Hi, welcome back to The Bean Talk. With Jeremy

Morning Routines and Kids' Anecdotes

00:00:26
Speaker
and Rhiannon. We thought that today we would do a little bit of an insight into our lives and what that looks like. Bit of a day in the life, if you will. Most mornings we get up like everyone else. Seriously, but we're usually woken up by little people. Yeah. Especially Jeremy, he gets up and he will be, the kids will demand like a bottle. Yeah, throughout the night.
00:00:49
Speaker
throughout the night and we've got our little bean, big bean. We'll do that at the end. We'll do that at the end, yeah. You'll have to wait today. Yeah, someone will be demanding a bottle like, I want milk. Yeah, they're very kind to us. Yep. I want milk. And Tati is so cute.
00:01:10
Speaker
All right, Faruka, I'll get you a bottle of milk. Is it Faruka? Yeah, Faruka, yeah. He's so cute. So when he has his bottle, he wants to hold your hand. That's his thing. He's like, he wants to hold your hand. But it can be really hard because if you're trying to still sleep and you're reaching over, hold his hand. It'll be like... It's cute, but it's uncomfortable. It is so cute, but it's uncomfortable. But anyway, it won't be for a while. One day we'll miss that. And then Evie has her blue shirt, which is this manky old shirt.
00:01:39
Speaker
that was Jeremy's when he was like 16 and he kept it and wore it so when we first got together Jeremy was 16. So it's not that weird for us to keep that but he was wearing it and then I would wear it when he got over wearing it in the day I'd wear it to bed because it's made of this beautiful soft material and then Evie when she was probably a toddler one or something maybe? Between

Matcha Routine and Flexible Bedtimes

00:02:03
Speaker
six months yeah in some way the one. She started to touch the the back of your arm and she'd pull down this do you remember that? Yeah and she'd pull down there and then it would be her feet she would get her feet in there and she'd end up with like her feet all the way down your shirt and it would be like stretching your shirt and you'd be trying to do something and it was so annoying again very cute but also really annoying when you touched out
00:02:30
Speaker
And then Jeremy ended up somehow, she ended up getting a shirt. She loved the material. Inherited the shirt. Inherited the shirt. And so that's like her little blankie, if you will. And she loves it. Still to this day, blue shirt. She calls it blue shirt. And sometimes she calls it blue she.
00:02:52
Speaker
Blooshy. It's so funny. And it's so naked now and torn up and holds and then it's so fit. It's got like little rat like bits off it. like No one's chucking it away. She's left it in a couple of places and no one's chucking it away. They're just like, they should be. But they're like, what is this? This is obviously special. No one's carrying this thing around. It must be like kids one. She dropped it once at the shopping center and I had i went back. Jeremy had an off.
00:03:18
Speaker
And I was like, I'll go back and I found it on the ground. And then what, she left it at a restaurant, I was like, a restaurant. And they were like, I think I called up, I was like, hey, my daughter left a little rag there. And they were like, yeah, we didn't chuck it away because we knew who the hell's carrying this thing around. So I wonder what Romy's will be. Yeah, I don't know. What is it? He just wants to hold your hand. Yeah. Which is a frustrating.
00:03:46
Speaker
ah So we're drinking matcha now, that's our big thing. Oh yeah, matcha? Oh, we should save that for our little win. okay Oh, okay. Or maybe

Warehouse Work and Family Balance

00:03:52
Speaker
it's a big win. I don't know. It's good either way. I don't know. I'm be enjoying it. I know. I've actually even noticed my cheeks, my skin is better. Complexion wise, not that it was bad. I didn't have like heaps of pimples or anything like that, but just, I've noticed that the complexion is like smoother in the morning when I've got no makeup on. Right. Nice. And that's only over the last couple of months, which is, you know, when we've started upping our matcha or matcha, never know how to say it. I like the sound of matcha. I like matcha too. It sounds a bit more fancy. It's the matcha.
00:04:20
Speaker
Anyway, so yeah, we're being, wake up by someone is number one. woking up Someone's waking us up. It's usually not Romy either. It's one of the others. Evie will usually get up and like potter around on her own. Like play with, start playing with her toys and stuff. And she doesn't really disturb anyone until you open your eyes. Once your eyes are open, it's you're in. She'll be like, good morning.
00:04:40
Speaker
and and then Tady will wake up and also Jeremy and I rarely ever wake up in the same bed together so we go to sleep in the same bed and then Jeremy's usually ends up in Evie's room so Jeremy will usually sleep in the longest because he's not as good in the mornings he likes to sleep in whereas I'm happy to like get up with the kids he'll usually get up get a bottle and then go back to sleep and then I'll wake up with them And then we usually all start to wake up. And in saying this, our kids do not wake up early. We are parents that allow our kids to go to bed later if they want to. So that then they, and we didn't do this on purpose, but this is how it's worked out. Go to bed a bit later. Cause we go to bed a bit later, especially Jeremy and then wake up later. We're pretty much all on Jeremy's time to be honest with you. Everyone's on germs time. Yeah. So then they'll wake up. Then we'll go downstairs. After a while we'll get ready.
00:05:32
Speaker
They'll hassle us for the phones. I don't know if your kids are like this, but as soon as their eyes open, they want to watch YouTube. Yeah, they're obsessed with YouTube. I think every little kid's obsessed with YouTube at the moment. And so we put some, I wouldn't say we're too strict with it, but some things in place where we time it. So usually we don't like doing it in the morning and then we'll let them do it a little bit in the night usually when we get home. But sometimes they'll get it out of us. Maybe if it's the weekend or something like that, or if we it's been a later night or something and we want to sleep in, then we'll let them watch it for a little bit. But Katie especially, gosh, so addicted. yeah Yeah. So then we will get up, go downstairs, have brekkie.
00:06:21
Speaker
The kids, a lot of the time I make them porridge. They love, we call it oats, but it's like a porridge, I guess, but it's not full mushy like porridge has to be full sort of oats. Very particular. And we do, so I do oats, some collagen protein, chia seeds.
00:06:40
Speaker
cinnamon powder on and honey and they love that I love them starting the day like that because they don't like eggs they're not egg children unfortunately maybe when they get older Jeremy's mum said that he did not like eggs at all she tried it in other foods as a omelette or as a little eggy cup and they wouldn't eat it so our kids are definitely the same there they won't eat that so We usually start the day with some fruit and porridge, oats, and then we usually have to chuff off. So we've got um our beautiful nanny that comes and helps out and looks after the kids. And then we've also got Jeremy's mum, they're a weller, a weller, which we shorten to weller, the kids do. And she comes and looks after them a couple of days a week as well. So we're very blessed in the fact that we have that support.
00:07:33
Speaker
We have warehouse days where we will go together and go to the warehouse. Yep, we go to the warehouse, check stock levels, check in on the girls, see how everything's flowing, make sure everything's up to date. So some days we're essentially needed there, some days we're just there to help if we needed at the moment. This is a very new thing normally it's that we were needed there and we had to get in there and make sure we were packing but Now we've got some beautiful warehouse girls, which you would have heard about in our last podcast, which has been great. So now there's some days when they're in there together and we're like, okay, we can step back a little bit. We can go have meetings. We can do our podcast, that sort of thing. So a day in the warehouse, what does that sort of look like for us?
00:08:13
Speaker
Get in the warehouse, print all the invoices off, write in any formulas we need to get down onto the invoices and yeah, start making your herbals and compounds. Yes. All made with so much love or hand, poured and hand mixed. Yeah. And none of them are the same. Yeah. Which is so funny. They're all individualized. So every single one is different from a time perspective, not a win, but from a health perspective for you guys, it's definitely a win. Yeah.
00:08:43
Speaker
So yes, we put her away and that takes hours. Yeah. yeah And then wrap them back. Yeah. Postage to get picked up. Yep. And then we're always rushing for that postie. So our postie usually comes

Challenges of Working Parents

00:08:54
Speaker
ah ah between two two and three. Yeah. Three thirties lucky. More like two thirties. But we can never pick it on the day when it rains, they're slower, which is good for us. But we're always trying to rush to get everything done by that time. Nine to two ish isn't really enough time to get them all done.
00:09:13
Speaker
but that's okay we do our best and then we're usually pretty good yeah usually pretty good and then yeah and then we if not the next day we get them we continue packing it's not like we stop at 2 30 continue packing until five essentially and if we're able to leave earlier we will because we live about 45 minutes away from our wear, so usually we try and be back here by, depending on the day, five between 5 and 6.30, depending on who's looking after the kids, really. And then sometimes we'll have to come home and have meetings. Before, I guess we would be having meetings after. Usually it would be like when we'd had the kids, which is so stressful. Often we'd have them at 7 o'clock at night, 7pm.
00:09:58
Speaker
And cause our kids do go bed later, cause they, they do wake up later. Normally it's, oh, put the kids to bed and then you could do it. But for us, it's like the kids are still awake, but that's okay. We get through it. And then other days, so now I'm slowly getting back into pracking. I guess I've always kept a very small, I had a bit of time off. Not really. I had a little bit of time off. Was it like a couple of weeks?
00:10:24
Speaker
but I've keep a very small amount of clients. Unfortunately, I can't do my full load like I normally do. but that's usually just one day a week and I'm still exclusively breastfeeding. So in between consults, I'll be breastfeeding. I remember my first couple back actually, one of them, I can remember my client Saf, I was talking to her and I could hear Romi out there crying. I think it was your mom. And she brought him up the top of the stairs and I could hear him crying and he needed a feed. I was like, do you mind if I just feed him? Cause we will finish that consult anyway.
00:10:57
Speaker
I was like, do you mind if I like quickly finish this up and do payment stuff if that's okay? And she's like, that's fine. So I quickly grabbed him and fed him for the rest. So cute, but yeah, it's a juggle. Yeah, definitely a juggle. It's just a thing you try and balance. It is. We've got two meetings today.
00:11:16
Speaker
And then we're doing in our podcast this morning and then there'll be emails to get back to today. Haven't even had a good look at my emails. There's always jobs and things in there of things to do. Also being one for the practitioners, making sure that if they've need anything, we're here for them. So we have a chat that they can ask any questions in and all of us naturopaths get together and can answer any questions in there. And then if they need something direct from Jeremy and I, they can honestly just call us at any time. It's fine. And they've got each other as well. So if someone else gets back to a question faster, then it happens even faster, which is great. Great little team.

Family Fitness and Healthy Habits

00:11:54
Speaker
Great team. The moment, which is so good. It's a little bit easier. It does. It absolutely does.
00:12:01
Speaker
and What else? On our off days, like today, they're always good with something. Off days. Yeah. I love the word off day. And off day is just other things other than being in the warehouse. Seriously, I think that's relaxing in bed. What else? And then we have to eat in there as well. So we've been doing, actually we started the FIDAS app, which if you follow us on Instagram, you would know that I've been doing that for years and years now, just on and off.
00:12:26
Speaker
Did a postpartum with Romy again just recently and now Jeremy and I are actually doing it together. Super motivating when both of you do it. Yeah, each other accountable and we got to do it yeah we have to do it. I think it's, I'm doing the transform one at the moment. I'm pretty sure it's five times a week and two rest days.
00:12:42
Speaker
I'm not sure. I'll report back next week because the postpartum was three exercise days and then two walking days. It's a bit more gentle, but I think this one's a little bit harder. Anyway, we were doing it last night and the kids were downstairs with Jeremy's mum and they were like, let us out, let us out. like they want can't They always just want to be with us, which is so beautiful, but it makes it hard to do anything on our own. Anyway, that's kids, I guess, for you. They love us.
00:13:09
Speaker
So cute. Anyway, they scream like, come on, let's just let them up. Anyway, let them up. And they did the workout with us. It was so cute. Tati is a little star. He loves doing anything like that. Evie's good as well. She was doing the four little bridges, like the blue bridges.
00:13:24
Speaker
And Teddy was doing the lunges and he's so cute. That was cute. So anyway, I feel like it's a good thing for them to see us exercising as well because you can tell people to do anything, but really it's better to be a role model. So them seeing us do these exercises are going to be long-term. Like I'm thinking like when we're dead and gone and they have children and they think about the, I guess the foundations that we've built when they were kids. It was always a common thing for our family to exercise. yeah And it doesn't have to be hard, like amazing. If you're getting to the gym all the time, fantastic. If you're not, that's also fine. Do some floor work at home.
00:14:03
Speaker
Let them see you do some stretches. Let them see you go for a walk

The Realities of Entrepreneurship

00:14:06
Speaker
or go for a walk together as a family. Yeah. I think all those little things are important. And they love it. They actually love going on a walk. They love it. And tell them about the Jitsi. Yeah, their little Jitsi class is so good. They're progressing in their classes and doing new things. Like today, they were going to video send from their doll. What was it? On their back's back, yeah.
00:14:26
Speaker
taking the back and then it's like a rote you're pretty much going to hold on. ah Seriously, it's hold, tuck your legs around, tuck your arms around and hold on and she's doing little flips. Yeah, rolling her around and then she can try and hold on. yeah Yeah, it's so cute. I feel like that's such a great thing for them as they get older as well. Yeah. So they do jits and swimming. So I feel good about two sort of sports. Yeah.
00:14:50
Speaker
Just listening out. Baby Romy is in his bed, or is in our bed actually. He's in our bed. We go sleep. I know it's almost like a swear word saying it, but that's our choice. You do you, we do us. And yeah, he's in our bed. So we're just listening out to make sure that we hear him when he wakes up. Yep. He's getting around now. He's crawling. Oh my gosh. So he is. We're going to have to baby proof the house. Cause already this morning he had one of Evie's little plastic rings in his mouth. Yeah.
00:15:19
Speaker
Okay, here go here we go again. Gotta get down on all fours and just check. And there's so many little toys. Jeremy loves Lego, so he buys, like Tate encourages him to get Lego, which is super annoying, because there's so many pieces, but it is cool. Lego is cool. I feel like it's good for hand-eye coordination and that as well. And then there's lots of other things that pop up in between. If there's a problem that arises, which isn't very common, but something needs to get sorted. Say the girls have accidentally incorrectly save something that we need to help them with. Or if there's an issue with the supplier that they haven't got enough stock to fu fulfill our order, then we've got to find another supplier. There's always little things like that. I feel like we've really made it sound quite easy. We'll just say a little bit of a reality check. It ain't easy. yeah'
00:16:12
Speaker
A lot of hard work. Definitely owning your own business is not for the faint hearted. I guess going back to before we earned our own business, I guess you just look at all the highlights, right? Of how amazing it is. You get all this free time. You work so much less than nine to five. yeah It's all bullshit. You work so much more. There's so many extra layers of stress. There's so much that's asked of you.
00:16:37
Speaker
You have so much extra responsibility because you have all these other people that you've employed that are relying on you, which is amazing. And I feel like we do it really well. If I don't say so myself, like we've created a great company. We take care of our girls well. And I'm sure if you asked any of them, they would say the same thing because we do try and make sure we expect them to do their job and be good to us. And we'll be great to you in return. That's all we expect. And I feel like, yeah, we've got a great A great little community yeah in the mung bean. Good team. Health at

Meal and Supplement Planning

00:17:12
Speaker
the moment. Team Network. Which is great. So yeah, and then usually the night we have dinner. So we're blessed enough to have our nannies help with dinner three that days a week now, which is so good. So.
00:17:27
Speaker
Yeah, just have to try and, she'll help me, but I try and plan what we're having for dinner. It'll make it easier now we're doing the fitas because they have recipes on there. Because, you know, sometimes you get over cooking the same thing or you're like, oh, what should we have? Yes, even the naturopath feels that way sometimes. But the fitas have heaps of amazing recipes. They actually have this real young one, which is whitefish. So we'll probably do barramundi.
00:17:51
Speaker
and it's got lemon wedges and tomatoes and I think it's asparagus and you roast it all. Yum. Yum. We actually, when we're down in Sydney, we have this fish. I'm not huge on fish. I love seafood, but white fish especially love salmon. White, oh, there he is. Sorry about that. We've got our special guest here, Mr. Romy. He's so gorgeous. If you're watching the video at all, his little face is just so cute and he's a little chunker.
00:18:21
Speaker
Anyway, I was talking about fish. I always find it hard to get nice white fish. That's just my personal thing because I don't like it too fishy. That's why I like salmon. But we had this barramundi and it had truffle sauce on top. It was so good. yeah And the the fish was buttery soft. Anyway, it's motivated me a bit more to be like, yes. Eat some more fish. Eat some more fish.
00:18:42
Speaker
We both love seafood, so absolutely love a seafood platter. If it's on the menu, we'll probably get it. So then we we're pretty good at getting our iodine up that way, but yes, fish is, and we have our fish oil, so I feel good that's catching us, but I feel like, yeah, you can't go past eating the real food and getting that seafood in and that fish in.
00:19:04
Speaker
So yeah, that's a little bit of a day in the life of us. We also have our supplements in there. Look, probably not every morning. I'm going to be honest with you. Usually I might take my probiotic or iron, but then nighttime we catch up yeah because usually we are rushing in the morning. So I feel you, if you're struggling to get in those morning supplements, try and take them with you. Sometimes I'll take them with us to the warehouse and we'll have it at lunchtime and catch up in the, Hey, catch up in the evening.
00:19:31
Speaker
And I do the kids in the night as well when they're having dinner or after they've had dinner. I usually, because they love their supplements so much, I usually bribe them with that. So finish your dinner, then you can have your supplements. So it's a bit of a win because then i'm I'm bribing them with something good. That's also another thing that I love that the kids will see us do, see yeah they see us do our supplements. They love feeding us our tablets, right? Yeah, Teddy loves it, he's obsessed with it. So what I usually do is I get them all together and I put them in the little shock glasses and then I have the little shock glasses of herbs next to it.
00:20:01
Speaker
Then we do our shot of herbs and then we have our little supplements there because Jeremy, I'll have to can them too. I'll say they're here and Teddy will love it. So he gets one out, puts it in your mouth. Sometimes he's so quick and you're trying to swallow them all, but he loves it. Evie will then try and join in as well. So that's a bit of a day in the life. Yeah. What are we, what else is there to mention? We'll do our little bean, big bean. yeah Little bean this week would be, I feel like I'm on top of everything.
00:20:31
Speaker
I feel like my list is a little bit shorter this week, which is nice. I guess that's coming down to having that bit of extra time to get back to emails, do other jobs and things that are needed of me that I'm like, but I'll come back to that, or I have to check on that sort of thing. So that'll be my little bean. What's your little bean? My little bean is the matcha, which I mentioned earlier, but yeah, just not having as much coffee. Yeah, that's a good one. And then just changing it to the matcha. If you don't know what matcha is, it's a ground down green tea.
00:21:00
Speaker
Extract. I think it's the of

Balancing Work with Parenting

00:21:02
Speaker
the leaf and they get them off the bush. Don't quote me on this, but they get the leaveafs off it leaves off at a certain time, like of harvest. Can't remember if it's earlier or later. Anyway, whatever's most rich in antioxidants, they get it off and then they powder it down. Yeah. Rather than you just having the green tea leaves as a tea. So it's concentrated. Yes. you're Drinking the leaves essentially. Yeah. And it's so good. We have been loving it. Yeah. Yeah. Which is so good. We did get a little at home kit.
00:21:30
Speaker
And then we do also get it out. So it just depends on the day. But before that, we were having a few too many ice coffees and usually decaf. I always have decaf. And then Jeremy's been a bit more accustomed to decaf, which is great because the caffeine with the sleep doesn't really work with germ, but the the much is good. Yeah. It's no later anxiety or jitters. Doesn't make you up and crash.
00:21:55
Speaker
Yeah, you just feel good on it. Yeah. And it taste and tastes good. You do have to customize your taste buds a little bit. Yeah. It's a little bit like fish food first up. Yeah. And then as you start to get your palate ah custom wide to it. It's good. Yeah. okay Also, Romy comes with us pretty much everywhere.
00:22:16
Speaker
Yeah, he comes with us to the warehouse. He comes with us to our meetings. Pretty much all of them. It's rare that we don't have him with us. Cause obviously I'm still exclusively breastfeeding. So yeah, that adds a whole nother layer on our already busy schedule. Love him. He's a great baby. He's a good boy, but it does. It's okay. That's, I want to quickly get this done. Oh, he needs to feed. I'll quickly get this done. Oh, need to change his snappy. I'll quickly try and get this done. Let's put him to sleep. So,
00:22:44
Speaker
Big Bean for this week would be see more time to do other things in the business now that we have the warehouse girls. I'll probably mention it. Yeah, I think that was that that's our Big Bean for the next year, I reckon. But also, Big Bean would be the fit as I'd say, us doing that together. Although we still get out walks in that, i've and I've done the fit as before, I feel like it's such a great thing to be able to do together, I don't know, and have and actually have a little plan and stick to it. Yeah.
00:23:10
Speaker
Actually, I have a discount code for them. So if you're listening and you want to join us, cause it's good, everyone can get everyone motivated. yeah And let me just have a quick look. You can say, I think it's 10% with the code. So it's fit

Anyway, we'll keep you guys posted on that. Thank you for listening. Any questions? Always welcome. And any topics you want us to chat about, please reach out. See ya. Bye.
