Welcome to our first episode on the bean talk by among bean health with Jeremy and Rhiannon and our beautiful baby Rome. Look, this episode's just going to be a little sort of get to know us. So we're going to just tell you a little bit more about us and what we're going to talk about in some of the other episodes, but it'll be a welcome into the chaos because we've obviously got baby Rome here, which I'm sure you'll hear at some point. We also have our other two babies that are napping, which could wake up at any moment. Fingers crossed they don't. I know, ah welcome to the chaos, but this is honestly us. I thought we would just talk a little bit more about us.

Rhiannon and Jeremy's Personal Journey

00:00:53
Speaker
So essentially the most important thing is that we're parents to four beautiful babies, one being a beautiful little angel girl Winnie, who we unfortunately lost last year, but we will talk more about her in another episode.
00:01:07
Speaker
we have been planning on doing this beautiful podcast for some time now but I think it's been a lot with having mung bean and also pregnancy after loss is a lot as many of you would know if you're following along on our Instagram I have so many beautiful women that have been through very similar it's a lot not only for You know, the woman going through it, but also for hubbies and other children going through it, which will definitely touch more on. But yeah, it's nice to have little Rome here, the earth side for our first episode so he can cry the entire way through, which is great.
00:01:44
Speaker
So yeah, mung bean, welcome.

Rhiannon's Health Industry Insights

00:01:46
Speaker
I've worked in the health industry my entire working life which would be you know 16-ish years now, maybe a little bit longer. After school I started working in a health food store where I would see how amazing it was that natural medicine actually works so, so well and people don't get side effects from it. I don't know about you guys, Jeremy, but. ah was pretty healthy health conscious Yeah, your mom would go for natural stuff, but my family. Look, just like a normal family where they would just have a problem, go to the doctor and get that medication and go that way rather than it being like, Oh, let's try this herb. I never knew about like herbal tinctures and things until I was in the health food store.
00:02:29
Speaker
But yeah, I remember you telling me about your mom making you like drink wormwood tea. Yeah, parasites. Yeah. And how gross that is. She gets off like the side of the road and go out and make us this horrible tea. So good though. And yeah, something you can be thankful for later on rather than having tea, you know. take medications and things, which have a whole host of other side effects and issues later on. Anyway, sometimes we need them. Modern medicine is amazing when we need it. So if you're in a car accident, do not call us because we can't help you. Call the trauma team. They will help you, but we can help with your healing afterwards. Modern medicine is absolutely amazing, but not as a preventative. We we don't need to usually use it. That's sort of how I started. And then I progressed into doing a naturopathy course.
00:03:12
Speaker
And we'd travel down to Sydney for that into the city.

Professional Growth in Naturopathy

00:03:17
Speaker
And then I ended up getting a, I managed health food stores down in the city in Sydney and Hornsby ended up getting a job at a massive thyroid clinic, Australia's largest, which was amazing. Learned so much about the thyroid. Thyroid is super important in pregnancy and preconception and honestly, just feeling good for men and women, but ah especially women in that child-bearing sort of time. I started training other naturopaths and then I ended up starting mung bean after that and that has progressed beautifully. We have six, including myself, beautiful naturopaths that work with us and honestly they're all amazing. They
00:03:53
Speaker
I've trained them all in my protocol so they'll treat you the same way that I would because obviously you know it's very hard when people want to see me but I don't have any room in my schedule and haven't taken on new clients for a while just due to time but trained up my beautiful naturopath and they all come with their own amazing Wealth of Knowledge. Absolutely amazing. So we're so thankful and we've got a great group at the moment. And we have our beautiful warehouse, which over to you, Germ, tell us more.

Jeremy's Role in Business Operations

00:04:20
Speaker
Well, I'm the operations manager and we've got Arabella and my younger sister, Georgia, that all work in there to get all your orders out. Absolutely. It's a, yeah, they're a little powerhouse team in there. When I've got time, I go in from time, lol.
00:04:35
Speaker
It's a little bit hard at the moment, obviously, with baby Rome, but usually I like to go on and help Jeremy when I can. But he honestly has it all under control, which is great. That's where we blend up all of your personalized compounds, nutrients and herbal medicine. um Individualized medicine is a big one for me, something that's super important and a way that we can get you the best results. So love that. It does take extra time to make lots of things more personalized, but it is so worth it. So essentially other jobs that you do for Mung Bean, let us tell us. Well, um yeah, I order all the stock and organize that. and
00:05:13
Speaker
Make sure everything's flowing properly and we have all the stuff we need to get it all out. Yeah, absolutely. It's a full time job in itself. There was one time when I was doing, obviously we weren't as big as we are now, but I was doing all of it on my own, which. Tell them a bit more about how, when we started, how hard

Balancing Business and Family Life

00:05:30
Speaker
that was. Yeah. Well, um, yeah, I was, I had my own painting business at the time and Rhiannon decided to go out on her own. And yeah, she'd be like, you need to be home at two o'clock. So I'd get home early, take care of Evie. She would consult from two to eight and then pack orders from eight to 12 a.m. For 10 months. That was a lot. And then we had even, I remember we'd put her in that little like rocker and we'd give her a little bottle.
00:05:54
Speaker
and her favorite little shirt, which is like Jeremy's old shirt, which is now like a rag. She still is obsessed with it and loves it. And we'd sit her in a little rocker and we would just like smash out the orders, pack them all, get them ready to go to the post office the next day. And because we had so many orders to send send and we weren't getting them picked up at that point, we would, like if I would try and take it down, but I'd have to like get out of the car and oppos i was strap Evie to my chest and then try and carry all of the orders in and they were in like massive bags. Oh, sorry. Golden Retrievers also here, noisy. We, yeah, all I'd have the massive, massive bags down there and I'd try and like carry them into the post office. And I remember they'd get so annoyed. so as ally Yes, something about post offices, then never that happy, you know, it's unfortunate, but they'd get so annoyed that we'd have so many, we were happy. We'd like be trotting in there, like so excited. Like, look how many orders we've got to send out.
00:06:51
Speaker
to our beautiful clients but they were not happy so it got too much for me to carry so then I'd have to ask Jeremy hey babe like you need to come home earlier because you've got to take the orders down now we're getting picked up yeah picked up which is much better for us yeah everybody else I know everyone's happier about that but Yeah, gosh, it's funny looking back, isn't it? How far we've come, thankfully. Some topics, that's like, yeah, a bit about us, but some topics that i that we will be sort of

Future Topics and Themes

00:07:18
Speaker
chatting about in episodes. And we'll also touch in with you guys and see if there's some topics you'd like to hear about, but some that I thought and add in any extras if you think, but definitely we'll be talking a lot about pregnancy, you know, nutrients to take in pregnancy, complications in pregnancy.
00:07:33
Speaker
a lot about that. Pregnancy after loss, which is a lot. It's a big one, so we'll definitely unpack that at some point. how men can prepare for preconception, as well as women, great supplements to take for certain conditions, what we give to our kids, so supplement-wise. We have like a nice little base to support them. When you're starting a family, like the best ways to start, I'd like to talk through my birth stories, because I know that's something that a lot of you would like to hear. I haven't really talked about Winnie's birth story, that'll be an emotional one, but I know lots of you want me to share that, so that'll definitely be something to share.
00:08:09
Speaker
being working parents, which is a big one. We obviously work a lot, but we also, you know, try and be as present as we can for our little ones. But we do have a nice village or network that support us, which we will chat about. Relationships after loss, because that obviously is a full on one as well. And ways to support yourself, like postpartum. Also ways the hubby can support his woman or partner postpartum. and also like breastfeeding support. There is a lot of different topics we can talk about. I'm sure lots will come up along the way. absolutely Yeah, Yep. Um, Tati's just woken up. I know. Tati's just woken up. So that's our cue to end this. So you don't have to hear him waking up and screaming, but we're so excited. Super excited to get started with you guys and talk through it all. We'll touch base and see if you guys want us to chat about anything in particular. Anyway, bye for now. See you later.
