David Isaacs: Hello everyone, it is October 18th at a time of... recording. I am Dave. That is Brian. We're here to talk to you about some stuff. Maybe some things. Ryan.

David Isaacs: You got any things for us?

The Big Dog: I do have... some people to do and things to see so uh yes something along those lines

David Isaacs: i'm all out of things to see.

The Big Dog: Exactly. You're here to kick ass and chew bubble gum and I'm all out of gum. Anyway. ah Yep, I am a co -host Brian and I don't have any usual funny clips quips this week so uh you know i'm just gonna do my usual david my friend how are you doing tell me tell me your story

David Isaacs: Well... Um... I'm doing this again for the second time because since I managed to kick the butt on my desk and cut the recording. Bye. ah Yeah. Doing well.

David Isaacs: They've accomplished a lot. over the weekend And... I had time off. I took time off Wednesday to Friday. so let's open the Kind of get my...

David Isaacs: feet wet again in the Just kind of getting things done outside of work So I feel... Like I've done that But... exactly what it means. It's like I want to go swimming, but I'm only getting my feet wet, so it's not as satisfying. And I think the...

David Isaacs: change in not trying to take on a lot at once is that they didn't really tell you that i'm gonna feel like i'm Didn't really do anything at the gym.

David Isaacs: Um, Or that I... didn't really accomplish anything and then i have to talk myself out of it and get out of that mindset So. That's a lot of. you know physically moving things but then also like mentally shifting things Um,

David Isaacs: That has been... Quite a challenge. um But I'm here making progress, albeit slow progress, but I think the... Yeah, the change in mindset and...

David Isaacs: you know keeping within myself has been helpful. Um, and i'm still sore from the gym yesterday even though i didn't really do much so maybe it's a The good thing I didn't do.

David Isaacs: Too much. Yeah, that's just kind of where I'm at right now. And as Brian pointed out, one of the projects was to move my desk out of my room.

David Isaacs: So my room was like... Door, bed, desk. And... Not really a lot of space for anything else. Um, I want to do some...

David Isaacs: you know stretching before bed i have a sauna bag I haven't been able to use. Just can't imagine that. Daphne would let me stretch without being in my face.

David Isaacs: or Kind of the same thing. it's only my head coming out of the sauna bag so i don't want to be defenseless.

The Big Dog: There you go.

David Isaacs: It's very... She likes to use her paws. If you're not. doing what she wants you to do she will Put her paws on you. so if the only thing that she can see is my face then I don't think that's ah a recipe for a good time.

David Isaacs: She has pawed at my face before. or you know we'll put her Try to lick my face. uh so Yeah, I just don't want to be defenseless. Um,

David Isaacs: but i think it It'll be helpful in just the feeling. like Not as cluttered. I think. as make me feel better. I'm hoping to turn my room into a... Kind of a...

David Isaacs: environmentally some place that I just go to relax. I'll be that. Some stretching. um being in the sauna bag. or just sleeping.

David Isaacs: Like I kind of want to stick to those three things. Um, as well as you know probably put chargers or something out in the living room. charge my phone, get an alarm clock.

David Isaacs: And really just hone in on like... you know before bed just leaving me access to only be able to you know, like read things.

David Isaacs: instead of... other things that are more stimulating. I've had a TV in there that's been broken for... I don't know, like three years now. Which has been helpful. I don't want to put a TV in there. I don't want to have...

David Isaacs: you know anything else i kind of want to just kind of separate like where i have my desk now in the office so i have my work. set up over here. Um,

David Isaacs: And. I just kind of want this to be the place that like I'm on the computer. I have you two different rooms. Maybe it'll be... a little bit harder considering I'm also going to be working in this room. but There's so much room to...

David Isaacs: To put stuff But I think. I think in the long run it'll be helpful.

The Big Dog: Yeah, it's always so it's good to... separate business from business business from pleasure or you know however you want to look at it um I always had...

The Big Dog: i com i ended up combining my desk just because I don't have that much room as much as i want to admit but I had a separate desk for I don't know where you're...

The Big Dog: Saying is... I like my gaming setup. And then I had my... Uh, work. space and there are two different standing desks but Um... you know they're both both in my basement like i am now but it's uh

The Big Dog: Unfortunately, just I didn't have... ah you know the room that that i wanted to do that but you know it is Uh, I do. typically avoid. you know i'll do a mental reset like Um.

The Big Dog: like obviously eight and or you know 95 8 to 5 or whatever your work hours are that's strictly going to be working from i'm working from home like that's that's all i'm doing and then anytime after that or on my lunch break you know i'll switch switch off screens because it's for me mentally it's just kind of switching Um,

The Big Dog: So that's if I want to play a game or watch a movie or something.

The Big Dog: I was like, I want to. No. be focused on one thing at a time and not get distracted by trying to play a game in the middle of a work day or anything like that but luckily i only work from Home two days a week. So it's you know, not that big a video. But yeah I get what you're saying of wanting to...

The Big Dog: you know, kind of separate, but, you know, only having so much limited space to to be able to to do those. and Um, And yeah, I mean, you know, like what you're talking about with like your. your chores and things that you wanted to get done. you know there's only so much time in the day and you know for my wife and i like we've been struggling with just task paralysis like it's been very bad for us lately and we're finally deciding just like on one day a week where like our son goes to

The Big Dog: you know. grandparents or babysitter's house and we clean the house You know, look that's our sole objective. so we're Kind of getting into that. back into or actually for the first time really in our relationship of just setting aside time to like focus on the test but we also have to give ourselves grace and like you know we both work in our our full -time parents right like i can't do part -time of those

The Big Dog: of those either. either of those is what i'm trying to say so um you know. we we just have to look at how much we've progressed and focus on that. so Um...

The Big Dog: You know, it's. decluttering their your space is decluttering your brain and you know it's it's um A mental. it's a mental health escape it you know makes you feel accomplished makes you feel good um Even if it's, you know. Maybe something trivial is.

The Big Dog: folding your clothes that have been on the floor or your you know your laundry chair for A couple of days or a couple weeks. maybe a couple of years if they're in a case of sometimes.

The Big Dog: Uh, you know. Uh, Me, where I head. same set of clothes on the chair that i don't think i probably hadn't touched in like well over a year and a half but You know, I rearranged my living space.

The Big Dog: um even if it didn't match what my wife had or wanted but it made me feel Feel better. make me feel like I could so you know succeed in in the short term and and you know something i could Um...

The Big Dog: kind of call it my own space so um even if it's a gaming so set a basement you know a room uh something you should make it yours and that should be your place to kind of be An escape, you know, even if it's.

The Big Dog: for a few minutes or a few hours after work or putting your kid to bed and after a long day whatever um i think we all need to kind of have that like Uh...

The Big Dog: we'll call it zone, you know. um Barrier where. Nothing

The Big Dog: nothing transfers right like you know you don't work doesn't interfere with your playtime playtime it doesn't interfere with your work like those should be separate and i think it's a good Um, Good mindset to kind of have.

The Big Dog: And we've talked about this before, just, you know. putting your focus sole focus on whatever is in front of you and then When you're done with that, you move on to the next thing. so And it kind of follows those guidelines that we've been. Ta -ra.

The Big Dog: preaching at for a while now.

David Isaacs: Yeah. I mean, I'm ah i'm escaping right now because the nephews are over. so

The Big Dog: Yeah. There you go.

David Isaacs: that one the babysit Um, Yeah, I think the a lot of stuff that affects us and adds up over time and Yeah, the ah I should call it like task paralysis is, you know.

David Isaacs: Pretty big on my end too. because I'm cleaning up. cans of empty No. like sugar -free sodas. that are stacked up on my nightstand or stacked up on my desk.

David Isaacs: Ideally I would have it in me to... you know when it's finished just take it to the trash can And then I wouldn't have that problem. or trying to move things and it's you know pretty dusty on a lot of different surfaces in the room.

David Isaacs: you know If I had a habit of... Doing that, you know once a week or what have you then I wouldn't have to to deal with that. Um, And yeah, my clothes have been in the basement for. I don't i can't even tell you how long they go from the washing machine to the dryer to top of the pool table and maybe I'll fold them but never like really bring them up.

David Isaacs: And then it causes issues too, because I... I'll typically reuse a towel. couple of times. Well... more more than that, if I'm being honest. but

The Big Dog: yeah Yeah, it does.

David Isaacs: Uh,

The Big Dog: so

David Isaacs: i Yeah. So anytime I. Take a shower in the morning. go downstairs, you know drop the towel. Get dressed. So every day I'm using a towel.

David Isaacs: So I think it's not only... you know taking small steps to accomplish what you want but then also in the days where I'm doing a lot more than I plan to do. It's because of, you know... the the small things that add up across the a lot of different areas.

David Isaacs: Um, So yeah, that's my my hope. Um, to not only identify you know what would be a good step to take care of today and only do that.

David Isaacs: Um, Or maybe it's two to three things. and small steps between those two to three things. Um, and just kind of... continue on with that.

David Isaacs: Um, You know, I was. talked to my therapist earlier this week and i called it raising the floor You know, if I fall back somewhere. I just want the floor to be raised enough that it's not like... straight back to zero.

David Isaacs: Where? you know more clutter accumulates in the room Laundry stays downstairs. Um, Yeah. not doing well with my sleep not doing well with my exercise you know not going back to the place that I was for a long time.

David Isaacs: because that is... Yeah, it's not a good place to be. and I feel like every day you're... Moving in the wrong direction and digging yourself into a deeper hole So when you do that, it takes a lot of effort to...

David Isaacs: you know gain that ground back Not only in that sense, but Also staying in that. Please. Um, for when things happen. for when I'm more stressed out or sick or.

David Isaacs: whatever else. Um, so Yeah, I totally get it. It's just... just some of those things and Unfortunately, the solution is to not.

David Isaacs: try to take on too much at once or if you do When I have a small. um small change it doesn't have to be like a solution it could be you know, part of the problems that led to Uh,

David Isaacs: Yeah. clutter piling up or laundry not getting upstairs or What i have you. Um, So yeah, I think it is. the other part of it just like sitting there and thinking all right The same thing with projects at work, and I know we've talked about this a ton, but how can I take this from the... you know highest level and break it down.

David Isaacs: And sometimes at work, you know it has to be done that day. But. at the same time. and It's worth your while to... you know break things down and steps.

David Isaacs: And. Take it from that. uh position Whereas everything else is more abstract, but it really comes into play as far as like how much time that you have.

David Isaacs: how much energy that you have for that day. And maybe sometimes it's. I don't really have a lot of energy but I know I would feel better if I did. you know something to this extent

David Isaacs: instead of you know what you're planning on doing that day. But. as much as solutions are very individual individualistic as to What works for you? I think it is every day Um, is a little bit different too.

David Isaacs: So you can't just say, oh. You know, I planned on doing this, this, and this today. I only got this done. It has to be, well... I had a I'm not feeling well. I didn't sleep the greatest.

David Isaacs: Like even though I accomplished this, I feel. like to accomplish because. A few months ago. I would have just done nothing. Didn't feel good about it. and then the next day also done nothing.

David Isaacs: Whereas now it's... you know kind of setting me up for success going forward

The Big Dog: Yeah. um Touch on. guess it's been on a be lately I Okay. unintentionally taken on too much. um Like.

The Big Dog: between You know, I guess I've been lucky because... Last few months have been pretty stressful, but I haven't really had to deal much outside. like you know, on the the civilian side or or my civilian life, we'll call it.

The Big Dog: Haven't had much, but... Now that my son's in school, um you know. things he's kind of comfortable there like we had a we've had like a month or so of just you know kind of coasting um Well, you know My...

The Big Dog: portraits just had kind of issues and like we thought it was crumbling then we thought it was a foundational issue but my uncle came over and you know he's just like this really just needs to have an overlay over it and then you know you're fine so um

The Big Dog: He... He came over and And... patched everything you know, put a new, like. overlay or um like hovering over it like had it set for four or five days while that's going on i'm also um I had to just take out some equity out of my house to just pay off some credit card debt And like we hit a snag with that in terms of title. Um,

The Big Dog: Won't go into much detail on that, but I kind of have to jump through hoops to get the loan closed this week. So that's kind of added to that. on top of my vice president joined a call and basically gave this company of the search engine i was telling you about um That's been delayed. He gave them two weeks to kind of. figure everything out and get it solved to close or to to the finish line.

The Big Dog: as not to delay our site launch. Or are we getting our money back and we're you know not accepting this? this product so Um, if You know.

The Big Dog: To dwell on that I felt as if i was like failing in project management but it was just really this company that we were working for sucks but you know kind of being in the moment you feel Yeah. you know like uh yeah rimsy bolton and you're you know you're kind of at the end great joy right like i feel like my name is reek like i just felt like kind of a emasculated or just you know like i i just didn't feel good about the whole the whole thing but he's like dude it's fine like don't worry about it um so it's kind of stressed out about that and

The Big Dog: Uh,

The Big Dog: And when we're trying to like relax on a weekend or just like trying to take one thing at a time and looking forward to something like I had a massage yesterday I was supposed to have literally as I'm pulling into the parking lot, it was canceled because my massage therapist called in.

The Big Dog: I may have overreacted a bit. I didn't yell at this girl, but I was like, are you serious? Like, I'm here. This is my fourth cancellation this year. And then, like, I'm just like, you know, cancel my membership. Like, I can't do this anymore. Not for $80 a month that I'm paying for it. There's no even though guarantee that I'm, you know.

The Big Dog: Peace. didn't even have a service or like i'm gonna have to like reschedule for something i'm looking forward to And then following that off, I... Almost T -boned a track that pulled out a cube.

The Big Dog: like semi truck that pulled out in front of me And then somebody pulled. not even five minutes later not even a mile down the road somebody pulled out in front of me because they didn't want to wait for a bus that had stopped so at that point i had it and i got i had to swerve into the the middle lane to avoid hitting them All the while I'm laying on my horn, just staring at them.

The Big Dog: Like it's like a fucking road rage. Like. scene out of a movie like It was just like an out -of -body experience. and like Yeah. maybe even a moment of weakness like nothing happened like i wasn't gonna like stop and like get make this person get out of their car or anything i was just i just had had it and like i just had a breaking point And like. My son was in the car and like.

The Big Dog: god forbid anything happened to us and that and like you know like my mind just kind of flew all over the place but like you know. We practice all of... of these. techniques and to better ourselves and as you say raising the floor um Could I have handled all of these situations better?

The Big Dog: Yeah, absolutely. but I think the old me. Would have. probably screamed at this person on the phone probably would have like you know follow this person who caught me off and like I wouldn't have threaten but I definitely would have liked Just like.

The Big Dog: Made this person feel uncomfortable, but that's not who I am anymore. I'm 37 years old. I have a kid I'm not gonna send an example of being an a -hole or a terrible human being so i handle i still probably handle something in situations poor but it's better than i would have done Six months, a year ago, 10 years ago, you know, so.

The Big Dog: Raising the floor may be different for all of us, but I think.

The Big Dog: Um... no situation is ever going to be perfect but we have to make the the best of what we have Um, And. I guess maybe. Those probably still aren't even the best choices, but they were the best of what I got. I'm not I'm not dead. I'm not in jail. My son is totally fine Like.

The Big Dog: I'm fine. 48 air. 24 hours later now, but you know, still dwelling on those moments of things that I could do better. And I think if you have also have that little bit of self -reflection or.

The Big Dog: self -awareness um you know Yeah, maybe it makes if some of the situation still worse in hindsight, but yeah at least now what to do better and you know maybe what not to do next time so

David Isaacs: Yeah. Yeah, sorry that. Happen to you. It always seems like the... Worst drivers. you know kind of pop out of nowhere. when You're not in a great mood. at least it Feels like it to me sometimes, but...

The Big Dog: Yeah, 100%.

David Isaacs: um Yeah. i mean if you're having a good day and someone cut you off like Would you have reacted that way? Probably not.

David Isaacs: or He wouldn't have. Probably would have not reacted. Uh... that negatively. I guess right.

The Big Dog: Yeah, 100%.

David Isaacs: So. and Yeah, someone canceling. you know you're appointment. as you're pulling in like that is. Bullshit um And if they don't have somebody else there, that's...

David Isaacs: available. to kind of like cover I don't know. but Yeah, we know the... person on the phone isn't responsible for That other person.

David Isaacs: Unfortunately, they are the kind of first line because they're not gonna put the person that's cancelled on the phone

The Big Dog: Yeah, they're not going to put the person who you know called in sick and You know, it's like. she's like oh i can give you like a half an hour credit for free it's like that's not the point it's not the point like you don't care about Ah.

The Big Dog: It was... it would at You know. Surviving four or five price increases for something.

The Big Dog: For the same service at some point you just kind of have to go this isn't worth it like this isn't a certain worth spending $80 a month for the same thing that you're paying for in 2019. Like... you know, we could say, make this argument about.

The Big Dog: Um... streaming services you know it's like disney plus in 2019 when it launched was seven dollars a month I think you could get the whole year for like. 70 bucks or something and now it's $22 or...

The Big Dog: or close to it per month. Um... But my my point isn't about consumer products. It's, ah you know. it's just about when and sometimes you just reach a breaking point And... um you know, self -sabotage situations like that. and it's doing better um than what you had previously done.

The Big Dog: uh maybe you know you may look like a weirdo to the person in the car next to you, you know, or That lady is probably like why is this guy so angry? um You know, unfortunately, sometimes we all have. a We all have that bad day. uh bad week and We try to mitigate it as best we can.

The Big Dog: and frustration we'll still bubble to the top and But...

The Big Dog: It is what it is, and you know I make no... Uh... I'm not happy about anything that happened or anything that I've. done but you know um I just need to get a document down to The registry of deeds, like on a Tuesday, and I close and I get a bunch of money and pay off debt and I feel less stressed out and.

The Big Dog: You know? um, So focus on that. And. one step at a time like you were saying earlier and breaking it down so I can't control what other people are going to do or how shitty of a drive, no matter how shitty of a driver they are. But, you know. i can control that i shouldn't act like a raging lunatic sometimes but Um...

The Big Dog: Okay. you know. but ah It's... It all gets better. We all go through waves. And...

The Big Dog: you know i feel better today i took a nap i was late to this podcast I hope David doesn't hold it against me in the future. but um Yeah, I feel better.

The Big Dog: 24 hours and I did. you know or i feel better now than i did yesterday so 24 hours later it's it's already looking up It already is. almost the end of the weekend, but. you know Hey.

The Big Dog: Shit happens.

David Isaacs: Yeah. and i'm so against like flock cameras or just surveillance in general but i feel like If I was to do like a...

David Isaacs: company like that it would really just be like dash cams. Or it'd be cameras to like. See? Yeah. Like you cut somebody off, that's a strike.

David Isaacs: Come to a complete stop at a roundabout. That's a strike. Um, you know you do some other you Come. you're like about to miss a turn so you slam on the brakes and then put your blinker on like that's another strike three strikes like you're out you get your license taken away I feel like society would benefit.

David Isaacs: from you know that sort of surveillance Whereas... We know there's... shitty drivers out there. that Get away. get away with this stuff.

David Isaacs: or have caused accidents before. Or... something. And maybe they have gotten ticketed. Maybe their insurance rates are very high and they're still driving and still haven't figured it out. But I feel like.

David Isaacs: you know driving in general with ah Yeah, there's you take a driver's test one time and that's it There's no um there's no scenario there's nothing it's like all right and they just ah expect you to become a better driver Um,

David Isaacs: But that as we know that's not always the case But... and not saying I would ever do it. However, If the opportunity was there, that's what I would. be doing. It would be nothing about.

David Isaacs: It would only simply be like actions caught for like bad driving. End. things like that caught. So that. some punishment is had.

David Isaacs: for doing something like that. I'll be. Totally impossible to actually... you know create and have happened, but... If.

David Isaacs: There. One in a... Trillion chance that something like that fell into my lap that that is the direction I would go with it because there is nothing more.

David Isaacs: There's nothing worse. then people with no sense of urgency. like people driving Um, I've had it going to work like always. And I don't have...

David Isaacs: I hope. I don't drive like an asshole. You know, but it's like. you know i drive the speed limit i drive on like a you know 55 mile an hour to like Tulane.

David Isaacs: Um, like I don't know what they... and what you call it like a it's michigan avenue so i don't know if it's like a freeway expressway like you know there's still lights on it Um,

The Big Dog: It's... I think that's an exp - There is a difference.

David Isaacs: but

The Big Dog: I believe Freeway, I think that's...

David Isaacs: so i thought freeway and highway are the same thing but expressway is

The Big Dog: I think.

The Big Dog: Yeah, it's

David Isaacs: Like what?

The Big Dog: it's there there is a difference i don't remember which term is applicable but yeah there i mean yeah you're There is something to it.

David Isaacs: Yeah. Um, But I can't stand it. People are in the left lane going 45 miles an hour.

The Big Dog: Yeah. Yeah. yeah

David Isaacs: And it's a 55 mile an hour road. I've had people... you know There's two roundabouts on that road. Same thing. People come to a complete stop. No one's coming from the left way.

David Isaacs: Um... I've had someone just like put and a lot of times too because I get on like a different road That's 50 miles an hour and it's only one lane.

David Isaacs: Um, you know people cutting me off People only going 40 miles an hour You know, there's a ton of stuff End.

David Isaacs: I try not to let it bother me because I don't want to like come into. All right. That's not the right term. I try to process it before I get into work. because I don't want to go into work with like... you know that me being pissed off or anything.

David Isaacs: um but Yeah, there's just way too much. That goes on. it just people that either have no sense of urgency which is not you know.

David Isaacs: Not. helpful to society. that. other people have places to be it doesn't matter if you can get there at any time that you want. because you're slowing everyone else down.

David Isaacs: as well as cutting people off, putting people in danger. not understanding Um, you know what you're supposed to do. at a roundabout.

David Isaacs: which honestly the roundabout is like my favorite invention ever but the people that use it is uh that' That's the issue. That's the bottleneck. Um,

David Isaacs: But yeah, it's just. To be inconvenienced, to be aggravated. And I try to say, you know, I don't have any control over it. Like people are going to be. doing these things like however many millions of people have a license or have an automobile.

David Isaacs: the world. um Like. you know statistically Speaking half of them have to be bad. Wait.

The Big Dog: Yeah. yeah

David Isaacs: If you. Thank you. put a line in the sand, you know. 50 -50 So... Um, Yeah, it's hard -pressed because I probably... Maybe like even think about like on your commute like how many cars you actually see here Um,

David Isaacs: you know, cars around you at one time. I mean, I'd probably pass.

David Isaacs: Hundreds of cars. it's always the worst you get caught behind someone that's going slow and If they were going to speed limit and I would have caught this light And then that person turns right. And then someone that's turning left onto the road is another slow driver. So it just kind of stacks on top of each other. like And maybe I just don't notice it because...

David Isaacs: you know i'm so hyper focused probably similar to you like if someone cut you off or you know, if you're having a bad day. and it you know kind of stacks up it's because you're I feel like it's because I pay more attention to. other people that are inconveniencing me.

David Isaacs: And it just kind of continues to bubble up.

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: um But. there are It... it seems to have a pattern. Like if I'm not able to go. the speed that I want to be able to catch the light that I want then it's going to affect me negatively because there is Hey. or that person in the left -hand turn light.

David Isaacs: like turns on a red. after like two cars have already went. and then that person was like so eager and so willing needing to get to turn left there.

David Isaacs: that they're turning when my light's green. Yet they go. Five to ten miles under the s speed limit like it doesn't make sense that it It's like, dog. the character build that they have.

David Isaacs: The attributes that they chose.

The Big Dog: Heh.

David Isaacs: are just is not helpful. to the story they're trying to play. Basically.

The Big Dog: Yeah, I like that

David Isaacs: You can't be in a rush one second and then have no sense of urgency the next.

The Big Dog: Right.

David Isaacs: unless they're just trying to piss people off by turning left when the other light screen. And then. Just not. going fast. And it's always the same people. It's always the same person that will turn left.

David Isaacs: When? you know the perpendicular lights are green and then not go fast Not even not go fast, not go the the speed you were supposed to go.

David Isaacs: It's ridiculous.

The Big Dog: Yeah. ah The perpetrators are, for me, are service. uh, Service people like. it trades people because it's always uh some sort of cube van or, you know.

The Big Dog: uh gmc express or what' what's whatever the chevy chevy savannah It's always one of those. you know. get in the fast lane and do exactly 10 under, not 10 over, 10 under.

The Big Dog: uh when Even the slow lane is passing them. uh because i'm You know. the highway that i go is heavily under construction right now they're you know planning on opening it up right now. or pretty soon but uh you know.

The Big Dog: So there's something in the service truck or it's just an old man with a. But. a pickup truck and a cab. Never fails. They'll speed up to get around me and then they slow down.

The Big Dog: i don't get it i don't get why that's a stereotype with Old men driving trucks. I don't get it, but you know. Trying to avoid stereotypes here. um

The Big Dog: and you know projecting my anger but ah To your point, maybe going back to the the cameras, it remind reminds me of the joke that Mitch Hedberg used to say. He's like, I think people should get two beeps a month, and then they that's it. It's cut off. He's like, oh, I wish I could honk at that person who cut me off in traffic, but maybe I should have caught honked at little Jimmy on the sidewalk after school.

The Big Dog: Um, I think there should be limits. I think we should be retested on our driving skills every year. But ah Michigan doesn't have the infrastructure for that because they can barely handle, you know, once a year tab or or license renewal, it seems like. I know things have gotten better and, you know, their electronic would still have the fact that we still have to do.

The Big Dog: an appointment and nothing's like automated in this It just kind of goes to show you that government policy is always going to be a decade behind things that are happening now. um you know now this is just brian venting about Everything that. inconveniences him and maybe take into a level well this is my anger thought process and this is what i need to avoid you know like you said people i was i'm hyper focused on the people who inconvenience me or things that you can see more than actually maybe it should be so um

David Isaacs: Well, I didn't mean... Always. I'm just thinking. you know in terms of me It's always, like, great. like you know why does all these things always happen at once whereas like it's probably you know something uh,

David Isaacs: something so far off the So far. in in the negative spectrum. That starts it and then everything else is just like average negative things that happen that I deal with all the time

The Big Dog: Uh, yeah. oh yeah that's yeah that's fair that's just kind of how like my my week is gone it was just like it yeah i got kicked off by me feeling like i was like gonna lose my job for like because i was being a shitty project manager um even though it's just people not wanting to cooperate.

The Big Dog: And. I was entertained in that same meeting how everyone was turning on. the other project manager it was just hilarious so like none of these processes make any sense it's like we should have had this discussion two months ago when i kept saying things but no one seem to have want to listen but again this is kind of just me venting and you know, expression.

The Big Dog: My emotions all at once. um

David Isaacs: Yeah, sometimes i I feel like I'm yelling in a dream. or that I'm... you know, screaming underwater.

The Big Dog: Yeah.

David Isaacs: It's late. I said this. I brought this up. Did anyone write it down? Did anyone care? No.

The Big Dog: yeah i was like i was like yeah hey when we finish these or clear these tickets um we can move out of UAT. oh okay great and then two months later these tickets are still open and we're still in uat even though we uat is supposed to be two weeks not two and a half months but Again, this is, ah you know.

The Big Dog: part of Why i am I so mad? at this company. uh yeah and and so like every other little thing is uh you know,

The Big Dog: maybe i shouldn't have canceled my membership but you know thinking about it it's like this shit gets canceled all the time in fact there's Well, excuse me, I've been going to this place for nine years I've never had a point where I've had to reschedule something.

The Big Dog: four times. like is ah Is it? It's a... groundbreaking like is it gonna is it world changing no but like when you're paying for a service i have some expectation you pull in you're literally staring at the door when you pull into a spot and they're like oh yeah we can't do this like you know you just kind of have to sometimes you just have to like for me at least like sometimes you there are just some things you have to start over do a complete reset on Um, you know,

The Big Dog: My therapist always says that I'm always looking for that. and I think to her point, a lot of times it's true, but like. I also realize that like you're not always going to get that. You're always goingnna get like you're not be to...

The Big Dog: flick, you know. finger flick and flick and stamp your fingers and you know your house is clean and then ah now you can maintain it um you're not going to be able to like snap your fingers and traffic's clear right like we're not cue from star trek we're not of god we're not all of this and that Or...

The Big Dog: But in cases like that where you do have control over and you just can just Rinse your hands to be done with it. I think it's just time to save your way because it's it's not worth it Um... And.

The Big Dog: Being angry and enraged is Not great, not worth it. end of the day but Sometimes they are. expressed you're not going to get that mental reset you're not going to be able to get that person to move out of your way or not done the things that done to inconvenience you but You know.

The Big Dog: It's... ah one step at a time. and just controlling your controllables.

David Isaacs: Yeah, and you bring up a good point too. I mean even if you have a tendency to do Something. Like I said, look for a total reset. It doesn't mean that... every single situation you're looking to do that.

David Isaacs: So I think it's good to recognize when. If you actually have the time to think about. and analyze. or... you know if it's the straw that broke the camel's back over anything And it's time to just kind of reset.

David Isaacs: It's not like... You look at it like, oh, I always have a tendency to do this. I don't want to have to do that. But maybe sometimes you're. Since you're trying to work on that im maybe holding on to it longer than you should have.

David Isaacs: like you said i mean this was the fourth time Like. Maybe it would have been better after the second time. you know. Who knows? but also other cases where

The Big Dog: Right.

David Isaacs: Maybe something negative happened. twice. um and then after that it's been you know. Good. But no, I think I think you made the right call with that Especially considering the...

David Isaacs: the lack of time that they had. to give you that notice. which could have been on the person that called and canceled. It could have been. You know, they were late to.

David Isaacs: Call and cancel with you. Um, a myriad of factors but Considering it had been the fourth time then I guess the timing really doesn't matter at that point.

David Isaacs: Um, And yeah, mentally, if you're looking forward to something and you put in the effort to actually go and you're... you know planning on Trying to get that de -stress and all that so it kind of hits you twice one that someone cancelled right as you are pulling up into that you're now not getting what you wanted to. to be able to destress.

David Isaacs: um So it kind of heightens that as well. Or it's a little bit different if somebody cancels something that you didn't want to do. but I think. going and getting a massage just probably up there and they like the top five things people would look forward to doing.

The Big Dog: Yeah, I think i think that's true. I was upset. I was like, you know, I've had a stressful week. I've had... Um... You know, and it's like I've... i haven't been able to sleep well just because like my muscles are tense and uh just affecting recovery from workout and you know just affecting recovery from just stress in general, right? So... you know. get to go listen to

The Big Dog: Whatever hokey music that they they play in them the background and You know what? I just want to be touched by a man, you know? I just want him to just like bury my face in a pillow and make me feel good.

The Big Dog: All of that is probably euphemisms, and I phrased it that way on purpose. but yeah you know what god damn i wanted to feel good and i didn't so I think Um, I already have one booked at another place. like in a couple of days so It's truly not the end of the world. but yeah i mean it's just Cut your losses and and and move on. so Um... I think that's probably my lesson for this episode is just knowing when to.

The Big Dog: maybe quit and uh also just wreck have some self -awareness of What is this? Situation.

The Big Dog: Or... What am I doing in this situation to... Or what can I control in this situation? You know, it's... um

The Big Dog: it's It's tough to always have that sort of... presence um at least for me you know some we're trying to work on consistency of like my mindset and you know doesn't always work out like that but um strive to be better smart achieve of goals and One of them is just to be.

The Big Dog: overall consistent. so Something to strive for.

David Isaacs: Okay. um I didn't have anything. else. that you want to... Have any closing remarks?

The Big Dog: No, I think that's good. i think i ah Think I got it all out.

David Isaacs: Okay. Well, this was an eventful week. Thanks for hopping on Brian. Thanks everyone for listening and we will see you next time.

The Big Dog: Yeah, bye, everybody.
