Eden & Briana: Are there people that are like, have phobias against autism? I don't know.
Eden & Briana: I don't know. What the hell? I don't know. i don't know exactly what that means. I mean, we can Google it and see. Yeah. i umm Not for a second. But anyway. Yeah. And then we have Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.
Eden & Briana: Very nice. Very nice. What do you got for True Crime News? Oh, you're going to hate me. Oh, fudge packer. So. Wait, can I say that?
Eden & Briana: Say whatever you want. It's our podcast. Okay. Well. Okay. Okay. So in true crime news.
Eden & Briana: A former MMA cage fighter, Robert Buskey Jr. was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison for the 2024 starvation death of his five-year-old daughter. Oh, oh my.
Eden & Briana: how well do you want some more? Yes. Okay. First responders were called to follow a report up on a and an unknown on anne unresponsive child. Upon arrival to the home, they found the body of five-year-old Charlotte Buskey inside a portable crib in a locked bedroom.
Eden & Briana: The home was described as being in deplorable condition. The kitchen was stocked with food, but the girl was emaciated and had no traces of food in her system.
Eden & Briana: her three-year-old brother was found in a makeshift cage in the living room. According to prosecutor robert according to prosecutors, excuse me Robert kept the children locked up so he could play video games and do drugs without being interrupted.
Eden & Briana: Both children tested positive for cocaine. For more information on this and other true crime news, you can visit truecrimenews.com. Okay. I see ya. You're waiting. You're biting your tongue. I see it.
Eden & Briana: So you mean to tell me this guy is probably sitting well with money, correct? Well, he he was an MMA cage fighter, you would think? Okay. Well, I don't know. Maybe he didn't do so well. I don't know.
Eden & Briana: um
Eden & Briana: But if he can afford cocaine, um you think you could... ah Hire a nanny to take care of the kids, maybe? Or here, how about, if we're not going to take care of them, let's give them up for adoption.
Eden & Briana: Right? Let's not lock them in makeshift cages. They're not fucking animals. Excuse my language, Brad. But damn. Right? Are you effing kidding me? No.
Eden & Briana: No. That's... disgusting I want to say that she where was the mom don't quote me that did not say anything about the mom so if I mean I'm sure there's way more that could be found but um I want to say that her weight at five years old was 30 pounds
Eden & Briana: was the The boy okay?
Eden & Briana: Yeah, he was taken. I mean, I... Could you imagine? No, no, no, nope no, no. Sure can't because that doesn't happen overnight. That takes months and months.
Eden & Briana: No, no, I can't imagine. It makes me ill. And I don't understand. Yeah, that's a whole subject, but...
Eden & Briana: Yeah.
Eden & Briana: Oh, he's gonna love prison. I hope they give... I hope those inmates... They don't... talk They don't do well They do not do well with... Crimes against children.
Eden & Briana: Correct.
Eden & Briana: He might be some... What He might be somebody's bitch.
Eden & Briana: Yeah. Yeah.
Eden & Briana: karma has a way of coming back yes it does just look at dommer well and and too like it makes you wonder not only the cocaine messing up his brain But MMA is a very, like... Violent violent sport.
Eden & Briana: How many times did he get... Kicked in the head? Kicked, punched, body slammed onto the head. i don't know the rules of MMA. Don't know. It would be very interesting to go digging.
Eden & Briana: Yeah. No shite. I mean, i just I just can't understand the... i Yeah, I don't understand. Why even procreate?
Eden & Briana: I mean... yeah and that does make me wonder, where was mom? And it makes you wonder, like,
Eden & Briana: if you know at a certain age that you don't want kids, go take care of it. So this doesn't happen. Right. Right. But I do want to know what happened to mom and like why which why she wasn't in the picture. i am sure we can dig and dig and find out.
Eden & Briana: Yep. I'm going to do that after after this. I know. Okay. oh Poor babies. Okay. Yeah. Well, hopefully that three-year-old.
Eden & Briana: I mean, at his age, hopefully he will not recall any of it. A person could only pray. Yeah.
Eden & Briana: And what about, like, his family members? I don't know. Isn't that... ah Okay. I gotta to go digging.
Eden & Briana: I know, because we don't know the whole... My skin is, like, itching. We don't know the whole thing. I mean, we don't even know how... ah who called the first responders for an unresponsive child, you know? Right. i This is just the gist of the story. huh Probably somebody who went there to do cocaine. who i well Well, she was in a locked room. i and Oh, we yeah.
Eden & Briana: I don't know. Anyways. Anyways. So I have a case that you're also not going to like and neither are our listeners but her story deserves to be told and it's going to be told and this little bastard um yeah there's that oh well i guess freaking lay it on me okay jacob la rosa was born july 1999
Eden & Briana: When Jacob was about the age of four, his mom, Megan, married Randall... I'm gonna... Lucer... Lucer... Lucer... Lucer there we go sorry i did i just did not do good there and they lived in niles ohio his biological father edward lived in youngstown which according to google is approximately only twelve miles from niles okay but Jacob and his father's relationship was reported as being very poor.
Eden & Briana: okay. Yeah. So. Off to a wonderful start. Off to a great start. By the time Jacob was eight years old, he showed significant developmental difficulties.
Eden & Briana: He had like an extremely low IQ measurement at 64 feet. And just for a reference, the average IQ of an eight-year-old is between 90 to 109 with a low normal of 85. And he was 64.
Eden & Briana: So at this point, he did begin receiving counseling. And by the age of nine, he was officially diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, opposition oppositional defiant disorder,
Eden & Briana: and additional mood and behavior disorders. okay So they they went ahead and they placed him in special education classes, like in the first grade, due to severe difficulties retaining information.
Eden & Briana: Like he just couldn't keep a hold of any of it. Which coincides with ADD. Yeah. and by the age of 14, Jacob had already racked up quite the juvenile record.
Eden & Briana: To include throwing a mason jar at a seven-year-old little sister, hitting her in the eye area requiring 18 stitches to repair. Oh! Shoplifting, breaking into cars. At age nine, you said? by by By the age of 14. Oh, by the age of 14. Yep. Okay.
Eden & Briana: And throwing rocks at cars. And while he was serving time in a juvenile detention center, he threatened violence against another resident.
Eden & Briana: He used another resident's computer to send sexually explicit emails to a teacher, and he was caught masturbating while looking at images of women.
Eden & Briana: His mother had to file multiple missing person reports for running away and leaving while on house arrest, with his mother reportedly stating, quote, he comes and goes as he pleases, unquote.
Eden & Briana: Doors were being locked at night to prevent Jacob from stealing their personal items, and apparently Randall slept with a gun under his pillow in fear of Jacob's violence. I'm going to take little break for a second. Any questions?
Eden & Briana: I'm sorry, but if you feel the need to sleep with a gun... under your pillow because of a 14 year old's violent tendencies maybe that would have been a good time to consider ah like a psyche valve and mental institution for a while some rehab some something yeah some good meds
Eden & Briana: Under a doctor's orders. And like professional staff supervision. Just saying.
Eden & Briana: But we don't know the whole situation, so there's that. But but yes. I mean, to go to the extent of sleeping with a gun. Yeah, that's an issue.
Eden & Briana: Because of, not because you live in ah a bad neighborhood or There was a recent break in your step kid. ever Because. OK. I just have a feeling all of this could have been prevented.
Eden & Briana: But since we're here, it wasn't. So. Right. I guess this is going to be maybe a lesson. Right. These things stress me out. i know.
Eden & Briana: Well, this isn't going to be any better. So.
Eden & Briana: Especially when I pull up pictures. Oh, no, I ain't looking. You can't pay me. I could sit on you. You weigh what, 80 pounds? I could easily lift you off me. i don't think so. Your mom is getting junkier.
Eden & Briana: so Oh, I'm sorry, 85. Oh, piss off. So here we go. On the evening of March 31st, 2015, 15-year-old Jacob LaRosa showed up at home covered in blood, wearing only his socks and underwear.
Eden & Briana: He was really having a hard time talking, and his words were quite slurred. And his simple explanation to his family was that a group of teens jumped him, they had beaten him, and poured alcohol down his throat.
Eden & Briana: Now, as I said earlier, this kid was no stranger to trouble. In fact, just that very morning, he had been released from a juvenile detention center for a probation violation.
Eden & Briana: Unfortunately, Jacob's mom often justified his actions instead of holding him accountable. Oh, fudge, Packer, okay. Okay. okay Now that's all I found about that. Like, I didn't find any situations to put it in perspective, but this was in multiple resources that I used that that was in there.
Eden & Briana: I believe on one of the court documents that was on there, I mean it's got to be hard. Yeah, I'm sure. I mean, with all... i I know this is a completely different thing, but, like, I was in denial about my son for the longest time.
Eden & Briana: And even though I was in denial, like, I was still putting him in bubble wrap. Yep. Protecting him. Like, oh, no, he can't he can't go outside when it's less than 70 degrees or if it's over. I was very particular...
Eden & Briana: may overprotective yeah yep you even sneeze you wouldn't let me in the house pretty much yeah
Eden & Briana: huh okay uh so it's gotta be hard oh i couldn't imagine i could not imagine But then, denial, grief. I don't know. All that stuff.
Eden & Briana: I don't know. I don't know because I haven't walked in her shoes, I guess. I know. And sometimes media and sometimes things can misconstrue things. Yes. And you do want to protect your child pretty much at all costs. Yeah, you love them. They're your children. Well, yeah. It's hard.
Eden & Briana: It's hard. No judgment. No. No. So obviously after hearing Jacob's story and his bloody half-naked appearance, his mom did call 911. Officers and EMTs arrived at the house where they find Jacob clearly drunk and covered in blood.
Eden & Briana: He repeated the story that he'd been jumped by a gang of teens who had beaten him and poured alcohol down his throat, but this time he added that they had a gun and one of them put the gun to his head and made him drink alcohol straight from the bottle.
Eden & Briana: Okay. his story is already changing. So after, you know, just doing and the initial look over and checking his vitals and stuff, he was deemed stable for transport to the hospital.
Eden & Briana: An officer walked to his car to follow the ambulance to the hospital so he could get a formal statement from Jacob. But before he could leave, a woman from across the street waved him down.
Eden & Briana: Need a drink? Need a breath? Need a something? No. I guess just keep going. I don't wanna. She explained that she had just arrived to visit her mother, 94-year-old Marie Belcastro.
Eden & Briana: But when she entered the house, she found the living room complete disaster with blood everywhere. And when she called out to her mother and didn't get a response, she was afraid that she may be seriously injured but found herself afraid to go into the house any further.
Eden & Briana: The officer told her to wait outside and he would check the house. He immediately knew something was seriously wrong. There was pools of blood on the floor. There was blood soaked into the couch. And there was blood on the walls and on like a lamp.
Eden & Briana: There was also a pair of sweatpants and women's underwear laying on the floor along with a purse and its contents dumped out.
Eden & Briana: He followed a trail of blood down a hallway
Eden & Briana: that led to the master bedroom where Marie lay in a fetal position on her bed. She was naked from the waist down and she had terrible, terrible head trauma.
Eden & Briana: Unfortunately, Marie's daughter did not remain outside and saw her mother in that condition. oh I can't even pretend to imagine what she felt. Just the the sheer trauma of seeing a loved one in that condition is just not something anyone should have to endure.
Eden & Briana: any Anyone. No, absolutely not. But, you know, they they lived. Who would have thought something like that, though? I would have thought, yeah, maybe she fell and hit her head.
Eden & Briana: And maybe she was afraid to find how hurt she was. Who is thinking
Eden & Briana: ah what I'm about to finish telling you?
Eden & Briana: It's a nice community. i don't think things like that happen there. So anyway.
Eden & Briana: Hmm. So back at the hospital, doctors couldn't find not one scratch on Jacob. So whoever's blood was all over him, it certainly was not his.
Eden & Briana: The only thing wrong with Jacob was his blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. Ooh.
Eden & Briana: Instructions to not let Jacob leave were sent to the hospital. A forensic team and detectives were sent to the hospital where they collected his clothing and all the items the hospital staff had used to clean him off with.
Eden & Briana: And several swabs were also taken, which contained material matching Marie's DNA.
Eden & Briana: So, further evidence was collected at the crime scene. Detectives figured that Jacob had broken into the house through a side door. He found Marie in the living room and immediately struck her with a mag light,
Eden & Briana: Now, just in case and everyone's not familiar with a mag light, it's like a really heavy duty metal flashlight. They're not the cheap little chintzy plastic ones.
Eden & Briana: Don't they usually use that in like correctional? Say that one? I'm sorry, what? Is that the type of ones they use in like corrections? um
Eden & Briana: it's It's like that. Yeah. Yeah. Probably the same material. Heavy duty. Yeah, heavy duty. You said duty. Duty. So Marie was a very tiny lady. She was only four feet eight inches in height. Oh my God, just tiny. And she only weighed 85 pounds.
Eden & Briana: oh so Not your size. Let's not give in the. Well, she's a little bit taller than me or shorter than me, though. Not by much. Shut up.
Eden & Briana: Don't even go there. But could you I mean, i just.
Eden & Briana: Let's take it. Let's not even take into fact how tiny she is. I don't care how healthy you are at 94. You're still 94 years
Eden & Briana: And imagine living up till 94. No. when we talk about her, you're going to just cry. and
Eden & Briana: that's the way you go out? No, no. and i'm sure her I'm sure her poor daughters think about that all the time. i hope. oh I think. Okay.
Eden & Briana: You know, let's get back to it. I don't want to talk about it anymore. So.
Eden & Briana: The attack on Marie was beyond her horrific. Her skull was so fractured that the ME could not with 100% certainty determine how many times she'd been struck.
Eden & Briana: The top of her skull was crushed into splinters, both of her eyes were ruptured, and her hearing aid had been crushed inside her ear canal and parts of her brain were visible.
Eden & Briana: Jacob then undressed Marie from the waist down and drug her down the hallway to the master bedroom where he tried to rape the still alive Marie.
Eden & Briana: He then made his way through the house looking for valuables to steal. So was he unsuccessful with the rape? it's ah it From what I gathered, yes, it was unsuccessful.
Eden & Briana: But...
Eden & Briana: The only saving grace here is she had to be unconscious.
Eden & Briana: Yeah. so he then made his way through the house looking for valuables to steal. And when he got to the basement, he found several bottles of alcohol and he drank them.
Eden & Briana: When he was good and drunk, he made his way home. So he did this sober. Yep. He didn't get drunk till after. Jacob was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary.
Eden & Briana: aggravated robbery, attempted rape, so he was not successful, and aggravated murder. And at the age of 15, Jacob was to be tried and as an adult.
Eden & Briana: Now, while in juvenile detention awaiting his trial, Jacob loved to brag about his crime and that he had, quote, seen the old lady's brains, unquote,
Eden & Briana: and that his plan had been to hide her body so that he could come back and abuse her later. Quote, I was saving her for later, unquote, he would say.
Eden & Briana: So,
Eden & Briana: does it say or did it say anywhere from the attempted rape to when she passed? No, it did not.
Eden & Briana: I'm... I must... Her skull and stuff was so fractured. Yeah, but when you said he drug her to the... She was still breathing. she was still...
Eden & Briana: It doesn't mean she was there. Right. Yeah. eight Right. Marie's autopsy showed cause of death as blunt cranial cerebral trauma.
Eden & Briana: Her face was, quote, basically crushed, unquote. The skull fractured to such a degree that the number of blows blows was unable to be determined. Her eyes were ruptured inside her head.
Eden & Briana: Her hearing aid was shattered and was compacted deep in her ear canal. Brain matter and skull fragment fragments were visible and her injuries were compared to that of a fatal high impact car accident.
Eden & Briana: As in, you're going normal speed, you go head on with a standing still object.
Eden & Briana: Jacob was brought to trial in February of 2018. He pled, quote, no contest, unquote, meaning... He accepts conviction and sentencing without formally admitting guilt.
Eden & Briana: The judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, the Ohio appeals court reversed the sentence, reducing it to 25 to life. Are you effing kidding i am not kidding you. I don't, I don't know.
Eden & Briana: I don't know. But I'm pretty sure there's...
Eden & Briana: Does it have something to do with it's not ethical to sentence a minor to life in prison without the possibility? But look what he did in his history. I know.
Eden & Briana: i know. There is a possibility that he could get out in 2040. forty And the only thing that this did was now the family is going to have to relive this every time that fucker comes up for parole.
Eden & Briana: His family, Marie's family is going to have to go through this every fucking time that that little monster is up for parole.
Eden & Briana: And I cannot believe who in their right mind... I would read this case over. oh he doesn't deserve life without parole.
Eden & Briana: We're going to drop it down 25 to life. I'm sure that's not it. And I think i probably has something to do with that stoop with that law that says life in prison without parole is not and humane for minors or whatever, whatever that law was.
Eden & Briana: I'm not 100% sure that's what it was about, but.
Eden & Briana: So. it's just it's It's, in my opinion,
Eden & Briana: and we've said this numerous times, now if this was Cody Posey.
Eden & Briana: Totally different story. Yep. He doesn't deserve
Eden & Briana: life in prison without parole.
Eden & Briana: He was saving his own damn life. There's just, it's the wrong way, but I feel like there's a line. And this guy is way past that line.
Eden & Briana: Yep. And I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the plea that he gave. I don't know. The no contest. I don't know. i mean, we could probably dig and find out, but he's a monster anyway. And that, that just the idea that he has a chance to get out is, is terrifying to tell you the truth and putting Marie's daughters and grandchildren and great grandchildren
Eden & Briana: through having to go through parole hearings and relive that shit. I think I've said this like four times already because that is just disgusting. Disgusting.
Eden & Briana: So Marie was a 94 year old widow living alone in Niles, Ohio. Her husband, Fred died in 1989. So she'd been alone for a while.
Eden & Briana: She worked, um She worked an electric company. I don't know exactly what she did, but she also worked as a school bus driver and an aide.
Eden & Briana: I'm 94 years old. Well, I don't know. She had worked. She had. That'd be so cool. She enjoyed plants, cards, and time with family.
Eden & Briana: Who does that remind you of? Just wait. It it gets better. Marie was remembered as an energetic woman known for her humor and loving nature.
Eden & Briana: Marie loved fly fishing, which she learned on her 90th birthday.
Eden & Briana: and she loved it. She go-getter. Yes, and just cute bug's ear. She left behind two daughters, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Eden & Briana: Our hearts go out to her family, and I pray that Jacob LaRosa never in his lifetime sees the outside of a prison. Ever. Ditto. And that's it.
Eden & Briana: Okay, good, because my blood is boiling and...
Eden & Briana: I know, right?
Eden & Briana: Wait till I show you the pictures.
Eden & Briana: So, yeah, if you have. questions, comments, concerns, case recommendations, anything, literally, if you just want to say hi or say a bad word or vent, whatever the case may be, you can email us at minorsofmayhem at gmail.com. You can find us on Facebook and send us a message on there. Just type in minors of mayhem in the search bar and we should pop up.
Eden & Briana: Um, We love you and stay safe out there. stay safe. And see you next time. Don't lock your children in makeshift cages.
Eden & Briana: Geez. Way to round that up, Bree. Well, for Pete, i'm i know I'm telling you my blood is boiling right now. I got to get out of here. Okay. Goodbye. bye guys.
Eden & Briana: Goodbye.
Eden & Briana: She hit the wrong button. Sorry, guys. That was the wrong extra. Here your extra. Goodbye.
Eden & Briana: Play.
