and rice, then Ben White. And it's sort of it's a very young team. So I feel as though we need a bit more experience in there, Josh, I don't know about you.
00:27:05
Speaker
um No, i not really. I think the older guy, his mentality is top-notch. I mean, even though he missed a penalty in the United game, he took the first penalty and the penalty shootout and he s scored, you know, completely. Where, you know, like other players I'm not going to mention couldn't, you know, couldn't score their penalty, you know. um But it's funny you you were mentioning Sesco. Did you, I only saw the antennas today. He's done the same amount of goals as Habers. They're both on seven goals. Is he only on the seven? Yeah, they're both on seven goals. into that I think that's the more amazing thing. Havocs is on seven goals.
00:27:39
Speaker
we watched the last couple of weeks Oli, have you got anything to pose to us Arsenal fans again? um Do you think you will win a trophy this season? Silence. Don't have to alter that lads. Next question. in um No, no. ah I don't. You could break them all, come back for being too new down, come on.
00:28:05
Speaker
At St James's Park, the way we're playing at the home. It's okay. It's never happened before. Well, exactly, it's there to be broken, isn't it? Come on. Come on, get me on your team. Jesus. This is the problem with Arsenal fans.
00:28:18
Speaker
ah Josh, I think we were the wrong people to bring on to a crossover with Spurs. We're defeatists. Mate, couple of reke weeks ago, months ago, I would have been as like the same as you, so don't worry. Yeah, God, Josh. God, we're definitely not going to win. and I mean, we're basically out of two complimentations in a space of a week, you know.
00:28:38
Speaker
Being being optimistic for Arsenal again, I've said it before it's like, you know You have your your missus there as you keep cheating on you. You keep forgiving there, you know he taken aback And it still hurts but you just get on with it and She's not even that attractive i yeah Yeah, we felt that way too deep did we I didn't tell me yet, I've been thinking about it. It's not just a sense of humour.
00:29:11
Speaker
But it's I'm sure you guys had the same thing as that. Well, though being Spurs fans, like the the ups and downs of I mean, I've ah one of my best friends is a Reading supporter. So I always feel bad when I moan about my team like that. There are clubs in freefall. But when you're sort of a team who's pushing for greatness and not quite achieving it and sort of stumbling and going up and going down, I don't know about you, Ollie. It can it can be a life of frustration. So I'm just writing it down for the Wikipedia to change it for you.
00:29:41
Speaker
Arsenal FC equals Reading. it it has been it It's all out of frustration supporting Tottenham but um I have a really, really good feeling that Angie is the guy ah that can bring bring us some glory. yeah Look how good looking we are. Jesus. We're going to stick with her for a long time. I mean, how how did you boys get corrupted and into the wrong side of North London? like well what what What happened there, Oli? What happened there? We're in North London for a start. Anyway, come on.
00:30:19
Speaker
strategy just Just my granddad. I just wanted to support who my granddad supported. And yeah, I've been... I mean, i i'm not I've not actually regretted it. I've enjoyed every moment of it. but um Every moment?
00:30:34
Speaker
Well, not every moment. But the day we win a trophy is going to be like like nothing else. And I cannot wait. And what about you, Chris? What what happened there, buddy? um Well, I've been involved since when we were winning trophies back in the 80s and things like that. But um yeah, at a very young age, purely my dad's an Ipswich fan. um so I didn't want to go down that route anyway. My friends were Man United, Liverpool and that ilk and I just didn't fancy it and I liked the way that Tottenham played when I saw them. I was like right I'll go from there and I'm from the west country anyway so I'm not born and bred in Tottenham so it's hard to get to matches etc but at the same point
00:31:17
Speaker
Yeah, love love my team. Talk to them as I. Like you guys will be with Arsenal as well. So, you know, you pick a team, you stick with it um and you see other people where you're where you're at school change teams. You're like, hang on a minute. Is that the new kit for 7-0? I thought you were 7-0. Is that mine or not, Ed? Are they doing well, are they? Yeah. 100%. You're right. that's That's half a bit in the DNA of Spurs fans as well. Just because we you know we like we like the fight a bit as well. so Exactly. we we We are both teams of scrappers, ultimately. And I mean, I'm looking forward to several yellow cards ah tonight anyway. And I mean, you know, my dad's a Liverpool fan, I could have had a much easier ride.

The Loyalty of Spurs Fans Through the Years

00:31:54
Speaker
I could have had a much easier ride. But no, no, I'm happy for the pain. it's made me who I am today. So have you got any more questions, gents? Or if not, we'll move on to the prediction. Go ahead, Chris. One more, guys. um Yeah, we've, a stamp yeah, we always talk about strikers. And you talk about some strikers you want as well. Yes, you've got anybody coming in for you. because Obviously, we're talking about youth players as well. And Spurs have got in you for this very much a drive forward. What's your academy like you got these players coming through and it is Lula Skelly and stuff like that. Well, it's gonna be played Lewis Scali, Miles Lewis Scali, yes. Is there anybody else that's coming through? Because because Arsenal, um and pretty much like some some Spurs as well, they've they've broken in and then they've gone pretty quickly. there's not None of them really stayed around for that long, really, have they?
00:32:36
Speaker
um So it's been interesting this season, hasn't it, Josh? Because again, kind of like what you alluded to earlier, Chris, injury has sort of given rise to the promotion of a couple of youth players. We have a bench full of youth players, but we've only really seen two.
00:32:52
Speaker
And that's Ethan Wanyeri and Miles Lewis Skelly. Ethan Wanyeri's looked very good, I think, Josh. I mean, we'll get your opinion on it in just a moment. He looks dynamic and he looks up for it. But the real standout, I think, has been Miles Lewis Skelly. He's been incredibly mature, incredibly composed, playing out of position as well. He's a central midfielder, but he's playing in that left-back role. I think he's been brilliant. What about you, Josh?
00:33:13
Speaker
Yeah, he's been like a new sign in to be fair. I think, you know, is when like, I i think I prefer more than California at the moment, you know, I just don't see any mistakes in his game. Honestly, I know he's still young and he's not his position, but yeah, yeah he's, he's been top notch. And on Gary, again, he's still young, 17.
00:33:31
Speaker
have It's bad that he's injured. I think he's coming back soon. So obviously not too bad. So that's that's good for ah good for us. But um that's about it really for Arsenal Academy. We did have the guy that went to Man United. Was it O.B. Martin? We did have him. That was one that was meant to be a a decent, decent player. But he decided, I think he wasn't going to get much game time. yeah But he decided to go to United.
00:34:00
Speaker
And let's be honest. You never make it, you never make it. one I mean, and anybody can get game time at Man United at the moment, let's be honest. What about you guys? because who was that Who was that youngster who scored for you against Liverpool, the one who should have been sent off, Ollie?
00:34:16
Speaker
You just had to get that in there didn't you? I had to a little bit yes so in terms of your youngsters who've you got like because I haven't really been made aware of many Spurs youngsters because you've got a I feel like you've got a deeper squad than we do almost sort of like a deeper trusting squad but go on if youngsters coming through We've got Mikey Moore, who has been out for three months with some sort of virus, which has impacted his football alde development, which is quite unfortunate. Man Flew, I think it was. for your know it's true yeah it's It's dangerous. Man Flew kills guys. Listen listen carefully. Anyway, oh sorry. um um i've watched ah I watched Moore against AZ Outmore in the Europa League um at the ground and
00:35:03
Speaker
He literally lifted everyone off their seats every time he was on the ball. He was just outstanding that night. And it's really disappointing that he's been out for so long because he could have been really useful in some games, gives us on a rest. And I believe he's more than capable to start games. He started against Crystal Palace for his illness. So, Ange believes in him and he looks really good. Is he one for bringing you through, Chris Ange?
00:35:33
Speaker
ah yeah anyway He hasn't had a choice at the moment, has he? but yeah yeah He is, because obviously we're we're built on that as well, starting young talent from across the globe, etc. That's why he paid really big, high money for Archer Great, realistically, yeah for whatever he was playing at. And obviously, Lucas Bergval as well, he was scouted for quite a few teams. Was it Barcelona or Ali as well? he was Yeah, we nabbed him at Barcelona.
00:35:55
Speaker
Yeah, and and you can see why. ah Initially, I saw him pre-season against Brian Munich um and he came on and me and my son were like, yeah, he's got it. You can see that. He just needs to ah grow into it and and get a bit more physicality. And he he's been doing really well. he was He was just outstanding against Liverpool, to be fair. He really was. And then we've got Jed Spence, who obviously has taken a long time. We all have different paths to get to the first team, don't we? And he certainly had that. And um yeah, Jed Lee King doing well.
00:36:26
Speaker
I have to admit, I have i have thought that Jed has been very good in the in the moments where he's featured. Now, this has been a very, you know, it's actually been a very civil Derby crossover so far. There's been the odd jape here and there, the odd, you know, correction of the Spurs guests on occasion from myself and Josh. But it's time to come to the crux of the matter. The last thing on this recording, predictions for the North London Derby played it on Wednesday in the evening. Now we're going to start off with Oliver, Oliver, what is your prediction for this upcoming massive game? I think if we're going to beat you at the Emirates in the league now is the time. I'm going for a 2-1 Spurs win.
00:37:11
Speaker
And I just believe that your attack is so bad right now. And I just don't, I just don't see you scoring more than one. And I think we, we've got tons of goals in us. So I think, I think two, one win. Okay. Okay. Interesting. Josh, what about you, mate? What about you buddy?
00:37:31
Speaker
um And you can't say we lose I Don't think I don't think we'll lose the game ah at home to Tottenham. Sorry guys. I just don't think that happened I think it'll be probably it'll be a goal game to to to and for some reason kind of is gonna score two goals or one goal and everyone's gonna forget about his performance and then if you're going to think I'm just crazy again, yeah So to personally spite you, Havoc's is going to score two goals. All right, Chris, your prediction please for the Derby. I think it's the same as Oli. I think it's going to be 2-1, something like that. Maybe, maybe, maybe
00:38:09
Speaker
but they'll lose that You'll lose your heads, free one. um it could It could get a bit tasty. and there's a lot There's a lot of anger about a lot of things. you know What ball are we using for a start? You guys are watching the ball. I was wondering if that was going to come up. I'll leave it to the end. I've got someone left to tick. All right, that's enough. No, but I think it's going to be yeah obviously a close game. It always is, isn't it? and It doesn't doesn't matter what form we're in, really. um We'll be up for it. and It just depends on um on who's playing and who plays well on the day. But yeah, I couldn't tell you on on the on the start of line that because I'm a little bit confused now because I thought we were going to go a bit softer ah against Hanworth. But it was proven right that we didn't. And yeah. I mean, ah we both played pretty strong teams in the FA Cup. I mean, Arsenal certainly did. I'm going to go 4-3.
00:39:02
Speaker
Arsenal. I think there are goals in this and I think despite the fact that Arsenal's offence has not been great. It's like a plan, is it? No, no, no, no, no. Do you know who I can score against? I honestly believe you're scoring four goals. I have a theory that is going to make Josh lose all faith in me about who might score a couple.
00:39:21
Speaker
I think we could see a resurgent, oh good god night oh god no. Is it me or is he massively overrated? He's awful Chris, he's awful. I've been telling the voice, he's awful. Apparently he's the best finisher at the club, my arse. Finish this dinner off. Raheem Sterling. I think Raheem Sterling will get a couple.
00:39:45
Speaker
it looked He might not start, but I think he'll come on and get a couple. I think there's goals in this game. That'll be tough to take, or even ah done like that. If Stirling is not scoring two against us, there is no way.
00:39:58
Speaker
Bring it on, lads. Bring it on. We shall see. And with that, I think it's probably time to end the recording today. Thank you so much to everybody who is listening.
