Introduction and Season Overview

00:00:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello, hello, hello, everybody. Welcome to Daily Tottenham. And this one is a crossover episode with the Daily Man United. And I have Cormac ah with me today. Hello, Cormac.
00:00:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
How are you doing?
00:00:22
Cormac
Doing all alright, looking forward.
00:00:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Doing all right, mate.
00:00:24
Cormac
yeah
00:00:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's through gritted teeth. We spoke before this started and I said, well, you know what? It's ah it's a strange situation we both find ourselves in, mate, isn't it?
00:00:33
Cormac
ah absolutely i mean United's season has just been brutal, but as I was saying, I all kind of forget, like Spurs, you're having just as bad as the season. I think in 14th, we're up in 13th, so that it's been Complete and contrast really to to last season, both just s slipping down and yeah, it's quite unbelievable really.

Ownership and Management Changes

00:00:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a crazy situation you both find ourselves in, but regards to ownership. um You guys have been through it previously anyway. um Is it wishful thinking for us Spurs fans to want to change ownership or will it make the difference? but How have you guys found it? Because you went through that process. It was a long and drawn out process and you had someone coming in by it and against you guys at the weekend can we will have some demonstrations outside. We're really big at organised one and we'll have some stuff happening inside the ground as well.
00:01:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
um It's so hard when you hear stuff like that as a Spurs fan because you want to bat the team, but at the same point there's a bigger finger, a foot, and you kind of have to take a viewpoint on that as well. How have you guys found it since, you know, your your new ownership?
00:01:43
Cormac
Yeah, I mean, to be fair, they've only been in Watts since the summer. So I think time will tell, but I mean, I think the summer business they've owned was fantastic. You know, you look at the recent years, you know, either where it's just splashing cash, buying players who just don't pan out at all, you know. um So I thought their business this summer was really sensible, although it was for 10 hag, his kind of signings. Maybe not now they're working out under Amarene, but I thought like Matisse to lift for around 40 million pounds was you know, a great deal.
00:02:13
Cormac
Maserati for £18 million, pounds I think is up there as one of, you know, the signings of the season in terms of getting bang for buck. And yeah, it was just a nice change of pace, getting new owners in and kind of doing more sensible signings because, you know, years before that, you're looking at players like De Maria, we're splashing cash on, flapped, you know, like even Mason Mount a few seasons ago of £60 million, £65 million pounds and he's barely even played for us.

Player Performance and Team Strategy

00:02:38
Cormac
Sonoya.
00:02:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
What has happened to him? Is he is he's injured?
00:02:41
Cormac
Yeah, just,
00:02:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Does he just not suit the style now or has he totally gone off the ball?
00:02:45
Cormac
Yeah, I know it's another muscle injury, I believe he has, but it's a shame because in preseason he was looking decent and then I know Amarene was talking about how Mount really would suit his um five, you know, two to one play side or whatever the formation is.
00:03:00
Cormac
But yeah, I know it's a shame. because i
00:03:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
You don't know the formation.
00:03:03
Cormac
I mean, i it's kind of hard for you to play with wingers so much. For now, I think it's like kind of a blend of attacking mid-wingers. But no, it's mount it's a shame because I really would like to see him in the system. I think he tried. I think his pressing and stuff would be great. Yeah, it's just a shame because at Chelsea, I thought he was a great player and haven't really got to see him that much at all in United Jersey.
00:03:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's a classic case of, obviously, injuries getting in the way of of ah of a run of games where you can actually stamp your authority on a match, and on a team, sorry, but also, manager changes, um players around you changing.
00:03:33
Cormac
Yeah.
00:03:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's It's a difficult one, isn't it? Ameren's obviously coming, you know, from as as a Spurs fan, we've we've got Anj under hell of a lot of pressure at the moment. um still splits the Spurs fan base regardless of if they want him in and want them out. Is he the reason? Is the starlet play the reason? They're getting injuries, etc, etc.
00:03:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
um There's no doubt that that's obviously had an and impact on the match a team going forward and how we've been actually doing in the league and now the cups, unfortunately. um But, you know, I'm speaking to a Man United fan here who Christ, we are too both favourites to win the Europa, to be fair. So we've, ironically, if we do get through, we could play us each other in the final and to save a season, that would be phenomenal, wouldn't it?
00:04:28
Cormac
Oh, yeah, absolutely. I mean, I mean, you know, you'd have been looking really good in your league unbeaten. So, yeah, I think might be the same for you, but I think for you now, you to know top four European football and the league's kind of s slipping away. So I'm thinking these cop competitions really should be more of an emphasis put on it.
00:04:46
Cormac
um But yeah, I mean if you're hiding swears or to get that I think that would be one of the most I'd say tantalizing matches in a while with how much is on the line for both big clubs Yeah, it's not even get any European football. It's obviously a disappointment for both
00:05:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
but you might get some for the FA Cup and obviously you're going to be alright with VAR being introduced now or...
00:05:07
Cormac
Yeah, honestly, I completely forgot it was not

Controversies and Challenges in Football

00:05:11
Cormac
even in it. And then just looking at that goal, I don't know how the lines have missed it. The Maguire goal against Leicester last minute. I mean, it was three or four players offside, but, um, uh, look, it's not there.
00:05:21
Cormac
What can you do about it? We move on. Um, yeah.
00:05:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly. No point complaining about it.
00:05:26
Cormac
No.
00:05:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I felt sorry for Ruvan Nissleroy because his team played well to be fair, away from home.
00:05:28
Cormac
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
00:05:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
But hey, that's the luck, isn't it? And I guess it brings over that AGO question, regards to VER being introduced, is it better without it? Just move on. I don't know.
00:05:41
Cormac
Yeah, well, I mean, as an Irish fan, we all remember the teary on Rehan ball. I know every Irish fan back then would save the air as a must. So I think just for moments like that, I know the air slows the game down. And you can obviously, when it comes to millimeters and stuff, it's really just who's behind the beer room or up top. But I think for for the game, I think it's better than it is worse. you know I think they catch a lot of things that would go astray. um So although it s slows it down, I think the error is for the betterment of the game.
00:06:14
Cormac
But I know it is a big talk in between funds.
00:06:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
i think I think you're right and I definitely am an advocate of it. It's just um when it it's introduced in a cup competition and and and some teams aren't used to it and some officials aren't used to it either or they're too used to you using it and as a I'll be okay because of our flag later on and it will go back to VR if I'm wrong.
00:06:25
Cormac
Yeah.
00:06:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's a catch-all wasn't it? So difficult but hey you guys are in the next round so congratulations.
00:06:37
Cormac
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
00:06:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
um We obviously suffered quite badly as per usual at the weekend.
00:06:42
Cormac
Thank you.
00:06:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
and And to be fair, Abilo were there to partake in. I didn't think they were anything special. We just didn't play very well. And as I said, a combination of tiredness and things like that. um How you find Amarin?
00:06:58
Cormac
Yeah, I was very excited when Amaran came in because a few weeks before that, you know, they beat City in the Champions League and I was like, wow, we're really getting this guy. um I do think it's a sense of, he doesn't have the players he wants.
00:07:10
Cormac
It's a lot of 10 hags players. Like we keep saying on our podcast, you know, a lot of these players just don't fit in the system. Like Joshua Zirk say he's not really an out and out striker, but yeah, I get, he's, I honestly don't know.
00:07:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
what yeah What is he?
00:07:23
Cormac
I feel like, yeah, I feel like more of like, honestly, a playmaker role too, but we have kind of two that they kind of play as wingers.
00:07:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Where can you fit him in? I don't know.
00:07:30
Cormac
So that's wasn't really suit him. So it's kind of tough fitting him in. And then even like, Bruno's having a drop deeper in the past, you know, playing a 4-3-3. Bruno was kind of sitting ahead of two defensive mids, dictating play, and now he's dropping deeper.
00:07:44
Cormac
And, yeah, and we've had, obviously, Luke Shaw's been a huge miss, so we've had to chop and change with fullbacks.
00:07:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's true.
00:07:50
Cormac
You know, like, we've seen him at Diallo. A few times he's played right wing back. He's been phenomenal, but even just having to play of wingers back there. um But, no, the thing I'd like to see about Amareme, I think he's very,
00:08:02
Cormac
going home with like his formation. I think he really wants to stick to that fight back. And I think just when it's not working, you have to try to change things up. And I'd like to see a bit more adaptability with them. You know, we're playing the likes of Southampton who we just scraped by, you know, they were dominating Australia for the most of the game and we shouldn't really be set up to, you know, defend and counter-attack against clubs like that. We could be on the forefront. So yeah, I'd like to see a bit more adaptability for memory, but It's only a few months in the job and I think he does need some signings. and We just got Patrick Dorgos, so hopefully he'll come into his own. But yeah, I think just a bit more time when I'm reading, but yeah, the results have just been poor and we have been useless really lately.
00:08:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, you've you echoed what a lot of Spurs fans said about wanting to change in adaptability of of tactics in particular in matches and that's certainly what something which Anish doesn't want to do. He's very stuck in all his ways and he's obviously had the season pre anyway. He's got some players in which he wanted.
00:09:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
and and no doubt when we've got a first 11 on the pitch we can compete with most teams if not all the teams to be fair on our given day but um yeah you get some injuries and your squad isn't deep enough you can't do anything then so i guess that's the other issue after that point isn't it the equality even if you've got some you've brought some players to fill the bench they know they're being full for the bench and they're also not going to be this type of quality which typically Man United have had because they've had good young players coming through who are world-class players, to be fair, or will be. So it's that balance, I guess.
00:09:32
Cormac
Yeah, no, definitely. And, you know, we've had copy men who come through the recent years, even he's kind of finding his feet in the

Team Development and Future Prospects

00:09:38
Cormac
system. But yeah, no, I, I'm really, he's given Toby Collier, I think who's looked really good in the few games he played.
00:09:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
elli dson yeah
00:09:44
Cormac
Yeah, he he does really, I thought against Rangers in the Europa league. He was phenomenal. Um, and obviously we've signed it in heaven from Arsenal recently. So I'm excited to see him. So, yeah, no, getting to go crap the young players in and giving them time is definitely key.
00:09:56
Cormac
Um, and yeah, just making the right science. I think even the business, any us are doing. It's kind of getting more players who want to play for the badge, I think more than in the past, where we're they're just coming for big wages, really.
00:10:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
i do i do right Let's have a quick break and after the break we'll have a quick chat about what the heck we can do to get our owners changed. If possible get some tips from the Man United faithful and and then we'll talk a bit about more about the possible lineups and and I'll have a look at the previous histories in the Premier League for the last couple of seasons as well. right
00:11:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think I could probably say that off by heart. That whole thing now. I mime it every time it plays. um So, back to Man United Spurs. So, over previous history, history um last match in the league, I think, was 19th of December, which you lost 44. So, 43 win for Spurs. 29th of September, when before that, again, lost that one 3-0 away. All right.
00:11:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Then we have 14th of January, 2024, two 19th of August, 2023, two will win. In fact, you have to go back to 19th of October, 2022, when you will ask one or two to win.
00:11:53
Cormac
Wow, just two and a half years.
00:11:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So in the league,
00:11:55
Cormac
ne Yeah, yeah.
00:11:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah in the league it's been a but but I think that shows how open both sides are and attacking minded they are and anyway or not very good at defending to be fair as well so it always are exciting matches and they're always always goals so we'll talk about match predictions later on but this has no no written all over it.
00:12:13
Cormac
Oh, yeah.
00:12:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
on um I've now absolutely tempted fate so here the heck knows.
00:12:15
Cormac
Yeah. No.
00:12:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
um if If you wanted to um have any player from the past who would you have back in your team?
00:12:25
Cormac
Oh, Annie player from the past back in the team.
00:12:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because you've got some hell of a players.
00:12:28
Cormac
Oh yeah. I mean, she's, I think the list is endless. Um, yeah, I mean, right now we need so many, but I think I have to say we've been struggling to score goals. I think, and I think Christiana Ronaldo has to be the one you take back.
00:12:41
Cormac
Um, yeah, just see what's phenomenal that, you know, you had so sad he left when he did to go to Madrid, but, um, yeah, what an absolute fantastic player privileged. He got the player for, you know, you did twice even coming back a few years ago.
00:12:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and he was good in the second but spell as well to be honest.
00:12:55
Cormac
Oh, he was.
00:12:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
His record was pretty decent, wasn't it?
00:12:56
Cormac
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's...
00:12:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just that he was a different animal then and bigger than the club, I would say, in some some respects.
00:13:00
Cormac
Oh, yeah. Absolutely, yeah. And scored a decent hat-trick against Spurs, too.
00:13:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:13:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
don't We don't talk about that. Move along. um It must have been half of Ruvan Nussleroy, because he was a prolific striker as well, just watching and seeing the the team which he does love, because obviously until recently he was he was managing them for a Kurtiger period, which is ironic.
00:13:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
He must be looking at it and thinking, God, I could still play here. ah could like could I could do something at the top still, I'm pretty sure.
00:13:27
Cormac
oh Oh, absolutely. I mean, it's, uh, I feel sorry for those lads, even every time they show off Fergie and Stan's having to watch this football, because yeah, from what United were so dominant to what it is now, it's just sad to watch really. Um, but no, I mean, rude van, this is right. Honestly, going back to when he was managers for those few games, I was really impressed with him. We had three wins in a draw in that span and we were playing like good football. We actually played Leicester twice in those games and better than both times.
00:13:56
Cormac
um So yeah, I think if we hadn't honestly given Amarene the contract, I would have been absolutely over the moon if we had kept Ruud on because I thought he was doing a fantastic job. And obviously now he's never a relegation battle with Lestrie, went into a job that wasn't going well there. But yeah, I really liked Ruud and I'd love to see him turn around there.
00:14:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's no doubt he's a good manager. I think that sometimes when you have elite level players and they turn to managers, they almost expect the players to do what they could do. And sometimes it doesn't come through. So when you're working with lesser players, it can be a little bit frustrating, I'd imagine.
00:14:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Especially, why is he not finishing that?
00:14:32
Cormac
no no
00:14:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Why is he not taking the extra touch? Well, because they haven't got the skill set to be able to do it, or they're not you, if that makes sense.
00:14:35
Cormac
Is it actually? No. Mm-hmm.
00:14:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it must be quite difficult for a top level one to be able to do that. And when you see people doing well um past players who are absolutely um unbelievable players, sedans, that well, there's there's probably a reason why a sedan hasn't come and managed.
00:14:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Millwall or ah with respect to Millwall, sorry guys, um or Plymouth Argyle, whoever else, you know, because you're only going to get a certain amount of quality of player from them, aren't you?
00:14:57
Cormac
Yeah. but Yeah.
00:15:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
And you may as well go out um and get the best and do well at Real Madrid, to be fair.
00:15:08
Cormac
Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely.
00:15:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
i
00:15:09
Cormac
absolutely

Infrastructure and Fan Influence

00:15:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
So um when you're obviously linked with play coaches like Zadam and stuff, I think that wasn't too many years ago, and you did have a reasonable team then, but again, it's just a setup, I guess, really as well.
00:15:18
Cormac
Yeah.
00:15:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
and um his what The main attraction would be the coach.
00:15:21
Cormac
Yeah.
00:15:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Where are you now with your with your with your stadium and stuff like that then? Because I'm going to talk about oh my magic stadium, of course I am, because that's all that Spurs is now.
00:15:31
Cormac
Yeah. yeah
00:15:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Great venue for for any any concert or NFL game.
00:15:38
Cormac
Yeah, i mean to be fair, your stadium is quality. um I love watching games. and stay The stadium in the wall behind the goal looks unreal, to be fair. ah But yeah, I know in terms of Old Trafford, I believe there are any of us want to build a completely new stadium because Old Trafford, obviously, is due for an upgrade.
00:15:53
Cormac
But I don't think they can expand it much more than it already is in terms of capacity and modernize it that much.
00:15:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, okay.
00:15:59
Cormac
So I know any of us have been looking at just building a whole new brand new stadium, I think, at even a different site, which It's a shame because Old Trafford is so iconic. You know, it survived World War II even. And it's just been around for so long. And I honestly would be devastated if if any of us followed through and actually build a brand new one and got rid of Old Trafford because it is so iconic. But I do get from their point of view, like you United is one of the biggest clubs in the world. And, you know, I'm sure if you bump the tenants up to like 90,000, you still be selling most of the tickets. So I get it on a business side, but from a football side,
00:16:37
Cormac
I really hope old Trafford says.
00:16:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, we had this conversation on on the Spurs podcast earlier where what What can you do just you know to stop, to tent change owners, and will fans be able to say, you know, we're not going to watch the match, nobody turns. That's not going to happen, because there's always people who will take it. If you give your season tickets back, there's always people there who will say, OK, OK, I can understand the situation, but I'm not going to have a chance of getting a season ticket. This is the only chance I'm getting one, because it might not be for this season, but it's for the rest of the season moving forward. You've pretty much got no chance of getting one unless someone passes away, unfortunately.
00:17:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
um or get so fed up, they rip it up and and that's it. ah or COVID happens and things like that. So it's a difficult one. Businesses and they're widespread, they don't become a... It's not really a... Although it is, it's a...
00:17:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
a club for the local community, it's not really at all. It's just in the community, and the community benefits from that. so I think if if if you look at what happened with Spurs, basically, they didn't want them to move out in that area because it would have killed the area. um There's so many businesses there, so they did as much as they could to change transport links, et cetera, et cetera, to make it still viable there.
00:17:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
and we had to go for a process where we could move obviously play our rec games at Wembley. But ever since that move, um just for the man you might have found listening, we've been pretty dire on the football pitch. It hasn't correlated to any increase. All it's done is changed the animal of of of what we are as Tottenham Hotspur Football Club as a business. We're certainly not a football team company and that soul's gone out of it And that's what you guys are trying to get back against yourself as well So it's really weird how we're in that same sort of place I could be fighting for a very similar position in the league currently as well and with two teams who Although you're going through transition you got a man who's not been in there very long we've got somebody who is suffering with X amount of injuries and he is
00:18:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
He has aged by 50-odd years in this season, I think. And I feel really sorry for the guy. But it's football. And at some point, we're kind of waiting for this for the chop of Anj, unfortunately, because you know it's going to happen.
00:18:53
Cormac
Yeah, yeah.
00:18:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hopefully not too soon.
00:18:54
Cormac
Yeah, no, I was actually going to ask like, yeah, what the consensus being you think amongst the Spurs fans, because, you know, I feel like if you know, you did manager, obviously, I think gets a bit more pressure.
00:19:05
Cormac
But, you know, 10 hag was under the gun very early on the season, even when we were only seventh, you know, eighth. And now we've dropped off much even worse and people were calling, you know, for him to get sacked very ah early on the season.
00:19:17
Cormac
So do you think consensus kind of amongst the Spurs fans now is for him to get the job?
00:19:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
They're split. They have been split for a long time.
00:19:25
Cormac
yeah okay
00:19:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously, when you get a new manager, there's always going to be people who are saying, why are you getting that person in? um And I think that iss an there is an element of he's not going to throw his toys out the pram and do something to get himself sacked.
00:19:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
So realistically, he's there and just almost not a northern and dog in some respect without being disrespectful to him.
00:19:46
Cormac
Yeah, okay.
00:19:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Whereas we've had top managers who have fallen out with Levy quite quickly and called them out on it, and they couldn't really stay in the positions after that, could they? You call out their boss. To be fair, there's only one boss in the in ah in a workplace. um So that's happened quite a lot. I can't see that happened to Levy. And as but as long as the money comes in, I think Enoch are pretty OK.
00:20:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
But on the football side of it, you know, I would have backed him to the end of the season just to give some stability, um changing the manager. ah Again, we speak about a lot of Spurs podcasts, but for the Man United fans, changing the manager right now does nothing. We're still in Europa. God, you know, that's what we have to go for and hope our players are back in the team for that. And if we give give it our best shot as a league position, that's going to get better. Sure it is. And it will get better for Man U as well. Just got to find some rhythm and get a settled team and find a formation that works for Man U, I guess. But for us, yeah, we've,
00:20:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
we've We've really got to, you know, I would stick behind him. There's no point in changing the manager. There's no managers out there who will come in now anyway and work with Ange.
00:20:58
Cormac
sure
00:21:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ange is the problem. um And when people say it to his face, they aren't there for very long, unfortunately. And that goes for players too. Players have questioned the backing of the manager because they can see it every day and they can see their their fellow teammates getting injured because of workload.
00:21:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yet, things aren't done, all things are done very late, all things are done just to you know get a bit of media coverage. Oh, we might be putting X amount of bidding for Mark A on the last last day of this transfer window. Well, that's never going to happen because they've got to replace that person even if they the money was right. So they knew this. And so Spurs fans in general, from the ones I speak to, are still massively be split on the whether we should stay or go. Everyone doesn't
00:21:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
want Levy in charge, or Enoch in charge, they want something changing at the top, because that's the only way we can get that. As Man United have found, that kind of change in what we do and offer all the way through the club, you want to be playing for your owner, don't you? And you want that person to be a football person at the end of the day, and that's not what he is, unfortunately. He's seen a lot of football, but how much he actually cares about it, we don't know what we do. It's very little in my opinion, so.
00:22:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
um After break, we'll talk about um possible lineups, et cetera, for the weekend. And then we do the score prediction. It's never right, but we do then.
00:23:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome back, welcome

Injuries and Player Updates

00:23:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
back. So, team news, what's going on with Man U? Are they still playing Kobe Man U as a secondary striker? What's going on?
00:23:29
Cormac
Yeah, no, I guess Palace, everyone's seen that, but no, last game in the Leicester City, I think up clash, we reverted back to Highland and then Zurich State come on as well later. um But yeah, I mean, the only real team news that's come in the past is the Sandro Martinez, you know, tearing his ACL out for the season, which is a huge loss for us.
00:23:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Big loss, good player.
00:23:49
Cormac
Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. um And then obviously the second bit of team news is we got Patrick Dorgoo in from Lecha, I think around 35 million pounds. so
00:23:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Who? I'm joking, I'm joking.
00:24:01
Cormac
but I mean, to be fair, before I was getting reported, I wasn't too familiar with them either. But i not...
00:24:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've done YouTube, haven't you? You look good on YouTube.
00:24:08
Cormac
Exactly. um But no, yeah, he played, I think, just a half against Leicester there. Funnily enough, he actually played right wing back. Not sure why. am I thought we'd buy a left wing back to play a left wing back.
00:24:21
Cormac
um But, yeah, anyway, I don't know what Amorim's cocking. But no, yeah, I mean, hopefully, Dorgo, I think Amorim's system relies a lot on these, you know, wing backs. And so I think once Dorgu gets a few games on her as well, I'm hoping results will really start to blossom. um But yeah, no, the the real only team loses, we have Dorgu and Eden, even Heaven in, although I don't think he'd play much. And then Martinez obviously is the one out, along with then Luke Shaw and Mount have been out for a while.
00:24:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah, I think he he's just tinkering there to to try and find the right layout, hasn't he? And I guess that he's probably, what would you say, four, three, four players short of getting what he wants?
00:24:55
Cormac
Exactly.
00:25:01
Cormac
Mm hmm.
00:25:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Would that include a another striker, do you think?
00:25:05
Cormac
Yeah, no.
00:25:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because obviously he had the guy at sporting.
00:25:09
Cormac
yeah Yeah, no, I think definitely strike on me. I mean, Jacquez, I think has to be who who will go for in the summer. um Oh, absolutely.
00:25:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
The money's got to be on that happening, surely.
00:25:18
Cormac
Yeah. um I mean, so familiar with Amorim, you know, brought him in from Coventry City um and yeah has just been lighting up the Portuguese League and even won out of Hatred against City and the Champions League.
00:25:29
Cormac
um So yeah, I think he has to be number one. Dessertsy, as we talked about earlier, just don't think he's an out-and-out striker. And then we paid a lot of money for Rasmus Hylin, but Hylin's still young and he just really isn't that reliable. i He'll have spells where he'll score goals, but I mean, recently he just hasn't been doing much, and his general play really just hasn't been that good either. and So yeah, I think a striker, we're we're not scoring as many goals as we like, I think a striker has to be top of the list. And yeah, if git we could get Kiakre, I would be delighted with that.
00:25:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think for a Man United Striker, um you either go out and buy big money play it like you did previously and hopefully they they will work. um there's Some of them have, there have not always been failures, um but he needs something about you, he needs something a bit special. Even if it's raw, I don't necessarily think he has that. I think he's a hard working player, ah but I'm not sure.
00:26:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
that's his level in my own opinion that's just for me watching and him you know for instance i'll look at the players which we brought in for our youngsters and i think you know berg val would do well in a man you know obviously he was think touted for manu as well um i think he'd do well because he's he's got something about him in particular and grey well i don't know because we haven't seen this proper position yet to be fair um yeah yeah he has he's been he's been the for me for me players season to be fair but um
00:26:26
Cormac
Yeah.
00:26:39
Cormac
If you've been playing all over.
00:26:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think for us, we've we've got a few players coming back. We've got Vicario, um we've got Madison and a doggy who are going to be able to come back into the team at some point. It will be available for the weekend. It'd be interesting to see what Anj does. He hasn't rushed them back. Apparently they've they've been ready before um before now, but he's not rushed them back in. um I think he will be playing them at some point, whether or not they start. I don't know. I think we would like to see a Spurs fans, we'd probably like to see a doggy replace Poirot.
00:27:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
so we've got Spence and Doggy and Keep, Grey and Davies in the centre I guess um or holding the new guy down so you did a really good job actually to be fair so days yeah I'll do that Grey and down so in the centre. Midfield there's been a bit of a problem over the last couple of games not because of Bergvile he's been playing well but we haven't pretty much like you guys, we haven't really got the quality, in my opinion, or they haven't lived up to it in Pusuma, who a lot of players, a lot of fans now just want to get rid of him because he's just so unreliable, he doesn't give, he doesn't show up, unfortunately. And even Bentoncore, which is a fan's favourite, and who's, you know, I've wrote about some of his performance as well, in last couple of matches, he's not been great. So, a bit frustrating on that set that side a bit.
00:28:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
But um yeah, Strikers, again, we've got sun Sonny, you need to rest. um He's not going to rest him, you'll play him again, but I would love him to have a rest and just play. Mikey Moore on the left.
00:28:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:28:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Maybe maybe so he won't we won't play Scarlett because he doesn't trust him from the start. He might bring him on. He'll play Tell and then he'll play Kudaszewski who also needs a rest. In fact, lots of them need a rest. So who knows what's going to happen. Madison is there obviously there to bring him to the midfield. I don't know if he'll start him but he will be great for creativity even against um other teams like Leicester, there were gaps there where he could have done something and he could have done something to it but he just wasn't available so it's a shame.
00:28:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Where are the things we can look out for with regards to frailties of Man United? Don't say all over because um I'll probably say that for our spares.
00:29:05
Cormac
ah I mean, yeah, you touched on the midfield. I mean, we've kind of been chopping change and they're obviously under 10 high. Casamiro was a player there, although he's kind of coming, you know, at the end of his career, not as good as he once was. So I feel like we've kind of struggled to find those two defensive mids. Ugarate, I think has been decent enough. Obviously still find his feet, but he's showing a bit of bite, a bit of hunger in that midfield. And I've been a fan of his. And then recently we've been dropping Bruno off kind of in the defensive
00:29:37
Cormac
midfield role as well but as we know Bruno really isn't that kind of player so I think around those areas Spurs could maybe um find some success you said if Madison comes back you know operating that area I think could be quite dangerous um and then obviously I mean up front I don't want think you have too much to worry about maybe on the counter attack it depends really if Heuland or Xerxes is gonna be up there Heuland has a lot more pace and could possibly cause problems in behind, combining with Gernacho and Diallo as well.
00:30:07
Cormac
and But I think, you know, touching on Diallo, I think he's the one to watch for us. He's been fantastic.
00:30:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep. Well, you scored Tuesday against us in the Cup, didn't you?
00:30:13
Cormac
Yeah, exactly.
00:30:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, a little while ago, so...
00:30:15
Cormac
um So, yeah, I know he's been just like against Southampton, scored a hard trip, pulled us out of a game we should have lost, really. um So, yeah, I think he's the one to watch out for us. And then, obviously, our season really set pieces.
00:30:28
Cormac
I think that's where we're most vulnerable. um you know, Irishmen had their way with us, many teams had their way with us on set pieces. um So I think that's where you could be dangerous as well. I think you might have even bagged one last time against, or you scored actually from a direct corner or against us in Cup.
00:30:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep, yep.
00:30:43
Cormac
So yeah, I think those are areas you could possibly exploit. um Yeah.
00:30:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
We, yeah, set pieces are one of the ones where we, depending on who's in goal, um, that will dictate whether or not we're going to be good at set pieces of the thing. If Ikaro comes back, he gives a lot of, uh, leadership, but yeah, um, on corners, he's not commanding enough, um, but he's a better shot stopper than Kingsky, in my opinion.
00:31:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But so it's a real toss-up between those two to be fair um But um yeah, I mean We're like you we could be probably beating with most things in you know pushing forward too much space behind ah Midfield have a massive gaps in it Drop into a big deeper midfield and they've been gaps there Madison has played the same role as fer Fernandez is currently and to be honest, it doesn't suit him. He's more of a front foot player That's why he works better on the break turning quickly like Fernandez does to be putting those sliding balls through for your wingers and we just haven't had the wingers to be able to do that.
00:31:42
Cormac
Yeah,
00:31:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Tell looks a decent buy and I think he'll get a few goals before the end of the season as well. He's already got one obviously in the last match but that was just an opportunity to cross and goal and it was too late unfortunately.
00:32:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we shall see what's your score prediction?

Match Predictions and Closing Remarks

00:32:07
Cormac
I think. I honestly ran into something early with the Ninlil. I gotta say, I think a 1-1 draw. um I just think the way the club's there, they're so tight now, bottom half the table, I think. You know you'd have been struggling to score a lot. um and yeah I just see it kind of being in a low-scoring one, even though we've had kind of higher scoring ones in the past. I think this one's just set up for low-scoring ones, so I'm gonna go a 1-1 draw.
00:32:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Interesting there'd be a lot of nervousness both sides because we both need points um One point is not really enough is it to be fair, if you're going to share it.
00:32:42
Cormac
Yeah.
00:32:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
um i I'm going to stick with what I said on a Spurs podcast earlier on.
00:32:45
Cormac
Yeah.
00:32:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to go for 2-0 to us. um Totally unfounded, no reason for saying that. and There's a clean sheet which we can't keep, so I'm just hoping for something. I don't know.
00:32:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
I won't put any money on it, so we'll see. um Look, it's been really good meeting you and having you on the show today. um that's about all we got i believe any final you want to say ah prefer about spurs
00:33:12
Cormac
um
00:33:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
many
00:33:13
Cormac
no ah just I'm hoping you know you've beat us the last two times, so i mean although I said a draw, I really hope we can break the curse and the third time's the charm for us and we come to Tottenham Stadium and win.
