The Big Dog: um yeah i'm trying to remember exactly where i left off but yeah i mean i think it would be better for all of us to at the company it is. to wait. you know,

The Big Dog: January 1st or sometime thereafter to. Trying to pick up Beck. or to fully launch this product because i think you know we're slated to get it back in the middle of november even with 30 days what my boss originally said we were to launch you know it puts us in the middle of december and it's like salespeople are already meeting their quotas you know they're Got all... Most of the business, plus when it comes down, it's going to be down to holidays. so

The Big Dog: Yeah. I'm going to talk it over with my direct boss, and then we're going to pitch you know maybe the full full scope of everything. to my vp on on monday and kind of go from there but I think secretly this.

The Big Dog: hiccup maybe it was a blessing in the skies because i think it kind of just set research. patients. you know back properly, so Um, it And you know, it doesn't put the stress on me it to be able. to have to like focus on you know and overworking and getting burnt out because that's kind of where i was ending up

The Big Dog: Anyway, so...

The Big Dog: um

David Isaacs: Yeah. potentially um Yeah, it seems like coming in and dropping the hammer. it's just trying to create Like sense of urgency. but Like you said, I mean.

David Isaacs: gonna have to restart all over. Um... like going to a different company. but people Like...

David Isaacs: Trying to make this minimum viable product. functional over two weeks. I mean, that's also not. like you're not gonna like the output of what they get So.

David Isaacs: I think that's typically when it comes to... you know executive type people as they set their expectation. And then... you have to kind of come in and Explain to them why that's not possible.

David Isaacs: And it's pretty much like... most of their job. Is that back and forth? Um, but I really hate. I hate it. um it happens at my company too like this needs to be done today Okay, well what does it actually do?

David Isaacs: And then you find out. you know where we're supposed to look at it. Didn't look at it until next week. it's like is that really

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: It's not really helpful. like by saying that you were able to get it done. today. But they. Still don't look at it until next week. And then by the time they look at it and they... want some changes done to it you've pretty much just like funneled everything away.

David Isaacs: and then have to start again from zero. I know this isn't your... This is your grievance, but it's mine along the same. lines of Um... creating that sense of urgency.

David Isaacs: um but it's probably you know probably a grievance that this company is going to have to deal with Uh... When. wanting it done, soft launch, and then... Um, you know coming back with all the complaints and everything and expecting those to be fixed. right away because really their only goal was to try to get the project done.

David Isaacs: in a good amount of time. but you know there's never really a right answer i think it's always kind of exists in the middle Just because it can be done in two weeks doesn't mean it should be. End. Is it really going to take them?

David Isaacs: you know two months Finish it? Probably not. Um, but somewhere in the middle, but like you said. deal with the holidays. Don't want to rush people. and You know.

David Isaacs: There's other things to look at and feel good about. regardless of you know if this project's not working as fast as uh, whoever. takes a look at and expects it to move faster.

David Isaacs: So. Yeah, that's tough. sorry you're dealing with that but it sounds like you have ah different, better perspective on it. and Yeah, I think you're right that it could be. A blessing in disguise. and

David Isaacs: Personally now you have to shift your focus into doing what you needed to do for the projects. and it's good to take a step back and just kind of put things down. and try to you know estimate level of effort and when you can get them done but now you have to Kind of present out. all the reasons why.

David Isaacs: this project isn't going to be done in two weeks. I guarantee you this is going to be like, yeah. no it's not gonna be done but i wanted to... I wanted to light a fire under them or, you know, some other corpo speak.

The Big Dog: Yeah. ah

The Big Dog: It's just like... Because our... our development contract expires on the 31st. you know, so. All right. and That deadline was only three days before. our contract was supposed to end. you know, and.

The Big Dog: They were supposed to have it up on their current site. you know end of july early august but it just like it was just the same issue that kept coming up it was an indexing issue like they just kept building terrible indexes and and i don't have to get down to the Um...

The Big Dog: I don't have to get in into the technical terms, but it was just like the same function kept happening. I pointed it out. um you know, Bye. And they kept saying to her. project manager on the vendor side of you know we're once we finish this qat or s sorry, UET, then...

The Big Dog: we're done like just promote this to the next level and let's move on but it was just stuck in limbo for two months and And I kept expressing my frustration to... vp and you know he's hearing it from his family who's the controlling board yada yada yada so there you know it was just like a whole shit runs downhill right now it's like you know we're or so human centipede almost like where it's just like We're just kind of in like the shitty situation of.

The Big Dog: We're all kind of tied together, but we can't go anywhere. You know, it means we're just Um, you were stuck so Uh... And I think he knew in in the end that like...

The Big Dog: Again, kind of like what I was saying earlier, it's like, do we really want just want to start over? And, you know, now we're. so you know, six months. Now we're sick. potentially six or more months behind and like we're using technology that We don't necessarily like we have to go shopping again. Right. So, you know.

The Big Dog: to your point of just You know, things may be frustrating that are out of it. control and keep Just kind of keep adding. up piling you know it's like we don't want to shoot ourselves in the foot like that so we kind of all came to the agreement of

The Big Dog: You know.

The Big Dog: we'll get this all taken care of of please you know put in the same amount of effort on your side Um, And yeah, I mean, it was it was. A good meeting and we're. I guess kind of.

The Big Dog: back on track and and our project manager is using like words i had never heard like it was like She's actually getting over involved in this process. And that's so. And this company is losing money. Like they were funding.

The Big Dog: they're funding the whole bill for this so i you know I would have thought on their side, just from that standpoint of.

The Big Dog: Get this project out faster because no one's making money on this. Um...

David Isaacs: yeah It kind of seems like the index issue. is not only the index issue but everything that they tied to the index so when they're indexing like they were

The Big Dog: Yeah, exactly. exactly

David Isaacs: Yeah. So. day. pretty much have to start over. and they're not wanting to Um,

The Big Dog: Right.

David Isaacs: End. Probably not. know accepting of that fact.

The Big Dog: Well, Yeah, I mean... I I guess to get into it Um... yeah it was the because On our platform, they have to build index. um They would.

The Big Dog: build the the index, but the company that we hired to to to build a search engine would add like filters or, you know, they'd activate. Good. you know certain product ids keywords you know putting more emphasis on that like tuning and then they wouldn't so they wouldn't tell them what they did so when the index would try and run nothing would happen

The Big Dog: And like. they were just like assigning tasks for people who weren't even involved in the process and it was just like It felt like a pain. It felt like pinball where it was just like ping ping ping ping ping ping and like but not in a good way like not where you're like racking up a high score in fact we were the low score um But...

The Big Dog: Anyway, that's... ah That's been my challenge is kind of like. Now kind of figuring out. okay how long is all of this stuff going to take once we get all this back you know we need to scope out a few other projects Um...

The Big Dog: So on and so forth. so

The Big Dog: Um... Yeah. I mean, that's kind of uh I guess all that I had on that butt. What else is going on with you, sir?

David Isaacs: Something weird. so I'm back in the gym. four times in the last seven days.

The Big Dog: Nice.

David Isaacs: Uh... not to brag you know Just gotta... Get the ah get the muscles move and shake the rest off for that. Definitely.

David Isaacs: Um... But yeah, I've been... I've been going early in the morning. And I tried to go... Well, I did go. Oh, no. Saturday.

David Isaacs: So I tried to go... you know, kind of right when they opened. They weren't open yet. Or no, I went at like... Seven. but they weren't open until 9. So I left, came back after I watched the Chelsea game because they were on at 7 .30. So I came back at like 10.

David Isaacs: It was just so busy in there. um

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: And that was tough. But what's also tough is like... you know, working my way out of this all or nothing mentality. So. typically know restarting again from zero a very atrophied boy that I am.

David Isaacs: Um, you know i'd go in and just try to throw some weight around until i got tired enough to go home But I told myself that. you know, it was really going and I do like.

David Isaacs: you know 20 30 percent of the weight that i typically would telling myself you know the goal is just to get in and you know kind of Hey. get.

David Isaacs: um get my feet wet basically again like um Get the motions back. um get the yeah muscle memory down for the things that I need to pack to be able to go to the gym, to change, to shower there.

David Isaacs: to use the sauna and all that.

The Big Dog: Right.

David Isaacs: Um, So that's been good. I've been sticking to it. The problem is that... you know my mindset and that change in my mindset it makes me feel like not as accomplished for going and doing it So... um that's another like experiment that i've been doing and one of the side effects that i've realized is that I...

David Isaacs: I have been good about continuing. um this habit At least so far. which could be attributed to that I'm not overdoing it. However... you know the feeling of satisfaction that I would typically get.

David Isaacs: is not. there. So it's a very weird. It's a very weird thing. like You went somewhere, you had a terrible time, but you can't wait to go back. Like, it it it makes no sense to me.

David Isaacs: Um, And maybe it's good that it doesn't make sense. So maybe it'll make more sense in the future. but um you know that was that had been my goal and i had you know tried to do it like that Um,

David Isaacs: You know, the last time that I i started, I think it was around. a similar theme of just not trying to take on too much at once. or maybe it was and I just kind of powered through it. um And maybe that was just low probability for me to continue. but um Like I mentioned last week.

David Isaacs: End. Maybe it was in therapy or maybe here, you know. that line starts to blur a little bit but just trying to raise the floor Um, So when I... I do have a reason Daphne having diarrhea at work. being way too stressful that um you know instead of going monday wednesday friday maybe i just go monday wednesday or maybe just like monday for one week or you know if the holiday is coming up maybe um

David Isaacs: Maybe it'll be less, you know, kind of depending on if the gym is going to be open or not. But it is, yeah, just kind of a really weird. uh

David Isaacs: Trying to wrap my head around. um Not as satisfied, but want to go back. Um, And... That's kind of one of the things that I've just been powering through and not trying to ask too many questions about because it seems to be working.

David Isaacs: You know. um and especially you know decluttering the house and getting um you know better habits about you know throwing things away instead of having him sit on the desk for so long until I... get the motivation to actually throw things away.

David Isaacs: um You know, my room's in a good spot now. I have more space. I want more space for activities. Um, activities being like stretching and I have Bye. space on my floor to put my sauna bag down.

David Isaacs: um but it's like cozy you know it it feels good to like feeling like a room has more space just like It's a really good feeling. Um...

David Isaacs: For whatever reason don't know why it is it works not gonna question it too much So yeah, there there have been things that have been going well. Um... Maybe with the job and kind of the lack of motivation. you know, still.

David Isaacs: just coming back and i I think I've gotten to the point where I'm starting to forget things and then I remember them and then I'm like, why did I forget it? and Yeah. So there's a lot of...

David Isaacs: I'm at like different stops in each like phase of life. you know around my personal life um around the gym around work you know everything that's outside of If there is a bucket outside of personal life work and the gym.

David Isaacs: Um, Like really at different stops and all of those so it's been interesting but the other thing too is like i just it's supposed to go to like de -stress but i have felt a difference in my personality since going back.

David Isaacs: I don't know if it's like... you know, anger necessarily. or Like, whats and what's going on? um but it could be part of it too where Looking for a way to de -stress.

David Isaacs: Maybe that's... you know Starting out. slow at the gym is not. helping me with the stress that's built up from. all the stuff that I've been doing at work. Again, I'm not.

David Isaacs: Not too keen, don't understand it all that well. and kind of in between not trying to ask too many questions but just do the work and Um, We know that it's a better path.

David Isaacs: than theyre just sitting around doing nothing.

The Big Dog: Yeah. um So I kind of. looked up What? you know, if there's any sort of medical term or something for this. so At least what?

The Big Dog: Peace and love. heard it sounds like it's anticipatory ed Ededonia? um so the impaired ability to look forward to or desired future rewarding experiences. so I don't know if it's... is a

The Big Dog: Just throwing out questions. could be like because like maybe like work has been stressful and everything's been stressful that like maybe your brain kind of like it's like hey maybe going to the gym's gonna make you feel better and it just like doesn't Um,

The Big Dog: You know, I don't know if it's... That or just... you know, I don't know, not a medical professional, but

David Isaacs: No, it's it's... It's just simply because I have a Neanderthal brain and... The gym is not hard enough. to you know warrant satisfaction by me So.

The Big Dog: Fair enough.

David Isaacs: Like having high standards for myself means that I have an all or nothing mentality so If I don't... do everything. then I don't feel like I've done anything.

David Isaacs: I think is the... the issue. And again, that's been my that's been my truth for.

The Big Dog: Gotcha.

David Isaacs: 31 years. Um, And you know, it was much more apparent. Um, as a youth and even at the the company for so long because you know If I made a mistake, it was like the end of the world.

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: You know because I I don't do that. I need to be Doing everything I need to be checking everything Um, And all that gets you is like...

David Isaacs: you know a one -way ticket to burning yourself out. Um... Whereas now... Like even with the gym, it's not as satisfying, but. you know, I make a mistake at work. It's like, all right.

David Isaacs: you know who cares People around here make mistakes all the time.

David Isaacs: And... you know i could have done better by it and i'll learn from it but in the meantime let's you know figure it out. and get to a solution and i'm sure there'll be something else that comes along the way that will need to be taken care of. but it's like i've gotten to a a point where it's like i i can't really like dwell on this i just need to You know.

David Isaacs: come clean, move forward.

David Isaacs: But yeah, it's been... but it could be anticipatory adidonia. Um, but It's not like I'm... you know, psych myself up like hell yeah, dog about to go lift.

David Isaacs: you know I'm about to work my biceps, you know, 10 pound.

The Big Dog: Get some gains.

David Isaacs: Dumbbells man, yeah. About to get a good pump. Um, something like that it's just um

The Big Dog: Right.

David Isaacs: you know Just trying to set myself up for success. and it just kind of it it feels more like a part of my routine but we know how it is you know with uh years resolutioners or even if you want to get back into the gym and You go real hard for like a week or two.

David Isaacs: or maybe just for like a week, you're like, I'm going to go to the gym every day. I'm going to lift so much weight. And you don't really know. How much is too much? and You wear yourself out and then you're like, all right, well I'll just give it a few days and then I'll go back. And then you don't.

David Isaacs: So. It's like... you know the opposite of smoking a pack a day. it's like Uh oh. Probably not a great metaphor, but...

David Isaacs: Um, It's like I haven't I haven't. Become addicted. I haven't become ah Addicted, also not a great term. but um I haven't allowed myself the time to really build the habit.

David Isaacs: you know and And if you were to start to smoke, you don't start smoking. a pack a day you know you you work your way up to it you don't uh the same thing for the gym you know i'm not gonna um i'm not gonna go you know all out And...

David Isaacs: you know, max. Press. everything on the first day. Because that's not feasible either. you know No one that gets into smoking starts by smoking a pack a day. Um, I know one that goes to the gym consistently ever started with.

David Isaacs: I'm gonna go... to the gym every day got a pump. ton of weight i'm gonna feel great like that just It doesn't happen. So whether... you know positive or negative i i think i think this is coming i think i think this is a good thought you know Whether it's positive or negative, whether it's...

David Isaacs: something that's bad for you or whether it's something that's good for you, you have to take the same mentality. you know people don't Probably don't plan out to. become a smoker it probably just happens but it happens over time it becomes more and more enamored in your routine whereas the gym you kind of have to take it the same way Am I making any sort of sense?

The Big Dog: Yeah, and I get it. Um...

The Big Dog: I think. you know Speaking to... Doing a... a you know, drink having a... being an alcoholic you know it's like that doesn't That takes time, right? i mean not being an alcoholic i mean that's almost you know that could that could be instantaneous right but but you know having a tolerance to the point where you're like i need i don't need i can't feel right like i need to just keep drinking and like blowing my lever out and

The Big Dog: Getting to the point where alcohol... it takes a heavy amount of alcohol for you to even feel affected yeah for sure that I get that. But yeah, I mean...

The Big Dog: a Yeah, you're right. I heard. i guess for to further your point yeah i mean it's like muscle memory and Um, time on task you know whether it's work the gym uh drinking smoking like they're the The things are... are take time they don't just happen instantaneously and you know as much as i'd like to think that sometimes with like

The Big Dog: There are times like we're at work. I'll just like. i don't feel like writing this script like i don't feel like testing this out let's go with ai you know Cause I get that it's instant dopamine and I'll feel instantly accomplished. But then like, I still have to spend the next like fucking two hours editing it. So.

David Isaacs: Keep talking.

The Big Dog: Yep. and

The Big Dog: you know Things like that. um Definitely have. Like that instant. Dopamine? Trip. Done. dopamine effect

The Big Dog: But... you know, using that specific instance, but. It's a

The Big Dog: I mean, it still definitely takes time. you know like ah if i were to just have wrote us you know had ai script and then just like thrown it into the universe and you know and didn't double check it anything, you know, again, that came with experience that's come with the last four or five years of Well, I guess more four years.

The Big Dog: um granting rating code and you know all that So...

The Big Dog: you know it's it's I guess it's just like... hard to

The Big Dog: maybe quantify all that but all the knowledge that i've gained and all the things that are going by just experiencing and like Also recognizing that like that one little dopamine hit isn't.

David Isaacs: the

The Big Dog: going to Like... It's only, it's it's it's fleeting. it comes and it goes and then like yeah i mean You almost get like an an at addict where you know you want to maybe experience that high and then maybe you...

The Big Dog: At some point, maybe build up this anticipatory edit at Adonia or however you actually pronounce this. But...

David Isaacs: And Hedonia, I think.

The Big Dog: And I don't know. Okay.

David Isaacs: So, like, Hedonia and then... and Hedonia.

The Big Dog: And Hedonia. Got it. ah Maybe that should be should be the name of our episode. Um,

David Isaacs: Yeah. um No, it just works in reverse. Anything that's positive for you. You know, it. It's a drip in a bucket versus anything that's bad for you, you know. that like you said the dopamine hit It's like...

David Isaacs: Um, you know instant it's you know a bucket into a bucket not like a drip into a bucket so anything healthy as you know, to take time to build up to actually have some effect, whereas anything that's unhealthy is like, you know, right away.

David Isaacs: whether it's alcohol or or nicotine. gambling or you know. what have you, versus... riding your bike, eating a good meal.

David Isaacs: you know just exercise in general going to sleep at a good time having good sleep habits um yeah it just takes so long to actually feel the effects of it and sometimes you just don't feel anything. Oh. which has been my issue in the past.

David Isaacs: of you know. um I'm trying to think back to a person that I used to be um you know, when I wasn't. eating well and i wasn't sleeping well and i wasn't exercising and It's very hard to look. past that versus Um, also you know when you have a you have a cigarette after you know stressful day at work or a drink after a stressful day at work like it is Hitchy so.

David Isaacs: so much harder. And then that kind of reinforces the... Oh, I need this to de -stress. Um, Verses. um you know having the having the sleep, having the energy, having the you know cardiovascular fitness to be able to deal with stress so you don't really feel like you need something to supplement.

David Isaacs: uh that relaxation So. um Yeah, I mean, it's kind of the the same thing. um but different when it comes to healthy versus unhealthy because why it's harder to kick an unhealthier habit is because it gets so ingrained. and you know Our brain kind of just craves you know anything that's quick and easy versus...

David Isaacs: you know, actually having to get out of the Neanderthal brain. and you know showing it a better way So. Yeah. at all.

David Isaacs: it all takes time and it's all bs and you got to be patient and yeah it it sucks i i hate I hate how it is. um I hate. how difficult it is for me. I hate how difficult it is for... you know, a myriad of people. because you know it's hard it's harder to start and maintain those good habits.

David Isaacs: versus starting or maintaining a very unhealthy one.

The Big Dog: Yeah. um and there's also Uh... To your point, like I've been. having good eating habits, but Also with.

The Big Dog: Just being more stressed out like I'm still kind of falling back into my old habits of stress eating while Thank you. The calories in these. Excuse me, other bike. way lower so you know, causing me to not hit my caloric, my caloric deficit goal for the day. um And ah you know it's kind of just been like.

The Big Dog: For me, for the last like week and a half. um And, you know, while i'm Not losing two pounds a week, I'm losing it. a one pound a week could it could be worse but um my point is that my base is much higher than what it normally was as far as er i guess my floor is way higher than it what it used to be because i would just like drink I would then like

The Big Dog: eat a whole plate of nachos i would probably go try and go for a second plate of nachos or you know just like clean out my fridge of anything that felt edible. Just because of stress. so um Yeah.

The Big Dog: But I'm still struggling to kind of feel. Um... to try it. Try different things like try different recipes. You know, I find myself for like last month, I have two months just making.

The Big Dog: round about the same thing and again while i'm meeting my goals it's just like i don't feel any satisfaction of making these things like it doesn't feel any different But I've also...

The Big Dog: for the first like maybe four or five months i was trying a different dish every week and i think i've kind of just gotten to the point maybe of you know i know the things that i like i know the things that'll work um i know the combination of Now between snacks.

The Big Dog: breakfast, lunch and dinner and I'll what around about what my caloric intake or uh intake and deficit would would be for the day so I always have that in my back pocket, but I'm just feeling so and uninspired and like.

The Big Dog: You know, they always say that. You don't get as much dopamine if you make your own food as if someone else. ah We're to... make it like it doesn't taste as good um I think. that was actually the opposite case for me of like where i was making something i'm like man it smells really good i'm you know really proud of myself or uh, you know trying different things and you know trying different seasonings and different combinations of food um

The Big Dog: I think I just kind of have lost that recently and things don't taste as good. I'm just like feeling so inspired. So it. it Comes and goes in waves, but... Okay. you know. point is is like you can Yeah.

The Big Dog: As far as cooking, you know it's about the learning. experience. um you know Maybe I've gotten to a point where I feel comfortable and I'm able to do that. So maybe I just need to challenge myself a little bit more.

The Big Dog: um two you know. help mitigate yourself of like you know it's like your your gym plan maybe you have to with everything kind of going on you might have to reduce it a couple of days maybe that's better possibly in the long run of maybe you do start feeling that you know that good feeling of this makes me feel good because I'm working out and doing something positive.

The Big Dog: Maybe it's just... maybe you're experiencing burnout you know like whatever the case is maybe Always trying something different and you know

The Big Dog: expecting a different result, really. You're not... doing the definition of insanity you're You're trying to get back to the way that was make it feel good, but you're trying a different method, so

David Isaacs: Yeah. No, I think you gotta to always switch things up and keep it interesting. Um... And I think. you brought up a good point like maybe starting off small it gives us you know the things to look forward to Um,

David Isaacs: into the future trying out different food. you know different exercises more weight different seasonings different herbs different ways to cook food i mean there's like 50 different ways to cook a steak i mean it's ridiculous um And I think...

David Isaacs: Like even with work Some things like... You know, I'll think like, what am I going to do once this is over? you know for this particular task or something. that saying like you know when this is over when i'm no longer working but um Yeah, there's kind of that thought of, you know, where where do I go next? What do I do next?

David Isaacs: um And I think that is a... you're on a different path and there's different slopes and hills and different foliage. different bridges to get across.

David Isaacs: Like. even on the... you know quote unquote better path like some of those bridges that you have to cross is like where do i go to next when is the a good time to put on more put more weight on the rack.

David Isaacs: or say it's jim wong or you know start making my own pasta for cooking or you know, growing my own herbs. or something.

David Isaacs: You get what I'm saying? like it's

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: regardless of if if it's you know better for you or not. like you You still have to... you know kind of make some of those decisions. um And they're not automatic, they actually...

David Isaacs: you know requires some thinking it's not like going from oh when is a good time to smoke 12 cigarettes in a day instead of 10. Whereas that I think just kind of happens automatically.

The Big Dog: Hmm.

David Isaacs: this is you know kind of something that you have to look at and pay attention to and you know experiment with more. Which just adds to why I hate it so much.

The Big Dog: ah I know. I know. ah doing Doing the hard things is never fun, right? You know, it's like...

The Big Dog: Um, And if, you know. if it was it wouldn't be the hard thing and we'd have you know something else to add to be challenged by so Yeah, I mean... It's...

The Big Dog: Hey. having the right mindset but again that's A whole different beast in and of itself. You know, I know. I know that in... January when I weighed.

The Big Dog: you know, 350 pounds that. It. It was time for a change like I was tom sakura did a joke where he's just like i just want to be I'm not fat enough, so I'm not the fat guy being made fun of. like I want to be able to make fun of the fat person. I...

The Big Dog: I'm not... quite there yeah but i guess the mentality is like All right. I knew that I had to change like, because like. even at my heaviest, I was still.

The Big Dog: Like. That was the heaviest that I've ever been. and Yeah. there are people who have worse medical conditions. Or have medical conditions. you know Mine was just laziness.

The Big Dog: Or. Lack of motivation. um I'm also. plus i can also be as a stubborn son of a bitch like i i just get to a point where i'm like i'm not eating shitty anymore just for the sake of being so i think just being stubborn right it's not even like if you ask me like how can are you able to like just flip it on like that i was like are you on glp1 so i was like No. But...

The Big Dog: um I have kind of the same mindset. that maybe you would have like on a GLP -1 where it... it like suppresses hunger you know there are different studies of It.

The Big Dog: kind of suppress a certain you know there's certain comical and brand new release that's related to like overeating and all of that I just kind of get to a point where like I... i can't eat like this i can't just eat a whole pizza and not expect to like not gain weight Um,

The Big Dog: but i'm also doing the diet of a glp1 like i'm doing clark Deficit. Um, focusing on protein you know like these are all things I never thought about and ah you know still learning more about like what that all actually entails because somebody asked me i'm like yeah i aim to eat 180 grams back what does that mean i don't know it sounded cool

David Isaacs: Yeah.

The Big Dog: Um. but

David Isaacs: Yeah, I mean

David Isaacs: Yeah, for anything healthy like we talked about it's very individualistic And. with the decisions that you have to make that. you know you have to make. to Keep yourself honest.

David Isaacs: um some of the things just you know might come easy to you. Like you said, just being stubborn. and Like... No, I'm not going to. Yeah. I'm not going to eat bad. I'm actually going to cook my food even though I don't. uh i don't enjoy cooking as much as i used to i'm still not gonna you know Ordered it.

David Isaacs: how it works. or whatever else. Or somebody might have a... different issue when it comes to that. Um, It's very individualistic. and Um,

David Isaacs: you know I think. I'm pretty stubborn, but I am quick to you know order food or something like when i do feel inconvenience for the day And I know it.

David Isaacs: you know, cascades down into, you know, the next day leftovers and not eating like food that I've cooked and prepared. But it is a huge issue that I have. um and something that I have to deal with. but It is harder.

David Isaacs: Do that. um and i am stubborn i'm going to try to outrun a bad diet even though people say You can't. i sure as hell want to try because somebody said that I can't.

David Isaacs: so yeah it it is very um so like we harp on. Tons of times it's individualistic. It's hard. It sucks. I know it sucks. I'm sitting here. I'm frustrated even having to think about it.

David Isaacs: um But that's you know the reality of things.

The Big Dog: Same.

David Isaacs: you know the difference being of you know, what does better look like to you? What is. you know. For me, like even starting out. going to the gym. Uh...

David Isaacs: monday wednesday friday i mean that's like probably 25 % better than what I was doing. And that's a good. starting point. but We gotta go. continue on. and To be able to continue on, you have to have that habit.

David Isaacs: Um, it's a healthy habit you got to start out small and you got to plan around it Um, and the road bumps and other bridges and paths you have to cross along the way.

David Isaacs: um End. hopefully you know with starting slow maybe i'll be better prepared to one notice when it's you know, when I have to make a decision about something and two that I'll be in the the right mindset to be able to make that decision.

David Isaacs: And I'll tell you this. Um... Even doing like... what used to be my warm -up weight. for all my exercises, I still got sore.

David Isaacs: so

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: I'm still not going to admit like defeat. that I'm not going to admit that I shouldn't have put on more shouldn't put more weight on the rack. but um Yeah. I... I still got that feeling. Not exactly.

David Isaacs: satisfied because I leave not satisfied and then I'm still sore so I kind of get it both ways but Um, Yeah. It would have been a lot worse if I had tried to go hard.

David Isaacs: So. I'll leave you with that. and Take... Take from that what you will. um End. ah Hopefully it's around. Dave's an idiot and you'd be right.

The Big Dog: Dave's not an idiot. We need to give ourselves some... Self -affirmations. Dave is a nice guy. Dave likes the boogie woogie. Dave likes the... not have his dog shit all over the floor but

David Isaacs: That would be i would I'd much rather be an idiot if it meant my dog no longer shit on the floor

The Big Dog: you know.

The Big Dog: okay

David Isaacs: Um, But no, I...

The Big Dog: bars.

David Isaacs: would For that, it's not. i don't think of it as like self -deprecating like i i joke about it all the time it's like yeah i'm just like an idiot you know. Like not in the sense of like, I'm not.

David Isaacs: a smart person it's just that um there's you know Throughout my life, there's've I've been stubborn. I haven't been able to see what's in front of me. But in doing so. like i you know experiment you know i'm i'm of the the cavemen that discovered fire because i was out you know when it was raining and lightning outside and the others told me not to and All of a sudden a lightning strikes a stick and I got fired.

David Isaacs: you know. So I, you know, I exist in this space where I just, you know, experiment and have to try different things. and I like to joke that it's like I don't know any better.

David Isaacs: Not anything like... dangerous or what have you but

The Big Dog: Right.

David Isaacs: um Yeah. like Oh. Here I am just you know lifting 10 pound weights. and doing my biceps where I could be smart and just... you know.

David Isaacs: Just max weight. Uh -oh. That's a smart thing to do, right? No.

The Big Dog: Yeah. Something like that.

David Isaacs: But all right. um That's pretty much all I had. for the evening. I don't know if you have any. Closing remarks.

The Big Dog: No, that's it. i' Just continuous improvement. um You know, sucks, but. If you want to... God, I'm going to sound like a fucking bodybuilder real short, but if you want to attain your goals, you got to work hard.

David Isaacs: Yeah.

The Big Dog: Yeah, addy e addda something like that, I don't know But, yeah, I mean... Continue. Always. Always. Uh... I don't know. I can't even think it's so late. but um Let's not try and kill ourselves with the pursuit of perfection. It's just like taking the next step Um,

The Big Dog: in your own personal journey. I think that's what this podcast is all about. Um, We all may have determined what our next step should be, but it's just that we've got to put on our shoes. and Take that step.

David Isaacs: Well said.

David Isaacs: Yeah. Pursuit of perfection is... Inachievable. Just get out. and Be an idiot. and try different things.

The Big Dog: Exactly.

David Isaacs: Hopefully you're out there long enough. You'll learn something. At least that's how I like to... jokingly think about it.

David Isaacs: Me caveman, let's wait. Not too much weight though. Uh...

The Big Dog: Starting weight.

David Isaacs: yeah Alright. Oh. If you made it this far, thank you everyone for listening. Truly hope that whoever is listening. he take something away from this. and from our previous discussions and I hope you enjoy the banter.

The Big Dog: yeah Thanks, everybody.
